:00:27. > :00:31.nice and Port Vale 's new chairman targets the clubs lost generation.

:00:31. > :00:37.We've got to get the people that became disenchanted to come back and

:00:37. > :00:41.start supporting the club. And could Saunders will is really be placed in

:00:41. > :00:46.the championships by the Saddlers? If we win on Tuesday and results go

:00:46. > :00:50.against them, we are back to where we started. It is nice to be at the

:00:50. > :00:58.upper levels of the league. We are having a ball at the moment.

:00:58. > :01:02.I'm delighted to be joined by Steve Froggatt and Michael Johnson. A

:01:02. > :01:06.turbulent 12 months in the history of Port Vale looks to end in

:01:06. > :01:09.promotion. Vale have been stuck in the basement but tonight they stand

:01:09. > :01:19.on the brink of a return to league one and hot on their heels in the

:01:19. > :01:26.

:01:26. > :01:34.race for promotion are our other mistake. The ball goes to the corner

:01:34. > :01:44.flag. And they'll have equalised! One more goal for promotion. It's

:01:44. > :01:53.in! He could have just won promotion for Port Vale. The corner is going

:01:53. > :01:56.in. In it goes! And they scored! I do not believe it. Even if the

:01:56. > :02:05.result had stayed at two to one, we would not have been promoted today.

:02:05. > :02:12.We are nearly there. There is work to be done. And it's in! Paterson

:02:12. > :02:22.has touched it in. What an important goal! Three and a half minutes of

:02:22. > :02:28.

:02:28. > :02:38.added time. Burton Albion celebrate. Michael Hector! Yes! They

:02:38. > :02:44.

:02:44. > :02:50.had a full Michael Hector, his first now. -- lead to. How is the new

:02:50. > :02:55.chairman feeling right now? He only took over at the Park in November.

:02:55. > :03:01.Earlier this week, we spent the day with a chairman who thinks that

:03:01. > :03:06.interacting with fans on Twitter is the way forward.

:03:06. > :03:16.Paul Wiles is a new breed of chairman. For him, communication

:03:16. > :03:16.

:03:16. > :03:26.with the fans is key. Port fail up on the crest of a wave. 37-year-old

:03:26. > :03:26.

:03:26. > :03:32.is rising it. -- the 37-year-old is riding it. It is a busy match day

:03:32. > :03:38.but still, I have arrived on the Wirral to meet the chairman at one

:03:38. > :03:41.of his hotels. Nice to meet you. This way. You are 37 and you've

:03:41. > :03:44.built up such a successful portfolio. Yeah, I've been very

:03:44. > :03:46.lucky. I've worked for some talented people when I was young and

:03:46. > :03:50.therefore would be some opportunities that I probably

:03:50. > :03:54.shouldn't have had at the age I was. I managed to take advantage of the

:03:54. > :03:59.property market as it was growing, built a successful student business

:03:59. > :04:07.which I sold and moved on to hotels. Since then, obviously I've built a

:04:07. > :04:11.big training company and now Port Vale, a brand-new chapter. And what

:04:11. > :04:17.an exciting new chapter it is! Automatic promotion looks to be on

:04:17. > :04:24.the cards as well. It was only six months ago that you bought the club

:04:24. > :04:27.for one point 25 million. Automatic promotion would be a good return.

:04:27. > :04:32.dream start. From a financial point of view it doesn't make much

:04:32. > :04:36.difference. From a status point of view, if you like, and about the

:04:36. > :04:42.fans finally achieving a dream, that's something we couldn't have

:04:42. > :04:47.wished for. And he has got to long-term plans. Within five years,

:04:47. > :04:52.he wants to see Port Vale back in the championship. That's right and I

:04:52. > :04:56.think that involves a lot of luck, a lot of hard work from the players,

:04:56. > :04:59.the manager and his coaching staff, but also of the field, you cannot

:04:59. > :05:02.ignore the fact that in order to achieve success on the field and

:05:02. > :05:06.you've got to drive revenues of the field and that is something we're

:05:06. > :05:12.working very hard on. Every penny we bring into the club we have to

:05:12. > :05:20.invest in playing squad. What a memorable night! Bringing the crowds

:05:20. > :05:24.back to Vale Park is one of his priorities, a price promotion for

:05:24. > :05:32.the recent Burton Albion game saw the biggest home crowd in 15 years.

:05:32. > :05:37.It was quite emotional to see the hard work of the people delivering

:05:37. > :05:42.that night. The highlight of the night for me was the reception that

:05:42. > :05:48.John Rudge got. It is quite moving. To see grown men with tears in their

:05:48. > :05:54.eyes was something special and something I will not forget. He is

:05:54. > :05:58.enthusiastic, passionate. He is not from this area. It is not what we

:05:58. > :06:03.are used to so it's really nice. When you've been dragged down for so

:06:03. > :06:11.long and then all of a sudden, you sit back and think okay, we've heard

:06:11. > :06:17.it all before, but no, some -- so far so good. He seems to be on the

:06:17. > :06:22.button. They are a forgiving bunch. They've needed to be. They've been

:06:22. > :06:25.expert at that over the last few years. The key thing is about two --

:06:25. > :06:30.about communication. We need to keep the fans informed about what we are

:06:30. > :06:36.doing. We will keep the fans informed. That is all they ask for.

:06:36. > :06:40.They ask for the players to give 100% on a Saturday or a Tuesday and

:06:40. > :06:43.for the club to communicate with them. Would you say you are a new

:06:43. > :06:47.breed of chairman? Somebody told me the other day I'm the youngest in

:06:47. > :06:52.the football league which is unusual but that's a nice thing. I don't get

:06:52. > :06:57.told those things very often any more. I think I'm not really a new

:06:57. > :07:03.breed. What I bring is good commercial acumen to a job that

:07:03. > :07:11.probably hasn't had that for a long time. So, the buzz is back in this

:07:11. > :07:15.club. It's an exciting time to be a Port Vale fan.

:07:15. > :07:18.It's quite refreshing to hear from a 37-year-old chairman in the football

:07:18. > :07:22.league. His ability to communicate with the fans something that even

:07:23. > :07:25.the more experienced German could learn from. It's great to hear

:07:25. > :07:30.chairman communicating with the fans and making sure the community is

:07:30. > :07:33.part of the football club. As long as fans are told and are aware of

:07:33. > :07:40.what is happening and the boys on the match date go out and try their

:07:40. > :07:44.best, that's all you want. Uses twitter. I know you are a massive

:07:44. > :07:48.fan of social network sites. If you were a manager, you would not use

:07:48. > :07:51.it, would you? The problem is, some of the lads who come into football,

:07:51. > :07:55.they are not particularly the best educated in the world so they are

:07:55. > :07:59.not going to be wordsmiths. They can trip themselves up and get

:07:59. > :08:03.themselves into trouble. How many times if a player has a bad game,

:08:03. > :08:07.you are leaving yourself open to slaughter and it brings a whole new

:08:07. > :08:11.host of problems to the football club. Personally, I think you cannot

:08:11. > :08:17.stop the players from using it. It is modern society, part of the world

:08:17. > :08:21.and as long as the lads are told and educated that it is a tool which is

:08:21. > :08:25.to be used sensibly... Each to their own. You cannot say to a player, a

:08:25. > :08:30.grown man, you cannot use it. As long as they use it as a positive

:08:30. > :08:33.tool, they'll be fine. A lot of football chairman, particularly in

:08:33. > :08:40.our area, could learn a lot from communicating with the supporters.

:08:40. > :08:44.Totally agree. That's one of the problems with fans in our area.

:08:44. > :08:48.easy not to say anything ultimately. Let's not go too far away from the

:08:48. > :08:54.initial point which is that they'll need 1.4 promotion. That's an

:08:54. > :09:00.unbelievable achievement. I think he has done fantastically well. It's a

:09:00. > :09:03.smart piece of work getting his players. They are people whose been

:09:03. > :09:08.around the block and know the game, know what it takes to get promoted.

:09:08. > :09:11.I totally agree. He's done a great job there. He's been around the

:09:11. > :09:20.block and has brought key players in with experience. At this stage in

:09:20. > :09:25.the season, that's vital. On Easter Monday, Wolves recorded

:09:25. > :09:30.their third... The threat of relegation appeared to be receding

:09:30. > :09:40.but make no mistake, two weeks on and they are again staring at a

:09:40. > :10:01.

:10:01. > :10:11.nightmare scenario after yesterday's Jermaine Beckford! Beckford is

:10:11. > :10:11.

:10:11. > :10:21.through the middle again. He has just done that. And what has

:10:21. > :10:37.

:10:37. > :10:41.Whether it is frustration or not, Jamie O'Hara has let everybody down

:10:41. > :10:46.here. Off he goes and it is shameful. It is symptomatic of what

:10:46. > :10:56.is going on at Wolverhampton Wanderers. We had a great chance to

:10:56. > :10:56.

:10:56. > :11:03.make it a win but it went wide. puts you second to bottom, is not

:11:03. > :11:06.looking good. There are two teams above us on 30 points, a couple on

:11:06. > :11:16.51 points so if we win on Tuesday and the results go against them, we

:11:16. > :11:20.

:11:20. > :11:24.are back to where we started. We It's a crazy division. After

:11:24. > :11:31.yesterday's defeat at Ewood Park, Blackburn took the lead with an

:11:31. > :11:41.early penalty from Jordan Rhodes. They settled it in half time. Back

:11:41. > :11:47.

:11:47. > :11:52.to Wolves and these are the remember Huddersfield began the day

:11:52. > :11:55.below Wolves. Now they are above them. What can Wolves do to get out

:11:55. > :12:05.of this predicament? The problem is they've lost four or five players,

:12:05. > :12:08.

:12:08. > :12:11.key players with injuries. It has been one injury after another. I'm

:12:11. > :12:17.finding it difficult to find a case for them to stay up now. I've seen

:12:17. > :12:21.the strain etched on the manager's face. It goes back to the time when

:12:21. > :12:24.you look at the transfer window and they didn't bring in players. There

:12:24. > :12:26.were players that he had identified that they needed in certain

:12:26. > :12:36.positions. They didn't spend the money for whatever reason, whether

:12:36. > :12:44.

:12:44. > :12:49.their wage bill was too high. That understand they had key players out

:12:49. > :12:53.but you have to be competitive. It is a disappointing performance,

:12:53. > :12:59.losing their key player as well. last thing you need is Jamie O'Hara

:12:59. > :13:03.doing what he did when the chips are down. They were 3-1 down already,

:13:03. > :13:09.the game had gone. It was a lack of discipline. Looking at the Wolves

:13:09. > :13:12.midfield, they have whole coming during the week, against a manager

:13:12. > :13:16.who we thought was going to be the manager at the start of the season

:13:16. > :13:21.and for some reason it never happened and you wonder if he might

:13:21. > :13:27.put the final nail in the coffin dash -- they have Hull City coming

:13:27. > :13:32.during the week. Should Dean Saunders' position" a leak? He is

:13:32. > :13:38.more disappointed with errors -- with their run of results. He was

:13:38. > :13:44.manager of them months in the month gone by, then the last two games has

:13:44. > :13:50.hurt them. They have three massive games coming up. They need to win

:13:50. > :13:55.all of them between now and the end of the season. The Wolves team on

:13:55. > :14:00.duty yesterday cost in excess of 20 million. Next season, they could be

:14:00. > :14:05.swapping places with their neighbours from 13 name -- 13 miles

:14:05. > :14:11.down the road. The man they call the ginger Mourinho is doing a stunning

:14:11. > :14:18.job in league one. Laura May has been to meet him. Dean Smith is a

:14:18. > :14:28.manager on a mission. 14 games unbeaten and now just one point of

:14:28. > :14:30.

:14:30. > :14:35.the play-offs. The dream is on. What is the belief like that you can

:14:35. > :14:38.finish in a play-off position? going to be really tough, we know

:14:38. > :14:42.that. Realistically, people are saying we have to win three games.

:14:42. > :14:46.All we can concentrate on is one game at a time and see where you are

:14:46. > :14:50.after that. Our players are good. They want to listen, want to get

:14:50. > :14:58.better and progress their careers. They see this as a great platform

:14:58. > :15:01.for them. To be in with a shout of getting into the play-offs is a

:15:01. > :15:06.fantastic achievement. The Walsall boss has created a squad on a

:15:06. > :15:13.shoestring and he has managed to unearth some hidden gems. Step

:15:13. > :15:19.forward Deano's fantastic four. Grigg with his first senior

:15:19. > :15:25.hat-trick for the Saddlers. He has been a star turn. Deano's fantastic

:15:25. > :15:29.four. I suppose so. You would not want to be facing is at the moment

:15:29. > :15:37.because we can create a lot of things. It causes all source of

:15:37. > :15:41.trouble. A brilliant goal by Jamie Paterson. I am enjoying it at the

:15:41. > :15:44.moment. I have played every game of the season which has benefited me. I

:15:44. > :15:52.have learned from a few mistakes earlier in the season. The goals are

:15:52. > :15:57.going in as well. He shoots, it is there, Randy has put Walsall in

:15:57. > :16:01.front. To be fair, everybody was expecting us not to do as well as we

:16:02. > :16:05.are doing now. We proved the critics wrong. We are a good team. There is

:16:05. > :16:15.a good team spirit. The manager has done well to get as playing

:16:15. > :16:18.football. It goes in. Craig Westcarr. The fantastic four, I

:16:18. > :16:21.would say that. There is James Baxendale who has played his part

:16:21. > :16:28.and a few other players who have played their part as well. It is

:16:28. > :16:35.team effort. We want to go forward by everyone playing together. We are

:16:35. > :16:40.not individual. It is good to have that tag, I suppose. Of a Deano's

:16:40. > :16:44.fantastic four? I am not so sure about that. There are a lot of other

:16:44. > :16:47.players in the squad who will argue that point. They are a wonderful

:16:47. > :16:52.bunch of lads and want to get better. They have been a pleasure to

:16:52. > :16:56.work with and they have got better and better and deserve it.

:16:56. > :17:01.Saddlers travelled to Scunthorpe yesterday, looking for a vital three

:17:01. > :17:08.points to take them into a play-off position. From Will Grigg, that is

:17:08. > :17:15.the opportunity he has been looking for. There was late heartbreak.

:17:15. > :17:19.Cavanagh with a header, it is 1-1. So just two more games to get --

:17:19. > :17:24.Games to go and the fight is on. There is no sign of the Saddlers

:17:24. > :17:31.giving up. This is Walsall's current position

:17:31. > :17:36.in league one, a point outside the play-offs with Bury up next. Can

:17:36. > :17:40.Walsall do it? They are as close as they have been for a long time.

:17:40. > :17:47.believe so, the ginger Mourinho has them firing on all cylinders and he

:17:47. > :17:50.is a People's person. He's great. He has been a breath of fresh air.

:17:50. > :17:56.is so relaxed, we went there recently. I don't think Ronnie Moore

:17:56. > :18:01.would have done something like that. We were just talking, it is about

:18:01. > :18:05.people skills and what you do on the training ground. He has got that. He

:18:05. > :18:11.has people buying into the way he is, running through brick walls for

:18:11. > :18:16.him. Hopefully, that might secure a play-off spot. They have Bury,

:18:16. > :18:21.relegated, Crewe, who has nothing to play for. You can see them winning

:18:21. > :18:25.both games but they are relying on Swindon. Swindon are on the slide?

:18:25. > :18:32.Swindon have a game in hand and an extra point, so it will be close. It

:18:32. > :18:36.is a shame for Walsall, 14 games unbeaten, incredible. With all the

:18:36. > :18:42.success which Deano is having, will the chairman is sniffing around him?

:18:42. > :18:48.Yes, I believe so. I think Deano is a fantastic person. He deserves it,

:18:48. > :18:53.40 has done with Walsall. You have seen the funds. It is a remarkable

:18:53. > :18:57.story, not spending a penny on the players. They have developed their

:18:57. > :19:02.academy and they are starting to bring -- bring kids through. It is a

:19:02. > :19:10.family run club, with the concessions they do for kids.

:19:10. > :19:14.Everybody hopes they can get into the Championship. Deano started with

:19:14. > :19:18.the academy, spot on. Championship promotion chasers are

:19:18. > :19:21.sat outside the play-off zone. Bolton have leapfrogged forest and

:19:21. > :19:31.Leicester with the Foxes pegged back in controversial fashion on Friday

:19:31. > :20:04.

:20:04. > :20:08.for Birmingham City in a last-minute at the stadium? Leicester two,

:20:08. > :20:15.Birmingham two. The fashion in which we considered the equaliser might

:20:15. > :20:25.was very difficult to put into words. -- tonight. We have created

:20:25. > :20:35.numerous chances. We have contributed significantly to not

:20:35. > :20:37.

:20:37. > :20:42.defeat at Cardiff yesterday? We have been given unprecedented access at

:20:42. > :20:48.the city ground. It is promotion crunch time. Natalie Jackson has

:20:48. > :20:53.been back to see how everyone's nerves are holding up. We need a bit

:20:53. > :20:58.of quality, tell them, tell them. the season hangs on a knife edge so

:20:58. > :21:06.the manager needs every ounce from his players. With four games to go,

:21:06. > :21:10.everyone plays a part. Will you sign my book? The chairman flew in from

:21:10. > :21:15.Kuwait this week to see the fans. Over the last 11 games, he has been

:21:15. > :21:22.in the dressing room, inky team meetings, even to the chairman's

:21:22. > :21:26.homes in the Middle East. In the latest of our Access all areas at

:21:26. > :21:34.Nottingham Forest, we are the only cameras allowed on the inside as

:21:34. > :21:40.Billy Davies and flowers are half hourly meet hundreds of fans. --

:21:40. > :21:50.Fawaz Al Hasawi. We are also there at an explosive team talk. And here

:21:50. > :21:52.

:21:52. > :21:58.the reaction after the first defeat city ground. This is the kind of

:21:58. > :22:02.cute you would expect to see on a match day. Pleased to meet you, are

:22:02. > :22:08.you well? Thank you for your support. Over 500 fans are there.

:22:08. > :22:11.I'm happy to be here today. With all the fans, I'm really happy and proud

:22:11. > :22:20.to be with them today. I hope that things will be good for Nottingham

:22:20. > :22:24.for this season and they all will be happy. How are we? He has been known

:22:24. > :22:30.for nine months now and in that time sacked three managers. I think at

:22:30. > :22:35.the point he got me, a bit of worry, but as soon as he brought Billy

:22:35. > :22:40.Davies in, no worry whatsoever. very nice gentleman, genuine, I am

:22:40. > :22:43.full of hope for the future. It's good they have gone to great efforts

:22:43. > :22:51.to do this for us because we have never had anything like this before.

:22:51. > :22:57.I came to my first game in 1947. have never seen anything like this?

:22:57. > :23:04.No, never. The forest badge -- the Forest badge is a special badge and

:23:04. > :23:09.there is an expectation level which we have to try to match. Well done,

:23:09. > :23:15.top man. On Thursday, ahead of the game with top of the table Cardiff,

:23:15. > :23:22.we are at the training ground. done. Your reputation is becoming a

:23:22. > :23:25.bit fearsome. This surprise element is being removed. There is a

:23:25. > :23:29.positive mood throughout training but this week, the strikers have

:23:29. > :23:37.been under scrutiny in some newspapers for not scoring enough

:23:37. > :23:44.goals. It becomes a subject of an ear bulging team talk. We have to

:23:44. > :23:51.give better quality. Tell them, tell them. Because you are the ones who

:23:51. > :23:57.will be in the press and it is your fault. It is not your fault. You

:23:57. > :24:03.have to give quality and get these guys in the press for the right

:24:03. > :24:08.reasons! You are getting killed at the moment and it is not them, guys.

:24:08. > :24:15.He is demanding and we are in that permission -- profession where you

:24:15. > :24:18.need to be demanding. Out there in training, people getting on at other

:24:18. > :24:25.people and making sure they are doing the right things, making sure

:24:26. > :24:35.they are going into the game getting the best possible chance. Greenback

:24:36. > :24:36.

:24:36. > :24:43.-- We have to be shouted at to stay focused. Four against two, play

:24:43. > :24:49.quicker. Four minutes to go, two more. On Friday, training is intense

:24:49. > :24:59.as Davies wins the manager of the month award for March. It all leads

:24:59. > :25:09.up to the game day. It whistles by the post. Forest started sharply but

:25:09. > :25:13.

:25:13. > :25:19.it was the Welshman who took the glorious chance, before he saw red.

:25:19. > :25:24.He's going to the pocket, it is an automatic red. Cardiff were in

:25:24. > :25:31.control. They went on to win three dashed nil, and the ten game

:25:31. > :25:38.unbeaten run came to an end. -- they went on to win three -nil. Is the

:25:38. > :25:43.manager of the month award a curse? It is a nonsense, we have another

:25:43. > :25:48.very difficult game. We way win, lose or get beaten. These things

:25:48. > :25:52.happen in football. The next game is on Tuesday against Middlesbrough,

:25:52. > :25:57.before they play at home to Barnsley on Saturday, then Millwall and

:25:57. > :26:07.Leicester. So there is for games to achieve that unfinished business and

:26:07. > :26:15.

:26:15. > :26:18.grab a place in the play-offs for that was really interesting, the way

:26:19. > :26:23.he was addressing the players in training about the strike is not

:26:24. > :26:27.scoring but the quality of ball and to prove the press wrong. That is

:26:27. > :26:32.the big problem they have had, they have been short of a top-quality

:26:32. > :26:35.winger. Billy is right, he is protecting his forwards. If they are

:26:35. > :26:41.taking the flak and there is not the service going in, there is not a

:26:42. > :26:46.huge amount the forwards can do. There is a lack of wits? He had wide

:26:46. > :26:51.men, he likes pates and wits and players getting the ball in the box

:26:51. > :26:55.but it is close for Leicester and Forest. Bolton are the form team.

:26:55. > :26:59.They have won eight of their last ten and it could go down to the last

:26:59. > :27:04.game between Forest and Leicester. It could be an enormous game.

:27:04. > :27:12.Leicester blown it? I think so, it is going to be difficult. The way

:27:12. > :27:22.they lost the last goal. I don't think it was a penalty but you think

:27:22. > :27:25.

:27:26. > :27:31.it is inside the box. He kept going back towards his goal, you think

:27:31. > :27:36.clear the ball and his final touch, he has made the referee made -- make

:27:36. > :27:41.a difficult decision at that time in the game. Is a sign of the pressure

:27:41. > :27:44.the players are under? I think so, the final part of the game, trying

:27:44. > :27:51.to get the ball under control but really he should have cleared the

:27:51. > :27:54.ball with the final seconds of game. Are one more game to bring you to

:27:55. > :28:04.night, a welcome victory for Chris Kiwomya who lost his first few games

:28:05. > :28:26.

:28:26. > :28:31.You can see all the goals involving our clubs on the Football League

:28:31. > :28:35.Show courtesy of the BBC iPlayer. Thanks to Jonno and Froggy. Next

:28:35. > :28:40.week, we will look at Derby County's academy but we leave you

:28:40. > :28:43.where we started, with Port Vale. It is not quite party time but the
