:00:47. > :00:53.Well, hello and welcome to coverage of the European Gymnasitcs
:00:54. > :00:57.Championships, live from Bern in Switzerland with Beth Tweddle and
:00:58. > :01:03.Daniel Keatings. It's all about the man with the women following next
:01:04. > :01:07.weekend. The competition is about to start. Let's bring you up-to-date
:01:08. > :01:13.with what's been happening. Great Britain, the 2012 team champions
:01:14. > :01:21.Waller 548 finals in all including today's team final. They qualified
:01:22. > :01:26.in second, 0.7 behind Russia. The big news for Great Britain is that
:01:27. > :01:31.the world champion on the pommel horse Max Whitlock is missing from
:01:32. > :01:35.Great Britain 's line-up. This is basically to protect him for Rio. He
:01:36. > :01:41.is worth at least three marks extra for the team total? How much will it
:01:42. > :01:45.affect the dynamic? Obviously it's a disappointment that Max is not there
:01:46. > :01:49.but it won't change the dynamic in the team spirit, they are so used to
:01:50. > :01:53.training together at the National sports centre, they are like a team
:01:54. > :01:59.of brothers anyway. Whether you have someone else in or out it really
:02:00. > :02:04.does not matter. We are going to lose his points on the pommel horse
:02:05. > :02:08.but we will gain on the rings which was weakest piece because Courtney
:02:09. > :02:15.can score towards 15.5 and he is in the individual final as well. The
:02:16. > :02:19.first gymnast will be Nile Wilson for Great Britain. He is working
:02:20. > :02:26.every single piece today, so he has a big job on his hands. The very
:02:27. > :02:34.first tumble is so important and he lands it cleanly.
:02:35. > :02:44.That was a super double-twisting double tuck, just a small pace but
:02:45. > :02:53.kept well inside the white lines. Roll out. Each gymnast is allowed
:02:54. > :02:54.one of those in the floor routine. Super comptroller on the landing,
:02:55. > :03:13.there. -- super control. He holds the handstand. That's a
:03:14. > :03:24.requirement. It is so important to finish the routine well. Another
:03:25. > :03:28.secure forward tumbling pass. Each of these moves builds the
:03:29. > :03:34.difficulty. Here comes the big final tumble. Triple twist. Just a little
:03:35. > :03:38.hop to the side. Very good opening for Great Britain. Superb start.
:03:39. > :03:43.Each country nominates three gymnasts to compete on each piece
:03:44. > :03:50.and every single score counts. Every 10th given away will be vital.
:03:51. > :03:57.Absolutely, solid performance, a few little shovels and places where
:03:58. > :04:00.judges could take the odd 10th, but Nile is spatially aware and he
:04:01. > :04:05.stands up well into the twist and opens out to spot the flaw. Maybe
:04:06. > :04:14.not fully round so that maybe a bit of a deduction. Good consistency,
:04:15. > :04:18.all three scores to count. Into the live competition so quickly I did
:04:19. > :04:22.not get the chance to introduce Craig but it's always lovely to have
:04:23. > :04:28.you with us. We are over with Ukraine now on the pommel horse.
:04:29. > :04:36.Daniel Keatings is dull with us. Great stuff for Great Britain?
:04:37. > :04:40.Definitely. -- is still with us. The team with the most clean routines is
:04:41. > :04:46.going to win this and it's a really important routine. It's quite a
:04:47. > :04:54.young Ukraine team, lots of gymnasts we are seeing for the first time. He
:04:55. > :05:00.is just 19 years old. Second at the youth Olympics in 2014 on this
:05:01. > :05:06.piece. Straight in there, single legwork, into the handstand. And
:05:07. > :05:11.again. Nice control. Great amplitude, there. With the
:05:12. > :05:17.separation of the legs. As he winds up into the handstand. That was a
:05:18. > :05:25.slight mistake. Contact with the horse. Landing heavily. He needs to
:05:26. > :05:35.regain his composure. Good on one handle. He is starting to settle
:05:36. > :05:46.into the routine. There is the one handle Circle. Steps down. The
:05:47. > :05:51.traditional Magyar. He connects. One handle, up into the handstand. A
:05:52. > :05:56.slight adjustment. Pirouette. A few errors. That was heavy in parts. It
:05:57. > :06:06.was indeed and that was a heavy hit on the apparatus. Nile has scored
:06:07. > :06:10.14.9, the first performance, the first of three. Kristian Thomas is
:06:11. > :06:15.the next gymnast to go, the current European champion on floor. He's in
:06:16. > :06:21.the floor final tomorrow as well. He is a just Eddie member of Great
:06:22. > :06:26.Britain's team. They will need all of his composure here. Whip in two
:06:27. > :06:31.double pike, to Arabian. Quite a tall gymnast, he can't run too far
:06:32. > :06:36.across before he has to make the tumbles. Double twist, full twisting
:06:37. > :06:45.front. Good anticipation of the floor. Two and a half twists into
:06:46. > :06:52.the front somersault with half turn. The judges are looking to deduct for
:06:53. > :06:54.every error. I love that. An interesting take on a
:06:55. > :07:05.straightforward handspring to an immediate roll-out. Gymnasts showing
:07:06. > :07:16.their work close to the floor. Good control in the handstand. Real power
:07:17. > :07:23.through the shoulders. The judges are looking for clean landings, high
:07:24. > :07:30.tumbles. Double Arabian, that is a great finish. Just what we have come
:07:31. > :07:35.to expect from Kristian Thomas. Dan, you are applauding your team-mate! A
:07:36. > :07:40.lot of pressure in that routine, he is the team captain, and obviously
:07:41. > :07:45.he is such an amazing person to have in the team because you know he will
:07:46. > :07:50.always go out there and do the job. 27 years old but still looks by the
:07:51. > :07:54.much in control and on form. It's amazing what he's doing at the age
:07:55. > :08:04.that he is. Hopefully he can keep it going and help the team to win more
:08:05. > :08:11.medals. 14.1 there for the Ukraine. Oleg Verniaiev is the next to go. It
:08:12. > :08:18.is his sixth World Championships on the pommel horse. His result was
:08:19. > :08:23.fifth in the European Championships a few years ago. Look at his body
:08:24. > :08:27.shape. This is the man to watch, straight down to business, fluid up
:08:28. > :08:35.into the handstand and back down, not a flicker. That's much better.
:08:36. > :08:41.Oh! There was a slight pause there as he goes back into the single
:08:42. > :08:48.handle work. Only scored 14 point 283. Maybe this is not his favoured
:08:49. > :08:58.piece of apparatus. Confident on the one handle. He travels into the
:08:59. > :09:05.Russian Wendy on the end of the horse. He keeps his momentum up for
:09:06. > :09:09.the Magyar. He connects straightaway into the Giovanni Vio. Straight into
:09:10. > :09:14.the handstand, no hesitation into the pirouette dismount. Even at this
:09:15. > :09:19.early stage the door is open for Switzerland, they are looking to
:09:20. > :09:24.medal in front of the home crowd. Switzerland ahead in third. Ukraine
:09:25. > :09:28.are a very young team, they had to go to the test event to qualify for
:09:29. > :09:32.the Olympics and they did not make the team final at the World
:09:33. > :09:36.Championships and these young gymnasts have come into the senior
:09:37. > :09:45.ranks. They are a bit inexperienced. That is a huge floor score for
:09:46. > :09:49.Kristian Thomas. Two down, one to go, Dan Purvis is the third and
:09:50. > :09:52.final gymnast for Great Britain on the floor. Every single score
:09:53. > :09:59.counts. Lovely double-twisting double back. These gymnasts doing
:10:00. > :10:04.these huge skills with ease. One and a half in two double front. Just a
:10:05. > :10:14.little scurry on the landing. He needs to settle a tiny bit. There he
:10:15. > :10:20.does. That was superb, double front, completely blind landing. He
:10:21. > :10:27.anticipates the floor. Wraps in the twists. Beautiful, classy gymnast,
:10:28. > :10:45.Dan. Stylish. He needs another well controlled
:10:46. > :10:49.landing. The roll-out. And he does. That is quite a trademark, rolling
:10:50. > :10:57.up without having to put the hands down. This is the important tumble,
:10:58. > :11:00.the important landing. Whip back, double Arabian tuck, he's made it!
:11:01. > :11:07.Great performance from Great Britain. Just kept his toes in.
:11:08. > :11:11.Great control. There is a good vibe out there for Great Britain? They
:11:12. > :11:16.all look really up for it, three out of three good routines, that is all
:11:17. > :11:21.you can ask for. You are always most nervous on the first apparatus.
:11:22. > :11:26.Absolute dominance on the floor from Dan Purvis, such control, showing
:11:27. > :11:32.his world-class performance on the floor. A few little wobbles but the
:11:33. > :11:40.idea is that these guys can just go around with nothing to major. We
:11:41. > :11:52.will have a good chance. A first look at the vaulters. Big scores on
:11:53. > :11:56.the vault. That skews the table slightly with gymnasts that have
:11:57. > :12:00.been on the vault because they can get such high scores and really it's
:12:01. > :12:06.all or nothing with that apparatus. If it works for you you get a big
:12:07. > :12:10.score. But wait until all of the nations have been on the vault until
:12:11. > :12:19.you get a good idea. Taking on board plenty of water. Dan Purvis, 15.066,
:12:20. > :12:23.well, what a benchmark for Russia. Great Britain are teamed with
:12:24. > :12:32.Russia. They will sit out, while Russia go next. It is not the start
:12:33. > :12:38.that Ukraine wanted. A little bit high, Craig? I think so, yes. I'm
:12:39. > :12:46.going to look at Dan because he is the pommel horse expert, ex-European
:12:47. > :12:50.champion. 15 seems high. Apart from the stutter in the handstand it was
:12:51. > :12:56.a really clean routine, I've seen him scoring 15.6 before. Maybe they
:12:57. > :13:01.took away at ten for a little error. Actually maybe the combination as
:13:02. > :13:07.well, it is dubious but he is a real favourite, you know, within the
:13:08. > :13:10.European circuit. He will be disappointed himself, thinking about
:13:11. > :13:16.putting in a good performance, heading to Rio, no doubt they will
:13:17. > :13:21.be watching to say, he is going to the competition. He will be really
:13:22. > :13:26.disappointed, scoring 15 is a decent score, though. No doubt Max Whitlock
:13:27. > :13:30.will be watching. Shout out to him. Absolutely. Great Britain are
:13:31. > :13:35.leading the four teams that have competed so far. There are eight in
:13:36. > :13:41.all. It is now the turn of Switzerland. They have rotated
:13:42. > :13:52.around with Ukraine. This is Benjamin Gischard. Qualified with
:13:53. > :14:00.13.1. Into the single legwork. Good amplitude on the circles, the hip
:14:01. > :14:07.extension. Quite a fast circle. Works well on one handle. Gaining
:14:08. > :14:17.difficulty. He settles down. Into the traditional Magyar. Linked into
:14:18. > :14:22.the travel. Up into the handstand. Clean into the pirouette. They have
:14:23. > :14:28.taken the opportunity. Ukraine handed it to them. Very much so,
:14:29. > :14:33.there is nothing like a home crowd to lift you, Switzerland have been
:14:34. > :14:36.one of the country is really rising, fifth that the World Championships,
:14:37. > :14:41.automatically through on the first try for an Olympic berth. This is a
:14:42. > :14:51.very stylish performance. As you can see. Lovely swing. Good control.
:14:52. > :14:54.They did qualify as a team with the third highest score on the pommel
:14:55. > :15:10.horse. They are also quite a young team. Big hopes for the future. One
:15:11. > :15:18.down, two to go, for them. It is so important to be consistent. And the
:15:19. > :15:22.team tactics play quite apart here. Choosing a consistent team. You
:15:23. > :15:28.might sometimes forego somebody who's got great flair in order to
:15:29. > :15:31.have a steady team. Eric often in gymnastic competition you have four
:15:32. > :15:36.people and only three have accounts you can take a flyer on someone who
:15:37. > :15:38.is extremely gifted. -- very often. This format means you have to have
:15:39. > :15:51.consistent performers. This will be the real challenge for
:15:52. > :15:58.Team GB. Yes, absolutely. We are just waiting for Belyavskiy's score
:15:59. > :16:05.to comment. The first Russian to comment, scoring 15 point 66. This
:16:06. > :16:12.is the second Russian gymnast, Nicky Clark Nagornyy, 19 years old. He
:16:13. > :16:16.qualified second for the four final. -- Nagornyy. He has some moves.
:16:17. > :16:24.Things are going well so far for Russia. A real fight between Britain
:16:25. > :16:29.and Russia today. And head-to-head, they really are. A big super tumble,
:16:30. > :16:39.bounces out of the land was lots of control. -- the landing with lots
:16:40. > :16:46.of. That was very impressive. 3.5. This is how he builds the
:16:47. > :16:57.difficulty. Double twisting front immediate, double front. These are
:16:58. > :17:10.moves of serious difficulty. Piked double Arabian, a sort of side past.
:17:11. > :17:18.He is very late. Very well rehearsed routine -- side pass. A bit of style
:17:19. > :17:25.included there. Very precise, every round off the same. Two and a half
:17:26. > :17:29.into tuck front half. Must not repeat elements. A little stutter at
:17:30. > :17:33.the finish there, but it doesn't matter because that was an
:17:34. > :17:41.immaculate triple twist to finish. That is why he is in the Flora
:17:42. > :17:48.final! A masterclass of Flower work -- floor final. A masterclass of
:17:49. > :17:55.floor work. Your roses open. To do it as clean as that, that is
:17:56. > :18:06.world-class. -- your mouth is open. There is his team-mate, Christian
:18:07. > :18:10.Baumann, 21 years old. 15.033 in qualification, just making it to the
:18:11. > :18:15.pommel horse final. Straight into the main bulk of the routine, very
:18:16. > :18:23.difficult to wind between the handles, travelling back to the
:18:24. > :18:30.horse. Confident in the Magyar, into the... Lots of form. He is having to
:18:31. > :18:37.fight. Keep going, son. Well saved there. Into the hands Van. Phil
:18:38. > :18:49.pirouette. This is where it really takes it toll -- into the handstand.
:18:50. > :18:52.Fought and showed every inch of being a true competitor because if
:18:53. > :18:58.you actually let yourself fall of you have to start again. This will
:18:59. > :19:03.have ratcheted up a bit, perhaps not as much as a hallmark, but he had to
:19:04. > :19:10.fight and mark up the next couple of elements because of it -- a whole
:19:11. > :19:16.mark. The first in Switzerland have been any medal winning position,
:19:17. > :19:22.with that pressure. Holding up Russia's score, and goodness me.
:19:23. > :19:26.Speaking of powerhouses. He was world champion here back in 2014 and
:19:27. > :19:34.if he can contain the power and keep in this area, you just watch. Well,
:19:35. > :19:39.look at the height. Lots of gymnasts make rate twists, but this guy
:19:40. > :19:47.tumble tyres well. Launches into the air, double straight, with twist. A
:19:48. > :19:56.little hop on the landing. Did he just take out a toe? They have to
:19:57. > :20:01.meet the floor and punch into a double front. Such exciting work. He
:20:02. > :20:15.had a massive difficulty score of seven in qualification. That would
:20:16. > :20:21.mean he was being judged out of 17. That was a step out! You get
:20:22. > :20:31.deducted for the step and for the fit being out of the floor. Nice
:20:32. > :20:36.control on that twisting pass. He is so fast, crams everything in. There
:20:37. > :20:40.is the treble finish! He is quite pleased with that, such bulky
:20:41. > :20:43.routine, so many places to make mistakes. This is where that kind of
:20:44. > :20:47.combination of this difficulty in execution comes into play, because
:20:48. > :20:56.although he is doing very difficult moves comity is giving himself
:20:57. > :20:59.enough manoeuvring on his execution. Yes, a lot higher than a lot of the
:21:00. > :21:05.other competitors today, and he make of gone out of the floor then but he
:21:06. > :21:13.could still get a higher score. 14.14 Christian Baumann. Oliver
:21:14. > :21:16.Hegi, the last gymnast for Switzerland on the pommel horse.
:21:17. > :21:22.This is a very important routine for the whole team. -- home team.
:21:23. > :21:26.Straight into the handstand, not once, but twice. Really nice
:21:27. > :21:39.extension there on the doubling circle. Lots of clearance. Between
:21:40. > :21:43.the body and the handle. That is the Wu travel straight into the Russian
:21:44. > :21:52.handle on the end. Clearly done, legs locked together. The Magyar...
:21:53. > :22:00.One handle. Handstand pirouette... Much better fairness on the pommel
:22:01. > :22:06.horse. -- much better finish. Just listen to that crowd! He is through.
:22:07. > :22:11.Well done. That is a super effort, Chris. Yes, really very impressive,
:22:12. > :22:16.and you can see the enthusiasm for the sport in Switzerland. Good
:22:17. > :22:28.style. I like this overhead camera because you can see the legs really
:22:29. > :22:33.stuck together. The judges will just be looking for a little deductions
:22:34. > :22:39.if the hands are not exactly evenly placed, if they are not square. But
:22:40. > :22:49.he made the dismount shark and good. What a finish to their first piece
:22:50. > :22:59.-- sharp. Relief. On to the rings, for Switzerland. Denis Abliazin
:23:00. > :23:02.scorers a 15.2, even with those deductions. That has sealed him and
:23:03. > :23:11.sailed Russia ahead of Great Britain, at the moment. -- sailed.
:23:12. > :23:17.Now a chance to see Vera Mora on the vault. A lovely high, that was a
:23:18. > :23:33.textbook two and a half twist from the entry, 15.066. He scores 15
:23:34. > :23:38.point 26 X. -- 15 .266. They are ranked six at the moment, head of
:23:39. > :23:41.Ukraine in seven. The Spanish are in eighth place at the moment but I am
:23:42. > :23:47.sure that we will get confirmation. There is the top format. Russia are
:23:48. > :23:57.a 0.7 ahead of Great Britain, France and third, and Germany, Italy and
:23:58. > :24:06.Switzerland there, Ukraine way down the field at present and Spain, they
:24:07. > :24:11.are in eighth. Henri go, then. -- there we go. Russia and Great
:24:12. > :24:18.Britain onto their final piece on the pommel is. -- pommel horse. It
:24:19. > :24:25.has to see some of our favourite momentss from there. -- now a chance
:24:26. > :24:35.to deceive. Really, a solid start, Dan. Speaking about Great Britain,
:24:36. > :24:44.working the floor, the pommel rings, that seems to sit us, as a country.
:24:45. > :24:47.Yes, any false count towards your score and that is something you want
:24:48. > :24:53.to avoid. The boys were working hard on that in training. Rate, it will
:24:54. > :24:57.be a big ask to try to beat Russia. They did not have the best team
:24:58. > :25:05.competition in qualification. They counted quite a few false -- rate,
:25:06. > :25:11.it will be. It is quite hard. Yes, if it was down to enthusiasm, we
:25:12. > :25:18.would win. I think we also have to be relieved realistic. At the fact
:25:19. > :25:24.that, you know, Russia took the win in qualification and then obviously
:25:25. > :25:27.Russia had quite a view false. We do not have Max Whitlock, but I think
:25:28. > :25:30.what we have to think about with these European Championships, how do
:25:31. > :25:36.the guys jell with this format as a team? Let's think about, we have
:25:37. > :25:39.seven apparatus tomorrow for the guys and it gives the country
:25:40. > :25:46.something to think about, you know, for the Olympics. Philipp Herder...
:25:47. > :25:50.I was going to see traditionally this is a very strong piece for the
:25:51. > :26:00.Germans, but actually that was just a double twisting Yurchenko, and I
:26:01. > :26:06.think they may still be doing warm up. The board is up, the score, so
:26:07. > :26:10.the double twist off, you can see he landed to the side of the white
:26:11. > :26:19.line, a bit of a deduction. If you are outside of both lines, it is a
:26:20. > :26:24.bigger deduction still. Just the one vault each in this team final. In
:26:25. > :26:27.the individual apparatus finals you have the chance for two vaults but
:26:28. > :26:34.this really is all or nothing, over in the blink of an eye. Yes, it is
:26:35. > :26:41.the test of the true dynamic explosive power. Obviously I am
:26:42. > :26:43.sitting beside a lot of gymnastic knowledge here today and if you
:26:44. > :26:50.would like to get in touch to ask anything, if you would like us to
:26:51. > :27:00.mull anything over, you can get in touch with the details on the screen
:27:01. > :27:04.there. Or contact the Facebook page. Loads of ways, so no excuse really!
:27:05. > :27:09.No, and we will answer any questions! Will answer by post.
:27:10. > :27:20.LAUGHTER We will try! Now, Sebastian Krimmer.
:27:21. > :27:25.Building power, a good round off, double twist, again off to the side.
:27:26. > :27:31.Not as explosive as we had been used to seeing from the German team. We
:27:32. > :27:36.spoke in the past, Chris, about deduction for lack of height for
:27:37. > :27:43.this one. Yes, well, really as you hit the top you didn't accelerate
:27:44. > :27:50.very much of the top at all, did you, Craig? No, and it was muster
:27:51. > :27:54.stroll down to the vault. If they do that really quick and transition of
:27:55. > :28:02.the top of the horse, and he did look a little bit salted -- it was
:28:03. > :28:06.almost a stroll. It is not simple, but the double twist, in this level
:28:07. > :28:09.of competition, we need a 2.5 or triple twist to really push up the
:28:10. > :28:14.score is now on this piece of apparatus. There was certainly a
:28:15. > :28:20.time, and you will know, that the German team were hard to beat, Dan?
:28:21. > :28:23.Yes, medallists as I was growing up, then a few gymnasts finished and it
:28:24. > :28:31.is the young guys coming through. They are not very experienced but
:28:32. > :28:38.they will be in a couple of yours time -- couple of yearss' time. Now
:28:39. > :28:50.it is Nile Wilson, second up. Come on, Nile Wilson Straight into the
:28:51. > :28:57.handstand, double leg circle. Onto the one handle, onto the end. Trying
:28:58. > :29:01.to keep the momentum and speed going with the leg circle on the one
:29:02. > :29:14.handle. Winding down and... He has to keep pushing. There is the
:29:15. > :29:23.Magyar. He needs to extend the hips. Under the handle, enter the
:29:24. > :29:28.handstand, pirouette. He is the! -- he is through. We have the European
:29:29. > :29:35.champion, Louis Smith, still to come, but impressive form, Chris?
:29:36. > :29:41.Very impressive, and Dan Purvis scored a 14.5, 2.3 partners
:29:42. > :29:44.qualification, and this from Nile, a classy gymnast, European junior
:29:45. > :29:51.champion two years ago of course. One more vault to go. The German
:29:52. > :29:58.team were in force after the last rotation. Oleg Verniaiev, Ukraine.
:29:59. > :30:02.They are down in seventh, so have it all to do here on rings. Another
:30:03. > :30:12.current all-round European champion. Strong on this piece of apparatus.
:30:13. > :30:20.Circles round into the Maltese. Shoulders level and flat. Into the
:30:21. > :30:29.crucifix. Good piece of apparatus for Oleg Verniaiev. 15.2 in
:30:30. > :30:39.qualification. That is the JAMA wacky. Into the crucifix. He has to
:30:40. > :30:46.control the rings. -- Yamawaki. Into the plunge. Circle into the
:30:47. > :30:55.handstand. Nice shape. Forward long swing. He has to hold on.
:30:56. > :31:01.Double-twisting double back. Liberals that on Monday. Yes, but
:31:02. > :31:09.that was a vital routine. -- a little step on landing. He needs to
:31:10. > :31:13.do everything he can hear. It is not turning out to be Ukraine's day.
:31:14. > :31:17.They are one of the few teams that have been to the test event and they
:31:18. > :31:21.did well and qualified through the test event in Rio, the top eight
:31:22. > :31:25.teams qualified at the World Championships in November. Then the
:31:26. > :31:29.next eight had to fight it out for four places and they were one of the
:31:30. > :31:34.teams that got one of those four places but it means they really had
:31:35. > :31:38.a very heavy programme in this half of the and they have gone to Rio and
:31:39. > :31:42.fought at the test event and some teams who have done that have chosen
:31:43. > :31:49.not to come here, the Dutch team have not come as a team, and they
:31:50. > :31:52.perhaps look a bit jaded. Yes, it is that point about peaking at the
:31:53. > :31:59.right time, three months to go until Rio, do you need to peak now so it
:32:00. > :32:04.is an upward trajectory? They will also have trials in their country
:32:05. > :32:08.and I have been watching Oleg Verniaiev on social media and he is
:32:09. > :32:19.competing in Grands Prix. 15.2, that's a great score. He is the true
:32:20. > :32:30.competitor, really. 14.1 for Nile Wilson. Come on, Louis Smith, he
:32:31. > :32:37.says. We all echo you, Nile. Louis here, just for the pommel horse.
:32:38. > :32:43.Current European champion. This will be a masterclass on the pommel
:32:44. > :32:49.horse. Lovely into the handstand, great control. He joins the legs
:32:50. > :32:53.together, right down. Picks it up into the double leg circle. Look at
:32:54. > :32:58.the extension, this is where Lewis has improved with his technique and
:32:59. > :33:05.his circle. Nice work on one handle, full spindle on the end. Into the
:33:06. > :33:19.Russian. His feet are glued together. Great alignment on the
:33:20. > :33:30.Magyar. And the Sivado with the hands. But into the handstand with
:33:31. > :33:35.no hesitation. Pirouette. Great stuff from Lewis. Great Britain back
:33:36. > :33:41.in contention. Huge pressure, every time he comes out and he delivers
:33:42. > :33:45.when he needs to. Yes, he does, that was an awesome routine. Probably
:33:46. > :33:50.even better than his qualification routine so he will be scoring high
:33:51. > :33:54.15s at least. What a routine under pressure, that is why he is so
:33:55. > :34:04.successful. He loves the pressure. He thrives off it. Actually, to be a
:34:05. > :34:08.true competitor, lots of competitors are introverted but Louis is a
:34:09. > :34:12.performer, a real extrovert who loves the crowd and he loves to play
:34:13. > :34:16.to it. And he just makes it look so easy, never any doubt in his mind,
:34:17. > :34:25.or in the mind of the person watching the routine either.
:34:26. > :34:34.He has been a great rings work in the past. He is a very good gymnast
:34:35. > :34:55.on this piece. Look at his strength, cert -- circling into the top
:34:56. > :34:58.planche. Flat into the Maltese. Kip into the Maltese. Lays out into the
:34:59. > :35:03.handstand. Into the inverted crucifix. That is a bit high for my
:35:04. > :35:06.liking. Nice in the swing elements and back into the Maltese. Another
:35:07. > :35:26.circle to crucifix. Back up into the top planche. Circle
:35:27. > :35:30.into the handstand, must lock out. He flicks his arms and he is winding
:35:31. > :35:34.up for the dismount. Double-twisting double back with a slight adjustment
:35:35. > :35:38.on landing. That is a much better routine for Ukraine. Doing
:35:39. > :35:43.everything they can to get back into the top three. They were in seventh
:35:44. > :35:50.after the last piece but a much happier outing on rings than pommel
:35:51. > :35:54.horse. They have got a couple of quite specialists on this apparatus.
:35:55. > :35:58.As we were saying earlier, Ukraine have got one or two gymnasts who are
:35:59. > :36:03.really good on each piece but they don't have six or seven. This sort
:36:04. > :36:12.of final format as Dan was saying earlier, really suits them. That's a
:36:13. > :36:20.lovely picture. Fabulous crucifix. Very powerful gymnast. That's the
:36:21. > :36:25.first three teams. Lewis Smith gets 15.9 66. What a team score for Great
:36:26. > :36:31.Britain on pommel horse. Beat that if you can, Russia. CHUCKLES
:36:32. > :36:37.The fans like it as well! That's always good. The pressure is on now,
:36:38. > :36:41.even though it was a great start, the powerful floor for Russia, that
:36:42. > :36:49.will make them sweat a bit, I'm sure. Dan, you train a lot with
:36:50. > :36:52.Louis, to me he looks like his technique has improved on the pommel
:36:53. > :36:56.horse. He is not as skewed as he used to be and he has better
:36:57. > :37:01.extension in my mind on the double circle. Is that something he has
:37:02. > :37:06.been consciously working on? Definitely. The fitter you get the
:37:07. > :37:13.more you can extend on the pommel horse and obviously he has his eyes
:37:14. > :37:16.on Rio. He will want to pick but every ten in preparation for the Rio
:37:17. > :37:22.Met. Is he more settled when choosing how difficult to go? Back
:37:23. > :37:26.in the day he used to choose until he was on the apparatus and see how
:37:27. > :37:33.he felt. He still has the bigger routine under his belt. He still
:37:34. > :37:37.scored 15.9 and that is an unbelievable score. For his easy
:37:38. > :37:42.routine as well. That is all you can ask for. Well, Great Britain lead
:37:43. > :37:46.the way at the moment, don't worry too much about this because Russia
:37:47. > :37:50.have not been on pommel horse yet. It is confusing when they put up the
:37:51. > :37:55.graphics halfway round the competition. Just four teams have
:37:56. > :38:00.competed. Russia, as we say, have joined Great Britain on pommel horse
:38:01. > :38:01.and Switzerland on rings and France on the vault. Spain are on the
:38:02. > :38:17.parallel bars. He was third on the floor earlier
:38:18. > :38:24.on. Can Russia compete with Great Britain? Straight into the work, the
:38:25. > :38:36.handstand. Lovely tempo on the double leg circle. On one handle.
:38:37. > :38:43.Circle into handstand and back down into single legwork. Back to one
:38:44. > :38:49.handle. Travel down the horse and into the Magyar. A little bit of a
:38:50. > :38:55.fight, they are. You've got to keep the momentum going. Up into the
:38:56. > :39:00.handstand. Pirouette. Very efficient routine, there for Russia. He was
:39:01. > :39:07.adamant he was getting through that. Very businesslike. He came to grief
:39:08. > :39:10.in qualification. 12.86 only so he wanted to put that behind him and
:39:11. > :39:16.that was a very businesslike performance. He powered his way
:39:17. > :39:21.through. He is a super gymnast at 19 years old. Yes, because the floor
:39:22. > :39:26.routine was one of the best we have seen for a long time. And full of
:39:27. > :39:30.great variety. I know we have gymnasts who do fabulous amounts of
:39:31. > :39:33.twists but he showed true variety on the floor exercise and a great deal
:39:34. > :39:42.of ability and strength on the pommel horse as well. We've seen him
:39:43. > :39:46.just in recent years not looking too happy, looking just a bit stuffy and
:39:47. > :39:49.what have you, but here we are, there seems to be a completely
:39:50. > :39:54.different atmosphere in the Russian team. Yes, they look like they have
:39:55. > :39:58.done a lot of training at home and have come out fighting, they feel
:39:59. > :40:10.it's time to grasp power in Europe again, I think. Oh, he did well to
:40:11. > :40:19.save that. Double front, very difficult. A big step to the side,
:40:20. > :40:27.14.2 33. Working every piece today, Julien Gobaux. The Swiss in sixth
:40:28. > :40:35.place at the moment. After that first piece. There are two teams on
:40:36. > :40:40.each apparatus, one team works first and then the second team warms up
:40:41. > :40:48.and has a go. We are now in the second half of the second piece of
:40:49. > :40:58.apparatus. 14.4 33. This is his compatriot.
:40:59. > :41:07.He's had a toe injury. It will be interesting to see how he lands
:41:08. > :41:11.this. Straight into the top planche. A bit high that in the Maltese.
:41:12. > :41:20.Gymnasts must be dead flat with their shoulders on the rings.
:41:21. > :41:25.Thereupon, a slight murmur. -- there again. Layout. Now we are into the
:41:26. > :41:32.swing elements. Nice in the double pike, nice in the double tuck and
:41:33. > :41:41.straight into the top planche. He must fix the handstand. A few more
:41:42. > :41:46.little wobbles and they will add up. He will wind up into the dismount.
:41:47. > :41:49.Double-twisting, double back. A little hop on the landing.
:41:50. > :41:56.Switzerland going well. Powerful routines from relatively young
:41:57. > :42:03.gymnasts. That impressed me, they are really very strong. They are
:42:04. > :42:07.looking good? Yes, they are obviously in front of the home crowd
:42:08. > :42:13.and I know that you can be really lifted by the home crowd. They are
:42:14. > :42:28.going for it today. 14.6 there for Nikita Miller corny. -- there, for
:42:29. > :42:32.Nikita Miller corny -- Nagornyy. Consistency is key. There is
:42:33. > :42:36.pressure on this routine. He has a very unusual move there. Out on one
:42:37. > :42:42.hand, taking all of the support. That is the Russian on the one
:42:43. > :42:51.handle, into the end. Lovely turning travel. Full spindle. Keeps the
:42:52. > :42:57.momentum going. That builds the difficulty. Travelling again. Look
:42:58. > :43:07.at the extension over the pommel horse. Magyar, Sivado. Into the
:43:08. > :43:14.handstand, into the dismount, superb performance. Great to see because he
:43:15. > :43:20.so often falters when there is pressure. That was very good. There
:43:21. > :43:24.is a really good team energy about this Russian performance. Yes, and
:43:25. > :43:27.it's not often you see them like this either. They look as though
:43:28. > :43:34.they are up for it today, they will take the fight to GB. 0.7 between
:43:35. > :43:44.them in qualification. Great Britain and Russia. Russia are keen to
:43:45. > :43:50.really widen the gap today. There will be one more Switzerland gymnast
:43:51. > :43:58.left. Benjamin Gischard, another young gymnast, in fact, the youngest
:43:59. > :44:05.of the three, just 20 years old. A very difficult piece of apparatus,
:44:06. > :44:22.without the majority strength. -- without the mature and strength.
:44:23. > :44:26.Kip, into the Maltese again. A slight pause. Into the top planche
:44:27. > :44:36.is the that's better. Circling into the handstand. He's got to watch his
:44:37. > :44:43.back. That's better. Nice in the double pike, connected to the double
:44:44. > :44:48.tuck. Back into the top planche. He winds up into the dismount,
:44:49. > :44:51.double-twisting double back. Large step on landing but a good routine,
:44:52. > :44:58.the Swiss are really piling on the pressure. I tell you what, he really
:44:59. > :45:03.had a go there, Benjamin Gischard. Goodlad. I reckon they are a hot tip
:45:04. > :45:06.for the bronze medal here, Switzerland, especially with the
:45:07. > :45:11.home crowd advantage behind them. It would be a dream come true for them.
:45:12. > :45:15.Actually looking at qualification, the rings and pommel horse were
:45:16. > :45:20.their worst scoring apparatus, so even though they know what they have
:45:21. > :45:24.on the board, they have good pieces to come. They finished top on
:45:25. > :45:33.parallel bars, second on the high bar, so they will get big scores.
:45:34. > :45:54.It issuing 15.43-day -- it is showing 15 -- 15.433. Now it is to
:45:55. > :46:02.think of. He can work the pommel horse, that is for sure. --
:46:03. > :46:08.Kuksenkov. Building the difficulty on the one handle. Enter the
:46:09. > :46:14.handstand, lovely. Back down. Such a difficult move. -- into the
:46:15. > :46:25.handstand. Nice travel. As well, you do not see that much these days. You
:46:26. > :46:31.looks really good. Good extension of the Zivado there. Full pirouette.
:46:32. > :46:35.Russia are on side today. They have certainly answered the challenge.
:46:36. > :46:38.Great Britain won the pommel horse in qualification and Russia look
:46:39. > :46:44.like they have no intention of giving in. You can see the relief on
:46:45. > :46:49.his face as he comes off there are, and nice little smile on his face,
:46:50. > :46:54.as if to say, lads, we knew we could do it. I almost feel there is a
:46:55. > :46:58.sense of relief from the Russian team. It is most likely have a real
:46:59. > :47:06.opportunity, and let's not wasted. Certainly been very businesslike.
:47:07. > :47:19.14.54 Gischard. Off to their next piece of apparatus, the vaults, I
:47:20. > :47:26.think. -- 40.5 for. This will be difficult, and it is. Look at that.
:47:27. > :47:34.15.4, fabulous. The biggest vault scorer we have seen so far. Onto the
:47:35. > :47:38.third rejection then. When all of those scores are added in and
:47:39. > :47:47.portal. We can give you confirmation of where things are sitting at the
:47:48. > :47:50.moment. -- added in and totalled up. We are waiting for that one more
:47:51. > :48:15.scorer to come and, Kuksenkov. A love that move. It must be quite
:48:16. > :48:19.tricky, that. Yes, I have tried it, and I can't do it!
:48:20. > :48:25.LAUGHTER Is just rotation around the
:48:26. > :48:28.shoulder, keeping balance? Yes, obviously you are on one arm and
:48:29. > :48:32.that is so hard to do in training, let alone under the pressure of
:48:33. > :48:38.competition, so I really do respect that move. Well, the third rejection
:48:39. > :48:43.sees Great Britain on rings. You can see them warming up there. Over
:48:44. > :48:46.there with Russia, they will have Ukraine and Switzerland, Germany and
:48:47. > :48:52.France on parallel bars, and Italy and Spain will be over on the high
:48:53. > :48:58.bar -- the third rotation. Look out for that. There are the standings.
:48:59. > :49:02.After two pieces of apparatus Russia are well ahead of Great Britain,
:49:03. > :49:06.France in third and Ukraine have moved up to fourth, and Switzerland
:49:07. > :49:15.go up one place into fifth. Germany and sixth, Italy seventh and Spain
:49:16. > :49:22.are still down in eighth. There is Courtney Tulloch, gracing the Great
:49:23. > :49:29.Britain team due to Max Whitlock's absence. That is just confirmation
:49:30. > :49:50.of where the teams are going. So Great Britain to rings. Looking
:49:51. > :49:55.ahead to the Olympics, we have a question coming in. Is the European
:49:56. > :50:03.teams champions format counting a replica of the Olympics? And, yes,
:50:04. > :50:06.it is, and that is why it is so nail-biting. Yes, and it is great
:50:07. > :50:11.practice for the Olympics under this kind of pressure as well. Dan Purvis
:50:12. > :50:18.starts Great Britain's third piece of apparatus here. Strong start.
:50:19. > :50:35.Circling round to Maltese, into the crucifix, and again. Great control.
:50:36. > :50:39.Watch this swinging elements no, double pike, double tuck, up into
:50:40. > :50:48.the top planche -- elements now. Great control. Super shape in the
:50:49. > :50:55.handstand, long swing, very solid. Can he hang on? Winds up, double
:50:56. > :51:01.twisting, double pike. Great job. First man. He is through his round.
:51:02. > :51:04.He is so dependable, Dan Purvis, and really that has been one of the
:51:05. > :51:07.characteristics we have always spoken about. He does not seem to
:51:08. > :51:12.succumb to the pressure, he always used to get up there and do his job,
:51:13. > :51:16.Chris? Yes, and he will tell you he is quite nervous but he does not
:51:17. > :51:21.appear it at all. He seems most unflappable, and he rises, actually.
:51:22. > :51:25.I trained in the same gem as Dan and I actually think he rises in
:51:26. > :51:32.competition, rather than falling away, which some gymnasts do -- same
:51:33. > :51:35.gym. Dan, how did you feel competing with them? He was one person you
:51:36. > :51:41.could rely on. You always knew he would jump up and do a good routine.
:51:42. > :51:43.You didn't even need to watch it. That your guards on for the next
:51:44. > :51:53.piece, yes. LAUGHTER
:51:54. > :52:02.At the end of the vault runway, lots of gymnasts bringing their own talk
:52:03. > :52:06.with them from their own gyms. The chances are he will grab those legs
:52:07. > :52:13.and pull them round, very talked it! Ukraine often give us some fantastic
:52:14. > :52:19.vaults, very exciting vaults. You will see the tariff on the side, if
:52:20. > :52:31.the camera pans round. He is following a 13.966, from his
:52:32. > :52:37.team-mate. Six, real power, drives high off the top. Double time, kick
:52:38. > :52:42.out at the top. That is the way you do it. Meet that floor. That was
:52:43. > :52:48.beautiful, wasn't it? That was one of the most graceful and have ever
:52:49. > :52:53.seen. This gymnast does everything beautifully. He is a great
:52:54. > :52:57.technician. Meet the floor. Look how he uses the spring out of the
:52:58. > :53:00.platform. The platform is sprung. If you had it correctly, and you can
:53:01. > :53:10.really see how it projected him up into the air, making full use of the
:53:11. > :53:16.airtime. 14.63, a great score their four Dan Purvis, the first gymnast
:53:17. > :53:21.up. Great Britain will be halfway round after this piece of apparatus
:53:22. > :53:26.-- there for Dan Purvis. They are still hanging on to the coat-tails
:53:27. > :53:32.of Russia. As we have said, it is or nothing. Russia are looking
:53:33. > :53:40.powerful, looking strong. -- all or nothing. They are looking steady
:53:41. > :53:47.today. The perfect recipe. 15.44 Oleg Verniaiev. Out of 16. Where did
:53:48. > :53:57.they take off as you point sex, that's what I want to know! -- take
:53:58. > :54:05.off via 0.6. He can do that better than me. He did not make the vault
:54:06. > :54:14.final. But hoping to put everything right here. Igor Radivilov. Another
:54:15. > :54:22.super difficult vault coming up. Double front with have turnout.
:54:23. > :54:26.Kicked it out so other top. One of the deductions for vault landings is
:54:27. > :54:30.if you land with the chest out and there was no suspicion of that, he
:54:31. > :54:37.was bowled operate. Fabulous. It will be interesting to see how this
:54:38. > :54:44.school compares to the 15.4 from Oleg Verniaiev. 15.3, directing! Not
:54:45. > :54:51.quite as good, obviously, with the landing, but his shoulders were down
:54:52. > :54:54.a little bit -- 15.3, I reckon. If you have two bolts like that in your
:54:55. > :55:01.armoury you will score big on that apparatus. -- two vaults. Can you
:55:02. > :55:09.put into context how difficult that is, Dan? Marked out of the sex, it
:55:10. > :55:13.is one of the hardest. There are only a few people who do it in the
:55:14. > :55:24.world -- out of the six. It is a really hard move. If you can do when
:55:25. > :55:27.you will score big. Queue is Courtney Tulloch for Great Britain,
:55:28. > :55:33.the most junior champion on rings. He has made the rings final as well.
:55:34. > :55:41.Wilson scored 15 one, just before Courtney, and look at the power as
:55:42. > :55:45.he presses into that move. A demonstration of shear strength.
:55:46. > :55:49.Look at that. That is the Tulloch. That is his own move. Not many
:55:50. > :55:54.gymnasts have a move named after them. Very flat there in the
:55:55. > :55:59.Maltese, but gymnasts must combine the strengths and the swinging
:56:00. > :56:06.elements. Back up rise into the top planche. Different class. Flat in
:56:07. > :56:17.the crucifix. Slight lift of the head to save, this is easy. -- to
:56:18. > :56:21.say. Waiting for the right swing. Layout, double piked, straight into
:56:22. > :56:28.the Maltese, without a whisker of movement. Locked out Sol and it --
:56:29. > :56:35.solid in the handstand. Must hold onto the dismayed. Full twisting,
:56:36. > :56:42.double straight! Tulloch proving how much he deserves his place here on
:56:43. > :56:46.the British team! -- hold on to the dismount. That was absolutely
:56:47. > :56:50.fabulous, by a long way one of the best rings routines I have seen from
:56:51. > :56:56.a British guy for a long time. He really brought a bit of virtuosity
:56:57. > :57:02.to that, didn't he? Dan, thoughts on that? Really really good. That is
:57:03. > :57:06.going to be a big score. All of his possessions WordPerfect and held for
:57:07. > :57:09.the right amount of time and he stuck the dismount, one of the most
:57:10. > :57:18.difficult things to do with the rings as well, and the most
:57:19. > :57:21.important. -- possessions were perfect. Current Olympic silver
:57:22. > :57:29.medallist, the European champion back in 2011 and 12. Let's see how
:57:30. > :57:39.he works these bars. A great line. Uprising into the double pike, very
:57:40. > :57:48.difficult skill. Somersault, lovely straight arms. 21 bar, had to fight
:57:49. > :57:52.a little bit there. -- to one buyer. He had to rectify that, saved well
:57:53. > :58:03.into the long swing double pike. Huge difficulty. Settling now into
:58:04. > :58:10.the turn. Full twisting double pike, super difficult dismount. Not quite
:58:11. > :58:14.as crisp as we have seen him sometimes, but I love that this
:58:15. > :58:21.mode, he just whips the twist and so fast. -- love that dismount. Just a
:58:22. > :58:29.bit of this fight on his hands, with the bent arms. Such a light framed
:58:30. > :58:36.gymnast. He claims his work so well, very difficult to work on the one
:58:37. > :58:46.handle. -- he times his work so well. 15.766, a huge score for
:58:47. > :58:55.Courtney Tulloch. Well, things are going very well indeed for Great
:58:56. > :58:59.Britain. That 15.766 is the highest score of the competition posted on
:59:00. > :59:03.rings, but that was exceptional. Without a doubt the best routine he
:59:04. > :59:09.has done under that pressure. Just what Team GB needed. Well done young
:59:10. > :59:15.Courtney. Russia will be watching very closely. They have got a bit of
:59:16. > :59:21.leeway, after a very powerful for performance. A good steady pommel
:59:22. > :59:28.horse. -- floor performance. And rings is a key piece for them.
:59:29. > :59:32.Vault. Rings for Russia, they qualified in top position. They were
:59:33. > :59:38.the first on rings, first and vault, so they have got a good couple of
:59:39. > :59:46.strong pieces. But I think there is a real competition hotting up for
:59:47. > :59:51.the bronze, with Switzerland. 15.1, Germany with a good shout there as
:59:52. > :59:57.far as parallel bars are concerned. He did well to keep his composure
:59:58. > :00:02.really and carry on through the routine, Nguyen. Great Britain are
:00:03. > :00:08.ahead of Ukraine, Germany and then Italy. Just a reminder, this is just
:00:09. > :00:13.half of the teams that have completed their third piece of that
:00:14. > :00:22.threat is, the third of six. -- third piece of apparatus. The vault,
:00:23. > :00:50.teamed with Ukraine. The gymnast just talking his feet. -- chalking.
:00:51. > :00:56.So Pablo Braegger wants to keep the consistency for Switzerland. It will
:00:57. > :01:00.be over very quickly. Hope it goes your way.
:01:01. > :01:08.Really harnessing the power. Big push. That will not be what they
:01:09. > :01:13.wanted to start with, added off-line, that's an automatic one
:01:14. > :01:19.marked reduction. -- at it off-line. And then all of the other deductions
:01:20. > :01:24.that come from lack of height and direction. That will be costly for
:01:25. > :01:32.Switzerland. He could have done with a bit more height, opened out to the
:01:33. > :01:36.floor a bit too soon. Off the top, slightly to one side and then it
:01:37. > :01:40.went over across the line as well, so the deduction for being out of
:01:41. > :01:44.the landing zone as well. Not a good day at the office for the first
:01:45. > :01:49.vaulter. This format is that you have five in the team and you work
:01:50. > :01:53.three on each piece so some of the gymnasts on the third coming in
:01:54. > :01:59.cold, so that in itself is quite a skilled, to do a piece and not the
:02:00. > :02:05.next and whatever, for some of the younger gymnasts it takes a bit of
:02:06. > :02:08.getting used to. A question from Chloe on social media, what is a
:02:09. > :02:14.realistic medal tally for Rio for the team? Bearing in mind the
:02:15. > :02:21.gymnasts will be watching this afterwards! Pablo Braegger scores
:02:22. > :02:25.13.3. I will throw my hat in and say we will get a team medal in the
:02:26. > :02:33.men's. Did she want to know the colour? I think the tally means how
:02:34. > :02:42.many can we get? Individual? We will have an Olympic champion. Dan is
:02:43. > :02:48.nodding. The gymnasts could come through with quite a few. Do get in
:02:49. > :02:57.contact. If you do have any questions. This is a big vault.
:02:58. > :03:02.Double Tsukahara. He controls it well, the big step back will deduct
:03:03. > :03:06.marks, but when you have seen your team-mate not performing well and
:03:07. > :03:11.you have a risky vault, it is always tough, but he performed well. With
:03:12. > :03:15.so much fire in your belly it is difficult to master because you
:03:16. > :03:21.either overcooked it or under rotate. It is so difficult to deal
:03:22. > :03:25.with. I also think that, he watches his team-mate under rotate, and he
:03:26. > :03:31.thinks, I need to G myself up, and he did well to save that. Anybody
:03:32. > :03:42.else might have rolled over. He did really well to save that.
:03:43. > :03:49.Nikita Ignatyev. A very strong gymnast. He was in the world final
:03:50. > :03:53.couple of years ago. He entered qualifying with the highest score
:03:54. > :03:58.for Russia on rings. Looking to extend their lead here. Great start,
:03:59. > :04:03.circle to Maltese and then back to the Maltese. Into the crucifix.
:04:04. > :04:12.Gymnasts are only allowed to link three strength elements at any one
:04:13. > :04:17.time. Beautiful line into the swinging elements, double pike,
:04:18. > :04:26.double tuck, flat. That is great work. A slight pause. Back into the
:04:27. > :04:33.top planche. You can see the strain on his face, he is working so hard.
:04:34. > :04:38.Can he wind-up? Lovely full twisting double layout. A little shuffle on
:04:39. > :04:45.the dismount. Great start. Beautiful form throughout, I thought. That
:04:46. > :04:52.routine follows a 15.25 from Nikita Nagornyy.
:04:53. > :05:03.I suppose they are a bit down from where they would want on the vault.
:05:04. > :05:11.A chance to see the high bar. Spanish gymnast. Adria Vera Mora. I
:05:12. > :05:19.think that's how you pronounce it. If his mum is watching. Spain is one
:05:20. > :05:28.of the countries who suffered over the past 4-8 years. Men's gymnastics
:05:29. > :05:35.was a discipline where they were a big force in the past. Always very
:05:36. > :05:41.good on the high bar. That was beautiful, had to bend his arms a
:05:42. > :05:46.bit. Same thing on the fold West, very secure, even better. Here we go
:05:47. > :05:50.again, just tucked. You can see when he changes shape that he's going to
:05:51. > :05:56.perform another one of the difficult skills. This time the Tkachev. Full
:05:57. > :06:03.of difficulty and excitement. As to pirouette as well. There you go. The
:06:04. > :06:07.full turn. Close bar elements. Where the body comes enclosed to the bar.
:06:08. > :06:12.These are long swinging elements. All he needs now is a good secure
:06:13. > :06:17.landing. Full twisting double straight, he gets it. That was
:06:18. > :06:21.superb. It's interesting to watch that, not only the crowd getting
:06:22. > :06:27.into it but the gymnasts as well, everybody was watching it. Very
:06:28. > :06:33.spectacular piece of apparatus, the high bar. It's nice to see the
:06:34. > :06:41.Tkachev. Otherwise the routine can be slightly one-sided, using the
:06:42. > :06:47.Kovac. When you compare that to Courtney Tulloch's, though, I tell
:06:48. > :06:55.you, Great Britain are closing the gap. However comes the current
:06:56. > :07:02.European champion. CHUCKLES Denis Abliazin. As strong as you
:07:03. > :07:13.like. Third qualifier in the rings final. Flat in the Maltese. That is
:07:14. > :07:18.so difficult. Back planche and then pressed back into the Maltese.
:07:19. > :07:26.Shoulders level with the rings. It's so difficult to deduct. Layout.
:07:27. > :07:30.Double tuck, double pike, a bit ragged there. And dropping the feat
:07:31. > :07:42.in the top planche. That will be deducted. Circle to crucifix,
:07:43. > :07:47.better. Kip to crucifix again. Week in the swinging elements, for me.
:07:48. > :07:56.And will be deducted. Strong in the handstand. He's got to nail the
:07:57. > :08:02.dismount. Lock those arms. Kicks in, double-twisting, double straight.
:08:03. > :08:07.The key with rings is the transitions. He looked clunky. It
:08:08. > :08:11.looked a bit... This is where ring work has changed in recent years,
:08:12. > :08:15.it's not just about being good at swinging or strength, you have to
:08:16. > :08:19.combine the two, and you can't doubt how strong he is there, but the
:08:20. > :08:23.swinging elements were poor and that's what the judges will
:08:24. > :08:26.absolutely hammer. Jerky in the somersaults. However that dismount
:08:27. > :08:41.is massive, double straight with double twist. Just chalking up the
:08:42. > :08:45.bars ready to go, Cyril Tommasone. He has had shoulder problems this
:08:46. > :08:51.year. He may struggle with this. A bit short on the somersault but a
:08:52. > :08:59.lot cleaner there. There is the drop chute. Lovely somersault from the
:09:00. > :09:09.upper arm, into the Healey turn. Reverse pirouette.
:09:10. > :09:23.Stutz, Stutz 21 bar. -- to one bar. Double pike. Slight adjustment on
:09:24. > :09:27.landing. That was a solid routine. He has such a light frame but long
:09:28. > :09:32.labours as well which works so well in the parallel bars. I know it is
:09:33. > :09:36.one of your favourite pieces and one of mine as well. Yes, with the long
:09:37. > :09:41.levers it makes you look a lot nicer when you're swinging. Obviously when
:09:42. > :09:44.watching the routine you can see that his line is so nice and it can
:09:45. > :09:50.sometimes make the judges give you a nicer score when it looks so nice.
:09:51. > :09:55.The key to building a good score on parallel bars for you? A good mix of
:09:56. > :09:58.everything, above the bar and below. Joining them both together and
:09:59. > :10:09.obviously being clean and tidy with no hand movement. 15.2 for Dennis Ed
:10:10. > :10:16.Leigh is an -- Denis Abliazin. Certainly ahead of Great Britain.
:10:17. > :10:22.Great Britain closing the gap slightly. Ukraine will move up into
:10:23. > :10:25.third. France around fourth but we will get confirmation very soon. I
:10:26. > :10:34.tell you what, that performance from Courtney Tulloch bodes well for the
:10:35. > :10:39.rings final. Absolutely. And his bid for a place in Rio may be preserved.
:10:40. > :10:43.There's a lot of ground to talk about that as well because the
:10:44. > :10:46.juniors, there was a super performance and we will bring you up
:10:47. > :10:53.on the juniors later in the programme. Certainly stay tuned for
:10:54. > :10:58.that. Benjamin Gischard scored 15.2. That was a beautiful vault, really
:10:59. > :11:13.good. He didn't half need that after the previous two gymnasts. Really
:11:14. > :11:18.excellent. These are some highlights of what is now halfway round the
:11:19. > :11:21.competition. And after this I think it will be a good time to have a
:11:22. > :11:26.chat with Beth Tweddle and get her thoughts really on the first half
:11:27. > :11:31.will stop you in the studio and can you hear us? Yes, I can hear you
:11:32. > :11:35.well. We were just talking about Courtney Tulloch and watching some
:11:36. > :11:40.pictures here. How impressive was that and how important was it for
:11:41. > :11:43.Courtney? It's really important for Courtney and the team, one thing I
:11:44. > :11:48.have noticed through the team final is how Russia and Great Britain have
:11:49. > :11:52.both upped their game, look at every team score in qualification, they
:11:53. > :12:04.have all improved. Both teams are up to the fight and there is only one
:12:05. > :12:07.marking it and anything can happen with three pieces left to go. Yes,
:12:08. > :12:10.and I was thinking back to your captain 's role, if you were there
:12:11. > :12:13.now, what would you be saying halfway round? Don't look at the
:12:14. > :12:17.scores because anything can happen, keep your team calm, they know what
:12:18. > :12:22.they've got to do, having Christian that as the captain is great because
:12:23. > :12:26.he has the experience of an Olympic Games and Louis has now finished so
:12:27. > :12:30.he can step back and help the team to keep calm. OK. Just looking at
:12:31. > :12:35.confirmation that Russia are ahead of Great Britain with Ukraine in
:12:36. > :12:38.third, France in fourth, Germany theft, Switzerland six, Italy
:12:39. > :12:45.seventh and Spain are still in eighth. -- Germany fifth. This is
:12:46. > :12:49.now the fourth rotation. Italy and Spain will be on the floor and then
:12:50. > :12:53.Great Britain and Russia on the vault. Ukraine and Switzerland will
:12:54. > :13:01.be on the parallel bars and Germany, France on the high bar. Dan, what
:13:02. > :13:05.would you say about Great Britain on the vault? How would you sum it up?
:13:06. > :13:10.Is this an area where we can improve? Obviously we have Christian
:13:11. > :13:21.who has a big vault and he will always score big. But with Purvis
:13:22. > :13:27.and Nile, we have almost two safe 2.5s. You know you can guarantee a
:13:28. > :13:31.good score. Here is Nile Wilson with his fourth piece, he is working
:13:32. > :13:38.every piece today for Great Britain. A busy day today. And very, very big
:13:39. > :13:42.and controlled vault. Look at the distance from the platform. Two and
:13:43. > :13:46.a half twists in the straight position. Quite a blind landing, it
:13:47. > :13:52.is pretty difficult and he makes it very easy. He is bearing efficient
:13:53. > :13:57.at it, as Dan was saying. Minimal deductions, legs locked together,
:13:58. > :14:05.just a step on minding down the middle. Yes, that was a great team
:14:06. > :14:09.vault. -- on landing. It proves that he can transfer from the top of the
:14:10. > :14:15.vault, there you can see that he gets plenty of height and distance.
:14:16. > :14:20.I really like Nile, I think he's a very good gymnast. I think he's
:14:21. > :14:24.thinking, well, we don't have max today, I'm going to take on the
:14:25. > :14:29.role, and he is really maturing into a great gymnast. Look at the score.
:14:30. > :14:34.You used the word mature, because he hasn't long been out of the junior
:14:35. > :14:38.ranks. These are early days in his senior career and putting in a
:14:39. > :14:43.performance like that, you know, bidding for Rio. This is a very good
:14:44. > :14:54.show for him. Dan Purvis. His turn on the vault. They are depending on
:14:55. > :14:59.him again today. Lovely blog. Super two and a half. He shows us how it's
:15:00. > :15:01.done. -- lovely block. He absolutely blocks off the top of the platform.
:15:02. > :15:16.One of the best year Shingo -- year performances. He really battles to
:15:17. > :15:20.hold onto that. Look at the form in his legs through the air. He
:15:21. > :15:24.absolutely wraps into the twists. You see a lot of gymnasts in the
:15:25. > :15:30.twist starting to slow down or bend their legs but not with Dan. That is
:15:31. > :15:37.Dan the man! We certainly needed that because we have 25.6s where
:15:38. > :15:40.Russia will come out with difficult points, so if you've not got the
:15:41. > :15:47.difficulty, then you have to perform just like that.
:15:48. > :15:53.Well, two sighs of relief, and here comes the third... It will be a
:15:54. > :16:01.bigger sigh of relief, because this is a much riskier vault. As Dan was
:16:02. > :16:08.saying, the other two are sort of Mr dependable, but this is either
:16:09. > :16:21.great, are on the edge of your seat. 14.866, so here comes the risk
:16:22. > :16:25.factor. Come on, Kristian. Everybody watching at home is right with you
:16:26. > :16:31.here. Every ounce of power will go to this. Just go for the block, the
:16:32. > :16:36.moment the hands hit the table and launch him up into the sky. Saw
:16:37. > :16:46.important to get the exact speed of the run correct. Approach it,
:16:47. > :16:54.easily, lifted high, fantastic! Get! That was the risk, he took it, and
:16:55. > :16:58.it paid off -- so important. That was absolutely massive. He just
:16:59. > :17:03.seemed to hang in the air, he could spot that landing, Dan, then came
:17:04. > :17:07.down. Yes, as soon as I saw it I knew that. A lot of time to spot
:17:08. > :17:14.that landing. A brilliant vault. One of the best I have seen. Yes, it
:17:15. > :17:20.reminds me of backing the Olympics. Now on the parallel bars, the
:17:21. > :17:28.European champion, Oleg Verniaiev, he has been for two years now. Just
:17:29. > :17:34.enjoy this. The only gymnast to post above 16 in qualification. This is a
:17:35. > :17:40.real masterclass of parallel bar work. Beautiful shape and line in
:17:41. > :17:54.the handstand. Under somersault, locked out with straight arms. Hi
:17:55. > :18:05.there. -- high. Highest difficulty work. That was the Bhavsar. Double
:18:06. > :18:15.front have, nails the landing. What a routine. -- front half. Ukraine
:18:16. > :18:19.are definitely on their way back now, putting that shaky pommel horse
:18:20. > :18:23.behind them, and that is what you need, European champion like that to
:18:24. > :18:30.go on and just calm you down with two pieces to go. Is a really classy
:18:31. > :18:34.gymnast. He works most of the Grand Prixs, we see lots of them in
:18:35. > :18:41.competition, and he is just so efficient. I think he is of those
:18:42. > :18:46.gymnasts is definitely not working at his maximum. These are routines
:18:47. > :18:48.he can do quite easily. The fact you are seeing how consistent these
:18:49. > :18:52.routines are shows how comfortable he is with them, but they are still
:18:53. > :18:56.getting big scores and winning medals so why is there a need to go
:18:57. > :19:01.higher? Yes, but by not working at his maximum and putting the most
:19:02. > :19:05.difficult things in he can be able to consistently perform rather than
:19:06. > :19:09.be on the edge of the time, yes. But it is that kind of relationship,
:19:10. > :19:20.isn't it, between difficulty and execution? 15.4 for Kristian Thomas.
:19:21. > :19:27.Superb vault, superb team effort so far. Just when you think you need a
:19:28. > :19:32.bit of help, it goes Kristian and bangs in a vault like that, 15.4,
:19:33. > :19:41.just what the guys needed. They are piling on the pressure for Russia
:19:42. > :19:46.now. Absolutely. Now the third of the German gymnasts to go up onto
:19:47. > :19:54.high bar, Marcel envoy in. European medallist in the past. -- Marcel
:19:55. > :19:58.Nguyen. One of the very famous German gymnasts. He was actually
:19:59. > :20:08.second at the last Olympics I was going to say, all-around. But he
:20:09. > :20:14.didn't get his second hand anywhere near the Bado did he. Wrapped in and
:20:15. > :20:18.his second-hand was dangling underneath. It was high, but he just
:20:19. > :20:24.did not have that precise and placement. A very risky move. Now,
:20:25. > :20:28.not only has he lost a fall. But he will not get credited with that
:20:29. > :20:33.element. You need both hands on, you need to have at least what the
:20:34. > :20:37.judges call a momentary hang, so he has lost the value. Will he try it
:20:38. > :20:44.again? Straight this time, but a bit similar with the re-grasp. And
:20:45. > :20:56.without the twist, very nicely performed. A bit late on the
:20:57. > :21:04.pirouette. But he swings with such ease and style, one arm very
:21:05. > :21:17.comfortable work. A little bit of loss of leg form on occasion, but he
:21:18. > :21:20.winds up, up, in two, over the bar, the Kovacs again, I thought he was
:21:21. > :21:26.wading into the dismount-mac. There is the dismount-mac! Really
:21:27. > :21:29.disappointed with himself there. -- there is the dismount. It is the ten
:21:30. > :21:34.most difficult moves that are counted, isn't it? So it is not as
:21:35. > :21:41.if they can keep going for ever. The first score we have seen over 16, 16
:21:42. > :21:43..1, and he just looks up and thinks, yeah, of course it is!
:21:44. > :21:53.LAUGHTER I'm not surprised. Why are you? --
:21:54. > :22:00.16.1. For Italy now, bronze at the European Championships three years
:22:01. > :22:04.ago. First tumble out of the floor area, and that is the difference
:22:05. > :22:08.between the best couple of teams and the other teams. They all do similar
:22:09. > :22:13.work, but it is the control at the end of the landings, the end of the
:22:14. > :22:20.tumble runs, bending his legs a little as he rebounded there. A
:22:21. > :22:25.stylish gymnast. The Italian team very much rebuilding. My goodness,
:22:26. > :22:30.that completely landed out. That is twice he has not managed to stay in
:22:31. > :22:40.the square. Nice full twisting double back. Bit of a hop back. If
:22:41. > :22:45.you step out of the floor area, it is 0.3, well, step out is as you .1,
:22:46. > :22:55.but if you jump out and landed it is your point three. -- it is easy to
:22:56. > :23:00..1 if you step out. He will be racking up the deductions.
:23:01. > :23:06.Controlling the power now. Very popular, triple twist to finish
:23:07. > :23:17.with. Does so nicely. No major falls, but plenty of deductions.
:23:18. > :23:23.There we go. You see the double twist, into the floor, and very
:23:24. > :23:28.athletic and powerful young man, but they're in the year is to be able to
:23:29. > :23:33.control that power. Difficult tumble in here and you can see he loses leg
:23:34. > :23:37.tension little, crossing of the legs on the triple twist. The judges will
:23:38. > :23:43.pick that up. Lots of little hops and bouncers throughout the routine.
:23:44. > :23:55.Something to go and work on. Nguyen, 12.93, after that fall on the high
:23:56. > :24:02.bar. -- 12.933. If you're wondering about the size of the floor area it
:24:03. > :24:07.is 12 metres by 12 metres. Extra strong. Or not, in his case! Extra
:24:08. > :24:12.sprung, because it is on the podium, so the podium is wood and has a
:24:13. > :24:15.little bit of a spring on its own, but interestingly this is an ace
:24:16. > :24:33.rink, so the podium is up and over quite a solid hard circus -- ice
:24:34. > :24:35.rink. It sounds obvious but the junior men had to cancel their
:24:36. > :24:44.podium training halfway through because it was so cold! The heating
:24:45. > :24:48.was not working properly and, so, really, our junior boys did so well
:24:49. > :24:51.without a full podium. All across Europe and certainly in Britain, as
:24:52. > :24:56.was it the championships, the amount of people who want to watch this
:24:57. > :25:02.sport now, they have to go to these bigger places or ice rink and so one
:25:03. > :25:15.that can actually get the people in. Back in our day, Craig, it was just
:25:16. > :25:23.mum and dad upon the balcony the photo. Yes, how times have changed,
:25:24. > :25:31.luckily! -- up on the balcony taking the photo. Certainly Russia will
:25:32. > :25:35.have something to say about that. But this, goodness me, I wonder what
:25:36. > :25:40.they are saying to themselves, Dan, Russia? They know it is hit or miss?
:25:41. > :25:45.The pressure will really be on and Russia have three big vaulters, so
:25:46. > :25:53.it is released it or miss. Up first, there are big vaulters, the current
:25:54. > :26:00.European vault champion, Nikita Nagornyy. He has looked very
:26:01. > :26:05.impressive so far and another vault just flew out the rafters, didn't
:26:06. > :26:13.it? Well, that was what we were speaking about before, the half-time
:26:14. > :26:19.that Verniaiev scored 15.4 with, but that was just beautiful. The hate of
:26:20. > :26:24.the floor, similar to Verniaiev's, so I think it will be around the
:26:25. > :26:29.same score at, beautiful. Look at the time he has got. Think more
:26:30. > :26:33.likely is an extra twist out of it. The one and a half out of the double
:26:34. > :26:36.front, that would be more what I would expect to see. You can see the
:26:37. > :26:41.landing, you can see how he could get ready for the landing a lot
:26:42. > :26:55.easier than just doing the double front. Really impressive young man.
:26:56. > :27:07.15.3! Darren, actually, on Verniaiev's. Next up, he has been
:27:08. > :27:13.great in competition, a very important vault for Russia, there
:27:14. > :27:18.is. Yes, it was on its -- he was on his face in qualifications, so he
:27:19. > :27:23.will not want to go there again. He is really pushing hard, and he has
:27:24. > :27:30.made it. He definitely did not want to go there again. We have seen him
:27:31. > :27:34.false or many times, brilliant to see him land. You would think,
:27:35. > :27:38.wouldn't you, looking at that, he seemed to have an enormous amount of
:27:39. > :27:44.time and space to land it. You would wonder how he could not land that
:27:45. > :27:48.every time. It all depends on the run-up on the block there. If you
:27:49. > :27:52.can get your hips in the right place, you can go a split-second too
:27:53. > :27:55.early or too late and you can be on your face rolling backwards and that
:27:56. > :28:02.is why it is such a difficult vault at the sixth value, but that was a
:28:03. > :28:05.super vault, and he will want to prove to himself and the coaches
:28:06. > :28:12.that he can actually do the vault, and what a time to pull it out, in
:28:13. > :28:27.the team final. 15.233, one gymnast to go, and two pieces of apparatus.
:28:28. > :28:37.Over to the high bar. Zachari Hrimeche, from France. Had his
:28:38. > :28:43.senior debut last year. Smooth swing, quite a quiet start. He is in
:28:44. > :28:48.the reverse grip. Gymnasts have to show more than one Brit. This is an
:28:49. > :28:56.over grip, so he has done that already. Changes his swing, ready
:28:57. > :29:00.for the full turning, and Kovacs, but nowhere near. He kicked over the
:29:01. > :29:03.bar rather than up into the air and that is again somewhere we will see
:29:04. > :29:09.he will not get any value for the move because he completely missed.
:29:10. > :29:19.Floundering in the error there. Just a word, Dan, and how you actually
:29:20. > :29:23.train these? -- chalk. You will begin to build up confidence then
:29:24. > :29:29.move onto the hard floor and it just about seeing the bat-mac. -- the
:29:30. > :29:33.bar. You can see the change the shape of verse when depending on
:29:34. > :29:36.what they are going to do. They are just ordinary, swinging their
:29:37. > :29:41.straight body, then they change the shape when they are going to make a
:29:42. > :29:45.release. That was a nice pirouette. The different shape of swing will
:29:46. > :29:52.change what you can do at the end of it, the timing. And now you can see
:29:53. > :29:56.he is in a dislocated grip. Working against the shoulder line, and now
:29:57. > :29:59.he is changing shape, ready to kick it into the desperate, double
:30:00. > :30:07.straight with full twist. Some very nice work, -- kick into the
:30:08. > :30:12.dismount. Doing what he can to build the difficulty and make those marks
:30:13. > :30:20.back, so plenty of changes in grip. Shapes, and the swing, as we can
:30:21. > :30:24.see. You have to be quite precise, don't you, Dan? To get your thumbs
:30:25. > :30:27.right are like that? Krhin Matt Jess, you have to catch it perfectly
:30:28. > :30:37.to make sure your thumbs are underneath the mark -- yes, you do
:30:38. > :30:44.have to catch it. This is the second of the Swiss to go on parallel bars,
:30:45. > :30:49.Yusof. A good clean start, showing great control. Nice in the front
:30:50. > :31:09.somersault, straight to Pirouette. Long swing. Clean into
:31:10. > :31:17.the handstand. Turns, working well. Squeezes the feed together. Oh, he
:31:18. > :31:23.had to hold it there. He nails the dismount. Only one little error in
:31:24. > :31:27.the routine. I tell you what, that was a great rescue. He could have
:31:28. > :31:33.gone for a wander there. Yes, it's so easy to mess up your hand
:31:34. > :31:40.placement. I don't know how he manages to save that but he kept
:31:41. > :31:51.still to reduce the deductions. Good work on the one rail. You can see
:31:52. > :31:56.the flight there, again, he's looking at the rail. He is still
:31:57. > :32:07.moving up and he's able to lock out with straight arms. Very difficult.
:32:08. > :32:21.That is because of the fall on high bar.
:32:22. > :32:31.Zapata from Spain. And very, very explosive gymnast. He got a bronze
:32:32. > :32:41.at the world year. A bit of a step there but that was the one and a
:32:42. > :32:47.half, double front. Just a little hop. Oh, no, that was never on, the
:32:48. > :32:52.two and a half, he did not contact the floor properly and he did well
:32:53. > :32:57.not to sit right down. I think he brushed the floor. Double straight
:32:58. > :33:00.with full twist. Not quite as sharp as we saw him at the World
:33:01. > :33:05.Championships. This is super difficulty. Just a little step
:33:06. > :33:24.through the landing. Many of these gymnasts will be
:33:25. > :33:32.fighting for team places for the Olympics.
:33:33. > :33:39.That was a secure landing. Hours away, double straight, nice finish.
:33:40. > :33:43.Just the little step as though he did not quite have the confidence to
:33:44. > :33:54.keep his feet still. It's an interesting point. Zapata got a
:33:55. > :33:56.bronze at the last world's. How much can sharpness fluctuate on a piece
:33:57. > :34:01.of apparatus like floor and how do you get it back? Obviously at the
:34:02. > :34:05.point in the year where you are trying to peak for the biggest
:34:06. > :34:13.competition. It can be the biggest between Tensai Lee Janzen -- one or
:34:14. > :34:18.two tenths on each landing. Tips to get the sharpness back? What do you
:34:19. > :34:23.do? It is just the amount of training that you do in the gym,
:34:24. > :34:27.putting in the numbers. Christian Baumann. The last gymnast for
:34:28. > :34:34.Switzerland, this is an important piece, they want to try to make it
:34:35. > :34:41.onto the medals table. 15.666 in qualification, fourth, we know he
:34:42. > :34:54.has the skills. Nice in the Stutz, combined into the Healy turn.
:34:55. > :35:07.Pirouette, very efficient. Back into the handstand. Here wet. Again, that
:35:08. > :35:13.was nice shape in the handstand. Stutz Just can't afford a flicker.
:35:14. > :35:17.Double pike. Slight adjustment on landing. Switzerland stay in
:35:18. > :35:21.contention. They are certainly on their way back. That man got a
:35:22. > :35:29.silver medal at the last Europeans, he did his country proud. He will go
:35:30. > :35:44.on to the high bar now. This is their big piece. Parallel bars. Very
:35:45. > :35:45.successful, the Swiss team, here. Confirmation of the order, Russia
:35:46. > :36:08.are still ahead of Great Britain. Just a little sit down. Yes, we had
:36:09. > :36:22.a replay of that, it was a hallmark. This is the final Swiss gymnast. --
:36:23. > :36:27.a for Mark. -- full mark. Keep your eyes on this. Full twist. Not only
:36:28. > :36:33.is that two and a half somersault but with a full twist as well.
:36:34. > :36:38.15.666, goodness me, that seemed to defy gravity in every single plane.
:36:39. > :36:42.One minute he was twisting and then somersaulting and turning. Goodness
:36:43. > :36:46.me. I'm surprised he was able to squeeze that in. That's the best
:36:47. > :36:51.I've seen that, normally he goes to one side but it was bang in the
:36:52. > :36:59.middle. Obviously something he has been working on, thinking, you know,
:37:00. > :37:03.I've got a real challenge -- real chance. With vault like that there
:37:04. > :37:07.is every possibility he could be the Olympic champion. This is the thing,
:37:08. > :37:13.let's hope they don't overcook it as far as is concerned. They have to
:37:14. > :37:17.maintain that level for quite a while. -- as far as Rio is
:37:18. > :37:21.concerned. Russia are similar to Great Britain in that the gymnasts
:37:22. > :37:24.are fighting for their places. Five British guys out there and another
:37:25. > :37:29.three or four at home who are also looking to push them out.
:37:30. > :37:34.Realistically they could. I guess it's probably quite the same story
:37:35. > :37:42.in Russia. Here we go, confirmation after four pieces that Russia are
:37:43. > :37:50.ahead of Great Britain by 2.35 marks. Switzerland are now in third.
:37:51. > :37:55.They have knocked the Ukraine down to fourth. Well, what a strong
:37:56. > :38:00.parallel bars performance from Switzerland and they will be able to
:38:01. > :38:04.keep the swing going into the high bar. Looking at qualification, this
:38:05. > :38:10.team was second in the high bar so they will have a real chance but
:38:11. > :38:15.it's not just a guaranteed, we're going to nail this. It will be
:38:16. > :38:19.interesting. Switzerland will be very excited at the fact they are in
:38:20. > :38:23.this position and hopefully they can hang on. That would be really nice
:38:24. > :38:27.for them. It's worth knowing that five marks is quite a nice cushion
:38:28. > :38:32.between second and third that Great Britain have. Russia and Great
:38:33. > :38:38.Britain are well ahead of the rest of Europe. What a fantastic thing.
:38:39. > :38:43.I've been around in gymnastics long enough to remember the days where we
:38:44. > :38:46.just looked in or at Russia and never for one minute thought we
:38:47. > :38:52.would be able to consider meeting them. What a great situation we are
:38:53. > :38:56.in now. I'm of a generation when I was in the team and we wouldn't even
:38:57. > :39:02.make the team final. We were in war of the rest of Europe. The last ten
:39:03. > :39:12.years has been absolutely extraordinary. -- we were in awe.
:39:13. > :39:17.Let's get him onto the high bar so he can carry on. Ukraine are forth
:39:18. > :39:22.at the moment. Oh dear. That did not do their chances any good. First of
:39:23. > :39:29.all he took three swings before he got going and then a relatively
:39:30. > :39:34.quiet move, doing the hop over the bar, trying to catch it with a mixed
:39:35. > :39:38.grip and he does not make the turn. When they catch in mixed grip it is
:39:39. > :39:45.so they make another turn and he just did not really commit himself
:39:46. > :39:49.to the turn. You can see the bar twanging away. Loss of the value of
:39:50. > :39:56.the element plus a fault and they still have to use this score,
:39:57. > :40:07.whatever. Do it again, this time without the mixed grip.
:40:08. > :40:17.Stolder and the half turn. They should turn as close to the vertical
:40:18. > :40:22.as possible. Looks much more suited to the rings than high bar at this
:40:23. > :40:27.stage of events. We've seen him do a great rings routine, and that's an
:40:28. > :40:31.excellent dismount, but the work on the high bar was not very
:40:32. > :40:35.comfortable at all. They were desperately trying to put pressure
:40:36. > :40:40.back on Switzerland. 0.6 between them and the Ukraine in four.
:40:41. > :40:48.Goodness me, what a disaster for them. 13.666 in qualification and
:40:49. > :40:52.depending on where the angle was for the camera, some of the turns looked
:40:53. > :41:00.quite late for me as well. It was quite a sloppy routine in parts.
:41:01. > :41:04.Obviously losing the mark for the mistake and the difficulty, the
:41:05. > :41:09.value of the skill as well, it was really costly and you can tell that
:41:10. > :41:12.he's not happy at all. Courtney Tulloch but in an absolute storming
:41:13. > :41:17.performance for Great Britain on rings. Here is his opportunity to
:41:18. > :41:25.show us what he can do on the parallel bars. Front somersault.
:41:26. > :41:31.Firmly into the handstand. Under somersault. A bit short but he
:41:32. > :41:42.blocks it out. Low swing, double pike. Difficult work. Pirouette.
:41:43. > :41:50.Front up rise, double back. Ads are there to protect the arms. Double
:41:51. > :41:57.front. -- the pads. Working very well so far. The gymnasts must
:41:58. > :42:10.perform moves above and below the bars. That was nice. Executing the
:42:11. > :42:16.routine well so far. Healey turn. Slight adjustment. Into the double
:42:17. > :42:21.pike. Safely landed. That was good work. Job done for Courtney Tulloch.
:42:22. > :42:25.He came here to do two pieces of apparatus and goodness me has he
:42:26. > :42:30.done the team job today. He certainly has indeed, I would not
:42:31. > :42:34.say he was cautious but you could see that he did not want to give
:42:35. > :42:40.away anything there. He is really competitor, isn't he? I think he's
:42:41. > :42:44.grown a lot in this Championships. I think people will go away from this
:42:45. > :42:54.thinking, there's more to come from Courtney. 11.8, that has to hurt in
:42:55. > :42:57.more ways than one. Goodness me, what a shame for Ukraine. It's going
:42:58. > :43:03.to be a real battle between fourth and third. It could well be on
:43:04. > :43:09.because goodness me, 0.5 is nothing in the world of high bar. We have
:43:10. > :43:16.seen that. We have seen a few coming to grief today.
:43:17. > :43:24.Ukraine are usually considered to be a team who work well on the high
:43:25. > :43:34.bar. That was lovely, smooth, straight Tkachev. And a very nice
:43:35. > :43:40.turn at the top, big straddle Tkachev. There he had to end his
:43:41. > :43:46.elbows over on the forward swing out of it. Nice full pirouette. That was
:43:47. > :43:56.good into the hop. Very late turn, though. And another late turn. Those
:43:57. > :44:00.are areas where the judges can deduct very easily. And they will.
:44:01. > :44:09.Eibar scores are generally quite difficult to get. -- high bar. A lot
:44:10. > :44:13.of deductions. A nice dismount. Just a step on minding. A big improvement
:44:14. > :44:21.on the first gymnast from the Ukraine, he stayed on the apparatus.
:44:22. > :44:25.That's the key! You got on, went round and got off in one piece. If
:44:26. > :44:29.you look at the differences in expression on the faces of the
:44:30. > :44:35.Ukrainian and Russian team, that says it all, he looked deflated on
:44:36. > :44:39.the high bar. He did a decent job. He would be heavily deducted on the
:44:40. > :44:42.bent arms after the catch and being late on the turns. It is not their
:44:43. > :44:49.strongest piece but this is where every 10th really matters. Yes. As
:44:50. > :44:56.far as talking about those turns, you have to get between five to and
:44:57. > :45:00.five passed. A little bit low for Courtney Tulloch? I think that was
:45:01. > :45:04.slightly harsh but he must have been deducted heavily for a heavy
:45:05. > :45:08.landing. This is the turn of the Commonwealth champion Dan Purvis.
:45:09. > :45:15.This is a good piece of apparatus for Dan. 15.066 in qualification. He
:45:16. > :45:23.had to fight on the somersault to one bar. Just calming it down. Into
:45:24. > :45:45.the Healey. Long swing. Confident in the Stutz. High into
:45:46. > :45:47.the double pike. Better from Purves. That was impressive, using all of
:45:48. > :45:52.his competition experience. You could sense that he was rushing in
:45:53. > :45:56.the first half and he just brought, I'll take it steady and then we'll
:45:57. > :46:00.get through and that's exactly what he did. Two down and want to go and
:46:01. > :46:05.one more piece of apparatus, high bar.
:46:06. > :46:13.For years now I have watched him and that, stock to one rail, for a
:46:14. > :46:17.gymnast, such a difficult skill to do. He has obviously changed his
:46:18. > :46:26.routine edit in the years to find something he is comfortable with --
:46:27. > :46:31.stuck to one rail. Is certainly comfortable with landings, to his
:46:32. > :46:44.benefit. Super dismount. Good job done. 13.5 four Semiankiv. -- for.
:46:45. > :47:01.Switzerland will be watching this very closely. The next gymnast, the
:47:02. > :47:09.last gymnast, to go on the high bar. He has been so impressive, on vault,
:47:10. > :47:14.parallel bars, and no on high buyers. that is how it is done, a
:47:15. > :47:20.little off line. kept his elbows straight. that is very nice, the
:47:21. > :47:30.turn of the top. you see, hot on bull-mac straight arms, nor
:47:31. > :47:34.interruption of swing. -- caught on full straight arms. very difficult
:47:35. > :47:40.to do this and keep the swing going. pushing the shoulders forward quite
:47:41. > :47:49.a bit there. there is his in-bar work. the turn. lots of confidence
:47:50. > :47:52.and composure. here is the big kick, the two twists and the double
:47:53. > :48:01.straight. and the trademark dismount we have seen, he is very slick,
:48:02. > :48:08.isn't he, with his work with so efficient. Very confident. And is
:48:09. > :48:13.going to throw this in there, but I am not a fan of this routine. I tell
:48:14. > :48:26.you why. I think it is quite safe. It over
:48:27. > :48:34.users the Markelov quite a lot, and if you watch, if you convert our
:48:35. > :48:37.guys, they do that a lot better than that. But you have to use the court
:48:38. > :48:45.to your advantage and body type. Hang on. We will carry on with that
:48:46. > :48:50.in a minute. 14.7 four Daniel Purvis. We have at the Commonwealth
:48:51. > :48:57.champion. Now Nile Wilson, who came second at those Commonwealth Games,
:48:58. > :49:04.behind Dan Purvis. 20 years old. Something special. Straight to
:49:05. > :49:18.handstand. That at the line in his back. -- look at the line. Have
:49:19. > :49:27.torn. That is very good control. -- half turn. High into the double back
:49:28. > :49:31.with kick out, that is how you do a double back. Pirouette. Look at
:49:32. > :49:46.that. Pirouette. Fluent into the
:49:47. > :49:58.handstand. Can he hold it on the dismount?
:49:59. > :50:12.Healy turn, come on, Nile. That was made to impressive. Dan, you know
:50:13. > :50:17.what it is like to work them at the championship? Yes, you look so calm
:50:18. > :50:20.and composed, and it is not an easy routine. To go onto one bar and hold
:50:21. > :50:24.it as still as he did under that the mode of pressure is unbelievable. He
:50:25. > :50:28.has such a good head on his shoulders. Yes, just waiting for the
:50:29. > :50:32.right moment and going when he knew it was right. That takes a lot of
:50:33. > :50:37.confidence. It does, and it is something he has obviously work hard
:50:38. > :50:43.on in training which make him feel confident about it. Full of
:50:44. > :50:47.confidence, drive and determination, Nile, wears his heart on his sleeve.
:50:48. > :50:51.Very untypical of us Brits, to be honest, but great to see. Sinai and
:50:52. > :50:57.somebody actually who loves to compete. He is absolutely loving
:50:58. > :51:04.every minute of that performance -- yes, and somebody actually lost to
:51:05. > :51:12.compete. It has to be a big score. It is 15.966, well done, Nile
:51:13. > :51:19.Wilson! One more piece to go for Great Britain. Things are looking
:51:20. > :51:25.very good. That one step on landing denied and that 16. So impressive,
:51:26. > :51:32.wasn't it? Such a difficult landing off any piece of apparatus, and
:51:33. > :51:35.actually, if he could half out, it gets similar advantage... Look at
:51:36. > :51:48.that. Great Britain are ten marks ahead of Ukraine. That is what one
:51:49. > :51:52.fall from the high bar does for you. 14.766, four Oleg Verniaiev. You
:51:53. > :51:56.were saying about the high bar routine, and I agree. It is not his
:51:57. > :52:00.best routine, but the secret of becoming an all-round good performer
:52:01. > :52:04.is to make your strong pieces really good and your weaker piece is good
:52:05. > :52:16.enough. It is not his best piece but he has made a good enough. For our
:52:17. > :52:28.viewers at home, there are kind of graded levels, and I think G is the
:52:29. > :52:32.hardest. Yes, but I think now there is an H. A double twist with the
:52:33. > :52:43.double straight with a triple twist on the floor. Dreamer but that is
:52:44. > :52:51.the only H in the Code of Points. So for most of us, it is a G. -- yes,
:52:52. > :52:57.but that is the only H. Do not want to see it as a bad routine, but for
:52:58. > :53:00.me... You have said it now! For me hard work is being able to use a
:53:01. > :53:06.variety of skills and releases. It is smart, the way he has come up
:53:07. > :53:11.with the routine that he has. I have a feeling we are watching the first
:53:12. > :53:17.Swiss competitor here. On the final piece of apparatus. Yes, we did not
:53:18. > :53:22.get the intro for him but he is doing far more than you would ever
:53:23. > :53:27.do in your warm up. And he fell on the dismount, if it is. And they
:53:28. > :53:33.look like it was. We did not get the introduction, but here it is, Oliver
:53:34. > :53:38.Hegi, and the work on a high bar was great, but the dismount just flew
:53:39. > :53:49.away from him. This is their fifth, then. Yes. What a shame. First up in
:53:50. > :53:53.the second half is what is happening now so the Russians will be up on
:53:54. > :54:03.parallel bars to follow Great Britain then the Swiss are following
:54:04. > :54:06.Ukraine on high bar. Yes, Pablo Braegger will be the next to go for
:54:07. > :54:13.them and then this will be the penultimate piece of apparatus.
:54:14. > :54:22.Nikolai Kuksenkov, the first of the Russian gymnasts. Sloppy there in
:54:23. > :54:33.the front somersault, bit of fall backdown on apparatus, and that will
:54:34. > :54:49.be heavily deducted. Krhin in the Healy turn. Somersault, long swing.
:54:50. > :54:58.-- clean in this Healy turn. A little flicker, in the switch to one
:54:59. > :55:04.buyer. Loss of tension the legs. Better. High in the front uprise,
:55:05. > :55:10.and can he spot the landing? Yes, he can. Double front, left time. A
:55:11. > :55:15.costly routine I think that was for Russia. There are looking under
:55:16. > :55:21.pressure, and rightly so. Two marks between then and Great Britain. It
:55:22. > :55:25.was not a major mistake, but it was all this routine, here and there,
:55:26. > :55:35.when you see the legs straddled, a bit bent, the very first bet he lost
:55:36. > :55:41.marks and rhythm with. 13.5. They have seen Ukraine go and know there
:55:42. > :55:45.has been a fall there. Coming into this rotation. A tiny bit of
:55:46. > :55:52.breathing space. They just have to keep going. Pablo Braegger now. To
:55:53. > :55:55.get into the high bar -- he did get into the high bar final last year's
:55:56. > :56:02.European Championship in it and he has qualified for this year's. So we
:56:03. > :56:07.should see an exciting routine here. Here it comes. Finance Bill twist,
:56:08. > :56:16.very nicely negotiated. -- full twist. The mixed grip, swings
:56:17. > :56:28.smoothly up. Beautifully linked, the two difficult elements. Clean
:56:29. > :56:42.pirouettes, but a little bit late on that one. But he linked it into the
:56:43. > :56:48.Markelov. Lots of energy. By this dismount, lifted up, and makes the
:56:49. > :56:53.landing. Much, much better. What a performance there! Two gymnasts on
:56:54. > :56:56.high bar, one more to go. They are sitting pretty for that bronze medal
:56:57. > :57:02.at the moment, and the pressure is on. It is building. However, it has
:57:03. > :57:05.been relieved slightly by the home crowd. You can almost sense they are
:57:06. > :57:16.lifting their gymnasts up into the air to give them that extra bit of
:57:17. > :57:19.time to reach out and grab the bar. Kovacs, executed really well. Full
:57:20. > :57:24.extension. That is what the judges like to see, launching those arms
:57:25. > :57:31.out, straight arm into the long swing, a real variety. There is one
:57:32. > :57:33.of the locals, getting the cowbells going, we'll have some of that!
:57:34. > :57:37.LAUGHTER The thing is when there is an
:57:38. > :57:40.atmosphere like that it can lift you even if they are not cheering for
:57:41. > :57:52.you, can't it? If you are doing well and you just hear the crowd go.
:57:53. > :58:04.14.266, Kuksenkov. Down from where he would want to be, and no doubt
:58:05. > :58:06.with that two and a bit but we have between Russia and Great Britain.
:58:07. > :58:14.Here is the Olympic champion on the parallel bars. Usual front
:58:15. > :58:24.somersault, into the handstand. Beautiful and somersault. One-to-one
:58:25. > :58:38.-- on to one buyer. Little fluctuation of the arms, get the
:58:39. > :58:42.momentum -- H. Into the Healy turn. Off one and a quarter. He had to use
:58:43. > :58:50.a bit of strength there and bring it back into the bars. Double front
:58:51. > :58:55.have line. Very good rescue. -- land. Although impressive stuff,
:58:56. > :59:00.this is their shakiest piece, I would say, wouldn't you? Room for
:59:01. > :59:05.improvement between now and Rio? For the Russians, on the parallel bars,
:59:06. > :59:10.Dan? Yes, there probably is. If you look at their qualification, their
:59:11. > :59:16.bars was amazing, amazing for any team. It shows the pressure is
:59:17. > :59:21.getting to them slightly. As a 19-year-old just up from the junior
:59:22. > :59:27.ranks, he looks very strong. Very strong, mentally as well physically.
:59:28. > :59:33.Yes, I mean every time I see him he has improved and he has impressed me
:59:34. > :59:41.every time I have seen as well. 14.633, good job done for Paolo Bray
:59:42. > :59:46.go on high bar. -- Pablo Braegger. Switzerland are wondering, can
:59:47. > :59:50.thereby do this? It is floor after this, one more piece of apparatus,
:59:51. > :59:57.but this is vital from Christian Baumann. Is the big star, clearly
:59:58. > :00:02.through that release -- he the big star. That little floor, he cover
:00:03. > :00:12.that it well. That was very nice, one and a half turn. Times in the
:00:13. > :00:17.handstand. -- towns in the handstand. Full of pirouettes this
:00:18. > :00:21.routine and a lot of pirouettes can attract a lot of deductions, but
:00:22. > :00:30.there is this day and in swings, against the shoulder blade.
:00:31. > :00:34.Controlling the swing well, controlling his nerve. Just that
:00:35. > :00:41.twist, that step back. Satisfactory performance. Not great, but... That
:00:42. > :00:46.will do! I was thinking, that was very efficient and just what the
:00:47. > :00:51.Swiss guys needed. You can easily through a competition away on the
:00:52. > :00:59.high bar with a fall and he did an absolutely super job under that
:01:00. > :01:03.pressure. Some really well executed times in that routine, to what we
:01:04. > :01:08.have seen. You know, I think this team final, it just sums up, doesn't
:01:09. > :01:13.it, hope diverse gymnastics is? When you move from one piece, to another,
:01:14. > :01:16.to another and, I don't know, just how diverse and all the different
:01:17. > :01:25.skills you need to be able to compete as a nation around the whole
:01:26. > :01:32.gymnastics arena? 15.466 four Nagornyy. What a score for the
:01:33. > :01:34.19-year-old. -- for. The last gymnast for Russia on the parallel
:01:35. > :01:46.bars. He is in the parallel bar final as
:01:47. > :01:50.well tomorrow. Somersault to handstand, locking those arms, to
:01:51. > :02:04.one bar. Favoured by so many gymnasts now. That was really
:02:05. > :02:11.difficult work. Into the pirouette. There is the drop chute. Front
:02:12. > :02:19.somersault and cleanly into the handstand. Shoulders a little back
:02:20. > :02:31.in the Healy. Drops to one bar. Into the handstand. Stutz. Can he hang
:02:32. > :02:37.on? High into the double front, yes he can! He is looking as good as
:02:38. > :02:40.ever. He is looking a bit fitter, a bit more slight, like he has lost
:02:41. > :02:45.weight and he is really in control of his work. I haven't seen him
:02:46. > :02:50.looking like this for a while, he's looking confident and he is out to
:02:51. > :02:57.take the fight to GB. What a routine. That will be in the high
:02:58. > :03:06.15s. It was packed, not a single moment where he just took an extra
:03:07. > :03:09.handstand, extra weight. That would be a deduction, knees bending pass
:03:10. > :03:12.the bar but as soon as one element was finished there was the next one
:03:13. > :03:21.and that is how the difficulty scored builds. By adding the D and
:03:22. > :03:25.immediately another D element. You get a bonus for that. The British
:03:26. > :03:30.coaches as you can see knew that that was a good performance. It
:03:31. > :03:37.makes you wonder what the situation would be if Max Whitlock was there.
:03:38. > :03:47.They seem to be taking the opportunity, don't they? In Max's
:03:48. > :03:50.absence. And rightly so. We would do exactly the same if their best team
:03:51. > :03:56.player... Let's think about this. Our best guy is at home probably
:03:57. > :04:02.watching this and GB are probably on Brazil the medal. That would have
:04:03. > :04:06.been unheard of. -- on for a silver medal. We have to think about how
:04:07. > :04:14.well we've done. Given the opportunities, Courtney Tulloch has
:04:15. > :04:18.shined as he has. Remarkable. How do you feel about this? It's almost as
:04:19. > :04:22.though it has become the norm over the past few years, we were always
:04:23. > :04:26.fighting Russia over the top spot and that's how much British
:04:27. > :04:30.athletics has improved in ten years. I remember growing up and my first
:04:31. > :04:34.World Championships we were struggling to make the top ten and
:04:35. > :04:40.we have improved year by year. And of course interestingly,...
:04:41. > :04:44.Confirmation that Russia are well ahead of Great Britain in second.
:04:45. > :04:48.Look at the gap between Great Britain and Switzerland in third at
:04:49. > :04:59.the moment with one piece to go. Goodness me. I don't know how they
:05:00. > :05:06.must be feeling. But there are now three marks between Switzerland and
:05:07. > :05:14.Ukraine. David Belyavskiy. There is confirmation. That is a massive
:05:15. > :05:21.score. Massive, but not as big as 15.9 66. That is one of the routines
:05:22. > :05:27.of the competition so far. And he's the reserve for the final! Yes! What
:05:28. > :05:32.a shame. Hopefully he may get a chance to work. You sometimes do as
:05:33. > :05:33.a reserve. The rest of the field will be hoping that he can't after
:05:34. > :05:48.that performance! And of course, the junior team
:05:49. > :05:52.competition was two days ago and that was a big fight between Russia
:05:53. > :05:57.and Great Britain as well. So it very definitely is the case that
:05:58. > :06:02.they are the dominant forces in Europe. Yes. The junior men got
:06:03. > :06:06.their fifth title for the team, and we will bring you up-to-date very
:06:07. > :06:13.shortly after this competition. We will give you a quick rundown and a
:06:14. > :06:18.video montage of what happened. This is how the final piece of apparatus,
:06:19. > :06:21.the final rotation, I should say. Ukraine and Switzerland on floor,
:06:22. > :06:26.Germany and France on the pommel horse and over on the rings it is
:06:27. > :06:31.Italy and Spain. Rate Britain alongside Russia round up their
:06:32. > :06:38.competition on the high bar. The stage is set for Dan Purvis. He has
:06:39. > :06:46.just been superb today. And the lads can enjoy this. I hope, I really do.
:06:47. > :06:50.They have a good buffer ahead of Switzerland in third and the key to
:06:51. > :06:55.this is just going through and then you don't really want to rely on
:06:56. > :07:00.your opponents to fall, but let's see what happens. The final piece of
:07:01. > :07:07.apparatus in the men's team final. Dan Purvis has made his opening
:07:08. > :07:12.elements. And the next combination well. That was not so spectacular.
:07:13. > :07:24.Such a great technician on the high bar. Lovely hop, full pirouette.
:07:25. > :07:28.Clever routine, quick routine. That was a beautiful dismount. Packed
:07:29. > :07:32.full of difficulty. The shorter it is the less the judges can deduct.
:07:33. > :07:36.That was a great start for Great Britain. What a team job for Dan
:07:37. > :07:42.Purvis, put on your tracksuit, take the weight off your feet, well done,
:07:43. > :07:46.that man. There you can see, the one on work, very clean, search a
:07:47. > :07:53.productive performance on this piece of apparatus. Great at the in bar
:07:54. > :08:01.work and clean through the turns and the lines. He propels high into the
:08:02. > :08:10.air for the double twist. 13.9 in qualification. Hopefully that will
:08:11. > :08:13.go a bit better. Germany, just warming up and getting the handle is
:08:14. > :08:17.right ready for the pommel horse. They were probably wish they were
:08:18. > :08:29.finishing somewhere else. Anything but the pommel horse! Exactly.
:08:30. > :08:43.He is 25 years old. We have just seen Daniel Purvis's score. There we
:08:44. > :08:54.are. What a consistent day he has had.
:08:55. > :08:59.Another consistent day. See you in Rio, Dan. See you at the airport!
:09:00. > :09:12.CHUCKLES I think Dan is definitely on the
:09:13. > :09:18.ticket, for sure. I beg your pardon. Waldemar Eichorn is open now. Second
:09:19. > :09:27.for Germany on the final piece. Single legwork. He picks up into the
:09:28. > :09:34.flare. Up into the handstand. Using a bit of strength there. Got to keep
:09:35. > :09:40.the momentum going. Well done. Back into the handstand. Another
:09:41. > :09:47.pirouette. Back into the flare. There is the spindle. And again.
:09:48. > :09:58.Travelling down the horse, and again in the flare. Will he use the double
:09:59. > :10:02.leg circle? Yes, he is. Russian Wendy. There you are, keep the
:10:03. > :10:13.momentum going. Lines up into the handstand. Full pirouette. Wind him
:10:14. > :10:16.up and go. I tell you what, he put in so many flares, he must be
:10:17. > :10:22.exhausted towards the end. That was a good effort. You have to say, even
:10:23. > :10:29.though you don't get the most marks it is the most exciting. It is. It's
:10:30. > :10:34.got flare! That is why it is called that. A bit less extension in the
:10:35. > :10:39.end but it was still very good. Will he do any leg circle work and when
:10:40. > :10:46.he did he realised why he was doing flares! LAUGHTER
:10:47. > :10:51.Nile Wilson is the second gymnast for Great Britain, this is his sixth
:10:52. > :10:56.and final piece of apparatus of the day. Like Dan he has worked all six
:10:57. > :11:02.and he is Commonwealth champion on high bar. Nile, stand-by for
:11:03. > :11:08.fireworks. This is a risky routine. He needs to be and concentrating.
:11:09. > :11:16.You can see the full turning straight Kovac. Fingertips. And now
:11:17. > :11:25.the second one in the Moyes position. Makes sure. -- the tuck
:11:26. > :11:33.position. Now the turning, one and a half pirouette. This location. Full
:11:34. > :11:46.turn. Very nicely done. With the half turn. Hide Tkachev, swings out
:11:47. > :11:56.beautifully. There we go again with the mixed grip. Half turn and a big
:11:57. > :12:02.swing up. -- high Tkachev. This is a really intense routine. Come on,
:12:03. > :12:06.Nile, hit the dismount. Two twists, not a problem, what a performance,
:12:07. > :12:12.Nile Wilson, you really have impressed today. Goodness me, what a
:12:13. > :12:15.day that man has had, it was just the most outstanding high bar
:12:16. > :12:23.routine. It was packed with difficulty and it was clean as well.
:12:24. > :12:27.He was catching high, no arm bends all exploits. This is what I call
:12:28. > :12:34.high bar work. He had ever thing in there, Kovac, Tkachev, this is the
:12:35. > :12:38.best Tkachev half turn being done in the world because he makes the half
:12:39. > :12:43.turn before catching the bar and the lines throughout, there you can see,
:12:44. > :12:49.half turn, and he's about horizontal and he's already made the turn, I
:12:50. > :12:53.don't like to see gymnasts catching in the mixed grip and letting the
:12:54. > :13:01.bar turn them at the bottom. That was fantastic. What a way to finish.
:13:02. > :13:22.So, Italy over on the rings. This is his strongest piece of
:13:23. > :13:30.apparatus, if you will pardon the pun. Italy have had generations of
:13:31. > :13:42.strong gymnasts on the rings, going back to the very famous Uri Keki.
:13:43. > :13:51.There is the Maltese. Into the layout. Swing to inverter. Double
:13:52. > :14:05.pike, double tuck. Straight to the top planche. Clean, efficient.
:14:06. > :14:12.Circle to crucifix. Kip To crucifix. Swings into the handstand. Slight
:14:13. > :14:16.adjustment. Got to fix the rings. Double double. Slight adjustment on
:14:17. > :14:24.landing. That was good work from the Italian. Keeping up the tradition of
:14:25. > :14:31.Italian rings workers, that was very nice work. Smooth, very smooth.
:14:32. > :14:36.Italy down the second half of the competition.
:14:37. > :14:43.That should have been over 15. Definitely. He was robbed. He
:14:44. > :14:50.thought the same and you could see it on his face! Kristian Thomas, he
:14:51. > :14:55.has qualified first for the high bar final and with a similar score,
:14:56. > :15:00.actually the same as Nile Wilson but the execution and difficulty was
:15:01. > :15:05.slightly different. Kristian Thomas, the last gymnast to go for Great
:15:06. > :15:10.Britain in the men's team final. He is a Paul gymnast. He almost sweeps
:15:11. > :15:25.the floor. That was a super Tkachev with full turn. Very unusual.
:15:26. > :15:38.And the Stolder with one and half. This location. That was a lovely
:15:39. > :15:47.shape. Tkachev with a half turn. Very smoothly out. This is a big
:15:48. > :15:52.routine. Full pirouette. He changes the swing and lifts up high and he
:15:53. > :15:57.puts the fall twist in. Perfect landing, Kristian Thomas has led
:15:58. > :16:02.this team. Fantastic. Gold or silver, they've really won today.
:16:03. > :16:07.There he is, there he is, doing what Kristian Thomas does best, he has
:16:08. > :16:12.definitely landed on a team medal there. It wasn't just clean as we
:16:13. > :16:20.know it can be, but obviously under that pressure. Yet again a brilliant
:16:21. > :16:24.Tkachev with a half turn. We really do maths that skill within Britain.
:16:25. > :16:33.And then high into the arena for the full twisting double back.
:16:34. > :16:40.Has landings today, he just seems to know what he needs to do and when to
:16:41. > :16:47.do it, Dan. Weaving no run for deductions and that is what you want
:16:48. > :16:53.from your captain. 14.93, for the Italians. But they train every day.
:16:54. > :16:59.Every afternoon. Landings... Yes, and you can gain so much in wins for
:17:00. > :17:03.the team are the six pieces and that is what we have really concentrated
:17:04. > :17:07.on the last couple of years. Great Britain can do no more. They have
:17:08. > :17:14.gone all the way around, everything goal-scorer. Three scores and every
:17:15. > :17:21.single one of them has delivered -- every single score. They just have
:17:22. > :17:35.to sit and wait, and what Russia on high bar. -- watch Russia. Well,
:17:36. > :17:40.this has been a fantastic tussle to watch, and you know that Russia
:17:41. > :17:44.still have to stick three people up and go clean. I have to say the
:17:45. > :17:52.Russian team look much more secure than I have seen them look for a few
:17:53. > :17:59.years. Kristian, 14.233, that will do. I mean, yes, 15" the good. There
:18:00. > :18:07.were a few errors there, and obviously you will get deducted for
:18:08. > :18:17.that -- he was 15 in qualification. But look at that. Up on their
:18:18. > :18:29.qualification of 267, and you can't ask for much more than that. Well,
:18:30. > :18:35.the first gymnast Opera Russia. Three routines, every score counts
:18:36. > :18:40.-- up for Russia. I know we keep saying it but it is important. David
:18:41. > :18:43.Belyavskiy, qualified for the high bar final, fifth in the World
:18:44. > :18:49.Championships on this piece of apparatus a couple of years ago.
:18:50. > :18:55.This was actually there third-highest scoring peace
:18:56. > :19:01.importation. -- in qualification. Lovely one And Circle.
:19:02. > :19:12.Here comes the big release. The straddle, catcher over the bar, and
:19:13. > :19:23.again with the turn in the straddle position. Always a very stylish
:19:24. > :19:35.gymnast. That was a little late but he controlled it well. Into the
:19:36. > :19:41.Markelov. And this, the stain on swings, which I think he is the only
:19:42. > :19:48.gymnast to use -- Steinerman swings. Efficient work, very efficient
:19:49. > :19:55.routine. Balearics skied today, he has really impressed me, and Russia
:19:56. > :20:01.need an average of 14.38 here to take the gold -- David Belyavskiy
:20:02. > :20:07.has really impressed me. That was probably one of the most efficient
:20:08. > :20:16.high bar routines we have seen. Job to be done, got up there, times, in
:20:17. > :20:26.the right position, clean on the catch, under that pressure. He will
:20:27. > :20:31.be happy with today's work for sure -- turns, in the right position. And
:20:32. > :20:35.he should be. Great to see him now with a bit of maturity and
:20:36. > :20:40.confidence. He is starting to be able to show what a good gymnast he
:20:41. > :20:42.is. I was going to say, we have often gone to competitions and
:20:43. > :20:48.thought this guy could do a lot more. Maybe this is his year. What a
:20:49. > :20:52.time, going into the Olympics. Perhaps that has been in the back of
:20:53. > :21:00.his mind. That is the thing. We do not even know if he has peaked yet,
:21:01. > :21:05.14.733. He is on the rise, absolutely superb. Has worked every
:21:06. > :21:10.thing today? It will be interesting to see whether he is ahead of Nile.
:21:11. > :21:14.I am looking forward to watching tomorrow. Sometimes you just need
:21:15. > :21:17.that drive. If you do not have it internally or as an individual, but
:21:18. > :21:19.as soon as you get up there you're doing it for somebody else, and from
:21:20. > :21:24.a psychological perspective, that could really be what is just pushing
:21:25. > :21:29.him, David Belyavskiy, researchers and today. And I think they have
:21:30. > :21:41.thrived today with Team GB being one man down. Here is another gymnast
:21:42. > :21:49.that has done a team job today, Nikita Ignatyev, superb work. Full
:21:50. > :21:54.twisting, straight, then tucked. A lot of the gymnasts do this,
:21:55. > :21:57.straight and then tucked. Exciting work, the release and then
:21:58. > :22:06.recaptures. That is what makes the high bar such an exciting piece of
:22:07. > :22:10.apparatus -- re-catches. It looks like his legs are a lot of the time.
:22:11. > :22:17.That is the impression you get. His feet are together. The judges
:22:18. > :22:21.probably do not get the luxury of this view. Two twists, double
:22:22. > :22:28.straight, another good solid routine. They know they are on to do
:22:29. > :22:35.well. Scored the lowest of the team involved addition, 14.4033 and for
:22:36. > :22:39.me, yes, it looks a little sloppy in the legs, but maybe the judges
:22:40. > :22:45.cannot pick up from that view, I do not think we have the best view
:22:46. > :22:52.there of his routine. What pressure for the young Swiss. Benjamin
:22:53. > :22:57.Gischard, the second gymnast to go for Switzerland. One more after him
:22:58. > :23:08.and then the Swiss bid for a medal is over. Lovely high opening front
:23:09. > :23:18.somersault twist. Did he keep those tools in? -- toes. I did not see a
:23:19. > :23:23.flag. I didn't either. He really does run a long way. Very light,
:23:24. > :23:27.into the front somersault twist. So many of these gymnasts twist so
:23:28. > :23:47.fast, they are so efficient. And Switzerland have also qualified
:23:48. > :24:02.acting for Rio. These gymnasts will all be fighting for those places. --
:24:03. > :24:08.qualified a team for Rio. The very nice roll out. Whereas other
:24:09. > :24:13.gymnasts pack into McAfee tumbles in each run, his starting score, his
:24:14. > :24:22.difficulty score, will be a little less -- pack in two or three
:24:23. > :24:29.tumbles. Very well done. It is all down to Braegger now. They enjoy
:24:30. > :24:33.performing for the home crowd. There you go, the twist roll-out, not the
:24:34. > :24:39.same control were seen before. Steps up there, into the final. The triple
:24:40. > :24:45.twist. A little bit bouncy around the floor. They just need to hang
:24:46. > :25:08.on. Ignatyev scores 14.333 for Russia
:25:09. > :25:14.and one jam last less to go, and here he is -- one gymnast left to
:25:15. > :25:24.go. One of the best in the world. Very much so, and he twisted so nice
:25:25. > :25:32.and early, so that by easily. -- saw that bar. A little bit off line with
:25:33. > :25:35.the poets. The ten most difficult moves, and together for your
:25:36. > :25:44.difficulty score, he has done half a dozen already and now another one.
:25:45. > :25:53.The judges are deducting every move you do. Just tenths. This is
:25:54. > :25:59.swinging well, just need to be secure. He has held on. Needs this
:26:00. > :26:03.strongest... There it is! You can see it, as soon as he released. A
:26:04. > :26:09.great performance from the Russian team. They all know that is it. They
:26:10. > :26:14.are European champions again. We gained their title. And, you know
:26:15. > :26:19.what, just to see the happiness within that team and the team
:26:20. > :26:23.spirit, and the energy that is in there, I mean, that bodes very well
:26:24. > :26:28.for them as far as Rio is concerned. They will know Great Britain are
:26:29. > :26:34.without a certain Max Wilcock. -- Max Whitlock. For me you can see
:26:35. > :26:41.there is room to improve as well. There are a few errors in there,
:26:42. > :26:45.just little bits here and there, catching, maybe, armbands. But, yes,
:26:46. > :26:47.a super job, and they have really capitalised on the fact that Team GB
:26:48. > :27:16.were missing Max today -- arm bends. 15.06 X for Gobaux. One more to go
:27:17. > :27:21.and the chance for ceiling this bronze medal for this was false to
:27:22. > :27:31.one who got the bronze at last year's European Championships -- 15
:27:32. > :27:41..06 X. Very nice to start. A lovely clean landing. Double twisting,
:27:42. > :27:49.double back. Classy gymnast. Centimetre perfect. He has that
:27:50. > :28:08.natural class, the legs locked together the whole time.
:28:09. > :28:16.APPLAUSE Showing the attribute gymnast needs
:28:17. > :28:20.for a good floor routine. Control, dynamics, extension on the roll-out,
:28:21. > :28:26.you can see, as he met the floor. Extended his legs, and here we go,
:28:27. > :28:31.the triple twist, just a little shovel at the end, but that was a
:28:32. > :28:36.very good finish for Switzerland. It has to be enough, it has got to be
:28:37. > :28:41.enough. Surely, the crowd wanted to happen. Everybody wants it to
:28:42. > :28:45.happen. Go on, give them the bronze! -- little shuffle at the end. They
:28:46. > :28:50.feel they have certainly done their bit, and they have been a very
:28:51. > :29:02.impressive young team. They have indeed. They scored 14.933 in
:29:03. > :29:06.qualification and anywhere near that will be enough. You can see, just
:29:07. > :29:10.look at it. That is not just one year of hard work, that is maybe ten
:29:11. > :29:20.years of hard work, and that is so nice to see. Well, they wowed us at
:29:21. > :29:23.the World Championship, Switzerland, they have booked their place for
:29:24. > :29:33.Rio, this is a very good build-up towards it and this is a young team.
:29:34. > :29:41.The eldest out there today is 22. Came up through the junior ranks in
:29:42. > :29:47.the last cycle. There is the final pass, the twist. Not the tidiest of
:29:48. > :29:52.landings, but as long as he is on his feet, that will be good enough.
:29:53. > :29:58.There is confirmation, then, that Russia are, again, European team
:29:59. > :30:04.champions, with a total score of 271. Goodness me, what a wonderful
:30:05. > :30:09.team on petition they have had. The camaraderie, the energy they went
:30:10. > :30:12.round with at the start, it was such a powerful performance they put out
:30:13. > :30:17.on floor and they just did not stop from there and it built and built --
:30:18. > :30:23.team competition. Britain held onto their coat-tails, but without Max
:30:24. > :30:26.Whitlock, top all-rounder gymnast, what a competition from Great
:30:27. > :30:32.Britain. My word, that sends out a message to the rest of the world.
:30:33. > :30:39.And there we can see Switzerland, confirmation of the bronze. 263.2
:30:40. > :30:42.78. Fantastic performance by them in front of a home crowd. It really
:30:43. > :31:03.lifted the arena. And lots of celebrations. From all
:31:04. > :31:13.of the teams. It's been a great team final here. There will be plenty of
:31:14. > :31:19.celebrating in Switzerland tonight. That was a truly well-deserved
:31:20. > :31:28.bronze medal. And also that was a fantastic job to capitalise on the
:31:29. > :31:35.fact that GB had their best man at home. Another superb performance
:31:36. > :31:40.from Team GB, picking up silver. When you think two days of
:31:41. > :31:44.competition and not a single fall, that is all you would ever ask for
:31:45. > :31:48.as a coach. Whatever will be will be with a result like that but I think
:31:49. > :31:52.the British guys should be very pleased with their performances.
:31:53. > :31:56.They took it to the wire with the Russian team. And I think we've seen
:31:57. > :32:05.a couple of outstanding performances today as well. Courtney Tulloch's
:32:06. > :32:08.rings, Nile Wilson's parallel bars, two pieces that Great Britain have
:32:09. > :32:15.not historically been fantastically strong on. It is really showing
:32:16. > :32:21.progress. Let's not forget Kristian Thomas's superb double pike. There
:32:22. > :32:27.is confirmation of the scores. Russian Federation take the gold
:32:28. > :32:30.medal with 271. Ahead of Great Britain with a silver and quite a
:32:31. > :32:37.long way ahead of the bronze medallists, Switzerland. Ukraine
:32:38. > :32:46.have to be satisfied with four. Germany in fifth. Now we are going
:32:47. > :32:51.to see how the junior men performed yesterday in a big battle with
:32:52. > :32:57.Russia. Three days of qualification. And Dave has been out there in Bern
:32:58. > :33:04.with them. Objective number one for the junior men was a fifth straight
:33:05. > :33:10.team title. It was tight and tense but in the last routine Joe Fraser
:33:11. > :33:15.showed his mettle to beat Russia to the gold medal. It was really close
:33:16. > :33:19.with Russia the whole way. To pull off that routine under that amount
:33:20. > :33:25.of pressure, it was unbelievable. I didn't know how to react. And when I
:33:26. > :33:29.came down to my team, it was the best experience I could have hoped
:33:30. > :33:37.for. Team gold in the bag and could there be more in the all round?
:33:38. > :33:41.Reggie Moran led the British charge. The Team GB Champion leading the
:33:42. > :33:44.way. He excelled on the pommel horse but wobbled on the parallel bars.
:33:45. > :33:59.Fraser got a bronze. Reggie he led from start to finish. The
:34:00. > :34:06.gold for him. Could he be off to Rio too. I am happy that all of the hard
:34:07. > :34:11.work has paid off. Is it ridiculous that you could be in with a chance
:34:12. > :34:15.of going to Rio? I won the European Championships and I'm doing really
:34:16. > :34:18.well on vault and floor, it comes down to Sunday, if I do well in the
:34:19. > :34:34.finals there could be a possibility. Well, they're certainly could be a
:34:35. > :34:38.possibility for Gianni. It's quite harsh in the world gymnastics
:34:39. > :34:43.because you only get five to go as far as Rio is concerned, but there
:34:44. > :34:46.will be a travelling reserve and you will have to choose a gymnast that
:34:47. > :34:50.could fit in anywhere because you obviously don't know who will be
:34:51. > :34:53.injured. It is a very tough decision and I would not want to be the
:34:54. > :34:58.selectors but the men's team. Christine said earlier that there
:34:59. > :35:03.are five out there at the Europeans but we have another five or six sat
:35:04. > :35:08.at home training and wanting to pick up that spot and obviously Gianni
:35:09. > :35:11.has done himself no harm. Looking at his vaults from qualification he
:35:12. > :35:15.would have been third at the World Championships last year. Dan, you
:35:16. > :35:20.have been mightily impressed with him in the Jim? Yes, he's got a good
:35:21. > :35:25.head on his shoulders and he's a good competitor and he trains well,
:35:26. > :35:29.talent and hard work, that is what you need to be a champion and he's
:35:30. > :35:33.got a bright future. You know what it's like to have a successful
:35:34. > :35:36.junior career and then start competing in the senior world, but
:35:37. > :35:41.that is what he has not had experience with. Is it too much of a
:35:42. > :35:46.risk to say, go out and see what happens? It will be in trusting
:35:47. > :35:50.dizzy how he does in the trials, he turns senior after this competition
:35:51. > :35:56.so there are still a few trials and he will take part and if he places
:35:57. > :36:05.in the top view there is always a chance. How does the selection go
:36:06. > :36:10.from here until Rio? There is the London open which will be one of the
:36:11. > :36:16.biggest selections for Rio. Then there will be a lot of in-house
:36:17. > :36:24.competitions at Lelia sure. That is the National sports centre. There
:36:25. > :36:29.will be quite a few to make sure that we can see who is best.
:36:30. > :36:33.Courtney Tulloch, obviously Max was being protected so he was not
:36:34. > :36:36.competing at the European Championships. It gave Courtney the
:36:37. > :36:45.opportunity to work the rings and parallel bars. We spoke pretty much
:36:46. > :36:48.after this. So impressive. It is. He was the last-minute call-up
:36:49. > :36:52.obviously to protect Max, but that doesn't take away from it, the
:36:53. > :36:56.performance that he did today was one of the best performances I've
:36:57. > :37:00.ever seen him do and doing it in a team final where you know you're up
:37:01. > :37:06.against Russia, and coming away with a 15.7, the highest score posted, is
:37:07. > :37:10.just incredible. You know, you mentioned it in the commentary, it
:37:11. > :37:27.is kind of expected now, you go out there with this kind of
:37:28. > :37:31.air of confidence and Courtney goes out and he looks like he should have
:37:32. > :37:34.been there for years. Yes, and he still only young, and he's in the
:37:35. > :37:37.rings final. With a score like today that could put him in with a chance
:37:38. > :37:39.of a medal. It will be interesting to see how he does. Confidence runs
:37:40. > :37:42.through the whole team and were on top of the world at the minute. He
:37:43. > :37:45.has a twin brother but he is massive, Kortney Hause all of the
:37:46. > :37:48.power and his twin brother James... I can see that the gymnasts will be
:37:49. > :37:52.coming out for the medal ceremony very soon. But just a word on
:37:53. > :37:56.Russia. And what you thought about their performance today. There was a
:37:57. > :38:04.happiness to their gymnastics? As soon as they walked out they looked
:38:05. > :38:08.really relaxed. He was the leader, David Belyavskiy. Normally he is
:38:09. > :38:13.quite nervous OTC and very settled and he settled the whole team and
:38:14. > :38:21.they looked so stylish. -- normally he is quite nervous. After that
:38:22. > :38:24.performance they went through every routine possible and have come
:38:25. > :38:28.second and you could see that they looked pretty disappointed but
:38:29. > :38:32.Russia were just superb today. You know what it's like to try to
:38:33. > :38:38.maintain that composure and six pieces, the women do four, it is a
:38:39. > :38:42.long way round to do six? Obviously Nile went out today and did all six
:38:43. > :38:47.and picking up that squad on the parallel bars, and he's not even in
:38:48. > :38:52.the parallel bar final, there is so much talent and depth and strength.
:38:53. > :38:56.For all of these spectators there, we remember what it was like when
:38:57. > :39:01.Great Britain started winning medals, it was like oh my word! This
:39:02. > :39:06.is it. Switzerland must be feeling that way with their bronze medal
:39:07. > :39:10.today? It's been a long time since they competed with the top boys. And
:39:11. > :39:14.doing it in front of a home crowd as well, getting on the podium, an
:39:15. > :39:19.amazing result and it shows the hardware they've been putting in. We
:39:20. > :39:28.will hand back to the commentary box with Christine and Craig so that the
:39:29. > :39:39.gymnasts can receive their medals. Here we are.
:39:40. > :39:46.Bronze medallists at the European Championships, Switzerland, in front
:39:47. > :39:53.of their home crowd, absolutely delighted with their performance.
:39:54. > :40:01.They qualified in third place, they managed to repeat that performance
:40:02. > :40:05.today. A very young team. The eldest is 22. For all of them this will be
:40:06. > :40:19.a first chance to go to the Olympics later in the year. In second place
:40:20. > :40:23.and winner of the Silver medal... Great Britain! And a silver medal
:40:24. > :40:33.for Great Britain, very experienced team. They performed virtually
:40:34. > :40:35.faultlessly. Without the British champion, Max Whitlock, who is a bit
:40:36. > :40:42.under the weather and staying at home to recover. That gave the
:40:43. > :40:46.opportunity for some of the youngsters to come out here, and
:40:47. > :40:57.they have really thrilled us with their performances. The winner of
:40:58. > :41:07.the gold medal and the European champion 2016...
:41:08. > :41:14.The Russian Federation! And the Russian Federation take the gold
:41:15. > :41:18.medal, they too worked without major error today. Which is something we
:41:19. > :41:23.haven't seen for quite a while from them. They came out right from the
:41:24. > :41:28.very beginning. Full of determination. They are always full
:41:29. > :41:39.of style. They really made this an exciting competition.
:41:40. > :41:44.They had to take second place in the juniors to Great Britain but they
:41:45. > :41:48.have reversed that today. Real team spirit there, all of these teams, in
:41:49. > :42:19.preparation for the Rio Olympics. And the medals, presented to the
:42:20. > :42:27.teams, a really fantastic competition. And the start of what
:42:28. > :42:32.will be a fantastic season for gymnastics. Superb competition.
:42:33. > :42:37.Switzerland taking the bronze. Slightly down on qualification. The
:42:38. > :42:42.interesting fact is that GB improved by nearly 1.5 marks. Today's
:42:43. > :42:45.competition was all about the Russian Federation. They dominated
:42:46. > :42:58.the competition from start to finish. Improving by a massive four
:42:59. > :43:02.and a half marks. It does bode well for an interesting summer of
:43:03. > :43:15.gymnastics. When GB are there with the full force of their team.
:43:16. > :43:22.So, Great Britain that takes silver in the men's team final. You can
:43:23. > :43:29.join us tomorrow on BBC Two at half past three. There you are. That is
:43:30. > :43:34.not in Northern Ireland. That's all we've got time for, from all of the
:43:35. > :43:38.team here and the silver medal winners out in Bern, it's goodbye.
