:00:13. > :00:40.Hello. Semifinals Saturday at the Masters and the first of our matches

:00:41. > :00:43.featured two left-handers, both hoping to break new ground. They've

:00:44. > :00:47.both been to a Crucible final in Sheffield, but had yet to get

:00:48. > :00:55.through to snooker's biggest night in London. The world number eight,

:00:56. > :00:57.Barry Hawkins, taking on Judd Trump, whose world record-breaking exploits

:00:58. > :01:02.against Neil Robertson in the previous match made him the marginal

:01:03. > :01:05.favourite for success. Commentary comes from former Masters champion

:01:06. > :01:20.Dennis Taylor and John Parrott. DENNIS TAYLOR:

:01:21. > :01:28.Barry did win the toss and he's breaking off in this battle of the

:01:29. > :01:35.left-handers. And the big question, John, is can Judd pick up where he

:01:36. > :01:39.left off yesterday? JOHN PARROTT: Yes, that is the big

:01:40. > :01:43.question. His performance against Neil Robertson was stupendous. It's

:01:44. > :01:48.back to work again today. We were in the studio yesterday and as he was

:01:49. > :01:53.leaving, Stephen Hendry leaned over and said, "You do realise you're

:01:54. > :01:57.only half way through?" Which I thought was a brilliant comment to

:01:58. > :02:00.leave him with -- a nice comment to leave him with, to let him know it

:02:01. > :02:06.was a brilliant performance but there was still more work to do. It

:02:07. > :02:11.can be awkward when you've had a peck performance to come back next

:02:12. > :02:16.day. So we'll find out. I think Judd in one of his interviews earlier in

:02:17. > :02:20.the week said you can beat a player 6-0 and go out and lose 6-0 to the

:02:21. > :02:25.same player the next day. That's the nature of the game of snooker.

:02:26. > :02:32.That's what makes it so fascinating. Very impressive this week, Barry

:02:33. > :02:40.Hawkins. He went through a bit of a lean spell, John. Remember he lost -

:02:41. > :02:45.was it the UK he lost to Nigel Bond? He went from 5-0 in front and lost

:02:46. > :02:48.it 6-5. Took a little bit of getting over, that one. It was interesting

:02:49. > :02:53.listening to the players before they came on. All the players know how

:02:54. > :02:56.good a player Barry Hawkins is. He probably doesn't get the recognition

:02:57. > :03:01.from the public that we all think he deserves. He's a top-class

:03:02. > :03:04.match-player, very rarely plays the wrong shot and everything he does

:03:05. > :03:07.play he plays to a high standard. You've got to beat Barry Hawkins. He

:03:08. > :03:12.doesn't give you too many opportunities. I think he's a

:03:13. > :03:17.top-class match-player and also, Dennis, a very nice lad. Yeah. You

:03:18. > :03:24.heard all the players talking about him. He's a smashing fellow. Can he

:03:25. > :03:26.produce his top game? He knows he'll have to the way Judd has been

:03:27. > :03:59.playing. Good shot from Barry, that. And he's

:04:00. > :04:05.a... Well, you can see the way he's cueing across that slightly. Oh, and

:04:06. > :04:09.he's hit the blue. Foul and a miss. It does look very tight that, the

:04:10. > :04:14.shot that he's trying to play. Judd Trump 5. Sorry - Barry Hawkins 5.

:04:15. > :04:22.The nerves are getting to everyone. A very rare mistake from the most

:04:23. > :04:26.experienced referee we have! There you see him just catching the edge

:04:27. > :04:29.of the blue. So there's no red available so he'll have it put back.

:04:30. > :04:33.These are really tricky, aren't they? Because obviously you've got

:04:34. > :04:37.to get this absolutely right. Judd will help the referee as much as he

:04:38. > :04:41.can but the edge he's trying to clip here really is very fine. Just watch

:04:42. > :04:46.Judd when he plays this again. Shaun Murphy mentioned his cue action. He

:04:47. > :04:51.says he lines up across the ball and then it sits as he straightens up. I

:04:52. > :04:54.always think these situations, Dennis, it's really, really

:04:55. > :04:59.difficult, isn't it, to get the cue ball exactly right here? Yeah, he's

:05:00. > :05:04.making it worse for himself there. You don't want to take an advantage

:05:05. > :05:11.but you're absolutely right, it's so difficult to get it absolutely spot

:05:12. > :05:16.on. I know it's got to be fractions... Even bringing it up on

:05:17. > :05:20.the screen is not going to help in this instance, I think. It's only

:05:21. > :05:21.fractions we're talking about. Yeah, the players here

:05:22. > :05:25.fractions we're talking about. Yeah, as well. There's one thing Judd will

:05:26. > :05:30.not want to do is to get any advantage from this here. He'll want

:05:31. > :05:34.it to be absolutely spot on, exactly as it was. It's like an unwritten

:05:35. > :05:39.rule between the players, Dennis, isn't it? Yeah. He can obviously hit

:05:40. > :05:45.it because he wouldn't have played the shot. On we go so, if he's

:05:46. > :05:50.having... Well, he's changing his mind now. He may just decide to drop

:05:51. > :05:58.on the top red on the top cushion instead. It's too tight.

:05:59. > :06:16.Good shot. Once again, Dennis, this venue has a an absolutely packed

:06:17. > :06:21.audience today. Wonderful crowds we've had at Alexandra Palace this

:06:22. > :06:26.week. I always think this is one of the great sporting events, Saturday

:06:27. > :06:34.afternoon at the Masters. It takes me bake to David Vine here and Ted

:06:35. > :06:37.Lowe in the commentary box on Grandstand when I was a kid. I

:06:38. > :06:55.always wished I could be here playing. Brilliant occasion.

:06:56. > :07:03.APPLAUSE Judged that to perfection. Watch the

:07:04. > :07:07.cue action here. You'll see Judd, he'll be down on the shot and he'll

:07:08. > :07:11.just go slightly across this. It's just one of the straights of his

:07:12. > :07:15.particular cue action. It doesn't stop him playing well. It's just the

:07:16. > :07:26.way he does it. It is a little different. It's turning into a

:07:27. > :07:37.little bit of an awkward frame, with the black now tied up.

:07:38. > :07:47.APPLAUSE And he won't mind a bit of a safety

:07:48. > :07:51.battle here, Barry. It will help him to settle into the semifinal and

:07:52. > :07:58.keep his opponent away from the table, but he might knock this in.

:07:59. > :08:01.It comes close. Where's it going to finish? That's the question. He's

:08:02. > :08:04.going to stick it up over the middle, so the first chance falls to

:08:05. > :08:25.Barry. He's got an angle on the blue but he

:08:26. > :08:31.wouldn't be guaranteed good position on a red. He's got the pink and blue

:08:32. > :08:35.in the open. Yeah. Dennis, I think if there was a red over the pocket

:08:36. > :08:40.somewhere, he'd be playing the cannon straightaway to get the black

:08:41. > :08:49.in play but, as there isn't, he'll try and sort something else out. He

:08:50. > :08:52.got the bottom red just away from the bunch there he can play off,

:08:53. > :09:36.back up for the blue. A little bit too close for comfort,

:09:37. > :09:39.that red towards the corner there, he must have thought as he played

:09:40. > :09:49.that cannon. But it's all right. And a nice little shot with a bit of

:09:50. > :09:53.side up for the pink. And he looks comfortable. You'd expect it.

:09:54. > :09:55.side up for the pink. And he looks top-class match-player. If you reach

:09:56. > :09:58.the final of the World Championship, you can play, and you can certainly

:09:59. > :10:06.handle the situation as well. It's always nice in the opening frame to

:10:07. > :10:08.get your hand on the table. I'll tell you what is amazing

:10:09. > :10:12.get your hand on the table. I'll John - how many of the top players

:10:13. > :10:19.are left-handed. Going way back, there was only one or two players

:10:20. > :10:23.and even in this tournament alone, you've got these two players. You've

:10:24. > :10:40.I suppose you could say Ronnie got Neil Robertson, Mark Allen, Mark

:10:41. > :10:41.I suppose you could say Ronnie O'Sullivan's left-handed as well,

:10:42. > :10:55.when he wants to be! I mentioned the other night when we

:10:56. > :10:58.were in the studio, I think it was talking about Barry, saying there's

:10:59. > :11:02.an economy of effort with the cue ball. That's because his

:11:03. > :11:05.break-building is very good. He wants to keep the cue ball in

:11:06. > :11:09.towards the object ball, nice and tight. And that's the art of

:11:10. > :11:11.break-building. If you can make it look simple, then you're doing it

:11:12. > :11:42.correctly. He's got a lovely touch. Doesn't have to worry about that

:11:43. > :11:47.black now. He's got the reds nicely placed and the pink in the open.

:11:48. > :11:55.And if he could win this opening frame with one visit, it would send

:11:56. > :12:00.a message out to Judd. I mean the only ball he could leave the way he

:12:01. > :12:06.played it was the one that he attempted to pot. And on that

:12:07. > :12:10.occasion, it did finish over the middle pocket and this is the

:12:11. > :12:15.result. Yeah, they've got an interesting head to head, these two.

:12:16. > :12:22.They've only played on four occasions and it's currently 2-2. So

:12:23. > :12:26.he won't be in total awe of the talents of Judd Trump, will Barry

:12:27. > :12:30.Hawkins. He's beaten him a couple of times before and knows he can do it

:12:31. > :13:07.again. He's taken these nicely so far.

:13:08. > :13:24.So this the obvious red, then. The blue is potable in the middle also.

:13:25. > :13:32.Just dropping the pink in and got the red on the right-hand side, so

:13:33. > :13:35.that'll be next. He's taking these beautifully, Dennis, isn't he?

:13:36. > :13:40.Lovely touch. And if he can knock this in and get nicely on the pink,

:13:41. > :13:57.it will be the end of the opening frame.

:13:58. > :14:21.It looks as if we're in for another cracking match here, the way Barry

:14:22. > :14:28.has started. Just looking at the scoreboard, but he's over the line,

:14:29. > :14:35.the winning line, at the moment. That makes absolutely certain. Well,

:14:36. > :14:42.hugely impressive, this. He's visited the table with a chance and

:14:43. > :14:47.he's won the frame off it. Very impressive indeed.

:14:48. > :14:52.APPLAUSE And if Judd Trump was in any doubt

:14:53. > :15:01.about how his opponent was going to be playing today, he's just found

:15:02. > :15:19.out. Excellent. And if that red next to the black is available, we're a

:15:20. > :15:22.chance of a century break. The crowd were urging that red to

:15:23. > :16:06.keep running there. Pink's the better ball to get on to

:16:07. > :16:12.that final red. His standard this week has been absolutely stellar, it

:16:13. > :16:27.really has. These boys really are good.

:16:28. > :16:38.What a way to start a Fantastic break from Barry Hawkins!

:16:39. > :16:47.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE 103. That's the 11th century in this

:16:48. > :17:21.year's Masters. Or the 21st century, I should say. 31 is the record.

:17:22. > :17:27.It has to be said these tables are playing beautifully, this one and

:17:28. > :17:31.the tables in the practice area. I had a knock around on them. They're

:17:32. > :17:44.absolutely beautiful. What a start from Barry Hawkins!

:17:45. > :17:48.Judd Trump attempted the long pot. He didn't get it and he remained in

:17:49. > :17:52.his seat as Barry cleared the table with a magnificent break of 130. And

:17:53. > :18:12.he leads 1-0. APPLAUSE

:18:13. > :18:15.Well, not the break-off like he intended but fortunate enough to

:18:16. > :18:19.cover the red that's come up to the blue with the brown, so just into

:18:20. > :18:24.the side of the pack. Well, he's playing it off the two cushions just

:18:25. > :18:31.to guard against leaving the loose red, which is a better shot. I know

:18:32. > :18:34.one thing though, Dennis, Judd Trump must be getting fed up of watching

:18:35. > :18:37.everyone play brilliant against him, because Neil Robertson did

:18:38. > :18:42.yesterday. And it took a performance that was as good as I've seen from

:18:43. > :18:48.Judd to knock out the Australian. And as Barry started with 130, Judd

:18:49. > :18:57.must be thinking, "Is anyone ever going to miss against me?"

:18:58. > :19:03.Yeah, I thought Neil's interview afterwards was first class. He said,

:19:04. > :19:07."You've got to hold your hand up when a player plays like that."

:19:08. > :19:12.Meanwhile, he hasn't played the best of safety shots. OK, it's close to

:19:13. > :19:17.the cushion, but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't slot this

:19:18. > :19:27.one in. APPLAUSE

:19:28. > :19:35.I don't think this red to the left of the bunch is available. He's got

:19:36. > :19:40.an angle but he'd have to be very precise to hit the pink full ball.

:19:41. > :19:50.It's not the perfect angle, but he may have to attempt it. It might be

:19:51. > :19:57.OK, that. Yeah. APPLAUSE

:19:58. > :20:01.It was difficult to judge that one, John, wasn't it? Yeah. I mean that

:20:02. > :20:04.couldn't have come out any better. The only thing with that shot is

:20:05. > :20:08.sometimes you can flick the ball in the corner pocket, but the way that

:20:09. > :20:15.ran round there, you couldn't have asked for any more. In the match

:20:16. > :20:20.yesterday, Judd Trump was the one that was making all the running,

:20:21. > :20:22.wasn't he? Going two frames ahead and getting pegged back by Neil

:20:23. > :20:29.Robertson. But different today, so far. OK, he's only lost the first

:20:30. > :21:05.frame, but it was the way Barry went about it that put down his intent.

:21:06. > :21:11.He was a bit reluctant to play for the black there because he knew the

:21:12. > :21:16.bunch of reds weren't ideally placed to cannon into off the black. That's

:21:17. > :21:23.why he changed his mind and played for the blue. And I don't think he

:21:24. > :21:29.can hold for the blue this time. He would have liked to have and then

:21:30. > :21:34.gone into the pink again, but I'm not sure he can hold. Just

:21:35. > :21:38.wondering, Dennis, whether those two reds at the back of the pack as well

:21:39. > :21:42.are easily made into a plant. I don't know if he's had a look at

:21:43. > :21:48.those, Barry, but, if they're not, he'll be playing the cannon in...

:21:49. > :21:52.Well, we can see that they're not a plant into the pocket, so a nice

:21:53. > :21:58.firm stun into these. That's where you hit the ball when you play a

:21:59. > :22:00.firm stun into these. That's where stun shot. And that will do very

:22:01. > :22:06.nicely. APPLAUSE

:22:07. > :22:09.Terrific shot there. Right in the centre and you punch the

:22:10. > :22:12.Terrific shot there. Right in the played that perfectly. Yeah. Type of

:22:13. > :22:16.screw instead, you can hit the pack screw instead, you can hit the pack

:22:17. > :22:20.and bring the cue ball back towards the top cushion. So you stun it

:22:21. > :22:24.and bring the cue ball back towards with a little bit of side and bring

:22:25. > :22:25.the cue ball up the table. He couldn't have played that much

:22:26. > :22:43.better. His nickname is The Hawk, and I can

:22:44. > :22:46.tell you what, he's certainly got his eye in at the moment, that's for

:22:47. > :23:03.sure. What's impressive for me, Dennis, is

:23:04. > :23:07.his demeanour looks as cool as anything out there. Not a bit

:23:08. > :23:12.flustered. It looks like he's really enjoying the occasion. Well, as some

:23:13. > :23:17.of the players were saying, he's such a laidback character. He's a

:23:18. > :23:25.bit like - what would you say? - a mini Mark Williams? He dresses much

:23:26. > :23:47.better than Mark, that's for sure! Who doesn't?!

:23:48. > :23:55.And just talking about Mark Williams, what a performance he but

:23:56. > :23:58.in -- he put in in this year's Masters. He almost knocked out

:23:59. > :24:05.Ronnie O'Sullivan. Yeah, he's one of my favourite

:24:06. > :24:09.players to watch on the circuit, Mark. I think he's very clever, the

:24:10. > :24:15.way he plays the game. A wonderful touch and still playing at the top

:24:16. > :24:22.of the game, which is great credit to him. Meanwhile, Barry Hawkins is

:24:23. > :24:30.going about his business in a very impressive fashion here. Cannon to

:24:31. > :24:41.flick the red out just above and to the left of the black, should open a

:24:42. > :24:46.red below it. The cue ball has run away there. Didn't get the cannon.

:24:47. > :24:51.Wanted a thicker cannon than that one. Certainly not on the intended

:24:52. > :24:55.red and these are a little tricky when you get close to them and you

:24:56. > :25:02.can't see the pocket in your eyeline, so this red in the centre

:25:03. > :25:25.wants a little bit of respect. In the end, he made it look very

:25:26. > :25:35.easy, but very well judged. Is he going to take this second

:25:36. > :25:57.frame with one visit? He keeps his head in the shot,

:25:58. > :26:00.doesn't he, John? He does a lot of things right, Dennis, doesn't he? An

:26:01. > :26:05.all-round top-class player. I must confess, with the record he had here

:26:06. > :26:08.at the Masters, you'd have been hard-pressed to see him here at this

:26:09. > :26:11.stage. He's played five occasions here previously and lost in the

:26:12. > :26:17.first round every time. But after getting past his good pal, Joe

:26:18. > :26:20.Perry, he beat Mark Allen 6-2 with very good match play and Judd Trump

:26:21. > :26:27.knows he's in for a very tough afternoon here, the way his opponent

:26:28. > :26:35.is playing. He can't get better than no-miss snooker. Judd's only had a

:26:36. > :26:38.go at that long red and that's it. He's just sat in his seat the

:26:39. > :26:54.remainder of the time. Surely not. Surely he couldn't start

:26:55. > :27:28.with two centuries. A break of 140, superseding Neil

:27:29. > :27:48.Robertson's 139. Play a little cannon here and flick

:27:49. > :28:15.the other red away from the pink, just put it into play.

:28:16. > :28:22.If that red is not available he can pot this and just flick it out, but

:28:23. > :28:30.he'll want to make sure of the century.

:28:31. > :28:36.He has nudged it out. The red is blocking the way through to the

:28:37. > :28:40.blue, so the pink for his back-to-back centuries.

:28:41. > :29:02.Absolutely brilliant! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:29:03. > :29:07.This capacity audience, John, came here, they weren't sure what to

:29:08. > :29:10.expect, but I don't think they were expecting two centuries from Barry

:29:11. > :29:17.to start the match off. It's fascinating. You know, this used to

:29:18. > :29:21.be a hard game, Dennis, didn't it? He's making this table look like a

:29:22. > :29:26.pool table, Barry Hawkins, at the minute. Pockets look like they're

:29:27. > :29:32.buckets. His cue ball control has been superb. And you simply cannot

:29:33. > :29:43.play better than this to start a semifinal. Wonderful stuff. We talk

:29:44. > :29:48.about yesterday's match with Neil Robertson being in the greatest

:29:49. > :29:53.match ever in the Masters. The way this has started, who knows how this

:29:54. > :30:00.is going to finish? This could be one of the all-time great matches.

:30:01. > :30:09.Slightly overrun his position there, which is something we haven't said

:30:10. > :30:12.today. But everything has been going into

:30:13. > :30:20.the centre of the pockets. He's not touching the sides. And that tells

:30:21. > :30:26.you you're cueing well. What a shame the black didn't go in but he

:30:27. > :30:32.started with a break of 130. He's followed that up with a break of

:30:33. > :30:48.128. What snooker! And he leads Judd Trump by two frames to nil.

:30:49. > :30:53.break-off shot there. Now, this is a chance, it's a half chance, for a

:30:54. > :30:57.Judd Trump special. But he's been kept off the table. He'll get a

:30:58. > :31:06.great cheer if he can knock CHEERING

:31:07. > :31:11.And that really is top-drawer, to be able to knock that in after what

:31:12. > :31:17.he's just witnessed from his opponent, great credit.

:31:18. > :31:23.Put that camera away, please. Now, Judd, has that gone wrong? I

:31:24. > :31:28.think it has. He's going to have to pull another cracking pot out.

:31:29. > :31:32.They're all covered. This one will go into the left corner, up past the

:31:33. > :31:40.blue. Brilliant. CHEERING

:31:41. > :31:49.Not perfectly on the black, but he'll be going into the reds.

:31:50. > :31:55.It wasn't... On the black as he would have liked. But at least he

:31:56. > :32:01.hasn't left anything easy for Barry. That's one pot on, and he'd need the

:32:02. > :32:09.extension on his cue, the extension on the rest to clip it in. It's the

:32:10. > :32:12.type of shot, really, if you were just dropping it in dead weight,

:32:13. > :32:16.you'd probably pot but the fact you had to play the little screw shot to

:32:17. > :32:20.get the cannon there widened the angle for Judd. It was the first,

:32:21. > :32:25.after he knocked the long great red in, it was the first cannon he

:32:26. > :32:28.overhit and caused a problem there because they looked pretty good, the

:32:29. > :33:42.reds, till he lost position. As you can see, he's got a good

:33:43. > :33:47.angle on the blue. I saw Barry very early this morning. He was in the

:33:48. > :33:53.practice room on his own, before the other players got in. There's always

:33:54. > :33:59.player, but he was in there with Terry Griffiths, who's been helping

:34:00. > :34:02.him out and mentoring him. And if anybody knows top-class tournament

:34:03. > :34:07.snooker, it's Terry, so he'd be a big help to Barry, approaching

:34:08. > :34:14.today. Been there, seen it, done it. A great champion in his own time.

:34:15. > :34:21.Always nice to have a Terry in your corner. An interesting little shot.

:34:22. > :34:24.That's the first time I think he's played a poor positional shot. Just

:34:25. > :34:27.wanted another couple of inches there to drop on the bottom red, but

:34:28. > :34:43.he's come straight. APPLAUSE

:34:44. > :34:45.A change of plan with his position there, so he can screw straight back

:34:46. > :35:02.for these two reds instead. Can you wipe it, please? Yeah. He

:35:03. > :35:23.just looks in the zone to me, Barry Hawkins, he really does.

:35:24. > :35:32.He had the cue ball cleaned. Maybe that just took his concentration

:35:33. > :35:44.slightly away. And all of a sudden, he's missed a sitter. Yeah. I really

:35:45. > :35:51.didn't see that coming. And neither did he. A shake of his head there. I

:35:52. > :35:56.was just saying how focused he looked and he'll be as amazed as

:35:57. > :36:08.anybody that he missed that one. It always looked a little bit wide,

:36:09. > :36:12.didn't it? And so it proved. He would have loved an angle on this

:36:13. > :36:17.red to be able to pot it and opened the reds up with a pink right over

:36:18. > :36:23.the pocket, but he can't do that, as you can see. But if he could get on

:36:24. > :36:27.that red this time, there's still one available at the back of that

:36:28. > :36:32.little bunch. I mean he could cannon into them but if he's got the angle

:36:33. > :36:36.to get on that in such a way he could pot it and open the reds up.

:36:37. > :36:40.And that's what he's played. Needs to pull up a little bit. Because the

:36:41. > :36:43.pink's over the pocket, he's guaranteed to be on -- to be on it.

:36:44. > :36:52.Well judged there. Yeah, good call, Dennis. And a

:36:53. > :37:01.classic example of how to make a break, that. Just left it purposely

:37:02. > :37:07.low, potted the reds, split them up. And a great chance. But one riddled

:37:08. > :37:13.with pressure. He needs to get involved in this match, Judd. He's

:37:14. > :37:14.been frozen out for two frames. He knows his opponent's playing well.

:37:15. > :37:37.Got to score. He's just come up a little bit

:37:38. > :37:42.short, but should be OK. Going to have to play a medium-length pot.

:37:43. > :37:48.Much better if you can keep closer control.

:37:49. > :37:56.Amazing. Amazing. It was just getting the wrong side of the blue,

:37:57. > :38:01.but I still fancied him to knock that in, now. Now, that is an

:38:02. > :38:05.indication of just a little bit of movement there. Having said that,

:38:06. > :38:11.the red jumped a little as well and that didn't help, but I don't think

:38:12. > :38:16.he cued that one all that well. Oh, what a chance he's let slip there.

:38:17. > :38:20.Yeah. It's just getting the right side of the blue, isn't it? He gets

:38:21. > :38:23.on the correct side of the blue there. He keeps the cue ball much

:38:24. > :38:29.tighter and closer to the object ball. Still, like you, Dennis, I

:38:30. > :38:33.didn't think he'd miss that. Well, he's had a reprieve. Come on, Judd!

:38:34. > :38:58.Come on, Judd! So his second chance. APPLAUSE

:38:59. > :39:02.Just a couple of fairly easy balls that Barry has missed after those

:39:03. > :39:08.two centuries -- centuries. Incredible.

:39:09. > :39:13.Judd was 2-0 up against Neil Robertson, so he's done the opposite

:39:14. > :39:18.here. 2-0 down. That was a good strike there, straight on that

:39:19. > :39:24.green. He could have easily got that one wrong, but, the way he left it,

:39:25. > :39:29.he had a choice of three reds. So really, a beautiful bit of cueing

:39:30. > :39:37.there just to get that spot on. There's no excuse now why he can't

:39:38. > :39:42.take this frame. They're there. Yeah, and as we always say, you

:39:43. > :39:45.never settle until you get your first frame on the board. And he had

:39:46. > :40:33.no chance in the two opening frames. APPLAUSE

:40:34. > :40:37.Well, here's the pink that Barry missed earlier in the frame and how

:40:38. > :40:46.big a ball might that be in the context of the match? 2-0 up, had

:40:47. > :40:51.his opponent on the rack there. I think it unsettled him a little bit,

:40:52. > :41:04.because he missed a comfortable red into the right middle pocket also.

:41:05. > :41:10.APPLAUSE Well, there's a little naughty shot

:41:11. > :41:29.from Judd, as he always like to do at the end of a frame.

:41:30. > :41:40.Oh, a little touch of the wobbles, to finish off at 100 miles per hour.

:41:41. > :41:42.Well, 200 miles per hour. It's in! It's in!

:41:43. > :41:47.CHEERING That's a lovely finish. Even Barry

:41:48. > :41:52.has a big smile. Barry Hawkins never looked like missing and then all of

:41:53. > :41:57.a sudden, he misses that sitter of a pink and Judd has got his first

:41:58. > :42:33.frame on the board, but he still trails two frames to one.

:42:34. > :42:41.The Masters used to be played at the Wembley Conference Centre, fabulous

:42:42. > :42:46.venue, probably a little bit bigger than Ally Pally. People are so close

:42:47. > :42:50.to the table. Back at the conference centre, you could be far away from

:42:51. > :42:53.the table, but it held nearly 3,000 people. I remember playing in a

:42:54. > :42:57.final against Alex people. I remember playing in a

:42:58. > :43:03.2,700 people there. I'll never forget that as long as I live. It

:43:04. > :43:08.made you nervous, Dennis. You used to fall over the plants on the way

:43:09. > :43:13.back to your seat. That's right. It was a circle, wasn't it? And, as

:43:14. > :43:19.Barry just comes off the side cushion to land in the pack, on one

:43:20. > :43:23.of the earlier occasions, I was introduced and I couldn't find my

:43:24. > :43:26.way into the arena. There was a little door that used to open and I

:43:27. > :43:44.couldn't find it! Happy days, but I do think this is a

:43:45. > :44:01.wonderful venue. I really do. The MC introduced Jimmy White as

:44:02. > :44:05.Jimmy Young. Home of the infamous streaker as well. Remember that one?

:44:06. > :44:08.I was in the commentary box when she went underneath it. I was looking at

:44:09. > :44:11.the table at the time. LAUGHTER

:44:12. > :45:04.Settle down, please. Thank you. This is a little bit of trouble for

:45:05. > :45:08.him. Gonna play off the side of these. You're going to hit this very

:45:09. > :45:13.thin indeed. You can't guarantee that you're going to not contact the

:45:14. > :45:20.blue on the way past either. On the way back, I should say. Yep. There

:45:21. > :45:37.was a fair degree of difficulty in that shot.

:45:38. > :45:47.Well, you'd just call this a half chance at the moment because the

:45:48. > :45:52.pink is out of commission. I don't think the black goes into the left

:45:53. > :46:00.corner. And the two reds are tied up next to the black.

:46:01. > :46:09.If the black does pot, it will help the situation for a few shots' time.

:46:10. > :46:15.It looks as if it is available so it's not tied up. A few more shots

:46:16. > :46:23.to be played before he is able to get on to the black.

:46:24. > :46:48.I just had a quick look at it. It's a fairly tight one.

:46:49. > :46:54.Yeah, it's one of those situations that you really need to be that side

:46:55. > :46:59.of the table where Judd is to properly see whether that goes or

:47:00. > :47:01.not. Players come up from behind the pocket, but I don't think that

:47:02. > :47:05.really makes too much of a difference. You can always seem to

:47:06. > :47:08.feel as if you can make the pot go from behind the pocket. It needs to

:47:09. > :47:13.be the other side to get a good judgment on it. But if he's looking

:47:14. > :47:30.at it for this length of time, it's obviously very tight. Well, as we

:47:31. > :47:34.zoom in, it looks as if it will go. I don't think he's got an angle on

:47:35. > :47:38.the red to play for the black on this occasion, so he'll have to

:47:39. > :47:56.concentrate on the blue. That type of shot he plays so well,

:47:57. > :48:00.without really forcing it. Yeah, beautiful timing, it really is.

:48:01. > :48:03.You'd probably have to say that Barry Hawkins's positional play so

:48:04. > :48:08.far today has been a little tighter than Judd's cue ball control when he

:48:09. > :48:13.made those two breaks. It was just superb. Judd is such a good potter

:48:14. > :48:18.and so much cue power, he just seems to be able to rescue the situations

:48:19. > :48:24.when he slightly goes awry. He's still not sure about that

:48:25. > :48:25.black. He's been shaking his head, Judd, when judging whether that does

:48:26. > :48:44.go or not. Well, that's about the fourth time

:48:45. > :48:49.he's looked at that! It's still exactly the same.

:48:50. > :48:59.He's playing for it. And if he's got an angle, he can nudge the other

:49:00. > :49:05.reds away. He may not have that. No. Not on this occasion. And you've got

:49:06. > :49:17.to play it now, Judd. Amazing. In the end, we did think it

:49:18. > :49:22.was tight and in the end, he put it on to the red. Yeah. He was always

:49:23. > :49:29.looking like that, wasn't it? It was really tight. The fact that it was

:49:30. > :49:33.sort of not directly in line with that red, just slightly behind, has

:49:34. > :49:38.probably confused the issue there. No top-class professional is going

:49:39. > :49:44.to take a shot on they don't think goes, but that was extremely tight.

:49:45. > :49:55.At least he got away with it. He doesn't put Barry in.

:49:56. > :50:04.APPLAUSE Excellent safety shot. Excellent

:50:05. > :50:12.weight on the cue ball. A bit of a free shot here, a shot

:50:13. > :50:17.toing nothing. -- a shot to nothing.

:50:18. > :50:19.Brilliant pot. That'll teach him to play good safety shots! Incredible

:50:20. > :50:31.pot. Brown ball. When we call it "a shot to nothing"

:50:32. > :50:35.it's where you take a pot like this on, a difficult pot, and you know

:50:36. > :50:43.you're going to get a safety shot if you happen to miss it. But in the

:50:44. > :50:49.end, rolling up behind the brown has given him a slight advantage. He's

:50:50. > :50:54.gone twice across the table here to land on the red.

:50:55. > :51:02.He doesn't want to slip past this. Otherwise, he'll leave it up. Oh!

:51:03. > :51:06.That's a bit careless from Barry. Yeah, and the worst part as well is

:51:07. > :51:10.he's just got to drop this red in dead weight. These can be pretty

:51:11. > :51:17.difficult down the top cushion, but just dropping it in... He was left

:51:18. > :51:21.in perfect position. So you just feel as if the poemium

:51:22. > :51:25.has slightly changed in this match and I'm going to harp back on about

:51:26. > :51:30.that pink but when it was 2-0 and he was in the balls, that miss on the

:51:31. > :51:39.pink could be very crucial indeed in this match. He had his opponent on

:51:40. > :51:43.the rack, did Barry Hawkins. Yeah. Even in the best of 11, you can

:51:44. > :51:51.always pick out one shot that can turn a match, and that was the shot

:51:52. > :51:56.that John was referring to. Oh, he hasn't judged the cannon. Is he OK?

:51:57. > :52:12.Just about, I think. Yep. No problem.

:52:13. > :52:18.Yeah, Steve was talking in the studio when we went back before,

:52:19. > :52:21.saying some players are a bit more ruthless in their capacity for

:52:22. > :52:25.keeping the pressure on. Obviously, we know that, Dennis, that Steve was

:52:26. > :52:31.certainly one of those. And Stephen Hendry was another one. Great

:52:32. > :52:37.champions here. If he thought there was any weakness, or they were on

:52:38. > :52:42.top, and needed to keep you in your seat, they'd be trying as hard as

:52:43. > :52:45.anybody to do that. 2-0 became 3-0 became 4-0. That's why they were

:52:46. > :52:54.The first great champions.

:52:55. > :52:57.The first It's not straightforward, this, but

:52:58. > :53:04.he makes them look easy. Well played.

:53:05. > :53:08.APPLAUSE Yeah, there's so many players now

:53:09. > :53:12.playing so such a high standard. But, yeah, Steve Davies, if you made

:53:13. > :53:18.a mistake, you used to go and sit down and get yourself ready for the

:53:19. > :53:23.next frame. -- Steve Davis, if you made a

:53:24. > :53:26.mistake, you used to go and sit down and get yourself ready for the next

:53:27. > :53:37.frame. So he just needs another red after this black.

:53:38. > :53:41.It may be a possible plant that would secure the frame. Is it in

:53:42. > :54:05.line with the pocket? Yeah, that looks

:54:06. > :54:11.They'll be feeling much better after the two opening frames there after

:54:12. > :54:17.watching the two opening frames. That's Judd's brother. Yes, and, OK,

:54:18. > :54:20.he had a little bit of help in frame three, with Barry missing a couple

:54:21. > :54:24.of opportunities, Judd Trump. But he'll be delighted to get to the

:54:25. > :54:30.mid-session interval at 2-2. He's played very well in this frame. To

:54:31. > :54:35.be sitting in your chair for so long and seeing your opponent start with

:54:36. > :54:38.frames of 130 and 128, you'd have taken 2-2 at the interval all day

:54:39. > :54:50.long. Great response. He got a terrible kick there, which

:54:51. > :55:29.has spoiled the break. There's just a possibility he could

:55:30. > :55:32.make a century break. I don't know if he can squeeze that. It's gone to

:55:33. > :55:33.the left of the pocket. If they were touching, he might be able to

:55:34. > :55:39.squeeze the touching, he might be able to

:55:40. > :55:43.wasn't on. No century but touching, he might be able to

:55:44. > :55:48.what - Judd Trump will be absolutely delighted with that break of 58. It

:55:49. > :55:49.levelled the scores and they go to the mid-session interval at two

:55:50. > :56:46.frames all. That's amazing. Both on 85%. That

:56:47. > :56:49.tells you a story. You wouldn't have maybe had that stat for Judd a

:56:50. > :56:56.couple of seasons ago. He has changed his game slightly and for

:56:57. > :57:00.the better, it has to be said. You just can't keep potting your way to

:57:01. > :57:04.winning tournaments. You have to have a good tactical game as well

:57:05. > :57:10.and this frame is already a little awkward with two reds up the other

:57:11. > :57:28.end of the table and the safety zone now behind the black.

:57:29. > :57:33.You've always got to be careful with that shot. Sometimes you get so

:57:34. > :57:37.obsessed with getting the cue ball so tight, that the reds can flick

:57:38. > :57:42.out to the middle pocket. Whilst it looks simple, certainly on these

:57:43. > :57:45.fast cloths, the reds open very quickly.

:57:46. > :57:53.But Judd's played that pretty well. Yeah, if it there wasn't reds

:57:54. > :57:56.available, the one next to the black is available. He could go to the one

:57:57. > :58:01.in the left middle pocket and drop on the pink, but he can't risk that,

:58:02. > :58:15.because he'd put Judd right in amongst them.

:58:16. > :58:20.In the final frame against Neil Robertson, the white was in the jaws

:58:21. > :58:23.of the corner pocket and Judd knocked a red like that in and won

:58:24. > :58:44.the match with a century break. It wasn't easy, that. He had a go at

:58:45. > :58:50.it but he knew he was going to get a reasonable cue ball. There's no

:58:51. > :58:52.plants on. I think there's two there but they're not on for the right

:58:53. > :59:21.middle pocket. There were two reds on for the left

:59:22. > :59:27.side of the bunch. They're obviously not in line either. He's taking the

:59:28. > :59:30.back double on. He'll be on the black if it goes in!

:59:31. > :59:38.CHEERING Clever shot. Very clever shot. Yeah.

:59:39. > :59:43.I couldn't agree with you more. A double there but also elements of

:59:44. > :59:48.safety. Only really the red that he played he could stick up a bit. The

:59:49. > :59:52.jaw and come back he could have left it but the way he played that was

:59:53. > :59:55.very smart. He does play shots different to other people so that

:59:56. > :59:58.makes him attractive to watch and difficult to play against. I

:59:59. > :00:03.mentioned yesterday sometimes there's not a uniformity to the game

:00:04. > :00:10.when you play against Judd. It's not always like you get with other

:00:11. > :00:16.players. But it makes him very easy on the eye.

:00:17. > :00:34.He does play a lot of different shots and that one was very clever.

:00:35. > :00:42.There was a real lapse in concentration there. He was away a

:00:43. > :00:50.couple of shots ahead of himself and, well, how do you miss one that

:00:51. > :00:55.easy? It's amazing. And this game, if you don't give every shot 100%

:00:56. > :01:07.concentration, it's incredible what can be missed.

:01:08. > :01:14.I'm in a state of shock he missed that and I'm sure he must be.

:01:15. > :01:27.Because really, that was an absolute sitter.

:01:28. > :01:38.Good shot. Loads of topspin. Straight through the pack. Watch the

:01:39. > :01:42.cue ball jump here. Oh! In the old days, that could have been a foul

:01:43. > :01:47.shot, but you have to jump over an intervening ball. So you can play a

:01:48. > :01:49.pot like that and it doesn't matter if the white bounces over other

:01:50. > :01:55.balls. Yes. Still got a little bit of work

:01:56. > :01:59.to do here and obviously you'd fancy Barry to knock this black in, but

:02:00. > :02:03.the next red has to be the one that's on the top cushion, I think,

:02:04. > :02:05.unless he can manufacture something else. So good cueing required for

:02:06. > :02:24.these. Well, they're not too bad if you're

:02:25. > :02:28.just dropping them in but, if you're playing them with a bit of pace,

:02:29. > :02:59.you've got to be spot on. No problem.

:03:00. > :03:06.The cue ball came off the cushion very strange there. Watch this when

:03:07. > :03:22.it comes off. It didn't go the normal angle. It was checked up.

:03:23. > :03:29.He's pushed a left on to the near corner. He can get on to that after

:03:30. > :03:34.the pink here. Well, I say he can get on to it but

:03:35. > :03:41.has he gone far enough? There's one to the middle. I think he's OK.

:03:42. > :03:54.Plenty of room. Great chance for Barry here. And if he can punish

:03:55. > :03:56.that very bad mistake from Judd, it will give Judd something to think

:03:57. > :04:49.about. He was a bit reluctant to play a

:04:50. > :04:55.cannon there. He's got the balls nicely open and you know when you

:04:56. > :05:06.risk playing a cannon it can always go wrong. I tell you what, his heart

:05:07. > :05:08.must have been in his mouth there. He mishit that because he didn't

:05:09. > :05:13.want the cue ball going anywhere near the middle pocket there. He got

:05:14. > :05:17.a little bit lucky. That's when you needed to screw a bit more to make

:05:18. > :05:23.sure you didn't throw the angle wide.

:05:24. > :05:30.But now it's happened, it's perfect position.

:05:31. > :05:36.I position.

:05:37. > :05:40.an old Joe Davis book that said, "There's

:05:41. > :05:44.an old Joe Davis book that said, today as it always did. How did Judd

:05:45. > :05:56.Trump miss that red in the middle? Yeah. It's one of the easiest shots

:05:57. > :05:59.you could ever wish to have. And it's definitely going to cost him

:06:00. > :06:07.the frame because look at the situations of the balls here.

:06:08. > :06:16.They're perfectly placed. So the interval coming at the right time

:06:17. > :06:19.for Barry Hawkins. He made those two magnificent century breaks, went off

:06:20. > :06:24.the ball, missed an easy pink, missed a fairly comfortable red, but

:06:25. > :06:26.he's back the way he started the match, with a little help from his

:06:27. > :06:51.friend. It's one of those horrible

:06:52. > :06:54.situations, if you're Judd Trump, where you're sitting in your chair

:06:55. > :06:59.absolutely squirming at the miss you've just made. To sit and watch

:07:00. > :07:14.your opponent pot all the balls that should have been yours.

:07:15. > :07:18.too disappointed about that. That magnificent break of 74 is more than

:07:19. > :07:24.enough to magnificent break of 74 is more than

:07:25. > :07:37.Thank you. Frame six. Judd Trump to break.

:07:38. > :07:51.He's made a reasonable break-off shot. Can't really take the pot on

:07:52. > :07:54.there, because it will go straight into the pink. So, it will be just a

:07:55. > :08:13.safety shot. And not the best safety shot. Where

:08:14. > :08:14.is this red going? Hold on a minute! Crowd # --

:08:15. > :08:20.CROWD GASP I think everyone in the alley pally

:08:21. > :08:29.thought that red was going to shot A poor safety he played there. . Judd

:08:30. > :08:32.could do with knocking a few in here, just to erase that sitter that

:08:33. > :08:48.he missed in the previous frame. Played in an area there were - got

:08:49. > :08:55.an option of 2. The bottom red at the pack is available, and if he pot

:08:56. > :08:59.us this, he will certainly move some of the reds about. Yeah. Played a

:09:00. > :09:41.nice controlled shot there. APPLAUSE

:09:42. > :09:46.Just having a look to see about the loose reds. They are not a good back

:09:47. > :10:28.to go into at the That might just be OK. There is one

:10:29. > :10:34.to the right that will go. Stunned it in rather than screwing it in,

:10:35. > :10:41.because you can stick in the back of the reds, if you screw it. Oh, he

:10:42. > :10:46.let that go. That's a little lapse in concentration there. He knew he

:10:47. > :10:50.was cannoning the other red, and he's just misjudged it. This is

:10:51. > :11:00.tough. That's brilliant!

:11:01. > :11:05.APPLAUSE That is a terrific recovery! It

:11:06. > :11:10.really is! That is such a tough shot, back into a blind pocket. You

:11:11. > :11:14.can't see the pocket in your eye line.

:11:15. > :11:22.Yes, that was a terrific recovery. He would be disappointed to see his

:11:23. > :11:28.positional shot prior to that. So, that was an excellent pot.

:11:29. > :11:31.An in the of somebody who's been putting plenty of hours in the

:11:32. > :11:35.practise table. He certainly did that over the Christmas period. I

:11:36. > :11:39.believe he didn't even go home for Christmas this year, and he stayed

:11:40. > :11:46.down where he practises, put all the hours in. So he's certainly making

:11:47. > :11:52.the sake -- sacrifices. He is at the time of his career where he should

:11:53. > :12:00.be winning major championships. He's certainly paying his dues.

:12:01. > :12:10.His family live in the Bristol area. Judd used to break advertise at --

:12:11. > :12:13.practise at the snooner is the -- snooker centre and played there a

:12:14. > :12:23.few times. Just finished a little awkward, as

:12:24. > :12:28.he just - see the way Judd just looked away from the table there.

:12:29. > :12:32.He's gone a little bit too far for one red and not fit # quite -- quite

:12:33. > :12:38.far enough for the other. A fraction either way. This is still

:12:39. > :12:45.straightforward pot, but he's having to can the red, because he could do

:12:46. > :12:54.without that. Looking at the lightly more difficult pot. Only a few pots

:12:55. > :12:58.away from securing the frame. He was trying to stay on all blacks, but

:12:59. > :13:38.the main thing is to clinch the frame.

:13:39. > :13:48.He is showing his class here as, you say, in the previous frame he missed

:13:49. > :13:55.that absolute sitter of a red into the middle, and that's well out of

:13:56. > :14:21.his mind now. Winning the frame with one visit.

:14:22. > :14:29.Very impressive. I think his shot earlier in this break... We will see

:14:30. > :14:34.him knock this one. The shot he played earlier in the break to keep

:14:35. > :14:40.it going was fabulous. This was it. A really acute shot. Full-blooded.

:14:41. > :14:48.Couldn't play it any better and deserved everything he got after

:14:49. > :14:54.that. This is a great response. And this... Yet another century at this

:14:55. > :14:59.year's Masters. What a standard! APPLAUSE

:15:00. > :15:13.Superb! That is his 375th career century. The 22 and this year's

:15:14. > :15:19.Masters -- the 22nd if this year's Masters. Doesn't matter about that!

:15:20. > :15:23.APPLAUSE You can't do better than do one

:15:24. > :15:28.chance and knocking a century. A good way to draw level. It is three

:15:29. > :15:48.frames each. Not the best of break-offs from

:15:49. > :15:54.Barry. Judd, the way he put the century

:15:55. > :16:04.Barry. Judd, the way he put the at this type

:16:05. > :16:27.That is what we call a Trump special!

:16:28. > :16:51.The long pot success, 83%, which is very good indeed.

:16:52. > :16:58.Such a fantastic weapon to have in your arsenal, isn't

:16:59. > :17:03.Such a fantastic weapon to have in yourself in amongst the balls. OK.

:17:04. > :17:07.Barry's break wasn't great, but... I think it is probably something the

:17:08. > :17:15.players should work a little bit more on, the break-off shot, because

:17:16. > :17:38.it's so important these days. It is something you wouldn't

:17:39. > :17:45.This is going to be awkward. He is going to need probably an extended

:17:46. > :17:51.spider to get to this. There is so many balls to bridge over here. He

:17:52. > :17:56.took the risk there. He is a bit unlucky to finish where he has. We

:17:57. > :18:01.will just show you that. Played it well enough but unlucky to stick

:18:02. > :18:07.where it has, and, as I say, there's all those balls to bridge over. He's

:18:08. > :18:14.switching hands. Now, this will be useful, but that is just as awkward.

:18:15. > :18:20.The way they are, I am not even sure he can get near that cue ball with

:18:21. > :18:26.an extended... It's just... Very often you are bridging over - well,

:18:27. > :18:43.one, two, three, balls in a line. Very tricky to get at.

:18:44. > :18:53.Is he going to have a go with an extended spider just to see what it

:18:54. > :18:59.looks like? Or? Yep. It is worth an idea, worth a shot, isn't it? Have a

:19:00. > :19:04.go. If he can play it, he will do, but this will be interesting to see

:19:05. > :19:09.whether he can actually reach over. That is what we call the extended

:19:10. > :19:14.spider there. There is a swan neck spider also, but - I mean, this - he

:19:15. > :19:18.is quite a tall lad, Judd, so - he's smiling buzz he doesn't fancy this

:19:19. > :19:23.one little bit! LAUGHTER

:19:24. > :19:27.No, don't like that. He just wants to keep potting balls, but I think

:19:28. > :19:36.he is going to have to play the safety shot.

:19:37. > :19:47.APPLAUSE He will be disappointed he broke

:19:48. > :19:50.down a 30. He's played the correct shot there. Simply couldn't get back

:19:51. > :20:07.to the cue ball. APPLAUSE

:20:08. > :20:11.I don't know if there is two reds in line for a plant. That is what Barry

:20:12. > :20:15.is looking at. That tells me that it's on, looking at Barry's face. He

:20:16. > :20:21.might be able to make this plant. Let's have a look. Yep. I think this

:20:22. > :20:27.is virtually plum, isn't it? The one thing you have to do with this is if

:20:28. > :20:31.you know it's a certainty, is play a good positional shot off it.

:20:32. > :20:43.APPLAUSE He has the positional shot off it,

:20:44. > :20:48.and couple of shots' time he can get on the red next to the black. He

:20:49. > :20:54.might even be able to do it from here.

:20:55. > :21:02.He's OK, he's found the gap for this one, but... The first chance he

:21:03. > :21:05.gets, he will get on that red, closest to the black, and get it

:21:06. > :21:18.into play. Yep. Here we go. The plant into the

:21:19. > :21:23.corner. Nothing worse when you are standing there with your cue in your

:21:24. > :21:28.hand and you look at the table and you think, "Oh, no." "I have left

:21:29. > :21:32.the plant on." Yeah. We could see it in his face, couldn't we? He knew

:21:33. > :21:35.straightaway, Barry, that he left it on, and there could be a few more to

:21:36. > :21:56.come here. Some very quick frames indeed. We've

:21:57. > :22:01.had 11 minutes, 13 minutes, 11, 12 minutes. 2 longest -- the longest

:22:02. > :22:12.frame, believe it or not, was just over 16 minutes. Yep. Refreshing and

:22:13. > :22:17.really good to watch. Quick, fast snooker at its best. And he looks

:22:18. > :22:51.like he's got the momentum now, Judd, to turn this match around.

:22:52. > :23:02.APPLAUSE That's virtually frame ball there.

:23:03. > :23:14.Just the black to make absolutely certain. Still a possible 67 on the

:23:15. > :23:31.table, but... It is a formality here.

:23:32. > :23:49.This was the safety shot that Barry played. He thought he'd got it

:23:50. > :24:00.reasonably save, and then he walked around. Seeing that the plant was

:24:01. > :24:10.on. And... That was his last shot. In this frame.

:24:11. > :24:22.Look at that! 365 points each. Yeah. That's a pint for each day in the

:24:23. > :24:47.year! He's taking a bit of time over this.

:24:48. > :24:56.Obviously he's mad keen on clearing up or making a century. Oh. What a

:24:57. > :25:02.try that was! He got too much action on it! So, is there a double that

:25:03. > :25:05.would keep - we will show you the shot again. Look at the action on

:25:06. > :25:10.the cue ball there. He will have to pull off a fantastic double if he is

:25:11. > :25:21.give themselves a chance of that century break. A treble will do!

:25:22. > :25:26.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE That was what you call a multidouble

:25:27. > :25:31.that turned into a multitreble! Yeah. And he has the angle here to

:25:32. > :25:37.pot the black and just the flick the red out, if he wants. Oh! He's

:25:38. > :25:43.missed the cannon. But general Judd Trump can't pot this one! Hit it as

:25:44. > :25:51.hard as you can. There we go! Go on red! Get in somewhere.

:25:52. > :25:55.APPLAUSE A magnificent effort from Judd Trump

:25:56. > :26:23.and that break of 72 gets him into the lead. 4-3.

:26:24. > :26:29.Where is the red going? He almost fluked it but he got up straightaway

:26:30. > :26:31.off the shot and he might have got away with this.

:26:32. > :26:35.ANNOUNCER: Thank you! He might not be able to see the potting angle

:26:36. > :26:40.here. It is just away from the pink, so he is just OK. But Judd got up

:26:41. > :26:50.straightaway when he played the shot.

:26:51. > :26:57.Watch Judd's reaction here. He sees - straightaway he knew he hadn't

:26:58. > :27:00.made the correct contact. I don't think he had a quick. We were

:27:01. > :27:03.talking about the side. He put a little bit of side on that and

:27:04. > :27:08.bitten into the qubl and straighten up. It was one he needed a bit of

:27:09. > :27:11.left-hand side to come around the angles, and a little touch of side

:27:12. > :27:18.on it Oh!

:27:19. > :28:17.CROWD GASP He didn't cue that very well. So

:28:18. > :28:20.both players starting to feel the pressure out there. Neither of these

:28:21. > :28:25.boys have ever been to the final of the Masters. So, it is a big day for

:28:26. > :28:55.them. APPLAUSE

:28:56. > :29:01.A good pot that was, lots of pressure on it. In his practise he

:29:02. > :29:06.would fancy knocking this in, but this isn't practice. He cued that

:29:07. > :29:10.beautifully! And Judd helped earlier in the match in the third frame with

:29:11. > :29:14.Barry missing a relatively simple shot. Judd's just helped Barry

:29:15. > :29:18.Hawkins out because he must have been thinking in the air there,

:29:19. > :29:20.Hawkins out because he must have could be going 5-3 down." That was a

:29:21. > :29:34.very poor miss from Judd. Just a little bit of movement. I

:29:35. > :29:44.know sometimes he does move, Judd, Just a little bit of movement. I

:29:45. > :29:49.but you heard Shaun Murphy and our chat about the players. He was

:29:50. > :29:51.expressing how Judd just moves a little bit with his body on the

:29:52. > :30:28.shot. Shaun Murphy was the defending

:30:29. > :30:34.champion here and Mark Allen played very well to knock Shaun out 6-4. I

:30:35. > :30:40.know Shaun's an avid snooker fan. He will be watching all the snooker.

:30:41. > :30:46.. I can tell you something else - he won't be missing the reds three

:30:47. > :30:52.times on the trot again. Because he did it in that match. First time

:30:53. > :31:03.ever at the Masters. And forfeited the frame to Mark Allen.

:31:04. > :31:30.We have had some managertive indecent snooker in this match alone

:31:31. > :31:37.but it has to be said both players have missed couple of sitters. As I

:31:38. > :31:42.say, they are both under tremendous pressure going tore the first-ever

:31:43. > :31:49.Masters final. This is a lovely opportunity just a series of stuns

:31:50. > :31:53.the and screws around the Fink # -- PIN # pink. No need to be

:31:54. > :31:57.contemplating the black, the way these are positioned.

:31:58. > :32:06.27-point lead tome. -- at the moment. Didn't play the last shot

:32:07. > :32:10.well. Needed to leave an angle over the two reds. He didn't want to

:32:11. > :32:28.leave the cue ball there. Should have been more over to the right.

:32:29. > :32:35.Vis is a very big frame obviously in the context of the match but if

:32:36. > :32:36.Barry Hawkins doesn't win it from here, he will absolutely kick

:32:37. > :33:27.himself. There is this red and colour. That

:33:28. > :33:31.should see him over the line in this frame.

:33:32. > :33:42.It is anybody's game at the moment, the way it's going. Yeah. I

:33:43. > :33:49.mentioned it had 6-5 written all over it. The last time we played

:33:50. > :33:53.here in 2013 Judd won six frames to five. That was in the first round,

:33:54. > :34:14.on that occasion. I can tell you - two of the people

:34:15. > :34:18.who would love a 6-5 Ronnie O'Sullivan and Stuart Bingham. They

:34:19. > :34:21.want to see both of these two go through the mill, take as much out

:34:22. > :34:28.of themselves. APPLAUSE

:34:29. > :34:33.Might have to play another double, if he hasn't got an angle to get

:34:34. > :34:36.over to the last red. Well, he has a bit of angle here.

:34:37. > :34:41.APPLAUSE Knock this in, Barry, and give it

:34:42. > :34:47.another century. It is a tough one, though.

:34:48. > :34:54.No! Doesn't really matter that that's not going in at the moment.

:34:55. > :34:56.It is one mistake that cost him the play of the game.

:34:57. > :35:00.APPLAUSE . A magnificent break of 78 from

:35:01. > :35:03.Barry Hawkins. He had a little help from Judd, but he's all square at

:35:04. > :35:38.4-4. APPLAUSE

:35:39. > :35:46.One of those shots you could play it two ways there. But that was the

:35:47. > :35:57.aggressive way. Never thought about missing it.

:35:58. > :36:22.You can see his intention there to get on the pink in such a way that

:36:23. > :36:32.he can pot it and go into the reds, but...

:36:33. > :36:38.It has to be played with a lot of top spin here. You can see him

:36:39. > :36:48.striking the cue ball up near the top. And I was going to say he is a

:36:49. > :36:52.bit unlucky, but maybe the one next to the cue ball, he might have a

:36:53. > :36:58.slight angle to be able to pot it and get on the black. It is a bit

:36:59. > :37:10.close to it, though. It makes it slightly more difficult.

:37:11. > :37:17.The way Barry is looking at it, I don't think there is too much

:37:18. > :37:22.daughter that he is -- doubt that he is going to take it on. Once again,

:37:23. > :37:27.just has to be a little careful with the cuing here. The balls are chose

:37:28. > :37:54.together. Well played! APPLAUSE

:37:55. > :38:03.If the pic goes into the corner, it wouldn't be a bad ball to play on to

:38:04. > :38:10.bring reds into play. Yeah. Dennis, I'm surprised he hasn't had a look

:38:11. > :38:15.around there. Oh, I agree with you there. If he played a stun out and

:38:16. > :38:21.come on the pink and left it high, he could have potted that and

:38:22. > :38:33.certainly opened the reds out. It is a bit more difficult off the black.

:38:34. > :38:41.Will he do it this time? He's coming around, I think, to have a look at

:38:42. > :38:46.the pink now. Yep. Yeah. That's around, I think, to have a look at

:38:47. > :39:03.definitely the shot that will open the game up.

:39:04. > :39:10.Decided to play and leave it on the loose side. So he is going to play

:39:11. > :39:18.the little cannon into the three reds to the left of the pink.

:39:19. > :39:28.He has to be a little bit careful. He is coming near the pink spot.

:39:29. > :39:34.Couldn't have done any better! APPLAUSE

:39:35. > :39:43.Good call, Dennis, you picked the shot up!

:39:44. > :39:49.That's happened a few times, where Judd took a difficult, long pot on,

:39:50. > :39:58.which he's always going to do anyway, but he's being punished for

:39:59. > :40:05.just that one mistake. Barry's won a few frames with just the one chance.

:40:06. > :40:12.Certainly the two opening frames. 19391, 128, and then he had a 74 to

:40:13. > :40:16.go back in the lead. 78, and the last to level. Great

:40:17. > :40:24.stuff! Yes. And that straight red miss in

:40:25. > :40:28.the last frame from Judd. That has proven tore very costly -- to be

:40:29. > :40:32.very costly. Cost him the last game, but thrown the momentum back to

:40:33. > :40:34.Barry Hawkins, who looks like he is cuing like he did in the opening two

:40:35. > :40:45.frames again. He needs - too many balls to swing

:40:46. > :40:50.the momentum around. There is the red. Play all day and he wouldn't

:40:51. > :40:52.miss that in the club. But it's proven at the moment to be

:40:53. > :41:04.very costly. This is how Barry played when he got

:41:05. > :41:10.to the final of the World Championships a few seasons ago.

:41:11. > :41:15.Cuing superbly well. Yes. Championships a few seasons ago.

:41:16. > :41:19.Ronnie O'Sullivan to beat him in the final. Put

:41:20. > :41:22.Ronnie O'Sullivan to beat him in the there. Coming out for four first

:41:23. > :41:26.final and you have got arguably the best player who's ever lived in the

:41:27. > :41:35.chair. Acquitted himself very well in that.

:41:36. > :41:44.APPLAUSE Not far from the winning line in

:41:45. > :41:58.this frame. Couple of more pots will be enough.

:41:59. > :42:14.68 ahead. There is a few more to come

:42:15. > :42:22.here, APPLAUSE . Judd will have to go to the well.

:42:23. > :42:25.He is going to have to drag up concentration and focus and all his

:42:26. > :42:32.ability. There will be two frames he needs to win and he is going to have

:42:33. > :42:36.to find it from somewhere. Played brilliantly yesterday. As good as I

:42:37. > :42:39.have seen him play but he is going to have to do the same thing for the

:42:40. > :42:41.last two frames, because Barry Hawkins looks like he's back on

:42:42. > :43:32.stroke. This really is a bit special from

:43:33. > :43:36.Barry Hawkins. Yes. To be able to produce this standard on one of the

:43:37. > :43:42.biggest stages in world snooker, when it means so much to you... It

:43:43. > :43:50.is a big feather in his cap. This really is excellent stuff. And this

:43:51. > :43:58.red, just for his third century in this match alone.

:43:59. > :44:05.APPLAUSE Fabulous from Barry Hawkins!

:44:06. > :44:12.That's the 24th century in this year's Masters. He sacrificed the

:44:13. > :44:16.position and made sure of the century, but doesn't matter whether

:44:17. > :44:20.he pots the black or not. He would like to.

:44:21. > :44:25.APPLAUSE Has he got the cannon also? The cue

:44:26. > :44:32.ball might be in the middle pocket but that doesn't really matter.

:44:33. > :44:37.APPLAUSE Barry Hawkins with breaks of 78 and

:44:38. > :44:55.then that century - he now leads 5-4.

:44:56. > :44:59.APPLAUSE Wow!

:45:00. > :45:04.APPLAUSE LAUGHTER

:45:05. > :45:19.Well, the black was out of commission! What a shot!

:45:20. > :45:30.I think he was playing for the gap there. That was a bonus to knock the

:45:31. > :45:44.black over the pocket like that. But he will take it!

:45:45. > :45:53.Now, then... What a chance for Barry Hawkins. Yep. And that red that's on

:45:54. > :45:57.the left-hand side caution, that Judd's stopped there with the last

:45:58. > :46:03.shot... OK, it wasn't the best safety shot in respect of the cue

:46:04. > :46:08.ball but will that red come to his rescue? There is a lot of snookers

:46:09. > :46:12.played before then, the amount of pressure that these boys are under,

:46:13. > :46:15.you almost think they are going to clear up without thinking of the

:46:16. > :46:20.circumstances, they are that good, but with a chance to reach his first

:46:21. > :46:21.Masters final here, he will be under the pressure, don't worry about

:46:22. > :47:03.that. He's had five attempts Yan never got

:47:04. > :47:05.past the first round but he's made up for all those defeats, the way

:47:06. > :47:17.he's played this year. He does strike the ball beautifully,

:47:18. > :47:26.Barry Hawkins. Lovely to watch. Great rhythm around

:47:27. > :47:28.the table. If he can just stun up on to the pink here. Once he pots that,

:47:29. > :47:52.he should be on the bottom red. Both of those reds pot. Yes. So, he

:47:53. > :47:57.has the one difficult red, has John said. He may take the chance to try

:47:58. > :48:04.and develop that red. Oh! He's just missed it! Oh, that

:48:05. > :48:07.could have been a match-winner there, had he have got the cannon

:48:08. > :48:18.correctly. Not only did he just miss the flick

:48:19. > :48:22.on the red, his position's gone awkward. One of those he could have

:48:23. > :48:31.missed it and ended up still on the green or the brown, or any colour,

:48:32. > :48:35.but where it's finished, it Shows you the fine margins, Dennis.

:48:36. > :48:41.He gets that cannon. It could be all over.

:48:42. > :48:51.ANNOUNCER: Brown. He can get in behind the black, I think, if he

:48:52. > :48:56.judges it. They are not easy. In fact, he might

:48:57. > :49:01.even be able to see enough of the red near the pink spot to cut it in.

:49:02. > :49:08.But that last shot he tried, is to difficult to judge, but don't be

:49:09. > :49:17.surprised if this doesn't go in. APPLAUSE

:49:18. > :49:24.Fabulous shot! He has a bit of angle on the brown. Can he somehow - if

:49:25. > :49:28.anyone can get to the last red, it is Judd, but can he have enough

:49:29. > :49:34.angle to miss the green and screw become, John? I don't know. But now

:49:35. > :49:36.he's thinking why did I put that red save.

:49:37. > :49:41.LAUGHTER Funny the way the frameworks out. If

:49:42. > :49:46.he can't muster up a positional shot to free the red, why not go in

:49:47. > :49:50.behind the brown and leave them in a very difficult snooker? But if there

:49:51. > :49:54.is half a chance he can get to the red, he will take it. He might have

:49:55. > :50:02.to play a little sort of banana type shot when he screws it back. But now

:50:03. > :50:07.he's looking at going in behind the bound which wouldn't be a bad

:50:08. > :50:12.choice. Yeah, I like this shot. APPLAUSE

:50:13. > :50:18.I don't think that's the best way of playing it, though. It could have

:50:19. > :50:22.been cutting off the top cushion. Still, it gives him the opportunity

:50:23. > :50:31.to drop on this dead weight, which he wouldn't have had if he covered

:50:32. > :50:36.that off, Judd. CROWD GASP

:50:37. > :50:39.He won't mind giving a couple of penalty points away, as long as

:50:40. > :50:42.He won't mind giving a couple of drops on I it. But I'm with you,

:50:43. > :50:43.John, he she should blocked the escape route. You think

:50:44. > :50:47.John, he she should blocked the where that is, Dennis, it would have

:50:48. > :50:50.been a stinker to get out of, if he's blocked this line off, but

:50:51. > :50:54.where this is, he's just going to keep playing the same shot. The only

:50:55. > :50:56.thing is if he hits it slightly harder than he intended, he could

:50:57. > :51:04.push it over the middle pocket. It is a containing shot, but he

:51:05. > :51:18.could be in behind the pink here. It is a containing shot, but he

:51:19. > :51:21.Barry made sure he played cushion first so it took away the chance of

:51:22. > :51:29.promoting that red a little. first so it took away the chance of

:51:30. > :51:33.We haven't had many close frames first so it took away the chance of

:51:34. > :51:40.this match. It's all been about heavy duty scoring. But we've got

:51:41. > :51:44.one now. Well, it is great, I mean, to see

:51:45. > :51:49.big breaks and that, but a lot of people enjoy this just as much. It's

:51:50. > :52:00.much more tense when the frame's like this.

:52:01. > :52:18.His main concern here is to try and get that red ball save.

:52:19. > :52:23.Well, he knocked a similar pot in the

:52:24. > :52:31.Well, he knocked a similar pot in he cut one in off the pink spot.

:52:32. > :52:42.This time the red is near the brown spot.

:52:43. > :52:45.Cross gasp # -- CROWD GASP

:52:46. > :52:49.How close was that? This is far from easy. It looks to be almost

:52:50. > :52:53.straight, John. Yeah. That is what he would be looking for, looking for

:52:54. > :53:03.it to be bolt straight to make it more difficult. But I'm not so sure

:53:04. > :53:04.it is. Still a tough shot this, though.

:53:05. > :53:08.CROWD GASP though.

:53:09. > :53:12.That was far from easy. Throw in the fact of the circumstances... That

:53:13. > :53:20.red must have looked like the size of a football! Wow! Look at the

:53:21. > :53:30.expression on Barry's face there. He can get a snooker here, you know.

:53:31. > :53:47.APPLAUSE Judd's parents there, Stephen, and

:53:48. > :53:56.they will be so tense. It is worse sometimes watching.

:53:57. > :54:03.That is one of Judd's good friends there next to his parents.

:54:04. > :54:09.Yep. Follows him to all the tournaments. Biggest fan.

:54:10. > :54:13.Terrible watching. Is he going to risk swinging this

:54:14. > :54:17.around the angles to try to get in behind the - well, the green and

:54:18. > :54:22.black are in a good position. If he was to sort of even get a cannon on

:54:23. > :54:29.the brown it would be pretty good. He's hit it a bit thin. Hit it far

:54:30. > :54:34.too thin. Oh, he's made a bad mistake there. But the blue has gone

:54:35. > :54:38.into an awkward position, but that was a good chance.

:54:39. > :54:45.ANNOUNCER: Thank you. Settle down please. He hit that far too then.

:54:46. > :54:52.Yeah. Just - as you say, Dennis, just too then, trying to get it

:54:53. > :54:55.around there and - this would be - red that would be food and drink to

:54:56. > :55:07.Barry Hawkins, but this is not ordinarily. I'm not so sure the blue

:55:08. > :55:20.has gone safe. A big shot. APPLAUSE

:55:21. > :55:29.Well, he's already looking at the blue. So... Not for this shot, but

:55:30. > :55:32.he's going to need that. And if he could just get in behind it, that

:55:33. > :55:37.would be all he would need. Looking at it, it is a perfect angle, if it

:55:38. > :55:44.isn't as bad, it is perfect, the green is going to go past the brown.

:55:45. > :55:48.If he could drop the blue in... He would have a straight shot of the

:55:49. > :55:58.yellow, even though he could be a little closer to the cushion. But...

:55:59. > :56:02.Anyway, the green I was just thinking for a little bit

:56:03. > :56:07.later for blue to pink, whether that is going to be a bit more awkward,

:56:08. > :56:12.but he will come to that when he gets to it. Just looking at the

:56:13. > :56:20.score. When he pots the yellow, it will be all square, 40 points each.

:56:21. > :56:24.He is going to need the pink. So even if he gets on to that blue, I

:56:25. > :56:30.don't think he can do much with it, to get up close to the pink. So,

:56:31. > :56:38.there's a little bit of tension left in this frame.

:56:39. > :56:48.Yes. This is the big shot. If he can just knock this in and get the

:56:49. > :56:52.correct angle on the blue, just to give himself a little chance of

:56:53. > :56:56.pushing through it and getting closer, but, as I say, it's - the

:56:57. > :57:00.way he's cuing it, Dennis, it's not great, is it? He can't do much with

:57:01. > :57:03.the blue, he can only just drop it in and have a leave a very difficult

:57:04. > :57:18.pink. That's why he's tried to move it

:57:19. > :57:25.slightly. He's pretty close to the blue. It will go into the left

:57:26. > :57:37.corner, but what a shot to judge! ANNOUNCER: Settle down, please. This

:57:38. > :57:40.is so awkward! Yeah. He had a look to see if the centre pocket was in

:57:41. > :57:53.the way. A tough shot. It's there!

:57:54. > :57:57.APPLAUSE What a shot he's played there!

:57:58. > :58:03.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Unbelievable shot. Judd Trump! He

:58:04. > :58:09.thought he had a lifeline there, but what a shot. Barry Hawkins pulled

:58:10. > :58:14.that off. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:58:15. > :58:20.Unbelievable match! That is what it means to Barry Hawkins. He's made

:58:21. > :58:25.three century breaks. The two are having a chat. Reversed that result

:58:26. > :58:29.when he lost couple of years ago. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:58:30. > :58:36.He is a very popular winner. Barry Hawkins defeats Judd Trump by 6-4. A

:58:37. > :58:40.great match, boys! From 4-3 behind, Barry Hawkins won the last three

:58:41. > :58:44.frames of that match. He threw in three centuries along the way. A

:58:45. > :58:49.brilliant performance to reach his very first Masters final. We will be

:58:50. > :58:52.able to see how he does in that final from 1 o'clock BBC Two on

:58:53. > :58:56.Sunday often. Promises to be a great day. I hope that you can share it

:58:57. > :59:03.with us. In the meantime, sleep well. Good night.

:59:04. > :59:19.So, no-one pays tax here? No-one pays taxes.
