:00:06. > :00:16.Good to see you, chaps. Thank you for having it. Always best to start
:00:16. > :00:26.
:00:26. > :00:31.with a handshake, isn't it? Welcome Portsmouth announced their
:00:31. > :00:39.intention to go into administration. A special report.
:00:39. > :00:44.X marks the spot. All the goals from all the gains.
:00:44. > :00:50.And hands up who wants to waive the handshake could buy? You give us
:00:50. > :00:52.your verdict. -- goodbye. And we have the story of how one family's
:00:52. > :00:55.lottery windfall saved Torquay. Which is what Portsmouth need in
:00:55. > :00:58.their sorry plight. And it's why Carl Faulds is here in the studio.
:00:58. > :01:01.Carl's a bankruptcy expert who has followed the Portsmouth saga
:01:01. > :01:04.throughout. He will tell us exactly what it means with the news this
:01:04. > :01:07.evening that Portsmouth are applying to go into administration.
:01:07. > :01:17.$$NEWLINE, First I've been looking at how Pompey have got in to this
:01:17. > :01:23.position again. In 20th October 10, Chainrai became
:01:23. > :01:26.a confessed owner of Portsmouth. He had loaned the club 70 million a
:01:26. > :01:29.year before and he had taken Fratton Park as security on the
:01:29. > :01:34.loan. Protecting the investment was his
:01:34. > :01:41.priority, but I asked him at the time if he was the right owner.
:01:41. > :01:47.Have the right man? No, no, no. I'm just the man running the club right
:01:47. > :01:54.now. We're going to find the right man. The club is back on its feet.
:01:54. > :02:01.Icy light and I see a lot of hope. -- I see light.
:02:01. > :02:06.Chainrai found new owners. The company agreed to buy the club in
:02:06. > :02:11.the summer of 2011. Pompey was their first for a into football
:02:11. > :02:16.ownership. They were backed by a Russian who passed the Football
:02:16. > :02:22.League's owners and directors test, but his business had been subject
:02:22. > :02:25.to scrutiny by the Financial Services Authority. He had also
:02:25. > :02:30.been accused of money laundering. He has always denied the
:02:30. > :02:34.allegations. In the only television interview he conducted as chairman,
:02:34. > :02:43.I asked him about these matters and he mounted a stern defence of his
:02:43. > :02:48.activities. With the passing of the tests, we
:02:48. > :02:57.then had difficulties. We had a dialogue with the authorities. I
:02:57. > :03:02.have never seemed a more restrictive -- never seen a more
:03:02. > :03:07.restrictive regulator. But just weeks after this interview,
:03:07. > :03:13.the bank was placed into administration. He was accused of
:03:13. > :03:19.asset stripping. He was arrested and remains on bail pending
:03:19. > :03:24.extradition hearings. But he protests his innocence.
:03:24. > :03:30.Portsmouth's ultimate owner was soon placed in administration. It
:03:30. > :03:36.also at -- emerged that Chainrai still had security on Fratton Park.
:03:36. > :03:41.He was still owed his 17 million. Anybody wanting to buy the club
:03:41. > :03:46.would have to address his debt and indeed deal with former owner
:03:46. > :03:52.Gaydamak, who owns the land around the ground. With wages unpaid and's
:03:52. > :03:55.in crisis so soon after their 2010 administration, even the Prime
:03:55. > :04:00.Minister was asked to comment. Will the Prime Minister and his
:04:00. > :04:06.voice to mind in calling for HM RC to meet with the club so it could
:04:06. > :04:10.the taxes it is owed, that our clubs advise and that the fans have
:04:10. > :04:15.the chance to become its owners? I will certainly do that and she is
:04:15. > :04:18.right to raise the issue. Knowing one or two Pompey fans, I can
:04:18. > :04:23.understand that the possibility of them supporting Southampton his
:04:23. > :04:30.incredible. Once again, matters were brought to
:04:30. > :04:35.a head by a winding-up petition. The perennial crisis club is back
:04:35. > :04:40.on familiar ground. Let's get Carl's thoughts. Nearer
:04:40. > :04:44.to safety or nearer to going bust? My personal view is nearer to
:04:44. > :04:52.safety, mainly because the administrators' parity is going to
:04:52. > :04:55.be to sell the club and keep it as a going concern. I think the
:04:55. > :05:01.administration has got to be the right thing.
:05:01. > :05:08.You are on the creditors committee. You are representing people like
:05:08. > :05:12.forests, taxi-drivers, people running small sons. Also, there's
:05:12. > :05:16.large creditors. What does it mean for the likes of Chainrai?
:05:16. > :05:21.Chainrai has got security over the clubs are he will be paid first.
:05:21. > :05:27.The other creditors are unsecured. They will be at the back of the
:05:27. > :05:33.pile. It does not come down to who is going to pay enough money to
:05:33. > :05:39.clear not just Mr Chainrai... There's going to be a lot of money
:05:39. > :05:43.lost the second time around. There's a feeling that it is down
:05:43. > :05:49.to Mr Chainrai. Is he still in the box?
:05:49. > :05:56.Yes, he has priority. He gets paid first. If there's no buyer, he may
:05:56. > :06:01.have to take a shortfall. Let's take the role of a -- and
:06:01. > :06:08.administrator. Who are they working for? The people who are owed money?
:06:08. > :06:12.Or are they just recouping money for the taxman? The administrator's
:06:12. > :06:15.job is to get the best value for the business. In that case it is
:06:15. > :06:20.going to be Mr Chainrai first, but then the other creditors come into
:06:20. > :06:27.the frame. He has got to get the best price.
:06:27. > :06:32.A last point - we have not seen a club of Portsmouth's size go bust.
:06:32. > :06:37.Board would be the ramifications? It would be a shock wave.
:06:37. > :06:42.Portsmouth is the biggest club in this situation for some time. It
:06:42. > :06:48.depends on whether there's another buyout of there. It is all about
:06:48. > :06:52.the big money now in football. Thank you for talking to us and
:06:52. > :06:55.explaining all that. Meanwhile there is something to
:06:55. > :07:05.cheer on the pitch for Pompey fans - a hard-earned point at Blackpool.
:07:05. > :07:15.
:07:15. > :07:24.shot. -- picked his shot. They may be down and out financially, but
:07:24. > :07:28.that was a million dollars. Is it Matthew Phillips? He has bent
:07:28. > :07:32.Is it Matthew Phillips? He has bent it in. It is Blackpool one,
:07:32. > :07:41.Portsmouth one. Leroy and Murts are with me. Pompey
:07:41. > :07:47.are staring at a 10-point deduction. It is not something they have seen
:07:47. > :07:52.before. The players have trouble with a smaller squad, but they have
:07:52. > :07:58.shown good spirit. In a relegation fight now, though,
:07:59. > :08:04.Leroy? Certainly. The manager has handled it superbly. He has got the
:08:04. > :08:11.best out of the players. Can we keep the players motivated?
:08:11. > :08:16.They have not been paid for ages. A lot of that comes from within. It
:08:16. > :08:21.is going to be difficult. There's lots of games coming up. He is
:08:21. > :08:28.going to have to rotate the squad. Spirit, together this - that is
:08:28. > :08:31.what you need now. Portsmouth hoping against hope that
:08:31. > :08:34.a very kind benefactor appears from somewhere, which is just what
:08:34. > :08:37.happened at Torquay not so long ago. Because, still to come:
:08:37. > :08:40.The best seats in the house. How the Gulls plan to remember lottery
:08:40. > :08:45.winner and club saviour Paul Bristow after his untimely death.
:08:45. > :08:48.And loads more action from all the leagues.
:08:48. > :08:58.So let's begin our look back at the weekend's action. Graeme and Leroy,
:08:58. > :09:08.
:09:08. > :09:11.since mid-January. A very accomplished finish. We have
:09:11. > :09:21.seen is a few times and we still cannot understand what the
:09:21. > :09:28.
:09:29. > :09:38.substitute, people used to say, make a name for yourself. I didn't,
:09:39. > :09:50.
:09:50. > :09:58.but he did. Leeds equalised but were left ecstatic.
:09:58. > :10:08.Reading have nine wins out of the last 12 league games. That was a
:10:08. > :10:15.
:10:15. > :10:23.great way to celebrate a new Bristol City. They were two down in
:10:24. > :10:33.the first quarter of an hour. It was all over after an hour. Hull
:10:34. > :10:34.
:10:34. > :10:36.Southampton keep up the pressure on Southampton keep up the pressure on
:10:36. > :10:39.West Ham and could go top if they beat them tomorrow. Reading and
:10:39. > :10:42.Brighton are neck and neck, just a point outside the play-offs.
:10:42. > :10:52.At the bottom, Bristol City are edging closer to the drop zone and
:10:52. > :10:54.
:10:54. > :11:01.Let's talk about Bristol City. A defeat for them. Tough?
:11:01. > :11:07.They went down without a fight. They will be disappointed with the
:11:07. > :11:14.three goals. They have not scored in five out of the last six games.
:11:14. > :11:20.They just need to find some spirit from somewhere. Against Hull, they
:11:20. > :11:24.were not good enough. Southampton are almost on a roll.
:11:24. > :11:31.They have promotion in their sights. A good time to go on a run, isn't
:11:31. > :11:41.it? They have brought in Billy shop. We will give him the goal. -- B
:11:41. > :11:46.
:11:46. > :11:55.Is this his goal? I would give it to the keeper, to be honest! He
:11:55. > :12:01.meant it. All strikers claim them. Some great stuff from the Reading
:12:01. > :12:06.keeper at the weekend. This save is world class. How he
:12:06. > :12:10.gets a hand on that to get it over the bar, I don't know. We should
:12:10. > :12:18.raise about him because he is a topknot keeper for start exciting
:12:18. > :12:23.times for Reading fans. -- top notch keeper. Exciting times
:12:23. > :12:30.for Reading fans. Right now be raised for League Two

:12:35. > :12:40.and their progress was marked at the weekend. Martin Ling got his
:12:40. > :12:50.hands on the Manager of the Month award. On the field they made it

:12:53. > :12:57.Two fantastic goals. It was about one of -- about time one of my
:12:57. > :13:04.free-kicks when Tim. Fair play to the lads. Hopefully this is the
:13:04. > :13:08.start of our season. It was a tough game last week so for them to
:13:08. > :13:18.bounce back in the way they have his credit to the players. A good
:13:18. > :13:21.
:13:21. > :13:24.Nigel Pearson, smiling. Midlands attention was on the bottom of the
:13:24. > :13:34.championship where Nottingham Forest and Coventry urgently needed

:14:05. > :14:08.There was a sombre mood at the The fans know that, the players
:14:08. > :14:12.know that and the manager know that. They have to work within the budget
:14:12. > :14:17.and get on with it. With that attitude, you can achieve anything.
:14:17. > :14:22.We are not finished. Later on, we will remember Torquay's saviour but
:14:22. > :14:27.right now let's catch up with the lead to action. He will start with
:14:27. > :14:35.another improving team, Bristol Rovers.
:14:35. > :14:45.Another win for Bristol. Rovers enjoyed a good bit of good fortune
:14:45. > :14:52.
:14:52. > :14:58.I'm sure he has had his leg pulled before but never his arm. If you
:14:58. > :15:01.want a penalties taken, the only man to step up and put it away is
:15:01. > :15:06.Scott McGleish. Emphatic! Morecambe did come on and getting a
:15:06. > :15:12.goal. Only a consolation relief. And what about the effect of having
:15:12. > :15:16.a new manager? Great stuff for Bristol Rovers.
:15:16. > :15:21.Lots of games postponed in League Two. Cheltenham started off at
:15:21. > :15:26.Hereford knowing a point would get them back to the top.
:15:26. > :15:32.They came from behind against Hereford. Only two defeats in the

:15:36. > :15:40.At the top, set themselves -- beaten Gillingham this evening to
:15:40. > :15:45.go above Cheltenham but only on goal difference. Torquay, Crawley
:15:45. > :15:52.and Swindon not only separated by three points. Oxford are seven.
:15:52. > :15:57.Things are looking a lot better for Bristol Rovers. Mark McGhee is
:15:57. > :16:04.having a good impact. You've got to give credit to shorn of north as
:16:04. > :16:08.well. The Rovers' supporters are delighted that quarter experienced
:16:08. > :16:16.manager. I said this was a big game for them. If they win this game,
:16:17. > :16:21.they can start looking up and that is the case now. If they keep
:16:21. > :16:28.playing with this resilience, I don't see why not. When you give
:16:28. > :16:31.Mark McGhee bread-and-butter jobs.... He has proved successful.
:16:31. > :16:40.He brings solidity and experience. The players have responded
:16:40. > :16:44.magnificently. In his gloves of time now. Extra
:16:44. > :16:48.time. Each week we debate a topic against the clock. Last week it was
:16:48. > :16:53.the rights and wrongs of players play acting to get the opposition
:16:53. > :16:59.sent off. It got you going on Twitter and Facebook. Nathan has
:16:59. > :17:04.treated, he agrees with James on simulation. It is not right to see
:17:04. > :17:12.justice perverted by Defra. says it is giving a bad message to
:17:12. > :17:17.young players to tell your employers to die. John said anybody
:17:17. > :17:23.caught diving or play acting should be bound for four matches. On our
:17:23. > :17:26.Facebook Page, James says, plays -- players can get in trouble for a
:17:27. > :17:32.really bad tackles of the Football League to do -- should do the same
:17:32. > :17:38.to those who died. Steve says he is amazed that you
:17:38. > :17:47.are backing the cheats. QC managers blame the referee for dyes. Pot,
:17:47. > :17:56.cattle and black come to mind. Harvey says, is all part of
:17:56. > :18:02.football now. Shoot them all, I say. This week, the topic is the hand
:18:02. > :18:06.shake. Before every game, Kiefer, who run the world football, make it
:18:06. > :18:16.compulsory for teams to shake hands. All power teamster is but in the
:18:16. > :18:20.
:18:20. > :18:27.Premier League it has caused so much problem this week. 90 seconds
:18:27. > :18:37.on the clock. Is it symbolism gone mad? Is it fair play celebrated? Of
:18:37. > :18:42.Fifa or meddling? Who is about to make the best case? I hated it as a
:18:42. > :18:46.player. A understand the symbolism and trying to make respect a big
:18:46. > :18:50.thing but I want to get out onto the pitch and get on with it. I'm
:18:50. > :18:54.not to respect your or anyone but to win the game. That's the key
:18:54. > :18:58.thing. I'm for fish handshake. It's about showing respect for the game
:18:58. > :19:04.and showing respect that it is a game and people are watching to see
:19:04. > :19:08.that everybody is going to play in the right spirit. As professionals,
:19:08. > :19:18.you get on and you do it in the right way. Wouldn't they do it
:19:18. > :19:19.
:19:19. > :19:23.after what? I agree. The referees are playing... We are trying to
:19:23. > :19:33.educate young players. We needed to teach them to win and lose with
:19:33. > :19:34.
:19:34. > :19:39.dignity. It is important you do it before the game. You have the mass
:19:39. > :19:42.Scots in your hand and you show that respect is important. It's a
:19:42. > :19:48.global game and everybody has watch a. It could be just a gimmick
:19:48. > :19:58.before the game. Wouldn't we let teams express themselves further.
:19:58. > :20:00.
:20:00. > :20:10.They could do a new Zealand All Blacks hacker. That says we want
:20:10. > :20:11.
:20:11. > :20:14.war. That is the final whistle. Well done, good debate. I'm not
:20:14. > :20:19.sure he won that well. The debate continues. A small moment of
:20:19. > :20:29.history as we celebrated a double first. Exeter fans enjoy it. Here
:20:29. > :20:30.
:20:30. > :20:36.hard for promotion and they took the lead against Exeter. They
:20:36. > :20:40.struck back really well. The great heart and not a little quality. A
:20:40. > :20:49.fantastic free kick by Billy Jones. David Noble took to it because he
:20:49. > :20:53.did it from even further out with more quality. Bournemouth were on
:20:53. > :20:58.the road at Hartlepool and not a good pitch for them but it didn't
:20:58. > :21:03.bother them a match. Away from home and just one defeat in the last 13
:21:03. > :21:08.it now. Looking good for the play- offs. It highlighted before Wigan's
:21:08. > :21:13.main problem, their defensive record. They have let in 38 goals
:21:13. > :21:23.this season. They have only one clean sheet in their last 21 league
:21:23. > :21:23.
:21:23. > :21:28.matches. Fierce shot would deflect wide if you had any luck and not
:21:28. > :21:38.into your top right-hand corner. Keep going, guys. A tough breaker
:21:38. > :21:49.
:21:49. > :21:54.for Wycombe Wanderers. Let's look A great result for Exeter but on
:21:54. > :21:58.Bournemouth, such an active month, January, brought some big players
:21:58. > :22:02.in. Spending money and seaming that they are moving on. They are the
:22:02. > :22:07.dark horses. People think spending money is a positive but it also
:22:07. > :22:12.adds pressure to the club. All the eyes on a warm Baumber. That got to
:22:12. > :22:18.deal with that. There is an excellent young manager there who
:22:18. > :22:25.has grown into the job. Anybody who is looking at that is thinking we
:22:25. > :22:28.do not want to get Bournemouth. Hartley Paul's pictures not good.
:22:28. > :22:32.Neil Cooper said he was delighted to get a draw. He thought
:22:32. > :22:40.Bournemouth were strong. Exeter, what a result for them at the
:22:40. > :22:44.weekend. Two wonderful free kicks, some social. This one is absolutely
:22:44. > :22:47.brilliant. He has worked at a cross and the keeper thinks it's going
:22:47. > :22:52.wide but that is wonderful technique. The whip and the power
:22:52. > :22:56.he got on it... If they were talking about Ronaldo or really,
:22:56. > :23:06.that would be on for goal of the month. He has always been a quality
:23:06. > :23:06.
:23:06. > :23:16.player. Top class. Wycombe and Yeovil side by side at the bottom.
:23:16. > :23:16.
:23:16. > :23:20.Prognosis? Wycombe have not so long were bottom-of-the-table. They are
:23:20. > :23:23.going to be inconsistent. Courage Johnson has gone in there now.
:23:23. > :23:28.Although it got to do is finish in the places they are in it now. I'm
:23:28. > :23:33.not going to try and pull the wool over people's eyes. They are doing
:23:33. > :23:39.well when they are. You know what tomorrow is, for a Super Tuesday of
:23:39. > :23:43.football. We have got some big games. Let's look at the
:23:44. > :23:53.championship. What is going to be happening on Valentine's Day? A a
:23:54. > :23:55.
:23:55. > :24:05.Millwall, derby against Reading, Portsmouth against Ipswich and West
:24:05. > :24:08.

:24:18. > :24:21.
:24:21. > :24:27.the league form the majority of the months. It's swings and roundabouts.
:24:27. > :24:30.It going to be a cracking game. The supporters should enjoy it. Two
:24:30. > :24:39.really good football clubs. And sure they will get under tender on
:24:39. > :24:48.It's going to be entertaining. Nigel will go there and want to
:24:48. > :24:52.play. 7-are going to go there and try and win the game. --
:24:52. > :24:57.Southampton. Brighton's former since the beginning of the year,
:24:57. > :25:04.unbeaten. Another one to watch coming up on the rails. They play
:25:04. > :25:08.lovely football. There are moving forward and are looking more
:25:09. > :25:18.resilient, more steely and they have a little bit of luck as well.
:25:19. > :25:24.
:25:24. > :25:28.Wycombe against Yeovil is a massive game. This isn't about the three
:25:28. > :25:33.points, it's about who comes out with confidence. You've got to win
:25:33. > :25:42.your home games. In it lead to, I particularly like the encounter
