:00:30. > :00:36.It is official, spring is here. Members of sport's most exclusive

:00:37. > :00:45.club were all in green last night for the Champions Dinner. It kicked

:00:46. > :00:48.off Masters week. The newest recruit is Adam Scott. The Australians

:00:49. > :00:58.served up a barbecue menu, what else? And his men's Pavlova for

:00:59. > :00:59.dessert. What a menu and what do you Adam has had since that historic

:01:00. > :01:21.play-off 12 months ago. This to win. There it is. A life

:01:22. > :01:45.changer. It rained during the play-offs last

:01:46. > :01:50.year and it was lashing down a game this week. The gates were closed on

:01:51. > :01:53.Monday for the first time since 2013 but normal service is resumed and it

:01:54. > :01:59.has been a glorious Georgia today on the course. And soaking it all in

:02:00. > :02:04.today and for the rest of the week, Peter Alliss and Ken Brown. It is a

:02:05. > :02:10.Masters without Tiger Woods for the first time in 20 years so what are

:02:11. > :02:13.your expectations? I think it is going to be very Open, it is going

:02:14. > :02:20.to be very interesting. Tiger will be missed, which will be in joined

:02:21. > :02:32.by a few, but a lot of the younger people, one or two of them have been

:02:33. > :02:40.blowing the Bugle is very loud. They are setting out strong. I am

:02:41. > :02:46.interested to see how they play, whether the bravado disappears when

:02:47. > :02:50.they go to the first tee. It is 24, and that is 12 more than last year,

:02:51. > :02:56.Rockies at the Masters. What impact do you think they might have? There

:02:57. > :03:01.is 24 of them and there is a field of almost 70. We have got young

:03:02. > :03:05.players coming through. It is difficult to get in the tournament

:03:06. > :03:10.so they deserve to be year. I would not be at all surprised if one or

:03:11. > :03:14.two of them came through. Matt Jones did well last week. They are going

:03:15. > :03:19.to make a bid for certain. But winning here for the first time is

:03:20. > :03:24.tricky. It is an Aussie in possession of the Green Jacket right

:03:25. > :03:29.now. It is Adam Scott. So what has been his highlight of the year?

:03:30. > :03:34.Probably going back to Australia and being able to share the Green Jacket

:03:35. > :03:40.with everyone is probably the most rewarding. So many people have putt

:03:41. > :03:43.a lot into my career, even people I do not know, so to be able to go

:03:44. > :03:50.back and take the Green Jacket home was a real thrill for me. You won

:03:51. > :03:55.three times on home soil. I wonder, how often did you wear the jacket

:03:56. > :04:01.around the house? I managed to slip it on a fair bit. It felt good

:04:02. > :04:06.making the copy in the morning. As you come back, there are so many

:04:07. > :04:12.things to appreciate. Your mum and dad are with you this week. What

:04:13. > :04:17.about Australian success? You ended a 77 year wait last year. To what

:04:18. > :04:24.extent will that be a start for something Australian here? I hope it

:04:25. > :04:28.is. I hope it broke the duck for us and now you only have to look at the

:04:29. > :04:32.last few weeks on Tour to see there is plenty of talent out of Australia

:04:33. > :04:36.and maybe some names people are not so familiar with winning on the

:04:37. > :04:41.biggest Tour in the world that have earned their place here this week.

:04:42. > :04:45.They legitimately have a chance to win. Jason Day has got a great

:04:46. > :04:50.record here so I hope this is the one that starts a real run for

:04:51. > :04:55.Australians at the Masters. You could even become the fourth person

:04:56. > :05:02.to retain the title here. What sort of form do you bring to Augusta? I

:05:03. > :05:05.like where my game is at. I have played well the last few weeks in

:05:06. > :05:10.Florida and my preparation was very good at home over the last couple of

:05:11. > :05:14.weeks. I have the confidence coming off the back of last year and feel

:05:15. > :05:17.very comfortable with the golf course so I am quietly confident I

:05:18. > :05:25.can move myself into a position similar to last year. He is trying

:05:26. > :05:28.to do what only Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods have done in

:05:29. > :05:35.regaining the title. What chance do you give him? The same chance as

:05:36. > :05:38.everyone else. But I have listened to all the pundits here and they say

:05:39. > :05:47.you have got to drive it 300 yard safe, have wonderful moves and putt

:05:48. > :05:53.it all together. It is like the Grand National, who is going to win?

:05:54. > :05:59.Some have a better chance than others. He has been a great champion

:06:00. > :06:05.for August because he has carried himself with such modesty. He is a

:06:06. > :06:17.very popular champion. Extremely popular because he has been a nice

:06:18. > :06:25.guy. He did it in foil style. He had did in glorious fashion. It is been

:06:26. > :06:31.a good year for Australian golf. Jason Day has a great opportunity to

:06:32. > :06:36.win the Masters. Greg Norman came close but finally the Green Jacket

:06:37. > :06:42.went to Australia. Even in the last eight weeks or so, for Victor Ruiz

:06:43. > :06:50.for Aussies. What extraordinary victories they work too. A monster

:06:51. > :06:59.putt last Sunday. They can't happen. But rather like watching Dynamo

:07:00. > :07:04.doing his magic, it happens. And there are seven Australians in the

:07:05. > :07:14.field, including Oliver Goss, Matt Jones, Marc Leishman as well. So

:07:15. > :07:21.many who could spring a surprise. Matt Jones had that fantastic win in

:07:22. > :07:26.Houston. And he had a hole in one today. Matt Jones comes in today

:07:27. > :07:30.with a real buzz. But it is Adam Scott who comes in as the top ranked

:07:31. > :07:36.player in the tournament in the absence of Tiger Woods who has just

:07:37. > :07:40.undergone surgery to fix a nerve in his back. He is going to be out of

:07:41. > :07:45.action until the summer at least. He has not won a major for six years

:07:46. > :07:51.and he remains for behind the record of 18. But it means he could lose

:07:52. > :07:56.his top spot in the rankings as Scott can finish at least in third

:07:57. > :08:01.place. Jason Day also have a chance to leap up to the top of the

:08:02. > :08:05.rankings. Justin Rose is the highest placed of the UK golfers but the

:08:06. > :08:07.favourite with the bookmakers is the man one place below Justin Rose,

:08:08. > :08:23.Rory McIlroy. My goodness, Rory McIlroy is

:08:24. > :08:29.bleeding. He has gone. It is moments like this that the

:08:30. > :08:32.game becomes very cruel. Do you feel you have got some

:08:33. > :08:36.unfinished business because of what happened three years ago? Not

:08:37. > :08:42.really, because I have moved on and I have one some Majors since. If I

:08:43. > :08:48.get myself in that position again I will be able to handle it much

:08:49. > :08:51.better than I did a few years ago. Installed as the favourite, how

:08:52. > :08:56.difficult is it to manage those expectations? I have been favourite

:08:57. > :09:02.for a lot of tournaments before so that is nothing new. It is not

:09:03. > :09:05.really matter. It is what you feel yourself. I feel I have got as good

:09:06. > :09:11.a chance as anyone going into this week. Watching how golf has unfolded

:09:12. > :09:15.this season, there have been so many first-time winners. Do you think

:09:16. > :09:20.you'd someone could win here on the debut? I can't see someone winning

:09:21. > :09:27.on their debut. Experience counts too much. Guys like myself, Matt

:09:28. > :09:31.Kuchar, Adam Scott, who have had tournaments and have not quite been

:09:32. > :09:35.able to finish the job. We are all coming here with experience of being

:09:36. > :09:40.in contention this year and knowing not what to do and hopefully being

:09:41. > :09:45.able to correct the mistakes that we may coming down the stretch of this

:09:46. > :09:51.tournament. Northern Ireland golfers have won three of the Majors. What

:09:52. > :09:55.would it mean to you to finish that Grand Slam this week and slip on

:09:56. > :10:00.that Green Jacket? It would mean an awful lot. For a person from

:10:01. > :10:04.Northern Ireland to win all four Majors would be a very good feet for

:10:05. > :10:09.a small country so it would be a great thing to achieve and I am one

:10:10. > :10:15.of three guys who could maybe do it this week.

:10:16. > :10:19.Rory does seem to be in a more settled frame of mind can pay to

:10:20. > :10:25.this time last year. Do you share the bookmakers' faith? He is a

:10:26. > :10:29.wonderful player to watch, he has won two Majors, it is down to the

:10:30. > :10:34.luck of the draw, how you play, how you get to certain situations. Your

:10:35. > :10:40.bit of good fortune, his bit of bad luck. I rather get tired of things.

:10:41. > :10:44.You don't go a bit here, what happens, happens. You try and get it

:10:45. > :10:55.all in place, you try to get this right and this right, and then it

:10:56. > :11:02.happens. Hand on heart, nobody can tell you why. You can feel like $1

:11:03. > :11:08.million and the first shot goes out of bounds or you can get a record

:11:09. > :11:14.score. There are things you can improve and what could be improved

:11:15. > :11:19.for Rory at Augusta? He has got the perfect game for August and he knows

:11:20. > :11:23.it. He has got to putt reasonably well, he has spoken about his

:11:24. > :11:27.strategy at the par fives, he has had this relentless urge to go for

:11:28. > :11:32.them and sometimes you have just got to play the percentage. Getting the

:11:33. > :11:37.tactics right on this golf course. He has definitely got the game.

:11:38. > :11:42.Sometimes he has got to say, I am going to hold back, pitcher and walk

:11:43. > :11:46.on. If he can get that right, he comes here as a justifiable

:11:47. > :11:52.favourite. Darren Clarke is here as well so they have got a real chance

:11:53. > :11:54.of doing something special. We spoke about Graeme McDowell and we talk

:11:55. > :12:00.about this Northern Ireland Grand Slam, and this man has been a little

:12:01. > :12:06.underrated this season. He has had a brilliant time of it. He leads the

:12:07. > :12:12.batting stats. That is crucial around the Augusta National. --

:12:13. > :12:18.patting. The only thing you would say about Graeme McDowell, he is not

:12:19. > :12:29.the longest. He will not be able to reach all the par fives. But he has

:12:30. > :12:34.got that quiet confidence so you would not count him out. We would

:12:35. > :12:40.have got to talk about Darren Clarke and he will tear in his 500 event

:12:41. > :12:50.tomorrow. He is very lean, he has lost a lot of weight, and we wish

:12:51. > :12:55.Darren very well. While Rory McIlroy gets ready for his sixth Masters,

:12:56. > :13:00.one youngster from Sheffield is all set for his first. Matthew

:13:01. > :13:04.Fitzpatrick announced himself to the world last year by winning the US

:13:05. > :13:13.amateur title. The first Englishman for almost a century to do it.

:13:14. > :13:19.Eubank a silver medal as well. Tellez your impressions of what you

:13:20. > :13:23.see at Augusta. The place is amazing, it is so green everywhere

:13:24. > :13:30.and there is nothing out of place. It is everything I expected. You had

:13:31. > :13:36.a chance to take a spin around the course with Rory McIlroy. That was

:13:37. > :13:43.pretty special. He invited me out so that was great. I really appreciated

:13:44. > :13:48.that. What about the nitty-gritty of being at the Masters, the Crow's

:13:49. > :13:53.Nest. What is that like? I stayed there last night and it was fun. The

:13:54. > :13:58.history is really special. I am staying with the family for the rest

:13:59. > :14:03.of the week. I understand there is a large contingent of family out here.

:14:04. > :14:10.I have got my mum and dad, brother, girlfriend and a couple of friends.

:14:11. > :14:16.Adam Scott, Jason Dufner, alongside them, what kind of expectations do

:14:17. > :14:20.you have in that kind of company? It is something I am looking forward

:14:21. > :14:27.to. It would be made -- great to make the cut in that company.

:14:28. > :14:31.Hopefully my game is in decent shape but we will have to see come

:14:32. > :14:40.Thursday. I am really excited to get going. What a prospect, what would

:14:41. > :14:46.you say to him before tomorrow? It is important to get this in the

:14:47. > :14:53.right place and I would say, try to enjoy this. This is a cauldron, I

:14:54. > :14:57.came here only twice to play and I was totally overwhelmed by this.

:14:58. > :15:03.Just hopeless. That is the great fear, tell him to try to enjoy this

:15:04. > :15:08.and you either favourite, your favourite golf course, try to get

:15:09. > :15:16.that picture, go through a series of mental pic shares, playing a course

:15:17. > :15:22.very well and then enjoy it. You never know what will happen. One of

:15:23. > :15:29.six amateurs and the results of another Englishman, the British

:15:30. > :15:33.amateur champion, Garrick Porteous. He will turn professional next week.

:15:34. > :15:39.Young Englishman starting their careers, they were not even born

:15:40. > :15:46.when Nick Faldo won the first of his Greenjackets 25 years ago. Forcing

:15:47. > :15:53.the third round, Faldo is struggling with his putting. He made the

:15:54. > :16:04.crucial decision. I went out and parted like I could not believe.

:16:05. > :16:15.Wonderful part. Some of the greatest I have ever had. The American had

:16:16. > :16:20.one to win. I thought, I could still there the -- I could still win this

:16:21. > :16:27.but it does not look very good. I tell you! The 11th and Faldo made

:16:28. > :16:36.him pay. That was the sweetest putt I have ever had in my life. What a

:16:37. > :16:48.way to do it! Follow would win again in 1990 and 1996, the last Brett to

:16:49. > :16:52.win the green jacket. -- Brit. The Golden age at Augusta Agana Sandy

:16:53. > :16:58.Lyle imagine idiot and ended with Nick Faldo in 1996 and we must go

:16:59. > :17:08.back to 1999 for the last European victory and that was Jose Maria

:17:09. > :17:14.Olazabal. Who is in the best position to put this right? Justin

:17:15. > :17:21.Rose? He is coming in under the radar, considering he is a reigning

:17:22. > :17:26.champion? Under the radar! They have injured themselves in the gymnasium.

:17:27. > :17:34.I lived in a different time, but I cannot remember anyone other than a

:17:35. > :17:39.player having burst appendicitis but nobody was ever injured. All these

:17:40. > :17:48.fellows, in an effort to be Mr universe, they have pulled muscles

:17:49. > :17:51.or they go skiing and break a leg. That is the way it is in these

:17:52. > :18:01.modern times but I do not understand it. Tendinitis. Shoulder problems.

:18:02. > :18:05.He seems to be convinced that he is over that but that has hampered him

:18:06. > :18:10.over the past few months. He missed a couple of tournaments, but I

:18:11. > :18:14.watched him on the range and he was swinging very nicely. If you have an

:18:15. > :18:19.injury, you don't quite throw yourself at this quite so hard and

:18:20. > :18:23.that does help your timing. He would not be playing if he did not think

:18:24. > :18:29.he didn't have a great chance. One man desperate to win a major is Lee

:18:30. > :18:36.Westwood, top 38 times over the years. He is still searching for

:18:37. > :18:41.answers. Is he likely to find them? I am a fan and I have watched him

:18:42. > :18:45.since he was a young man laying amateur things and I like him

:18:46. > :18:53.enormously. Maybe the chance has gone? Very few people over 40, Vijay

:18:54. > :18:59.Singh, Miguel Jimenez, but it does not happen to many. I do not

:19:00. > :19:06.understand all of the changes that people make today, Luke Donald,

:19:07. > :19:13.Padraig Harrington, they don't seem, in my opinion, to get better, you

:19:14. > :19:17.can become more consistent. You don't need 1 million balls to do

:19:18. > :19:24.that. You learn how to head and then play. That is the great key about

:19:25. > :19:30.golf. In any sport. You learn how to hit and then play. When striving for

:19:31. > :19:36.perfection, they go backwards, they all have. You talk about Luke

:19:37. > :19:41.Donald, and he has made some swing changes, new coach, hearing things

:19:42. > :19:47.to try to win a major, get some extra length. This is a place that

:19:48. > :19:53.seems to have inspired him. He has a nice record. He is one of the

:19:54. > :20:02.greatest putters. In his day, no one like him. He played with rose last

:20:03. > :20:09.year at the U.S. Open in the final round. And we could see him pulling

:20:10. > :20:15.off those shots and he could not. -- Justin Rose. He tends to rule his

:20:16. > :20:22.wrists. That is what he is trying to eliminate. At least that is what he

:20:23. > :20:26.thinks he has to do. We have Ian Poulter, Jamie Donaldson, current

:20:27. > :20:33.European number one, Stephen Gallacher, 38 years old, making his

:20:34. > :20:39.debut for Scotland. Who do you like from that trio? Who do you feel has

:20:40. > :20:46.the game? There is a wonderful mixed bag. Ken talks a lot of sense but

:20:47. > :20:57.many short hitters have been running around here. I would say at least 15

:20:58. > :21:01.or 20%. You must wait, when the ground was dry, Ken would win three

:21:02. > :21:08.tournaments every year. I know they have lengthened it but if you chip

:21:09. > :21:13.and putt, you do the right things. You just put them all in a hat and

:21:14. > :21:19.some appear to have more experience and knowledge and game plan and this

:21:20. > :21:25.and that, they seem to have more the Chancellor others, but the

:21:26. > :21:29.bookmakers usually get it right! -- more of a chance than others. But

:21:30. > :21:38.somebody might come out of the woodwork. Bookmakers fancied Garcia

:21:39. > :21:43.and Henrik Stenson. That is look at some of the key groups going out in

:21:44. > :21:44.round number one tomorrow. Adam Scott, defending champion, with

:21:45. > 0:14:51Jason Dufner. And
