:00:10. > :00:19.I can't believe it's the last day of the finals. Shall we get the classic
:00:20. > :01:08.shot before we go? Ready? Start the countdown!
:01:09. > :01:15.We are the right way up now. Hello and welcome back to coverage of the
:01:16. > :01:19.World Gymnastics Championships. From Glasgow. This has already been the
:01:20. > :01:23.most successful gymnastics competition at whirled for Great
:01:24. > :01:29.Britain to date, with five medals in all. And they are not finished yet.
:01:30. > :01:35.-- at world level. Here is what is coming up.
:01:36. > :01:41.Simone Biles goes for gold again, aiming for a total of five medals at
:01:42. > :01:46.these World Championships. She will be joined on the floor by British
:01:47. > :01:51.hopeful and Commonwealth champion Claudia Fragapane and Ellie Downie
:01:52. > :01:59.who has already impressed so far. All around champ Uchimura is back in
:02:00. > :02:04.the high bars. Who will hang on for gold? We will be reflecting on the
:02:05. > :02:08.history makers, Louis Smith and Max Whitlock, finding out from Max what
:02:09. > :02:15.it feels like to wake up as a world champion. The gymnasts for the vault
:02:16. > :02:20.are making their way into the arena. Joining me to talk us through the
:02:21. > :02:24.five finals we are going to say, three-time world champion Beth
:02:25. > :02:28.Tweddle and world all-around silver medallist Dan Keatings. Welcome to
:02:29. > :02:33.you both. It is all kicking off behind us, the prop eight from
:02:34. > :02:38.qualification last week. Every so often in a sport, you get a virtuoso
:02:39. > :02:42.who seems to change the direction of the sport and makes all the other
:02:43. > :02:49.competitors realise what is humanly possible. With the vault, that
:02:50. > :02:55.certain someone is Dragulescu. This is him at the 2004 Athens Olympics
:02:56. > :03:00.with a double front and a half turn. If you are going to have a vault to
:03:01. > :03:08.your name, you better do it properly. He absolutely nailed it.
:03:09. > :03:13.Incredibly, after retiring twice, Dragulescu is back at the World
:03:14. > :03:19.Championships, now 34 years old. This was his qualification vault. It
:03:20. > :03:24.is amazing to see him back and performing the vaults he did in 2004
:03:25. > :03:28.at such a top quality level. It is awesome to see someone that age
:03:29. > :03:33.doing gymnastics at such a high level. To be fair, it is not really
:03:34. > :03:37.an old man's event, the vault, with all of the power down the runway. It
:03:38. > :03:42.is not, but he has worked really hard to come back and he has helped
:03:43. > :03:45.the Romanian team to get up there. We are not sure if he is going to
:03:46. > :03:51.raise his game from qualification for the final, interesting to see.
:03:52. > :03:56.Third-highest qualifier, he is in with a shout. This is Kenzo Shirai,
:03:57. > :04:02.who took gold in the four final yesterday. He will be using all of
:04:03. > :04:10.that twisting ability. -- in the floor final. His first vault is a
:04:11. > :04:14.triple twist, it is one of the most perfect vaults I have ever seen so
:04:15. > :04:19.you could see nearly a perfect score. The way he can wrap in the
:04:20. > :04:27.twist and spot the landing, because that is going to be the key in this
:04:28. > :04:30.event. It is, he will transfer it from the floor to the vault, and he
:04:31. > :04:35.has the perfect landing, which is what the judges will be looking for
:04:36. > :04:39.as a last impression. He will really want a medal, he has been outside
:04:40. > :04:43.the medals last year and the year before. He knows what it feels like
:04:44. > :04:49.to have a gold medal in the gym bag, he got back on the floor. We will
:04:50. > :04:55.join our commentators Mitch Fenner and Charlotte Still, for Kenzo
:04:56. > :05:03.Shirai, who qualified in sixth, who has his sights on a medal.
:05:04. > :05:09.COMMENTATOR: We know what Shirai can do on the floor, he is marvellous in
:05:10. > :05:20.the air and he has plenty of time, the way he vaults. Superb technique.
:05:21. > :05:32.Cutting himself off from the real world, Donnell Whittenburg.
:05:33. > :05:43.Shirai, composing himself. Starts with a six value.
:05:44. > :05:50.Always lovely technique and always fabulous aerial awareness.
:05:51. > :05:59.The first man to Quad twist on the floor in competition. Here he is,
:06:00. > :06:13.Kenzo Shirai. On vault. Qualified in sixth. A measured
:06:14. > :06:18.approach. Three twists but he didn't quite make it around. He did not.
:06:19. > :06:26.I'm not even sure they would give that. It was two at best. The
:06:27. > :06:31.tolerance is a quarter of a turn, so they might give it, but they may
:06:32. > :06:36.mark it severely. That's quite a surprise, because he usually rockets
:06:37. > :06:40.around. When he lands, his shoulders were facing the wrong way, his feet
:06:41. > :06:49.are, I think they might not give it. I don't think he made the three
:06:50. > :06:54.quarters. That's half, I think. You will be able to see, because the
:06:55. > :07:00.tariff for three twists is six, and if the judges decide he has not done
:07:01. > :07:05.three twists, they will just down the tariff, so when the D score
:07:06. > :07:08.comes up, it would be lower. Very unusual to see that happen. His
:07:09. > :07:15.aerial awareness normally is super. 5.6. As predicted, they have reduced
:07:16. > :07:39.it. 14.5. Sony needs absolute precision. He
:07:40. > :07:47.has posted 5.6 for this one. Makes sure of the twists that time. Two
:07:48. > :07:51.twists from the half turn on, not so difficult, only two twists, but at
:07:52. > :07:57.least it was clean. He made good some of the damage, but he will be
:07:58. > :08:01.disappointed. I know it is a cliche, but he will be disappointed
:08:02. > :08:08.with his first vault. He has pulled it back nicely here, though. Makes
:08:09. > :08:14.the twist, clean, a tiny walk back. That time a genuine vault. He was
:08:15. > :08:18.quite lucky not to hurt himself on that landing, not this landing, the
:08:19. > :08:25.first one, because he was completely sideways. Hang on a minute, that is
:08:26. > :08:34.a half turn on, two twists... That is 5.2, not 5.6, he needs the extra
:08:35. > :08:42.half turn for 5.6. Let's see what happens. You never know. Let's keep
:08:43. > :08:50.our eyes on the difficulty score. Yes, you can see, downgraded to
:08:51. > :08:54.5.2. Disappointment for him. Trying to play safe on the second
:08:55. > :08:57.5.2. Disappointment for him. Trying no avail. That's a shame for Kenzo
:08:58. > :09:03.Shirai. The master of aerial awareness. This man has had a busy
:09:04. > :09:11.World Championships. He has competed every day of the men's finals.
:09:12. > :09:19.Donnell Whittenburg. His presence has certainly been felt here. He
:09:20. > :09:29.really can vault, a powerful man. He has had a good competition. The
:09:30. > :09:35.double with half turn. Mr Dragulescu himself is here to see it. So many
:09:36. > :09:40.have tried to get close to Dragulescu, that was a good
:09:41. > :09:45.attempt, superb vault. It certainly was. Like you say, he has competed
:09:46. > :09:51.every day. His legs are still firing. Two and a half somersaults
:09:52. > :09:55.with the half turn out, sporting the landing really well. Down the
:09:56. > :10:01.middle. Probably a deduction for a lot chest on landing. Some of the
:10:02. > :10:07.very best, you will see them stand upright as they land. But to be fair
:10:08. > :10:10.to him, he is not the lightest gymnast, but to get the block and
:10:11. > :10:16.the push to give himself the room to rotate, it is a long way around. He
:10:17. > :10:21.is a big old boy, he handles the air very well, and he was a bit flat
:10:22. > :10:26.coming off as well, so he did well to get the rotations in.
:10:27. > :10:46.14.52, the score to beat. The average from the two vaults. Going
:10:47. > :10:56.for a very difficult vault. 6.4 posted on the difficulty scoreboard.
:10:57. > :11:09.The turn on, full twist! Back out in the second, that was magnificent.
:11:10. > :11:15.That was a smasher. Terrific, full twisting double, an amazing vault.
:11:16. > :11:21.That was a smasher. Terrific, full Well, he deserves to be on the
:11:22. > :11:24.podium. Absolutely. To get in a full twist in the first location and then
:11:25. > :11:30.to twist in the first location and then
:11:31. > :11:38.chest, but that was a phenomenal vault. So little time
:11:39. > :11:40.chest, but that was a phenomenal superb. Really
:11:41. > :11:46.chest, but that was a phenomenal top, the first twist, fixes the
:11:47. > :11:49.head, twists really well and pulls the legs over.
:11:50. > :11:53.head, twists really well and pulls seeing this move on the floor. The
:11:54. > :11:56.double back with full twist, but when you come off the hands, it is
:11:57. > :12:04.two and a half somersaults when you come off the hands, it is
:12:05. > :12:07.unbelievable. He came eighth in the all-around, fifth in the ring is
:12:08. > :12:22.final, is this is time to get a medal? 15.35. Whittenburg goes into
:12:23. > :12:26.the lead with six gymnasts to go in the men's vault final. A
:12:27. > :12:32.the lead with six gymnasts to go in of apparatus, Denis Abliazin,
:12:33. > :12:39.Olympic silver medallist, two-time European champion. He has put up a
:12:40. > :12:44.6.4, matching the difficulty of Whittenburg.
:12:45. > :12:53.So sharp and powerful, that will be classed as a fault, I think he
:12:54. > :12:58.touched with his hands. The same vault. He really went up and didn't
:12:59. > :13:08.rotate quite so well, did he? Loads of height. The full twist, grabs the
:13:09. > :13:14.legs early, just haven't got enough rotation off the top. He split the
:13:15. > :13:21.twist, he did half in the first and half in the second. No, it was a
:13:22. > :13:27.full, but it didn't pay off. An incredibly difficult vault. He
:13:28. > :13:31.really rocketed in the air. Obviously you need lots of height,
:13:32. > :13:36.but you need to snap and create the rotation. The most important thing
:13:37. > :13:40.is to go around two and a half times to your feet. He blocked and set the
:13:41. > :13:46.twist a little bit quickly, didn't he? How these guys understand the
:13:47. > :13:57.platform and get the best out of it to get that propulsion... 14.3 for
:13:58. > :14:03.the first vault. The second one will be slightly easier, 6.2.
:14:04. > :14:10.You can see Dragulescu just underneath the difficulty
:14:11. > :14:15.scoreboard, he is the next gymnast up. Quite an unbelievable level of
:14:16. > :14:29.difficulty, this vaulting final. He does the round off this time and
:14:30. > :14:38.that was super work. The round off and the flip on. Half turn and two
:14:39. > :14:43.and a half twists off, you need to be so accurate. Let's see how square
:14:44. > :14:59.he was. He certainly had good body form. He did.
:15:00. > :15:06.The level of difficulty. Very clean. Very good. We saw the girls
:15:07. > :15:10.yesterday putting one-and-a-half twists and that's two-and-a-half.
:15:11. > :15:19.You really have to get some airtime in there to be able to wrap the
:15:20. > :15:23.two-and-a-half twists in. It will be interesting to see if Marian
:15:24. > :15:27.Dragulescu, the vaulter we were talking about earlier, goes for that
:15:28. > :15:36.extra half twist he did in qualification. The fans are in. 34
:15:37. > :15:46.years old, he's back. He came back, went away again and came back. He
:15:47. > :15:56.loves this sport. The current leader Donnell Whittenburg, a score of
:15:57. > :16:03.15.35. After that first vault. Hoping for a second placing. That's
:16:04. > :16:16.where he is, 14.85. A good score for that second vault. 15.4. The highest
:16:17. > :16:25.score is 15.6 so far for that second vault that he did. Four-times world
:16:26. > :16:32.champion and three times European champion. The master, Marian
:16:33. > :16:35.Dragulescu, takes to the end of the runway. Has he still got it? Let's
:16:36. > :16:56.find out. I think he has. Just a pace back.
:16:57. > :17:04.That's the Dragulescu. He invented it. Masterful he is. He needed extra
:17:05. > :17:12.height, clean twist. He invented it and he can still do it. Beautifully
:17:13. > :17:17.done. A huge vault. Look, I like the way that Dragulescu kicks it out.
:17:18. > :17:22.Some of them just roll the shoulder but he really commits. The two
:17:23. > :17:30.somersaults. As he comes in for that last half, kicks out. Just the pace.
:17:31. > :17:37.Very impressive. A great example of harnessing power. Good, strong
:17:38. > :17:57.vault. He's at the races, that's for sure. That's a six difficulty. Will
:17:58. > :18:07.he up it for the second vault? 15.3. Looking for consistency here. He
:18:08. > :18:13.needs a total score of over 15.35. To try and regain that world title.
:18:14. > :18:20.6.2 difficulty. What a story this would be.
:18:21. > :18:27.In the beginning we saw the double twist. He's nominated the
:18:28. > :18:34.two-and-a-half. Let's see the round-off, the height, easily done!
:18:35. > :18:39.Fantastic. He was saving that one up just for you, Matt. He's back and
:18:40. > :18:46.it's as if nothing has changed! Unbelievable. Stepped up the
:18:47. > :18:50.difficulty. Saw Abliazin doing a cracking investigation of the same
:18:51. > :18:56.vault and thought, that doesn't put me off, I'll do the same, maybe a
:18:57. > :19:04.little bit better. He's delighted. It would be wonderful to see him go
:19:05. > :19:09.up into the lead. Look at this. Half turn, nice and accurate. Good
:19:10. > :19:15.height. Good line, and just that pace back from the two-and-a-half
:19:16. > :19:21.twists. Lovely stuff. Let's see how square he really is here, Chris.
:19:22. > :19:28.Really good. And he had so much height it almost overrotated. It
:19:29. > :19:35.wasn't a question of squeezing that last half in. Fantastic. So
:19:36. > :19:47.Whittenburg has 15.35. Will he go ahead of him? Oh he has done! He's
:19:48. > :19:55.got 15.4! Yes! Can he stay there? Can he get a fifth world title on
:19:56. > :20:06.this piece of apparatus? 5,999 people here who hope he does. Look
:20:07. > :20:11.at that. Well, Whittenburg still in medal contention, but I do want to
:20:12. > :20:23.tell you that the highest qualifier is still yet to come. Oleg Verniaiev
:20:24. > :20:27.got a bronze at last year's European championships. A slight frame but it
:20:28. > :20:42.belies the power he can harness. Another Dragulescu! He almost stuck
:20:43. > :20:49.that. That was just a tiny adjustment. Boy oh boy what a final!
:20:50. > :20:56.They are having a Dragulescu-off! He really stuck his feet down there.
:20:57. > :21:07.Like, OK guys, you can do it, I can do one better. A Dragulescu fest
:21:08. > :21:13.even. He's really a light, slight guy, but he plonked those feet down,
:21:14. > :21:21.I'm not moving. Pick the bonus out of that. Power, chest in to get the
:21:22. > :21:26.rotation guaranteed, and I really hope he would stick that, but a tiny
:21:27. > :21:31.adjustment at the end. Superb vaulting. Huge vaulting. Through the
:21:32. > :21:39.chest as well as the heels. Just look at that. He is the roll it
:21:40. > :21:56.round category but very effective technique for him. What's he got?
:21:57. > :22:06.15.466 execution of 9.466. That's certainly the highest execution
:22:07. > :22:10.score we've seen, so he needs every tenth of execution here, because his
:22:11. > :22:23.difficulty is down just a smidgen at six. Looks very focused indeed. Half
:22:24. > :22:30.turn. And the triple twist. The Tsukahara with triple twist. That's
:22:31. > :22:34.fabulous vaulting. A big start, a giant step forward, which indicates
:22:35. > :22:41.to the judges he was a little bit low in height. But lovely vaulting
:22:42. > :22:45.just the same. Great to see such versatility from all these gymnasts.
:22:46. > :22:53.The big double somersaulting vault and then the great twisting vault.
:22:54. > :23:02.Consummate all round ability. Look at that triple. The twist, he can
:23:03. > :23:09.rotate about any axis. A virtuoso on the vault. Well, he's virtuoso
:23:10. > :23:25.anywhere. Will he stay in the 15s? He should do. Dragulescu has a total
:23:26. > :23:33.score of 15.4. He's in the medals at the moment. 15.283 his total. 15.1
:23:34. > :23:38.score of 15.4. He's in the medals at for that second vault. There's a
:23:39. > :23:46.step forward I think. So Marian Dragulescu hangs on in there at the
:23:47. > :23:49.moment. But Se Gwang Ri from People's Republic of
:23:50. > :23:58.moment. But Se Gwang Ri from highest qualifier. He's also a
:23:59. > :24:06.member of the 30s Club. Experienced and very, very powerful. Is he going
:24:07. > :24:12.to upset the party for Dragulescu? In qualifying he did two
:24:13. > :24:20.to upset the party for Dragulescu? a 6.4 difficulty. He's got the
:24:21. > :24:23.ammunition. Look at that... Oh, superb, a Dragulescu
:24:24. > :24:27.ammunition. Look at that... Oh, some vault. A tiny adjustment on
:24:28. > :24:33.landing. That's got to be the highest mark so far I think.
:24:34. > :24:36.landing. That's got to be the cracking vault. So the Dragulescus
:24:37. > :24:39.we've seen previous have all been tucked, but look at the
:24:40. > :24:44.we've seen previous have all been leg. We lost it a little bit in the
:24:45. > :24:51.end. He could no doubt feel he was just running a little bit out of
:24:52. > :24:55.air, but the first two somersaults are beautifully straight-legged.
:24:56. > :25:01.Going into the half turn he loses a little bit of leg tension, but
:25:02. > :25:03.magnificent vaulting. Such power off the top of the platform. Conversion
:25:04. > :25:21.was so powerful. 15.6. Very, very impressive. It is
:25:22. > :25:31.one thing to have one difficult vault that you can do, but to have
:25:32. > :25:50.two of the same value of 6.4... He's very special. Se Gwang Ri with vault
:25:51. > :25:56.number two. Two gymnasts after him. Already posted a massive score for
:25:57. > :26:02.the first vault. Full of focus, half bomb, full twist, back out. Oh, he
:26:03. > :26:07.held op to that, just. Two steps. Two steps might be the difference
:26:08. > :26:16.between gold and silver. He invented the vault. He has power left. A
:26:17. > :26:25.little bit overcooked. Had to scuttle sharply to bring it under
:26:26. > :26:36.control. Smacks into the value, pulls in, perhaps a little too hard.
:26:37. > :26:41.Really wonderful. He has done bags of rotation but he just wasn't
:26:42. > :26:49.confident to stamp it out. He was still waiting to see, is the floor
:26:50. > :26:59.there? How costly is this landing? 8 10ths I think. Absolutely. Between 5
:27:00. > :27:03.and 8, I think. So that's out of your execution score, so we would
:27:04. > :27:08.expect his E score to be down a little.
:27:09. > :27:17.APPLAUSE. He's gone into the lead with a score of 15.45. Marian
:27:18. > :27:26.Dragulescu drops in to second, just 0. .05 behind him. Donnell
:27:27. > :27:31.Whittenburg hangs on in there in that third spot for now. He gives
:27:32. > :27:38.you impression he's loving to be back. Can't read it from here, can
:27:39. > :27:50.we Matt? Just directing you towards a bit of social media. Igor
:27:51. > :27:54.Radivilov of Ukraine. He knows what it is like to medal at the high
:27:55. > :28:05.level. He got bronze at the Olympics. Silver last year. Three
:28:06. > :28:13.times European silver medallist. Yet another cracking vault. In the
:28:14. > :28:18.Dragulescu Club. And just a tiny adjustment again on landing. It's a
:28:19. > :28:22.super vault. Years ago we used to dream of putting a half twist in a
:28:23. > :28:28.double, but these guys are pumping them out, Chris. It is very
:28:29. > :28:35.impressive. Legs are a bit wide apart. The judges will take off a
:28:36. > :28:39.little bit for that. Landed, you can see his head and face were down a
:28:40. > :28:44.bit, so you would expect his execution score to be a teeny bit
:28:45. > :28:48.lower. I know it sounds like we are being picky but you have to find
:28:49. > :28:53.some way of choosing between them as to which is better. We had four
:28:54. > :28:57.golds yesterday on the women's uneven bars because they couldn't
:28:58. > :29:10.separate. But here there is room for judges to deliberate and separate. A
:29:11. > :29:18.little bit low. 15.2 for his first vault. That score for that third
:29:19. > :29:26.spot at the moment is 15.35. Donnell Whittenburg. That's the value of his
:29:27. > :29:34.second vault, 6. Really going to concentrate on the execution here.
:29:35. > :29:42.He needs to lose less than 0.7, 0.6 in deductions on this vault. He
:29:43. > :29:50.knows he needs to be very nearly perfect. 20 metres they have to get
:29:51. > :29:58.the power... Double pike. It was very good but it had a pace. It is
:29:59. > :30:03.just marvellous, that's the word, the level of vaulting is just
:30:04. > :30:10.marvellous. Double rotations with and without twists. Courageous and
:30:11. > :30:15.very difficult. Every one of these vaulters... A huge vault, really
:30:16. > :30:22.well landed. Has to pull hard, get the pike in, hold on to it. He was
:30:23. > :30:25.very low on landing but held the shape through the rotations. This is
:30:26. > :30:42.a good vault. Top Bang. Not a lot of rotation left
:30:43. > :30:50.there. He used up every degree. Always amazed at how they can... How
:30:51. > :30:51.strong their ankles are to walk away from landings like that. So well
:30:52. > :31:09.conditioned in the ankle. A gymnast that has been around for a
:31:10. > :31:15.long time now, hasn't he? He has been part of the Ukrainian team. A
:31:16. > :31:21.great all-rounder a few years back. Very good indeed.
:31:22. > :31:38.The current leader, Se-gwang. Marian Dragulescu, in Silver spot at the
:31:39. > :31:39.moment. Whittenburg in third. But this gymnast is the current world
:31:40. > :32:00.champion. Hansel Kim. He did qualify in fourth, but don't
:32:01. > :32:10.let that put you off. Oh, that was a wipe-out! Such a
:32:11. > :32:26.pity. His nose was first to make contact.
:32:27. > :32:33.Se-gwang's coach is confident that's enough. He is indeed. If the
:32:34. > :32:39.judges consider that the feet did not get down before the hands, it's
:32:40. > :32:45.a zero. I think they might just say feet first, but it will certainly be
:32:46. > :32:55.a hallmark off, and a lot of deductions for not completing the
:32:56. > :32:58.vault. -- a whole mark off. A lot of energy came out of the vault. It was
:32:59. > :33:08.close. 14 scored, so Hansol Kim is out of
:33:09. > :33:22.the running for a medal. And it's all or nothing when you
:33:23. > :33:27.vault at this level. It must be very difficult for him to come out and do
:33:28. > :33:32.this, although he wants to show the world what he can do, as far as a
:33:33. > :33:39.medal is concerned... Clapping all around this arena. Everybody is
:33:40. > :33:45.willing him to his feet, not to hurt himself.
:33:46. > :34:05.Another very difficult six tariff. Much better that time. Much better.
:34:06. > :34:19.Twisted his way to... Maybe a triple. The half turn on that time.
:34:20. > :34:32.The snap and three twists off. The knee went down. Five to ate. --
:34:33. > :34:40.eight. How many times do you do these with gymnasts back in the gym?
:34:41. > :34:46.You do a lot of repetition twisting off the top of the horse. And you
:34:47. > :34:52.work in the pits with crash mats on top. So you work at realistic level,
:34:53. > :34:54.but on a service that will go down as you land, if you have not made it
:34:55. > :35:02.quite the way around. Ri Se-gwang is the world champion.
:35:03. > :35:17.Marian filming himself, filming his
:35:18. > :35:22.to this level of competition. We are well championships and he has got a
:35:23. > :35:28.silver. Four times world champion, he retired, he came back, he retired
:35:29. > :35:34.again, and now here he is at 34 years old. He went around to every
:35:35. > :35:39.single delegation, every gymnast he could find, and shook their hands.
:35:40. > :35:45.Everybody said the same thing... Good to see you back. And I'm
:35:46. > :35:51.delighted to see Dunnell Whitten Berg being commended for his
:35:52. > :35:57.efforts. -- Donnell Whittenburg. He has worked so hard and got himself a
:35:58. > :36:10.bronze. Confirmation that Se-gwang is the New World vault champion.
:36:11. > :36:18.Beth, let's have a word with you about that return to form. What form
:36:19. > :36:20.it was with Marian Dragulescu. We wondered if he could still achieve
:36:21. > :36:25.at this level. I mean, it wondered if he could still achieve
:36:26. > :36:30.not a day has gone by since he was competing last time. The first vault
:36:31. > :36:36.was insane. Me and Dan thought he was going to land it, but that is
:36:37. > :36:39.down to experience, he hasn't been competing. Dan said he has not been
:36:40. > :36:44.in competition for about two months. He has been in training, and
:36:45. > :36:49.to bring out the extra half twist... You can see in his face how
:36:50. > :36:54.delighted he is. He is in good physical shape and he can now build
:36:55. > :36:59.the numbers before Rio next year. Dan, your impression of the second
:37:00. > :37:04.vault? We did not see it earlier on with the extra half twist. To be
:37:05. > :37:09.honest, it looked easier than the vault he did in qualification. A bit
:37:10. > :37:15.of adrenaline, he was pumped. The first vault was amazing, his
:37:16. > :37:20.Dragulescu. If there are many and team don't qualify in the test
:37:21. > :37:24.event, Marian Dragulescu, because he has a medal here in the individual
:37:25. > :37:29.apparatus final, he will be in Brazil. Yes, he has already secured
:37:30. > :37:33.his own spot. Any medallist from these championships, if you are not
:37:34. > :37:36.part of a team who has qualified, they have qualified themselves, so
:37:37. > :37:45.his ticket is saved but he would love his team-mates alongside him.
:37:46. > :37:49.We are moving from the vault to the beam, a piece of apparatus that has
:37:50. > :37:53.not really changed at all over the years. We might be looking at some
:37:54. > :37:58.wonderful old footage, if we can show it. Talk us through the fact
:37:59. > :38:02.that the equipment has stayed as it is, but the moves have changed
:38:03. > :38:08.somewhat. They have upgraded the difficulty. The first back
:38:09. > :38:14.somersault was done on the beam in 1972. They wanted to ban it, they
:38:15. > :38:18.said it was far too dangerous. They fought against it and the
:38:19. > :38:24.somersaults the gymnasts are now doing, the likes of Simone Biles...
:38:25. > :38:28.At the beginning of her routine, she does a somersault with a half turn
:38:29. > :38:34.on the beam, and a spin in the clutch position. Lots of unique
:38:35. > :38:40.skills now going on, on the beam. -- the Crouch position. The dismount
:38:41. > :38:47.into the full twisting double back. Very few gymnasts do that. When you
:38:48. > :38:53.look at the difference between Nadia Comaneci and Steingruber, this
:38:54. > :38:57.wonderful dismount. The style of the routines we are going to be seeing
:38:58. > :39:03.today, what do the judges need to see? What can the viewers look out
:39:04. > :39:07.for? The gymnasts need a mixture, a forwards element, a front
:39:08. > :39:13.somersault, and a backwards element. And they need a big dismount. The
:39:14. > :39:15.sideways elements are very difficult to land because you only have ten
:39:16. > :39:21.centimetres to place your feet on to. They need a mixture of spins and
:39:22. > :39:29.leaps. The beam is usually about who can stay on in the final. Let's talk
:39:30. > :39:34.through some of the contenders. Komova has to be one of the
:39:35. > :39:42.favourites. Along with Simone Biles, who will be wanting to upgrade the
:39:43. > :39:47.bronze she picked up in the vault. Komova picked up one of the four
:39:48. > :39:51.gold medals on the bars yesterday, and Ellie Downie is so dynamic. We
:39:52. > :39:57.usually find anything does happen because so many mistakes can happen.
:39:58. > :40:03.This is the thing. In the all-around competition, the beam was the
:40:04. > :40:07.problem. Simone Biles just managed to Klingon. It proved to be a vital
:40:08. > :40:15.piece for her in the all-around. -- to cling on. It did. She knew that
:40:16. > :40:20.she was going off and she managed to save it. She will want a flawless
:40:21. > :40:26.routine today. Do you think she will go through and get gold? I think she
:40:27. > :40:32.can. The difficulty is very high on her routine, and the dismount is
:40:33. > :40:40.spot on. And she has the floor final to come later on. The last gymnast
:40:41. > :40:45.in the beam, Tutkhalian, is the fifth highest qualifier. She has
:40:46. > :40:49.really impressed, just 16 years old. A very young gymnast but she has had
:40:50. > :40:53.a lot of experience. She went to the youth Olympics last year and she has
:40:54. > :40:57.made quite a few finals there, great for her to get that exposure and
:40:58. > :41:02.that experience a head of Rio next year. We will let you enjoy this
:41:03. > :41:18.beam final and we will talk to you in a little while.
:41:19. > :41:27.A good position in seventh for Simone Biles. It is. She is not so
:41:28. > :41:34.elegant. Wevers from the Netherlands will show the exact opposite type of
:41:35. > :41:37.work. Both Dutch girls are very elegant. We will have to see what
:41:38. > :41:44.the judges favoured today. A great achievement for the Netherlands,
:41:45. > :41:49.Mitch, to have two gymnasts in this competition. The first is
:41:50. > :41:58.Thorsdottir, the eighth highest qualifier. The women'sworld beam
:41:59. > :42:04.final. The gymnasts have to use a coded mount, but that does not have
:42:05. > :42:11.to be included in the difficulty. Nicely done. Very confident on the
:42:12. > :42:12.leap into the free cartwheel and the Olga Korbut flip. A tiny bit
:42:13. > :42:23.off-line. Though, I was about to say very
:42:24. > :42:35.nicely done... The half turn onto the hands. First performed by
:42:36. > :42:37.Onodi, the great Hungarian gymnast. Very difficult to correct if your
:42:38. > :42:48.body weight is not over the beam. Those are the leaps that get you a
:42:49. > :42:51.lot of marks. The head has to go right back and you have to lose
:42:52. > :42:55.sight of the beam. If the judges think that you have and you have
:42:56. > :42:59.touched your head, they will give you lots of bonus marks. Two spins,
:43:00. > :43:09.linked together. And a third spin linked to a leap.
:43:10. > :43:13.These combinations will add up to increase the score.
:43:14. > :43:32.One error, the rest very clean and elegant. Two and a half twists but a
:43:33. > :43:35.couple of paces back. She will be a little bit disappointed, but she is
:43:36. > :43:41.not really a gymnast with huge experience of finals. The work on
:43:42. > :43:48.choreography and grace and style is paying off. Patrick, responsible for
:43:49. > :43:52.that area of work in the Netherlands, he has done a great
:43:53. > :43:57.job. Her lines were lovely. Beautiful lines, beautiful
:43:58. > :44:03.splitMac. That is her acrobatic series, the free cartwheel into the
:44:04. > :44:11.Olga Korbut flip, Lou was the first person to perform back. The half
:44:12. > :44:19.turn into the handstand. -- who was. The second leg was completely out of
:44:20. > :44:26.line. Gymnasts have to finish with a D dismount, two and a half twists is
:44:27. > :44:33.a D. So she will have got the full composition marks for finishing with
:44:34. > :44:36.a D. But you can see she was underrotating and had to take a
:44:37. > :44:44.couple of paces back, which will be costly for her. If you can limit it
:44:45. > :44:46.to one pace, you can limit the deduction to 0.3. As soon as you
:44:47. > :45:10.take the second, it is at least 0.5. You can always spot the Dutch
:45:11. > :45:15.supporters in the crowd. Even in the air she manages that grace. She
:45:16. > :45:21.does. You can see on the free walk she almost manages to see the foot
:45:22. > :45:34.land while the head is still back. Lovely touches.
:45:35. > :45:44.Well, she's 17 years old. Still plenty of time left. 12.733 for
:45:45. > :45:48.Thorsdottir. The fans from the Netherlands have a lot to look
:45:49. > :45:54.forward to, as here is her compatriot. The second highest
:45:55. > :46:07.qualifier, Sanne Wevers, the Dutch champion. Takes to the beam.
:46:08. > :46:18.Very nice, plight, easy mount, gets the routine under way. Double spin
:46:19. > :46:27.with the leg held up. Very, very difficult and very well rewarded.
:46:28. > :46:34.Free cartwheel, that's her only acrobatic series, and she performed
:46:35. > :46:41.it well. The free walkover. She held on to that. Had to take a step
:46:42. > :46:49.backwards. Sideways dance which has to be included these days. Just the
:46:50. > :46:53.single spin. Oh, and she missed the link two the backspin there. Just
:46:54. > :46:56.the single spin. Oh, and she missed the link two the backspin there. --
:46:57. > :47:03.missed the link two the backspin there. Straight into the split leap.
:47:04. > :47:10.Again those connections get the bonus points. Very nice. Changed leg
:47:11. > :47:14.leap into full turning flip. It is well balanced, this routine. Spins,
:47:15. > :47:32.leaps, acrobatics. The dismount, the straight Gaynor
:47:33. > :47:34.has to be dead in line with the beam and have the body held straight all
:47:35. > :47:38.the way around. She got through it. and have the body held straight all
:47:39. > :47:42.She may and have the body held straight all
:47:43. > :47:46.of difficulty in order to stay on, which really is the key.
:47:47. > :47:51.of difficulty in order to stay on, there, her father, and a proud dad
:47:52. > :47:56.he is too. She's always been great on the beam and she transfers that
:47:57. > :48:00.elegance from floor to beam beautifully. And that's the very,
:48:01. > :48:04.elegance from floor to beam very difficult spin. Leg held up at
:48:05. > :48:09.horizontal, round twice. Not many gymnasts in the world can do that on
:48:10. > :48:16.the beam. Most struggle with it on the floor. But these are the two
:48:17. > :48:21.free cart wheels. The judging system requires you if you want your full
:48:22. > :48:23.difficulty to link to acrobatic elements.
:48:24. > :48:31.difficulty to link to acrobatic needs to be directly in line with
:48:32. > :48:34.the beam, if it is off to one side it gets downgraded. Has to hold the
:48:35. > :48:40.body shape. Very nicely done. it gets downgraded. Has to hold the
:48:41. > :48:48.had a 5.9 difficulty to start in qualification. You said she missed
:48:49. > :48:56.one connection, so can we expect it to be down a bit from 5.9? Yes, I
:48:57. > :49:03.don't see her routine every day. A lot of gymnasts record everything
:49:04. > :49:14.they do. Will she be writing in the connection, or not? So the two Dutch
:49:15. > :49:20.gymnasts have finished. Just two gymnasts per country allowed in an
:49:21. > :49:27.individual apparatus final. It's a talking point that's always
:49:28. > :49:33.interesting, we all wonder if more should be allowed in. 14.233 is now
:49:34. > :49:41.the score to beat. Difficulty just down a little to 5.6, so most of the
:49:42. > :49:48.connections she got. The next gymnast got gold at the Youth
:49:49. > :49:54.Olympics last year. She did have a bit of an ordeal in the all-around
:49:55. > :50:07.competition on this piece. But she's certainly capable of mid to high
:50:08. > :50:17.14s. This is Yan Wang for China. And we are likely to see very big
:50:18. > :50:22.acrobatic skills here. Keep your eyes open for this first one. Front
:50:23. > :50:27.somersault with half turn... Oh, and we've seen her do that quite
:50:28. > :50:32.successfully, but she headtated. Once your feet land you have to lift
:50:33. > :50:39.the chest with conviction. Oh, and she's a little bit rattled now. That
:50:40. > :50:47.changed leg to ring, settles for the sheep jump. Now she has another big
:50:48. > :50:56.acrobatic skill here. And pride will mean she wants to hold on to it. And
:50:57. > :51:01.she does! The round-off straight-backed somersault. One of
:51:02. > :51:10.the most difficult forward elements and backwards and here's another
:51:11. > :51:15.front somersault. Sky high. Free walkover, immediate jump. He's
:51:16. > :51:31.getting more rhythm now. She was very tentative to start with. The
:51:32. > :51:38.two jumps successfully joined. Just the big dismount left. Here we go...
:51:39. > :51:46.Three beautiful twists, easily round. What a shame she failed on
:51:47. > :51:54.that first element. The thing was she went for it, she didn't hold
:51:55. > :51:58.back, because she knew if she could nail this she would be in with a
:51:59. > :52:01.shout for a medal. It is always going be with a piece like this,
:52:02. > :52:04.surely they are right on the edge of what is humanly possible now
:52:05. > :52:09.Christine? They are, and you have to do huge repetitions to be confident
:52:10. > :52:13.enough to handle the pressure once you come out here. And also if for a
:52:14. > :52:17.little gymnast like this, she's 15 years of age, she'll have had a
:52:18. > :52:21.little look and thought, I could do this. And that's always the danger,
:52:22. > :52:26.to think ahead whether you could achieve or not. She did very well
:52:27. > :52:32.with that, because the foot was only half on wasn't it. But she is a very
:52:33. > :52:37.dynamic little gymnast. We've seen here in the vault final as well. I'm
:52:38. > :52:46.sure she'll learn from this experience and we'll see her firing
:52:47. > :52:52.on all cylinders in Rio. She could well have a very successful Olympic
:52:53. > :53:09.debut. Sanne Wevers the current leader. 14.233. Con soldiering
:53:10. > :53:21.Thorsdottir. Con soldiering Thorsdottir. -- consoling
:53:22. > :53:25.Thorsdottir. We understand Wevers's coach has put in an inquiry on to
:53:26. > :53:32.her score. You can only put an inquiry in on the difficulty score,
:53:33. > :53:37.so here it is. This could be to do with this connection. She was
:53:38. > :53:42.looking at her book. She couldn't quite understand why the scores
:53:43. > :53:47.didn't match. She obviously put down all that she felt she had achieved
:53:48. > :53:52.and was working out to see what start score she expected. So in this
:53:53. > :53:57.case they will literally look back on the video? That's right. They
:53:58. > :54:01.will look back on the video and if they think they have been too
:54:02. > :54:06.generous they'll take it down. We've heard of that before. And how long
:54:07. > :54:10.do they get to put in that inquiry is this they can't wait until the
:54:11. > :54:16.end of the final and go, hang on a minute... No, before the score for
:54:17. > :54:21.the next gymnast in, so they have to put it in quickly before the finish.
:54:22. > :54:27.Before the finish of the next gymnast. So there you can see her
:54:28. > :54:32.going through all of her moves. You can see they are all letters, moves
:54:33. > :54:40.that are graded in a bunch from A to G? An A is worth 0.1, a B 0.2 and so
:54:41. > :54:48.on. If you link two Ds that will give you a bonus. They have accepted
:54:49. > :55:01.the inquiry. . The D score has changed. And it is now 14.333. An
:55:02. > :55:14.extra tenth given. From a 5.6 to 5.7 on the D score. A vital 10th no
:55:15. > :55:18.doubt. Yan scores 13.633. The difficulty score there, 6.4,
:55:19. > :55:23.considerably higher. Viktoriia Komova from Russia the next gymnast
:55:24. > :55:33.up. Gold yesterday on bars. One of the four. Incredible that, wasn't
:55:34. > :55:37.it, half of the final got golds. They are waiting for the judges to
:55:38. > :55:48.settle themselves after that inquiry. She was 8th in the Olympics
:55:49. > :55:55.in London. 8th in the World Championships back in 2011. But
:55:56. > :56:02.looking at these scores, she's capable of 14.533. The score to beat
:56:03. > :56:10.at the moment, Sanne Wevers, with 14.333, that new, corrected score
:56:11. > :56:17.after that inquiry. They've not got a green light yet. It is 30 seconds
:56:18. > :56:23.after that they have. She has such grace and style. She was beautiful
:56:24. > :56:26.on bars yesterday. She's one of the celebrated gymnasts around the
:56:27. > :56:30.world, part of the Russian team, in the Olympics 2012 she took the
:56:31. > :56:38.silver medal all-around. Beautiful technician. A little bit like a
:56:39. > :56:45.ballet dancer. But she lost that connection already. If you go three
:56:46. > :56:51.walkover, that's how you build that difficulty. A nice back flip and lay
:56:52. > :56:55.out somersault. You can see she's stylish and elegant. This is a big
:56:56. > :57:01.skill for her. She needs to be determined to hold it. Oh, and she
:57:02. > :57:15.did. She didn't give in. That was good to see. Lovely splits on the
:57:16. > :57:21.leap. Beautiful catch spin, has to catch hold of the leg and pull it to
:57:22. > :57:27.splits. Strong front somersault. She's fighting hard but she's not
:57:28. > :57:37.quite going for her landing shapes. That was slightly better. Good side
:57:38. > :57:44.somersault. Smooth and rhythmical. Got the difficult dismount to do.
:57:45. > :57:47.She's grown really quite a lot, quite a tall gymnast now. Has to
:57:48. > :57:54.squeeze the double back in and she did. It was a bit of a fight but it
:57:55. > :58:00.was great to see. Fighting for another medal here at these World
:58:01. > :58:15.Championships. Second, the Russians still to go in this final. Beautiful
:58:16. > :58:27.lines. Absolutely taken to the max mum there. Bang centre on that
:58:28. > :58:31.connection. That's so impressive, the standing Arabian. Struggled a
:58:32. > :58:45.little bit but pulled it under control. The hips back in line. She
:58:46. > :58:48.really showed all her natural ability to balance and
:58:49. > :58:53.determination. We've seen her quite often just plonk off when it hasn't
:58:54. > :58:59.gone right, so it's really good to see. Very focused and very elegant.
:59:00. > :59:07.It is just lovely to watch. She needed this and she delivered.
:59:08. > :59:20.Wrapped it up nicely. 14.333 is the target. There were a lot of wobbles
:59:21. > :59:26.and big step-back there, but it is really good to see Komova back and
:59:27. > :59:30.fighting for medals. I'm sure by the time Rio comes round she'll be back
:59:31. > :59:56.to the strength of performance we saw in London. 13.933. The coach
:59:57. > :00:05.doesn't look happy. This is Pauline Schaeffer for Germany. 18 years old.
:00:06. > :00:11.Quite an unusual mount, straddling back to the box splits position. A
:00:12. > :00:26.very clean gymnast. She did
:00:27. > :00:29.positions. Backflip layout, oh... I was about you can see the arms
:00:30. > :00:34.straight into the landing position, but she just had a little bit too
:00:35. > :00:39.much speed there. Good free walk over.
:00:40. > :00:42.I think the judges will consider those two linked and give her the
:00:43. > :00:58.bonus. Unusual little bit of dance. A very strong bubbles spend. --
:00:59. > :01:05.double spin. The gymnasts have to include at least three spins or
:01:06. > :01:07.leaps, it cannot all be acrobatic. The double spins is worth a lot of
:01:08. > :01:13.marks. A big circle of the arms but she
:01:14. > :01:32.held it under control. There we see the straight gainer, a
:01:33. > :01:41.favoured dismount. Not many landing penalties from it. It is really good
:01:42. > :01:46.fun, that dismount, isn't it? It's much harder than it looks, you have
:01:47. > :01:49.to push the hips forward, because most back somersaults travel
:01:50. > :01:55.backwards and if you did that, you would land back on the beam. It
:01:56. > :01:57.seems to be the story of this final, just fight to stay on. What a start
:01:58. > :02:12.that is. Very well disciplined in her
:02:13. > :02:16.approach. Backflip layout. We could see she was well in line there, if
:02:17. > :02:21.she had just employed a bit of body tension, she would not have had the
:02:22. > :02:29.wobble. Easier said than done when you are out on that stage. The free
:02:30. > :02:36.walk over, and the double spin is excellent. You can see how the
:02:37. > :02:42.gymnast loses sight... Easy to be disoriented.
:02:43. > :02:49.On the dismount, pushes the hips forward.
:02:50. > :03:13.She will have Komova's score of 13.933 in her sights.
:03:14. > :03:24.Three gymnasts to go, Ellie Black, Simone Biles and Tutkhalian as well.
:03:25. > :03:30.Interesting to see how important that Wevers enquiry will be as we
:03:31. > :03:33.come to the end of this competition, because we expect Ellie Black and
:03:34. > :03:42.Simone Biles to go up there. And Tutkhalian could knock Wevers out of
:03:43. > :03:50.the medals. The last three gymnasts have a lot of difficulty. She will
:03:51. > :03:54.be looking at that 13.933... Taking their time, again to do with the
:03:55. > :03:59.tolerance and the difference between different judges from different
:04:00. > :04:04.countries. Yes, the judges doing the difficulty score have to absolutely
:04:05. > :04:08.agree. Then the judges doing the execution... Not a lot of difference
:04:09. > :04:11.are allowed. They have to come up with very nearly the same score. And
:04:12. > :04:27.the same score as the jury as well. It is all in an effort to keep
:04:28. > :04:33.consistency. And in a final that is as tentative as beam is... For the
:04:34. > :04:37.gymnasts coming up, you have to try and time your warm-up to absolute
:04:38. > :04:42.perfection. It's quite unfortunate that the gymnast up next when this
:04:43. > :04:47.sort of thing happens. But it's something from a young age they get
:04:48. > :04:51.fairly used to. When you compete, you have to be ready for all
:04:52. > :04:51.eventualities, really and truthfully, at gymnastic
:04:52. > :05:03.competitions. Ellie Black wowed us at the
:05:04. > :05:04.Commonwealth Games on beam. She has one of the highest difficulty value
:05:05. > :05:21.routines. I wonder what they will be
:05:22. > :05:28.deliberating? Will it be to do with the huge wobble and whether the
:05:29. > :05:33.difficulty of the move... ? They wouldn't lose the difficulty of the
:05:34. > :05:39.move, it is more likely to be on the leaps to see whether the head went
:05:40. > :05:45.right back. The truth to jump, if your head goes right back and you do
:05:46. > :05:51.it properly, they will credit it with a D. -- the two footed jump. If
:05:52. > :05:57.you don't get the full extension, you can get nothing for it, which
:05:58. > :06:01.can change the start value by 0.4. And all eventualities in between.
:06:02. > :06:09.Sometimes it depends a little bit on where the judges are sitting and the
:06:10. > :06:13.angle they see the moves from. The judge they were showing is the judge
:06:14. > :06:17.from Ireland. Of course, you are only allowed to judge in this final
:06:18. > :06:20.if you haven't got a gymnast in it, so there will not be a German judge
:06:21. > :06:31.or a Dutch judge on the floor. She has gone into second at the
:06:32. > :06:46.moment. The beam final can now continue. It
:06:47. > :06:49.will be the gymnast use for warming up a moment ago, Canada's Ellie
:06:50. > :07:02.Black. 20 years old. Come on world
:07:03. > :07:08.champion. Canadian champion. And she can't half packed in the difficulty.
:07:09. > :07:14.She did a 6.4 difficulty in qualification, the highest of all
:07:15. > :07:19.the gymnasts in this final. Starts lowdown to the beam. All gymnasts
:07:20. > :07:25.are required to show elements low as well as high. Double spin negotiated
:07:26. > :07:32.well. Always looks a little tentative on the first element.
:07:33. > :07:45.Super high pike front somersault. Backflip, straight somersault,
:07:46. > :07:46.landing on two feet. A little wobble but she managed to control the
:07:47. > :07:57.middle of her body. This, the super difficult
:07:58. > :08:04.combination. Make or break of this routine. Backflip and somersault
:08:05. > :08:08.with full twist! She's so nearly made it! She would be so
:08:09. > :08:18.disappointed with herself. Two difficult leaps, the changed
:08:19. > :08:46.leg, and the changed leg half. Plants the feet securely on the end
:08:47. > :08:51.and on the landing. Two and a half twists, she will be so disappointed
:08:52. > :08:55.with herself. You spend hours in the gym to push the difficulty and to
:08:56. > :09:00.win medals on this stage, but at the end of the day, that is what can do
:09:01. > :09:09.you in. The same equation you have said so many times, Matt, difficulty
:09:10. > :09:14.versus accuracy. Versus elegance. The gymnasts fight so hard for this
:09:15. > :09:18.opportunity, hundreds of gymnasts here at this Championships, only
:09:19. > :09:22.eight make the final. Such an achievement to make the final, and
:09:23. > :09:34.you so want to give your best when you are there.
:09:35. > :09:41.The full twist there. She really wasn't very far off. She seemed to
:09:42. > :09:46.be square, we saw the left shoulder popped up a bit which may have taken
:09:47. > :09:51.her off, but she seemed to be accurate there. Very often it seems
:09:52. > :09:54.to be, as much as anything, your expectation as to whether you put
:09:55. > :09:56.your feet down and stand up and correct it, whereas she just paused,
:09:57. > :10:05.didn't she? down... Have I made it? No, I
:10:06. > :10:12.haven't. She was square and then you saw the shoulder popped up. Such a
:10:13. > :10:13.shame. Cracking gymnast. Very good gymnast, had a great all-around
:10:14. > :10:26.competition. Legs just a little bit loose in the
:10:27. > :10:37.two and a half twist, the judges will have a few tenths off for that.
:10:38. > :10:48.She will lock that one away to experience.
:10:49. > :11:01.Wevers is still in the lead and is guaranteed a medal. Two gymnasts
:11:02. > :11:06.left to go. See you in Rio. Great for Dutch gymnastics.
:11:07. > :11:16.The highest qualifier, can she get herself another gold medal here?
:11:17. > :11:22.Goal with the team, gold in the all-around.
:11:23. > :11:30.And we saw a very uncharacteristic mistake in the individual final. At
:11:31. > :11:34.that is such a fantastic spin. And it counts as a full spin. The fact
:11:35. > :11:39.she did two and a half did not matter.
:11:40. > :11:46.Front somersault with half turn, she just makes it look as easy as a
:11:47. > :11:55.The acrobatic series, layout, second the
:11:56. > :12:05.The acrobatic series, layout, second layout, shoulders up, not a waver.
:12:06. > :12:14.Strong in the front somersault, immediately into the jump.
:12:15. > :12:20.You can see how, by moving swiftly, she exudes confidence. Lovely series
:12:21. > :12:31.of three elements there. Nothing tentative about this
:12:32. > :12:33.routine. There might have been a wobble but she didn't let it be
:12:34. > :12:43.That anything more than a little
:12:44. > :12:47.That routine, the full twisting double
:12:48. > :12:47.That back at the end. Really a class
:12:48. > :12:53.apart. It was as solid as a rock. back at the end. Really a class
:12:54. > :12:57.She has the same difficulty value as the last gymnast going in
:12:58. > :12:59.She has the same difficulty value as final, so it's going to be
:13:00. > :13:04.She has the same difficulty value as to execution. If she can get it, it
:13:05. > :13:09.will be her ninth world title. Even when she made that tiny mistake, she
:13:10. > :13:12.whipped her leg back into the right position. Failing is not on her
:13:13. > :13:27.agenda. So impressive. The centre of her body is so strong,
:13:28. > :13:30.her core is so strong. That, off a little step jump... You have seen
:13:31. > :13:32.other gymnasts do that skill but they have run the length of the beam
:13:33. > :13:45.to get the power for it. The arms lifted immediately to the
:13:46. > :13:48.correct position. Beam is about discipline, and even with that
:13:49. > :13:55.wobble, she kept the arms fixed and knew where she wanted to be.
:13:56. > :14:01.If you watch her do the beam routine in training, every time, the arms
:14:02. > :14:13.are in the same place, there is any improvisation. Consummate.
:14:14. > :14:18.Absolutely. The beam is not sprung. She is jumping off a block of wood
:14:19. > :14:22.there. We were saying earlier on, you think of the greats, Nadia
:14:23. > :14:28.Comaneci... Her name has to be up there now as one of the finest. I
:14:29. > :14:37.would consider her very similar to Nadia Comaneci, actually. Yes. The
:14:38. > :14:41.athleticism. At times, she can look graceful as well. A strange mix, but
:14:42. > :14:50.the result is just mesmerising. With her coach, Amy, who has coached her
:14:51. > :15:01.since she was very little. And the team USA leader for the last 15
:15:02. > :15:12.years. Wevers will be delighted. So will everyone in the Netherlands.
:15:13. > :15:20.The school to beat is 14.333. She knows it is good. But how good? I
:15:21. > :15:28.think we might crack into the 15s with this score. Do you? I think so.
:15:29. > :15:34.I think she will be disappointed if not. She had a difficulty score of
:15:35. > :15:47.6.3 in qualification, so that is a maximum 16.3. And the Golden score
:15:48. > :15:51.at the moment is 15.358! She has upped her difficulty from
:15:52. > :15:53.qualification by 0.1, which is going to make it very, very difficult for
:15:54. > :16:07.the last gymnast in this final. The arena calms as Seda Tutkhalian
:16:08. > :16:15.of Russia takes to the beam, just 16 years old. Can she remain composed
:16:16. > :16:20.and get herself a medal in this world final? And the answer is no. I
:16:21. > :16:32.would say those first three gymnasts will remain now. She's got a lot of
:16:33. > :16:42.difficulty still to perform. Change leg, half turn. And this very
:16:43. > :16:50.difficult, full twist... Oh, and the hard full twist, she does absolutely
:16:51. > :16:55.wonderfully. It's a little bit like the nerves have gone now. She's got
:16:56. > :17:00.nothing to worry about, just perform, with her usual technique.
:17:01. > :17:18.Lovely height on the change leg leap. More interesting dance. She's
:17:19. > :17:23.strong and supple, a powerful gymnast. She had a little up and
:17:24. > :17:28.down championships but a first year senior and a gymnast I'm sure by the
:17:29. > :17:37.time we get to Rio will be wowing us. The big dismount, double pike.
:17:38. > :17:42.Apart from that obvious error, she didn't let it completely throw her.
:17:43. > :17:46.She kept her focus and produced a solid challenge, but it is surely
:17:47. > :17:53.not going to get her into the medals? That could squeeze into the
:17:54. > :17:57.third spot. That would be marvellous, because she deserves is
:17:58. > :18:02.it, it was a wonderful routine. We'll see. Maybe that's ambitious.
:18:03. > :18:07.But her difficult skills she performed well. It was this very
:18:08. > :18:12.first straight-backed somersault, it is right at the beginning of the
:18:13. > :18:17.routine and she didn't do it with very much conviction, did she,
:18:18. > :18:25.Mitch? No, it was almost as if she gave up on it. Such power
:18:26. > :18:34.afterwards. Such focus to get on and do this with such skill after the
:18:35. > :18:44.disappointment. She dismounted very confidently. Let's see. Had a bit of
:18:45. > :18:53.a mixed championship, the Russian team. Team. I'm sure level be lots
:18:54. > :18:58.of work to make sure they go to Rio really solid. There's been lots of
:18:59. > :19:04.promise shown but uncharacteristic mistakes as well. Look at the effort
:19:05. > :19:13.there. Squeezing round the double pike. She deserves a medal from the
:19:14. > :19:26.way she fought back from that early error. She had a 6.3 difficulty
:19:27. > :19:44.tariff in qualification. If she's up with that... You never know. They'll
:19:45. > :19:50.be wondering now, well, they are celebrating already. Tutkhalian
:19:51. > :19:56.didn't Lieke there was much chance of it being different. Good to see
:19:57. > :20:01.three gymnasts who stayed on the beam and fought well. Unusual not to
:20:02. > :20:08.see a Chinese, a Romanian or a Russian on that podium. Absolutely,
:20:09. > :20:17.China have been very successful on the beam. You can see how tall
:20:18. > :20:23.Komova is now. In 2012 she was quite a little gymnast. I think she's had
:20:24. > :20:33.to work very hard to get the work back. 13.5 and 6th place. The judges
:20:34. > :21:00.are true to their conviction of being quite severe.
:21:01. > :21:14.We are trying to persuade 10,000 people from across the UK to sign up
:21:15. > :21:18.and become volunteers at sports clubs around the country. Between
:21:19. > :21:23.now and BBC Sports Personality of the Year on 20th December. Sign up
:21:24. > :21:28.and become a volunteer. If you put something in, you get something out.
:21:29. > :21:34.Everyone here is a volunteer, including Emma. She is a young
:21:35. > :21:39.volunteer. It's great, it is called Big Help Out. Doesn't matter what
:21:40. > :21:41.your skills are. Making tea, sandwiches, helping out a,

:21:45. > :21:51.involved. There's something for everyone. So sign up and join in at
:21:52. > :21:58.the BBC Get Inspired website. Be a part of it. You and you and you, I'm
:21:59. > :22:04.pointing at different people all across the country. There's yet
:22:05. > :22:09.another first for Great Britain. across the country. There's yet
:22:10. > :22:11.Nile Wilson has made the across the country. There's yet
:22:12. > :22:16.bar final for the first time at the across the country. There's yet
:22:17. > :22:20.Claudia Fragapane and Ellie Downie have
:22:21. > :22:23.Claudia Fragapane and Ellie Downie And we'll wrap up proceedings with a
:22:24. > :22:32.Blue Riband event, so stand by for high bar. Yesterday as Max Whitlock
:22:33. > :22:36.and Louis Smith came out into this arena the stage was set for a first
:22:37. > :22:46.for Great Britain. Let's remind you what happened in the world final of
:22:47. > :22:51.the pommel horse. The stage is set. Mere is the current European
:22:52. > :23:01.champion. Double Olympic medallist, he looks calm, he looks ready. A
:23:02. > :23:07.great start. Now come on! What a performance for Great Britain's
:23:08. > :23:14.Louis Smith! A great routine. He is in the running for sure. Sure. Max
:23:15. > :23:19.Whitlock, this world pommel final. He skipped through that. This is
:23:20. > :23:26.good work. Keep stretching, young man. What a super, super challenge.
:23:27. > :23:31.That's phenomenal. It really is a final of the Britons here. Who is it
:23:32. > :23:38.going to be? It's going to be very, very close. Max Whitlock is the
:23:39. > :23:42.pommel horse Worrall champion. He beats Louis Smith into silver. What
:23:43. > :24:08.a story for this young man. 7.5 billion people on the planet and
:24:09. > :24:14.I'm winner on the pommel horse. It's been historic. Couldn't have asked
:24:15. > :24:20.for a better World Championship. The medals are here and so are the boys.
:24:21. > :24:23.Let's welcome Max Whitlock, world champion, and Louis Smith,
:24:24. > :24:28.wonderful, wonderful display. You said you were speechless there, Max.
:24:29. > :24:31.Has it sunk in yet? Mow did it feel this morning when you woke up?
:24:32. > :24:35.Has it sunk in yet? Mow did it feel feel tired this morning, to be
:24:36. > :24:39.honest. It's been a long week, but it still feels crazy. Hasn't sunk in
:24:40. > :24:45.at all. The whole week has been crazy for all of us at Team GB.
:24:46. > :24:51.You've done 20 routines and then you win the world title on your 20th.
:24:52. > :24:54.How has that manifested itself within you as you went through the
:24:55. > :24:59.competition. Even emotionally to get to Rio, there's so much happening
:25:00. > :25:01.here. I've said it a few times, you have to take the pressure off
:25:02. > :25:06.yourself as much as possible. You have to go in, know what you've done
:25:07. > :25:11.in training and know that's enough and do your job. We all had to go
:25:12. > :25:16.for it. Hopefully perform clean routines. Even if you look at the
:25:17. > :25:20.team final, the everyone made a clean routine, we couldn't have
:25:21. > :25:25.asked for more. Louis Smith, you were up first in that fifth spot.
:25:26. > :25:33.Let's look through this routine. It was going incredibly well. Talk us
:25:34. > :25:38.through. Right now I'm thinking, I need to overcome the noise of the
:25:39. > :25:43.crowd and just focus. All the hard work we've done in the gym, it all
:25:44. > :25:47.comes down to this moment. Did you know how difficult you were going to
:25:48. > :25:53.go? Yes, this is all progression for Rio. I wanted to prove to selectors,
:25:54. > :26:02.the world, the GB guys I've got what it takes in the bag to challenge for
:26:03. > :26:08.a Roy io spot. For a Rio spot. This is the bit that went a bit funky in
:26:09. > :26:13.the team final... The power with the hips to generate the speed to keep
:26:14. > :26:17.it going. I thought, stay focused and it is pretty much plain sailing,
:26:18. > :26:22.but don't mess up the dismount. You were thinking that from this point
:26:23. > :26:28.onstbhards Yes. And the power you generated on the dismount. A little
:26:29. > :26:34.flourish at the end. And that's just, I've done my job. You did, and
:26:35. > :26:40.to score over 16 is a huge achievement. Max, where were you
:26:41. > :26:45.when that was happening? I was still warming up. For me, when go out and
:26:46. > :26:50.compete I don't like to see many scores around me, as I don't think
:26:51. > :26:55.that can help an athlete to compete straight after. Me and Scott walked
:26:56. > :27:01.through the tunnel, going to the pommel horse. Scott said, what do
:27:02. > :27:05.you want to do then? I didn't know what Louis Smith's score was. We
:27:06. > :27:12.decided the difficulty and went for it. And you upped it by 1 10th. Yes.
:27:13. > :27:17.We are going to play your routine now. Talk us through this. You
:27:18. > :27:22.looked calm going into it. Yes, to be honest I felt a bit more calmer
:27:23. > :27:26.after coming off of the floor. For me the floor final was my first time
:27:27. > :27:31.being in the floor final of the World Championships, so coming into
:27:32. > :27:37.pommel I had already bagged a medal. Pause it when you see that extra
:27:38. > :27:42.tenth It was at the beginning, the one-handle work. I under it by doing
:27:43. > :27:45.an extra Russian in the one handle. So when you've got that extra
:27:46. > :27:50.difficulty out of the way, were you starting to get more excited, or
:27:51. > :27:55.more calm? More tense probably. It was like once you've done all the
:27:56. > :28:00.hard bit, with you've got to finish the routine off. It is very
:28:01. > :28:08.difficult, but that feeling there was unbelievable. And did you know,
:28:09. > :28:11.did you know, Louis. What was happening between you there
:28:12. > :28:17.psychologically as you were waiting for the score? I knew Max had done a
:28:18. > :28:21.great routine. I thought, if it is no a draw he'll beat me by just a
:28:22. > :28:27.little bit. It was well deserved, so I was praying for a draw. Don't get
:28:28. > :28:32.me wrong, I would have loved a gold medal, but hindsight is a wonderful
:28:33. > :28:38.thing. Just to have gotten through the routine, Is away relieved. I bet
:28:39. > :28:42.you were. To have two gymnasts, and you said this Louis, on top of the
:28:43. > :28:46.world here. We are talking over 16. It is incredibly difficult to main
:28:47. > :28:51.that and achieve that. You must be feeling great, the pair of you going
:28:52. > :28:56.ahead to Brazil? Yeah, definitely. Not even just that, the I think the
:28:57. > :29:01.whole team, girls and boys, it has been making history throughout the
:29:02. > :29:04.whole week. That can make us go into next year, Europeans and into Rio,
:29:05. > :29:08.with so much confidence. Really relax into it and get a feel for it
:29:09. > :29:11.as quick as possible, so we are looking forward to it. There's
:29:12. > :29:23.another world champion being crowned at the moment. This is Ri Se Gwang.
:29:24. > :29:30.We'll be pausing for the national anthem for him shortly. Initially
:29:31. > :29:35.coming into here the aim was to get to Rio. When do you start refocusing
:29:36. > :29:40.for your own individual finals and the thought of getting that team
:29:41. > :29:45.medal? It is always a secondary target. You are always thinking team
:29:46. > :29:49.first, but you have individual goals you want to accomplish along the
:29:50. > :29:53.way. When we had done with the team event and we realised the finals,
:29:54. > :29:57.you can start to do your own preparation and get the team finals
:29:58. > :30:07.out of the way and focus. We'll hold that thought as we pause for the
:30:08. > :30:11.national anthem of Korea. Ladies and gentlemen, the national anthem of
:30:12. > :30:39.the democratic People's Republic of Korea.
:30:40. > :31:08.But DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF KOREA national anthem
:31:09. > :31:39.DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF KOREA national anthem
:31:40. > :31:57.World champion on vault, ahead of Marian Dragulescu in silver medal.
:31:58. > :32:01.Whittenburg takes the bronze. What a comeback from Marian Dragulescu. We
:32:02. > :32:06.have talked about it, 34 years old, lads. It's lovely to see him back,
:32:07. > :32:12.don't you think? Brilliant. First and second have a combined age of
:32:13. > :32:16.64! I was talking to him in the training gym, he said his body feels
:32:17. > :32:21.good and his mind feels great. He doesn't stop taking selfies, so he
:32:22. > :32:26.knows it is one of his last comebacks! One of his last
:32:27. > :32:30.comebacks, that is a great line! Might as well, why not? It was
:32:31. > :32:36.hilarious seeing him with his selfie stick. Let's reflect on your floor
:32:37. > :32:41.performance, Max. Huge congratulations. Ken so she right is
:32:42. > :32:46.always going to be tough to beat. Was it all about the silver? --
:32:47. > :32:55.Kenzo July is always going to be tough to beat. I focus on my routine
:32:56. > :32:59.and I don't think about medals. -- Shirai. My first world
:33:00. > :33:05.championships, I just tried to go as clean as possible. You look
:33:06. > :33:10.incredibly comfortable on the floor. That helped me in the final, I
:33:11. > :33:16.posted two 15.7s beforehand which gave me so much confidence. I knew I
:33:17. > :33:20.just had to do the same again. And then see after that. How different
:33:21. > :33:28.did the floor area field to other ones you have worked on? Everything
:33:29. > :33:34.is slightly different. -- feel to other ones. Gymnasts have to adapt
:33:35. > :33:38.to different arenas and different equipment. It's always going to be
:33:39. > :33:43.different. You have to adapt as quick as possible. That is what we
:33:44. > :33:48.train for. That is why we train in different environments. Different
:33:49. > :33:55.types of pressure. The Bear Grylls of gymnastics! One thing you can't
:33:56. > :34:01.train for is the noise in this place. As you walk up, the
:34:02. > :34:06.difference between the screaming and then the silence, that must be very,
:34:07. > :34:12.very difficult to compose yourself. It is. It's a challenge, it is
:34:13. > :34:16.tough. One of the disadvantage of having a home crowd is having a home
:34:17. > :34:18.crowd, it is through the roof, it is electric. I had to take a moment
:34:19. > :34:26.before the pommel horse routine to tell everyone to calm down a bit. It
:34:27. > :34:30.really was crazy. So many firsts at this World Championships, it has
:34:31. > :34:34.been a joy to witness. We will show you the highlights of the team
:34:35. > :34:38.final, the best ever placing for a British team in a World
:34:39. > :34:43.Championships. Let's just go for it. We knew the potential was there, we
:34:44. > :34:48.just tried not to think about it, anything like that. Such an intense
:34:49. > :34:57.competition. I was definitely in the zone, my moment. The whole thing
:34:58. > :35:04.from the start to the end, we were relentless as a team. It was a case
:35:05. > :35:11.of putting up the arm and hitting the routine. To deliver in front of
:35:12. > :35:16.a home crowd is incredible. I lot of pressure, the first world
:35:17. > :35:22.championship, the vault was big. I was more nervous watching Max than
:35:23. > :35:28.my own job. Start of the routine, thinking, this is crazy! The crowd,
:35:29. > :35:37.it is like a constant noise, which is unreal. Great Britain are world
:35:38. > :35:41.team silver medallists! Sit back and be proud of what we have achieved.
:35:42. > :35:44.To have the competition we did, it was literally perfect. It means a
:35:45. > :35:52.lot. It was was literally perfect. It means a
:35:53. > :35:55.proud to be a part of it. Do you know, so
:35:56. > :35:59.proud to be a part of it. Do you it? That seems like ages ago. When
:36:00. > :36:07.you watch it now, how do you feel? Relieved. We have all been working
:36:08. > :36:12.for this for so long. We have been progressing as a squad. We have
:36:13. > :36:17.funnelled the team together here and we have done a job. It's a testament
:36:18. > :36:21.to how hard not just we are working but people behind the scenes who
:36:22. > :36:27.don't get the credit. This is the thing, Dan, it is such a challenge
:36:28. > :36:31.to get into this team. It is, there were only six places available. It
:36:32. > :36:35.will be even harder next year when there are only five. 15 gymnasts
:36:36. > :36:41.pushing everyone hard to get in the team. That makes us stronger as a
:36:42. > :36:45.nation. Thinking of Lilleshall, the National sports Centre, you are
:36:46. > :36:50.there and it is not just you, the women have done it as well. They
:36:51. > :36:51.made history on the very first day of the finals. This is how they got
:36:52. > :37:03.on. # Good times. As soon as we walked
:37:04. > :37:09.out, we waved and the roar from the crowd was amazing behind us. We have
:37:10. > :37:15.been training for months and months and months, we fight for absolutely
:37:16. > :37:20.everything. I was nervous going into the bars, it didn't go to plan. We
:37:21. > :37:26.just went, don't worry about it, never say never. It put me in a
:37:27. > :37:31.better mindset for the beam, because I knew I had to focus more. Becky
:37:32. > :37:38.has been keeping as calm. Whatever happens, happens. -- keeping us
:37:39. > :37:45.calm. None of us could hear ourselves think. That was the best
:37:46. > :37:52.vault I have ever completed. It was pretty special. When we got ahead of
:37:53. > :37:58.Russia after my score, I couldn't believe it. When the score came in,
:37:59. > :38:02.I was completely shocked. Kept looking at the scoreboard, it was
:38:03. > :38:07.incredible. That is a bronze medal for Great Britain! It's absolutely
:38:08. > :38:14.fantastic that we have been able to walk away with a team bronze medal.
:38:15. > :38:22.Made history. A massive roar has just gone up because Beth Tweddle
:38:23. > :38:29.has gone down to present the women'sbeam medals. But let's
:38:30. > :38:33.reflect on what the women did. You must have been aware of what they
:38:34. > :38:37.were doing. Looking back through the history of British gymnasts, for a
:38:38. > :38:41.long time the women were up there, the men took over, and then the
:38:42. > :38:45.women... Did you feel under enormous pressure to keep the consistency
:38:46. > :38:51.going, Max? Yes, there was that pressure. It did inspire us, in a
:38:52. > :38:56.way, to compete the way we did the next day. Their team is so young, so
:38:57. > :39:03.to do what they did with not a lot of experience was pretty amazing. To
:39:04. > :39:08.make the finals they made, the girls and boys for Great Britain, it is in
:39:09. > :39:11.a very good place. Absolutely. The juniors coming through, how well
:39:12. > :39:15.they have been able to cope in a situation like this. It says an
:39:16. > :39:19.enormous amount looking forward, because it does not feel like this
:39:20. > :39:23.is a flash in the pan for Great Britain. Definitely not. We have
:39:24. > :39:28.been training for this for a long time, starting about a decade ago.
:39:29. > :39:35.Beth Tweddle. Numerous World Championship medals. It has been a
:39:36. > :39:41.long time coming. Great Britain are here to stay for a long time in the
:39:42. > :39:43.gymnastics world. There are always these nations and individual
:39:44. > :39:47.gymnasts that the rest of the world seem to be chasing, and this is a
:39:48. > :39:54.fine example right here. Simone Biles comes out to receive her ninth
:39:55. > :40:00.world title. Goodness me. She still has the floor to come today.
:40:01. > :40:07.Imagine, ten by the end of today. Simone Biles takes the gold, 3 of
:40:08. > :40:14.the four individual apparatus finals. Incredible. Wevers takes the
:40:15. > :40:18.silver medal, but this moment is all about her. Beth stepping forward as
:40:19. > :40:30.well. Wevers takes the silver medal back
:40:31. > :40:39.to the Netherlands, the Dutch champion. Third for Pauline Schafer.
:40:40. > :40:47.You could see how emotional she was. She is off to Rio as well. This
:40:48. > :40:52.gymnast... It's hard to compete against a gymnast who believes in
:40:53. > :40:56.the ethos of fun. She goes out there and just has a great time, enjoying
:40:57. > :41:03.herself. How do you put pressure on a gymnast like that, Dan? That is
:41:04. > :41:06.what is so amazing about her. She is like the Uchimura of women's gymnast
:41:07. > :41:09.ticks, she seems to be winning everything but she is having fun at
:41:10. > :41:24.the same time, which is so good to see. We will hold it there.
:41:25. > :42:06.AMERICAN national anthem AMERICAN national anthem AMERICAN national
:42:07. > :42:28.Simone Biles takes her ninth title. The chance of a 10th still to come
:42:29. > :42:33.in the women'sfloor final where she will be joined by Ellie Downie and
:42:34. > :42:41.Claudia Fragapane. That is still to come very shortly, as is the men's P
:42:42. > :42:45.bar final. Exciting times again for Great Britain. Nile Wilson is the
:42:46. > :42:53.first British gymnast ever to qualify for the P bars final. You
:42:54. > :42:59.are specialist, Daniel. Your P B is over 16. Definitely. It is only his
:43:00. > :43:05.second world championship. To make the P bar final, he has such a
:43:06. > :43:08.bright future ahead of him. As far as the P bar routines are
:43:09. > :43:13.concerned, let's talk the viewers through the perfect routine and what
:43:14. > :43:20.is difficult. A great routine, you have a mixture of under bar elements
:43:21. > :43:24.and above bar elements. A lot of dismounts, double front with a half
:43:25. > :43:28.turn to increase the difficulty. Keep pushing it right to the finish
:43:29. > :43:34.and put in the extra half turn, when the landing is going to be key.
:43:35. > :43:39.Definitely. That is going to be one of the main focuses, the landings,
:43:40. > :43:43.because so many of the starts course will be so similar. Whoever nails
:43:44. > :43:49.the landing will be in with a shout. Nile Wilson and your score is
:43:50. > :43:53.matched in qualification, there is always going to be an argument about
:43:54. > :44:00.how many gymnasts should be allowed per country in the top 24, it was
:44:01. > :44:04.tough luck for Nile in the all-round qualification. It can be harsh
:44:05. > :44:10.sometimes. When a gymnast deserves to be in, it is tough when they are
:44:11. > :44:14.not. But Nile is very young and talented, so he has a lot of chances
:44:15. > :44:19.ahead of him and he will go on to do great things. In this P bar final,
:44:20. > :44:23.he has done so many solid routines in training and hopefully he can
:44:24. > :44:28.pull it off today. Will it be difficult? It has been a while since
:44:29. > :44:33.he has been in here for the team final, he has heard everything... He
:44:34. > :44:39.is fired up, isn't he, Dan? He can't wait to get out there. Definitely.
:44:40. > :44:42.He is going to be excited to be out there competing. He curbs so well
:44:43. > :44:48.under pressure, he loves the atmosphere and it makes him perform
:44:49. > :44:53.so much better. -- he curbs. We will keep everything crossed for him. We
:44:54. > :45:00.have watched you go around with a chalk bag, Max. We have got you a
:45:01. > :45:10.little present. A brand-new chalk bag! World Champion 2015 on it.
:45:11. > :45:18.Who knows whether or not that chalk is good for you, but try it out. It
:45:19. > :45:22.might be magical stuff. We are going to continue and talk about the
:45:23. > :45:31.gymnasts behind us. These are the P bar finalists. We've got some
:45:32. > :45:35.interesting pictures we are going to look at, because Shudi Deng is very
:45:36. > :45:40.interesting, Dan? Definitely, he scored a 16 in the team final, which
:45:41. > :45:47.should be unthere in the medals. It will be really exciting to watch
:45:48. > :45:54.him. His compatriot is coming out, Hao You. He was fourth at the World
:45:55. > :46:01.Gymnastics Championships in 2013. He's a gymnast capable of scoring in
:46:02. > :46:08.the 16s, Verniaiev. Hinge he's hit 16 twice already. He is so
:46:09. > :46:13.consistent on this apparatus. Danell Leyva is a master on the high bar, a
:46:14. > :46:20.master on the P bars as well. Plenty of fireworks there. I love Leyva's P
:46:21. > :46:27.bar routine. It is basically a high bar routine on P bars. 8 elements
:46:28. > :46:33.under the war. On P bars. 8 elements -- under the bar. He's had a sticky
:46:34. > :46:37.condition, just a bit off. He had a few mistakes in the all-around
:46:38. > :46:43.final, but he qualified in great position for the high bar and P
:46:44. > :46:49.bars. If he puts in a good performance he could come away with
:46:50. > :46:53.medals. And this is Verniaiev. The current world champion, current
:46:54. > :46:58.European champion as well. He's been double European champion. He's such
:46:59. > :47:02.a light gymnast. Looking at the different body types, he's got the
:47:03. > :47:07.perfect frame for this. I think so. He seems light. He's quite small and
:47:08. > :47:12.he's very powerful. He's one of the only gymnasts as well. He competes
:47:13. > :47:15.in every competition during the year, doing the all-around. It is a
:47:16. > :47:22.unbelievable year, doing the all-around. It is a
:47:23. > :47:27.that. And Max, a word from you on this man, Manrique Larduet. What a
:47:28. > :47:31.world debut he's had. I didn't know of him before I come into these
:47:32. > :47:36.World Championships. I heard the boys talking about this guy from
:47:37. > :47:40.Cuba. He's amazing. He has come from nowhere and backed a medal in the
:47:41. > :47:48.all-around. You certainly know about him now! Certainly. You should see
:47:49. > :47:52.the tattoo on his arm, it says, the return of Cuban gymnastics.
:47:53. > :47:58.the tattoo on his arm, it says, the CHEERING. Talking of the return of
:47:59. > :48:05.gymnasts, here comes Nile Wilson. Listen to that roar! He looks ready.
:48:06. > :48:10.What's it like, Max, for you to be watching these finals instead of
:48:11. > :48:15.being in them? Really nice. I feel really chilled. It is crazy but I
:48:16. > :48:20.can't wait to watch this final. It is going to be very close indeed.
:48:21. > :48:26.The penultimate gymnast on to the stage, it is wonderful the way they
:48:27. > :48:30.all come out. This is Shudi Deng, the seventh highest qualifier. 24
:48:31. > :48:36.years old. But he'll be hungry for a P bars medal. He was
:48:37. > :48:38.years old. But he'll be hungry for a year's world's. Got fourth in the
:48:39. > :48:44.floor final. You know what it is like to compete against this guy,
:48:45. > :48:49.Max. This guy picked up an all-around medal. He's in a good
:48:50. > :48:52.place. I think Chinese gymnasts always pull them out of the
:48:53. > :48:55.place. I think Chinese gymnasts They were always amazing, talented
:48:56. > :48:57.gymnasts, so he'll be putting in a good score today.
:48:58. > :49:00.gymnasts, so he'll be putting in a congratulations to the team for
:49:01. > :49:02.beating the Chinese in the team final. I bet but didn't see that
:49:03. > :49:08.coming did you? No, not at all. final. I bet but didn't see that
:49:09. > :49:19.we go with the last gymnast from the eight. Qualified last week, this is
:49:20. > :49:24.Yusuke Tanaka. He's one of the most stylist gymnasts to watch. Really
:49:25. > :49:29.nice P bars. This one is going to go right down to the wire, so we'll let
:49:30. > :49:32.the gymnasts unzip their track suits and we'll hand over to Mitch Fenner
:49:33. > :49:38.and Christine Still in the commentary box. This one is set to
:49:39. > :49:43.be a good one. The men's final in the parallel bars. For me one of the
:49:44. > :49:50.most exciting pieces of apparatus these days. The parallel bars. They
:49:51. > :49:55.swing beautifully and they've transformed the contest. The man for
:49:56. > :50:00.my money is Oleg Verniaiev. What a final, a great event. It's stylish,
:50:01. > :50:05.risky and it really has developed. . It has. It is one of my more
:50:06. > :50:13.favoured pieces now and you see them, the lights go up and on they
:50:14. > :50:22.perform. No warm-up today. Oleg Stepko. He is capable of some
:50:23. > :50:35.beautiful work. This will be a Homber. Very smoothly. Just lost
:50:36. > :50:46.form a little. Snatched the Healey. And that's the somersault. Little
:50:47. > :51:00.adjustments, which add up. Two consecutive supermarkets, which add
:51:01. > :51:06.-- two consecutive somer assaults. -- two consecutive somer assaults.
:51:07. > :51:13.-- somersault. Needs lots of flight for the tip out and delivers. There
:51:14. > :51:25.had been tiny adjustments, but you can see the skill of this man. A
:51:26. > :51:29.very efficient routine, with a very efficient landing and dismount. Very
:51:30. > :51:33.first start. First person up often sets the scene for the rest of the
:51:34. > :51:38.gymnasts, even though it is not a team. But when you get the first
:51:39. > :51:43.gymnast in a final being first and clean, it will often mean the rest
:51:44. > :51:49.work well as well. It is a super event. That's a difficult move, from
:51:50. > :51:53.the upper arms. Catch from straight arms and keep the swing. The chest
:51:54. > :52:05.has to go in to allow for a smooth swing. Difficult. This is the
:52:06. > :52:10.straddle. Front semi to catch. Everything was precise on the big
:52:11. > :52:15.moves but on the tiny moves he had a couple of falters. There's one there
:52:16. > :52:20.just in the handstand at the end of the tip-out. He's got such beautiful
:52:21. > :52:29.extension though. Toes always pointed. Not quite. Yes, the
:52:30. > :52:36.extension all the convey through. Just a little flicker on landing,
:52:37. > :52:48.Stepko. Did the foot just slide behind? Yes, but he doesn't care.
:52:49. > :52:57.And neither does he. He's happy. Stepko delivering first up in this
:52:58. > :53:04.final. First up is always hard. He's not let himself, his coach or his
:53:05. > :53:15.country down. For so long these guys dominated the apparatus, China.
:53:16. > :53:29.Interestingly, You... Stepko's score is 15.966. That's going be very
:53:30. > :53:34.tough to beat. This gymnast, Hao, he couldn't compete last year so this
:53:35. > :53:48.is a real chance for him this year. 23 years old. And he managed to get
:53:49. > :53:59.a 15.3933 in the team final on this piece of apparatus -- 15.393. It is
:54:00. > :54:02.a very different atmosphere in these individual apparatus finals. With
:54:03. > :54:08.the all-around there's stuff going on, lots of people to look at and
:54:09. > :54:16.you don't feel in the spotlight. But this, all eyes are on the individual
:54:17. > :54:24.gymnast. So second gymnast up, You Hao. He did score 15.933 in the team
:54:25. > :54:36.qualification. The score to beat is 15.966. Look for double somersaults.
:54:37. > :54:45.You can see protection on his arms. First double. Beautifully
:54:46. > :54:52.negotiated. Oh, fantastic. The extra rotation in the Suarez. That sets
:54:53. > :55:05.this routine apart. Half turn in the peach. Again it is clean. Legs
:55:06. > :55:12.locked together in the double pike. And not one small adjustment.
:55:13. > :55:24.There's a clean, the tip-out, without catch. Superb. A small
:55:25. > :55:32.hesitation there. I think he just avoided contacting the apparatus.
:55:33. > :55:39.Another biggie. Double front. Half turn, he nailed it. It was that 7
:55:40. > :55:45.8ths of a turn? I'm not sure. Such a routine from him. The judges will
:55:46. > :55:50.have to look at this incredibly closely, as they'll be scrutinising
:55:51. > :55:54.every tenth. There may have been a slight drop, and the dismount
:55:55. > :55:59.they'll look at as well. They tend to land this double front half turn
:56:00. > :56:04.deeply, and I guess that must be a bit of a deduction. Look at, that
:56:05. > :56:08.it's beautiful. How he keeps the rhythm of the swing. With Really
:56:09. > :56:15.nice, strong work. This is beautiful work. Watch this. There's the Suarez
:56:16. > :56:22.but he hangs a little bit, the extra rotation and the cuts from it.
:56:23. > :56:27.That's great control. Very original work. This is the swinging work we
:56:28. > :56:32.are talking about, where it is becoming really more like high bar.
:56:33. > :56:40.That's a real challenge from the tip-out. Cut-back after tip-out to
:56:41. > :56:47.give that extra shave of rotation. This is super this routine. It is
:56:48. > :56:51.one of the most painful pieces of operate us to master as well,
:56:52. > :56:54.because you are constantly clattering yourself, whether it's
:56:55. > :56:59.your feet, your upper arms, especially the upper arm work. That
:57:00. > :57:03.dismount, we are seeing it again. Very nice, clean dismount, but the
:57:04. > :57:07.feet are just a little... I think they'll give it but with a
:57:08. > :57:15.deduction. If it is three quarters, does it go all the way around? It's
:57:16. > :57:21.an enormous 16. .216. That is most certainly the score to beat. 7.3
:57:22. > :57:26.difficulty. Stepko down into second. Six gymnasts still to go in this
:57:27. > :57:32.World Gymnastics Championships of the parallel bars. Just talking
:57:33. > :57:39.about the comparison between high bar and P bars, this lad, Danell
:57:40. > :57:46.Leyva, certainly knows how to swing both of those apparatus. He's a
:57:47. > :57:53.former world champion on this piece in 2011. He got silver last year. He
:57:54. > :57:59.isn't tall. He looks tall, gives the impression with his swinging that he
:58:00. > :58:07.has long levers, but he is not a tall gymnast. There's a full turn in
:58:08. > :58:14.the peach. Lovely work. To one rail, but did he hold it for one clean
:58:15. > :58:31.second? I don't think so. The extra turn. He has almost a lazy approach
:58:32. > :58:39.to his swing. Stood to handstand. Big double front, well landed. Super
:58:40. > :58:45.work. He needs 16.216. Is he going to be knocking on the door of a
:58:46. > :58:50.medal? Such a clean dismount. That landing is completely blind and he
:58:51. > :58:57.really nailed it. Didn't give a lot away. A couple of flutters early on
:58:58. > :59:05.but what a level of performance. There's the Giant. Makes the
:59:06. > :59:13.handstand. There you go, the Suarez. Very nicely done. There's the coach.
:59:14. > :59:18.The father, of course, and totally involved in his son's efforts.
:59:19. > :59:20.Straight arms until the very last minute. Impresses the lockout to
:59:21. > :59:30.make the full turn. Such a hard move minute. Impresses the lockout to
:59:31. > :59:38.to time. Clean swing ing with. He was the man who made the transition
:59:39. > :59:42.from strength and static to flowing high bar-style P bars. And look at
:59:43. > :59:51.that dismount. He deserves a good score. Will it be quite difficult
:59:52. > :59:57.enough? And so does he. There he is hopping around. When Leyva retires
:59:58. > :00:06.they'll make a good partnership in sports acro. I think all coaches do
:00:07. > :00:15.live the routine but not all quite as dem on vatively than this.
:00:16. > :00:25.Not easy to spot those. Qualification difficulty was 6.9. We
:00:26. > :00:27.have already seen a 7.3, so he will need to have upped
:00:28. > :00:36.have already seen a 7.3, so he will the hunt. Will he struggle to get
:00:37. > :00:40.into the 16s? I think it will be the high 15s. It was 6.9 in
:00:41. > :00:49.qualification. Certainly the standard of the first
:00:50. > :00:55.three routines has been mind-boggling. Any medal in this
:00:56. > :00:57.final is just the most remarkable achievement. Pushing what is
:00:58. > :01:09.possible. Hydro Arena is in third at the
:01:10. > :01:17.moment. A lot of good gymnasts to come. -- Hydro -- Danell Leyva is in
:01:18. > :01:35.third at the moment. The Ukrainian gymnast Oleh
:01:36. > :01:46.Vernyayev, looking to retain his world title on this piece. His
:01:47. > :01:53.16.133, in qualifying, was with a mistake.
:01:54. > :02:03.Half turn. No extra adjustment in the handstand grasp.
:02:04. > :02:16.Healy out, super so far, not a sign of a deduction.
:02:17. > :02:23.So far, I can't find anything wrong with this.
:02:24. > :02:36.The big dismount, a hop forward. Apart from that, the judges would
:02:37. > :02:42.have been hard pushed to find much wrong with that. Mr Vernyayev, you
:02:43. > :02:47.are spectacular on this apparatus. Did he miss a link in the middle,
:02:48. > :02:54.though? I thought he was going to go out and come down and then go back
:02:55. > :02:59.up again, who knows? You can only deduct... You cannot assume, you can
:03:00. > :03:05.only deduct on what you see, it was not a clear mistake. Would it have
:03:06. > :03:11.affected his difficulty? It might well have done. He posted 7.1 in
:03:12. > :03:15.qualification, 7.2 in the all-around. Absolutely spot on up
:03:16. > :03:30.until that point. Precise. He was hitting handstands
:03:31. > :03:33.so beautifully, you wonder if he almost went a little bit too
:03:34. > :03:38.straight in order to get the momentum to go out. Anyway, as you
:03:39. > :03:46.say, you can only deduct for what he did. It's only the start value in
:03:47. > :03:52.question now, the D score. A little bit of quick thinking. Might I be
:03:53. > :03:53.right in thinking he definitely needs a medal to win an Olympic
:03:54. > :04:14.place? Yeah. He is given 7.1. He is happy with
:04:15. > :04:32.second. Two scores in the 16s. Hao, the leader. Ahead of and Stepko. --
:04:33. > :04:38.Vernyayev and Stepko. I seem to remember another final with two 16s
:04:39. > :04:44.in it. The pommel horse. All of the best ones do!
:04:45. > :04:57.Here he is, his third final. The last great Cuban gymnast, Roberto
:04:58. > :05:04.Richards in 1976... He is not doing a bad job.
:05:05. > :05:13.Swinging very clean, getting the handstand.
:05:14. > :05:32.Flowing handstand -based movements is what the judges are looking for,
:05:33. > :05:37.and look at that dismount! And you see him click his heels together at
:05:38. > :05:42.the end? What a talent this young lad is, 19 years old, he is an
:05:43. > :05:46.all-around gymnast and yet here he is, he could specialise in three of
:05:47. > :05:54.them. And what a dismount. We said if they land the double front half
:05:55. > :06:01.outs a bit low... Nothing wrong with that. The height he generated in the
:06:02. > :06:09.middle of the routine as well. That was nice too.
:06:10. > :06:19.It is hard to get your arms straight early and keep them straight. A
:06:20. > :06:23.little bend there. That's a tough start.
:06:24. > :06:32.This is the height you were talking about, Matt. Look at that, superb.
:06:33. > :06:39.He was 30 centimetres vomit in new money, a foot in old money, above
:06:40. > :06:43.the bars to clear it. -- 30 centimetres in old money. He really
:06:44. > :06:52.does look a very exciting prospect, doesn't he? He certainly does. I
:06:53. > :06:55.guess he must also be in the same situation, he got a medal in the
:06:56. > :06:59.all-around but not in the apparatus yet, and it is the first three in
:07:00. > :07:07.each apparatus that qualify in their own right. Nothing low about that
:07:08. > :07:16.gymnast in the dismount. Superb. Fourth. 15.733. 6.9 difficulty, what
:07:17. > :07:29.what a score for parallel bars in any case. All other scores have been
:07:30. > :07:33.above fantastic stuff. The next gymnast, competing for Great
:07:34. > :07:34.Britain, Nile Wilson, Junior European champion last year on this
:07:35. > :07:39.piece of apparatus. That's nice. A tiny end at the top
:07:40. > :08:03.of the handstand. -- bend. A little waver on the one rail. The
:08:04. > :08:05.technique is great. Lovely in the giant, great in the double. Smooth
:08:06. > :08:21.swing. Keep it going. Nice. The rid of the uprise
:08:22. > :08:28.connected with the height of the somersault. -- the rhythm.
:08:29. > :08:38.A little break of rhythm but this is technically very good. Tiny little
:08:39. > :08:43.adjustments there, double pike, a little step back but that was a real
:08:44. > :08:47.fine effort in his first final in the P bars for Great Britain. And he
:08:48. > :08:52.lands as the first British gymnast ever to make a final in parallel
:08:53. > :09:01.bars at a World Championships. Well done. Tremendous effort. He has all
:09:02. > :09:09.of the heart in the world. But a lot of good technique as well.
:09:10. > :09:20.Technically, a great gymnast with a great future. A nice handstand
:09:21. > :09:26.shape. Lovely handstand shape. A well extended gymnast, beautiful
:09:27. > :09:33.handstand, flat back, the extended. -- feet extended. Knees locked
:09:34. > :09:39.together, really doesn't give many marks away. His difficulty score
:09:40. > :09:45.won't be massive, it it won't be in the sevens. Look at the effort on
:09:46. > :09:57.his face. But his execution should be good. Yes. Crossed his toes for
:09:58. > :10:01.good luck there! A great effort in a first world final, and in such
:10:02. > :10:11.company. These really are huge performances. 15.233! Good job! He
:10:12. > :10:19.worked very hard at the handstand adjustments. Severely dealt with.
:10:20. > :10:26.We are in for another treat now. Just needs more difficulty.
:10:27. > :10:33.We are in for another treat now. Whenever the Chinese approach the
:10:34. > :10:38.parallel bars. You can be sure of something hugely impressive. His
:10:39. > :10:53.compatriot leads the field with 16.216. 16.066, Silver. 15.966, that
:10:54. > :10:59.would knock Stepko out of the medals. Double pike.
:11:00. > :11:24.Half turn. And a double. All from different connections.
:11:25. > :11:52.This is another Healy to uninterrupted swing. Just
:11:53. > :12:03.adjusted at the end! Healy to uninterrupted swing. Just
:12:04. > :12:08.stuff. Well, this, I think, is now going to come down to difficulty.
:12:09. > :12:14.Talking about the execution, how hard did he go? That is the
:12:15. > :12:19.question. 7.1, he posted in the qualification, the team final and
:12:20. > :12:24.the all-around. The dismount looked like it was stark, and then as an
:12:25. > :12:29.afterthought he had a hop. The work on the apparatus was superb. Superb
:12:30. > :12:36.and sublime, because he was in control. A virtuoso performer. A lot
:12:37. > :12:38.and sublime, because he was in of double pikes, all from different
:12:39. > :12:52.start positions. That was terrific. Swinging into handstand shape.
:12:53. > :12:53.Flowing to and from the handstand is what the judges are looking for.
:12:54. > :12:56.Lovely. Look at the line.
:12:57. > :13:16.nailed, didn't we, Chris? He is Look at the line.
:13:17. > :13:24.then! The coach celebrating, and his compatriot as well. He didn't quite
:13:25. > :13:31.make 16. 15.966. So close. Well actually, he is joint third with
:13:32. > :13:33.Stepko. At the moment they are sharing the bronze medal. What a
:13:34. > :13:46.final. China, one and three at the moment.
:13:47. > :13:54.Vernyayev in silver medal position for Ukraine. Stepko shares bronze at
:13:55. > :14:07.the moment. However, use a Kate Tanaka, great to watch. -- however,
:14:08. > :14:12.use UK Tanaka, great to watch. You can't write him off. That is the
:14:13. > :14:16.best version of that skill. High and clean.
:14:17. > :14:27.So much time, full extension. Chest downwards. One rail. Quite a few
:14:28. > :14:50.have had to adjust for that. Half turn swing to handstand, out on
:14:51. > :14:58.one rail, there is no connection. -- the connection. Very nicely done.
:14:59. > :15:03.Double pike. Thank you very much! What a superb landing. That was
:15:04. > :15:10.really special, that routine, wasn't it? Beginning to end. Well, where is
:15:11. > :15:20.he going to fit in among the top spots? Surely he has got to be
:15:21. > :15:24.sharing bronze, or even better? His difficulty in qualification was only
:15:25. > :15:32.6.6, so he is going to have to have upped it quite a bit to penetrate.
:15:33. > :15:37.Absolutely. I could not count the D score and commentate at the same
:15:38. > :15:42.time, but I don't think it was much above 6.6. This is the best version
:15:43. > :15:48.of this skill. Absolutely straight arms on the catch. The way the flow
:15:49. > :15:55.continued up to the handstand, smooth as you like.
:15:56. > :16:07.It was lovely work. This is the sort of dismount that you dream about.
:16:08. > :16:12.15.966 to share bronze. A tall order I think if the difficulty level
:16:13. > :16:28.hasn't moved from 6.6, but what a cracking dismount. Oh, his
:16:29. > :16:38.difficulty is down at 6.6. 15.6 is the final score. Tanaka in seventh.
:16:39. > :16:49.So Hao You is the new world champion. Fourth back in 2003.
:16:50. > :16:53.Silver medallist on the rings, but Oleg Verniaiev, he came here as the
:16:54. > :17:07.world champion. He settles for silver. And the bronze is shared
:17:08. > :17:14.between Oleg Stepko and Shudi Deng. What a super final. I've come to
:17:15. > :17:18.really enjoy that apparatus. Stepko was the first gymnast up. He gave
:17:19. > :17:23.them the target to aim for and he piled the pressure on. He just
:17:24. > :17:31.produced the most wonderful parallel bars final. We'll see confirmation
:17:32. > :17:46.of the final result. Every single gymnast producing their very best.
:17:47. > :18:01.Hao You, 16.216. If you had said, Mitch, two gymnasts on the today um
:18:02. > :18:06.why in the 16s... Nile Wilson finishes 8th but a wonderful
:18:07. > :18:10.performance from him. The first British gymnast to make the parallel
:18:11. > :18:16.bars final at the world championships. Nile, bottom of the
:18:17. > :18:20.final but it is a historic participation for a British man in a
:18:21. > :18:26.parallel bars final. How happy are you just to be there? Extremely
:18:27. > :18:31.happy. This week has been incredible for British gymnastics as a whole. I
:18:32. > :18:38.knew it was going to be tough to get in the places but I think this week
:18:39. > :18:42.has shown gymnastics is so unpredictable and hit or miss. I was
:18:43. > :18:45.happy to be in the final, an historic event. I'm proud to
:18:46. > :18:50.represent my country out there today. The commentators were talking
:18:51. > :18:55.about the standard, it was extremely high. What was it like watching the
:18:56. > :19:00.guys perform ahead of you? Massive inspiration and motivation for me.
:19:01. > :19:06.I'm just proud to actually be in the top 8 in the world on parallel bars.
:19:07. > :19:11.As a nation we've been on parallel bars as much as being not so strong,
:19:12. > :19:14.and I'm glad I can step up and prove that we are fantastic on the
:19:15. > :19:21.parallel bars. The message I want to get across this week is how well
:19:22. > :19:25.British gymnastics have done. In 2006 at the Olympics I was sitting
:19:26. > :19:30.at home as a boy watching Louis Smith. It has given us the belief as
:19:31. > :19:33.a nation that we can come to these competitions and compete with the
:19:34. > :19:37.best of the world. All the kids watching at home, get to the gym
:19:38. > :19:41.tomorrow, work your hardest and pull together as a country and we can be
:19:42. > :19:45.world champions one day. You've provided a lot of inspiration. You
:19:46. > :19:52.look like you've been enjoying it out there. Coming out, after the
:19:53. > :19:56.team you did the same. You've enjoyed it here haven't you? It's
:19:57. > :20:01.been unbelievable. With the home Games, coming here with the crowd
:20:02. > :20:04.behind you, not many people get to experience that. I've second up
:20:05. > :20:10.every moment and used that crowd and that support. I want to say everyone
:20:11. > :20:13.who has came and supported. The messages on social media. It is all
:20:14. > :20:21.fantastic. I've loved every second of it. Nile, thank you very much.
:20:22. > :20:26.Thank you. And well done to Nile. Very well said, I must say. If he's
:20:27. > :20:30.inspired you, he said get down to the gym. Head to our BBC website,
:20:31. > :20:34.because we'll put lots of information on there on how you can
:20:35. > :20:40.get inspired. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. Here comes
:20:41. > :20:46.Claudia Fragapane, ready for the women's floor final. She took gold
:20:47. > :20:51.here at the Commonwealth games here at the SSE Hydro on this piece of
:20:52. > :20:55.apparatus, as well as another three golds to boot. Ellie Downie also
:20:56. > :21:00.competing in the women's floor final. She will be up very shortly.
:21:01. > :21:09.In fact she's coming now. CHEERING. And what a competition
:21:10. > :21:12.Ellie has been having here at the world championships. It is a
:21:13. > :21:17.wonderful celebration. It feels like a great final day. Everybody is
:21:18. > :21:23.thoroughly enjoying watching these gymnasts, the finest in the world,
:21:24. > :21:30.with great British gymnasts among them. If we can have a quick word
:21:31. > :21:34.ahead of this final. You were world champion in 2009. I know you are
:21:35. > :21:39.always asked about your music and how you design these routines. Give
:21:40. > :21:43.us a nod what we are about to see here? When the gymnasts choose the
:21:44. > :21:46.music and the choreography, most of the time the gymnasts will bring in
:21:47. > :21:49.an external choreographer. With regards to the music it can be a
:21:50. > :21:54.combination between the gymnasts and the coach. For me it was very much
:21:55. > :21:58.Amanda always chose my music. The music I used in 2009 for this floor
:21:59. > :22:02.routine was specially composed. music I used in 2009 for this floor
:22:03. > :22:08.London 2012 I wanted something big and British, so I chose Live and Let
:22:09. > :22:13.Die. As far as the difficulty versus the dance elements are concerned,
:22:14. > :22:17.because it is always a difficult conundrum to get that makes right.
:22:18. > :22:22.Ndrum to get that makes right. -- to get that mix right. The judges will
:22:23. > :22:26.get that mixture, but we have amazing tumblers. The floor has
:22:27. > :22:30.changed over four years, so the tumbles you will see are what some
:22:31. > :22:34.of the lads are doing. Especially with Simone and the first Japanese
:22:35. > :22:39.girl, you can expect superb tumbling. With the artistry, there's
:22:40. > :22:44.a deduction for it if they don't like it. Let's settle in and enjoy
:22:45. > :22:52.the women's floor final. The first gymnast up is Sae Miyakawa from
:22:53. > :22:57.Japan. Second highest qualifier. And the whole of the Japanese women's
:22:58. > :23:13.team wowed us with their flew review teens, but this one was totally
:23:14. > :23:24.exceptional. Very big first tumble. Full twisting double straight.
:23:25. > :23:35.Watch out, guys, for this next tumble. Very unusual for the girls.
:23:36. > :23:50.Straight front. Double front. Just a little pace. Nicely performed leaps.
:23:51. > :23:56.And bear had mind this is the third tumble.
:23:57. > :24:19.And bear had mind this is the third twisting, double tuck.
:24:20. > :24:24.Very classy performance into this big final tumble. Double straight,
:24:25. > :24:34.superb landing. What an opening big final tumble. Double straight,
:24:35. > :24:37.this women's floor final. Well, that is the bench mark. Goodness
:24:38. > :24:49.this women's floor final. Well, that follow that if you can. Quite
:24:50. > :24:54.exceptional tumbling and a very well-controlled performance, the
:24:55. > :25:03.leaps were good. Really going to be difficult to beat. So
:25:04. > :25:04.leaps were good. Really going to be love this. Incredible work. Full
:25:05. > :25:09.twist and the double love this. Incredible work. Full
:25:10. > :25:13.keeps form all the way. So love this. Incredible work. Full
:25:14. > :25:15.this for the love this. Incredible work. Full
:25:16. > :25:21.tumble forwards this. Unfortunately she had a little step on both
:25:22. > :25:29.landings. Great to see it. Discipline. In the twisting, double
:25:30. > :25:41.twisting-double. Was that a third tumble? Quite unbelievable. Finishes
:25:42. > :25:47.with a double straight. She just whips it round. Great stuff. Looked
:25:48. > :25:50.with a double straight. She just like she was landing a single
:25:51. > :26:02.straight back there didn't it? Really very impressive. Japan were a
:26:03. > :26:16.very good team here. Fingers crossed, my friend, there's yet
:26:17. > :26:31.another medal for Japan. 14.9 in qualification. 14.633 in the final.
:26:32. > :26:36.A 14.933 for Miyakawa. Time will tell if it is good enough for a
:26:37. > :26:40.world medal. It is going to take a lot of beating. One of the headline
:26:41. > :26:45.questions that's only been written since the last Keats of apparatus,
:26:46. > :27:01.can Simone Biles get herself a 10th world title? It's time to find out.
:27:02. > :27:15.So sprightly and fast. Another super double straight with full twist.
:27:16. > :27:18.Needs to control this tumble. Double straight with half turn, jump, and
:27:19. > :27:55.she just stays in this time. And dance ing with great conviction
:27:56. > :27:55.as well as tumbling. Another double-double, double somersault,
:27:56. > :28:15.double twist. Just needs this big full-twisting
:28:16. > :28:23.double back. Not a flicker on any of the landings. What a joy to watch.
:28:24. > :28:29.Perfectly in time at the end there as she just bounces up on to the top
:28:30. > :28:34.spot and gets that 10. That dream, goodness me, to be world champion
:28:35. > :28:41.for the tenth time in a career which, let's be honest, isn't that
:28:42. > :28:46.long. She's only 18! Well, didn't compete, wasn't old enough to
:28:47. > :28:53.compete at the last Olympics. Has been dominant ever since. Double
:28:54. > :29:02.straight. That's, I love the way she does that. The landing immediate
:29:03. > :29:11.into the jump ups her start value. Clever choreography.
:29:12. > :29:19.She's so light through the hands, isn't she? When she flips she
:29:20. > :29:24.bounces off her hands so quickly. I just, bounce up into the air, chest
:29:25. > :29:32.up. That's the fourth tumble. Quite amazing. We were impressed with the
:29:33. > :29:40.first team in terms of doubling but how can anyone ever match that? That
:29:41. > :29:49.was just incredible. A cheekily little finish isn't it? It is. Well,
:29:50. > :29:55.if she gets to the mid 15s here she's going to be unstoppable. She
:29:56. > :30:02.posted a difficulty of 6.9 in qualification. If you think the
:30:03. > :30:09.previous gymnast had a 6.3. And that was the next highest difficulty
:30:10. > :30:18.score. You were saying earlier that she enjoys, and she did. She's got
:30:19. > :30:22.to enjoy that. A 15.8. That is a record tenth world title for Simone
:30:23. > :30:31.Biles. What a World Championships it's been for her. However, it would
:30:32. > :30:34.take a miracle to beat it, but let's not confirm it until every gymnast
:30:35. > :30:49.has performed. New Enjoy this routine, very, very
:30:50. > :30:51.different. Wevers, in four Steingruber, who injured her knee on
:30:52. > :30:59.vault yesterday. Has to land the tumbles really well.
:31:00. > :32:13.She does. Double tuck. Well, a really classy, beautiful
:32:14. > :32:17.routine. Completely different from the previous two. Only did two
:32:18. > :32:21.tumbles, and the rest of her difficulty was made up with spins
:32:22. > :32:24.and leaps. But beautifully performed. Wonderfully accurate. So
:32:25. > :32:39.graceful, so elegant. The majority of gymnasts have most
:32:40. > :32:44.of their deductions on the landings, so by only doing two tumbles, she
:32:45. > :32:49.only allows the judges to deduct on two occasions. One was an absolutely
:32:50. > :32:56.spot on landing, for which there would be no deductions. This, chest
:32:57. > :33:01.right up, not a flicker. And the next, the two and a half, she did
:33:02. > :33:04.have a little step. And she probably will have had a bit of a deduction
:33:05. > :33:19.for legs apart. Perhaps 0.3 overall. Right up on the toes, on the spins.
:33:20. > :33:20.Makes it a much more interesting and varied final when you see the
:33:21. > :33:28.different styles. Absolutely. Shows you the different facets of
:33:29. > :33:39.the floor routine. Really does sell it through the
:33:40. > :33:48.choreography, the grace and elegance. And there's quite a lot of
:33:49. > :33:56.marks given for choreography. Give yourself a round of applause.
:33:57. > :34:22.Third-highest qualifier coming into this women's four final. -- floor
:34:23. > :34:26.final. One of the success stories of this Championships, one of the
:34:27. > :34:37.emerging gymnasts. A big tumble. Double Dumble. -- double double.
:34:38. > :34:43.And though we are, the full twist and the double back. Two hugely
:34:44. > :34:49.difficult tumbles. Showing splits really beautifully in
:34:50. > :35:10.the leaps. Moves matching the music. Full in
:35:11. > :35:40.pike this time. Turns straight into a tumble. Big
:35:41. > :35:47.double tuck, just a little hop to finish. Very efficient. Didn't give
:35:48. > :36:01.very much away at all. Well, she's looking for a score... 14.1 to join
:36:02. > :36:07.Wevers in third. She is going to have to be up in the high 14s to
:36:08. > :36:12.hang onto a medal. She has good tumbling, not exceptional, good
:36:13. > :36:21.leaps, not exceptional, but she does marry the two together quite nicely.
:36:22. > :36:27.Good shapes in the air, knees tucked together, the double double. The
:36:28. > :36:33.floor is together, the double double. The
:36:34. > :36:40.are now starting to manage to really use the springs well. We are seeing
:36:41. > :36:43.some truly exceptional tumbling. See how quickly they get off their hands
:36:44. > :36:47.and up into the twisting somersaults and double backs. It's
:36:48. > :36:51.and up into the twisting interesting, seeing her landing, she
:36:52. > :36:56.is putting one leg down ahead of the other, because she had a really bad
:36:57. > :37:02.knee a few years ago and took almost a year off. Quite deliberate. Now
:37:03. > :37:06.there will be a deduction for it, but probably 0.1, and she is not
:37:07. > :37:15.actually stepping, so she is probably living with that deduction.
:37:16. > :37:26.Chest up, so well. Old upright. -- bolt upright.
:37:27. > :37:35.She'd be happy to see first and second, USA. That is the situation
:37:36. > :37:39.at the moment, Chris. 15 scored. Wow, I tell you what, that is going
:37:40. > :37:48.to be a tough scored to be for second. Afanaseva is next up, the
:37:49. > :37:52.fourth highest qualifier. Claudia Fragapane will be after her, and
:37:53. > :37:59.then Ellie Downie and Yang from China. Still a lot of gymnastics in
:38:00. > :38:04.this women's floor final. This gymnast knows what it feels like to
:38:05. > :38:09.be world champion on this piece of apparatus. Current European gold
:38:10. > :38:15.medallist. The world champion in 2011 starts with a very difficult
:38:16. > :38:23.jump. Beautifully flighted double straight, just a pace.
:38:24. > :38:39.She stands on two feet... Gymnasts are only allowed one tumble from two
:38:40. > :38:41.feet, but what a Campbell it is, whip into a triple twist. -- what a
:38:42. > :38:57.tumble. That tumble off one foot. Very nice
:38:58. > :39:31.little jump afterwards. Quite a mature performance. Left
:39:32. > :39:38.something in the locker for the final tumble. Well, the heat is on,
:39:39. > :39:44.and what a graceful battle this is proving to be. A lovely mix there.
:39:45. > :39:52.Everything in balance, under control. Some spectacular work, some
:39:53. > :39:55.grace and elegance. Lovely. The powers that be in international
:39:56. > :40:00.gymnastics have very much been trying to find a formula to bring
:40:01. > :40:04.back more emphasis on the dance and the performance side. And I would
:40:05. > :40:09.say, so far, we are seeing that from this final.
:40:10. > :40:26.This is that tumble, the two whips, flip, triple twist. So accurate.
:40:27. > :40:35.Just a little cross-legged. The judges will have a 10th deduction
:40:36. > :40:56.for that. But a really beautiful floor routine.
:40:57. > :41:09.Lovely hi double pike. Confidently landed.
:41:10. > :41:36.15.1! Well, she has knocked Maggie Nichols off the silver medal at the
:41:37. > :41:42.moment, but she is still in with a chance of bronze. Goodness me, what
:41:43. > :41:48.an upset from the former world champion. She has split the two
:41:49. > :41:52.gymnasts from the USA. The next gymnast to go is Claudia Fragapane
:41:53. > :41:59.from Great Britain. She took Commonwealth gold here in the Hydro
:42:00. > :42:03.Arena. She does have a difficulty score of 6.3. She absolutely knows
:42:04. > :42:09.she has to be faultless today. A big first tumble, double straight
:42:10. > :43:00.with full. Wow, what a landing. Unusual butterfly into the corner.
:43:01. > :43:13.Another very difficult tumble. Triple twist, really does well.
:43:14. > :43:25.The big final tumble, double straight! Oh, she stepped out, what
:43:26. > :43:36.a shame. Well, she finishes with a spin, and
:43:37. > :43:42.what a World Championships it has been for Claudia Fragapane.
:43:43. > :43:45.Fantastic performance. Normally would be a winning performance, but
:43:46. > :43:57.we have seen such wonderful work already. Faultless work. 15 needed
:43:58. > :44:04.to share bronze at this stage. It is a big ask, but at least the brakes
:44:05. > :44:12.were working! It is a big ask. She is greeted by her coach. Claudia,
:44:13. > :44:18.from Bristol Walks gymnastics. Look at this, high, just a bit too much
:44:19. > :44:28.energy but didn't she do well to bring it back?
:44:29. > :44:37.It is difficult for the gymnasts when they've come in cold to this
:44:38. > :44:43.Arena. She did really well. Four hugely difficult tumbles. Just gave
:44:44. > :44:51.this a tiny bit too much. Won't be a huge deduction but it will be a
:44:52. > :45:02.point one. She's got such power and joy and exuberance in the
:45:03. > :45:20.performance. Takes an age, drifts to the floor.
:45:21. > :45:28.The way she presents it. Beautiful. He's done hugely well. 14.466 for
:45:29. > :45:47.Claudia Fragapane. She's in Listen to the roar as Ellie Downie
:45:48. > :45:53.is introduced to the crowd. CHEERING. I'm sure it won't have
:45:54. > :46:01.escaped people's notice she's wearing the same leotard as Beth did
:46:02. > :46:10.in 2009, when she won. And has the aim opening tumble. Here it comes,
:46:11. > :46:14.enormously difficult. aim opening tumble. Here it comes,
:46:15. > :46:27.into double Arabian. Wow! aim opening tumble. Here it comes,
:46:28. > :46:42.landing. And back with another enormous tumble. Double piked
:46:43. > :46:46.Arabian. What a controlled finish. Confidently throw the leaps. Sh.
:46:47. > :46:50.Confidently throw the leaps. -- through the leaps. Two -and-a-half
:46:51. > :47:07.twists into a front somersault. Just this final tumble. It's
:47:08. > :47:22.full of energy, full of verve. Double pike. Very good. A big final
:47:23. > :47:27.leap. What a performance from Ellie Downie throughout this
:47:28. > :47:35.championships. She really didn't giver anything away then. 15 is the
:47:36. > :47:47.score. That's what she's hoping for to get a medal. Big, accurate
:47:48. > :47:53.tumbling. Really accurate tumbling. Becky from Nottinghamshire
:47:54. > :47:58.gymnastics club. She doesn't have all the star value. 6 in difficulty
:47:59. > :48:03.but what she is down on difficulty she made up with for her
:48:04. > :48:09.performance. It was really clean. Should and she obviously enjoyed it
:48:10. > :48:17.as well. So many lovely touches. This is incredibly impressive. I've
:48:18. > :48:25.seen it somewhere before, Chris. Certainly mid to high 14s. Ellie is
:48:26. > :48:31.a really powerful, spatially aware gymnast. To be able to come out at
:48:32. > :48:36.this huge double pike Arabian and meet the floor. Exactly that. She
:48:37. > :48:49.knew exactly where the floor was. She
:48:50. > :48:51.knew exactly where the floor was. You get extra marks for the leap
:48:52. > :48:57.out. 0.1 extra, and You get extra marks for the leap
:48:58. > :49:06.for the landing either. We don't want to rush the judges here, do we
:49:07. > :49:07.for the landing either. We don't Chris? Absolutely not. Whatever
:49:08. > :49:11.happens here, she's Chris? Absolutely not. Whatever
:49:12. > :49:17.achieved what she came for. They're off to Rio. They've made history as
:49:18. > :49:31.a team. And she was a very big part of that. 14.733. What a score in
:49:32. > :49:43.this company. Brilliant. So the last gymnast in this women's floor final
:49:44. > :49:48.at the world championships, a late entrant into this final, ranked in
:49:49. > :49:56.11th, but be prepared to be entertained. Unusual tumbling. Also
:49:57. > :50:01.very difficult. Can these twists, one, two, three-and-a-half into a
:50:02. > :50:10.punch front. Worth just as much as the full twisting double straight.
:50:11. > :50:17.And this is another very complex and big tumble. One-and-a-half, she
:50:18. > :50:29.walks out of it. Straight into triple twist and punch front
:50:30. > :50:41.forward. Those spins were fast enough and controlled.
:50:42. > :50:52.This time two-and-a-half into the front half turn. The young gymnast,
:50:53. > :50:59.19 years old. She's really improved with every performance we've seen
:51:00. > :51:05.from her. We haven't had a double rotation yet. Must have a double
:51:06. > :51:14.tuck, double pike. She does, lifts the chest confidently. Spin to
:51:15. > :51:21.finish. APPLAUSE. Very efficient. Exciting
:51:22. > :51:28.too. Lovely floor exercise. So light, the way she just danced her
:51:29. > :51:32.way around the floor area and then this power comes from somewhere.
:51:33. > :51:37.She's so slight. Very slight. You think of her being tiny but she just
:51:38. > :51:45.hugged Simone Biles and they are the same size. You do think she's hugged
:51:46. > :51:57.Claudia and she'll be taller. Yes! So she's slight but she's got
:51:58. > :52:03.enormous power. If anybody is interested, she's 4'7" inches tall.
:52:04. > :52:09.Just a shade shorter than me. She can twist really well. This is a
:52:10. > :52:14.clever routine. Triple twist and immediate punch front, so there's no
:52:15. > :52:17.landing deductions. That's the secret here for the scores. Get rid
:52:18. > :52:24.of the deductions and add the difficulty in. A bit of an
:52:25. > :52:28.unorthodox arm position in the spin. The ballet teachers would rather the
:52:29. > :52:34.arms were up. Did you notice her eyes were closed as well? Were they?
:52:35. > :52:37.So she definitely wasn't spotting that spin. Two-and-a-half. She
:52:38. > :52:44.spotted over the shoulder for the landing there. Seems to fail to
:52:45. > :52:48.present a bit at the end of her tumbles. You are a bit surprised
:52:49. > :52:53.that she landed them. The only thing lacking is the confidence in
:52:54. > :53:02.presentation. I would agree. And it is strange music for a slight
:53:03. > :53:06.gymnast. But in terms of wonderful tumbling and few execution faults,
:53:07. > :53:16.it's all there. Is it good enough for a medal? The target is 15. She
:53:17. > :53:21.was fourth in the all-around. It won't be good enough to beat Simone
:53:22. > :53:23.Biles, who is waiting for confirmation she is ten-times world
:53:24. > :53:48.champion. The British girls have worked
:53:49. > :53:52.fantastically on all pieces. . It's been a tremendous championships for
:53:53. > :53:56.them. We've spent quite a bit of time waiting for judges throughout
:53:57. > :54:00.this competition, which means there a quite a hefty overrun, so we won't
:54:01. > :54:03.have time to finish the entire high bar competition which is coming up
:54:04. > :54:09.shortly. But for continued coverage of that, if you go to the website
:54:10. > :54:15.you will be able to see uninterrupted coverage all the way
:54:16. > :54:20.to the end of the medals ceremonies. 14.933 for Chunsong Shang. Just
:54:21. > :54:27.outside of the medals but that's confirmation that Simone Biles is
:54:28. > :54:39.the world champion on floor, and ten-times world champion! Kseniia
:54:40. > :54:43.Afanaseva for Russia takes the silver, former champion in 2011.
:54:44. > :54:47.There has been an inquiry put in from the Chinese. At the moment
:54:48. > :54:57.Maggie Nichols has the bronze medal, but we may just have to wait a
:54:58. > :55:03.moment. Chunsong Shang currently is tying in that fourth medal place
:55:04. > :55:06.with Sae Miyakawa, the first Japanese gymnast up in this final.
:55:07. > :55:11.Celebrations haven't started just yet. We are just waiting. This will
:55:12. > :55:17.be on the difficulty score again. Yes, you can only protest on the
:55:18. > :55:21.difficulty score, the D score. So each coach and gymnast goes into the
:55:22. > :55:30.competition knowing what they expect to be awarded. They obviously
:55:31. > :55:37.expected a 6.5 or a 6.6 instead of a 6.4, which is what they've got. And
:55:38. > :55:43.she is scoring 14.933. Third place is 15.000, so 0.1 would do it, take
:55:44. > :55:54.her above, and would knock Maggie Nichols out of the medals, so a
:55:55. > :55:59.tentative wait for Chunsong Shang and Maggie Nichols. Her
:56:00. > :56:04.qualification difficulty was 6.4, so she must have thought she increased
:56:05. > :56:08.something. You can see the judges in their little booths. They are
:56:09. > :56:20.sitting apart in booths at eyelevel with the floor area. Will it be one
:56:21. > :56:27.and three USA or one and three USA, China. Actually hang on a minute, if
:56:28. > :56:35.it is 0.1 it will go up. No, it's been rejected. That's it, the
:56:36. > :56:41.inquiry is over. There's your champion, Simone Biles. Kseniia
:56:42. > :56:47.Afanaseva takes silver and Maggie Nichols for the USA gets bronze here
:56:48. > :56:52.in this women's world floor final. Ellie Downie finishes in sixth.
:56:53. > :57:00.Claudia Fragapane for Great Britain in seventh. We are overrunning here
:57:01. > :57:03.at the World Championships, so we are going to have to cut our
:57:04. > :57:08.coverage short here on BBC Two before the end of the men's high bar
:57:09. > :57:12.final. If you would like to watch continued coverage of these World
:57:13. > :57:17.Championships and go to the BBC Sport website, where you can join us
:57:18. > :57:29.on the dismount until the end of the medals ceremonies. Mitch, let's now
:57:30. > :57:35.turn our attention to the men's high bar final. This is an event that's
:57:36. > :57:41.been revolutionised. It is all to do with the man that we are going to
:57:42. > :57:50.see here, back in 2004, the Athens Olympics. This is Nemov. I remember
:57:51. > :57:56.this routine so well. Count the release's. In those days, you didn't
:57:57. > :58:11.get credit the more difficulty you did. Unbelievable. And all of this
:58:12. > :58:18.courage and everything, he is just showing here courage in bucket
:58:19. > :58:22.loads. He said goodbye to the perfect 10 here. A Canadian guy was
:58:23. > :58:37.working on a new system and this gave him the opportunity. It would
:58:38. > :58:42.reward the more difficult stuff. And this man, the audience just went
:58:43. > :58:46.into uproar and Alexsei had to go back on the podium and say, calm
:58:47. > :58:50.down, calm down, the competition must go on. It was unbelievable. And
:58:51. > :58:54.down, calm down, the competition Dan, we are going to bring you in,
:58:55. > :59:01.because for you as a concern British gymnast working on high bar routines
:59:02. > :59:07.as well, these days how is courage awarded? You get a lot of courage
:59:08. > :59:17.rewarded now by connecting the big res leases such as the coverages,
:59:18. > :59:21.double somersaults to catch, and then to handstand and connecting
:59:22. > :59:25.that with a releasing catch. The gymnasts are being introduced behind
:59:26. > :59:29.you as you are talking, but from a gymnast's perspective how do you
:59:30. > :59:34.approach high bar? Do you love it or are you terrified? I absolutely love
:59:35. > :59:37.high bar. You get such a big adrenaline rush even when training
:59:38. > :59:39.over a foam it. I love to try anything and everything on the high
:59:40. > :59:44.bar to see what I can do. Danell anything and everything on the high
:59:45. > :59:48.Leyva is just being introduced. He certainly knows how to release and
:59:49. > :59:50.catch. He's the second of the American gymnasts in this final.
:59:51. > :00:00.Christopher Brooks went ahead of him. We are going to have Kohei
:00:01. > :00:04.Uchimura, he is about to come out. We've seen him have problems on the
:00:05. > :00:06.high bar but managed to compose himself for that all-around title.
:00:07. > :00:10.high bar but managed to compose What a high bar routine he put in
:00:11. > :00:15.there. Definitely. I think we are going to see him up the start value
:00:16. > :00:19.even more today. I've seen him do connection with the releasing
:00:20. > :00:24.catches in training. He did qualify with a second highest score. We'll
:00:25. > :00:29.keep a look out on that difficulty scoreboard, because he posted a 7.1
:00:30. > :00:34.and he played it safe in the auld around. I think he did a 6.5. He
:00:35. > :00:38.wanted to make sure of that all-around medal. The releasing
:00:39. > :00:42.catch, he missed that in the all-around. He knew what he had to
:00:43. > :00:44.do, knew what he had to score and he knew he could score high enough to
:00:45. > :00:51.win. We've had just knew he could score high enough to
:00:52. > :00:56.gymnast introduced to the crowd, the third highest qualifier. And we love
:00:57. > :01:00.this lad. Manrique Larduet. Again another final for him. What an all
:01:01. > :01:08.round gymnast. This World
:01:09. > :01:15.amazing for him, he was This World
:01:16. > :01:23.the P bars, he could up his start This World
:01:24. > :01:25.wonderful way to wrap up a World Championships. Hegi from
:01:26. > :01:29.Switzerland, the eighth highest qualifier, just outside the medals
:01:30. > :01:41.in the European Championships. What a word on this lad, he is a master.
:01:42. > :01:46.Hambuchen has been around for a long time, he was someone I was always
:01:47. > :01:51.trying to beat. His high bar routine is unbelievable and I am excited to
:01:52. > :01:56.watch him. He did have a few final placings, but he has dropped out.
:01:57. > :02:00.Beth, you heard he has not been so well. He was supposed to be in the
:02:01. > :02:04.all-around final but he decided he was not fit enough because of
:02:05. > :02:08.illness, so he pulled out and has had two days to recover and get
:02:09. > :02:14.fully fit. I think he knew that his medal chances were in the high bar
:02:15. > :02:18.rather than the all-around. We will be sitting on the edge of our seats
:02:19. > :02:25.for this one. Full coverage of this final will continue on the BBC Sport
:02:26. > :02:30.website, because we won't have time to see it all on BBC Two. Coverage
:02:31. > :02:38.all the way up to the end of the medal ceremony. Mitch, the bar is
:02:39. > :02:42.chalked up, and this is the first gymnast, Bretschneider from Germany.
:02:43. > :02:50.He has been in one or two world finals. This is the final... If
:02:51. > :02:53.everybody is not around the telly at the moment, call them in for the
:02:54. > :03:01.first few minutes. You have to witness this. And make sure you have
:03:02. > :03:07.a strong heart. Because this man, well, not invented, but the first to
:03:08. > :03:15.do the double twist. It is an amazing move. Whether he will put it
:03:16. > :03:26.into this final, we don't know. But what a gymnast. A little bit
:03:27. > :03:26.scrappy. But so risky. A bit of scruffiness, some entertaining
:03:27. > :03:47.stuff! And he caught the Cassina. The
:03:48. > :03:52.Kovacs start with extra twist was fantastic.
:03:53. > :03:59.The pirouettes give away the scores. A little bit late with the half
:04:00. > :04:03.turn. This man has so much to offer. In terms of difficulty.
:04:04. > :04:19.He has given a bit away, what he really needs to do is to nail the
:04:20. > :04:32.dismount. He didn't stick it. A shame. Very
:04:33. > :04:39.difficult, very ambitious am a but he will be painfully deducted. It
:04:40. > :04:41.was a courageous display. It certainly was. Look at this first
:04:42. > :04:51.move. The mind boggles at how, after
:04:52. > :04:54.twisting and somersaulting over the bar, you can stick your hands out,
:04:55. > :05:03.grab it and carry on going. Absolutely. Two twists, a catch,
:05:04. > :05:10.just an amazing skill. A long time coming in competition, but he's done
:05:11. > :05:17.it. There is the conventional, if you can say so, Cassina. The full
:05:18. > :05:25.twist, but to do a release with double is incredible stuff. One,,
:05:26. > :05:28.catch. As you say, Matt, to gather your scrambled brains to produce the
:05:29. > :05:34.performance... A little shuffle across. It all
:05:35. > :05:52.takes marks away. And he needed to stick this dismount
:05:53. > :05:59.because he was expensive on the bar in terms of tenths, but it wasn't to
:06:00. > :06:06.be. Almost a mark, but I would say 0.8 anyway.
:06:07. > :06:21.14.966. Difficulty of 7.2. Yes, huge difficulty, but that's the task, to
:06:22. > :06:32.marry the two. Christopher Brooks. A very ambitious routine.
:06:33. > :06:50.Full turn into the standard... And he is off! What a pity. What a pity.
:06:51. > :06:58.He had the awareness to roll out. I was going to say, a good job that he
:06:59. > :07:05.was aware of where he was. Just got his head under. Did very well. This
:07:06. > :07:07.is an amazing, ambitious... The second hand, the right hand, did not
:07:08. > :07:22.get on firmly enough. Tkachev half turn, the third release
:07:23. > :07:42.attempted with half turn. Very nicely done. Such a pity, but
:07:43. > :07:49.such awareness. To survive that fault. We have seen a few false on
:07:50. > :07:58.that half turn action. -- a few falls. It's absolutely crucial.
:07:59. > :08:06.It's what did for Max Whitlock in the all-around competition. That's
:08:07. > :08:13.right. You have to get right over. It's no good just catching with the
:08:14. > :08:16.fingers. He seemed to be on, but he knows he is off at that point. You
:08:17. > :08:31.could see the bar twang there. Lovely. That time he made no
:08:32. > :08:34.mistake. Definitely made sure he got hold of that time, didn't he? The
:08:35. > :08:48.big wind-up. Lovely dismount. Superb. Just struggled to bring it
:08:49. > :09:00.under control. Full twist. Double twist. Big stuff.
:09:01. > :09:07.Everything was on, man... It was going to be a freaking sweet
:09:08. > :09:14.routine. He thought it was going to be a sweet routine, but it turned
:09:15. > :09:28.sour. 6.4 difficulty. It would have been a 6.9. Let's go, Leyva!
:09:29. > :09:39.The way the marks have been going, a big score on high bar.
:09:40. > :09:43.Has got enough, if he does it again, to challenge for a medal. Thrilling
:09:44. > :09:52.to watch, Leyva. Clean execution, smooth rhythm. A
:09:53. > :09:59.big release. The Kolman, the Kovacs with full
:10:00. > :10:37.turn. His father encouraging him, and look
:10:38. > :10:46.at that landing! What a performance! Look at that Ema! -- look at dad!
:10:47. > :10:53.at that landing! What a performance! What a performance from them both!
:10:54. > :11:02.That was great. Dad has not finished his routine yet!
:11:03. > :11:20.Oh, dear. What a superb high bar routine from
:11:21. > :11:24.Leyva. And he gives us a kiss. He really uses the wind-up well,
:11:25. > :11:30.that's lovely, the double straight, arms fled to the side.
:11:31. > :11:38.Making sure he is giving all the help
:11:39. > :11:44.Arms out, really, and then the arms back in to
:11:45. > :11:49.catch. Showing the judges, look, this is how confident I am.
:11:50. > :11:54.Unfortunately caught it with slightly bent arms, which they will
:11:55. > :12:00.deduct for. He has flair all the way through. He does. But he is the
:12:01. > :12:05.of gymnast, in the all-around competition, it didn't go right and
:12:06. > :12:13.so nothing went right. But when it's going right, it's wonderful. Just
:12:14. > :12:25.like that dismount. 15.7! 7.3 difficulty.
:12:26. > :12:32.Well, I have to tell you, that is the biggest score we have seen on
:12:33. > :12:36.high bar for this Championships. There are still five gymnasts to go
:12:37. > :12:41.in this high bar final. We are going to run out of time here, so if you
:12:42. > :12:46.would like to see them, go to the BBC Sport website. Continuous
:12:47. > :12:50.coverage all the way to the end of the medal ceremony. So please do
:12:51. > :12:55.join us there. Otherwise we are going to run into the rugby league,
:12:56. > :12:59.England versus New Zealand, coming up shortly. A quick final thought on
:13:00. > :13:03.your favourite moment of these World Championships, Dan. Definitely max
:13:04. > :13:07.winning the gold on the pommel horse. It was crazy under that kind
:13:08. > :13:14.of pressure, seeing Louis Smith had put up 16. Max was special but the
:13:15. > :13:18.team medals for both the men and women for Britain, a history making
:13:19. > :13:22.moment for British gymnastics. Listen, I can't tell you what a
:13:23. > :13:27.World Championships it has been. To be here and witnessed it has been
:13:28. > :13:31.the most special thing. We knew that this World Championships was going
:13:32. > :13:34.to be good, but it has been more than great for Britain. From all of
:13:35. > :13:39.the team here, thanks for watching, we hope that you have been inspired
:13:40. > :13:53.as much as we have. Thanks for watching, goodbye.
:13:54. > :14:05.# It's just gravitation. # We are unstoppable. That is a
:14:06. > :14:07.bronze medal! Max Whitlock is the pommel horse
