:00:54. > :01:04.shot of a champion. He has done it. Magic, Tiger Woods. He gets better

:01:04. > :01:08.

:01:08. > :01:18.and better. Look at that. Will you look at that. Champion golfer of

:01:18. > :01:19.

:01:19. > :01:24.the year, Seve Ballesteros. Yes, yes and yes. He likes the big stage.

:01:24. > :01:34.How do you like that? Seve Ballesteros is once again the

:01:34. > :01:37.

:01:37. > :01:46.champion. This hugely talented Australian. And he has it. And Tony

:01:46. > :01:52.Good morning. If Royal Lytham has to use Graeme McDowell's expression

:01:52. > :01:58.of the sleeping giant in Winters conditions, well, it is staring. On

:01:58. > :02:03.the final day of this 141st Championship. It is certainly a

:02:03. > :02:08.stiff breeze blowing from the coast. That will add a degree of

:02:08. > :02:12.difficulty to this already difficult golf course. It will

:02:12. > :02:22.racket up excitement levels and detention levels at the sharp end

:02:22. > :02:25.

:02:25. > :02:29.of the chase to land the clarets Day No. 3 and the weather has been

:02:29. > :02:37.largely for golf but took a while to get going. We can talk local. It

:02:37. > :02:43.was a miserable day for him, him, him and even him. Luke Donald is

:02:43. > :02:50.the leading Englishman and had the force Aveley in parts and is a long

:02:50. > :02:58.way away. Debunker 17th fairway has got the Blackpool Tower and animals

:02:58. > :03:05.named after commentators. Wayne Grady, Andrew Cotter, Nick Faldo...

:03:05. > :03:11.A big face is coming. Then it is. The if I touch anything in

:03:11. > :03:18.appropriately they will get me in a big headlock. Look at that. That is

:03:18. > :03:21.quite tough to do. Get these claw marks out. We had high hopes for

:03:21. > :03:30.Bubba Watson and he was swinging Bubba Watson and he was swinging

:03:30. > :03:34.like a warrior. Yes, indeed! He is coming! But after an early flourish,

:03:34. > :03:40.coming! But after an early flourish, a dirty double at the 15th. I can

:03:40. > :03:44.introduce you to some friends. Ricky, Ricky, Ricky, David and

:03:44. > :03:53.Ricky. In terms of the other people, Matt Kuchar is looking nice and

:03:53. > :03:58.Zach Johnson is looking tasty and we have got that other guy. We have

:03:59. > :04:08.got this about town with only one man. He continues to get around the

:04:08. > :04:13.links like a bloke that has been here before. Ominous. Have a good

:04:13. > :04:19.state. That is very nice of you, Graeme McDowell. There is checked

:04:19. > :04:25.trousers are working wonders. Could he be the winner by Monday? The man

:04:25. > :04:31.in Frank has topped the leaderboard. -- pink. It was not long before the

:04:31. > :04:36.nearest challenger moved centre- stage. Another one goes for

:04:36. > :04:45.Snedeker. Nerves of steel and Australian grit. He seems to have

:04:45. > :04:49.the lot. The Big Easy is swinging easy and Tiger Bay. And by the

:04:49. > :04:59.power of Gray's goal, Thorbjorn Olesen is in contention. It has

:04:59. > :05:03.

:05:03. > :05:07.been drama in the first few days. the reader has got a four-shot

:05:07. > :05:16.advantage it will stop -- for the 4th time the leader has got a four-

:05:17. > :05:24.shot advantage. Graeme McDowell is aiming to take the trophy back home,

:05:24. > :05:28.just as Darren Clarke did last year. So but Adam Scott is still

:05:28. > :05:33.harbouring hopes of being the winner. Tiger Woods has never won

:05:33. > :05:40.any of his previous 14 Majors when he has not been at the top on the

:05:40. > :05:47.last day. Seven Major winners are lurking including any house. They

:05:47. > :05:54.have been out since 7:10am and we have had some excitement. That

:05:54. > :06:01.approach is looking good. Very good. That was an eagle. That has taken

:06:01. > :06:07.him to 2-under par. 1 A of the par for the championships. He is loving

:06:07. > :06:14.be wonderful conditions this morning. He is not the only one.

:06:14. > :06:18.Andres Romero of Argentina. But look at his golf bag. We have got a

:06:18. > :06:24.certain gentleman behind him, Carlos Tevez. He has had a look

:06:24. > :06:28.around and has been gainfully employed by the golf player today.

:06:28. > :06:32.He has enjoyed his experience and not many people get a chance to do

:06:32. > :06:37.that. He has reached the heights of the game and this will be

:06:37. > :06:44.fascinating for him today. It is a lovely day in Lancashire but we

:06:44. > :06:49.have been told the wind will increase. Up to 20, even 30 mph

:06:49. > :06:53.after the leading pair head out at 2:30pm. That will dramatically

:06:53. > :07:00.change the character of this golf course. What a fascinating day we

:07:00. > :07:07.have ahead. I am sure you are looking forward to it as much as us.

:07:07. > :07:13.They have been out since 7:20am. These are the main challengers

:07:13. > :07:21.today. Mark Calcavecchia is doing his bit for the over-fifties. Louis

:07:21. > :07:27.Oosthuizen remembers what it is like in the last day. Then, Bubba

:07:27. > :07:33.Watson alongside Thomas Aiken. The FedEx Cup jackpot winner Bill Haas

:07:33. > :07:41.crept up the leaderboard yesterday it. Thorbjorn Olesen has impressed

:07:41. > :07:47.many of us with his fearless plate. Ernie Els and has Zach Johnson

:07:47. > :07:53.start six shots off the pace. Tiger Woods is in the penultimate group.

:07:53. > :07:58.As he is with Brandt Snedeker. At 2:30pm it is the call time for

:07:58. > :08:03.Graeme McDowell, also in the last pairing at the US Open. For Adam

:08:03. > :08:10.Scott this is a new experience in the last eight, his first time in

:08:10. > :08:15.any Major. More coverage on the red bus and. But we will enjoy chatting

:08:15. > :08:21.here about what is ahead in the next few hours with two gentleman,

:08:21. > :08:27.next few hours with two gentleman, Nick Faldo at and Peter Dawson. You

:08:27. > :08:32.are making your annual Sunday visit. Great to have you here. We were

:08:32. > :08:41.talking about the possibilities last night. Much depends on how you

:08:41. > :08:46.have set up a course today. At will you enable them to change in

:08:46. > :08:52.positions? What has been the strategy? It has acquitted itself

:08:52. > :08:57.very well in the first few days, this golf course. We are expecting

:08:57. > :09:03.more wind than we have had at any time. We have been careful with

:09:03. > :09:09.pacing the greens. We do not want them to be too fast. I would say

:09:09. > :09:14.that it is a little easier than yesterday, with De pins. But for

:09:14. > :09:23.the early players today, it is very exciting. I did not think we will

:09:23. > :09:27.see people bursting ahead of the pack. That is obviously of some

:09:27. > :09:34.comfort to Adam Scott. If we look at how he has acquitted himself,

:09:34. > :09:40.another solid ground and surely the title is going to be his? I would

:09:40. > :09:47.not say guaranteed but he has got a great shot. It will not be easy.

:09:47. > :09:56.Wind has picked up. We have got some really difficult courses which

:09:56. > :10:03.have really grown teeth. We have got a par-four at 90 yards. It is a

:10:03. > :10:11.different animal. That will get the leaders going and get your mind

:10:11. > :10:16.thinking and it will play a really important role. I am not 100 % sure

:10:16. > :10:25.about Adam Scott. He could run away with it. But he could have three

:10:25. > :10:32.bogeys. He might scare himself. Today that strategy is going to be

:10:32. > :10:38.important. He has got to hit solid shots and be sensible. This golf

:10:38. > :10:42.course is very difficult from the tee to be green. It is a wonderful

:10:42. > :10:45.leaderboard and if we look at the possibilities, how much more

:10:45. > :10:51.difficult will it be playing in terms of competitions with

:10:51. > :10:56.clubbing? It is a real shock to the system for many players that have

:10:56. > :11:02.not experienced these championships so far. It was very uncomfortable

:11:02. > :11:12.conditions for the first three days. Not like links golf. But it is

:11:12. > :11:15.drying out. They will be experiencing a lot of crosswind. It

:11:15. > :11:21.will really be the tee today because you cannot win the event at

:11:21. > :11:25.from the rough and you have got to find the greens. Adam Scott's

:11:25. > :11:31.driving has been astonishing. He has attacked the golf course but

:11:31. > :11:36.kept it on the short grass. remember Snedeker Seine in the

:11:36. > :11:40.first couple of rounds, let the wind glow and bring it on and

:11:40. > :11:48.somebody said, be careful what you wish for. Did you wish for tougher

:11:48. > :11:53.conditions? It is playing like proper links golf or. We had enough

:11:53. > :11:57.wind to make things interesting. You have got to stand up and keep

:11:57. > :12:04.still. I enjoyed it getting a little bit tougher because I felt

:12:04. > :12:12.that I could shake up my shots and hit the green. It works

:12:12. > :12:18.occasionally. So much to look forward to. It has been great at so

:12:18. > :12:23.many children have been inspired by what they have seen. Anybody under

:12:23. > :12:29.16 can come for free if accompanied by an adult. It is a policy you are

:12:29. > :12:35.passionate about. You have been in the same boat because you are

:12:35. > :12:43.desperate to get youngsters into the game. I have been associated

:12:43. > :12:49.for 16 years. We have been keen to do this from day one. I took a grip

:12:49. > :12:56.out here about eight years ago. We want to broaden the horizons in

:12:56. > :13:06.South America and down in Brazil. A couple of years back I have had two

:13:06. > :13:07.

:13:07. > :13:13.series finals just outside re- edited area. -- Rio de Janeiro. We

:13:13. > :13:19.like to take the winner's out. It is a bit of a Monday feeling. We

:13:19. > :13:24.are trying to grow the game of golf along with the authorities and the

:13:24. > :13:30.US PGA. We are on the same page and we are moving forward to the

:13:30. > :13:35.Olympics. That is a great shop window for the game of golf. We

:13:35. > :13:39.have been tried to do the best we can to expand that and give

:13:39. > :13:45.children an opportunity to experience something different. We

:13:45. > :13:50.throw them in the deep end. The winners from Asia will have a grand

:13:50. > :13:58.final in September and will get to experience golf in Europe and then

:13:58. > :14:02.we did the opposite and take the winners from Europe into Asia.

:14:02. > :14:08.Again, all part of the experience of playing golf and jumping up on

:14:08. > :14:11.an aeroplane and dealing with different environments. As you said

:14:11. > :14:17.yourself, we have got a small, intimate global event which will

:14:17. > :14:27.have a bearing on the development of the game coming up to a club

:14:27. > :15:02.

:15:02. > :15:10.It's coming very quickly. In four years' time, golf returns to the

:15:10. > :15:18.Olympic Games. Rio, 2016. How important will that be? What impact

:15:18. > :15:28.will it have, going from 26-28 sports? The driving sport -- the

:15:28. > :15:31.

:15:31. > :15:36.driving force for getting golf back into the game was up from people

:15:36. > :15:43.who love the game, saying, we can get the government to back golf

:15:43. > :15:49.again. We can see government interest in finance -- financing

:15:49. > :15:53.the game in India and Asia. There is the course looking? We have

:15:53. > :16:00.appointed the architect and the layout is finalised, ball and has

:16:00. > :16:04.been acquired. It is the responsibility of Rio de Janeiro

:16:04. > :16:08.and 2016. That is their responsibility, we should be

:16:08. > :16:12.breaking ground at the course in October. How does it fit in with

:16:13. > :16:18.the major Championship schedule? When we consider all the sport in

:16:18. > :16:23.the Olympics, there has been Abbey -- a debate about tennis, is it

:16:23. > :16:30.every tennis player stream, as it sit comfortably in the pantheon of

:16:30. > :16:33.great championships? I think we have passed that point. Originally,

:16:33. > :16:37.people thought golf should not be in the Games, it is not the

:16:37. > :16:42.pinnacle of that sport. I have been encouraged about the professional

:16:42. > :16:47.players' attitudes, both men and particularly women. When young

:16:47. > :16:51.people grow up with golf as an established Olympic sport, the may

:16:51. > :16:58.well look at the gold medal as part of golf as competitive landscape is

:16:58. > :17:01.very important. Roger Federer said that one of his greatest moments in

:17:01. > :17:08.sport was winning the doubles in Beijing. Would you have liked to

:17:08. > :17:13.play? Opportunity to win a gold medal? Absolutely. It is the

:17:13. > :17:17.pinnacle of global sport. Absolutely. I'm sure there are many

:17:17. > :17:22.young golfers watching and being inspired but what is to come in the

:17:22. > :17:27.Olympics. This is a course which has produced some of the greatest

:17:27. > :17:34.victories from the greatest names in the game. There was a man who

:17:34. > :17:38.loves these links. The one and only Seve Ballesteros. In fact, in the

:17:38. > :17:43.clubhouse earlier on this week, there was a wonderful tribute paid

:17:43. > :17:53.to Seve Ballesteros by the members as they unveiled a beautiful

:17:53. > :17:54.

:17:54. > :18:02.portrait of him. Isn't that lovely? An image of Seve that everyone will

:18:02. > :18:12.treasure. Seve Ballesteros, one would almost they can to play

:18:12. > :18:19.

:18:19. > :18:28.running and jumping. Her looks like he is in the parking lot. He is in

:18:28. > :18:31.the car park, right up against the cars here. That is it. I cannot

:18:31. > :18:41.believe I have won the tournament. I don't think I will sleep very

:18:41. > :18:43.

:18:43. > :18:52.well tonight, but I don't care. That was an astonishing shot.

:18:52. > :19:02.easy just to not give it enough. But that wouldn't be Ballesteros.

:19:02. > :19:03.

:19:03. > :19:13.In she goes. Seve is once more the champion. It is a pity I don't find

:19:13. > :19:15.

:19:15. > :19:22.many cars on the 16th fairway this Gone but not forgotten, certainly

:19:22. > :19:29.not by these gentlemen. They have walk from London a two of them

:19:29. > :19:38.carrying a golf bag. Well done, and I hope you have raised a lot of

:19:38. > :19:42.money for a worthy cause. Even the cameraman got a little taste. When

:19:42. > :19:48.you think back to his exploits, you saw it up close and personal didn't

:19:48. > :19:58.you? I was there. We played together in 1988. It was the first

:19:58. > :19:58.

:19:58. > :20:04.time we had a rain delay. With Seve Ballesteros's passing, we have been

:20:04. > :20:10.asked to live -- to relive that a lot. On the 7th hole, he was a

:20:10. > :20:15.great show. He could take a club out the back, a practice thing --

:20:15. > :20:25.practice swing under follow-through all in one motion. Eyesore Hay

:20:25. > :20:33.flying up in the air. I thought, what has he done? He said, the ball

:20:33. > :20:42.is lying not very good. I said, I don't care. You just won the Open!

:20:42. > :20:46.He said, it was quite difficult! A sad loss. It is fitting to be back

:20:46. > :20:51.here you run from his passing. was wonderful about him,

:20:51. > :20:55.particularly here, was that the traditional thinking here is that

:20:55. > :21:02.you make Europe score on the first 13 holes and then you hang on and

:21:02. > :21:11.the way back. He did not do that, did he? He could do anything. He

:21:11. > :21:16.was a magician with the golf ball. That was him hanging on! He could

:21:16. > :21:21.hit it left, right, left, right. He was always in the hole. That was

:21:21. > :21:26.the fascinating thing about him. terrific putter. A magical putter.

:21:26. > :21:32.Absolutely. He was not the only man to win here. Dan Walker caught up

:21:32. > :21:37.with a man who won the Open in 1974. He became the only second player --

:21:37. > :21:40.only the second player to win the Open in three separate decades. The

:21:40. > :21:44.man in black was a great crowd- pleaser but he'll be one after a

:21:44. > :21:50.tussle with the clubhouse. We're down by the side of the 18th

:21:50. > :21:56.green with - I might have to salute you! - one of the legends of the

:21:56. > :22:01.game, Gary Player. Three Open Championships. I wanted to be the

:22:01. > :22:05.first person to win in three decades. I had always spoken about

:22:05. > :22:10.exercises and diet and staying fit, so to read able to do that in three

:22:10. > :22:14.decades you have to do that. Also, to win on a golf course like this

:22:14. > :22:20.one. The Open Championship has been my favourite tournament and the

:22:20. > :22:30.world and that meant so much to me. Parker's the it. I had a six-shot

:22:30. > :22:34.

:22:34. > :22:38.lead with two holes to play. I put my ball right here. I turned my

:22:38. > :22:45.putter round backwards. And they were all these members, right here,

:22:45. > :22:52.having a drink and there were drops falling on my head. That is exactly

:22:52. > :23:02.where the ball was. I c his head out of the window, the secretary

:23:02. > :23:04.

:23:04. > :23:08.says, good luck. I take my putter. A very easy shot. As you can see.

:23:08. > :23:18.Simple as that. The flag was at the back here, so I was only 10 feet

:23:18. > :23:19.

:23:19. > :23:26.from the wall. I have been here every year since 1955. I stocky my

:23:26. > :23:35.body and trim. Thank you for talking us through the memories of

:23:35. > :23:40.See what a 1000 sit-ups a day can do for you? I know you remember

:23:40. > :23:46.that one. What is your more special memory to cherish? For me, it

:23:46. > :23:49.depends on the time of your life. Tony Jacklin's when for me. I was

:23:49. > :23:55.in my early twenties, we had been told for years that the Americans

:23:55. > :23:59.were better, the Australians were better, but Tony's when here

:23:59. > :24:07.started to turn the tide. It gave European golf and British golf that

:24:07. > :24:11.boost. It was a bit of extra confidence for us to get where we

:24:11. > :24:15.are today, right on top the world. Particularly with Jack Nicklaus and

:24:15. > :24:19.Arnold Palmer, all these great names coming out of America, but it

:24:19. > :24:24.showed that Britain could be these legends of the game. Especially as

:24:24. > :24:31.Tory went on to win the US Open the following year. It was a real boost.

:24:31. > :24:37.For you, Nick? You have had two very close finishes here.

:24:37. > :24:43.English amateur, 1975. The start of my career. I had a Ryder cup in

:24:43. > :24:50.1977. Others my very first Ryder cup. We played three matches, and I

:24:50. > :24:54.won all three. I beat Tom Watson, who was Open champion. That was the

:24:54. > :24:59.start of my career. I have some great memories from here. Everyone

:24:59. > :25:04.has good memories of this place. It is great to have you back after 11

:25:04. > :25:07.years, Peter. Congratulations on setting up the course. You're back

:25:07. > :25:14.to your day job. Thank you for popping in. Thank you. I look

:25:14. > :25:21.forward to an interesting afternoon. Ken Brown not close to landing the

:25:21. > :25:30.Claret Jug, tied six, Muirfield, 1980. These days, when he is out on

:25:30. > :25:35.the course, he's unbeatable. wind is definitely freshening. But

:25:35. > :25:45.is critical to find the fairway off the tee today. By the rough is

:25:45. > :25:47.

:25:47. > :25:54.quite different places. One or two areas, the ball just settles down.

:25:54. > :25:59.If you see where the people of walk, it is just like the fairway. You

:25:59. > :26:04.have to avoid the bunkers. There are 205 of them. There in pristine

:26:04. > :26:09.condition. You have to see if you can get the ball over those little

:26:09. > :26:15.tempting edges. With the wind freshening, finding the fairway

:26:15. > :26:22.today is going to be more difficult and vitally important.

:26:22. > :26:27.Thank you, Ken. So many possibilities. There flags

:26:27. > :26:35.beginning to falter. The wind is getting up. Peter Alliss has seen

:26:35. > :26:39.it all. 31st Open Championship covering for the BBC. What are your

:26:39. > :26:45.impressions of what may lie ahead today? I try to be a sort of

:26:45. > :26:50.sensible. A lot of people think I am not. So many things can happen.

:26:50. > :26:56.To say that the leader, if he breaks par, is going to win, is not

:26:56. > :27:02.true. Nick Price was two shots ahead here with a round to go and

:27:02. > :27:12.at 68 under normal circumstances, you say, he will win. But Seve did

:27:12. > :27:15.

:27:15. > :27:18.a 65. There are all sorts of things that can come into the equation. It

:27:18. > :27:26.may be 208, that sort of thing. It all depends on how the deal with

:27:26. > :27:34.these conditions. Not only this, it is this. It is easy to get carried

:27:34. > :27:42.away. We'll talk more about that. A big, big day for Adam Scott. Only

:27:42. > :27:52.time will tell whether a four-shot lead will be enough for him to be

:27:52. > :27:57.

:27:57. > :28:07.great confidence booster. Adam Scott takes the lead at 10 under

:28:07. > :28:07.

:28:07. > :28:17.par. Get there. Yes! Two under for the round, 11 under for the

:28:17. > :28:24.Championship. It is not a million miles away. The leader by five all

:28:24. > :28:34.of a sudden. The first drop shot for Adam Scott. Good aggressive

:28:34. > :28:36.

:28:36. > :28:46.and himself. He has never been in this situation. What is about to

:28:46. > :28:47.

:28:47. > :28:53.change in the next few hours? You have to turn off your emotions.

:28:53. > :28:58.On the range, he was putting up the defensive barrier, though trying to

:28:58. > :29:04.keep to himself. Steve Williams on the back will be a great help. They

:29:04. > :29:08.were chatting a lot. He will recognise of his man is changing.

:29:08. > :29:16.You have got to go and play golf. A lot of good decisions have to be

:29:16. > :29:21.made today. It will be playing different today. Anything down wind,

:29:21. > :29:26.the golf ball is now releasing. They have had the luxury of it

:29:26. > :29:31.stopping on a line. Now, they're going to get some release. On the

:29:31. > :29:37.14th, you're going to one that on a down slope. All these things are

:29:37. > :29:40.going to come into play. A lot is going on and you're suddenly

:29:40. > :29:47.recognising totally different feelings in your body and you swing

:29:47. > :29:52.will feel tighter. How do you deal with that? A couple of weeks ago in

:29:52. > :29:59.America, I was working, he had a sneaky run tried to catch Tiger on

:29:59. > :30:04.the Sunday. Away from the cameras, he had six or seven under par. If

:30:04. > :30:11.he had posted one or two more birdies to scare him. And he went

:30:11. > :30:14.bogey, bogey, bogey. No one was really a round. Whether he has

:30:14. > :30:18.learned from that and turned into a positive, that can be good thing,

:30:18. > :30:23.that is how we learn, or whether it happens again, he might scare

:30:23. > :30:30.himself. All these leaders have got great pluses and great minuses as

:30:30. > :30:33.well. Adam Scott, last night, made the point that four shots going

:30:33. > :30:36.into the final day in any event this year as an proved to be all

:30:36. > :30:41.that much, because there has been such an eventful year of golf with

:30:41. > :30:46.people coming right out of the pack. You have seen this over the years.

:30:46. > :30:49.Everyone assumes that the winner is going to play perfect golf. The

:30:49. > :30:56.winner will not be the person who plays the most wonderful shot, it

:30:56. > :31:00.will be the person who has the least mistakes. Paul Lawrie, he had

:31:00. > :31:07.a putt from 10 feet and three- putted. He tried and everyone.

:31:07. > :31:11.Things happen. You hit your drive, you hit your second and the putt

:31:12. > :31:19.goes in if you're lucky. Things can be with you against you. That is

:31:19. > :31:23.the game. One of the most outstanding things about the last

:31:23. > :31:26.day of the Open Championship is how you let that plea on your emotions.

:31:26. > :31:33.There is one man who has Provan consistently over the last couple

:31:33. > :31:43.of years that he loves the thrill of this, and it is grim McDowell. -

:31:43. > :31:56.

:31:56. > :32:06.He has that confident spring in his step. Graeme McDowell in the mood,

:32:06. > :32:14.to five under par. Could be very good indeed for Graham McDowell!

:32:14. > :32:24.Yes, McDowell again! Back to back birdies. 67 today. Wonderful player

:32:24. > :32:26.

:32:26. > :32:31.in the stretch of holes. This man was brought up on a links

:32:31. > :32:38.golf. How much could that play to his advantage? Does he like these

:32:38. > :32:43.conditions? If he plays as he has done he will have some idea what

:32:43. > :32:49.might happen. If you always played with trees down the side of the

:32:49. > :32:55.fairway and you suddenly had these open spaces, it is a very different

:32:55. > :33:04.world. He is very confident. I hope that carries him through. He looks

:33:04. > :33:11.like he enjoys it. I got as nervous as anybody but I tried to enjoy it.

:33:11. > :33:17.I tried to imagine I was playing with friends at at a local park and

:33:17. > :33:21.driving at the third hole grip. At can make your brain work. It has

:33:21. > :33:29.been very interesting psychological stop some of the things that he

:33:29. > :33:34.says are remarkable. --. Some of the things that he says are

:33:34. > :33:39.remarkable. I am all scared of failing than of winning. For a man

:33:39. > :33:47.of such repute to articulate these kinds of emotions is pretty

:33:47. > :33:52.startling. You can scare yourself. People did not understand about

:33:52. > :33:58.professionals, you have to have nerves. You have to have the right

:33:58. > :34:04.kind of nervous. Sometimes you like the shots and you don't like them.

:34:04. > :34:08.If you do not, it can scare you and you have to bail out. Instead of

:34:08. > :34:14.going for the flak, you have to move your target and you still have

:34:14. > :34:19.to have great confidence. If your shot scares you but you know how to

:34:19. > :34:24.deal with it, you can get the emotions right and stand up and you

:34:24. > :34:30.play the shot and pull it off. But if you scare yourself and think,

:34:30. > :34:36.how can I do that and you hit a poor shot, you can get a bit

:34:36. > :34:40.negative and you will face it again. He is confident and has had a great

:34:40. > :34:45.build up. At the US Open he was right there and he still has that

:34:45. > :34:50.feeling. That is what we are talking about. He had that

:34:51. > :34:54.experience last month in a Major group trying to win. And the other

:34:54. > :35:03.factor is playing a couple of weeks ago at Port Rashid in the Irish

:35:03. > :35:08.Open. -- Royal Portrush. He likes that style of golf. It does not

:35:08. > :35:17.matter too hemmed. It is not the pictures on the scorecard, but the

:35:17. > :35:22.numbers. He helped to win the Ryder Cup. He had a couple of drinks of

:35:22. > :35:25.champagne afterwards in the locker room. He said you dream about these

:35:26. > :35:31.moments all of your life to win the Ryder Cup and walk down the 18th to

:35:31. > :35:38.win a Major Championship. But when you are about to do it, you get

:35:38. > :35:48.scared. Do I really what's this? Did you experience that? -- want

:35:48. > :35:49.

:35:49. > :35:55.this? I have faced it thousands of times. I have looked at the

:35:55. > :36:02.leaderboard at would Rodger Davis and I said to myself that I want to

:36:02. > :36:09.win and I faced that and I made it. But it is hard at the time.

:36:09. > :36:15.that is what you do it all. If you are not happy in that situation,

:36:15. > :36:19.you will not make that situation. You are quite happy to keep pushing

:36:19. > :36:24.yourself a little bit further and that is a great feeling when your

:36:24. > :36:29.stomach is Jennings and you can still play the game of golf. For me

:36:29. > :36:39.that was the real challenge and the real joy. Going out and playing on

:36:39. > :36:39.

:36:40. > :36:48.Sundays and doing it. You have obviously had that belief. A back

:36:48. > :36:52.is half the battle. -- that is half the battle. It is all about the

:36:52. > :36:57.strong it mind and in the past few years that has all been about Tiger

:36:57. > :37:07.Woods. He has taken 14 but never from a position of chasing on the

:37:07. > :37:28.

:37:28. > :37:38.final day. Can he bucked the trend to work hard. M Rayer! Hello! --

:37:38. > :37:51.

:37:52. > :38:01.hello! Just missing. Rock steady. deer. Just missed that. Nice shot.

:38:02. > :38:02.

:38:02. > :38:10.Is he in a position to buck the trend from five behind? Is his game

:38:10. > :38:16.in place to do that? Of course it is. You can make of statistics

:38:16. > :38:21.whatever you will. I could not understand it yesterday it. I have

:38:21. > :38:26.not for the last three years, at the way he has played. But I could

:38:26. > :38:33.not understand his conservatism. Leaving himself a long shot and not

:38:33. > :38:36.quite getting the distance. He does not look like he is enjoying it. He

:38:36. > :38:44.does not do anything to try and give to the crowd and get something

:38:44. > :38:48.back from them. He does not smile. He does not do anything. He is

:38:48. > :38:58.living in a steel cage. Not just concentration. I do not know what

:38:58. > :39:04.it is but it was very strange. But he can win today. Do you agree?

:39:04. > :39:08.When that driver goes off, that changes his mind set. He has played

:39:08. > :39:18.great in America when he has been able to throttle back and play

:39:18. > :39:20.

:39:20. > :39:26.within himself. He had a little bit of a cold going. But at 80 % he is

:39:26. > :39:31.incredible. His rhythm is incredible. He knows that he is not

:39:31. > :39:41.going to hit that drive and lessee is 100 % comfortable. He might be

:39:41. > :39:43.

:39:43. > :39:49.forced a few times. -- unless he is 100 %. He might have the 11th hole

:39:49. > :39:58.par five and he might have to play a longer game. He might mess up his

:39:58. > :40:06.second shot. But he does not like a wind left, right. But you never

:40:06. > :40:15.know. He might buck the trend. He is in bed. If he does not scare

:40:15. > :40:24.himself and starts to scare others will stop --... Who knows what will

:40:24. > :40:30.happen? He recovered very well at the 18th. Brandt Snedeker is in

:40:30. > :40:40.position to do something today. And out of the chasing pack, who do you

:40:40. > :40:40.

:40:40. > :40:43.like? They are all good. Adam Scott is ahead by four. He is a nice

:40:43. > :40:49.young man, Brandt Snedeker and is looking forward to the challenge.

:40:49. > :40:53.He is holding on and he will just see what happens. He has got a

:40:53. > :40:58.quick rhythm and if he does get a little bit nervous, he is quick

:40:58. > :41:02.with everything. Sometimes he might get a little bit too quick and make

:41:02. > :41:09.mistakes. But it will be fascinating watching them get

:41:09. > :41:19.around. It will be joyful. Brandt Snedeker has given us much to smile

:41:19. > :41:30.

:41:30. > :41:36.about and much to think about it been consistent over five holes. At

:41:36. > :41:41.just keeping his rhythm going. has avoided all the bankers are to

:41:41. > :41:47.disappoint. His first visit to a bunker in this Championship and he

:41:47. > :41:54.does not look particularly happy. Another shot gone for Snedeker.

:41:54. > :42:03.That is not the place to be. He had a one-shot lead at the start. Four

:42:03. > :42:13.drift. Another shot goes from Snedeker. A falling apart. That is

:42:13. > :42:16.

:42:16. > :42:22.Can you emphasise what has affected a Brandt Snedeker today? It is not

:42:22. > :42:31.a bad time to scare yourself, Saturday. With his recent victories

:42:31. > :42:39.in America, he has come back from well behind. We had that collapse

:42:39. > :42:42.Stanley when he took an eight. That might greet him up. He has had

:42:42. > :42:49.difficult days on Saturday and he might think that he can come back

:42:49. > :42:53.and play with freedom. It looks unlikely. It is very well put

:42:54. > :43:03.together but I do not think anybody is going to run back to the

:43:03. > :43:09.clubhouse and posed a very racecourse. They are last out at

:43:09. > :43:18.2:30pm. Somebody is landing the Claret Jug. But Elliott, Peter

:43:18. > :43:25.Alliss landed a smaller version. -- earlier today. That was a lovely

:43:25. > :43:29.honour. What did you think of that? It was a thrilling. I am getting a

:43:29. > :43:37.little bit worried because everybody is always giving me

:43:37. > :43:42.prices. I think I am going to snuff it. I have loved the game of golf

:43:42. > :43:48.all my life and my father was one of the best professionals of the

:43:48. > :43:52.day and the family have been interested in golf for 100 years. I

:43:53. > :43:57.try to be an observer. I get into trouble for that sometimes if you

:43:57. > :44:05.do not say the right things to the right people. But I think, is it

:44:05. > :44:09.fair? Is it all right? Does it work? And you are both members of

:44:09. > :44:19.the Hall of fame. A very interesting speech from Peter. Were

:44:19. > :44:23.

:44:23. > :44:27.you aware of that? We are not ready for that on the BBC! But over the

:44:27. > :44:33.years you have been hanging up your clubs. Is it refreshing to be able

:44:33. > :44:38.to give your opinions without a favour on television these days? Is

:44:38. > :44:45.it a change to speak your mind and not have to be mindful of other

:44:45. > :44:53.golfers? You do the best you can. We call like golf. We did not have

:44:53. > :45:00.autocues and scripts it. But I enjoy it. I have had my eight this

:45:00. > :45:05.season in America and more to come, which is good. You just want to

:45:05. > :45:10.make it interesting to. You want to do a good job and I want to

:45:10. > :45:18.entertain myself and enjoy myself. I want to walk out of the door and

:45:18. > :45:22.think, that was all right. I am hinting it now. It is like my

:45:22. > :45:30.second career. Which is very strange because my number one as a

:45:30. > :45:36.child was to be my own boss. But it is great fun. And you try to give

:45:36. > :45:41.your honest opinion on what you have seemed. We only get a couple

:45:41. > :45:48.of seconds to do that. And we are living precariously because we all

:45:48. > :45:51.want the claret jugs. difference with commentators is

:45:51. > :45:58.that we are always nervous of criticising any of them because we

:45:58. > :46:02.spend a lot of time with them in the locker room. But I do not. I

:46:02. > :46:07.was reading a report from a theatre critic that did not mix with the

:46:07. > :46:12.actors because he wanted freedom of opinion. He taught if he became too

:46:12. > :46:16.friendly with them it would be a poor performance. I thought one of

:46:16. > :46:21.my friend would be great at television but he could not bring

:46:21. > :46:26.himself to describe a bad shot. People can be like that with the

:46:26. > :46:31.players of the day. But I feel rightly or wrongly, I keep out of

:46:31. > :46:37.the way. I have got little spies and I know a bit more than they

:46:37. > :46:42.think. That suits me. We have got a fascinating time ahead. You have

:46:42. > :46:49.both been commenting and contributing. We can get out to

:46:49. > :46:55.Kenny Brown. It is going to be one of these challenging days with the

:46:55. > :47:05.wind conditions as we have said. Dan Walker is always a bit of a

:47:05. > :47:06.

:47:06. > :47:10.quirky fellow when it comes to his As the players walk of the 18th,

:47:11. > :47:16.they have some very important business to attend to. They make

:47:16. > :47:21.their way over here to the recorder's office. This is perhaps

:47:21. > :47:26.the most essential thing they will do when they finish their round.

:47:26. > :47:30.Famously, people have made mistakes in the past. He will coming here,

:47:30. > :47:34.they will sit down for about five minutes, they will go through hole

:47:34. > :47:38.by hole making sure they have exactly the same score as the

:47:38. > :47:41.Recorder has agreed, they can check it on the big screen, to make sure

:47:41. > :47:46.that when the sign it off, it was exactly as it was out there on the

:47:46. > :47:52.course. Otherwise they could be disqualified. Then they come to the

:47:52. > :47:56.interview room. This is the primary interview position, where people

:47:56. > :48:06.are busily preparing themselves. You can see or mock room in a golf

:48:06. > :48:13.

:48:13. > :48:16.course. He will sit down. They will say, obviously, hole in one on the

:48:16. > :48:21.first was the most important hole on the round for me. And they will

:48:21. > :48:26.come through here, back out to do an interview with Radio 5 Live.

:48:26. > :48:29.Then they will step up into the second re-interview position. There

:48:29. > :48:34.will be assembled people of the media. It will pronounce what went

:48:34. > :48:38.well and when -- what went wrong in their 18 holes. Then he will leave

:48:38. > :48:43.and make their way 200 yards over to the right hand side and going to

:48:43. > :48:47.the big media centre and speak to the assembled men and women of the

:48:47. > :48:52.press. Then, their time is their own. They can go to the range, they

:48:52. > :48:57.can go home for a sleek, there can go for a pork pie, daily person who

:48:57. > :49:04.does anything difference -- different is the ball to wins it.

:49:04. > :49:09.He has the Claret Jug to pick up. There are a lot of cabins there.

:49:09. > :49:19.The winner will be heading out on to the 18th green to except that

:49:19. > :49:24.

:49:24. > :49:30.trophy by about 6:45pm. Unless, of These leaders are not going out or

:49:30. > :49:40.2:30pm. Let's check and see if there has been any movement further

:49:40. > :49:49.

:49:49. > :49:56.their way out on to the course. Ian Poulter, we have seen his eagle at

:49:56. > :50:01.the second already. He has just had a bogey. Paul Lawrie is out early

:50:01. > :50:11.today. A disappointing third round for Paul yesterday. He is one over

:50:11. > :50:13.

:50:13. > :50:23.par for today. The scoring is not particularly great at the moment

:50:23. > :50:36.

:50:36. > :50:45.Ross pressure has come home with a Jeev Milkha Singh, who won at

:50:46. > :50:55.Castle Stuart last week. Martin layered had an 82 yesterday. Romero

:50:56. > :50:56.

:50:56. > :51:05.has had Carlos test on his back. It hasn't helped much, as it? --

:51:05. > :51:12.Final reflections as we going to that final day. The scoring is not

:51:12. > :51:22.great. It looks like it will be a real challenge. You can go down to

:51:22. > :51:25.

:51:25. > :51:35.Johnson and Ernie Els, 68 or 67 looks quite a good score, so Adam

:51:35. > :51:38.may have to shot in his pocket, I would say. Simply because of the

:51:38. > :51:46.difficulty of the golf course. All these guys are feeling good, they

:51:46. > :51:51.feel they have an opportunity. Ernie said, he is feeling great, he

:51:51. > :51:56.feels something special was going to happen, that is a great positive,

:51:56. > :52:02.and his negative is, it has been 10 years since his last major. Johnson

:52:02. > :52:10.is very dangerous, he can keep the golf ball low. He is a great putter.

:52:10. > :52:16.You never know. Nine under, 10 under, my be around the mark,

:52:16. > :52:22.unless Adam get a run and off he goes. What is your feeling about

:52:22. > :52:31.the number it will take to win? would think that if Adam Scott did

:52:31. > :52:36.a par 70, even if he shot 71 or 72, he could still win. If he breaks

:52:36. > :52:40.par Mac, with a four-shot lead, with the conditions, I think he is

:52:40. > :52:45.home and dry. I worry about this long putter. I know he uses it well

:52:46. > :52:49.and he has a wide stance, but if the wind blows, you suddenly get a

:52:49. > :52:58.little bit of movement and they don't going. You talk about the

:52:58. > :53:07.wind. Ken Brown is out there in position. Is it bawling out there?

:53:07. > :53:17.Were then St Anne's is all about tactics. Let's have a look at the

:53:17. > :53:19.

:53:19. > :53:25.second hole. It is a long par four. This is the tee.
