:00:00. > :00:00.Tonight we got a revealing hnterview from the most improved striker in

:00:07. > :00:10.the Championship but Jamie Vardy tells us he nearly quit the game

:00:11. > :00:14.only last season. And there's the small matter of the East Midlands

:00:15. > :00:24.grudge match and we've got fans from both sides of the A52.

:00:25. > :00:26.THEY CHANT. You might want to stick arotnd for

:00:27. > :00:43.tonight's Late Kick Off. Coming up tonight, could it be worth

:00:44. > :00:46.?100 million? Will the Derbx`Forest showdown define who makes the

:00:47. > :00:50.play`offs? No better time for both sides to find their scoring touch.

:00:51. > :00:56.He's Forest until he dies. Carl Froch is hoping for a Red knockout.

:00:57. > :01:01.Forest`Derby is always a grdat game. Always a full house. There's always

:01:02. > :01:05.banter flying around. Jamie Vardy used to be substituted

:01:06. > :01:08.in time to meet a curfew now he is firing the Foxes to the Prelier

:01:09. > :01:18.League. We are the football show the gives fans a platform. Joinhng me

:01:19. > :01:27.tonight, two men who know about the passion of local derbies. Not so shy

:01:28. > :01:29.and retiring Stan Collymore. And alongside Stan this evening

:01:30. > :01:32.representing Derby, the man`ger of Burton Albion who has also played

:01:33. > :01:38.for the Foxes and the Blues, Gary Rowett.

:01:39. > :01:43.Stick around for that Jamie Vardy interview but first it is the most

:01:44. > :01:48.eagerly anticipated A52 derby for years. Derby County and Nottingham

:01:49. > :01:52.Forest, both on course for `t least a place in the play`offs but for the

:01:53. > :01:57.first time in years the two teams meet for this massive game `t a time

:01:58. > :02:00.when both are in the top six. Here is a little something to whdt your

:02:01. > :02:02.appetite. This is a fixture that provhdes

:02:03. > :02:14.top`level drama. Real chance.

:02:15. > :02:17.It might drop here invitingly. He scores for Nottingham Forest. First

:02:18. > :02:31.strike to the Reds. Let me take a check on the two teams

:02:32. > :02:54.for you then. Finishing the first half with a

:02:55. > :03:07.flourish. What a turn that hs. In the East Midlands derby.

:03:08. > :03:13.That certainly got us going. Has it got you in the mood?

:03:14. > :03:18.Yes. Both teams are represented well You

:03:19. > :03:23.are part of the home team and have played for Derby County in the past.

:03:24. > :03:25.No goals in four. It is a bhg game for the strikers this one for Derby,

:03:26. > :03:30.isn't it? It's a huge game all right. Add to

:03:31. > :03:35.the mix Steve McClaren coming back. Derby just need to keep going. They

:03:36. > :03:40.have been one of the form tdams in the division over the last ten or 15

:03:41. > :03:43.games, they have had a terrhfic run. They have just stopped scorhng as

:03:44. > :03:46.freely as they have done but it will be interesting because one or two

:03:47. > :03:52.teams are starting to deal with that in terms of sitting back and

:03:53. > :03:59.blocking the holes. It will be really interesting. He has come in

:04:00. > :04:04.and had an impact instantly with the fans. Scored spectacular go`ls. Now

:04:05. > :04:08.he needs to score the scruffy goals that when the likes of thesd games.

:04:09. > :04:11.Still the second highest goal`scorers in the division. What

:04:12. > :04:17.about Nottingham Forest? No wins in seven games. 15 draws to thdir name.

:04:18. > :04:23.Will this force them to comd out? I think they need to. They need a

:04:24. > :04:27.confidence boosting result now. They have got to the stage whereby

:04:28. > :04:30.players are starting to comd back. The bench at the weekend was quite

:04:31. > :04:35.strong. They went with Greg Halford upfront. Maybe a bit more

:04:36. > :04:43.physicality. Both sides havd struggled to score goals. Forest

:04:44. > :04:46.haven't won a game in seven. So this will be a proper derby wherd you

:04:47. > :04:50.need people to stand up and be counted. I would play Henderson

:04:51. > :04:53.upfront. This is the question. Will Billy

:04:54. > :04:58.Davies stick with that, plaxing Greg Halford upfront again?

:04:59. > :05:04.It depends. Only Billy knows what attributes they have. I think the

:05:05. > :05:10.specialist role is the man who can get you a goal. The instinct over

:05:11. > :05:14.the guy who can play for a game or two as a striker. I would play him.

:05:15. > :05:18.Get lots of bodies in support and get what for either side wotld be a

:05:19. > :05:24.monster win for the reminder of the season.

:05:25. > :05:28.Where is it going to be won? Like Gary said, Derby keep

:05:29. > :05:31.possession very well. Forest need to block out those holes in central

:05:32. > :05:36.midfield. Have a platform to build from upfront.

:05:37. > :05:45.I agree. I think the midfield battle will be crucial. The way Derby play,

:05:46. > :05:48.everything is through midfidld, very narrow. Great possession so the

:05:49. > :05:51.spaces tend to be blocked up. Let's get the fans' perspective

:05:52. > :05:54.What do you fear most? They have the former striker in

:05:55. > :05:58.Patrick Bamford who has been scoring goals. Jamie Ward has also got a

:05:59. > :06:04.knack of scoring. I think they will be more than up for it and `dd that

:06:05. > :06:07.is my concern. What is it about Forest you are not

:06:08. > :06:12.looking forward to? The defence. I wouldn't want to go

:06:13. > :06:20.one goal down because Forest are good at seeing games out defending.

:06:21. > :06:24.It is set up terrifically wdll. Both teams almost in a similar vdin of

:06:25. > :06:27.form. One man guaranteed to play at Wembley this season is Carl Froch

:06:28. > :06:29.and the world champion may have George Groves on his mind btt he is

:06:30. > :06:39.Forest till he dies. I was probably about eight or nine

:06:40. > :06:43.years old at the most and c`n remember standing in the Trdnt End

:06:44. > :06:52.and I remember we won. I don't remember who was playing. I can

:06:53. > :06:55.remember it being freezing cold My favourite Forest game was at home

:06:56. > :07:01.against Derby and we beat them, I think it was 1`0. Billy Davhes was

:07:02. > :07:04.back on board. Forest`Derby is always a big game, always a full

:07:05. > :07:10.house, always banter flying around between the fans.

:07:11. > :07:17.Mull of Kintyre, the Forest fans sing that before every game. In the

:07:18. > :07:25.City Ground, when there's a full house the atmosphere is amazing

:07:26. > :07:29.It is a big club. Everybody has heard of it so that is what makes

:07:30. > :07:41.our club great, the history. Worst thing about supporting

:07:42. > :07:46.Nottingham Forest, that's a tough one. As far as I'm concerned, there

:07:47. > :07:55.is nothing bad about supporting Nottingham Forest. It's in ly blood.

:07:56. > :07:58.Premiership, of course. Bec`use George Groves is a plastic Chelsea

:07:59. > :08:00.fan and we could give them ` whipping at Stamford Bridge. That

:08:01. > :08:10.would be absolutely awesome. You are carrying his belt in at

:08:11. > :08:13.Wembley, aren't you? I interviewed him the day after the

:08:14. > :08:17.Groves fight and I said I would be more than happy to carry yotr belt

:08:18. > :08:24.in at Wembley. He said no problem so I will wear one of those old Forest

:08:25. > :08:29.shirts. Keep your clothes on for us though.

:08:30. > :08:34.Let's talk to a legendary Ddrby fan. Nick Webster.

:08:35. > :08:39.Nick Webster really is Derbx till he dies, isn't he, guys? Tell ts why,

:08:40. > :08:43.Nick? I am responsible for looking after

:08:44. > :08:46.the flag and making sure it goes to every home and away game.

:08:47. > :08:51.The Derby flagman and you t`ke this flag, 20 foot long, to everx single

:08:52. > :08:55.game. It was in the VT at the beginning there. It helps create a

:08:56. > :09:00.brilliant atmosphere doesn't it The fans own it and it is something

:09:01. > :09:09.we are very proud of. You are the kind of go`to gty, that

:09:10. > :09:12.is what these guys say. Why is that? You go to him whenever you need

:09:13. > :09:15.advice. Whether you are blocking at an away game. You can all sht

:09:16. > :09:19.together. He is the man. Your favourite game,

:09:20. > :09:22.please. When we embarrassed Forest. 89

:09:23. > :09:28.minutes, embarrassed them, brilliant, what a game.

:09:29. > :09:32.You have all been behaving tp until now so I will head over herd to chat

:09:33. > :09:35.to the Forest fans. These are the Fisher brothers and you havd a

:09:36. > :09:40.special story. You set up the fanzine when you were 12 and 14

:09:41. > :09:46.This is it. Stan is on the front. They bunked off school to do this.

:09:47. > :09:50.Not all the time but we used to occasionally wag of school `nd get

:09:51. > :09:57.interviews with players. People such as Stan were kind enough to give me

:09:58. > :10:04.time back in the day. 2000 fans get the fanzine and you

:10:05. > :10:08.still support it. It was a much better time then. We

:10:09. > :10:11.were seeing Stan fire us up to the Premier League and then finhshed

:10:12. > :10:14.third in the league. There have been some bleak times since.

:10:15. > :10:17.Still in the top six. Predictions for the weekend.

:10:18. > :10:21.One goal will decide it and it could go either way. I know it sotnds

:10:22. > :10:26.cheesy but I hope it goes otr way. Of course. This is the fanzhne and

:10:27. > :10:33.Stan is going to sign it later on. Thank you. Let's move on from the

:10:34. > :10:37.A52 Derby. There's no doubthng that the team of the season has so far

:10:38. > :10:42.been Leicester City. They are simply flying. Last season Hull went up on

:10:43. > :10:45.79 points. Leicester alreadx have 80 points with 11 games to go. They

:10:46. > :10:51.have got a 17 point cushion over third place. Let's look at the win

:10:52. > :10:59.over Blackpool. Throw`in into the box and it is in.

:11:00. > :11:09.Goodwillie scores it. He looks to cross left footdd. It's

:11:10. > :11:14.a goal and it is a beauty. Ht's a beauty.

:11:15. > :11:21.Still got the ball at his fdet needs to get across. Heads it and it is

:11:22. > :11:32.on. Wes Morgan with his first of the season and it is a key goal.

:11:33. > :11:36.Right footed. It is into thd back of the net. There is no celebr`tion

:11:37. > :11:49.from Kevin Phillips but that secures the game. It is three to Lehcester.

:11:50. > :11:52.Three more points. Bit of magic there at Leicester

:11:53. > :11:56.Jamie Vardy not on the scordsheet but for many fans he has bedn the

:11:57. > :12:00.player of the season. Would you agree with that?

:12:01. > :12:05.Certainly would. He has been the most effectual player this season

:12:06. > :12:08.for us. He has come back from a difficult season last year. He is

:12:09. > :12:11.much better. He can head thd ball, he's two footed but most of all he

:12:12. > :12:14.has electric pace which trotbles defenders and I believe him to be

:12:15. > :12:22.the most feared striker in the Championship. John, you've held the

:12:23. > :12:26.microphone before, didn't you? I thought you were going to croon one

:12:27. > :12:28.for us, then! Last season, the former Fleetwood man scored only

:12:29. > :12:31.four goals, but this season, he bagged 15 and he's frightenhng

:12:32. > :12:38.defenders, and as Natalie found out, there's a lot more to Vardy than

:12:39. > :12:41.meets the eye. Here's Jamie Vardy! Leicester's Jamie Vardy is `rguably

:12:42. > :12:44.the best striker in the football league at the moment. In two years,

:12:45. > :12:51.he's gone from non`league to the cusp of the Premier League. And it

:12:52. > :12:56.was a cool finish from Jamid Vardy. Written off only last season... It's

:12:57. > :13:02.been up and down for you. Lhke an ECG test. I'm fascinated by Jamie

:13:03. > :13:09.Vardy's story. At 16, released by Sheffield Wednesday. Tormented by

:13:10. > :13:15.rejection. Got in trouble whth the law. Only last season, he vdry

:13:16. > :13:20.nearly gave up again. A glorious chance for Vardy. Jamie is now 7,

:13:21. > :13:25.but has experienced a surprhsing journey in football. He just left

:13:26. > :13:31.school when Wednesday told him he wasn't good enough. The reason I got

:13:32. > :13:37.released was because I was too small. You could tell that to Lionel

:13:38. > :13:40.Messi now and he would just laugh at you. But, yeah, I wasn't phxsically

:13:41. > :13:46.built enough, which it does hit you hard, and I was very angry. Upset.

:13:47. > :13:49.That's why I stopped playing for a year. Luckily, I went to college and

:13:50. > :13:53.one of my mates just played Sunday football, and asked me to go along

:13:54. > :13:59.with them. So, I did. And that is where the path starts back hnto

:14:00. > :14:02.football. It all happened at tiny South Yorkshire club Stocksbridge

:14:03. > :14:06.Park Steels. In the early d`ys, he was under curfew, and had to wear an

:14:07. > :14:12.electronic tag on his ankle, after being charged with assault. He says

:14:13. > :14:18.it was on a night out and hd was defending a friend with a hdaring

:14:19. > :14:22.aid who was being picked on. I mean, I did get into a little bit of

:14:23. > :14:26.trouble back then. But it w`s all part of the learning curve `nd I

:14:27. > :14:31.sorted myself out. And I cotldn t play, really, any night matches mid

:14:32. > :14:34.week, so it was just Saturd`ys only. If we had an away game, it was

:14:35. > :14:38.literally play an hour, get subbed off and jumped in the car to make

:14:39. > :14:41.sure I got home. I'm obviously not proud of what happened, but, it

:14:42. > :14:44.happened, so, I think things happen for a reason. And I've turndd my

:14:45. > :14:48.life around now, and I'm happy the way I am. He was eventually spotted

:14:49. > :14:53.by Halifax, and Leicester bought him from Fleetwood Town at the beginning

:14:54. > :14:58.of last season for ?1 million. A record signing for a player from the

:14:59. > :15:03.lower leagues. He scored on his debut, but there was no fairy tale

:15:04. > :15:10.first season. It's his first league goal for Leicester City. I let a lot

:15:11. > :15:14.of things get to me last ye`r. Put me down a bit. I came into `

:15:15. > :15:16.dressing room with a lot of big names, which I wasn't used to

:15:17. > :15:22.whatsoever. Many fans weren't convinced. He only netted four

:15:23. > :15:25.league goals all campaign. Jamie Vardy took it and he's rolldd it

:15:26. > :15:29.wide. When were the worst thmes for you? Well, last year, when H wasn't

:15:30. > :15:33.going to my best ability, and obviously, you get a lot of stick on

:15:34. > :15:38.social media. It was hard to blank out. You do let it get to you. It

:15:39. > :15:42.put me on a real downer. Did you ever think about giving up last

:15:43. > :15:45.season? Yes, I did, to be honest. I had a few chats with the gaffer and

:15:46. > :15:48.the assistant coach. But thdy constantly told me that I w`s good

:15:49. > :15:53.enough. They believed in me and they stuck by me. And like I said, I just

:15:54. > :15:58.had to show the faith they put in the on the pitch. And what `

:15:59. > :16:01.turnaround. He's now a fan favourite. He's banged in 14 goals,

:16:02. > :16:06.nearly one every other game and has been a standout player in this table

:16:07. > :16:10.topping team. I think I am the joker of the changing rooms now, because a

:16:11. > :16:12.lot of the lads will say. What do you think you can achieve this

:16:13. > :16:17.season? Obviously promotion is looking within your grasp ndarly

:16:18. > :16:21.now. Yes, we have just got to keep our feet on the ground now `s we

:16:22. > :16:25.have been. Just taking each game as it comes. But we know it is all into

:16:26. > :16:28.its own hands and if we carry on playing how we are, then we will be

:16:29. > :16:32.in the Premier League next season. What would it mean to you to get to

:16:33. > :16:36.the Premier League? It would literally be a dream come true.

:16:37. > :16:39.Obviously, with the way I h`ve gone back into football, I never would

:16:40. > :16:40.have thought it would have happened, so, I would be absolutely over the

:16:41. > :16:53.moon. Brilliant, insightful interview

:16:54. > :16:56.there from Jamie Vardy. Stan, as a former striker yourself, wh`t have

:16:57. > :16:59.you got to say about his mental resolve to come back from an early

:17:00. > :17:03.rejection at Sheffield Wedndsday, a brush with the law and then to not

:17:04. > :17:06.have a great first season at Leicester and to bounce back in such

:17:07. > :17:08.style? Yeah, confidence and belief are everything to a sportsm`n, and A

:17:09. > :17:11.professional sportsman, and professional footballers in

:17:12. > :17:14.particular. I can only think really of two positions on a pitch where

:17:15. > :17:17.the emotions meander as much. One is the goalkeeper. A similar shtuation

:17:18. > :17:20.with Joe Hart. The ups and downs. Another is the striker. You have to

:17:21. > :17:24.go home having scored bucketfuls of goals and then you go through a

:17:25. > :17:27.barren spell and you think, am I ever going to score again? So, it is

:17:28. > :17:31.vitally important to have absolute self belief in what you're trying to

:17:32. > :17:34.do. On the back of a poor sdason last season, for Leicester City

:17:35. > :17:37.he's bounced back. I think he is undoubtedly matured as a person

:17:38. > :17:40.He's added a real clinical ddge as well. He has. And he's been

:17:41. > :17:43.supported, of course, by David Nugent and scored goals as well as

:17:44. > :17:45.taking some of the pressure off them. Gary, from a manager's

:17:46. > :17:48.perspective, huge credit to Nigel Pearson, I suppose, because he is

:17:49. > :17:53.not afraid of dropping big loney signings, but he's stuck by Jamie

:17:54. > :17:56.Vardy. Absolutely. I think he showed amazing faith in him in the first

:17:57. > :17:59.place. I think you've got to remember, this was a player who had

:18:00. > :18:03.only proven himself in the conference. So to pay that sort of

:18:04. > :18:05.money and to put him into a championship side, it didn't go

:18:06. > :18:09.quite to plan last season for him. So, to do that this year, I think

:18:10. > :18:12.what he's done is he's fittdd really well into Nigel Pearson's w`y of

:18:13. > :18:17.wanting to play less stars, more mobility on the team, and it allows

:18:18. > :18:20.him to perhaps counterattack. It allows him to press. And certainly,

:18:21. > :18:24.I think, with Jamie Vardy, xou've got to take your hat off to him and

:18:25. > :18:27.say, he's shown amazing deshre and willingness to want to be a top

:18:28. > :18:33.player, and I think sometimds, that goes an awful long way. Yes, and the

:18:34. > :18:36.work ethic he's got from thd non`league has often won hilself in

:18:37. > :18:40.the heart of the fans. Still to come tonight, it isn't only Roy Hodgson

:18:41. > :18:45.who was hoping to lead Engl`nd to glory overseas this summer.

:18:46. > :18:51.Now, the question for Birmingham City fans tonight is, can you relax

:18:52. > :18:52.if you're a fan of the Blues? Not on the evidence of a 4`1 hammering at

:18:53. > :19:04.Sheffield Wednesday. Fellows, this was a big restlt,

:19:05. > :19:08.really, against the Blues, because as Lee Clark has mentioned straight

:19:09. > :19:14.out of the game, they are in serious danger. Well, they are. Just look at

:19:15. > :19:17.the table. 37 points. Charlton have got games in hand below thel.

:19:18. > :19:20.the table. 37 points. Charlton have got games in hand And I think that

:19:21. > :19:23.Lee Clark has bemoaned parthcularly the home form all season. So, for

:19:24. > :19:26.me, it's quite simple. With ten games to go, they need two or three

:19:27. > :19:29.confidence boosting results, particularly at home. Put your

:19:30. > :19:32.resources in that and then xou can go on the back of that like Bolton

:19:33. > :19:36.did several weeks ago. Thred wins on the bounce, all of a sudden, things

:19:37. > :19:39.start to change. Let's hear from a Bluenose. Daniel, Lee Clark said a

:19:40. > :19:42.few things about the home f`ns and the fear factor for the plaxers

:19:43. > :19:46.should there be more patience from the home fans? I don't think that is

:19:47. > :19:49.an issue any more. We've bedn patient all season. The homd front,

:19:50. > :19:52.it hasn't improved, it's bedn six months now without a home whn. And

:19:53. > :19:55.they keep saying, be patient. I understand it's not easy for the

:19:56. > :19:59.manager or the players with all of the things going on off`field. But,

:20:00. > :20:02.how long can it go on for? We've only got ten games left, like you

:20:03. > :20:05.said. And it has to change `t some stage, otherwise we'll be in danger

:20:06. > :20:08.of going down. Yes, great stuff Thank you, Daniel. Well, last week

:20:09. > :20:11.on Late Kick`off, we heard from several very disgruntled Coventry

:20:12. > :20:14.City supporters and these f`ns continue to vote with their feet.

:20:15. > :20:18.Fewer than 2,000 travelled to Northampton to watch the Skx Blues

:20:19. > :20:20.latest home game against Port Vale. But those who did were treated to an

:20:21. > :20:31.absolutely dramatic finish. Straightaway! He's in here! After

:20:32. > :20:36.the first 30 seconds! He finishes! Vale take the lead after just 3

:20:37. > :20:40.seconds! Back to Dickinson. A good cross into the back post! It is in!

:20:41. > :20:44.Ben Williams has slotted it in! Over the top towards the six yard area!

:20:45. > :20:46.Coventry City have got one back He's still got the ball! In the

:20:47. > :21:00.penalty area! What a goal! Amazing comeback from Coventry. It

:21:01. > :21:04.almost epitomises the spirit that has been instilled by Steven

:21:05. > :21:08.Pressley. Yes, it's been an awful season on and off the pitch for many

:21:09. > :21:11.reasons, from the deduction to the ongoing situation with Northampton.

:21:12. > :21:15.But that feeling in the dressing room when the players go in, Steven

:21:16. > :21:18.Pressley likes a win, they `re only three points off the relegation The

:21:19. > :21:21.way that the game has startdd and the way that it finished, it just

:21:22. > :21:30.goes to epitomise how difficult it is being a football manager. I think

:21:31. > :21:33.the other thing again with Coventry that you look at, we spoke `bout

:21:34. > :21:37.Birmingham's home form being poor, if you look at Coventry, how would

:21:38. > :21:40.you manage that as a leader of a team when you know you've got

:21:41. > :21:44.literally 46 away games or whatever it turns out to be. It's a crazy

:21:45. > :21:47.season for them, and the loss of two strikers, one through injurx and one

:21:48. > :21:51.through transfer. And Clark and Willis. Clark and Wilson, sorry I

:21:52. > :21:55.think look at the goals thex scored between them, their form re`lly

:21:56. > :21:58.dipped around that time. Now they've got Wilson back, you would hope that

:21:59. > :22:04.maybe it would pick up enough for them to maybe finish with a little

:22:05. > :22:08.bit of a boost. Yeah, 19 go`ls in his first regular season in the

:22:09. > :22:11.football league is a terrifhc return from the 22`year`old. Well, Wolves

:22:12. > :22:15.still sit on top of the pild of that division. That's despite thdir club

:22:16. > :22:19.record run of nine wins in ` row and that came to a halt at home to

:22:20. > :22:24.Shrewsbury. What a great pohnt this is for Mike Jackson's men. Ht's

:22:25. > :22:27.threatening lives at the bottom of the table for the Shrews. And I

:22:28. > :22:31.would imagine that the tale of the game was to get as many bodhes

:22:32. > :22:36.behind the ball in the first 20 25 minutes of the game and then try and

:22:37. > :22:40.eek out a result. And they do that, and now, of course, Michael Jackson,

:22:41. > :22:44.he can say to the players, hf you can do it against them, you can do

:22:45. > :22:46.it in those last ten games of the season. We've got an interesting

:22:47. > :22:49.fellow here, you're half Wolves half Shrewsbury, so, that w`s the

:22:50. > :22:54.ideal outcome for you? I thhnk more Shrewsbury than Wolves! But the

:22:55. > :22:58.point on Saturday was brillhant Not many people expected it. I think it

:22:59. > :23:04.let thousands down on the fhxed odd coupons. And if we play likd that

:23:05. > :23:08.for the rest of the season, I could see us getting out of trouble. They

:23:09. > :23:12.really did play well and thdy deserved the point. OK, thanks very

:23:13. > :23:16.much for that. In January, Walsall looked a decent bet for a place in

:23:17. > :23:19.the play`offs, but they havd now gone nine games without a whn. The

:23:20. > :23:27.Saddlers got off to a decent start at Rotherham. A bit of a last`minute

:23:28. > :23:31.sickener here, just like yotr boys. Yes, it is difficult. You go to a

:23:32. > :23:34.place like Rotherham. I know Rotherham cut last season, but they

:23:35. > :23:38.have got an excellent budget and they've got a really good stadium.

:23:39. > :23:41.But I have to say, Dean Smith has done a terrific job there. They

:23:42. > :23:44.haven't got a lot of money. They played as good footballers `ny team

:23:45. > :23:47.in the division, so to even be competing against those sort of

:23:48. > :23:50.sides is fantastic. They're like the Everton of League One. They don t

:23:51. > :23:54.have the resources. They've got a bit of a glass ceiling to go through

:23:55. > :23:58.and just fall short in thosd last ten or so games. So in Dean Smith, a

:23:59. > :24:01.former team`mate of mine, wd were apprentices together at Walsall

:24:02. > :24:06.They've got the right man in charge. Not for today, not for tomorrow but

:24:07. > :24:10.for the long run. He certainly is. Don't forget, you can join hn on the

:24:11. > :24:14.debate on social media. You can contact us on Twitter. Come on,

:24:15. > :24:17.Swifty! The first one, that's it... Use the hash tag LKOmids. Or you can

:24:18. > :24:22.get in touch with us through Facebook. There you go. There's the

:24:23. > :24:24.details. This is all getting a little bit surreal for my lhking.

:24:25. > :24:27.So, Nottinghamshire County `nd Shrewsbury are struggling. But

:24:28. > :24:30.Gary's Burton Albion could be on the way up to League One. This hs

:24:31. > :24:34.Burton's fifth season as a Football League club and after missing out on

:24:35. > :24:37.the play`offs the year ago, they are intent on making amends this season.

:24:38. > :24:41.Gary, what happened? You held out what should be 95 minutes when they

:24:42. > :24:44.scored in the 97th?! Yes, I think the ref's watch fell off after a

:24:45. > :24:50.couple of minutes into the stoppage time. They put five minutes up, made

:24:51. > :24:54.one substitution, so that would be five minutes 30 and they scored at

:24:55. > :24:58.6.30. And we played on seven and a half minutes of added time, which

:24:59. > :25:02.obviously... Did you have a chat with him afterwards? I had ` little

:25:03. > :25:05.chat. I was very, very polite and calm. But it's people's livdlihoods

:25:06. > :25:08.at stake. The referee had a really, really good game, so I've got to

:25:09. > :25:11.choose my words carefully. But, you know, those two points could be

:25:12. > :25:16.absolutely crucial come the end of the season for a club like ours You

:25:17. > :25:20.don't won't be paying out for that? If Burton do have to settle for the

:25:21. > :25:24.play`offs, they might yet bd drawn by Cheltenham who are making a late

:25:25. > :25:25.run for the top six. Let's have a quick look at their win agahnst

:25:26. > :25:36.Torquay at the weekend. In it comes. Headed away. It's in!

:25:37. > :25:39.Matt Richards from the edge of the penalty area! It took a deflection,

:25:40. > :25:40.I think. Cheltenham, who have been knocking at the door, get the

:25:41. > :25:51.breakthrough. Now, onto Mansfield and the

:25:52. > :25:56.play`offs are probably out of reach with the Stags now, but thex sit

:25:57. > :26:02.comfortably in mid`table. What did you make of their performance at the

:26:03. > :26:05.end of the week, Stan? I thhnk it's going to be one of those se`sons,

:26:06. > :26:08.really, where you just have to consolidate and stay in the

:26:09. > :26:11.division. I think it's the same for the likes of Coventry who are a

:26:12. > :26:14.league ahead. The likes of Port Vale. Consolidate, look to

:26:15. > :26:18.strengthen again come summertime. Now, the playing careers of Stan and

:26:19. > :26:22.Gary finished some time ago but they are both far too young to play for

:26:23. > :26:27.the team that Natalie is with now. Nat. Yes, I am with a great group of

:26:28. > :26:36.guys who play for the over`40s England All`stars. Wow. Andx Munro,

:26:37. > :26:42.you are a sprightly 63 and xou're the captain and the manager? That's

:26:43. > :26:46.right. We play in this World Cup every year and last year we played

:26:47. > :26:52.in Barcelona. You're 50 this year, and you head to Verona. How excited

:26:53. > :26:57.are you? What does it mean to you? Why did you get involved in it all?

:26:58. > :27:00.It's brilliant for everybodx. Last year we played in Barcelona, we

:27:01. > :27:03.played against the actual B`rcelona ex`players. We do the same hn

:27:04. > :27:06.Verona. And it is just all `bout continuing to play for the game that

:27:07. > :27:09.we all love. We're all as enthusiastic as we ever werd. The

:27:10. > :27:15.ex`'83 Barcelona team with Ramos involved, you didn't quite dxpect

:27:16. > :27:21.that? No, no, and we did net against them, so we didn't do too b`d. Andy

:27:22. > :27:28.netted against them. He's a modest guy. But, they call him a freak of

:27:29. > :27:31.nature, Dave, why is that? Well he's held together more by bandage

:27:32. > :27:34.and sticky tape these days. But he can manage himself through dvery

:27:35. > :27:38.game. He refuses to take hilself off, even though we are all asking

:27:39. > :27:41.for him to go off. And just finally, Milan, they say that football's

:27:42. > :27:44.coming home for you guys, do you go home to Horlics and slippers? Not

:27:45. > :27:48.quite yet! Thank you very mtch for coming in. Thanks, guys. Th`nks

:27:49. > :27:51.Nat. Let's finish by looking at the hi`tech league tables. Burton, it's

:27:52. > :27:57.a game in hand over Rochdald, their game in hand is going to be crucial

:27:58. > :28:01.for you? Yes, we play Scunthorpe on Saturday, that'll be a huge game, so

:28:02. > :28:03.all to play for still. Unbe`ten in 21 games, they are. For Wolves,

:28:04. > :28:08.Brentford playing Leyton Orhent it came at the right time. Absolutely.

:28:09. > :28:12.It's a cracking point for Shrewsbury and Wolves go onwards and upwards to

:28:13. > :28:17.do what you would expect thdm to do, go up. Finally, to the Championship,

:28:18. > :28:20.it is all about this mini ldague. Yes, stay in it. QPR are in decent

:28:21. > :28:23.form at the moment. Wigan are perhaps the team in form. Rdading

:28:24. > :28:26.and Brighton chasing. Darby and Nottingham Forest, stay in that mini

:28:27. > :28:29.league. OK. We have to leavd it there. That's it for another

:28:30. > :28:33.programme. My thanks to Stan, good luck to Gary and your Burton Albion

:28:34. > :28:37.for the rest of the season. And our thanks to the Late Kick`off

:28:38. > :28:41.supporters crew tonight. Now, let us know if you would like to bd in the

:28:42. > :28:44.studio. Get in touch with us on Twitter and Facebook. We're back

:28:45. > :28:47.here at the BBC Mailbox at the same time, same place next week, until

:28:48. > :28:51.then, from all of us, good night. APPLAUSE.
