:00:07. > :00:32.This programme contains scenes of repetitive flashing images.

:00:33. > :00:40.Good evening. Welcome to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The place

:00:41. > :00:44.that was the epicentre of London 2012. What a setting for four days

:00:45. > :00:49.of extraordinary sporting action for people who will not take no for an

:00:50. > :00:55.answer. Who will not list on the the words, "You can't." It has been "I

:00:56. > :00:59.can." It is the Latin for unconquerored.

:01:00. > :01:04.We've had Prince Harry getting sin-binned during wheelchair rugby.

:01:05. > :01:09.It has been a fantastic few days. He has been on his bike trying to get

:01:10. > :01:13.to as many venues as possible. This has been for 410 sick and injured

:01:14. > :01:19.servicemen and women. They have completed across nine sports. They

:01:20. > :01:23.have represented 13 nations. Every from Afghanistan to New Zealand. We

:01:24. > :01:27.will show you the sporting side of things. It has not just been about

:01:28. > :01:33.winning, it is important, of course. It has been about team spirit, about

:01:34. > :01:37.motivation. It all culminates here tonight. I popped out to the lawns

:01:38. > :01:46.behind me to find out who people were excited about seeing tonight.

:01:47. > :01:58.Who are you most excited about? Darrell Goulding. We love James

:01:59. > :02:09.Blunt. Bryan Adams has to be the best. The

:02:10. > :02:13.Kaiser Chiefs. We will get our competitors' medals and then the Foo

:02:14. > :02:19.Fighters. You are the warm-up guy!

:02:20. > :02:25.We are here to see The Vamps. Darrell Goulding and the Foo

:02:26. > :02:33.Fighters. I will call you the Foo Fighters' family. Is that your mum

:02:34. > :02:38.and dad's choice? Would your dream night out be with Dave Grohl? That

:02:39. > :02:45.would be mine! I am so relieved it is a lovely

:02:46. > :02:48.evening and people started to arrive here from 4pm or earlier than that

:02:49. > :02:53.and they were able to have picnics as they wait for the music to start.

:02:54. > :02:58.We will show you the best acts. I am looking forward to Blunt. I know it

:02:59. > :03:03.ages me somewhat. That is fine. I was tempted to stay with the Foo

:03:04. > :03:08.Fighters family. They had a picnic sorted out. The person I think most

:03:09. > :03:12.people are trying to catch a glimpse of and trying to get a selfie with

:03:13. > :03:18.and say hello to and thank you is to the guy whose idea this was. He

:03:19. > :03:23.picked it up from the warrior games. He transported it here and he is of

:03:24. > :03:28.course Prince Harry. Let's chat with the man whose idea

:03:29. > :03:32.this was. Your Royal Highness, are you happy with how it has gone? I am

:03:33. > :03:36.happy. When you have something in your head it is dangerous. You know

:03:37. > :03:40.how you want it to pan out. You never know whether it will. But, as

:03:41. > :03:44.I said, numerous times over this past week, the British public have

:03:45. > :03:48.taken to this like ducks to water. That is what we wanted. They have

:03:49. > :03:53.outdone themselves, as always. Is it a relief it's gone so well and the

:03:54. > :03:58.stress has gone? Is it stressful to put on an event of this scale? It

:03:59. > :04:07.is. It has been stressful throughout the year, but fun. During the Games

:04:08. > :04:11.stress levels were high. It is the last bit that people start to relax.

:04:12. > :04:15.Everyone thinks it is all sorted. It is not. It is far from sorted until

:04:16. > :04:19.every individual who has to get on a plane gets on a plane, uninjured,

:04:20. > :04:23.with their family on the way back with a smile on their face. That is

:04:24. > :04:27.mission success. Until that point we have to worry about a lot of people.

:04:28. > :04:31.It is good. It is healthy. Really good for you. Let's look at

:04:32. > :04:46.some of the sporting highlights from the last four days.

:04:47. > :05:19.# I am the master of my fate # I am the captain of my

:05:20. > :06:36.# I am the master of my fate I am the captain of my soul

:06:37. > :06:40.shirt. Thankfully we are mates. There were some wonderful moments

:06:41. > :06:44.there. Do you have a particular favourite moment from the whole

:06:45. > :06:50.thing? If I am allowed the to, it will be Friday night - the final of

:06:51. > :06:56.the wheelchair rugby. GB against America. 6,000 people - the roof

:06:57. > :07:00.came off. It is when the penny sunk in. It was like, wow, that is the

:07:01. > :07:06.British public doing what they do best. It was a tight match. People

:07:07. > :07:10.were like, did you script it? One thing we could not organise is how

:07:11. > :07:15.it would end. So a draw until the last 40 seconds, last minute,

:07:16. > :07:19.whatever it was. Then we won it and got the triple crown - getting all

:07:20. > :07:25.three golds against the Americans. It has been the absolute dream. It

:07:26. > :07:29.has been absolutely fantastic. With content like this you will pull

:07:30. > :07:35.heart strings. We've had tears, we've had all sorts. I have managed

:07:36. > :07:40.to hold myself together. We have a fantastic closing ceremony to come.

:07:41. > :07:43.You can hear some rehearsals in the background, probably. It will be

:07:44. > :07:49.interesting to see how many people turn up at the beginning. We have

:07:50. > :07:56.26,000 in total. Hopefully not all foo fighter fans. In terms of what

:07:57. > :08:01.happens now, in the Invictus games, what do you want it to achieve, not

:08:02. > :08:05.just whether it can be staged again and where, but the wider impact of

:08:06. > :08:09.what we have seen? From the word go, once again in your mind you can see

:08:10. > :08:18.how you hope it will pan out and hope that the way, from my

:08:19. > :08:21.perspective, I hoped the way I felt in Colorado Springs who echo through

:08:22. > :08:31.to others. Thankfully it has happened, which is great. I think

:08:32. > :08:34.America, 22016, Canada -- 2016, Canada 2017, there are people saying

:08:35. > :08:38.different things. I want to make sure it happens in the UK again.

:08:39. > :08:42.People are only just finding out about it and how amazing it is and

:08:43. > :08:49.how amazing it makes them feel and how amazing it makes the competitors

:08:50. > :08:56.feel. It should be called "the good fun games." Invictus is a great

:08:57. > :09:02.name. There have been some wonderful moments with Dave Henson saying his

:09:03. > :09:06.new life can begin because of the Games. I walked around the lawns

:09:07. > :09:10.today and a little girl said, I am going to start to do sport because I

:09:11. > :09:14.have watched so much great stuff this week. We will show you a video

:09:15. > :09:23.of the impact this has had. There is one person to thank and

:09:24. > :09:26.that is Prince Harry, for putting this together and being the driving

:09:27. > :09:31.force. Of events like this are once in a

:09:32. > :09:38.lifetime deal, not only for athletes like me but for those in the tuure.

:09:39. > :09:44.-- future It is something we hope to take home to Australia. I cannot

:09:45. > :09:49.describe how I feel right now. For the people here and how they back

:09:50. > :09:54.them up. I cannot believe how well they have done. It is on. It is more

:09:55. > :09:58.than I could ever have hoped for. Thank you for believing in us and

:09:59. > :10:01.giving us these fantastic moments and opportunities. Thank you, Harry.

:10:02. > :10:05.We love you. Thank you, Harry. What do you think

:10:06. > :10:09.when you hear that? It is fantastic. At the end of the day, sometimes I

:10:10. > :10:15.find myself as being a voice for them. All I have done is create an

:10:16. > :10:20.opportunity for them, through a lot of hard work from other people.

:10:21. > :10:29.We've had fun doing it. It kept me out of the office. Kept me out of a

:10:30. > :10:34.desk job. The thank yous - it is polite of them to say thank you. For

:10:35. > :10:39.me, as I said, I know the effect it has on them. Why wouldn't you

:10:40. > :10:44.enlarge something on a smaller scale to a bigger scale? Try and change

:10:45. > :10:49.400 lives as opposed to one. That is just the competitors. We've had

:10:50. > :10:54.e-mails from America, from the UK, children, wives, husbands, you name

:10:55. > :10:58.it, all over the place, saying wow, I had given up all my life until I

:10:59. > :11:04.saw what these guys had achieved. That is what it is about. They are

:11:05. > :11:08.ambassadors to their nations and should be incredibly proud. It is

:11:09. > :11:13.only the beginning. Congratulations on the start of something very

:11:14. > :11:16.special. Thank you both for showing your support, along with the 26,000

:11:17. > :11:20.other people as well. Bring on the next one. See you there.

:11:21. > :11:28.It shows you what an important event this is. It is just the beginning.

:11:29. > :11:35.We will hear from Prince Harry later on. I was struck by how he said it

:11:36. > :11:39.is not over yet. He said it is not over until they all get on planes,

:11:40. > :11:43.until they all get home safely and are back with their families and

:11:44. > :11:48.everyone can recover. He said he would probably sleep for a week. It

:11:49. > :11:53.is his birthday tomorrow. Tonight we will bring you highlights from

:11:54. > :12:07.Darrell Goulding. We have James Blunt -- from Ellie Goulding. We

:12:08. > :12:27.have James Blunt. First we have the Royal Corps of Drums.

:12:28. > :12:59.It matters not how charged with punishment the scroll, I am the

:13:00. > :13:04.master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul.

:13:05. > :14:18.# # You were the sun

:14:19. > :14:24.# You don't know the way I love you

:14:25. > :14:32.# We are Diversity

:14:33. > :14:35.# Cry me a river # Cry me a river

:14:36. > :14:47.# Cry # Cry me a

:14:48. > :14:51.river # Cry me a

:14:52. > :14:58.river # Cry me a river

:14:59. > :15:07.# Cry me a river

:15:08. > :15:45.# Cry me a river CHEERING AND

:15:46. > :15:49.Please welcome Bryan Adams. CHEERING AND

:15:50. > :16:00.APPLAUSE # She says her love for me could

:16:01. > :16:05.never die # But that'd change if she ever

:16:06. > :16:12.found out about you and I # It wouldn't hurt her if she

:16:13. > :16:22.didn't know, 'cause # When it gets too much

:16:23. > :16:27.I need to feel your touch # Cos when the feelin's right

:16:28. > :16:38.I'm gonna run all night # She's got a heart of gold

:16:39. > :16:57.she'd never let me down # But you're the one that always

:16:58. > :17:00.turns me on # But it's so damn easy makin' love

:17:01. > :17:13.to you # I got my mind made up

:17:14. > :17:19.I need to feel your touch # Cos when the feelin's right

:17:20. > :17:33.I'm gonna stay all night # Oh, when the feelin's right

:17:34. > :17:40.I'm gonna run all night # Cos when the feelin's right

:17:41. > :18:31.I'm gonna stay all night # Yeah, when the feelin's right

:18:32. > :18:50.I'm gonna stay all night # I'm gonna run to you,

:18:51. > :19:23.run to you. # still have my guitar pick in my

:19:24. > :19:30.hand. How did it feel up there? It was nice to be the first to sing

:19:31. > :19:34.live tonight. When you heard about the Invictus Games, did you put up

:19:35. > :19:41.your hands and say, I want to be there? Yes. It was a surprise. The

:19:42. > :19:47.reason I am doing it solo is because my band are everywhere else in the

:19:48. > :19:52.world. I am really happy to be here. For you, really strong connections

:19:53. > :20:00.both your grandfathers were in the Army? And your father as well. You

:20:01. > :20:04.are a photographer as well as a worldwide musician - you are a

:20:05. > :20:08.photographer as well and you have produced these extraordinary images

:20:09. > :20:12.of people in the Armed Forces, injured in the course of their work,

:20:13. > :20:18.in the course of battle. I did a book which came out last year on

:20:19. > :20:26.11th November, which was called Wounded - The Legacy of War. It is a

:20:27. > :20:32.document to the time of the last 10-12 years, with people coming back

:20:33. > :20:36.from the Middle East and Afghanistan, you know, seriously

:20:37. > :20:41.wounded and the project started about five years before the book

:20:42. > :20:46.release. It was to be an exhibition. There was no, I didn't really know

:20:47. > :20:53.what we would end up with. But after having worked with 30 of these guys

:20:54. > :20:57.and girls from the British Army, it felt right to make a book out of it.

:20:58. > :21:02.Some are here competing in the Games. Let's see some of these

:21:03. > :21:06.images because they are extremely powerful.

:21:07. > :21:15.All these guys are great. What is interesting is a lot of them have

:21:16. > :21:18.this thing that, OK, I've lost my legs, but I will keep going and the

:21:19. > :21:22.determination not to let these injuries hold them back. It was

:21:23. > :21:36.really humbling to work with them over the period of time that I did.

:21:37. > :21:41.Let's look at Joe Townsend. He's in such good shape and really fit. Not

:21:42. > :21:45.letting the injury get him down. I am really happy this is happening

:21:46. > :21:49.for everybody. Not only is there the physical, but there is the moral

:21:50. > :21:57.thing that happens and the psychological thing of being able to

:21:58. > :22:02.carry on with your life and I made mention in the song She Knows Me,

:22:03. > :22:07.about what has surprised me and made me happy is a lot of the wives and

:22:08. > :22:12.girls with these guys before they went to combat are still there at

:22:13. > :22:15.the end. Even though these guys had lost their legs or arms, they

:22:16. > :22:19.carried on and some even have families now. It is fantastic. The

:22:20. > :22:24.other amazing thing, I think, is the trust you have in them - the trust

:22:25. > :22:29.they have in you as well to make the photos the way they are, because you

:22:30. > :22:33.use humour in some, you use their personality. It comes across. It is

:22:34. > :22:37.a terrific book and a great performance. Thank you very much.

:22:38. > :22:42.The thing about working with these guys is they came in with the

:22:43. > :22:47.humour. Believe me, sometimes it was like one guy would come in with six

:22:48. > :22:56.others and they were all having a laugh. I think it continues on, even

:22:57. > :22:59.though they are badly injured. Everyone is there for them, you

:23:00. > :23:05.know. That is what is great about today. Exactly! It is what is great

:23:06. > :23:09.about this event. Thank you for coming in. My pleasure.

:23:10. > :23:22.Hello everyone. Hello, are we good today? First, we should say thank

:23:23. > :23:29.you to the pipers, the brigade of Gurkhas. An amazing day. Thank you

:23:30. > :23:35.for being here to support our wounded warriors. Thank you to

:23:36. > :23:39.Diversity for helping us countdown in the closing ceremony. Thank you

:23:40. > :23:44.to the legend that is Bryan Adams. So good!

:23:45. > :23:50.I love Bryan Adams. Of so we have an amazing day for you today. Like I

:23:51. > :23:55.said, to end an incredible week. Who do we have? We have the most

:23:56. > :24:01.fantastic line-up. We have The Vamps on this stage. They are the fans!

:24:02. > :24:12.The military wives are going to be on the stage. We have got a lady

:24:13. > :24:20.called Ellie Goulding on this stage. We have the mighty Kaiser Chiefs.

:24:21. > :24:25.And we have probably the biggest rock band in the entire world - the

:24:26. > :24:30.Foo Fighters are going to be here. Oh, yeah! That is going to be a

:24:31. > :24:36.moment - I cannot wait! Let's get things started. Are you ready for

:24:37. > :24:39.your next act on this main stage? Please give it up for the Rizzle

:24:40. > :25:00.Kicks. # Mama won't you please let me

:25:01. > :25:23.Mama won't you please let me # Yeah lemme touch back down

:25:24. > :25:26.Uh Slap her on the bum until it # Comes back round

:25:27. > :25:29.Half the rooms like Oi what's this # all about with

:25:30. > :25:31.The other half jiving like # sound

:25:32. > :25:36.(What!?) A yeah yeah I love that # sound

:25:37. > :25:39.Uh So flick your fag butts at once # On a mad one like

:25:40. > :25:42.# Yeah your mama can hump # Mama won't you please let me do

:25:43. > :25:47.the hump hump # Mama won't you please let me do

:25:48. > :25:52.the hump hump # Mama won't you please let me do

:25:53. > :25:57.the hump hump # Mama won't you please let me do

:25:58. > :26:02.the hump hump # Yo, it's been a long week

:26:03. > :26:05.How I've got this much energy is # beyond me

:26:06. > :26:08.I just want all of these girls to be # on me And maybe even one of them

:26:09. > :26:11.could be Beyonce # All of that cheesy stuff clap

:26:12. > :26:15.clap sing # Right here, right now

:26:16. > :26:22.Ain't over till a fat boy slims # Mama do the hump, mama do the

:26:23. > :26:35.hump hump # Mama won't you please let me do

:26:36. > :26:37.# Ah, bust a little jiggy as the Drum track pounds

:26:38. > :26:40.# Half the room are just making their own crowd with

:26:41. > :26:43.# The other half jiving I love that sound A yeah

:26:44. > :26:46.# yeah I love that sound (What!?) A yeah yeah I love that sound.

:26:47. > :26:49.# Uh So flick your fag butts at once on a mad one like

:26:50. > :26:53.# Yeah, your mama can hump Mama do the hump mama do the hump

:26:54. > :26:57.# hump Mama won't you please let me do the hump hump Mama do the hump

:26:58. > :27:02.# Mama do the hump mama do the hump hump Mama won't you please let me do

:27:03. > :27:06.# Mama won't you please let me do the hump hump

:27:07. > :27:08.# When we step into the room everybody makes a pathway

:27:09. > :27:20.# And we rule that crowd Oh, that we don't change pace at the

:27:21. > :27:23.# We we keep it moving We we hold it down

:27:24. > :27:25.# Break sweat No losing

:27:26. > :27:33.# Yes Nobody gonna take my crown

:27:34. > :27:38.# Go back Na na na na never gonna happen

:27:39. > :27:40.# Especially when it's all packed out Crowd shouting out

:27:41. > :27:45.# Yeah I love that sound Ah yeah, yeah I love that sound

:27:46. > :27:52.# (What!?) Ah yeah yeah I love that sound

:27:53. > :27:56.# mama Mama do the hump mama do the hump hump Mama won't you please

:27:57. > :28:00.# hump hump (do the hump mama!) Mama do the hump mama do the hump

:28:01. > :28:02.# hump mama won't you please let me do the hump hump

:28:03. > :28:15.# Mama do the hump mama do the hump hump Mama won't you please let

:28:16. > :28:21.Everyone, hands together! Here is what we are going to do! We are

:28:22. > :28:31.going to take this back to its country roots. We sing something,

:28:32. > :28:40.you sing it right back to us. Say, mamma, Mama do the hump!

:28:41. > :28:56.Singh Olympic Park, Olympic Park! Announcing it! Mamma, do the hump,

:28:57. > :29:13.mamma, do the hump-comp! -- now sing it!

:29:14. > :29:25.Thank you so much for listening to us! Have a good rest of your day.

:29:26. > :29:32.Give her a wrap -- give a rapturous Invictus Games welcome to the

:29:33. > :29:49.military wives. # My heart will build

:29:50. > :30:12.a bridge of light Meehan Cowan Botha Botha Jaco Van

:30:13. > :32:41.Gass Van Gass walk walk walk walk It must be a good feeling to be

:32:42. > :32:46.here? We feel really happy and honoured to be part of an event

:32:47. > :32:50.which inspires and motivates. We like to be advocators of both of

:32:51. > :32:57.those. It has been amazing to watch some of the sporting action. Have

:32:58. > :33:05.you caught bits and bobs of that? We caught some of it. The line-up is

:33:06. > :33:12.decent. We have the Foo Fighters and all that sort of thing. It is always

:33:13. > :33:23.interesting to be part of a variety line-up. You have parts of time to

:33:24. > :33:28.be you. When an event is on this scale and covers so many

:33:29. > :33:34.demographics, but to be on the same stage as the foo fighters is an

:33:35. > :33:40.honour. It is fight to have Prince Harry ring you up and ask you to be

:33:41. > :33:45.in this event. Harry is probably my favourite Royal. It is a sign of, it

:33:46. > :33:53.is amazing he's put this together. It is a huge accomplishment. It is

:33:54. > :33:59.great we could be part of that. It is amazing. I was saying before

:34:00. > :34:05.that, Harry, he turned 30 recently. It is weird for me to think that,

:34:06. > :34:11.because I am 22, he's been the youngest and to put something

:34:12. > :34:13.together on this scale is great. See you soon.

:34:14. > :34:24.And Greg will be back stage talking to as many performers as he can.

:34:25. > :34:30.Only in the Invictus Games would you have Diversity, Rizzle Kicks and the

:34:31. > :34:37.Military Wives. There'll be special ceremonies, where these will be

:34:38. > :34:45.given to every single one who has participated in the Games. It is the

:34:46. > :34:51.last two names of the poem, Invictus, the Master of my Stage and

:34:52. > :34:56.I am the captain of my soul. And then that is repeated in Braille

:34:57. > :35:03.around the outside. So that will be awarded to every single of the 410

:35:04. > :35:08.servicemen and women. Those ceremonies will be split into four.

:35:09. > :35:12.Let's look at the first. This included from Afghanistan,

:35:13. > :35:20.Australia, Italy and Canada. As they came forward, they were

:35:21. > :35:24.given a tremendous reception. The Afghan team, headed by the

:35:25. > :35:28.delegation, said, we fought alongside all the nations in the

:35:29. > :35:34.Invictus Games. We believe we are fighting together for peace. Here

:35:35. > :35:39.comes the Australian team. A large number of competitors. 36 of them.

:35:40. > :35:46.They won 32 medals in total. 10 gold. Their captain lost both his

:35:47. > :35:52.legs in an explosion of August, 2012.

:35:53. > :35:58.Dennis Ramsey, the Australian javelin champion. He took part in

:35:59. > :36:05.rugby, volleyball as well and was in Prince Harry's team for the

:36:06. > :36:10.wheelchair match. Canada now and their captain - they have 11

:36:11. > :36:13.competitors. Won four medals in total.

:36:14. > :36:19.And they have a lot of support. I am sure there'll be a bigger Canadian

:36:20. > :36:25.team next time. They are very keen to host the Invictus Games. And

:36:26. > :36:31.Italy had 13 competitors and won 11 medals, three of them gold.

:36:32. > :36:37.And just of course to warn you that some of the performances tonight and

:36:38. > :36:42.the medallion performances will contain some flashing imagery. We

:36:43. > :36:50.will introduce you to the next act - they are The Vamps.

:36:51. > :36:57.# Cecilia, you're breaking my heart You're shaking my confidence daily

:36:58. > :36:59.# Put your hands up You're surrounded

:37:00. > :37:02.# The whole love thing I clowned it

:37:03. > :37:04.# Then who's the joker I guess I'm it

:37:05. > :37:06.# Cos I let it right go when I found it

:37:07. > :37:14.# You moved out of my heart Still got the bruise

:37:15. > :37:16.# I'd give it all back to be next to you

:37:17. > :37:19.# I turn my radio up and it's just my luck

:37:20. > :37:23.# I turn my TV on It's the same old song

:37:24. > :37:28.# It's like a missing you sign is written on my face

:37:29. > :37:32.# It's like everybody knows cos everywhere I go

:37:33. > :37:35.# The whole world is singing to me yeah

:37:36. > :37:44.# Cecilia, you're breaking my heart You're shaking my confidence daily

:37:45. > :37:54.# Oh, Cecilia, I'm down on my knees I'm begging you please to come home

:37:55. > :37:58.# Uh-huh-uh eh-eh uh-huh-uh eh-eh

:37:59. > :38:04.# Uh-huh-uh eh-eh Uh-huh-uh eh-eh eh-oh

:38:05. > :38:07.# I had the girl of my dreams And now she's all gone

:38:08. > :38:10.# Thought that we could last forever I was all wrong

:38:11. > :38:12.# Said the talking was cheap and now I'm flat broke

:38:13. > :38:15.# She don't even wanna see my face anymore

:38:16. > :38:17.# She don't wanna say where she's gone away

:38:18. > :38:19.# But she's on replay in my, in my brain

:38:20. > :38:22.# I'll do what it takes any time and place

:38:23. > :38:24.# We can turn a breakup into an outbreak

:38:25. > :38:26.# I turn my radio up and it's just my luck

:38:27. > :38:30.# I turn my TV on It's the same old song

:38:31. > :38:35.# It's like a missing you sign is written on my face

:38:36. > :38:39.# It's like everybody knows cos everywhere I go

:38:40. > :38:51.# Cecilia, you're breaking my heart You're shaking my confidence daily

:38:52. > :39:01.# Oh, Cecilia, I'm down on my knees I'm begging you please to come home

:39:02. > :39:05.# Uh-huh-uh eh-eh uh-huh-uh eh-eh

:39:06. > :39:11.# Uh-huh-uh eh-eh Uh-huh-uh eh-eh eh-oh

:39:12. > :39:15.# Although we're many miles apart but I still feel her

:39:16. > :39:21.# There'll never be another one like my Cecilia

:39:22. > :39:26.# Oh, where, oh, where could she be? Does she still care about me?

:39:27. > :39:29.# When will she finally come back to

:39:30. > :39:39.# Cecilia, you're breaking my heart You're shaking my confidence daily

:39:40. > :39:49.# Oh, Cecilia, I'm down on my knees I'm begging you please to come home

:39:50. > :40:07.# Uh-huh-uh eh-eh uh-huh-uh eh-eh

:40:08. > :40:17.Thank you so much, London! Every single one of you has been very,

:40:18. > :40:25.very lovely! Enjoy the rest of your day and we will see you very soon!

:40:26. > :40:29.# Oh, Cecilia, I'm down on my knees I'm begging you please to come home

:40:30. > :40:38.# Uh-huh-uh eh-eh uh-huh-uh eh-eh

:40:39. > :40:47.# Uh-huh-uh eh-eh Uh-huh-uh eh-eh eh-oh. #

:40:48. > :40:53.Let me hear you scream loudly, London!

:40:54. > :41:26.worn my high heels besides you. Have you caught much of it and caught the

:41:27. > :41:30.sporting action? I have been overseas and even there people have

:41:31. > :41:33.picked up on it. It is what we do best in Britain, get behind our

:41:34. > :41:39.wounded soldiers and look out for them. It has been a fantastic job

:41:40. > :41:45.done by all. As an ex-serviceman you must know that the people who are

:41:46. > :41:48.performing here and doing the sporting activities think this is

:41:49. > :41:53.the greatest thing they have been part of for a while? These are

:41:54. > :41:57.incredible men and women and have been totally self--less. You don't

:41:58. > :42:03.get paid well this the Army and you are doing it as part of a team to go

:42:04. > :42:08.to someone else's country to bring peace and stability and then to lose

:42:09. > :42:13.your life in that process or to lose a limb - it is an incredible

:42:14. > :42:19.sacrifice. For that to be recognised here, in this way, in this positive

:42:20. > :42:22.way is amazing. To get a devastating injury is horrible when you have

:42:23. > :42:27.trained to do something for so long, so I suppose doing an event like the

:42:28. > :42:32.Invictus Games would be a way to achieve again. What is remarkable

:42:33. > :42:38.about soldiers when they have been injured is how instantly positive

:42:39. > :42:42.they are about their lives and are not going to be damaged in a

:42:43. > :42:47.negative way. They approach it as a positive and meet the challenge.

:42:48. > :42:51.This is exactly that. And great to get the nod from Prince Harry? I am

:42:52. > :42:56.thrilled to have been invited by him. He's done a fantastic job

:42:57. > :42:59.arranging this. Thank you for being part of the Invictus Games. See you

:43:00. > :43:06.out Along the Military Wives James Blunt

:43:07. > :43:11.has the best credentials, he went to Kosovo, retired from the Army in

:43:12. > :43:15.2002 and wrote You're Beautiful and started a new chapter of his life.

:43:16. > :43:20.You will see him on stage shortly. Let's show you one of the

:43:21. > :43:38.ceremonies, this starting with Denmark.

:43:39. > :43:48.They got 27 medals. This is Estonia. They had six competitors here. Two

:43:49. > :43:52.medals and Estonia one of the smallest teams. France, with 18

:43:53. > :44:00.competitors. They go home with 20 medals. Eight of them gold.

:44:01. > :44:06.Georgia were competing as well. Germany you see there. They had 22

:44:07. > :44:13.competitors. They had six medals. One gold for them.

:44:14. > :44:23.Georgia I mentioned as well, the Netherlands and New Zealand making

:44:24. > :44:28.up this group too. Georgia coming forward too. They were all wounded

:44:29. > :44:35.in the war of 2008. The Netherlands there.

:44:36. > :44:40.14 medal, one gold for them. Finally in this group New Zealand.

:44:41. > :44:47.They had 12 competitors here. Five medals.

:44:48. > :44:51.Being presented with the medals by members of the British Armed Forces.

:44:52. > :45:00.Just the most fabulous reception for all of them. It is a huge crowd. It

:45:01. > :45:02.has come of the appreciate t competitors.

:45:03. > :45:09.Congratulations. What an amazing feeling to be here, to be part of

:45:10. > :45:16.the Games. How did it feel to win your medals the other day? I am very

:45:17. > :45:24.happy to win the 100 and 1200 metres. It is a good experience for

:45:25. > :45:32.me to run in this stadium and to see Prince Harry. I am very happy. Very,

:45:33. > :45:41.very. And you are very fast. As the French would say, "Tres Vite!

:45:42. > :45:46." I broke my record. I am very happy. I think you are a machine.

:45:47. > :45:53.That is what you are. And a great turnout for the French team and good

:45:54. > :45:59.medals won as well. First of all, I would like to thank Prince Harry for

:46:00. > :46:09.inviting the French team here. For the Invictus Games - it is amazing.

:46:10. > :46:14.Thank you very much. The only word I can say is, thank you very much.

:46:15. > :46:19.Congratulations to you as well. What a great few days you have had. I've

:46:20. > :46:24.had four amazing days. I really enjoyed it. It was so inspirational

:46:25. > :46:29.and a good atmosphere. And you said to me a minute ago that you have had

:46:30. > :46:34.a tough few years and today kind of makes up for all of that? Sorry,

:46:35. > :46:40.what did you say? You had a tough few days and today makes up for a

:46:41. > :46:47.lot of that? Definitely, yes. Three years ago I got injured. At first, I

:46:48. > :46:53.had troubles with it mentally. I broke down after a while. Then the

:46:54. > :46:58.Invictus Games came across and asked me if I want to participate in it.

:46:59. > :47:03.From then I started swimming. That was really a great thing for me and

:47:04. > :47:09.my mental condition. Thank you so much for your time. Congratulations.

:47:10. > :47:14.See you maybe next year. Thank you. I know how much the competitors have

:47:15. > :47:20.enjoyed competing in the venues used for the London Olympics and

:47:21. > :47:26.Paralympics. All the swimming happened in the Aquatics Centre.

:47:27. > :47:30.Rick was ill stating what is important -- illustrating what is so

:47:31. > :47:35.important, is the mental damage done by war as well as the physical

:47:36. > :47:36.damage. We heard from this performer a few moments ago as he spoke to

:47:37. > :47:55.Greg before he took to the stage. It is a massive honour to be uphill

:47:56. > :47:59.bob on stage in front of you. I want to dedicate this song to a very

:48:00. > :48:01.special person indeed who has arranged these Games. Prince Harry,

:48:02. > :48:19.this song is for you. # She could see from my face

:48:20. > :49:45.that I was flying high # And I don't think that

:49:46. > :49:50.I'll see her again # But we shared a moment

:49:51. > :49:57.that will last till the end # There must be an angel

:49:58. > :51:00.with a smile on her face # When she thought up

:51:01. > :51:10.that I should be with you # You light the spark

:51:11. > :52:24.in my bonfire heart # Starts the spark

:52:25. > :52:41.in our bonfire hearts # You light the spark

:52:42. > :53:33.in my bonfire heart # Starts the spark

:53:34. > :53:53.in our bonfire hearts # Starts the spark

:53:54. > :54:27.in our bonfire hearts. # # You light the spark

:54:28. > :54:39.in my bonfire heart # Starts the spark

:54:40. > :54:56.in our bonfire hearts # You light the spark

:54:57. > :55:13.in my bonfire heart # Starts the spark

:55:14. > :02:01.in our bonfire hearts. # - did you get a personal call from

:02:02. > :02:08.Harry? I did. We are kind of mates. He asked if I would be interested.

:02:09. > :02:13.Here I am, in my trousers, ready to go on stage. Is that accidental? No,

:02:14. > :02:21.it is fashion. It is great he asked you personally. Obviously as the

:02:22. > :02:26.royal singer you sang at Will's and Kate's reception. I was one of them,

:02:27. > :02:38.anyway. It was quite a long time ago now. I am very happy that he asked

:02:39. > :02:44.and with the foo fights and -- Foo Fighters and Kaiser Chiefs.

:02:45. > :02:49.Rehabilitation through sport. I know you believe strongly in sport doing

:02:50. > :02:56.good things for you - doesn't it? I keep fit to be a good performer. I

:02:57. > :02:59.suppose it kind of fits because this promotes the rehabilitation and

:03:00. > :03:04.promotes the people who serve our country and, I think an amazing

:03:05. > :03:09.thing and quite apt for me to be here. I promote healthiness and

:03:10. > :03:14.sports. In terms of your touring schedule, are you in the UK for a

:03:15. > :03:21.while now? What is going on? Finally finished tour Vy -- I have finally

:03:22. > :03:25.finishing touring for my record. I am starting on my third one now. I

:03:26. > :03:31.have been touring it around the world. I have come back and I get to

:03:32. > :03:35.chill a little bit. I get little things every now and then, mostly it

:03:36. > :03:40.is in the studio in London. I won't have to travel that much, which is

:03:41. > :03:46.nice. I am relieved to be back and quite happy. Thank you for your time

:03:47. > :03:50.today. Well done for being part of the Invictus Games.

:03:51. > :03:57.We will see Ellie Goulding perform in a moment or two. She spoke about

:03:58. > :04:00.being healthy, getting fit and taking part in sport. If you have

:04:01. > :04:05.seen something and think, I would like to try that, look at the get

:04:06. > :04:12.inspired section of the BBC website and you can see more clips of the

:04:13. > :04:20.Invictus Games and find out more about behind the scenes.

:04:21. > :04:30.Prince Harry wondered if he would have the nerve to body surf. And he

:04:31. > :04:33.did. On the same card we have seen Bryan Adams and Ryan Adams. They are

:04:34. > :04:54.no relation. Here's Ryan. # All my life been shaking

:04:55. > :05:32.wanting something # Holding everything I have

:05:33. > :05:36.like it was broken # Gimme something

:05:37. > :05:43.gimme something good # Gimme something good

:05:44. > :05:45.Give me something good # All my life been shaking

:05:46. > :06:38.wanting something # Holding everything I have like it

:06:39. > :06:42.was broken # Gimme something

:06:43. > :06:50.gimme something good # Gimme something good

:06:51. > :06:54.Gimme something good # Give me something good

:06:55. > :06:57.give me something good # All my life been shaking

:06:58. > :07:20.wanting something # Holding everybody back to

:07:21. > :07:25.round and round # Gimme something good

:07:26. > :07:34.gimme something good # Give me something good

:07:35. > :08:13.give me something good We have both gone for Clare Balding

:08:14. > :08:23.here today! We had the same hair and make-up lady! How has your day been

:08:24. > :08:35.so far, Kaiser Chiefs? We have seen some of the Vamps. We have been on

:08:36. > :08:38.America and Australia with them. A couple of us went to South Africa

:08:39. > :08:44.with them. So we know them pretty well! They don't know us but we know

:08:45. > :08:48.them! Have you had a chance to watch much of the Invictus Games over the

:08:49. > :08:55.last few days? And if so, what have you watched? Only a bit because we

:08:56. > :08:59.have been touring. You know, around the globe! So we just got back... I

:09:00. > :09:03.just got back Friday night or Saturday morning. It was late,

:09:04. > :09:09.whatever it was. But I watched a bit on TV. It was good, wasn't it? And

:09:10. > :09:17.when you get a call from someone like Prince Harry, it is a pretty

:09:18. > :09:21.immediate yes, isn't it? Not everybody gets invited to these

:09:22. > :09:32.Games. To the closing ceremony. Glad to be here. Who got the call?

:09:33. > :09:39.Because it wasn't me! I had a voice mail! It always goes through Peanut.

:09:40. > :09:44.If you need us for a bar mitzvah or wedding, go to Peanut! Has been a

:09:45. > :09:54.real life affirming, amazing few days for them. I have had a few

:09:55. > :09:59.selfies with people. It is an honour and a privilege to be here and we

:10:00. > :10:04.hope we don't let anyone down. You won't! You will be fine. Thank you,

:10:05. > :10:09.gentlemen. Kaiser Chiefs could never let

:10:10. > :10:13.anybody down. The third Medallion ceremony of the evening of the

:10:14. > :10:17.closing ceremony was for the second biggest team competing at these

:10:18. > :10:21.Invictus Games, team USA, and we will have a look at them coming

:10:22. > :10:25.forwards to accept their medallions. These given to every single person

:10:26. > :10:32.who competed in the Games, and also going home with 90 medals. That was

:10:33. > :10:36.Kelly coming forward. She won gold in shot. And the 400 metres. And

:10:37. > :10:42.actually helping present the medallions to team USA was Jill

:10:43. > :10:49.Biden, wife of Joe Biden, the vice president, the second lady. But a

:10:50. > :10:54.big team and they are happy. We will be talking to their captain later in

:10:55. > :10:59.the programme. And it is the USA who inspired the Invictus Games because

:11:00. > :11:07.the Warrior Games started in 2010 for the US officers and soldiers and

:11:08. > :11:21.people of the Armed Forces, but it is -- and American-only event.

:11:22. > :11:26.That is the equivalent in a wheelchair of what Michael Jackson

:11:27. > :11:33.used to be - the old moon-walking. That is the equivalent. A happy USA

:11:34. > :11:36.team. Prince Harry said he will be happy when he knows everybody is

:11:37. > :11:42.safely home. Some will jet back tomorrow. We heard from her earlier

:11:43. > :11:46.speaking to Greg, let's see her now performing, here's Ellie Goulding.

:11:47. > :11:58.I need something from you guys now. Let's get the energy up!

:11:59. > :12:47.# I take a deep breath every time I pass your door

:12:48. > :12:51.# I know you're there but I can't see you any more

:12:52. > :12:55.# And that's the reason you're in the dark

:12:56. > :12:59.# I've been a stranger ever since we fell apart

:13:00. > :13:49.# Am I dreaming? Will I ever find you now?

:13:50. > :13:53.# I walk in circles but I'll never figure out

:13:54. > :14:00.# I try to fight this but I know I'm not that strong

:14:01. > :16:18.# We don't have to worry 'bout nothing

:16:19. > :16:21.# Cos we got the fire and we're burning one hell of a something

:16:22. > :16:27.# They gonna see us from outer space, outer space

:16:28. > :16:31.# Like we're the stars of the human race

:16:32. > :16:59.# We gonna let it burn burn burn burn

:17:00. > :17:05.# We gonna let it burn burn burn burn

:17:06. > :17:15.# Is everybody's on the floor acting crazy

:17:16. > :17:54.# We gonna let it burn burn burn burn

:17:55. > :18:00.# We gonna let it burn burn burn burn

:18:01. > :18:14.# We gonna let it burn burn burn burn

:18:15. > :19:44.# We gonna let it burn, burn burn, burn

:19:45. > :20:48.Cheers, guys! Have a good one. Thanks for having us.

:20:49. > :21:08.British Armed Forces and the captain of the USA team. We have another

:21:09. > :21:13.medallion ceremony for all of the British athletes. First, a band who

:21:14. > :21:15.played here at the closing ceremony of 2012, they are back in the park

:21:16. > :21:42.tonight. It is the Kaiser Chiefs. # Know what ya doing

:21:43. > :22:25.doing to me? Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa # Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby

:22:26. > :22:31.Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa # Let the clocks be reset

:22:32. > :22:41.And the pendulums held # There is nothing at all

:32:34. > :32:44.How long have we got? We've got two minutes! How do you think we can

:32:45. > :32:55.fill two minutes with a bit of fun? Starting with this side, because

:32:56. > :33:02.this side was better! We now have one minute 30. Do you think we could

:33:03. > :33:09.manage some sort of Mexican wave? CHEERING

:33:10. > :33:21.This side, do not let me down! Are you ready? Are you ready to put your

:33:22. > :33:38.hands in the air? Are you ready? One, two, three... That was good!

:33:39. > :33:45.That was real good! But it wasn't great! I'm going back that way. Are

:33:46. > :34:00.you ready? Are you ready? CHEERING

:34:01. > :34:24.Oh, yes. This is the stuff! Are you ready? Are you ready?! Ow! Amazing!

:34:25. > :34:30.OK... Now I've got about 20 seconds. Here goes.

:34:31. > :34:33.# Oh, my God I can't believe it

:35:01. > :35:28.Ladies and gentlemen of the Invictus Games! It's been brilliant, hasn't

:35:29. > :35:39.it! Well done, everybody! Whoa-whoa! Whoa-whoa! Hey, hey, hey,

:35:40. > :36:16.hey, hey! British and American team. Thank

:36:17. > :36:23.you. Well done. We will discuss the Games - well the highlights with you

:36:24. > :36:27.in a moment. First, there was one final medallion ceremony and it was

:36:28. > :36:29.for the team of the British Armed Forces.

:36:30. > :36:36.Everyone out there, I know a lot of you didn't get a chance to see the

:36:37. > :36:43.Games. For that, I am sorry. That's your fault! However, you're here

:36:44. > :36:49.tonight to show your support for Team Great Britain and every other

:36:50. > :36:52.single serviceman and woman who has taken part in the past week.

:36:53. > :36:59.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Just before I do the

:37:00. > :37:08.obvious, I am going to do this because I love Dave Grohl.

:37:09. > :37:12.If you have a drink, put it on the floor, no spillages. We are going to

:37:13. > :37:17.do a Mexican wave from the front to the back. Put your drinks down! One,

:37:18. > :37:42.two, three... Go! Ladies and gentlemen you have been

:37:43. > :37:46.asleep for most of this evening because you have been waiting for

:37:47. > :37:54.the Foo Fighters. However, you are let off. Now is your chance! Please

:37:55. > :37:56.welcome to this stage Team Great Britain.

:37:57. > :38:06.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:38:07. > :38:14.A terrific introduction. 139 medals. 71 of them were gold. Captained by

:38:15. > :38:20.Dave Henson. They were presented with their medals by surgeons,

:38:21. > :38:26.therapists, clinicians, all of whom have played a significant role in

:38:27. > :38:31.their rehabilitation. That is a really, really nice touch. It was

:38:32. > :38:36.incredible to be, to have those guys there that played such a key part in

:38:37. > :38:43.our recovery from start to finish here. Some of us are going to see

:38:44. > :38:50.the pinnacle of our recovery, it is pretty fantastic.

:38:51. > :38:54.Just a terrific statement of team spirit and everything that Prince

:38:55. > :38:59.Harry could have dreamt that it would be.

:39:00. > :39:07.There are just two things left to say, from all of us, every single

:39:08. > :39:10.competitor - I want to hear three cheers for Prince Harry, because

:39:11. > :39:22.without him none of this would have happened! So, hip-hiphooray. And

:39:23. > :39:27.there's one more thing from all of us - without you guys here, our

:39:28. > :39:35.friends and our families, we would be in pieces at home. With your

:39:36. > :39:39.support, we are here, in front of you today. Thank you.

:39:40. > :39:49.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:39:50. > :39:59.That was some speech! Was that just impromptu? Yes. That was impromptu.

:40:00. > :40:06.The guys wanted me to say a little something, something. Someone gave

:40:07. > :40:13.me a microphone and away we went. I like that we kick the ass out of

:40:14. > :40:18.life. They have faced death in one shape or form. Here they are,

:40:19. > :40:22.getting back into it. It is what they are doing - they are loving it.

:40:23. > :40:27.And you'll have to pick up the pieces in the week ahead - it is his

:40:28. > :40:31.birthday tomorrow, 30th birthday, like Prince Harry. There is bound to

:40:32. > :40:36.be a coming down after this amazing high, It It has been incredible,

:40:37. > :40:39.hasn't it? Seeing the smiles on everyone's faces and Dave has loved

:40:40. > :40:44.this week. He is absolutely exhausted from seeing as much as he

:40:45. > :40:53.can. He's been so proud and it has just been amazing. Have you seen a

:40:54. > :40:57.real difference? Well, in terms of - he's so happy, so proud - I think it

:40:58. > :41:01.has been great for all of the athletes in general. He's wanted to

:41:02. > :41:06.make sure they are enjoying themselves as well. He's got

:41:07. > :41:10.pleasure out of seeing them smiling and walking around everywhere.

:41:11. > :41:15.You've had some lovely moments - your granddad was here as well,

:41:16. > :41:20.wasn't he? He came down. Both sets of grandparents came down and it was

:41:21. > :41:24.awesome. I knew my mum's mother and father were coming down. I didn't

:41:25. > :41:28.know Harry was coming down. He did and he got to meet Prince Harry. It

:41:29. > :41:33.was special for them. There were some tears around, all over the

:41:34. > :41:40.place. And Chris, you have been to how many warrior games? The last two

:41:41. > :41:45.years. How different is this - the rules are different. They are

:41:46. > :41:50.competitive. The competitiveness is equal, but the ability at Warrior

:41:51. > :41:57.Games is designed to keep it fresh for up and coming and new recovering

:41:58. > :42:02.athletes or service members - women and men that are coming into sport.

:42:03. > :42:07.So, if we had the open standard, where you have the same grade

:42:08. > :42:11.athletes coming in every year, it wouldn't leave a window for

:42:12. > :42:16.opportunity. So, once an athlete meets a National Standard in the

:42:17. > :42:21.United States, they no longer participate in the Warrior Games. It

:42:22. > :42:27.is more competitive and it is multinational and national as wesmt

:42:28. > :42:33.will you be -- as well. Will you be feeding back - a standing start in

:42:34. > :42:41.ninths, to put on this event is impressive. Presumably there'll be

:42:42. > :42:46.things you will suggest? There are things you want to improve on. Great

:42:47. > :42:53.Britain and especially Prince Harry put on quite a show. They set the

:42:54. > :42:58.bar high for whoever will take it on next.

:42:59. > :43:02.Next year is up for grabs. Dave, Chris talks about the standard of

:43:03. > :43:10.competition, how high it is. You ran the 200 metres in 28 seconds. 28

:43:11. > :43:15.dead. That makes you the eighth fastest double amputee - double or

:43:16. > :43:18.single, actually. You could make the British Paralympic team if you

:43:19. > :43:24.wanted to. What are you thinking about that now? At the minute, my

:43:25. > :43:29.wife and I we have a child on the way. We are happy about that. I have

:43:30. > :43:34.some exciting opportunities at Imperial College and I am studying

:43:35. > :43:38.and the medicine and the science and research is moving forward to

:43:39. > :43:42.benefit the guys. I am quite happy to keep the same level of training,

:43:43. > :43:47.which has been tough this year. My coach has been fantastic. We will

:43:48. > :43:52.stay together and hopefully to the World Championships next year. And

:43:53. > :43:56.in 12 months' time we can see if it is a realistic opportunity. I

:43:57. > :44:00.thought I would go to Rio and the bar was set so high. I have been

:44:01. > :44:04.fortunate enough to spend four or five days with him over the course

:44:05. > :44:08.of the last year. He is a massive, massive inspiration to me. If I can

:44:09. > :44:13.follow in his footsteps that is not a bad way to go. Not at all. It will

:44:14. > :44:16.be a hugely exciting time for you on many levels. Thank you very much,

:44:17. > :44:22.all of you, for coming to this studio. We will head backstage and

:44:23. > :44:25.join Greg, who was trying to catch up with some of those who accepted

:44:26. > :44:32.their medallions. First we will get to your

:44:33. > :44:37.achievements this week in a second. You didn't know Alex would be here,

:44:38. > :44:42.did you? How did you get roped into this? This was the biggest shock. I

:44:43. > :44:49.have been in front of 25,000 people. This is one person - just

:44:50. > :44:54.incredible. Explain your roll in JJ's of rehabilitation? I a am a

:44:55. > :44:59.plastic surgeon who visits Headley Court once a month. JJ was

:45:00. > :45:02.undergoing rehabilitation, hit a plateau and wanted to know what

:45:03. > :45:08.could be done about his hands. What was he like when you first met him

:45:09. > :45:15.and started the surgery, I suppose? He is almost exactly the way he is

:45:16. > :45:20.now. He is most exceptional as a human being, relentlessly positive.

:45:21. > :45:27.He is a joy to look after. That was one of the most wonderful moments of

:45:28. > :45:31.that documentary, your honesty and I cannot remember the quote, but you

:45:32. > :45:35.said about not being an average person because you have trained hard

:45:36. > :45:39.with your skills, and to come to an event like this week and ExCel must

:45:40. > :45:45.be a great moment for you? It is has been the greatest moment of my life.

:45:46. > :45:50.I have done some pretty crazy stuff in my life, but it is unbelievable.

:45:51. > :45:55.That sums it up, 25,000 people treating us like we are rock stars.

:45:56. > :46:01.The other 129 people in our team and the other nations are rock stars -

:46:02. > :46:05.they are all incredible people. I am some joker who turned up. Like I

:46:06. > :46:10.say, it is amazing to be doing this again. You can do the modesty. From

:46:11. > :46:14.everybody who has been following the Games this week you are all true

:46:15. > :46:19.inspirations and heroes. We have enJoed it and we wish you all --

:46:20. > :46:25.enjoyed it and we wish you the best for the next Invictus Games? How can

:46:26. > :46:28.this go away. If it is every two years, all around the world, I know

:46:29. > :46:33.we look forward to doing it again and again and again. As a team,

:46:34. > :46:37.we've had a craziest time. We've loved every second of it. The people

:46:38. > :46:41.who turned up, shaking our hands and saying thank you. I turned around

:46:42. > :46:47.and said, thank you, thank you for doing this. Why would that go away?

:46:48. > :46:52.It has put a smile on one person's face, it is worth it. It seems to

:46:53. > :46:54.put a smile on a lot of people's faces. Have a great rest of your

:46:55. > :47:05.evening. JJ and two of his British team-mates

:47:06. > :47:10.crossing the line together, hand in hand. There is one final act to come

:47:11. > :47:24.and of course only one person to introduce them.

:47:25. > :47:39.Good evening, London. Firstly, I would like to read a

:47:40. > :47:43.short message from granny. At this closing ceremony of the

:47:44. > :47:48.inaugural Invictus Games, Prince Philip and I send our health-felt

:47:49. > :47:52.congratulations to the organisers and supporters of this competition.

:47:53. > :47:58.Most importantly, to you, men and women of the Armed Forces, who have

:47:59. > :48:02.overcome great adversity just to take part in these Games.

:48:03. > :48:19.As I have followed the competition, over the past four day...

:48:20. > :48:28.All of you have raised awareness of the challenges faced by wounded

:48:29. > :48:33.veterans T success of these Games can be measured not by medals won,

:48:34. > :48:39.but by the sense of purpose in your abilities you have gained.

:48:40. > :48:45.I send my warmest good wishes and congratulations to you all.

:48:46. > :48:55.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:48:56. > :49:03.I know a lot of you, most of you, can't wait for the Foo Fighters.

:49:04. > :49:09.Bear with me! I have a long list of thank yous.

:49:10. > :49:18.Thank you to all of you for being here this evening.

:49:19. > :49:23.To all of those watching at home. And to everyone else who has been to

:49:24. > :49:29.watch the Games over the past four days.

:49:30. > :49:34.The support you have shown to all the competitors over these past four

:49:35. > :49:38.days has been truly fantastic. It has helped create an experience that

:49:39. > :49:46.they will never, ever forget. Give yourselves a round of applause.

:49:47. > :49:51.None of this would have been possible in such a short space of

:49:52. > :49:57.time without a huge amount of hard work from a great many people, as I

:49:58. > :50:01.am sure you understand. Donors, sponsors, volunteers, officials, I

:50:02. > :50:06.could go on, but I won't. It is impossible for me to name

:50:07. > :50:12.everybody involved. I must mention Sir Keith Mills.

:50:13. > :50:22.I am immensely grateful to him for embracing the vision and making this

:50:23. > :50:27.concept a reality. Also to the Games board, who have guided the project

:50:28. > :50:39.team as they worked at 100 miles per hour for the past seven months.

:50:40. > :50:43.To Ed, Dominic and the rest of the project team, guys, I am really

:50:44. > :50:53.sorry for all the work, but what a success. Thank you!

:50:54. > :50:57.These Games have shown a spotlight on the character of servicemen and

:50:58. > :51:01.women and their families, their Invictus spirit. On Wednesday

:51:02. > :51:04.evening, I said the Games would mark the end of one chapter and the

:51:05. > :51:09.beginning of a new one. All of the competitors have tonight

:51:10. > :51:13.received a participation medal. For some, this is every bit as

:51:14. > :51:19.significant as the gold medals are to the winners. These Games have

:51:20. > :51:24.been about seeing guys sprinting for the finish line and then turning

:51:25. > :51:28.around to count the last man in. They have been about team-mates, not

:51:29. > :51:33.wanting to come second, but not wanting the other guys to either.

:51:34. > :51:35.These Games have shown the very best of human spirit.

:51:36. > :51:49.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:51:50. > :51:53.Many of us have friends who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and are

:51:54. > :51:58.no longer with us this evening. We just want to take a moment to

:51:59. > :52:04.remember them. And then, there are others, perhaps

:52:05. > :52:08.watching at home, at an earlier stage of their recovery, or for whom

:52:09. > :52:13.the challenges ahead seem unsurmountable. We knew these Games

:52:14. > :52:16.would inspire people to overcome their challenges, whether physical

:52:17. > :52:21.or mental and try something they thought was impossible. A lady

:52:22. > :52:27.called Kara e-mailed us about the Games and what it meant to her. She

:52:28. > :52:30.said, "I struggled for ten years with autoimmune problems. Now I feel

:52:31. > :52:35.I can start to see myself as someone new. Up until my awareness of the

:52:36. > :52:40.Invictus Games I was living in memories and mourning for what I had

:52:41. > :52:45.lost when I got sick at the age of 24. In my mind, my life was over and

:52:46. > :52:51.I was just waiting to be done. Because I felt I wasn't capable over

:52:52. > :52:54.doing or living like I used to. I am starting to think now that my game

:52:55. > :53:07.has just begun too." These last four days have shown how

:53:08. > :53:12.effective sport is in recovery. It allows the mind and body to heal,

:53:13. > :53:16.but it is a means to an end, not an end in itself.

:53:17. > :53:27.So, what comes next? For many of these great people, what comes next

:53:28. > :53:32.is jobs. And Foo Fighters! By definition, servicemen and women are

:53:33. > :53:35.highly skilled, well trained and motivated people. Many of those

:53:36. > :53:39.injured are young men and women, with their whole lives ahead of

:53:40. > :53:44.them. For those no longer able to serve in the Armed Forces, the

:53:45. > :53:53.future is often uncertain. However, we should be there, ready to support

:53:54. > :54:05.them if or when they need it. For a few... Sorry, this is dragging

:54:06. > :54:09.on! For a few, it is important, for a, this may mean long-term physical

:54:10. > :54:12.and mental support. For the majority it means fulfilling employment, not

:54:13. > :54:18.special treatment, but to be treated as they were before injury, with

:54:19. > :54:27.respect, admiration and recognition for their considerable talents.

:54:28. > :54:33.As the focus inevitably moves elsewhere, through the work of our

:54:34. > :54:37.foundation, William and I will continue to draw attention to the

:54:38. > :54:41.challenges facing all those leaving the Armed Forces, whether wounded or

:54:42. > :54:46.not. And ensure that they can do so with purpose, with hope and with

:54:47. > :54:50.confidence. They are a credit to our nation and to each nation here at

:54:51. > :55:00.these Games. CHEERING AND

:55:01. > :55:04.APPLAUSE I am almost done. I have Dave Grohl screaming at me

:55:05. > :55:11.from behind! He's not... He's really old - come

:55:12. > :55:16.on! Two years ago, Britain hosted the

:55:17. > :55:22.most incredible Olympic and Paralympic Games.

:55:23. > :55:27.Two months ago, we did it with the Commonwealth Games.

:55:28. > :55:34.And now you have done it again with the first ever Invictus Games.

:55:35. > :55:41.It is what we do and don't we do it well?

:55:42. > :55:53.And to you guys, the competitors, wow, thank you for an awesome week.

:55:54. > :55:59.And a personal joke to Team GB - oh, backs ter, you know I don't speak

:56:00. > :56:02.span -- Baxter, you know I don't speak Spanish - you win. I hope

:56:03. > :56:05.other cities in Britain and other countries will look at this

:56:06. > :56:08.competition, what it has meant to those taking part and the

:56:09. > :56:12.inspiration it has given to all those watching and take up the

:56:13. > :56:18.challenge for the next Invictus Games.

:56:19. > :56:22.Finally, I want to thank all the artists who have given up their time

:56:23. > :56:25.to support the cause and come and entertain you. Thank you.

:56:26. > :56:41.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:56:42. > :56:54.It says here crowd surf... Question mafrget much better, I am going to

:56:55. > :56:56.-- question mark. Much better, I am going to introduce you to the foo

:56:57. > :57:34.fights. -- Foo Fighters. # It's times like these

:57:35. > :58:08.you learn to live again # It's times like these

:58:09. > :58:12.you give and give again # It's times like these

:58:13. > :58:17.you learn to love again # It's times like these

:58:18. > :58:28.time and time again # I'm a brand new sky

:58:29. > :58:41.to hang the stars upon tonight # Do I stay or run away

:58:42. > :58:53.and leave it all behind? # It's times like these

:58:54. > :59:02.you learn to live again # It's times like these

:59:03. > :59:06.you give and give again # It's times like these

:59:07. > :59:11.you learn to love again # It's times like these

:59:12. > :00:12.time and time again # It's times like these

:00:13. > :00:26.you learn to live again # It's times like these

:00:27. > :00:29.you give and give again # It's times like these

:00:30. > :00:34.you learn to love again # It's times like these

:00:50. > :00:54.you learn to love again # It's times like these

:00:55. > :09:17.time and time again want to tell you about - first the

:09:18. > :09:23.Jaguar Award, awarded to an athlete who have performed beyond all others

:09:24. > :09:28.and this was made by Catherine Granger, the Olympic champion. The

:09:29. > :09:39.winner tonight of the exceptional performance award is Joe Townsend of

:09:40. > :09:45.the British Armed Forces. He is 26 years old. He stepped on a

:09:46. > :09:49.tank mine in 2008, lost both his legs. Has been here winning four

:09:50. > :09:54.gold medal ossen the opening day on the track. A bronze and silver on

:09:55. > :09:59.Saturday in the hand cycling. An amazing performance from him and the

:10:00. > :10:04.other special award was the Land Rover Award. This was for an athlete

:10:05. > :10:08.who inspired other people, inspired those who were watching him as well.

:10:09. > :10:14.This was made by the Rugby World Cup winner.

:10:15. > :10:21.It gives me great pleasure to announce the winner of the

:10:22. > :10:28.unconquerorable soul award. Give a massive round of applause for

:10:29. > :10:34.Maurice Manuel. He is the Danish captain. He stepped

:10:35. > :10:45.on an IED and had his leg amputated in 2011. He has taken part in 400

:10:46. > :10:50.metres and others. You can tell he's not a man who takes no for an

:10:51. > :10:54.answer. That is what the last five days have been about. Prince Harry

:10:55. > :10:59.summed it up. He said this is not just about the power of sport to

:11:00. > :11:05.rehabilitate and restore, it is about what happens next. It is about

:11:06. > :11:11.employers seeing talent, ability, seeing the competitors here and the

:11:12. > :11:14.wider field of those and seeing them for what they can contribute. It is

:11:15. > :11:18.not about anybody being in a game which is coming to an end. It is

:11:19. > :11:22.about the beginning of a new game. I thought the whole documentary was

:11:23. > :11:25.incredible. The start of the week where Dave Henson said, my life can

:11:26. > :11:31.start again because of Invictus. I think that was one of the most

:11:32. > :11:35.powerful thingsvy seen across the whole -- things I seen across the

:11:36. > :11:43.coverage. Harry said, it is what we do and don't we do it well.

:11:44. > :11:47.A big thank you to the competitors, to the artists and to Prince Harry,

:11:48. > :11:54.whose brain child this was. And a great way to finish is to rejoin

:11:55. > :12:29.what is happening on the main stage and the Foo Fighters.

:12:30. > :13:12.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Thank you! Ladies and gentlemen, I'm

:13:13. > :13:20.going to sing a song... Yeah. I'm going to do a song that I hope you

:13:21. > :13:29.will sing with me. If you know it. If you don't... Just seeing what the

:13:30. > :13:35.guy next to you is singing! -- just saying. It's going to sound real

:13:36. > :13:40.good! You got a medal, man. What did you win? Look at you! Ha -ha!

:13:41. > :14:07.Congratulations! Thank you very much. This song, let

:14:08. > :14:11.me tell you, I might sing this song to you but I'm going to sing this

:14:12. > :14:17.song to all of the athletes that came out and played at this thing.

:14:18. > :14:22.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Because the reason why we are here

:14:23. > :14:26.is for you. We haven't been here in a few years, you know. It's a while

:14:27. > :14:36.since we've played in this country. So... We came here. I got a call

:14:37. > :14:46.from a friend. My friend said, hey, is it OK if I give Prince Harry your

:14:47. > :14:53.phone number? And I said, erm, OK... Everybody else has it! Why not

:14:54. > :15:00.Prince Harry? He called me up and we talked a little bit. He told me

:15:01. > :15:03.about what was happening here and we haven't been here in a long time and

:15:04. > :15:13.it seemed like the perfect way to combat and play a bit for you,

:15:14. > :15:20.because... -- to come back and play. Because we wanted to return for you.

:15:21. > :15:25.So this song goes out to everybody that's here tonight, everybody that

:15:26. > :15:27.was involved in the events. I'm very happy and honoured to be here.

:15:28. > :15:39.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE # I've got another confession

:15:40. > :15:40.to make! # Everyone's got their chains

:15:41. > :15:43.to break # The best, the best

:15:44. > :15:58.the best of you? # The best, the best

:15:59. > :16:07.the best of you? # You gave me something

:16:08. > :16:24.that I didn't have # Is someone getting the best

:16:25. > :17:13.the best, the best, the best of you? # Is someone getting the best

:17:14. > :17:27.the best, the best, the best of you? # The life, the love

:17:28. > :18:09.you'd die to heal # The hope that starts

:18:10. > :18:11.the broken hearts # Is someone getting the best

:18:12. > :19:42.the best, the best, the best of you? AUDIENCE: Whoa, whoa, whoa

:19:43. > :19:50.# Whoa, whoa, whoa # Whoa, whoa, whoa

:19:51. > :20:32.# Whoa, whoa, # Whoa, whoa, whoa

:20:33. > :21:43.# Whoa, whoa, whoa. # Well, I've got another confession

:21:44. > :21:46.my friend # I'm getting tired

:21:47. > :21:52.of starting again # Were you born to resist

:21:53. > :22:03.or be abused? # Is someone getting the best

:22:04. > :22:26.the best, the best, the best of you? # Has someone taken your faith?

:22:27. > :22:30.It's real, the pain you feel # Is someone getting the best

:22:31. > :22:43.the best, the best, the best of you?
