:00:45. > :00:54.The beautiful city of the Sofia hosts the Championships this week.
:00:55. > :01:00.Three the past winners from Moscow have lushed to defend their title.
:01:01. > :01:01.Clean as can be. Stunning performance there from
:01:02. > :01:15.Larisa Iordache. Big vault, beautifully executed.
:01:16. > :01:21.Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. #
:01:22. > :01:36.! Super work. What a performance. So graceful.
:01:37. > :01:39.So from a glorious Bulgaria to a sunny studio in Manchester.
:01:40. > :01:42.As you have just seen, plenty to look forward to this afternoon and
:01:43. > :01:48.joining me to talk you through the action is 11 time European
:01:49. > :01:51.medallist, Beth Tweddle. Lovely to see you, as always. Thank you for
:01:52. > :01:57.joining us this afternoon. Thank you. A pleasure. Great success from
:01:58. > :02:00.qualification in the women's side. The highest placing ever on the team
:02:01. > :02:05.qualification and then to have all the gymnasts we have on the
:02:06. > :02:09.individuals apparatus. British gymnastics have never qualified in
:02:10. > :02:14.the women's side in that top spot ahead of Russia and Romania. I could
:02:15. > :02:17.tell all the girls were on a high and performed magnificently. The
:02:18. > :02:21.question s how are they going to compete? How will they get on? These
:02:22. > :02:25.are the highlights. We don't want to put too much of a spoiler on this.
:02:26. > :02:28.Let's show everybody what they can look forward to. First up we have
:02:29. > :02:32.the women's team final. Highlights coming forward shortly. Then we will
:02:33. > :02:41.move on to the individual apour ato usp finals. Starting with the vault:
:02:42. > :02:54.Another chance for Rebecca Downie to get a medal on the beam. And floor,
:02:55. > :02:57.another chance for a medal with Claudia Fragapane. Can she get a
:02:58. > :03:02.metal on that? That's the question. Even though a lot of individual hope
:03:03. > :03:08.here, but a lot of focus, on the team performance this year, why? I
:03:09. > :03:12.think Amanda wanted to focus on the team effort. She knew she had the
:03:13. > :03:17.potential to medal. And obviously... And Amanda being your coach. She
:03:18. > :03:22.knows the experience. She knows what it takes to medal on the top. We
:03:23. > :03:26.have done it once before. She thought maybe it could happen again.
:03:27. > :03:29.And who knows. You have done it once before. You were part of that team
:03:30. > :03:35.in 2010 that got that historic silver. What did it feel like to be
:03:36. > :03:38.part of it? Going into those Championships we didn't really know
:03:39. > :03:40.we had the potential to pick up that silver. We hoped maybe to make the
:03:41. > :03:45.team final and silver. We hoped maybe to make the
:03:46. > :03:49.happens on the day. Three up, three to count. It can make a massive
:03:50. > :03:51.difference. Fond memories. Let's hear from the five gymnast who is
:03:52. > :04:05.make up this year's British team. We really have nothing to lose in
:04:06. > :04:09.the final. We have never obviously produced a team gold but we have
:04:10. > :04:15.produced a medal. That's what we are after. We have to give it our best
:04:16. > :04:18.shot again. We have a great depth within the British team. We are
:04:19. > :04:31.close-knit. We have been working hard for this. We are ready.
:04:32. > :04:39.A lot of new faces on to the squad, including Claudia. It is definitely
:04:40. > :04:44.a positive change. We have all gelled so well as a team. We are a
:04:45. > :04:51.family. She is so bright and funny, making
:04:52. > :04:58.sure everyone is happy. Becky is good. Hannah will get me to calm
:04:59. > :05:05.down and Ruby will give me hugs. Tony will be walking up to me and
:05:06. > :05:08.saying - are you all right? Now I'm older and independent and I'm kind
:05:09. > :05:13.of looking after clawedia. It is different but it is nice. It feels
:05:14. > :05:17.like we have all bonded. Although we are fighting for individual places,
:05:18. > :05:19.we know the team is our priority. We have been training with each other
:05:20. > :05:24.for three weeks prior to the Championships. We have all gelled.
:05:25. > :05:27.We know how to pick each other up and what happens other people My
:05:28. > :05:30.first time being in a big international. We are all like
:05:31. > :05:33.sisters. We are just lovely altogether. We have worked really
:05:34. > :05:38.hard and, you know, we are going to go out in the finals and give it all
:05:39. > :05:44.we have got. Any medal we will be happy with but the gold medal would
:05:45. > :05:49.be the icing on the cake. A real comradery there and Frags as
:05:50. > :05:54.she is known has brought a real zest, and spice to the team Yes, the
:05:55. > :05:59.others have done it all before. She is the new face. She has spiced it
:06:00. > :06:03.up. Rebecca has gone from being the baby and now looking after someone.
:06:04. > :06:06.There is great camaraderie. I was up with them at Lilleshall. You can see
:06:07. > :06:12.the team spirit. You have been working closely with
:06:13. > :06:15.them. Obviously passing on all of your expertise. This is how the team
:06:16. > :06:18.competition is going to work. There are eight teams in the final. This
:06:19. > :06:21.is the order in which they qualified. There we are. So Great
:06:22. > :06:25.Britain there, right at the top. They are top qualifiers.
:06:26. > :06:29.So, they are going to start on the beam. They will be competing at the
:06:30. > :06:34.same time as Russia who start on uneven bars. Romania are in group
:06:35. > :06:38.two. Their first apparatus will be beam. As we were saying, three
:06:39. > :06:42.gymnasts from the team compete and all three scores count. There is a
:06:43. > :06:46.lot riding on everyone's performance. Let's have a little
:06:47. > :06:53.look at the Russian and Romanian teams. Very interesting. There has
:06:54. > :07:00.been a lot of injury in the Russian team. Led by Aliya Mustafina. She
:07:01. > :07:04.has ankle problems. Many because of the injury. A young team. Romanian
:07:05. > :07:05.team. They didn't have a great qualification with the all with a
:07:06. > :07:12.few falls. But the experience of some of their
:07:13. > :07:16.team will be vital if they want that 7th team title. Let's see how Great
:07:17. > :07:21.Britain faired against the best in Europe. Beth was in the commentary
:07:22. > :07:27.box alongside Craig Heap and Christine.
:07:28. > :07:36.The first of the Russian team. Daria Spiridonova. She is a great quality
:07:37. > :07:41.gymnast. There is a good start. Into the Stoop. Straight up to the top
:07:42. > :07:47.bar and straight back down to the low bar. A lovely form. The coach is
:07:48. > :07:51.just stepping in, just in case. Slight leg separation there but a
:07:52. > :07:55.good start to the routine so far. Here is her first release and catch.
:07:56. > :07:59.Catches at arm's length which is what we are looking for. The reverse
:08:00. > :08:04.half turn and straight into the dismount. Back and forward. A small
:08:05. > :08:11.hop at the end. She will be pleased with that routine.
:08:12. > :08:18.As you can Seaman, nice straight lines, accurate. Full twisting
:08:19. > :08:24.bubble back. Small hop forward. -- double back.
:08:25. > :08:29.A fantastic opening score: Here we go on it the bars, Aliya
:08:30. > :08:37.Mustafina. The leader of the Russian team.
:08:38. > :08:44.An Olympic champion on this apparatus. Full pirouette. Easily
:08:45. > :08:52.linked into the flight with half-turn. Every handstand hits
:08:53. > :08:56.beautifully. High, flighted, pike front somersault. She gives herself
:08:57. > :09:03.time on the apparatus. Now the full pirouette, straight into the low
:09:04. > :09:05.bar. Look at that turn right on top of the bar. Flight. Useful straight
:09:06. > :09:12.arms on her catches. of the bar. Flight. Useful straight
:09:13. > :09:20.pirouette. Up into a wonderfully landed dismount. That was pretty
:09:21. > :09:24.immaculate work. Well, the top score of the died so
:09:25. > :09:30.far: We have turned now to Becky Downie,
:09:31. > :09:35.the third of the British gymnasts to be working on the beam.
:09:36. > :09:41.She's qualified for beam final. She had a good qualification. Needs it
:09:42. > :09:46.all to go right now. Becky will be looking for a nice controlled start.
:09:47. > :09:50.Gets her on to the apparatus, nice and easy but settles her down It
:09:51. > :09:56.shows her flexibility off really well with that.
:09:57. > :10:00.The front somersault, a perfect landing. That will steady her
:10:01. > :10:04.nerves, showing she has done that first skill.
:10:05. > :10:12.Straight into the free cartwheel playout. A solid landing.
:10:13. > :10:19.-- McCartney wheel layout. Full spin with the leg up. Just a
:10:20. > :10:23.slight wobble but recomposes herself.
:10:24. > :10:31.Rebecca is always known for her great flexibility. Those leaps show
:10:32. > :10:33.that off well. The free walkover into the split
:10:34. > :10:53.jump. Such great performance so far. She
:10:54. > :10:56.has to keep it going until the end. You can hear the girls in the
:10:57. > :11:05.background cheering her on. The last little bit with the dismount.
:11:06. > :11:09.Can she do it? Yes. Oh, great routine, Becky.
:11:10. > :11:14.I was holding my breath there. We all were. She just needed to nail
:11:15. > :11:20.that big dismount. That looks like a great start. It was a really clean
:11:21. > :11:25.routine. Here is the free cartwheel into the layout somersault. That's
:11:26. > :11:33.the acrobatic series, every gymnast has to have one of those. She does
:11:34. > :11:36.an immediate split jump. So 14.133. .
:11:37. > :11:44.Ta puts Great Britain in rank three at the moment. -- that puts.
:11:45. > :11:51.The first of the Romanians. 14. # in qualification. A sleight
:11:52. > :11:56.gymnast. A double twist on. Beautiful landing. Much bester than
:11:57. > :12:01.the last we have seen. The Romanians are known for their powerful
:12:02. > :12:09.vaulting. That's the hardest vault you will see in this competition.
:12:10. > :12:12.And Alina Stanila has 14.666, the opener for Romanian on the vault. A
:12:13. > :12:29.strong apparatus for us. A double twist. On a nine-pence,
:12:30. > :12:32.fantastic. That's how you do It a really beautiful line. You can
:12:33. > :12:35.fantastic. That's how you do It a the lines on the mat. The gymnasts
:12:36. > :12:40.have to land on the line if they are not going to have a deduction. You
:12:41. > :12:45.you can see she does that. Romania qualify top on vault and they look
:12:46. > :12:50.like they are going to keep on going. That was a super vault score
:12:51. > :12:58.for -- Iordache. So, here we are, Romania leading at
:12:59. > :13:05.the moment. Great Britain in fourth but they have had their weakest
:13:06. > :13:06.piece. Beam is certainly the British team's weakest piece. They survived
:13:07. > :13:27.it well. Hannah Whelan first. Enjoy the
:13:28. > :13:31.dance. Hannah Whelan, Great Britain, opens
:13:32. > :13:33.the competition for them on floor. Beautifully landed, full-twisting
:13:34. > :13:45.double back. Needs to concentrate hard. This is a
:13:46. > :13:47.big tumble. Two-and-a-half twists into straight fronts. Fabulous
:13:48. > :14:07.flight. Lovely change leg.
:14:08. > :14:14.# Beautifully, mature dance.
:14:15. > :14:38.Super height on the double back. Holds the landing well.
:14:39. > :14:48.Dances nooted tumble. One of the changes this year. One step back.
:14:49. > :14:55.Really well-held. A super leap to finish. A a great
:14:56. > :14:58.performance from Hannah Whelan. You can see the team are utterly
:14:59. > :15:05.delighted. Fantastic start. I always loved
:15:06. > :15:09.training with Hannah. Her personality comes across. The great
:15:10. > :15:13.two-and-a-half, straight into the front straight and great landing.
:15:14. > :15:17.Back across the floor. The round-off lift into the double tuck. She held
:15:18. > :15:25.that. She was almost too powerful. Too much adrenaline and then misses
:15:26. > :15:34.the last tumble to finish her routine. A very good score there oon
:15:35. > :15:39.Hannah Whelan. Aliya Mustafina from Russia, leader of the Russian team
:15:40. > :15:47.steps to the apparatus to perform her beam routine.
:15:48. > :15:54.She shows her flexibility off. The two jumps connected that you have to
:15:55. > :16:09.do. Straight into the sides a solid start to the routine.
:16:10. > :16:21.Beautifully performed sclam Into the double spin. She knows exactly where
:16:22. > :16:35.that lands is. Very elegant to watch on the beam. The free walkout. The
:16:36. > :16:38.free cartwheel, just on its own. All these skills are adding up her
:16:39. > :16:53.difficulty value. She knows she's just got one last
:16:54. > :16:58.thing to perform to be home safe. A little bit of a dance just to
:16:59. > :17:08.prepare herself. And into the round -off. Perfect
:17:09. > :17:19.landing. She'll be pleased with. That one thing with Mustafina, she
:17:20. > :17:26.doesn't show emotion. Such grace and beauty on the piece of apparatus and
:17:27. > :17:30.maybe a little bitten taive. We'll look at the dismount here. Some
:17:31. > :17:39.strapping on that ankle as well, which may be a concern. Here 14.6 -
:17:40. > :17:45.a good score. Hooer is our chance to see Claudia Fragapane, the new
:17:46. > :17:49.rising star of British gymnastics on the floor exercise.
:17:50. > :17:56.Watch this first tumble. The most difficult you'll see in the
:17:57. > :18:04.competition. She needs to power into it. She needs every bit of height
:18:05. > :18:09.and flight and she's got it. Full-twisting, double straight.
:18:10. > :18:19.Full of innovative dance. Into the next tumble. Double straight - look
:18:20. > :18:29.at that landing! Super high leaps. It is as important
:18:30. > :18:49.as the tumbling. Such a fun dance as well. Now she
:18:50. > :18:54.has to dance into the next tumble. Hold your breath - another big
:18:55. > :19:05.tumble. Can she make it? Yes, she can. Double Arabian.
:19:06. > :19:17.One final test... Keep the concentration. Up we go! Supper.
:19:18. > :19:26.Wow! What a routine. 16 years of age, from Bristol Hawks Gymnastics.
:19:27. > :19:30.We are reel from that super performance, but Maria Kharenkova,
:19:31. > :19:43.for Russia. Oh! Nearly off there. Very well
:19:44. > :19:59.controlled! Did well to stay on. A straight back - much improved. The
:20:00. > :20:06.highest difficulty work there - straight into the leaps. Lovely
:20:07. > :20:17.control. Spin into another full spin.
:20:18. > :20:41.Into the pike. Into the ring. A free cartwheel, split leap.
:20:42. > :20:56.And again a half turn. -- half-turn. A very elegant performer. Here we go
:20:57. > :21:02.- flick, flick, double pike - back Somerset. What a routine. She had
:21:03. > :21:09.that slight wobble. She is renown for being - she was Junior European
:21:10. > :21:15.Champion two years ago and has made the final here. There was the
:21:16. > :21:20.wobble, but she managed to save it. She did very well. She knows how
:21:21. > :21:28.important it is for the team. Straight into the pike. So Claudia
:21:29. > :21:32.Fragapane, 14.766 - that is a very good score. Slightly up on her
:21:33. > :21:34.qualifying score. The Russian team will be looking for a big score
:21:35. > :21:47.here. Kharenkova, 14.566. She has held her
:21:48. > :22:00.nerve and held the team together. And Diana Laura Bulimar, from
:22:01. > :22:05.Romania moves to the asymmetric bars.
:22:06. > :22:25.Lovely lines! Down into the shoot down. A good flow with this routine.
:22:26. > :22:30.The half-turn. A very simple routine.
:22:31. > :22:35.The full twist and double back and a clean landing. Not the highest
:22:36. > :22:40.difficulty, but the judges, for execution value, will be high. The
:22:41. > :22:47.team looked delighted with that. Her team-mate has scored 13.5. As Beth
:22:48. > :22:55.said, very nice, clean work - nice straight arms, straight legs.
:22:56. > :23:04.Bulimar, 14.133. A good score for that routine. And Larisa lordache -
:23:05. > :23:10.the top Romanian. Exciting bar-worker. Super start. Full
:23:11. > :23:17.pirouette. Didn't manage to go into the next element. She'll lose the
:23:18. > :23:33.bonus there. Into the half-turn. Nice up to handstand though. Flight
:23:34. > :23:40.Flighted Jager. Immediately to the low bar. Oh, but
:23:41. > :23:46.she's had to fight hard and use an exit there, so she now needs to pick
:23:47. > :23:51.up - the shoot-up, she's covered it well. She winds up now into the full
:23:52. > :23:54.twist and double back. That was excellent. That routine was not
:23:55. > :24:06.without fault. That mistake in the middle, she then
:24:07. > :24:18.had to change her exit. There's the beginning. The half turn and this is
:24:19. > :24:24.the blind that you can see the Jager summer south and this -- somersault
:24:25. > :24:27.and you can see she was tired - the handstand wasn't quite there and
:24:28. > :24:34.into the dismount. She covered it well, but she will not be pleased.
:24:35. > :24:38.So drops under the magic 14. So, here we are - row main that in the
:24:39. > :24:43.lead. From Russia, Great Britain clawed up into third place, ahead of
:24:44. > :24:48.Germany, Belgium and Italy, down in sixth. They are usually expected to
:24:49. > :24:56.be a bit higher than that. Seventh, Spain and eight, Switzerland.
:24:57. > :25:08.Rebecca Tunney, for Great Britain. Right, come on Rebecca.
:25:09. > :25:16.Double-twist. Fantastic performance. She has a fantastic technique. She
:25:17. > :25:21.is so consistent with it. Lands in the middle. You can see the powerful
:25:22. > :25:31.run. You can see the British team at the other end all jumping up and
:25:32. > :25:42.down. 14.533 for Rebecca Tunney. Rebecca Downie for Great Britain.
:25:43. > :25:47.Double-twist twisting. Lifts, lifts - fantastic height - couldn't have
:25:48. > :25:52.wished for more. It is so nice to see her back on the vaults. She's
:25:53. > :25:58.had injury over the past couple of years. She has a wonderful
:25:59. > :26:01.technique. A small hop on landing. There we are - 14.7. That is a
:26:02. > :26:13.really good score. Alla Sosnitskaya comes to the floor
:26:14. > :26:16.for Russia. A very important performance. Absolutely. The
:26:17. > :26:40.pressure is on. Whip, whip, flick. Very nice
:26:41. > :27:12.combination there. Double pike-back. That is a bigger
:27:13. > :27:47.ror. Pfd The final tumble - double tuck.
:27:48. > :27:52.Slight -- the final tumble, double tuck. The mistakes are starting to
:27:53. > :27:57.show. The mistakes are there. The other three tumbles were better.
:27:58. > :28:03.That is vital when you are going for medals, those little steppouts are
:28:04. > :28:07.what cost you those medals. 13.766 for Sosnitskaya. That is
:28:08. > :28:12.quite a good score, because there were errors in that routine. Maria
:28:13. > :28:19.Kharenkova, the very slight gymnast to finish with.
:28:20. > :28:31.This is their challenge on the floor.
:28:32. > :28:38.Slight, but powerful. Super double Arabian. So the gymnast has to dance
:28:39. > :28:40.into the corner and move out into the tumble. That is new rules. Into
:28:41. > :29:27.double pike. Very nice. And the movement has to mirror the
:29:28. > :29:36.music. Two-and-a-half twist.
:29:37. > :29:42.Lovely height! The suppleness on those leaps.
:29:43. > :29:50.She has shown very good variety here. Not going for massive
:29:51. > :29:54.difficulty, but really clean, good all-round performance there on
:29:55. > :30:07.floor. She had the tumbling, she has the leaps and the artistry. And the
:30:08. > :30:20.two whips into the two-and-a-half twist and then the double tuck to
:30:21. > :30:23.finish. A good routine. 13.766. The second gymnast for Romania, Andreea
:30:24. > :30:28.Munteanu. second gymnast for Romania, Andreea
:30:29. > :30:33.A nice simple entry, to get straight on to the beam and then that
:30:34. > :30:41.original piece of work there. So composed and ready to work. Straight
:30:42. > :30:46.into the change leg side - showing off her flexibility and then
:30:47. > :30:52.composing herself ahead of the big somersault series. Into the big
:30:53. > :30:56.twist. No problems whatsoever. Straight back into the walkover,
:30:57. > :31:03.into the jump, into the two jumps connected. This is where she's
:31:04. > :31:13.building up her difficulty - the sides - absolutely flawless routine.
:31:14. > :31:21.The flow - the front somersault - no error. She knows she's got to get
:31:22. > :31:47.from beginning to end. Just how she does in training every single day.
:31:48. > :31:57.The flick and into the flick to two and the triple twist. Oh, a big step
:31:58. > :32:03.on the landing. 14.933 from Andreea Munteanu, probably the top score of
:32:04. > :32:06.the day on the beam and Larisa Iordache knows that is very
:32:07. > :32:16.important performance for the Romanian team.
:32:17. > :32:23.Gymnasts just have to mount with an A difficulty. They just have to use
:32:24. > :32:27.a simple mount. They don't have to do anything spectacular but this is
:32:28. > :32:33.spectacular, watch care fli. A back flip. Full twisting tuck back, as
:32:34. > :32:37.easy as you like and she immediately comes back with another big tumble.
:32:38. > :32:43.This time from a round-off. Round-off. Straight back somersault.
:32:44. > :32:47.A tiny bit loose on the legs but super confident.
:32:48. > :32:51.You have to have difficult dance elements as well. That's one. That's
:32:52. > :33:03.of a difficult spin with the leg held right up over her face.
:33:04. > :33:09.She played a bit safe there. Quite understandable at this stage. A free
:33:10. > :33:16.walkover oh, and another little hesitation. Then the two jumps.
:33:17. > :33:22.However well-practiced you are, when you know the pressure is on, it's
:33:23. > :33:29.easy to be cautious but that was a clean side somersault. She looks
:33:30. > :33:34.like she's enjoying it up there now. But this is always my favourite
:33:35. > :33:40.dismount. Watch carefully. Imagine she is on
:33:41. > :33:45.the floor. Round-off. Back flip. Triple twist. Impressive work from
:33:46. > :33:53.the Romanian team. They certainly laid down a big, big score on the
:33:54. > :33:58.beam. 1.4 in the qualification there. We
:33:59. > :34:04.go. The full twist. Amazing acrobatics on the beam. There you go
:34:05. > :34:08.from the round-off. A super dismount, round-off flick, triple
:34:09. > :34:14.twist on something the size of a house brick. That is amazing. And
:34:15. > :34:19.Larisa Iordache there, 14.7 on the beam.
:34:20. > :34:24.So, here we have the scores at the moment:
:34:25. > :34:38.Look at Great Britain, pushed up into second place ahead of Russia.
:34:39. > :34:47.Ruby Harrold the first gymnast out for Great Britain. The finalist in
:34:48. > :34:53.the Worlds on bars and in the Europeans in 2013. This is
:34:54. > :34:56.important. The full turning pack. She is cleanly there. Now this is
:34:57. > :35:01.the big original combination. The half turn into the shooting
:35:02. > :35:06.handstand into the toe on and off. Now the full pirouette. Clean. Up
:35:07. > :35:11.into the shoot up. A big release all to could. All-important, half turn.
:35:12. > :35:16.Rise the heels, front somersault. It is there. Now, just the dismount to
:35:17. > :35:23.G come on Ruby, up, one, two, land. What a start. Fantastic start there
:35:24. > :35:29.and senior national coach, Colin Stills highly delighted. Hannah
:35:30. > :35:33.Whelan, team captain greets here. Here is the replay. You can see her
:35:34. > :35:37.straight back down into the low bar. The only gymnast in this competition
:35:38. > :35:41.to be doing that. The toe full turn straight up into the high bar.
:35:42. > :35:45.That's sometimes where she has big problems. So, she will be pleased to
:35:46. > :35:56.have got that. Then the double front and then the clean landing. 14.7333
:35:57. > :36:02.for Ruby Harrold. Super start. Up on her qualifying score.
:36:03. > :36:11.The second gymnast for Russia on the vault.
:36:12. > :36:16.The first gymnast, Maria Kharenkova has had her score.
:36:17. > :36:23.You see there, a round off, a small little step but directly in line.
:36:24. > :36:29.14.733. A good double twist. A good score for double twist.
:36:30. > :36:33.Aliya Mustafina, bronze medallist at the Olympic Games. They certainly
:36:34. > :36:40.need this young lady now to pull something out of the bag and to show
:36:41. > :36:45.the maturity. Let's see. Accelerates, pops off the top.
:36:46. > :36:50.Double twisting. Great landing, but there was a knee bend in the middle
:36:51. > :36:54.there. She is walking with a bit of a limp as well. She has gone out
:36:55. > :36:58.there, knowing for the team score she needs to give them a
:36:59. > :37:05.performance. You can see she is struggling. She knew she had to do
:37:06. > :37:10.it. For Mustafina, 14.7 on the vault has bolstered the Russian tote A it
:37:11. > :37:17.means, Great Britain if they want to stay ahead. Need scores in excess of
:37:18. > :37:22.14.7 all the way around. Next gymnast from the City of Liverpool.
:37:23. > :37:27.Rebecca Tunney, former training partner of Beth Tweddle. Well,
:37:28. > :37:31.enjoy. Thanks for this one. Takes a breath and then starts her
:37:32. > :37:39.fast-flowing routine. A good start with the handstand. Into the
:37:40. > :37:47.somersault. Cleanly done. A good clean land. A nice toe-catcher pike
:37:48. > :37:49.into the full-twisting pack. Such an original combination.
:37:50. > :37:56.And straight back down to the low bar.
:37:57. > :38:06.The half-turn. Two more elements to G come on Rebecca. The full and a
:38:07. > :38:11.slight step on landing. -- two more elements to go. That was fabulous.
:38:12. > :38:18.She just missed one of the combinations in the middle but she
:38:19. > :38:24.works this so well. 14.766 for Rebecca. Another great
:38:25. > :38:30.score. So, Rebecca Downie. Top qualifier
:38:31. > :38:33.for the finals. Can she reproduce that performance? Full of difficulty
:38:34. > :38:40.and excitement. Very little margin for error. Here she starts. Quiet
:38:41. > :38:44.upstart. Top. You have to do a forward element. There is hers.
:38:45. > :38:50.Straight into the flights of the high bar. Into the very difficult
:38:51. > :38:56.short tier catcher. Super-hard work. Watch this. Big full turn. Into the
:38:57. > :39:06.pike catch. Another very big release. Down to the low bar. The
:39:07. > :39:11.Salto. A tricky combination. It is the right way. Into full-twisting
:39:12. > :39:15.double back. She came off a fraction early but held it well. What a
:39:16. > :39:19.performance from the British girl. There is the British crowd cheering.
:39:20. > :39:26.You can see everybody absolutely thrilled.
:39:27. > :39:31.What a great night tonight. You can see her up to the top bar. A
:39:32. > :39:36.fantastic release. A lot of pressure there. Down to the bottom bar there.
:39:37. > :39:41.Up into the handstand. There you go. You can see the wind-up. Come on.
:39:42. > :39:47.Came off a little early. Full-twisting double back. 14.833.
:39:48. > :39:52.That puts Great Britain, at the moment into rank 1. Still four teams
:39:53. > :39:57.to go. ?
:39:58. > :40:03.STUDIO: Great Britain guaranteed a silver with Romania needing just
:40:04. > :40:11.1.5. Their first two gymnasts scored over 14. Can Iordache secure for
:40:12. > :40:15.Romania? We have had 20 years of women's team titles. Every two years
:40:16. > :40:24.it has been competed, Romania have won six of the titles. Can Iordache
:40:25. > :40:27.complete this floor to take their seventh?
:40:28. > :40:31.The double, double to start. A step forward but difficult, difficult
:40:32. > :40:38.work. A single full-twisting double back.
:40:39. > :40:54.Just that hop. Not quite the four spins but very
:40:55. > :41:05.nearly. Full of energy, this routine.
:41:06. > :41:10.She has the top scorer on flooring qualification for anybody. A triple
:41:11. > :41:31.twist. It makes it look easy. Hits her beets impressively. She
:41:32. > :41:41.sells the -- her beats.
:41:42. > :41:47.Total confidence. This is the moment that counts. The double pike, oh, it
:41:48. > :41:52.was a big bound back. But, a great powerful could havep
:41:53. > :41:59.dent performance. Romania have looked impressive today. But have
:42:00. > :42:03.Great Britain. I would put my money on her. I think she has clinched
:42:04. > :42:08.that title. I think we have worked it out she needs a 12.376 to go
:42:09. > :42:11.ahead of the British team. You can see them anxiously waiting for that
:42:12. > :42:15.score. I think we all know but until you have that score in front of you
:42:16. > :42:22.and it is confirmed, you never want to believe anything. There it is,
:42:23. > :42:30.14.466, gives them first place. 172 points. You can see just how much it
:42:31. > :42:36.means to those gymnasts. So here, confirmation, Romania top,
:42:37. > :42:44.172. Great Britain second, 170. Russia third, 169 and Germany fought
:42:45. > :42:50.their way, ahead of Italy in fourth. So Great Britain, silver medallists,
:42:51. > :42:54.what a moment. Congratulations lady. Let's come to you first. Can you
:42:55. > :42:59.sum-up what the medal means? Everything. All the hard work that
:43:00. > :43:04.has gone into this. All the support from home, family, coaches, physios.
:43:05. > :43:08.We have worked so hard and deserve this, 100%. Ruby, your first
:43:09. > :43:12.international medal? I can't believe T we have been working so hard as a
:43:13. > :43:16.team for the past month. All the hard work has paid off. I'm so happy
:43:17. > :43:19.for everyone. It looks very emotional up there.
:43:20. > :43:26.Chloe, this is your international debut. You must be thinking it is
:43:27. > :43:30.easy? It is absolutely amazing. I'm speech ams. I'm so happy. I love
:43:31. > :43:35.this team. We all did so well. Amazing. Rebecca, obviously you were
:43:36. > :43:39.there at the London Olympics. This must have been a massive high but
:43:40. > :43:43.this must rank up. We have been together for the past three weeks
:43:44. > :43:48.training and we have all worked so hard. It has been tough but we gave
:43:49. > :43:53.it 100%. We definitely earned it. Becky, you were the only member of
:43:54. > :43:58.the team here last time that GB won a silver medal. How much has it
:43:59. > :44:02.changed? A totally different team with different expectations coming N
:44:03. > :44:06.everybody stepped up to the mark. We couldn't have done any more. I'm
:44:07. > :44:10.really proud of all of them. ? STUDIO: What an impact that medal
:44:11. > :44:13.will have on this team. We were talking about the
:44:14. > :44:19.consistency and quality in that group. You are constantly relying on
:44:20. > :44:23.one person to put in a big skoemplt if you look across the scores on
:44:24. > :44:30.every piece they are consistent within three or four 10th. The only
:44:31. > :44:34.one big score was on floor with Claudia putting in 14.7. It is
:44:35. > :44:38.amazing how we have progressed massively on vault to have three
:44:39. > :44:42.double twists. That really helped the team score. What is the key to
:44:43. > :44:45.delivering the performance that they did in qualification actually in the
:44:46. > :44:50.final. Because you can tire yourself out. Looking for Romania, they were
:44:51. > :44:54.shocking in qualification but they knew once they got into the top
:44:55. > :45:01.eight, didn't matter because they would come out tops in the end.
:45:02. > :45:04.Amanda learnt a lot from when I was competing day after day. When you
:45:05. > :45:09.are on the international circuit, you do get tired and you have to
:45:10. > :45:15.come down and get back up for the next day. They have had to change
:45:16. > :45:18.their tactics. A team competition, and then maybe another one or
:45:19. > :45:22.apparatus finals. It has helped the girls. They know their routines
:45:23. > :45:25.inside out and knew what they had to deliver. That's it. When you get
:45:26. > :45:28.that confidence, as you know, you can try and try and try in the gym
:45:29. > :45:32.but when you get there and you deliver on the day. It must just
:45:33. > :45:39.lift you for the next one. They must delighted.
:45:40. > :45:45.You see them training day in, day out and producing those routines.
:45:46. > :45:50.And a word that the chances are those tha will be the team for the
:45:51. > :45:56.Commonwealth. They are all English. We will not lose anyone to Scotland
:45:57. > :46:02.or Wales. We have a very strong... That's a strong taesmt unbeatable.
:46:03. > :46:05.Anyway from, the team competition our attentions turn to the
:46:06. > :46:08.individual specialists. Here is some of what you can look forward to this
:46:09. > :46:19.afternoon. Will Claudia Fragapane fly high.
:46:20. > :46:29.Rebecca Downie led qualifying on bars.
:46:30. > :46:36.Mustafina is the reigning champion. Can Downie challenge for a medal?
:46:37. > :46:41.Will Claudia Fragapane's individual style wow the judges on the floor
:46:42. > :46:45.final? All questions which will be answered very shortly. Let me tell
:46:46. > :46:52.you, it is not just the seniors who have been impressing out there. The
:46:53. > :46:57.junior team a started their bid for European glory on Friday.
:46:58. > :47:04.Here is Nick to bring us up-to-date. No junior British squad had won a
:47:05. > :47:07.European medal. The 2014 team blaef they could -- believe they could.
:47:08. > :47:15.There were two classy vaults. they could -- believe they could.
:47:16. > :47:18.Downie was brilliant on the bars. A medal would be won or lost on the
:47:19. > :47:31.beam. Here was a clean routine. There was almost a tumble. Britain
:47:32. > :47:37.secured behind Russia and ahead of Romania. Amazing. It is an
:47:38. > :47:46.experience. This is our first medal. Hopefully we'll get a lot more.
:47:47. > :47:50.Catherine Lyons was back. Gymnasts competed on all four apparatus. She
:47:51. > :47:58.had to settle for fourth overall I was left to Ellie Downie to make
:47:59. > :48:06.history. She claimed bronds and became the first British won to win
:48:07. > :48:10.an all-round medal. It was nerve-racking to see the
:48:11. > :48:15.final scores on the score board. I am really pleased with myself.
:48:16. > :48:24.Ellie's success didn't end there. She got a gold this morning on
:48:25. > :48:29.vault. Beth? She had such I credible vaults. It could be in the --
:48:30. > :48:34.incredible vaults. It could be in the seniors. What a celebration.
:48:35. > :48:41.Celebration. What a result. Beths, we are looking
:48:42. > :48:57.at six medals out of 15. The amount in juniors before, we
:48:58. > :49:01.only brought one home at a time, the fact we have brought home six. Their
:49:02. > :49:06.coach has been working really hard with them and the preparation
:49:07. > :49:09.leading into this championship - ahave the belief now. They have seen
:49:10. > :49:15.-- they have the belief now. They have seen the seniors. And to be
:49:16. > :49:20.turning up at that young age and to make such an impact on the European
:49:21. > :49:24.stage it is something. This week has been about the women. Next weekend,
:49:25. > :49:26.it is the turn of the men. Here are the details and how you can see them
:49:27. > :49:50.in action. Next Saturday: We will report on how the juniors
:49:51. > :49:54.get on as well it is time for the individual apparatus final. First we
:49:55. > :50:20.have vaults. Let's look at who the gymnasts are who will be competing.
:50:21. > :50:28.Giulia Steingruber will be difficult to beat. She has the most difficult
:50:29. > :50:33.start. It is so cleanly performed N qualification she opted for a
:50:34. > :50:38.simpler second vault. I know she can upgrade that second one. We will see
:50:39. > :50:42.what she does today. We heard Claudia Fragapane - she was
:50:43. > :50:47.obviously delighted. Let's see how she was feeling ahead of her first
:50:48. > :51:33.final. One of the most popular vaults in
:51:34. > :51:35.this championship - among the top performers.
:51:36. > :51:48.A tiny bit of leg form lost as she finished the twist. A good, tidy
:51:49. > :51:54.vault down the middle. Good height. The score comes in,
:51:55. > :51:56.14.766 for the first vault. Second vault to come.
:51:57. > :52:13.Here we go! Very nice! Very clean vault, but
:52:14. > :52:22.slightly to one side. Very classy vault this. Beautiful
:52:23. > :52:25.straight body held. You can see she bounds to the side. The direction
:52:26. > :52:28.problem came off the top. You can see that and that will be quite a
:52:29. > :52:35.heavy penalty. So the first score in for
:52:36. > :52:49.Sosnitskaya: Giulia Steingruber - the defending
:52:50. > :52:54.European vaults champion, from Switzerland. Now she has one of the
:52:55. > :52:58.most difficult vaults in the bag - 6.2 her start value. Just watch!
:52:59. > :53:01.Forward on, one-and-a-half twists off. No problem with diviation
:53:02. > :53:11.there. -- deviation there.
:53:12. > :53:16.Yes, very powerful. Into the handsprings. Wraps into the
:53:17. > :53:21.one-and-a-half twist. She plucks off the top, wraps in, very nice!
:53:22. > :53:29.Accurate in the mid-. Slight pace on landing, but very difficult vaulting
:53:30. > :53:34.indeed. 6.2, the start value. 15.2 for that first vault. That
:53:35. > :53:40.beats the qual qualification score. Now we'll see what vault she has
:53:41. > :53:48.nominated. 5.8, going for a double twist. Let's see how it goes. The
:53:49. > :53:54.flip-on t twist. It was not secure enough to do the double. The judges
:53:55. > :54:00.just judge what they see and don't deduct.
:54:01. > :54:08.Yes, as you can see here she goes for the vault - lovely and high. Not
:54:09. > :54:14.that higher difficulty, as you can see. Smack, back in the middle.
:54:15. > :54:27.Great on execution. It might not be enough today.
:54:28. > :54:38.Here we go - Great Britain, Claudia Fragapane - qualified in third.
:54:39. > :54:42.This, her senior championship debut. Really focussed. Power and attack
:54:43. > :54:54.down the runway. A good double twist. Right down the middle.
:54:55. > :54:59.A fabulous start for her. Totally different vault in from the
:55:00. > :55:09.previous. Stood up brilliantly! Look at this - reaches back into the
:55:10. > :55:15.vault block. Double-twist. It is just a touch down on her qualifying
:55:16. > :55:19.score for her first vault. Her second vault. It has to be different
:55:20. > :55:27.to the first. She went on backwards. This time needs to come on forward.
:55:28. > :55:37.She'll make a round-off, straight stront somersault. Just a little --
:55:38. > :55:43.straight on somersault. Just a little loss... Look at this!
:55:44. > :55:49.Straight front half turn. There is lack in form slightly. Look at this
:55:50. > :55:57.- off the top - straight front, half-turn. A very powerful gymnast.
:55:58. > :56:02.There you see! Half turn, spots the landing and the coach is very
:56:03. > :56:09.pleased with that. There's the score then, 14.433. She's put in a couple
:56:10. > :56:17.of strong performances. Here is Larisa lordache - qualified
:56:18. > :56:25.in fourth. Won a bronze on vault last year at the Europeans. What can
:56:26. > :56:32.she do today? Very precise. A good round-off. Lovely style. That is a
:56:33. > :56:45.lovely double-twisting. . Probably the best double twisting
:56:46. > :56:53.Yuchenko we have seen so far. Look at that! Right down the middle.
:56:54. > :56:57.Fantastic! Blocks off the top. Well! What an opening vault. The crowd
:56:58. > :57:06.like it. That is a very good execution score. 14.866 for that
:57:07. > :57:10.first vault. A relatively low score for her first vault. She knows it
:57:11. > :57:22.has to be perfect if she wants to challenge for the medals. She's
:57:23. > :57:29.measured. She swings the arms. The full-twisting Tsukahara.
:57:30. > :57:36.Look at this going for the Tsukahara - great execution. The style here is
:57:37. > :57:42.absolutely top-class. Just look at that! Legs glued together. Block off
:57:43. > :57:46.the top - right down the middle. Wow! And the coach seems happy with
:57:47. > :57:52.that as well. It is putting her up there into the
:57:53. > :58:09.medal force the moment. 14.
:58:10. > :58:17.Double twist. Very clean. Very nice. Very precise double twist.
:58:18. > :58:23.One to watch. We last saw Pavlova in the Olympic
:58:24. > :58:27.Games in Beijing on the international stage. She has worked
:58:28. > :58:33.very hard. She looks in great shape. That was a well-flighted, beautiful,
:58:34. > :58:40.technical vault. Tiny bit off direction, but no great deductions.
:58:41. > :58:59.14.766. Just a little down on execution.
:59:00. > :59:08.Absolutely magnificent. The coach has to catch her. This vault will
:59:09. > :59:17.challenge. Very precise. Half-turn. Straight, straight body. She did
:59:18. > :59:23.actually bend one arm. The judges can deduct for that. It happened
:59:24. > :59:26.very fast and it didn't affect the flightpath. Very difficult to hold
:59:27. > :59:31.that straight shape all the way through. It has put her into second
:59:32. > :59:40.place. One gymnast to go. Kim Bui of
:59:41. > :59:47.Germany. She is competing a vault that is tariffed at five.
:59:48. > :59:59.Lots of power. Lovely height and flight. Full twist. Not the most
:00:00. > :00:05.difficult vault. Very stylish. A very measured performance.
:00:06. > :00:11.Yuchenko off the top. Bags of time. I am sure that will be a
:00:12. > :00:16.double-twist in training. Maybe not ready yet.
:00:17. > :00:23.A little down on her qualification score. Second vault, a little bit
:00:24. > :00:38.more difficult than the first. An unusual way this.
:00:39. > :00:47.I think there she knows she has defended her vault title.
:00:48. > :00:53.Very powerful vault. You need acceleration and heel drive. Look at
:00:54. > :00:58.this. Striking the vault. Bolt in the hair. Massive hop-back in the
:00:59. > :01:04.landing. She finishes 7th with an overall score of 13.916.
:01:05. > :01:10.Here is the confirmation of the women's vaults final: Guilia
:01:11. > :01:25.Steingruber defends her title she won in Moscow:
:01:26. > :01:30.Claudia Fragapane, coming sixth in her first final.
:01:31. > :01:33.How did you find that, your first senior final? I wanted to go out
:01:34. > :01:38.there and get both vaults to my feet. Great. Have you happy with how
:01:39. > :01:42.they went themselves? It wasn't my best vault but, obviously to get
:01:43. > :01:46.into the final was just incredible. I didn't really mind where I was. It
:01:47. > :01:50.was just great being out there. Did any of the team have words of
:01:51. > :01:54.encouragement for you today? They are more experienced. Were they
:01:55. > :01:59.passing on knowledge? They just said enjoy it, whatever happens, we are
:02:00. > :02:01.proud of you and it is your first Europeans, so go out and enjoy it.
:02:02. > :02:05.? STUDIO: I guess when you have a team
:02:06. > :02:09.silver in the bag, you just go and enjoy
:02:10. > :02:15.it is that question - how hard do you go in competition? It is a piece
:02:16. > :02:20.where you can use all of your adrenaline. It is not like the beam
:02:21. > :02:24.where you have the smallest, minor error. Steingruber decided to go
:02:25. > :02:29.with the difficult first vault and played safe and just did the full
:02:30. > :02:33.twist but performed it cleanly. Looking ahead into the future this
:02:34. > :02:38.is a piece she can excel on. She is going to get more powerful as she
:02:39. > :02:42.gets older. Definitely. She has the two vaults. She needs to tidy them
:02:43. > :02:46.up. During qualification and team final they were better. It is just
:02:47. > :02:50.experience. Like you say, going from winning a team medal last night,
:02:51. > :02:54.straight into a final today it will have been hard to fight with those
:02:55. > :03:00.emotions. We will move on now to uneven bars. What a pedigree we have
:03:01. > :03:04.in Great Britain for this, obviously yourself included. We qualified
:03:05. > :03:08.three gymnasts but you are only allowed two. It is really difficult.
:03:09. > :03:12.All three of them know they are good enough to be in the European final
:03:13. > :03:16.and it is the slightest, minor errors that could have changed the
:03:17. > :03:23.order. So this time it was tunny and Downie that made the final. It could
:03:24. > :03:26.have been Ruby on a different day. Rebecca Downie, vastly experienced.
:03:27. > :03:31.She has quite a few different routines. We think she went for the
:03:32. > :03:35.easiest or the easy side of the routine in qualification. She had a
:03:36. > :03:41.lot of qualification was Amanda and her personal coach. Amanda decided
:03:42. > :03:45.for the team she wanted to go through a routine she knew that 100%
:03:46. > :03:49.of of the time she would go from A to B and they did the same in the
:03:50. > :03:53.final. Individual finals, it is up to you whether to go all-out and
:03:54. > :03:58.take that risk or whether to go with the simple. But bank your place
:03:59. > :04:03.first of all and then you have the option Yes, exactly, if you mess up
:04:04. > :04:07.in qualification... Let's hear from Becky on that difficult decision. In
:04:08. > :04:11.qualifying Amman dap wanted me to go for an easier routine. I have never
:04:12. > :04:15.done that strategy before. It was a different tactic for me T seemed to
:04:16. > :04:19.work. I was really surprised with the score. I think for the finals I
:04:20. > :04:22.want to go all out. I have worked hard to put the big routine
:04:23. > :04:25.together. It is not a massive change, it is a small change but it
:04:26. > :04:30.can increase my start value by quite a big amount. So it is quite
:04:31. > :04:34.exciting. We are team-mates. We don't see each other as rivals.
:04:35. > :04:37.Obviously on the day it will be a bit different but whatever happens,
:04:38. > :04:43.we will both be happy for each other. It is not like we will - we
:04:44. > :04:47.don't see each other as rivals. Last year it was going to be my time, I
:04:48. > :04:51.thought but in the final I was so nervous and I put too much pressure
:04:52. > :04:56.on myself. The routine was still knew. I hadn't had long to put
:04:57. > :05:01.together and it was gamble getting through it and qualifications I
:05:02. > :05:04.think came off more by luck than judgment. This time I feel prepared.
:05:05. > :05:10.If it doesn't come off, it doesn't mean I have not put in the work or
:05:11. > :05:15.worked hard enough, it is just unlucky, I guess. I'm feeling
:05:16. > :05:18.confident that we can end this medal hunt. Let's try and end it and
:05:19. > :05:23.hopefully the pressure levels will be right. It will be very
:05:24. > :05:27.interesting to see which routine Becky opts for in the final. As we
:05:28. > :05:31.are talking about Beth's area of real expertise. We might get an
:05:32. > :05:35.inside track from a World Champion. We put her in front of - this is a
:05:36. > :05:42.different type of apparatus. Good luck, everyone, with this.
:05:43. > :05:45.I wanted to try and explain how the asymmetric bars have changed.
:05:46. > :05:49.Gymnasts used to do individual elements on their own. Now they have
:05:50. > :05:54.to connect the skills to get the difficulty barriers and you have to
:05:55. > :05:59.be more original. Rebecca Tu in, y of Great Britain is the perfect for
:06:00. > :06:02.this. She is the only gymnast to this this.
:06:03. > :06:11.-- Rebecca Tunny. Tow catch inial pike position straight down into a
:06:12. > :06:15.full twisting pack. By adding the two skills together she picks up the
:06:16. > :06:18.difficulty value. Difference between the team final routine and
:06:19. > :06:22.qualification routine was the fact she missed one connection. I will
:06:23. > :06:28.try and show you this now by showing the two different routines. The
:06:29. > :06:34.first element is this element up to the high bar, straight back down
:06:35. > :06:40.with a packed salto to the low bar and straight back up. In the time
:06:41. > :06:46.final routine she did the same entry, back down to the pack and she
:06:47. > :06:54.had to add in another move before she did the next one. That's what
:06:55. > :06:59.resulted in a two tenths, lower start value. Let's look at the
:07:00. > :07:06.gymnasts she will be competing against. Rebecca second up. Third
:07:07. > :07:13.highest qualifier. Second highest. Aliya Mustafina Olympic champion
:07:14. > :07:17.from 2012. Becky Downie will be going in the penultimate spot S that
:07:18. > :07:21.a good order? With the fact that Rebecca has so many different
:07:22. > :07:25.routines, it is great. She can make that decision if she goes with the
:07:26. > :07:32.easy routine F there is a lot of mistakes, and -- there is a lot of
:07:33. > :07:39.mistakes and she knows she can play safe or if there has been great
:07:40. > :07:46.routines, she can go all out. How do you meet? Aliya Mustafina?
:07:47. > :07:52.Have the performance of a livetime. They are both going to have the
:07:53. > :08:00.performance of their life times. We'll start with Rebecca Tunny.
:08:01. > :08:05.Here is Rebecca Tunn for Great Britain. Missed the Europeans in
:08:06. > :08:12.Moscow with a fractured foot. A real opportunity for her here.
:08:13. > :08:19.A great clean hand stand to start. Straight into the move, easily
:08:20. > :08:24.performed. Into the pike toe. Straight on to
:08:25. > :08:31.the low bar with the full-turning pack. A good start to the routine.
:08:32. > :08:34.Here is the schapp. Straight down into the pack and straight up to the
:08:35. > :08:42.connection. That's the important connection in this routine. The last
:08:43. > :08:46.part. Into the back in full. And the smallest step. It was a great
:08:47. > :08:52.routine, wasn't it? That was the routine she would have hoped for.
:08:53. > :08:56.You can see from Hannah Whelan and Colin Still congratulating her.
:08:57. > :09:01.That's her best routine. I can breathe. It is so hard commentating
:09:02. > :09:06.on them. This is the difficult xe combination. She goes up into the
:09:07. > :09:10.full turning pack. So that's two of the most difficult moves linked
:09:11. > :09:15.together. She will get good bonus for that. That's how her start score
:09:16. > :09:20.builds. You can see the height, into the full turn. She has to keep her
:09:21. > :09:24.eyes on that low bar. She was a little bit wonkey landing on the bar
:09:25. > :09:29.but she's so strong and this is the other big connection. The flight to
:09:30. > :09:34.one bar and they cut the middle bit out but she got all the connections
:09:35. > :09:39.she wanted. Improving in her handstand shapes and looks, finishes
:09:40. > :09:43.that perwet right on top of the bar and straight into the dismount. A
:09:44. > :09:47.really good effort. Her coach, Claire will be sat at
:09:48. > :09:55.home, pleased with that performance. She put everything into it. 14.933.
:09:56. > :10:02.Is it going to be enough to bag her, her first medal in a major
:10:03. > :10:09.Championship? Now Daria Spiridonova, the Russian
:10:10. > :10:13.bars champion. Russia are the top nation in this Championships on
:10:14. > :10:22.bars. That super stoop into flight to the high bar. She's very smooth.
:10:23. > :10:26.Half turn, an anxious-looking coach there. But when you don't put the
:10:27. > :10:29.feet on, when you stoop in and out, it raises the difficulty. That was a
:10:30. > :10:34.lovely front somersault. A little bit of a scrambled half turn. Into a
:10:35. > :10:39.big, high, dismount. Very clean. Very difficult work. That was an
:10:40. > :10:43.excellent routine. Got lovely lines from beginning to end. Obviously the
:10:44. > :10:47.smallest bit where she has to fight for it and the coach was a little
:10:48. > :10:55.bit anxious on that transition from the low to the high bar This is the
:10:56. > :11:03.one that she has go-gadget arms, as we used to say, to grab the bar. The
:11:04. > :11:08.Stoop in and out into the half-turn into theawayer somersault. No
:11:09. > :11:12.problems there. -- the yaegar. She puts her feet on the bar, so it
:11:13. > :11:17.is a little bit easier. There is the Stoop, where you don't
:11:18. > :11:25.put your feet on the bar. And a different angle for the yaegar.
:11:26. > :11:29.This is the wind-up into the dismount. She uses what most
:11:30. > :11:36.gymnasts use, the back in full dismountain a great landing. A very
:11:37. > :11:52.nice landing. A score of 14.966. She will be pretty pleased with that.
:11:53. > :11:59.Now this could be a routine to save her. The World Champion and reigning
:12:00. > :12:03.Olympic champion. This is the routine we will be waiting for. She
:12:04. > :12:10.is the one to take the title. We will see how it goes. The stoop
:12:11. > :12:19.full. Great lines. The coach just stepping in, the stoop half into the
:12:20. > :12:25.pike piked jaegar. Nice clean handstand. Straight down to the low
:12:26. > :12:30.bar. The pack. Straight into the next move. She knows she has the
:12:31. > :12:36.last little test. The toe, full turn into the back in full and nails that
:12:37. > :12:42.landing. That was a pretty clean routine.
:12:43. > :12:46.Amazing. She's so effective on the pirouettes. That's where the marks
:12:47. > :12:48.can get lost if you are late with the turns. Judges like
:12:49. > :12:55.can get lost if you are late with finishing handstand. Superline with
:12:56. > :13:00.her handstand. She locks the legs together using the stoop action and
:13:01. > :13:05.super height no. Doubting she is go to catch that. She sees the bar
:13:06. > :13:11.easily. Every handstand has to be held and shown and she really works
:13:12. > :13:15.with great style. She catches the front somersault with the arms fully
:13:16. > :13:21.straight. That's again something that if the arms are bent the judges
:13:22. > :13:24.deduct for. Look at that pirouette. Finished at the top of the swing,
:13:25. > :13:28.immediately in the full-twisting double back. She has a high
:13:29. > :13:34.difficulty level. I bet you her score will be high. Snoonchts a
:13:35. > :13:38.fabulous score from Aliya Mustafina. She is at the top of the standings.
:13:39. > :13:43.Could that be enough for her to defend her European title? Well,
:13:44. > :13:49.that's the top score we have had of these Championships. 15.266. It is.
:13:50. > :13:54.As Beth said, it was the best performance we have seen but Rebecca
:13:55. > :14:01.Downie now knows that she has to perform the highest deafy she can
:14:02. > :14:07.here. For Great Britain, Becky Downie needs to pull out all the
:14:08. > :14:15.stops if she is going to win a medal on the uneven bars.
:14:16. > :14:21.She has given two solid performances for the team. Hasn't always done her
:14:22. > :14:26.most difficult routine. Needs it now. The full element. Fabulous.
:14:27. > :14:31.Beautifully flighted. Watch now the full pirouette. Hits it really well.
:14:32. > :14:36.Into the stoop catches. I'm sure we will see another big release. Here
:14:37. > :14:42.we go. The second one, straight into the packed salto. She is going for
:14:43. > :14:47.broke. This is the final test. This is tricky. She has to swing turn.
:14:48. > :14:52.She goes the right way. Must hold on and lift this dismount. She does.
:14:53. > :14:57.Absolutely fabulous work from Becky Downie. It is the routine we have
:14:58. > :15:01.been wanting and waiting for. Look at that emotion. You know what, she
:15:02. > :15:08.has been waiting for that. She has been in so many European and world
:15:09. > :15:14.finals. She has landed and it has overcome her. A great start. Forward
:15:15. > :15:18.toe on. Strayed into the next move and into the short clear catcher. A
:15:19. > :15:22.massive start for that routine and sets the judges' eyes. Such
:15:23. > :15:35.difficult work, Beth. The combinations she uses. Yes. Such a
:15:36. > :15:41.hard combination when you are tired and then the... She held her feet on
:15:42. > :15:45.the grounds. You can see her British team-mates. They have been training
:15:46. > :15:54.with her day in, day out. They know what it must mean to her. The
:15:55. > :15:58.waiting is agonising. 6.2 in qualifying. She upped it
:15:59. > :16:02.considerably. If they can give her anything, it could be as high as
:16:03. > :16:07.6.6. Let's keep our eyes on it. There's only one gymnast to come.
:16:08. > :16:12.So, we should know whether she's amongst the medals. It says it all -
:16:13. > :16:18.she's got into the gold medal position. 15.5. Look at that
:16:19. > :16:23.elation! She is guaranteed a medal. It could even be gold. The emotion
:16:24. > :16:31.comes pouring out for Rebecca Downie.
:16:32. > :16:37.So pleased for her. Obviously she's had so many injuries and kept
:16:38. > :16:56.fighting back. Scheder of Germany. On the uneven
:16:57. > :17:00.bars. Starts with the handstand into the stoop fall. Had to fight it
:17:01. > :17:12.back. Straight into the stoop-half. The
:17:13. > :17:22.coach is stepping in. The Jager somersault - clean cleanly done.
:17:23. > :17:28.Winding up into the dismount. And a near-perfect landing. Another
:17:29. > :17:34.difficult routine. A difficulty of 6.4 in qualifications. So, this
:17:35. > :17:37.routine can go high and push into the medals there. For Rebecca
:17:38. > :17:43.Downie, the wait is whether she's got gold or silver. That is not a
:17:44. > :17:50.bad position to be in, is it? It is not. I am happy to put money down
:17:51. > :17:54.that she has got that gold medal. And uses very effectively, Scheder,
:17:55. > :18:00.the stoop action. She is a tall gymnast. She was the European Junior
:18:01. > :18:04.Champion on uneven bars. Lovely lines. Just had a bit of a fight on
:18:05. > :18:19.that pirouette. Swings effectively. Accelerates into
:18:20. > :18:26.her dismount. A favoured dismount. A full twist. In the double back, but
:18:27. > :18:31.nicely landed and performed. Here is Sophie Scheder's score. She has gone
:18:32. > :18:37.into fifth place. That means Rebecca Downie is the European Champion on
:18:38. > :18:44.the uneven bars. What a result for Great Britain. The flags will be
:18:45. > :18:49.raised for her. She is the Europe pine champion on the uneven bars.
:18:50. > :18:54.She takes gold ahead of Aliya Mustafina of Russia. Spir spir spir
:18:55. > :19:05.w the bronze. Rebecca Tunney -- Daria Spiridonova with the bronze.
:19:06. > :19:13.Rebecca Tunney in fourth. What a proud moment for Becky
:19:14. > :19:19.Downie. She is the European Champion. She is sniffing back some
:19:20. > :19:24.tears. The emotion is there. She is the gold medallist - European
:19:25. > :19:29.Champion. The second British woman to be crowned European champion. She
:19:30. > :19:35.really gave a fabulous performance. She didn't hold back. She went for
:19:36. > :19:39.everything. She knew she had to by the time her performance came. That
:19:40. > :19:43.is one of the things about going late. She could have performed
:19:44. > :19:48.earlier and thought, I will go for safety, just to get a medal. She
:19:49. > :19:52.knew, to be in the medals - it has been a great final - she knew she
:19:53. > :19:55.had to go for broke. She did just that and it took every bit of
:19:56. > :20:00.resolve. Now, she may be blinking back a few
:20:01. > :20:52.more tears! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
:20:53. > :21:00.What a moment! The gold medal around her neck, she is the European Bars
:21:01. > :21:02.Champion. What an achievement for her.
:21:03. > :21:09.Raze Ray congratulations - European Champion. I can not believe it. It
:21:10. > :21:14.has not sunk in. What was it like out there today? You said you could
:21:15. > :21:17.play it safe or go big and you went big.
:21:18. > :21:22.There was a bit of doubt in the back of my mind this morning. I was like,
:21:23. > :21:28.if I go big and it doesn't come off I will kick myself. Or if it does
:21:29. > :21:31.come off, it could be a gold medal performance. I had one mistake at
:21:32. > :21:37.the end of the routine. For me, I didn't try and go for that last
:21:38. > :21:41.handstand. I troo I keep it safe. I have not seen the start of the
:21:42. > :21:45.routine yet. I am really happy it paid off. It was an amazing score
:21:46. > :21:50.and to finish ahead of the Olympic champion as well. It is an amazing
:21:51. > :21:54.feeling. I knew it was possible. I have worked so hard on the routine I
:21:55. > :22:00.was so amazing for it a all to come together. It was fantastic to watch!
:22:01. > :22:06.Just to put it in context as well, people know 2006 was the last time
:22:07. > :22:11.you won an individual medal at the Commonwealth Games - to have got one
:22:12. > :22:15.must have been amazing? I knew it would be a medal. I didn't know what
:22:16. > :22:19.colour. I think it was relief because I had worked so hard for it.
:22:20. > :22:23.In every final I have missed, it has been harder to pick myself up and
:22:24. > :22:27.tell myself that I'll get there and that every time I miss it again, I
:22:28. > :22:31.am like, is this worth snit to have this moment today, it means so much
:22:32. > :22:38.to me. I am so proud. Of course it is worth it! Look - that smile says
:22:39. > :22:42.it all. She beat Mustafina. She beat her fair and square, didn't she?
:22:43. > :22:49.That is the thing. You cannot say she won it because someone else
:22:50. > :22:54.failed. Every gymnast performed well. She won it fair and square. We
:22:55. > :23:00.heard Rebecca talk about that deliberation over breakfast. What a
:23:01. > :23:05.trauma tick time to think, what -- traumatic time to think, what do I
:23:06. > :23:13.do? I know there have been talks between them and Amanda. I know
:23:14. > :23:19.Amanda was insisant on get her into the play -- insistent on get her to
:23:20. > :23:23.play safe. For her to deliberate over breakfast this morning...
:23:24. > :23:27.Amanda always made the decision for myself. I remember, obviously
:23:28. > :23:31.through your routines, you would watch that confidence grow and build
:23:32. > :23:36.throughout the actual routine. You could sense it there with Becky.
:23:37. > :23:40.When she landed and that emotion - just that release and relief as she
:23:41. > :23:44.is walking back - you can see what it means. You can see. Obviously
:23:45. > :23:48.they were saying, it is 2006 when she lost won an individual medal.
:23:49. > :23:53.She's been in so many individual finals. It has not yet come off. So,
:23:54. > :23:57.the fact she's finally done it - it all came out and she couldn't
:23:58. > :24:03.control it. It is so nice to show that. It shows what it means to her.
:24:04. > :24:09.What proud parents. Her mum was in the audience and the fact she has
:24:10. > :24:14.two champions - I think there'll be a few parties tonight! If we can
:24:15. > :24:16.contain ourselveses and if Becky can keep her composure. Let's look at
:24:17. > :24:47.the start list here. We will join this competition with
:24:48. > :25:03.the third highest qualifier and we will see how this competition goes.
:25:04. > :25:13.26 years of age - the oldest performer in these championships.
:25:14. > :25:15.There we go into the acrobatics. A slight wobble. Very graceful on this
:25:16. > :25:41.piece of apparatus. That is interesting - a full leap -
:25:42. > :25:48.very difficult. Very hard to control.
:25:49. > :25:56.Another interesting, full pirouette on one foot.
:25:57. > :26:07.Nice originality. And she wobbles to stay on the beam. Very well fought
:26:08. > :26:11.there! Those nerves showing slightly. A standing back
:26:12. > :26:25.somersault. Qualified in third place.
:26:26. > :26:32.She'll have to stick the dismount and then we have another gain - a
:26:33. > :26:38.full twist off the end of the beam. Lots of mistakes there.
:26:39. > :26:43.Yes, a little bit of a disappointing performance. She did well in
:26:44. > :26:48.qualification. The free walkout. The leg into the side. That is her
:26:49. > :26:53.acrobatic series. The judges have to decide whether she linked them
:26:54. > :26:59.completely. Gymnasts have to work low on the
:27:00. > :27:04.beam. This is the change-leg leap, with half-turn. She did not quite
:27:05. > :27:09.get the shoulder around. She fought and fought. She was not giving up,
:27:10. > :27:15.was she? I am sure they were all meant to be linked.
:27:16. > :27:20.This is - row have to travel away from the beam and somersault - it is
:27:21. > :27:22.difficult. It is a bit unspectacular.
:27:23. > :28:04.13.7 p .733. Linked to the side somersault. A
:28:05. > :28:13.super change. The back-flip with half-turn. Wept for that connection
:28:14. > :28:25.beautifully. A double spin. She's done a big change and a walkover.
:28:26. > :28:31.That's her acrobatic series. You have to do forward and backward
:28:32. > :28:42.elements. She uses a relatively simple backflip.
:28:43. > :28:52.The judges have to decide, did the head touch the foot? She's been very
:28:53. > :28:56.composed so far. Barely a flicker. This has been good. Quite a long
:28:57. > :29:04.pause at the end. They will deduct here. A big round-off. Double tuck.
:29:05. > :29:10.She wants that medal, having lost out to the gold. She really looks
:29:11. > :29:14.like she's after something here. A magnificent performance there.
:29:15. > :29:19.Coming straight from the bars. Over here, very measured, very solid. She
:29:20. > :29:37.was almost glued to the beam. Look at that! The jumps, split leg-leap.
:29:38. > :29:45.A great landing. Back to business for Mustafina. She has put herself
:29:46. > :29:49.into a strong position. 14.733 for Aliya Mustafina.
:29:50. > :29:54.Can Maria Kharenkova challenge? Qualified in second place. Straight
:29:55. > :30:04.to business. There's a front somersault, in the
:30:05. > :30:22.acrobatic series. Wow, that is fantastic beam work.
:30:23. > :30:32.Straight into the split leaps. Great control there. Full turn, full turn.
:30:33. > :30:36.Beautiful beam work. Free cartwheel. Split leg leap. Into the piked back
:30:37. > :31:01.somersault. Great difficulty. Sees' only 16. There is another
:31:02. > :31:11.leap. Beautiful flexibility. Split leap half turn.
:31:12. > :31:18.Now she'll need to compose herself for something special here. Flick,
:31:19. > :31:26.flick, double pike back. Wow. What a routine, that. A jam packed routine.
:31:27. > :31:30.Flipped to unw flipped to two. Straight back. No question of it
:31:31. > :31:42.being straight. As high as can be two. Backflips. Double pike. A very
:31:43. > :31:50.good score. 14.933. That difficulty, 6.4. Approximate puts her into the
:31:51. > :31:55.lead. Now, on beam. The defending champion, Larisa Iordache of
:31:56. > :32:00.Romania. And Iordache can match anybody on beam for difficulty but
:32:01. > :32:08.it is very risky. What this first backflip. Stand up, full twisting
:32:09. > :32:11.tuck. Landed very nicely indeed. But not content with one super
:32:12. > :32:16.difficulty. She comes straight back. This is a round off. A straight
:32:17. > :32:29.somersault and just a wobble on that. She held that really very well
:32:30. > :32:35.indeed. Super control and amplitude. All gymnast have to include a full
:32:36. > :32:42.spin. Links the leaps. The changed leg leap into the changed leg half.
:32:43. > :32:47.More bonuses added there. A free walkover. No question of it being
:32:48. > :32:58.joined. But, again, a tiny little wobble there. A side somersault. The
:32:59. > :33:04.gymnasts lose sight of the beam there.
:33:05. > :33:11.This has been a strong performance and this, such originalality in the
:33:12. > :33:16.dismount. Watch. Round-off, backflip. Punch up high. Triple
:33:17. > :33:22.twist. Just a little hop. That was a strong challenge from Iordache. A
:33:23. > :33:25.couple of tiny wobbles but very difficult. Very difficult. Round
:33:26. > :33:31.off, straight back. That's where she did well to stay on the beam. Great
:33:32. > :33:38.leaps. I'm sure there will be no doubt with the combination. Look at
:33:39. > :33:44.that split leap half turn. A free walkover. A free cartwheel and look
:33:45. > :33:52.at this dismount. Round off flick. Triple twist. ! Well, she won't be
:33:53. > :33:58.defending her title but Larisa Iordache ghoos second place. Becky
:33:59. > :34:02.Downie, then. The European champion on bars. Can she turn what has
:34:03. > :34:11.already been a brilliant day into a spectacular day, with a medal on
:34:12. > :34:16.beam? Who knows. Becky Downie is a beautifully fluent, elegant gymnast.
:34:17. > :34:24.But it will be quite a test to have come from the high er perform here.
:34:25. > :34:42.But that was a lovely front somersault. A little hop on landing.
:34:43. > :34:45.Lovely technique. She's a super supple gymnast, Becky.
:34:46. > :34:51.And you can see, with those leaps, every gymnast has to join two leaps.
:34:52. > :34:58.That was hers. Big deductions if you don't. Full spin backwards and then
:34:59. > :35:02.the free walkover, immediate split jump. She's going for those
:35:03. > :35:07.connections. She knows if she wants to push into the medals, she really
:35:08. > :35:14.has to go for all the connections. Really good side somersault.
:35:15. > :35:19.This is important. The leap with the head back and she does that very
:35:20. > :35:24.well indeed. Head taken all the way back.
:35:25. > :35:27.Now, the legs have to do some power work for the last time in this
:35:28. > :35:35.Championships. Big round off, big push. Double pike. Super stuff from
:35:36. > :35:40.Becky Downie. She is on fire. Woo-hoo, what a performance there
:35:41. > :35:44.from Becky Downie. I don't know where that confidence has come from
:35:45. > :35:49.that. Gold medal from the bars has transformed on to the beam. So much
:35:50. > :35:55.confidence and control. Look at this. In the free cartwheel, into
:35:56. > :35:59.the layout somersault A front walkover. Into the split leap.
:36:00. > :36:06.Fantastic flexibility. And probably the highest double pike dismount we
:36:07. > :36:14.have seen on the beam in this final. Just outside the medals for Becky
:36:15. > :36:21.Downie 14.366. She knows. She is European champion on bars.
:36:22. > :36:38.The final competitor. From France. Just 16. Qualified down in 7th.
:36:39. > :36:46.The gymnast need an A mount difficulty. So they can compose
:36:47. > :36:53.themselves. A flick layout. Very precise. Free walkover and side
:36:54. > :37:07.somersault. Very difficult full spin. Showing
:37:08. > :37:27.control and flexibility there. A split leap. A split leap the half
:37:28. > :37:32.turn. A very elegant gymnast. A free cartwheel. I think this is the first
:37:33. > :37:37.French gymnast we have seen in these finals. There we go into the round
:37:38. > :37:43.off, double pike. Over unfortunate landing there. Out too soon. So, big
:37:44. > :37:48.celebrations there from the Russian team. They know they've got the
:37:49. > :37:56.medals. They know they've got one and two. We wait for the score to
:37:57. > :38:04.come in from Claire Martin to wrap up proceedings. 13.366 puts her in
:38:05. > :38:16.7th. It means Becky Downie will finish in fourth, just outside the
:38:17. > :38:20.medals for her. So the reigning World Champion takes the bronze and
:38:21. > :38:24.Becky Downie is heading in the right direction on the beam certainly but
:38:25. > :38:29.has a gold and that's what she will remember from these Championships,
:38:30. > :38:35.in that bars' final. Gold as we know on the uneven bars.
:38:36. > :38:39.In the beam just missing out on the podium? I was on such a high after
:38:40. > :38:43.bars. It was emotion A everyone knows I have waited so long to get
:38:44. > :38:48.this medal. I had about ten minutes to go into the back ji. I changed
:38:49. > :38:54.leotards to freshen up and get my head back in it. I had a quick go on
:38:55. > :38:59.the beam. My warm-up was pathetic. My coach said to me - calm down, you
:39:00. > :39:04.know the routine. I went in to enjoy it. The last few things I have done
:39:05. > :39:10.on beam has been huge pressure for the team so. There was relief that
:39:11. > :39:19.pressure had gone. I wanted to enjoy T and to produce the best beam
:39:20. > :39:24.result I had at these champions and the first beam final, I couldn't ask
:39:25. > :39:29.for any more. It must take a lot to regain that composure, as you well
:39:30. > :39:35.know. She went into the back gym. Changed leotard and tried to change
:39:36. > :39:39.the frame of mind. In the back of her head she knows she is European
:39:40. > :39:43.quhach yob and was so overwithheld. But like she said, with the team
:39:44. > :39:47.there was so much pressure. Whereas today there was - I might as well
:39:48. > :39:53.enjoy it. I have the medal I want. Let's see what could happen on beam.
:39:54. > :39:57.Well, we are now going to move on to floor. Two time European champion
:39:58. > :40:03.yourself there. You always - I mean you were the Queen of getting the
:40:04. > :40:08.crowds clapping. Looking at Claudia Fragapane, she has a real style and
:40:09. > :40:11.zest in her routine. If you watch it. It is very different. It has
:40:12. > :40:15.break dancing half way through. I don't know, it is a routine you want
:40:16. > :40:19.to watch. The tumbling is unbelievable. She has just, in the
:40:20. > :40:23.past year, upgraded so much. It is definitely one for the future. I
:40:24. > :40:27.love the break dancing bit. If youp haven't seen it in the semifinal,
:40:28. > :40:33.you will love T let's look and see who she is going to be up against in
:40:34. > :40:40.the final: she was the second-highest qualifier. The
:40:41. > :40:44.highest qualifier, Larisa Iordache looking to add to her tally. We have
:40:45. > :40:49.European champion in 2007 all the way up to a second in 2013. Vanessa
:40:50. > :40:54.Ferrari has been on the scene for ages. Anyway, let's hear from
:40:55. > :40:59.Claudia Fragapane. She will talk us through her classy, cutting-edge
:41:00. > :41:03.qualifying performance. I wanted to go out there and do the best of my
:41:04. > :41:08.ability. I wanted to make the finals but I wanted a good qualitification
:41:09. > :41:11.for the team as well. They were just like helping me through that
:41:12. > :41:16.routine, so with the full in straight, it felt quite solid to me.
:41:17. > :41:21.The double straight I did quite well. Anyway it came to the double
:41:22. > :41:26.Arabian, I kind of got more nervous that's one like that I have to go
:41:27. > :41:32.hard but then control and then the double pike, I just needed to land
:41:33. > :41:39.on my feet. Talk to you me about the street dancing bit. My coaches tried
:41:40. > :41:44.to teach me the back spin. I liked that. I put my input N the first one
:41:45. > :41:51.I put my head all the way around to make it more unique. So, yes.
:41:52. > :41:59.-- I put my input in. A huge moment for Claudia Fragapane.
:42:00. > :42:01.16. Performing in the floor final. Keep your eyes wide open for this
:42:02. > :42:13.first tumble. Big, powerful round off flip. Double
:42:14. > :42:24.straight with full twist. Just gets those feet down.
:42:25. > :42:30.Now, another big tumble to come. Double straight. Floats ta one.
:42:31. > :42:40.Gives it more but stays inside the area.
:42:41. > :42:53.Super control and height on the leaps.
:42:54. > :43:06.And this is the third big, big tumble. She needs her legs working
:43:07. > :43:12.there just fine. The big double Arabian.
:43:13. > :43:17.Such a difficult leap. She's matching the tumbling with the
:43:18. > :43:22.leaps. She's now got to really concentrate.
:43:23. > :43:27.Find the floor at the right time. Super stuff.
:43:28. > :43:32.What a routine from Claudia Fragapane. That first tumble looked
:43:33. > :43:38.just a little bit tired but she's had a fantastic Championships and
:43:39. > :43:45.fighting right to the very end. Well, that was a sick performance.
:43:46. > :43:50.Look at this in the first tumble. This is massive. Double straight
:43:51. > :43:54.second tumble. The first was the double straight with full twist.
:43:55. > :44:00.Look at the height on the leaps. The originalality. Love the break
:44:01. > :44:07.dancing. Look at this here. That's the influence of the young coach.
:44:08. > :44:11.Maybe she has seen me in my day strutting my stuff in a few
:44:12. > :44:17.nightclubs. Look at this, double Arabian, controlled it well. She is
:44:18. > :44:24.under immense measure -- pressure. Look at thchl the power. Double pike
:44:25. > :44:33.back. None chantly done. In third place with 14.133. The difficulty of
:44:34. > :44:38.6. A little down on the execution. Here is the potential big challenge.
:44:39. > :44:44.Larisa Iordache, the 2012 European floor champion.
:44:45. > :44:54.Top qualifier. Very dynamic. This a big tumble. Watch. Double twisting,
:44:55. > :44:59.double back. A little pace forwards but controlled well. And turns
:45:00. > :45:02.immediately into this second big but controlled well. And turns
:45:03. > :45:08.tumble full-twisting double back. This is new rules - the gymnasts
:45:09. > :45:13.aren't allowed to just stand in the corners and wait. A little bit of a
:45:14. > :45:31.mishap on the spin. She made the triple. She has to turn straight in
:45:32. > :45:36.and go for the tumble. Quite a lot more difficult. It is easy to be
:45:37. > :46:00.disorientated. That was a super triple.
:46:01. > :46:08.Off she goes. Really needs to use her strength and experience. She
:46:09. > :46:13.does just. That very nicely flighted.
:46:14. > :46:22.Strong performance. Right to the very end there from Larisa Iordache.
:46:23. > :46:29.Bravo! A mature performance there. It shows the preparation is key. The
:46:30. > :46:35.first tumble is very difficult. The only real error she had on the
:46:36. > :46:43.tumbles, she quickly turns back around. A much cleaner landing.
:46:44. > :46:48.So, precise on the tumble. There you go! There's a triple
:46:49. > :46:56.twist. She likes that. Why not? 14.8 puts
:46:57. > :47:02.her into gold medal position. Fabulous work from Larisa Iordache.
:47:03. > :47:07.Giulia Steingruber of Switzerland. She was fifth on the floors in
:47:08. > :47:24.Antwerp. Look at the power and the height of
:47:25. > :47:39.those jumps. This will be the big opener. Full-twisting, double double
:47:40. > :47:47.back straight. Double layout. Magnificent tumbling.
:47:48. > :48:28.There's the turn. Into the third tumble. Double tuck.
:48:29. > :48:39.Needs to keep that focus. Double pike. Magnificent.
:48:40. > :48:44.Reelingly nice floor routine. She's a very -- really nice floor routine.
:48:45. > :48:51.She's a very good competitor. We have seen the pou frer the vault.
:48:52. > :48:57.Won -- power from the vault. Won the vault already. This - the opening
:48:58. > :49:05.tumble - two somersaults in the straight position, with a
:49:06. > :49:09.full-twist. These floors are allowing the gymnasts to explore the
:49:10. > :49:15.more difficult tumbles. The body travels so much slower through the
:49:16. > :49:22.air when it is straight. Shorten the radius into the pike and it whizes
:49:23. > :49:29.around. It with us a fan -- whizzes around. It had everything.
:49:30. > :49:34.Into second position - 14.5 for Giulia Steingruber. That was a
:49:35. > :49:41.fabulous routine. Vanessa Ferrari. 23 years of age.
:49:42. > :49:47.Former European floor champion, back in 2007.
:49:48. > :49:51.And Vanessa Ferrari, last year's European Championships, she took the
:49:52. > :50:01.silver medal. She hasn't meddled here. She will be very -- got a
:50:02. > :50:11.medal here. She will be very keen to do her best.
:50:12. > :50:19.Oond another big tumble here to come. We are double straight in the
:50:20. > :50:30.second. Really impressive stuff here. So, we have seen two huge
:50:31. > :50:36.tumbles. A third and a full-twisting-back. She is packing
:50:37. > :50:54.the power in here. Strong leaps.
:50:55. > :51:07.Sets up for another difficult leap. Turn, with the head back.
:51:08. > :51:13.So, she's had difficult tumbling, difficult leaps. She needs a very
:51:14. > :51:20.impressive fipish here. A deep -- finish here. A deep breath. Double
:51:21. > :51:25.pike - yes, she can really land well.
:51:26. > :51:34.And a smile sells that routine. A strong bid for a medal there. What a
:51:35. > :51:38.performance that! I thought it was an amazing routine. It had
:51:39. > :51:45.everything. This floor final will be separated on the landings. For me,
:51:46. > :51:49.she had the best landing so far. On a nine pence - the only difficult
:51:50. > :52:00.landing she had was the first tumble, which was the huge
:52:01. > :52:05.double-twisting, double back - beautiful choreography. Look at this
:52:06. > :52:13.tumble here! Right down to the end. Pops into that double pike. Bang!
:52:14. > :52:19.For me, that might be the best performance we have seen. She goes
:52:20. > :52:24.top! She goes into the lead w one more gymnast to come - she's
:52:25. > :52:28.guaranteed a medal. She goes into gold medal position.
:52:29. > :52:32.Alla Sosnitskaya, 17 years of age and her first European Championships
:52:33. > :52:46.on the floor. Great control there in the spins.
:52:47. > :52:55.Funky music! We like it. Powerful double layout!
:52:56. > :53:12.Into the second flick - triple twist. Great control!
:53:13. > :54:06.The final tumble. Crank it up. A double tuck. Well, then! A beautiful
:54:07. > :54:10.performance. Not classical in the performance, but in her skills.
:54:11. > :54:24.Always straight legs - beautiful feet. In time with the music, but
:54:25. > :54:30.not quite the... A little flicker on the knees. The judges will deduct a
:54:31. > :54:35.bit there. This - nice - two flips. A triple twist.
:54:36. > :54:48.A tiny bit off with the feet but she controlled it well.
:54:49. > :54:54.And double pike. A step backwards. And there, the double tuck to
:54:55. > :55:00.finish. So sixth place for Alla Sosnitskaya.

:55:26. > :55:27.Seven years on, she takes the gold medal once more. This is how it has
:55:28. > :55:57.finished in the women's floor final. How have you found your first taste
:55:58. > :56:02.of European finals? Amazing. I didn't get what I wanted. It was
:56:03. > :56:06.just amazing. I feel so happy, like whatever I have done, I am proud and
:56:07. > :56:09.everyone else is. Talk me through the floor routine. I don't really
:56:10. > :56:14.know what happened. I think I felt, the floor routine. I don't really
:56:15. > :56:23.my legs felt really jelly. I didn't feel... I obviously hit the other
:56:24. > :56:30.two teams. I was like, oh, no, and then it came to the double straight.
:56:31. > :56:35.Then double Arabian, OK and then the double pike. I thought, I've done it
:56:36. > :56:40.now. I have made two finals. I am pleased with that. Christine Still
:56:41. > :56:47.joins us from what must have been an emotional weekend! Very emotional
:56:48. > :56:52.weekend. I think, really when we saw Becky sort of burst into tears on
:56:53. > :56:55.the landing of the dismount, it was very difficult not to be bursting
:56:56. > :57:07.into tears in the commentary box because we have lived through all
:57:08. > :57:11.those triumph ofs. It has been a successful championships. It has
:57:12. > :57:16.been fantastic. An amazing weekend for the British girls. We have to
:57:17. > :57:20.mention the Downie family - not just Becky but Ellie as well. If you
:57:21. > :57:24.missed it earlier on, this is Rebecca Downie winning gold in the
:57:25. > :57:30.European senior uneven bars final. So, here we go. Go on, Beth, talks
:57:31. > :57:34.through this again. You felt that confidence building throughout the
:57:35. > :57:39.performance. She's had two great competitions leading into this. She
:57:40. > :57:46.went for the harder routine. The thing is with bek di, when -- Becky,
:57:47. > :57:53.when she goes for something, she gives it 110%. There's the big
:57:54. > :57:57.connection down to the low bar. That is what upped her difficulty.
:57:58. > :58:02.This is the hard connection, right at the end when she was tired. She
:58:03. > :58:07.knows she had to put the dismount on her feet and the emotion came
:58:08. > :58:13.flooding out of her. You felt it with her. Absolutely! That was as
:58:14. > :58:19.good a routine as we have seen her do. I have watched her in training
:58:20. > :58:28.this past month. It was very good. Her sister, Elli, taking gold in the
:58:29. > :58:32.juniors. . Right -- Ellie, taking gold in the juniors.
:58:33. > :58:43.How will the medals transfer to the gym? We have a lot of good juniors
:58:44. > :58:47.underneath. We have a good generation of young coaches as well.
:58:48. > :58:51.Several of whom were out there with their gymnasts. I think they now
:58:52. > :58:55.will be working towards the expectation of winning medals, not
:58:56. > :59:07.just making the British team, but intending to make finals. It has
:59:08. > :59:13.been a lony club -- - a lonely club. There is more for you to look
