:00:08. > :00:18.Some games called off but plenty left for us to get stuck into.

:00:18. > :00:26.

:00:26. > :00:33.That's just on the field. Welcome Simon Grayson is gone but for many

:00:33. > :00:36.Leeds fans, the problems at Elland Road lie elsewhere. We have been

:00:36. > :00:43.tried to talk to the club through the supporters' trust but the club

:00:43. > :00:53.has chosen to ignore us. All the goals that beat the snow

:00:53. > :00:56.

:00:56. > :01:05.Good evening. With me tonight, a man who played on our patch for

:01:05. > :01:10.Halifax, Rotherham and Scunthorpe but is now in charge of the Iron.

:01:10. > :01:15.That is, of course, where we start. If our Twitter account is anything

:01:15. > :01:20.to go by, the decision to sack Simon Grayson as Leeds manager has

:01:20. > :01:24.got fans even more he did about the regime than the already wear.

:01:24. > :01:29.Grayson departed last week after the home thrashing by Birmingham,

:01:29. > :01:33.but significantly, it was the day after that as the window shut. Rob

:01:33. > :01:36.Jones has been following the Follett.

:01:37. > :01:41.The protests are not going to go away. The fans are not on board

:01:41. > :01:46.with the chairman. He likes the idea people been up against him. He

:01:46. > :01:52.will not least because of that. Meads have sacked manager Simon

:01:52. > :01:56.Grayson and his coaching staff... In a statement issued by needs

:01:56. > :02:06.united, the Chief Executive said a new management team would be better

:02:06. > :02:09.

:02:09. > :02:14.place to get more out of the A midweek repeat, the departure of

:02:14. > :02:20.the manager and the sale of yet another key player brings them are

:02:20. > :02:24.manning of discontent at Leeds United to become more laudable.

:02:24. > :02:28.Nine months ago, they finished just outside the play-off places but

:02:28. > :02:33.looked to have a squad capable of resuming the challenge. Since then,

:02:33. > :02:38.at that team has been somewhat dismantled. Still plenty of quality

:02:38. > :02:43.but there promotion race is far from run and the chance their

:02:43. > :02:48.policy has come under scrutiny. fact of the matter is they seem to

:02:48. > :02:54.have sold the quality. Johnny Howson as a captain, home-grown

:02:54. > :02:57.young talent. OK, it is maybe a great piece of business and may be

:02:57. > :03:04.a wonderful deal in terms of what it achieves for the club

:03:04. > :03:09.financially. I am concerned that if you do not start investing on the

:03:09. > :03:15.pitch, rather than in a wonderful stand which I am sure his great,

:03:15. > :03:18.because that stand will not win as trophies? On the final day of the

:03:18. > :03:24.transfer window, what hope does Simon Grayson have of replacing

:03:24. > :03:26.that team? Grayson went down an increasingly

:03:26. > :03:32.well travel don't do it in search of replacements for has departed

:03:32. > :03:38.stars. The former manager's hands may have been tied but our short-

:03:38. > :03:44.term solutions hampering long-term development? Simon himself has

:03:44. > :03:47.Brotton over 30 of them. They are good young players but, in my eyes,

:03:47. > :03:55.there are still kids and still learning the game. They do not know

:03:55. > :03:58.what pressure is all about. I have watched a few kids playing it and

:03:58. > :04:04.they disappear from the game. Defeat from high-flying Birmingham

:04:04. > :04:08.last week proved the final nail in Grayson's coffin. His departure has

:04:08. > :04:14.sparked speculation as to who will follow him. Whoever it is has much

:04:14. > :04:20.to ponder. What challenges will the new manager face? Bringing a smile

:04:20. > :04:25.back to the club. They're quite a few factions within the club at the

:04:25. > :04:30.moment who are disenchanted, really. He has to get them back on board.

:04:30. > :04:34.Needs United is the name of the club and that is what it needs.

:04:34. > :04:37.Neil Warnock has emerged as an early favourite to takeover.

:04:37. > :04:41.Despite his obvious Sheffield connections, he seems to be a

:04:41. > :04:48.popular candidate. I think we need a proven manager who has a record

:04:49. > :04:52.of getting teams out of trouble. I would like Neil Warnock. I think he

:04:52. > :04:57.has a proven track record of getting teams up from the

:04:57. > :05:03.championship to the Premiership. He would be my choice. Kale Robinson

:05:03. > :05:07.and Lee Clark. There are probably other similar ilk to Simon Grayson,

:05:07. > :05:13.young managers coming up. They do not have the experience of sending

:05:13. > :05:21.teams up and Neil Warnock has done that. He is the obvious one to get

:05:21. > :05:25.teams promoted and then do you get someone to replace him? Neil

:05:25. > :05:30.Warnock's departure from Queens Park Rangers was tinged with

:05:30. > :05:38.acrimony. He did not agree with the club's owner on the team's unfair

:05:38. > :05:43.policy. Perhaps that is too close to home? Neil Warnock will upset

:05:43. > :05:46.the fans and the players but he tries to get things done. I do not

:05:46. > :05:54.know what if of relation he had with the people there but they got

:05:54. > :05:58.rid of him. Perhaps they had had enough of him, I do not know. I

:05:58. > :06:01.think he will come in and do a job and not a lot of people will like

:06:01. > :06:06.the way he does it, but he has done it so many times and knows all

:06:06. > :06:10.about it. The Leeds United's supporters trust will hold a

:06:10. > :06:14.peaceful protest ahead of Saturday's game against Brighton.

:06:14. > :06:19.They insist that is not an anti- Ken Bates March. The supporters

:06:19. > :06:26.have always said it is a group for change. Not an anti- Ken Bates

:06:26. > :06:31.grip? Not at all. Can those two facets go hand in hand? Can the

:06:31. > :06:36.club changed with the current owner still in place? I think it is

:06:36. > :06:40.important to notice that change it does not mean get Ken Bates out. We

:06:40. > :06:46.have tried for two years' to speak to the club as a supporters' trust.

:06:46. > :06:51.The club has ignored us, that is fine. We're not anti- Ken Bates. We

:06:51. > :06:56.are campaigning for change and that is change in the way the cop shows

:06:56. > :07:04.ambition. We will work with anyone as an owner of Leeds United who

:07:04. > :07:08.shares her ambitions. Ken Bates is almost incidental to that ambition.

:07:08. > :07:15.Ken Bates has been asked to listen. If he doesn't, the club's

:07:15. > :07:18.supporters full hit a little louder. Thought-provoking stuff. We will

:07:18. > :07:25.get on to who's next than a minute but first of all, your thoughts and

:07:25. > :07:28.Simon Grayson's exit. He did a fantastic job. Every year, you

:07:28. > :07:32.trying progress of the club. He got promotion and seventh place last

:07:32. > :07:35.year but this year he seemed to hit a brick wall. The writing was on

:07:35. > :07:41.the wall when the chairman came out with his programme notes and said

:07:41. > :07:46.he had to improve on last year. To be fair, the performances at home

:07:46. > :07:49.this year have been average at best. The first hour that Birmingham was

:07:49. > :07:53.ironically it possibly the best they have played this year. As a

:07:53. > :07:58.current manager, you have sympathy with anyone who loses his job like

:07:58. > :08:02.that? I was surprised more than anything when I heard the news

:08:02. > :08:05.about Simon, but he is a quality manager. He has done a great job

:08:05. > :08:10.that needs under the same at Blackburn. I am sure he will find

:08:10. > :08:15.employment pretty soon. The timing seems to have upset fans as much as

:08:15. > :08:20.anything. The day after the transfer windows shut and transfers

:08:21. > :08:26.a part of the problem. In the 37 months he has been there, there has

:08:26. > :08:30.been over 30 loans. The new guy who is in charge, he will not be able

:08:30. > :08:35.to wheel and deal for sup it will be emergency loans until next month.

:08:35. > :08:39.Who will it be? Billy Davies right up there. The fans are saying the

:08:39. > :08:46.warm-up but I get the feeling it is at its black and not a very fine

:08:46. > :08:49.will be keen. A lot of supporters will want a big name. A record in

:08:49. > :08:53.the championship, and they do not think there is anyone better than

:08:53. > :09:00.Neil Warnock. He is an obvious choice but whether they will get it,

:09:00. > :09:04.another thing. Another name, Neil Redfearn. That was the first of

:09:04. > :09:08.five games against teams and a law position. Personally, I would say

:09:09. > :09:14.to him, taking to the end of the season and get him a goal. The

:09:14. > :09:19.players want him, he is very popular there, and if not, Billy

:09:19. > :09:25.Davies is a popular candidate. could be a key factor, the fact

:09:25. > :09:31.there is nothing to pay! The phenomenon of the caretaker-manager,

:09:31. > :09:34.who always seems to give an instant lift. The players know him already

:09:34. > :09:38.in know the play is working the club and there is a pauper among

:09:38. > :09:42.them. The players do not want change straightaway. They want to

:09:42. > :09:48.settle down and get on with what has happened and play football. It

:09:48. > :09:52.usually works out pretty well initially. Neil Redfearn has been a

:09:52. > :10:00.manager before, and results will probably dictate, but hopefully he

:10:00. > :10:08.has a good go at it. He has come it -- the top scorer has come out in

:10:08. > :10:12.public to say that. With Neil Redfearn in charge, let

:10:12. > :10:17.starter championship story at Ashton Gate.

:10:17. > :10:18.With Neil Redfearn caretaker managing, they were under huge

:10:18. > :10:25.managing, they were under huge pressure from the opening 40

:10:25. > :10:30.minutes. First, Robert Snodgrass scored his 11th of the season with

:10:30. > :10:35.the first serious attack. Moments later, a straight red card for a

:10:35. > :10:40.professional foul after bringing down McCormack. The home side were

:10:40. > :10:47.reduced to nine men when winger Yannick Bolasie was booked twice.

:10:47. > :10:51.After numerous chances, needs scored in the 79th minute with a

:10:51. > :10:57.second goal. An excellent one was completed when Luciano Becchio

:10:57. > :11:05.scored in injury time. Our only other championship game to

:11:05. > :11:11.survive was Barnsley at what words. By the end, at the wish it hadn't.

:11:11. > :11:16.And acrobatically hooked in short early on. The same after 68 minutes,

:11:16. > :11:21.making it 2-0 to Watford. With five minutes remaining, Scotgold man

:11:21. > :11:30.pulled a goal back. Barnsley through the proverbial kitchen sink

:11:30. > :11:35.to try to rescue a point but it was The championship table and Hull

:11:35. > :11:40.have brought out of the top of the table due to not playing. In the

:11:40. > :11:46.bottom half, Barnsley dropped two on Saturday. Doncaster five points

:11:46. > :11:52.from safety. No game for Hull for Doncaster.

:11:52. > :11:56.We'll talk leads in Doncaster later. First, our Barnsley correspondent.

:11:56. > :12:00.The same conversation again, up- and-down, up-and-down. They had a

:12:00. > :12:04.fantastic victory against Derby last week and by all accounts they

:12:04. > :12:09.were magnificent in the first half. A great first half performance and

:12:09. > :12:11.an average second half. They are very inconsistent and I'm sure the

:12:11. > :12:21.manager will be scratching his head, not knowing what he has to get from

:12:21. > :12:22.

:12:22. > :12:28.He was a Rochdale where I was at Bury. You can be sure their game to

:12:28. > :12:34.play good football. They had something like 75% possession in

:12:34. > :12:43.the first half. He will do a great job there.

:12:43. > :12:48.Greycoat, after ten minutes, he said he was bored. -- great quite.

:12:48. > :12:57.Coming up, two of the biggest brains in the squad get quizzical.

:12:57. > :13:02.Behind the scenes at Doncaster, with the Willie Mackay revolution.

:13:02. > :13:04.It is now time to see Scunthorpe do their stuff, but their game a bit

:13:04. > :13:11.their stuff, but their game a bit the dust. Three sides were in

:13:11. > :13:19.action. To undersoil heating meant that the

:13:19. > :13:25.clash at MK Dons was never any danger. Jamie McCombe headed in the

:13:25. > :13:30.grass. The equaliser came just after an hour. With the clock

:13:30. > :13:40.running down, Jack Hunt almost grabbed the winner. The draw means

:13:40. > :13:50.Huddersfield dropped to third. interest in Leeds United? Exactly

:13:50. > :13:50.

:13:50. > :13:57.the same as yesterday. There has been no contact. From your point of

:13:57. > :14:03.view? I am manager this football club, unless told otherwise. Still

:14:03. > :14:10.totally committed to Huddersfield Town? I am totally committed. I'm

:14:11. > :14:20.very on us, and genuine. I work extremely hard at what I do. He

:14:20. > :14:26.will get 100% from May, and total commitment. -- you will get.

:14:26. > :14:35.Sheffield Wednesday 1 by the odd goal against Yeovil. Jonathan Obika

:14:35. > :14:43.scored the opener. Germaine Johnson produce a top quality moment. The

:14:43. > :14:50.winner came in the 80th minute, Clinton Morrison brought a save,

:14:51. > :15:00.the Reda Johnson score the winner. It looked like being a horrendous

:15:01. > :15:01.

:15:01. > :15:11.as -- result. It was important. Chesterfield took the lead any 16

:15:11. > :15:11.

:15:11. > :15:18.minutes, brittle but scoring -- Drew Talbot scoring. It was Ben

:15:18. > :15:26.Parker, making a home debut, who headed them level. Chesterfield

:15:27. > :15:36.away by a share the points thanks to NATO will error by James Hurst.

:15:36. > :15:40.-- a terrible error. No game for Sheffield United. At

:15:40. > :15:47.the other end, Chesterfield are back at the bottom. Three points

:15:47. > :15:52.back at the bottom. Three points from safety Rochdale.

:15:52. > :16:02.You didn't like that league table. Let's start at the top. Lee Clark

:16:02. > :16:04.

:16:04. > :16:13.was giving it straight. There was talk of Leeds. He is damned if he

:16:13. > :16:16.does stand of the doesn't. --, damned if he doesn't.

:16:16. > :16:22.You have to come back to say what you are feeling. He is fully

:16:22. > :16:27.committed to Huddersfield. He has done a great job, they are the top

:16:27. > :16:36.the league. As it stands, he has had a store manager. He probably

:16:36. > :16:43.was in a great mood at dropping two points. -- wasn't a great mood.

:16:43. > :16:47.Germaine Johnson has been catching the eye. He was flying. It is his

:16:47. > :16:57.third goal in four league games. He has got us all. That was great

:16:57. > :16:58.

:16:58. > :17:04.skill. This was against your mob! This was an absolute scream her.

:17:04. > :17:09.That is worth the entrance money alone.

:17:09. > :17:13.Allen, your job, your team. If a frustrating call off. You have some

:17:13. > :17:19.big games coming up. A it is a big month or us.

:17:19. > :17:23.We are getting the squad back together. We had 21 training today.

:17:23. > :17:29.20 can play in the first team, that is the first time. We are looking

:17:29. > :17:35.for Dillard. There are a lot of teams around us. -- we are looking

:17:35. > :17:44.forward to it. Sheffield Wednesday have a big

:17:44. > :17:54.fixture. Blackpool at home. The winners go to Everton.

:17:54. > :18:00.

:18:00. > :18:08.We are putting to Scunny -- two Scunny lads to the test.

:18:08. > :18:15.Your one-minute starts now. What was the old ground called?

:18:15. > :18:25.Goldstone Ground. What was the only Scunthorpe player to win the

:18:25. > :18:31.Ashes?? Ian Botham. He will be carried SPL champions? Rangers.

:18:32. > :18:41.not Scunthorpe after the Cup last season? Everton. There is the

:18:42. > :18:44.

:18:44. > :18:53.current leading scorer in League 1? Two seconds. What are the names of

:18:53. > :19:03.Scunthorpe's mass cots? Scunny Bunny. Which European player via

:19:03. > :19:13.

:19:14. > :19:23.playful Scunthorpe? Kevin Keegan. - - player of year. Miliband. Which

:19:24. > :19:28.

:19:28. > :19:36.one, you're halfway there. Not surprised that Cliff one.

:19:36. > :19:41.We are going down the Mwon 18. The man behind the influx of exotic

:19:41. > :19:51.names at Doncaster is Willie Mackay. It is a remarkable experiment, but

:19:51. > :19:52.

:19:52. > :19:58.is it what the fans want. Doncaster an international football

:19:58. > :20:00.had not been often said in the same breath since the days of Kevin

:20:01. > :20:05.Keegan, that Baxter the adverts are aged Willie Mackay, there is

:20:05. > :20:15.something of a revolution beginning to take place. -- that thanks to

:20:15. > :20:22.the adverts off. He has seen a number of high-profile players come

:20:22. > :20:32.to the club. Why has Willie Mackay chosen Doncaster to try such a

:20:32. > :20:33.

:20:33. > :20:40.radical escape so experiment? approached to see if I could help

:20:40. > :20:50.the club. I thought I could do a good job to help them. I have

:20:50. > :20:52.

:20:52. > :20:57.contact with players. Here we are. I actually did it because I knew I

:20:57. > :21:06.could help I'm helping as much as I can. I think we are going in the

:21:06. > :21:16.right direction for the experiment to her have a chance it has had the

:21:16. > :21:18.

:21:18. > :21:28.managers blessing. Team picks the team. -- been. I have been working

:21:28. > :21:29.

:21:29. > :21:35.with Willie Mackay, we have been doing really well to get these

:21:35. > :21:41.players in. They have come in for next to nothing. It is not just

:21:41. > :21:48.Doncaster Rovers who is doing it. It is just that I'm trying to do it

:21:48. > :21:52.in such a way that we are playing 2,000 a week. Pascal Chimbonda has

:21:52. > :21:56.played in the Premier League bomb many years, and only last season El

:21:57. > :22:05.Hadj Diouf was playing up front of 50,000 supporters, so is the

:22:05. > :22:14.championship they come down? -- a comedown? You play a tough game

:22:14. > :22:20.every week. Everyone wants to fight, and to get promoted into the

:22:20. > :22:26.Premiership. I do think the championship is a better level than

:22:26. > :22:34.the Scottish League, because after Celtic and Rangers most of the

:22:34. > :22:37.games is like Sunday morning League. We Willie Mackay a ride that they

:22:37. > :22:44.were rooted to the bottom of the championship, and many supporters

:22:44. > :22:54.were sceptical about his project. Passport just then the -- asked

:22:54. > :23:13.

:23:13. > :23:20.board a few months, and the As far the supporters are concerned,

:23:20. > :23:25.we are fully behind this project, he is here to help. Some fans think

:23:25. > :23:31.it is not a good thing, but in their opinion the jury is still out.

:23:31. > :23:38.If it is a success then he will be applauded. The it is no secret that

:23:38. > :23:48.they have received some negative headlines, but he is adamant that

:23:48. > :23:54.

:23:54. > :23:59.his reputation remains intact. can get bad publicity, that is

:23:59. > :24:07.unwarranted, I had sued many newspapers. He's keen to stress

:24:07. > :24:14.that it is not just the first team that is benefiting. The young

:24:14. > :24:24.players are training with the first team, they are learning new

:24:24. > :24:25.

:24:25. > :24:35.techniques. They are really impressed with the players. It is a

:24:35. > :24:43.

:24:43. > :24:46.good move for everybody bought -- a good move by anybody. I can ask

:24:46. > :24:53.some football team to tell me three names, but everybody knows El Hadji

:24:53. > :24:57.do. Everybody knows about me. If only he believed in himself a

:24:57. > :25:07.bit more, he would be a world- beater! Do you have reservations

:25:07. > :25:13.

:25:13. > :25:22.about this. He will not to get a -- he will not get that across the

:25:23. > :25:27.border! I have reservations about this, simply because of the word

:25:27. > :25:32.agent. We have been assured that he is not going to make money. But he

:25:32. > :25:39.must make it somewhere along the line? That is a question for him,

:25:39. > :25:44.isn't it? We cannot speculate on that. We play them behind closed

:25:44. > :25:53.doors, and some of the quality they had on the pitch was very good.

:25:53. > :26:01.have heard the word mercenary used? They are doing it at home, maybe
