:01:07. > :01:14.Good morning from Interlagos. The sun is shining. The wind has picked

:01:15. > :01:19.up. We are expecting temperatures to get into the 80s. Very different

:01:20. > :01:25.yesterday, a lot warmer. Hamilton impressed us. Half a second faster

:01:26. > :01:30.than Rosberg. A hours later in free practice to it was almost the exact

:01:31. > :01:34.reverse, Rosberg leading Hamilton by almost exactly the same gap.

:01:35. > :01:43.Hamilton has already been crowned champion but the battle for second

:01:44. > :01:54.is still up for grabs. 21 points separate the jury. -- two. Mercedes

:01:55. > :02:12.became champions in Russia. In the pit lane we have Tom

:02:13. > :02:17.Clarkson. What are conditions like? On the fees that this is perfect

:02:18. > :02:22.conditions for the team to warn cars for qualifying. Track temperature of

:02:23. > :02:27.40 degrees. The ambient is in the mid-20s which is great for me and

:02:28. > :02:31.Jenny. There is a bit of a tail wind which could make braking for Turn 1

:02:32. > :02:38.a little bit tricky. What will bother the teams as the green nature

:02:39. > :02:43.of the track, and what I mean is the robber was washed away yesterday in

:02:44. > :02:50.a huge storm last night. The track conditions are going to change as

:02:51. > :02:55.more rubber gets laid down. An ever-changing racetrack. That should

:02:56. > :03:09.make it very interesting for us. As always you can get involved in the

:03:10. > :03:13.session. We have the live feed up and running. We will endeavour to

:03:14. > :03:17.read out as many comments as possible. It is going to be a busy

:03:18. > :03:23.session. It is going to be a good session to get everyone going for

:03:24. > :03:25.qualifying. Mercedes had the edge yesterday and the question is

:03:26. > :03:32.whether anyone can get close to them. For qualifying pace it is

:03:33. > :03:38.going to be tough for anyone to get close to the Mercedes. The Williams

:03:39. > :03:57.are close enough to challenge the Ferraris, but the Ferraris pace

:03:58. > :04:00.looked good. Rosberg on a roll of four pole positions. Hamilton

:04:01. > :04:05.looking to take his 50th pole position. It has been a while. He

:04:06. > :04:11.has been waiting for that since the Italian Grand Prix, Monza, where he

:04:12. > :04:16.last took pole position, is 49. Plenty of fans in the grandstands

:04:17. > :04:20.already looking forward to a hot and sultry day. Looking at temperatures

:04:21. > :04:26.going a bit for Sunday. It looks as if the track is going to be very

:04:27. > :04:30.warm. As Tom was suggesting as we get to qualifying. It is likely to

:04:31. > :04:36.get hotter as we go through this session. Jenson Button looks happy

:04:37. > :04:40.enough but it was not a particularly inspiring day once again for

:04:41. > :04:51.McLaren. Engine failure, power unit sell your. That restricted Fernando

:04:52. > :04:55.Alonso. Jenson was 13th, but I do not expect there to be a week in

:04:56. > :05:00.form suddenly from that team. It is a tough circuit from them because

:05:01. > :05:05.there are two main sectors to accelerate up out of the last

:05:06. > :05:15.corner. A long steep uphill section and you need good acceleration, good

:05:16. > :05:19.hybrid work out of their -- fog. This final practice session before

:05:20. > :05:26.qualifying, crucial to do final checks. Towards the end of the hour

:05:27. > :05:28.it will be quite late before we see them put the soft tyre on and really

:05:29. > :05:33.go for it. them put the soft tyre on and really

:05:34. > :05:37.go for it. The soft tyre had about a 1 second advantage on that

:05:38. > :05:41.performance. Only able to get one lap out of the tyre. Hamilton tried

:05:42. > :05:45.to do a small that and go again but it was not quite quick enough. In

:05:46. > :05:51.longer run pace that gap did shorten. They are out onto the

:05:52. > :05:56.medium tyre and will be keeping those soft tyres for later.

:05:57. > :06:02.Raikkonen and Vettel did well yesterday. Raikkonen was fifth in

:06:03. > :06:08.the morning and fourth in the afternoon. Vettel was third. It

:06:09. > :06:17.looks as if Red Bull could be the best of the rest. We will have to

:06:18. > :06:23.wait and see. Power unit change. There might have gone back to one

:06:24. > :06:28.they used in Mexico at McLaren. Yes. The one that failed yesterday was

:06:29. > :06:34.the one in Boston in Texas. It is the latest specifications from Honda

:06:35. > :06:48.on that one but they added problem in Austen. Continuing the battle

:06:49. > :06:52.withdrawal Rosso in the constructors' championship. A

:06:53. > :06:56.difficult night for Romain Grosjean who lives in Paris. He must have a

:06:57. > :07:02.lot going through his head. He must exclude that and get on with

:07:03. > :07:07.driving. The boss of Ferrari keeps an eye on his team's progress to see

:07:08. > :07:17.whether Vettel and Raikkonen are going to be able to challenge those

:07:18. > :07:20.Mercedes at the top. Nasr put in a decent run yesterday. Sauber might

:07:21. > :07:25.not be as far off as some of the other tracks. Yes, I think when the

:07:26. > :07:31.circuit robbers in some people I am not too sure were at their peak

:07:32. > :07:40.yesterday. I would expect them to slip back in little bit. Nasr Max,

:07:41. > :07:46.this is his home crowd. Fully be mass has always been good round

:07:47. > :07:51.here. Sauber will be hoping for a lot from him this weekend because it

:07:52. > :08:02.is grated take battle for Toro Rosso. Now Sir Mike was 14th in the

:08:03. > :08:06.first session. A lot of family support. I am sure people who

:08:07. > :08:10.supported him through the years in his racing career. He comes from a

:08:11. > :08:14.racing family. I am sure they will be delighted to be with him this

:08:15. > :08:21.weekend. Hamilton in no hurry to come out on track. No sign of Lewis

:08:22. > :08:27.just yet. They are waiting to see how the track develops and come out

:08:28. > :08:30.later in the session. We can get more information from Mercedes

:08:31. > :08:35.because Tom Clarkson is with their technical director Paddy Lowe.

:08:36. > :08:39.Neither of your drivers are in their garage, it seems as if you are going

:08:40. > :08:44.to let other people clean the track for you. That is about it. Do you

:08:45. > :08:49.expect the track conditions to have changed? We expect hurts to have run

:08:50. > :08:54.onto the track with the rainwater so it is quickly cleaned up. Yesterday

:08:55. > :09:02.morning you did a lot of work for 20s extreme, various aerodynamic

:09:03. > :09:07.bits, did you make progress? Yes. We learned quite a bit. We do a lot of

:09:08. > :09:10.testing on Friday. Some of the things yesterday were perhaps more

:09:11. > :09:15.visible than usual. With the absence of normal track testing Friday

:09:16. > :09:19.Practice 1 is a very important session for that sort was a good

:09:20. > :09:28.day. Rosberg yesterday afternoon was the second clear of the next

:09:29. > :09:31.non-Mercedes car. Yes. His pace looked very strong but I think

:09:32. > :09:36.Ferrari were not performing at their best. They were talking about that

:09:37. > :09:40.so we may see them step forward today. We are not ruling that out.

:09:41. > :09:51.What is the programme for this morning? When will we see you?

:09:52. > :09:57.Shortly. They had a template over Nico Hulkenberg's head down to the

:09:58. > :10:01.front of the cockpit. There are regulations of where the driver can

:10:02. > :10:07.sit and the minimum height between that line between the role to plan

:10:08. > :10:12.the dashboard, in case the car is upside down, so that the driver's

:10:13. > :10:16.head is not exposed to the tarmac for example, therefore the driver

:10:17. > :10:22.has to sit in a box and at quite a low-level hate and they were

:10:23. > :10:26.checking that. Why this morning? They double check these things.

:10:27. > :10:31.Sometimes the FIA check them to make sure. Also as he has changed his

:10:32. > :10:35.eight position for example. I used to do that for certain circuits if I

:10:36. > :10:40.had to look into the apex of the corner. I do not think he has grown

:10:41. > :10:48.anything. It is to make sure that regulation is OK. Jennie, you have

:10:49. > :10:58.air update from Williams. Yes. Yesterday that the red flag came out

:10:59. > :11:01.and when it was out Bottas was summoned to the stewards for

:11:02. > :11:06.breaching regulations. He has been given a drop of three places on the

:11:07. > :11:10.grid for tomorrow. He also has two penalty points awarded to those

:11:11. > :11:16.licence. He was not particularly happy and did not think that should

:11:17. > :11:19.have been the case. He goes back three places. It will be keen to

:11:20. > :11:26.make the most of the situation and see where he can go. He was hoping

:11:27. > :11:30.to try to get onto the podium this weekend and beat his team-mates,

:11:31. > :11:39.which the Brazilians would not be happy about. He is disappointed.

:11:40. > :11:42.That fight between Bottas and Raikkonen is pretty hot. He felt he

:11:43. > :11:47.had no choice because there were cars slowing ahead of them and he

:11:48. > :11:53.had to overtake the car as the red flag came out but the stewards felt

:11:54. > :11:58.otherwise. One of the stewards as my old team-mate from Toyota.

:11:59. > :12:03.Talk us through the section of the track he is on. He is on the long

:12:04. > :12:09.start and finish straight. It is always turning, always load on the

:12:10. > :12:14.right-hand side tyres. What you do not realise from the on-board camera

:12:15. > :12:18.is the fact that it is so steep up there and as he turns into this

:12:19. > :12:23.left-hander how much it drops down into that right and flattens out

:12:24. > :12:28.through the long left-hander. This corner is a little bit different to

:12:29. > :12:38.last year because there are new curbs put in so the cars cannot cut

:12:39. > :12:42.as much. We were talking about penalties. The only other penalties

:12:43. > :12:46.we know about is attend placement for Daniel Ricciardo because he has

:12:47. > :12:53.gone to the revised specification of Renault engine. That gives him a ten

:12:54. > :12:57.place penalty. We have a three place penalty for Bottas. We saw Perez

:12:58. > :13:01.coming out of the pits with a bit of wheel spin. The black marks all the

:13:02. > :13:05.way down the pit lane where the drivers have been coming out and

:13:06. > :13:12.doing little burn-outs and then they have to all the way to the end the

:13:13. > :13:16.pit lane before they can actually do their practice. It is unusual at the

:13:17. > :13:21.circuit but it is because as you exit the pit it is impossible. I

:13:22. > :13:28.feel some pulling to the left on the brakes. It has often been a bit of a

:13:29. > :13:34.problem to get the braking right for the braking right for Felipe Massa.

:13:35. > :13:39.This circuit is tampered to the right so the car tends to pull a

:13:40. > :13:44.little bit. In his first run, he is quickest at the moment, brake

:13:45. > :13:48.temperature side to side, if there is a little distortion, maybe 30

:13:49. > :13:54.degrees difference, it can make a difference. Rosberg getting closer

:13:55. > :14:03.to coming out but still no action from either of the Mercedes drivers.

:14:04. > :14:12.We have yet to see Jenson Button come out. Thank you for your

:14:13. > :14:21.comments. Simon asks, you have driven at Interlagos, which was

:14:22. > :14:27.tougher, the speed of F1 or at the longevity of the W C race? I think

:14:28. > :14:32.the longevity. This is quite a physical surface. It is a

:14:33. > :14:35.left-handed track. Normally the predominant number of circuits are

:14:36. > :14:48.right-handed. There are only four that are left-handed. We have just

:14:49. > :14:53.seen Perez come through there. This Turn 4 dipping down through turn

:14:54. > :14:57.five it is all working on the side that is not normally that

:14:58. > :15:01.well-trained. In Formula 1 the G-force these are quite

:15:02. > :15:06.significantly less so the drivers do not have the same fatigue level as

:15:07. > :15:09.before. One thing about sports car racing is overtaking with traffic

:15:10. > :15:13.and that was always tough because it is very narrow.

:15:14. > :15:20.That could be a problem in the first part of qualifying when you have all

:15:21. > :15:25.of the cars out there. It is easy to trip over a slower car. And the

:15:26. > :15:32.tyres can only do one lap at peak performance. You will see drivers

:15:33. > :15:36.bunching up to make sure they get a perfect exhilaration to start the

:15:37. > :15:40.lap because if they can gain that little bit out of the final corner,

:15:41. > :15:47.they carry it all the way to the first corner. Nasr has set the

:15:48. > :15:54.initial pace. Perez immediately goes second fastest but early stages in

:15:55. > :15:59.this final practice session as the track sits in the sunshine here in

:16:00. > :16:05.the southern part of Sao Paulo. Looking at a replay of Perez, the

:16:06. > :16:11.slow motion camera gives us a glimpse of that tiny lock-up which

:16:12. > :16:17.was hardly anything, but a great slow motion shot. Felipe Nasr, maybe

:16:18. > :16:24.a little error from him. This was coming up to Juncao. Doing a lot of

:16:25. > :16:31.fiddling around on the steering wheel. He had also locked up his

:16:32. > :16:42.front left when he was steering to the right. I can understand if he

:16:43. > :16:45.might have a break in balance. -- imbalance. You have to have total

:16:46. > :16:50.confidence on the brakes around here because there are a couple of big

:16:51. > :16:59.braking areas, into the first corner and into turn 4. We were looking at

:17:00. > :17:08.the track and the history and indeed the unpredictable weather. Is Brazil

:17:09. > :17:14.as special as a European race, Ryan is asking? You would have to say

:17:15. > :17:18.yes. And with the history as welcome it has been on the calendar since

:17:19. > :17:23.the early 70s. There is a huge passion and it is one of the

:17:24. > :17:28.significant tracks on the calendar. I think it is one that we should

:17:29. > :17:31.maintain and keep on the calendar. The Brazilians have a tremendous

:17:32. > :17:37.history in the sport and they are very passionate and bring a lot of

:17:38. > :17:43.enthusiasm. On Sunday morning, all of the grandstands will be bouncing

:17:44. > :17:50.with enthusiasm at 9am, five hours before the start. That is something

:17:51. > :17:55.that the sport needs. The circuit is named after Carlos Pace who was a

:17:56. > :18:01.driver in the early 70s and won the third time that Formula 1 came here

:18:02. > :18:05.in 1975 when he was driving for Brabham. He was tragically killed in

:18:06. > :18:10.a flying accident but is remembered through the name of the track, and

:18:11. > :18:16.of course Emerson Fittipaldi, who won the first two races here at

:18:17. > :18:22.Interlagos. Ferrari, this is Kimi Raikkonen. It was actually Niki

:18:23. > :18:28.Lauda who took the first Ferrari win around this track in 1976 and Carlos

:18:29. > :18:33.Reutemann won here the following year for the team. They are tied

:18:34. > :18:38.with McLaren in terms of victories here, they both have eight victories

:18:39. > :18:46.around Interlagos. And Ferrari has gone fastest. These lap times are

:18:47. > :18:54.not close to the fast times from yesterday. Rosberg did a 1:12.3

:18:55. > :19:01.yesterday. And last year he was very quick. He did an 1:10.4 to go

:19:02. > :19:08.fastest in FP3 and also took pole position. And his final time was

:19:09. > :19:15.very close to the ultimate lap time around here, something I expect

:19:16. > :19:21.could be beaten this year. But at the moment, they have not quite been

:19:22. > :19:25.able to achieve those times, partly because of the temperatures and the

:19:26. > :19:30.fact that the circuit does not seem to have rubber and in as well and

:19:31. > :19:38.they have also been some changes to some of the Kaunas where the drivers

:19:39. > :19:45.cannot cut as much -- to some of the corners. We are on board with the

:19:46. > :19:50.sensation of the season in many ways, Max Verstappen, all of 18

:19:51. > :19:53.years old but what great manoeuvres he has been pulling off throughout

:19:54. > :19:59.the season and consistent point-scoring latterly as well. He

:20:00. > :20:03.takes this vital corner that leads up the steep hill and flat out on

:20:04. > :20:14.the power. This is where he is down a bit with the Renault horsepower.

:20:15. > :20:24.That breaking point into turn 1, how difficult is it to get spot on? It

:20:25. > :20:30.is very tough because you break very late. There is a bit of a lift off

:20:31. > :20:37.at the moment to get some hybrid regeneration. But you breaking about

:20:38. > :20:43.50 metres from the corner. And as soon as you get to it, the road

:20:44. > :20:49.camber is towards the apex so the inside left front wheel is very

:20:50. > :20:52.unloaded and it is easy to lock-up. The difference between getting it

:20:53. > :20:57.right or not is about a 10th of a second and in that time you have

:20:58. > :21:01.done about nine metres. I was watching in the second practice

:21:02. > :21:07.yesterday. What was noticeable was that the Mercedes can break very

:21:08. > :21:12.late into that corner will stop they are running a lot of downforce. They

:21:13. > :21:16.are up there on the speed traps but not miles ahead of everybody. I

:21:17. > :21:22.think there downforce is helping them with their braking. It is for

:21:23. > :21:27.this middle sector. The first and third sectors are all about

:21:28. > :21:30.straight-line speed and acceleration but the middle sector that Sebastian

:21:31. > :21:37.Vettel has just come through is all about downforce and grip. They also

:21:38. > :21:44.accelerated so quickly between turn 1 and new Merrick two. Let's see if

:21:45. > :21:49.Sebastian Vettel can beat that time, yes, a little quicker but we are

:21:50. > :21:52.still not down to the rapid pace that we will see at the end of the

:21:53. > :21:58.session was thank you for your comments. Katie thinks you are

:21:59. > :22:06.taking styling tips from Eddie Jordan! I think he is taking them

:22:07. > :22:10.from me! And do drivers specially trained their neck muscles for these

:22:11. > :22:16.tracks? You don't actually have the same strike on your neck as before.

:22:17. > :22:24.Where Raikkonen is now, it is just a long, big, fast left-hand bend so

:22:25. > :22:28.you can sit your head against the headrest on the right-hand side to

:22:29. > :22:34.take away the stress and strain. I was out on Turn 1 yesterday and it

:22:35. > :22:40.is incredible to watch the cars going through. People are talking

:22:41. > :22:45.about the kerbs this year, they are massive and have changed from last

:22:46. > :22:51.year. Rosberg and Hamilton both said they were not particularly enjoying

:22:52. > :22:57.them. It turns out that might be one of the reasons the cars are going a

:22:58. > :23:01.bit slower because they can't go over the kerbs as much as they have

:23:02. > :23:09.done, especially in turn eight and turn nine. It is adding on about 1.5

:23:10. > :23:16.metres to the length of the track. The drivers are not enjoying it. The

:23:17. > :23:25.circuit is the same for everyone. It has changed a little bit. There is a

:23:26. > :23:34.15 millimetre increase on the inside of the kerb.

:23:35. > :23:41.If everybody has to go around it, it is the same as any other corner. We

:23:42. > :23:49.just might not get lap records. Bottas goes third but a bit of way

:23:50. > :23:53.off from the Ferrari time. Paul asks if the higher track ten bridges will

:23:54. > :24:01.benefit Ferrari and if they can challenge Mercedes. -- track

:24:02. > :24:05.temperatures. 33 degrees was the maximum we saw yesterday but 12

:24:06. > :24:15.months ago... Lewis Hamilton has stopped. That is in turn ten. He

:24:16. > :24:29.hasn't actually completed a lap. RADIO: I've lost gears. He has found

:24:30. > :24:34.something. He has done the old reset and it appears to have worked. It is

:24:35. > :24:42.bizarre how these modern cars do this, so ruled by Ella Electronics.

:24:43. > :24:50.That was a bit of a concern. They will probably want to check it -- so

:24:51. > :24:53.ruled by electronics. It is not uncommon, they have had gearbox

:24:54. > :24:59.problems through the year, mostly for Rosberg, he has lost quite a lot

:25:00. > :25:09.of running time because of gay box issues. But the mechanics are so

:25:10. > :25:15.dominant. -- gearbox issues. Many of you will have seen that his crash

:25:16. > :25:21.helmet is designed slightly different, the yellow and green on

:25:22. > :25:26.the back. He always had yellow but of course very much in memory of his

:25:27. > :25:35.hero Ayrton Senna who he is trying to emulate by winning this race. How

:25:36. > :25:41.is he able to have a new helmet with the FIA regulations? I think as long

:25:42. > :25:47.as the design fundamentally stays as it is, he will get away with it.

:25:48. > :25:54.Drivers have been experimenting. Sebastian Vettel keeps the same

:25:55. > :26:01.design with some subtle changes. They are cottoning on a bit. I was

:26:02. > :26:06.quite old-fashioned, I had the same design from when I first started

:26:07. > :26:13.until my last race. It is a bit like a signature, the helmet is the

:26:14. > :26:21.driver's signature. It is the only visible part we can see. Jennie? A

:26:22. > :26:29.little interesting fact, they actually use the inside, the Phelps,

:26:30. > :26:41.they use the old offcuts from Hamilton's in Sebastian Vettel's

:26:42. > :26:46.helmet -- the felt. They have used the green part from Lewis

:26:47. > :26:51.Hamilton's helmet inside Sebastian Vettel's that is odd!

:26:52. > :27:01.Daniil Kvyat, a big slide and a bit of a wobble for the Russian. He has

:27:02. > :27:07.been putting together a solid second half to the season. He said earlier

:27:08. > :27:12.this weekend how it was a difficult start and a lot of that was down to

:27:13. > :27:19.reliably. He felt that Barcelona was the turning point. What was

:27:20. > :27:26.interesting, he said that last time in Mexico, when he was on for a

:27:27. > :27:31.podium before the safety car, he got that was his best weekend of the

:27:32. > :27:38.year so far. It all came together. He was a bit unlucky on the safety

:27:39. > :27:41.car but he felt he did his job. This is only his second season in Grand

:27:42. > :27:47.Prix racing. He is relatively inexperienced. He is experienced in

:27:48. > :27:53.comparison to the stabbing but it will come to him. And going from

:27:54. > :27:58.Toro Rosso last year with very little expectation to the total

:27:59. > :28:05.expectation of matching up with annual Ricciardo. Also Red Bull

:28:06. > :28:15.wanting to compete at the front. -- Daniel Ricciardo. His long runs

:28:16. > :28:20.yesterday, he was able to do an equivalent long run in terms of pace

:28:21. > :28:25.on the medium and soft tyre the Red Bull seems to switch on the medium

:28:26. > :28:33.tyre but about anybody else. Felipe Massa on the circuit at the moment.

:28:34. > :28:37.This is bigger Rosberg. Let's see if he has any problems with gear

:28:38. > :28:51.changes -- Nico Rosberg. We saw Hamilton come out and stop

:28:52. > :28:59.and go straight back into the pits. This is where he got to, Rosberg

:29:00. > :29:03.goes through without any problems. Can he hold onto pole position

:29:04. > :29:07.today? We will see if he can take it again, as he did last year and he

:29:08. > :29:13.has done on the last four occasions this season. That shot you see more

:29:14. > :29:21.of an idea of the climb up the hill past the buildings as he goes around

:29:22. > :29:27.the corner. It puts that load onto the right-hand side of the car. And

:29:28. > :29:33.now dropping down into the left-hander, quite late apex to get

:29:34. > :29:38.the line correct. And to carry the momentum and get onto flat throttle

:29:39. > :29:49.as soon as you can through the left-hander. You are doing about 205

:29:50. > :29:51.mph into turn 4. That was where Lewis Hamilton spun last year when

:29:52. > :30:02.he was trying to chase down Nico Rosberg. He worked his tyres card

:30:03. > :30:06.but on the second lap he overcooked them a bit. Rosberg went on to take

:30:07. > :30:10.victory. Let's hope we have a great race between them this weekend again

:30:11. > :30:16.because it looks like it will be between the Mercedes team-mates.

:30:17. > :30:23.Rosberg just on the way at the moment. A quick first sector. He has

:30:24. > :30:28.slowed down and will go again. He wants to get a maximum gap and

:30:29. > :30:42.straighten off the final corner. This was Daniel Kvyat a moment ago.

:30:43. > :30:48.What were we looking at? I think we will see quite a lot of out of

:30:49. > :30:51.qualifying itself. We have seen a bit more of the president of the FIA

:30:52. > :30:56.here at Grand Prix in the last couple of events. Bernie Ecclestone

:30:57. > :31:02.tucked in behind him. It is good that he has been attending more.

:31:03. > :31:06.There's a lot of discussion going on in Formula 1 at the moment. Both of

:31:07. > :31:10.them are looking to bring in an independent engine supplier into

:31:11. > :31:18.Formula 1 with a different specification of injured and I am

:31:19. > :31:24.sure part of that... Also being * the tragic events that took place in

:31:25. > :31:36.Paris. The FIA is based in Paris. I am sure he is being asked about that

:31:37. > :31:41.either journalists. Quite often slightly opposite ends of the

:31:42. > :31:45.spectrum in terms of what they are trying to achieve by both want this

:31:46. > :31:48.independent engine to be part of Formula 1. Whether it is putting

:31:49. > :31:52.pressure on the manufacturers to come up with cheaper versions of the

:31:53. > :31:57.current engines is another question. It is a statement that there might

:31:58. > :32:01.want the manufacturers to play ball so they have a wider competitive

:32:02. > :32:07.level across the Lord. Rosberg has gone quicker. The Red Bull scenario

:32:08. > :32:11.has brought all of this to a head wear a team like Red Bull could

:32:12. > :32:16.maybe leave Formula 1 and that is not in the interests of anyone.

:32:17. > :32:28.Rosberg has gone fastest. Do we have any mourners of what is going on?

:32:29. > :32:34.Hamilton has gone back out -- update. They are saying it is a

:32:35. > :32:47.sensor issue. I am at McLaren where if there was a reward for Pickard of

:32:48. > :32:53.the year it would be these McLaren mechanics. They are swarming all

:32:54. > :32:58.over Jenson Button's car. I am told there is nothing specifically wrong

:32:59. > :33:05.but they are working a lot around the front brakes in particular. This

:33:06. > :33:11.is bad news for Jenson. This is really harming his preparation for

:33:12. > :33:16.qualifying. He was complaining about under Steve on the first lap of his

:33:17. > :33:20.run and by lap three the rear had dropped off and he had oversteer

:33:21. > :33:25.bonne entry predominantly due to traction. The juicy what they were

:33:26. > :33:30.changing? There is nothing being changed on the back of the car. It

:33:31. > :33:36.is on the front. It looks around the brake. Area. The team official says

:33:37. > :33:40.they are doing lots of checks but it looks as if they are changing

:33:41. > :33:44.something specific to the brake duct. It could be the brake.

:33:45. > :33:52.Cooling. The energy that goes into it has an effect on tyre temperature

:33:53. > :33:57.and balance. Hamilton is up and running and going to go quick here I

:33:58. > :34:02.think. It is fastest. Immediately he goes about a 10th faster than his

:34:03. > :34:07.team-mate team-mate is out at the same time. Rosberg has put in a

:34:08. > :34:13.faster first sector so we might see a response immediately. Max

:34:14. > :34:19.Verstappen studying information as he gets ready to come back out again

:34:20. > :34:26.to continue to improve the car. Max Verstappen is in a strong fifth

:34:27. > :34:34.place at the moment. We will see of Rosberg can get up to beat

:34:35. > :34:38.Hamilton's time. Maldonado is in between the two Force Indias.

:34:39. > :34:45.Rosberg appears that the top of the chart. On the medium compound tyre.

:34:46. > :34:57.We think the soft tyres were just over a second. Nasr still has brake

:34:58. > :35:01.problems. He is not quite happy. He is still going quite slowly. To

:35:02. > :35:06.being out of the way of Grosjean. He has not had much luck here in the

:35:07. > :35:10.past, Grosjean, he has never scored any points, neither has Maldonado.

:35:11. > :35:17.Two experience drivers but it has never come together for them in

:35:18. > :35:21.Brazil. Hamilton has won nearly everywhere except the circuit.

:35:22. > :35:26.Remember how long it took Ayrton Senna to be victorious here. It

:35:27. > :35:32.seems to favour certain drivers. Hulkenberg is someone that

:35:33. > :35:40.historically has gone and delivered some pretty good results around this

:35:41. > :35:46.track. The driver with the most win s around here is Michael Schumacher.

:35:47. > :35:50.Vettel and Mark Webber as well. Felipe Massa has three pole

:35:51. > :35:58.positions and two directories. Very close to winning the world title at

:35:59. > :36:11.this venue. Massa did what Barry kill another managed. --

:36:12. > :36:15.Barichello. It is Bernie Ecclestone's turn to be grilled by

:36:16. > :36:19.the journalists. The wind is picking up a little bit. It is blowing up

:36:20. > :36:23.and down the start finish straight and it is definitely a little

:36:24. > :36:28.stronger. Not particularly strong but definitely more of a breeze than

:36:29. > :36:35.yesterday. Braking into one is tricky at the best of times. We have

:36:36. > :36:39.only seen Daniel Kvyat with the big lock-up so far. We saw quite a lot

:36:40. > :36:43.of people making mistakes and running wide but the circuit

:36:44. > :36:48.generally isn't slightly better condition. Also with the track

:36:49. > :36:53.temperature 45 degrees that is probably the switch on point for

:36:54. > :36:59.these medium tyres. The tyres are working a bit better. Perez is in

:37:00. > :37:04.the pits as work goes on around the back of his car, it looks like

:37:05. > :37:07.fairly conventional set-up work, playing with brake temperatures and

:37:08. > :37:14.tyre temperatures. Those carbon fibre units, they will adjust the

:37:15. > :37:19.amount of air going through them to adjust the brake temperatures, and

:37:20. > :37:23.it is such a crucial part of the eventual temperature of the wheel

:37:24. > :37:27.rim and the tyre itself. Also the way that the air flows through, the

:37:28. > :37:32.aerodynamics of the car coming from the front wing and flowing through

:37:33. > :37:39.the floor. It is cooling its temperatures for tyres, it is

:37:40. > :37:45.braking its aero. It is a very complex system what happens with the

:37:46. > :37:52.hot here. Max Verstappen, once again he is pushing on. I would think this

:37:53. > :37:55.circuit is going to suit him. He was brilliant at karting. That is where

:37:56. > :38:06.a lot of his success has been in the past. I have just had a surge. A

:38:07. > :38:19.surge from the turbo when he up shifted to eat gear. That was

:38:20. > :38:23.Vettel. Vettel giving decent feedback to Ferrari, as expected.

:38:24. > :38:30.Let us see what this lap time is like for a Verstappen. He stays

:38:31. > :38:37.fit. No improvement in lap time. The best has definitely gone from that

:38:38. > :38:40.tyre. It looked as if it were starting to have worked quite a

:38:41. > :38:45.little bit. The first person to go on to the first tyre is Daniel

:38:46. > :38:50.Kvyat. We will keep an eye on him and see what lap time he can

:38:51. > :38:56.achieve. Vettel improves his lap times likely but he is still three

:38:57. > :39:00.tenths down on Hamilton and six tenths down on Rosberg. Still a

:39:01. > :39:07.performance difference between Mercedes and Ferrari. Chris asks,

:39:08. > :39:12.when does a slipstream become dirty air and vice versa? I guess it

:39:13. > :39:17.depends if it is a straight or corner? It also depends what car you

:39:18. > :39:21.are following because some cars have dirtier air behind which can have a

:39:22. > :39:26.bigger effect and sometimes it affects the front and sometimes the

:39:27. > :39:30.rear depending on where you are. Certainly a slipstream down the

:39:31. > :39:40.street helps you approach the next corner to perhaps be able to open a

:39:41. > :39:48.club that a. Dirty Atmos -- air. Even though you are turning. You can

:39:49. > :39:53.still use the slipstream. If you have to lift that is when you lose.

:39:54. > :40:08.We have 25 minutes to go in this final practice session from

:40:09. > :40:13.Interlagos in Brazil. Hamilton has the fastest first sector of anybody.

:40:14. > :40:20.He has not changed tyre. He is still on a 7 lap used medium tyre. It is a

:40:21. > :40:24.quick lap coming up by Hamilton. Daniel Ricciardo was on circuit at

:40:25. > :40:28.the moment. He will have a ten place grid penalty because of the

:40:29. > :40:33.engineers using this weekend, a revised tarmac in June, so they are

:40:34. > :40:39.looking for more performance from that. Hamilton was on a quick lap

:40:40. > :40:44.but he has gone off. It looks as if it is when you come down towards the

:40:45. > :40:49.end of the lap, in the last sector. He is well and truly off the

:40:50. > :40:57.circuit. It is the crossover between Sector 2 and Sector 3. You can lose

:40:58. > :41:01.because it is a traction corner proceeding that I do have to change

:41:02. > :41:05.direction so you can lose the stability of the rear. I have seen

:41:06. > :41:09.quite a few people get on oversteer moment as they go from one direction

:41:10. > :41:14.to the other and the circuit drops down and away from you. He is not

:41:15. > :41:19.having the perfect day so far. He managed a few laps together and went

:41:20. > :41:24.fastest. That has been beaten by Rosberg. Let us see if we can pick

:41:25. > :41:30.it up. It was quite early in the corner he lost the car. Just as he

:41:31. > :41:35.got towards the apex. This is where you heat up the rear tyres quite a

:41:36. > :41:40.lot. It was just as he turned down. Unusual to see the back-end braking

:41:41. > :41:45.away. That does not happen very often to Hamilton that he cannot

:41:46. > :41:49.save it. Especially in this year's Mercedes. He was trying to get a

:41:50. > :41:55.gear so there may have been some influencing factor as well. Jenson

:41:56. > :42:01.Button on track as well. Nobody has done a time on the soft tyre yet.

:42:02. > :42:09.Button is still on the medium compound. The man who won here in

:42:10. > :42:16.2012 gets to grips with this McLaren Honda. That was the last victory for

:42:17. > :42:19.McLaren. It is too long. Let us hope that Honda come up with the goods

:42:20. > :42:23.and McLaren can match that next year and bridges a race winning car.

:42:24. > :42:29.Someone asked when we think the hybrid engines will be as fast if

:42:30. > :42:36.not faster when pre-hybrid. They are, the engines themselves are much

:42:37. > :42:39.more powerful than the V8s of the previous era. I suppose you're

:42:40. > :42:44.talking about overall lap time and here there is a chance they could be

:42:45. > :42:49.faster than that previous era and it will not be long before they are on

:42:50. > :42:54.the pace. The engines are definitely stronger. Joining us from the pit

:42:55. > :42:59.wall is Christian Horner team principal of Red Bull. You have had

:43:00. > :43:03.the chance to analyse Daniel Ricciardo's engine. What have you

:43:04. > :43:08.learned? A lot of data has been looked at. We have decided to stick

:43:09. > :43:18.with that engine for the rest of the weekend. It is a very modest

:43:19. > :43:22.upgrade. It is difficult to verify how much of an improvement it

:43:23. > :43:29.actually is. Presumably Daniel Kvyat will stick with the older engine?

:43:30. > :43:32.Absolutely. Danny is about to go out on the soft tyre. Talk us through

:43:33. > :43:39.the analysis of the tyres from yesterday. Last year the soft tyre

:43:40. > :43:44.was foldable. Yesterday looked as though you were getting more laps

:43:45. > :43:48.out of it. Absolutely. Daniel Ricciardo has done a lot more on the

:43:49. > :43:54.harder tyre today. Very consistently so. With his penalty he is focused

:43:55. > :43:59.more on the race because he has to take that ten place penalty wherever

:44:00. > :44:04.he qualifies. Daniel Kvyat had a big lock-up on his first run which

:44:05. > :44:09.effectively destroyed that set. That is why he has gone out earlier than

:44:10. > :44:14.planned on the softer of the two compounds. Based on what you have

:44:15. > :44:23.seen so far, two stopped or three strop? On the cusp of two.

:44:24. > :44:28.Overtaking is not impossible. Some may try to brave it out on the two

:44:29. > :44:31.stop. One thing I noticed from the long runs that Daniel Kvyat did

:44:32. > :44:36.yesterday between the soft and the medium he was able to equal his

:44:37. > :44:40.average lap time over about ten laps with the medium. It seems as if you

:44:41. > :44:46.are making that tyre work may be better than the soft. Is that fair?

:44:47. > :44:58.I think so. We are relatively gentle on the tyres. Nothing escapes your

:44:59. > :45:04.eagle eye. It is a good observation. On the kerbs, have they been

:45:05. > :45:08.reporting much? It seems to be affecting the lap time? They are

:45:09. > :45:15.being more tentative with the kerbs, particularly with turn ten.

:45:16. > :45:20.We have had a couple of spins. Nothing too Major. You are doing a

:45:21. > :45:22.little bit of work around the front brake. On Daniel Ricciardo's car.

:45:23. > :45:32.Why? Just trying to make sure there is

:45:33. > :45:36.enough cooling in the breaks, just fine-tuning and getting everything

:45:37. > :45:43.as comfortable as possible. You work fourth and fifth last time out in

:45:44. > :45:49.Mexico. What can we expect today? I think Mercedes will be on the front

:45:50. > :45:54.row, Ferrari and Williams, when they turn it up in qualy it will be

:45:55. > :46:01.difficult to get on terms with them. We are probably looking, if we

:46:02. > :46:06.can sneak third row, that would be great but more likely fourth row.

:46:07. > :46:12.Thank you for joining us and best of luck. Christian Horner, team

:46:13. > :46:17.principal of Red Bull making preparations towards qualifying.

:46:18. > :46:21.This is Fernando Alonso who missed out on a number of laps yesterday

:46:22. > :46:27.with a power unit failure, spinning on his own oil. He is getting some

:46:28. > :46:32.more laps on this occasion, just a bit quicker than Jenson Button.

:46:33. > :46:41.Alonso has done 12 laps, some have done up to 14. Bottas has completed

:46:42. > :46:45.18. It is a shorter lap at 2.6 miles or 4.3 kilometres so they get

:46:46. > :46:52.through a few more laps than at other circuits will stop that was a

:46:53. > :46:57.big attraction limited slide. That will be a factor tomorrow with the

:46:58. > :47:00.cooler track temperatures yesterday, it wasn't really an

:47:01. > :47:06.issue, we did not see the drop-off from the tyres that we had last year

:47:07. > :47:10.but with the temperatures increasing, you are seeing a bit

:47:11. > :47:18.more where and some training on some of the cars. That might lean towards

:47:19. > :47:25.a three-stop race if it continues like this. Daniil Kvyat has gone

:47:26. > :47:35.third on that set of soft tyres. But it is not as big a jump as he might

:47:36. > :47:42.have liked. He has been talking over the radio and he is still struggling

:47:43. > :47:49.for grip in the final sector. That is where he is now. Out of the

:47:50. > :47:52.hairpin and the flat out left-hander into 11 and the final reel corner as

:47:53. > :48:01.they accelerate onto the long uphill drag. Trying to get a second lap out

:48:02. > :48:09.these tyres. His middle sector was not great. A fraction faster,

:48:10. > :48:14.doesn't change his position. I am surprised the tyres held up for a

:48:15. > :48:19.second reasonably good lap and temperatures of 46 degrees. It

:48:20. > :48:24.suggests he did not get the first sector right on the first lap.

:48:25. > :48:29.Rosberg and Hamilton were able to improve on that next lap on the

:48:30. > :48:35.first sector but in the middle sector, with all the corners, the

:48:36. > :48:39.tyre did not have the grip. When he maximises the build-up of the

:48:40. > :48:44.temperature for the first lap, he will be able to exploit it a bit

:48:45. > :48:54.more. The fans are certainly enjoying themselves. Just 16 minutes

:48:55. > :49:03.left in this final practice. One person says, shame to here Kristian

:49:04. > :49:07.Herman -- Christian Horner saying overtaking is not always possible,

:49:08. > :49:11.and it should be possible everywhere. It does depend on the

:49:12. > :49:18.layout but generally it is good to hear. That race that springs to mind

:49:19. > :49:27.when Sebastian Vettel won the World championship having dropped to the

:49:28. > :49:32.tail of the field. It is a circuit that has given some fantastic

:49:33. > :49:36.overtaking, I remember Juan Pablo on the diving down the inside of

:49:37. > :49:43.Michael Schumacher into the first corner -- Juan Pablo Montoya. It is

:49:44. > :49:50.reasonably wide as well and you can get away with going into a corner a

:49:51. > :49:54.bit too fast. I think it is something that from the Red Bull

:49:55. > :49:59.point of view is very much triggered by their straight-line speed,

:50:00. > :50:03.whether they have enough to stay in the toe at the beginning and then

:50:04. > :50:09.use DRS to overtake. It looks like it will stay dry for qualifying but

:50:10. > :50:16.there might be thunderstorms later this afternoon and the weather can

:50:17. > :50:22.change quite rapidly here. On Sunday, a similar story, a bit more

:50:23. > :50:26.cloud, it will be cooler. The rain might come in after the race but

:50:27. > :50:32.every chance of a shower before that. 2012 was the last rain

:50:33. > :50:37.affected race. We have had other sessions with rain at 2012 was the

:50:38. > :50:43.last time in the race and that was the last time we had a safety car

:50:44. > :50:48.around this track. It has a fairly high level of probability for safety

:50:49. > :50:54.car. There are a couple of places where if a car stops, a safety car

:50:55. > :51:02.would be required to move it out of the way. Coming back out on the soft

:51:03. > :51:04.tyre is Daniel Ricciardo. This will be his qualifying simulation,

:51:05. > :51:11.everybody else is leaving it quite late before putting on the soft

:51:12. > :51:19.tyres. You only get two laps. Maximum. With it being a short

:51:20. > :51:22.circuit, the bigger factor is not necessarily how close to the end of

:51:23. > :51:27.the session, it is whether you go out in a group and you might have

:51:28. > :51:34.traffic. Not for Ricciardo because he is the only person on the circuit

:51:35. > :51:39.at the moment! It would be just his luck if he came round the last

:51:40. > :51:44.corner and there is a stream of cars coming onto the circuit. The track

:51:45. > :51:51.temperature is now 47, we might get up to 50 for qualifying. He builds

:51:52. > :52:00.up for the lap and this is really where his next lap begins. You try

:52:01. > :52:05.to square off the final corner and go a bit slower into the corner to

:52:06. > :52:11.maximise your speed out and carry it all the way to the start of the lap

:52:12. > :52:17.and into Turn 1. He stayed in third gear, a nice clean run. Kisses the

:52:18. > :52:29.kerb on the right. That allows him to come through towards turn for.

:52:30. > :52:33.And he was flat through there. In fourth gear, down to the bottom of

:52:34. > :52:39.the track. Very nice because the kerb rolls away from you. It is easy

:52:40. > :52:46.to lose a bit of time. Now through one of the best corners on the

:52:47. > :52:52.circuit, very quick, you can cut -- can't cut it any more. It is all

:52:53. > :52:59.about balance. A very technical section. Ricciardo desperate not to

:53:00. > :53:05.waste time. This is where Hamilton went off earlier. A bit of Opus Dei

:53:06. > :53:10.on the entry but kept in it. Too much understeer there, did not at

:53:11. > :53:18.the apex and he has lost a bit of time and momentum up the hill. Let's

:53:19. > :53:25.see what it is like. This will be quicker than earlier on the soft

:53:26. > :53:29.tyre, second fastest, 1:13.5. Still not faster than Mercedes have done

:53:30. > :53:35.on the harder tyre so it goes to show that even with a bit more of a

:53:36. > :53:39.second from the soft tyre, he still can't go faster than the Mercedes.

:53:40. > :53:49.Evidence that Mercedes are in great shape. The Sauber on track is Felipe

:53:50. > :53:53.Nasr on the soft tyre. He is going for a qualifying simulation and he

:53:54. > :54:02.also has a pretty clear lap. A few Moore cars on track, six, that he is

:54:03. > :54:07.clear coming down into Turn 1. Just a hint of lock-up which is enough to

:54:08. > :54:14.make him miss the apex. And a big slide in Turn 3. He was trying to

:54:15. > :54:20.take it flat out but it is not as easy this year as previously. This

:54:21. > :54:24.will not be a great first sector. Not even his best of the session.

:54:25. > :54:32.And he was on the harder tyre earlier. A few mistakes through the

:54:33. > :54:44.Senate as. He will try to get it back -- Senna S. It is not going to

:54:45. > :54:51.be the lap he wanted. This is quite an important lap for Felipe Nasr and

:54:52. > :54:56.everybody in that mid-grid area. Because the circuit is so short, the

:54:57. > :55:01.distance between positions is small, especially for them because

:55:02. > :55:07.they could get something out of the weekend. They have been performing

:55:08. > :55:12.better, 14th at the moment for Nasr but this lap will not be one of his

:55:13. > :55:19.best. It will move him up, but to seventh place with a load of cars

:55:20. > :55:23.yet to put the soft tyre on. Sauber have a pretty good record here.

:55:24. > :55:28.Hamilton is on track on the soft tyre will stop this was the mistake.

:55:29. > :55:37.A lot of drivers yesterday did that. It is just when they are starting to

:55:38. > :55:45.up the shift and there is a lot of torque through the rear wheels.

:55:46. > :55:56.Later on he had the big snap and he lost the time. This is the second

:55:57. > :56:00.lap on it. Hamilton has just taken six tenths out of everybody in the

:56:01. > :56:04.middle sector. He is on for a storming lap as Ricciardo comes

:56:05. > :56:11.through. Hamilton is fastest onto 1:12.0. Some way off what we saw

:56:12. > :56:19.last year but the fastest lap of the weekend so far. Hulkenberg is coming

:56:20. > :56:27.up the hill. 11th at the moment. This will jump him up the order to

:56:28. > :56:37.third. He gained 1.3 seconds but probably on a little less fuel than

:56:38. > :56:42.earlier. Yesterday about one second was the difference between the

:56:43. > :56:49.medium and the soft. Hamilton might not have got the best out of the

:56:50. > :56:54.medium tyre but 1:12.0... Rosberg will have to do a good lap to get on

:56:55. > :57:00.terms. Looking at the speeds across the start finish line, it is Massa,

:57:01. > :57:06.Raikkonen, Grosjean and then Kvyat and Hamilton. It gives you an idea

:57:07. > :57:14.that the Mercedes is running plenty of downforce. Nico Rosberg is about

:57:15. > :57:18.to start his lap. He is on those soft tyres so we will know the

:57:19. > :57:28.difference between Hamilton and Rosberg soon. Verstappen kept it

:57:29. > :57:31.need through Turn 3. Plunging downhill for a moment and levelling

:57:32. > :57:40.off and beginning to climb back up the hill again. Into Ferradura, this

:57:41. > :57:51.wonderful corner. Tightening up, this is where his karting pedigree

:57:52. > :57:56.comes in. Turn ten, it is easy to lock-up and inside wheel. You tend

:57:57. > :58:05.to turn the wheel straighter than you would like. He was held up on

:58:06. > :58:12.this lap. Rosberg has set the fastest first sector, quicker than

:58:13. > :58:19.Hamilton. Let's watch Max Verstappen up the hill to complete his lap. He

:58:20. > :58:26.goes into fifth place for the moment. Perez following but we are

:58:27. > :58:33.keeping an eye on Rosberg. Laws though -- Alonso jumps up to

:58:34. > :58:39.seventh. That is pretty good. Rosberg, he missed out. Where did he

:58:40. > :58:44.lose that time? He was one tenth of Hamilton in the second and third

:58:45. > :58:52.sector. That is where the time went. Somebody locked up ahead of

:58:53. > :58:59.Carlos Sainz but he has gone eight. Not as quick as Verstappen but less

:59:00. > :59:03.track experience. Maldonado has been exciting to watch as ever, a bit of

:59:04. > :59:08.a lock-up going gone. He was a bit off Grosjean yesterday and the team

:59:09. > :59:14.were hoping he could find some pace this morning. Lotus has not looked

:59:15. > :59:19.that stable when you are on board with Maldonado and also Romain

:59:20. > :59:22.Grosjean, they were always fighting with the steering wheel. The car

:59:23. > :59:28.looks to have gripped but when it loses it, it is quite reactive and

:59:29. > :59:41.difficult to drive. A perfect place to pick up a total and he goes into

:59:42. > :59:46.fifth. -- a tow. A very good answer to the question we had earlier about

:59:47. > :59:52.the effect of the slipstream. Very beneficial for Maldonado. Whether he

:59:53. > :59:58.can do that in qualifying is another matter. Just over five minutes left

:59:59. > :00:01.in final practice. Felipe Massa is 10th but that is not really where

:00:02. > :00:07.you would expect the Williams. Sebastian Vettel is third but a big

:00:08. > :00:14.gap between him and Mercedes, nearly seven tenths off the top. Bottas

:00:15. > :00:17.goes fifth, more promising Fon Williams but a big gap again to

:00:18. > :00:22.Mercedes and he is right in there with Hulkenberg in the Force India

:00:23. > :00:26.who loves this track and that is a pretty outstanding lap but just a

:00:27. > :00:27.couple of tenths quicker than Perez so Williams might have their hands

:00:28. > :00:37.full with Force India. Verstappen has been pushed down to

:00:38. > :00:44.ten with all these improvements around him. Felipe Massa is having a

:00:45. > :00:48.bit of a tough weekend so far. But it has improved slightly but he is

:00:49. > :00:54.only in the 18th so that is not great. He will be disappointed with

:00:55. > :00:58.that. He has the Saubers head of him. That is the guys that are

:00:59. > :01:06.usually fighting to get out of qualifying one. That was a good lap.

:01:07. > :01:17.He has obviously phoned some pounds. Verstappen. Fully be Massa is

:01:18. > :01:24.building up for another lap again. Thirsty. I do not think it is

:01:25. > :01:28.because he is thirsty. It is because of the driver weight. He might be on

:01:29. > :01:33.the limit of being the correct driver weight that are measured out

:01:34. > :01:37.at the sessions so he will be drinking quite a lot. I wonder if

:01:38. > :01:42.Maldonado is going to be able to find any more pace. It does not look

:01:43. > :01:49.like it. His first sector is not as quick as it was. You could see it

:01:50. > :01:54.sliding around more. Struggling to get the power down. That is what

:01:55. > :02:00.goes away, the ability to get the traction off the corners.

:02:01. > :02:14.Maldonado's lap not as quick. A lot of front locking. Grosjean is ahead

:02:15. > :02:19.of Maldonado, but only just. Vettel has done a better sector than his

:02:20. > :02:24.previous best. Is there any chance? Ferrari has been looking good on its

:02:25. > :02:29.soft tyres. He did a good long stint on them yesterday. The second sector

:02:30. > :02:34.is not better than he had previously done. I do not think it is going to

:02:35. > :02:38.be better. It does not look like it. The middle sector is very tough

:02:39. > :02:43.because it puts so much energy into the tyre and the performance

:02:44. > :02:51.drop-off is quite high. Vettel, it is not quicker than before. It

:02:52. > :02:54.proves that they are able. Jenson Button has so much under steel at

:02:55. > :03:01.the moment. He has been cleaning about understeer at the beginning of

:03:02. > :03:07.runs. He seems to struggle with the front. Remind us how you can see

:03:08. > :03:13.that in the car. The steering lock, when he turns the steering, quickly

:03:14. > :03:18.it goes towards the apex. When you are at 90 degrees you tend to have

:03:19. > :03:22.too much understeer which means you cannot maintain the car in all of

:03:23. > :03:27.the slow corners. That means you are later going on to the throttle which

:03:28. > :03:31.means you put more Lord onto the tyre and you overheat the rear tyre

:03:32. > :03:38.and your traction gets worst. Ever decreasing circles that lay. It

:03:39. > :03:43.looks as though most people have done their flying lap and their

:03:44. > :03:50.qualifying simulation. If this was qualifying we would have lost both

:03:51. > :03:54.Saubers, Jenson Button and both of the Marussias from the first part of

:03:55. > :04:00.qualifying. It does not always work like that. Things can change.

:04:01. > :04:05.Stevens is a little bit quicker than Rossi although Rossi has done a

:04:06. > :04:09.better lap. Stevens is doing well because Rossi has at least given the

:04:10. > :04:15.circuit in the past. Stevens has been a little bit quicker. Maldonado

:04:16. > :04:19.has been out wide somewhere. We saw that from one of our other angles.

:04:20. > :04:26.No damage done. He has gone back on track. Sainz is in 50s by all of

:04:27. > :04:30.those improvements around him. Massa is back into the pits. It looks as

:04:31. > :04:39.though Sauber going to struggle to get out of Q1. We hope they can

:04:40. > :04:42.fight for it at least got a few cars going out onto circuit with a few

:04:43. > :04:49.seconds to go, purely to do a practised art at the end of the pit

:04:50. > :04:54.lane. Bottas in the Williams. Fifth in the standings at the moment.

:04:55. > :04:59.Williams with that podium finish for Bottas last time out in Mexico. A

:05:00. > :05:04.good reading of the strategy. Are they going to be able to get on the

:05:05. > :05:09.podium again? A tough race last year, but Max, the seat belt strap

:05:10. > :05:16.was loose, which is very unusual. He had a long pit stop as they tried to

:05:17. > :05:20.cure that. They seem to have a set of tyres that did not come in at all

:05:21. > :05:25.and he ended up finishing intense as his team-mate ended up in third with

:05:26. > :05:30.the other Williams. It was the day of mixed fortunes for the team here

:05:31. > :05:35.last year. Across the line, chequered flag, end of session, but

:05:36. > :05:40.the actual complete this in fifth. One of the drivers doing a practised

:05:41. > :05:49.art was this man, Raikkonen. Another one was was Rosberg. He complained

:05:50. > :05:54.about torque delivery. That is something he was talking about

:05:55. > :05:58.yesterday. They do not seem to have got the consistency in their starts

:05:59. > :06:03.they would like. Hamilton had problems earlier in the season and

:06:04. > :06:07.Rosberg on a couple of occasions. Yesterday Rosberg was complaining

:06:08. > :06:11.about that. They do not have any problems in terms of pace, the

:06:12. > :06:18.quarters of a second faster than in a buddy is here today and surely

:06:19. > :06:23.pole position. A big oversteer connection but he managed to get it

:06:24. > :06:26.sorted and back on the track. A big advantage for Mercedes. It looks as

:06:27. > :06:31.though is going to be a fight between the two of them. Hamilton

:06:32. > :06:40.trying to break the sequence that Rosberg is on of scoring pole

:06:41. > :06:48.positions at the last four events. Vettel is for fast this. They have

:06:49. > :06:52.to focus on race pace and see if there is some way to get more out of

:06:53. > :06:57.the long stints on the tyres to give them an advantage. If it is between

:06:58. > :07:10.the two strop and the Maxtor, perhaps they at -- Ferrari will go

:07:11. > :07:27.for two. Vettel was bowed fastest. -- third. Not necessarily a good

:07:28. > :07:31.track for Toro Rosso, but that was a good lap for Verstappen which put

:07:32. > :07:36.him ahead of Daniel Ricciardo and Daniel Kvyat, both of the Red Bulls

:07:37. > :07:45.outside of the top ten, which shows you how important the power unit is

:07:46. > :07:53.at Interlagos. Alonso, a good lap from him. The two Spaniards

:07:54. > :08:04.together. Jenson Button struggling with understeer. There is no doubt

:08:05. > :08:10.that Mercedes are a step ahead of everybody else. Hamilton and Rosberg

:08:11. > :08:14.separated by less than a 10th of a second. It promises to be a very

:08:15. > :08:18.intriguing battle to see which of them will take proposition in a few

:08:19. > :08:24.hours. An interesting session for Hamilton.

:08:25. > :08:28.Not easy. Gear box problems and a spin but showing great speed and he

:08:29. > :08:35.topped the time sheets. The temperature is continuing to rise.

:08:36. > :08:38.The cloud is building. There is some talk of thunderstorms this

:08:39. > :08:41.afternoon. If you have ever watched Formula 1 at Interlagos before you

:08:42. > :08:45.will know how quickly things can change and that is one of the many

:08:46. > :08:54.things that makes it exciting round here. We have qualifying live for

:08:55. > :08:58.you. We will have Sebastian Vettel giving his thoughts on the season.

:08:59. > :09:04.Thank you for your company. Goodbye.
