:00:51. > :00:57.Hello and welcome to the third day of finals from the world gymnastics

:00:58. > :01:02.Championships here in Glasgow. Last night the men took to this arena for

:01:03. > :01:09.the battle of world team champions. What a competition we witnessed.

:01:10. > :01:15.Japan took gold for the first time in 37 years. Great Britain just four

:01:16. > :01:21.tenths behind them, winning an historic silver medal, beating the

:01:22. > :01:28.Chinese. Here's a reminder of the British team's sterling effort, blow

:01:29. > :01:35.by blow. We say pretty much go for it. Not even thinking about the

:01:36. > :01:40.medals. It was such an intense competition. The interest on the

:01:41. > :01:51.more horse, it was my moment to do my job. -- on the more horse. We

:01:52. > :02:00.were relentless as a team. It was a case of putting our arms up. We

:02:01. > :02:05.delivered. It's just incredible. Under a lot of pressure, first world

:02:06. > :02:09.championship. I think I was more nervous watching Macs than I was

:02:10. > :02:14.doing my own job. I remember standing in the corner, put my arms

:02:15. > :02:22.out. I thought, this is crazy. -- watching Max. There was constant

:02:23. > :02:29.noise, a roar, which I enjoyed. Great Britain are the

:02:30. > :02:32.silver-medallists. We can sit back and be proud of what we've achieved.

:02:33. > :02:38.To have the competition we did, literally perfect. A group of very

:02:39. > :02:46.good friends, it means a lot. It was a special moment, I'm so proud to be

:02:47. > :02:50.part of it. What an upset it was for the Chinese team that has dominated

:02:51. > :02:54.this final for the last ten years. The upset wasn't just because they

:02:55. > :02:59.were beaten by five times runner-up Japan, but to be beaten by Great

:03:00. > :03:06.Britain. It really puts things into perspective when you see it like

:03:07. > :03:10.this. Joining me to reflect on last night's action I'm joined by three

:03:11. > :03:14.times world champion at treble and current British gymnast and

:03:15. > :03:19.silver-medallist Dan Keating is. Let's start with you, how surprised

:03:20. > :03:26.where you and the rest of the British team that you got that medal

:03:27. > :03:30.last night? -- Keatings. We were surprised to get silver, but we were

:03:31. > :03:34.working towards bronze. Getting bronze at the Olympics in stills

:03:35. > :03:38.believe in the British team. The next thing was to replicate it at

:03:39. > :03:41.World Championships, our training and build-up has been going towards

:03:42. > :03:45.fighting for the bronze medal, we didn't expect to get that silver.

:03:46. > :03:50.Over the years you've been chasing countries like Russia and the USA,

:03:51. > :03:54.now here we are battling alongside China and Japan. What does it mean

:03:55. > :03:59.going ahead to the Olympic Games next year? It gives us a massive

:04:00. > :04:04.confidence boost, over the last ten years we've been working to try and

:04:05. > :04:07.catch the likes of Russia and USA. Now we've finally got there we

:04:08. > :04:13.thought it might be another ten years before we start to catch China

:04:14. > :04:17.and Japan, but the showing be put in yesterday, we beat China and weren't

:04:18. > :04:21.that far behind Japan. In the index next year anything can happen. What

:04:22. > :04:25.the men and women have achieved here over the last few days has got

:04:26. > :04:30.everybody talking. If they have inspired you, all you have to do is

:04:31. > :04:34.head to the BBC website, you can get loads of information, not just

:04:35. > :04:37.gymnastics, all sorts of sport you can get involved in. Maybe there is

:04:38. > :04:40.little trip down memory lane may help to get you inspired. -- maybe

:04:41. > :04:46.this little trip. You are looking at one of the

:04:47. > :05:00.greatest gymnasts ever. And that must have earned good

:05:01. > :05:07.points. That's the sort of applause that she deserves.

:05:08. > :05:20.She's got ten. And it looked that good. Ten she's got, it is quite

:05:21. > :05:34.incredible. The title is hers. Svetlana, one of

:05:35. > :05:43.the great Russian gymnasts. Phenomenal performance, she's this

:05:44. > :05:46.World Championships. Beth, can you believe how much the sport has moved

:05:47. > :05:51.on in a relatively short space of time? When you see those pictures.

:05:52. > :05:55.It's really short, I was talking with Daniel yesterday, even the

:05:56. > :05:58.first tuck back you think how young our sport is, even when the first

:05:59. > :06:02.track back was done on the beam, they wanted to ban it, they thought

:06:03. > :06:07.it was too dangerous for female gymnasts to do. Some of the thing

:06:08. > :06:10.these female gymnasts are doing, even since I've retired, the floor

:06:11. > :06:16.work especially has dramatically increased. Is it to do with the

:06:17. > :06:17.equipment? The equipment helps, but the techniques, the support behind

:06:18. > :06:26.the scenes, the expertise of the coaches coaching

:06:27. > :06:29.these gymnasts. expertise of the coaches coaching

:06:30. > :06:35.together is producing what we're expertise of the coaches coaching

:06:36. > :06:38.gymnastics today. Even with foam pits, training aids, the

:06:39. > :06:40.gymnastics today. Even with foam are taught, even though it looks

:06:41. > :06:43.incredibly dangerous, the way these moves are taught, it reduces the

:06:44. > :06:54.risk, moves are taught, it reduces the

:06:55. > :06:58.have falls. When it's done under moves are taught, it reduces the

:06:59. > :07:03.injury, you are likely to go for these big skills. Let's talk about

:07:04. > :07:09.the women's all-around competition. And how it works. It's all about the

:07:10. > :07:13.all-round gymnast. Four pieces of apparatus and the Scott Mills. Each

:07:14. > :07:16.gymnast will have to do each of the four apparatus and the scores add

:07:17. > :07:21.up, if they have a mistake on one piece, they can bring themselves

:07:22. > :07:23.back into the competition if they fight for every point. In

:07:24. > :07:25.back into the competition if they competition, Simone Biles is going

:07:26. > :07:31.to lead the whole way round but the pressure is on her. It's hers to

:07:32. > :07:37.lose. As we saw in B Team final, gold is taken, then it's a battle

:07:38. > :07:41.for silver and bronze. -- as we saw in the team final. Time moves on,

:07:42. > :07:45.people grow up, after 39 years, David McDaid has caught up with the

:07:46. > :07:50.Queen of the perfect ten we saw in that last film. Nadia,

:07:51. > :08:03.I was born in a pretty small town, I studied gymnastics when I was six

:08:04. > :08:08.and a half. I started to do it because I had a lot of energy and my

:08:09. > :08:14.mum found out about this place where I can do things that I couldn't do

:08:15. > :08:20.at home, which is breaking the furniture, other things that

:08:21. > :08:21.probably a lot of kids do today. We all thought it's going to be

:08:22. > :08:28.temporarily. all thought it's going to be

:08:29. > :08:34.that. Have you seen anyone more confident on a 4 inch beam? I was

:08:35. > :08:38.asked by journalists, what do you think you are going to do? I said,

:08:39. > :08:43.asked by journalists, what do you would like to win a medal in the

:08:44. > :08:48.Olympics, if it's possible, gold. My expectations were not that good. Ten

:08:49. > :08:53.she's got, it's quite incredible. I think that's the tent that changed

:08:54. > :09:01.my life and the history of the sport. -- ten. Nobody expected

:09:02. > :09:07.my life and the history of the They were not well prepared for that

:09:08. > :09:11.school. She's got it again! Britton not prepared for the score.

:09:12. > :09:16.Everybody is interested to see the Americans now, there is one

:09:17. > :09:23.spectacular gymnast, Simone Biles, who can do amazing gymnastics. I

:09:24. > :09:30.think gymnastics is... It has changed a lot and it is exciting to

:09:31. > :09:34.watch it. I'm happy to see a lot of other countries that we didn't think

:09:35. > :09:40.about at the time I was competing, they are striving to be a part of

:09:41. > :09:42.the common you know, the best in the world. I think this is great for the

:09:43. > :09:52.sport. We heard Nadia talking about Simone

:09:53. > :09:55.Biles, as far as qualification is concerned, she is streets ahead of

:09:56. > :09:59.the rest of the world. Let's talk about that placing for second and

:10:00. > :10:06.third. And where we think it'll come from. You hope, don't you, for the

:10:07. > :10:10.European all-round champion today. It's a perfect opportunity for

:10:11. > :10:13.Steingruber to step up to the mark. She has looked so solid. She's

:10:14. > :10:19.really improved with her gymnastics. She always had the skills, maybe the

:10:20. > :10:22.consistency wasn't quite there. At this year's European Championships

:10:23. > :10:27.she took the all-around title. She was unbelievable. I really hope she

:10:28. > :10:32.can follow it through at these championships. She'll have a lot of

:10:33. > :10:36.competition, the Chinese had a tough time in qualification. But she's

:10:37. > :10:40.coming through. The current Olympic champion, who has taken a couple of

:10:41. > :10:44.years out, but has taken the world by storm. This is her first

:10:45. > :10:48.competition outside America since London 2012.

:10:49. > :10:53.It's different from competing in your home country, not as much

:10:54. > :10:56.pressure to be on the world scene. It's a talking point of the

:10:57. > :11:01.competition to have the current Olympic champion and double world

:11:02. > :11:07.champion going head-to-head. The gymnast that got silver in the last

:11:08. > :11:13.World Championship had a shocking qualification, she only had one

:11:14. > :11:16.score above the 13s, Iordache. She didn't have a great qualification,

:11:17. > :11:19.didn't look happy, she started on the floor, downgraded her routine

:11:20. > :11:25.because she was struggling with the first tumble. Interesting to see

:11:26. > :11:32.whether she put it back into night. Vault was fine, but she fell on the

:11:33. > :11:40.bar and beam. Romania have had a bad championship. The Chinese gymnast

:11:41. > :11:49.faltered in altercation, but if she hits... She can be up in the medals.

:11:50. > :11:57.Look at the team performance couple of days ago, she put in some amazing

:11:58. > :12:02.scores. Chunsong Shang. Who would you put your money on? Can I say

:12:03. > :12:06.what I'd like it to be? Definitely Simone Biles, then I want it to be

:12:07. > :12:15.Steingruber. Then it'll be the Chinese or Gabby. Are you going to

:12:16. > :12:21.say? I'm going to say China. America one and two, China in third

:12:22. > :12:24.position. Let's catch up with the condition, it's been going on for a

:12:25. > :12:29.little while, we'll give you an idea which gymnasts are starting where.

:12:30. > :12:38.In the first rotation, you we go, the USA and Russia. They are

:12:39. > :12:49.starting on Vault. We'll bring them to you now. On Uneven Bars, Japan

:12:50. > :12:58.and Germany. And on the beam... Iordache on the beam. Jurca on the

:12:59. > :13:02.floor. Top group there, the second group on Uneven Bars, then you've

:13:03. > :13:05.got beam and the fourth group working on the floor. Mitch Fenner

:13:06. > :13:11.and Christine still in the commentary box.

:13:12. > :13:25.COMMENTATOR: The Olympic champion, Gabrielle Douglas, fixed the flaw in

:13:26. > :13:27.this women's all-around final. Four pieces of apparatus, this is the

:13:28. > :13:37.first. Starts pieces of apparatus, this is the

:13:38. > :13:52.relatively straightforward Vault. Beautifully performed. Flips on,

:13:53. > :13:56.lovely straight arms, wraps those two twists in. A good landing. The

:13:57. > :14:04.score for Gabrielle Douglas is 15.3, exactly the same as she got in

:14:05. > :14:09.qualifying. Ruby Harrold of Britain starts her bed in this women's

:14:10. > :14:19.all-round, starting on the bars. Ruby Harrold.

:14:20. > :14:31.Started for the team on this apparatus. Two nights ago. Very

:14:32. > :14:36.nicely performed. This is very original, the half turned, feet

:14:37. > :14:43.through. Into the handstand. Straight into the full pirouette.

:14:44. > :14:50.Super handstand shapes, she lifts high, up to the high bar. Half a

:14:51. > :14:54.turn. You comes the release... Front somersault, caught on beautifully

:14:55. > :15:00.straight arms. She hops up, double turn, nicely performed. A great

:15:01. > :15:09.opener from Ruby. Ruby Harrold is looking good. In her opening bid.

:15:10. > :15:24.Looking good with her opening bid. Giulia Steingruber to the vault.

:15:25. > :15:36.Beautifully done. She kicks it out beautifully. So clean and easy.

:15:37. > :15:44.There is the front somersault, 1.5 twists. Looks so easy. She kept the

:15:45. > :15:52.body virtually straight all the way through. A very difficult vault.

:15:53. > :15:59.Slightly to one side. Great attack. Great propulsion from the top. 1.5

:16:00. > :16:27.twists. Easy as you like. Hi and clean. Her best apparatus. You won't

:16:28. > :16:54.be surprised to know that. Score for Ruby Harrold. 14.533. The score for

:16:55. > :17:07.Giulia Steingruber, a very healthy looking 15.6. Simone Biles. Opens

:17:08. > :17:12.her bid to defend her World Championship. You can't do it much

:17:13. > :17:27.better than that. Just a pace forwards but it was so high and

:17:28. > :17:33.long. She attacks this and just flies into the air. Absolutely down

:17:34. > :17:46.the centre. You have to try and stay on that red line. Could vault.

:17:47. > :18:04.Really beautifully central. 6.3 tariff. The score for Simone Biles,

:18:05. > :18:16.an incredible 15.833. Seda Tutkhalian from Russia. A little bit

:18:17. > :18:22.unsettled on landing. Round off, click onto the horse, double twist.

:18:23. > :18:36.Not a great deal of height. She had to scuttle a little bit. The score

:18:37. > :18:49.for Seda Tutkhalian, 14.866. Shang Chunsong Shang on what traditionally

:18:50. > :18:59.has been a great piece of apparatus for the Chinese. Certainly, in the

:19:00. > :19:10.team final, they nailed this piece. Watch this first.

:19:11. > :19:14.team final, they nailed this piece. pike Tkatchev. Into the Gienger.

:19:15. > :19:22.Really packing the difficulty in. pike Tkatchev. Into the Gienger.

:19:23. > :19:28.The Chinese very good at these swinging pirouettes. Into the big

:19:29. > :19:35.front somersault. A bit of a stumble on the turn but recovered well. A

:19:36. > :19:51.super high double-twisting back somersault dismount. Kelly --

:19:52. > :19:55.Elsabeth Black from Canada. A little skip from the start. Translates

:19:56. > :20:10.beautifully. Very clean, very efficient. There is the somersault

:20:11. > :20:24.and there is that full twist. Right, bang down the middle. Elsabeth Black

:20:25. > :20:39.scored 15.0334 that fault. Chunsong Shang scored 15.1 bars. Second

:20:40. > :20:45.all-around last year in the World Championship. Didn't have a happy

:20:46. > :20:50.qualification. We'll be very keen to do best here. That's very good

:20:51. > :21:01.indeed. Full twisting Tuck back to start with. Super. Straight back as

:21:02. > :21:15.well. She has wonderful rhythm on the beam. Very clean in the double

:21:16. > :21:22.spin. Iordache had a year of injury. Just back to competition fitness.

:21:23. > :21:28.Two very nice leaps. The judges have a lot of marks to give. For

:21:29. > :21:34.shortness of performance and good rhythm. This has much better rhythm

:21:35. > :21:44.than a lot of the routines we have seen. Constant movement. Cider

:21:45. > :21:56.somersault. So, just the dismount to go. The round-off. The backflip,

:21:57. > :22:03.triple twist. My favourite dismount of all. Wonderful to see her back

:22:04. > :22:10.confidently performing. Very confident indeed. Super work. That's

:22:11. > :22:19.a skill that she needs to nail to give a good performance. Once that's

:22:20. > :22:35.happened, she is quite confident. Her score, 14.766. For Great

:22:36. > :22:44.Britain, Amy Tinkler. Very nice handstand start. Full pirouette.

:22:45. > :22:46.That was excellent. She went straight into the very difficult

:22:47. > :22:54.move. She made it very cleanly indeed. Good half term, a difficult

:22:55. > :23:01.release coming. She just went a little bit wild stop the half turn

:23:02. > :23:07.and struggle back. She almost got the hands over but if you don't get

:23:08. > :23:17.them right over, you can't hang on. That was a shame. Up to the

:23:18. > :23:38.handstand, really got is to go. A beautiful double-twisting back. What

:23:39. > :23:45.a shame. There the Marco -- she just let it go in the end. But she got it

:23:46. > :24:03.back together at the end. A beautiful double-twisting back.

:24:04. > :24:07.Leading after the first piece of apparatus, Simone Biles going for

:24:08. > :24:15.her third consecutive all-around title. Giulia Steingruber in second.

:24:16. > :24:23.Gabrielle Douglas in third with Chunsong Shang in fourth. You can

:24:24. > :24:29.see quite a few gymnasts from the same country. Two from each are

:24:30. > :24:35.allowed in the top 24. If there was three it goes down to the next in

:24:36. > :24:41.the 24. We had three, LE unfortunately missed out because the

:24:42. > :24:47.other girls were echoed of her. To confirm, Amy Tinkler is in 21st.

:24:48. > :25:01.Back to the commentary box and we are now live. COMMENTATOR: A

:25:02. > :25:16.beautiful display. A superhigh Gienger. Just a touch a late on the

:25:17. > :25:21.pirouette. A big split of the legs to learn. Not the classiest routine

:25:22. > :25:28.but quite efficient. Certainly attacks the apparatus. Famed for her

:25:29. > :25:45.vaulting but she is a good all-rounder. The European all-around

:25:46. > :26:01.champion this year. The score for Lisa Verschueren from Belgian. Asuka

:26:02. > :26:09.Teramoto on the vault for Japan. Oh yes. Handspring, straight front with

:26:10. > :26:19.1.5 twists. Really nicely performed vault. She was sharp, wasn't she?

:26:20. > :26:25.The approach run from this. Sharp off the top of a horse. Nice and

:26:26. > :26:32.punchy in the twist. She is one of the more experienced gymnasts out

:26:33. > :26:38.there. In this cauldron it is seeming that the experience is

:26:39. > :26:45.counting for a lot. It is packed to the rafters, can't see a spare seat.

:26:46. > :26:58.The atmosphere is tremendous. They can see the difficulty of the vault.

:26:59. > :27:03.Standing by his Giulia Steingruber. That's a good score for her bars.

:27:04. > :27:11.You can see the relief on her face. STUDIO: All eyes now on this young

:27:12. > :27:23.lady, Simone Biles from the USA. This, believe it or not, her least

:27:24. > :27:28.favourite piece of apparatus. The only apparatus she didn't finish top

:27:29. > :27:36.on. But that was very efficient. A very good full pirouette into a huge

:27:37. > :27:45.Tkachev. She hasn't got such a high start score but that was nice. Full

:27:46. > :27:53.Tkachev followed by a high salt over. Straight into the full

:27:54. > :28:00.twisting double back. She didn't give much away there. She may not

:28:01. > :28:06.have enjoyed it but we did. Absolutely. Such power in her. The

:28:07. > :28:12.landing spot on. Good handstand shape. If this is her least

:28:13. > :28:28.favourite, goodness help the rest of the field. Look at this dismount.

:28:29. > :28:35.One did beautifully. Speaking of the dismount, 13.366. If you would like

:28:36. > :28:42.to join us for more chat, we can do later on the red button. Amy Tinkler

:28:43. > :28:49.with her second piece. Amy with a little bit to do. After a mistake on

:28:50. > :28:59.the bars. That was cleanly through. A very difficult lead. Now, an

:29:00. > :29:04.interesting combination. That was a shame. She is Israeli a little

:29:05. > :29:15.unsettled. So secure in the team competitions. -- she is really a

:29:16. > :29:18.little unsettled. The team now a bit weary. That was good, the change

:29:19. > :29:33.leading into the sea zone. She has settled herself down very

:29:34. > :29:43.nicely indeed. She performs that very well indeed, confident Tuck

:29:44. > :29:45.back. Hits her read them again now. Three cartwheels. She had to fight

:29:46. > :29:59.there, but fight she did. All of the gymnasts have do have

:30:00. > :30:07.sideways elements of dance, there we saw it from Amy. She has a very

:30:08. > :30:13.impressive dismount. Let's hope she concentrates and makes this.

:30:14. > :30:17.Superhigh triple twists. What a lot of class. With her dismount she's

:30:27. > :30:52.She's already 1.2 ahead of Giulia surprised. Simone Biles, 14.9.

:30:53. > :31:11.Very good, efficient. She's Steingruber. Seda Tutkhalian.

:31:12. > :31:15.Very good, efficient. She's right that time. The full

:31:16. > :31:26.Very good, efficient. She's the catch. Keeping with. Keeping

:31:27. > :31:34.control. Double front to land, very clean, tiny adjustment. She was

:31:35. > :31:39.sixth going into this piece, so keep an eye on her. She didn't Vault

:31:40. > :31:48.fantastically well. All of the younger gymnasts,

:31:49. > :31:53.fantastically well. All of the mind, did it for the team. She

:31:55. > :31:56.whatever happens, I'm a 1 of thing earlier, she said

:31:57. > :31:59.of all the gymnast a 1 of thing earlier, she said

:32:00. > :32:04.have that mentality going into this competition. They are probably quite

:32:05. > :32:14.They love the team to drained by now. This is one

:32:15. > :32:19.They love the team to they, these gymnasts? This has

:32:20. > :32:31.Just one twist. Very clean and really been about qualifying

:32:32. > :32:36.Just one twist. Very clean and efficient. Seventh in the all-round

:32:37. > :32:56.at the Commonwealth Games efficient. Seventh in the all-round

:32:57. > :33:04.same. The tariff of the vault is one of the big things that separates the

:33:05. > :33:24.gymnasts out. 14.233. It's a good score.

:33:25. > :33:35.Lieke Wevers from She didn't compete for two years

:33:36. > :33:43.after a really bad injury on her leg, she tore her ACL. She qualified

:33:44. > :33:49.in fifth, a good all-round gymnast. Nice start.

:33:50. > :34:03.Clean in the handstand. Here comes the transfer. This is good work,

:34:04. > :34:13.it's flowing well. Got to make those handstands. Inverted swings nicely

:34:14. > :34:21.done. Into the double front, just a little bit overcooked. Well done,

:34:22. > :34:26.Lieke. She's done every thing she can just pay in the top five. What

:34:27. > :34:39.an accolade to be in the top five in this company. She's very modest.

:34:40. > :34:47.Working well. Yang for China. The Chinese champion.

:34:48. > :34:53.When they have socks on you know there will be a lot of spins in the

:34:54. > :35:06.routine. A big tumble to start, though. Super, really good landing.

:35:07. > :35:15.Very dramatic interpretation. 1.5 twists, walking out into the treble.

:35:16. > :35:21.So cleverly performed and choreographed.

:35:22. > :35:43.Ooh! Two and a half punch fronts, she didn't take off at all, she was

:35:44. > :36:06.leaning back as she met the floor. Strong leaps. The gymnasts are not

:36:07. > :36:11.allowed to stand on two feet in the corner, they have to go straight

:36:12. > :36:15.into the tumble. She's done that. Double pike, clearly landed. What a

:36:16. > :36:24.shame she mistimed that middle tumble. A shame about the sits down,

:36:25. > :36:27.really close, wasn't it? She was 11th going into this rotation, you

:36:28. > :36:31.get a feeling they are trying to chase too much, not settled, when

:36:32. > :36:45.you force it sometimes it doesn't happen in this sport.

:36:46. > :36:55.-- LE black. This will be a key piece for

:36:56. > :37:04.she qualified fourth, but had a mess. 13.733 she got on this piece.

:37:05. > :37:14.She will know this is a very important rotation for her. Lovely

:37:15. > :37:17.handstand position. Again. Nice Yeager.

:37:18. > :37:30.Lost form a little bit. Back online now.

:37:31. > :37:42.Nicely under control now. A lovely landing. What an improvement. Now

:37:43. > :37:45.she is half way round. She is, she had two of her big pieces. Last year

:37:46. > :37:52.at the Commonwealth Games she really didn't look fit and confident, but

:37:53. > :37:58.since then, this year, she's won the Pan Am games and really looks a

:37:59. > :38:04.different gymnast. Jurca for remaining up on Vault. They will

:38:05. > :38:07.want to show their bitter gymnasts, they didn't have a good

:38:08. > :38:14.qualification. That shows that she is. One of the youngest Romanian

:38:15. > :38:18.gymnasts, she got silver at the Junior Europeans on this piece of

:38:19. > :38:26.apparatus last year. Good, strong vaulting. They lost one of their

:38:27. > :38:29.team members to an injury in the final training before the team

:38:30. > :38:33.competition. They really were thrown.

:38:34. > :38:47.Into force at the moment. -- fourth-place.

:38:48. > :38:59.Wang Yan 13.5 for the floor routine, a lot lower than she would have

:39:00. > :39:02.wanted. Black was in fifth. Just waiting for her school, a chance to

:39:03. > :39:10.see some more of her routine in slow motion. -- waiting for her score.

:39:11. > :39:18.Unusually, she uses one, then the other, to set this turn from the low

:39:19. > :39:26.to the high bar. It's named after the first gymnast to perform it.

:39:27. > :39:32.That's lovely hop into the front somersault. She packs the difficulty

:39:33. > :39:36.in. Sometimes just a little bit loose around the legs, where she

:39:37. > :39:44.will lose marks. The actual difficulty is very nice indeed. One

:39:45. > :39:48.of the more unusual dismounts. The judges are taking their time with

:39:49. > :39:52.this score. They are the machines had time to pack her hand guards

:39:53. > :39:53.away. A great improvement on qualification, she stays fifth for

:39:54. > :40:18.now. 15.433 needed from Douglas to match

:40:19. > :40:22.Simone Biles's score at this stage. She's grown into a very elegant,

:40:23. > :40:30.mature gymnast, lovely full pure wet. Down to that low bar. They have

:40:31. > :40:39.to hit handstands. I love this combination, the half turn, her

:40:40. > :40:45.hands in reverse grip. It has been clean. Half turn on the top bar,

:40:46. > :40:51.winds into a super double straight Gienger, very elegant. Caen we said

:40:52. > :40:58.maybe she's not competition fit, but she's driving here. She hadn't

:40:59. > :41:03.competed outside the USA until 2012, the team competition. This is her

:41:04. > :41:07.third competition in this arena. She's probably feeling a lot more

:41:08. > :41:15.confident than she did on day one. She has grown with each performance.

:41:16. > :41:21.She's not tall, but she's one of the longer gymnast now. The double

:41:22. > :41:28.straight looks beautiful house like that. She is in the bar final,

:41:29. > :41:35.qualifying with the sixth highest score in qualification.

:41:36. > :41:44.Over to the beam. Murakami of Japan. 19 years old. She qualified in the

:41:45. > :41:56.top ten. An unusual mound, gets her low on

:41:57. > :42:07.the beam to start the routine, fulfils that requirement from the

:42:08. > :42:08.judges. -- unusual mount. Two hits and a lovely high straight-backed

:42:09. > :42:24.somersault, very businesslike. I was impressed with that, the

:42:25. > :42:32.change leg immediately into the tuck back. Free cartwheel. Very

:42:33. > :42:44.difficult, the double spin, she negotiates it well. That they might

:42:45. > :42:50.not credit, the feet were only really at the bottom of the head.

:42:51. > :42:57.But I like her rhythm. Elegant arms and movement. She has kept the

:42:58. > :43:03.routine going well. Determined, focused. Double pike dismount, that

:43:04. > :43:10.showed maturity, that was a classy performance. She is delighted with

:43:11. > :43:17.it, so she should become a sharp and confident. -- so she should be,

:43:18. > :43:23.sharp and confident. A great feeling in the Japanese team at the moment.

:43:24. > :43:31.Gaby Douglas goes into second place. Ahead of Steingruber.

:43:32. > :43:41.She was in fourth for China, Chunsong Shang. A very slight, but

:43:42. > :43:48.very able gymnast. She held Chunsong Shang. A very slight, but

:43:49. > :43:55.well. She fell here in qualification, this was the

:43:56. > :43:56.well. She fell here in piece for her. Clare

:43:57. > :44:01.well. She fell here in half turn. The Chinese have always

:44:02. > :44:05.well. She fell here in been beautiful on beam, but erratic.

:44:06. > :44:07.well. She fell here in It's the leaks that sets them apart,

:44:08. > :44:17.isn't it? It is. -- leaps. It's the leaks that sets them apart,

:44:18. > :44:23.was good. You have to show a variety of skills. Forward, backwards,

:44:24. > :44:26.sideways. I liked the front somersault, they are very dynamic,

:44:27. > :44:30.even though they are tiny, these gymnasts, they are very powerful.

:44:31. > :44:36.And she performed that really well. The double spin is one of the most

:44:37. > :44:42.difficult elements and gets a lot of marks. It's worth risking. Nice,

:44:43. > :44:50.strong free walk over into the jump. She's going for her connections. And

:44:51. > :44:56.the free cartwheel. So, this will be a serious challenge, if she can land

:44:57. > :45:04.the dismount as well. Up, triple twist, she does! A serious

:45:05. > :45:08.challenge, Matt. Absolutely. She spun like a top on that little

:45:09. > :45:12.twist. She must have felt shaky going into this knowing that if she

:45:13. > :45:15.could nail this, carry on around the rest of the rotations,

:45:16. > :45:16.could nail this, carry on around the a chance of a medal. Absolutely, you

:45:17. > :45:57.can see she was quite off. 14.7 put her in third. Simone Biles

:45:58. > :46:03.leads. Well, Larissa Iordache is introduced to the crowd. She didn't

:46:04. > :46:11.have a very happy time in qualification but her competition so

:46:12. > :46:34.far has gone well. Super. Was that fought out? Beautiful landing.

:46:35. > :46:51.Presents the routine, always, so beautifully. Look at those spins.

:46:52. > :47:23.Very elegant presentation. More power. Makes the triple look so

:47:24. > :47:31.easy. Great controller. No delay into this tumble. Double pike again.

:47:32. > :47:38.A beautiful landing. The side semi-to wrap it all up. That was

:47:39. > :47:49.lovely. She has a lot to prove here. In this third group, way down the

:47:50. > :47:57.field. Not used to rotating with gymnasts she is competing with.

:47:58. > :48:02.Romania have had a torrid time here. They have not qualified for the

:48:03. > :48:07.Olympic Games. They have to go to the test event. She will feel that

:48:08. > :48:12.they need this performance. She didn't do that in the qualification

:48:13. > :48:17.competition. She is obviously going for broke now. She really is a class

:48:18. > :48:32.performer. Second all-around last year. Ruby Harrold and beam for

:48:33. > :48:37.Great Britain. She had the responsibility of starting the

:48:38. > :48:40.competition for Great Britain in qualification. It was her solid

:48:41. > :48:50.performance that set them on the road. Couple of tiny little wobbles

:48:51. > :49:04.there. But it is going well. Punches a good strong front somersault. The

:49:05. > :49:10.gymnasts is performing these routines so many times during the

:49:11. > :49:15.day. That turn was good. Just a wobble. Backflip layout somersault.

:49:16. > :49:21.She just didn't have enough power in that backflip to lift her into the

:49:22. > :49:47.layout somersault. Disappointed with herself. Clean on the free

:49:48. > :49:59.cartwheel. Held it well. Big dismount for Ruby. A bit heavy on

:50:00. > :50:07.the landing. A shame. She just rushed into the dismount. It is the

:50:08. > :50:13.same with Amy Tinkler. They have given their all and they are tired.

:50:14. > :50:19.In the team competition they both worked outstandingly on the beam. To

:50:20. > :50:25.help the team qualify. They didn't either of them do beam in the team

:50:26. > :50:30.final way you do only choose three gymnasts. You can see the

:50:31. > :50:42.disappointment in Ruby's face there. Two more pieces to go for the

:50:43. > :50:50.British girls. 12.4334 Ruby Harrold. A chance to see Iordache on Friday.

:50:51. > :50:55.She seems to be enjoying it there. She most certainly does. It is the

:50:56. > :51:30.end of the routine so no wonder. She is up into fifth. I think we can

:51:31. > :51:35.have a word with Beth Tweddle to get her reflections on the first

:51:36. > :51:44.rotation. That top group, nobody is giving anything away. They are all

:51:45. > :51:59.fighting. Those last little tents can mean the difference between a

:52:00. > :52:06.middle -- a medal or not. Would you expect Simone Biles to be further

:52:07. > :52:11.ahead? Not really. Beam is her worst piece. She has a mark ahead of every

:52:12. > :52:15.other gymnast. She will pick up the difficulty and go-ahead of the

:52:16. > :52:22.ranks. It is great to see the competition is so close. We talked

:52:23. > :52:38.about Iordache in the studio. Along with Steingruber and Sung Chung.

:52:39. > :52:42.It's all to fight for. I am pleased to see that Iordache has come out

:52:43. > :52:46.fighting. She has upped the grade and put in the double double. She

:52:47. > :52:55.looks really relaxed and businesslike tonight. I reckon the

:52:56. > :53:03.Romain Iams will have been given to prove their point tonight. That is

:53:04. > :53:08.why she has come out fighting. The beam is a great piece to start on.

:53:09. > :53:14.We have seen her be successful on that piece and it got her off to a

:53:15. > :53:18.great start for this competition. We know she can do a solid double

:53:19. > :53:25.twist. It is just turn it is, bars, last. The four pieces of the

:53:26. > :53:31.all-around, suddenly, we are here at the halfway stage with just two

:53:32. > :53:35.pieces left. What happens with a gymnast psychologically at this

:53:36. > :53:44.point, almost on the final straight. You have to forget how many pieces

:53:45. > :53:50.you have done and take each piece at a time. You make mistakes if you

:53:51. > :54:00.start to relax. The athletes are not thinking about the end of the

:54:01. > :54:06.competition. We are talking about Shang. Is this a good piece to have

:54:07. > :54:15.as the puddle ultimate peace for her? Some of it and some hated.

:54:16. > :54:25.Literally, it is up to the individual. Thank you, Beth. We will

:54:26. > :54:32.get back to you in the next rotation. Amy Tinkler for her third

:54:33. > :54:43.piece. Plenty of chalk. It helps with the grip. Just to give you an

:54:44. > :54:43.piece. Plenty of chalk. It helps idea, that top group is now on

:54:44. > :54:49.clean. idea, that top group is now on

:54:50. > :54:53.floor. The third group is on the vaults and the fourth group are on

:54:54. > :55:24.uneven bars. How vaults and the fourth group are on

:55:25. > :55:49.alight. This is a very big tumble. New this season. Real confidence.

:55:50. > :55:50.Not content with one huge tumble. A double second. Really sure and

:55:51. > :56:16.really strong. Gymnasts have double second. Really sure and

:56:17. > :56:30.difficult tumbles. She does a 1.5, walks out

:56:31. > :56:34.difficult tumbles. She does a 1.5, bag. Changing there. This is her

:56:35. > :56:48.fifth. Needs to land perfectly and it does. Beautiful double pike she

:56:49. > :57:01.didn't look tired then. Well done, Amy, indeed. She is a fabulous

:57:02. > :57:14.gymnast on for stop Great Britain have an abundance

:57:15. > :57:17.gymnast on for stop Great Britain are really confident on all stop

:57:18. > :57:28.gravity and science on this piece of apparatus. -- she seems to defy

:57:29. > :57:55.gravity and science. Incredible posture. Semi-half term. So much at

:57:56. > :58:02.home. Quick layout into another layout. Absolutely rock solid. She

:58:03. > :58:08.almost lost it but how quick was that reaction? Could be very

:58:09. > :58:28.significant. She will regain her composure. Certainly thinking hard

:58:29. > :58:34.now. She must focus. She looks a tiny bit unsettled. Not as confident

:58:35. > :58:48.in that connection as you would have thought. Flick, flip, pulling in

:58:49. > :58:55.back out. How important will that be? She is showing signs of jitters.

:58:56. > :59:01.That incredible three in a row is preying on her mind. But how good

:59:02. > :59:05.was that recovery? The layout was a bit low and I think she was a bit

:59:06. > :59:12.casual going into that front somersault. You want good rhythm but

:59:13. > :59:16.you need to harness and focus. She looked like she didn't focus enough.

:59:17. > :59:24.But look at this dismount. It is something else. How would they

:59:25. > :59:33.counter that with the adjustment? A four? I think they would. Simone

:59:34. > :59:43.Biles is looking a little more concerned than usual. Amy Tinkler,

:59:44. > :59:55.13.966. It has made a competition of it, anyway. Seda Tutkhalian, the

:59:56. > :00:06.Russian gymnast. The youth Olympic champion. Good, confident, held the

:00:07. > :00:11.landing well. Then two very nice jumps.

:00:12. > :00:25.The leap with the half turn. Ooh! She didn't really take the round off

:00:26. > :00:28.over the top Rob Vickerman that's such a difficult skill, straight

:00:29. > :00:34.back with full twist, my goodness me, the beam is proving tricky for

:00:35. > :00:48.these gymnasts tonight, quite a poor jump.

:00:49. > :00:57.Moves smoothly and smartly with the dance. She held the landing well,

:00:58. > :01:14.but she didn't really hit the splits position. So, the big dismount. The

:01:15. > :01:19.big round off double pike. That was good, she fell in the team final on

:01:20. > :01:24.the dismount which is why she took such a long pause. The full twist

:01:25. > :01:28.never looked on. She was sixth going up to the beam, but I think she'll

:01:29. > :01:32.drop away now, no doubt about it. You could see that, it really wasn't

:01:33. > :01:38.directly over the beam, we've lost the shock of the beam, you can see

:01:39. > :01:40.she was quite a little way off. Started out off-line. Inevitable,

:01:41. > :02:01.really. Chunsong Shang waiting for the floor

:02:02. > :02:04.judges to give her the all clear. If you have any questions, anything you

:02:05. > :02:14.would like to ask the team, get in touch.

:02:15. > :02:23.Although she's a tiny gymnast, this young lady is quite experienced. 19

:02:24. > :02:27.years old. We've seen her in competitions fail a bit, you always

:02:28. > :02:39.learn from failing. She looks much more focused and prepared today. The

:02:40. > :02:42.floor and the Vault to go. Open ultimate piece. She is currently

:02:43. > :03:16.third. Very difficult. Watch carefully,

:03:17. > :03:19.this next tumble. So, 1.5 twist, she walks out into three twists,

:03:20. > :03:25.immediate punch front. Really impressive.

:03:26. > :03:42.The spin. Very clean. The quad spin, four rotations.

:03:43. > :03:55.2.5 punch front with a half turn. Lovely leap there. Now we have yet

:03:56. > :04:01.to see her do a double somersault. In two double pike, double tuck, she

:04:02. > :04:05.has to include one of those in the routine, every other tumble has been

:04:06. > :04:14.twisting. A big double pike, she lands well, this will be a difficult

:04:15. > :04:20.a high-level start value. Saving the spin for last, my word, she had

:04:21. > :04:27.power, she had energy and she had some very impressive, impressive

:04:28. > :04:32.landings. So quick, so light. Very clever, because the triple twist, if

:04:33. > :04:38.you want, wasn't very cleanly round, but because she immediately hunch

:04:39. > :04:45.froms, it was nearly impossible for the judges to sit. Will they give

:04:46. > :04:52.her it? I think so. This was 3.5 to start, not many female gymnasts do

:04:53. > :04:56.that. Varies the 1.5, watch, she's doing a triple, when she lands, the

:04:57. > :05:01.feet are just a little bit to one side, but because she punch fronts

:05:02. > :05:08.so confidently, you wouldn't be able to see that.

:05:09. > :05:23.On the vault, Iordache. A good double twist with skip back, clean,

:05:24. > :05:28.efficient, she's very determined. She was fifth going into this piece

:05:29. > :05:35.of apparatus: The halfway stage. Just one vault. Such determination

:05:36. > :05:40.you can almost feel it. She wraps that in. Skipped back, but very

:05:41. > :05:46.quick to adopt that landing position, confident and sure of it.

:05:47. > :05:52.15.066 for Iordache. position, confident and sure of it.

:05:53. > :06:05.this performance, than her qualifying round. Just waiting for

:06:06. > :06:13.Seda Tutkhalian's score on the beam. Looking after her feet there.

:06:14. > :06:27.Carlotta Ferlito on the vault. 14.266. In qualification. She's good

:06:28. > :06:32.on beam, can she be powerful on the vault? Good enough, 1.5 twists.

:06:33. > :06:42.Didn't really get up off the platform.

:06:43. > :06:49.You can see she's very quickly off this platform, a little bit more

:06:50. > :06:57.air. She lost leg form. Efficient enough.

:06:58. > :07:17.Johnson's an, 14.533. -- Chunsong Shang. Consistent scoring, she'll

:07:18. > :07:34.need a good vault if she wants a medal. Teramoto of Japan on the

:07:35. > :07:40.bars. Very nice full wet into the Gienger salto. Her second big

:07:41. > :07:46.release, the front somersault, the Yeager. She wheeled her legs a

:07:47. > :07:52.little bit on that salto full pirouette, but smoothly into the

:07:53. > :07:57.handstand. It has been cleaned. Can we have the big dismount? We can,

:07:58. > :08:01.very nicely, for twisting, double back. Japan impressed me a lot in

:08:02. > :08:06.the team and petitions, very businesslike, they knew their work.

:08:07. > :08:13.The shoots down. Immediately to shoot up. You can see the feet

:08:14. > :08:18.directly above the head, she hit the handstand. And the dismount, double

:08:19. > :08:23.tuck, full twist. These gymnasts are so technically efficient. 14.366 for

:08:24. > :08:42.Asuka Teramoto. Laura Jurca at the bars. She was

:08:43. > :08:50.seventh going into this. Circle, clear circle. A little bit short on

:08:51. > :09:02.the handstand. Nicely through that pirouette, into the Gienger. The

:09:03. > :09:11.pack safely negotiated. Here comes the transfer.

:09:12. > :09:16.So, she's got a decent rhythm to the routine. Short on handstand on

:09:17. > :09:19.occasion, but the routine. Short on handstand on

:09:20. > :09:23.good, she's a perky little routine. Short on handstand on

:09:24. > :09:32.12.44 that even routine for Seda confident.

:09:33. > :09:37.12.44 that even routine for Seda Tutkhalian. They are really

:09:38. > :09:44.hammering the mistakes today. It is proving to be the beam. -- it's

:09:45. > :09:52.proving to be the leveller, the beam. Lieke Wevers, from the

:09:53. > :09:57.Netherlands. Use gold at the European games earlier this year on

:09:58. > :10:02.this piece. A very interesting beam routine, quite different from many

:10:03. > :10:12.of the gymnast will stop starts with a nice, clean leap, change leg into

:10:13. > :10:16.season. Free cartwheel, immediate free cartwheel, that's her acrobatic

:10:17. > :10:20.series, she had to make sure she didn't pause. A very nice free

:10:21. > :10:27.walkover immediately to the sheet jump. She is going for those

:10:28. > :10:31.combinations. This is what she is renowned for, the beautiful spins.

:10:32. > :10:40.But she put the foot down early there. Super, super double spin.

:10:41. > :10:53.Write up on the terms. Smoothly into the flip. -- write-up on her toes.

:10:54. > :11:16.She has been smooth, but missing that first spin will be costly.

:11:17. > :11:21.Lovely, straight gain salto. Great competition she's having. A family

:11:22. > :11:25.affair for them, her twin sister on the team. Varies Dan Vincent,

:11:26. > :11:29.they've had a great week. And it goes on. There is the standing,

:11:30. > :11:36.Simone Biles hands-on ahead of Chunsong Shang. And Iordache in

:11:37. > :11:38.bronze medal position at the moment. Still if you gymnasts to go, we

:11:39. > :12:08.haven't seen Douglas yet. Look at that run. She needs it.

:12:09. > :12:19.Nicely done, double twist. Slightly deep on landing. All the way round,

:12:20. > :12:29.good, square hips and shoulders. Power in the run. Round off. There

:12:30. > :12:30.you go. Little bit pike through flight, made sure of the double

:12:31. > :12:46.twist. 14.875. That is 60 forgot it. You

:12:47. > :12:52.could see it posted on the scoreboard at the end of the vault

:12:53. > :12:59.runway. Waiting for Lieke Wevers's score on the beam. It's 14.2. She's

:13:00. > :13:05.in the beam final, one of the best beam scores we've seen today.

:13:06. > :13:30.Ellie Black was joint seventh with Laura Jurca going into this piece of

:13:31. > :13:34.apparatus. And in qualification Elsabeth Black performed brilliantly

:13:35. > :13:38.on the beam, she's got a very difficult routine with a very high

:13:39. > :13:46.start value, if she hits it all, varies the double spin... The D

:13:47. > :13:50.element given the same value as the free walkover. Lovely bike front

:13:51. > :13:55.somersault, very emphatic on the landing.

:13:56. > :14:10.Here we go, backflip, straight back somersault. Corrected herself well.

:14:11. > :14:15.Another big combination coming up here.

:14:16. > :14:25.Backflip, full twist... Ooh! We've seen her perform that so well in the

:14:26. > :14:30.past. It's such a tricky element, this, so little margin for error.

:14:31. > :14:40.Somersault with full twist. The two leaps.

:14:41. > :14:46.A tough front somersault now. You can see she's very well trained, she

:14:47. > :14:54.rehearses these moves very frequently. She will want to make

:14:55. > :15:02.sure she finishes well. 2.5 twists, just a little pace back, but that

:15:03. > :15:05.will be costly. What an obstacle this piece of apparatus is proving

:15:06. > :15:12.to be. We know from qualification it was tricky for Douglas and Giulia

:15:13. > :15:19.Steingruber. The Young it's claimed its fair share of victims tonight

:15:20. > :15:23.that's for sure. -- it claimed its fair share of victims. Douglas will

:15:24. > :15:30.be the next gymnast under the beam. Let's watch Seitz first from Germany

:15:31. > :15:47.on the Uneven Bars. Good rhythm in the start. A nice

:15:48. > :16:00.Tkatchev. A straddled Jager. Clean so far. A little bit loose leg it.

:16:01. > :16:10.-- leg. Full term. A tiny bit late. Very efficient twisting dismount.

:16:11. > :16:16.One of her better apparatus. Yes, it's her piece, really. She mucked

:16:17. > :16:22.up in qualification so she is not in the bar final but she really has a

:16:23. > :16:29.good repertoire. Varied flight from below to the hive. Used by so many

:16:30. > :16:46.of the gymnasts. Lovely, crisp pirouette. Proving why she had entry

:16:47. > :16:54.into the Olympic bars final. How it all changes with one move. That's

:16:55. > :17:08.right. Elsabeth Black. 13.3 for the beam. So, Gabby Douglas needs more

:17:09. > :17:17.than 14.8 to take the lead. She was in second place. She did fall on

:17:18. > :17:29.this piece in qualification. Nice big front somersault. Pike. Smooth

:17:30. > :17:36.in the layout. The two elements linked. The backflip and the

:17:37. > :17:45.somersault. The full twisting tuck back, very secure. That was the move

:17:46. > :17:52.that she fell on. It was indeed. She went off the side in the early

:17:53. > :17:58.competition. Managed to hold those moves securely. Many of these

:17:59. > :18:10.gymnasts doing to different elements. Well held. The leg held

:18:11. > :18:18.high. But I don't think that will be credited. You have to have the foot

:18:19. > :18:25.up to the height of the head. Smooth, free walkover. Just missed

:18:26. > :18:34.that link. Goodness. Even the Olympic champion is a bit edgy

:18:35. > :18:38.tonight. Here comes the dismount. She has really performed critically

:18:39. > :18:45.tonight. She will stay within reach of Simone Biles. Will she have her

:18:46. > :18:52.name on a medal? It makes for a great competition. Olympic champion

:18:53. > :18:57.versus world champion. You couldn't ask for better. There is the full

:18:58. > :19:01.twisting tuck back from standing. ask for better. There is the full

:19:02. > :19:08.You have to be so fast to perform that on the beam. That gives you a

:19:09. > :19:10.good view of how little margin for error there is. And there is the

:19:11. > :19:27.dismount. Just jams the feet in. the difficulty score changed.

:19:28. > :19:30.Basically, I'm not sure what the difficulty score changed.

:19:31. > :19:36.of apparatus were talking about but she's up to 13th. I think it

:19:37. > :19:42.of apparatus were talking about but beam. I think it must have been.

:19:43. > :19:48.That is the only thing you can protest. The difficulty score. We

:19:49. > :20:08.will talk more about that after Ruby Harrold on the floor. Very dramatic

:20:09. > :20:15.routine. Superhigh double Arabian. Really gives the dance everything.

:20:16. > :20:42.That was a good double-twisting straight front. Quite a tricky

:20:43. > :21:12.tumble. 1.5, punch into fourth. She held it quite well. Very nicely.

:21:13. > :21:19.Hitting the splits. Just the big tumble to go. Needs to finish with a

:21:20. > :21:31.double. Super. Double tuck. Well done, Ruby. The crowd here in

:21:32. > :21:38.double. Super. Double tuck. Well Glasgow or for Ruby Harrold. -- they

:21:39. > :21:49.roar. Double Arabian, half turn into double front. The big dismount.

:21:50. > :21:53.Double tuck. You have to finish with at least eight double somersault --

:21:54. > :22:03.at the ball -- you need to finish with at least

:22:04. > :22:13.a double somersault if you want the high difficulty. Giulia Steingruber

:22:14. > :22:42.challenging for a medal here. Good start. She is away safely. Now not

:22:43. > :22:48.so safe. She parts company. Difficult, seconds after falling to

:22:49. > :23:11.regain your composure. But they are so vastly experienced. Pike front.

:23:12. > :23:18.In no problem there. Secure on the side semi. She really has regained

:23:19. > :23:23.her composure. She has got a really good dismount. As quirky as

:23:24. > :23:36.anything. She certainly regained confidence. A little wobble there,

:23:37. > :23:42.as I speak. Al yes. Full twist. Not for the faint hearted. You have to

:23:43. > :23:52.push your hips through and get the distance. There speaks a man who

:23:53. > :23:59.tried it. The dismount is named after her in the code of points. The

:24:00. > :24:07.layout somersault was a way of the line. Her feet were way across the

:24:08. > :24:12.beam as she landed. She's going to drop away from the medals. Let's

:24:13. > :24:24.just have a word with Beth Tweddle, if we can. Beth, you were very keen

:24:25. > :24:30.for Steingruber to do well. It's a disappointment. She was last up and

:24:31. > :24:36.there was a long delay as they worked out Tutkhalian's beam score.

:24:37. > :24:44.Most of them are struggling with the beam to night. There is a real fight

:24:45. > :25:00.for third and fourth. Hardly anything in it. We are going to have

:25:01. > :25:16.Iordache's bars and junk song is Chunsong Shang's flow. She had the

:25:17. > :25:23.tougher draw going last on the bars. How surprised were you with Simone

:25:24. > :25:30.Biles on the beam. She loved unsettled at the beginning but she

:25:31. > :25:34.saved it well. The rest of the routine was a little shaky. She is

:25:35. > :25:41.not as far ahead as she would like to be but she is a fighter. I still

:25:42. > :25:47.don't have any worries but it is gymnastics and anything can happen

:25:48. > :25:51.on the night. Gabby Douglas looked pretty cool, considering her

:25:52. > :25:58.competition experience. A few wobble is here and there is an beam. The

:25:59. > :26:02.challenge tonight was just to stay on beam. She will be a bit nervous

:26:03. > :26:06.having fallen off in qualification but just to stay on was a great

:26:07. > :26:12.achievement and she will be going forward with a lot of confidence.

:26:13. > :26:20.Thank you very much. We will let you sit down and let the gymnasts finish

:26:21. > :26:30.their warm up. Very soon we will be on the last piece of apparatus. The

:26:31. > :26:41.top group will be an floor, the second on Bolt, the third on uneven

:26:42. > :26:49.bars and the fourth on beam. Gabby Jupp -- Gabby Douglas is currently

:26:50. > :26:53.in silver medal place. Chunsong Shang is currently in bronze medal

:26:54. > :27:06.position. Steingruber has dropped away. Larissa Iordache on bars will

:27:07. > :27:11.be keen to literally hang on. She will. She didn't have a good time in

:27:12. > :27:16.qualification but she can work bars. However, Steingruber has an

:27:17. > :27:26.outstanding floor. She could pull it back up a little bit. What will be

:27:27. > :27:33.going through the mind of Larissa Iordache. She got the silver medal

:27:34. > :27:36.last year. Group way down the field. Computing on the opposite side of

:27:37. > :27:43.the arena to those she would normally work with. It would be a

:27:44. > :27:48.wonderful story. The demise of the remaining gymnasts at this

:27:49. > :27:50.competition has been sad to see. For Iordache to come out and solve age

:27:51. > :27:59.something would be fantastic. Iordache to come out and solve age

:28:00. > :28:10.salvage something. A great piece for Steingruber to finish on. Warm up is

:28:11. > :28:15.over. Seda Tutkhalian will be the last to go on this piece of

:28:16. > :28:28.apparatus. The final chance for gymnasts to place their bid. A

:28:29. > :28:53.16-year-old in her first year of senior competition. The all-round

:28:54. > :28:57.women's final. You would think after rather a long warm up period that

:28:58. > :29:04.the judges would be ready. Interestingly, over the last two

:29:05. > :29:15.days, the previous competitions. It has been the same panel of judges.

:29:16. > :29:20.Today it is different. Clean. Very efficient.

:29:21. > :29:28.She qualified with 14.533. On we go with the gymnast on the floor, Seda

:29:29. > :29:40.Tutkhalian. We've she competed at the youth Olympics

:29:41. > :29:51.last year with this piece. Is a good on. Beautifully done.

:29:52. > :30:14.The power through the flick. A good rebound tumble.

:30:15. > :30:23.Nicely joined. Split series. 1.5 twist into half twist. A jump to

:30:24. > :30:47.tidy it all up at the end. There you go. Nice, clean efficient

:30:48. > :31:05.Floor Exercise. And vital There you go. Nice, clean efficient

:31:06. > :31:09.for all these young gymnasts coming in. She was 15th going into that

:31:10. > :31:14.piece but it is invaluable, isn't it, the year before the Olympics was

:31:15. > :31:17.to mark absolutely, it's amazing. First second and third at the youth

:31:18. > :31:23.Olympics, Ellie Downie didn't the final, she's fallen, as has the

:31:24. > :31:31.Brazilian gymnast. They have shown they are young.

:31:32. > :31:47.Seitz. On the beam. Jumps straight out today.

:31:48. > :31:51.Seitz. On the beam. Jumps straight to a split position. Quite a

:31:52. > :32:08.difficult mount and well rewarded on the marks.

:32:09. > :32:21.Smooth backwards somersault, held it well, her chest was down a little

:32:22. > :32:29.bit. Side somersault is difficult because the beam is cited as they

:32:30. > :32:33.land. -- can't be seen when they land. With the free walkover they

:32:34. > :32:38.can leave their head back quite a long time and see the beam behind

:32:39. > :32:43.them. Nice spin. The problem with this routine is that it is one move

:32:44. > :32:50.after the other. And that will be quite deducted, quite heavily

:32:51. > :32:57.deducted, by the judges. Little bit short on the split in both leaps.

:32:58. > :33:04.However, the very good thing about this routine is she stayed on. And

:33:05. > :33:10.not wobbled about. She'll be delighted, just needs the dismount

:33:11. > :33:20.. They are falling like flies on the Very pleasing. -- straight

:33:21. > :33:32.. They are falling like flies on the beam. It's a feather in her cap. She

:33:33. > :33:40.stayed on. Finishes with 13.566. Third at the moment. A lots of

:33:41. > :33:43.gymnasts, including this lady, Chunsong Shang. Third medal place at

:33:44. > :33:57.the moment. Yurchenko. She Chunsong Shang. Third medal place at

:33:58. > :34:03.twist, just a tiny adjustment. You are going to ask me how many twists,

:34:04. > :34:05.aren't you, Matt? Whatever she gets here, Iordache will need, they were

:34:06. > :34:11.virtually the same score going into this. She wants to play absolutely

:34:12. > :34:18.safe. And that is playing safe, just the full twist. Not the highest

:34:19. > :34:24.tariff. And a big step forward. It won't be a massive score. It's

:34:25. > :34:30.13.866. Maybe she's played it a little bit to save. I certainly

:34:31. > :34:35.think that Iordache could score that if she worked her very best on the

:34:36. > :34:44.bar. However, great competition. Did she do that vault in qualifying?

:34:45. > :34:48.Yes, she did. Iordache needs more than 13.958 on the bars to go ahead

:34:49. > :34:55.of her and into that bronze medal position. A total of 55.765 for

:34:56. > :35:20.Seitz. The rant live a. -- Oliveira from

:35:21. > :35:27.Brazil. She strides out confidently, Yurchenko, this time with two

:35:28. > :35:31.twists. Nice. She strolls away from it as though it's nothing. Nice and

:35:32. > :35:40.high and flighty, that. Nicely done indeed. She really did stride out in

:35:41. > :35:45.that run-up. Double twist, clean and easy. Very nice. Landed dead centre

:35:46. > :35:52.then skipped to the side a little. But good vaulting. The judges

:35:53. > :36:06.agreed. She is seventh at the moment.

:36:07. > :36:17.Carlotta Ferlito from Italy. 13.233 she qualified with.

:36:18. > :36:32.Smooth start. A little bit of poorer body shape. Smoothly back up to the

:36:33. > :36:41.high bar. Nice half term. Changes shape. You could see it was going to

:36:42. > :36:46.come from that. Swing turn, little bit of an empty element immediate

:36:47. > :36:53.full pirouette. Into the double front, half in double front. A good

:36:54. > :37:02.routine, very solid, but not of the really difficult variety. Well,

:37:03. > :37:16.Iordache will be on the bars next. That battle for third.

:37:17. > :37:24.Elsabeth Black from Canada. Commonwealth bronze-medallist on

:37:25. > :37:31.this piece of apparatus. Very powerful gymnast with some very

:37:32. > :37:46.original tumbling. Builds lots of difficulty. Watch

:37:47. > :37:49.this, round of Philip, two and a half twist, walks into a double

:37:50. > :37:58.tuck. Two hugely difficult tumbles in one run.

:37:59. > :38:13.She leaps well. Cleanly around that full-term. Forward tumbling this

:38:14. > :38:39.time, very nice, double twist forward, immediate punch front.

:38:40. > :38:46.Really difficult tumbles now. Full twist. In two double pike. Another

:38:47. > :38:55.big tumbling series. Very original, very good. Huge tumbles. That first

:38:56. > :39:01.tumble, we both applauded it. Superb. Double tuck at the end of

:39:02. > :39:05.that series. Even the running front full twist walk-out in two double

:39:06. > :39:06.pike, they are very unusual. I don't know any other gymnast in the world

:39:07. > :39:12.who does those tumbles. Carlotta Ferlito finishes with

:39:13. > :39:27.55.740. It's her all around competition over

:39:28. > :39:32.with and soon it'll be the case for Iordache. She needs more than 13.958

:39:33. > :39:45.to steal bronze. From the Chinese gymnast. Nice pirouette.

:39:46. > :39:54.Immediately... And the half term. Clearly through the Jager

:39:55. > :40:00.somersault. Down to the low bar. She going for broke. You can see odd

:40:01. > :40:08.flickers off her feet apart. That was lovely, the shap half. Lifts up

:40:09. > :40:14.here. Thought pirouette. That's good. Just the dismount, full

:40:15. > :40:18.twisting, double back, what a very good performance from Iordache,

:40:19. > :40:25.we're thrilled. She didn't hold back. She will get a medal, I'm sure

:40:26. > :40:31.of it. You know, Chunsong Shang played safe, Iordache went all-out,

:40:32. > :40:36.the right decision. She really showed her metal there. Thoroughly

:40:37. > :40:48.deserves it. If she does manage bronze. A superb performance. Black,

:40:49. > :40:55.14.425. On the floor routine. In the third at the moment. Three major

:40:56. > :41:04.gymnasts to come, here's one of them. Gabby Douglas. All-round

:41:05. > :41:10.Olympic champion. Looking for a medal here in the women's all-round

:41:11. > :41:20.world final. Dramatic start. Confident. Her leg kept high and the

:41:21. > :41:22.spin was accurate. Here we go. Double Arabian, into the leap.

:41:23. > :41:32.Absolutely under control. More power to come through the flip.

:41:33. > :41:45.Again, just to show she's in charge. Setting up the spin. Double pike,

:41:46. > :42:26.super. She's thoroughly Tiny, tiny uncertainty in the

:42:27. > :42:31.landing. But so far so powerful. So convincing in the choreography. Here

:42:32. > :42:38.comes the final tumble. Double tuck, tiny adjustment. Boy oh boy, that

:42:39. > :42:42.was impressive. A joy to watch, what an all-round competition she has

:42:43. > :42:46.had. She really has, she has convinced more and more as the

:42:47. > :42:55.competition has gone along. That was very clean work. Every landing

:42:56. > :43:03.controlled, it was a really good example of working within yourself.

:43:04. > :43:10.Still waiting for Iordache's scored to come in. A lot of deliberation

:43:11. > :43:17.about it. She's trying to look calm. It's in now, it is 14.8, it's huge.

:43:18. > :43:22.She's gone into the lead at the moment. But still we are waiting

:43:23. > :43:26.Douglas's score. Simone Biles has yet to go. It looks as though

:43:27. > :43:31.Iordache has got herself a medal. Absolutely thrilled. There won't be

:43:32. > :43:46.a gymnastics fan around the world that isn't pleased.

:43:47. > :43:57.Well, Douglas now needs more than 14.374 to go ahead of your order --

:43:58. > :44:02.to go ahead of Iordache. I think she'll get that, I'll stick my neck

:44:03. > :44:10.out here. It was great, wasn't it? Lovely routine.

:44:11. > :44:16.It's not quite such huge tumbling as many of the gymnasts we've seen.

:44:17. > :44:24.It's good, but we've seen really massive tumbling from some of them.

:44:25. > :44:29.The whole performance is clean. Her landings are accurate, aren't they?

:44:30. > :44:31.That was nice. She's a subtle gymnast, she can leap, hit the split

:44:32. > :44:41.easily. All the things that make her a

:44:42. > :44:42.complete gymnast, really. That was an error. Little stutter to the

:44:43. > :45:01.side. Whips

:45:02. > :45:11.well. I think it will be close, looking at that. It's a

:45:12. > :45:19.well. I think it will be close, weight. The school is in. It is

:45:20. > :45:37.14.583. She has gone ahead of Iordache. With one gymnast to go in

:45:38. > :45:47.this all-around final. Quite tight. Steingruber. Slightly off the pace

:45:48. > :45:51.in six. But you say she is a powerhouse on this piece. She

:45:52. > :45:55.in six. But you say she is a powerhouse. She can leap

:45:56. > :46:19.outstandingly. Double straight with full twist. She sells the routine.

:46:20. > :47:10.Second big tumble on its way. Double. No problem. Full twisting

:47:11. > :47:15.double back in the third. Really performs well. Sells the routine.

:47:16. > :47:26.She lives it. Absolute cracker of a routine. What could have been if it

:47:27. > :47:37.wasn't for the beam. A few gymnasts are sharing that sentiment. Put that

:47:38. > :47:45.one down to experience. She needs over 16 to medal. She won't go over

:47:46. > :47:56.16 but it is a good floor routine. She naturally performs well. There

:47:57. > :48:23.you see the lovely technique. The full twisting doubled great. --

:48:24. > :48:31.double straight. Very expressive. She uses her face and her eyes and

:48:32. > :48:41.connect with the audience. Not many gymnasts can connect with an

:48:42. > :48:45.audience like that. How wonderful to see Iordache back to smiling and

:48:46. > :48:50.enjoying gymnastics. Proving to the world what she is capable of.

:48:51. > :48:57.Absolutely. I'm sure she will lead the Romanian team into the test

:48:58. > :49:05.event and they will qualify. It has been a big moment for them in their

:49:06. > :49:21.sport. 14.5 for Steingruber. Outside the medals in fourth. Simone Biles

:49:22. > :49:27.going for a third consecutive all-around title. It's never been

:49:28. > :49:39.done before. She needs 14.183 to do it. I have never seen a female

:49:40. > :49:51.gymnast who can tumble like she can. Look at this. Double straight with

:49:52. > :50:20.full twist. This tumble I love. The double straight. But she leaps right

:50:21. > :50:27.out of the floor area. Lovely spin. Knows she needs to harness the power

:50:28. > :50:48.now. Double-twisting double back. Good tumble. And her own style. Her

:50:49. > :50:57.own dynamic style. Full twisting double back. So easy. And I love

:50:58. > :51:06.that finish. Full of verve and full of energy. But she knows there was a

:51:07. > :51:15.bit of a mistake. She did score 15.966 in qualification. She has a

:51:16. > :51:22.bit of leeway. She needs 14.183. There won't be any problem I don't

:51:23. > :51:33.think with that. Well, you've just seen I think, history. You have to

:51:34. > :51:45.say. She is a thoroughly charming champion. Always full of smiles. It

:51:46. > :51:53.was the jump out of it that went wrong. She landed the tumbling side

:51:54. > :52:15.of the floor. That is the important bit. It will be deducted. .1 for

:52:16. > :52:23.stepping both feet out. Wannabe .3. -- probably .3. But she had a lot in

:52:24. > :52:29.reserve. Fabulous tumbling. So much in reserve. That leap out of the

:52:30. > :52:37.area, surely won't be enough to rob her of gold. That tumbling was just

:52:38. > :52:49.enormous. Look at this. So high and confidence. I agree. I think

:52:50. > :52:56.everybody loves that finish. Oh yes. Isn't that nice. Look at that. It

:52:57. > :53:02.was interesting that she has felt the pressure a bit tonight. First,

:53:03. > :53:11.she didn't land her leap from the beam quite properly. That is enough.

:53:12. > :53:18.There you are looking at the three times running world champion.

:53:19. > :53:26.Superb. Those two are great friends and team-mates. Sharing the glory.

:53:27. > :53:33.Gabrielle Douglas takes the silver medal. What a super competition.

:53:34. > :53:39.Fantastic competition. You can see how much it meant to Simone Biles.

:53:40. > :53:48.She seems happy-go-lucky but she is obviously steely determined inside.

:53:49. > :53:53.And what a joy to see Iordache take a bronze medal and restore faith in

:53:54. > :54:01.remaining gymnastics. -- Romanian gymnastics. That is a hugely

:54:02. > :54:08.possible medal. Let's not forget Larissa. That is a superb

:54:09. > :54:13.achievement. Behind gold and silver for the United States, rue mania can

:54:14. > :54:23.take some joy. Simone Biles, three times world champion. A phenomenal

:54:24. > :54:32.achievement. This does emphasise the power of the American women, first

:54:33. > :54:55.and second. Very determined. Hugs all round. Smiles all round. Larissa

:54:56. > :55:01.Iordache deserves every ounce of that medal. But the moment is all

:55:02. > :55:09.about this young lady here. Simone Biles. It has never been done. Three

:55:10. > :55:14.consecutive all-around world titles. You could see she had the pressure

:55:15. > :55:19.on her tonight. She held it. Little errors here and there but she is

:55:20. > :55:24.still three times world champion. Getting back to Iordache, you could

:55:25. > :55:29.see how much it meant to her. She flew out of the arena to see her

:55:30. > :55:34.coach and she had tears in her eyes. She has had a hard week. Not knowing

:55:35. > :55:40.what will happen ahead of Rio. A tough week but she will be very

:55:41. > :55:47.pleased with that. Looking down the field, we can see 22nd and 23rd,

:55:48. > :55:52.Ruby Harrold and Amy Tinkler. It is worth the experience coming out

:55:53. > :55:57.here. Amy said it herself, whatever happens, I am in the top 24 in the

:55:58. > :56:04.world. It was a tough night for them both. A couple of balls. But it is

:56:05. > :56:16.so hard to win that medal and bring yourself back up. -- a couple of

:56:17. > :56:19.balls. -- falls. But it is in achievement and they will learn a

:56:20. > :56:25.lot from this competition going into Rio. We are now going to hand to

:56:26. > :56:30.David McDaid. Let's have a chat with him. I am with the world all-around

:56:31. > :56:37.champion and the world silver medallist. Simone, your third in a

:56:38. > :56:42.row. How do you feel? I don't even have words to describe it. I just

:56:43. > :56:48.keep my own mind. How did you keep going with the crowd. A couple of

:56:49. > :56:52.keep my own mind. How did you keep mistakes. A step out on the floor.

:56:53. > :56:58.How did you cope? It was strange for me. On the floor. On the

:56:59. > :57:03.How did you cope? It was strange for the red, I don't know this. I never

:57:04. > :57:08.go out of bounds usually. A first time for everything.

:57:09. > :57:15.go out of bounds usually. A first had a break. Your first competition

:57:16. > :57:19.since London 2012. I am just happy to be back on the floor on the world

:57:20. > :57:28.stage and I am very pleased with my performance. Time to get back in the

:57:29. > :57:32.stage and I am very pleased with my marks. And that is heading towards

:57:33. > :57:36.Rio. For sure. I have all the time in the world ahead. She is the

:57:37. > :57:40.Olympic champ. I am only the world in the world ahead. She is the

:57:41. > :57:48.champ. We are going to have to go head to head! Thanks very much for

:57:49. > :57:54.entertaining as all week. That is hilarious. I'm not used to going out

:57:55. > :58:02.of bounds. Can you believe she said that in the world final. The red,

:58:03. > :58:13.what is that? In training she normally lands on the floor area.

:58:14. > :58:22.We're going to keep talking. We are almost fair but we will keep going

:58:23. > :58:31.for the dismount on the red button. You will be able to see the event

:58:32. > :58:34.tomorrow. It has certainly been a competition of ladies first. We hope

:58:35. > :58:40.you can join us for the men's, addition. Fingers crossed that Dan

:58:41. > :58:45.Purvis and Matt Whitlock get a good nights sleep. Until then, good

:58:46. > :58:55.night.
