:02:06. > :02:11.success. When it goes right, no one complains. But when it goes wrong,
:02:11. > :02:16.it is the local committee that suffers. The administration period,
:02:16. > :02:26.while difficult for all involved, will give stability to the club in
:02:26. > :02:32.
:02:32. > :02:37.What state you think footballers in at the moment? What state? I think
:02:37. > :02:41.Football League chairman -- the Football League chairman was very
:02:41. > :02:44.clear, awful. I doubt there how many clubs are insolvent out of the
:02:44. > :02:48.72 in the Football League but I should think it is a huge
:02:48. > :02:54.percentage. It is long overdue but football is finally waking up.
:02:54. > :03:01.Financial fair play is coming and not a moment too soon. Uefa are
:03:01. > :03:05.driving financial fair play. Their total or the big clubs in Europe,
:03:05. > :03:11.what they spend and what they make. The income for all of depression
:03:11. > :03:14.that professional clubs is �10 billion across Europe but
:03:14. > :03:18.expenditure is �12 billion. It is unstable and something has to
:03:18. > :03:22.change. What is proposed is that for next season, clubs in the
:03:22. > :03:27.Championship, including Ipswich and Peterborough, would work to a new
:03:27. > :03:34.breed even model, were they can only spend what they make. -- break
:03:34. > :03:39.even. If not, they can face fines and bans. The Revenue we generate
:03:39. > :03:43.has to match the expenditure that we spend on behalf of the club.
:03:43. > :03:48.There is a level of deviation that is allowed, certainly for the first
:03:48. > :03:53.6-8 years and that will be reduced year on year. The implications of
:03:53. > :03:56.not breaking even within that deviation figure means that clubs
:03:56. > :04:02.will be fined and that money will then be distributed among the other
:04:02. > :04:06.clubs. How does it affect a club like Ipswich, who have historically
:04:06. > :04:11.live beyond their means? Last count, there debt was �66 million.
:04:11. > :04:17.How sustainable is Ipswich? Bury sustainable. We are very fortunate
:04:17. > :04:21.to have it usually supportive owner in the form of Marcus Evans -- very
:04:21. > :04:24.sustainable. His desire to support the team and to build a team here
:04:24. > :04:31.that can take promotion through to the Premiership at the earliest
:04:31. > :04:34.opportunity has not waved one iota other than a -- last few seasons.
:04:34. > :04:38.Stevenage are a club hoping to be playing in the Championship next
:04:38. > :04:44.season and are also hoped that also helped by a wealthy owned it. Phil
:04:44. > :04:48.Wallace has been but -- running them for years, and there are a
:04:48. > :04:52.model for most. The chairman has to earn the trust of fans by making
:04:52. > :04:57.the right decisions and not putting the club into bankruptcy and not
:04:57. > :05:07.going down that slippery road. That is not easy, because fans want to

:05:08. > :05:10.win. It is funny, but share men want to win as well. -- chairman.
:05:10. > :05:13.It worries me to see some of the Premier League finances, because
:05:13. > :05:17.they are relying on the past and hoping that the future is going to
:05:17. > :05:22.be as successful. When you look at clubs like Man City, they want to
:05:22. > :05:26.buy the lead. Look at Crawley, they want to buy the lead. But do they
:05:26. > :05:30.have the financial backing to keep them solvent? There is one area
:05:30. > :05:34.where football clubs can make big savings, the players. They might
:05:34. > :05:41.have to get used to live where salaries become more realistic.
:05:41. > :05:45.is going to have to impact players' salaries going forward but speaking
:05:45. > :05:48.to Peers across the Championship, everybody is facing this and what
:05:48. > :05:54.we will definitely see is the reduction in players' salaries
:05:54. > :05:57.going forward. Are you ready for salaries to drop? I think you have
:05:57. > :06:01.got to have in the back of your mind that it may have to drop but
:06:01. > :06:04.as a player, you should be paid watch you feel you deserve. Again,
:06:05. > :06:08.this is football, it is the business and it is not fair on the
:06:08. > :06:12.fans to see clubs going into administration and having financial
:06:12. > :06:17.difficulties, but as a player, you have got things that you need take
:06:17. > :06:23.care of two. The need to lower player wages is obvious. It
:06:23. > :06:27.Ipswich's case it is around 80% of their entire turnover. Clubs like
:06:27. > :06:32.Southend are already restricted by a salary cap, which restricts the
:06:32. > :06:35.player wages to 60% of turnover. Next year, clubs in League One will
:06:36. > :06:39.introduce a similar model. So financial fair play is here to stay,
:06:40. > :06:43.but on its way out it seems is the football creditors rule, which
:06:43. > :06:46.allows clubs and players to be paid in full if the team for some two
:06:46. > :06:56.administration, while other creditors have to accept a fraction
:06:56. > :06:56.
:06:56. > :07:00.of what is owed. If you took that away, it fire and then playing a
:07:00. > :07:03.team in the FA Cup and I know they are insolvent -- if I am then

:07:36. > :07:40.and agents might be the biggest losers. Few will complain on the
:07:40. > :07:44.terraces if football manages to balance the books.
:07:44. > :07:48.Adrian, in this region, Ipswich and Northampton amongst others have all
:07:48. > :07:53.gone into administration but you were at Luton when they had their
:07:53. > :07:56.financial problems. Yes, a very difficult time. I was playing
:07:56. > :08:00.first-team football, regular football, but I also had a family
:08:00. > :08:05.to support, so the players at that moment in time were getting no
