:00:07. > :00:25.Previously on Formula 1. Hamilton wins. An accident! Incredible.

:00:26. > :00:28.Fantastic show, guys. Race 16. Boston, USA.

:00:29. > :01:30.It has been 42 years since Jackie Stewart won his third World

:01:31. > :01:32.Championship, he is the only British driver to have won the treble, so

:01:33. > :01:41.far. Stewart holds the line and it is

:01:42. > :01:43.almost a dead heat. Nobody had ever seen the finish of a motor race like

:01:44. > :01:58.that. I was very proud to have done that

:01:59. > :02:04.and then would like to think in a little way that they hope Lewis

:02:05. > :02:09.might be as proud as I felt. Jackie Stewart is the new world champion on

:02:10. > :02:16.Formula 1. I like to see him in a car, he sits in a car well, looks

:02:17. > :02:25.like a cosy week kit -- cosy we cockpit. Great natural talent. Good

:02:26. > :02:32.car control. Sometimes overdrive is. By winning his next World

:02:33. > :02:37.Championship he might back off a little bit, if he does that, he

:02:38. > :02:42.might go faster and he might earn a lot more World Championships. One of

:02:43. > :02:46.the great drives at Silverstone, Lewis Hamilton wins the British

:02:47. > :02:52.Grand Prix. And the boyhood dream comes true for Lewis Hamilton. His

:02:53. > :02:58.first world championship was very iffy towards the end, could have

:02:59. > :03:05.gone either way. 2008 Formula 1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton! The

:03:06. > :03:12.second world championship. Lewis Hamilton is the 2014 world champion.

:03:13. > :03:18.World champion! My God, can believe it, thank you so much, guys.

:03:19. > :03:23.Sometimes I think he is a little bit aggressive when he might not need to

:03:24. > :03:28.be but on the other hand that is why he has popped out in front of his

:03:29. > :03:32.team-mate. They go side-by-side with Hamilton but Hamilton just able to

:03:33. > :03:38.fend him off. I think he has matured very well, he has delivered

:03:39. > :03:41.extremely well, he made a decision to go to Mercedes-Benz exactly on

:03:42. > :03:48.the right time, it was his decision and nobody else's. The right

:03:49. > :03:52.decisions at the right time. It is true all of us who have won multiple

:03:53. > :03:59.world champion, it is not always to do with our driving. Fantastic show,

:04:00. > :04:06.flawless all weekend, as always. I hope he wins on Sunday, I would like

:04:07. > :04:07.to share that with him. What a truly magical season this is turning into

:04:08. > :04:16.for Lewis Hamilton. Well the champagne before and for

:04:17. > :04:19.Lewis Hamilton today? Tank you for joining us at the circuit of the

:04:20. > :04:24.Americas in Austin, Texas at what has become an extraordinary weekend

:04:25. > :04:28.for Formula 1. Lewis Hamilton gets his first opportunity to become a

:04:29. > :04:31.triple world champion, to join Sir Jackie Stewart but the adverts

:04:32. > :04:37.weather conditions really have caused all manner of problems. They

:04:38. > :04:42.have and the changing weather looks like and will play a part, the first

:04:43. > :04:47.time we have seen some weekend. Our whole wide range of strategies that

:04:48. > :04:52.could be played out. Turning out to be a controversial Austin Grand

:04:53. > :04:55.Prix. Sessions have had to be cancelled, we had to run qualifying

:04:56. > :05:02.this morning and in qualifying, QC was cancelled. The amount of

:05:03. > :05:07.standing water. -- Q3 was cancelled. The cars couldn't deal with the

:05:08. > :05:12.water on the racetrack. Qualifying did eventually take place, we are

:05:13. > :05:15.about to start the Grand Prix and the conditions look like they will

:05:16. > :05:19.dry up. The sun is about to come out. On behalf of Iain Lewers on

:05:20. > :05:24.track this weekend, he looks sublime. He has had an incredible

:05:25. > :05:29.year, got on top of the year is that he had in qualifying last year. This

:05:30. > :05:34.year has been a different story together and has tried to hang in

:05:35. > :05:49.there but Lewis has just had the upper hand.

:05:50. > :06:03.the Silver Arrows are kings of the Constructors' Championship. They

:06:04. > :06:08.clinched the title in Russia a fortnight ago.

:06:09. > :06:15.As we were talking about, the weather has been all over the place

:06:16. > :06:16.as the sun peeks through the clouds but qualifying this morning was a

:06:17. > :06:22.very damp affair. Carlos Sainz put his car on the

:06:23. > :06:26.white line in qualifying which meant no grip and no chance, he hit the

:06:27. > :06:31.barriers and are hoping his team can get his Toro Rosso ready in time for

:06:32. > :06:35.the race. Valtteri Bottas was one of many drivers who lost control in Q2,

:06:36. > :06:40.the rain fell heavier and the finish rider failed to reach the final

:06:41. > :06:46.session of qualifying for only the second time this year. Sebastian

:06:47. > :06:51.Vettel did this in Q1. He got out in time and managed to get into Q2.

:06:52. > :06:55.Nico Rosberg had gone quicker than Lewis Hamilton in that session and

:06:56. > :06:59.as the rain worsened conditions were deemed too dangerous to work so

:07:00. > :07:03.there wasn't a top ten shoot out on the grid was shaped on how it

:07:04. > :07:07.finished in Q2, meaning Rosberg took his third consecutive pole position.

:07:08. > :07:13.Lewis Hamilton will not mind Rosberg in front, the two times he has won

:07:14. > :07:20.on the circuit he has darted from second.

:07:21. > :07:26.The first time both Force India cars have started on that role since

:07:27. > :08:06.rain. David, those penalties for Ferrari

:08:07. > :08:11.only add to help Lewis, but how important is it to get pole position

:08:12. > :08:18.here? Lewis has won from pole position -- second position twice.

:08:19. > :08:22.When it comes to wheel-to-wheel action, Lewis has more often than

:08:23. > :08:29.not, on top against Nico Rosberg, the thing that should support Nico

:08:30. > :08:33.is that it makes it damp and it makes it difficult for Lewis to find

:08:34. > :08:36.a way past. The track is drying out and you get a dry mind quite quickly

:08:37. > :08:42.out here. The overall track temperature has been quite low and

:08:43. > :08:45.that will mean it will take longer than we would have seen in the

:08:46. > :08:48.past, that said, we have been watching some of the mechanics

:08:49. > :08:51.trying their pet boxes and they have done it quickly, we have got to

:08:52. > :08:57.imagine they will be getting onto slicks. Do you think the key is

:08:58. > :09:03.getting the timing right from going from wets to intermediates. That is

:09:04. > :09:05.the key, something that is so random, one lap can make the

:09:06. > :09:10.difference between getting it right and wrong and it is making that

:09:11. > :09:14.decision at Petain. There will be some real opportunity. Even somebody

:09:15. > :09:22.like Ferrari could come through. We can hear from Tom in the pit

:09:23. > :09:25.lane. Before I talk about strategy, a quick word about two drivers,

:09:26. > :09:29.Carlos Sainz is in his car ready to take to the grid after his crash in

:09:30. > :09:34.Q1, Toro Rosso have to replace the front end but that is OK. Valtteri

:09:35. > :09:40.Bottas has a new gearbox but he will be OK as well. What about strategy,

:09:41. > :09:43.sunshine, strong tail wind down the pit straight, the conditions now, if

:09:44. > :09:48.we have no more rain before the start are for an intermediate tyres

:09:49. > :09:52.start and then it is going to be a case of getting the dry tyres on as

:09:53. > :09:58.quickly as possible and making as you stops as possible to the end of

:09:59. > :09:59.the race. Looks like it will be starting an intermediates, let's get

:10:00. > :10:06.the scene on the grid. Lewis on the cusp of winning three

:10:07. > :10:10.World Championship, you know something about that stop

:10:11. > :10:14.significant for a driver? It certainly has but be careful today,

:10:15. > :10:18.it will be a difficult race, they will start on intermediates, who

:10:19. > :10:22.takes first chance to go on slicks? They might win the race, they might

:10:23. > :10:28.go all the way as well. Lewis has to be careful but he has the chance to

:10:29. > :10:32.win, let's wait and see. You just did your lap to get onto the grid,

:10:33. > :10:38.how much standing water was there? Not too bad, no obvious rivers,

:10:39. > :10:43.nothing to be concerned about. I assume we will do our normal race

:10:44. > :10:46.start, go on the intermediates and if this weather stays with the wind,

:10:47. > :10:48.we will put on slicks at some point. You could have a great afternoon

:10:49. > :10:57.today. Could be a lot of fun. Good skills in qualifying, how was

:10:58. > :11:02.your car on intermediates because you have not had much experience on

:11:03. > :11:07.those? I don't know, we did one lap on Friday morning, seemed OK now,

:11:08. > :11:10.usually we are stronger on the fool wets, a bit of a shame that it dried

:11:11. > :11:14.up and I like the full wet conditions more but that is what it

:11:15. > :11:17.is and we have to race like this. You have to make the final:

:11:18. > :11:25.Crossover Button terms of lap time, what did we looking at? We have some

:11:26. > :11:30.numbers in our head, but all the other cars around but on Friday it

:11:31. > :11:35.took time for the track to dry up but today, a bit of sunshine, strong

:11:36. > :11:42.gusts, so I feel like we will be onto slicks quite soon. Having a

:11:43. > :11:45.look at the grand, your engineer saying no rain expected, when the

:11:46. > :11:55.think the time will be to switch over to the slicks? On Friday it

:11:56. > :12:01.took a while to go to dry tyres. Although it was raining and the cars

:12:02. > :12:04.are running, you would think it is the most critical part of the race

:12:05. > :12:08.to make sure we go on to the slicks at the right time because you can

:12:09. > :12:10.gain a lot and was a lot. You have proved you are good in these

:12:11. > :12:14.conditions, looking forward to this one? I hope we can enjoy the race

:12:15. > :12:20.and everything goes according to plan and we should be strong.

:12:21. > :12:25.Another strong performance in qualifying, really difficult

:12:26. > :12:29.conditions but operate for the race? For sure not so much running

:12:30. > :12:33.yesterday so very happy with qualifying, we have quite a good car

:12:34. > :12:36.and we have dizzy with the intermediates but it will be very

:12:37. > :12:42.interesting. Does it put you under pressure that you have qualifying

:12:43. > :12:43.and the race in the same day? It is like S3, so it brings back old

:12:44. > :12:56.memories. -- for military. Nine of these drivers have had any

:12:57. > :13:03.dry running this weekend but the big question is, can Batman, can Lewis

:13:04. > :13:22.Hamilton make this the land of the three -- can Batman. This is the

:13:23. > :13:40.Lewis Hamilton's opportunity to earn his third world title lies before

:13:41. > :13:44.him in Austin, he starts on the right-hand side as we look at it,

:13:45. > :13:47.Nico Rosberg has the controlling position from pole position but

:13:48. > :13:51.plenty of space heading up towards the first corner to make something

:13:52. > :13:58.happen. Very long hold. What's going on here? Ready to go now, the red

:13:59. > :14:01.lights come on, lights out and away legal, Rosberg against Hamilton,

:14:02. > :14:05.even start, Ricciardo going with them but Hamilton has the chance to

:14:06. > :14:09.get up the inside, he has got the chance, Rosberg trying to go

:14:10. > :14:13.wheel-to-wheel, they run why, Rosberg is pushed out, that might

:14:14. > :14:17.give the Red Bulls a chance to join in, Rosberg squeezed down to fourth

:14:18. > :14:24.place, Hamilton worked that to his advantage. The Russian has gone into

:14:25. > :14:27.second ahead of Ricciardo and Rosberg is back in fifth, been

:14:28. > :14:33.passed by Perez and chased by Hulkenberg. That is what desperation

:14:34. > :14:35.will do, he tried as the litter hang on to that position on the run-in

:14:36. > :14:44.turn on and Hamilton on the racing line. Really up against it, the Red

:14:45. > :14:48.Bulls are right on Hamilton's tail. Yellow flag, must have been an

:14:49. > :14:51.incident in the first sector. Hamilton going a bit defensive early

:14:52. > :14:55.on, he will have his mind on making his tyres last the distance. The

:14:56. > :14:59.offset on straight lines be between the Mercedes and the Red Bull but

:15:00. > :15:04.they will pick up on the slipstream. Daniil Kvyat, the Russian is going

:15:05. > :15:08.for it, he has never let a Grand Prix, not in a situation like this.

:15:09. > :15:13.He's going wheel-to-wheel with somebody like Hamilton. Rosberg

:15:14. > :15:21.going round the outside. He has got past Perez. Jenson Button fantastic

:15:22. > :15:36.start. Battling the Sebastian Vettel, who has also started well.

:15:37. > :15:40.Try to get past Ricardo. I'm not sure, he will be coming around in

:15:41. > :15:44.that position but a long way back. He went very wait between 17 and 18.

:15:45. > :15:49.That has allowed Rosberg to catch up. They have got some dry line as

:15:50. > :15:55.it comes through the second last turn and they can use that just to

:15:56. > :15:59.stabilise the car. Verstappen has had a better first lap. RADIO:

:16:00. > :16:10.Puncher. Puncture. Two punchers. They could

:16:11. > :16:14.have tangled. They were similar places on the grid and we have to

:16:15. > :16:21.look at the replays. Front wing for Bottas. He is in for the change and

:16:22. > :16:25.it is never easy, could have been involved, Sauber in trouble as well,

:16:26. > :16:32.he has lost his front wing. Further contact. Felipe Nasr with damage to

:16:33. > :16:37.the front end, Bottas putting slick tyres on, that will be interesting,

:16:38. > :16:41.he will be the first to switch onto the slicks. Looks a little bit too

:16:42. > :16:47.early for the next couple of laps. Sauber on Sauber. The worst scenario

:16:48. > :16:53.for a team when two drivers come together. Contact made between them

:16:54. > :16:56.and we have had several pet visitors, Alexander Rossi, the

:16:57. > :17:01.American, has had to come in for a pit stop, whether that is for damage

:17:02. > :17:07.as well, we're not sure. Bottas going on those slicks, not a lot of

:17:08. > :17:11.standing water but a lot of spray so he will really struggle initially

:17:12. > :17:15.but he will be in the test case for every other team to see at what

:17:16. > :17:19.point he starts getting closer. Writing in making a move on Button

:17:20. > :17:23.in the background, the Ferrari sloping past the McLaren, which is

:17:24. > :17:26.also now being chased by Carlos Sainz, coming from the back, good

:17:27. > :17:31.effort from Carlos Sainz and stayed out of trouble where several cars

:17:32. > :17:35.have picked up punctures. Having a go down the inside, should be able

:17:36. > :17:42.to complete the manoeuvre, he has. Carlos Sainz up into 10th, 11th

:17:43. > :17:46.place now. Great effort, starting from the very back of the field and

:17:47. > :17:52.Vettel is also picking up places and attacking Hulkenberg, that is

:17:53. > :17:56.Alexander Rossi. No, is it going to end this early for the American?

:17:57. > :18:03.Problem with the right rear, on board with Vettel. Eating pressure

:18:04. > :18:07.on Hulkenberg. Not as comfortable in the intermediate conditions.

:18:08. > :18:12.Rosberg, surprisingly dropping back from the back of the Red Bulls.

:18:13. > :18:18.Vettel trying to move his way back of the order. Kvyat fastest on

:18:19. > :18:21.everybody, lots of debris. I'm surprised the race Derek hasn't put

:18:22. > :18:30.the safety car to clear that debris. -- the race director. Carbon fibre

:18:31. > :18:35.is very sharp. There might be debris on Turn 1.

:18:36. > :18:42.Just looking in the pits, Stevens is in trouble in the Marussia, the car

:18:43. > :18:47.being pushed away as Felipe Nasr has had a new front wing fitted but it

:18:48. > :18:52.was Will Stevens's car that was being pushed away and Alexander

:18:53. > :18:56.Rossi is still out there. Hamilton got away pretty well off the line.

:18:57. > :19:00.That's what allowed him to get on the inside of Rosberg Rosberg just

:19:01. > :19:04.had to try to run it out the outside and then Hamilton absolutely on the

:19:05. > :19:10.limit and that is what we didn't see, Alonso going around and who

:19:11. > :19:18.else was he involved with? The initial getaway that Hamilton really

:19:19. > :19:23.taste, the Red Bulls, great performance. Watch the middle pack.

:19:24. > :19:30.Fernando Alonso just got smacked by Felipe Massa. Just a pure racing

:19:31. > :19:38.incident, no malice in that at all, just unfortunate. They all ran cold

:19:39. > :19:42.into the first corner. That was actually a textbook intermediate

:19:43. > :19:48.start, no wheel spin but his initial reaction was not as good and there

:19:49. > :19:53.is the little team-mates's case to say this is my corner. Is that

:19:54. > :19:58.justifiable? Is that within the bounds? Absolutely, Hamilton was

:19:59. > :20:01.running the braking zone, I don't think there was no driving off the

:20:02. > :20:06.circuit malice. You see the initial getaway, just to sit up and by the

:20:07. > :20:12.time that momentum carries him into the first corner, this is clearly

:20:13. > :20:17.Hamilton's corner, Rosberg, fair play for having a go but Hamilton is

:20:18. > :20:20.on the limit. They touch. That is where Rosberg paid the penalty for

:20:21. > :20:26.him taking the gamble and running wheel-to-wheel with Hamilton.

:20:27. > :20:28.Unfortunately for him, this is history repeating itself, every time

:20:29. > :20:32.they go wheel-to-wheel, Hamilton comes out in front and then all hell

:20:33. > :20:38.breaks loose in the middle of the pack. Massa was involved in that.

:20:39. > :20:45.Bottas with the slicks, presumably, getting well out of the way. Just no

:20:46. > :20:50.grip. The team, I guess, they have chosen to go with the slicks early.

:20:51. > :20:56.It is just not there at the moment. Look at the way that Hamilton, still

:20:57. > :21:00.being hounded by Daniil Kvyat. Great stuff from Kvyat, staying in touch

:21:01. > :21:04.with Lewis Hamilton. Felipe Nasr has been back into the pits to swap onto

:21:05. > :21:08.intermediates. Hamilton looks like he is burning and his rear tyres,

:21:09. > :21:14.the car is snaking around as he goes through some of the medium speed

:21:15. > :21:19.turns, you can see at an traction. Doesn't seem too bad on the traction

:21:20. > :21:22.phase but when he is loading the rear axle the car sliding around and

:21:23. > :21:28.as we have discussed before, when you start working the wheel, you

:21:29. > :21:32.take away the downforce and a new compound the difficulties you have.

:21:33. > :21:36.Kvyat getting himself on the into position where he could pass

:21:37. > :21:43.Hamilton. Let's keep an eye on that. Keep an eye on Carlos Sainz in

:21:44. > :21:50.your, in 10th place. Kammy Raikonnen sparking away. Maximum download and

:21:51. > :21:52.Raikonnen himself is also trying to get past Hulkenberg and Hulkenberg

:21:53. > :21:56.is trying to defend that place, round the outside comes the Ferrari

:21:57. > :21:59.and watch out from behind, Carlos Sainz might be able to take

:22:00. > :22:04.advantage of both of these guys, Raikonnen gets past the Force India

:22:05. > :22:08.and Carlos Sainz goes down the inside. And I think he has pulled

:22:09. > :22:11.that manoeuvre off beautifully, Hulkenberg had to give way in the

:22:12. > :22:15.end. Virtual safety car has been called, the leaders have slowed down

:22:16. > :22:19.and they were very close to one another, this means that we will not

:22:20. > :22:25.see the safety car on track, they have to drive to a predetermined

:22:26. > :22:30.slower speed and no overtaking is allowed. They will be monitoring

:22:31. > :22:35.that speed. Will anybody behind them decide to go into the pits at this

:22:36. > :22:39.point? Based on Bottas's times, it doesn't look like the opportunity is

:22:40. > :22:44.there. Going into Turn 1, we missed this. Kvyat getting a past on and

:22:45. > :22:49.then Hamilton came back at him before the safety car came out.

:22:50. > :22:52.Hamilton struggling with the tyres, gives him an opportunity to try to

:22:53. > :22:58.cool the intermediate to look out for that -- how far back he was able

:22:59. > :23:03.to come from but not stay on the racing line. Good effort from Kvyat,

:23:04. > :23:08.but did not quite come off. Bottas coming in to retire, all over for

:23:09. > :23:12.the Williams driver, had a new gearbox for the race but involved in

:23:13. > :23:17.a few bits and pieces and it is all over, I'm afraid. Virtual safety car

:23:18. > :23:21.is ending and the race gets underway once again and Lewis Hamilton

:23:22. > :23:25.launches himself. Rosberg has got past Ricciardo, Rosberg has taken

:23:26. > :23:29.full advantage of the safety car ending and as long as he did it

:23:30. > :23:34.after they got the signal that is OK but Ricciardo presumably caught

:23:35. > :23:44.napping, so Hamilton leads, Kvyat in second place, Rosberg is up to

:23:45. > :23:47.third, Ricciardo up there in force. Still difficult to judge conditions,

:23:48. > :23:53.Rosberg having a much better turn into turn 12 as they head down the

:23:54. > :23:58.next section, turn 11 Onto The St, with a big bumps. Kvyat will be a

:23:59. > :24:03.sitting duck with the speed of Mercedes. Here comes Rosberg. Much

:24:04. > :24:07.faster then a straight line, 11 miles an hour the difference in

:24:08. > :24:12.qualifying. Hamilton Mike Grella that he held the pack up and went

:24:13. > :24:18.slower, -- Hamilton might regret that he held the pack up, as was his

:24:19. > :24:30.want. He has actually given an advantage. RADIO: You will

:24:31. > :24:36.double-check. Was it done, did Rosberg do it at the right moment

:24:37. > :24:42.did he time it perfectly? Let's have a look at the restart with a virtual

:24:43. > :24:48.safety car. Interesting, he kind of backed off and then went for it, of

:24:49. > :24:54.question at what point the pooled the virtual safety car. Can we read

:24:55. > :24:59.anything. Whether that is their signal to say it has gone, if it is,

:25:00. > :25:03.then that was sharp move from Nico, would be easier for us all if they

:25:04. > :25:08.just restarted the race from the start-finish line. It just throws

:25:09. > :25:14.another aspect which is difficult for us to follow and explain to the

:25:15. > :25:20.viewers at home. Grosjean has not looked like a very tasty pit stop.

:25:21. > :25:24.They are putting him on to the skateboard to take him back into the

:25:25. > :25:29.pits. Kvyat having a look at the inside of Rosberg, has he gone to

:25:30. > :25:32.wide? Ricciardo comes back. Almost side-by-side with his own team it

:25:33. > :25:38.and Ricciardo has the chance to slot in behind. Look out for Daniel in

:25:39. > :25:42.the braking zone, but decides to go safe but ten out of ten for having a

:25:43. > :25:46.go, Rosberg goes wide. Ricciardo goes to second, he makes the move

:25:47. > :25:56.and Rosberg will be kicking himself having lost the position. RADIO: Not

:25:57. > :25:59.see it coming back onto the track. Complaining about Kvyat but what

:26:00. > :26:02.affected him more than that is that Ricciardo has gone past him.

:26:03. > :26:08.Ricciardo chases after Lewis Hamilton. You have to come back on

:26:09. > :26:14.the circuit that if you are aware of that, you are a competitor, there is

:26:15. > :26:19.not a handbook about the exit to that corner, clearly just

:26:20. > :26:23.distracted. Bobridge in moment, down the inside, carries too much speed,

:26:24. > :26:29.runs off the circuit, let's just watch this. I'm sorry, I don't

:26:30. > :26:33.agree, there was nothing dangerous about that at all, he past you fair

:26:34. > :26:38.and square, he took the consequence for being overoptimistic and that

:26:39. > :26:42.the point he comes back on, you have already reacted to it which is

:26:43. > :26:47.understandable. You saw what was happening, as did Ricciardo, it is

:26:48. > :26:51.just what happens in racing. Absolutely, Kvyat could not have

:26:52. > :26:54.anything different, had ago, didn't work and put the car back on and the

:26:55. > :26:58.best possible place but Rosberg just made a mistake. We have to assume,

:26:59. > :27:03.we don't know when the radio message was played. The frustration took

:27:04. > :27:10.away his concentration and he made a mistake will stop writing is still

:27:11. > :27:20.battling with Verstappen. RADIO: Wider, I don't get the DRS. We will

:27:21. > :27:25.check for performance. He has just been passed by the other Toro Rosso

:27:26. > :27:30.Carlos Sainz. Carlos Sainz has taken full advantage of that and gone past

:27:31. > :27:35.the Ferrari as he is struggling, apparently with DRS, behind them is

:27:36. > :27:41.Hulkenberg. Not having the same race as his team-mate, Perez. After the

:27:42. > :27:48.earlier problems, he is down in 10th place. Meanwhile, Ricciardo, the

:27:49. > :27:52.fastest man of all and 0.5 seconds behind Hamilton as he crossed the

:27:53. > :27:56.line, getting himself hooked up and difficult to run in the dirty air of

:27:57. > :28:01.the car in front but this really trying to stay within the DRS on.

:28:02. > :28:07.Kvyat has dropped out of the group. With Ricciardo. See how close you

:28:08. > :28:10.can get a Hamilton, the tyres started to struggle, getting close

:28:11. > :28:14.to the point where people will make the crossover to slicks. The

:28:15. > :28:21.straight line speed advantage of Hamilton. OK on the acceleration of

:28:22. > :28:30.this turn. Why show some racing cars on the circuit when you can show a

:28:31. > :28:34.man in the pit lane. Anyway. DRS wide-open for Daniel. That will keep

:28:35. > :28:38.them within touch of Hamilton. That is all it does because he hasn't got

:28:39. > :28:41.the straight-line speed. He had to find somewhere else around to

:28:42. > :28:45.overtake but there are a few opportunities. We all know how tough

:28:46. > :28:47.Hamilton will be to pass, fighting to try to wrap up the World

:28:48. > :28:53.Championship in the United States, back on board with Timmy Raikkonen,

:28:54. > :28:59.still battling the Carlos Sainz -- Kimi Raikkonen. Carlos Sainz bank

:29:00. > :29:04.behind him. As full says you would want to be. Great battle going on

:29:05. > :29:09.here. Fantastic to see one of the most experienced drivers in writing

:29:10. > :29:13.and mixing it with two of the least experienced, good example if you are

:29:14. > :29:17.good enough you are old enough and if you are good enough, you are not

:29:18. > :29:21.too old. Still they are with Carlos Sainz chasing after the Ferrari.

:29:22. > :29:25.Look at the way the Ferrari moves around. That is where Raikonnen

:29:26. > :29:31.struggled last time around as well, very wide out onto the care and not

:29:32. > :29:36.able to get quick close enough to the Toro Rosso in front. Carlos will

:29:37. > :29:40.get a better drive of the last time. Ricciardo having another go to get

:29:41. > :29:44.past Hamilton, almost, I wonder how close he was before we picked that

:29:45. > :29:49.up. He was almost alongside as we picked it up on the exit of turn on.

:29:50. > :29:53.Perfect opportunity to stay with this lead battle and follow the

:29:54. > :29:58.action, a lot of other action happening through the pack, but this

:29:59. > :30:02.is where all eyes will be. Hamilton doesn't need to win this Grand Prix

:30:03. > :30:07.to win the championship, just as dementia he has enough points over

:30:08. > :30:47.his team-mate, Rosberg. -- he just has to make sure.

:30:48. > :31:00.Max Verstappen holds. But Ricciardo can sense a real opportunity here

:31:01. > :31:14.today. Max Verstappen holds somehow they both get away with it. Daniel

:31:15. > :31:19.Ricciardo has found the space. Now, how do the Mercedes react? He used

:31:20. > :31:25.that tighter section of the last part of the lap. The question is,

:31:26. > :31:30.can he get enough of the gap to not be attacked under DRS on the back

:31:31. > :31:37.stretch? Just able to hold a much tighter line through that long 16,

:31:38. > :31:43.1718. As they come towards 19, he has got the track position. Hamilton

:31:44. > :31:49.going round, he just gets slightly off that wider line. You see him

:31:50. > :31:57.working the wheel, almost slick tyres. That was a brilliant pass by

:31:58. > :32:01.Ricciardo. We have not seen many overtakes partly due to the

:32:02. > :32:05.conditions but he has gone through and Red Bull lead the race. Look at

:32:06. > :32:09.this, Hamilton and Rosberg side-by-side at the end of the

:32:10. > :32:16.straight. Ricciardo still leads but Rosberg was right there with him.

:32:17. > :32:26.Heap at the handbrake on. Again you can see his tyres getting towards

:32:27. > :32:31.the end of their life, the intermediates. Has he managed to

:32:32. > :32:36.maintain the momentum? I think he has. He's just passed a four-time

:32:37. > :32:43.world champion down at turn 11. Absolutely brilliant. Can he hold it

:32:44. > :32:46.there? That is the question. He has got DRS because he was the 1 in

:32:47. > :32:56.front and that has worked perfectly for him. Oh no, Max Verstappen has

:32:57. > :32:59.run wide, what a shame. It's back to Max Verstappen against Raikkonen

:33:00. > :33:06.again. Raikkonen sees an opportunity here coming into this twisty section

:33:07. > :33:12.down into 15. Again Max Verstappen taking that shallow defensive line.

:33:13. > :33:18.Into this long treble corner. He gets wide. This is where Daniel

:33:19. > :33:23.Ricciardo passed Hamilton. Max Verstappen able to bring this car

:33:24. > :33:30.back towards the racing line. Carlos Sainz might have a look, but he

:33:31. > :33:34.decides against it. Moving off the dry line, we saw the impact. Another

:33:35. > :33:41.fastest lap for Daniel Ricciardo, let's listen in.

:33:42. > :33:46.RADIO: OK Daniel, we dictate when we stop. They are really looking after

:33:47. > :33:51.the tyres as well. Kimi Raikkonen now well-placed again. He is in a

:33:52. > :33:56.Toro Rosso sandwich here right now between these two youngsters. Next

:33:57. > :34:00.year it's quite possible the Toro Rosso team will be running Ferrari

:34:01. > :34:05.engine. That is an interesting little slander on what is going on

:34:06. > :34:12.at the moment. Max Verstappen showing us what a brilliant talent

:34:13. > :34:14.he is, and Carlos Sainz. Max Verstappen was the fastest through

:34:15. > :34:21.the speed trap Indians immediate point. He gained a huge amount

:34:22. > :34:28.there. We know that Jenson Button has gone to the slicks. He has made

:34:29. > :34:34.that work in the past. Rosberg having a go at getting passed

:34:35. > :34:38.Hamilton. Can he hold on? Yes he will. They will still be

:34:39. > :34:42.side-by-side in to turn 13. You would think they would have to give

:34:43. > :34:46.each other space, as team-mates, but Hamilton has shown he can be

:34:47. > :34:51.aggressive. Rosberg has gone past him, we don't see that often,

:34:52. > :34:57.Rosberg fighting his way past Lewis Hamilton. Who will blink first four

:34:58. > :35:03.tyres? It is going to be Hamilton in first. Kvyat chasing down the other

:35:04. > :35:08.Mercedes because Rosberg will have to stay out. Hamilton would have got

:35:09. > :35:14.choice because he was ahead. He has lost a couple of seconds on the in

:35:15. > :35:21.lap and that can be crucial. He will be early on to slicks for these

:35:22. > :35:25.guys. We haven't seen him complete a sector yet. Hamilton going on to the

:35:26. > :35:30.soft, slick tyre and on his way once again. Is he still going to win the

:35:31. > :35:38.championship today? It is all wide open on this point. Vettel has come

:35:39. > :35:43.in and so has Max Verstappen. It will be interesting to see how they

:35:44. > :35:51.get on. A big lock up there. It looks to me that it is still maybe a

:35:52. > :35:55.lap early for these tyres. At this point Hamilton would be quicker on

:35:56. > :36:02.the intermediates. Eriksen has gone fastest in the middle sector. Is he

:36:03. > :36:08.on the soft tyres? He is. The first sector still looks a bit damp. Keep

:36:09. > :36:11.an eye on Button's times. You have him coming across the line any time

:36:12. > :36:15.soon and that will just confirm where we're. It looks like Daniel

:36:16. > :36:20.Ricciardo might react to this next time around. Magnus Eriksen has just

:36:21. > :36:28.gone fastest in the final sector. Hamilton has to capitalise if he's

:36:29. > :36:37.going to stay in front of his team-mate, Rosberg. All the evidence

:36:38. > :36:44.is there now, you have got Ericsson delivering the time is now. DRS in

:36:45. > :36:51.effect and that was Hamilton just riding with those tyres. We have

:36:52. > :36:59.said many times that Hamilton just instinctively knows wheel to wheel.

:37:00. > :37:05.Let's see if Ricciardo comes in on this lap. I think he is probably

:37:06. > :37:10.going to head into the pits... Yes, Ricciardo is in. The race leader is

:37:11. > :37:15.into the pits. Red Bull go to work and put the slick tyres on and away

:37:16. > :37:20.he goes. Slight delay. Kvyat is coming in on the same lap. Is this

:37:21. > :37:25.the perfect lap? This will be interesting. Hamilton, the point at

:37:26. > :37:29.which his team decided to bring him in. Look for Hamilton in the

:37:30. > :37:34.background, just coming round the last corner now. Where will everyone

:37:35. > :37:39.come out at the end of it. Hamilton is at full speed heading down the

:37:40. > :37:40.straight here. These guys will struggle to stop the car with the

:37:41. > :37:47.braking. Kvyat sliding on the struggle to stop the car with the

:37:48. > :37:52.tyres. Hamilton trying to go around the outside on his heated tyres but

:37:53. > :37:57.it didn't work for him, he actually lost time as a result. It's worked

:37:58. > :38:02.well for Ricciardo but not so well for Hamilton. He now finds himself

:38:03. > :38:07.behind Rosberg and Kvyat. The damage was done when he was battling with

:38:08. > :38:10.Rosberg on his in lap. He went from half a second in front to at least a

:38:11. > :38:16.second and a half behind and that can be critical. As Jenson Button

:38:17. > :38:20.does the fastest lap in the Grand Prix. And all because he chose

:38:21. > :38:28.slicks when he did. As ever, he has chosen well. Oh! There goes

:38:29. > :38:33.Raikkonen! This will be a safety car if he can't get it going. Can he

:38:34. > :38:38.drive it out of the barrier? That is his rallying experience coming in,

:38:39. > :38:44.you don't give up until... Look at that, he's going to get it going!

:38:45. > :38:49.The front wing is very knocked askew but he can hopefully get these --

:38:50. > :38:57.this thing going. The fans enjoying a bit of Kimi's style, as he does

:38:58. > :39:06.get the car going. Going through five and six and over the rise. Yes,

:39:07. > :39:12.as he comes out of six... Well, unlucky. That was another look at

:39:13. > :39:18.it. He hit the barrier pretty hard. What about front suspension damage?

:39:19. > :39:22.You would think there would be some damage, but anyway... Kvyat will try

:39:23. > :39:28.to squeeze back on him and he has done so, sideways from Kvyat and he

:39:29. > :39:32.retake the place. Rosberg right on the gearbox of Daniel Ricciardo

:39:33. > :39:35.after that incident running wide. It's all happening here at the

:39:36. > :39:39.moment. Raikkonen sent on his way once again, taking a mighty impact

:39:40. > :39:46.and all the data centres will be telling the team that the front

:39:47. > :39:51.suspension is OK. Here comes Rosberg, he's going to reclaim the

:39:52. > :39:59.lead. He does, he goes past Danny Ricciardo, who is still slicking

:40:00. > :40:03.around on the brakes. Hamilton gets part Kvyat. Ricciardo has not given

:40:04. > :40:06.up on the lead place because Rosberg side-by-side with him but finally

:40:07. > :40:14.the Mercedes surely does finish off that pass. You can see how far

:40:15. > :40:16.Sebastian battle is going at this point, but Hamilton was fastest in

:40:17. > :40:31.that middle sector with the benefit of the tow. Nothing really that

:40:32. > :40:35.could be done by Daniil Kvyat. Hulkenberg has got past Carlos

:40:36. > :40:39.Sainz. Just a moment or two ago. Hulkenberg is flying right now. But

:40:40. > :40:44.another massively fastest lap by Nico Rosberg as that track continues

:40:45. > :40:51.to dry up but overtaking gets more difficult because you have to move

:40:52. > :40:56.off-line. Having said that, Vettel gets into third place and the

:40:57. > :41:02.Ferrari is flying. Hamilton was 1.2 seconds slower than Rosberg last

:41:03. > :41:10.time around. Is he nursing an issue with the front axle?

:41:11. > :41:15.RADIO: Felipe, it's a problem, we need to retire the car. Oh no, we're

:41:16. > :41:23.looking at a double retirement for Williams. Rosberg, another new

:41:24. > :41:28.fastest lap for him. DRS in operation... Will Daniel Ricciardo

:41:29. > :41:32.be close enough into turn one? He had a think about it but decided to

:41:33. > :41:35.follow the Red Bull because when they get to the main straight it

:41:36. > :41:40.will be easy-peasy for Lewis Hamilton to get past the Red Bull.

:41:41. > :41:44.This is where it gets difficult for him and it's a super section of race

:41:45. > :41:48.track, this is like drivers's heaven, high-speed corners and one

:41:49. > :41:51.coming after another. You see the elevation change as well that has

:41:52. > :42:01.been cleverly built into this race track. Rising up through the kink

:42:02. > :42:05.and into turn ten where they had the difficulty qualifying because of

:42:06. > :42:10.running water. Then this massively wide entry into turn 11. If it were

:42:11. > :42:13.to finish this way, Lewis Hamilton would not be world champion, not

:42:14. > :42:19.with Rosberg winning the race and him here in third place. Even second

:42:20. > :42:23.place wouldn't be enough. Lewis Hamilton draws alongside and

:42:24. > :42:26.overtake Daniel Ricciardo very easily. Kimi Raikkonen getting out

:42:27. > :42:30.of the way because he is being lapped after an extra pit stop he

:42:31. > :42:34.had to make after his crash into the barrier, but Hamilton now had a

:42:35. > :42:41.chance to go chasing after his team-mate Nico Rosberg. Now Hamilton

:42:42. > :42:47.is in some clear air. OK Kimi, I'm afraid the right front damage is

:42:48. > :42:50.going through the roof, so we need to slow down and box. We need to

:42:51. > :42:57.retire, I'm afraid. The damage was maybe done to the duct. Another

:42:58. > :43:06.possible retirement, Marcus Ericsson in the Sauber. A full safety car,

:43:07. > :43:09.not a virtual one. It's all over and all that hard work that Rosberg has

:43:10. > :43:14.done to build up the gap will now disappear.

:43:15. > :43:19.RADIO: Safety car. You are staying out. Staying out. Safety car, safety

:43:20. > :43:24.car. You are staying out. Keep positive. Rosberg has certainly

:43:25. > :43:29.delivered. Medium tyres going on some of these cars. Sebastian Vettel

:43:30. > :43:35.trying to do half a race on the medium. Should in theory be able to

:43:36. > :43:39.do that. We're looking at 28 laps and in theory they had a life of

:43:40. > :43:43.about 30 laps, the team is reckoned, but they didn't do any dry running,

:43:44. > :43:50.so it's a bit of an experiment but probably a good decision to bring

:43:51. > :43:54.Sebastian Vettel in. Max Verstappen has stayed out there. We're into one

:43:55. > :43:58.of these situations where that won't be resolved until later in the

:43:59. > :44:03.race. We understand now why the safety car had to be called. They

:44:04. > :44:06.will go right to the other side of the track for that to be craned out

:44:07. > :44:12.of the way. Jenson Button also making his pit stop. He's gone on to

:44:13. > :44:20.the soft tyre, I believe. The safety car is going to be in on this lap.

:44:21. > :44:25.RADIO: The braking is quite slippery, it's easy to lock up. I'm

:44:26. > :44:30.afraid I can't comment on line, Lewis. One of the things that was

:44:31. > :44:38.banned from radio communication that they were able to use but no longer.

:44:39. > :44:43.A little while ago. Rosberg will control the pace. That is the most

:44:44. > :44:46.vulnerable we have seen Lewis Hamilton sounding for some time.

:44:47. > :44:50.Definitely advantage Rosberg. This is going to be difficult for

:44:51. > :44:54.Hamilton to do anything. The first time we have seen him rope a dope,

:44:55. > :45:00.pretending he is down and then he bounces back. He's going to let the

:45:01. > :45:06.field once up and then let the safety car go. If he backs out, lets

:45:07. > :45:11.the safety car go, makes sure he doesn't catch the safety car by the

:45:12. > :45:15.time they come through to 19, and he will have to leave the circuit by

:45:16. > :45:22.the normal pit lane. He's trying to judge now how far ahead he needs to

:45:23. > :45:27.let the safety car go. If he gets the safety car before the last of

:45:28. > :45:32.the safety car lines, then he has to back out of it. Hamilton trying to

:45:33. > :45:35.glue himself to the gearbox of his team-mate's car. Nico Rosberg will

:45:36. > :45:39.build up the pace, they are all on tyres that are not up to

:45:40. > :45:45.temperature. Watch for the mistake, it could come from anybody. Rosberg

:45:46. > :45:52.making a brake already. Sebastian Vettel is in that line. He is chased

:45:53. > :45:57.by Max Verstappen. Don't forget how good Max Verstappen has proved to be

:45:58. > :46:01.this afternoon. Hulkenberg is behind him. Good restart so far from Nico

:46:02. > :46:07.Rosberg. It was up here that Hamilton was worried about the

:46:08. > :46:11.braking. Vettel gets passed him! Vettel gets passed Daniil Kvyat and

:46:12. > :46:17.that puts him into fourth edition. Lewis Hamilton went deep as well and

:46:18. > :46:20.so did Nico Rosberg. Rosberg looks superb at the moment, his car is

:46:21. > :46:24.working well and he is making the good calls. Right now he's doing

:46:25. > :46:28.enough to prevent Hamilton from winning the World Championship

:46:29. > :46:33.today. He may have to wait until next time out in Mexico. Up over the

:46:34. > :46:39.rise they come. Now Sebastian Vettel and he could still be a threat in a

:46:40. > :46:43.Ferrari that seems to work well in these slightly changeable

:46:44. > :46:47.conditions. Verstappen, tucked in behind Daniil Kvyat. They have got

:46:48. > :46:51.the Mercedes powered Force India behind them. DRS not enabled yet

:46:52. > :46:57.because we've only just started again after the safety car came in.

:46:58. > :47:00.Going past Daniel Ricciardo on the outside. Ricciardo fights back on

:47:01. > :47:07.the inside me while Hulkenberg is side and side. Sebastian Vettel is

:47:08. > :47:13.true. In the background, he did not quite get past the Sabin. Just

:47:14. > :47:16.carrying a bit too much speed. Fantastic from Daniel Ricciardo.

:47:17. > :47:21.Just when you think it was looking like it was over, he has pounced

:47:22. > :47:25.somewhere and Sebastian Vettel must have made a mistake or left the door

:47:26. > :47:30.open. Fantastic from Daniel Ricciardo to fight back in this

:47:31. > :47:34.tight and twisty last section of the track and Sebastian Vettel having to

:47:35. > :47:39.pay the price and drop behind him again. This is a brilliant Grand

:47:40. > :47:43.Prix. We haven't seen this kind of close racing for some time and it

:47:44. > :47:49.just goes to show that whenever we have changeable conditions, it

:47:50. > :47:56.throws it wide open. Rosberg leading after the restart, from Hamilton.

:47:57. > :48:01.Sebastian Vettel has a chance side-by-side with Ricciardo. Vettel

:48:02. > :48:06.does take the place again, he is into third. Different tyres in those

:48:07. > :48:11.cars, we don't know what the offset performance is. We can assume that

:48:12. > :48:15.the yellow sidewall tyres are the faster to be on but Daniel Ricciardo

:48:16. > :48:20.struggling as we saw with his team-mate to stop the car into turn

:48:21. > :48:24.one. Sebastian Vettel was a bit wide but they are all using the curb

:48:25. > :48:29.quite a lot now, so much drier than it was in wet practice. Max

:48:30. > :48:33.Verstappen down the inside of Kvyat, and has he done it again? That is

:48:34. > :48:38.where he made the move on Sebastian Vettel earlier on. It was a

:48:39. > :48:41.perfectly fair and valid manoeuvre. He may not be happy about being

:48:42. > :48:46.passed but he has to admire the manner in which it was done. It is

:48:47. > :48:52.almost three abreast with Ricciardo, as they had out to turn 12.

:48:53. > :48:57.Ricciardo still just there and Kvyat pays the price, he has lost out to

:48:58. > :49:05.Hulkenberg as well. Costly for the Russian, dropping behind the Force

:49:06. > :49:14.India now. Daniil Kvyat extremely wide. Hamilton, I do know a few was

:49:15. > :49:21.in DRS zone or not but he is still behind Rosberg. He certainly liked

:49:22. > :49:26.that group didn't he? Look at this, Max Verstappen ahead of Ricciardo.

:49:27. > :49:29.What has happened to Ricciardo? He is now under pressure from

:49:30. > :49:35.Hulkenberg as well. Max Verstappen in fourth place, that is where he

:49:36. > :49:40.finished in Hungary this year. What a drive again from the 18-year-old.

:49:41. > :49:44.Nico Hulkenberg is making the most of these conditions in the Force

:49:45. > :49:49.India. Riding on board with the Mercedes power unit with Nico

:49:50. > :49:52.Hulkenberg. It looks like Ricciardo was struggling with his soft tyres

:49:53. > :50:00.and Hulkenberg is on the medium compound. Just dropped out of their

:50:01. > :50:04.operating window. You could see Daniil Kvyat's red light flashing

:50:05. > :50:08.saying they are unable to deploy any electrical energy. We know as the

:50:09. > :50:14.track dried out it is where the Mercedes powered cars start to

:50:15. > :50:17.stretch their legs. Of course Max Verstappen is in a Renault powered

:50:18. > :50:20.car as well and something is working well for the Toro Rosso here because

:50:21. > :50:23.now he is in fourth, meanwhile Hamilton is now within DRS range of

:50:24. > :50:32.Rosberg. RADIO:

:50:33. > :50:40.INAUDIBLE Down the main straight, presumably.

:50:41. > :50:47.They may have an issue with the underside of the car, the leading

:50:48. > :50:54.edge of the underfloor, the teacher I. I guess it resembles a tea

:50:55. > :51:01.tray... That could be an area of weakness for the Ferrari. Ricciardo

:51:02. > :51:08.under attack from Hulkenberg. They touch, they make contact. Damage to

:51:09. > :51:12.Hulkenberg and once again Hulkenberg was involved in the last couple of

:51:13. > :51:17.Grand Prix of Darts and it was a legitimate attempt, but then the

:51:18. > :51:23.door just closed and that is it, all over for Hulkenberg. Such a shame,

:51:24. > :51:28.he crashed out last time and he has gone through a bad sequence and

:51:29. > :51:34.Carlos Sainz under investigation. This will mean a couple of other

:51:35. > :51:43.cars moving up. Perez under threat from Button. Button is now in eighth

:51:44. > :51:46.place, Perez in ninth and chances here for McLaren to score

:51:47. > :51:53.much-needed points. Last time around, Button was behind Perez.

:51:54. > :51:58.Nico Rosberg still just in front but up ahead Ricciardo is the 1 who will

:51:59. > :52:02.be dropping back, still keeping an eye on this little group as well.

:52:03. > :52:09.Maldonado is at the back of that train. Trying to see if there is

:52:10. > :52:11.damage to Maldonado's car, seeing from the bodywork. It looks like

:52:12. > :52:22.maybe just below the infinity sign. RADIO: The car is OK, stay out

:52:23. > :52:26.otherwise we are ready for you. He says he has got damaged but he's

:52:27. > :52:35.going to try and stick with it for now. His team-mate getting quicker

:52:36. > :52:41.and he may have to let him through. He should just zoom by before the

:52:42. > :52:45.braking zone. Yes, Kvyat is catching and catching. Moves out of the

:52:46. > :52:51.slipstream quite late. Daniil Kvyat moves into fifth place right now. He

:52:52. > :53:02.will go after Max Verstappen who has opened up the advantage. Hamilton is

:53:03. > :53:06.no .7 of a second behind Rosberg. It is Rosberg just managing the race at

:53:07. > :53:09.this stage, or is Hamilton, as I suggested earlier, is he just faking

:53:10. > :53:14.some issues and now applying pressure. We will find out soon. If

:53:15. > :53:24.I were Rosberg, I'm not sure I would be happy having Hamilton less than a

:53:25. > :53:27.second behind me. Carlos Sainz has been given a 5 second penalty which

:53:28. > :53:33.will probably be added at the end of the Grand Prix now. That was a late

:53:34. > :53:37.pull-out, wasn't it. Hamilton is going slowly, very slowly. There is

:53:38. > :53:47.something wrong for the Mercedes! The safety car is out. Oh! Thank you

:53:48. > :53:51.for pointing that out. For Hamilton fans, it is because they are having

:53:52. > :53:57.difficulty recovering that cast quite for the second time in this

:53:58. > :54:04.race, the virtual safety car. Two virtual safety car 's and one real

:54:05. > :54:14.one. A long way around the lab. A replay of Hulkenberg and Daniel

:54:15. > :54:18.Ricciardo, I believe. It was a fairly light kiss. The front wing

:54:19. > :54:26.was already looking a bit... It was flapping around, there. There was

:54:27. > :54:32.room, it was a digit at attempt at a pass. It doesn't look to me like

:54:33. > :54:36.Daniel was closing the door. You see it from this angle. Hulkenberg, on

:54:37. > :54:44.the brakes, he comes late. But less space. You can't just blame Daniel,

:54:45. > :54:49.if your trajectory is not going to allow you to turn the corner then of

:54:50. > :54:53.course you are going to end up... It will be interesting to see what the

:54:54. > :54:57.stewards think of that. They may put it down as a wheel to wheel incident

:54:58. > :55:03.because I don't think there was any malice in either part or any intent

:55:04. > :55:07.by either driver. Daniel, we're stacking the Cards, we are stacking

:55:08. > :55:11.the cards. I wonder if that means Mercedes will be doing the same

:55:12. > :55:16.thing. They will bring them both in at the same time and it won't really

:55:17. > :55:20.affect their battle to much. Given the safety car, it affects more

:55:21. > :55:25.Hamilton because when you go back out onto track, Hamilton stays out.

:55:26. > :55:31.Rosberg has been brought in. He had preferential treatment as the race

:55:32. > :55:39.leader, which is right and proper. He wants to drive now absolutely on

:55:40. > :55:45.the Delta. He was under speeding the car last time they had the virtual

:55:46. > :55:49.safety car. Really focus on maximising your lap times. What does

:55:50. > :55:54.this do for Sebastian Vettel? He may be trying to get through the race on

:55:55. > :55:58.his set of medium compound tyres. We are expecting Hamilton to come back

:55:59. > :56:02.in. A real chance here four Sebastian. There is. We will find

:56:03. > :56:08.out, when you see the stacking you definitely lose extra time. Just

:56:09. > :56:10.look at the gap that is there between any Ricciardo and his

:56:11. > :56:14.team-mate when they go back out on track. They don't have the benefit

:56:15. > :56:18.of a full safety car when you can speed back onto the gearbox of the

:56:19. > :56:25.car in front, you are now usual light to a Delta time. Medium

:56:26. > :56:30.compound tyres for both of the Red Bulls. I think it is a soft tyre for

:56:31. > :56:37.Ricciardo. Ricciardo has gone out on the soft but Daniil Kvyat is on the

:56:38. > :56:46.medium. Second place for the moment behind Hamilton. We have got a car

:56:47. > :56:50.behind. He may be going to the end. And you are not, because I'm sure

:56:51. > :56:55.he's going to need to make a pit stop. He stopped on lap 18. Too far

:56:56. > :57:00.to go on this soft tyre, so we expect presumably to see him in at

:57:01. > :57:05.the end of this lap. Is he going to do something slightly different?

:57:06. > :57:11.Well, if he has doubts then he has to go and make the stop now. Because

:57:12. > :57:21.once the race restarts, they can go the distance. What is the tyre

:57:22. > :57:27.situation? We are going to have a look at the tyres now, Lewis, and

:57:28. > :57:31.make an assessment. He says he wants information now because we don't

:57:32. > :57:36.know how long this virtual safety car... Actually, it is ending. Lewis

:57:37. > :57:40.Hamilton on the charge, he now leads this Grand Prix which is where he

:57:41. > :57:46.needs to be and he can wrap up the title. But he is due another pit

:57:47. > :57:49.stop. As they come through it will be Vettel in second place and he's

:57:50. > :57:54.going to go all the way to the end on the tyres that he's on, now.

:57:55. > :57:59.Could he go the distance? Everything would suggest they don't have the

:58:00. > :58:02.life in those tyres. The pace has been lower than we've seen in

:58:03. > :58:07.previous Austin Grand Prix, and there have been plenty of safety

:58:08. > :58:14.lapse to take some energy out of his tyres. It has to be worth a punt.

:58:15. > :58:20.Alonso is leaking -- sneaking down the inside of Paras. Carlos Sainz is

:58:21. > :58:25.trying to do the same thing but that isn't quite on and he doesn't make

:58:26. > :58:30.it. Rosberg hideaway is tucked in behind Max Verstappen. Rosberg came

:58:31. > :58:35.over the line seven tenths of a second behind Max Verstappen. Right

:58:36. > :58:38.at the bike you have got Pastor Maldonado running in ninth place and

:58:39. > :58:45.here you are, Max Verstappen in front of him. This is turn 11.

:58:46. > :58:50.You've got to presume he would be able to make an easy pass here. The

:58:51. > :58:54.difference in speed between the two cars with DRS is evident. The

:58:55. > :58:59.problem for Hamilton is that when he went across the line in the

:59:00. > :59:07.restart, he was only 8.9 seconds behind Hamilton. The time to come

:59:08. > :59:13.into the pit lane, take on tyres and rejoin would be considerably more

:59:14. > :59:17.than that. Hamilton right now among the pack with Maldonado in ninth

:59:18. > :59:24.place. This is not working well for Hamilton and his hopes of winning

:59:25. > :59:32.here and winning the championship. We need to find another ten seconds

:59:33. > :59:40.to Vettel. That is asking quite a lot, you would think. He gained a

:59:41. > :59:45.10th on him in that last lap. Rosberg was 8 cents a second faster

:59:46. > :59:50.on fresh tyres. A new fastest lap for Nico Rosberg. The incident

:59:51. > :59:58.between Ricciardo and Hulkenberg will be looked at after the race.

:59:59. > :00:03.Vettel now under pressure from a freshly tired Mercedes. I don't

:00:04. > :00:07.think this is going to be a contest for very long. Both have had three

:00:08. > :00:13.victories this year but Vettel and Rosberg. Vettel is currently ahead

:00:14. > :00:16.of Rosberg in the championship. I don't think there's much he can do

:00:17. > :00:20.and Rosberg surges through and back into what is second place and goes

:00:21. > :00:24.chasing after team-mate Hamilton who may be trying to get to the of the

:00:25. > :00:28.Grand Prix but whatever he does, surely he's going to become victim

:00:29. > :00:29.to his team-mate and Rosberg is going to continue the championship

:00:30. > :00:40.struggle for a little bit longer. That is a man on the move, DRS

:00:41. > :00:44.against no DRS makes a big difference in straight-line speed,

:00:45. > :00:49.as is shown there and you know when you are the car behind with DRS, you

:00:50. > :00:53.are able to judge at what point you will catch the car in front, so not

:00:54. > :00:56.under any pressure in breaking, so Rosberg is a man on the move and

:00:57. > :01:01.unless something happens, and there has been plenty of action so far

:01:02. > :01:07.this afternoon but otherwise Rosberg will get onto the back of Hamilton

:01:08. > :01:13.pretty quickly and I don't see how Hamilton on those tyres can defend.

:01:14. > :01:18.Alonso has caught Button, not a big difference in specification between

:01:19. > :01:25.the two Honda engines. Trash! Kvyat on the wall. He has hit it hard. --

:01:26. > :01:31.crash. This might be a lifeline for Hamilton in terms of giving him some

:01:32. > :01:38.more opportunity on the tire. I crashed, sorry guys. Sorry. Sounds

:01:39. > :01:42.like it was his mistake, nobody else involved but he is clearly OK, right

:01:43. > :01:52.front damage and Kvyat is out of the Grand Prix. What happened? Get onto

:01:53. > :01:58.the artificial grass and unfortunately spins him around. The

:01:59. > :02:05.grass holds the water. Ricciardo was too close for comfort, thankfully

:02:06. > :02:08.managed to avoid it. We will see Hamilton heading into the pits

:02:09. > :02:14.shortly as Rosberg will become race leader once again. Where will

:02:15. > :02:18.Hamilton come out? A gap to Verstappen who is just coming

:02:19. > :02:24.through, 19, could bring him out just behind Rosberg and Vettel. Just

:02:25. > :02:28.passing the start- finished now and Vettel has come in. Not happy about

:02:29. > :02:36.getting to the end of the race on that set of tyres. Hamilton back out

:02:37. > :02:41.on the soft tyre as well, I think, that means that Rosberg has retaken

:02:42. > :02:49.the lead. Hamilton came just behind Verstappen, looking at our circuit

:02:50. > :02:54.tracker. Hamilton has, in front of Verstappen, excuse me. That means it

:02:55. > :02:57.is game on. When the safety car picks up the pack, it will bring

:02:58. > :03:05.everybody bunched up, Hamilton on the fresher tyres. It has worked out

:03:06. > :03:08.really well for Hamilton, Carlos Sainz in the Toro Rosso for his

:03:09. > :03:12.final pit stop and soul was Pastor Maldonado going ahead of him.

:03:13. > :03:17.Sebastian Vettel will not have the pace to choose the Mercedes, but who

:03:18. > :03:21.knows? The safety car will be back in again and the end of this lap and

:03:22. > :03:24.Rosberg and Hamilton will be in a straight jewel because Max

:03:25. > :03:31.Verstappen is in third and he will be busy trying to protect his

:03:32. > :03:35.position. RADIO: You will have ten laps remaining, just keep it nice

:03:36. > :03:40.and clean. Rosberg goes, we'll spin on the restart as he launches into

:03:41. > :03:46.these tyres, they have lost temperature and Verstappen, what a

:03:47. > :03:49.great restart, Sebastian Vettel right behind him. Great restart by

:03:50. > :03:54.Rosberg and Hamilton knows he has a bit of time, he doesn't have to take

:03:55. > :03:58.a risk on the restart, he will look at the additional advantage he has

:03:59. > :04:03.from his fresher tyres to close that gap but Verstappen looking very

:04:04. > :04:07.racy, coming under medium pressure from Vettel, looking up the inside

:04:08. > :04:11.in to turn on and not quite close enough to get alongside the Toro

:04:12. > :04:17.Rosso. Alonso right behind them and then Perez chased by Ricciardo and

:04:18. > :04:22.Button under threat as Maldonado is ahead of Carlos Sainz. Fantastic

:04:23. > :04:25.from Verstappen, resisting the pressure from Vettel who showed his

:04:26. > :04:30.nose as they ran up into Turn 1 but he resisted the pressure and didn't

:04:31. > :04:34.lock-up and maintains the third-place position. This is the

:04:35. > :04:38.key area for Vettel to get close because they are coming down to the

:04:39. > :04:42.straight although he will not have DRS he has got Ferrari horsepower at

:04:43. > :04:44.against Renault engine in the back of the Toro Rosso and Verstappen

:04:45. > :04:50.looking for as deep and entry into the corner as he could possibly get

:04:51. > :04:52.to get a quick exit and this is the opportunity for Vettel, he has done

:04:53. > :04:55.it already in this race and it looks as though he will be able to do it

:04:56. > :05:01.fairly simply once again, at potential podium for Verstappen.

:05:02. > :05:07.Norway that he can defend from the Ferrari, he drops back to fourth

:05:08. > :05:10.with Alonso behind him. Maldonado unbuttoned, side-by-side, they have

:05:11. > :05:14.made contact already this year a couple of times and they just

:05:15. > :05:18.touched on and Carlos Sainz is going to look after me is one of them if

:05:19. > :05:23.not both, he has managed to squeeze in between but not getting past

:05:24. > :05:27.Button at the same time. Fantastic opportunism from Carlos Sainz, still

:05:28. > :05:32.all over the back of Button, has to be careful not to leave the door

:05:33. > :05:37.open for Maldonado when it was into the of the race track down towards

:05:38. > :05:40.19. But inwardly protecting their position in the McLaren, trying to

:05:41. > :05:45.make a break from Carlos Sainz, Rosberg leads, Hamilton, 1.6 seconds

:05:46. > :05:51.behind, another billion restart from Rosberg. Lock-up from Hamilton. Not

:05:52. > :05:56.as well-positioned for the restart once again, Hamilton. Alonso keeping

:05:57. > :06:00.Perez behind him at the moment. Alonso in fifth position, that would

:06:01. > :06:06.match his best of the season so far, that was an hungry this season.

:06:07. > :06:10.Perez in sixth, Ricciardo in the hunt in seventh, do not discount the

:06:11. > :06:14.Red Bull, which was so quick in the damp conditions earlier on in this

:06:15. > :06:19.Grand Prix and now on a fresher set of tyres, whereas Alonso is an tyres

:06:20. > :06:23.that have done plenty of laps and so is Perez, Ricciardo could be the one

:06:24. > :06:30.to watch. Hamilton has managed to pull a couple of tenths on Rosberg

:06:31. > :06:34.in the first sector. The middle sector will be quite telling, well

:06:35. > :06:35.back from having a DRS performance advantage, this is pure pace against

:06:36. > :06:41.these. advantage, this is pure pace against

:06:42. > :06:44.pressure from Carlos Sainz, a Honda engine against the Renault power

:06:45. > :06:49.pressure from Carlos Sainz, a Honda unit. A little opportunity for Perez

:06:50. > :06:55.to close up on Alonso. Alonso keeps them behind for now, Button

:06:56. > :06:59.continues to defend and Carlos Sainz. Both McLarens in the mix,

:07:00. > :07:05.great to see, it has not happened much this year at all. Carlos Sainz

:07:06. > :07:09.chasing Jenson Button. As a live down the inside, he had a go, Carlos

:07:10. > :07:16.Sainz and he might have pulled it off as Rosberg and Hamilton. Where

:07:17. > :07:22.is Hamilton? He has taken the lead. Rosberg has made a mistake. Zero x

:07:23. > :07:28.six seconds ahead and it was coming out of 15. In terms of a race battle

:07:29. > :07:31.that we wanted, what a disappointment, looking forward to

:07:32. > :07:34.wheel-to-wheel dice between those two but it means that Hamilton is

:07:35. > :07:39.where he needs to be to win the championship. A fastest lap as well

:07:40. > :07:43.putting the pressure on Rosberg and Rosberg was the one that faltered

:07:44. > :07:47.and made a mistake, Vettel chases after him, Vettel can get past

:07:48. > :07:56.Rosberg, then the championship is not decided. RADIO: What happened

:07:57. > :08:04.there? Problem of the top line, trying to catch. Vettel try to

:08:05. > :08:07.understand what has gone on, some great racing going on but Hamilton

:08:08. > :08:11.is in front and is right now heading for his third world title, in such

:08:12. > :08:16.dramatic fashion, Carlos Sainz all over the back of the Red Bull of

:08:17. > :08:21.Ricciardo, looks down the inside. And Ricciardo has to give him space.

:08:22. > :08:26.Good from Button to take advantage of that. Doesn't quite get the drive

:08:27. > :08:31.of the turn, coming over some standing water but firmly under the

:08:32. > :08:34.gearbox of Daniel Ricciardo and Button must be thinking it is

:08:35. > :08:40.Christmas, I'm racing. DRS in operation. The Red Bull is surely

:08:41. > :08:45.make contact and Button takes advantage of it. Carlos made a very

:08:46. > :08:51.late movement, you have to be careful, coming back at Button. Full

:08:52. > :08:56.marks for showing hunger and a certain level of aggression but you

:08:57. > :09:00.cannot weave in the braking zone, it is written in the regulation and for

:09:01. > :09:04.safety of cars being launched. Button chases after his team-mate,

:09:05. > :09:13.Alonso, Button is on fresher tyres, slight advantage. RADIO: You are on

:09:14. > :09:16.fire, keep pushing. He is driving well, the crash this morning in

:09:17. > :09:22.practice, Rosberg has just that fastest lap as he tries to claim

:09:23. > :09:25.back. But imposes Alonso. Gets past his team-mate as McLaren had for

:09:26. > :09:30.their best finish of the season, that puts him into sixth place but

:09:31. > :09:35.as a joint finish this would be their best of the year. But now will

:09:36. > :09:38.go after Sergio Perez. Maldonado still with a chance of scoring some

:09:39. > :09:43.points at the back of the train and Carlos Sainz proving that not only

:09:44. > :09:47.Max Verstappen can overtake and don't forget that Verstappen is in

:09:48. > :09:50.fourth place currently and Carlos Sainz will go up against his great

:09:51. > :09:57.hero and great friend, Fernando Alonso. Fernando is a fair but hard

:09:58. > :10:05.racer, struggling for traction off the turn. Then the inside. He has a

:10:06. > :10:09.look and think he will make it, Maldonado has gone past Ricciardo.

:10:10. > :10:11.Damage on Ricciardo's car as a result of the contact with

:10:12. > :10:17.Hulkenberg, so he is not able to show us what he can do and just bear

:10:18. > :10:20.in mind that Alexander Rossi in the manner is running around in 12th

:10:21. > :10:26.place, their best finish of the year. Felipe Nasr gets past. If we

:10:27. > :10:31.were to lose one more car from this lead group, Rossi would get the best

:10:32. > :10:35.result for them of the season. Would be fantastic for that team. We can

:10:36. > :10:38.see some carbon fibre hanging down off the side of Ricciardo's car and

:10:39. > :10:45.even with the DRS open, the Sauber was able to easily overtake. This

:10:46. > :10:49.was the incident, little bit of contact, that was hard but fair,

:10:50. > :10:53.maybe I was a bit too quick to judge, looked like Carlos was

:10:54. > :10:56.looking to close the door. Let's just see. He did come in on a

:10:57. > :11:03.shallow line and that is when you have to be careful, in this case,

:11:04. > :11:06.put it down to enthusiasm and focus but you have to be pretty sure when

:11:07. > :11:10.you move across the braking zone that you are not squeezing somebody

:11:11. > :11:13.otherwise that will need the attention of the stewards and this

:11:14. > :11:20.is Daniel. Let's see what damage she has. Missing a bargeboard from the

:11:21. > :11:24.front edge of his car. That will prevent Rossi moving up another

:11:25. > :11:28.position. We'll Ricciardo make it to the end of the Grand Prix? Just a

:11:29. > :11:37.few laps to go, we are on Lap 51 out of 56. What a race it has been and

:11:38. > :11:42.we are not going to go to the two hour but the longest Austin race we

:11:43. > :11:46.have seen so far. Lewis Hamilton leads it, Rosberg had a quick lap a

:11:47. > :11:50.moment ago but on the last lap they both put in pretty much identical

:11:51. > :11:55.times and Rosberg, having made that mistake, allowing Hamilton through

:11:56. > :11:59.and now it looks very much like he will wrap up the title here today

:12:00. > :12:04.after one of the most eventful races, not just this season but of

:12:05. > :12:16.the last few years. Vettel still in third, Verstappen is in fourth

:12:17. > :12:24.position. RADIO: OK, I'm coming. Stay out, we are still in the

:12:25. > :12:28.points. Alonso dropping back, but maybe could still pick up a point,

:12:29. > :12:34.he is ten years now, Ricciardo made a pit stop but it will not be long

:12:35. > :12:38.before he loses out on a potential point. Hamilton on his way, 4.3

:12:39. > :12:42.second advantage over his team-mate, Nico Rosberg. Rosberg getting

:12:43. > :12:48.pressure from Vettel, just 1.7 seconds behind him, managed it

:12:49. > :12:54.easier .4 seconds out of the last lap around. Could be lining it up

:12:55. > :12:59.for a late charge. If Vettel could get second, it would change things

:13:00. > :13:05.in the World Championship. Not enough for Hamilton to win the title

:13:06. > :13:09.here. We have only got a couple of laps to go. Riding on board with

:13:10. > :13:14.Carlos Sainz. Past the grandstand on the exit of turn nine, through turn

:13:15. > :13:21.ten who was catching at many in qualifying this morning. Needs to be

:13:22. > :13:30.closely, but the traction of the McLaren is good. Better this time

:13:31. > :13:34.than last time around. Jenson Button have DRS against Perez, too far

:13:35. > :13:38.back, going for the late dive, thinking about it, Carlos Sainz down

:13:39. > :13:42.the inside of Button, can he slow the car? He has judged that

:13:43. > :13:48.beautifully. Absolutely beautiful pass from Carlos Sainz. It fits the

:13:49. > :13:52.Toro Rosso into fifth, sorry sixth place and Toro Rosso are running

:13:53. > :13:58.fourth and sixth and outstanding result that they can hang onto that

:13:59. > :14:01.with both cars in the top six. Might still be able to put pressure on

:14:02. > :14:05.Perez as well, so they might be fourth and fifth. That would be

:14:06. > :14:08.quite something particularly with Carlos Sainz coming back from the

:14:09. > :14:14.accident will stop Vettel has closed the gap a little bit more. It was

:14:15. > :14:19.1.7, come down to 1.1, little bit more and she is suddenly within DRS

:14:20. > :14:25.range. If he gets this section here tidy, then he will be in that DRS

:14:26. > :14:33.activations on as they run into turn 11 -- activation zone. Just a couple

:14:34. > :14:36.of laps to go here in Austin, a circuit that has been flooded for

:14:37. > :14:41.much of the weekend but has delivered the light in terms of a

:14:42. > :14:44.race this afternoon. I wonder if Ross Byrne goes thinking, second and

:14:45. > :14:45.third it is all the same but maybe spoil the party for Lewis for

:14:46. > :15:01.another weekend. Heading down the back stretch and he

:15:02. > :15:07.certainly has closed up a little bit more, but will he be able to pass?

:15:08. > :15:13.That is the question. He has taken six tenths of a second off Rosberg

:15:14. > :15:17.last time round and it's not as if Rosberg had to be defending. He is

:15:18. > :15:21.either really struggling on these tyres or he is giving Vettel an

:15:22. > :15:28.opportunity to spoil the party for Hamilton. Is Vettel going to move

:15:29. > :15:32.into second? If he does, the points gap would be just a bit too big for

:15:33. > :15:37.Hamilton to wrap it up this weekend. They are racing again in seven days'

:15:38. > :15:42.time in Mexico. Lewis Hamilton is onto his final lap. He is leading

:15:43. > :15:47.the Grand Prix and heading for his third victory here in the past four

:15:48. > :15:52.years. But what can Sebastian Vettel do here? Nico Rosberg goes deep into

:15:53. > :16:00.turn one. Rosberg tighter on the apex. He's going to be thinking turn

:16:01. > :16:05.12, in the braking zone, that is his opportunity. He was a bit quicker

:16:06. > :16:10.than Rosberg last time around, so despite that mistake up into turn

:16:11. > :16:16.one, this is all about the braking zone now in turned 12. Rosberg knows

:16:17. > :16:23.it, Vettel knows it, we know it. What's going to happen? We have seen

:16:24. > :16:28.Rosberg make an error when Lewis Hamilton was behind him. This time

:16:29. > :16:35.Vettel is much closer. He slides a bit out of that corner. Rosberg is

:16:36. > :16:40.going to hang on. I think it's just going to come too late for him as he

:16:41. > :16:46.comes into the braking zone at 12. Does he make a lunch at it? No he

:16:47. > :16:50.doesn't. He doesn't launch himself. It would have been overoptimistic.

:16:51. > :16:57.Vettel perhaps being a bit more wary. What about 15? There is maybe

:16:58. > :17:02.a last chance. This will decide whether or not Hamilton wins the

:17:03. > :17:07.championship today. He's going to win it one way or another and it

:17:08. > :17:11.could be in a few moments' time. Lewis Hamilton coming through the

:17:12. > :17:16.last couple of corners. I don't think the Ferrari can do anything.

:17:17. > :17:20.Through the last turn... Lewis Hamilton wins the US Grand Prix in

:17:21. > :17:28.Austin, wait to see who crosses the line in second. Lewis Hamilton has

:17:29. > :17:31.won his third World Championship. He is the 2015 world champion after an

:17:32. > :17:37.incredible race of changing fortunes. Hamilton has done it! In

:17:38. > :17:40.the USA and the team that won the Constructors' Championship last time

:17:41. > :17:45.out in Russia has now taken the drivers's title with Lewis Hamilton

:17:46. > :17:49.and it was one of the toughest races he has had to run as well. Max

:17:50. > :17:56.Verstappen finishes a brilliant fourth place. Perez is fit for Force

:17:57. > :18:00.India. Toro Rosso had one of their best days ever, finishing in fourth

:18:01. > :18:05.and six. Button gained great points in seventh. We just wait and I think

:18:06. > :18:10.Alonso is still going to pick up the final point. We will just wait for

:18:11. > :18:16.him to come through to check that, and it will mean that Ricciardo will

:18:17. > :18:20.be out of the points. No, Ricciardo got the final point, he passed

:18:21. > :18:25.Alonso on the last lap. He has just crossed the final line, 1.4 seconds

:18:26. > :18:29.ahead. Alexander Rossi will finish in 12, to match the Manor

:18:30. > :18:35.Marussia's best result of the season. It's all about Lewis

:18:36. > :18:38.Hamilton, he's done it again. He is a 3 times world champion.

:18:39. > :18:46.RADIO: OK Lewis, I think you've done it made! See what Nico does... That

:18:47. > :18:53.is it. World champion, pal. World champion. Three times world

:18:54. > :18:59.champion, you've only gone and done it, mate. I'm feeling it pal, I'm

:19:00. > :19:06.feeling it. How good does that sound, Lewis, three times world

:19:07. > :19:12.champion? Thank you guys so much. Thank you so much. For everything

:19:13. > :19:18.you guys do. I'm just so grateful, thank you. To my family, I love you

:19:19. > :19:25.all. Thank you. Let's get some reaction now. Lewis Hamilton world

:19:26. > :19:28.champion, what a way to do it? What a race actually. All the ups and

:19:29. > :19:34.downs in the race but finally he made it. Just describe what he has

:19:35. > :19:39.done this year and in this race as well. Fantastic race. We had our

:19:40. > :19:44.problems in the beginning and then in the end it was tight with Nico

:19:45. > :19:50.not having the pace. Just overwhelmed. How much better has

:19:51. > :19:54.Lewis been this year than last year? He was almost faultless and the car

:19:55. > :20:01.did not let him down, he scored all the necessary points. Just a great

:20:02. > :20:08.feeling. Big party tonight. For sure! Well done. Wonderful scenes of

:20:09. > :20:12.celebration here. We said Carlos Sainz finished in six but he had not

:20:13. > :20:17.served his five second penalty. They have added the five seconds in and

:20:18. > :20:20.it means that Jenson Button finishes in sixth place and Carlos Sainz

:20:21. > :20:25.finishes seventh. Just look at the joy here for Lewis Hamilton. Paddy

:20:26. > :20:29.Lowe on the right, the technical boss at Mercedes, these guys have

:20:30. > :20:31.delivered for him and he has delivered thought -- for them as

:20:32. > :20:39.well. He's the man of the moment. ANNOUNCER: We will hear the British

:20:40. > :21:34.and German national anthems. Well done to Lewis Hamilton, what a

:21:35. > :21:40.day for him. Nico Rosberg still looking pretty unhappy. Looking

:21:41. > :21:44.very, very unhappy at this point. He has lost any opportunity of winning

:21:45. > :21:48.the title, but there must be more to it, there must be something that

:21:49. > :21:53.happened in the race. But no doubt this year that Lewis Hamilton has

:21:54. > :21:59.dominated 2015. Lewis went early with the champagne. He's going to

:22:00. > :22:02.make the most of this now. We said he was relaxed throughout this

:22:03. > :22:08.championship campaign. But you can just see now that real release of

:22:09. > :22:14.emotion. Nico gave his champagne to Paddy Lowe, he didn't want to join

:22:15. > :22:18.in the celebrations. Paddy thought, well, I will enjoy it if you don't

:22:19. > :22:22.want to. This is a great celebration for a man that has taken clearly the

:22:23. > :22:28.class of the field race car and delivered.

:22:29. > :22:37.Such dramatic scenes as Lewis Hamilton becomes a triple world

:22:38. > :22:40.champion, consecutive championships, back-to-back, the only Brit to have

:22:41. > :22:46.ever done that. What does it mean to win three? To be able to do that and

:22:47. > :22:50.go level with Ayrton Senna is the realisation of a great dream for

:22:51. > :22:54.him. Thoroughly deserved and now he has to be recognised up there with

:22:55. > :23:00.the greats of the sport. He has been fantastic all year and being

:23:01. > :23:04.recognised by the team as the champagne flows. Lewis Hamilton,

:23:05. > :23:12.triple world champion. Is three a magic number, Lewis? Four is the

:23:13. > :23:16.magic number, but three is pretty awesome as well! These are the guys

:23:17. > :23:21.that make this all possible. -- 44 is the magic number! These guys, I

:23:22. > :23:25.hope you are drinking and celebrating. For everything you've

:23:26. > :23:29.done in supporting me all this way, it's been amazing. That race was so

:23:30. > :23:33.much fun. An emotional roller-coaster. You say you have got

:23:34. > :23:44.champagne in your shoes but you took a good glug champagne on the podium.

:23:45. > :23:54.I can hold my drink pretty well actually! It was more about the

:23:55. > :23:58.emotion... I know, I know. The it's so hard to describe. I feel like I

:23:59. > :24:03.could run a marathon right now. It's incredibly empowering and wearing

:24:04. > :24:07.much a humbling experience. I was a kid wanting to be world champion and

:24:08. > :24:10.be a Formula 1 driver and do something similar to Ayrton and now

:24:11. > :24:15.I have got the same number of championships as Ayrton, I can't

:24:16. > :24:18.believe it. At one point you looked your helmet -- took your helmet off

:24:19. > :24:21.and you were very reflective, like you couldn't believe what has

:24:22. > :24:29.happened to you today. I still can't. I don't know at what point it

:24:30. > :24:34.will come to my thoughts, but... I remember every day of my racing

:24:35. > :24:40.career. Ireland all the things I've done and all the things people have

:24:41. > :24:48.said along the way and the support, the doubts, Mike family, my dad, I'm

:24:49. > :24:51.just grateful for it all and then today, the only person that could

:24:52. > :24:56.really get in my way was myself and I feel today like I have conquered

:24:57. > :25:00.any demons that if I may have had any, I do know if I did, but if I

:25:01. > :25:05.had any demons or anything standing in my way, I feel like I conquered

:25:06. > :25:12.it was great strength. This is the most wired I've ever seen you! I'm

:25:13. > :25:16.pumped! Where do you go from here? From here, just enjoy this moment. I

:25:17. > :25:20.think it's really important to enjoy it because this can only happen once

:25:21. > :25:24.in this period of time and before I know it, I will be at home watching

:25:25. > :25:29.TV with little kids running around at one stage and you know, so I just

:25:30. > :25:34.really want to enjoy it with my guys and I hope my family are having a

:25:35. > :25:41.drink, please have a drink for me. At what point did you know it was

:25:42. > :25:45.on? At what point did you realise? There was never a moment I did not

:25:46. > :25:48.believe I could do it. At the beginning I was struggling and I

:25:49. > :25:53.lost a lot of confidence in the car. I kept believing I would find a way

:25:54. > :25:58.and be able to fight my way back through the grid. The only time I

:25:59. > :26:02.started thinking about the championship was when I was just

:26:03. > :26:06.behind Nico and it was like, championship is right there. You

:26:07. > :26:12.either stand back and accept second order you man up and go and get it.

:26:13. > :26:16.I went for it so I was pushing and I was looking forward to racing with

:26:17. > :26:23.Nico but obviously he made it a lot easier for me... But he has been

:26:24. > :26:27.driving fantastically well. And it's not easy having me as a team-mate!

:26:28. > :26:32.In a friendly, I'm the worst team mate you can have. Which is a good

:26:33. > :26:36.thing for me. You are the man for me, you are the man in this Lone

:26:37. > :26:41.Star state, here are the superstar. Congratulations. Thank you.

:26:42. > :26:48.Let's check on today's result. Lewis Hamilton winning the race and the

:26:49. > :26:52.championship. Sebastian Vettel took third spot on the podium. A

:26:53. > :26:53.brilliant drive by Max Verstappen in fourth place. Daniel Ricciardo took

:26:54. > :27:02.the final points. Lewis is world champion. Sebastian

:27:03. > :27:06.Vettel second place and Nico Rosberg in third. Max Verstappen moves up

:27:07. > :27:10.into the top ten. Not much to say about the Constructors'

:27:11. > :27:14.Championship. We know Mercedes are the champions. Ferrari take second

:27:15. > :27:18.place. A bad day at the office forward Iams and Red Bull. An

:27:19. > :27:24.absolutely phenomenal day, David, what a race. It just shows that

:27:25. > :27:31.whenever we have mixed weather conditions, it brings the action.

:27:32. > :27:35.The star of the day? Obviously Lewis Hamilton. He fought back and somehow

:27:36. > :27:40.put pressure on Nico Rosberg and came through to win his third world

:27:41. > :27:43.title in style. Nico will be kicking himself to date. He will be

:27:44. > :27:47.disappointed because he left the door open into turn one and also he

:27:48. > :27:52.handled the pressure of leading the Grand Prix badly and that allowed

:27:53. > :27:55.Lewis to come through and take the victory. Some strong performances

:27:56. > :27:59.throughout the field, Jenson Button in the point and also Max Verstappen

:28:00. > :28:03.in fourth place. It was quite a cracker and we will be back next

:28:04. > :28:07.weekend as we return to Mexico, the first time we've been there since

:28:08. > :28:11.1992. Today Lewis Hamilton made it three and he joined an elite club of

:28:12. > :28:17.triple world champions. Nice work, Lewis.

:28:18. > :28:29.COMMENTATOR: Now Brabham has got the race in his hands.

:28:30. > :28:35.It's Jackie Stewart! Nobody has ever seen the finish of a motorways like

:28:36. > :28:50.that. Niki Lauda comes up to the line. He

:28:51. > :28:52.takes the chequered flag, and Niki Lauda, there is the world champion

:28:53. > :29:06.of 1984! There is the world champion actually

:29:07. > :29:16.becoming world champion. Over the line goes the world champion, 1983.

:29:17. > :29:28.Ayrton Senna crosses the line. Ayrton Senna joins the list of true

:29:29. > :29:36.greats as a three-time world champion.

:29:37. > :29:47.The 2008 Formula 1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton! Lewis Hamilton is

:29:48. > :29:53.the 2014 world champion! World champion! Oh my God! Lewis Hamilton

:29:54. > :30:00.has won his third World Championship. He is the 2015 world

:30:01. > :30:03.champion. Thank you guys so much. He joins the greats as a 3 times world
