:00:33. > :00:40.after the death of the young Walsall player and Tom Reid, D

:00:40. > :00:43.football clubs do enough to look after they'd young players? There

:00:43. > :00:47.clubs in their divisions who may only be screened once or twice in

:00:47. > :00:51.their entire career. With three wins in four games are Derby making

:00:51. > :01:00.a light bid for the play-offs? After a season at the wrong end of

:01:00. > :01:09.the table to Coventry fans think their fans Campbell it off?

:01:09. > :01:15.With me tonight to make you would have paid good money to see going

:01:15. > :01:22.head-to-head, Stan Collymore, a deadly marksman in his day, and

:01:22. > :01:25.crowd favourite wherever he played, Darren Moore. First, is more

:01:25. > :01:32.stringent screening the way to prevent undetected heart conditions

:01:32. > :01:35.in young footballers? With Fabrice Muamba continuing his recovery from

:01:35. > :01:39.a cardiac arrest the mother of young Walsall player is calling for

:01:39. > :01:49.regular testing. Anton Reid was an apprentice when he collapsed and

:01:49. > :01:53.

:01:53. > :01:56.died during a training session five The family and friends of the young

:01:56. > :02:03.footballer who collapsed and died during a training session have been

:02:03. > :02:09.paying tribute to him. One in 330 young people harbour a condition

:02:09. > :02:18.that is potentially dangerous. him to just collapse and day, such

:02:18. > :02:24.a shock. Anton Reid had a promising future. Sadly he collapsed and died

:02:24. > :02:30.in training nearly five years ago, just before his 17th birthday.

:02:30. > :02:36.someone that young, 16 going on 17, to collapse and die, he broke

:02:36. > :02:40.everybody's heart. You don't expect your child to die before you do.

:02:40. > :02:46.had just begun an apprenticeship at Walsall, football was his life. His

:02:46. > :02:51.mother wants to see more screening for all youngsters in sport.

:02:51. > :02:56.would like to see screening done within the clubs, and I think he

:02:56. > :03:02.should probably be done every six months or so. To see what is going

:03:02. > :03:07.on with those children. Because I remember when Anton had his

:03:08. > :03:13.screening be said to me he was one of the fittest children. Walsall

:03:13. > :03:16.have learnt lessons from his death. The club's physiotherapist says it

:03:17. > :03:22.affected everybody deeply. It was probably the most traumatic

:03:22. > :03:28.experience I have had in my life. I put structures in place where a

:03:28. > :03:35.training session cannot take place unless we have defeated within 100

:03:36. > :03:41.metres -- we have the teeth of the later. The sudden death rate in the

:03:41. > :03:45.UK are alarming. Every week 12 young people, often in sport, died

:03:46. > :03:51.as a result of sudden cardiac arrest. Walsall of one of the

:03:51. > :04:01.club's backing a campaign for all 14 to 35-year-old to have their

:04:01. > :04:01.

:04:02. > :04:11.hearts screened. The charity Cardiac Kepler to risk in the Dung

:04:12. > :04:13.

:04:13. > :04:16.says -- cardiac risk in the young, say they won people have their

:04:16. > :04:21.condition that can be treated. Patients are reports third for

:04:22. > :04:25.further tests. That is the muscle in the heart. When we take this

:04:25. > :04:30.view we checked to see how thick the heart muscle is and how the

:04:30. > :04:37.cavity pumps blood. The team at St George's Hospital in London are

:04:37. > :04:43.carrying out research on behalf of the organisation. This man is one

:04:43. > :04:48.of the country's leading cardiologists. Can a simple ECG

:04:48. > :04:53.save lives? Absolutely. There is a screening programme in Italy that

:04:54. > :04:57.has been in progress for 30 years, where every single person between

:04:57. > :05:03.12 and 35 who participate in competitive sport needs to have an

:05:03. > :05:11.annual fitness test including an ECG. There death-rate have gone

:05:11. > :05:16.down from 3.6 per hundred 1,000, to 0.4 per hundred 1,000, and 90%

:05:16. > :05:22.reduction. He has now been asked by the Football Association to look at

:05:22. > :05:28.their current screening procedures. I would say we should be in line

:05:28. > :05:35.with the recommendations by Uefa and Fifa or, and they recommend one

:05:35. > :05:39.screening every two years at least. A undercurrent FA procedures it is

:05:39. > :05:43.mandatory for all sixteen-year-old to have a thorough medical which

:05:43. > :05:49.involves screening. After that is his really up to each individual

:05:49. > :05:55.club as to how often it is done. The Professional Footballers'

:05:55. > :06:00.Association spends around 300,000 each year supporting the tests for

:06:00. > :06:05.sixteen-year-old, but recognises further screening can be costly.

:06:05. > :06:09.The errors are cost measure involved. Because it is not

:06:09. > :06:14.mandatory some clubs with times being hard, think it might be one

:06:14. > :06:19.step too far. But when you get a circumstance like this, I do think

:06:19. > :06:23.cost should be a factor, we are talking about the safety of a human

:06:23. > :06:28.being, never mind a footballer. That must be of paramount

:06:28. > :06:32.importance. The very elite top clubs do have screening in place by

:06:32. > :06:36.virtue of the type of sportsmen they have on an annual basis but

:06:36. > :06:45.there are other clubs in lower divisions who may only be screened

:06:45. > :06:51.once or twice in their entire career. But screening doesn't

:06:51. > :06:57.detect 100% of problems. And on Reid had had a medical at 16, and

:06:57. > :07:00.Fabrice Muamba had been repeatedly tested before his cardiac arrest.

:07:00. > :07:07.We will make sure everybody gets Greens who is eligible, but the

:07:07. > :07:12.real problem is it does not pick up everything. Anton's mother has

:07:12. > :07:20.campaigned to raise funds for screening clinics. An ECG costs

:07:20. > :07:24.just 35. The the obvious question is, should

:07:24. > :07:29.the FA make heart screening compulsory?

:07:29. > :07:36.I think so, when it comes to lives at stake. We have moved to a level

:07:36. > :07:41.with recent events over the last couple of weeks, it has given the

:07:41. > :07:48.football industry to scrutinise the actual area. I would agree, yes.

:07:48. > :07:54.He should be mandatory. Anton's mother said six months, I wouldn't

:07:54. > :07:58.disagree. In professional sport, the 92 clubs we have, their unique

:07:58. > :08:02.group of clubs, is that the heart muscle is being used on a day-to-

:08:02. > :08:08.day basis to the maximum. So you have to look after it like you do a

:08:08. > :08:15.hamstring or a calf or anything. I was just saying to Darren earlier

:08:15. > :08:18.Aston Villa have wonderful facilities, why not allow Walsall's

:08:18. > :08:22.youngsters or in the catchment area, some of the smaller clubs that

:08:22. > :08:25.cannot afford to be able to do that to go and have those cheques, use

:08:26. > :08:30.it every five or six months. It wouldn't cost Aston Villa anything

:08:30. > :08:33.extra. It is good communication between the clubs, and should be

:08:33. > :08:38.mandatory. The big issue for the lower league

:08:38. > :08:43.clubs for those tested at 16, if they stay at those clubs and don't

:08:43. > :08:46.play for their country, they will not get tested again. You have a

:08:46. > :08:51.situation whereby you sign a two- year contract, you have a medical,

:08:51. > :08:55.I only had an exercise ECG twice, at Liverpool and Aston Villa

:08:55. > :08:59.because they will be clubs, but you can quite easily have a four-year

:08:59. > :09:06.contract, resign and not have one for seven or eight years, it is not

:09:06. > :09:12.acceptable. A procedure needs to be set so once you do have want you

:09:12. > :09:16.updated every single year. Again, I look at the centre at St George's,

:09:16. > :09:23.they will have these particular facility available and it is up to

:09:23. > :09:27.the club's to get regularly checked. Interesting what happens now in the

:09:27. > :09:37.wake of recent events. Still to come, the goal which kept

:09:37. > :09:38.

:09:38. > :09:41.Shrewsbury right up in the Birmingham City are back in the top

:09:41. > :09:45.six of the championship after a draw at home to Cardiff but one

:09:45. > :09:55.player not involved in the game was on the mind of everybody at St

:09:55. > :09:59.Fabrice Muamba played more than 60 games for Birmingham City between

:09:59. > :10:04.two dozen than six and 2008. He joined on loan and help them to win

:10:04. > :10:14.promotion to the Premier ship. The pleas of 20 to offer far from their

:10:14. > :10:16.

:10:16. > :10:25.best yesterday as one did it has to Marshall. They did go ahead when

:10:25. > :10:29.this was set up. Cardiff's equaliser caved 12 minutes from

:10:29. > :10:39.full-time -- came 12 minutes. A draw, but the manager thought his

:10:39. > :10:40.

:10:40. > :10:50.side could have taken all three Perhaps not our best side but if it

:10:50. > :10:57.

:10:57. > :11:02.looked like a team was going to win, when this equaliser was scored, the

:11:02. > :11:05.4th League goal of the season. Two minutes later a martial completed

:11:05. > :11:12.the turnaround with a spectacular shot which turned out to be the

:11:12. > :11:18.winning goal. Leicester had to play more than half-an-hour with 10 men

:11:18. > :11:23.and after the skipper was set off, the decision was contested. Forest

:11:23. > :11:28.tomorrow. At this stage the Games come very

:11:29. > :11:35.fast. We have got a few problems in terms of midfield player's

:11:35. > :11:39.availability at the moment. We will get through that. If the players

:11:40. > :11:48.showed the same spirit and application as they showed today,

:11:48. > :11:54.it bodes well. Derby are only five points off a

:11:54. > :12:01.place in the top six in their victory against Crystal Palace. It

:12:01. > :12:05.was 2-0 before half-time, courtesy of this finish by Geoff Hendrick.

:12:06. > :12:12.The 9th goal of the season for fear Robinson made it 3-0 after half-

:12:12. > :12:17.time. Palace as a ghost -- secured a foothold in bizarre circumstances.

:12:17. > :12:22.With Derby miffed about the decision palace took the free-kick

:12:22. > :12:26.quickly and Chris Martin scored. Baron Ambrose was to at the second

:12:26. > :12:36.to put the Rams held out for the club's two thousandth professional

:12:36. > :12:39.

:12:39. > :12:48.A nerve the finish but a good win. We have got separate games left.

:12:48. > :12:58.Les take a look at the running. -- let's take a look at the run in.

:12:58. > :13:02.

:13:02. > :13:07.Obviously you're looking at your home games. Interesting to see what

:13:07. > :13:13.happens in that home game. Two tough away games. Cardiff and Leeds

:13:13. > :13:23.United will be vitally important. That comes off the back of a good

:13:23. > :13:28.

:13:28. > :13:33.They have definitely been up there or thereabouts. Apart from West Ham

:13:33. > :13:37.away which is arguably, and Brighton way, bedding at home, it

:13:37. > :13:41.is horses for courses. If it goes down to the last two games, their

:13:41. > :13:49.opponents have got a lot to play for. Brighton away at Reading at

:13:49. > :13:58.home. They have been the worst team in terms of form in March. They

:13:58. > :14:01.have won one game. They need to rejuvenate. Finally, Leicester.

:14:01. > :14:07.Gutsy performance against Hull at the weekend. Renewed hopes once

:14:07. > :14:15.again. What about those? They are all tough, a local derby against

:14:15. > :14:19.Forest. Burley, never easy. West Ham, the good thing is looking

:14:19. > :14:22.through this that earlier one in March they have scored 13 goals in

:14:22. > :14:26.six games, no problems about them moving forward but they have

:14:26. > :14:36.conceded too many. If you can get the defence right they have got the

:14:36. > :14:38.

:14:38. > :14:44.As for the bottom of the championship, Nottingham Forest is

:14:44. > :14:52.still inching their way to safety, but after scoring at Leeds, goals

:14:52. > :15:02.were harder to come via. Forest hit the post instead of the net twice

:15:02. > :15:04.

:15:04. > :15:14.more. There wasn't Cashel defending and it was Brighton's first attempt

:15:14. > :15:17.

:15:17. > :15:22.on target. For while it seemed it was not going to be Forest's day.

:15:22. > :15:32.In the 4th minute of injury-time, and with bite and down to 10 men,

:15:32. > :15:36.

:15:36. > :15:44.but. Was seized for the home team. -- a point was seized for the home

:15:44. > :15:49.team. We played very well. There was an excellent team spirit. To

:15:49. > :15:53.score a late goal, it would have been easy to accept defeat. They

:15:53. > :15:59.did not do that. The fans were tremendous today. Between them and

:15:59. > :16:02.the players and their spirit, that is what has got us the result.

:16:02. > :16:12.you are Forest fan, don't go away because we have a treat for you

:16:12. > :16:12.

:16:12. > :16:22.later. Coventry began Saturday's gained just two points above their

:16:22. > :16:24.

:16:24. > :16:30.nearest rivals. There has been a long, hard season, but if we keep

:16:30. > :16:37.battling on will be fine. Coventry beat the drop this season?

:16:37. > :16:42.Yes, without a shadow of doubt. has been another roller-coaster

:16:42. > :16:46.season for the Sky Blues. Just 35 points from 39 games has seen them

:16:46. > :16:56.struggling in the relegation zone. Do you think Coventry are going to

:16:56. > :16:58.

:16:58. > :17:03.stay up or go down? I think they are going down. I decided to do my

:17:03. > :17:10.own survey of 100 fans on Saturday. To the Coventry faithful think they

:17:10. > :17:17.will stay up or go down? I think they are going to stay up. I would

:17:17. > :17:21.say we are going down. The we will stay up, absolutely. The prospect

:17:21. > :17:27.of a third tier football next season would be devastating for Sky

:17:27. > :17:33.Blues fans, but today 84 % of them believe Coventry can beat the drop.

:17:33. > :17:38.There was an upbeat mood with the presence of 50 legends, perhaps

:17:38. > :17:48.providing inspiration for the club's current battle. We have got

:17:48. > :17:54.

:17:54. > :18:01.to draw a line in the sand and push Coventry have only lost at home and

:18:01. > :18:05.a championship just once in their recent gains. They are striving for

:18:05. > :18:10.those crucial three points. Relegation from the Premier League

:18:10. > :18:15.two years ago, for different owners in one season and administration

:18:15. > :18:19.twice in three seasons has been a bitter pill for Portsmouth fans to

:18:19. > :18:25.swallow. Their away record this season has been poor. Just one

:18:25. > :18:28.victory on the road in the last six games. Despite a strong Pompey

:18:28. > :18:33.following drumming up support, it was an impressive second half

:18:33. > :18:43.display from the home side that boosted Coventry's fight for

:18:43. > :18:45.

:18:45. > :18:53.survival. Gary McSheffrey netted his eight gold of the season.

:18:53. > :19:01.Oliver nor would sealed the three points 14 minutes from the end. It

:19:01. > :19:06.ended a 2-0 victory and they Arnaud one point from safety. What has

:19:06. > :19:14.that been done for you today? belief has always been there from

:19:14. > :19:21.us. We have made this place the place for teams to come to. We have

:19:21. > :19:26.built up momentum over the last few months. We have only lost one game

:19:26. > :19:31.in eight. Seven to go and we will pick up as many as we can. We are

:19:31. > :19:35.confident of beating anyone at home. We need to just pick up some points

:19:35. > :19:43.a way. Seven games to go and Coventry know it will be a battle

:19:43. > :19:49.for survival. They have got two more crucial clashes against teams

:19:49. > :19:52.in the bottom four. Starting with Coventry, they have given

:19:52. > :20:00.themselves a decent chance. Not that long ago they looked totally

:20:00. > :20:07.out of it. They have done extremely well, Coventry, and they are

:20:07. > :20:13.definitely showing that they can pick up results. I am looking at

:20:13. > :20:16.them and they have great momentum. They fancy themselves out of those

:20:16. > :20:19.fixtures there to continue. It is just worrying that away from home

:20:20. > :20:29.they have not shown their true form and that could be a stumbling block

:20:30. > :20:34.

:20:34. > :20:41.for them. As the Auk old club, Forest, Stan, they are in decent

:20:41. > :20:51.form from. What about that? It's not great. They have to go to Hull,

:20:51. > :20:51.

:20:51. > :20:56.they have got to go to Reading, but I think the important thing is that

:20:56. > :21:06.people like Becks but Blackstock are in good form. If Forest have a

:21:06. > :21:11.

:21:11. > :21:20.good, if it's got, they have a talent - Iraq if they have a good,

:21:20. > :21:26.fit squad, bears no reason for them not to do well. - that there's no

:21:26. > :21:32.reason for them not to do well. are open for business seven days a

:21:32. > :21:37.week on Facebook and you can continue the conversation now on

:21:37. > :21:47.Twitter. It was a frustrating weekend for

:21:47. > :21:54.

:21:54. > :21:59.the Midlands teams. No-one was able without a win. Allan judge went

:21:59. > :22:09.close before half-time. Lee Hughes Louis the best chance of the second

:22:09. > :22:09.

:22:09. > :22:15.half. 0-0 the final score. Walsall fell to capitalise on the ideal

:22:15. > :22:23.start given to them by Andy Butler after just three minutes. Stevenage

:22:23. > :22:33.equalised 15 minutes into the second half. It could have been

:22:33. > :22:42.

:22:42. > :22:47.worse if it was not for this 18 draws now for beans my's sight.

:22:47. > :22:51.That says it all. It is a difficult job because there isn't a massive

:22:52. > :23:01.budget, but they have been competitive in every game. They

:23:02. > :23:02.

:23:02. > :23:12.need just a little bit more quality. As for Notts County, their game

:23:12. > :23:14.

:23:14. > :23:22.against Gunthorpe, it should have been better. -- against Scunthorpe.

:23:22. > :23:28.It's a point in the right direction. Then is to be consistency and if

:23:28. > :23:38.they can get that, they can get into the play-offs. Now to League

:23:38. > :23:41.

:23:41. > :23:45.Two. Shrewsbury continued their search for promotion at Morecambe.

:23:45. > :23:51.Shrews BR in the automatic promotion picture after their third

:23:51. > :24:01.win in four games. They enjoyed the best of the game's chances and

:24:01. > :24:03.

:24:03. > :24:09.finally broke through with just over 20 minutes remaining. The

:24:09. > :24:19.Charlton manager bemoaned his team's bad luck. They couldn't

:24:19. > :24:23.

:24:23. > :24:33.manage a goal against Oxford. Cheltenham and now six. -- are now

:24:33. > :24:42.

:24:42. > :24:52.Davies brings him down inside the penalty area and it is a penalty.

:24:52. > :25:02.Joe Davis has got a red card. He scores. He sent Tomlinson the wrong

:25:02. > :25:04.

:25:04. > :25:14.way. It's got past Tomlinson and it is a goal for Torquay. They have

:25:14. > :25:14.

:25:14. > :25:19.turned the game around. Burton's caretaker manager accused some of

:25:19. > :25:29.these players of giving up the ghost and not been fit enough after

:25:29. > :25:30.

:25:30. > :25:40.a four-match goal hammering from Wimbledon. -- 84 call hammering

:25:40. > :25:42.

:25:42. > :25:52.from Wimbledon. Hereford slipped to defeat when it look Murphy scored

:25:52. > :26:02.

:26:02. > :26:09.with 11 minutes to go. -- when Luke Murty. -- Murphy. what has gone

:26:09. > :26:14.wrong at your old club but now being? There is clearly a lack of

:26:14. > :26:17.confidence. Since the turn of the year, they have lost two games at

:26:17. > :26:23.home to Hereford and Plymouth. Since then it has just been a

:26:23. > :26:28.downward spiral. It is not good on their fitness levels get question.
