:00:28. > :00:35.#let's find out. Welcome to Late Kick Off. Coming up the football

:00:35. > :00:42.Twitter Radley on the fallout from social media. We can speak about

:00:42. > :00:49.games and what is going on. A superior ride? What the season has

:00:49. > :00:58.in store for Blackpool and Burnley. And the reality of life at the

:00:58. > :01:01.crisis relegated club Burnley. We have not got she was a Marine you're

:01:01. > :01:04.here. With me studio tonight, the man

:01:04. > :01:06.who's got Rochdale going again, it's manager Keith Hill. Thanks for

:01:06. > :01:08.coming in. Twitter - love it or hate it,

:01:09. > :01:11.football can't get away from it. Players at every club tweet,

:01:11. > :01:14.allowing thousands of curious followers into the finer details of

:01:14. > :01:17.their lives, from what they've had for breakfast, to what they thought

:01:17. > :01:20.of their team's performance. For some players it's a welcome release,

:01:20. > :01:30.for others, it's proved a problem. Ian Haslam's been looking into the

:01:30. > :01:33.

:01:33. > :01:35.impact on football of the social media revolution.

:01:35. > :01:41.Twitter is potentially highly problematic for anyone in the public

:01:41. > :01:46.eye including food dollars. Undeniably it is a great way for

:01:46. > :01:52.clubs to put out information to supporters. But it is not the clubs

:01:52. > :01:58.having the problems, it is the players. Bolton player scaled back

:01:58. > :02:05.his tweeting after getting abuse from opposition bands.

:02:05. > :02:10.It could be ordering on an obsession with this tweeting!

:02:10. > :02:19.Burnley player close to his account as Twitter became an unwelcome

:02:19. > :02:25.distraction during the January transfer -- transfer window. Also

:02:25. > :02:29.Bloomfield Road, Tommy Ince joined simply to stop other people

:02:29. > :02:39.pretending to be him. Some players think it is a great way to connect

:02:39. > :02:41.

:02:41. > :02:49.with the fans. It is a nice way to meet the fans.

:02:49. > :02:54.People can see that football players are actual people.

:02:54. > :02:59.Late Kick Off has obtained documents sent out to clubs outlining social

:02:59. > :03:04.media rules. There are reminders that the potential audiences

:03:04. > :03:10.unrestricted and that comments made in the heat of the moment might be

:03:10. > :03:14.regretted in the cold light of day. We have also got this document

:03:15. > :03:24.marked confidential. Among the key points listed say that any comments

:03:24. > :03:28.which aren't proper ring the game into disrepute. For managers as well

:03:28. > :03:38.as the governing bodies, you will only find one North West boss active

:03:38. > :03:40.

:03:40. > :03:48.on Twitter. I think I am more worried about the players using it.

:03:48. > :03:53.They can be subject to glory and abuse on Twitter. Over at Ang Lee,

:03:53. > :03:59.manager Sean Dyche is wary about Twitter but is confident his club

:03:59. > :04:07.have the measure of that. We have a code of conduct with that. I

:04:07. > :04:11.reinforce my beliefs with that. Managers do not like it because they

:04:11. > :04:18.do not want you to put anything on it about the games. Everything has

:04:18. > :04:25.to be behind closed doors. It depends on what kind of abuse you

:04:25. > :04:29.get. The main reason is that footballers come off it is because

:04:29. > :04:32.they get abuse which is bowing out of order.

:04:32. > :04:39.While most managers do not fancy Twitter, some of the club hierarchy

:04:39. > :04:49.do. Bill Gartside is a Twitter as is the chief executive of Accrington

:04:49. > :04:49.

:04:49. > :04:55.Stanley. It is great and it is another avenue of communication and

:04:55. > :04:58.it is good to keep the supporters updated. Perhaps the all in the

:04:58. > :05:02.North West and beyond really is getting to grips with social media

:05:02. > :05:08.sites like Twitter, whether it is good points I'd weighed the bad

:05:08. > :05:18.points, it will continue to be a matter for discussion.

:05:18. > :05:18.

:05:18. > :05:23.Much as I like to know all sorts of information, it is not for everyone.

:05:23. > :05:28.It is a problem, and it is OK when you're winning games, but we are

:05:28. > :05:36.only human. Some of the abuse players are getting has caused them

:05:36. > :05:40.to close down their accounts. I feel bad the football Association, with

:05:40. > :05:44.respect to making sure the players do not have Twitter accounts,

:05:44. > :05:49.players are inquisitive and they want to know what fans feel about

:05:49. > :05:54.their performance. But we have got to stop it at source and make sure

:05:54. > :06:03.players do not have accounts. think players should be banned from

:06:03. > :06:11.having occurrence? I think so. We should prepare managers how to deal

:06:11. > :06:21.with Twitter. Do you have a ban in place? We try to, but it is very

:06:21. > :06:25.

:06:25. > :06:32.difficult. I just believe it is causing too many problems, for

:06:32. > :06:39.managers and for players. Families have received abuse on Twitter, and

:06:39. > :06:42.it is just not acceptable. Input all terms, leading the team is a

:06:42. > :06:48.disaster before a game. Was it leaked deliberately or

:06:48. > :06:56.inadvertently? Inadvertently. Perhaps players telling their

:06:57. > :07:02.friends that they have not impact? We have been given clear information

:07:02. > :07:05.and team information prior to kick-off as well. I just feel that

:07:05. > :07:14.if the Football Association was to take action and close all player

:07:14. > :07:23.accounts, it would solve a lot of problems. We have seen is only one

:07:23. > :07:28.manager in the on Twitter. manager who is on Twitter, for how

:07:28. > :07:34.long, I am not sure. If you are not winning games, it can make things

:07:34. > :07:40.uncomfortable. You could just wake up on a Monday morning to a story

:07:40. > :07:44.that has made the papers and you have no control over it. It is an

:07:44. > :07:47.unnecessary evil for me. Players spend too much time on it. Thank

:07:47. > :07:51.you. Accrington Stanley's relegation

:07:51. > :07:53.battle is our main focus in League Two. And it's with Friday night's

:07:53. > :07:55.home clash with Morecambe that BBC Radio Manchester's Delyth Lloyd

:07:55. > :07:59.starts her round up. A crucial three points for

:07:59. > :08:02.Accrington in Friday night's Lancashire derby with Morecambe.

:08:02. > :08:08.They went ahead midway through the first half, Lee Molyneux's free-kick

:08:08. > :08:10.deflected in off Peter Murphy. Stanley doubled their lead just

:08:10. > :08:14.before the hour when some poor Morecambe defending allowed Rommy

:08:14. > :08:18.Boco to run through on goal and his scuffed shot was finished by Padraig

:08:18. > :08:22.Amond. The victory leaves Stanley five points clear of the relegation

:08:23. > :08:26.zone. Fleetwood's play-off hopes are all

:08:26. > :08:29.but over after a 2-1 defeat at promotion chasing Rotherham. Daniel

:08:29. > :08:34.Nardiello put the hosts ahead after just three minutes when Town keeper

:08:34. > :08:37.Scott Davies' hurried clearance fell to the striker. Fleetwood pulled

:08:37. > :08:42.level shortly after, when Junior Brown's effort was turned in by

:08:42. > :08:44.David Ball. But Rotherham's persistence paid off and they

:08:45. > :08:48.regained the lead through Kieran Agard midway through the second half

:08:48. > :08:51.to further dent Town's faint hopes of a third successive promotion.

:08:51. > :08:57.They're now five points off the play-off places with two games to

:08:57. > :09:03.Rochdale crashed Port Vale's planned promotion party, earning a last gasp

:09:03. > :09:07.draw at Spotland. Dale went ahead on 31 minutes through an own goal, Liam

:09:07. > :09:10.Chilvers putting the ball in his own net. Valewere back on level terms

:09:10. > :09:13.just three minutes later through a Tom Pope header and looked to have

:09:13. > :09:19.sealed the win in the 89th minute, Chilvers nodding home to make amends

:09:19. > :09:27.for his earlier error. But Rochdale put a stop to their celebrations

:09:27. > :09:31.through Jason Kennedy's equaliser deep into injury time.

:09:31. > :09:35.Let's look at what all that did to the table. Not much north west

:09:35. > :09:38.interest in the promotion or play off picture. Fleetwood need better

:09:38. > :09:41.form and big favours if they're to make the play-offs. The bottom half

:09:41. > :09:44.shows how important Stanley's win on Friday night was. Their last two

:09:44. > :09:53.games are both against mid table teams, away at Bristol Rovers and at

:09:53. > :09:58.home to Oxford. That must've been satisfying

:09:58. > :10:03.yesterday. What about the Rochdale fans watching this. What is

:10:03. > :10:08.happening with your contract? got a meeting tomorrow with the

:10:08. > :10:18.German and the Board of Directors. We are very close to finalising

:10:18. > :10:22.negotiations. It is been very amicable and is something we want to

:10:22. > :10:28.do. It is just about tomorrow, sitting at the table and thrashing

:10:28. > :10:33.out a few minor details. Tomorrow we could hear that you have been made

:10:33. > :10:39.permanent manager? I cannot see why not. I have really enjoyed my time

:10:39. > :10:45.here. Topping last month, you were saying that one of the conditions

:10:45. > :10:53.was that the club should desire and ambition. You getting that message

:10:53. > :11:01.from the board the chairman? They are making me promises, but not

:11:01. > :11:07.financial promises. The financial world is upside down. We will

:11:07. > :11:16.develop our own players and as long as we are all in Saint with that

:11:16. > :11:24.plan, we will be successful. they are in sync? They are. What

:11:24. > :11:33.about you? You made no disguises about the fact that you wanted to

:11:33. > :11:39.manage? I have a lot of time for Barnsley, and my experiences there.

:11:39. > :11:42.I tried to develop them. We retained a championship status, but it is

:11:42. > :11:48.very difficult because there are a lot of teams in a championship

:11:48. > :11:53.spending a lot of money, and a lot of money they have not got. We are

:11:53. > :11:59.looking for a fair and even competition and I feel there is not

:11:59. > :12:09.-- there is not bad and teams like Barnsley are suffering as a result.

:12:09. > :12:18.

:12:18. > :12:24.Barnsley are putting out decent results. Has the reputation been

:12:24. > :12:30.damaged? Where do you stand personally? I did not want to be out

:12:30. > :12:35.of the game. I got advised not to take the job at Rochdale but I am

:12:35. > :12:41.glad I did, it has given me enthusiasm and belief and belief in

:12:41. > :12:48.the players and we have still leave regressed as each game has gone on

:12:48. > :12:58.and on the training pitch. And I see a very good group of young players

:12:58. > :12:59.

:12:59. > :13:04.to develop for the future. Unbeaten run, but who advised you to go back?

:13:04. > :13:11.You can hear soundbites, there is the old - that you should never go

:13:12. > :13:16.back. -- adage. But it was a decision that I wanted to make. I

:13:16. > :13:22.have been welcomed back. And we have shown really good progress and the

:13:22. > :13:26.progress on the training pitch has given results. It was exactly what

:13:26. > :13:32.you did at Rochdale last time that got you spotted. If, next season,

:13:32. > :13:37.you get them up, the film might ring again. I have a lot more experience

:13:37. > :13:42.than I had when I previously left. I do not regret leaving because I

:13:42. > :13:49.enjoyed the championship and working for Barnsley but the decisions will

:13:49. > :13:53.dictate my future. I am pretty relaxed about this but I am very

:13:53. > :14:01.ambitious for Rochdale. Brilliant. Thank you. Thank you for being so

:14:01. > :14:08.candid. The only consistent thing about Blackpool and Burnley has good

:14:08. > :14:13.runs followed by followed they met at Bloomfield Road -- Bloomfield

:14:13. > :14:23.Road yesterday and fans had one eye on the match and the other on what

:14:23. > :14:26.

:14:26. > :14:32.might happen in the summer. Seven cases might separate the teams on

:14:32. > :14:36.the table but with the tightness of the championship at three points,

:14:36. > :14:40.two day, these relatively new managers will have one eye on 70 and

:14:40. > :14:46.the other on holding their statistics over the summer. After

:14:46. > :14:50.the managerial moves at Blackpool, they have only lost once in a last

:14:50. > :14:58.eight games. He is a good manager and has done well. He is

:14:58. > :15:08.progressing. If we win today, he will be up there with the best.

:15:08. > :15:09.

:15:09. > :15:13.will do the club really well. Up to them! Here is quite disciplined.

:15:13. > :15:22.That comes through in the way he plays. He is not gung ho. Perhaps

:15:22. > :15:27.like Ian was. He is quite rigid in what he said side. Higher or the

:15:27. > :15:32.players responding? It has been a slow process. I think the results

:15:32. > :15:35.have started to go our way and we are winning rather than drawing and

:15:35. > :15:40.that is a big plus a cause they are slowly getting away from the

:15:40. > :15:43.relegation zone. Which is a big plus. Since taking over an absorber,

:15:43. > :15:51.Sean Dyke has worked on strengthening the Burnley defence

:15:51. > :15:56.and with one loss in the last seven, it seems to be paying off. We have

:15:56. > :16:02.to give him time, there are too many clubs searching -- sacking managers

:16:02. > :16:06.willy-nilly. He should be given a chance. He should be encouraged, he

:16:06. > :16:13.needs that pre-season with his own players and see how we get on next

:16:13. > :16:15.season. It will be a big season next season, if he is given the tools,

:16:16. > :16:21.bringing in quality players, and adding to the squad, he will have a

:16:21. > :16:27.good season. Will the club have the tools and the finances? Looking from

:16:27. > :16:31.the outside, it does not look likely. But to compete at the top

:16:31. > :16:37.half of the championship, you need the money. With edge conditions

:16:37. > :16:39.proving tricky, the only goal of the game came in the second half. This

:16:39. > :16:45.wondrous strike clinching the win for Blackpool and easing relegation

:16:45. > :16:52.worries. Will we see the same squad next year or do you think there will

:16:52. > :16:58.be changes? Possibly six other current squad still under contract

:16:58. > :17:07.and it might even be less than that. It is a big-time. The expectations

:17:07. > :17:12.have to be there. He has a big job on his hands. This will be where he

:17:12. > :17:18.earns his money during the summer and the setup next season. I think

:17:18. > :17:22.he needs to add to the squad. To get more consistency into the team and

:17:22. > :17:28.perhaps have another plan if things do not go well on the pitch but if

:17:28. > :17:33.he is given the chance, he could have a very good season next season.

:17:33. > :17:39.What about juggling and keeping one eye on the summer? It is hard

:17:39. > :17:49.because you do not know about the player contracts, what league I am

:17:49. > :17:56.in. The quicker they can pick up the points, the quicker I can get that

:17:56. > :18:03.around the table. It has been hard, it has been a quick, short fix. It

:18:03. > :18:08.is about stability and we have the nucleus to take us forward. Today,

:18:08. > :18:13.we were nearly but not quite and they were also. It did take that

:18:13. > :18:19.moment of quality. With the manager is settling into Lancashire life,

:18:19. > :18:22.the rivals could be back to battling it out at the top next season. Both

:18:22. > :18:32.on 54 points. Things to BBC radio Lancashire for lending us their

:18:32. > :18:36.

:18:36. > :18:39.commentators. Both of the other challenge Bolton are in the form

:18:39. > :18:47.team in the championship and their run of seven wins in ten has

:18:47. > :18:50.propelled them into the play-off places. Their latest victory came at

:18:50. > :18:53.bottom-of-the-table Bristol City. Wanderers were ahead inside two

:18:53. > :18:56.minutes after Liam Fontaine turned Darren Pratley's cross into his own

:18:56. > :18:59.net. The home side equalised after the break through Steven Davies but

:18:59. > :19:02.the game was settled 11 minutes from time in Bolton's favour from the

:19:02. > :19:06.spot. David Ngog was brought down and substitute Craig Davies made no

:19:06. > :19:13.mistake from 12 yards to move Bolton up to sixth on goal difference.

:19:13. > :19:18.are working every afternoon and analysing and it is paying off. It

:19:18. > :19:21.has been designed. At the other end of the table, some welcome good news

:19:21. > :19:24.at last for Blackburn, who climbed out of the relegation zone after a

:19:24. > :19:27.crucial victory over Derby County. Jordan Rhodes scored his 26th goal

:19:27. > :19:34.of the season from the penalty sp the only consistent thing about

:19:35. > :19:38.Blackpool and Burnley has been their inconsistency. Scott Dann made it

:19:38. > :19:41.2-0 on the stroke of half-time to secure Rovers' first League win at

:19:41. > :19:45.Ewood Park in over two months and end a ten-match winless run.

:19:45. > :19:50.scored goals at the right time today and we have shown a great desire to

:19:50. > :19:56.keep a clean sheet and character and all others mental aspect. Really

:19:56. > :20:01.crucial for both teams. Let's look at the top of the table. There we

:20:01. > :20:08.are. They have snuck in at the expense of Nottingham Forest. Board

:20:08. > :20:17.games left. But Leicester a way, Cardiff away, Blackpool at home, not

:20:17. > :20:22.easy? They have given themselves a great chance. One month ago, bottom

:20:23. > :20:29.five. Didier backed himself and the players for the promotion push so he

:20:29. > :20:33.must have believed that they could achieve that. They are in good form.

:20:33. > :20:39.He needed time to settle in and he appears to be turning this around?

:20:39. > :20:46.He does but I think Greg Dawson was a great signing and since he has

:20:46. > :20:52.been there, fortunes have turned. Let's look at the bottom half.

:20:52. > :20:57.Rovers have some way to go to get out of their relegation position.

:20:57. > :21:02.Inconceivable that they can go down? It has been a travesty at Blackburn.

:21:02. > :21:08.With the management merry-go-round and when Gary was in charge before,

:21:08. > :21:12.I thought that he sprinkled magic on them and I do believe he should have

:21:12. > :21:17.been the manager at the time. He has got the result at the weekend and

:21:17. > :21:26.they will stay clear of danger themselves. Can he get the job?

:21:26. > :21:29.Certainly can. OK. All four of our Championship sides have games in

:21:29. > :21:31.midweek and there are a couple of key match-ups at both ends of the

:21:31. > :21:34.table. Blackburn host relegation rivals Huddersfield while play-off

:21:34. > :21:36.contenders Bolton and Leicester meet in the Midlands. Burnley are at

:21:36. > :21:46.Leeds and Blackpool host Sheffield Wednesday. Coverage and reaction on

:21:46. > :21:50.

:21:50. > :21:52.your BBC local radio station. Two weeks ago we bought you exclusive

:21:52. > :21:54.and explosive coverage of a Bury fans forum, where frustrations were

:21:54. > :21:57.exchanged between supporters, the chairman and manager Kevin

:21:57. > :22:00.Blackwell. Well, last week the news broke that The Shakers needed 1

:22:00. > :22:03.million for their very survival. Survival in League One was even more

:22:03. > :22:06.precarious as they hosted Oldham yesterday. They needed a point to

:22:06. > :22:08.stave off relegation. That's where Lee Bennion starts the League One

:22:08. > :22:13.round-up. You have problems when you take over the Portsmouth mantel as

:22:13. > :22:17.the crisis club. Bury fans turned up yesterday for the last rites

:22:17. > :22:25.relegation wise but hoped it would not be the same for the club. If we

:22:25. > :22:28.go down, there is always next season. If people don't want to come

:22:28. > :22:33.and watch, at the end of the day, or they cannot afford it, the club will

:22:33. > :22:39.disappear. Two years ago they said they had no money problems and the

:22:39. > :22:44.old their own ground. What the hell have the directors been doing?

:22:44. > :22:47.club says that administration is not an option. David Manchester says

:22:47. > :22:51.that talks with potential investors have been promising. If we get the

:22:51. > :22:55.funding, we are confident we can make this club viable for the

:22:55. > :23:00.long-term. That is why we are looking for this kind of money

:23:00. > :23:05.rather than small amounts that would get used up quickly. On the pitch it

:23:05. > :23:09.was local rivals, Oldham, who condemned them to relegation. The

:23:09. > :23:13.late goal from Matt Smith ending their two-year stay in league one

:23:13. > :23:18.and with it, enhancing their chances of survival. But approved mission

:23:19. > :23:24.impossible for the manager, he arrived a little over six months ago

:23:24. > :23:29.with the club exactly where they are now. Bottom of the table. I would
