:00:27. > :00:35.Hello. Glad you could join us. Your timing is perfect, because something

:00:36. > :00:40.special is brewing here at The Masters in Augusta. We have got what

:00:41. > :00:44.we wanted - two of the game's young superstars head to head in the final

:00:45. > :00:49.pairing in round three. Between them they have won four of the last six

:00:50. > :00:53.Majors. Jordan Spieth is only the fourth man successfully to defend

:00:54. > :00:58.The Masters title. Rory McIlory is chasing something even bigger - a

:00:59. > :01:03.green, either,, and with it, a career Grand Slam. Only one shot

:01:04. > :01:07.separate them. Only seven men are under par in what has been a very

:01:08. > :01:16.breezy week. For a while it look like it would never get that close.

:01:17. > :01:21.For some, the drive up the famous Lane must feel like coming home.

:01:22. > :01:27.Jordan Spieth arrived short on form but was then transformed as he put

:01:28. > :01:33.in a 66, a round, like this place itself, without blemish. Rickie

:01:34. > :01:38.Fowler shot 80, and Ernie Els fell to the putting madness in his head.

:01:39. > :01:44.Then there were those two would rise to the challenge. Shane Lowry would

:01:45. > :01:49.finish with a 68 - four under par. And what of Rory McIlory? Some good,

:01:50. > :01:55.some bad. Stumbling over the final three holes, but 70 - a solid start,

:01:56. > :02:03.four shots behind the even younger master, leading The Masters in this

:02:04. > :02:07.extraordinary place. In round two, McIlory was on the move, initially

:02:08. > :02:14.with steps forward and find before getting birdies on 13 and 15. And he

:02:15. > :02:18.had to move, because Spieth had started well, at one stage getting

:02:19. > :02:26.to eight under. Was this to become another Spieth parade? Tom Watson,

:02:27. > :02:31.one of the greats, took his leave. Ian Woosnam would also say fell

:02:32. > :02:36.well. But today's generation was struggling. Paul Casey, Ian Poulter

:02:37. > :02:41.and others faded on a day when no-one would break 70. On the back

:02:42. > :02:46.nine, Jordan Spieth started to flap in the wind. The best golf was

:02:47. > :02:56.coming from the precise engineering of a matter Bryson DeChambeau, until

:02:57. > :03:01.his machinery broke down. Which left Spieth to recover his poise and

:03:02. > :03:04.retain his lead - now a slender lead. And to ensure a meeting with

:03:05. > :03:10.McIlory on the weekend at The Masters.

:03:11. > :03:17.At one point, McIlory was eight shots behind, but they start today

:03:18. > :03:21.separated by only one shot. Spieth having shot the first over par round

:03:22. > :03:27.in his Masters career. McIlory did well yes, today on a brutal day for

:03:28. > :03:33.scoring. Danny Lee is tied for third with Scott Piercy. Three shots back,

:03:34. > :03:38.Soren Kjeldsen and Brandt Snedeker. Sheffield's Danny Willett is another

:03:39. > :03:47.of nine UK players to have made the cut. Australia's world number one

:03:48. > :03:57.Jason Day is not that far away, either. The halfway cut fell at six

:03:58. > :04:06.over, four shots higher than it was last year, in maddening winds. Phil

:04:07. > :04:10.Mickelson posted a 79, his worst score at Augusta, and he misses the

:04:11. > :04:17.weekend, as do many other former champions. Tom Watson bids farewell,

:04:18. > :04:20.as does Ian Woosnam, also announced that this is his last Masters as

:04:21. > :04:28.well. We will be hearing from him later. But look to the wind has

:04:29. > :04:35.blown into our studio today. Could this weekend be even better set up

:04:36. > :04:39.vanities? No, I don't think so. I have been coming for more than 40

:04:40. > :04:44.years and I have seen it a lot worse than this. But it is risky. The

:04:45. > :04:49.course is in very good condition, as always, even though they knew the

:04:50. > :04:53.wind was going to blow, 90% of the flags are in almost impossible

:04:54. > :05:00.places, so they have not become soft-hearted overnight! We have all

:05:01. > :05:05.the best players in the world here, so there will be something for

:05:06. > :05:10.everybody. Paul, when we look back at that round from Jordan Spieth

:05:11. > :05:17.yesterday's, going over par for the first time here, but it has opened

:05:18. > :05:21.up this tournament? Yes, and he was not the only one who'd struggled.

:05:22. > :05:29.There is a lot of pressure here at Augusta National. You think you have

:05:30. > :05:33.hit a great shot and it does not quite stop, and the next thing, you

:05:34. > :05:38.are on the other side of the lake. It is a terrifying golf course,? Is

:05:39. > :05:47.difficult to be comfortable on at any moment. It brought everybody

:05:48. > :05:50.into a big cluster. What for you, Peter, has been the most difficult

:05:51. > :05:57.aspect of the conditions? They must be the worst in almost a decade? I

:05:58. > :06:02.don't think we should get carried away with how strong the wind is.

:06:03. > :06:05.Players have been out in a lot worse than this. It is the condition of

:06:06. > :06:10.the greens, the speed of the greens, the position of the flags, the

:06:11. > :06:13.contours, the way they cut the grass, all sorts of things, which

:06:14. > :06:17.normal folk do not take into account. As Paul just said, you can

:06:18. > :06:24.think you are safe by 12 yards on the 15th, and suddenly, it is down

:06:25. > :06:30.there. It borders on unfair, sometimes, in my opinion. A very

:06:31. > :06:35.frustrating golf course to play everyday, I would think. And if you

:06:36. > :06:40.play poorly at Augusta, it seems to linger longer. If you miss the cut

:06:41. > :06:45.at the US Open, you go back out there the next week... But at

:06:46. > :06:49.Augusta, it feels like it exposes all of your weaknesses to me. If you

:06:50. > :06:53.are not a high ball hitter, cannot play at Augusta. If you do not know

:06:54. > :06:58.how to clip it off the tight grasp on to us if you play poorly here, it

:06:59. > :07:02.has a long-lasting effect, I feel. And it does not help when you have

:07:03. > :07:08.got 80mph winds, north-westerly,, which will affect them at the par

:07:09. > :07:18.fives. Gusting at 25mph, as it has been. This is at the 7th. Justin

:07:19. > :07:25.Thomas has got something like 8ft for par, and the wind just takes it.

:07:26. > :07:31.And it goes about 45ft past. That is the danger, just as we saw last year

:07:32. > :07:36.at the open championship. The 11th at St Andrews last year, out on the

:07:37. > :07:44.peninsula, was really exposed to the wind. And the 7th as well. Straight

:07:45. > :07:52.downwind today. It is a game of degrees. Could be fun! If you watch

:07:53. > :07:57.that picture again, I am not saying it is easy, but he hits it, and he

:07:58. > :08:07.is like this before it has gone that far. So really, if you just... If!

:08:08. > :08:13.It was one of those, to start with! Your ball flight has to be

:08:14. > :08:17.predetermined here at The Masters. Great wind players do not

:08:18. > :08:22.necessarily excel here. Most of them think they can change the trajectory

:08:23. > :08:25.of their ball flight, but here, you are required to hit the ball in the

:08:26. > :08:35.air, in most cases, up wind or downwind, does not matter. Jamie

:08:36. > :08:39.Donaldson had four putts on the same green, by the way. We are about 20

:08:40. > :08:43.minutes away from the start of coverage. We have about 15 minutes

:08:44. > :08:49.until the leading pair of Spieth and McIlory go out. This is how it looks

:08:50. > :08:52.right now. There is not that much forward momentum on the leaderboard,

:08:53. > :09:03.as you can see. We have got Matsuyama level, having played the

:09:04. > :09:11.first. Jamie Holmes -- JB Holmes has picked shot, as has Bernhard Langer.

:09:12. > :09:14.Smylie Kaufman has been doing great things on the PGA Tour. But Jordan

:09:15. > :09:18.Spieth is ready to go out. He has known nothing other than the final

:09:19. > :09:22.pairing at the weekend here. He has been the outright lead in each of

:09:23. > :09:26.the last six rounds, but he had a torrid day yesterday's. These were

:09:27. > :09:32.his reflections on that round, with Rishi Persad. Jordan, a different

:09:33. > :09:38.day today, how do you look back on that 74? Not as a 74! We kept the

:09:39. > :09:45.lid, but I need to learn from what I did on number five, a few different

:09:46. > :09:49.holes, where, even though we caught tough breaks with the wind, compared

:09:50. > :09:54.to what it should have been doing, I then kind of shot myself in the foot

:09:55. > :09:57.and gave away two or three shots today from my decision-making on the

:09:58. > :10:02.next strokes. There is nothing you can do about gusting winds. You hope

:10:03. > :10:08.you are on the good side of it more than the bad. But I did not leave

:10:09. > :10:15.myself are correct leafs after that. I learned from that, and I will do

:10:16. > :10:19.so again. Bound to catch the wrong side of some gusts tomorrow. I will

:10:20. > :10:23.do my best to make four in that situation. Difficult to control the

:10:24. > :10:28.emotions when you are being tested like you were today? Yes, of course.

:10:29. > :10:30.And when you still have more difficult holes left and you're

:10:31. > :10:36.trying to figure out how to keep the ball on the green... I mean, I did

:10:37. > :10:38.not hit many greens at all invigilation today. When you are

:10:39. > :10:45.trying to chip onto these greens, it is just so challenging. It can wear

:10:46. > :10:53.on your bit. Leading The Masters going into the weekend, what are you

:10:54. > :10:57.feeling right now? I feel fine. You should never say you are

:10:58. > :11:01.disappointed, because I am not. At the same time, I have the chance

:11:02. > :11:05.today to separate myself a bit - and I didn't. It is going to be very

:11:06. > :11:09.much a battle these last couple of days. I want to find a nice

:11:10. > :11:13.consistent ball flight that I can play in this wind and just do what I

:11:14. > :11:17.can to hold the middle of the greens. We spoke to Rory today and

:11:18. > :11:21.he said how much he enjoyed the prospect of locking horns with you.

:11:22. > :11:25.What do you think about that, no disrespect to the other players?

:11:26. > :11:29.Yes, I think it will be very exciting. Hopefully the next couple

:11:30. > :11:32.of days bring out one of the better battles that have ever happened

:11:33. > :11:38.here. That would be a lot of fun if I was a part of that. Rory has

:11:39. > :11:42.proven himself in Majors. I think it would be a lot of fun for both of

:11:43. > :11:48.us, even though it will be a grind. Look forward to it.

:11:49. > :11:56.Still only 22, behaves like a veteran. What characterised his

:11:57. > :11:59.round for you, Peter? Well, he just hit a few shots, which did not go in

:12:00. > :12:08.the right place. Golf is more simple than a lot of us, and then, try and

:12:09. > :12:13.make out. The conditions can make it difficult. If you hit the fairways

:12:14. > :12:16.and the greens, and you don't 3-putt, you are a very good player.

:12:17. > :12:22.That is where I disagree with my darling friend here, 70% of the ball

:12:23. > :12:27.to have won The Masters never hit the ball more than 20ft above the

:12:28. > :12:31.ground. People laying up on the par fives and pitching up. Only about

:12:32. > :12:36.eight people in my memory have ever hit it up there. They have links and

:12:37. > :12:40.the course over the years -- they have lengthened the course over the

:12:41. > :12:46.years and it has become more obvious that if you can do that on some

:12:47. > :12:51.holes, then it is very good. But you only have to look at the list of the

:12:52. > :12:58.winners. Not big ball hitters. If you go back 30-40 years. But this is

:12:59. > :13:02.the fascination. Spieth appears to be, as I said before, from another

:13:03. > :13:10.world. There is a calmness about him, almost as if he has got the

:13:11. > :13:15.genes of about ten geniuses from a thousand years ago! Very true! We

:13:16. > :13:19.are so used to seeing him in control, but there were a couple of

:13:20. > :13:23.moments, particularly with his caddie, which we have not seen a

:13:24. > :13:31.great deal of. I know they can pick a, but this was on a different

:13:32. > :13:38.level. That is not the question I asked you. When you fall out with

:13:39. > :13:42.your partner, I usually give him the silent treatment, but there was none

:13:43. > :13:45.of that! This is a new Jordan Spieth. Two years ago, he did a lot

:13:46. > :13:50.of chirping with his caddie. You do not need a broadcast team when

:13:51. > :13:54.Jordan Spieth is playing - he will give you all the analogy you need.

:13:55. > :13:59.It is not new to him. People thought he acted like a spoiled brat here

:14:00. > :14:03.two years ago. Last year he won it and followed up with the US Open.

:14:04. > :14:16.That is just kind of the way he is. He likes to deflect. It is about we,

:14:17. > :14:19.it is not I, it is we. That is just the way his mentality is. He has

:14:20. > :14:25.surrounded himself with the people he trusts, and for him, it is a we

:14:26. > :14:31.philosophy. And here he is on the range. About six minutes before him

:14:32. > :14:38.and Rory go back out. A really fighting performance once again from

:14:39. > :14:45.heat, particularly with that saving putt at the 18th. It is a vicious

:14:46. > :14:50.mental battle out there. You do not get much silence. As soon as you hit

:14:51. > :14:53.the shot, you look up and you have an interest in that shot. You have

:14:54. > :15:00.got to win these mental fights. Jordan Spieth, he wins a lot of

:15:01. > :15:04.mental battles. When you are standing over a putt like that, and

:15:05. > :15:08.you have got to make it, you have got to stroke the putt with

:15:09. > :15:12.certainty. Commitment is not swinging harder. Rickie Fowler said

:15:13. > :15:16.it - it is swinging with more certainty. That is what the best

:15:17. > :15:21.players do when they are playing their best. There is plenty of

:15:22. > :15:27.conviction as well with Rory McIlory, Newsround yesterday's was

:15:28. > :15:33.only one of four under par. As tough as conditions were today,

:15:34. > :15:39.how much did you enjoy playing those 18 holes? I enjoyed the back nine,

:15:40. > :15:43.for sure. I had a bit of a wobble on the front nine, but I kept my

:15:44. > :15:48.composure. I had a go at trying to play the front nine under par. I was

:15:49. > :15:57.not able to do that, but I knew there would be opportunities coming

:15:58. > :16:00.up on the likes of 13 and 15. I knew I would have some chances on the

:16:01. > :16:05.back nine, and thankfully I took some of them, to leave me in this

:16:06. > :16:09.position. Obviously, very happy with that going into the weekend. The

:16:10. > :16:14.round was dotted with some superb moments, the big birdie on 16... But

:16:15. > :16:20.how important was that par putt on 18? It was huge. 18 is playing

:16:21. > :16:25.tough. The last few holes are really playing tough. 17 downwind, and 18,

:16:26. > :16:31.cannot aim your ball far enough to left, because you will just hit

:16:32. > :16:35.trees! So it is a tough tee-shot. Thankfully I was able to make par

:16:36. > :16:43.there. I was disappointed coming off last night, but feeling a lot better

:16:44. > :16:46.today. Fans everywhere would love to see you locking horns with Jordan

:16:47. > :16:50.Spieth over the weekend - how much would that get the juices flowing

:16:51. > :16:54.for you? Obviously, Jordan is the defending champion and he is playing

:16:55. > :16:59.great here. He is very comfortable on this golf course. I feel like I

:17:00. > :17:03.have got some unfinished business here over the past few years. I

:17:04. > :17:09.would look forward to it. Jordan is playing very, very well. If I were

:17:10. > :17:16.to have a battle with him over the next two days, I would enjoy it and

:17:17. > :17:22.hopefully I could just come out on top!

:17:23. > :17:28.It is fascinating to think that Jordan and Rory have played together

:17:29. > :17:34.here before but never in any tournament on the final weekend.

:17:35. > :17:37.Doing the maths, looking at this, Rory has outscored Jordan by 28

:17:38. > :17:42.shots when they have been paired together. Does that interest you? It

:17:43. > :17:47.does. It makes a difference. There were guys I played with in my career

:17:48. > :17:51.and I played great in front of, and others I did not play well in front

:17:52. > :17:54.of. That can have an effect on the player going into a situation like

:17:55. > :18:01.this. Here comes Rory, making his way from the practice area, up onto

:18:02. > :18:09.the tee. They are squaring up here for the first time ever worldwide on

:18:10. > :18:13.the final weekend. Rory McIlory will need the golfing weekend of his life

:18:14. > :18:22.to claim one of the greatest prizes in the sport, and making it the

:18:23. > :18:27.career Grand Slam. Coverage will be beginning fire our host

:18:28. > :18:33.broadcasters, within a few minutes. Rory and others are trying to bridge

:18:34. > :18:39.the gap back to a golden era of European success, when we had 11

:18:40. > :18:42.winners in 20 years. It is 25 years this year since a certain Welshman,

:18:43. > :18:55.Ian Woosnam, had his finest moment here.

:18:56. > :19:04.Seve Ballesteros, Sandy Lyle, Nick Faldo, if I can beat them, I can win

:19:05. > :19:11.a major. All of a sudden, this is your big chance, what you have been

:19:12. > :19:16.dreaming about all your life. I just aimed it down the middle and hit it

:19:17. > :19:24.as hard as I could. It carried straight over the top. It was the

:19:25. > :19:31.safest place to go. They could not move the crowd. So in the end, I

:19:32. > :19:43.said, how far is it? He says, I think it is 146. At the lie and hit

:19:44. > :19:48.it. And I was surprised to see how far right it was. I actually thought

:19:49. > :19:58.it was upon the green, I did not think it was there. But the best to

:19:59. > :20:02.do was just to try to putt it. I was very nervous, but with confidence as

:20:03. > :20:05.well. I knew if I missed it that I would be in the play-off - and I

:20:06. > :20:09.think that made it easier for me. PETER ALLISS: Yes, what a man!

:20:10. > :20:29.Fantastic stuff! And a quarter of a century later, he

:20:30. > :20:34.has played his last Masters here. He announced it yet today. But they can

:20:35. > :20:38.never take that jacket away from you. I understand it was quite

:20:39. > :20:43.tricky getting hold of it today? Yes, obviously, I missed the cut,

:20:44. > :20:46.and they take them away and store them somewhere. Of course I came

:20:47. > :20:50.back, I knew I was doing the interview today, I thought I would

:20:51. > :20:56.wear it, and they managed to get it in just-in-time. It looks

:20:57. > :20:59.resplendent, as ever. All these 25 years since winning it, what is the

:21:00. > :21:05.one moment that you always recall when you walk up 18? Barry Island on

:21:06. > :21:12.the 25 years ago, but I think the most special moment is when I drive

:21:13. > :21:16.down Magnolia Lane and you think, you are back. Hopefully I will be

:21:17. > :21:21.coming back for another 25 years. Was it a difficult decision to say,

:21:22. > :21:26.that is enough, competitively? It was difficult. I have been

:21:27. > :21:29.struggling for a few years now. I was playing beautiful before I came

:21:30. > :21:35.here and looking forward to it, but I had a couple of practice rounds,

:21:36. > :21:38.and my back got really tired. If you are not using your legs right around

:21:39. > :21:42.this course, you will not go anywhere. Peter, you were

:21:43. > :21:48.commentating obviously, and Ian was number one in the world. It was the

:21:49. > :21:52.first week you had come in as world number one - what stays with you

:21:53. > :21:55.about his performance that week, Peter? Just that he was youthful and

:21:56. > :22:00.buoyant, and he had a very interesting caddie, which was very

:22:01. > :22:04.much part of the game of golf. Together, they were joyous and

:22:05. > :22:08.happy. And he was one of ours, and he had won. It was a happy time,

:22:09. > :22:19.that is what I remember. Was a dominant time for European golf. And

:22:20. > :22:25.it followed... For you, is it close, for such a period of European

:22:26. > :22:27.domination to be beginning again? Yes, when you watch these guys,

:22:28. > :22:33.McIlory and Spieth and the others, it is wonderful. What gets me is how

:22:34. > :22:40.they speak in front of the public and in the media. We had the dinner

:22:41. > :22:43.the other night, and he was just sitting there like he was a

:22:44. > :22:48.choirboy. I cannot believe it, 22 years of age and just spoke

:22:49. > :22:52.beautifully. What is your opinion of the way it is set up, and indeed of

:22:53. > :22:56.how difficult it has been playing the last couple of years, you know

:22:57. > :23:01.this place better than most? I was in the studio just earlier, and Paul

:23:02. > :23:04.was saying, you have got to hit the ball high. Peter says, you have got

:23:05. > :23:12.to hit it a bit lower. You have got to do a bit of everything, if you

:23:13. > :23:15.ask me. You want to hit it high down the wind, and lower into the wind. A

:23:16. > :23:20.good player has got to have everything - lowball, high ball,

:23:21. > :23:24.fades, draws, everything. With this wind today, it will be very

:23:25. > :23:27.difficult. Is this perhaps some of the most challenging conditions you

:23:28. > :23:33.have seen at Augusta? I think it is passing as you get older, it is more

:23:34. > :23:38.difficult. On the greens, you just see the slopes more. You know what

:23:39. > :23:42.is going to go wrong. With these youngsters, they don't see that so

:23:43. > :23:47.much. They can hit it 6ft past and put it in. They do not know what it

:23:48. > :23:51.is like to miss yet. It is exciting. I know you should go back a long

:23:52. > :23:58.way. Did you not caddie for Ian at some point?! Yes! Hill Valley! I

:23:59. > :24:03.will never forget it, Peter and David Thompson, Hill Valley in

:24:04. > :24:09.Shropshire, and I caddied for Peter. I was 16 years of age, and he had

:24:10. > :24:15.got this leather bag, it was so heavy. I was as strong as an ox. I

:24:16. > :24:21.am sure he put bricks in it! It was a grand occasion! I gave him a

:24:22. > :24:26.couple of... They were not new, but I gave him a couple of not too bad

:24:27. > :24:31.golf balls. He look at them like that. He was expecting about three

:24:32. > :24:35.quid, I think! He has always been a bit tight, Ian, that is for sure!

:24:36. > :24:46.One thing I know that is missing from your CV is an entry to the

:24:47. > :24:51.world Golf Hall of Fame. I am sure it will not be long before they put

:24:52. > :24:58.that right. Long may you continue to wear that jacket. This afternoon,

:24:59. > :25:03.our leaders are just about to go off. We can have a look now and see

:25:04. > :25:09.Jordan Spieth, the defending champion, at the first.

:25:10. > :25:19.This was playing one of the most difficult holes yesterday's, but

:25:20. > :25:26.that was straight and true. He has been leading here for the last six

:25:27. > :25:29.rounds. Now, Rory McIlory, who got so close in 2011. One shot behind,

:25:30. > :25:54.starting his round today. COMMENTATOR: Beautiful. Beautiful

:25:55. > :26:02.swing. HAZEL IRVINE: This looks good. He

:26:03. > :26:07.has gone well past the bunker. No trouble, and we are off and running.

:26:08. > :26:11.So, let's get an update on the conditions. Ken Brown has been out

:26:12. > :26:16.on the course today, and this is really a day when a can of her spray

:26:17. > :26:20.makes no difference at all. At the back of the range, the wind

:26:21. > :26:26.is whistling about at the moment in all different directions, probably

:26:27. > :26:31.25mph and gusting. As we look at the lads on the range, they are really

:26:32. > :26:35.almost out straight. The flag to the left of the green, you can see where

:26:36. > :26:40.it is blowing. A lot of the players will take what I call a wind map, a

:26:41. > :26:44.plan of the golf course, in the back of their yardage books, to mark the

:26:45. > :26:46.wind direction. On the practice ground at the moment, it is blowing

:26:47. > :26:52.virtually straight into you. And then you look at the other holes and

:26:53. > :27:00.they will be able to have a guide as to where the wind is blowing. Today,

:27:01. > :27:03.the 1st, if the wind stays as it is, it will be virtually in the same

:27:04. > :27:07.direction as the practice ground. So, the first hole will be straight

:27:08. > :27:11.into the breeze. And it is whipping around, changing direction.

:27:12. > :27:15.Selection will be very tricky. This should tell us how strong the breeze

:27:16. > :27:25.is. It is gone. So it is going to be really tough. A par on the first

:27:26. > :27:28.would be a great result. Bubba Watson was the last of the 57

:27:29. > :27:34.players to make the cut, on six over par. We can show you some of the

:27:35. > :27:37.headline groups this afternoon. Shane Lowry made such a

:27:38. > :27:43.scintillating start to his second campaign at Augusta. He started from

:27:44. > :27:48.four shots behind today, alongside the fascinating leading a matter

:27:49. > :27:51.Bryson DeChambeau. The leading Leishman this year is Sheffield's

:27:52. > :28:01.world number 12, Danny Willett, out with Sergio Garcia in the Spaniard's

:28:02. > :28:05.70th Major. New Zealand's Danny Lee plays alongside America's Scott

:28:06. > :28:12.Piercy. Both won titles on the PGA Tour last year. And as you have just

:28:13. > :28:14.seen, the top attraction, Spieth and McIlory, with six Major titles

:28:15. > :28:21.between them. They went off minutes ago. They are not the only ones we

:28:22. > :28:30.are talking about. I just wonder what other players these gentlemen

:28:31. > :28:34.might have their eye on... I am not one of these folks to predict all of

:28:35. > :28:39.these things. If you look down the list, there are ten-12 people within

:28:40. > :28:44.a couple of shots. This event has been won by someone, who has been

:28:45. > :28:49.six shots behind with nine holes to play full stop not 36 holes to play!

:28:50. > :28:52.Gary Player said, many moons ago - if they covered the greens with

:28:53. > :28:57.lumps of coal, somebody would go round in 66. Now, that is possible

:28:58. > :29:04.today. All sorts of things can happen. You could get someone from

:29:05. > :29:11.eight shots behind suddenly... It can all go like this. I have always

:29:12. > :29:14.fancied Henrik Stenson. I think Joe is a magnificent player. The years

:29:15. > :29:20.have gone by and he has not managed it yet. But these should, everyone

:29:21. > :29:25.says you have got to get off to a nice start. You do not want to mess

:29:26. > :29:29.about on the first two or three holes. If Rory is level par after

:29:30. > :29:32.four, at worst, he will become to. There are some fascinating

:29:33. > :29:38.characters in the chasing pack. I know you have your eye on Bryson

:29:39. > :29:42.DeChambeau, and he has the potential perhaps to change the way we think

:29:43. > :29:46.about playing the game of golf? He is probably the most interesting

:29:47. > :29:51.character in the game already, and this is the first time he has been

:29:52. > :29:55.on the world stage. He won the United States amateur,, which is a

:29:56. > :29:58.rare feat. I think he is one of the few people who comes out onto the

:29:59. > :30:02.Tour, completely secure in what he is trying to do. That is supposed to

:30:03. > :30:11.be the weak part of his game! He plays his grubs extremely upright.

:30:12. > :30:16.-- his clubs. How many physics Majors are playing the PGA Tour? Has

:30:17. > :30:21.been able to converge the artist and the engineer. And for me, I think he

:30:22. > :30:27.is on a high trajectory. Years ago, there was a man called import moody

:30:28. > :30:32.Blake, was a member at Wentworth golf club. He had these ideas.

:30:33. > :30:35.Fascinating for me today to discover that he went into the clubhouse

:30:36. > :30:40.here, and there was a set of clubs, which Bobby Jones had used, and they

:30:41. > :30:44.were all the same length. That is fascinating, because the clubs he is

:30:45. > :30:50.using, all of the irons are the same length. He calls it zero shifting

:30:51. > :30:55.motion. It is not just the length of the clubs, it is the positioning of

:30:56. > :30:58.himself, with very few swing plane changes. A very simple action, but

:30:59. > :31:09.so effective. It was discussed a few years back,

:31:10. > :31:15.it was a fad. He was asked how many guys swing on one plane, he said he

:31:16. > :31:19.was the only one. He's the artist and engineer and I fancy his future.

:31:20. > :31:23.If there hadn't been for that seven at the 18th last night he would be

:31:24. > :31:27.in a better position setting off. Let's take you act out onto the

:31:28. > :31:31.course because this is Jordan Spieth's second to the first. This

:31:32. > :31:36.hole is on the backlift portion of the green, it is one that you cannot

:31:37. > :31:40.be left and make par and you don't want to belong either. That is a

:31:41. > :31:46.wise shot. He made a rare birdie yesterday, it was playing one of the

:31:47. > :31:50.hardest holes on the course. This is Rory's answer. Once again, left is

:31:51. > :31:58.dead here. He's held something off against the wind. They are not going

:31:59. > :32:01.to flirt with the left side. Up ahead at the 2nd, which played the

:32:02. > :32:06.easiest of all of the holes yesterday, yielded quite a few

:32:07. > :32:10.birdies and eagles. This is Hideki Matsuyama trying to become Japan's

:32:11. > :32:15.first male winner. This is for eagle. He is a terrific ball

:32:16. > :32:18.striker, putts well, has a couple of wins under his belt here recently.

:32:19. > :32:22.Wouldn't it be something if a Japanese player won the Masters

:32:23. > :32:27.one-day? It would be wonderful for the game of golf if you are a bit of

:32:28. > :32:31.a romantic which I occasionally am, Japan has put Summit into the game

:32:32. > :32:35.of golf, technology, clubs, golf balls and things like that. This is

:32:36. > :32:40.Jordan for birdie at the 1st. I should tell you Matt Siame made that

:32:41. > :32:46.tap in for a Burdisso he went 2-under, two behind Spieth. This is

:32:47. > :32:52.the overnight leader, and that one falls short. -- Matsuyama. He looks

:32:53. > :32:57.a bit different than he did last year, he looks a little bit further

:32:58. > :33:00.away, his arms are just a little bit higher, don't know if that is a

:33:01. > :33:03.conscious effort, he said he has been struggling with his putter.

:33:04. > :33:08.Last week he said he had to find something magical this week. He has

:33:09. > :33:12.five fewer putts than Rory and he is ahead of him. The third from the

:33:13. > :33:20.sand at the long par-5 2nd and that looks like a gimme for him, he's

:33:21. > :33:24.been very close, he led going into 2013's last day only to be overtaken

:33:25. > :33:28.in the end by Adam Scott and an hell Cabrera who fought out the play-off.

:33:29. > :33:33.He's played well over the last few months and has already won at pebble

:33:34. > :33:39.breach. Some pretty high winds that day as well. Snedeker also in the

:33:40. > :33:44.thick of things. He has moved to two under and he too is just two shots

:33:45. > :33:47.off the pace. He would have been a good guide to pick for the previous

:33:48. > :33:51.question about who you would like in the back of the pack because

:33:52. > :33:58.Snedeker camera and the tables. Back to the first, this is McIlroy with a

:33:59. > :34:03.birdie chance. And as he lines up the putt, we can hand to our

:34:04. > :34:07.commentary team. Something to watch for with Rory too is how he does on

:34:08. > :34:12.the greens with respect to speed. You get an indication when a player

:34:13. > :34:15.continues to come up short, he's misjudged it badly, when they come

:34:16. > :34:22.up short a lot he is a bit nervous, this is the first time he's come up

:34:23. > :34:26.left-hand lower cross handed and come up short. He's got to win the

:34:27. > :34:31.mental battles on the greens and trust what he's doing. This is new

:34:32. > :34:37.to him. Two very big putts. I will let you skedaddle back to the

:34:38. > :34:41.commentary position. Thank you very much, we are now officially underway

:34:42. > :34:46.with our host broadcaster's coverage. I will hand you to Andrew

:34:47. > :34:49.Cotter and Ken Brown. Enjoy, everyone. COMMENTATOR: Good

:34:50. > :34:55.afternoon, good evening everybody in the UK. This is a big putt, McIlroy

:34:56. > :35:03.to putt first, so much talk about putting styles. This is a big one

:35:04. > :35:07.for McIlroy. Very nicely done, he left himself a virtually straight

:35:08. > :35:15.uphill shot, par at the 1st is a good score because it is just a

:35:16. > :35:23.couple of birdies, and a couple of bogeys too. Nice one to start his

:35:24. > :35:27.round. 25 putts in the first round, Jordan Spieth. He has not had a

:35:28. > :35:38.great season by his high standards. We are talking about second syndrome

:35:39. > :35:43.season. This is just too far. When he gets to the close ones he will

:35:44. > :35:55.look at the hole as he plays the shot. Let's have a look at him.

:35:56. > :36:07.APPLAUSE Two fours for the final pairing.

:36:08. > :36:14.Par-5 to come. It is bright and sunny but there is a real spring in

:36:15. > :36:18.the air, blustery Brees. STUDIO: That is how it looks, with the 1st

:36:19. > :36:23.hole safely negotiated for Jurgen Spieth, the leader, and Rory

:36:24. > :36:28.McIlroy. Hideki Matsuyama it has made ground and so has Brandt

:36:29. > :36:32.Snedeker, in the trio at 2-under par. Bernhard Langer, great to see

:36:33. > :36:37.him still going well, 1-under, Smylie Kaufman still on the first

:36:38. > :36:41.page, Dustin Johnson level through five, Jason Day, world number one,

:36:42. > :36:46.level par today, 1-over for the tournament. Daniel Berger, who was

:36:47. > :36:51.the PGA Rookie of the Year last year, shot one of the four rounds

:36:52. > :36:59.under par yesterday, 71. Also reasonable progress for him, 1-over

:37:00. > :37:03.today. COMMENTATOR: See the record, six

:37:04. > :37:07.consecutive rounds with the outright lead, Arnold Palmer had that, one of

:37:08. > :37:13.his rounds was the share of the lead, back in the early 60s. 3-wood

:37:14. > :37:25.to try and get it moving right to left down the par-5 2nd, it swoops

:37:26. > :37:31.downhill to the left. Sit. Sit. It doesn't sit very often when it

:37:32. > :37:36.swings down there. It will just be all right, blocked out from the

:37:37. > :37:42.trees. There is a bunker down the right side, 300 yards to reach it,

:37:43. > :37:48.A320s5 to carry it. Rory might be able to do that. The wind is off the

:37:49. > :38:06.right, slightly helping, so he will go for one of his bazookas. -- 325

:38:07. > :38:09.to carry it. By a matter of yards. He birdied it in the first and

:38:10. > :38:22.second rounds but he will struggle to do so here. First look at Ian

:38:23. > :38:26.Poulter. Plus ten. Third shot to the 15th, pin at the front of the green,

:38:27. > :38:37.don't want to put too much spin on it. That is definitely in the water.

:38:38. > :38:43.Very tough, demanding day. Paul Casey, sizeable 4-iron of Casey to

:38:44. > :38:49.the 11. The pin on the right. If you get a cruel bounce like that it

:38:50. > :38:51.might be in the water. Stay there. It might hang on, Spieth's did in

:38:52. > :39:07.the first round. Quick, Paul! Lee Westwood going along quite

:39:08. > :39:14.nicely at just 5-over par. Down the hill. He's got the same problem, but

:39:15. > :39:20.hasn't got quite so much speed on it, should be all right, the greens

:39:21. > :39:24.are so fast this morning. STUDIO: They are. Perhaps we can get a

:39:25. > :39:29.measure of how quick they are, Louis Oosthuizen has come in with the

:39:30. > :39:33.first under par round of the day, 71. He has battled through the winds

:39:34. > :39:40.and slick greens. Let's get his reaction down in the interview area.

:39:41. > :39:48.Louis, how good a round was 71 today? Yes, it was tough. I felt

:39:49. > :39:55.like I've probably squeeze everything out of the course. You

:39:56. > :39:59.know, it has firmed up and I was starting on the back nine and it was

:40:00. > :40:09.chilly this morning when week T-Dot. We were going with 4-irons into the

:40:10. > :40:13.first. It seems the 7th hole is causing problems. -- when we teed

:40:14. > :40:19.off. Was that significantly difficult today? I have not seen

:40:20. > :40:25.that pin there. You're going with a lob wedge or a sand wedge and you

:40:26. > :40:31.are thinking there is a lot more wind. Me and Patrick did the wrong

:40:32. > :40:37.thing leaving it short in the bunker. The best we could do was 40

:40:38. > :40:42.feet away and made five and six. That is tough, it feels like you can

:40:43. > :40:46.take it on but if I have to play it again I will make sure I am long

:40:47. > :40:49.left. Looking at what is happening, the wind is blowing everywhere, are

:40:50. > :40:56.there any spots on the course where there is a little respite? No, it is

:40:57. > :41:01.tough. The golf course is playing really tough, the last three days.

:41:02. > :41:08.Today the wind is a little bit more north-west. Yesterday it was more

:41:09. > :41:16.West. So a few different ones. 18 is 4-iron, 5-iron today, it is a proper

:41:17. > :41:19.golf course. You need your ball striking to be pretty good today to

:41:20. > :41:27.manoeuvre it in the wind. Thank you for your time and good luck

:41:28. > :41:30.tomorrow. Thank you. COMMENTATOR: McIlroy on the second, reasonably

:41:31. > :41:44.far back, bit of an upslope, how far can he get? A bit of wind here.

:41:45. > :41:52.Laying up just short and left of that, there he is. The only one of

:41:53. > :41:55.the par fives where the wind helps today. That's why the wind direction

:41:56. > :41:59.is said to be most difficult because three of the par fives you are into

:42:00. > :42:05.it, par fives usually give you something on this course but they

:42:06. > :42:09.are more difficult. Snedeker up near the second green, good angle for the

:42:10. > :42:14.bunker shot, up the slope and he has played it well, very well. It might

:42:15. > :42:21.even start to run back, to give you an idea, they can sometimes trickle

:42:22. > :42:31.back. Delightfully played. Scott Piercy, the man from Las Vegas, just

:42:32. > :42:36.feathering it down there. It can lag from four feet at Augusta. Slightly

:42:37. > :42:42.longer than that but he will tap it in, I'm sure. The ball is well above

:42:43. > :42:55.his feet and the green around the time those left behind trees -- pine

:42:56. > :42:59.trees. The gap between the green and the bunker is about 80 yards. That

:43:00. > :43:02.is a marvellous shot, really terrific, the gap between the

:43:03. > :43:06.bunkers is about eight or nine yards and that is a delightful shot.

:43:07. > :43:13.Perfect spot to leave the putt, going straight uphill. -- eight

:43:14. > :43:23.yards. It is Jason Day who is far from out of this. Is this the 7th

:43:24. > :43:30.hole? In it goes for Jason Day. That was just for a par, but pars are

:43:31. > :43:35.golden today, almost like US Open style scoring today. Jason Day has

:43:36. > :43:39.had problems but not too far away, Jordan Spieth five shots better than

:43:40. > :43:43.the Australian at the moment. It will be worth keeping and I on the

:43:44. > :43:50.seventh pin, it is an absolute honey, so difficult -- keep an eye

:43:51. > :43:55.on the seventh. Rory's third, zipping this one away, must not go

:43:56. > :44:02.past the flag, most stop at the flag. Nice, very nice. Only four

:44:03. > :44:04.yards beyond the flag. It's like greased lightning. High-quality. One

:44:05. > :44:19.behind at the moment. Jamie Donaldson eagled the second,

:44:20. > :44:26.he holed a huge putt they're playing alongside Justin Rose. Wonderfully

:44:27. > :44:28.done by Donaldson. It's going to be a birdie. It will take him back to

:44:29. > :44:45.3-over, so just inside the top 20. Paul Casey will not be grounding his

:44:46. > :44:49.club to hide because it could easily roll back into the water, the 11th,

:44:50. > :44:55.his third shot to this tricky par for. From this angle he is actually

:44:56. > :45:07.putting up the hill. It is a pretty slow putt. -- pas par four. It

:45:08. > :45:13.popped off the putter face and it was a big quicker than he

:45:14. > :45:19.anticipated. Poulter has been in the water here at the 15th, so this is

:45:20. > :45:29.to drop just one on the par-5. Something. Two bogeys and a double

:45:30. > :45:33.bogey on the 14th for Ian Poulter. Quick, quick greens out there today,

:45:34. > :45:36.even quicker perhaps than they usually are. Ken has been out having

:45:37. > :45:40.a look. I've been to Augusta a few times and

:45:41. > :45:44.I don't think I've ever seen the greens looking so smooth and this

:45:45. > :45:47.morning they are unbelievably quick, with the wind it will be very

:45:48. > :45:52.tricky, the quality of the grass is amazing. It is like a parquet

:45:53. > :45:56.flooring with a green covering. It is superb. But they are so quick

:45:57. > :46:00.this morning and with wind this about I don't know that the ball

:46:01. > :46:05.might not blow about on the greens are bit if it gets any stronger. Let

:46:06. > :46:10.me give you an idea, this is 40 foot, more like 50 foot, how far I

:46:11. > :46:16.swing the putter to get the ball to trundle down the green. I will hit a

:46:17. > :46:20.couple. It is electrifying Lee fast. Little nudge like that, another

:46:21. > :46:23.little nudge like that and watch them going, you might think the ball

:46:24. > :46:28.would have stopped by now but they keep trickling, trickling,

:46:29. > :46:32.trickling, incredible, I almost putted it into the water, these

:46:33. > :46:36.greens are spooky, scary fast this morning and they will dry as the day

:46:37. > :46:40.goes by so the late starters, one or two of them, could be so difficult,

:46:41. > :46:43.they are fiendishly fast and so slippery.

:46:44. > :46:52.You looked troubled. Rose for an eagle on the 13th. That was this

:46:53. > :46:55.morning, they are drying out with the wind command by the end of play

:46:56. > :47:06.they will be very, very difficult indeed. -- with the wind, and by the

:47:07. > :47:09.end of the day they will be very difficult indeed. Justin Rose up the

:47:10. > :47:14.slope. Just a little ledge on the back corner of the green. Started

:47:15. > :47:22.with such promise but struggling a little bit. Now, Westwood, all the

:47:23. > :47:30.way across the length. One of the slower putts on the course uphill,

:47:31. > :47:40.and still didn't have to hit it too hard, lovely judge of pace.

:47:41. > :47:52.Using this pencil grip this week with his right hand, unusual grip,

:47:53. > :47:57.Garcia, and he gets one back. 5-over. It's not a good sign coming

:47:58. > :48:00.into the Masters and changing your butter and grip. With his coach

:48:01. > :48:12.David that is a big decision in the week. Good brisk swing of the

:48:13. > :48:18.putter, but the slope, this is for an eagle. He was dead I kick on the

:48:19. > :48:35.first day. Not as accurate yesterday on the greens. He has left himself

:48:36. > :48:39.not a terribly fanciable one. That is 4-under half, five feet on the

:48:40. > :48:45.wrong side of the cup I'd rather have Rory's putt rather than

:48:46. > :48:48.Spieth's now. Colourful galleries. Colourful galleries, great players,

:48:49. > :48:54.although Rory has gone slightly more figure hugging. You saw the way that

:48:55. > :49:00.Spieth's putt moved at the end, tailing off all the time once it

:49:01. > :49:06.went past the hole. This is slightly more appetising. It is not one to be

:49:07. > :49:11.brave at. Still pretty quick, there was a break to the left. I watched

:49:12. > :49:16.him on the putting green and he was going round the clock, putting five

:49:17. > :49:20.or six balls around the cup and starting from a yard and moving

:49:21. > :49:27.further away. It needs a delicate touch to send a message to his

:49:28. > :49:32.playing partner. GROANS FROM CROWD

:49:33. > :49:37.I don't think that was a bad putt. He quite liked what he had done with

:49:38. > :49:44.it. But look how far it has crept on. At this stage you think he has

:49:45. > :49:54.got it but somehow or another, oh dear, the wall of death. Back there

:49:55. > :49:57.in a moment, we will go to Matt Fitzpatrick, nobody coming into the

:49:58. > :50:03.third round had hit more greens in regulation but he was bottom of the

:50:04. > :50:07.putting stats. Third shot of the par-5, we will see lots of pitches

:50:08. > :50:09.up to this green. Yet of lead, difficult to reach in two into the

:50:10. > :50:28.wind. Day one, he holed these Farfan and

:50:29. > :50:32.yesterday he was struggling. This is another snorter with two or three

:50:33. > :50:39.inches of break, he needs to hit it firmly. For his birdie. Beautifully

:50:40. > :50:44.done, right in the middle. Spieth, for now, leading by two. McIlroy

:50:45. > :51:00.with a bit to do for his par. Far too early to develop into a

:51:01. > :51:08.Match Play situation, a long way to go in this tournament, but a great

:51:09. > :51:16.tussle between these two. Changing his parting grip, left below right.

:51:17. > :51:21.The final pairing both start four, five, par, par. Westwood at the 12

:51:22. > :51:30.hole today, 146 yards, straight over the middle bunker.

:51:31. > :51:35.Go right, be the one. The hopeful cry of the golfer, it was the one.

:51:36. > :51:38.You don't get much rapturous applause at the 12 because the

:51:39. > :51:42.spectators are so far away from the green. I bet we don't see a better

:51:43. > :51:48.one than that today. It was a fantastic shot with the wind

:51:49. > :51:52.swirling around. As you were saying, when you look at the 11 flag, it is

:51:53. > :52:08.invariably blowing in the opposite direction to the flag at the 12th

:52:09. > :52:11.green. 12 playing 146 yards. The pin is four yards over the front bunker

:52:12. > :52:23.and there is five odd yards behind it.

:52:24. > :52:28.We will leave them to their chat for a moment and head to the tee shot at

:52:29. > :52:54.the 3rd of the leader. Oh my, that is Miles right. He needs

:52:55. > :52:59.a bit of luck here. Playing directly into the breeze, this short par

:53:00. > :53:03.four. 350 yards, and he's got ahead of one. Casey and Tom McLaren have

:53:04. > :53:31.come to a decision. Everything down the left, hitting a

:53:32. > :53:44.fade, left to right shot, holding onto the shoulder of the fairway.

:53:45. > :53:52.That is an awkward distance from that bunker. The pin is on the front

:53:53. > :53:55.right corner, there is hardly any green to play with behind the pin.

:53:56. > :54:00.To get close to the flag you almost have to go beyond it and spin back.

:54:01. > :54:07.This is where Snedeker is playing from up to this pin.

:54:08. > :54:13.You have almost got to go off the green at the back when coming from

:54:14. > :54:21.where McIlroy is and hope it skips back out of the first cut of rough.

:54:22. > :54:30.The chance to see where the flag is cut on the 14th. Rows with his

:54:31. > :54:38.second. -- Rose. This should be perfect. This should be absolutely

:54:39. > :54:46.lovely. It is about two yards by two yards and he's got it on it. Ian

:54:47. > :54:55.Poulter has reached the 16th. 156 today. You can just see the flag

:54:56. > :55:01.right on the right-hand side. It is not very far, but if you don't

:55:02. > :55:08.get... He is not enjoying this one that all. That is a horrible shot he

:55:09. > :55:16.has left himself. He won't be enjoying that one either, that is a

:55:17. > :55:28.horror he has left himself there. The lovely third shot that

:55:29. > :55:41.Fitzpatrick hit in here. He improved on his debut last year. He missed

:55:42. > :55:47.the cut. Rolls it forward into the heart of the cup. Three bogeys on

:55:48. > :55:54.his card and a couple of birdies, four over. He is right in there

:55:55. > :56:02.still. From one Sheffield man to another, Danny Willett.

:56:03. > :56:14.GROANS FROM CROWD He started with a dropped shot on

:56:15. > :56:23.the first and bogeyed the fourth as well. He will tap that in four a

:56:24. > :56:24.par, back to 2-over for the tournament, still good enough to be

:56:25. > :56:39.tied in 15th for the moment. Rose for his birdie at the 14th,

:56:40. > :56:47.just outside the right age. Yes, perfect pace, wriggling in the side

:56:48. > :56:52.door, so back-to-back birdies for Justin.

:56:53. > :57:06.-- the right age. Bernhard Langer, 58, and not too far-away. This is

:57:07. > :57:12.for birdie on the eighth. That is astonishing, 1-under par, tied in

:57:13. > :57:20.fifth place, just four behind Jordan Spieth, 85, 93.

:57:21. > :57:24.He is a winning machine, he won his 26th Champions Tour victory earlier

:57:25. > :57:27.in the season, and despite the fact he's obviously had to reinvent his

:57:28. > :57:34.putting stroke once again with the anchoring and he's up there at 58 in

:57:35. > :57:37.a tie for fifth place four shots off the lead. He challenged here a

:57:38. > :57:43.couple of years ago, great to see the old fellow here doing well.

:57:44. > :57:52.It is quite something. Jason Day to get back to level par. The world

:57:53. > :57:58.number one was going so well on the first, got to 5-under par, and then

:57:59. > :58:11.stubble is on the back nine. Has he been fortunate? Let's listen in.

:58:12. > :58:21.He has a gap and he is swishing like he's going to have a swish at it but

:58:22. > :58:25.it looks awkward. Wouldn't be too bad if he could shunt it up there

:58:26. > :58:31.somewhere. The pin one fall, love at the front of the green, if the lawns

:58:32. > :58:44.it it is a fantastic shot, look where the flag is. He's missed the

:58:45. > :58:45.green in regulation. Let's see what his lie is like, not a bad lie

:58:46. > :59:03.either. It's going to keep running, but an

:59:04. > :59:08.excellent effort. There is a lot of arming and eyeing but coming back up

:59:09. > :59:17.the slope, that's a pretty good miss if you are going to miss the green.

:59:18. > :59:24.Let's see how McIlroy copes with this one, taking the spin of it.

:59:25. > :59:35.Don't want to have too much spin on that coming all the way back.

:59:36. > :59:44.That had so much on it. He would have to land that ten yards over the

:59:45. > :59:51.green for that to work. What a difficult shot he has left himself

:59:52. > :59:59.now. I think he can only play the ballooned lob shot. Snedeker,

:00:00. > :00:06.quickfire putter. He will slip back to 1-under.

:00:07. > :00:15.Not anchoring, it's a very unusual parting style he's using, he's still

:00:16. > :00:19.using the long putter but not anchoring. That is still allowed.

:00:20. > :00:28.That was worth having another look at. It's his 33rd consecutive

:00:29. > :00:37.Masters. Bryson, this is for par. Nicely done. You can see a bit of a

:00:38. > :00:39.glaze on the greens, quick, quick. A couple of dropped shots on the first

:00:40. > :00:58.three holes, but 1-over par. This one playing at 241 yards,

:00:59. > :01:08.virtually straight into the breeze. Oh, it has gone down the bluff. If

:01:09. > :01:23.he had used anything like a 4-wood and got it in the air... Looking to

:01:24. > :01:36.bump this in... It will start to roll away... It is just so, so

:01:37. > :01:43.difficult. KEN BROWN: I would like to introduce

:01:44. > :01:44.two other members of the common treating, Paul Azinger, and of

:01:45. > :01:52.course, Peter Ellis! PETER ALLISS: Thank you, Ken. Just a

:01:53. > :01:55.chance to see Matthew Fitzpatrick promises to be one of the great

:01:56. > :02:11.stars of the next ten-15 years. PAUL AZINGER: Jordan Spieth, I think

:02:12. > :02:22.he did a good job of avoiding putting it down where Rory ended up.

:02:23. > :02:27.This is actually a lot better than where Rory was. You have still got

:02:28. > :02:31.to get the speed right. He must feel good or he would not be using this

:02:32. > :02:43.club. He has got his nerves in check. A lot of guys might putt this

:02:44. > :02:45.one. He has got a bit of a lofted club as well. Will probably tried to

:02:46. > :02:59.fly it halfway there. Oh, that had a lot of chatter on it!

:03:00. > :03:11.Still not a gimme, but super shot for Jordan Spieth.

:03:12. > :03:27.PETER ALLISS: Matsuyama at 5th for a birdie. It really is a frightening

:03:28. > :03:33.day for putting on these greens, with the wind, and the speed they

:03:34. > :03:41.are. Lee Westwood, going for it in two. He has got to get it over the

:03:42. > :03:48.creek. Will it get up the hill? Not quite. Super shot. Such a dangerous

:03:49. > :03:59.shot at 13. It will just trickle off a bit. He will be happy with it,

:04:00. > :04:02.though. Eagle chance for Westwood. Behind to the 3rd, McIlory, after a

:04:03. > :04:12.well struck tee-shot, which just found the bunker, now he has got 6-7

:04:13. > :04:20.yards for par. Easy to 3-putt from here if you get a bit too bold. Big

:04:21. > :04:28.swing, very fast. This is one of the fastest putts on the whole golf

:04:29. > :04:37.course, Peter, with loads of swing left to right.

:04:38. > :04:56.Oh, just too short. Brilliant putt, really. It is another shot dropped

:04:57. > :05:23.to Spieth, if Spieth can pop is in. Scott Piercy, now he has got to

:05:24. > :05:25.pitch back up the hill. He has got to be careful - this will come right

:05:26. > :05:45.back to him. Oh, it stayed! Spieth now for a par to increase his

:05:46. > :06:00.lead. He is a bit fidgety at the moment, a bit more than usual. But

:06:01. > :06:24.if it goes in, all is OK. And it is. So he starts with three fours.

:06:25. > :06:31.4-5-5. -- McIlroy, 4-5-5. Well, what about that? You mark your ball, you

:06:32. > :06:36.walk up to it, you do not get within 4ft, a touch of wind comes and blows

:06:37. > :06:41.it in the water! Well, I do not know about that. He did not cause the

:06:42. > :06:48.birds to move. We will see what happens in a minute. Jason Day...

:06:49. > :06:53.Jason had a monster tee-shot to get it all the way down the hill. Now,

:06:54. > :07:00.just a little sand wedge. We may see a few birdies here at the 9th today.

:07:01. > :07:11.One of the few wedge opportunities the players will get. Scott Piercy

:07:12. > :07:28.for par. Looks good... Oh! Dropped shot. Frustrating, disappointing.

:07:29. > :07:35.I must say, this is where the rules of golf become very confusing. He

:07:36. > :07:38.put it on the green, the wind blew it in the water, and now he has been

:07:39. > :07:43.penalised for that. I do not understand that. That's why the game

:07:44. > :07:54.for me gets a bit crazy. He did nothing to cause the ball to move. I

:07:55. > :08:02.don't know, the game has gone crook. Westwood for eagle here at the 13th.

:08:03. > :08:12.Not given it quite enough. But that should be a pretty routine birdie.

:08:13. > :08:20.The 16th, Fitzpatrick, just off the green, but on the flat bit. Oh, that

:08:21. > :08:36.was a bit of a scuff. He just caught the ground behind the ball a bit.

:08:37. > :08:42.PAUL AZINGER: Jordan Spieth has saddled on a long-iron here. It will

:08:43. > :08:51.have to be quite something to carry the bunker. You can see the flag

:08:52. > :09:00.between the two traps. 241 yards, right into the teeth of the breeze.

:09:01. > :09:12.And another one handle. That could be in serious trouble. Oh, we saw

:09:13. > :09:20.Mickelson do that a year or two ago! That is a stroke of massive good

:09:21. > :09:27.fortune. That is two in a row, Peter, where he has let go of the

:09:28. > :09:33.club on full swing. Not sure if Joe is just getting under it a bit more

:09:34. > :09:38.than normal, but... He has got to figure something out quick. Now,

:09:39. > :09:50.McIlroy needs to hit this green, get it within 7-8 yards, if he can. He

:09:51. > :09:51.is going left as well. Good God! That is the way to play the hole,

:09:52. > :10:14.obviously! It has been a scruffy game so far.

:10:15. > :10:19.Jason Day hit a massive tee-shot on the 9th and a beautiful wedge to

:10:20. > :10:30.hear. Straight down the hill! And all of a sudden, Jason Day is making

:10:31. > :10:37.a little move up the leaderboard. This was lying at the 9th for a par,

:10:38. > :10:39.coming up the hill. Just a little bit of swing on it. He did not quite

:10:40. > :11:11.do it. Expected it to go. This will be Westwood's second putt

:11:12. > :11:15.at 13 for birdie. Yes. Jamie Donaldson. Five over, pitching up to

:11:16. > :11:28.the 15th. Study, study... I will be interested

:11:29. > :11:32.to see what happened with Mr Horschel. I think you should be

:11:33. > :11:40.writing to the New York Times, appealing, if they have penalised

:11:41. > :11:47.him. -- he should be. Shane Lowry at the 7th. Got to be careful with this

:11:48. > :11:50.one. This is the highest green, most exposed hole location. He barely

:11:51. > :11:57.touched it and it has still gone 3ft by.

:11:58. > :12:05.HAZEL IRVINE: Here is the situation early in this third round. The

:12:06. > :12:09.leaders are now playing the 4th. Jordan Spieth now has that

:12:10. > :12:15.three-shot advantage over Rory McIlory. Bernhard Langer just

:12:16. > :12:28.dropped a shot, one under for his round and now five behind. Jason Day

:12:29. > :12:38.has got back to level par for the day.

:12:39. > :12:53.Danny Willett, one overthrew six today. -- one over through six

:12:54. > :13:01.today. New dad Danny Willett giving a very good account of himself this

:13:02. > :13:14.week in his second Masters. Louis Oosthuizen, 71 for the 2010 Open

:13:15. > :13:15.champion. Justin Rose, two over having played 14. . Him at the

:13:16. > :14:05.15th... Jordan Spieth pitching up at the

:14:06. > :14:12.4th. Well, we had two very misdirected tee shots. Snedeker, we

:14:13. > :14:18.have seen him missing a couple in a row now. Now, Rory has just got to

:14:19. > :14:25.click this. Not an overly difficult shot. -- clip.

:14:26. > :14:52.They say the conditions are going to get easier towards the end of the

:14:53. > :14:53.day. They do not appear to be getting any easier at the moment.

:14:54. > :15:17.The greens are lightning fast. PAUL AZINGER: Jamie Donaldson. Only

:15:18. > :15:27.has to breathe on, it will reach the hole. Now, look at it go... Four

:15:28. > :15:30.yards short of that pin, will not stay on the green. Easily the most

:15:31. > :15:37.dangerous hole location on the course, here at 15. Something to

:15:38. > :15:49.watch for as the day goes on. See how the leaders play the 15th.

:15:50. > :15:57.Big putt here for Jordan Spieth, I feel, Peter. Well, he has holed a

:15:58. > :16:00.couple of nice once already. The way he has been jumping about, he has

:16:01. > :16:07.given the impression of being a bit nervous. But he has got the job

:16:08. > :16:15.done. If he can hole this, it would be rather unsettling for McIlory. On

:16:16. > :16:25.every green so far, he has holed something.

:16:26. > :16:34.And he has done it again. It is magical stuff.

:16:35. > :16:48.McIlory faced with a putt from 4ft. He has already dropped two behind so

:16:49. > :16:55.far. Look at the shine on the greens now. You can tell the moisture has

:16:56. > :17:01.been pulled right out of the greens. Is the day goes on, they will get

:17:02. > :17:16.quicker and drier. McIlory... In she goes. Two adventurous threes, but

:17:17. > :17:25.threes they were. And on they go. Justin Rose, back up the hill at 15

:17:26. > :17:42.for a to Pat and for a par. Made it look easy.

:17:43. > :17:51.Lee Westwood in the light rough, second shot. Just had a couple of

:17:52. > :18:03.birdies at 12 and 13 of that could be good, if it stops... It has.

:18:04. > :18:20.Steady... Almost like playing an Arnold Palmer

:18:21. > :18:33.pitch and putt course this, past the castle and end up near the hole! As

:18:34. > :18:37.a player, you have got to win the mental battles. He double-bogeyed

:18:38. > :18:43.this hole yesterday's after a poor tee-shot. Actually, he four parted

:18:44. > :18:48.here yet the day, now that I think about it. The wind is hard off the

:18:49. > :18:54.right side. Most right-handers love this wind. He is taking a 3-wood.

:18:55. > :19:01.These bunkers were put in maybe ten years ago. Now, you have to be more

:19:02. > :19:12.precise here at the 5th - one of the hardest holes on the golf course.

:19:13. > :19:16.That is perfect. Through the trees, you can see the cars, the road that

:19:17. > :19:23.goes by. The club have bought all of that property up there over the last

:19:24. > :19:25.two or three years. Now, McIlory. Also with a 3-wood, it looks.

:19:26. > :19:42.Certainly not a driver. That needs to come left a bit. And

:19:43. > :19:59.it has. Beauty. Pitched 20-30 yards past Spieth.

:20:00. > :20:05.The marvellous swing of Jason Day after a monster tee-shot. I don't

:20:06. > :20:17.know that I have ever seen a ball that far! Look where he hit that

:20:18. > :20:21.from! Downwind and a little right to left, with the help of the hill, but

:20:22. > :20:34.goodness gracious, that is miles down there. Bernhard Langer, level

:20:35. > :20:45.par. Wonderful achievement. And that should stay... Yes.

:20:46. > :20:53.PAUL AZINGER: Danny Willett now at the 7th. We saw one from closer to

:20:54. > :20:57.this going 50ft past the hole earlier today. Beautiful putt by

:20:58. > :21:20.Danny Willett! What a bonus, birdies at six and

:21:21. > :21:24.seven. The people up on the right there, such a colourful scene. Blue

:21:25. > :21:55.sky, frisky wind. And Justin Rose... Westwood for birdie at 14 after he

:21:56. > :22:03.hit that shot that went up and around and down and... Another

:22:04. > :22:14.birdie for Lee Westwood. Solid round, three in a row!

:22:15. > :22:17.PETER ALLISS: Jamie Donaldson playing with Justin Rose. He is

:22:18. > :22:30.waiting for something. They are just deciding.

:22:31. > :22:36.They are still looking for inspiration. Or that is what it says

:22:37. > :22:51.on his sweater. Can he do it? The flag is almost in a direct line

:22:52. > :23:00.with the middle of that back bunker on the right. The swirly wind and

:23:01. > :23:02.the elevations here make it very tricky indeed. It is hard to be

:23:03. > :23:16.positive. He likes it, does he...? And it is

:23:17. > :23:40.gone... This would make a little noise, if

:23:41. > :23:48.Jason Day can hole this putt. Oh, no, he has not hit it. Opportunity

:23:49. > :23:55.lost there. Two wonderful shots to get to that point. Very much alive,

:23:56. > :24:03.though, Jason Day. Back in the picture now. To the 5th, and Jordan

:24:04. > :24:23.Spieth. Well, it might have been in a worse

:24:24. > :24:45.place than that. Now, McIlory. Same thing. Both of them with quite

:24:46. > :24:49.serious misjudgements there - at least half a club, maybe a full club

:24:50. > :25:09.out. Not threatening the hole. Langer just a moment ago, up the

:25:10. > :25:17.hill for birdie here at ten. Out-driven by 60 yards here by Jason

:25:18. > :25:23.Day! But they made the same score. The ageless Bernhard Langer. It is

:25:24. > :25:31.really impressive that he can continue on. He made a comment the

:25:32. > :25:38.other day, he has won 99 tournaments but he acts and prepares as if he

:25:39. > :25:43.has never won one. And he does not hit the ball very high! DeChambeau,

:25:44. > :25:57.boldly and the flag. And look at that! Sometimes it does the right

:25:58. > :26:03.thing and sometimes it doesn't. Kjeldsen, down the hill at six, 180

:26:04. > :26:14.eight yards. Pin all the way back left. You took a judge to! --

:26:15. > :26:17.beautifully judged! Donaldson with this long putt forced you hardly

:26:18. > :26:25.ever see anyone going past the hole here.

:26:26. > :26:41.Kjeldsen to finish it off - and he has done it. He gets to level par.

:26:42. > :26:48.Justin Rose, putting from just off the green here at the 16th. It will

:26:49. > :26:50.move downhill from right to left. Oh, what a bonus. What a bonus that

:26:51. > :27:10.was! One birdie, umpteen other bits and

:27:11. > :27:15.pieces. Same coming home, really. DeChambeau... He has missed a few of

:27:16. > :27:30.those, this week. Here you get some idea of the slope

:27:31. > :27:37.on the green at the 5th. Fitzpatrick has had to clear away the trippers.

:27:38. > :27:43.Folding chairs. Bumps it down the hill and it staggered onto the

:27:44. > :27:49.green. It did better than I thought. Very tricky shot. Bit harder and it

:27:50. > :28:05.could have ended up all the way down the bottom.

:28:06. > :28:15.They would have hit this putt many times in practice. I think Rory is

:28:16. > :28:23.asking Jordan to move his coin. This one will gather pace as it heads

:28:24. > :28:30.towards the left side of the green. Well, 21 players have finished so

:28:31. > :28:33.far, and only one player, Oosthuizen, has broken par, going

:28:34. > :28:37.round in 71. That gives you some idea of the difficult conditions

:28:38. > :28:42.here. 71 is going to be a wonderful score. Anyone breaking 70, that will

:28:43. > :28:48.be a huge bonus. It is very unlikely to happen, unless the wind dies

:28:49. > :28:54.away. Play will go on until roundabout midnight your time, in

:28:55. > :28:59.the UK. May be a bit after. That will be seven o'clock here, local

:29:00. > :29:05.time. I wonder if Rory will go left hand low here on the longer putt. It

:29:06. > :29:10.is quite a bit harder to judge if it is something that is new to you. And

:29:11. > :29:21.this style is new to Rory. Can he judge the speed on the long ones...?

:29:22. > :29:34.And he has done a beautiful job! Did he make it...? Oh, great effort!

:29:35. > :29:37.That is a gift. You know you have practised from there, you prepare as

:29:38. > :29:42.much as you can for that hole location, you know it will be there.

:29:43. > :29:48.What a gift. Physical geniuses, all of these guys.

:29:49. > :30:10.Matsuyama now at seven, and this is a very dangerous putt. Look at how

:30:11. > :30:40.fast this is... KEN BROWN: A very similar putt for

:30:41. > :30:45.Jordan Spieth as Rory has just had. Look where he is aiming. Even

:30:46. > :31:04.further right than Rory did. One thing I have noticed so far,

:31:05. > :31:20.especially yesterday, Jordan has managed to hole almost all of those.

:31:21. > :31:21.These ones are the little knee-knockers that Augusta National

:31:22. > :31:32.is famous for. It is that in between range, maybe

:31:33. > :31:40.it's too far-away, you have to have such nerve. I never thought I'd see

:31:41. > :31:44.the day when the number one in the world, now the number two, couldn't

:31:45. > :31:56.hit the -- look at the ball when he hits. He is going to look at the

:31:57. > :32:00.hole. He does. Yes. It's all been a little bit scrappy for Spieth but

:32:01. > :32:06.his card says he is 1-under par, and that's outstanding. Mega- talent,

:32:07. > :32:10.Dustin Johnson, after a massive tee shot at nine. Pretty easy hole

:32:11. > :32:42.location from there. Good shot. 18th. Well done, Matthew Fitzpatrick

:32:43. > :32:49.just sneaks it in the side door. 37 out, steady Eddie, 37 back, 74, not

:32:50. > :32:55.bad, average score today 76 so far. A good round tomorrow and he could

:32:56. > :32:59.have his hand in the cookie jar. The ageless wonder, Bernhard Langer.

:33:00. > :33:11.Look at the sweet spot on his club, the perfect circle on the clubface.

:33:12. > :33:16.Treacherous hole location, that is a bailout. Let's look at Amen Corner

:33:17. > :33:22.with Ken Brown. You never know what you find at Amen Corner, these

:33:23. > :33:26.gentlemen are here for a 50th anniversary, first time here. I'm

:33:27. > :33:31.going to show them what Amen Corner is because at home it's hard to get

:33:32. > :33:36.the geography. Here we go, this is the 11th, the second shot comes down

:33:37. > :33:41.the hill to hear, that is number 11, then you walk back up the hill to 12

:33:42. > :33:49.across the creek, and then 13 comes back this way, the par-5. This is

:33:50. > :33:53.Amen Corner, the turn around the corner of these three holes and it

:33:54. > :33:58.was Herbert Warren wind that coined the phrase, Amen Corner. He wrote it

:33:59. > :34:02.in an article in Sports Illustrated in 1958 and that's how they got the

:34:03. > :34:06.name Amen Corner. These fellows are out here to see the action for the

:34:07. > :34:13.first time and see how tricky the 12th is. It is a really nasty brute.

:34:14. > :34:27.What do you reckon, lads? Have a great time. Brilliant, thanks, Ken.

:34:28. > :34:36.Good old Ken, making more friends. Birdies very read at number nine

:34:37. > :34:46.today. Three so far. Is it? It must! It must... It looks like more than

:34:47. > :34:59.half of the ball is hanging over the edge. Those are killers.

:35:00. > :35:06.That counts just as much as a 300 yard drive. He does plenty of those

:35:07. > :35:15.as well. Good outward nine Ford Dustin Johnson. Jordan Spieth, Amber

:35:16. > :35:20.Hill at the 188 yard sixth, the easiest hole location on the course.

:35:21. > :35:35.Not that there is anything easy about it. -- down the hill. Well,

:35:36. > :35:39.now. That grass is so sticky at Augusta National it comes straight

:35:40. > :35:43.down the hill from there. But as my look at the 6th, I'd say it drops to

:35:44. > :35:48.20-30 feet down to the putting surface. The ball flies right over

:35:49. > :35:56.the whole on show of the patrons on the Hill just off the tee. We can

:35:57. > :36:00.have a look at them here, there they are. You cannot see them when you

:36:01. > :36:09.are seeing off but they are there. Rory Mcllroy, now. He has a higher

:36:10. > :36:13.trajectory, Rory. This will come down softer. It has skidded a

:36:14. > :36:17.little, settled a bit too quickly, but under the cup will stop at the

:36:18. > :36:19.start of the week the greens looked pretty green and lush at they are

:36:20. > :36:47.looking a bit parched now. Jason Day on 11 after another

:36:48. > :36:54.massive tee shot. This is just a short iron. The bailout is to the

:36:55. > :37:02.right. He may have caught the little dust. This is where the wind swirls

:37:03. > :37:07.the most. Very awkward pin at the 15th today on the front right of the

:37:08. > :37:11.green, eight on and five from the right, you've got to be very

:37:12. > :37:23.careful. This is Westwood's third, and he's playing it from the chairs.

:37:24. > :37:27.It is even more awkward. Nice. Very professional, and old pro's shot

:37:28. > :37:37.there, taking the least amount of risk. We saw Bernhard Langer bail

:37:38. > :37:43.out of the right on 11. The grass is so sticky going up the hill, and

:37:44. > :37:51.then it just gets scary fast. Well judged. Settle. Yeah. There are a

:37:52. > :37:56.couple of sprinkler heads there. In that grass it is beautifully judged,

:37:57. > :38:09.because once you hit the green it is all downhill, down Brees. What is

:38:10. > :38:18.the key to this little shocked? -- down Brees. You got to be able to

:38:19. > :38:22.control your spin. You've got to make the right decision here, how

:38:23. > :38:27.much will it skip forward? Four yards short and it will go back in

:38:28. > :38:41.the water. It's got to be hit perfectly. That was safety first,

:38:42. > :38:52.for sure. Perfect into the breeze, so little margin for error. Just a

:38:53. > :39:07.little upslope, and then the green plays from right to left. He's got a

:39:08. > :39:18.chance, wonderful effortful stop Louis Oosthuizen, best score in the

:39:19. > :39:22.house, 1-under par. This will give us a chance to see how quick this

:39:23. > :39:35.is. Easy. , easy. Soren Kjeldsen, down the slope. This

:39:36. > :39:45.is like going down the face of the Eiger, or down a glacier. It has

:39:46. > :40:01.trickled on. Sit down. What a lovely touch. One of the few putts you can

:40:02. > :40:11.be aggressive on, Miss judged to break a little bit but that is OK.

:40:12. > :40:18.Just a routine par for Rory at the 6th. Danny Willett over a little

:40:19. > :40:27.crest on the green, down the other side. Birdies at six and seven, and

:40:28. > :40:37.I'm not sure how that stayed out for Willett. Velvety touch. The

:40:38. > :40:46.challenge here is to get the speed right coming off the collar, onto

:40:47. > :40:54.the icy putting surface. It will have a little bit of breakdown

:40:55. > :41:01.towards the front of the green. He hashed it, and this is another putt

:41:02. > :41:11.where he hasn't been able to make a guinea 2-putt. That is a good five

:41:12. > :41:18.feet by. -- gimme. The mystery of the 12th, he's doing his Jonny

:41:19. > :41:22.Wilkinson, Jason Day. The 12th is only playing 146 yards, but such a

:41:23. > :41:34.narrow portion of the green, over the bunker, 9-iron. Get left. He's

:41:35. > :41:38.worried about it. If he had pitched it on the rake it would have come

:41:39. > :41:43.back into the water, so no wonder he wanted it to go left to go back into

:41:44. > :41:50.the sand. Looked to be aiming a bit to the right, maybe trying to get

:41:51. > :41:58.into that hole at the 12th. Jordan Spieth has a good six or seven feet

:41:59. > :42:08.left at least. He has holed all of these today. Jordan came out early,

:42:09. > :42:09.good three hours before his round, and hit lots of putts and went back

:42:10. > :42:27.to the clubhouse. What a putt, dead centre, perfect

:42:28. > :42:38.speed. Total control right now. Three shots clear of the nearest

:42:39. > :42:46.challenger, Rory Mcllroy. After day one there were 20 players under par,

:42:47. > :42:47.just four left now. I gave Rory this but it is a little longer than I

:42:48. > :43:15.thought. Kjeldsen up the slope here. What a

:43:16. > :43:24.wonderful up and down, he made a tricky shot look so easy, even par.

:43:25. > :43:32.Langer now at the 12th, 146 yards, swirling breeze. The hole is cut

:43:33. > :43:39.right over the bunker. Oh! GROANS FROM CROWD

:43:40. > :43:42.Now, that hit high on the lip and probably rolled back to the

:43:43. > :43:48.downslope of that bunker. That will be a really difficult shot.

:43:49. > :43:50.The front of the clubhouse where the people get their photograph taken.

:43:51. > :44:07.There is always a big queue. 7-iron, the 16th only playing 156

:44:08. > :44:16.yards gives you an idea of the strength of the breeze. He will only

:44:17. > :44:20.hit that about 170. That's exquisite, just a little three

:44:21. > :44:22.quarters, kept it low, bit of cut spin, feathers it onto the little

:44:23. > :44:40.ledge. We will see what Paul Casey can do

:44:41. > :44:45.here. Perfectly quiet, not a sound. He gives it a twirl, we will see

:44:46. > :44:55.what that means. It means he loved it. Just a little long, good shot!

:44:56. > :45:03.Very narrow fairway at the 7th, straightaway hole, you can see the

:45:04. > :45:13.green in the distance there. Another one right. This is going way right

:45:14. > :45:18.too, he needed a bit of luck, he was lucky on the third, will he be lucky

:45:19. > :45:21.again? This is the hardest hole on the course today. He had virtually

:45:22. > :45:24.no chance to get the ball on the green from there. If McIlroy bombs

:45:25. > :45:38.this and gets fairway he will have nothing but a sand wedge into this

:45:39. > :45:43.green. He just let it eat. That is massive. It is a wonderful shot,

:45:44. > :45:48.sloping fairway. Scott Piercy down this slope. Watch

:45:49. > :46:12.this one. This is Jason Day. This will be all

:46:13. > :46:16.you can handle. Langer has already played out and couldn't get it on

:46:17. > :46:19.the green. He may be a little on the upslope. Did you hear that? That's

:46:20. > :46:34.the best you can do. This was Langer moments ago, hanging

:46:35. > :46:42.lie, rather unlucky that it went back. If Bernhard Langer cannot get

:46:43. > :46:43.it out of here no one can, he is a master from the sand and a master

:46:44. > :46:58.tactician. Over to the eighth, Matsuyama for an

:46:59. > :47:02.eagle. We have not seen many players get onto this green in two. Well

:47:03. > :47:06.judged there. APPLAUSE

:47:07. > :47:11.Matsuyama is making his move, that will get him to two under if he can

:47:12. > :47:13.convert that a man that would be so low third, just three shots behind

:47:14. > :47:34.Jordan Spieth. Paul Casey for his two. Must be,

:47:35. > :47:43.surely. Trying to get away but eventually gets gathered up by the

:47:44. > :47:48.cup, goes to four over, two over today. Big strong arms, he plays

:47:49. > :47:53.mainly on the PGA Tour these days in the United States. This was West

:47:54. > :47:59.just moments ago much it will give you a sense of just how quick this

:48:00. > :48:03.putt is. You have hit a lovely shot in here and all of a sudden you have

:48:04. > :48:20.got to play defence on the greens. Just barely touched it.

:48:21. > :48:31.The same putt as Soren Kjeldsen, dead straight up the hill. Well done

:48:32. > :48:43.for Scott Piercy, 1-under. 37 years of age, from Las Vegas.

:48:44. > :49:04.Bernhard in right behind watching every little movement at the end of

:49:05. > :49:59.the path of the putt. Dustin Johnson at ten for birdie.

:50:00. > :50:05.This would move Dustin Johnson to 1-under par. No, two really great

:50:06. > :50:12.missed opportunities back-to-back for Dustin. Now Jordan's tee shot

:50:13. > :50:26.which flew into the pine straw has come to here. Unlikely for him to

:50:27. > :50:35.put it on the green. Now we come to Justin Rose's second shot.

:50:36. > :50:48.He missed by a couple of yards, from being on top.

:50:49. > :50:58.Is he going round, or just over that branch? Must be going over by the

:50:59. > :51:03.amount of loft on the club, in between, trying to cut it, always

:51:04. > :51:12.difficult with the ball coming out of the light rough. He finds what is

:51:13. > :51:17.one of the deeper bunkers. Matsuyama now to clean up his little birdie

:51:18. > :51:24.putt at eight this would put him in a tie for second with Rory. Yes,

:51:25. > :51:32.sir. Now, what is worried going to try

:51:33. > :51:39.and do, pitch past the flag and try and screw back? This should be, just

:51:40. > :51:45.a bit more, that is a little unlucky, straight down the slope,

:51:46. > :51:48.exactly what he was trying to do, pitch it passed and spin back a

:51:49. > :51:54.little. It is a gift to put that much spin on it in the wind.

:51:55. > :52:05.Bernhard Langer got a good look at Jason Day's putt. This is for par.

:52:06. > :52:10.Oh no. STUDIO: Earlier we saw this incident

:52:11. > :52:15.with Florida's Billy Horschel at the 15th. He was just sizing up this

:52:16. > :52:21.putt and it blows off the green. Straight into the water hazard. A

:52:22. > :52:25.fair bit of confusion, it seems terribly unfair but he was forced to

:52:26. > :52:31.take a drop and would eventually sign for eight six, as he is

:52:32. > :52:35.summoning the rules official. He came home with a round of 73. Let's

:52:36. > :52:40.get his version of events of what exactly went on here.

:52:41. > :52:44.Billy, if you don't mind starting of taking us through 15, it appeared to

:52:45. > :52:48.be awful luck for you. Yes, it was, I played a really good

:52:49. > :52:52.round at even par, a chance to finish from the post under par

:52:53. > :52:56.round, hit a decent shot over the water so I could play it after my

:52:57. > :53:00.second shot, hit a good chip and didn't play enough break, it was

:53:01. > :53:05.only eight feet below the hole on a flat spot, another three feet it

:53:06. > :53:11.would go off the green. But I knew it was stopped, it was my turn to

:53:12. > :53:16.putt. I put my ball down and walked around, and I was looking at the

:53:17. > :53:22.break and everything, lining it up, and the next thing I know a really

:53:23. > :53:26.strong gust came and blew the ball about a foot to two and caught a

:53:27. > :53:30.slope and it went all the way into the water. It was unfortunate, I

:53:31. > :53:34.played really well today and for that to happen and have a chance to

:53:35. > :53:39.go under who knows what would have happened on the last three holes if

:53:40. > :53:43.I made birdie there. Unfortunate situation. Things happen, bad luck.

:53:44. > :53:48.Hopefully, whether the luck comes back my way tomorrow or if it comes

:53:49. > :53:56.back down the road I know I have something coming my way.

:53:57. > :54:00.COMMENTATOR: 73 for Billy Horschel. Can he produce some more magic out

:54:01. > :54:05.of the sand? He must make a decision whether he wants to take a chance.

:54:06. > :54:08.When I say take a chance, that is to skim the collar under the putting

:54:09. > :54:17.surface. It might not be worth the risk. He could go where Rory's was

:54:18. > :54:21.and see if it comes back from there. Let's see what he tries. That had

:54:22. > :54:35.such a good sound and there is nothing you can do, that is gone.

:54:36. > :54:49.He thought he could manage to get it to grip. As it comes out of the

:54:50. > :54:53.bunker... He knows. It is one of those situations where you have to

:54:54. > :54:57.know before you hit your second shot that that bunker is not the place to

:54:58. > :55:09.end up, you needed to go past the hole to have any chance. Kjeldsen's

:55:10. > :55:17.third shot. He is a wonderful wage player. -- wedge player.

:55:18. > :55:24.Danny Willett coming down the slope at the 9th.

:55:25. > :55:30.GROANS FROM CROWD Doesn't want it to go much further

:55:31. > :55:36.and run onto the next tier. Always difficult to judge the pace on those

:55:37. > :55:39.slopes. Unlikely birdie opportunity for Snedeker.

:55:40. > :55:46.CHEERING What they putt down the hill on

:55:47. > :55:48.number eight! -- a putt. That is the Snedeker we are used to seeing.

:55:49. > :56:04.Moving into a tie for fifth. This putt is uphill most of the way

:56:05. > :56:14.and then it levels out. In fact, at the cup it may take a little bit the

:56:15. > :56:18.other way. It is not easy to judge the pace, is it? This is one of the

:56:19. > :56:26.most difficult two putts on the entire golf course. Up the hill and

:56:27. > :56:30.level and then it goes down. He has got to get this just right. And also

:56:31. > :56:33.this green is way up in the air so the wind does affect the ball here

:56:34. > :56:54.more than most of the greens. He does not want to leave himself a

:56:55. > :57:03.horrible cross slope attempt. He could have a very tricky putt left

:57:04. > :57:07.otherwise. Subtle. There it goes. Oh boy. He will have that for bogey.

:57:08. > :57:41.Things can change so quickly here. Ken has been having a look at the

:57:42. > :57:47.11th, let's go and look with him. Ken. Quite a nice view down there at

:57:48. > :57:51.the 11th green, I'm at the driving green looking down at the putting

:57:52. > :57:55.surface. When playing downhill there is a lot to take into account, there

:57:56. > :58:01.is a nice flat bit of ground, let's put the green here. If you fly the

:58:02. > :58:05.ball into a normal green as it goes downhill the ball goes further so

:58:06. > :58:09.when choosing a club on the downhill shot shot you will play flies a

:58:10. > :58:13.little further so that is tricky and the wind is also swirling about. The

:58:14. > :58:17.other thing today when I get the book out, here is how the green

:58:18. > :58:22.looks on the plan of the green, this is the water hazard to the left and

:58:23. > :58:27.there is water beyond, a pot bunker here and narrow putting surface with

:58:28. > :58:31.these mounts and the flag is there, 29th four from the right. There is a

:58:32. > :58:34.good distance from the water but the problem is if you miss it on this

:58:35. > :58:38.side here it is very difficult to get up and down because the Hall

:58:39. > :58:43.Green slopes this way, the front that slopes this way. It looks

:58:44. > :58:47.innocuous but to get a decent putt you've got to take the water on

:58:48. > :58:50.command if you don't and miss on the wrong side, by jingoism will be

:58:51. > :58:55.difficult to get down into macro. It looks good but choosing the shot on

:58:56. > :58:56.the second shot will be so difficult and it's the hardest hole on the

:58:57. > :59:04.golf course as well. That is so good, it is magic, it is

:59:05. > :59:12.just magic, Kjeldsen, good up and down and he knows it. He goes on red

:59:13. > :59:18.figures, Kjeldsen. Beautiful birdie here at the 8th, tied for fourth and

:59:19. > :59:27.only three shots back. Could be three shots back here in a moment.

:59:28. > :59:36.It's got a chance. Sit down, I thought it had enough pace to hold

:59:37. > :59:38.its line. I think the next couple of putts are going to be big moments in

:59:39. > :00:01.this third round. APPLAUSE

:00:02. > :00:05.Nice steady round for Jamie Donaldson. Plus five, lovely eagle

:00:06. > :00:46.at the 2nd got his round going. Big putt for McIlroy. It is left all

:00:47. > :00:55.the way. Well, wouldn't this be something? As well as Rory played

:00:56. > :01:00.the hole, and as poorly as Spieth has played the hole Spieth can make

:01:01. > :01:04.this putt and both walk out of here having made five. Matt Sion at the

:01:05. > :01:12.9th, second shot. Go-ahead. The ball up the hill, the wind off the left,

:01:13. > :01:16.such a difficult pin to get at. It is going to go on to the middle tier

:01:17. > :01:18.but if you are going to miss the green at that range at least you are

:01:19. > :01:38.putting up the slope. Well, here we go, Jordan Spieth for

:01:39. > :01:46.bogey. A good seven feet. At least it's a little bit up the hill. It is

:01:47. > :01:51.all team effort with Jordan. He and his caddy have looked at this from

:01:52. > :01:54.every conceivable direction, I feel. A difficult one to read, as you

:01:55. > :01:58.know. See if A difficult one to read, as you

:01:59. > :02:02.know. See if he can pick the line. Not much in it.

:02:03. > :02:12.APPLAUSE Another one dead centre. That's got

:02:13. > :02:19.to be a bit of a shock to McIlroy's system, as well as he played the

:02:20. > :02:25.holed, to come off their par with Rory. All of a sudden, we've got a

:02:26. > :02:30.dogfight. A change in the commentary box, Andrew Cotter and Peter Alliss.

:02:31. > :02:43.COMMENTATOR: Thank you, Ken. That was a cracking shot. Jason Day on

:02:44. > :02:53.the 13th, a bit of a downslope. Looking to fears that one in lower.

:02:54. > :03:03.-- looking to fizz it in. Day back to 1-over. Matt C armour at the 9th,

:03:04. > :03:11.long putt up the hill. -- Hideki Matsuyama at the 9th.

:03:12. > :03:25.Come on, come on. That is woefully short. He looks a very good player.

:03:26. > :03:31.He has hit more greens in rigour Laois and then anybody else today, I

:03:32. > :03:36.think he has hit eight of the front nine. Which isn't everything, Jordan

:03:37. > :03:39.Spieth has hit three of the first seven and scrambled, scrambled,

:03:40. > :03:43.scrambled. Which is one of the arts around here.

:03:44. > :03:57.There they are, on the eighth tee. A massive hole up the tee. A couple of

:03:58. > :04:03.birdies here for Spieth. Turn. Pushing it again towards the

:04:04. > :04:09.bunkers. Wide of the bunkers. Well, Peter, he is hitting it off the tee

:04:10. > :04:13.all over the shot but he is getting up and down. Very difficult for

:04:14. > :04:20.McIlroy playing alongside this, because he is driving the ball very

:04:21. > :04:32.well. Famous last words. That's gone right as well. Scored the bunker.

:04:33. > :04:40.It's all a struggle. Spieth is getting away with it, but McIlroy is

:04:41. > :04:53.really not at his best at all. Scott Piercy at the 8th.

:04:54. > :05:07.Tied third at the moment, three shots behind. Danny Willett at the

:05:08. > :05:12.10th. Playing it nicely. Flipped it. Lovely looking green when you stand

:05:13. > :05:14.on the hill and played down, and that could come nicely nicely. Very

:05:15. > :05:30.nice. Steady, steady. So treacherous. Look

:05:31. > :05:36.at that, still not stop. Such a sigh of relief when it finally comes to

:05:37. > :05:40.rest. Langer, for eagle, on the par-5 13th.

:05:41. > :05:47.Tap in birdie and he will go back to level par. The world rankings

:05:48. > :05:55.started 30 years ago and who was number one, 30 years ago? The wee

:05:56. > :06:01.man here? It was, 30 years ago. That will move him back into a tie for

:06:02. > :06:05.sixth place. But he doesn't hit the ball very high!

:06:06. > :06:11.CHUCKLES Well done Bernard. You keep going.

:06:12. > :06:13.You need another jacket. That was a moment ago, and Jason Day for birdie

:06:14. > :06:31.on the 13th. Tied together level par. They are

:06:32. > :06:37.calling each other along and not far away at all, just four behind. Did

:06:38. > :06:44.you notice the speed that that ball went in the hole? Disappeared.

:06:45. > :06:52.Matsuyama for a par at the 9th. Beautifully struck. Tidy nine. One

:06:53. > :07:01.-- one bogey, a couple of birdies. Spieth was in this area in the first

:07:02. > :07:06.round and he sprayed it out from there. Plenty of ground up their he

:07:07. > :07:10.has given himself a nice position. He's done the same. There's so much

:07:11. > :07:17.room there that once you get past the trees... But that is absolutely

:07:18. > :07:23.fine. Now he is at a great angle to come down this green. And into the

:07:24. > :07:30.breeze as well. That's OK. He's not in control from tee to green but

:07:31. > :07:39.once he gets on there, however... This is a huge bunker. I don't think

:07:40. > :07:43.Rory can get it too far out of there. He doesn't want to risk

:07:44. > :07:56.hitting the face, but he's still going to be left with a long third.

:07:57. > :08:02.Good hit. 7-iron or something like that.

:08:03. > :08:09.It is a struggle. Certainly at this moment not an epic scintillating

:08:10. > :08:27.battle. Now, Danny Willett. As the shadows

:08:28. > :08:30.of the trees stretch across. Still a good round for Danny Willett so far.

:08:31. > :08:43.He will remain level par for the tournament. Chris Wood, two over.

:08:44. > :08:50.And he has played a belter. Good shot, Chris. Well done.

:08:51. > :08:56.STUDIO Well, things are changing on this

:08:57. > :09:00.leaderboard. Jordan Spieth started with a 1-shot advantage over Rory

:09:01. > :09:04.McIlroy, but it is Hideki Matsuyama of Japan in sole possession of

:09:05. > :09:08.second place right now. Rory in a tie for third with Soren Kjeldsen

:09:09. > :09:16.and Scott Piercy. Further down you can see the progress of the rest

:09:17. > :09:20.would -- of Lee Westwood and Justin Rose. Let's hear from him.

:09:21. > :09:26.Justin, tough stretch early on from you. Can you give us an idea of what

:09:27. > :09:33.you were thinking when you walked away from the seventh green. No,

:09:34. > :09:37.because it's a family rated show. It's just been a battle. The same as

:09:38. > :09:43.yesterday, careless. I really struggled with my speed on the

:09:44. > :09:49.greens the last couple of days and with the greens very gusty... It's

:09:50. > :09:56.kind of unsettling and that was the story of yesterday and today. But I

:09:57. > :10:00.really fought hard, great back nine. I wouldn't say put myself back in it

:10:01. > :10:06.but you know, it keeps the dream alive anyway. Too many squandered

:10:07. > :10:10.shots around the greens early. The approach, being 3-over going into

:10:11. > :10:14.the final day, is it one where you have got to still be patient because

:10:15. > :10:17.you can't afford to attack because the mistakes are just around the

:10:18. > :10:23.corner? If the leaders were to play in the same wind that we played in,

:10:24. > :10:26.I would say that they would maybe quite conceivably give a couple back

:10:27. > :10:31.and I would be five behind and then you feel you have a chance. As we

:10:32. > :10:35.were coming up 18, the wind has just begun to really lay down and that is

:10:36. > :10:41.rubbing salt into the wounds right now, that you feel you got the worst

:10:42. > :10:46.of day to. In my position you need a bit of help from the leaders at this

:10:47. > :10:48.stage. If they finish strong it can put too much distance between

:10:49. > :10:53.themselves and me. There is always something to play for on Sunday and

:10:54. > :10:58.I will come out looking good. I think Sunday will be the first day

:10:59. > :11:02.where you feel you can make a score. We will see some low scores

:11:03. > :11:06.tomorrow. Thank you for your time and good luck tomorrow.

:11:07. > :11:21.COMMENTATOR: Tomorrow is another day. Now Rory, third shot, eighth

:11:22. > :11:23.hole. He needs a few good shots. And there is one. That's pretty good. He

:11:24. > :11:36.was a long way back. It's all been a bit of a struggle.

:11:37. > :11:39.Justin Rose was right, the forecast was for the wind to drop and it

:11:40. > :11:43.certainly has in the last half hour or so and a pretty calm day

:11:44. > :11:54.tomorrow. McIlroy just needs to grind it out today and be in touch.

:11:55. > :11:59.Matsuyama at the 10th. Sprinted away, down the hill, right-to-left.

:12:00. > :12:03.Is it going to shoot on a bit? Yes. There it is.

:12:04. > :12:18.Amazing how far Jason Day got down there. Spieth and his caddy chatting

:12:19. > :12:24.away. Huge greens here. It looks like a small cricket pitch.

:12:25. > :12:35.I think I can be aggressive with this one. "I Think I can be

:12:36. > :12:43.aggressive with this one". Well... He has umpteen practice swings. And

:12:44. > :12:50.here we go. He's got a good line into the flag.

:12:51. > :13:10.It's been a mixed bag from him, hasn't it? Some good, some bad. He

:13:11. > :13:16.has made some crucial putts. He was pretty loose off the tee but he did

:13:17. > :13:20.a pretty sensible thing in playing a 3-wood because there is plenty of

:13:21. > :13:25.ground out there. I'm sure he will knock that one in. Matsui

:13:26. > :13:37.Matsuyama now. Not now. Jason Day was almost done by that, almost a

:13:38. > :13:44.ceremonial bunker, doesn't get much play. Kjeldsen. Up the hill at the

:13:45. > :13:50.9th, raises it up and that is a horrid little tester coming back.

:13:51. > :13:59.You look up to the top of the trees and clouds coming across the sky,

:14:00. > :14:02.but it is only the tops of the trees that are blowing. You hope for the

:14:03. > :14:17.best. It looks a lofted club he is playing

:14:18. > :14:22.here. Between the flag and the right-hand edge of the bunker. It

:14:23. > :14:26.could kick in. Like this one. It could come. Here it comes. That

:14:27. > :14:49.could be a beauty. Chris Wood, a chance to get to

:14:50. > :14:54.1-over. Too much. Going nicely, the tall fellow. I remember how well he

:14:55. > :15:01.played in the strong wind at Birkdale back in 2008 as an amateur,

:15:02. > :15:16.nearly won the open. Kjeldsen rattles one in. Firm, bold. Out in

:15:17. > :15:22.36. That brisk walk. Dustin Johnson, for a birdie at the 12th. Not bad,

:15:23. > :15:26.not bad. They don't want to drop, do they? They don't topple in. Long

:15:27. > :15:48.birdie attempt for McIlroy. That is poor at and with Spieth's

:15:49. > :15:55.marker in fairly close, just a few yards right with his drive and it's

:15:56. > :16:07.costing him. That was a misread, wasn't it? Six or seven feet left of

:16:08. > :16:11.the hole. If Spieth holes this, he is tiptoeing away from him. This

:16:12. > :16:27.isn't what was ordered at all by home supporters.

:16:28. > :16:43.So, another big putt. His playing partner with a shorter birdie putt

:16:44. > :16:47.to come. It had to drop for McIlroy. Only a five on this part five. No

:16:48. > :17:07.birdies yet today. Now then, Jordan Spieth. They

:17:08. > :17:09.certainly do a lot of pacing about, these two. Caddy and player. Working

:17:10. > :17:34.in harmony. Well, he has holed a putt pretty

:17:35. > :17:47.much on every green. Of some importance. They were put on the

:17:48. > :17:50.clock, yesterday, his group. Around Amen Corner. They started to be

:17:51. > :18:04.timed and they found it a bit frustrating. Not out of position yet

:18:05. > :18:16.today. It could be in a minute. And everything stops for tea.

:18:17. > :18:32.APPLAUSE It went in. A birdie four. Well, he

:18:33. > :18:36.is marching on but his play has been

:18:37. > :18:48.very scruffy. But he is getting the job done. McIlroy, at the moment, is

:18:49. > :18:57.not. Scott Piercy up the hill on the ninth. All the way at the back, 125

:18:58. > :19:17.yards downwind, the tee shot. Not finished. Bear with us. That's OK.

:19:18. > :19:31.Lee Westwood at the 18th, he has played beautifully today. Certainly

:19:32. > :19:38.on the back nine. Oh yes! He is practically the forgotten man. He

:19:39. > :19:51.has played quite beautifully. He has come back absolutely magnificently,

:19:52. > :19:57.in 32. 71, 1-over par. That is fantastic. Jason Day coming all the

:19:58. > :20:09.way across the 14th green. Watching, in passive. Studying, learning. What

:20:10. > :20:16.a putt. Jason Day! 60 footer across the 14th. Happy day. Suddenly he

:20:17. > :20:24.moves to 1-under par and just four behind Jordan Spieth, the world

:20:25. > :20:31.number one two is rumbling on. The wind is dropping and the natives are

:20:32. > :20:39.getting excited. Look at that. Two birdies in a row, a monster putt.

:20:40. > :20:46.Well, you always see some monster putts here. Look at the distance of

:20:47. > :20:53.this. Caddy on the right, rattling along. Oh!

:20:54. > :21:03.Is easy, easy! 60 feet, a conservative estimate. A little bump

:21:04. > :21:09.of the knuckles with Bernhard Langer. Both going well. The leader,

:21:10. > :21:20.but there are large footsteps behind him. Three clear of Matsuyama. Jason

:21:21. > :21:27.Day going along. Straight drive from Jordan Spieth. Heat can get a long

:21:28. > :21:54.way down this hole today. He looks to be hitting at the ball a

:21:55. > :21:59.little too hard. It is not the wonderful rhythm we are used to, but

:22:00. > :22:11.that has skirted the trees and ended up at the bottom of the hill and

:22:12. > :22:12.that is a big drive. Danny Willett, his second down the slope to the

:22:13. > :22:28.11th. Excitement around the course. That

:22:29. > :22:32.is pretty good actually, from Danny Willett. Tough green. Ken was down

:22:33. > :22:38.there earlier having a look around, as he does. Let's have a look to see

:22:39. > :22:42.where the flag is on number 11. Away from the water, on the right-hand

:22:43. > :22:47.side of the green. The ideal area is here, short and left of the green.

:22:48. > :22:50.If you bail out and think I don't want to go on the water, this is

:22:51. > :22:54.when things really get tricky. It doesn't look like it, it looks like

:22:55. > :23:00.a fairly banal it will shot. If your ball sneaks down that right side,

:23:01. > :23:04.you've hit it six or seven yards off the line. This is what you're faced

:23:05. > :23:09.with. At home you think, that doesn't look too difficult. I know

:23:10. > :23:13.the sprinkler heads are in the way... The grain is against you,

:23:14. > :23:17.it's a bit stiff, and when you reach the green it's absolutely greased

:23:18. > :23:23.lightning. Let's see what we can do. There's that one. By jingo, I got a

:23:24. > :23:28.good break. Just caught the sprinkler head. If you get a little

:23:29. > :23:32.bit bold with it, you have to make sure you get across the stiff stuff,

:23:33. > :23:39.but watch it go, it's gone, gone forever. It's not impossible if you

:23:40. > :23:44.go a bit wide, that's gone 15 or 20 feet by, that you can putt it in the

:23:45. > :23:50.water. This pin looks innocuous but if you missed it on the right it can

:23:51. > :23:55.get you in real trouble. If you miss it on the left, you have to take the

:23:56. > :24:06.water on. Danny Willett, at the 11th. Third shot. Was he watching

:24:07. > :24:19.Ken this morning? That is getting closer, tiptoeing close. Good

:24:20. > :24:26.effort. Now, Langer. A little wedge in his hands here. That is a huge

:24:27. > :24:34.putt from Jason Day, his playing partner. Get in, they say! And it

:24:35. > :24:40.does. Birdie on the 13th, birdie on the 14th. He moves to 1-under par. A

:24:41. > :24:48.tie for third alongside Jason Day and four behind Jordan Spieth.

:24:49. > :25:00.Well, Charley Hoffman for an eagle, up the hill. Oh! No, no. Wouldn't it

:25:01. > :25:08.be an amazing thing for Langer to win and become the oldest person by

:25:09. > :25:15.about ten years to win this event? It would be remarkable. Hideki

:25:16. > :25:21.Matsuyama on the 10th, for his par. Knocked it in close for his second

:25:22. > :25:25.but he was above the hole. Slipped by but he remains two under and the

:25:26. > :25:32.nearest pursuer to Jordan Spieth. And there is Jordan Spieth. Coming

:25:33. > :25:37.up to this pin, which you can see, four or five or six yards from the

:25:38. > :25:41.back of the green, very difficult to get to the close -- close to the

:25:42. > :25:57.middle of the hole. As good as he can hit it, right at

:25:58. > :26:03.the flag... That's going to stop in that middle bit. But he must have

:26:04. > :26:11.thought that would be within ten feet. Instead he is within ten or 12

:26:12. > :26:13.yards, more maybe. Now, Rory. Looking for a little touch of, if

:26:14. > :26:35.not magic, at least a few good ones. Needs to come up. It sticks there,

:26:36. > :26:45.does it? Does it? Steady, stop, stop. It probably will. Looks a bit

:26:46. > :26:53.laboured with the shoulders coming up. He looks anxious, laboured,

:26:54. > :27:03.heavy. I don't know. Here is Sergio. Come on, Sergio. As he played a

:27:04. > :27:14.magical little chip? He certainly has. It is Seve Ballesteros's

:27:15. > :27:21.birthday today. A great day, the 9th of April.

:27:22. > :27:36.Seve Would be 58? 59 today. A year older than Bernhard Langer. Bernd

:27:37. > :27:40.Wiesberger! Oh! So close. We've seen some holes in one here. Trevor

:27:41. > :27:48.Immelman, remember. Ian Poulter, Harrington. Not quite to be. Have

:27:49. > :27:57.another book at this. Looks odds-on to go but in, there. Just catches

:27:58. > :28:00.it. Clive Clarke, our old colleague, had one here whether flag was at the

:28:01. > :28:17.front. I'm sure it will be eight Sabin

:28:18. > :28:23.birdie for Bernd Wiesberger to ease his troubles today. His debut,

:28:24. > :28:38.smiley -- Smylie Kaufman. Played a good one

:28:39. > :28:53.but it is going way past. Steady, steady. You think some greens are

:28:54. > :29:01.fast, try these! Scott Piercy on the 10th. See how close they are to the

:29:02. > :29:06.clubhouse. Just a fairway wood. A little bit easier to get some

:29:07. > :29:11.right-to-left and get it shooting on down there. Needs to get down to the

:29:12. > :29:27.flat to make it a bit easier, which it will.

:29:28. > :29:38.Now, down to putting again. Spieth first. He has holed some very

:29:39. > :29:43.crucial putts today. McIlroy, well, he has holed a couple of five at

:29:44. > :29:47.once, but nothing has happened for him so and he is dropping behind.

:29:48. > :30:15.Slow putt. He couldn't! That was a wonderful

:30:16. > :30:29.effort. Brilliant tennis. Wonderfully judged. Easy four. Nine

:30:30. > :30:37.holes completed. 1-under. It is amazing he has eked out 1-under on

:30:38. > :30:44.that front nine hitting it the way he does, but a master on the greens.

:30:45. > :30:51.Kjeldsen, long par putt. So, the Dane will drop one on the 10th.

:30:52. > :31:09.And 1-over for the day. Just in time to see McIlroy, shorter putt than

:31:10. > :31:23.Spieth's, similar speed. Pretty straight.

:31:24. > :31:40.That's the way it has been today, I'm afraid. A struggle. Smylie

:31:41. > :31:45.Kaufman's second two 14. Could slip away to the right if it is just

:31:46. > :31:54.right of the pin but that went left and it is rolling back. Smylie.

:31:55. > :32:05.Welcome back, Ken Brown. Thank you, Peter. Nice par on the ninth for

:32:06. > :32:13.Rory, looking at his card, 38. 3-putt at the 7th. The breeze is

:32:14. > :32:23.just dying a little bit, just a fraction. Quite a long walk back to

:32:24. > :32:31.the 10th tee. Ten, 11, 12 don't offer much, pars are good on all

:32:32. > :32:40.holes. Spieth just loves this course. He does. It was remarkable,

:32:41. > :32:53.we talked before that he has led six rounds at Augusta now. Up to the

:32:54. > :33:04.12th, Danny Willett. Just 146 yards. Wonderful shot by Willett. Level

:33:05. > :33:14.par, chance to go 1-under. Beautifully struck from Jason Day,

:33:15. > :33:21.not too much spin at the 15th. The wind is trying to blow it, that

:33:22. > :33:29.would be cruel. If there is a pitch mark or a spike mark, still moving.

:33:30. > :33:34.I think it has stopped. Hideki Matsuyama going for a high ball,

:33:35. > :33:39.just trying to control that a bit more. Front right to pin position,

:33:40. > :33:46.just about there. Great finish, great final round last year, from

:33:47. > :33:57.Matsuyama. To finish well up inside the top ten. Smylie nudges it in, so

:33:58. > :34:04.he has plenty to smile about. 1-under par, in the red, first

:34:05. > :34:11.Masters at 24 years of age, he played his first tournament earlier

:34:12. > :34:17.this season. The tactics here are to work the ball right to left, you've

:34:18. > :34:20.only got to get its 260 and it hits the downslope and scoots down the

:34:21. > :34:28.hill, it is a little easier to draw it as well. There is the slope on

:34:29. > :34:33.the fairway. It will scamper down there. Before that, Danny, this is

:34:34. > :34:44.inside right edge, not outside the hole. Yes! He is putting

:34:45. > :34:50.beautifully, he has a lovely touch going. 12 in the world ranking these

:34:51. > :35:07.days, highly regarded and rated player, going nicely.

:35:08. > :35:38.It has pinged off the downslope and that is perfect, the further down it

:35:39. > :35:45.goes the flat of the lie and the closer you get to the flag. Perfect.

:35:46. > :35:57.Should be a 3-wood for McIlroy as well.

:35:58. > :36:11.Tight left. It has gone right under the skirt of the bushes. Still an

:36:12. > :36:15.enormous tree in front of it. He has seen worse at this hole but he will

:36:16. > :36:21.have to do something to find a par here. My old Ryder Cup partner,

:36:22. > :36:30.Bernhard Langer, amazing, 58 and going strong. Down the slope here.

:36:31. > :36:34.Yet again, my goodness, this is amazing, 33rd appearance. People

:36:35. > :36:38.have been asking about the long putter and they think it is banned,

:36:39. > :36:45.it is not the long putter that is banned, it is anchoring it and he is

:36:46. > :36:51.not anchoring it. It is difficult to get the message up the hill that he

:36:52. > :36:56.is fine. We saw his ball come out. When I say fine, it is behind a tree

:36:57. > :36:59.but he will be playing his first one, so ignore what you have seen.

:37:00. > :37:06.Bernhard Langer, 58 and Jack Nicklaus finished sixth at the age

:37:07. > :37:09.of 50 in 1990. So there is a precedent. Jason Day playing

:37:10. > :37:25.alongside Langer but he trails the German now.

:37:26. > :37:34.Little slippery downhill from Matsuyama, putting him off. A more

:37:35. > :37:42.exposed area. We are moving somewhere else. Dustin Johnson makes

:37:43. > :37:52.his fair share of eagles. This is for another one. Not his finest

:37:53. > :37:56.moment. You've got to be careful here, it can get away with from you,

:37:57. > :38:07.it slides right and it is all downhill. If you get too cosy with

:38:08. > :38:16.it it will run out. Well judged. Sit down.

:38:17. > :38:30.Day left himself is for his par. Nicely done. But it is Bernhard

:38:31. > :38:34.Langer who is the closest challenger to Jordan Spieth at the moment.

:38:35. > :38:39.Let's watch this again, Bernd Wiesberger, this is how close he

:38:40. > :38:44.came to a hole-in-one on the 16th. We've seen great drama around this

:38:45. > :38:54.hole over the years, a few holes in one. This has been a well paced

:38:55. > :39:00.hole, 15 of them. But not in that pin position. Unlucky for the

:39:01. > :39:04.Austrian. The ball of McIlroy and the tree of McIlroy right in front

:39:05. > :39:09.of him as the hole plays. Can he squeeze around the side of it a bit,

:39:10. > :39:16.Ken? I think he would have to nudge it outside. Chris Wood on the 17th.

:39:17. > :39:20.Putting for a birdie but he would be delighted to two putt from here,

:39:21. > :39:32.lots of undulating swirls to go over. He hasn't, has he?

:39:33. > :39:45.A couple over for his round, 3-over for the Masters.

:39:46. > :39:51.STUDIO: Subpar rounds have been few and far between but Lee Westwood had

:39:52. > :39:59.one of them today, he and Louis Oosthuizen 71, spectacular effort at

:40:00. > :40:03.the 18th. And it is his 17th playing of the Masters, a man who has been

:40:04. > :40:06.runner-up here before, he knows his way around.

:40:07. > :40:10.Let's hear from him. 71 today, how good was that score?

:40:11. > :40:15.It felt very good. The conditions were tougher than yesterday even.

:40:16. > :40:19.The front nine played tough, went round in 3-over par command the back

:40:20. > :40:27.nine gives you a few scoring chances, you can go at a couple of

:40:28. > :40:30.pins, 15, 16, 17, so it will be interesting viewing later.

:40:31. > :40:33.A few of the players coming in said they felt the wind was easing down a

:40:34. > :40:37.fraction coming up 18. Did you notice that?

:40:38. > :40:42.Myself and Paul felt it had dropped on the last three or four holes. But

:40:43. > :40:44.it is certainly still blowing and gusting.

:40:45. > :40:46.1-over for the tournament going into the final day, what are you

:40:47. > :40:48.thinking? the final day, what are you

:40:49. > :40:57.I've given myself a chance to win going into Sunday. Hopefully I will

:40:58. > :41:01.not be too far out of the lead. We just have to see, anything can

:41:02. > :41:05.happen around Augusta. The best of luck, thank you for your time.

:41:06. > :41:22.Here is the amazing Bernhard Langer, second hole. You can just see the

:41:23. > :41:28.pin there. Front right. Bernhard Langer, Langer is on fire, wonderful

:41:29. > :41:35.shot from Bernhard Langer. He has another chance to get to 3-under.

:41:36. > :41:51.This is a chop out for Rory, don't be too greedy. OK, don't run into

:41:52. > :42:01.the bunker. Not bad. On the flat. Jason Day.

:42:02. > :42:17.Nice little bounce. That's OK there. Just judging the pace coming out of

:42:18. > :42:22.that cholera. -- collar. It is a bit more difficult. Great pairing, Jason

:42:23. > :42:29.Day and Bernhard Langer, today. Scott Piercy for his par.

:42:30. > :42:39.The green tilt is quite a lot from back right to front left. The only

:42:40. > :42:51.easy putt is from short left. So to the leader.

:42:52. > :42:57.The breezes of the right, you don't want to swing it too much in the

:42:58. > :43:03.breeze and coming off the left side. The ball is always below your feet,

:43:04. > :43:10.the ideal shot is cut spin and hold it into the slope into the breeze.

:43:11. > :43:19.I think that is where the wind is coming off, off the right, slightly

:43:20. > :43:28.helping. What they seem, absolutely fantastic. -- what a scene. If these

:43:29. > :43:31.two go on the clock, we know who is the slow one, Rory is like an

:43:32. > :43:40.express train. We will leave them to their thoughts

:43:41. > :44:17.and go to Matsuyama on the 12th. Go! Go, he says. Has it caught the

:44:18. > :44:20.bunker? No, it is OK. Looks like he's going for a little look draw

:44:21. > :44:31.shot, the shoulders pointing left, the feet on the target line. Started

:44:32. > :44:35.right, swinging on the breeze. Absolutely... Just stop there,

:44:36. > :44:44.straight up the slope. Wonderful shot, it was worth waiting for. He

:44:45. > :44:49.half used the breeze to get there. Bryson DeChambeau played with Spieth

:44:50. > :44:55.yesterday, he's back to 3-over for the tournament, 3-over for the

:44:56. > :45:02.round. The leading amateur at the moment. Langasque, the French

:45:03. > :45:08.amateur, made the cut but further down the field. 83 today for

:45:09. > :45:18.Langasque. Good break from Jason Day, kicking down the back, allowing

:45:19. > :45:26.him to get the putter in hand. Sit down. Sit down. Sit down! Oh no!

:45:27. > :45:30.Surely... Quick, run up there. He's so lucky that stopped. Six more

:45:31. > :45:39.inches and that is down on the bottom level. A tricky one for

:45:40. > :45:46.Smylie Kaufman, not a lot of green to play with. Try and generate that

:45:47. > :45:56.spin. It has gone too far. If that goes any further left that could be

:45:57. > :46:04.a rather... It settles there. Rory playing his third.

:46:05. > :46:17.Higher flight, should land a little softly. He has a chance to save his

:46:18. > :46:21.par. In danger of losing touch at the moment, isn't he, Ken? Spieth

:46:22. > :46:27.seems to have found is in control after the earlier holes when he was

:46:28. > :46:34.a little bit more ragged. Smylie Kaufman.

:46:35. > :46:45.His dad was coach at UAB University, Alan Kaufman, where Graeme McDowell

:46:46. > :46:48.was a college kid. His first name is actually Carter, perfectly good

:46:49. > :47:25.name. Bernhard on the 16th. He won the senior British Open at

:47:26. > :47:35.WPA is a go at Royal Porthcawl, 67, one of the best rounds I've ever

:47:36. > :47:44.seen he's got to go over the corner of the bunker. Lofted club. Deft

:47:45. > :48:02.touch. Langer was 32 when Matsuyama was

:48:03. > :48:04.born. And they are tired, second place at the moment. Nice par from

:48:05. > :48:20.Matsuyama on the 12th. Right, Rory, this is a good moment

:48:21. > :48:28.to brush one in and put pressure on his playing partner.

:48:29. > :48:32.Uphill, keep a bit of speed on this one, otherwise it will slip away on

:48:33. > :48:54.the low side on the left. Not to be. Jason Day. Suddenly a few

:48:55. > :49:04.putts are being missed and Day will slip back and McIlroy will slip back

:49:05. > :49:09.to level par, as will Day. He's had a few problems on this pin, slightly

:49:10. > :49:17.over drawing it, that was a 3-wood, and all of that room on the right

:49:18. > :49:22.was tricky for him. 12-over on the 10th hole in his career at the

:49:23. > :49:28.Masters. The toughest hole in the United States. Someone has been

:49:29. > :49:34.doing their work. Yes, that is a statistic. Bernhard Langer was 34

:49:35. > :49:41.when Hideki Matsuyama was born so I was wrong. That is a fairly

:49:42. > :49:45.pointless statistic. Right, Jordan Spieth, just tidied up his game on

:49:46. > :49:46.the last few holes tee to green, and the putter is still functioning

:49:47. > :50:02.well. Spieth is currently leading the

:50:03. > :50:06.field in putts up to this point. From this angle he has a bit of left

:50:07. > :50:18.to right but he's basically up the hill. This to stretch his lead.

:50:19. > :50:30.Has he hit it? No. Just fading away at the end anyway. He has holed some

:50:31. > :50:38.good ones for pars, not to be there for birdie but a solid four. Langer

:50:39. > :50:46.and Matsuyama, three ahead of them and five ahead of his playing

:50:47. > :50:52.partner. Danny Willett moving up there.

:50:53. > :51:04.Aiming a long way to the right, Smylie. 8-iron, trying to force it

:51:05. > :51:11.in, keep it low. Not too bad, very awkward with the cross wind

:51:12. > :51:21.whistling in from the right. Third to the par-5 for Danny Willett. It

:51:22. > :51:31.very nice birdie on the 12th. -- a very nice birdie. Just choking down

:51:32. > :51:41.a little bit. No. Come off the downslope? No, that is awkward.

:51:42. > :51:55.Chris Wood, 18th green, putting across the slope a little bit.

:51:56. > :52:08.72, 73, 75 for Chris Wood. Looking at his card today, he finishes on

:52:09. > :52:12.plus for. Just a slightly disappointing one, very

:52:13. > :52:16.disappointing finish really. He dropped a couple on the last three

:52:17. > :52:20.holes. This is the result of the third shot of Danny Willett, all of

:52:21. > :52:29.the weight on the left side and possibly bump it into the slope, or

:52:30. > :52:34.just fluff it. STUDIO: Problems for the Sheffield

:52:35. > :52:37.man at the 13th but a quick squint at the leaderboard will tell you

:52:38. > :52:41.Jordan Spieth still has a three shot advantage from an Atlanta and Hideki

:52:42. > :52:46.Matsuyama. Jordan Spieth, world number two, Bernhard Langer

:52:47. > :52:51.currently the world number 1080 in the world rankings now and giving a

:52:52. > :52:56.fantastic account of himself will stop Hideki Matsuyama averages 4.9

:52:57. > :53:01.birdies per round on the PGA Tour in America and that leads the ranking.

:53:02. > :53:06.No surprise that this young man, 24 years of age, who tied for fifth

:53:07. > :53:10.here last year is giving such a good performance once again. Smylie

:53:11. > :53:20.Kaufman from Alabama in that three ball tie for fourth.

:53:21. > :53:28.Willett going with the putter, his fifth shot at the 13th, one of the

:53:29. > :53:39.easier holes, the par-5. He's got it, has he? It slid across the face

:53:40. > :53:48.of the hole. Tee shot on the 11th of Jordan Spieth.

:53:49. > :54:15.It has been a tough hole for McIlroy this week, the tee is up a little

:54:16. > :54:26.bit. Looking anxious again. He just needs it to sit.. Dear. My goodness,

:54:27. > :54:30.parked it right by the tree. He needs a bit of luck and it doesn't

:54:31. > :54:36.look like he has a backswing which would be very unlucky. Matsuyama,

:54:37. > :54:49.3-wood off the tee at 13. They like it. Tight to the trees and write

:54:50. > :54:56.down the middle. Beautiful. -- right down. Let's look at the 13th hole,

:54:57. > :55:03.Ken. Fabulous par-5, 510 yards, just look at it, dog-leg hard to the

:55:04. > :55:07.left, you've got to shape it right to left, the fairway tilts massively

:55:08. > :55:12.from right-to-left with the creek running down the left side. Good tee

:55:13. > :55:16.shot if you get a good one way, most fellows can get there with an iron.

:55:17. > :55:20.With the breeze perhaps a bit more. The Guardian of the green is the

:55:21. > :55:27.little stream and the pin is on the back terrace. Fabulous. Bryson

:55:28. > :55:33.DeChambeau he has slipped back a little bit today. But still not too

:55:34. > :55:38.far away. Spieth is only about five months older than DeChambeau, with

:55:39. > :55:42.all of the things speed has already done in the professional game. But

:55:43. > :55:45.DeChambeau, to many eyes, looks the real deal, if the somewhat slightly

:55:46. > :56:14.bizarre deal. He bogeyed the 13th and gets one

:56:15. > :56:23.back on the 14th. DeChambeau back to two over. That is good enough for a

:56:24. > :56:27.time for 15th at the moment. Interesting character, interesting

:56:28. > :56:32.clubs, lots of you will know the story about him, 37 and a half

:56:33. > :56:39.inches, all of his clubs. The US amateur. Tiger Woods did that and so

:56:40. > :56:46.did Jack Nicklaus. The first amateur to finish inside the top ten after

:56:47. > :56:51.36 since Ryan Moore. So all of the signs are there. Sometimes you don't

:56:52. > :56:54.know who is going to kick on and be a great success. Two amateurs made

:56:55. > :57:04.the cut, Romain Langasque hit 83 today said Bryson DeChambeau has

:57:05. > :57:08.him. That is a look from Langasque straight at the camera side on. I

:57:09. > :57:17.think Bryson DeChambeau will be the leading amateur. From 167, Bernhard

:57:18. > :57:22.Langer's second to the 17th, over the bunker, it is delightful. You

:57:23. > :57:26.often get deceived by the breeze. That is good quality. Very mind

:57:27. > :57:30.Bernhard Langer is 30 yards shorter than most of the average driving

:57:31. > :57:36.distances this week it is a remarkable effort. Back to the 13th

:57:37. > :57:42.and Hideki Matsuyama, wonderful tee shot. But even a good tee shot here

:57:43. > :57:46.and leave you with a slightly awkward stance just below the ball

:57:47. > :57:50.here. The tendency would be then to move it from right-to-left to allow

:57:51. > :58:03.for that. Still another hybrid, still some way back, 241. His feet

:58:04. > :58:14.pointing right, shoulders targeting right, sometimes it can make it

:58:15. > :58:24.difficult with this target. That was a little unlucky. He flushed it. He

:58:25. > :58:28.just rode the breeze a little bit and travelled to far. That's going

:58:29. > :58:35.to be awkward. It deserved better, I thought. McIlroy has a bit of a

:58:36. > :58:43.backswing here, but long deliberations with JP. He's got a

:58:44. > :58:48.shot here but it is a risky one. If he gets it right in the breeze and

:58:49. > :58:54.gets that kick he could run it on the water. This is one where you

:58:55. > :59:00.have got to play positive within a percentage. What has he got? He's

:59:01. > :59:07.going to play it back in his stance and try and hard draw it. Back to

:59:08. > :59:15.that in a moment, Smylie Kaufman for his birdie on the 16th.

:59:16. > :59:24.In she goes. Kaufman to two and, now alongside Bernhard Langer and

:59:25. > :59:36.Matsuyama. Three birdies in the last four. A little about Smylie Kaufman,

:59:37. > :59:41.from Birmingham, Alabama. Inside the top 50. Winner at the Las Vegas

:59:42. > :59:46.open. They say 2016 but it was the end of last year but they say 2016

:59:47. > :59:52.because it's this season, if that makes any sense at all. What a

:59:53. > :00:00.massive drive from Jason Day, he is really pounding it out there.

:00:01. > :00:13.Just the wrong side of the slope, this green is amazing. It won't go

:00:14. > :00:19.too far. But, OK. He's finally made up his mind, how much is he taking

:00:20. > :00:21.on here? He's got to be careful if he's going to chase the green. He's

:00:22. > :00:38.got to be careful. Oh no. That was always the risk. Even if he

:00:39. > :00:42.had hit that perfectly, the chance of doing that if you are going at

:00:43. > :00:50.the flag I'm not sure I would have played that shot myself. As soon as

:00:51. > :00:54.he hit it, you heard him say "Oh no, no." His round is slipping away from

:00:55. > :01:00.him and his playing partner goes from strength to strength. I think

:01:01. > :01:06.he left himself 20 yards short of the green and played up the length

:01:07. > :01:12.of the putting surface, that would have been the better option. It has

:01:13. > :01:37.been a long wait for Spieth but it is his turn now.

:01:38. > :01:49.Well, there is Amen Corner, on the 12th green, just to the left of the

:01:50. > :01:57.picture. Ken has been there of course and he has been having a

:01:58. > :02:04.little look around. You've just finished the 11th, a tricky part

:02:05. > :02:10.four, and you wander up onto the first tee. The difficulty is always

:02:11. > :02:14.where is the wind blowing from? The wind is a brutal old wind today. If

:02:15. > :02:20.you look back at the 12th, it's hard to believe, it's almost blowing in

:02:21. > :02:25.completely the opposite direction. On the tee, the wind is swirling a

:02:26. > :02:29.bit. Let's look at where it is swirling at all height flight. You

:02:30. > :02:35.will see it is forever changing direction. Up she goes. See if I can

:02:36. > :02:42.hold it still, hard to do that today. It is swirling and swishing

:02:43. > :02:46.all the time. When you stand on this tee, you have to be decisive. You

:02:47. > :02:53.see players looking at their yardage at they are buying time, seeing how

:02:54. > :02:57.much... If you get it wrong, you will almost certainly be in some

:02:58. > :03:02.sort of trouble. Choosing a club on 12 today is going to be so tricky

:03:03. > :03:08.with this breeze. It is hard with those concrete flags as well. Here

:03:09. > :03:13.we go. The trees being whipped up behind him. The fourth shot,

:03:14. > :03:19.McIlroy. Well, I don't think that this is going to be his year but you

:03:20. > :03:34.never know. We've seen golfing miracles. Aphibarnrat. No! Oh!

:03:35. > :03:42.Beautiful shot. The young man from Asia, from Thailand. Very talented.

:03:43. > :03:53.Jason Day now, he hit a terrific tee shot on 17 and just a very

:03:54. > :03:58.pedestrian wedge to that point. It has been a strange day. There have

:03:59. > :04:05.been so few good scores. McIlroy went out with such high hopes. So

:04:06. > :04:09.many home supporters hoping for great things. He's been uneasy

:04:10. > :04:13.today. He's looked uneasy. He appeared several times as though he

:04:14. > :04:22.were tried to hit the drive too hard. Only fractions. But it's all

:04:23. > :04:27.slipped away. Now, you wouldn't like this one. He had such a good shot in

:04:28. > :04:36.here, for it to go along is such a harsh penalty. Got to catch this

:04:37. > :04:49.just right. Well, that's what can happen. I'm guessing he didn't

:04:50. > :05:01.really care too much for the lie. The ball seems very heavy in the

:05:02. > :05:11.sand here. Dustin Johnson, this is for a par. Well done. You need more

:05:12. > :05:16.than that, you need skill, a bit of good fortune. Incredible touch.

:05:17. > :05:23.Jordan tried to get two hops before he got to the batting surface and

:05:24. > :05:27.really only got one hop. -- departing surface.

:05:28. > :05:37.-- the putting surface. Back to the mighty man of the moment, Bernhard

:05:38. > :05:42.Langer, at the 17th for a birdie. A magnificent second shot. Up the

:05:43. > :05:51.hill. No. It didn't move, but a four. He's played absolutely

:05:52. > :06:00.superbly today. Mr Turtle, Mr Terrapin. Look at him. A bit of

:06:01. > :06:13.early supper. What a boring diet they have. Blanc are now at 18. --

:06:14. > :06:19.Langer now at 18. The wind is left to right. I think he's lost it. Oh!

:06:20. > :06:27.He will have a swing. A long way back but he will have a swing. Here

:06:28. > :06:33.is Hideki Matsuyama, he has still got this for a birdie at the 15th.

:06:34. > :06:38.He's getting closer, dribbling closer. That is a safe par, but the

:06:39. > :06:46.second shot he struck beautifully and it deserves a birdie. He's got

:06:47. > :06:54.to hoist this Way up in the air. Playing about 7-10 yards left of the

:06:55. > :07:00.hole. Oh! If it had landed more to the left, the ball would have got

:07:01. > :07:05.closer. But that's a good shot. That's very good, he looks very good

:07:06. > :07:12.today, I must say. Meanwhile, back to the far corner of the course, the

:07:13. > :07:20.11th green. Jordan Spieth, our leader. With a par putt. That little

:07:21. > :07:24.chip looked simple from just off the edge of the green, but he was unable

:07:25. > :07:36.to get it closer than about seven or eight yards. No.

:07:37. > :07:47.It's going to be a five. But Rory has got work to do for a six. You

:07:48. > :07:50.can tell he feels good on the greens, Peter, because of the

:07:51. > :08:05.aggressive nature and the way he is putting. Dustin Johnson likes to

:08:06. > :08:10.draw the ball. Not quite enough. You don't see many jump back from their

:08:11. > :08:15.out onto that little hollow, even if they stick in the corner. That is

:08:16. > :08:26.not the easiest of little chips. So delicate, so fast. Now, Rory. Fifth

:08:27. > :08:33.shot. GROANS FROM CROWD

:08:34. > :08:45.Well, it's all beginning to collapse.

:08:46. > :08:52.The 14th tee now, Hideki Matsuyama. The ideal tee shot now would be a

:08:53. > :09:03.bit of a draw. APPLAUSE

:09:04. > :09:27.He is living right! Let's have a look at the 14th hole.

:09:28. > :09:33.A slight dogleg left. The pin quite a bit length and over the years. Now

:09:34. > :09:38.it can be as much as a driver or a 6-iron for some of the players. The

:09:39. > :09:45.green, of course, where all the danger comes into play. Danny

:09:46. > :09:54.Willett, for a birdie. And he's got it, well done. Very well done. A

:09:55. > :09:58.correspondence from a gentleman saying he doesn't come from

:09:59. > :10:03.Sheffield, he comes from Rotherham. Really not my business, but someone

:10:04. > :10:07.is agitated about it. Not as agitated as Rory now, this for a

:10:08. > :10:11.double bogey. Oh! A saviour. If you can call that a saviour. Three shots

:10:12. > :10:20.dropped on the homeward nine already. A burst of eagles and

:10:21. > :10:24.birdies now might save the day. Now would be a great time for Rory to

:10:25. > :10:31.look unflappable, and he does look unflappable, he still has a couple

:10:32. > :10:37.of birdie opportunities. Jordan Spieth still has this touchy little

:10:38. > :10:40.putt down the hill for bogey. It's gone much further apart than I

:10:41. > :10:45.thought, that is a good four and a half feet at least. I say I sense he

:10:46. > :10:50.feels great on the greens because he is able to charge at these putts,

:10:51. > :10:54.but I tell you what, you can go to the well once too often. If this

:10:55. > :11:04.doesn't go in, it's likely to go past the shadow.

:11:05. > :11:09.GROANS FROM CROWD Well, not much comfort for Rory, but

:11:10. > :11:16.quite extraordinary! Good tee shot, just off the green by eight or ten

:11:17. > :11:22.yards, and now he is circumnavigating the hole in a high

:11:23. > :11:35.amateur fashion. This now for a six. You don't like

:11:36. > :11:42.to see good players struggling like this. I don't enjoy it at all. I

:11:43. > :11:45.know you don't like this. The green is so fast and requires such a deft

:11:46. > :11:52.touch, he could have blown on that ball and it would have reached the

:11:53. > :11:59.hole. It is back up the hill and he has holed so many putts today. But

:12:00. > :12:05.he has not had a single gimme two putt. He is agitated too, he is

:12:06. > :12:11.taking a lot of time. I don't expect him to miss this.

:12:12. > :12:27.APPLAUSE And he doesn't. Well, out in 35.

:12:28. > :12:37.Certainly old man Acra temp one is only a shot behind. -- suddenly

:12:38. > :12:47.behind. -- suddenly Langer is -- suddenly Langer is only a shot

:12:48. > :12:54.behind. Well, they both really need to collect themselves, and Langer

:12:55. > :12:59.with a bit of tree trouble here. He's going to have to flight this

:13:00. > :13:05.one and cut it. Can he chase it up to the front of the green? Nearly

:13:06. > :13:07.topped it but it is scuttling up there. Doing it rather well. Gives

:13:08. > :13:36.up the ghost. Jason Day, up the hill. Wants to

:13:37. > :13:42.carry it up onto the flat. Hasn't made it. He knew it when he hit it.

:13:43. > :13:53.He's not out of it yet. Spieth has got some birdie able holed 's but

:13:54. > :14:02.also some dangerous ground to cover. This for a birdie, to get to

:14:03. > :14:07.3-under. Oh! It's not going to turn. A dead straight putt, one of those

:14:08. > :14:13.funny ones. A more wiggly one and dead straight and that pace would

:14:14. > :14:17.have done it. But that is OK. 2-under par. Difficult 18th coming

:14:18. > :14:34.up. Another great looking scene. I've

:14:35. > :14:40.said many times, when you come and there is no one here, it's the

:14:41. > :14:46.blandest looking place, just acres of grass. But when the spectators

:14:47. > :14:47.are here and the pins are in and the azaleas are out, it's a magic couple

:14:48. > :15:10.of acres. Well, that is a super shot coming

:15:11. > :15:15.off double bogey on 11th. That was a very good recovery. Firm and

:15:16. > :15:22.decisive, right over the top of the flag. Good judgment of distance. He

:15:23. > :15:31.is getting a little twitchy! Steady, steady, steady. I'm OK. Now, Rory.

:15:32. > :15:38.Huge shot for Rory McIlroy here. Only 146 yards. But boy it will get

:15:39. > :15:44.the heart racing. APPLAUSE

:15:45. > :15:55.Well, that might be a little spark. You never know. If you can see

:15:56. > :15:58.suddenly a two or a three and on the par-5 the next hole, you never know.

:15:59. > :16:03.Good recovered to end up four or five shots behind the leaders.

:16:04. > :16:10.Bernhard Langer, third shot. Cannot see the bottom of the flag. Oh!

:16:11. > :16:22.That's just a terrible miscue, there. He's going to wonder if he

:16:23. > :16:28.got the right number. Matsuyama. Ideally you want to hit this is a

:16:29. > :16:33.good 20 or 30 feet left of the flag. He looks to have typed it. Will it

:16:34. > :16:40.catch the slope? Looks close, I don't think it will. You can't

:16:41. > :16:46.imagine how fast that putt is. That's probably 25 on the

:16:47. > :16:55.Stimpmeter, that little guy. Dustin Johnson, just off the green, the

:16:56. > :17:02.16th. Looks good! Is another one! He has had a few of those today, just

:17:03. > :17:05.not right up to the edge of the hole.

:17:06. > :17:17.-- just knocked up to the edge of the hole. He's playing a cut shot

:17:18. > :17:27.here, like 90% of the field. Oh yes. That's OK. He may have a little tree

:17:28. > :17:31.trouble there. Now, Danny Willett. The 15th, dangerous shot. The wind

:17:32. > :17:35.has dropped a lots, if you look at the top of the trees they are not

:17:36. > :17:46.moving much. He has given that a good clip. Oh! He didn't do it. He

:17:47. > :17:50.didn't get there and in fact it landed eight or nine yards short. I

:17:51. > :17:59.think it's unnecessary to go at that green with a wood today. It's just a

:18:00. > :18:04.very difficult hole under these conditions. Now he's got to drop it

:18:05. > :18:10.back and he's staring a six in the face.

:18:11. > :18:25.Langer now. Not bad, he will have that for bogey. That was amazing, I

:18:26. > :18:33.thought it was going to die on the edge of the Law on. It has gone past

:18:34. > :18:44.seven or eight feet. Kjeldsen now. Yes... Well, well, well, well... He

:18:45. > :18:46.has been a little shaky on the start of the back nine, but that will perk

:18:47. > :19:05.him up. -- the flattest green on the course

:19:06. > :19:09.here at the 12th. There won't be a lot of movement on this putt either

:19:10. > :19:25.way. It is ever so slightly downhill. A good opportunity for

:19:26. > :19:37.Jordan Spieth. He's got it! Just at the right moment. Quite a bounce

:19:38. > :19:43.back, right there. These guys, like Rory and Spieth and Jason Day, the

:19:44. > :19:47.reason they are on top, I think their success just trumps their fear

:19:48. > :19:53.of failure. What a comeback birdie that was. It was a good putt all the

:19:54. > :20:00.way. Now McIlroy, who was thinking maybe I can sneak one back here,

:20:01. > :20:06.certainly has a difficult putt to hole, just to tread water with him.

:20:07. > :20:19.Chance gone. That has been the difference today, plus a few scrappy

:20:20. > :20:23.shots. McIlroy has hit very few good shots today. Just off-balance.

:20:24. > :20:34.Matsuyama. He will barely touch this. Crazy. Look how fast this is.

:20:35. > :20:45.Settle. Oh! Whoa! Look what I've found! That's the way to stop them!

:20:46. > :20:52.What a bonus. Guinness book of records stuff, there! Started off

:20:53. > :21:00.hardly moving and ended up about 40 kilometres an hour when it hit the

:21:01. > :21:07.hole. And the antithesis of that, putting straight up the hill. Almost

:21:08. > :21:14.nobody reaches from down there. Jason Day no exception. Well, well.

:21:15. > :21:26.Shane Lowry, haven't seen much of him today. He is now 5-over. 7-iron.

:21:27. > :21:44.Jason Day's attempted par. He's got it.

:21:45. > :21:53.APPLAUSE Good round for Jason Day. Three

:21:54. > :22:17.bogeys. Four birdies for Jason Day. 1-under par. Yes, back in the frame.

:22:18. > :22:30.Langer needs this putt at the 9th for a bogey, 485. If he misses it,

:22:31. > :22:34.he will be back to level par. If he misses this, he has played so well

:22:35. > :22:38.and just had a few chances that didn't drop. I know some question

:22:39. > :22:42.whether he is still anchoring the putter, but watch the top of his

:22:43. > :22:49.left hand. It moves when he strokes this, this part is nowhere near

:22:50. > :22:54.anchored. -- this putter is nowhere near anchored.

:22:55. > :23:06.He's done it! Good escape, a very good escape.

:23:07. > :23:22.Very well done. The young and the old. Excellent. Excellent play from

:23:23. > :23:30.the former champion. Former champion twice. Remarkable man. Here we are,

:23:31. > :23:36.the oldest major champions. Old Tom in the middle, wasn't one of his

:23:37. > :23:42.better days. Tom was just a whisker before my time.

:23:43. > :23:51.Spieth at the 13th. Going to swing it around the corner. Look up at the

:23:52. > :23:55.trees, they don't appear to be moving. The wind has almost died

:23:56. > :24:03.away. The forecast for tomorrow is very good indeed, lovely day with

:24:04. > :24:08.very little wind. Danny Willett, after a brave effort from the

:24:09. > :24:13.fairway on 15, coming up short into the water. Now his fourth shot. This

:24:14. > :24:20.is dangerous. It's got to be just right. Get up there and stay.

:24:21. > :24:30.It will stay. He's got a chance for par. Shane Lowry, he is a testy one.

:24:31. > :24:37.Very fluent and long wrist the action. Just flops it up. Well, just

:24:38. > :24:46.caught the face and killed it. Making hard work of this hole,

:24:47. > :24:50.considering it's only a 7-iron. Rory a bit frustrated now, going with

:24:51. > :24:56.driver. If he hits this well he could have little more than a six or

:24:57. > :25:02.7-iron into this green. It's a risky club, he's got to pull it off.

:25:03. > :25:05.Right! That will be right in the top of those trees.

:25:06. > :25:18.That will be right at the top of those trees. The new Nimbus 3000 not

:25:19. > :25:27.working for him today. That lying clear, he might be able to do

:25:28. > :25:32.something with it. This would be some par save for Danny Willett. Not

:25:33. > :25:39.the only one that has bogeyed the 15th today. He will drop back to

:25:40. > :25:47.level par and a tie for sixth place, four shots behind Jordan Spieth. Two

:25:48. > :25:56.sixes on the par fives. The -- well done, sir. Well done indeed.

:25:57. > :26:16.-- Bryson the well, Lowrie hit that shot short of

:26:17. > :26:32.the bunker too good. It hopped a little bit.

:26:33. > :26:46.The 18th, second shot, Smylie Kaufman. He is two under. Very few

:26:47. > :26:53.balls stop there but that's OK. We look at the leaderboard now and

:26:54. > :26:59.Jordan Spieth on 4-under par, Hideki Matsuyama hot on his tail. Jason

:27:00. > :27:01.Day, Danny Willett in with a fighting chance come Sunday. That's

:27:02. > :27:11.all you can ask for. A quick look at the full leaderboard

:27:12. > :27:21.and Jordan Spieth has recovered his composure. Smylie Kaufman, this

:27:22. > :27:25.young man from Alabama, he has had some good form of late. 12 at the

:27:26. > :27:32.Arnold Palmer Invitational. It is not a surprise. Bernhard Langer, on

:27:33. > :27:38.the 30th anniversary of Jack Nicklaus's ticksth green jacket, he

:27:39. > :27:47.was the oldest winner then, Bernard very much in the conversation after

:27:48. > :27:52.that round of 70. Jason Day, the world and one, certainly not out of

:27:53. > :27:55.it. Some four shots behind Jordan Spieth is the world number one.

:27:56. > :28:00.Danny Willett has had his problems and Soren Kjeldsen, six years since

:28:01. > :28:05.he appeared at the Masters and once again playing very well here, just

:28:06. > :28:12.as he did six years ago. Rory McIlroy has had, quite simply, a day

:28:13. > :28:17.to forget so far. Can he try and retrieve some of those shots on the

:28:18. > :28:26.way home? Justin Rose in with a 73. Louis Oosthuizen posted the first

:28:27. > :28:30.sub round of the day with that 71. In 8-19 place. There has not been a

:28:31. > :28:35.huge amount of movement in terms of forward momentum from Jordan Spieth.

:28:36. > :28:39.It's certainly an absolutely jam-packed leaderboard, with so many

:28:40. > :28:45.possibilities over the next few holes and indeed the next few hours.

:28:46. > :28:52.Matsuyama's second shot to the dangerous 15th, going with a fairway

:28:53. > :29:01.wood. This is all carry, you've got to get this just right. Over the

:29:02. > :29:07.green is no bargain either. What a shot! That is so brave. It landed

:29:08. > :29:16.like a butterfly with sore feet, Ken. That was special, high and

:29:17. > :29:22.floated into the breeze. That is such a hard shot. What a brave

:29:23. > :29:28.effort. He flushed his fairway wood into 13 and then went over, flushed

:29:29. > :29:34.it again here at 15 and guest just right.

:29:35. > :29:53.Matsuyama just one shot right. He is a high ball hitter. Smylie Kaufman.

:29:54. > :30:01.Downhill from here. This has got a chance. Marvellous effort. That is

:30:02. > :30:17.one heck of a round today. 69 shots. The wind has died a fraction in the

:30:18. > :30:22.last couple of hours, but 73, 72, 69 for Smylie Kaufman. Look at that

:30:23. > :30:43.card. Danny Willett. This hole is proving

:30:44. > :30:51.quite difficult today. Terrific shot for Danny Willett. The water sticks

:30:52. > :30:59.in on the left side. Where is the hole? Service carries that. It is

:31:00. > :31:05.pushing it, you want to end short. Just right of the pin. Past Masters

:31:06. > :31:10.champions have made this shot look so easy but I can assure you it is

:31:11. > :31:16.not. You've got to get this just right. Hanging lie. See how far

:31:17. > :31:24.right he's playing, he wants to swing it in there over the creek. He

:31:25. > :31:28.is laying up, I think. Laying up all the way for Jordan Spieth. There is

:31:29. > :31:40.some strategy, he refused to make a mistake at 13.

:31:41. > :31:48.Fantastic risk and reward hole, particularly with the pin on the

:31:49. > :31:53.back left, if you miss the green go along it's difficult to get down in

:31:54. > :32:00.two. Disciplined layup from Spieth, McIlroy might not have a chance but

:32:01. > :32:04.to run it down the fairway. I think he had a skanky lie, maybe the ball

:32:05. > :32:08.was sitting down in the pine needles, which it can do, but at

:32:09. > :32:23.least it has scuffled down the fairway. The pressure is enormous on

:32:24. > :32:34.McIlroy to win this golf tournament. I imagine it would feel like going

:32:35. > :32:42.to the dentist and having him say uh oh when he looks in your mouth.

:32:43. > :32:51.Bogey for Shane Lowry, 6-over par. Now Rory Mcllroy's third shot.

:32:52. > :32:57.It is like a little parcel shelf on the back left corner of the green

:32:58. > :33:09.about eight yards by 80 yards. He hasn't found it.

:33:10. > :33:13.Willett down the hill, another treacherous putt. So many fast putts

:33:14. > :33:36.here at Augusta National. Will it? It won't. He really looks

:33:37. > :33:46.to have the feel and the touch of these greens today. He's seeing the

:33:47. > :33:51.lines pretty well. Well, Matsuyama has this putt for an eagle to take

:33:52. > :34:01.the outright lead. This would move him to 5-under. But there is one you

:34:02. > :34:14.are trying to load two feet from the cup, if it gets past the cup it gets

:34:15. > :34:27.very quick. -- lull two feet from the cup.

:34:28. > :34:40.Got to keep running, and it is. It is not bad. Sit down, easy. It

:34:41. > :34:47.always runs out an extra foot or two. I like the decision Jordan made

:34:48. > :34:53.here to layup, playing to his strength, he's not exactly beating

:34:54. > :34:58.the sweet spot to death, and he's misjudged that, that will roll back

:34:59. > :35:02.away, all the way back to where Rory ended up. That's rare. To see Jordan

:35:03. > :35:23.miscue with a wedge. It hit the upslope and

:35:24. > :35:33.skidded a little. It was just never far enough. The risk of going over

:35:34. > :35:37.hast to weigh on your mind. -- has two-way on your mind. Such a hard

:35:38. > :35:50.shot for Dustin Johnson from a long way back on 18.

:35:51. > :36:06.Checking with his caddy, he did not see it bounce. Kjeldsen at 14 now.

:36:07. > :36:10.This is really quick. He has got it to grab, has he got it to grab

:36:11. > :36:20.enough? Doesn't want it to go much further. Please.

:36:21. > :36:30.Off to see the wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz. It was always going to

:36:31. > :36:38.be awkward and he knew it, he is a marvellous chip and putt. STUDIO:

:36:39. > :36:42.Let's have a look at the card of Bernhard Langer with the second-best

:36:43. > :36:46.round of the day, he said, I'm convinced that sooner or later one

:36:47. > :36:51.of the over 50s will win a major. He's in fourth place all on his own,

:36:52. > :36:56.let's get doughnut Langer's take on that marvellous round today.

:36:57. > :37:00.You spoke about how difficult this course was in the wind, what

:37:01. > :37:04.expectations did you have considering the conditions?

:37:05. > :37:08.I expected the worst, I played yesterday in really bad conditions

:37:09. > :37:12.and figured the way it started today with the wind actually stronger, I

:37:13. > :37:17.thought it would be this way all day, I'd better just hold on and be

:37:18. > :37:21.patient and hit solid shots, miss it in the right places where you might

:37:22. > :37:26.get it up and down. And I did for the most part. I was pretty pleased

:37:27. > :37:30.with the round. If somebody said to you at the start of the tournament

:37:31. > :37:34.on the final date you would be contending with somebody who wasn't

:37:35. > :37:38.even born when you played your first Masters, he came along 11 years

:37:39. > :37:43.later, what would you say? It can happen in the game of golf,

:37:44. > :37:47.there are not many other sports where that might be the case but in

:37:48. > :37:51.this game a lot of things are possible. Obviously, it would be a

:37:52. > :37:55.thrill for me to be paired with Jordan tomorrow. I've never played

:37:56. > :37:59.with him. It was great to play with Jason Day today, I had a great time

:38:00. > :38:03.and he's a fine young man and we had a good time out there together. Have

:38:04. > :38:09.a good time again tomorrow, good luck. Thank you, I appreciate it.

:38:10. > :38:15.Legend of the European Tour, Bernhard Langer, and still going

:38:16. > :38:19.strong. That gives you an angle, uphill all the way, the slowest putt

:38:20. > :38:30.he will have all day, he will have to give it a good bash.

:38:31. > :38:39.Once again, another putt. The speed has been off today. This is for

:38:40. > :38:56.birdie for Matsuyama. What a disappointment. That is too bad.

:38:57. > :39:10.Japan's top golfer. If he has a decent lie it's not a bad angle to

:39:11. > :39:17.go at the flag from. He has played a delightful shot. He should make his

:39:18. > :39:22.par at the last. If you want to see somebody hit the ball well a long

:39:23. > :39:28.way go and watch this fellow, he's amazing. McIlroy from a similar spot

:39:29. > :39:34.to Feith, got a little teach on the speed. -- similar spot to Spieth.

:39:35. > :39:52.That's not yet dead either. Soren Kjeldsen, winner of the Irish

:39:53. > :40:01.Open last year at Royal County Down. Up the hill for his par. There is a

:40:02. > :40:04.reason they come up short on those long uphill shots, because they

:40:05. > :40:08.don't want the little knee knock coming back down the hill. There is

:40:09. > :40:15.some wisdom in coming up short, actually. Jordan Spieth has not had

:40:16. > :40:24.many unique two putts today and this is another tester for him. It has

:40:25. > :40:32.some movement to the right. -- gimme two putts. Another one dead centre,

:40:33. > :40:41.the only one he missed was on 11. Spieth has been off but fantastic

:40:42. > :40:48.inside five feet today. Be careful, here. I think Rory might have been

:40:49. > :40:57.better served cranking a 3-wood on 13 than hitting that driver. He

:40:58. > :41:01.needs to just hang tough. It's not over yet for him, he has a couple of

:41:02. > :41:09.birdie opportunities, he should hit a wedge. 14 has an inviting pin,

:41:10. > :41:14.there are birdie chances on the horizon.

:41:15. > :41:17.STUDIO: There are indeed and he took a few on the homeward stretch

:41:18. > :41:23.yesterday. That at the moment it is looking just like that, Smylie

:41:24. > :41:28.Kaufman is the man, the 24-year-old from Birmingham, Alabama, who posted

:41:29. > :41:31.that round of 69, the first round in the 60s since the opening day on

:41:32. > :41:37.Thursday. They have been hard to come by in fierce winds and

:41:38. > :41:40.treacherous conditions, glassy conditions on the Augusta greens.

:41:41. > :41:44.Heartening to see the name of Lee Westwood up there, that round of 71

:41:45. > :41:50.is pushing him closer to the lead. He feels he has a chance as we heard

:41:51. > :41:57.earlier in his interview. Back we go.

:41:58. > :41:59.COMMENTATOR: Star-studded leaderboard, to the man on top,

:42:00. > :42:24.Jordan Spieth. Seemed like he was starting to pull

:42:25. > :42:29.it together, he struggled early with a few shots when he had to let go of

:42:30. > :42:33.the club. That is just find there. He cracked the face of his driver in

:42:34. > :42:39.the first round so he's been fiddling with driver heads and not

:42:40. > :42:45.feeling 100% comfortable, perhaps. As we go to Matsuyama. What a golf

:42:46. > :42:54.swing he has. He has tugged it a little bit. It feeds right back down

:42:55. > :43:01.to the flat. That is a tricky two putt up the hill. We have seen

:43:02. > :43:05.hardly anybody reach the hole from there. Dustin Johnson to clean this

:43:06. > :43:13.up for par and get into the clubhouse at even par, four shots

:43:14. > :43:17.back. Everybody knows his potential, he is great. He has a lot to

:43:18. > :43:21.overcome if he is going to grab the lead at any point tomorrow, it could

:43:22. > :43:25.become excruciating for him because of what happened at the US Open,

:43:26. > :43:37.Doctor compartmentalised those sort of things. Rory, now. Sits up nicely

:43:38. > :43:42.for his draw. Is it coming? -- got to compartmentalised. It shoots

:43:43. > :43:48.forward as it bounces, the perfect flight but it has trickled into the

:43:49. > :43:56.light rough, but OK, great angle into that green. He blasted down

:43:57. > :44:04.there. May be a sand wedge. This is a Burnley birdie opportunity. Let's

:44:05. > :44:09.see if Bryson DeChambeau can improve on yesterday's effort. Yes, he has.

:44:10. > :44:17.The goal was to keep it short of the bunkers. Oh boy, that's the Sandy

:44:18. > :44:25.Lyle bunker. Shane Lowry at 6-over. A few Irish

:44:26. > :44:36.fans out there cheering him on. That's OK there.

:44:37. > :44:39.STUDIO: So what of the world number one Jason Day? He's had second place

:44:40. > :44:44.and third place at the Masters, and that round of 71 today is his first

:44:45. > :44:48.under par for the week, leaving him for the moment some four shots

:44:49. > :44:52.behind Jordan Spieth. Let's hear from the man who's been on a hot

:44:53. > :44:55.streak of form coming here to Augusta.

:44:56. > :44:58.Jason, there were moments today when it looked as if you are close to

:44:59. > :45:04.some of your best golf, would that be fair? I would say so.

:45:05. > :45:09.It is not quite as tight as it has been. But, you know, sometimes it

:45:10. > :45:16.isn't and you've got to get the job done somehow. Fortunately for me, to

:45:17. > :45:20.get it back to even par today was a good score. I was very pleased with

:45:21. > :45:24.grinding it out and getting in the clubhouse with the score eyeshot

:45:25. > :45:28.today. Having had a look at the leaderboard

:45:29. > :45:30.and knowing where certain people are, what do you think your chances

:45:31. > :45:36.are come Sunday? It depends on where the other guys

:45:37. > :45:41.are at the end of the day. That will determine what I will have to do

:45:42. > :45:47.tomorrow. The pin locations, how firm the greens are, how fast they

:45:48. > :45:51.are, also determines if I can force things or not. I know that I don't

:45:52. > :45:54.really like to force things, I like to be patient with myself and try

:45:55. > :46:01.and gather momentum through patients. So we will see how it

:46:02. > :46:05.goes. It is to finish out there -- patience. The wind will die down

:46:06. > :46:09.more than today so that should open up scoring opportunities for the

:46:10. > :46:10.guys later in the day. We wish you the best of luck tomorrow. Thank

:46:11. > :46:17.you. COMMENTATOR: Snedeker. Third shot at

:46:18. > :46:35.15. That is another one that is safety

:46:36. > :46:38.first. Into the wind, they know it could land pin high and spin all the

:46:39. > :46:44.way back into the water. Sometimes safety is a good thing, if you play

:46:45. > :46:48.snooker you play a safety shot and get yourself into position and not

:46:49. > :46:53.be over aggressive. Especially when you play like he does. That has come

:46:54. > :47:01.up way short from down at the bottom.

:47:02. > :47:15.The pin is on a little ledge. I like this club. I do too. It is critical

:47:16. > :47:25.that the ball flies over the false front here.

:47:26. > :47:33.He wants the cover number, that's the key number. He wants to land

:47:34. > :47:38.this about where the pine tree is leaning into the picture. Coming out

:47:39. > :47:43.of the light rough might help because you wanted to release, land

:47:44. > :47:48.eight yards to the left of the pin and then it checks around. If you

:47:49. > :48:01.get it right it gathers to the hole side. Long is better than short.

:48:02. > :48:15.Watch it, watch it. This is going to be nice, Ken. It is going to be very

:48:16. > :48:21.nice. A little unlucky, hit a bit of fluff on the green, don't know if it

:48:22. > :48:32.is from a pine tree, but he couldn't have played it any better. There are

:48:33. > :48:45.no bunkers on this hole, it is not a copy of the seventh at St Andrews.

:48:46. > :49:00.It's OK. Huge putt for Matsuyama. That is two

:49:01. > :49:10.in a row he has missed left, two shorties in a row. It becomes a

:49:11. > :49:20.mental battle with those little Rascals. Danny is in a terribly

:49:21. > :49:24.tricky spot here. He struck it nicely but it just trickles down the

:49:25. > :49:26.slope. If he pitched it on the back it would come back to his feet, so

:49:27. > :49:38.OK. Now he is on the back ledge. Because

:49:39. > :49:41.you are hitting up to the green can breeze if it goes on to the back

:49:42. > :49:45.ledge it skids forwards because it is coming a bit flat. Very awkward

:49:46. > :49:50.from there. STUDIO: Things continue to move in

:49:51. > :49:55.the third round of the 80th playing of the Masters, right now only four

:49:56. > :49:59.men under par. We started the day 7-under par and it has become very

:50:00. > :50:04.chock-a-block there. Jordan Spieth clinging on, started at four under,

:50:05. > :50:09.remaining there. Smylie Kaufman has made the best progress of anyone

:50:10. > :50:12.today picking up three shots, Hideki Matsuyama as we have seen, a few

:50:13. > :50:16.frailties with the putter and Bernhard Langer is still in there

:50:17. > :50:21.with the round of 70 today. What a history he has had at the Masters.

:50:22. > :50:28.He played his first ever Masters in 82, 85 he won his first. In 1993 he

:50:29. > :50:34.wins his second Masters and he's given that jacket. Ben Crenshaw, his

:50:35. > :50:39.second one in 1993, in April, and a few months later Jordan Spieth was

:50:40. > :50:44.born. That is how long he has been around.

:50:45. > :51:02.COMMENTATOR: Matsuyama. 17th tee, trying to drill it through the pine

:51:03. > :51:06.trees. A little left. Tee-shots are always more difficult if you miss a

:51:07. > :51:16.couple of short putts. That is a beauty. Just off the fairway. That

:51:17. > :51:22.might make a bit of a difference. Take a wonder of the 17th, 440 yards

:51:23. > :51:26.Ike's Tree used to be in this area, the great big pine tree that used to

:51:27. > :51:30.get in the way but it got blown away in the storms a couple of years ago.

:51:31. > :51:34.Quite a straight hole. This fairway was 60 yards wide when I first came

:51:35. > :51:39.here and they have tweaked it into 30, quite narrow command added the

:51:40. > :51:44.pines on the right, a fraction up the hill, on cited when it is on the

:51:45. > :51:54.right-hand side, and wind swirls around, clubs selection is never

:51:55. > :51:57.easy. -- on cited. Bryson DeChambeau's third shot at 18,

:51:58. > :52:05.Dustin Johnson just played a wonderful shot from here. He raked

:52:06. > :52:11.the bunker well. Way up there. That was pretty brave. Once you have got

:52:12. > :52:15.your lob wedge with a 37 and a half inch shaft those shots are not as

:52:16. > :52:22.easy, all of these irons are the same length, so his short irons are

:52:23. > :52:28.very long. Come on Connery, give us something to cheer about and

:52:29. > :52:29.yourself. A good break with his second, Noghes it in, down the

:52:30. > :52:47.slope. -- nudge it in. One of those

:52:48. > :52:54.snapping turtles making a move for the Sunshine. That is not a snapper.

:52:55. > :53:02.It looks pretty mean to me. That is to shake turtle -- touche turtle.

:53:03. > :53:16.CHUCKLES Of all the players on Tour I would

:53:17. > :53:20.love to have this guy with a microphone. I always felt it would

:53:21. > :53:28.be great if players would agree to wear heart rate monitors. Equally

:53:29. > :53:31.good if somebody like Jordan wore a microphone. I think he's worried

:53:32. > :53:37.because the ball is on a slope and that it might trickle away. You can

:53:38. > :53:41.only just place it, you are not allowed to push it down into the

:53:42. > :53:47.ground or anything like that, you can only place the ball. If you

:53:48. > :53:51.think that you have to be careful here about grounding your putter

:53:52. > :53:57.with his once you do you will be deemed to have been the one to cause

:53:58. > :54:07.it to move. This is very quick, with left to right swing. He's been

:54:08. > :54:11.deadly on these today. And yet another, opened up a three shot lead

:54:12. > :54:23.over Smylie Kaufman and Hideki Matsuyama. He has really righted the

:54:24. > :54:28.ship after the double bogey on 11. I can't tell you how difficult this

:54:29. > :54:31.shot is. The fringe facing him, the grass growing into him and when he

:54:32. > :54:41.hits the green it is all downhill, but if there is a man to do it this

:54:42. > :54:43.is the man. Landed twice on the fringe and that is down where the

:54:44. > :54:59.flag will be tomorrow. It would only have taken two more

:55:00. > :55:07.rolls to go off the green and down the slope.

:55:08. > :55:27.The wind is at him. Will it stay? No that is long. Too bad, the shelf is

:55:28. > :55:30.only about six or seven yards wide there. It is a tall order even with

:55:31. > :55:52.an 8-iron. From the lower tier, and it is quite

:55:53. > :55:58.steep, the putter at the 18th. Keep running, keep running. Good

:55:59. > :56:03.effortful stop the pin is on 30 from the front of the Green so that was

:56:04. > :56:09.the best part of 80 feet. -- good effort.

:56:10. > :56:20.This will be a great experience from Shane Lowry and one he will take

:56:21. > :56:25.with him now. Scott Piercy. It is so difficult to get any kind of wood to

:56:26. > :56:30.stop on this green. You can tell by his setup he's got to play a cut.

:56:31. > :56:42.That is definitely a cut swing, there is no left in that. Yes, there

:56:43. > :56:49.it goes. Good luck on that one. That will require all you have got for

:56:50. > :56:55.touch, go to have a good lie. If it feet by you are in the water. Back

:56:56. > :57:07.on the tee, Jordan Spieth, the leader, going with the driver.

:57:08. > :57:12.Two massive hits to reach the green in two so I suspect he will lay up

:57:13. > :57:27.again. He might be hooked slightly by the

:57:28. > :57:35.pine tree here. Straight downwind, must clear the bunker. He hits moon

:57:36. > :57:45.shots, and he has won for the moon here. Is it right? I don't know. It

:57:46. > :57:52.might still be climbing. I don't know. Rory?

:57:53. > :58:06.This will be the full blast. A little bit of drawing. Don't overdo

:58:07. > :58:20.it, he has parked himself behind a clump of trees, I think.

:58:21. > :58:28.Augusta is like no other golf course. When you play well at this

:58:29. > :58:33.golf tournament it carries with you. That is a rough start in heavy

:58:34. > :58:38.windfall Shane Lowry. It just never happened for him today. Only one

:58:39. > :58:43.birdie. I believe he will carry some confidence out of this week.

:58:44. > :58:50.DeChambeau missed his par putt and he just three putted from five feet

:58:51. > :59:00.and this hole has eaten his lunch, 5-over the last two days here at 18.

:59:01. > :59:06.72, 72, 77 today, a most impressive player, keep your eyes on this

:59:07. > :59:20.fellow, Bryson looks to be the real deal.

:59:21. > :59:31.He's had a few blips over the years, his last four masters and on each

:59:32. > :59:38.day he's had a poor score. Even last year when he finished well up he had

:59:39. > :59:47.nine holes of 40. He's played a lot of marvellous golf, Rory, but the

:59:48. > :59:56.occasional bad nine holes. Hideki. That is the most ugly spot. Slope

:59:57. > :59:59.coming into him, grain into him, top of the hill, the green runs away

:00:00. > :00:04.from him, where will you landed? Are you going to run it? You cannot fly

:00:05. > :00:10.it all the way. He's looking at the turf to see if he could pitch it in,

:00:11. > :00:13.he could go with a 3-iron, a 3-wood, this is so difficult. It may be a

:00:14. > :00:20.shot he hasn't practised because you don't expect to be over here. Scott

:00:21. > :00:24.Piercy, after hitting a terrific second, but going over the green.

:00:25. > :00:33.This is so delicate. It skidded off the collar. Settle, settle. Easy. I

:00:34. > :00:44.think that is water. Settle. That has gone. That is exactly what I was

:00:45. > :00:51.referring to. Now he has got to go back on the other side of the pond

:00:52. > :00:58.and pitch back across it. Things can turn on a dime here. Goodness.

:00:59. > :01:06.Fyfield the key here is just to make sure you get it up over that slope.

:01:07. > :01:11.You don't want it coming back to where you are now. You've got to

:01:12. > :01:17.take your medicine. We say at home, take your beating like a man. It's

:01:18. > :01:25.very tricky, even if you play a good shot, it's so easy for it to come

:01:26. > :01:34.back to you all ago 30 feet by. Try and get cute and you will be on half

:01:35. > :01:41.a dozen here. Look at this. No, you cannot! What a terrific effort,

:01:42. > :01:49.there. Opportunity to save par for Hideki Matsuyama. You see, it has

:01:50. > :01:53.run off just a bit more than it looked from that other angle. He has

:01:54. > :01:59.still got a good 15 feet. Danny Willett up the hill. Five shots off

:02:00. > :02:14.the pace. A birdie would go a long way here. That is a good shot. He

:02:15. > :02:18.gets to putt right up the hill. Pretty straight putt, he will be

:02:19. > :02:29.pretty happy when he sees that. Jordan Spieth now with a layup all

:02:30. > :02:34.the way. He's using his very saucy way of playing these par fives, and

:02:35. > :02:40.why not? He's had a difficult time in the worst of the weather. A lot

:02:41. > :02:47.of players have got within touching distance. There's only one day and a

:02:48. > :02:53.few holes left. The results of that second shot from Danny Willett. We

:02:54. > :03:01.saw this birdie putt. Can he finish? With a birdie?

:03:02. > :03:21.In it goes and that is a level par round of 72, very good round for

:03:22. > :03:28.Danny Willett. Just five behind. Needs a couple of birdies -- a

:03:29. > :03:33.couple of birdies on six and seven. A mixture on the way back in. Two

:03:34. > :03:40.birdies and two bogeys. But a very tidy round. Well, there is an old

:03:41. > :03:44.song called when you come to the end of a perfect day, and this has not

:03:45. > :03:49.been a perfect day. In someways I guess it has for some, but for these

:03:50. > :03:55.golfers it's been a very, very trying day. And I don't think

:03:56. > :04:02.tomorrow will be all that much easier. Maybe a little wind, but the

:04:03. > :04:04.flag positions and the speed of the greens, the anticipation and the

:04:05. > :04:29.nerves all play their part. Now then, up and left to right. Oh!

:04:30. > :04:34.It went the other way. A pity there, he has stumbled a bit in the last

:04:35. > :04:38.four or five holes. He was going along so nicely. Suddenly may

:04:39. > :04:45.pressure or nerves got to him a bit in the last few holes. Struggled at

:04:46. > :04:51.the 15th, did not get a birdie there or at the 15th. Still a four at the

:04:52. > :04:59.last, and that is no easy task, four at the last hole now. Spieth is

:05:00. > :05:10.still three shots clear of his nearest challenger, who is now

:05:11. > :05:14.Smylie Kaufman. Bernard -- Bernhard Langer on 1-under. Lee Westwood

:05:15. > :05:19.finished some time ago with that 71, which at the time was the joint best

:05:20. > :05:23.round of the day but conditions have dampened out now and the wind has

:05:24. > :05:30.cropped as was forecast, so a chance for those finishing towards the end.

:05:31. > :05:42.Scott Piercy, after he skidded towards the water. This for it's

:05:43. > :05:46.come the same distance back. Not done yet.

:05:47. > :05:55.Scott Piercy in all sorts of misery at the 15th. It will be a long wait

:05:56. > :06:02.for the group behind, which is Spieth and McIlroy, watching all

:06:03. > :06:06.this fun. He was a couple of feet away with his pitch, Piercy, from

:06:07. > :06:16.over the back of the green, from being not too bad at all. But it is

:06:17. > :06:24.an eight. That has put him back. Dropped shots at ten and 11, and

:06:25. > :06:37.three dropped shots at the 15th. So, third shot for Spieth.

:06:38. > :07:04.He was saying a 15... You see the slope there, you don't want to be

:07:05. > :07:15.short. Yes, good result. Excellent result. I think it was Zach Johnson

:07:16. > :07:25.when he won here who laid up at all the par fives. When Langer won, he

:07:26. > :07:33.got terrible pelt is for laying up. I can't understand that, but there

:07:34. > :07:38.we are. Come on, Rory. Let's have a bit of sparkle to go to bed with.

:07:39. > :07:54.That's better. His swing has been a bit laboured

:07:55. > :07:56.today. Don't ask me why. Ms, apprehension? Whatever. It just has

:07:57. > :08:18.not been there. Calm conditions forecast tomorrow.

:08:19. > :08:25.But this has been a lot of chasing for McIlroy. Spieth in control now.

:08:26. > :08:36.Very focused, no waving to the crowd, eyes straight ahead. Not the

:08:37. > :08:49.gladiatorial battle we thought it would be today, by any means. Do you

:08:50. > :08:57.remember 1990, the open at St Andrews? Jack Nicklaus,

:08:58. > :08:59.back-to-back. He has done it. He was the first. Nick Faldo in 89 and 90

:09:00. > :09:19.and then Woods after that. Not many, and some greats of the

:09:20. > :09:25.game. His record here is quite ridiculous. On course at the moment

:09:26. > :09:29.for first place again but still a long way to go. The 18th tee,

:09:30. > :10:02.Matsuyama. You have to be aware of all the

:10:03. > :10:08.things going on around you here as well. Danny Lee and Scott Piercy. We

:10:09. > :10:19.haven't seen much of Danny Lee, he is back to 3-over. Giant pine trees

:10:20. > :10:22.stretching saddos across the green for McIlroy. One of these has to

:10:23. > :10:42.drop. He has read the greens so badly

:10:43. > :10:46.today, he really has. I was thinking, remember when Charl

:10:47. > :10:51.Schwartzel won here? He finished with four birdies. But he's miles

:10:52. > :11:00.today, he's just out of kilter today. Of course, the worse he

:11:01. > :11:06.plays, the more confidence it in stills in Spieth. He can't wait for

:11:07. > :11:20.the end of this round. The way Spieth has been putting, I

:11:21. > :11:32.wouldn't bet against him holing this one.

:11:33. > :11:51.Well, it's a similar comparison with how McIlroy fared.

:11:52. > :12:02.CHEERING In she goes. Beautiful touch, pace,

:12:03. > :12:07.judgment and speed. Birdie. In terms of dealing with these greens, it's

:12:08. > :12:13.an exhibition. He loves the challenge of these greens, how hard

:12:14. > :12:20.they are, how fast they run, the brakes on the slopes. It's

:12:21. > :12:29.remarkable. And he is now four shots clear. He just touched it. You've

:12:30. > :12:38.got to get the line, the speed, the judgment. The judgment was perfect.

:12:39. > :12:44.A big swing, 12, 14 inches. It just eases its way into the hole.

:12:45. > :12:58.Beautiful judgment. I don't know why they're going in! But they are.

:12:59. > :13:13.Well, I guess Rory McIlroy must have holed his, but but our host

:13:14. > :13:19.broadcaster missed it. Now, Snedeker. A bit of a bobble,

:13:20. > :13:49.there. Stays 1-over, Brandt Snedeker. We

:13:50. > :14:00.are seeing Rory pop it in, that's good. But it's only a par. Another

:14:01. > :14:03.shot behind Spieth. Look at that. Started with a 1-shot lead. Four in

:14:04. > :14:14.front now. Ben Hogan was the defending champion

:14:15. > :14:29.after he had a marvellous 1953, came in in 1954 and held the outright

:14:30. > :14:34.lead, but couldn't win that year. Looking down the 18th and now

:14:35. > :14:38.looking up. You get some idea of the slope here. You can't see the green

:14:39. > :14:43.at all, it's hidden away. Those big towers behind the green are where

:14:44. > :14:50.CBS, the television boys cooperate from. They like to be out on the

:14:51. > :14:58.course. Those are permanent fixtures, they drop them down or

:14:59. > :15:01.dismantle them, they disappear into the ground, they do something with

:15:02. > :15:10.them, and then they just pop up like mushrooms.

:15:11. > :15:23.He has kept his rhythm going. But a little ungainly. The right shoulder

:15:24. > :15:31.riding up and a bit of a heave. Let's see how he does here. Well,

:15:32. > :15:45.that was a little better, but a bit violent. Excellent result, if it

:15:46. > :15:50.stops. And it does. Coming down wind and trying to hit it as hard as he

:15:51. > :16:02.could and see if he gets any stop on it. That is a good effort.

:16:03. > :16:15.Matsuyama, fifth last year. Nakajima was inside the top ten one-year.

:16:16. > :16:21.Back to the shadows of the 16th. Back to the bad stuff for the first

:16:22. > :16:26.few holes. He needs a bounce down and he gets it. Just about where

:16:27. > :16:32.Jason Day was. Difficult to judge the pace, coming down from there.

:16:33. > :16:43.That was a very nervy one, wasn't it? Wasn't good at all. But he is

:16:44. > :16:48.four ahead. Here is Rory, now. He has had a bit of encouragement at

:16:49. > :16:58.times but he hasn't taken advantage of it. Steady. I can't believe it.

:16:59. > :17:03.That is the way his day has gone. That was within a foot of being good

:17:04. > :17:10.and now it is down there. A day to forget, not a day to remember.

:17:11. > :17:17.Well, it has certainly been a day to forget for Rory McIlroy, because

:17:18. > :17:20.this man, Danny Willett, has overtaken him as the top player from

:17:21. > :17:26.a home perspective, the United Kingdom. Danny from Sheffield, the

:17:27. > :17:30.world number 12, also level par for the tournament after that round of

:17:31. > :17:34.72 today. Currently in a tie for fifth. Four birdies and four bogeys

:17:35. > :17:41.on the way. I wonder how he will reflect on his day's work. Four

:17:42. > :17:49.birdies, four bogeys, how much were you tested today? I played related

:17:50. > :17:53.golf but didn't convert a few chances. The wind was here, there

:17:54. > :17:58.and everywhere at times. A couple of silly mistakes from the middle of

:17:59. > :18:02.the fairways. But 72 again, it's a good score out there. It's tricky,

:18:03. > :18:06.the wind is swirling and the greens are firming up and getting fast. It

:18:07. > :18:10.would be nice to peg one or two more. How are you feeling about your

:18:11. > :18:15.chances of perhaps winning this tomorrow. It's going to need a low

:18:16. > :18:19.one. You're looking at the numbers today and the forecast is supposed

:18:20. > :18:23.to be better tomorrow and you're looking at I would have said six or

:18:24. > :18:27.seven, potentially. If it is that, you're going to have to shoot a

:18:28. > :18:31.pretty special round on Sunday at Augusta. But we are in there with a

:18:32. > :18:34.chance, we're up there competing. We will just have to see what it

:18:35. > :18:39.brings. We wish you the best of luck. Thank you.

:18:40. > :18:48.Not such a good day for this man. Talking about the order around he

:18:49. > :18:56.has had in Masters years where he has blown himself out of contention.

:18:57. > :19:01.In 2012, 69 in the first two rounds and the following year, 72, 70 and

:19:02. > :19:07.then a 79 in the third round. Looking at the youngest two-time

:19:08. > :19:15.champions, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Seve, and Horton Smith. My

:19:16. > :19:26.father played him in the Ryder Cup in about 1937, I think. And the

:19:27. > :19:33.result? I'm too modest to say, but I think father won. They go through

:19:34. > :19:37.practice rounds and they practice a lot of putts from down here because

:19:38. > :19:40.they know you don't have to be off by too much and they know the pain

:19:41. > :19:44.is going to be there on one of the two days, usually the Saturday. It's

:19:45. > :19:52.still a marvellous scene when the sun filters through the -- filters

:19:53. > :19:59.through and the shadows get longer. Rory is a long way. This is so slow

:20:00. > :20:06.up here. When you're conscious it's so slow, it's very easy to knock it

:20:07. > :20:12.five or six feet past. If he gets down in two from here, that's almost

:20:13. > :20:13.like a birdie. He must be further away than Spieth but he played

:20:14. > :20:28.first. Come along. Come along... Not bad,

:20:29. > :20:50.not bad at all. What Jordan Spieth has got there,

:20:51. > :20:58.this is difficult. It's immensely difficult. He has got no bunker to

:20:59. > :21:04.content with, but it's just a question of hitting the speed. This

:21:05. > :21:08.is one that if you were just fooling about, you might putt it, but he has

:21:09. > :21:12.taking something very lofted, he's just going to pitch it short of the

:21:13. > :21:18.green and hope for the best. And it's come off. Well, it stuck. Very

:21:19. > :21:21.tricky to get it right. The way he has been putting, that should hold

:21:22. > :21:42.no great fears. . It's a gimme. Well, they've now been out for four

:21:43. > :21:48.hours in a two ball with really nobody in the way, no spectators to

:21:49. > :21:57.avoid. Very slow going. They've still got three to play, so another

:21:58. > :22:01.40 minutes. And there will be talk and there will be this and that, but

:22:02. > :22:06.nobody does anything. The players are the ones that will do it. If

:22:07. > :22:12.they suddenly decide to get a move on, save a minute each on every

:22:13. > :22:25.hole, that would save a lot of golf's problems.

:22:26. > :22:45.We can go to the final green and Hideki Matsuyama.

:22:46. > :22:54.Not to be, so Matsuyama will settle for a par on the last and shoot a

:22:55. > :22:58.level par round of 72. That is a good score. He's missed a few

:22:59. > :23:03.chances. He's kept himself going well with a round of 35.

:23:04. > :23:09.-- is a back nine of 35. He had other chances he was not able to

:23:10. > :23:26.take. Spieth now. Oh! Well, just the pace that saved

:23:27. > :23:31.him but another aggro stroke drops for Jordan Spieth and he maintains

:23:32. > :23:36.that gulf between himself and Smylie Kaufman. 6-under, Jordan Spieth.

:23:37. > :23:44.These last few holes, the ground he has made... Really has become quite

:23:45. > :23:47.a gentle evening out there, now that that wind has gone. Rory finishing

:23:48. > :24:02.off. That is the three. APPLAUSE

:24:03. > :24:09.Just a couple of holes left. They both might have dropped shots there,

:24:10. > :24:15.but they both got their par-3s. Just look at this, the pace. Going there.

:24:16. > :24:20.A bit faster and that would have gone by the edge, but it didn't.

:24:21. > :24:31.Perfect speed and the result is a three. Now to the 17th tee. Just

:24:32. > :24:38.going to try and work out when Rory McIlroy's last birdie free round at

:24:39. > :24:43.Augusta was. When I say work-out, I'm hoping that I say it and

:24:44. > :24:50.somebody sends me the details... I'll find out! Without a birdie in

:24:51. > :24:55.this final round. The 17th different without the Eisenhower tree. It

:24:56. > :24:59.looks entirely different and it's a much easier drive really, because

:25:00. > :25:03.that tree had grown quite high and if you were not able to miss it on

:25:04. > :25:24.the right, many players battered into it. -- clattered into it.

:25:25. > :25:38.Fore! Well, he's pushed a few today, hasn't he? Hit the tree and came

:25:39. > :25:42.backwards. Hit the tree and came backwards, up towards the 15th

:25:43. > :25:49.fairway. "Why Do I do that? Don't tell

:25:50. > :25:57.Justin Rose did that a few years ago. You can drive loosely at

:25:58. > :26:05.Augusta but you cannot putt loosely. He has driven loose on occasion but

:26:06. > :26:09.he has parted well. You can get away with some errant stuff at Augusta.

:26:10. > :26:14.Big wide fairways will stop oh, you can. Apart from the ponds, there's

:26:15. > :26:17.not really any rough. It is still Augusta.

:26:18. > :26:24.STUDIO It sure is. Smylie Kaufman has

:26:25. > :26:28.certainly mastered it today with that back nine. A rare around in the

:26:29. > :26:32.60s. Only the second major Championship he has ever played in

:26:33. > :26:36.and he's looking likely to accompany Jordan Spieth in the final pairing

:26:37. > :26:44.in the final round. Let's hear from Smylie. There he is. Everyone says

:26:45. > :26:49.that every round you play at Augusta you learn something. What have you

:26:50. > :26:52.learned over the last three days? Just to stay patient. The conditions

:26:53. > :26:59.call for you to stay patient out there. It is my first Masters. I

:27:00. > :27:03.played on the course in the weeks before the event and set up a ready

:27:04. > :27:06.good game plan. I've just been trying to hit some certain spots and

:27:07. > :27:11.try and give myself as many looks for birdies as I could. I knew that

:27:12. > :27:15.par was a relief that score and so far it has worked really well.

:27:16. > :27:19.Someone tells you you are in your first Masters and you have a sniff

:27:20. > :27:24.of the lead, what would you say to them? I wouldn't be too surprised, I

:27:25. > :27:29.like to think my ability is there that I can compete with the best.

:27:30. > :27:33.This year has been a big Rumford and is booster for me, competing with

:27:34. > :27:36.these big names every week. Try and keep it going into tomorrow and see

:27:37. > :27:47.what happens. Wish you the best of luck. Appreciate it. Smylie's

:27:48. > :27:54.grandfather was golf coach at the University of Alabama. Isn't it good

:27:55. > :28:01.there are so many people playing professional golf at the high level

:28:02. > :28:08.and so many counties. Over 1500 golfers under the age of 16 or 17 in

:28:09. > :28:14.organised competitions, encouraging them to get into organised

:28:15. > :28:17.competition in golf. Here is the best youngster in the game. Jordan

:28:18. > :28:28.Spieth will be heading off to the 15th fairway. Give me five feet.

:28:29. > :28:34.What has he got to go through? He can squirt that through by the looks

:28:35. > :28:47.of it. No heavy rough, it's a huge bonus. The rest of the field just

:28:48. > :28:51.wants something from him, just a slip. Even though he has been fairly

:28:52. > :28:55.loose from the tee on occasion, he doesn't look like making a mistake

:28:56. > :29:02.on the greens. He can always salvage something with that wand. I thought

:29:03. > :29:06.he was very suspect on the first two or three holes. McIlroy couldn't put

:29:07. > :29:13.any pressure on him and didn't play well, and Spieth holed son great

:29:14. > :29:17.saving putts. And that was it. Now, he's going to try and come through

:29:18. > :29:21.there but he's going to try and get a bit of cut on it. He's going to

:29:22. > :29:34.try and get it by the green. There is a big bunker in front. You would

:29:35. > :29:38.say his chances of getting a four are not very high. But with his

:29:39. > :29:54.magic part, anything is possible. Well, they carry on with their

:29:55. > :30:00.deliberations. Michael Grella, a former teacher who took his bag when

:30:01. > :30:04.he was participating in a tournament in the north-west... He lives in the

:30:05. > :30:12.Chambers Bay area and landed the back of Jordan Spieth as a memento.

:30:13. > :30:18.Ingo. Pretty good job, well paid. Now, a pretty straightfaced iron. It

:30:19. > :30:22.could be a long chip for eight 4-iron, 5-iron, that sort of thing,

:30:23. > :30:27.aiming at those trees just beyond the top of his head and hoping to

:30:28. > :30:45.squirt it round, pitch up and hole the putt. Easy said, easy said.

:30:46. > :30:56.Cut it round. It looks pretty good. CHUCKLES

:30:57. > :31:02.Yes. A bit of spin on it as well. After the two shot, very good,

:31:03. > :31:05.Andrew, very good. STUDIO

:31:06. > :31:10.It certainly is. Time and time again he recovers and rescues his chances

:31:11. > :31:16.and many of these holes around Augusta. We are overrunning here but

:31:17. > :31:20.we're going to stay with live coverage of round three until the

:31:21. > :31:24.conclusion of play, until Jordan Spieth holed his final putt at the

:31:25. > :31:43.18th. That is our plan here, as the shadows lengthen. Quiet please.

:31:44. > :31:52.PETER ALLISS: We have not seen a shot holed for some time. Are we

:31:53. > :32:04.going to see a miracle? That is a good shot.

:32:05. > :32:09.ANDREW COTTER: Still a chance of a birdie-birdie finish, but I think

:32:10. > :32:14.his chances have gone in this year's Masters now. Too far behind. Having

:32:15. > :32:22.said that, he is capable of landing a few birdies early tomorrow.

:32:23. > :32:27.HAZEL IRVINE: Dustin Johnson has been an ever present at the sharp

:32:28. > :32:34.end of Majors in the last couple of years. And he shot a 72 today. Best

:32:35. > :32:41.here last year was tied sixth. He is top five right now. I wonder what he

:32:42. > :32:45.makes of his day's work. Dustin, in light of the wind and the

:32:46. > :32:49.conditions, how good a school was that today? I think it was a great

:32:50. > :32:53.score. It is very tough out there. The conditions are very difficult.

:32:54. > :32:59.The pin placements, the greens are running really fast. And it is very

:33:00. > :33:04.windy. So I was very pleased with even par. I felt like I played

:33:05. > :33:09.really solid all day. I had a lot of good looks at birdies, did not make

:33:10. > :33:20.any of them, but Riewoldt I hit good putts, just burning the edges. It is

:33:21. > :33:24.tough conditions out there. The weather conditions are set to

:33:25. > :33:28.improve tomorrow - could you go on the attack tomorrow on this course?

:33:29. > :33:34.Yes, in will depend on what hole it is, where the flag is. It does not

:33:35. > :33:37.matter if there is no wind, there is a lot of pin placements they can put

:33:38. > :33:44.out here that you still can't attack them. Tomorrow is going to be all

:33:45. > :33:52.about just putting myself in a position to have a chance.

:33:53. > :34:04.Back to the final pair. Spieth, third shot at the 17th. Our leader.

:34:05. > :34:07.He has struggled today, but he has struggled well. He has putted well,

:34:08. > :34:17.he has got out of jail time and time again. Judgment of speed, but she

:34:18. > :34:21.goes... Going to be well short. That was never going at the flag. And he

:34:22. > :34:32.has been rather lucky that it just sat down and has not rolled back.

:34:33. > :34:43.Not got an easy putt left. It is moments like this, Rory has had an

:34:44. > :34:51.opportunity, he would miss, and two shots would change hands. But

:34:52. > :35:00.McIlroy has had no such luck. Jordan Spieth is on top of the community of

:35:01. > :35:13.putting stats. 1.4 average per hole, tied with Larry Mize.

:35:14. > :35:33.Souza Roy, we have said it before, just trying to find one putt to

:35:34. > :35:38.drop. -- Souza Roy. Very interesting small leaderboard there. A couple of

:35:39. > :35:59.relatively unknown names. McIlroy, having one of those days.

:36:00. > :36:16.Disturbed. Has not had a birdie today. Oh, I thought that was in.

:36:17. > :36:34.That was white there, but managed to slip by. Only a par. If you are

:36:35. > :36:40.wanting the comparison, a lot more putt for McIlroy. Sometimes that has

:36:41. > :36:45.to be qualified, with Spieth perhaps missing a few more greens. But

:36:46. > :36:58.McIlroy really thought he had that one. A day he will remember for a

:36:59. > :37:00.long time. Well, maybe not too long. This man, well, this putt must be

:37:01. > :37:26.all of 7-8 yards. Once you go past the hole, if you

:37:27. > :37:44.have misjudged it at all, you can be six-eightft away in a flash.

:37:45. > :37:57.Well, that is a shot dropped. Caused by a poor tee shot. And he has got

:37:58. > :38:10.this formidable 18th coming up, who is no pushover, to get a four.

:38:11. > :38:18.HAZEL IRVINE: Spieth and Rory McIlroy heading for the last hole.

:38:19. > :38:25.We are staying with them until the end of play today. If you are

:38:26. > :38:32.wondering what has been going on, well, this man has dominated. He has

:38:33. > :38:39.been scrambling brilliantly, but he has recovered his composure and

:38:40. > :38:44.rescued his score with the putter time and time again, on so many

:38:45. > :38:49.occasions. It has been mightily impressive. He is heading for a

:38:50. > :38:58.seventh outright lead in a row here at The Masters, which would break

:38:59. > :39:19.yet another record. Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy on the tee.

:39:20. > :39:33.So, can he find a birdie on this final hole?

:39:34. > :39:44.Now, Spieth has hit a lot of tee shots to the right. I don't think he

:39:45. > :39:50.can reach it... There has only been two birdies at this final hole

:39:51. > :40:06.today. Just shows you how difficult it is.

:40:07. > :40:21.Oh, that is right, surely. Boy, he has driven badly today. That could

:40:22. > :40:24.be... That is a long way right. That is nearly at the 10th fairway, for

:40:25. > :40:29.goodness sake! HAZEL IRVINE: Jordan Spieth, way off

:40:30. > :40:33.from the team once again, but it does not seem to matter. He seems to

:40:34. > :40:37.get himself out of trouble every time. Just a reminder, Rory McIlory

:40:38. > :40:43.started one shot behind Jordan Spieth. So much anticipation. But

:40:44. > :40:52.when Spieth birdied the second, Rory was immediately under pressure. Here

:40:53. > :41:04.at the third, he would drop a shot. Now, at the 7th, putting problems.

:41:05. > :41:12.And he was falling away a bit now, with Jordan moving into an outright

:41:13. > :41:18.lead. Now, Rory has had problems at the 10th to before, most memorably

:41:19. > :41:21.in 2011, and he made life really difficult for himself here once

:41:22. > :41:27.again, and he would drop another shot. At the treacherous 11th, again

:41:28. > :41:35.he put himself right up against it from the off. He found the water and

:41:36. > :41:41.would make double bogey, five over for the round at this point. Another

:41:42. > :41:52.disappointing day at Augusta for the Grand Slam-seeking Rory.

:41:53. > :41:58.ANDREW COTTER: To say the least. Jordan Spieth has not hit a good

:41:59. > :42:02.drive here at the last. Only four players under par. I think Danny

:42:03. > :42:11.Willett will be playing with Lee Westwood tomorrow. The two leading

:42:12. > :42:22.in Richmond Loral will be together. -- the two leading Englishmen will

:42:23. > :42:26.be together. PETER ALLISS: That really was a

:42:27. > :42:31.stinker of a tee-shot. Well, he has hit so many. But time and time

:42:32. > :42:36.again, you can get away with it at Augusta. The great thing is, you can

:42:37. > :42:39.find your ball, if it has not gone in the water! There is plenty of

:42:40. > :42:48.spectators, and of course, there is no rough. It is just Pine Needles.

:42:49. > :42:52.You can scuttle it out somewhere. This course was rather designed for

:42:53. > :43:00.the likes of Seve, of course, who was occasionally wayward. He could

:43:01. > :43:18.get away with some wild stuff. This was for a closing par. He will

:43:19. > :43:24.finish on five over, Scott Piercy. And that is what he thinks of his

:43:25. > :43:36.round. Now, what faces our young maestro here? Move back, please!

:43:37. > :43:47.Shades of Cabrera. Is he going a go out the other fairway? Looks as if

:43:48. > :43:53.he may be thinking of that. I am just trying to get enough to

:43:54. > :44:03.get outside the tree. I don't think a punch out would be an option.

:44:04. > :44:20.Michael, the caddie, is looking at the 10th.

:44:21. > :44:33.I don't like that. I don't like that at all. We are running just a little

:44:34. > :44:43.bit late here. Our will follow this. This is the last pair out on the

:44:44. > :44:47.course. If he is trying to go between those big trees straight

:44:48. > :44:53.ahead, that is very risky. If he goes up right of this first tree, he

:44:54. > :44:58.has got a very difficult one across the green. He might pull off some

:44:59. > :45:10.miracle shot. I like this better than anything

:45:11. > :45:19.else. Here we go. Let's see where he is aiming. Oh, this is bold. Owing

:45:20. > :45:29.to try to squirt it between these trees. He has done it. He has got it

:45:30. > :45:34.out. Not bad, Andrew. Just rolling it out through the pine straw. I

:45:35. > :45:37.think his caddie did not like this shot, but he knew. He is the man who

:45:38. > :45:56.plays the shots, and very well executed.

:45:57. > :46:10.Wonderful drive from McIlroy. Get up to the back level. Get up to the

:46:11. > :46:14.back level, it does. Finally at the last hole a bit of McIlroy magic.

:46:15. > :46:22.More what we're used to. A rather rueful smile.

:46:23. > :46:30.We don't get much of able you are this bald bumbling along. It's only

:46:31. > :46:33.about a foot off the ground. It touches down about now but it's got

:46:34. > :46:40.enough momentum to scuttle it through. We get a look at the other

:46:41. > :46:44.end, there you go. It was a bit higher than I thought. It just

:46:45. > :46:56.scuttles through a bit and ends up not too bad. That's like a routine

:46:57. > :47:01.four. -- it looks like a routine four.

:47:02. > :47:14.APPLAUSE Well, he's going to get two walks

:47:15. > :47:47.onto the green. Two standing ovations. Just check where we are.

:47:48. > :47:53.Well, it's interesting, McIlroy with the birdie putt to come which would

:47:54. > :47:58.get him back to 1-over. After that dropped shot at the last for Spieth,

:47:59. > :48:03.if he were to drop one here he would be back down to four under, five

:48:04. > :48:10.clear of McIlroy. But of course it's not just McIlroy, Kaufmann,

:48:11. > :48:15.Matsuyama, Danny Willett, Lee Westwood. They would all be within

:48:16. > :48:20.slightly better striking distance if Jordan Spieth were to come unstuck.

:48:21. > :48:27.This calls for great judgment and a bit of luck. A long, gradual shelf

:48:28. > :48:33.up to the flag. Anything pitching by the flag is hid very firm and can go

:48:34. > :48:45.through the back. Then you're left with an awkward one, a very quick,

:48:46. > :48:55.racy little chip act down the green. -- back down the green. Fairly low,

:48:56. > :48:59.punchy one. Nowhere near. That's a poor shot. Probably the worst shot

:49:00. > :49:04.he's played all day. It was neither one thing nor the other. Lucky that

:49:05. > :49:15.it's stuck. That was looking rather like it

:49:16. > :49:19.might be a level par round for Jordan Spieth, and all of a sudden,

:49:20. > :49:32.two putts from there. That is a better score than his golf

:49:33. > :49:38.really told us, really. Because he played an awful lot of scruffy

:49:39. > :49:45.shots, but he has gone through, his nerves have held and he has parted

:49:46. > :49:55.well, his strategy has worked. Very impressive. -- putted well.

:49:56. > :50:02.Pay flag fluttering rather maudlin plea and again we stressed tomorrow

:50:03. > :50:08.is going to be calm and very cold in the morning, a touch of Frost. There

:50:09. > :50:13.will be Frost coming down in a minute, these boys are now four and

:50:14. > :50:25.a half hours since they struck off. Which, really, for a two ball, well,

:50:26. > :50:27.even though the wind was tricky, we keep on saying it but there we are.

:50:28. > :50:42.Absolutely ludicrous. Doors open here at seven o'clock in

:50:43. > :50:47.the morning and all the folks come in and scamper for position and the

:50:48. > :50:53.places locked up half an hour after the final putt is holed, so you

:50:54. > :50:55.don't have much time to linger. He has plenty of time to linger, this

:50:56. > :51:22.fellow, though. Anxious faces. They don't look much

:51:23. > :51:31.younger than Spieth! Now, will he reached the hole, I wonder? It comes

:51:32. > :51:42.a bit from the right. Give it a whack...

:51:43. > :51:52.Well, he miss read it. He has played some strange stuff today, hasn't he?

:51:53. > :52:04.CHUCKLES It's really... McIlroy holed 's and

:52:05. > :52:07.he misses. I don't know... This great match has been a bit of a damp

:52:08. > :52:25.squib. McIlroy has suddenly got a bit of a

:52:26. > :52:29.glint in his eye. One hopes so, but this is not an easy putt. There are

:52:30. > :52:33.so many on this green, you think, they must come from the right, but

:52:34. > :52:38.if you watch them over the years they do the opposite. If memory

:52:39. > :52:42.serves me, there's not a lot of movement in this one. So, here we

:52:43. > :52:47.are, for his first birdie of the day.

:52:48. > :53:01.GROANS FROM CROWD No. No, no, no, no. So, birdie free.

:53:02. > :53:08.You have to say, that wasn't even close. And there is still a tough

:53:09. > :53:13.one to go. We talked about it, the first time since 2010, the second

:53:14. > :53:21.time of the Open at St Andrews, the first time he has gone without a

:53:22. > :53:29.birdie at a major in a round. He has two faced the press. Rishi, if he is

:53:30. > :53:33.allowed to get in there. Rishi will ask him some stunning questions.

:53:34. > :53:40."What Went wrong with you today then?" What time does it get dark?

:53:41. > :53:47.We've got half an hour, so we all right...

:53:48. > :54:00.Now, can he do it again? Can he hole yet another one?

:54:01. > :54:12.No! What a miserable six. What a way to go to supper. Well, nobody saw

:54:13. > :54:17.that coming. Jordan Spieth started this round with a 1-shot lead and he

:54:18. > :54:21.will finish it with a 1-shot lead. Started just in front of Rory

:54:22. > :54:37.McIlroy and he finishes just in front of Smylie Kaufman. But he will

:54:38. > :54:42.lead. Just waiting for McIlroy to hopefully pop this in. There you go,

:54:43. > :54:48.well done. A tired effort. Glad it's over. He needs to look at the

:54:49. > :54:52.positives, you would say, Rory McIlroy. Even with that fairly

:54:53. > :54:58.wretched around committee is only five behind. A lot of players are

:54:59. > :55:02.fairly close to Jordan Spieth. Spieth, the defending champion,

:55:03. > :55:06.Leeds going into the final round. What a third-round we've seen. Yes,

:55:07. > :55:12.totally unexpected. We talked about the wind is holding up and it did,

:55:13. > :55:17.it wasn't easy, but it hasn't been a good day for high-class action on

:55:18. > :55:21.the golf course, playing wise. Speed of the greens, positions of the

:55:22. > :55:27.flags, that really caught them out more than anything. Bernhard Langer

:55:28. > :55:32.just a couple behind. Jason Day just three behind now. Danny Willett,

:55:33. > :55:35.three behind. Lee Westwood, four behind. A lot of players are back in

:55:36. > :55:46.this for tomorrow. STUDIO

:55:47. > :55:54.Yes, it has been a Jim old US third day here at the Masters -- eight

:55:55. > :56:03.tumultuous day. Bad news for Rory but as Andrew

:56:04. > :56:09.said, the good news is that he is still not that far away, with Jordan

:56:10. > :56:17.Spieth having doubled the last. There it is, Spieth 3-under par.

:56:18. > :56:21.Smylie Kaufman, with whom he has played junior golf before, but he

:56:22. > :56:25.will be in the final pairing at the Masters, in his first Masters

:56:26. > :56:30.indeed. Bernhard Langer is double the age of them all, in fact nearly

:56:31. > :56:35.trebled their age, 58 years of age. He is up there too, one of only four

:56:36. > :56:42.men under par. We saw the name of Jason Day going by earlier on and he

:56:43. > :56:47.too is so close, just three shots off at level par. Chris Woodhead his

:56:48. > :56:51.troubles today, as have so many others. Matthew Fitzpatrick the

:56:52. > :56:56.youngest professional in the field at 21 years of age and he has

:56:57. > :57:00.acquitted himself very well on the European Tour. Looking further down,

:57:01. > :57:06.Adam Scott just made the cut and he has had a 75 today, 7-over par.

:57:07. > :57:10.Patrick Reed came here with big ambitions too. Just further down,

:57:11. > :57:17.the name of Bubba Watson, 4-over par today in a 76, 10-over for the

:57:18. > :57:20.double Masters champion. Justin Thomas, we saw him struggling with

:57:21. > :57:26.the breeze at the 7th and the ball rolling past. Ian Poulter, and 82,

:57:27. > :57:30.his worst ever score I'm afraid around Augusta. A day of mixed

:57:31. > :57:34.fortunes out there and they lot of people have gone backwards. Jordan

:57:35. > :57:39.Spieth, however, for the seventh time in a row he has the outright

:57:40. > :57:42.lead here at the Masters and he is bidding to join Jack Nicklaus and

:57:43. > :57:47.Sir Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods as the only back-to-back winners at

:57:48. > :57:52.Augusta. We will be back early tomorrow and don't forget that the

:58:03. > :58:07.with live coverage of the all-important final round of the

:58:08. > :58:12.80th playing of the Masters. As we have seen, Rory McIlroy, he has had

:58:13. > :58:17.a tough day today, on the greens and elsewhere. But, well, it's Jordan

:58:18. > :58:22.Spieth. He seems to have some kind of hold over Augusta. Can he keep
