:00:14. > :00:31.Hello. It feels like we have been waiting all winter and finally it is

:00:32. > :00:36.here. Masters week at the magnificent Augusta National in

:00:37. > :00:40.Georgia. The world's greatest golfers are here to play for the

:00:41. > :00:45.coveted of titles and the fabled green jacket. It could be that we

:00:46. > :00:50.are in for a classic Masters because seldom have we seen so many players

:00:51. > :00:55.all of whom have performed well here in the past in such sparkling form

:00:56. > :01:00.coming into a Masters. Golf's new big three - Jason Day of Australia,

:01:01. > :01:04.Jordan Spieth of America, and Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy have

:01:05. > :01:08.won five of the last six major titles between them and they are now

:01:09. > :01:12.ranked one, two and three in the world. They will be joined by a

:01:13. > :01:17.whole host of other contenders and we will assess the possibilities and

:01:18. > :01:19.the chances of many of them in more detail in our preview programme

:01:20. > :01:25.tomorrow night. For now, let's sit back and relax and soak up the

:01:26. > :01:29.colours and the familiar sights and sounds of this beautifully-evocative

:01:30. > :01:34.place. A place that has produced so much excitement over the last 80

:01:35. > :01:40.years or so. In fact, 12 months ago, it was dominated from the start by a

:01:41. > :01:45.brilliant young man and it all began in 2015 as it always does on the 1st

:01:46. > :01:48.tee early on a Thursday morning in the company of three legends of the

:01:49. > :02:04.game. I would like to welcome back our

:02:05. > :02:14.four-time Masters' Champion, still the King, please welcome Mr Arnold

:02:15. > :02:20.Palmer. Arnold, the tee is yours. Arnold Palmer at age 85.

:02:21. > :02:47.40 years ago, he became the first and so far only man to win the

:02:48. > :02:51.Masters five times. On Thursday, after the honorary starters, in the

:02:52. > :02:53.first group of the morning, Charley Hoffman birdied two of the first

:02:54. > :03:04.three holes. And said later that on the range

:03:05. > :03:08.that morning, he'd asked Jack and Arnie to autograph flags for his

:03:09. > :03:11.foundation and he took command on the second nine, this shot at 15 set

:03:12. > :03:42.up an eagle. And this approach at 18... Put him

:03:43. > :03:47.at the top of the leaderboard. I'm trying to put myself in position

:03:48. > :03:54.come Sunday. I don't see any reason why I won't be there.

:03:55. > :04:00.The Watsons, Tom at 10, Bubba at 17, both two-time Masters' Champions and

:04:01. > :04:07.both shot 71. Justin Rose, playing with Bubba, was

:04:08. > :04:30.accurate with his irons, here at 6. And with his putter. A birdie at 10

:04:31. > :04:33.and a tie for the lead. I think it is about playing good, solid golf,

:04:34. > :04:40.and giving myself a chance on Sunday. Ernie Els, in his 21st

:04:41. > :05:10.Masters, second at 15. It was right. Rory McIlroy on the 1st tee. The 1st

:05:11. > :05:19.tee-shot is the only tee-shot of a tournament that I get nervous at. No

:05:20. > :05:29.problem there. But a different story. On the tee at 2...

:05:30. > :05:36.He was playing alongside Phil Mickelson, who split the fairway at

:05:37. > :05:48.8 and then hit a 3-wood second shot. That led to an eagle and a round of

:05:49. > :05:54.70. McIlroy to get under-par for the day at 15.

:05:55. > :06:02.And he shot 71. Felt like it was a solid start. It could have been

:06:03. > :06:10.better. It could have been worse as well. It was a good, solid start. I

:06:11. > :06:15.played well today. And it's the first day. A good way to get the

:06:16. > :06:23.tournament started. Tiger Woods in his 20th Masters started with a

:06:24. > :06:25.bogey. Made three birdies on the day, with the help of a rejuvenated

:06:26. > :06:51.short game. In the last group, Jason Day made

:06:52. > :07:00.five birdies in a row, starting at 12 and ending here at 16. And that

:07:01. > :07:05.tied him with Hoffman, Rose and Els. By that time, all of them were in

:07:06. > :07:08.second place behind 21-year-old Jordan Spieth, playing his second

:07:09. > :07:12.Masters as if he had been there a decade. A birdie at 10 tied him for

:07:13. > :07:23.the lead at 5-under par. At 12, he thought he'd missed. I

:07:24. > :07:31.started walking after I hit it because I was upset that I had a

:07:32. > :07:35.chance to make a two and I didn't hit it right but got away with it.

:07:36. > :07:45.He had the lead to himself and caught another break at 13.

:07:46. > :07:53.Into the trees and back out to the fairway. Great tee-shot. Great

:07:54. > :08:04.tee-shot, Billy Horschel said. Spieth took advantage. He laid up to

:08:05. > :08:10.there... And then stuck his approach for another birdie. Now 7-under par.

:08:11. > :08:22.In trouble off the tee at 14... Just go.

:08:23. > :08:28.Get up! He couldn't see it hit the flag stick. What happened, he asked

:08:29. > :08:36.his caddy? What happened was another birdie, 8-under.

:08:37. > :08:42.Sit down! Bite! And then a mistake at the par-5 15th led to a bogey.

:08:43. > :08:49.I don't like finishing rounds at a higher score than where I was at

:08:50. > :08:59.some point in the round. I was 8-under through 14. I didn't want to

:09:00. > :09:09.finish any worse than 4-under. To do that, he needed to birdie 18.

:09:10. > :09:17.It is really cool. I would take three more of them. Spieth said that

:09:18. > :09:21.once he got going, his target for the day was 10-under par. Not

:09:22. > :09:27.realising that would have been a Masters and Major Championship

:09:28. > :09:29.record. 11 players broke 70. 30 were under-par on a near-perfect day for

:09:30. > :09:43.scoring. Ben Crenshaw... 43 years ago, a

:09:44. > :09:47.young man played his first Masters and stayed up in the Crow's Nest on

:09:48. > :09:53.the grounds of Augusta National. This year, seven amateurs were in

:09:54. > :09:56.the field, including the Asia-Pacific Amateur Champion, a

:09:57. > :10:05.19-year-old, and the first Australian to win that coveted

:10:06. > :10:12.title. US Amateur Champion, two months younger than Jordan Spieth.

:10:13. > :10:23.Nearly making eagle at the 1st hole on Friday.

:10:24. > :10:30.And the Latin America Amateur Champion. He may have had the best

:10:31. > :10:37.time of them all from his hole in 1 at the Par-3 Contest to teeing it up

:10:38. > :10:42.Thursday and Friday. None of the amateurs made the cut, but all will

:10:43. > :10:45.have memories to share with family and friends for many years to come.

:10:46. > :10:52.This is the best place a golfer could be. The crowd is awesome. They

:10:53. > :10:55.always are waiting for a good shot and are really excited... They are

:10:56. > :10:59.here to support you more than ever. I think it's been great. It's been a

:11:00. > :11:02.great experience. I'm having a lot of fun here.

:11:03. > :11:09.When Tiger Woods showed up this year, having missed last year's

:11:10. > :11:14.tournament, he saw a new 17th hole. I didn't realise 17 was straight

:11:15. > :11:21.ahead. I thought it was a dog-leg left. It's eye-opening to see, it is

:11:22. > :11:31.dead straight. That was very shocking to me, to see it like that.

:11:32. > :11:37.On Wednesday, the chairman unveiled a monument to that tree's role at

:11:38. > :11:39.Augusta National, a cross-section with a timeline, one section of

:11:40. > :11:48.which will remain at the club and another one will go to the

:11:49. > :11:57.Presidential Library. Friday, the sun is out. Winds are

:11:58. > :12:00.mild, great scoring conditions. Lee Westwood, second shot at the

:12:01. > :12:20.par-5 2nd hole. Push it! Push it! That close to double eagle. Dustin

:12:21. > :12:24.Johnson had eagle chances at 2 and 8.

:12:25. > :12:35.Converted both. Now, his second at 15.

:12:36. > :12:42.No-one has ever made three eagles in one round at the Masters.

:12:43. > :13:00.Kevin Na playing his fifth Masters, second shot at the par-5 13th.

:13:01. > :13:09.Sets up an eagle and he matches the best round of the day, a 66.

:13:10. > :13:30.He's alone in second after 36 holes. Justin Rose on the tee at 16,

:13:31. > :13:32.playing his tenth Masters. Shoots 70 and is tied for third with Dustin

:13:33. > :13:38.Johnson. And Paul Casey, here at 6, putting

:13:39. > :14:08.for birdie. And a round of 68. And again at 11. And he breaks 70

:14:09. > :14:16.here for the first time in four years. I'm still right there.

:14:17. > :14:19.There's not a lot of guys ahead of me. Phil Mickelson at 11, even par

:14:20. > :14:36.on today's round. Go, go! Sets up a birdie and is 3-under for

:14:37. > :14:40.the tournament. Playing alongside Rory McIlroy, who has gone out in 40

:14:41. > :14:42.and in danger of missing the cut, until this second shot at 13 sets up

:14:43. > :14:58.an eagle. Mickelson birdied 14, 15, now is at

:14:59. > :15:02.17. Generated some good speed there with the sand wedge. Awesome shot

:15:03. > :15:13.from Mickelson! 4-under on the second nine. McIlroy was one shot

:15:14. > :15:19.better. With a chip-in birdie at 17 and a closing birdie at 18.

:15:20. > :15:30.Birdie one coming in, it is. He's tied with Tiger.

:15:31. > :15:39.But the best round of this grouping came from its third member, Ryan

:15:40. > :15:42.Moore, who shot 66, tying the best round of the day. And including this

:15:43. > :15:51.near hole in 1 at 16. It's been said that one of the

:15:52. > :15:55.hardest things to do in golf is follow up a great round with another

:15:56. > :16:01.good score. Jordan Spieth drove in a bunker at the par-5 8th and left

:16:02. > :16:10.himself 229 yards for his third shot.

:16:11. > :16:17.And the result is a tap-in birdie. He goes out in 33. Now, for birdie

:16:18. > :16:38.at 10. He then adds birdies at 13, and here

:16:39. > :16:47.at 15, and equals the day's low round with a 66. This is only the

:16:48. > :16:52.halfway point. I'm aware of that. I'm going to stay in the moment and

:16:53. > :16:57.patient these last two days and understand it feels like another

:16:58. > :17:02.tournament. Spieth's total is a new tournament record after 36 holes and

:17:03. > :17:07.gives him a five-stroke lead. He is 21 and this is only his second

:17:08. > :17:10.Masters. It's a performance reminiscent of a 21-year-old Tiger

:17:11. > :17:16.Woods who set the 72-hole scoring record of 18-under par in 1997. The

:17:17. > :17:24.cut this year was 2-over and 55 players made it. His friend wrote a

:17:25. > :17:33.lyric, if it wasn't for the passage of time, we wouldn't have had the

:17:34. > :17:36.times we've had. Ben Crenshaw, 44 Masters, two wonderful wins, and now

:17:37. > :18:00.his final round in competition. I tell you one thing that happened

:18:01. > :18:04.today that was just kind of really neat, I was playing, we were playing

:18:05. > :18:12.the 12th hole, we were going across the Hogan Bridge and there is a

:18:13. > :18:17.red-tail hawk on the ground, right next to the green and Jason Dufner

:18:18. > :18:28.said, Ben Hogan's watching, you better make that putt! Of course, I

:18:29. > :18:31.choked! I choked on it. And missed it. It was surreal. It was a unique

:18:32. > :18:40.moment. They were all neat moments. His

:18:41. > :18:52.third shot at 13. He didn't miss that putt.

:18:53. > :18:58.The final walk at 18. The final putt.

:18:59. > :19:15.And a hug with his great friend, Carl Jackson. I feel like I have won

:19:16. > :19:21.the tournament! I can't... The people... I will never forget that

:19:22. > :19:24.as long as I live. All of our girls here, my wife, Julie. I can't

:19:25. > :19:32.believe I have been here 44 years, but I have. It's been a great part

:19:33. > :19:38.of my life. This place is, as you all know, has meant the world to me.

:19:39. > :19:49.There is nothing like playing your first Masters. This year, 13 pros

:19:50. > :20:00.played their first and eight made the cut. It is the easiest, the

:20:01. > :20:11.first time out here is your easiest. The third Masters invitee in history

:20:12. > :20:15.from India. 25-year-old Morgan Hoffmann shared the drive down

:20:16. > :20:22.Magnolia Lane, the fun he had during the practice rounds. We hit our

:20:23. > :20:26.tee-shot first and went up to the water's edge and skipped a 5-iron

:20:27. > :20:30.for me today, and it is always nice to have the crowd support also.

:20:31. > :20:42.Luckily, I hit the green and all was good. Stopping on Hogan's Bridge.

:20:43. > :20:50.Today in Round Three, maybe his biggest thrill.

:20:51. > :20:58.Holing out for eagle! My buddy said, you are on 3, what are you going to

:20:59. > :21:05.do? I'm going to lay up and hold a wedge. It is a crazy feeling. For

:21:06. > :21:09.35-year-old Eric Compton, his road to his first Masters included two

:21:10. > :21:18.heart transplants, the first at age 12. I have been dealing with this

:21:19. > :21:25.for 23 years of my life. I'm a competitor. That's why I'm alive. In

:21:26. > :21:27.1986 watching Jack Nicklaus, he drew this picture, imagining himself in

:21:28. > :21:44.competition one day. Go in! I'm very happy and blessed to be

:21:45. > :21:49.here. As the picture was drawn, it all turned out perfectly.

:21:50. > :21:56.In the third round, the biggest names in the field made a run at

:21:57. > :21:57.young Jordan Spieth. Rory McIlroy kick-starts his round with an eagle

:21:58. > :22:21.at 2 and shoots 68. Tiger Woods birdies 2 and then

:22:22. > :22:29.almost eagles 3. And adds another birdie at 4.

:22:30. > :22:55.Like Tiger, Phil Mickelson birdies 2 and 3! And 4!

:22:56. > :23:15.But Spieth answers. Go! With the help of a good bounce at 9.

:23:16. > :23:22.Jordan Spieth continues to tear around Augusta National Golf Club,

:23:23. > :23:32.1-under through nine today, lowering his overall score to 15-under par.

:23:33. > :23:33.Spieth has a five-shot lead, the same lead he carried into this

:23:34. > :24:10.moving day at the Masters. Four strokes back. But every time

:24:11. > :24:21.you think someone is gaining on him, the young Texan response. Jordan

:24:22. > :24:28.Spieth's tee shot at 12. And a birdie putter to go 16-under par.

:24:29. > :24:45.Phil Mickelson at 15. I flushed it. Go, right. What a shot. What a shot.

:24:46. > :24:53.He got up and down for birdie and was tied for second five back. Now,

:24:54. > :25:00.a long and improbable birdie try at 16.

:25:01. > :25:15.Oh my gosh! Crazy. It's crazy to make that part. Phil Mickelson, four

:25:16. > :25:27.strokes back. Jordan Spieth at 15. Go. That is brilliant. Exactly what

:25:28. > :25:32.he needed. He two putted for birdie and again had a five stroke lead he

:25:33. > :25:46.began the day with. Justin Rose made a run. He birdied 13, made another

:25:47. > :25:52.here at 14. Made a third at 15. And then, held at the bunker shot at 16.

:25:53. > :26:08.He was in third, six pack. Jordan Spieth on the tee at 16. Be right.

:26:09. > :26:19.Reaches 18-under par, Tiger's record score. Phil Mickelson coming off a

:26:20. > :26:31.bogey at 17 has a chance to get it back at 18. He shoots 67. At 17,

:26:32. > :26:36.Jordan Spieth's tee shot at the trees leads to a difficult third

:26:37. > :26:39.shot. It is a really hard shot, when I got up there and saw it, no part

:26:40. > :26:55.of me liked it. And he had this putt left for bogey.

:26:56. > :27:04.His first double of the tournament. And everyone at that green shade his

:27:05. > :27:11.pain. Justin Rose, tied with Phil Mickelson, patting for birdie at 18.

:27:12. > :27:29.His second, 67 of the tournament. I knew I would get into the final

:27:30. > :27:32.pairing so that will be a big experience tomorrow, Jordan is

:27:33. > :27:39.playing incredible golf and it will be great to play in with him and

:27:40. > :27:45.keep pace. I have a lot of work to do tomorrow and I'm quite a way back

:27:46. > :27:50.but a good rant. It will be fun. At 18, despite all the magnificent

:27:51. > :27:53.play, Jordan Spieth's four shot lead was in danger. He faced a daunting

:27:54. > :28:11.third. If you caught me a year and a half

:28:12. > :28:16.ago, I probably would never have played that scenario, so it was nice

:28:17. > :28:28.to see that go that way, to play the aggressive play. I'm very pleased

:28:29. > :28:35.with that up on 18. It's just... It took some guts. You can't rely on

:28:36. > :28:38.the putter that much to save me. Two major champions are right behind, so

:28:39. > :28:42.they will bring their game and I have got to have a relatively

:28:43. > :28:47.stress-free round and, when I say that, I mean I have got to give

:28:48. > :28:55.myself some tap in parts and make so many putts.

:28:56. > :29:01.This is the event. This is the major Championship we want to win the

:29:02. > :29:08.most. It gives kids something to strive for as a junior. The kids

:29:09. > :29:15.want to be at Augusta. It's just special, the place. On the Sunday

:29:16. > :29:19.before the Masters, just as much on the Sunday of the Masters, tensions

:29:20. > :29:24.and passions run high. It's the second annual drive chip and putt

:29:25. > :29:29.national finals for 80 boys and girls from ages seven up to 15.

:29:30. > :29:31.Finalists from qualifying competitions in all 50 states

:29:32. > :29:39.competing for the first prices of the New Year at Augusta National

:29:40. > :29:46.Golf Club. One week later, in the same place, where the kids competed,

:29:47. > :29:55.the last six golfers on Masters Sunday are getting ready for their

:29:56. > :30:05.final-rounds. Ads on the course, the defending champion is that the

:30:06. > :30:10.second hole. -- at the 2nd hole. I hit it perfect. I knew it was going

:30:11. > :30:14.to land on the centre of the green. It landed perfectly. I knew it was

:30:15. > :30:18.going to be good. You don't know how good from 227 yards away, but I

:30:19. > :30:24.could make even so it was good enough. Bubba Watson finished tied

:30:25. > :30:32.for 38. All eyes are looking up at Jordan Spieth. At the 1st hole, his

:30:33. > :30:43.fellow competitor, Justin Rose, for birdie. That will get your

:30:44. > :30:50.attention. Here is the birdie putt, yes. Justin made his putt to start.

:30:51. > :30:56.It was nice to drop one on top to start around. He birdied the second

:30:57. > :31:06.hole to cut the lead to three. Jordan Spieth for birdie at the 3rd.

:31:07. > :31:13.I set it out there and it broke five feet from 12-15 feet and it went in

:31:14. > :31:21.with perfect speed in the middle and I gave a little fist pump after

:31:22. > :31:26.that. Dustin Johnson had an interesting three whole run

:31:27. > :31:35.beginning here as number six. Birdie. -- hole now watch what

:31:36. > :31:42.happens at seven as he's looking over a birdie putt. The ball begins

:31:43. > :31:49.to move. Closer and closer to the hole. It had not been marked, no

:31:50. > :31:59.penalty, and left him a much shorter birdie putt. For two in a row. Now,

:32:00. > :32:07.at eight, he is chipping in for eagle.

:32:08. > :32:13.The ball hung on the lip but would not drop. Jordan Spieth made a bogey

:32:14. > :32:23.at five and then this drive at seven. It led to another. Rose,

:32:24. > :32:31.coming off a bogey of his own at six, was in danger of making

:32:32. > :32:38.another. Here we go. Straight back to their cats. This is perfect. This

:32:39. > :32:46.could be a three. He saved par and two or three behind the leader. --

:32:47. > :32:53.cut. Tiger, 1-over on his round, this shot at 9 cents a bolt of pain

:32:54. > :33:01.through his wrist. You had to wonder whether he would be able to finish.

:33:02. > :33:16.Jordan Spieth, chipping for eagle at eight. Made that for birdie. Rose,

:33:17. > :33:24.on a more difficult line, had chipped eight feet past the hole.

:33:25. > :33:28.And again, trailed by four. One year ago in the Masters, he lost to Bubba

:33:29. > :33:38.Watson, Jordan Spieth faced the same shot at nine as he did this year.

:33:39. > :33:42.The difference was huge. It was just, last year versus this year. I

:33:43. > :33:50.felt more comfortable. The ball stays up last year came down, it was

:33:51. > :33:55.symbolic in a way. I made par there, Justin Rose gave me a three shot

:33:56. > :34:03.lead going into the back nine. I was aware of that at the time, trying to

:34:04. > :34:05.play Match Play from there. Phil Mickelson made two birdies and two

:34:06. > :34:18.bogeys on his first nine. It should release coming from the

:34:19. > :34:24.rough. That is a fabulous golf shot. Oh my goodness!

:34:25. > :34:40.At 13, Hideki Matsuyama, two-time Asian Pacific amateur champion had a

:34:41. > :34:50.round of the day going, 5-under after the eagle. At 11, Rory McIlroy

:34:51. > :34:54.had a birdie putt. And he was 3-under on the day. That the leader

:34:55. > :35:00.kept shutting the door on all their hopes. Hit a putt which broke left

:35:01. > :35:07.to right and it went in with perfect speed. I really still one there. I

:35:08. > :35:14.think I birdied three times this week. Played it 3-under. It is a

:35:15. > :35:18.hard hole. That was the key hole for me this week. Tiger was able to keep

:35:19. > :35:25.playing, though his round was a struggle. Tiger for eagle. Finally

:35:26. > :35:31.hits the fairway. Finally takes advantage of hitting a fairway. At

:35:32. > :35:39.11, Jordan Spieth put another tee shot in the trees. It couldn't have

:35:40. > :35:42.hit a better second shot at 11. I didn't have many other options and

:35:43. > :35:46.the Lott could have gone wrong but. If it catches a pine needle and goes

:35:47. > :35:51.in the air and catches a tree, it could be a big number. I was in a

:35:52. > :35:58.good position but left it to where it was just two foot from centre.

:35:59. > :36:06.Ideal. I just stole a stroke back. I feel like I still one on ten and 11.

:36:07. > :36:10.I was statistically 1-over. On those two holes. Now, on the tee at 12,

:36:11. > :36:17.you gain applied the lessons learned in his first Masters. On that

:36:18. > :36:28.Sunday, his tee shot found the water.

:36:29. > :36:40.On this Sunday, he made sure it did not. Sit down. Sit down. Down. 12,

:36:41. > :36:46.hit it over the bunker instead of last year, going to the pin and

:36:47. > :36:50.hitting it into the water. Charley Hoffman, so strong through the first

:36:51. > :37:01.three rounds, struggled on Sunday and was 3-over as he played 13. He

:37:02. > :37:10.finished in a tie for ninth. Jordan Spieth, cross the bridge, named for

:37:11. > :37:11.fellow Texan, Ben Hogan. Phil Mickelson, six behind, for eagle, at

:37:12. > :37:34.13. Settled for a birdie. Jordan Spieth

:37:35. > :37:41.had this for par at 12. Just too aggressive, 3-putt. The lead was

:37:42. > :37:44.suddenly down to four strokes. Every time he seemed vulnerable, someone

:37:45. > :37:52.else might have a chance, he hit a golf shot which said, no, you don't.

:37:53. > :38:00.13 was the biggest shot I've ever had in my life. Coming off a 3-putt,

:38:01. > :38:09.and Justin being in a good spot off the tee, I needed to do something.

:38:10. > :38:22.Go, hard. Go! What an absolutely brilliant shot. I was yelling, get

:38:23. > :38:26.up, get up, and, when it landed from my angle, I thought it would go in

:38:27. > :38:33.the water and all of a sudden, a law came up. It was on the peninsula. He

:38:34. > :38:44.two putted for birdie. The film acolyte, the par-5, 15th. A little

:38:45. > :38:56.left to right. A beautiful shot. An eagle three. Rose, in third place,

:38:57. > :39:06.was putting for eagle at 13. And he settled for birdie. Rory McIlroy,

:39:07. > :39:16.for eagle at 15. Went to 5-under on his round. Five holes to play and a

:39:17. > :39:26.five stroke lead. Phil Mickelson fell to third after a bogey at 14.

:39:27. > :39:31.Justin Rose, for birdie at 14. And was four strokes back again. Phil

:39:32. > :39:48.Mickelson, at 15. Eagle! He ties Justin Rose for

:39:49. > :40:01.second place. Four behind Jordan Spieth. At 18, Hideki Matsuyama for

:40:02. > :40:05.birdie. And the best round of the day, 66. He played all four rounds

:40:06. > :40:15.under par and finished in fifth place. Here we go. He's going to go

:40:16. > :40:33.right at it. Be good. I think it might be. It

:40:34. > :40:35.will work. That will work just fine. The patrons got behind Phil

:40:36. > :40:36.Mickelson and his caddy pulled the flag stick for his bunker shot at

:40:37. > :41:03.16. Now watch. And he saved his par. He

:41:04. > :41:17.still brilliant, isn't he, at that? Jordan Spieth for birdie at 15. Yes!

:41:18. > :41:27.He has been relentless. First ever to 19-under par, Justin Rose for

:41:28. > :41:33.birdie. In second place on his own. Trailing by four with three holes to

:41:34. > :41:53.play. Jordan Spieth on the tee at 16. Sit down.

:41:54. > :42:01.This is Tiger in 2005. This is the shot. Let chipper this thing in the

:42:02. > :42:03.fourth I think that was arguably the greatest shot which has ever been

:42:04. > :42:23.hit in Championship golf. I was sitting there looking at it.

:42:24. > :42:34.An easier chip but the same kind of, pitch it up. Missed the chip and had

:42:35. > :42:38.a five or six footer. The one time it got interesting for me was the

:42:39. > :42:46.16th hole. I felt if I could make Jordan miss his potential, and I'm

:42:47. > :42:53.two back with two to play... A good-looking putt. Just across the

:42:54. > :42:57.front edge of the hole. At that point, I didn't care what it looked

:42:58. > :43:02.like, didn't care about my posture, the mechanics, it was all based on

:43:03. > :43:05.feelings. It was a huge moment, let's knock this thing in.

:43:06. > :43:17.CROWD CHEERS Could've been a two shot, all

:43:18. > :43:24.square. I would call that the biggest putt I've ever had in my

:43:25. > :43:34.entire life. At 18, Rory McIlroy finishing. With a birdie and a 66 of

:43:35. > :43:45.his own. Tiger, for bogey, and a 73. Phil Mickelson for par and a round

:43:46. > :44:01.of 69. I'm happy with how I played.

:44:02. > :44:04.Obviously going to take a lot of positives from it. If someone told

:44:05. > :44:08.me I'd finished 12-under par at the start of the week I would have taken

:44:09. > :44:11.it and sat back and seeing where I finished. I played very well to

:44:12. > :44:19.shoot 49 and I simply got outplayed. By a young player who just played

:44:20. > :44:23.some incredible golf. Indeed he did. He walked to a team about to be the

:44:24. > :44:30.first wire to wire winner since Raymond Floyd in 1976. His family

:44:31. > :44:32.looking on, mum and dad getting cuddles from Bubba Watson, who kept

:44:33. > :44:45.their son from winning last year. Justin Rose bogeyed the final hole

:44:46. > :44:48.and finished in a second-place tie with Phil Mickelson. Jordan didn't

:44:49. > :44:53.really open the door and I didn't expect him to. He's played with the

:44:54. > :44:59.lead now for the last month it feels like and he's obviously very

:45:00. > :45:11.comfortable doing that. And this putt was for a new tournament

:45:12. > :45:19.scoring record. It's OK. It's OK. CROWD CHEERS

:45:20. > :45:31.It's incredible. The best feeling I've ever felt. This was arguably

:45:32. > :45:47.the greatest day of my life. He takes his place in Masters history.

:45:48. > :46:08.I would be grateful if you would please do the honour of placing the

:46:09. > :46:22.green jacket on Jordan. To go down on the list of these

:46:23. > :46:27.winners is just an honour. I believe it is somewhat of a life changing

:46:28. > :46:35.experience. I plan to represent this jacket the way others have and they

:46:36. > :46:37.have said a really high bar. It was extraordinary performance from

:46:38. > :46:41.Jordan Spieth and it was really just the start of a phenomenal year in

:46:42. > :46:47.which he also won the US Open and five titles in total. So, now comes

:46:48. > :46:50.the hard part, following it up. Can Jordan Spieth follow in the

:46:51. > :46:55.footsteps of Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods to become only

:46:56. > :47:00.the fourth man in history to retain the Masters title? Well, he will

:47:01. > :47:03.know more from Thursday and this is our plan for coverage over the

:47:04. > :47:06.coming days. We will have an in-depth look at the contenders for

:47:07. > :47:12.this year 's Masters in tomorrow night preview programme on BBC Two

:47:13. > :47:17.at 11:15pm. For viewers in Scotland, half an hour later. Then highlights

:47:18. > :47:23.of the opening round on Friday in the BBC Two, 6:30pm. And second

:47:24. > :47:27.round highlights follow on Saturday afternoon, 1:30pm on BBC One and

:47:28. > :47:31.that rails into our lives and uninterrupted coverage of the whole

:47:32. > :47:36.of the weekend 's play. So I hope you will make a date with us here at

:47:37. > :47:37.Augusta, surely the most evocative, beautiful and exciting venue in

:47:38. > :47:51.sport. Catch you soon. Bye-bye. # Is this the road we walked all

:47:52. > :48:05.those years ago? # Are these the parts we crossed we should really

:48:06. > :48:23.know # Is it the darkness # Of passing time? # That makes it hard

:48:24. > :48:32.to see the finish line? # But when all is said and done # It is still

:48:33. > :49:03.today # To make up for the time it didn't go our way # And maybe why

:49:04. > :49:05.one light still needs to shine # If we are to reach the finish line. #.
