:00:00. > :00:08.Tonight, Kenny Jacket shows why he's a perfect fit the Wolves and Stan
:00:09. > :00:10.Collymore on who he thinks should be the next manager at Forest. Welcome
:00:11. > :00:28.to Late Kick Off. Coming up tonight Leicester edging
:00:29. > :00:31.closer to becoming the first team in any league to clinch promotion after
:00:32. > :00:38.their victory over promotion rivals Burnley. Get the blue and white
:00:39. > :00:42.ribbons on the trophy! It belongs to Leicester City! And the man who has
:00:43. > :00:46.brought a light to the end of the tunnel at Wolves. If we can write
:00:47. > :00:49.our own small piece of history to add to a fantastic tradition at that
:00:50. > :00:57.club, that would be a fantastic achievement.
:00:58. > :01:02.We'll be hearing from the Late Kick Off Supporters' Crew as we have our
:01:03. > :01:06.Question Time for fans. If you want to be in our audience, email or
:01:07. > :01:08.tweet us and we'll reserve you a place. With us tonight, perhaps the
:01:09. > :01:11.finest goalkeeping`coach this country has produced. His number 1s
:01:12. > :01:19.include Peter Schmeichel, Kasper Schmeichel and current England
:01:20. > :01:26.keeper, Joe Hart. And he's also helping mastermind the resurgent
:01:27. > :01:29.Rams at Derby County. Eric Steele. And Cannock's finest, the man who
:01:30. > :01:37.knows Midlands footie better than most, Stan Collymore. You can't miss
:01:38. > :01:41.them, but every week we have a mascot in the studio. So today,
:01:42. > :01:53.please welcome Sammy the Stag from Mansfield! Tonight we're on a stag
:01:54. > :01:56.do of sorts. But we start with the Midlands team whose performances
:01:57. > :01:59.this season are a cut above the rest in the Championship, Leicester City.
:02:00. > :02:04.But in League One, Wolverhampton Wanderers are sitting pretty at the
:02:05. > :02:07.top after two horrendous seasons. Leading the pack at Wolves is Kenny
:02:08. > :02:13.Jacket who invited the Late Kick Off cameras into the training ground
:02:14. > :02:16.ahead of his side's game at MK Dons. One minute you're in the Premier
:02:17. > :02:22.League, the Championshio, and the next, League One. Being a Wolves fan
:02:23. > :02:26.hasn't been easy. We have a couple of dark seasons here at Wolves. But
:02:27. > :02:31.there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And a motto you can't miss
:02:32. > :02:40.for a club that can make the day, the week or even the year for its
:02:41. > :02:43.fans. It is a one club town. You only see Wolverhampton shirts around
:02:44. > :02:47.and that's fantastic. The potential and the tradition of the club is a
:02:48. > :02:53.big one. A very recent Premier League history. Mick McCarthy took
:02:54. > :02:56.them into the Premier League and kept them there for three years
:02:57. > :03:00.which is a terrific achievement. We know it's there and that's a big
:03:01. > :03:03.attraction for me. The potential is there. With that comes a high
:03:04. > :03:06.expectation, you know that but you can't have it all ways. I'm happy to
:03:07. > :03:11.accept the responsibility and there is terrific potential, it is not
:03:12. > :03:16.something that frightens me. A fantastic club, first`class
:03:17. > :03:19.facilities. Down on its knees after successive relegations, I think
:03:20. > :03:22.coming out of the Premier League was a blow but nobody expected them to
:03:23. > :03:27.then fall straight through to League One. It has been a tough period for
:03:28. > :03:36.the supporters of the club in particular to see that happen over
:03:37. > :03:38.the two years. I felt I needed to change things around, the connection
:03:39. > :03:45.between the supporters and the players wasn't there. It was the
:03:46. > :03:50.first thing that we did set about trying to change. And with average
:03:51. > :03:54.crowds around 20,000, Kenny and his men knew exactly what they had to do
:03:55. > :03:59.to keep the fans happy. Get out of League One. It's been our aim from
:04:00. > :04:02.day one to get promoted. And I'm sure that they'll be, two thirds of
:04:03. > :04:05.the division, when you come back from preseason, with the play`offs,
:04:06. > :04:09.would say, we want to try and get promotion and get one of those three
:04:10. > :04:11.places. We've been no different, from day one our aim has been to get
:04:12. > :04:21.back into the Championship. Jacket was the fourth manager
:04:22. > :04:24.appointed by Wolves in three years. With a risky import from Norway and
:04:25. > :04:28.another from a lower division club having backfired, it was time to
:04:29. > :04:31.turn to a man who knew a route map for success. Jacket had begun the
:04:32. > :04:39.Swansea revolution and done sterling work at Millwall. He was the best
:04:40. > :04:43.signing at Molineux. It was a Division 1 knew well, I knew if you
:04:44. > :04:46.did not get your fitness and attitude right, names on the team
:04:47. > :04:49.sheet and a Premier League history wouldn't be enough. We needed a
:04:50. > :04:52.fresh group of players, that didn't carry that baggage of the double
:04:53. > :04:56.relegation. As for tricks of the trade, Kenny Jacket doesn't exactly
:04:57. > :05:00.try and blind you with science. It is hard work and doing what the fans
:05:01. > :05:06.want you to do, keep the ball. He calls it creating a Wolves ethos. A
:05:07. > :05:10.lot of people turn up at Wolves for the games both home and away and it
:05:11. > :05:13.is our responsibility to put on a performance that gets our supporters
:05:14. > :05:15.going. If we do take that responsibility and put good
:05:16. > :05:24.performances on, it has to be player led. Then we know that we have a
:05:25. > :05:28.fantastic club and a great crowd to back us. As long as we respect those
:05:29. > :05:34.things, identify them and make sure we work hard at those basics. Some
:05:35. > :05:37.of the club's top earners, dating back to the Premier League days of
:05:38. > :05:40.three years ago, have gone. Whilst others like Jamie O'Hara have
:05:41. > :05:46.learned to fall in with the Jacket style and philosophy or stay on the
:05:47. > :05:50.sidelines. And it's worth it. He's a boss who is clearly getting results.
:05:51. > :05:54.He is a man manager, he's very calm, he never loses his rag. He knows
:05:55. > :06:01.what he wants, experienced now, he's a good manager to play for. Wolves
:06:02. > :06:04.probably couldn't believe their luck that they managed to get someone of
:06:05. > :06:12.Kenny's experience of the lower leagues, but also the ability to
:06:13. > :06:15.perform in the Championship as well. You can't beat that winning feeling.
:06:16. > :06:18.Obviously we're in the division lower, hopefully going up this time.
:06:19. > :06:22.But like I say, winning is winning and we are certainly hoping to do
:06:23. > :06:26.that again this season and that is definitely the aim. If he told me to
:06:27. > :06:30.jump off this roof, I'd jump off this roof. I've got that much belief
:06:31. > :06:37.in him and I trust him and what he says goes. So, the darkness behind
:06:38. > :06:46.them, it's time for a brighter future for the Wolves. If we can
:06:47. > :06:49.just write our own small piece of history to add to a fantastic
:06:50. > :07:02.tradition that is at the club, that would be a fantastic achievement.
:07:03. > :07:06.Eric, great to have you on the programme tonight. You started your
:07:07. > :07:10.coaching career interestingly enough at Wolves, but you were with Kenny
:07:11. > :07:17.at Watford and Manchester City. What is it about him that's got the best
:07:18. > :07:21.out of what he's got at Wolves? He's a good coach, first and foremost, so
:07:22. > :07:24.his work on the training ground Monday to Friday, that is so vital.
:07:25. > :07:27.He puts aside the other duties because he knows where his
:07:28. > :07:31.priorities are going to be. I thought what he did was perfect, he
:07:32. > :07:34.moved the old brigade out, he knew he had to get youth, vitality into
:07:35. > :07:41.that team to regenerate what is a fantastic club. He knows how to win,
:07:42. > :07:44.he knows to get out of that division and no one would be more delighted
:07:45. > :07:48.for the Wolves fans behind me here and Kenny if they get those wins
:07:49. > :07:51.required. It would keep this man next to me happy. This was the
:07:52. > :07:56.all`important goal that won it at MK Dons in front of 9000 away fans,
:07:57. > :07:59.another Cannock boy. It is, delightful, we've got a rich history
:08:00. > :08:04.of producing players, my little town. Here's the next one in Liam
:08:05. > :08:08.McAlinden. I know his dad Jimmy very well, he will be very proud of him,
:08:09. > :08:11.to score in front of 9000 Wolves fans. He's been brought through the
:08:12. > :08:14.youth system which has got a good track record in history of producing
:08:15. > :08:20.youth players but not giving them ahead in the youth team. From the
:08:21. > :08:24.youth team into the first team. But Kenny Jacket will now and long may
:08:25. > :08:26.it continue. Let's hear from two Wolves fans, Terry, you've been
:08:27. > :08:30.there for 40 years almost, maybe even more. How happy are you with
:08:31. > :08:39.what Kenny has done? Great team spirit, got the fans behind him.
:08:40. > :08:43.Absolutely brilliant. We're in a good position to go up. David, three
:08:44. > :08:46.wins away now. Yeah, so far, so good. It will be interesting to see
:08:47. > :08:50.how the king of League One does next season for us. I think promotion is
:08:51. > :08:53.on the cards now, it will be interesting into next season, so far
:08:54. > :08:59.so good. Very happy. Thanks for now. So to the match of the weekend.
:09:00. > :09:03.Potentially the Chamionship decider at Turf Moor. He has got one
:09:04. > :09:07.defender to beat, has to curtail his run, he didn't get a good touch,
:09:08. > :09:10.Nugent takes it on, left footed into the back of the net! David Nugent
:09:11. > :09:13.loves a goal against Burnley, and he gets another. The Foxes are back
:09:14. > :09:24.into their stride in the Championship! Burnley nil, Leicester
:09:25. > :09:27.one. He launches it long, looks for Chris Wood, he has won this, he has
:09:28. > :09:31.got two defenders. There it is, Chris Wood! It's a
:09:32. > :09:35.beauty, they're on their feet in the dugout, they're on the feet on our
:09:36. > :09:40.right hand side! Get the blue and white ribbons on the trophy, it
:09:41. > :09:47.belongs to Leicester City. Burnley nil, Leicester two.
:09:48. > :09:52.Ian Stringer of Radio Leicester getting a bit excited, and why not,
:09:53. > :09:55.six points clear at the summit. Seven points more needed and they're
:09:56. > :10:00.back in the Premier League. Is the title on its way as a result of that
:10:01. > :10:04.one win? Virtually, you mentioned the stats above Burnley, but 15
:10:05. > :10:07.points above QPR. If you had asked Nigel Pearson about that at the
:10:08. > :10:10.start of the season, he would have said you were crazy. They have
:10:11. > :10:13.addressed the consistency issues. We just saw in that games a snapshot of
:10:14. > :10:17.the difference between Leicester and Burnley. No Ings for Burnley, Sam
:10:18. > :10:21.Vokes went off injured, Leicester have the luxury of being able to
:10:22. > :10:25.bring on Chris Wood and score a cracker. I think that they will be
:10:26. > :10:30.Championship winners and going to the Premier League, looking forward
:10:31. > :10:35.to Old Trafford, Emirates. Don't get carried away! We're still chasing
:10:36. > :10:39.you! As far as you're concerned, you're still within a shout with the
:10:40. > :10:43.top ten? No, we would be delighted to finish where we are now.
:10:44. > :10:47.Leicester deserve to be where they are. That league table doesn't lie
:10:48. > :10:50.and credit to Nigel Pearson. Stan has made a good point, they've got
:10:51. > :10:53.four strikers to call upon. The depth they've had, he's learned a
:10:54. > :10:56.lot from last year, the campaign they had. He's kept the people
:10:57. > :11:00.together and he has built it around a great goalkeeper and back four.
:11:01. > :11:03.And those two midfield players, Drinkwater and James, they don't
:11:04. > :11:06.miss games. Their team in terms of saying who's in there week in week
:11:07. > :11:10.out, they've had the same eight, nine players. That consistency over
:11:11. > :11:14.46 games is fantastic, they deserve to be where they are. Lack of
:11:15. > :11:17.injuries has been key for them. This season, only a handful of
:11:18. > :11:25.Premiership and Championship games have been postponed due to bad
:11:26. > :11:28.weather. But in parts of the Midlands, nearly 60% of clubs
:11:29. > :11:30.playing at grassroots level have seen their games called off because
:11:31. > :11:34.of buckling pitches. We've been taking a look at a game of two
:11:35. > :11:36.halves. The rich at the top, the poor at the bottom.
:11:37. > :11:39.Unbelievably, football is no longer the top participant sport in this
:11:40. > :11:44.country. More people nowadays prefer to run, swim or cycle. Player
:11:45. > :11:49.numbers are in decline and in many places, facilities are shocking.
:11:50. > :11:51.Junior football still has the ongoing issue of over`aggressive
:11:52. > :11:57.parents and many still question the way we coach our kids. Make no
:11:58. > :12:03.mistake, the grassroots game is in big trouble. Enjoy that game, boys?
:12:04. > :12:07.Good, played well. Kenny Saunders is the manager of Walton FC which has
:12:08. > :12:11.62 junior teams. He's launched a campaign to save grassroots
:12:12. > :12:15.football. Grassroots football is in massive danger of folding within the
:12:16. > :12:20.next five to ten years. There's massive problems out there. Right
:12:21. > :12:22.from funding to grassroots coaching to parents, respect campaigns,
:12:23. > :12:28.there's many issues out there at the moment. Although Woolton have
:12:29. > :12:33.addressed the issue of pushy parents on the touchline, not everyone else
:12:34. > :12:39.has. That's a yellow card, ref, card him, yellow card him, ref! He's an
:12:40. > :12:45.animal, give him a yellow card. You're an animal, he deserves a
:12:46. > :12:48.yellow card. Constantly shouting instruction is counter`protective.
:12:49. > :12:51.We do want that noise and support, that's why young people want to be
:12:52. > :12:54.there. A parent wouldn't shout at their child during a piano lesson,
:12:55. > :13:01.white key, black key, so we're trying to work out a right level of
:13:02. > :13:04.support for those young people. There's also an issue about the
:13:05. > :13:07.standard of coaching but the FA insist that's all changing. What
:13:08. > :13:10.we're doing now is providing the right level of coaching for the
:13:11. > :13:13.right coach in the right environment to make sure the coaching they
:13:14. > :13:18.receive is the right thing for that young player's development. Coaching
:13:19. > :13:23.badges, it's extreme, the money they're charging for grassroots
:13:24. > :13:26.volunteers. We're being priced out. We need to have better coaches, we
:13:27. > :13:31.need more coaches, more qualified coaches. It's a ten`year journey and
:13:32. > :13:34.I believe we're well on the way to delivering a world`class coaching
:13:35. > :13:38.system and I feel within ten years we'll be seeing the fruits of that
:13:39. > :13:41.labour. While the culture of the grassroots game could be changing,
:13:42. > :13:44.there is still one huge cloud on the horizon, funding. With council
:13:45. > :13:46.cutbacks and even Sport England cutting its financial support,
:13:47. > :13:51.amateur clubs need to know who's going to help them survive. We've
:13:52. > :13:54.got to get the Premier League, the football league, we've got to get
:13:55. > :13:56.governments, councils, everyone who is responsible for grassroots
:13:57. > :14:03.football and can improve grassroots football. We need them round the
:14:04. > :14:05.table and we need them now. The numbers playing in grassroots
:14:06. > :14:08.football and the funding both down. Almost epitomised by your story,
:14:09. > :14:12.Stan, where you started kicking a ball about is now a supermarket.
:14:13. > :14:15.Yeah, the three main places that I played football in Cannock, one's
:14:16. > :14:18.now a supermarket, and the other two, one's a school field, two
:14:19. > :14:22.thirds of that field, there's still a pitch on there but there's seven
:14:23. > :14:27.or eight or nine pitches that are now houses. I went down to speak to
:14:28. > :14:30.Greg Dyke, I was invited down by the Football Association to offer ideas.
:14:31. > :14:33.I think there should be cheaper coaching badges. A levy on the
:14:34. > :14:37.Premier league, football league to be able to cipher off some of the
:14:38. > :14:39.extraordinary wealth that goes down to grassroots, but fundamentally
:14:40. > :14:43.it's not good enough. It's a shambles at the moment.
:14:44. > :14:48.A levy on the Premier League and the Football League, to be able to
:14:49. > :14:50.siphon off some of the extreme wealth, so it goes down to the
:14:51. > :14:52.grassroots. Fundamentally, it is not good
:14:53. > :15:02.enough. It is a shambles. I know the Football Foundation Stan
:15:03. > :15:05.has hit on a few of the problems there. I am from Wallsend Boys Club,
:15:06. > :15:08.where the Beardsleys, the Carricks, the Shearers came from. We begged,
:15:09. > :15:11.stole and borrowed. It has got to be very quickly reversed and you have
:15:12. > :15:14.to get people like the Premier League, the FA, your major sponsors,
:15:15. > :15:18.instead of putting money into players, divert it to the grass
:15:19. > :15:20.roots. If we don't do it and reverse it... We wonder why there is no
:15:21. > :15:23.English players coming through. Where do they practise?
:15:24. > :15:26.Let us get a different point of view. Stef Knight is here, the
:15:27. > :15:29.general Secretary of Birmingham's Festival League. When you started I
:15:30. > :15:32.do not think you were a football fan, but it is a league which has
:15:33. > :15:36.brought through the likes of Zat Knight and Paul Devlin, but you find
:15:37. > :15:38.yourself very much at the sharp end, with regard to rising costs and poor
:15:39. > :15:41.facilities? Yes, we have. I run four teams, but
:15:42. > :15:45.the Festival League teams are also struggling with rising costs. 30%
:15:46. > :15:49.for next season, possibly 50%. We cannot get the money in. Where are
:15:50. > :15:52.we going to get the money to raise money to pay for the pitches? It is
:15:53. > :15:55.ridiculous. I know Birmingham city Council
:15:56. > :15:59.subsidise the pitches cost, but it is still a prohibitive cost for
:16:00. > :16:06.teams such as yourself. Richard, you are at Yardley Warriors. Sorry,
:16:07. > :16:09.Dynamos. You have had to go private. Because the council`run pitches are
:16:10. > :16:12.not good enough for you? Yes, that is right. The vast
:16:13. > :16:15.majority of my squad travel about ten miles across Birmingham to play
:16:16. > :16:20.at the Pavilion at Moor Lane, just because it is an independently run,
:16:21. > :16:24.private facility. They look after the pitches a bit better, so it is
:16:25. > :16:29.very rare that we get a game called off due to a waterlogged pitch or
:16:30. > :16:32.even a frozen pitch. There are nice changing and shower facilities there
:16:33. > :16:36.and these are few and far between in Sunday morning and amateur football.
:16:37. > :16:41.Keith, your teams play in Staffordshire. You have had to go
:16:42. > :16:44.off on your own and raise funds of your own back. It is more of
:16:45. > :16:49.pro`active approach? Yes, it is. We realised a while ago
:16:50. > :16:53.that we needed a home for our teams. There are 43 teams, so it would be
:16:54. > :16:59.difficult to find one base to cater for everyone. But we have got 13
:17:00. > :17:01.teams play at our own base. It cost is ?1.3 million. The Football
:17:02. > :17:05.Foundation funded ?920,000 of that and the balance, we have to find
:17:06. > :17:07.that ourselves over the course of ten years.
:17:08. > :17:10.That is a great effort. And thank you very much for coming in, guys.
:17:11. > :17:13.Back to the professional game and the McLaren machine at Derby County
:17:14. > :17:17.is positively purring. 3`0 they won against Charlton.
:17:18. > :17:21.Hendrick controls and turns. Bamford get in, gives it to Russell, he
:17:22. > :17:24.takes a touch. Russell, left`footed, shoots and scores! Johnny Russell
:17:25. > :17:29.took his time in the penalty area. We have played 18 minutes ` Derby
:17:30. > :17:35.one, Charlton zero. Left`footed chip to the back post.
:17:36. > :17:39.In goes Bamford, ball is dropping. Bamford has a chance to put it in
:17:40. > :17:42.and has. Shocking defending from Charlton. A gift, if ever there was
:17:43. > :17:47.one,. Six minutes to half time and Derby go 2`0 up.
:17:48. > :17:51.An outswinger for Bryson to take. A flat one to the near post. Martin!
:17:52. > :17:54.It's gone in! Chris Martin with the header at the near post and he
:17:55. > :18:01.deserves that. His first goal for a couple of weeks. With six minutes to
:18:02. > :18:10.play, it is game over. Derby County three, Charlton Athletic zero.
:18:11. > :18:20.The perfect reaction after the late Ipswich defeat in midweek? Yes, we
:18:21. > :18:24.knew it would be difficult, with the game is chairing the course of the
:18:25. > :18:35.week. There are no easy games in this league. On the back of the
:18:36. > :18:41.great win against our local rivals. Steve stresses every re`, it is
:18:42. > :18:48.about the 17 and 18 players in the squad. It puts is a great position.
:18:49. > :18:52.Next to a very worrying slide from Birmingham
:18:53. > :18:57.things are looking good off the pitch as well. I know you have
:18:58. > :19:06.announced losses, but there has been a lot of sheer issues of the pitch.
:19:07. > :19:17.What has been the secret? You have all hit the ground running. I think
:19:18. > :19:23.you have mentioned is one of the key factors that when Steve was
:19:24. > :19:27.appointed, the other people heat brought with him knew exactly what
:19:28. > :19:33.the club was about. Often, when a new manager is, they media do not
:19:34. > :19:36.know very much about the club. I watched the club many times last
:19:37. > :19:45.season. We had the feel for the club. We had to to work. Steve has
:19:46. > :19:52.been left with the coaching and everything else has been left to the
:19:53. > :19:57.other people. We had a great run through November of which catapulted
:19:58. > :20:00.us up through the leak. The work that has been done during the week,
:20:01. > :20:05.there is a great belief in the players and it is a collective job
:20:06. > :20:17.between the work of the players and the management. They come to a very
:20:18. > :20:20.worrying slide for Birmingham. They have got the worst home record in
:20:21. > :20:24.Europe. They were four down when they began a fightback.
:20:25. > :20:32.It is now no wins in 15 at St Andrews. It is worrying, Stan? Yes,
:20:33. > :20:37.there has also been demonstrations about the Carson Yeung situation and
:20:38. > :20:42.you can see all the empty seats. You get into the play`offs by being
:20:43. > :20:50.strong home and making the odd victory away from home. But it is a
:20:51. > :20:54.bit strange, Macheda came on and scored and you wonder why he has not
:20:55. > :20:59.been starting games. But it will just take one victory and that could
:21:00. > :21:09.change everything. Five points off the relegation zone. It is run on
:21:10. > :21:18.teams. We need to pick up points. We simply have to get this victory at
:21:19. > :21:26.home. As Stan said, why Macheda did not start. I have no idea, you would
:21:27. > :21:34.have to ask the manager. What did you think at the start of the
:21:35. > :21:37.season. I did not have a lot of expectation, I would have been
:21:38. > :21:39.pretty happy if we had just stayed up.
:21:40. > :21:42.No doubt who made all the headlines last week ` and for the wrong
:21:43. > :21:45.reasons. Nottingham Forest sacked their manager and then lost at home
:21:46. > :21:47.to Charlton, but a battling game at Portman Road produced a point
:21:48. > :21:49.apiece. Encouraging signs?
:21:50. > :21:57.Yes, my understanding is they are going to go back to Stuart Pearce. I
:21:58. > :22:04.am worried from the ownership perspective. There are all sorts of
:22:05. > :22:07.rumours flying about. There are these stories about players and
:22:08. > :22:16.tactics being inflicted on the management. I think they should go
:22:17. > :22:23.back to Stuart Pearce this time, a man imbued in Nottingham Forest.
:22:24. > :22:27.They need to say, the is the money to spend in the summer and move
:22:28. > :22:32.everything forward. But I am not a fan of or not getting involved with
:22:33. > :22:41.playing matters. If that is the case, it needs to stop right now.
:22:42. > :22:49.But they cannot bring some of them just for a handful of games. As Stan
:22:50. > :22:53.said, if Stuart Pearce takes the job, he will know what it is all
:22:54. > :22:58.about. It is a fantastic football club. There are three clubs just
:22:59. > :23:05.below them who are going to be scrapping for that final play`off
:23:06. > :23:11.place. But the one good thing is that we saw that the use players
:23:12. > :23:22.were given a chance? Yes, we saw a few of them getting played. That is
:23:23. > :23:27.the one good thing. But a massive injection of confidence is needed at
:23:28. > :23:33.Nottingham Forest. Something like that could see them propelling
:23:34. > :23:35.themselves into the play`offs. Into League One and it is looking
:23:36. > :23:41.very promising, all of They are just two points off the
:23:42. > :23:43.play`off places after their weekend win.
:23:44. > :23:48.Ball in from low to Sawyer, steers it back to Westcarr. Westcarr turns
:23:49. > :23:50.and scores himself in the corner! Westcarr's shot seemed to take the
:23:51. > :23:53.Shrewsbury goalkeeper by surprise and it snuck in low to his right and
:23:54. > :24:10.it is Walsall one, Shrewsbury zero. A gentle afternoon. Yes, I still
:24:11. > :24:15.think we will make the play`offs, but it is going to be a hard job
:24:16. > :24:22.because a few teams around us have games in hand. It B have the edge.
:24:23. > :24:30.But we have had a good season, because we were favourites for
:24:31. > :24:35.relegation. I think we need an out and out striker. Your top
:24:36. > :24:47.goal`scorer from last season is coming back to haunt you. We have
:24:48. > :24:54.got a couple, it would be great if we could get him for another season.
:24:55. > :24:59.Girls have a problem for shoes Shrewsbury. They have been for the
:25:00. > :25:04.past couple of seasons. But wilfully, we can pool off the great
:25:05. > :25:11.escape. I think it will come down to the last game of the season against
:25:12. > :25:14.Chillingham. If we could get one or two wins, look great it would take
:25:15. > :25:17.us. Notts County's 2`0 win at the
:25:18. > :25:20.weekend means they are out of the bottom four. A few weeks ago, they
:25:21. > :25:27.were rock`bottom. What a turn around under Shaun Derry? As I said,
:25:28. > :25:36.momentum is everything. Three wins on the bounce. The previous nine
:25:37. > :25:39.games they had not got that. Shaun Derry has given the players
:25:40. > :25:48.confidence to go out and express themselves. But look at the teams
:25:49. > :25:51.below them. Still plenty of work left to do.
:25:52. > :25:54.Coventry's win away, by the way, sees them clear of relegation
:25:55. > :25:57.worries and actually, without the ten`point ban, they would be in the
:25:58. > :26:04.play`off places. That Calum Wilson winner makes him the league's top
:26:05. > :26:11.scorer. 21 league goals. Yes, I think everybody involved at
:26:12. > :26:16.Coventry, it has been a traumatic season. Having to play at
:26:17. > :26:21.Northampton. Consolidation was what this season was all about. They will
:26:22. > :26:27.hope the off field structure is put into place to get them back to
:26:28. > :26:30.Coventry as soon as possible. Playing every game away from home,
:26:31. > :26:35.it has been remarkable how well they have done. All credit to the players
:26:36. > :26:38.and management. In League Two, Burton's point at
:26:39. > :26:41.York keeps them in the mix for a play`off place. And well done to
:26:42. > :26:42.Cheltenham for their win at Hartlepool. Jermaine McGlashan with
:26:43. > :26:48.the only goal of the game. Curled into the back post towards
:26:49. > :26:51.Jermaine McGlashan and Jermaine McGlashan has turned it in!
:26:52. > :27:09.Hartlepool zero. Cheltenham one. Burton still in the hunt, but top
:27:10. > :27:22.three out of the question? Yes, you do wonder. They did not score enough
:27:23. > :27:23.goals. I think if they stay in the play`offs, it will represent
:27:24. > :27:37.success. Gary Rowett has done a great job
:27:38. > :27:43.there. If he could just get someone who would guarantee him seven or
:27:44. > :27:45.eight goals in the final weeks of the season, they could be the team
:27:46. > :27:48.to watch. Our mascot this week is Sammy the
:27:49. > :27:50.Stag. Pleased after the weekend, Sammy? He is a man or woman of few
:27:51. > :27:53.words. Mansfield won courtesy of Adam
:27:54. > :27:57.Murray's early strike. One defeat in eight.
:27:58. > :28:05.And well done to Port Vale's after their draw at Stevenage.
:28:06. > :28:13.Mansfield are getting a bit of momentum momentum.
:28:14. > :28:22.They still have got a chance. We have got a couple of games in hand
:28:23. > :28:30.above teams in front of them. I talked Barry Fry to yesterday. Great
:28:31. > :28:38.day for them yesterday. Getting a trophy. I think he is still Barry
:28:39. > :28:40.Fry celebrating, ! So, that is it for another Late Kick
:28:41. > :28:43.Off. My thanks to Eric and Stan. Thanks
:28:44. > :28:45.also to our Supporters' Crew. Sammy the Stag, please do the
:28:46. > :28:47.honours. You can see how to get hold of us?
:28:48. > :28:56.@lkomids or on facebook.com/lkomids. That is for telling us if you would
:28:57. > :28:58.like to join us in the studio, too. We will be back at the same time
:28:59. > :29:01.next Monday. Goodnight.
