:00:34. > :00:46.The US PGA Championship, the final major of the year. Some of the

:00:47. > :00:49.greats of the major era have lifted the Wanamaker Trophy, but this

:00:50. > :00:54.Championship has also brought fortune to others. So here we are,

:00:55. > :01:01.Quail Hollow, North Carolina, a Sunni, stormy setting to the final

:01:02. > :01:10.major of the year. However, this is a very tough chorus. The green mile,

:01:11. > :01:19.over 1000 miles, and coupled with the Bermudan grass, major

:01:20. > :01:22.opportunity could find itself just slipping away. There is no tougher

:01:23. > :01:29.test, even for the most experienced of golfers. It will be a long wait

:01:30. > :01:34.to the next opportunity to win a major. Who will take advantage of

:01:35. > :01:40.that today? Yes, who indeed? Hello and welcome

:01:41. > :01:45.to the final day of the final major of the season where things are

:01:46. > :01:49.finely balanced in the hunt to hoist the Wanamaker Trophy. It has been a

:01:50. > :01:54.punishing 54 holes around Quail Hollow so far and at the start of

:01:55. > :01:59.the day there were just 15 players under-par with just seven shots

:02:00. > :02:07.separating the top 20. It all comes down to today. It is a demanding

:02:08. > :02:12.golf course. If you hit good shots, you will be rewarded, if not, you

:02:13. > :02:16.will get penalised. At the end of the day I feel so relaxed. You

:02:17. > :02:25.cannot put any more pressure on. I am going to take my time and enjoy

:02:26. > :02:29.it. Quail Hollow is a very difficult golf course, you have to take it one

:02:30. > :02:34.shot at a time and be very careful about each shot. It is a huge deal,

:02:35. > :02:39.but at the end of the day I want to win this one just as bad as any

:02:40. > :02:44.other. I have to go out and see what I have got. You do not want to do

:02:45. > :02:51.anything stupid on the first few holes. Anything can happen when you

:02:52. > :02:55.are on the 14th tee. I am looking forward to the opportunity. If I

:02:56. > :03:02.keep hitting the ball on the fairway and making some putts, I will get my

:03:03. > :03:05.chances. Those are the five leaders, but it is incredibly close. Kevin

:03:06. > :03:18.Kisner has been there since day one. World number three, Hideki Matsuyama

:03:19. > :03:24.is just one back. Louis Oosthuizen also fancies his chances of a second

:03:25. > :03:29.major. Conditions at Quail Hollow are expected to be similar to

:03:30. > :03:32.yesterday, very warm and humid with barely any winter. There is the

:03:33. > :03:40.chance of a thunderstorm, but hopefully it can bypass the North

:03:41. > :03:46.Carolina area. It is up for grabs. Whose name will be etched into PGA

:03:47. > :03:49.Championship history at the end of the day? But after a fairly slow

:03:50. > :03:57.start, the birdies are beginning to fall. Hideki Matsuyama shot 64 on

:03:58. > :04:06.Friday, but he had to scramble for it yesterday. This was his birdie

:04:07. > :04:14.putt on the past seven. This was the second for Kevin is now at the

:04:15. > :04:19.par-5/7. It would get wet, but he would escape with just one shot, but

:04:20. > :04:23.he moved off the lead for the first time since Thursday morning.

:04:24. > :04:28.Francesco Molinari was right in amongst it after a second-round 64,

:04:29. > :04:33.but a 74 yesterday had him going into the final round at just

:04:34. > :04:43.2-under. That put him back up to 4-under par. For someone who has won

:04:44. > :04:49.five times on the PGA Tour, Majors have not been the most prolific of

:04:50. > :05:01.their events and yet to register a top ten finish, Patrick Reed. This

:05:02. > :05:06.was his second shot. It would go very close. He could not convert the

:05:07. > :05:12.Eagle putt, but it was his fifth birdie of the day to move him to

:05:13. > :05:17.within two. Rickie Fowler won his first PGA event around Quail Hollow

:05:18. > :05:21.and was a big favourite coming in. But back-to-back birdies at 12 and

:05:22. > :05:29.13 had him up to 3-under par and this was his tee shot at the par

:05:30. > :05:32.414. He had another birdie and he followed it up with his fourth

:05:33. > :05:39.birdie on the bounce at the next hole. He is within two. Justin

:05:40. > :05:43.Thomas, a contender at the US open earlier this year, finished off the

:05:44. > :05:50.pace this time. A birdie on the night had him 1-under and just one

:05:51. > :06:01.shot off the lead. Back now to Francesco Molinari and his second

:06:02. > :06:04.shot to the par 4/12. That would be good enough for back-to-back birdies

:06:05. > :06:10.for the Italian, his fourth of the day, he was now on 5-under par.

:06:11. > :06:16.Chris Stroud is looking to become the second player from outside the

:06:17. > :06:20.well's top 200 to win a major. The occasion did not seem to be

:06:21. > :06:27.affecting him. This was his second shot into the night. On it would

:06:28. > :06:34.roll towards the flag. That was good enough for a birdie and the Texan

:06:35. > :06:40.moved into a share of the lead. But the two-way share of the lead did

:06:41. > :06:45.not last too long. This is Matsuyama on the tenth, a birdie putt. He

:06:46. > :06:54.would regain the outright lead on 8-under par. Justin Thomas also on

:06:55. > :07:00.the tenth. This is his birdie putt. It looked to be going in, he thought

:07:01. > :07:10.it was going in. He was not too keen to get too close to it and tap it

:07:11. > :07:13.in. Would it drop? Yes, it would. Back-to-back birdies and Thomas

:07:14. > :07:21.would now go to within one of the league. The 14th hole, and Francesco

:07:22. > :07:27.Molinari with another birdie opportunity. The third birdie in

:07:28. > :07:35.four holes. 6-under par. Two off the lead. Back to the overnight leader,

:07:36. > :07:41.Kevin Kisner at the 10th hole and a birdie opportunity. In that would go

:07:42. > :07:55.and Kevin Kisner now joins the leaders on 7-under. Matsuyama on the

:07:56. > :08:02.11th. He had some scrambling to do yesterday. Could he do it again? He

:08:03. > :08:07.could not. He dropped a shot and he moved back down to 7-under par.

:08:08. > :08:17.There has been a lot of movement just over the last 45 minutes and it

:08:18. > :08:26.is a four way tie for the lead. They are lining up behind them. Patrick

:08:27. > :08:32.Reed is also going along very nicely. Louis Oosthuizen is one of

:08:33. > :08:38.the few major winners contending today and he is well within touching

:08:39. > :08:44.distance. What a fantastic finish for Jordan Smith in his first major.

:08:45. > :08:49.A top 15 will mean that he is back next year. Let's get out on the

:08:50. > :08:56.course and we go back to join Francesco Molinari with Ken Brown

:08:57. > :09:01.and Peter Alliss. Francesco Molinari has been plaguing

:09:02. > :09:07.some wonderful stuff. That was the first week shot he played. It was an

:09:08. > :09:15.awkward one. Don't go too far, please, please. Where he is standing

:09:16. > :09:19.on the right, it looks a simple shot. Kevin Kisner is one of the

:09:20. > :09:45.joint leaders. That is tricky, a lot of Bermuda to

:09:46. > :09:49.come over. Patrick Reed. 5-under. Certainly there are half a dozen or

:09:50. > :09:55.more players in with a chance of sneaking this Championship. It is

:09:56. > :10:01.not a question of boldly winning it and striding out in front as Palmer

:10:02. > :10:12.and Marco Roy have done in the past. It is tiptoeing to victory. The

:10:13. > :10:18.clubhead speed is enormous. He has found the fairway nicely. A bit of

:10:19. > :10:28.mud on his ball. No run on that at all. It stopped a stone dead. I

:10:29. > :10:33.don't know what he is up to, but he is interesting to watch. The longest

:10:34. > :10:41.drive of the week. Very inexperienced at this level of play

:10:42. > :10:43.and he is doing very well indeed. I don't want to start thinking about

:10:44. > :11:07.it now. Molinari at the 15th. And he has got

:11:08. > :11:17.it. He has had four birdies since the sixth. What is he up to? Great

:11:18. > :11:25.stuff in the last hour or so, a bit slow to start.

:11:26. > :11:37.Chopped right across, too hard. It has left him with a horrible shot.

:11:38. > :11:48.It is your fault, Kenny. Rickie Fowler is 5-under. This is a

:11:49. > :12:00.dangerous par-3. That has been a popular spot. Matsuyama is slowly

:12:01. > :12:13.back and then there is a slight pause and then look out. If you can

:12:14. > :12:21.believe the tracer... I thought that was dead down the middle. It is the

:12:22. > :12:31.toughest fairway to find, the 12th. Camry keeper do is one of his bits

:12:32. > :12:40.of genius? He needs it. -- can Rickie.

:12:41. > :12:49.There is the balloon giving us pictures from on high. An hour or so

:12:50. > :12:56.ago it was fiddling about with two or three players in it. Suddenly a

:12:57. > :12:57.couple of missed shots and suddenly there are half a dozen people in

:12:58. > :13:14.with a shout. Chez Reavie is playing with

:13:15. > :13:19.Francesco Molinari. These two have pulled each other along and it can

:13:20. > :13:24.happen. This is Henrik Stenson. I like watching him play, he is only

:13:25. > :13:34.1-over. I thought he might be better. But it was not his week.

:13:35. > :13:40.Finishing in a blaze of glory. A beautiful shot. One of the best we

:13:41. > :13:44.have seen. Only two birdies at 18 today so far. A slightly

:13:45. > :13:53.disappointing day for Paul Casey. From here you will not believe how

:13:54. > :14:22.quick it is. He missed the rage. Scott Brown, a famous Cornish name.

:14:23. > :14:28.The pride of Cornish golf. Must be a relation. That is the way you do it

:14:29. > :14:45.in Cornwall. It was a good shot. There is a forecast with more

:14:46. > :14:50.thunderstorms coming through later on in the afternoon. Temperatures

:14:51. > :14:55.are in the mid-80s, but with the humidity they feel much warmer. It

:14:56. > :15:04.is good the way it has all tightened up. The course had won much of the

:15:05. > :15:11.battles this week. Many of the battles had been won by the course.

:15:12. > :15:16.Rory McIlroy said in one of his interviews that changing the grass

:15:17. > :15:21.to Bermuda, which is the basis of the rough, it is like playing in

:15:22. > :15:32.thick parsley. That was from a tough life. It was

:15:33. > :16:22.not fluffy. Too far. That was a bad judgment.

:16:23. > :16:29.Look how far he is over the green. Look at his putting grip. A lovely

:16:30. > :16:38.natural stroke. This is to save par. That was a confident one. A birdie

:16:39. > :16:46.at the last is a scarce thing. He will have another chance. Justin

:16:47. > :16:56.Thomas. Sensational at the beginning of the year, winner of three events.

:16:57. > :17:03.And he just failed to get that extra bit of kick on, but a good shot. The

:17:04. > :17:10.atmosphere has completely changed in the last hour. There have been lots

:17:11. > :17:21.of shouts. Absolutely, the crowd has come to life. Suddenly there is a

:17:22. > :17:22.spark. That is Kevin Kisner. 53 out of 53, that is better than my

:17:23. > :17:55.average! He is on the wrong side, Ken. It was

:17:56. > :18:07.awkward, but he has made life very difficult for himself. This is an

:18:08. > :18:12.nasty one. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson might conjure up a bit of

:18:13. > :18:18.magic here. Trying to be too fancy with it. He did not like it at all.

:18:19. > :18:34.He has still got a horrible shot left. If he could get that in one

:18:35. > :18:46.putt, there will be some damage, but it will not be irreparable. So much

:18:47. > :19:03.depends on the lie. Not much break in this. The pressure was on. Time

:19:04. > :19:09.and time again we have seen him dribble by the edge. What about this

:19:10. > :19:23.one? He had one go and he fluffed it.

:19:24. > :19:37.A good result there. Still a little work to do, but it will be a shot

:19:38. > :19:42.dropped. Matsuyama is going to drop a stroke. He is 6-under. So Justin

:19:43. > :19:50.Thomas as things stand has the right lead. Others might come into the

:19:51. > :19:56.equation. Here is Patrick Reed. Whoa. You think they have stopped

:19:57. > :20:18.and they go dribbling on. Good try. Not the greatest of

:20:19. > :20:24.starts. Dropped two shots in the first three holes. He birdied one.

:20:25. > :20:36.He did not get away to a fast start, but now he may well be on his own in

:20:37. > :20:45.a minute. Taking a long look at this one as if he does not fancy it that

:20:46. > :20:50.much. Two feet more or less. He should not miss this one. Belt this

:20:51. > :21:06.one and take the break out of it. That is good. Chris Wood finishes

:21:07. > :21:15.with 73. 3-over is not bad. Jason Day at the 18th.

:21:16. > :21:39.2015 PGA champion. Henrik Stenson with a three at the last. Jason Day

:21:40. > :21:48.is in 12th position. He is not far from being back to his best. The

:21:49. > :21:54.leaderboard is changing almost minute by minute. Molinari is

:21:55. > :22:04.struggling at the 16th. He will do well to make a par. But it will be

:22:05. > :22:12.tricky. Those last three holes will tell a story, 16, 17 and 18. All

:22:13. > :22:17.that water in play. It is the pressure off your thoughts,

:22:18. > :22:21.controlling your mind. 24-year-old Jordan Smith was making

:22:22. > :22:25.his debut this week. He has already picked up a European win this week

:22:26. > :22:31.and has had a sensational ride into the well's top 100. He gave himself

:22:32. > :22:38.a chance of getting into the top 15 to get an invite back next year. He

:22:39. > :22:44.was in the clubhouse. How do you sum up your final day? I am really happy

:22:45. > :22:48.with the way I played today. It is a bit of a shame about the last, but I

:22:49. > :22:54.am chuffed with myself about the whole week. You said coming into

:22:55. > :23:01.this that you are pinching yourself being here, so what was the reality

:23:02. > :23:05.light of the four days of the event? I am still pinching myself. I have

:23:06. > :23:09.had some good groups and enjoyed the whole experience and I am happy.

:23:10. > :23:19.Talk us through the progression you have made from winning the Europe

:23:20. > :23:22.Road Tour Order of Merit. I won the grand final to win it which got me

:23:23. > :23:26.into the top five and got me the challenge Tour card and I managed to

:23:27. > :23:31.win the challenge Tour year after and lucky enough I want the

:23:32. > :23:35.tournament in Germany a couple of weeks ago which got me into this.

:23:36. > :23:41.Did you set yourself any goals over the last two years or did you let it

:23:42. > :23:46.happen? Just let it all happen and enjoying myself. I put some hard

:23:47. > :23:55.work with my team in back home, but I am still enjoying myself. Have you

:23:56. > :24:00.got any ambitions? No, I am just enjoying what I am doing and I hope

:24:01. > :24:12.the progression can keep going. Well done. Well done indeed.

:24:13. > :24:34.Muddy ball he cries. When there is mud on the ball you cannot control

:24:35. > :24:40.its direction. It can go anywhere. He misses the green on 16. Bad luck.

:24:41. > :24:46.Scott Brown is a level par, putting for a birdie. If he keeps going, he

:24:47. > :24:57.will pick up a very nice cheque and qualify for next year. You can see

:24:58. > :25:08.how difficult it is to get the pace and the feel of these greens.

:25:09. > :25:14.I think commercially this has definitely been a great success. The

:25:15. > :25:28.PGA Championship has always been the Cinderella event for a variety of

:25:29. > :25:34.reasons. Oh, no. A 6-iron. Miles off line. Not too bad. I thought it was

:25:35. > :25:45.further left than that. The shot tracker sometimes exaggerate it a

:25:46. > :25:52.fraction. Joint leader. Fowler at the 18th. You can see the little

:25:53. > :25:59.stream on the left-hand side. It comes within three or four paces

:26:00. > :26:03.from the back of the green. That is a good one from Fowler and a nice

:26:04. > :26:14.bounce forward. A chance of a birdie. It was a terrific shot. He

:26:15. > :26:34.definitely needs to gather himself together. Oh, it is going down even

:26:35. > :26:44.further away. That is not too bad. A brilliant shot for Molinari. Oh,

:26:45. > :26:45.that was a good effort. It is crucial if you drop a shot at this

:26:46. > :27:17.stage. It is all going wrong everywhere you

:27:18. > :27:26.look. You can see the nerves taking over now. That is what happens in

:27:27. > :27:36.this game. Too much time to think. You have to do it cold blooded Lee.

:27:37. > :27:48.Conscience, competence. Conscious competence. Cold blooded words. A

:27:49. > :27:57.bit of mud on that, it could have an effect, but it might not. But it

:27:58. > :28:07.could affect you mentally. You have to go ahead and play it normally. He

:28:08. > :28:12.has found the fairway. The play here is to play it to the centre of the

:28:13. > :28:17.green, forget the flag if you think the mud is going to affect it. It is

:28:18. > :28:40.not all that far. Has he drilled it too hard? That is

:28:41. > :28:44.all right. This leaderboard is just changing

:28:45. > :28:49.every few minutes at the moment. We now just have one leader, Justin

:28:50. > :29:00.Thomas, who is out in front on 7-under par. Francesco Molinari had

:29:01. > :29:04.a bogey at 16. Matsuyama and Chris Stroud were right up there at the

:29:05. > :29:10.start of the day and are yet to get their rounds firing. Kevin Kisner is

:29:11. > :29:15.in trouble again, he was the overnight leader. Louis Oosthuizen

:29:16. > :29:23.is not having the last round that he would have wanted. Jordan Smith,

:29:24. > :29:30.1-under par. He is alongside Jason Day in the clubhouse. Former open

:29:31. > :29:37.champion Henrik Stenson also finishing level par. Paul Casey was

:29:38. > :29:45.the leading Brit for so long and he finished the day level par and level

:29:46. > :29:49.par for the Championship. Rory McIlroy is 1-over, alongside Ian

:29:50. > :29:59.Poulter. Let's get out on the course. Matsuyama is playing his

:30:00. > :30:06.second on the 13th. That was unlucky. He did not need

:30:07. > :30:16.that. It is all right talking about controlling spin. This is Rickie

:30:17. > :30:21.Fowler. In she goes and he has holed a few good ones coming down the

:30:22. > :30:28.stretch. Home in 32. He did all he could. But a couple of mistakes in

:30:29. > :30:35.earlier rounds have cost him, but it is a fine total of 5-under.

:30:36. > :30:43.Thomas, from the other side of the Green, gets it closer than

:30:44. > :30:53.Matsuyama. They're having their own sort of personal battle. Thomas is

:30:54. > :31:01.one ahead. Here is Thomas. Didn't like his tee shot, but this looks

:31:02. > :31:08.relatively straightforward. It's on to the green, a run out. Is it going

:31:09. > :31:12.to turn a little left to right? Oh, my goodness, it's in the hole.

:31:13. > :31:17.That's a killer blow for Thomas. There's a little bit of daylight now

:31:18. > :31:21.between him and the rest of the top of the leaderboard. He goes to

:31:22. > :31:24.8-under. What time to do a thing like that, Maureen. That's

:31:25. > :31:28.absolutely brilliant. A little chip from the edge of the green,

:31:29. > :31:33.beautifully played. Judges the distance to perfection. That's

:31:34. > :31:38.killer blow. He had a sensational start to the year, won three times

:31:39. > :31:42.before the daffodils had come out and he's been a little bit quiet

:31:43. > :31:48.lately, but my word, he's done some good stuff this week. Still a few

:31:49. > :31:53.holes to go. Matsuyama will have heard those jeers ringing round the

:31:54. > :31:59.course. He won't know whom four. -- those cheers. Things are slipping

:32:00. > :32:07.away for the Japanese player now. That's three consecutive bogeys. He

:32:08. > :32:18.drops down to 5-under. Suddenly, two shot lead for Thomas, over Reed.

:32:19. > :32:24.Chris Stroud, way back at the 12th. Taling off wildly to the right. Some

:32:25. > :32:30.of these putts can make you look rather silly. Chipped up from the

:32:31. > :32:40.edge of the green, not a very good chip in all honesty. Patrick Reed.

:32:41. > :32:49.He's driven into the ideal place here on 15. The caddy likes the

:32:50. > :32:55.swing. Right over the banner. What a lovely shot Maureen, that. Just

:32:56. > :33:05.amazing accuracy. Our Championship leader. Justin Thomas, oh, no, no,

:33:06. > :33:08.no... Mind your feet. That's just what you didn't want! But it may not

:33:09. > :33:24.be too bad. Molinari, he's not out of it yet.

:33:25. > :33:38.His coach will be getting a little nervous. It's safely aboard the

:33:39. > :33:45.green, a long way away. Now if he could finish par, par, he could set

:33:46. > :33:49.a good target. Kisner. He dropped one at the last, so he doesn't want

:33:50. > :33:55.to get that run going. He's 6-under, two behind at the moment.

:33:56. > :34:15.Back to 5-under, that's three back. How quickly things change out here.

:34:16. > :34:21.Just a couple of good shots, or a couple of misplaced irons to the

:34:22. > :34:25.green and suddenly, the leaderboard had five people at 7-under half an

:34:26. > :34:33.hour ago, now we've got one leader at 8-under. Chris Stroud.

:34:34. > :34:41.Focus and concentration are key here. One mental slip and a lot of

:34:42. > :34:51.good, productive work gets wiped out. Matsuyama at the 14th. They

:34:52. > :34:59.have moved the tees up and down. It's been driven this week. I think

:35:00. > :35:07.he's got a fair way would, it will put in ten or 15 yards short of the

:35:08. > :35:11.green, if he really catches it. Miss all the bunkers if you cannot come

:35:12. > :35:17.off the hill, kick down to the left. Right as you look from... Oh, it

:35:18. > :35:22.killed its stone dead. But I think it's OK, yes. Although the flag was

:35:23. > :35:33.near the front it's not an easy pitch to judge. How things change.

:35:34. > :35:41.Chip in, two shot swing and the blink of an eye. Patrick Reed, we've

:35:42. > :35:47.seen electrifying performances from him in the Ryder Cup. What has he

:35:48. > :35:52.got left in his locker? What a delightful touch.

:35:53. > :36:03.He hardly touched that. Just let the club drop, the weight of the club on

:36:04. > :36:10.the ball was enough to do it. Have a look at this chip in from Thomas.

:36:11. > :36:13.Just lobbed it on, you think it can't reach the hole but it kept

:36:14. > :36:18.coming beautifully along. Look at that. Sheer delight. And why not.

:36:19. > :36:41.That was beautiful. The relative calm of 16. Gary

:36:42. > :36:50.Woodland. A tidy par at this most treacherous of holes. There's Chez

:36:51. > :36:56.Reavie for a birdie at the 17th, a double bogey at the last and that's

:36:57. > :37:02.not going to quite reach. A lot of these players are battling just for

:37:03. > :37:06.a good position, if you get a top 15 or 16, you get in automatically for

:37:07. > :37:14.next year's Championship and also collect a good prize. Graham DeLaet.

:37:15. > :37:32.Sung Kang must have driven into trouble. This is his third up to the

:37:33. > :37:41.home green. Yes, well done.

:37:42. > :37:51.APPLAUSE Chez Reavie finishing off. It's

:37:52. > :37:56.amazing how often caddies managed to stand in the way, so you can't see

:37:57. > :38:16.the hole, but we'll know if it goes in. Yes, well done.

:38:17. > :38:23.Well, it's been a bit of a bruising slog round here over the last four

:38:24. > :38:29.days. That's how things stand at the moment. Justin Thomas, a slender one

:38:30. > :38:34.shot lead. Rickie Fowler in the clubhouse at 5-under, that's the

:38:35. > :38:39.target at the moment. Then looking down, 67 by Dustin Johnson, out

:38:40. > :38:48.early in the day. Put him to even par. Molinari at the 17th, the long

:38:49. > :38:56.par-3, this is his second shot. Big swing, very fast, down the hill. Oh,

:38:57. > :39:04.it's a very good putt. That was a dangerous putt from long range. It

:39:05. > :39:16.can only be a par, but a good par. Chris Stroud looking down at this

:39:17. > :39:18.13th green. Flag back left, that once moving left-to-right. We've

:39:19. > :39:22.seen a few down in that collection area. There have been a few little

:39:23. > :39:33.divots down there, you just have to hope you don't find one of them.

:39:34. > :39:51.Now, this is in that deep Bermuda. I like it. Everybody likes it. But can

:39:52. > :40:00.he do it? It's got to be a bold shot.

:40:01. > :40:26.Well, Justin Thomas was out in the final pairing in the US Open earlier

:40:27. > :40:35.in the year and he slumped to a 75, so he'll be hoping to put that

:40:36. > :40:41.experience to good use. Sung Kang, hoping this is the final shot for

:40:42. > :40:52.Home Office PGA Championship. Just sneaks past.

:40:53. > :40:59.Molinari's tee shot at the final hole, he's usually got the

:41:00. > :41:04.straightest of drives. I don't think he likes it. He's found another

:41:05. > :41:07.bunker. He did that at the 16th. Cost him a shot. This is very

:41:08. > :41:23.expensive. But he might get a four. Matsuyama, awkward little second

:41:24. > :41:29.shot. Is he going to bump it in, just roundabout where Thomas's ball

:41:30. > :41:36.is? Just kill a little bit of the speed? Or is he going to airmail it?

:41:37. > :41:44.Up in the air. It's got to be a soft landing. Oh, that's delightful! What

:41:45. > :41:48.a shot. That's was a very bold, nerveless shot after a few little

:41:49. > :42:07.mistakes. Very good. Stroud has a bit more green to work

:42:08. > :42:14.with. It's all about how far up the green he chooses to land this. That

:42:15. > :42:26.one he wants to run out, a little check and grab. Not bad.

:42:27. > :42:37.Great crowds. Everyday we've had 20,000, maybe more. Very colourful

:42:38. > :42:45.gallery. Now, here's our leader. Looks like a putter. Just off the

:42:46. > :42:52.green, up the hill she comes. Has he done it again? My word, what a good

:42:53. > :43:00.effort, Maureen. Yes, I was just beginning to think he was making

:43:01. > :43:05.hard work of that short par-4. Now Kisner, who led this Championship

:43:06. > :43:14.for so much of the time. Now dropped back to three shots behind. Over the

:43:15. > :43:16.big swing. Come round left. That's a very good shot from there. Very well

:43:17. > :43:37.judged indeed. Now Thomas, a little short one for

:43:38. > :43:47.his par. He taps that want end, he remains in the lead. -- he taps that

:43:48. > :43:51.one in, he remains in the lead. Parents, friends and family are all

:43:52. > :43:57.out in the crowd, watching. Gosh, it's a nerve-racking time for them.

:43:58. > :44:00.Now Matsuyama to get a shot back. To get within two, if he could pop this

:44:01. > :44:11.in. That's better. A very good little

:44:12. > :44:16.pitch. He's had a bad run, you see, three shots dropped and 11, 12 and

:44:17. > :44:21.13. Very untidy. He's still in with a shout, although two behind, with

:44:22. > :44:23.holes running out. But all sorts of weird and wonderful things can go on

:44:24. > :44:58.in this game. No, started it too straight. Had to

:44:59. > :45:07.give that at least a couple of inches of Rome. -- row.

:45:08. > :45:27.Patrick Reed, this is a dangerous one as well. He's worried, he is

:45:28. > :45:37.concerned. -- but he is OK. Oosthuizen. Four under. Lovely

:45:38. > :45:40.little shot, checking up nicely. The cheers are getting louder at its

:45:41. > :45:50.centre the hole for an eagle for Louis Oosthuizen. He's up to 6-under

:45:51. > :45:53.par, two behind the leader. Nobody is out of it, really, if those sort

:45:54. > :45:56.of things could happen. Here's Matsuyama at the 15th, par-5,

:45:57. > :46:15.monster hole, this one. Well, he didn't hold back there. He

:46:16. > :46:23.didn't want any great run on that one. He stopped very quickly. Well,

:46:24. > :46:27.Peter, echoes of the back nine at Augusta, with these cheers ringing

:46:28. > :46:31.out. Absolutely, it's jolly. Actually, he's not far from the

:46:32. > :46:39.water and if he really cracks this and get the bounce, he could flirt

:46:40. > :46:46.with the water. He certainly seemed to catch it full on.

:46:47. > :46:53.He's all right, it's a very narrow bit of fairway there. You don't have

:46:54. > :47:04.to be far, as we look down, not far away on the Right there's the water,

:47:05. > :47:09.but OK. Good drive. Molinari on 18. This bunker is about 300 yards from

:47:10. > :47:15.the tee. He's found that. Just hoping now for the heart of the

:47:16. > :47:15.green. No, can't make it all the way back there. Dangerous, dangerous

:47:16. > :47:28.shot. Well, that's how it looks. 8-under

:47:29. > :47:35.for Justin Thompson up at the top there. But pick a winner. How many

:47:36. > :47:41.in the play-off # what are the bets on that?

:47:42. > :48:11.Well, there have been a few people in with chances, but it hasn't

:48:12. > :48:22.worried Chez Reavie, here at the final hole. Trying to attack this

:48:23. > :48:25.back left pin. He's made a pretty good job of it, into the heart of

:48:26. > :48:43.the green. Scott Brown for a birdie at 17th. Go

:48:44. > :48:56.on. Oh, it's so difficult to hold a put. -- to hole putt.

:48:57. > :49:03.Look at those crowds up and down, all the hospitality pavilions on the

:49:04. > :49:10.right, they're all round the course. Huge amount of effort put into this,

:49:11. > :49:17.as all Championships are. And Molinari coming up. He's been up,

:49:18. > :49:23.gone back, if you could just get down in two here, who knows. Well,

:49:24. > :49:26.if he can get down in two Peter, he'll have the clubhouse lead. I

:49:27. > :49:34.don't think it will win it for him, but you never know. Has not missed a

:49:35. > :49:39.cut. He's such a straight player. He had putting woes, didn't hole enough

:49:40. > :49:46.putts really, but he's one of the most accurate of players. Flag right

:49:47. > :49:55.at the back of the green today. Click in the yardage. Just play nice

:49:56. > :50:01.shot. Don't waste your time. Clipped it nicely.

:50:02. > :50:12.Go on, you little Jim Dandy. I'll! They'll be doing all sorts of

:50:13. > :50:24.wonderful things in Rome tonight, or somewhere, if he wins this. -- or

:50:25. > :50:27.cheering, or somewhere. Kisner, trying to ease this down to the

:50:28. > :50:31.front portion of the green. Got it on yesterday. In fact, he's hit

:50:32. > :50:40.nearly the identical shot to yesterday. Well played.

:50:41. > :50:52.What a grand Arena, isn't it? A colourful scene. Birdsong at

:50:53. > :50:57.Eventide. Delightful. You can see there with the pin at the back how

:50:58. > :51:00.close the water is. The red line running round. It's that edge of the

:51:01. > :51:22.hazard. Well, just waiting for his partner

:51:23. > :51:27.to come up. Political correctness, you can't say partner anymore, you

:51:28. > :51:32.say playing companion, or your companion for the day. We always

:51:33. > :51:37.used it years ago say my partner. It didn't mean you were a partner. Just

:51:38. > :51:41.meant you were the person who was playing alongside you. He seems to

:51:42. > :51:49.have had a bit of trouble here. But Molinari is OK.

:51:50. > :51:56.On this new layout here, Molinari sharing the course record with

:51:57. > :52:00.Hideki Matsuyama. Both shot 64, earlier in the week. Sublime golf

:52:01. > :52:03.around this track. We have a look at Chez Reavie, trying to bring his

:52:04. > :52:28.Championship to a close. Never up. 20 club professionals

:52:29. > :52:33.qualify for this Championship, which is actually owned and run by the

:52:34. > :52:37.professional goal that -- professional golfers Association, in

:52:38. > :52:40.conjunction with the Tour, and they have the rights of the Ryder Cup,

:52:41. > :52:44.which is exactly the same in the UK. They work very closely together and

:52:45. > :52:51.in today's world they've become the junior partner to the Tours on both

:52:52. > :52:56.sides of the Atlantic. But it's still quite a feather in your cap to

:52:57. > :53:00.qualify as a club pro, out there giving your lessons and giving

:53:01. > :53:06.lessons to the members and ending up playing here. Matsuyama, second to

:53:07. > :53:09.15, this big swinging right-to-left dogleg. He's got it to the apex of

:53:10. > :53:22.the hole. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear Remy.

:53:23. > :53:29.Where's that? Oh, dear, the flag is front right. You won't have much to

:53:30. > :53:35.work with. That's severely difficult for Matsuyama. No cry of four, I

:53:36. > :53:43.know he doesn't speak English but he might have learned to shout that.

:53:44. > :53:48.Reed, huge putt on 16. I tell you what, that's a good effort, isn't

:53:49. > :53:54.it? That's a tremendous effort. This is the first time we've seen this

:53:55. > :54:03.sort of form from Reed in Majors. Wages to his electrifying

:54:04. > :54:12.performances in the cup. Here we go, Molinari, for a par. Oh, well done.

:54:13. > :54:19.Well done indeed. I don't think it will be quite good enough but what a

:54:20. > :54:25.wonderful four days from Molinari. Just a couple of drops shots in the

:54:26. > :54:35.back nine and there we are, home in 34, 33 at 67, one of the best rounds

:54:36. > :54:45.of today. Thomas, 5-iron. It's huge hitting. That was just a mis-hit.

:54:46. > :54:49.Nothing more, nothing less. I think the nerve ends are getting a bit raw

:54:50. > :54:53.now, Maureen. He's won three events this year. He's no stranger to this.

:54:54. > :55:07.Now, what about this one? Oh, yes, it tiptoed on the green

:55:08. > :55:14.come he's done very well. Very well indeed.

:55:15. > :55:25.Louis Oosthuizen, this is a scary shot. The flag up towards the back.

:55:26. > :55:27.Any kind of little pool on this and it's going to be in danger area.

:55:28. > :55:36.It's going to hang on. Well, his caddy is out with the

:55:37. > :55:55.putter. Which is always a good sign. Kisner, also near enough to the

:55:56. > :56:00.green to use putter. Fallen away a bit, had two bogeys in the last

:56:01. > :56:10.three holes, three bogeys in a complete round. Four birdies. There

:56:11. > :56:14.are two putts from here. Come along, come along, come along. What a

:56:15. > :56:35.beautiful effort. Certainly made use of the lake with

:56:36. > :56:41.green positioning here. I don't know what the poor old members think

:56:42. > :56:50.about it. They are with frogmen, I'm told you can hire a frog man, get

:56:51. > :56:55.your balls retrieved. Good idea. Great theatre, great drama.

:56:56. > :57:01.Something tells me we haven't seen the last of it yet.

:57:02. > :57:04.Very good bunker shot from Chris Stroud out to here. He's left it

:57:05. > :57:12.below the hole. As we go to Patrick Reed, holding

:57:13. > :57:24.that finish. We haven't seen many players get up

:57:25. > :57:30.to the flag on this hole. They are frightened of going too far. A lot

:57:31. > :57:31.of long putting. Now, can he get three? In the bunker, upon the

:57:32. > :57:43.right, good shot out here. Oh, look at the big swing at the

:57:44. > :57:50.end, such a good try. Thomas, nipping one up. A little bit of side

:57:51. > :57:58.spin, bringing it down the slope if he can. He's looking a bit twitchy,

:57:59. > :58:02.Peter. He is, yes, he's suddenly goal -- gone from all cool, calm and

:58:03. > :58:14.collected, too jumpy, jumpy. Coached by his father, Mike. He's

:58:15. > :58:18.the only coach he's ever had. He'll be somewhere in the gallery or the

:58:19. > :58:22.clubhouse, watching. The whole of Japan will be watching this man. But

:58:23. > :58:31.look how this has nestled down. This is all sloughi. -- fluffy, deep

:58:32. > :58:35.fluffy ground. The ball goes right to the bottom. It's so easy to get

:58:36. > :58:40.too much grass between the club and the ball and it goes nowhere. Or you

:58:41. > :58:46.get it a bit sharp and it comes out, runs. I think he may be able to land

:58:47. > :58:53.this on the green and stop it, but difficult. Lap of the gods.

:58:54. > :58:59.He played a trundle and it's trundled pretty well.

:59:00. > :59:12.APPLAUSE Kisner for birdie. Back on the

:59:13. > :59:17.birdie trail. That's more like it, that's what he's been doing all

:59:18. > :59:31.week. He's back to 6-under. He's been very tenacious.

:59:32. > :59:50.He and Kisner are the last match out.

:59:51. > :59:57.Oh, now you make your choice. Those that are in the clubhouse or get

:59:58. > :00:02.into the clubhouse at maybe 7-under, I would think are in with a very

:00:03. > :00:04.good shout, but it's so tight. Could end up with two or three people

:00:05. > :00:29.having to go and play off. PETER ALLISS: A big moment if he

:00:30. > :00:38.could run this one in, mooring. Yes, and you have got Matsuyama and Kevin

:00:39. > :00:43.Kisner on 6-under as well. Molinari is in the clubhouse in 6-under. This

:00:44. > :00:56.would give him a bit of breathing space as he steps onto the 16th tee

:00:57. > :01:06.and that start of the dreaded green mile. It is not a mile. It seems so

:01:07. > :01:10.long, it feels like a mile. You never get nowhere by going too

:01:11. > :01:19.hasty, but he has given this a lot of thought.

:01:20. > :01:27.What a good effort that was. That was a vicious swing towards the end.

:01:28. > :01:58.Horrid. Very unlucky. STUDIO: So Justin Thomas with that

:01:59. > :02:04.1-shot lead over Patrick Reed who had birdies on 14th and 15th to move

:02:05. > :02:11.up to 7-under par. Francesco Molinari is the clubhouse leader.

:02:12. > :02:19.Rickie Fowler is in the clubhouse on 5-under par. 67 today as well.

:02:20. > :02:22.Four and today, taking you to 5-under for the tournament, how

:02:23. > :02:31.pleased are you with that effort on a difficult day? I am happy with it.

:02:32. > :02:36.It would have been better if it was a couple of shots lower, but I put

:02:37. > :02:42.together a good back nine and we will wait and see and what some of

:02:43. > :02:46.the boys finish up. Plenty of golf to be played and I am looking

:02:47. > :02:52.forward to it. JT is out there in front right now. I am not rooting

:02:53. > :02:58.for anyone, but there is a lot of golf to be played. How do you sum up

:02:59. > :03:02.this week for you? It was good, but I felt like I had a good chance this

:03:03. > :03:09.week and this would have been a good place to get my first major. I was

:03:10. > :03:18.swinging well enough. The last three holes put me to fire back yesterday.

:03:19. > :03:26.I had a bad swing on 17. I came up a little short on the water. To have

:03:27. > :03:32.three on 16 and three on 18, that put me to fire back. But it was good

:03:33. > :03:36.to get a decent start and play a good back nine. Thank you very much

:03:37. > :03:49.for your time. Matsuyama for birdie. Has he got

:03:50. > :04:16.anything left in the tank? And he moves to 7-under. Thomas is

:04:17. > :04:24.being pursued by Matsuyama and Patrick Reed. There was no doubt

:04:25. > :04:29.about that one. There was no pussyfooting about. But he was

:04:30. > :04:40.slightly uphill, as we look at Patrick Reed with his long putt on

:04:41. > :04:52.17. That is a tourist in touch. -- terrific touch.

:04:53. > :05:07.The pin is on 34, at least 90 feet. He misread it by about 20. The Caddy

:05:08. > :05:15.looked like he was pointing at the hole in case he had not seen it.

:05:16. > :05:19.This is to save his par. He drops a shot. It is a critical time to give

:05:20. > :05:26.one back to the chorus and the field. Louis Oosthuizen drops back

:05:27. > :05:51.to 5-under. Three out of the lead now and running out of holes.

:05:52. > :06:03.You will have to be 7-under to windows, absolute minimum. Scott

:06:04. > :06:10.Brown. How brave is he going to be? The flag is in a little finger of

:06:11. > :06:16.green at the back left-hand portion. That is pretty decent there. See how

:06:17. > :06:30.the flat of the green is very much in the middle. Graham DeLaet and 17.

:06:31. > :06:37.The ridge upon which the whole is cut is all helping to slope that the

:06:38. > :06:45.ball away. It is a good hole to make three on. It is giving up very few

:06:46. > :06:55.birdies. He had the most exciting runs holes yesterday. He went

:06:56. > :07:01.birdie, eagle, eagle, birdie. It has been a very good week. This is Gary

:07:02. > :07:08.Woodland and this needs a stout nerve.

:07:09. > :07:27.A lovely check. That is a beautiful shot, very dextrous. The second putt

:07:28. > :07:37.at 17. Patrick Reed stays at 7-under. Still has got a sniff.

:07:38. > :07:44.Seven birdies and two bogeys. That is pretty mean golf on this course.

:07:45. > :07:56.The 16th and Matsuyama. It should suit his shot's shape. He has

:07:57. > :08:02.overcooked it. There is a bunker out there, but I think he is even wider

:08:03. > :08:18.than that. That is not going to be too pretty.

:08:19. > :08:36.520 yards, par-4. It does not reach the fairway. But it will not be too

:08:37. > :08:46.tough a shot for him. Kevin Kisner. Just giving that one everything here

:08:47. > :08:47.at 15 to get home in two. The Grand National winner there, it just

:08:48. > :09:08.hurdled the last part of the bunker. Can Chris Stroud do the same? It

:09:09. > :09:20.looks as if he is trying to bring it in from the right. STUDIO: It is

:09:21. > :09:27.still the 24-year-old Justin Thomas out in front. Patrick Reed has

:09:28. > :09:34.sneaked up the leaderboard. Rickie Fowler is in the clubhouse. We heard

:09:35. > :09:39.from him. What a great day for Matt Kuchar. He is in the clubhouse.

:09:40. > :09:46.Another superb round from Jordan Spieth, we heard from him. And Jason

:09:47. > :09:51.Day, that eight on the 18th hurt his chances of a second PGA

:09:52. > :09:56.Championship. What could have been for him?

:09:57. > :10:03.It has been a very strange week, how do you sum up the events of the past

:10:04. > :10:10.four days. I had three good days. I had one bad day. Unfortunately

:10:11. > :10:18.yesterday did not pan out for me. I missed a couple of opportunities. I

:10:19. > :10:22.think if I had hold the putt on five and got three on seven, I would be

:10:23. > :10:33.looking at a different story. You get that momentum going. It's kind

:10:34. > :10:37.of unravels going forward. I had a horseshoe on ten for birdie and it

:10:38. > :10:42.seemed like things were stacked against me even though I was trying

:10:43. > :10:49.my hardest. What happened on 18, I was explaining earlier, I am really

:10:50. > :10:54.good at hitting into the junk. Hitting into the junk I feel I am

:10:55. > :10:57.good at hitting out of it as well. That can be an Achilles' heel

:10:58. > :11:02.because I feel like I can take on shots a lot of people cannot.

:11:03. > :11:08.Unfortunately it did not work out for me and I took a gamble. Kevin

:11:09. > :11:12.Kisner is kept under in the middle of the fairway and has a good shot

:11:13. > :11:19.of making a birdie, so I had to get to the green and get par. If I can

:11:20. > :11:24.get at least 24 or five shots behind, I would have a good chance

:11:25. > :11:30.of going into today's round. Hindsight is the best thing ever.

:11:31. > :11:33.When we spoke at the open you talked about making the progression and

:11:34. > :11:39.working hard and seeing the benefits of it. Do you feel despite yesterday

:11:40. > :11:46.you are much further? Yes, definitely. I definitely see a lot

:11:47. > :11:50.of good things. If I have at least just 1-under two and that in the

:11:51. > :11:55.third round, I am right there. I am just peace in that together and

:11:56. > :12:00.getting the golf back up to where it needs to be and not taking on silly

:12:01. > :12:05.shots is key. Making silly errors has been a downfall for me this

:12:06. > :12:09.year. There has been a lot of great stuff mixed in with silly little

:12:10. > :12:15.errors. If I can really tidy that up, which I have, over the last few

:12:16. > :12:20.weeks it has been solid. I have been looking forward to challenging these

:12:21. > :12:27.guys in the play-offs and hopefully winning one. Thank you very much for

:12:28. > :12:33.your time. He sounded as if he was defending

:12:34. > :12:38.his decision as 18, but he can hit shots that others cannot. And he

:12:39. > :12:44.softened his approach in the end. But it was a very expensive eight

:12:45. > :12:50.for him. Matsuyama chopping out of the rough once again. He seems to

:12:51. > :12:56.have been up to his ankles in it all day. Most of the time he has been

:12:57. > :12:58.going over the green, so another tricky chip out of the Bermuda for

:12:59. > :13:32.Matsuyama. Justin Thomas has got a pretty good

:13:33. > :13:36.angle. That was very odd contact. I am sure he was trying to play for

:13:37. > :13:41.the middle of the green. It did not come out anything like he wanted.

:13:42. > :13:47.Nothing is straightforward at this stage of the game. Certainly Thomas

:13:48. > :14:00.showing a lot of weakness, a couple of iffy holes. In trouble here at

:14:01. > :14:12.16. Today it is more like a kilometre. The third toughest hole.

:14:13. > :14:18.The fifth toughest is 17. The 18 has bushes on the right and trees and

:14:19. > :14:29.rough and an elevated green. Back to Kevin Kisner at 15. A birdie is more

:14:30. > :14:36.realistic than saying this is an eagle putt. It is doing its best.

:14:37. > :14:43.His putting has been outstanding. His reading of the green has been

:14:44. > :14:52.outstanding. I do not want this to be the kiss of death, but the only

:14:53. > :15:01.player in the field yet to 3-putt. The final hole for Patrick Reed. It

:15:02. > :15:20.would not quite do it. It seems a long time ago since we

:15:21. > :15:25.watched Justin Thomas making his way down the first. He had bunker

:15:26. > :15:30.trouble there. He drove into one bunker at the green and then another

:15:31. > :15:39.and then he eventually hold a great 20 putt for a five. He has given

:15:40. > :15:45.himself another bunker problem here. It is a nasty length, about 30

:15:46. > :15:52.yards. Putting a lot of pressure on himself. Last two holes were weak,

:15:53. > :15:56.but this is a difficult up and down. It certainly is. He has seen

:15:57. > :16:03.Matsuyama go over the back and he does not want to do the same thing

:16:04. > :16:09.because it is no picnic coming back. That was very well played. It

:16:10. > :16:17.sounded as if he got close to the ball and that gave him the distance.

:16:18. > :16:25.Right now he looks more comfortable with a part in his hands than

:16:26. > :16:32.anything else. Patrick Reed did indeed find the bunker on the 18th.

:16:33. > :16:41.Well, it was a good line. But he is going to have to rely on a very good

:16:42. > :16:47.chip and putt to get up and down to his four and stay at 7-under. This

:16:48. > :16:53.Bermuda is very fine and the ball tends to nestle down in it. This is

:16:54. > :16:58.not too bad. The grass is still a factor. It will get trapped between

:16:59. > :17:01.the club and the ball. There is always an element of doubt as to how

:17:02. > :17:13.quickly the ball will come off the club. It will hurtle up in the air,

:17:14. > :17:28.so he will be trying to pitch this 4-8 feet short of the Cup. Not bad.

:17:29. > :17:50.Kevin Kisner. Oh, yes. Just one back now. We have got Thomas on 8-under.

:17:51. > :17:51.Hideki Matsuyama on seven, Kevin Kisner on seven, Patrick Reed on

:17:52. > :18:08.7-under. This is where it comes down to what

:18:09. > :18:13.you have got in your stomach. They are all playing now just to win.

:18:14. > :18:20.Nothing like having a good week and coming second. These guys are in it

:18:21. > :18:25.to win it. You have got to keep your nerve, concentrate, control. Do not

:18:26. > :18:30.rush a single shot. The bits that matter now are not the bits you can

:18:31. > :18:35.practice. You have just got to grind it out and go through this and that

:18:36. > :18:40.is what we were saying earlier. Thomas was in the final group in the

:18:41. > :18:45.US open and he will have learned from that experience. He crumbled to

:18:46. > :18:50.a 75 that day. Kevin Kisner squandered a three shot lead on the

:18:51. > :18:53.back nine of the Arnold Palmer invitation as well. So he has been

:18:54. > :19:03.through it. These are priceless experiences. Yes, indeed. You go on

:19:04. > :19:10.the putting green when you are a kid and imagine six feet for the open,

:19:11. > :19:16.but the real thing is different. That was brilliantly done. That was

:19:17. > :19:22.absolutely fantastic. He looks so comfortable with the part in his

:19:23. > :19:33.hand. That could well have been key. He puts his nose in front. Two pars

:19:34. > :19:39.could do it for him. So hard to squeeze a birdie out of the last

:19:40. > :19:45.two. Matsuyama and Kevin Kisner are looking unlikely to birdie 18.

:19:46. > :19:48.Matsuyama has got to make this if he wants to keep the hopes alive of a

:19:49. > :20:00.whole nation. This has to go in. He has got the line pointing around

:20:01. > :20:23.the left edge. He usually bounces the putter to get

:20:24. > :20:30.the tension out of his hands. We have seen some horseshoes, Maureen.

:20:31. > :20:42.These are tournament holes, only four inches, not four and a quarter.

:20:43. > :20:47.I heard somebody called them Elvis's the other day, return to sender! It

:20:48. > :21:00.just goes right round. That is brutal. It is like they have coated

:21:01. > :21:03.the holes with Teflon or something. Matsuyama back to six. Patrick Reed

:21:04. > :21:18.is in trouble. Here he is. An odd choice of shot. A very lofted

:21:19. > :21:24.club. I thought he might have needed something that would have chased it

:21:25. > :21:29.out and knocked it to run out. He hit it quite high, didn't he?

:21:30. > :21:46.Interesting. Certainly not the result he was after. I wish I had

:21:47. > :21:58.done else. Kevin Kisner, the man who refuses to go away.

:21:59. > :22:12.Well, he has done the first bit, he has found the fairway. See where his

:22:13. > :22:14.ball is in relation to the bunker. The difference in distance between

:22:15. > :22:22.Thomas and Kevin Kisner is remarkable. There is only one shot

:22:23. > :22:27.separating them. It is all about controlling the ball flight and you

:22:28. > :22:32.can only control your own. But this place is a real battle for the

:22:33. > :22:36.players with themselves. They have enough to worry about with their own

:22:37. > :22:45.games, never mind what their opponents are doing.

:22:46. > :22:54.Some players look at the leaderboard, some do not. Some think

:22:55. > :22:57.if you do not look at the leaderboard, you are scared. Others

:22:58. > :23:06.say if you look at them, you are relishing the fight. If you look at

:23:07. > :23:13.them you are terrified. No, you relished the fight.

:23:14. > :23:26.A big shot for Thomas. He has hit a few dodgy ones on the last three

:23:27. > :23:36.holes. The final putt. It is going to be a final bogey for Patrick

:23:37. > :23:42.Reed. That will drop him to 6-under. A little bit more breathing space

:23:43. > :23:51.potentially for this man. This is the one danger shot. It is tight.

:23:52. > :24:00.But it looks pretty good. Has he got the distance? He has drawn it in, an

:24:01. > :24:04.absolute beauty from Justin Thomas. He steadied the ship, held his

:24:05. > :24:15.nerve. He has got what it takes maybe. That was a class shot.

:24:16. > :24:25.Everything on the line there. Outcome is his favourite club now.

:24:26. > :24:32.His caddy is sweating a bit. I am not surprised, it is very hot, very

:24:33. > :24:44.humid. The sun is popping out now and again. Back up to 18. This for a

:24:45. > :24:50.67 for Reid. And a final total of 6-under. Joining Francesco Molinari

:24:51. > :24:59.who is already in the clubhouse on 6-under. Hideki Matsuyama has to

:25:00. > :25:00.throw the conservative game plan out of the window if he wants to win

:25:01. > :25:20.this major. It is a much more difficult pain for

:25:21. > :25:28.him to get at with the flight. Advantage Thomas, you would have to

:25:29. > :25:32.say. He has pretty much hit it sideways for two days. That was not

:25:33. > :25:42.too bad shot. It must be difficult for him to it going. STUDIO: Paul

:25:43. > :25:47.Casey started the major season with a fifth place at Augusta. He has had

:25:48. > :25:54.a consistent season. It was pretty good in the first two rounds. He

:25:55. > :25:58.went into the final day level par. Three birdies and three bogeys

:25:59. > :26:03.today. He finished the Championship on level par.

:26:04. > :26:07.How much of your play this week were you proud of with regards to

:26:08. > :26:13.grinding it out in those conditions? It was good. I feel I am always good

:26:14. > :26:18.on that front. This has probably been the major that has been right

:26:19. > :26:24.at the edge of all of them, which is where for most of them. If people

:26:25. > :26:31.are still watching, holes like 17 will be pivotal today. We have no

:26:32. > :26:36.clue how you can get it close there. Three is a wonderful score. I am

:26:37. > :26:39.happy with the way I grounded it out, but it is a cause that

:26:40. > :26:44.highlights ball striking and you have to be on top of it and I was

:26:45. > :26:51.not. You mentioned 17, but what about 16 and 18? 16 is pretty

:26:52. > :26:56.generous off the tee and it is a big green. You should not get into too

:26:57. > :26:59.much trouble. It is the bunker on the right, and if you go in there it

:27:00. > :27:07.will be difficult to get to the green. 18 has a pent-up way that on

:27:08. > :27:12.the left and even I almost dumped it in the hazard over the green from

:27:13. > :27:22.the middle of the fairway. 18 is a very difficult hole. It is a tough

:27:23. > :27:29.stretch. You are picking up pars on the field. If a guy makes a birdie

:27:30. > :27:33.on one of those, he will leapfrog guys. Those really are pivotal holes

:27:34. > :27:51.this week. Thank you very much. Well, here they are out in the

:27:52. > :27:56.cauldron of competition. This is what all the hours of practice are

:27:57. > :27:58.for, all those hours in the gym, just to have a shot at winning one

:27:59. > :28:16.of these Majors. Kevin Kisner into 16. He is going in

:28:17. > :28:23.with so much club. It makes it a bigger dogleg. Just unable to get

:28:24. > :28:31.near the pain. Using a three or a four ire by the looks of things. So

:28:32. > :28:32.much disadvantage. We saw Louis Oosthuizen misread it by 15 feet

:28:33. > :28:48.from there. Just three matches left on the

:28:49. > :28:58.course now. Graham DeLaet finished with 69 for a total of 4-under. He

:28:59. > :29:01.was playing with Patrick Reed. Hideki Matsuyama is going to prowl

:29:02. > :29:18.around this putt. You have got to come along that

:29:19. > :29:27.spine which is not going to make his life very simple. PETER ALLISS:

:29:28. > :29:33.Great tension as we come to the end of the Championship. But will there

:29:34. > :29:39.be another twist? There is still danger lurking. Remember Jason Day

:29:40. > :29:51.hit eight at the last hole yesterday when they were in full flow. Things

:29:52. > :30:06.can happen, stupid things. Matsuyama has missed a couple of short putts.

:30:07. > :30:12.Along putt up the hill. There are all sorts of Regis. It is doing very

:30:13. > :30:31.well. Beautifully done. A great cheer rings out. Something

:30:32. > :30:37.must have happened somewhere. That's three, par for Matsuyama. You see

:30:38. > :30:51.the back nine. Three rather clumsy bogeys. Cost him dear.

:30:52. > :30:59.After that absolutely stunning tee shot, this would give him a bit of

:31:00. > :31:06.breathing space at the 18, a tough hole. For two. And he must have done

:31:07. > :31:17.it... He has! Absolutely fantastic. 9-under par. Needed it, and he got

:31:18. > :31:23.it. I think he knows he's almost there, but he's still got a hole to

:31:24. > :31:31.go. It's a look on his face, he snatched it down as if to say, yes!

:31:32. > :31:42.This is where the nerves take over. The calmness, the golfing brain,

:31:43. > :31:49.clicks in. Do I play it for five? Looking at the tee shot, this is as

:31:50. > :31:53.good a shot as you will ever see. Drew it into the flag, a lot of

:31:54. > :31:58.players play to the right of it, using the contour. The water only

:31:59. > :32:02.five yards left of the pin. Left himself one of the slightly easier

:32:03. > :32:05.putts. Had to keep the speed up otherwise it would dive to the left

:32:06. > :32:13.and it had enough pace took hold the line. Oh, what a couple of hours'

:32:14. > :32:19.play it's been. Here's another look at it. Watch the crowd. See how

:32:20. > :32:28.close the water is. And oh... Superb. He may well look back at the

:32:29. > :32:33.ten, pinged about in the trees and his putt hung on the lip for five or

:32:34. > :32:38.six seconds before it toppled in. Well, all the cards are in his hands

:32:39. > :32:45.now. Absolutely, yeah. Oosthuizen had a chance but he's been a bit

:32:46. > :32:52.sloppy, a couple of holes. Everyone can say, I should have done this.

:32:53. > :32:59.Not too shabby! Dear old Louis. Suddenly, the whole arena has come

:33:00. > :33:03.to life. It's been a pretty dull affair up until about certainly two

:33:04. > :33:11.hours ago, when you came on the air. Before that, it was very dull. Now,

:33:12. > :33:15.people have started Holding putts and it's getting great. The key is

:33:16. > :33:21.to find the fairway, Little River on the rest, bunker on the right.

:33:22. > :33:32.That's how he plays. He's looking anxious. Well, I don't know if that

:33:33. > :33:37.pitched in the far end of the bunker will stop he's pointing at it, it's

:33:38. > :33:42.in there. I don't know why he did that well, if it doesn't work out

:33:43. > :33:46.where we can all say where he went wrong. It's gone up against the lip,

:33:47. > :33:53.he'll do well to reach the green there. Well, he's got everyone in

:33:54. > :34:03.check, but it's not Czech mates, yet. You say, what would Bilko do,

:34:04. > :34:09.what would Jack Nicklaus do. The greatest finisher of all time. This

:34:10. > :34:14.man is not doing too bad, Kisner. What about this for a putt? Usain

:34:15. > :34:20.Bolt could get up a bit of speed over that distance but look at it go

:34:21. > :34:26.over there. So difficult to read, Ken. I don't know why it's slow

:34:27. > :34:36.slopes, what is it? You can see the slopes, quite bold slopes, plus the

:34:37. > :34:40.speed of the greens. Matsuyama. He's looked pretty disgusted at almost

:34:41. > :34:46.every shot he's hit on this inward nine. It's in trouble, I think. It

:34:47. > :34:54.could be in the stream. It could be in the watery grave down there. Oh,

:34:55. > :35:01.how about this woman? How about this little chip! Jeepers creepers. My

:35:02. > :35:06.dear old friend Dave Thomas would have had nightmares about this for

:35:07. > :35:10.ever more. Come on, show is what you're made of, show was the shot

:35:11. > :35:16.that made you famous... And he has! God dammit, he has! Would you

:35:17. > :35:21.believe, that's the shot of the week. No doubt about it.

:35:22. > :35:29.APPLAUSE Grayson. Grayson Murray, the old

:35:30. > :35:36.theatrical. The old Shakespearean actor. I don't know what all those

:35:37. > :35:40.buildings are, I'm sure that nothing to do with the golf course. They may

:35:41. > :35:44.well be, of course, but it's a wonderful setting. I think that's

:35:45. > :35:52.all hospitality, part of the gravy train. Do you think so? Oh, yeah.

:35:53. > :35:58.The birds are having a good time as well. After that fantastic pitch

:35:59. > :36:06.he's potted it, well done. For a 75, what a grandstand finish for 75.

:36:07. > :36:16.Louis ran in, birdied the last to manage that. Kisner, 7-under, he

:36:17. > :36:19.really needs to make this. He's still got 17 to play. He's two

:36:20. > :36:37.behind. Now he's three behind. Justin Thomas, 9-under, a big group

:36:38. > :36:40.of players at 6-under, so he's in super shape. Doesn't need to do

:36:41. > :36:46.anything stupid. But he will not know that Kisner has dropped a

:36:47. > :36:50.stroke. The great cheer that must have run out when Murray pitched

:36:51. > :36:55.over the little stream at the last, as somebody done something, somebody

:36:56. > :37:06.holed for three, what's going on? It just make sure you don't take more

:37:07. > :37:08.than five. The hazard line is a long way from the water hazard, you may

:37:09. > :37:22.not get lucky. It looks like he's in the water,

:37:23. > :37:33.Ken. Or as good as dammit. Still striding out. There we are, oh. In

:37:34. > :37:42.the water. Pitched there and went backwards. Oh, that's... Natural

:37:43. > :37:46.hazards, they can drop two clubs either side but that's not going to

:37:47. > :37:51.be good for him anymore because that's his chance of winning over.

:37:52. > :38:01.Look at the people. Huge, isn't it? Very impressive. This lad started

:38:02. > :38:08.the year with a couple of victories, including a round of 59 at the Sony

:38:09. > :38:14.Open, 63 at the US Open. He's a real talent. He's relatively new into the

:38:15. > :38:20.world of, at this level, isn't it? I don't know whether he's been playing

:38:21. > :38:24.college games, you know, the Ben Hogan Tour or whatever, but he's

:38:25. > :38:31.certainly burst onto the big time in a big way. Oh, yeah, hit a couple of

:38:32. > :38:36.wood shots into Erin Hills like no 1's ever seen before. So powerful.

:38:37. > :38:40.He's too near the lip to have a shy, so his option of going for the green

:38:41. > :38:46.is eradicated, so it probably makes it easier for him, although he won't

:38:47. > :38:51.think so. There's nothing to think he wants nothing more than an eight

:38:52. > :38:55.or 9-iron and hit it 120 yards up the fairway. He's been reasonably

:38:56. > :39:02.aggressive, Peter. I know, it looks as if he's got... That looked like a

:39:03. > :39:06.7-iron. If it is and it's up, it's a huge risk. No need, you see. All

:39:07. > :39:11.sorts of things can happen. You could put it in the water on the

:39:12. > :39:16.left and fiddle about. That rough there is particularly deep. You can

:39:17. > :39:20.see the ball dive in. It's a little bit longer than Summerhays. It's

:39:21. > :39:25.unnecessary. But he doesn't know Kisner has dropped a stroke. There's

:39:26. > :39:27.still no excuse at this level in modern-day golf, you've got to think

:39:28. > :39:40.clearer than that. It's been a good four days, really,

:39:41. > :39:44.on balance. I'm sorry not more of the European players did better.

:39:45. > :39:49.There were a lot of them, a lot of our best people were away early,

:39:50. > :39:57.before the weekend. This is the third shot now, Matsuyama. Had to

:39:58. > :40:03.pick it out of the water. He's had to drop it there, but standing well

:40:04. > :40:14.below the ball, which just adds to your concerns.

:40:15. > :40:21.He probably will be greedy, but it's a dangerous shot to be greedy with,

:40:22. > :40:36.pin back left, water, pin at the back.

:40:37. > :40:51.That was a better swing and balance and pose. And there it is. This. --

:40:52. > :40:55.fizzer. He's worried it's gone over the back and gone in the water.

:40:56. > :41:00.Kisner at 6-under, needs a little magic. That's a Pearl, if he's got

:41:01. > :41:04.the right distance this is really good. Should turn towards the cup a

:41:05. > :41:09.little. It's a super shot. APPLAUSE

:41:10. > :41:13.Just sits the ball in flatter, doesn't it? Doesn't get the grip of

:41:14. > :41:18.the power hitters. He's a nice player though, Ken. I mean, the

:41:19. > :41:19.world is full of nice players now, but how many will end up being great

:41:20. > :41:27.players, I don't know. This is not all over yet, Peter. It

:41:28. > :41:40.certainly isn't. He's going to have a real inspection

:41:41. > :41:42.of the Ricketts, just how bravely is going to dare to be. -- inspection

:41:43. > :41:55.of the wicket. It's sitting right down but not far

:41:56. > :41:59.to go. There's a nice reception as he walks onto the green to see where

:42:00. > :42:04.he's got to land the ball. He really is in the driving seat here, with

:42:05. > :42:12.the lead he's got. But you don't have to be... There's no need to be

:42:13. > :42:16.a hero now. You just get the done. All he's got to be careful of is

:42:17. > :42:19.coming out of the rough, dragging it a little left into the water or

:42:20. > :42:23.trying to get it right over the flag and going over the back of the

:42:24. > :42:26.green. He just needs to find the putting surface. It's about six

:42:27. > :42:30.yards before the cut and you're tempted to get it up there and in

:42:31. > :42:33.doing that you can go too far particularly coming out of the

:42:34. > :42:44.rough. Jimmie Johnson, who's been around a long time, used to caddy

:42:45. > :42:47.for Nick Price, his caddy. It's nice to see some of the older caddies.

:42:48. > :42:50.You must be getting on for 60, I suppose. They were such an integral

:42:51. > :42:56.part of the game. The new caddies are so wonderful, they come from all

:42:57. > :43:01.around the world. Doctors, lawyers, whatever, they've all been to

:43:02. > :43:10.university. Here we go, this is it now.

:43:11. > :43:37.Nice easy swing. And a very nice result. Safe, cushy. Cushty, my old

:43:38. > :43:43.mate used to call it cushty, Ryan, the speedway boy, cushty, cushty.

:43:44. > :43:50.That was very smartly played wasn't it? Wasn't it? Sensible. Look at

:43:51. > :43:55.that crowd, it's fantastic. This has been a great Championship. Gone are

:43:56. > :44:03.the days of it being the Cinderella. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:44:04. > :44:10.Look at that, fabulous. From Japan, Hideki Matsuyama.

:44:11. > :44:20.APPLAUSE Not Japan's day, yet. From Texas,

:44:21. > :44:24.Justin Thomas. Snowmail from Japan has won a major Championship,

:44:25. > :44:31.Ledecky has been second once before, it looks like he will finish second

:44:32. > :44:35.once again, perhaps -- Hideki The women have dominated up but the

:44:36. > :44:43.men haven't got into the arena of one of the Majors. One of the great

:44:44. > :44:47.lady golfers, she is retiring from the game. She won major

:44:48. > :44:50.Championships in the ladies. She is retiring I think after the Evian

:44:51. > :44:54.Championship, which is a couple of weeks away. Always one of my

:44:55. > :44:59.favourites. They've had some wonderful players. The women have

:45:00. > :45:03.been very lucky, and the men have as well. You know, when you look down

:45:04. > :45:07.the list of who's won this Championship. Which was started by

:45:08. > :45:12.the professional golfers' Association in the early 1900,

:45:13. > :45:18.suppose. And it's grown in stature over the last 20 years. It was

:45:19. > :45:21.sinking down a bit and people were talking about let's have another

:45:22. > :45:25.major, let's make a fifth or have the Canadian open in, or something

:45:26. > :45:31.and I'm glad that sort of has gone away a bit at the moment. Matsuyama

:45:32. > :45:35.with a tricky little shot. A lot of players might blade it, hit it in

:45:36. > :45:41.the centre of the ball with a flange. There's Rickie Fowler, with

:45:42. > :45:43.his girlfriend. He'll be pleased to see his great mate Justin Thomas

:45:44. > :45:53.win, but he's not there yet. Good old Ricky. I concede Jordan Spieth,

:45:54. > :45:57.is he behind him, Jordan? Yeah. His hat back to front with the blue

:45:58. > :46:02.shirt on. Mixing with the hoi polloi! It's a close-knit community.

:46:03. > :46:08.They like to see their bodies doing well. Good find by the cameraman.

:46:09. > :46:15.Back to the business, he has to roll this to the hole side. Looks a

:46:16. > :46:21.square grip on that putter, Ken. One of those modern, slightly thicker

:46:22. > :46:23.grips. This is to remain at 6-under and tied for second. I think he's

:46:24. > :46:45.going to loft it. Tricky. Just wanted a bit more fluff! Oh,

:46:46. > :46:55.he's making a right chord's ear of this, was -- or is it a pig's ear?

:46:56. > :47:01.Making a mess of it. He's got it on the back level, pretty slick from

:47:02. > :47:06.this side but it's manageable. I don't think he's got anything to

:47:07. > :47:12.worry about now, unless, has to be more than a minor miracle. That's

:47:13. > :47:12.getting very nicely to the hole side. Sweetly done.

:47:13. > :47:30.APPLAUSE Our computer says Kisner has made a

:47:31. > :47:33.three at the 17th, so he remains at 6-under. He didn't hole that long

:47:34. > :47:40.putt. The best he's likely to finish, a few birdies, 7-under. So

:47:41. > :48:03.the computer is helping you, Ken. Well done, a disappointing way to

:48:04. > :48:09.finish for Matsuyama. Five bogeys on his back nine, a round of 72, and up

:48:10. > :48:15.and down day. Mr couple of shorties, didn't he? Yes, unfortunately and

:48:16. > :48:18.that I fancy will be the winning putt.

:48:19. > :48:21.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE And how well he's played. Still a

:48:22. > :48:31.couple out on the course. But I don't think they can alter the fact

:48:32. > :48:37.that Justin has won this year's PGA Championship. We just have to wait

:48:38. > :48:46.for the final pair to come up. This is dad. His father, what a year he's

:48:47. > :48:55.had. Father might, a great family, love their golf, and emotional seen

:48:56. > :49:04.her now. -- emotional scenes here now. Well done indeed.

:49:05. > :49:25.Added 68, I think checkmate. -- his dad is 68. I think it's checkmate.

:49:26. > :49:41.Here's Ricky. Rickie Fowler, Spieth, to strips down to their civvies.

:49:42. > :49:50.The famous Wanamaker Trophy will be one.

:49:51. > :49:56.Here's a look at his car. Number ten was the winner. It could have gone

:49:57. > :50:06.anywhere, came back on the fairway and got a birdie. Counted to the 15

:50:07. > :50:16.before it dropped into the putt. Back to the serenity of the 17th.

:50:17. > :50:24.Kisner, who started... Oh, it's not going to make it. It got exciting

:50:25. > :50:28.there, for about four feet. It's a lifetime dream, we all had it as we

:50:29. > :50:36.were growing up. One of the big ones. One of the big ones. Just

:50:37. > :50:39.stand you above the crowd. He holed his putt, Kisner, it's virtually all

:50:40. > :50:44.over now but still big prize money to play for. Kisner wants to get a

:50:45. > :50:53.four at worst at this final hole. And a good start. 6-under, if he

:50:54. > :50:57.holds his second shot he gets to 8-under, it's the one in 100

:50:58. > :51:06.million, but you never know. Here's the winning putt again. Yes!

:51:07. > :51:16.Very, very well done. His father, Mike, coach and best friend and

:51:17. > :51:22.Buddy, can you believe it? It's terrific. I think they're absolutely

:51:23. > :51:34.wonderful. All his pals, Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, I think it's

:51:35. > :51:46.wonderful. I wish they were ours. You'd be a proud dad, wouldn't you?

:51:47. > :51:53.And back they go, over the bridge. Got to check the card out, Peter.

:51:54. > :51:59.Mistakes have been made in the past. To right, both on the men's and

:52:00. > :52:05.women's Tour. Jackie Pom a little while ago lost the US ladies open,

:52:06. > :52:20.going back 50 years or so. They were painful memories.

:52:21. > :52:28.Made three. Quite a long walk, isn't it, back the facilities. Why Babin

:52:29. > :52:33.the enquiry Kisner made on the 17th, so he knows he's got to make two to

:52:34. > :52:40.catch. Got to hole his second shot. Well, silly things have happened.

:52:41. > :52:57.More stairs to climb. My goodness. Over the bridge.

:52:58. > :53:04.Meanwhile, Ken. At the 80s, the sun is setting, crowds moving around.

:53:05. > :53:15.There's one more stroke to be made to crown Justin Thomas as the PGA

:53:16. > :53:19.Championship, 2017. We were blessed today, no thunderstorm. It was a

:53:20. > :53:22.possibility. It would have spoiled things, everyone hanging around, but

:53:23. > :53:28.they'll get a conclusion and it looks like a good champion. The next

:53:29. > :53:35.generation of player. No play offs, no thunder, no stoppages. The number

:53:36. > :53:45.of players came alive over the last 12 holes. No one more so than

:53:46. > :53:50.Francesco Molinari, just slipped, just dropped a shot in the last

:53:51. > :53:56.three. If you've got one or maybe two less, he'd have set a very good

:53:57. > :54:01.target. Well done, Molinari. That's the spot they go to, sit at the

:54:02. > :54:10.table, check and sign and double-check that everything is OK.

:54:11. > :54:13.Sometimes bring a caddy in, or someone, just to make sure there is

:54:14. > :54:23.no one making a silly mistake. Just to give them a hand. His caddy, he's

:54:24. > :54:27.going to remember the holes now. But his scores, three, five, four,

:54:28. > :54:35.three, 34, go through the whole card. He's doing it in his head, a

:54:36. > :54:46.little piece of paper on the other scorecard has his numbers on. He --

:54:47. > :54:56.Hideki Matsuyama, his face tells another story. Now then, here we go,

:54:57. > :55:01.final pair, Stroud and Kisner. This is Stroud. Second shot. Let it be a

:55:02. > :55:22.good one. It's away. The cat box had better results in

:55:23. > :55:28.finishing in a long scruff, at least he can get a consistent grip on it.

:55:29. > :55:30.There was one, Peter, a pill shot, he's got to chase it up the tear. He

:55:31. > :55:45.has to be thinking just one thing. Put it in the water, oh, in the

:55:46. > :55:51.water, there it goes, in a babbling brook by a shady nook. Oh dear, oh

:55:52. > :55:56.dear, that's it, folks. Congratulations, congratulations,

:55:57. > :56:11.you've done it. Nobody can catch you now. A little bit of an anti-climax,

:56:12. > :56:19.coming up there, very good. Done an excellent job.

:56:20. > :56:25.The important thing is they have to put their watch on soap when they

:56:26. > :56:33.come to the presentation they can flash it around a little bit. --

:56:34. > :56:36.they have to put their watch on. I think that's a very spectacular

:56:37. > :56:41.scene. I don't think I've seen anywhere more packs, perhaps the

:56:42. > :56:45.Open at Hoylake when the stands were huddled around the 18th green.

:56:46. > :56:49.There's a huge crowd, they are staying on. To see the climax of the

:56:50. > :57:00.whole event. APPLAUSE

:57:01. > :57:08.A lovely warm reception for both these players. Kisner had to take a

:57:09. > :57:15.chance. He was trying to shape into an awkward pin, it was either in,

:57:16. > :57:22.or. It was going to cost a lot of money, 7-under, he was in second

:57:23. > :57:32.spot. 6-under, I should say. 6-under, yeah. 6-under.

:57:33. > :57:38.Over to do all the interviews, which there will be dozens to do. There

:57:39. > :57:44.will be a special order which the host broadcaster, wishing to catch

:57:45. > :57:55.up with you. A bit of a bunfight. Nitties. -- it is. Don't usually see

:57:56. > :58:00.the cameraman polishing up the lens! I don't think I've ever seen more

:58:01. > :58:01.buildings, if they are all hospitality they must have done very

:58:02. > :58:23.well. Well, one in the water, one in the

:58:24. > :58:33.bunker. I think it's probably Chris Stroud to play first. A relative

:58:34. > :58:37.ease -- relatively easy bunker shot, the only thing is the ball can run

:58:38. > :58:42.away from you. When you get about six feet past. He's two and. -- he's

:58:43. > :59:17.currently two under. Oh, when he didn't want it to stop

:59:18. > :59:25.he got an enormous amount of it. Why a bad run, a bogey at the 17th. Like

:59:26. > :59:31.a lot of rounds there's been snakes and ladders. Some good golf coming

:59:32. > :59:37.up though, Ken, if you're interested in following the game. I don't know,

:59:38. > :59:42.we're not given much chance in the Solheim Cup but I think we might do

:59:43. > :59:47.well there. We've got quite a good team, quite a young team. Women

:59:48. > :59:56.professionals playing the Americans. Next week, I think, isn't it?

:59:57. > :00:00.18-20th August. It will be interesting. You've got the Dunhill,

:00:01. > :00:13.coming up at St Andrews. Some interesting stuff.

:00:14. > :00:18.Doing interviews. I don't know what we're looking at here, looks like

:00:19. > :00:24.the start of an interview. He's telling the order of what he's

:00:25. > :00:29.doing. Informing him. It's nice to see a smile. I think he's a bit

:00:30. > :00:30.overwhelmed at the moment. Hello. It's the president of the United

:00:31. > :00:47.States... ! Is that you, Donald! I think the Americans have wonderful

:00:48. > :01:03.names for the clubs. We do not have it in the UK. Like Quail Hollow. We

:01:04. > :01:06.don't have many romantic names. Like the Australian Wine and the New

:01:07. > :01:16.Zealand wine, they think of the most wonderfully exotic names. Kevin

:01:17. > :01:22.Kisner has taken a penalty drop. He dropped it and it rolled back. He

:01:23. > :01:32.has not done very well. He did Pooley. Poorly.

:01:33. > :01:42.What is going to happen here? This is very much an anti-climax. Every

:01:43. > :01:52.shot now is costing him about 100,000. It is not a happy thought.

:01:53. > :02:00.But there is the winner. Justin Thomas. How well he has played

:02:01. > :02:07.through the awful days. I wonder what the future holds for him, Ken.

:02:08. > :02:16.He had a sensational 2017. He is a fantastic player. As we have seen,

:02:17. > :02:24.he cannot get 320 yards no problem at all. Very aggressive. That is

:02:25. > :02:36.only about 10.5 stone. One of my legs ways that! Come on now,

:02:37. > :02:41.finished in a blaze of glory. Let's be having you.

:02:42. > :03:24.A disappointing back nine holes. Once tied for the lead, back in 40.

:03:25. > :03:30.Sorry, 42. Yes, 76. This is for a bogey five.

:03:31. > :03:52.Looks good. No! As so many have done. Just missed out. Kevin Kisner

:03:53. > :04:11.out in 36. He had three birdies and three bogeys on the back nine.

:04:12. > :04:21.This is costing him some money, Peter. I shudder to think. I shudder

:04:22. > :04:33.to think how much this 18th hole has cost them both. It is all over. You

:04:34. > :04:48.have had your good moments. Not great moments. A couple of 67s. Four

:04:49. > :04:54.days to remember. It has been a fabulous week. We have seen some

:04:55. > :05:01.superb golf. A very tough course at times. Then the rain softened them

:05:02. > :05:07.up. There were some birdies, but very few bogey free round. In a

:05:08. > :05:13.couple of years, there will be a rearranged schedule. They will start

:05:14. > :05:19.off with the Masters in April, they will be moving this to me and then

:05:20. > :05:25.the US open in June and our open will be in July, the last one of the

:05:26. > :05:29.year. It will all be compressed between April or July. Whether that

:05:30. > :05:36.is good or not I don't know. But they are giving that a try. Rory

:05:37. > :05:47.McIlroy, a decent round today, 68, but was too far behind. Jordan

:05:48. > :05:55.Spieth was the same. JB Holmes, 72 by him at plus two. A few lower

:05:56. > :06:06.scores today because it was a little easier. 14 and 15 gave a lot of

:06:07. > :06:13.birdies away. You have to say the course has been the winner this

:06:14. > :06:17.week. No doubt about it. It was the trickiness of the greens, you could

:06:18. > :06:24.not get close to the flag unless it was a perfect shot. And the Bermuda

:06:25. > :06:28.rough, the problems of getting into that, controlling the ball near the

:06:29. > :06:36.green. Rory McIlroy said in one of his interviews it is an examination

:06:37. > :06:43.paper that a lot of players failed to pass. That is interesting in this

:06:44. > :06:48.day and age when golf courses are getting longer and longer. This is a

:06:49. > :06:53.monster. They don't have to be this length really. A good week for

:06:54. > :07:10.Francesco Molinari, finishing runner up. I still love you, dad. Telephone

:07:11. > :07:15.calls, I keep getting letters and calls from people I do not even

:07:16. > :07:24.know. Tweets and Facebook and Snapchat and all the bits and pieces

:07:25. > :07:28.kids do these days. After clattering about in the trees, this happened at

:07:29. > :07:35.the 10th. This was his birdie chance. He was lucky with his tee

:07:36. > :07:41.shot. If the ball takes more than ten seconds to fall in, it will

:07:42. > :07:50.count as one. He wanders away and it fell in. That was the turning point.

:07:51. > :08:02.He birdied the ninth and tenth. At the 13th he pulled a shot. Then he

:08:03. > :08:10.came out with a bit of a run. We got the feeling then that it may be was

:08:11. > :08:15.his day. At the 17th after an unbelievable tee-shot... A good tee

:08:16. > :08:30.shot. That put the icing on the cake. Then he had umpteen putts from

:08:31. > :08:42.here. He tickled it down and finished with a bogey five. But it

:08:43. > :08:46.was good enough. There he is, the short putt to win a major

:08:47. > :08:51.Championship and he did it in fine style. We are going to see a lot

:08:52. > :08:57.more of him I am sure over the coming years. It was exciting to

:08:58. > :09:05.watch the way he played. His dad is happy, his mark his happy. -- his

:09:06. > :09:13.mum is happy. Good friends with Jordan Spieth. It will be his turn

:09:14. > :09:19.soon. It will not be too long, but he has got to wait until next April.

:09:20. > :09:31.It will be a long time to wait. Now the presentation.

:09:32. > :09:46.Bill McAtee is interviewing the winner. Ladies and gentlemen, please

:09:47. > :09:55.welcome the President of the PGA of America, Paul Levy. Thank you, Bill.

:09:56. > :09:59.First of all I would like to thank the golf fans of Charlotte for

:10:00. > :10:03.coming out and supporting the Championship this week and making

:10:04. > :10:11.this such a special week. Thank you so much. I would also like to thank

:10:12. > :10:15.our gracious host, everyone associated here with Quail Hollow

:10:16. > :10:20.golf club for giving us this great setting and there's great

:10:21. > :10:25.Championship this week, thank you. And now it is my honour to recognise

:10:26. > :10:39.our club professional champion from Austin, Texas, Omagh.

:10:40. > :10:46.And now on but of all dedicated PGA professionals everywhere, it is my

:10:47. > :10:52.honour to present the Wanamaker Trophy to the player who beat the

:10:53. > :10:53.strongest field in golf to win the 2017 PGA Championship, Justin

:10:54. > :11:06.Thomas. The winner of the 99th PGA

:11:07. > :11:53.Championship, Justin Thomas. You can put that down for just a

:11:54. > :12:00.second, we will talk to you for a moment. You are a part of history

:12:01. > :12:04.now, congratulations. There were so many highlights today, what were the

:12:05. > :12:10.keys for you? Just patients. I felt like that the US open although

:12:11. > :12:15.Brooks Koepka had a wonderful round, although I did not have my best

:12:16. > :12:21.stuff that day, I need to have more patience to finish. I had a great

:12:22. > :12:27.opportunity to win, but I knew no matter what my game was at, I just

:12:28. > :12:33.needed to be patient. I felt like I had the game, it was a matter if I

:12:34. > :12:40.did it or not. You grew up as part of the PGA of America, your dad

:12:41. > :12:45.Mike, a PGA professional, in that context, what does this win means

:12:46. > :12:50.you? I cannot put it into words. I have seen these people so often and

:12:51. > :12:56.they are probably annoyed me running around seven or eight years ago at

:12:57. > :13:00.the PGA Championships. I wish my grandfather could be here. It is so

:13:01. > :13:05.good to have three generations of PGA members and I am glad we have

:13:06. > :13:10.the trophy now. You cannot take anything for granted because this is

:13:11. > :13:14.the toughest closing stage of golf. What was your philosophy going into

:13:15. > :13:20.the final three holes? I have been playing them pretty good all week.

:13:21. > :13:25.At the 16th I could just put it out over the bunker. With the adrenaline

:13:26. > :13:31.today, the ball has been going so far and with how hot it is. 17 today

:13:32. > :13:39.was brutal. To make a birdie was beyond a bonus. And among the keys

:13:40. > :13:48.earlier, the chip in at 13 and the putt at ten. It kind of sneaks up on

:13:49. > :13:52.the hole. But it never came back right and the green and the slope

:13:53. > :14:04.are going that way. Once it got there I felt it was going in and I

:14:05. > :14:08.acted like a child and through -- through a tantrum, but it finally

:14:09. > :14:13.went in. At the side all your friends were waiting to congratulate

:14:14. > :14:20.you, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler. That must feel special. Yes, it was

:14:21. > :14:25.great for them to stick around. Who knows what could happen? It is a

:14:26. > :14:30.cool thing we have going on right now with all the young golfers and

:14:31. > :14:35.we are all rooting for each other. If we cannot play well, we what the

:14:36. > :14:40.others to play well. It was great to win, but I feel like a part of a

:14:41. > :14:45.little group. Enjoy a few more moments with the Wanamaker Trophy.

:14:46. > :14:50.Your name is on that forever. Justin Thomas, the winner of the PGA

:14:51. > :14:57.Championship. STUDIO: Justin Thomas, a 24-year-old

:14:58. > :15:03.from Kentucky becomes the third player in a row under the age of 30.

:15:04. > :15:07.He was very emotional after that went. Very much so. There was a tear

:15:08. > :15:12.coming down on each cheek when he was talking on the phone. It was

:15:13. > :15:18.great. It does not bode well for the next Ryder Cup that they are all

:15:19. > :15:23.under 30. They will be putting up a very strong team. Let's have a look

:15:24. > :15:29.at some of the biggest moments. He started nervously but this was him

:15:30. > :15:35.on the par-5/10. That was a birdie putt. Would it drop?

:15:36. > :15:47.It was such a big moment. He turned his back on it, but he must have

:15:48. > :15:53.turned its back at the right moment. That took him to 6-under. On the

:15:54. > :15:58.30th. The tee-shot was not one of his best, but this was pretty

:15:59. > :16:07.special. He missed it on the right side. He probably thought he knew

:16:08. > :16:10.what he was doing. He had the brakes, no question, but I have the

:16:11. > :16:15.feeling if he had not had some of those breaks, he would have come

:16:16. > :16:23.through anyway. He wobbled around 14 and 15 and with a second shot at 16.

:16:24. > :16:28.This was a great shot for par. This course suited him so much. I think

:16:29. > :16:32.he would have won it without the lap. I think the numbers on the

:16:33. > :16:42.holes would have been different. This was the clinching moment, this

:16:43. > :16:54.birdie at 16. He hit a lovely ire off the tee. But two hole this putt

:16:55. > :17:02.two was an unbelievable bonus. It was a very impressive effort all

:17:03. > :17:08.round. And then the finish. He said he was limping in. He knew he had

:17:09. > :17:14.won by this time. He must have had a good idea. I think so. You are never

:17:15. > :17:19.asserted and your head can spin a bit. He knew he had a good chance.

:17:20. > :17:25.Great celebrations with family and friends. He is somebody who has had

:17:26. > :17:30.such a good season. You see somebody like Justin Thomas and you feel like

:17:31. > :17:33.he is about to win and then there are others like Rickie Fowler who

:17:34. > :17:39.have not quite been able to do it, but it was great to see them stay

:17:40. > :17:45.around and wait until the very end. There is more sport coming up on

:17:46. > :17:53.BBC, the Premier League show is back on Wednesday at ten o'clock. You can

:17:54. > :18:01.join Gabby Logan and all the gang. After three relatively drama free

:18:02. > :18:05.days it was a sensational finish to the 99th PGA Championship. It is the

:18:06. > :18:11.third major in a row won by an American under the age of 30 and it

:18:12. > :18:16.is Justin Thomas who has his name on the Wanamaker Trophy. Sergio Garcia,

:18:17. > :18:21.Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth and now Justin Thomas. What a year it has

:18:22. > :18:27.been at the Majors. We cannot wait to do it all again next year. Thank

:18:28. > :18:34.you for watching. Goodbye for now. PETER ALLISS:. Who will grasp the

:18:35. > :18:45.opportunity for the final major of the year? It is not the time to

:18:46. > :18:51.miss. And suddenly there is a spark. Will it turn left or right? Oh, my

:18:52. > :18:55.goodness, that is in the hole. That is a killer blow for Thomas.

:18:56. > :18:59.Advantage Thomas you would have to say. That is it, congratulations,

:19:00. > :19:01.you have done it.
