:00:00. > :00:10.Good evening. This man here has won promotion with every team hd's

:00:11. > :00:13.managed, except one ` the club he's currently with. Preston man`ger

:00:14. > :00:15.Simon Grayson is here tonight to tell us whether that stat is about

:00:16. > :00:32.to change. Coming up in the next half hour

:00:33. > :00:37.Famous for all the wrong re`sons ` Tranmere's Joe Thompson on his fight

:00:38. > :00:41.with cancer and his comeback plans. With the competitive nature, I would

:00:42. > :00:44.like to make sure that I'm back within the year and that's ` sense

:00:45. > :00:47.of achievement. Piling on the promotion pressure `

:00:48. > :00:54.the Fleetwood chairman's rallying call for the run`in. We'll do

:00:55. > :00:59.everything we can to ensure we can achieve promotion this season.

:01:00. > :01:00.And just what was the answer that caused One on One's very first

:01:01. > :01:10.walk`out? 25`year`old midfielder Joe Thompson

:01:11. > :01:16.began his career at Rochdald, his home town club. Over seven seasons,

:01:17. > :01:19.he made more than 150 appearances, this being his last league goal

:01:20. > :01:24.before signing for Tranmere two years ago, where's he's madd quite

:01:25. > :01:27.an impression. But last Novdmber, Joe was diagnosed with a rare form

:01:28. > :01:32.of cancer, a type of Hodgkin lymphoma. He's now juggling six

:01:33. > :01:37.months of chemotherapy with being a dad and a charity fundraiser.

:01:38. > :01:40.and his partner Chantelle s`y once the cancer is beaten, the rdst of

:01:41. > :01:44.his life will be a breeze. They ve been speaking to Late Kick Off's

:01:45. > :01:48.Alex Worsick. Yeah, it's bedn intense, but it's been in w`ves

:01:49. > :01:54.Basically, when I have the chemotherapy on the Monday, I'm not

:01:55. > :02:00.so good at all. On Monday nhght I'm struggling with sickness in

:02:01. > :02:06.particular. Then for the few days after, I suffer from quite bad

:02:07. > :02:10.nausea. That's not easy when you have a young daughter running about

:02:11. > :02:13.the place, is it? Yeah, but I wouldn't change it because H think

:02:14. > :02:18.if she wasn't about, I wouldn't be lazy but I'd put myself in ` cocoon

:02:19. > :02:21.and put myself on the sofa `nd put my tracksuit on and stuff lhke that,

:02:22. > :02:30.but like you say, 18 months, she's looking to play. She makes xou get

:02:31. > :02:34.out of bed. Yeah. Looking to read, and I have to read, but I jtst

:02:35. > :02:38.think, like, I don't want to see me on the sofa too much, so basically

:02:39. > :02:42.I've kind of timed it so whdn Chantelle puts her down for her nap,

:02:43. > :02:48.I make sure I get an hour and a half in the afternoon. Catch up. Yeah. So

:02:49. > :02:57.I'm OK when she's awake and wants to do stuff. People who have bden doing

:02:58. > :03:00.things a bit differently, your team`mates, your clubmates, the way

:03:01. > :03:03.they're supporting you in the Grow4Joe appeal. What you think of

:03:04. > :03:05.that? They've been spot on. When they first came to me, it w`s Max

:03:06. > :03:11.Power in particular, and he said, I have an idea, you're on a journey, I

:03:12. > :03:15.know it will be difficult for you but I want to show my support, and

:03:16. > :03:21.also raise money for charitx by growing my hair. I was like, OK so

:03:22. > :03:26.when I went in, I threw it on the lads and said, are you going to

:03:27. > :03:36.leave it all up to Max? A fdw of them jumped on board. Danny Owens,

:03:37. > :03:39.ran low. They're all growing their hair, growing their beards, and the

:03:40. > :03:42.staff have got involved so ht has been spot on. Whose is your

:03:43. > :03:47.favourite beard so far? I lhke Holmes's. I know a lot of pdople are

:03:48. > :03:55.a big fan of Lowey's with hhs white tints in it and stuff like that but

:03:56. > :03:58.I do like Danny Holmes's. Wd kind of said at the beginning when the

:03:59. > :04:02.supporters did the seven`minute applause, we thought it would be for

:04:03. > :04:05.one or two games but it has been consistent. They haven't forgotten.

:04:06. > :04:14.Every game, they've been am`zing. What other messages of support have

:04:15. > :04:17.you been getting? Any unusu`l ones from places you hadn't expected

:04:18. > :04:21.Loads of people who I never thought would have had my number managed to

:04:22. > :04:24.get my number. The likes of Stiliyan Petrov, Mark Halsey, Ross Httchins,

:04:25. > :04:28.and I had a really good conversation with Brian Robson. And my bdst

:04:29. > :04:32.friend over there, Ross Hutchins, he was diagnosed with cancer. H guess

:04:33. > :04:38.Ross Hutchins is a situation similar to yours in that he is the top of

:04:39. > :04:41.his game and he wanted to gdt back to it. No, I was saying to Chantelle

:04:42. > :04:46.the other day, I feel like H pester him from time to time. Half the time

:04:47. > :04:50.I'm not sure what country hd's in or whether he's awake to get b`ck to

:04:51. > :04:54.the texts and stuff like, btt it seems like it has taken him three

:04:55. > :04:57.months or so to get back in. He said he started really light and things

:04:58. > :05:00.like that, and he did a few exercises regarding building his

:05:01. > :05:04.muscles up and things like that and then the final month he got his

:05:05. > :05:08.racket out and started getthng into it again. Is that inspiring for you

:05:09. > :05:12.that he seems to have come back quickly? Yeah, it's proof it can be

:05:13. > :05:15.done, so that is my goal, b`sically, and with the competitive nature I

:05:16. > :05:20.would like to make sure I'm back within the year. He has put you in

:05:21. > :05:25.touch with so many people you wouldn't have expected. Yeah. Famous

:05:26. > :05:30.for all the wrong reasons, hn a way, I say. But no, it's really good and

:05:31. > :05:35.I've tried my best to use it as an opportunity to raise awarendss and

:05:36. > :05:39.to help others. People do h`ve times in their lives and I think they re

:05:40. > :05:43.the making of people, you know what I mean? I think with this, H just

:05:44. > :05:47.thought, OK, no problem. We always say, don't we, our life's jtst on

:05:48. > :05:52.pause at the moment. Yeah, ht is. It's just on hold. We're just

:05:53. > :05:58.waiting to kind of get back into playing. Yeah, kick on. Yeah. Simon,

:05:59. > :06:01.they seem like an extraordinary strong couple. And it was

:06:02. > :06:04.interesting for me watching that, when he talked about the fans

:06:05. > :06:05.clapping, he said, they're not forgotten, and that will be

:06:06. > :06:09.important. It perspective, doesn't it? We've been

:06:10. > :06:13.at Prenton Park when the fans have started clapping after seven minutes

:06:14. > :06:16.and players coming out with their beards. Its great support for the

:06:17. > :06:20.lad and hopefully he comes back quickly and finishes a caredr off,

:06:21. > :06:24.he can look back and think ht's just been on hold for a little bht, but

:06:25. > :06:27.obviously they are staying strong as a partnership and will come through

:06:28. > :06:31.this very strong. I'm sure of it. It's great that everyone is rallying

:06:32. > :06:34.round. You can find details of Joe and Chantelle's fundraising events,

:06:35. > :06:37.how to get hold of a wristb`nd, or grow a decent beard, ladies, online

:06:38. > :06:43.at grow4joe.com or on Twittdr @grow4joe.

:06:44. > :06:45.and Chantelle's fundraising events, how to get hold of a wristb`nd, or

:06:46. > :06:49.Bad news from Prenton Park off the field this weekend with the collapse

:06:50. > :06:51.of the club's takeover. On the field, Rovers are battling

:06:52. > :06:55.relegation along with a couple more of our teams. With the weekdnd's

:06:56. > :07:01.League One action, here's BBC Radio Manchester's Liam Bradford.

:07:02. > :07:06.Crewe might have dominated Coventry in terms of possession and chances,

:07:07. > :07:09.but that counts for nothing after a defeat which sees them slidd back

:07:10. > :07:12.into the bottom four. Callul Wilson put City ahead, converting `fter

:07:13. > :07:16.Franck Moussa's effort had come back off the post. It looked the home

:07:17. > :07:19.side's luck was changing whdn Jordan Clarke's own goal levelled things

:07:20. > :07:22.midway through the second h`lf, but that wasn't the case and thd

:07:23. > :07:23.visitors stole all three pohnts nine minutes from time, when Wilson

:07:24. > :07:32.scored his second. It's only goals scored which is

:07:33. > :07:35.keeping Tranmere out of the drop zone, but they couldn't find the net

:07:36. > :07:38.in their relegation six`pointer at home to Carlisle. They did come

:07:39. > :07:43.close, though, Jake Cassidy hitting the post in the first half `nd

:07:44. > :07:46.forcing a fine save from thd Cumbrians' keeper Jordan Pickford in

:07:47. > :07:49.the second. Stalemate, too, for Oldham, but this was a good point

:07:50. > :07:53.ahead of promotion`chasing Brentford. Again it was the Latics

:07:54. > :07:55.with the better chances, Danny Philliskirk going close before the

:07:56. > :07:59.break while James Wilson's powerful header was kept out as the Latics

:08:00. > :08:05.extended their unbeaten run to four games.

:08:06. > :08:10.We'll look at Preston's match with Crawley in a moment with Silon, but

:08:11. > :08:14.here's the bottom half of the table and it shows just how tight things

:08:15. > :08:20.are for Tranmere and Crewe. Eight points currently separate tdn teams.

:08:21. > :08:25.Simon, let's first have a look back at your goal against Crawlex at the

:08:26. > :08:29.weekend. Talk us through it, a winner from Joe Garner. We started

:08:30. > :08:33.the game well, got Lee Holmds on this the ball in this wide `rea

:08:34. > :08:37.sets a nice ball back for Kdith Keane, puts a great ball in and Joe

:08:38. > :08:40.Garner has done what he's done really well in the last few months,

:08:41. > :08:44.just finds space, great finhsh with head, feet, another celebration from

:08:45. > :08:47.Joe Garner. He could do with working on the celebration a bit. It's not

:08:48. > :08:51.great, it's like a double Shearer. He's come out with his duck thing as

:08:52. > :08:55.well. I don't know a lot about it. I'm not bothered as long he as he

:08:56. > :08:59.keeps scoring, the more celdbrations the better for us and for hhm. Let's

:09:00. > :09:03.see what you'll be celebrathng at the end of the season. We c`n look

:09:04. > :09:04.at the top of the table and talk about cementing position in the

:09:05. > :09:07.play`offs, look at that. about cementing position in the

:09:08. > :09:11.play`offs, look at You are firmly there points wise, so is it a case

:09:12. > :09:17.of going for the top two? I think so. We can't give up hope. We still

:09:18. > :09:21.have a number of games, we think we can win all of them, so obvhously

:09:22. > :09:25.you're going to rely on the teams above you to drop points and over

:09:26. > :09:28.the past weeks teams have dropped points, so nothing is unachhevable.

:09:29. > :09:32.We will keep going and try to win every match and see where it takes

:09:33. > :09:37.us. It is a bit like our destiny is out of our hands but we are going to

:09:38. > :09:41.give it a good go. I will t`lk about your running in a minute because it

:09:42. > :09:45.is quite a favourable running, but you know this better than md, I know

:09:46. > :09:48.a few Preston fans and they are panicking about the play`offs and

:09:49. > :09:51.with good reason. Eight plax`off appearances and eight failures. What

:09:52. > :09:55.would you say to the Preston fans' psyche? It's got to end somdwhere

:09:56. > :09:58.down the line. We have been to games this season where we've not won at

:09:59. > :10:02.certain grounds in 50`odd ydars and we've done that, so law of `verages

:10:03. > :10:06.suggest it's got to be brokdn soon and if we have to go into the

:10:07. > :10:09.play`offs, let's embrace it, enjoy it, don't panic too much and

:10:10. > :10:12.hopefully we can get promothon that way. It is not just words from you,

:10:13. > :10:16.because your personal play`off record is pretty good. What is it?

:10:17. > :10:22.Four finals as a player, won two and lost two, and two as a manager. So

:10:23. > :10:26.not bad, but I want to try `nd achieve a third as a manager. You

:10:27. > :10:29.are the man to have in the dugout. What about this team if it goes up,

:10:30. > :10:32.what is achievable in the championship? I think we have a

:10:33. > :10:36.strong squad and we proved before Christmas that regardless of whether

:10:37. > :10:39.we are in League One or the championship, we give a lot of new

:10:40. > :10:44.contracts to players so thex're here for the long term, we think a number

:10:45. > :10:44.of them will be able to compete in the championship. We

:10:45. > :10:52.go up we will have to strengthen it but we think we have the nucleus of

:10:53. > :10:55.a good squad for League One next year or in the championship. The

:10:56. > :10:58.difficulty with the playoffs is you are playing catch`up becausd you

:10:59. > :11:02.have to bring in new people. You don't know how many games you have

:11:03. > :11:06.towards the end of the season. It is difficult to plan. It's not easy.

:11:07. > :11:09.It's the best way to get promoted if you can guarantee success at Wembley

:11:10. > :11:13.because everybody's dream is to play at Wembley and lift a trophx there,

:11:14. > :11:17.but from our perspective as coaching staff, we are trying to put things

:11:18. > :11:21.in place for next year. We have all our preseason preparations firmed

:11:22. > :11:24.up, but you have to keep an eye on what sort of players you wotld like

:11:25. > :11:28.to have enter the championship, if we manage to get there, or League

:11:29. > :11:32.One next year, so we will work hard on the pitch, off the pitch and see

:11:33. > :11:36.where it takes us. Hopefullx we will chat at the end but you've only

:11:37. > :11:40.faced one team from the top half in the last six games, so that's not

:11:41. > :11:44.too bad. No, but some of those teams we've had to play fighting for their

:11:45. > :11:48.lives. You've seen how tight it is at the bottom. We have Crewd and

:11:49. > :11:52.Carlisle in the next few wedks, so everyone needs points but wd do feel

:11:53. > :11:55.every game is a winnable gale for us. Thank you, Simon.

:11:56. > :11:58.Elsewhere, Saturday was a bhg day in the Championship, with the top two

:11:59. > :12:02.meeting at Turf Moor and a cracker of a derby with Bolton hosthng

:12:03. > :12:05.Wigan. All the action from The Reebok is brought you by BBC Radio

:12:06. > :12:09.Manchester's Jack Dearden. Jutkiewicz, Wheater makes the move.

:12:10. > :12:13.Into the penalty area, and hnto the back of the net. It's just toe poked

:12:14. > :12:22.in there by deserve it on opportunities created.

:12:23. > :12:32.Here's another one. It's 1`0, smashed into the net by Nick Powell.

:12:33. > :12:34.Bolton are absolutely stunndd. Player's injured inside the Bolton

:12:35. > :12:38.Wanderers penalty area. Callum McManaman to the penalty. That has

:12:39. > :12:41.to be a penalty kick. It is a penalty kick to Wigan Athletic.

:12:42. > :12:50.Gomez left footed, saved by Adam Bogdan. It remains at 1`1. What a

:12:51. > :12:53.save by the keeper. What dr`ma at the Reebok. I thought we were

:12:54. > :12:56.fantastic today. 75 minutes of the game we were tremendous, defended

:12:57. > :13:07.well, attack on display was fantastic and could have resulted in

:13:08. > :13:10.more goals. I still think wd lost two points but three or four minutes

:13:11. > :13:15.before the end, you probablx would have taken to draw. I agree with

:13:16. > :13:18.Jack. What a finish and what a save by Bogdan. With the rest of the

:13:19. > :13:21.Championship action from thd weekend, here's Howard Booth.

:13:22. > :13:24.Burnley haven't had many daxs to forget this season, but Sattrday was

:13:25. > :13:28.definitely one. Clarets fans could tell when striker Sam Vokes limped

:13:29. > :13:31.out of the action after just five minutes. Without Vokes and strike

:13:32. > :13:34.partner Danny Ings, Burnley lacked an edge while the visitors displayed

:13:35. > :13:37.finishing worthy of their position as league leaders. David Nugent gave

:13:38. > :13:40.them the lead ten minutes bdfore the break with this curling effort while

:13:41. > :13:44.another quality goal from Chris Wood wrapped up their victory late in the

:13:45. > :13:48.second half. Blackpool did Burnley a favour down at third`placed QPR

:13:49. > :13:50.holding their hosts to a dr`w. The Seasiders took the lead early on

:13:51. > :13:53.when David Goodwille scored from close range and they frustr`ted

:13:54. > :13:56.Harry Redknapp's stuttering side for long periods. Junior Hoilett finally

:13:57. > :13:59.breached the Blackpool back line 12 minutes from time. While Rangers

:14:00. > :14:02.pushed for the three points to increase pressure on Burnlex, it was

:14:03. > :14:05.Barry Ferguson's boys who c`me closest to a winner, Tom Barkhoozen

:14:06. > :14:13.missing an excellent chance to take all three points. Blackburn boss

:14:14. > :14:17.Gary Bowyer was left frustr`ted with the officials after a battlhng draw

:14:18. > :14:20.at Millwall. All the action came in a frantic final half hour, sparked

:14:21. > :14:24.by a controversial red card for Rovers skipper Grant Hanley. He was

:14:25. > :14:28.adjudged to have prevented Steve Morison from scoring, but the home

:14:29. > :14:31.side did find the net from Shaun Williams' resultant penalty. But the

:14:32. > :14:34.ten man weren't behind for long Michael Keane heading home Craig

:14:35. > :14:37.Conway's corner. Keane was `lso involved in the next goal, referee

:14:38. > :14:40.James Linnington deciding hd had brought down Simeon Jackson. The

:14:41. > :14:43.striker picked himself up to give his side a 2`1 lead with two just

:14:44. > :14:48.minutes to go. But Blackburn battled their way to a point. Tommy Spurr's

:14:49. > :14:50.throw in caused chaos in thd box and Josh King got enough on the ball to

:14:51. > :14:58.earn his side that point. A scan at the table shows that

:14:59. > :15:01.Burnley's defeat wasn't too costly because of Blackpool's good point

:15:02. > :15:03.down at QPR. Despite Uwe Rosler s disappointment, Wigan look like a

:15:04. > :15:07.play`off certainty. Blackpool keep picking up points and it's ` good

:15:08. > :15:11.job they do. They're seven points above the bottom four but two of the

:15:12. > :15:15.teams below them do have gales in hand. Wigan play their game in hand

:15:16. > :15:18.tomorrow night and what a g`me it is. BBC Radio Manchester will have

:15:19. > :15:23.the very best coverage of their match

:15:24. > :15:25.Radio Lancashire is the place for Blackburn`Brighton. Now, whdn you're

:15:26. > :15:28.known as the fastest progressing club in English football, the aim is

:15:29. > :15:32.to keep progressing. For Fldetwood, that means promotion to League One

:15:33. > :15:38.in just their second season in the Football League. A lowly non`League

:15:39. > :15:39.club little over a decade ago, on Saturday they hosted

:15:40. > :15:45.top`of`the`table Rochdale. Han Haslam was there. Rochdale fans

:15:46. > :15:49.heading to the coast and thdy have every reason to be happy. Top of the

:15:50. > :15:57.table and looking likely to make return to League One. Fleetwood

:15:58. > :16:01.might yet join them but defdat today for the hosts would mean by the time

:16:02. > :16:08.the clocks go forward, their hopes of automatic promotion might have

:16:09. > :16:11.run out of time. We are verx happy. Seven promotions in seven ydars it

:16:12. > :16:19.was expected, we have a chahrman who loves football, the club and the

:16:20. > :16:22.supporters you cannot ask for more. Fleetwood's rise has been

:16:23. > :16:27.masterminded by the chairman and this is a club constantly aspiring

:16:28. > :16:38.to the next level. We have been very good. Our season has been ldt down

:16:39. > :16:41.slightly by inconsistencies. After a couple of seasons, is Leagud Two

:16:42. > :16:44.more difficult than you thotght I think it is, yes, there was a

:16:45. > :16:47.misconception that because our force bots, we have confidence whdreas the

:16:48. > :16:49.result we want automatic promotion spot, this be great, we will be able

:16:50. > :17:00.to get into League no easy games in League Two at all.

:17:01. > :17:05.`` for promotion spots. Fledtwood came out on top when the sides met

:17:06. > :17:07.in December. We are inside the inner workings, three hours beford

:17:08. > :17:16.kick`off, follow me into thd home dressing room. All the shirts are

:17:17. > :17:20.laid out, multiple choice of boots and the names on the shirts, they

:17:21. > :17:23.hope these people believed them to victory next season. `` will lead

:17:24. > :17:27.them to victory. Our aim for the season was to get promotion.

:17:28. > :17:35.Hopefully we can do it. But today is the day. We are living the dream,

:17:36. > :17:38.being in the football Leagud and if not successful, we will go for it

:17:39. > :17:40.again next season. We will do everything we can to ensure we can

:17:41. > :18:00.achieve promotion this season. Hard`fought was one way to describe

:18:01. > :18:03.this match, no goals but colpelling spectacle. He has put over! And that

:18:04. > :18:14.was the best chance of the game Headed back across. It hits the

:18:15. > :18:17.post! Great effort. A draw was enough to keep Rochdale top while

:18:18. > :18:21.Fleetwood edged one point closer to third placed Chesterfield, who they

:18:22. > :18:26.play on the last day of the season, so where does this leave thd top

:18:27. > :18:28.three finish? It is still on, we're not giving anything up. Even if we

:18:29. > :18:32.had won, or lost. Even Stevdns, happy for the point, it keeps us at

:18:33. > :18:36.nine points, I thought we h`d an excellent outfit today at home. They

:18:37. > :18:41.are second to us, we are expecting most victories at home. We're

:18:42. > :18:47.catching up on ourselves because the rise has been rapid. All thd

:18:48. > :18:51.intentions are there, fantastic and the sooner we get to that it'll be

:18:52. > :18:59.better for the whole town of Fleetwood and the time. `` the town.

:19:00. > :19:04.Here's a look at where that draw leaves Fleetwood and Rochdale. As

:19:05. > :19:07.you were at the top for Dald as Scunthorpe also drew and

:19:08. > :19:09.Chesterfield were playing in the JPT Final, where they lost to

:19:10. > :19:13.Peterborough. Fleetwood with five points to make up from their final

:19:14. > :19:16.six games. The rest of Saturday s League Two action was focussed on

:19:17. > :19:20.big games at the bottom. With it, here's Nazia Mogra. Draw spdcialists

:19:21. > :19:24.Bury have been desperate for a win for weeks and they saved it for one

:19:25. > :19:26.of the most important games of the season, against strugglers

:19:27. > :19:29.Northampton Town. David Flitcroft brought in two loan strikers late

:19:30. > :19:33.last week and both scored ddbut goals. One of them, Hallam Hope

:19:34. > :19:42.struck from close range to give the Shakers the lead while Dannx Mayor's

:19:43. > :19:45.deflected effort doubled it. Danny Rose added a third late on to

:19:46. > :19:52.significantly ease Bury's rdlegation concerns. Accrington's manager,

:19:53. > :20:00.James Beattie, admitted thehr victory at Exeter wasn't prdtty but

:20:01. > :20:02.it did secure three vital points. Kayode Odejayi bundled home the only

:20:03. > :20:10.goal to move Stanley nine points clear of the relegation zond. They

:20:11. > :20:13.also leapfrog Morecambe, who are now five League games without a win

:20:14. > :20:16.They lost to an injury time header at Bristol Rovers. Afterwards, Jim

:20:17. > :20:18.Bentley said it was the hardest goal he'd had to take as the Shrhmps

:20:19. > :20:25.manager. Well, a glance at the bottol of the

:20:26. > :20:29.League Two table shows just how big those wins were for Stanley and

:20:30. > :20:32.Bury. Morecambe could do with a break after those five games without

:20:33. > :20:37.a win. Bury could take another big step towards total safety tomorrow

:20:38. > :20:41.night. They host Bristol Rovers at the JD Stadium. Now, what else can

:20:42. > :20:45.we possibly say about our vdry own quiz, One On One? How about that it

:20:46. > :20:50.really is the gift that keeps giving? Last week we had our very

:20:51. > :20:54.first and very last Four On Four. Tonight, another first. A w`lk`out.

:20:55. > :20:57.Entertaining us and their tdam mates this week, Accrington Stanldy's

:21:50. > :21:57.Barry? Barry? I just said that! Brian. Bob? What is the answer,

:21:58. > :22:00.Nicky? Brett. Brett?! Which famous footballer was better known to his

:22:01. > :22:16.parents as Edson Arantes do Nascimento? Messi? Ronaldinho? It's

:22:17. > :22:22.not going to be Rooney, is ht? Pele? Nice one! I know it's a guess, that

:22:23. > :22:26.is why I have gone like that! According to staff, which Accrington

:22:27. > :22:41.player dresses the worst? Ddan Winnard.

:22:42. > :22:59.What is a baby goat called? A mule. I don't know! A kid.

:23:00. > :23:10.Direction member recently m`de his debut for Doncaster reserves? Louis

:23:11. > :23:20.Tomlinson. You should be docked for that! Which meat traditionally goes

:23:39. > :23:56.WAG? The gaffer's! Sheep meat, eh?That was a great one.

:23:57. > :24:09.Have another look at Nicky Hunt s reaction to Andrew Dawber thinking a

:24:10. > :24:23.mule was a baby goat. Look `t his eyes. What is a baby goat c`lled? A

:24:24. > :24:31.mule? They don't let us down! Every week. It's all good banter. Some

:24:32. > :24:34.come out of it looking more stupid than others but I suppose that

:24:35. > :24:41.speaks highly of footballers these days. Who would you pick? It would

:24:42. > :24:46.be easier to keep one out! Keep Kevin Davies out and take your pick

:24:47. > :24:50.of the others! We might takd you up on that! Football, our national

:24:51. > :24:59.game, with 1.5 million people playing every week. But that isn't

:25:00. > :25:02.as healthy as it sounds. Thd grassroots game has serious problems

:25:03. > :25:05.and to make matters worse, Sport England has announced funding cuts

:25:06. > :25:08.because those participation numbers are falling. With a special report,

:25:09. > :25:14.here's Late Kick Off''s Kevhn Kilbane.

:25:15. > :25:17.Unbelievably, football is no longer the top participant sport in this

:25:18. > :25:23.country. More people nowadaxs prefer to run, swim or cycle. Playhng

:25:24. > :25:27.numbers are in decline and hn many places facilities are shockhng.

:25:28. > :25:30.Junior football still has the ongoing issue of overaggressive

:25:31. > :25:34.parents and many still question the way we coach our kids. Make no

:25:35. > :25:41.mistake, the grassroots gamd is in big trouble. Did you enjoy that

:25:42. > :25:46.Good. You played well. Kennx Saunders is a manager of Woolton FC.

:25:47. > :25:52.He has launched a campaign to save grassroots football. Grassroots

:25:53. > :25:55.football is in massive dangdr. It could fold in the next five to ten

:25:56. > :25:58.years. There are massive problems, right from funding through to

:25:59. > :26:05.grassroots coaching and pardnts the Respect campaigns. There ard many

:26:06. > :26:08.issues out there at the momdnt. Although Woolton have addressed the

:26:09. > :26:14.issue of pushy parents from the touchline, not everyone elsd has.

:26:15. > :26:22.That is a yellow card, ref! Yellow card him! He's an animal! You're an

:26:23. > :26:24.animal. He deserves a yellow card. Constantly shouting instructions is

:26:25. > :26:30.counter`productive but we do want that noise and support, that is what

:26:31. > :26:33.the young people want. But parents would not shut at children during a

:26:34. > :26:37.piano lesson, so what we ard trying to work out is a right level of

:26:38. > :26:42.support for those young people. `` shout. There was always been an

:26:43. > :27:00.issue about the standard of coaching but the FA insist that is changing.

:27:01. > :27:03.What we're Coaching badges, it is extreme the money they are charging

:27:04. > :27:06.for grassroots volunteers, we're being priced out and we need

:27:07. > :27:10.coaches. More qualified coaches It is a ten`year journey and I believe

:27:11. > :27:13.we are well on the way to ddlivering a world`class coaching systdm and I

:27:14. > :27:17.feel within ten years we will be seeing the fruits of that l`bour.

:27:18. > :27:20.While the culture of the gr`ssroots game may be changing, there is still

:27:21. > :27:23.one huge cloud on the horizon ` funding. With council cuts `nd even

:27:24. > :27:28.Sport England cutting its fhnancial support, amateur clubs need to know

:27:29. > :27:32.who is going to help them strvive. We have to get the Premier League,

:27:33. > :27:35.the Football League, we havd to get the Government and councils,

:27:36. > :27:41.everyone who is responsible for grassroots football and can improve

:27:42. > :27:46.around the table and we need them now. I guess it's the computer

:27:47. > :27:52.generation. We have run out of time. You were on the sofa one ye`r ago,

:27:53. > :27:56.what has been the differencd? There has been a lot of hard work from the

:27:57. > :28:00.staff and players, the playdrs deserve a lot of credit, thdy have

:28:01. > :28:04.embraced what we have asked them to do, they are a fantastic bunch to

:28:05. > :28:09.work with and they are learning from us as well. Good position to be in

:28:10. > :28:13.and hopefully we can finish the season in a real positive m`nner and

:28:14. > :28:16.give the press and support something to cheer about and get back into the

:28:17. > :28:20.Championship, where we want to be. Good luck. Well, that's it for this

:28:21. > :28:23.week. Many thanks to Simon for joining me. We're back next Monday

:28:24. > :28:26.with a very special look at Wigan's FA Cup semifinal. You may rdmember

:28:27. > :28:30.last week the Burnley managdr volunteered Keith Treacy and Ross

:28:31. > :28:34.Wallace to take part in One On One. Well, that is being filmed very

:28:35. > :28:37.shortly and you will see it on Late Kick Off next Monday. Until then,

:28:38. > :28:57.from all the team and Simon, goodnight.
