:00:00. > :00:00.Ten months, 46 games. For some it came down to one final match, for

:00:07. > :00:28.others the story continues. Mission accomplished. Northampton

:00:29. > :00:31.Town's great escape is complete. We've the story of a memorable and

:00:32. > :00:38.emotion charged afternoon at Sixfields.

:00:39. > :00:43.We're staying up, we're staying up! Come on, come on!

:00:44. > :00:45.All roads lead to Wembley for the region's play`off hopefuls,

:00:46. > :00:53.including Cambridge. Just 90 minutes from joining Luton Town back in the

:00:54. > :00:56.Football League. And it's the one they're all talking

:00:57. > :01:06.about. Who's made it into the Late Kick Off East coveted Team Of The

:01:07. > :01:08.Season? Hello, good evening. Time flies when

:01:09. > :01:12.you're enjoying yourself. We've reached the end of a series that

:01:13. > :01:15.started with seven clubs in the East and could well end with ten, one of

:01:16. > :01:20.which could be counting the cost. We'll have more on Norwich's Premier

:01:21. > :01:27.League plight a little later. First we will introduce our

:01:28. > :01:31.million`dollar men. Macca you have been with us throughout and you have

:01:32. > :01:34.not missed a trick. No, I've saved my best shirt for last. Best shirt,

:01:35. > :01:38.the very sharp Paul McVeigh. Back again, Ian Atkins, you have managed

:01:39. > :01:41.every club in the region. To be fair, yes. They have all stayed up.

:01:42. > :01:45.They have all stayed up so you will be back next season. The bottom two.

:01:46. > :01:47.We will start with Northampton. It has been a really precarious

:01:48. > :01:52.situation for them. They were six points adrift at one stage. The

:01:53. > :01:55.appointment of Chris Wilder though gave Cobblers fans hope. They were

:01:56. > :01:58.preparing for their final match of the season on Saturday. Almost 100

:01:59. > :02:11.years of football history was at stake.

:02:12. > :02:19.Across the goal, nobody there. It is a goal.

:02:20. > :02:27.This was the moment Northampton Town have been waiting for. The Cobblers

:02:28. > :02:31.have got to win today to stay up. They have scored! And the Cobblers

:02:32. > :02:34.lead by three goals to two. That's it, it is all over. They have done

:02:35. > :02:39.it. What a match! Carter with the corner kick. He

:02:40. > :02:45.touched it, he does not get it clear. Oh, Toney! It is a

:02:46. > :02:50.sensational goal! That is remarkable.

:02:51. > :02:55.Well, they've survived before, could they do it again? This was how the

:02:56. > :02:58.bottom of League Two looked on Saturday morning. Torquay were

:02:59. > :03:01.already relegated and Northampton were one of three teams, along with

:03:02. > :03:06.Bristol Rovers and Wycombe, also fighting for football league

:03:07. > :03:12.survival. Here is their story of a dramatic final day at Sixfields.

:03:13. > :03:15.Good morning to you. Welcome to BBC Radio Northamptonshire. This is the

:03:16. > :03:19.Saturday Breakfast Show. Of course, if you are just waking up and you

:03:20. > :03:28.are a Cobblers fan, I wonder how you are feeling this morning.

:03:29. > :03:33.Northampton need one more point to stay up and it's their last game of

:03:34. > :03:36.the season. How big is this day as a Northampton fan? It is everything,

:03:37. > :03:39.if we go down they reckon we could lose ?1 million and I do not want to

:03:40. > :03:43.watch Conference levl football personally so it is a question of

:03:44. > :03:46.get the points today, stay up and move on to the next season.

:03:47. > :03:49.The chairman has put a lot of money into the club, does he deserve some

:03:50. > :03:53.success? Definitely. He has pushed us and bankrolled us for the last

:03:54. > :03:56.ten years or so. We are getting the stadium expansion and looking to

:03:57. > :03:59.move up. This season has been a bit of an anomoly so really push on for

:04:00. > :04:03.the chairman and hopefully get promotion next season. I am a fan, I

:04:04. > :04:06.am no different to anybody else, just I have a more expensive season

:04:07. > :04:11.ticket than anybody else but I feel it. You have seen me at the games

:04:12. > :04:12.and I am supporting and I am up and down.

:04:13. > :04:15.Cardoza's pumped millions of pounds into the Cobblers and their precious

:04:16. > :04:19.football league status depends on this game. A draw and they are safe,

:04:20. > :04:22.no matter what rivals Bristol Rovers and Wycombe can do. Shades of 1993

:04:23. > :04:26.when the Cobblers needed to beat Shrewsbury on the final day of the

:04:27. > :04:29.season to stay up. They did it and the hero was Pat Gavin and guess

:04:30. > :04:31.what? He is special guest today. Memories are quite vivid, to be

:04:32. > :04:34.honest. It was an immensely important day, immensely important

:04:35. > :04:37.game which was not going too well for the first 45 minutes but

:04:38. > :04:44.thankfully we got the right result. The support that we had that day

:04:45. > :04:47.certainly helped. If we did not have the support we had, if there had

:04:48. > :05:02.been 500 Cobblers fans as opposed to 2000, I do not think we would have

:05:03. > :05:05.got over the line. How are the fan's nerves holding up? Llet's catch some

:05:06. > :05:08.thoughts. What you think, staying up? Definitely staying up. We will

:05:09. > :05:13.get the point we need. Hopefully this will be the last time.

:05:14. > :05:16.Really confident with the redevelopment going on and the

:05:17. > :05:19.momentum we have in the club that this will be the start of something

:05:20. > :05:22.good. One of the reasons Northampton have a chance of staying up is

:05:23. > :05:26.because of the manager, Chris Wilder, seven wins out of 19 games

:05:27. > :05:29.and out of the bottom two just in the nick of time.

:05:30. > :05:33.The ball is driven towards the near post, the ball flicks and it is the

:05:34. > :05:37.back of the net and it has been a goal here for Oxford. And they lead

:05:38. > :05:40.and things are going to be extremely nervy now as Williams has put Oxford

:05:41. > :05:43.ahead. Absolute nightmare. I said we would concede early doors and we got

:05:44. > :05:46.corners. Now Toney! Between two defenders

:05:47. > :05:51.Toney gets the goalkeeper and goes around him, between his feet. Oh,

:05:52. > :05:58.the post. It comes back and is collected by the goalkeeper.

:05:59. > :06:04.That is kicking out by Williams. Clearly kicking out and he is

:06:05. > :06:08.straight off. A red card for Williams and Oxford will play the

:06:09. > :06:15.rest of the game with ten men. Cheerio! Cheerio! Cheerio!

:06:16. > :06:23.70 minutes to score one against ten men. What's the Wycombe score? A

:06:24. > :06:27.Still 0`0. That is Toney. We get between two

:06:28. > :06:31.defenders and Marquis gets between two more. He scores! Marquis scores

:06:32. > :06:35.for Northampton Town! It may be the goal they keeps them in the football

:06:36. > :06:42.league. We are staying up! We are staying up!

:06:43. > :06:50.This is Horwood just outside the penalty area. It ships it into

:06:51. > :06:53.Toney. Toney with a header! The Cobblers have scored twice in the

:06:54. > :06:59.space of three minutes and they lead here at Sixfields.

:07:00. > :07:02.Come on! Come on! At half`time, after a dramatic first

:07:03. > :07:05.half, that result as it stands so far is totally acceptable from a

:07:06. > :07:09.Cobblers point of view. Keep that score up and maybe add one or two in

:07:10. > :07:14.the second half and the Cobblers are staying up. Patrick will take it

:07:15. > :07:17.towards the back post. Doumbe is there. Doumbe! And there is the

:07:18. > :07:20.third goal for the Cobblers! That surely is three points. That surely

:07:21. > :07:24.is football league status for the next season.

:07:25. > :07:31.We are staying up! We are staying up! Come on! Come on!

:07:32. > :07:36.The referee blows his final whistle. The Cobblers can celebrate survival.

:07:37. > :07:40.Relief, just huge relief. Obviously we will celebrate tonight but it

:07:41. > :07:43.will not be on the fact that we have come third bottom or fourth bottom

:07:44. > :07:47.or whatever it is, we will just get the relief out of the way, a few

:07:48. > :07:50.drinks and then we will start playing for the next season. I have

:07:51. > :07:54.not been worried because I have seen the improvement under Chris and I

:07:55. > :07:57.knew the time would come when got out of the bottom two. It took

:07:58. > :08:01.longer than I thought, but anyway it is done and we are safe and bringing

:08:02. > :08:04.Chris Wilder in is a clever bit of business by the football club and I

:08:05. > :08:08.am delighted that he has had success and he will take us further.

:08:09. > :08:12.That is what I feel, I will get a can of beer in my hand and enjoy the

:08:13. > :08:16.weekend and the next couple of weeks. It has been tough going. It

:08:17. > :08:20.was a tough task that we had on our hands but we have got out of the

:08:21. > :08:24.coffin and managed to take it to the last game and got the result. It was

:08:25. > :08:28.a tight game today and it was great to get the results and secure league

:08:29. > :08:31.status. Next season will be the 95th as a football league club. They did

:08:32. > :08:35.it. Thanks to a new manager, a teenage hero and some good

:08:36. > :08:38.old`fashioned fan power. Everyone ten out of ten final game.

:08:39. > :08:40.So happy it is done now, relief, move on to next season and move on

:08:41. > :08:48.upwards. Jonathan Park reporting on a very

:08:49. > :08:53.happy Jordan Godfrey and thousands of other Northampton Town fans. Ian

:08:54. > :08:56.Atkins, you were a former boss at Northampton Town. Chris Wilder

:08:57. > :08:59.picked up 28 points since January 27th, what has he done in that time

:09:00. > :09:03.to make sure that the Cobblers will be playing the football league next

:09:04. > :09:09.season? Just a bit of belief as well. Winning brings belief. He has

:09:10. > :09:12.had enough time to do it which is one thing, he has not had five or

:09:13. > :09:16.six games and since February they won a couple of games and they did

:09:17. > :09:19.well in the loan market and got some good players in and they got the

:09:20. > :09:21.momentum built, the momentum to create the football.

:09:22. > :09:24.In the last few seasons Northampton have faced a relegation dogfight.

:09:25. > :09:29.What have they got to learn from these escapades, they cannot keep

:09:30. > :09:33.doing this. The funny thing is that the chairman is talking about having

:09:34. > :09:36.success at the club and you just look at the plans they have for

:09:37. > :09:41.Sixfields on what they will do but it is so difficult. One season they

:09:42. > :09:44.are up and looking for the play`offs and the next he's now trying to

:09:45. > :09:48.stave off relegation. It is tough. That is the way League Two goes and

:09:49. > :09:51.whenever you have a mixed squad, and it is a mixed squad, you look at

:09:52. > :09:55.Ivan Toney coming in and scoring three goals in the last couple of

:09:56. > :10:00.games, could he be possibly the answer of what they are actually

:10:01. > :10:03.looking for for next year? It is a mixture. They are flirting

:10:04. > :10:06.with relegation and that should not happen regardless. The celebrations

:10:07. > :10:10.there are fantastic but that is relief but it should be promotion.

:10:11. > :10:14.They heard the warning, three times in the last five years, there does

:10:15. > :10:18.not seem to be a plan. They had a lot of experience players last year

:10:19. > :10:25.that went to the play`offs. They have a big budget. There does not

:10:26. > :10:30.seem to be a plan about whether they build youth or what, what will they

:10:31. > :10:34.do? They have experienced players and they are over the top. They have

:10:35. > :10:38.got results some week and they have run out of leagues and run out of

:10:39. > :10:41.ideas. Thank you very much for now. Northampton are staying up, to be

:10:42. > :10:45.joined by Luton in League Two next season. John Still was with us last

:10:46. > :10:48.week and this weekend he was leading his promotion winning squad on their

:10:49. > :10:52.open topped bus tour in the town yesterday. Great to have him with us

:10:53. > :10:55.last week. What is going to be his top priority over the summer because

:10:56. > :10:59.that trophy is what those fans have been dreaming of.

:11:00. > :11:02.It is brilliant the fact that Luton are starting to have the success

:11:03. > :11:06.that the fans crave. When you look at the squad that he has done it

:11:07. > :11:09.with the most important thing is keeping the squad together because

:11:10. > :11:14.they have scored over 100 goals and over 100 points. Whenever you have

:11:15. > :11:19.got that kind of squad and with Andre Gray as a top scorer, they

:11:20. > :11:22.need to keep him. John Still said that the midfield they have three

:11:23. > :11:27.19`year`olds in there so maybe bring in a little bit of midfield

:11:28. > :11:30.experience could be a help. He has to be wily in the transfer market.

:11:31. > :11:34.This is how managers are made or broken, as Ady Boothroyd find out to

:11:35. > :11:37.his cost. Stilly knows the market, he knows the non`league market and

:11:38. > :11:40.he knows the lower league market and he is a cutie. Luton getting

:11:41. > :11:44.promoted generally the momentum takes you one step further. Do not

:11:45. > :11:48.put it past Luton to be pushing again next year.

:11:49. > :11:57.A real chance Cambridge could be joining Luton back in the football

:11:58. > :12:03.league. A little bit of indecision at left

:12:04. > :12:06.back. Elliot has scored. There was indecision in the penalty area.

:12:07. > :12:13.Donaldson worked it on and Sam`Yorke tucked it in. 11 minutes in, United

:12:14. > :12:22.with the goal they needed. Sam`Yorke will chase. He is away

:12:23. > :12:26.from his man. Sam`Yorke on goal! 2`0! Sam`Yorke doubles United's

:12:27. > :12:33.advantage and put them ahead on the tie. He held off his man after

:12:34. > :12:40.Berry's header. He drew the keeper, tucked it into the bottom corner and

:12:41. > :12:43.the Abbey has erupted. Terrific atmosphere at the Abbey.

:12:44. > :12:48.That victory over Halifax is brilliant for Cambridge. It has been

:12:49. > :12:51.so long, they have tried so many times, what will be the difference

:12:52. > :12:54.this season, do you think, for Cambridge? The worst thing about

:12:55. > :12:57.Cambridge coming into these play`offs was the fact they have

:12:58. > :13:01.lost five out of the last six games but yesterday was the most important

:13:02. > :13:04.one. They have got that 2`0 win to take them into the final against

:13:05. > :13:07.Gateshead. They have played them twice this season already and beaten

:13:08. > :13:14.once and lost so it will be a difficult game. At Wembley anything

:13:15. > :13:17.could happen. It will be great to see them up, it would be fantastic.

:13:18. > :13:21.I did not know it was nine years since they were out but it is a

:13:22. > :13:24.tricky one. Gary Mills is no mug. It will be a toughie but you just

:13:25. > :13:28.would edge Cambridge to be favourites. A key date, Sunday, May

:13:29. > :13:31.18th, Cambridge v Gateshead. Lots more to come this season, we preview

:13:32. > :13:37.the play`off prospects Peterborough and Southend.

:13:38. > :13:42.Should Posh be concerned after firing blanks?

:13:43. > :13:47.Southend meanwhile, they win their dress rehearsal.

:13:48. > :14:00.Coming into the play`offs at the right time, we are exactly in form

:14:01. > :14:04.and I am delighted. The formidable LANDesk task facing

:14:05. > :14:07.Northridge city. If some don't take just a point, the Canaries will be

:14:08. > :14:11.relegated to the championship. If Sunderland lose and Norwich beat

:14:12. > :14:16.Arsenal, they will be safe, but in truth, it looks grim, and relegation

:14:17. > :14:19.would come at a serious cost, estimated at between 40 and ?50

:14:20. > :14:24.million, before you take into account the knock`on effects of

:14:25. > :14:29.sponsorship. Stakes are high, and it has been interesting to see reports

:14:30. > :14:33.suggesting that Norwich city and Cardiff may be seeking legal advice

:14:34. > :14:36.in connection with Sunderland playing an ineligible player earlier

:14:37. > :14:39.in the season. The Premier League find Sunderland and say the matter

:14:40. > :14:43.is closed. Sunderland only picked up a point in those games, but the

:14:44. > :14:48.weekend reports suggested Norwich city among others, feel Sunderland

:14:49. > :14:51.should be docked points. I guess it underlines the desperation to stay

:14:52. > :14:55.in the Premier league, but there is even a suggestion clubs might be

:14:56. > :14:59.considering a legal challenge. It is a messy one, but it really

:15:00. > :15:05.underlines that fact, doesn't it? It does, but the regulations are there.

:15:06. > :15:09.If Sunderland have broken them, I think it is the fact that it has all

:15:10. > :15:12.been sorted out without anybody knowing, and the Premier League and

:15:13. > :15:16.made the decision to find them, but everybody has found out afterwards.

:15:17. > :15:22.That is what sticks in peoples throats. I just think... I

:15:23. > :15:25.understand the rules and regulations are there, but I don't know what

:15:26. > :15:28.they can do. If the Premier League have already dealt with it, and they

:15:29. > :15:32.are now trying to go and almost try to do something else because they

:15:33. > :15:36.weren't happy with the outcome, it is such a difficult one. I suppose

:15:37. > :15:40.it just completely takes away from matters on the pitch. And I suppose

:15:41. > :15:46.the other element of this is that, by Wednesday, if Sunderland win, the

:15:47. > :15:50.matter is resolved. I suppose that is the point, because if there is

:15:51. > :15:53.only one points difference, possibly in the relegation zone, you can see

:15:54. > :15:58.that they might want to fight for that point, but actually, they are

:15:59. > :16:02.two points ahead at the moment. If they win next weekend, it will

:16:03. > :16:06.probably be immaterial. You will probably find that the three points

:16:07. > :16:10.at the end of the season, if there is a bit of trouble, they might be

:16:11. > :16:14.looking at that. Who would be a manager in this position? What is

:16:15. > :16:18.Neil Lennon to do? If you get a chance against Arsenal, why should

:16:19. > :16:23.he do? The only thing he can do, because this is completely out of

:16:24. > :16:25.his control, he just needs to make sure his players are focused, and

:16:26. > :16:31.that is difficult with all these other things going on around you, to

:16:32. > :16:34.make sure your players are focused. He is going to concentrate on the

:16:35. > :16:38.pitch, and hopefully West Brom will get a decent result at Sunderland,

:16:39. > :16:43.and give them the opportunity on Sunday. So Norwich could be playing

:16:44. > :16:51.Ipswich again next season. Ipswich rounded off their final game of the

:16:52. > :16:54.season with a win. What has impressed you most about what Mick

:16:55. > :16:57.McCarthy has done to my career the matter I think when you look at

:16:58. > :17:02.David McGoldrick, he has been out since Hariri, and he was the top

:17:03. > :17:06.goal`scorer. This lad Darryl Murphy has stepped up and played so well,

:17:07. > :17:11.and the fact that Tommy Smith is coming and scored that there, but

:17:12. > :17:17.how well has make them for you? Fantastic. We were seven points

:17:18. > :17:22.adrift and we took command. And he hasn't done it with a large margin?

:17:23. > :17:25.No, it just shows you the inconsistency. To finish just four

:17:26. > :17:30.points of the play`offs, I think that is a fantastic achievement. How

:17:31. > :17:33.far can I go? He thought about consistency and stability, but how

:17:34. > :17:37.far can I get you? I think consistency is a massive one in all

:17:38. > :17:43.the football leagues, but especially in the championship. You have to be

:17:44. > :17:46.consistent first. It Ipswich at producing young kids to the

:17:47. > :17:50.experienced this year, they could have it. When you think they can

:17:51. > :17:53.read next season? I think they can definitely get to the play`offs. The

:17:54. > :17:58.fact that they are teetering on the blink of the play`offs for pretty

:17:59. > :18:01.much the last couple of months, I think honestly, McGoldrick and Daryl

:18:02. > :18:06.Murphy upfront next season would be a massive handful for any defence in

:18:07. > :18:10.the championship. So if you can keep them to fit, you have a great

:18:11. > :18:13.chance. Thank you very much. And now, to our preview of the

:18:14. > :18:16.play`offs. Peter Rook versus Southend. The Shrimpers looking

:18:17. > :18:21.decent nick, unbeaten in their last four. He had a dress rehearsal with

:18:22. > :18:26.Burton, and they will be facing them in the play`offs. They look very

:18:27. > :18:33.tidy was yes, and they have made a view changes. Surely, the

:18:34. > :18:38.possibility that you could play Southend, in the play`offs, you just

:18:39. > :18:42.want to put out your strongest team to get the wind going in the last

:18:43. > :18:51.game of the season. You want that momentum, don't you? Also, I think

:18:52. > :18:54.Barry Corr scored six goals. He would be delighted. He just scored

:18:55. > :19:03.against Burton last week and, now he has them in the play`offs. I think

:19:04. > :19:07.Gary rout has mist a trick there. What is to come in terms of the

:19:08. > :19:10.player battle? It's all about pressure, bottle, experience.

:19:11. > :19:16.A lot of things will come into play now. I am delighted that me and the

:19:17. > :19:19.backroom staff, and a number of the players, have got experience at this

:19:20. > :19:24.level. It is interesting, Ian, because of her body knows Phil Brown

:19:25. > :19:26.from the permanent tan, the half`time team talk, but what it is

:19:27. > :19:31.about the way he manages which gives fans hope and means that clubs like

:19:32. > :19:37.Southend wanting? One, he has got the experience. He has been at fault

:19:38. > :19:42.in a long time with Sam Allardyce as well. He knows how to grind out

:19:43. > :19:46.results. It is a division, as well, if you haven't quite got the quality

:19:47. > :19:52.of the top teams, you got to grind results out. Paul, you worry, serve

:19:53. > :19:56.the mind games required. What is required mentally for players at

:19:57. > :20:01.this time of year? It is all about holding your nerve, because I don't

:20:02. > :20:04.know if you can call the two games cup finals, but those two games

:20:05. > :20:08.before you have a chance of playing in the play`off final, I think it is

:20:09. > :20:13.a great opportunity for Bill Bryant show, it doesn't matter what level

:20:14. > :20:16.I'm managing at, it's all to do with the experience organisation and what

:20:17. > :20:19.you can bring to the team. I think he has a great chance. You don't

:20:20. > :20:24.think it has been too much of a culture shock? No, just the fact he

:20:25. > :20:27.knows and organising team and he can get them well drilled. As soon as

:20:28. > :20:33.you can do that, you have a massive chance. Dan Bentley has kept 20

:20:34. > :20:38.clean sheets this season. That just a little. Next, League one, where

:20:39. > :20:40.Peterborough's season continues against Leyton Orient in the

:20:41. > :20:43.play`offs next week. We will look at both teams now.

:20:44. > :20:48.First, a rare sight at London Road, no goals. Well, look at this. It was

:20:49. > :20:57.only last year when we went to London Road and got a nail`nil. But

:20:58. > :21:00.I do think it is not a lot to worry about, because Darren Ferguson made

:21:01. > :21:09.eight changes. He is probably resting them. I think they were of

:21:10. > :21:13.game as well. He knows how to go, and they will get goals. At this

:21:14. > :21:17.stage of the competition, the semifinals, that is where you need

:21:18. > :21:21.goals. And he will get them, simple as that. He will be up against a

:21:22. > :21:25.Leyton Orient team who dispatched MK Dons convincingly. What must he

:21:26. > :21:31.worry about? The two guys that scored on Saturday, because those

:21:32. > :21:35.two are very good strikers in League one. One of them being my old

:21:36. > :21:41.team`mate, here's top quality finisher, and whenever you see when

:21:42. > :21:47.they combine, it must be a worry for Darren Ferguson. Yes, especially

:21:48. > :21:50.with their league goals. I think they will just play to that. They

:21:51. > :21:55.have got the capability of doing it. It is great to watch, and I think

:21:56. > :21:58.they will win it. I think it will just be difficult to outscore Leyton

:21:59. > :22:02.Orient, because they have been up at the top of the legal most of the

:22:03. > :22:05.season, in the top two or three, and the fact that they can pretty much

:22:06. > :22:09.give as good as they get in his goal`scoring, that is my only fear

:22:10. > :22:15.Peterborough. Ayes to key data leak Peterborough fan over the next week

:22:16. > :22:19.or so. Saturday, May ten, on Tuesday make up 13, they are back`to`back

:22:20. > :22:22.games and Leyton Orient. Has he got the squad to get through the

:22:23. > :22:27.semifinal but also the final at Wembley? Yes, I think they are

:22:28. > :22:31.capable of getting goals. It is great going into a game, a

:22:32. > :22:36.semifinal, not scoring. It is just not like them. Come they will

:22:37. > :22:40.generally get two, three or four. The way Darren sets of his teams,

:22:41. > :22:44.they will just try to score more goals than the opposition. When you

:22:45. > :22:46.think about the fact that he is manager of the month, Darren

:22:47. > :22:52.Ferguson, and nobody has really done that, he is drawing attention to the

:22:53. > :22:56.fact that he is producing results this season. He brought his team to

:22:57. > :22:58.Wembley and got the win, and whenever you do that, the fact that

:22:59. > :23:02.the players have been there, most players turn up at Wembley, never

:23:03. > :23:06.been there, never seen, the fact that they have seen it recently, it

:23:07. > :23:12.must give them a of help stop there has been a lot of pressure on plate.

:23:13. > :23:16.If Peterborough don't get promoted, they might find getting new players

:23:17. > :23:20.difficult next season. They might face a transfer embargo. Barry Fry

:23:21. > :23:24.was in here in his green suit, saying that his budget is going to

:23:25. > :23:27.be really restricted if he stays in League one, so it must be all about

:23:28. > :23:32.getting in the championship for them. I think they will do it, even

:23:33. > :23:35.though they are up against it. Leyton Orient are a really good

:23:36. > :23:39.team, but I think they have a great chance. And pressure does funny

:23:40. > :23:45.things at different stages, doesn't it? You are a former manager, Ian.

:23:46. > :23:49.Other players cope with pressure? You love pressure. You would be

:23:50. > :23:52.successful to have the pressure, and the pressure of the semifinals now

:23:53. > :23:55.to get to Wembley is fantastic stop I think the players will look at the

:23:56. > :23:59.manager, and the manager will portray the players in those games.

:24:00. > :24:03.The manager knows as much as the players. If the manager is strong,

:24:04. > :24:08.the players are. And they will take that onto the pitch. So that is

:24:09. > :24:13.Peterborough, and the key dates for Southend coming up against Burton.

:24:14. > :24:19.Sunday, May 11, betting against Southend, then Saturday, the second

:24:20. > :24:24.one, Southend against Burton. All of these games are on your BBC local

:24:25. > :24:27.radio station. Colchester confirmed League one status last week.

:24:28. > :24:30.Ian, what is your take on what they have achieved there? So much has

:24:31. > :24:35.been done in the past weeks on a limited budget. They always took

:24:36. > :24:37.about putting youth players through the team, but realistically, they

:24:38. > :24:44.could be competing a similar level this time next year. I think he's

:24:45. > :24:47.done well. It's his first job. He has an experienced helper there as

:24:48. > :24:50.well. By all accounts, they are relying on you than they are going

:24:51. > :25:00.to build up the academy. I think that is the right way to go. He has

:25:01. > :25:04.had none of it all season! The funny thing is, we interviewed him, and he

:25:05. > :25:07.had that, but he has got it there. The thing is, when you see

:25:08. > :25:09.Stevenage, this has probably been the end of such a disappointing

:25:10. > :25:17.season for Stevenage, Graham Westley, down against the team, the

:25:18. > :25:23.champion who have just been promoted. It is really tough for

:25:24. > :25:28.him, but what I think he needs to do now... I don't think they should

:25:29. > :25:31.change their manager. He is the type that will be hurt. I think your

:25:32. > :25:36.manager has two stick together with the team. I am not sure about his

:25:37. > :25:39.comments after the game but on that one. He was saying they are not

:25:40. > :25:44.working hard enough for each other, and they must wipe the slate clean.

:25:45. > :25:46.Yes, but that is a manager. The manager basically pulled a living

:25:47. > :25:50.together. So I would not be surprised that those comments. But

:25:51. > :25:54.if they can pull together again in the summer, get one or two players

:25:55. > :25:57.and, maybe they will be challenging again next year. Do you think he may

:25:58. > :26:02.be needs to get a few more players in? The players at the moment on the

:26:03. > :26:07.ones he wants to have there? Probably not. He has been there just

:26:08. > :26:12.over a year. Sometimes it takes time to bring players in. When he first

:26:13. > :26:17.came in, he had players that had been there for three or four years,

:26:18. > :26:21.now just a year, so maybe they need that extra time to build a stronger

:26:22. > :26:24.squad than before. A big summer for him. Finally, our Team of the

:26:25. > :26:27.Season. Who have been the heroes at the

:26:28. > :26:31.back? Who has led the line? Thank you very much be up suggestions will

:26:32. > :26:34.stop it has been a difficult choice, but here is our 2014 team of the

:26:35. > :26:45.year. Ingol, Daniel Bentley for Southend

:26:46. > :26:49.with 20 clean sheets. Ben Coker in defence, his team`mate. Tommy Smith

:26:50. > :26:50.of Ipswich with six goals has been outstanding.

:26:51. > :26:58.of Ipswich with six goals has been And Aaron Creswell has been in

:26:59. > :27:02.sensational form. Dean Lewington, Mr MK himself, with over 500

:27:03. > :27:07.appearances for the club. In midfield, Tommy wrote, the

:27:08. > :27:14.Peterborough captain. Alongside him, then reads, the MK Dons player of

:27:15. > :27:19.the season. In, Colchester's Freddie Sears, with 12 goals. And the one

:27:20. > :27:26.bright spark in an otherwise disappointing season for Stevenage.

:27:27. > :27:30.Upfront, 32 goals says it all. And Ipswich Town's top goal`scorer with

:27:31. > :27:36.14, David McGoldrick. Finally, manager of the year, a man who

:27:37. > :27:40.secured top league status, Chris Wilder.

:27:41. > :27:52.So, who should feel hard done by? Ian? No one, I think! Apart from me.

:27:53. > :27:56.I suppose you should just have to put in a bit of artistic licence. We

:27:57. > :28:00.had a couple left footers, so the formation didn't go according to

:28:01. > :28:05.plan. That is why I am in this dude you are not on the sidelines! Who do

:28:06. > :28:11.you think will be not their next year?

:28:12. > :28:21.I think if you score 20 or so goals in League one, they will be waiting

:28:22. > :28:23.for you. Aaron Cresswell has also been outstanding. Thank you very

:28:24. > :28:28.much. That is it for late kick`off and for

:28:29. > :28:31.this series. Thank you to Ian Atkins and Paul McVeigh, the perfect

:28:32. > :28:34.pundits. Thank you very much for watching, and for your interaction

:28:35. > :28:39.on Twitter and Facebook will stop best of luck to Posh, the Shrimpers

:28:40. > :29:21.and Cambridge next weekend. From all of us, goodbye.

:29:22. > :29:21.and the grand final with me, Graham Norton.

:29:22. > :29:23.My fellow friends, it's time to get your glad rags on,

:29:24. > :29:27.invite your friends over, and bring out the hors d'oeuvres,

:29:28. > :29:29.because this is one party you don't want to miss.

:29:30. > :29:33.Eurovision! And the UK's 2014 entry, Molly!

:29:34. > :29:40.Catch the semifinals with Scott Mills and Laura Whitmore,

:29:41. > :29:46.and the grand final with me, Graham Norton.

:29:47. > :29:50.With Molly, the UK could finally win.
