:00:10. > :00:20.The teams are sweating. I and sweating. Are you sweating? Welcome

:00:20. > :00:26.

:00:26. > :00:34.Can Hull's Egyptian owners take them to the top of the football

:00:34. > :00:40.pyramid? They take the weather with them. A stormy quiz. And stay in

:00:40. > :00:44.meteorological, what about the red missed at Valley Parade?

:00:44. > :00:49.With me tonight, two men who did not mind when it got feisty on the

:00:49. > :00:53.football pitch, Brian Laws and Dean Windass. Dean, welcome back on

:00:53. > :00:57.board. We cannot have the back without asking what you have been

:00:57. > :01:01.up to. We know you have had your problems with depression, you have

:01:01. > :01:08.been at the Sporting Chance Clinic. How was that and how are you?

:01:08. > :01:13.fine, glad to be back working. It went really well. I am glad that I

:01:13. > :01:19.did it, that I came out and has been honest with myself, more than

:01:19. > :01:23.anything. Now I am looking forward to the future. You are looking well.

:01:23. > :01:31.How hard was it to admit you were struggling? Very hard. Tough for a

:01:31. > :01:37.number of years. You put that wall up and you try to get on but when

:01:37. > :01:41.you go home behind those closed doors... It was tough. So to tell

:01:41. > :01:45.people that you have got problems was the hardest thing that I have

:01:45. > :01:49.ever had to do in my career but it was the best thing I have ever done.

:01:49. > :01:55.We will be chatting more later. You will be able to see that on the BBC

:01:55. > :02:00.football website from tomorrow. We crack on with Dean's beloved Hull,

:02:00. > :02:06.which sometimes gets a bad press nationwide, but the Tigers'

:02:06. > :02:09.chairman will not have a bad word said about his adopted city. Assem

:02:09. > :02:13.Allam has been busy he's become one of the area's biggest

:02:13. > :02:18.philanthropist. We have been to meet him.

:02:18. > :02:23.When a Hull faced liquidation in 2010, there was genuine fear that's

:02:23. > :02:26.over 100 years of history would be white. But in the greatest hour of

:02:26. > :02:31.need, one man came in from the shadows to say the Tigers from

:02:31. > :02:36.extinction. By day, Assem Allam was a highly successful business and

:02:36. > :02:40.since taking over he has ploughed much of his own fortune into

:02:40. > :02:44.restoring the club, but why would this Egyptian-born tycoon want to

:02:44. > :02:49.invest his hard earned cash into a football club on the brink of

:02:49. > :02:54.collapse? It was the beginning of 2010. I started to read about the

:02:54. > :02:58.club in difficulty, and there was a question about them going into

:02:58. > :03:02.administration. The Look North understands that representatives of

:03:02. > :03:06.Hull City has been meeting the Premier League today to try to

:03:06. > :03:16.resolve their ongoing financial difficulties. I followed the news

:03:16. > :03:20.

:03:20. > :03:25.and immediately I realised that Hull is for the community. For it

:03:25. > :03:29.to lose Hull City was a major thing for the community. I know how

:03:29. > :03:33.difficult it would be if the club is allowed to go under

:03:33. > :03:36.administration. It would take years to recover. Assem Allam joins a

:03:37. > :03:40.growing number of overseas businessmen to buy into English

:03:40. > :03:45.football. But despite the Brevett registration plate and the vast

:03:45. > :03:50.sums of wealth, this club owner holes to the city of coal closer to

:03:50. > :03:53.his heart then you may think. He was forced to flee his native Egypt

:03:54. > :03:59.in the 1960s to escape the country's I let dictatorship, and

:03:59. > :04:04.he has been here ever since. Why did he end up in Hull, of all

:04:04. > :04:11.places? It is not because I caught the wrong train! My sister was

:04:11. > :04:18.living in Hull. Her sister it was - - her husband was a doctor at

:04:18. > :04:22.Castle Hill Hospital and that is where I came here. I did a

:04:22. > :04:25.postgraduate study and have stayed since. He is honest enough to admit

:04:25. > :04:29.he had little knowledge of the football industry when he became

:04:29. > :04:33.chairman, but now he has settled in, he is grasping the challenge with

:04:33. > :04:39.both hands. This is very interesting. It is a new thing for

:04:39. > :04:45.me. I could have bought a good Premier League club for the money

:04:45. > :04:51.but I wanted to avoid further decline, so I put enough money to

:04:51. > :04:58.make sure at least if we were not promoted, we were staying in the

:04:58. > :05:03.Championship, in the top half. I am pleased to say we have achieved

:05:03. > :05:08.that. Nothing pleases me more than when I come here on a match day and

:05:08. > :05:14.look at how many, 40,000, people are happy, having a nice time out.

:05:14. > :05:20.But also something to do something -- but also to do something for my

:05:20. > :05:25.local community in East Yorkshire. The best thing in my mind, as an ex

:05:25. > :05:29.sportsman myself, an ex squash player, I believed sport is the

:05:29. > :05:33.most powerful tool to connect communities. Away from the North

:05:33. > :05:37.East, the country of his birth is never far from his thoughts and

:05:37. > :05:41.went football supporters were tragically killed in riots at an

:05:42. > :05:46.Egyptian football match in February, Assem Allam thought it only right

:05:46. > :05:50.to offer his support. I a break to the chairman of the club offering

:05:51. > :05:55.to come here and pay the expense of the team, troubling and

:05:55. > :06:00.accommodation, to play a friendly match, with all the income to the

:06:00. > :06:07.benefit of the families of the dead. People who lost their lives. Back

:06:07. > :06:17.on the pitch, Assem Allam is all too aware of the need -- of the

:06:17. > :06:18.

:06:18. > :06:22.needed for the club to be in England's top flight. People ask

:06:22. > :06:25.where I debased, I say Hull City. He is at the start of next season

:06:26. > :06:33.you find yourself in the Championship, does that change

:06:33. > :06:38.anything? Now, we will try again. And he may just have to try again,

:06:39. > :06:47.as Hull up are slumping and and are out of the Championship play-off

:06:47. > :06:57.positions. Saturday's last two Portsmouth was another defeat. --

:06:57. > :07:02.Los to Portsmouth. That is football. It happens.

:07:02. > :07:07.He seems like a thoroughly nice bloke. Every club wants one of him?

:07:07. > :07:12.He is a manager's dream. That is fantastic to listen to the guide

:07:12. > :07:15.talks so openly about his ambitions, and he seems as though he is not

:07:15. > :07:19.bothered as long as the club be saved and he wants it for the fans,

:07:19. > :07:23.but I think a man who has been so successful, as he has, there is no

:07:23. > :07:31.way that he will be going to the club thinking, I will just leave it.

:07:31. > :07:35.He will be going there with ambition as well. It looks like he

:07:35. > :07:42.will be very patient. Have vital but the back he came in when he

:07:42. > :07:49.did? The one thing about it, people come in and put their money in and

:07:49. > :07:57.he actually did. -- how vital was it that he came in when he did?

:07:57. > :08:07.Hull's promotion challenge is fading, and it was a Barton weekend

:08:07. > :08:15.

:08:15. > :08:22.for all of our Championship clubs. Tigers' promotion hopes were dashed.

:08:22. > :08:27.The performance reflected a side who have now only won once in the

:08:27. > :08:31.last few games. Against all reason, Leeds have kept

:08:31. > :08:35.their own promotion hopes alive in April but this last to what that

:08:35. > :08:45.means just about every result will have to go United's way to make the

:08:45. > :08:48.

:08:48. > :08:51.top six. Chris Iwelumo scored twice, once in either half.

:08:51. > :08:55.Barnsley are all but mathematically safe from relegation but they are

:08:55. > :09:00.finishing the season with a bit of a whimper. For Ipswich extended

:09:00. > :09:05.their unbeaten home run to our chair matches. The season cannot

:09:05. > :09:12.finish great enough. Doncaster played on Friday night

:09:12. > :09:21.against Birmingham City. Freddie bit yet's header opened the scoring.

:09:21. > :09:25.-- Frederick peaky and. But a superb long-range jet from Chris

:09:25. > :09:30.Burke. And then a cool finish from Marlon King ensured Rovers were

:09:30. > :09:40.well beaten on the night. Now any perfect form from here ran in will

:09:40. > :09:40.

:09:40. > :09:44.away from play-off contention unless they can stage a major push

:09:44. > :09:48.in the last few weeks. In the bottom half, Barnsley maybe nine

:09:48. > :09:55.points from the bottom three, but a difficult run-in to come. And

:09:55. > :09:59.Doncaster, that is looking pretty Let's carry on with a Tigers draw.

:09:59. > :10:05.Four defeats in a row. Six games to get it is that it for the play-

:10:05. > :10:10.offs? I said on Friday that it was a must-win game on Saturday against

:10:10. > :10:18.Coventry. They have not won away all season. So you expected to get

:10:18. > :10:28.a result. And then this. Liam has come in because of injuries. It was

:10:28. > :10:31.unfortunate. It was a heavy defeat. They have not won in many games are

:10:31. > :10:36.now and it is a concern for the supporters. The main objective is

:10:37. > :10:42.to get into the play-offs. If they had won on Saturday they would have

:10:42. > :10:47.been back on track. And Leeds did get beaten. What is happening at

:10:47. > :10:50.Elland Road? They have lost five of the last seven home games. When

:10:50. > :10:55.Neil Warnock took over I thought this was when they were going to

:10:55. > :10:58.kick on. Sometimes it works with new managers going in and things go

:10:58. > :11:03.really well but the games I have seen Leeds play, they have been

:11:03. > :11:08.very unfortunate. They have worked very hard. This result is probably

:11:08. > :11:12.hurting card. Even after they conceded seven against Nottingham

:11:12. > :11:17.Forrest, but is probably hurt the most. So he has come out and so

:11:17. > :11:21.there is major surgery to be had. They were his words, where they?

:11:21. > :11:25.Major surgery. It has not taken him long to assess his squad and call

:11:25. > :11:29.the need for assessment. He has gone into that job with his eyes

:11:29. > :11:33.wide open. He knows that if he needs investment he will be

:11:33. > :11:37.supported with it. I can see a lot of players coming through. There

:11:37. > :11:43.will be a better at Frick for it. At the other end, Doncaster are

:11:43. > :11:47.looking doomed at the moment, unless there is a real pick-me-up

:11:47. > :11:53.in the coming weeks. Barnsley, and I'm points above the bottom three

:11:53. > :12:00.but they are getting closer to beat by the week. It's I think that if

:12:00. > :12:03.Barnsley... They need more one more win to secure their safety. It was

:12:03. > :12:07.a big job for Keith coming from Rochdale a number of beers and it

:12:07. > :12:12.is a big step up for managers like that but one more win and they

:12:12. > :12:17.should be all right. But it is West Ham on Friday, live on BBC One.

:12:17. > :12:21.Maybe not that one! The next few games are all tough. The but I

:12:21. > :12:25.think we all believe that that one win, that should ease the tension.

:12:25. > :12:31.That is what is happening at the moment, there is a bit of tension

:12:31. > :12:35.around. They just need that win as quickly as possible. The they beat

:12:35. > :12:40.West Ham on Friday that would be the perfect tonic. Coming up...

:12:40. > :12:47.Will it be sunny or cloudy for our weathermen?

:12:47. > :12:51.And why do footballers sometimes lose the plot?

:12:51. > :12:54.On to art in region fight for promotion in League 1, which looks

:12:54. > :13:04.like it will get right to the wire, but for Chesterfield, things are

:13:04. > :13:05.

:13:05. > :13:09.starting to look more than tricky. word for Wayne State's first half

:13:09. > :13:13.performance against Preston. The crisis they came was his long-range

:13:13. > :13:22.effort. The game changed when they went in front early in the second

:13:22. > :13:25.half, this rasping drive beating the rather static Preston keeper.

:13:25. > :13:29.All three points was sealed just after the hour mark.

:13:29. > :13:34.Wednesday's win in the early kick- off meant the pressure was on their

:13:34. > :13:39.promotion rivals. Sheffield United by not are at their best at

:13:39. > :13:45.Hartlepool. Evans took his penalty to score his 31st goal in the

:13:45. > :13:48.campaign. Far from united's best performance of beer at a huge three

:13:48. > :13:52.points. Huddersfield suffered a major

:13:52. > :13:58.setback, finishing second with their first loss since Simon

:13:58. > :14:02.Grayson took over as manager. All right terrier James Berrett

:14:02. > :14:07.finished of this neat passing mood. But Alan Lee rolled an inviting

:14:07. > :14:11.pass across for Lee Novak to tap in at the far post. Tarrant would have

:14:11. > :14:17.greatly taken a point but their defensive frailties were again

:14:17. > :14:20.exposed in the fifth minute of extra time.

:14:20. > :14:25.Just revealed a gates Scunthorpe was a must-win game for both sides

:14:25. > :14:30.and it was the Spireites he started the brighter. Wembley he read Craig

:14:30. > :14:33.Westcarr opened the scoring. When Jordan Robertson equalised for the

:14:33. > :14:37.Iron it was somewhat against the run of play but in the second half,

:14:37. > :14:40.it Scunthorpe moved up a gear. If Walker finished of a terrific mood

:14:40. > :14:44.to make it 2-1. Then Robertson double the advantage with his

:14:44. > :14:49.second. Andy Bartram rounded off a great afternoon for Scunthorpe and

:14:49. > :14:59.a disastrous one for Chesterfield win the game's final goal with nine

:14:59. > :15:21.

:15:21. > :15:27.I am loving this race at the top. Do you still fancy Sheffield United

:15:27. > :15:32.to go over the line in second? About one month ago, I said yes.

:15:32. > :15:40.But at the moment, it is so tight. Sheffield Wednesday are on good

:15:40. > :15:45.form, consistent and putting pressure on all the time. On

:15:45. > :15:54.Saturday, they were not at their best, did not create a lot of

:15:54. > :16:01.chances. But they got a penalty. What ever he is doing for United,

:16:01. > :16:07.Gary Madine is doing it for Sheffield United. You need

:16:07. > :16:11.goalscorers to get out of the division. It is a case of who is

:16:11. > :16:19.going to be the most consistent. But a Sheffield United are putting

:16:20. > :16:29.on the pressure. And they go to Huddersfield on Saturday. That is

:16:30. > :16:36.

:16:36. > :16:46.good to be a cracking last few games. I hope Sheffield you -- a

:16:46. > :16:47.

:16:47. > :16:53.Sheffield Wednesday do it automatically. He knows how to use

:16:53. > :16:57.his presence. He is a great character in the changing room. You

:16:57. > :17:03.need goalscorers. If you have got them, the manager has a great

:17:03. > :17:09.chance of being successful. Scunthorpe look like they will be

:17:09. > :17:11.OK. Not looking great for Chesterfield. Now, when it comes to

:17:11. > :17:14.predicting results, I thought I was the country's worst forecaster.

:17:14. > :17:24.But tonight, for head to head, amazingly we've found two who are

:17:24. > :17:31.

:17:31. > :17:35.Jon Mitchell. Paul Hudson. When there are 300 League games

:17:35. > :17:45.called off because of where bad- weather? 1963.

:17:45. > :17:46.

:17:46. > :17:56.How many Bradford City player sent off last night? 3. What is the name

:17:56. > :17:59.

:17:59. > :18:09.of Morecambe's old ground? Christie Park. What is a Bantam? A cock.

:18:09. > :18:12.

:18:12. > :18:21.What temperature is centigrade the same as Fahrenheit? -40. Would it

:18:21. > :18:31.Liverpool beat two when the Carling Cup? Cardiff. How many swallows do

:18:31. > :18:39.

:18:40. > :18:49.not make a summer? None. A one. We are going to a tie-breaker.

:18:50. > :18:50.

:18:50. > :19:00.Which is the team are currently top of the Conference? Fleetwood.

:19:00. > :19:00.

:19:00. > :19:06.Correct. Paul Hudson, you have let us all

:19:06. > :19:09.down. You will never hear the end of this. Well, as we've just heard,

:19:09. > :19:12.the most serious outcome of the Bradford brawl was the banning of

:19:12. > :19:16.three players for Saturday's huge game at Plymouth. And that's where

:19:16. > :19:17.Jade Lauriston's League Two round- Jade Lauriston's League Two round-

:19:17. > :19:23.Jade Lauriston's League Two round- Jade Lauriston's League Two round-

:19:23. > :19:30.up starts. up starts.

:19:30. > :19:40.hurt more than most. Terrible defending. The Bantams need to find

:19:40. > :19:41.

:19:41. > :19:46.some form and fast. One bright spot for Bradford was Rotherham United's

:19:47. > :19:56.win. But it is still not clear who is going to take the reins at

:19:57. > :20:10.

:20:10. > :20:20.Mid-table for Rotherham United. No news yet on a new manager. Bradford

:20:20. > :20:21.

:20:21. > :20:31.City, they have said that they will be all right. But they are edging

:20:31. > :20:31.

:20:31. > :20:41.towards the drop. They are not good enough to go down. They lost at

:20:41. > :20:42.

:20:42. > :20:50.three key players. Matt Duke is being brought back from loan. That

:20:50. > :20:55.was a sloppy free kick to give away. Big games coming up. Southend and

:20:55. > :21:01.shrews bury coming up. Massive games. But that might also inspire

:21:01. > :21:08.them. Probably the pressure is off them going into these games because

:21:08. > :21:14.of the teams they are playing against are expecting to win.

:21:14. > :21:17.Channel their energies in the right ways. We at Late Kick Off are

:21:17. > :21:19.obviously completely appalled by the fighting at the end of last

:21:19. > :21:23.week's Bradford v Crawley match. However entertaining it was to

:21:23. > :21:25.watch! Which is also why we'll be showing it again over the next few

:21:25. > :21:28.minutes. But the bigger question is this. Why do footballers just

:21:28. > :21:32.occasionally flip out? Rob Jones has been investigating.

:21:32. > :21:42.It has been the weaker Bradford City proved they were up for the

:21:42. > :21:48.

:21:48. > :21:55.It is getting ugly now. They have Those are ugly scenes at the end of

:21:55. > :22:05.the game. Five men dismissed and Bradford and Crawley charged by the

:22:05. > :22:06.

:22:06. > :22:12.FA. But what causes professional sportsmen to see the red mist?

:22:13. > :22:21.find that what you are thinking about becomes much smaller. You

:22:21. > :22:31.narrow in on the threat. When you get to the point of being angry,

:22:31. > :22:33.

:22:33. > :22:39.you focus on the target of your aggression. The guys were not

:22:39. > :22:46.thinking about what would happen, with the be fined, will be the be

:22:46. > :22:54.banned? They were in a state of heightened anger. Bradford and not

:22:54. > :23:02.the first local team to throw a punch in anger. The fists were

:23:02. > :23:12.flying. For Leeds United, it was this a ringing Seventies -- the

:23:12. > :23:17.

:23:17. > :23:27.Swinging Seventies. By Mr Brenner - - thanks to Mr Bremner. The thing

:23:27. > :23:29.

:23:29. > :23:39.to take away is that it is like a virus, the emotion is contagious.

:23:39. > :23:44.

:23:44. > :23:50.You can see one died squaring off to another. -- one guy. but the

:23:50. > :23:56.ripple effect spreads it to the entire team. You have been looking

:23:57. > :24:01.after each other during the game, and then you have to step up and

:24:01. > :24:11.express aggressive behaviour. of our local sports teams it really

:24:11. > :24:18.

:24:18. > :24:28.Football fans arrive at games these days expecting to see play acting

:24:28. > :24:30.

:24:30. > :24:35.and posturing. But ice hockey fans are expecting a right good ruckus.

:24:35. > :24:39.It might look barbaric for a lot of people, but that was not in the

:24:39. > :24:49.game at this level and further up, I think you would see a lot more

:24:49. > :24:50.

:24:50. > :24:55.injuries, a lot more penalties. They can be dangerous. It is part
