:00:34. > :00:39.Hello and welcome to Snooker Extra, extended highlights of the
:00:40. > :00:46.first-round Masters match between Trump and Fu. It's -- Judd Trump and
:00:47. > :00:49.Marco Fu. It's Judd who leads the head-to-heads but Marco will be full
:00:50. > :00:57.of confidence after a win in December. Your match commentators
:00:58. > :01:06.are Steve Davies and Dennis Taylor. DENNIS TAYLOR: Judd won the toss and
:01:07. > :01:10.it's a good break-off. If Marco can see enough of this red
:01:11. > :01:35.to the right corner, he might attempt the pot.
:01:36. > :01:46.It takes a while to get used to this table. It's very fast but looks to
:01:47. > :01:50.be playing beautifully. STEVE DAVIES: Yeah, very responsive. You
:01:51. > :01:58.don't have to hit the balls too hard to get them where you want. Oh,
:01:59. > :02:03.straightaway we might have a little bit of an awkward red with that
:02:04. > :02:04.frame up the other end of the table. Start of an early stalemate it would
:02:05. > :02:40.have to be said. Looking at the head-to-heads between
:02:41. > :02:45.these two players, Judd nine, Marco two, trying to work out if there's
:02:46. > :02:54.any reason for that other than Judd's a great player. Um, yeah,
:02:55. > :02:58.perhaps Marco doesn't fare as well against an aggressive, bully-type
:02:59. > :03:02.player? I don't know, really. I haven't got a clue. But obviously
:03:03. > :03:06.Marco's in form at the moment so that counts for a lot. Well, this
:03:07. > :03:12.will count for a lot if this goes in. This is a tough shot he's taking
:03:13. > :03:18.on here. Almost. Now, where's that red going
:03:19. > :03:22.to finish? Is the green and brown going could tomorrow to his rescue.
:03:23. > :03:26.It looks like they may have. I think he's covered both those reds.
:03:27. > :03:32.A bit of a result there. A risky red. He almost pulled it off, as you
:03:33. > :03:37.can see there, covered both those reds.
:03:38. > :03:45.And this is a very tricky cutback that Judd's taking on here.
:03:46. > :03:53.Well-played, though. APPLAUSE
:03:54. > :03:57.Well, he could have been forgiven for playing some type of containing,
:03:58. > :04:00.tactical shot there, but he really did play an aggressive shot. This is
:04:01. > :04:19.no certainty. Red at the bottom of the pack goes
:04:20. > :04:21.now though, so... I thought he was hampered by it as
:04:22. > :04:53.well. Well, that was an unexpected mix. He
:04:54. > :04:58.had to put quite a bit of power on that. He just didn't deliver the cue
:04:59. > :05:04.there. You can see a -- you can see, as smoothly as he would have liked.
:05:05. > :05:07.The cue coming off his hand there. Yeah, it's not the greatest part of
:05:08. > :05:19.his game. No problem for Judd Trump at the
:05:20. > :05:24.power game. He does get some action on the cue ball, that's for sure.
:05:25. > :05:29.That was quite a difficult shot he just pulled off there.
:05:30. > :05:37.I mean the putt wasn't all that difficult, but it's near the pocket
:05:38. > :05:54.and, you know, the cue action there to draw that cue ball back...
:05:55. > :06:00.What a fantastic shot that was, and the chance, if he wants to, to go
:06:01. > :06:09.into the pack here off the side cushion.
:06:10. > :06:14.APPLAUSE He's got everything he deserved
:06:15. > :06:25.here. Fantastic shots he's pulled out. I thought for a minute he was
:06:26. > :06:28.going to go to the far end and stay there.
:06:29. > :06:33.Well, just with that one shot, he's opened up the whole of the game
:06:34. > :06:40.here. There's a chance for Judd to knock
:06:41. > :07:39.in a sizeable contribution here. Quite a difficult thing to do,
:07:40. > :07:43.especially on a power shot, to keep everything, keep your head,
:07:44. > :07:47.perfectly still. I think Marco moves a little bit on
:07:48. > :08:02.the shot when he delivers the cue as well. It's just a mannerism.
:08:03. > :08:09.He's a pure, natural player, Judd Trump. Just a natural snooker
:08:10. > :08:15.talent. He's making light work of this,
:08:16. > :08:18.though. Great to watch. He seems to have got the pace of the
:08:19. > :08:41.table very quickly. Frame virtually over. Marco, just
:08:42. > :08:44.that one mistake - you can't afford to miss blacks off the spot. OK, he
:08:45. > :08:48.was playing it reverse side. There's Judd switching hands. He's very,
:08:49. > :08:53.very good with his opposite hand as well. Not quite in the league of
:08:54. > :09:14.Ronnie O'Sullivan, but he is very good with his opposite hand.
:09:15. > :09:20.Every chance now of making a century. It's going to be very, very
:09:21. > :09:24.difficult. But it's something he can just concentrate on now.
:09:25. > :09:44.He's made a few centuries in his career, 422.
:09:45. > :09:58.He might be able to develop the last red. He could make a century if this
:09:59. > :10:14.works out. APPLAUSE
:10:15. > :10:24.Well, what a way to punish your opponent for a basic mistake.
:10:25. > :10:30.Yeah, the highest break in this year's Dafabet Masters was made last
:10:31. > :10:39.evening by Stuart Bingham, 132, but he lost to Joe Perry 6-1. But what a
:10:40. > :10:43.start for the Juggernaut, as they call him. You know, and even though
:10:44. > :10:48.the game of snooker, you're playing against the table, not your
:10:49. > :10:52.opponent, it does seem sometimes against certain opponents you have a
:10:53. > :11:00.good record and some you don't. Perhaps Judd fancies the job today.
:11:01. > :11:09.That's century Number 10 in this year's Masters.
:11:10. > :11:15.APPLAUSE Doesn't matter about the blue. He
:11:16. > :11:18.got one chance and that was all he needed and that magnificent century
:11:19. > :11:44.break gave Judd Trump the opening frame. It's 1-0.
:11:45. > :11:48.There might just be a gap between the blue and pink to flick the reds
:11:49. > :12:00.and get back down the table. He could have left something a lot
:12:01. > :12:17.easier than this. It's a horrible situation for Marco
:12:18. > :12:21.Fu. I'm not too sure what he can do, really. Very low value trying to cut
:12:22. > :12:26.this red and I don't think he can hold for the black. He might, as
:12:27. > :12:31.long as he can get his cue down long enough, perhaps he's got a chance. I
:12:32. > :12:33.thought he was going to have to jack up in the air. He's just about done
:12:34. > :12:43.it. That would have been very difficult,
:12:44. > :13:02.had he been up in the air on that shot.
:13:03. > :14:05.We were talking about his Scottish Open win in the final against John
:14:06. > :14:10.hilliness. 4-1 down and won eight frames in a row to beat John 9-4.
:14:11. > :14:13.And John, one of the form players of the season, well, he really is a
:14:14. > :14:35.superb player, Marco. Still a couple of potential banana
:14:36. > :14:40.skins going about this break. He's had to play two reds on the top
:14:41. > :14:51.cushion. Not so much of a pocket to aim for along a cushion, obviously.
:14:52. > :14:52.He'd like to be high on this black. He doesn't really want to be
:14:53. > :15:18.straight. He's made four maximum breaks in his
:15:19. > :15:42.career, Marco. I'll never forget his first Masters
:15:43. > :15:49.in Scotland. The Scottish Open, I think it was. He won a motor car and
:15:50. > :15:54.he hadn't even got a licence. Once again, he's not greatly on this
:15:55. > :15:59.black. If he'd been further up the table on a couple of occasions, it
:16:00. > :16:04.would have helped him out no end. Now he's got to possibly play a
:16:05. > :16:08.slightly riskier shot. Got a flick on the red but it was difficult to
:16:09. > :16:13.get high on that red from that position, as you see.
:16:14. > :16:17.-- as you can see. It's difficult to get speed on the cue ball from
:16:18. > :16:19.there. He's got the red into the yellow pocket. This would now be a
:16:20. > :16:47.147 chance if this goes in. Now the crowd acknowledge this is a
:16:48. > :16:52.potential chance for a maximum with the round of applause they gave him.
:16:53. > :16:57.He doesn't have to go into the pack that quickly here.
:16:58. > :17:08.There's a few reds that, when potted, will open up paths for other
:17:09. > :17:10.reds. He's left himself a bit straight on the black on a few
:17:11. > :17:45.occasions. I think he knew immediately. Just
:17:46. > :17:50.watch his head. He knew straightaway. He was up. He knew he
:17:51. > :17:53.didn't hit that one correctly. And every chance of the counterattack
:17:54. > :18:18.now. You could see what that miss meant
:18:19. > :18:26.to Marco there. But he's left himself awkward here.
:18:27. > :18:31.It looks to be pretty straight. This is the sort of shot Marco missed in
:18:32. > :18:33.the opening frame, screwing back, reverse side - probably a little bit
:18:34. > :18:43.more difficult than that. I know it's a very responsive cloth,
:18:44. > :19:04.but he made that look very easy indeed.
:19:05. > :19:14.He's obviously cueing well. He's walking around the table, looks very
:19:15. > :19:17.focused. If that red, the bottom of the four, goes, that opens things up
:19:18. > :20:08.nicely. A bit too far? He's not... He's got the slightest of angles and
:20:09. > :20:12.the red he didn't quite get on - he's got to punch it in to get to
:20:13. > :20:13.the correct angle, which he has done, and he's played that
:20:14. > :20:34.perfectly. He's on it this time. How well did he strike that? As you
:20:35. > :20:39.mentioned a long time ago, the reds were all clearing each other, Steve,
:20:40. > :20:49.and it's proving the case. He didn't have any cannons to play. As one was
:20:50. > :20:53.potted, it left a path for another. Excellent shot to get high on that
:20:54. > :21:03.red. Doesn't need to collide with any other balls here.
:21:04. > :21:11.This could be an early turning point in this match, because Marco looked
:21:12. > :21:15.to be well on his way to taking his way, concentrating on All Blacks.
:21:16. > :21:21.Apart from that one shot he played, where he misjudged the pace, most of
:21:22. > :21:26.the time, he's been very controlled. Now he can be low on the red to go
:21:27. > :21:30.up the table for one of the Bob Hawke colours. He's a massive
:21:31. > :21:44.favourite in this frame now. A big steal.
:21:45. > :21:52.What a frame to pinch this is. He looked so good. Certainly in that
:21:53. > :22:28.opening frame, he's cueing really well.
:22:29. > :22:38.Well, what a cracking frame of snooker this second frame is turning
:22:39. > :22:42.out to be. Marco Fu on all blacks. Missed one and Judd Trump stepped in
:22:43. > :22:45.and cleared the remaining balls with that magnificent break of 87 and now
:22:46. > :23:08.he leads two frames to nil. Bit of a weak break-off from Judd
:23:09. > :23:12.Trump. Got to be a little bit careful though, Marco. He's got to
:23:13. > :23:16.pot this because there is a gap round the back of the black, but he
:23:17. > :23:30.could cannon into a red. He has to pot this, you would feel.
:23:31. > :23:34.He just missed that. You would say he's OK but with Judd Trump at the
:23:35. > :23:38.table, you're never sure. You can see the red wobble in the jaws. This
:23:39. > :23:42.one he's looking at is very, very difficult. This red is a long way up
:23:43. > :23:47.the cushion, really, to be powering it in. He had a little look at it
:23:48. > :23:54.but I think he's probably choosing the right now now, the safety.
:23:55. > :23:58.You see that movement to our left, which makes his cue go across to the
:23:59. > :24:04.left as well, across the face of the ball, amazing how that happens.
:24:05. > :24:11.Yeah, one of the great Welsh players - we'll just show you the movement
:24:12. > :24:12.to the side - but one of the great Welsh players used to move forward a
:24:13. > :24:17.little bit, Doug Mountjoy. He's Welsh players used to move forward a
:24:18. > :24:23.too well at the moment, Doug. If you're watching, get well soon. I
:24:24. > :24:26.know he likes to go to Mark Williams's club and practise every
:24:27. > :24:28.day. He's not the best at the moment. I'm sure he'll bounce
:24:29. > :25:44.straight back, knowing Doug. I'm not too sure what he was doing
:25:45. > :25:54.there. Very aggressive. Was he going for the pot? He misjudged it by some
:25:55. > :25:56.way. He hit it far too thick. Perhaps the yellow was the way
:25:57. > :26:39.forward. It would be nice if the pink doesn't
:26:40. > :26:56.spot for Marco. That's his answer.
:26:57. > :27:00.Mustn't be touching that red. When the balls are set up at the start of
:27:01. > :27:05.the match with the triangle of balls and the red at the apex of the pink,
:27:06. > :27:13.that almost mustn't be touching. Interesting, isn't it? You always
:27:14. > :27:22.are, Steve, very interesting. That was a pretty poor positional shot
:27:23. > :27:24.from Marco. He was trying to get on the blue but he left himself
:27:25. > :27:30.straight on the blue. Can he make a better job of it this time? Decides
:27:31. > :27:41.to roll through for the black. If he has angle, he might get up to
:27:42. > :27:46.a red but look at that - he's going to have to force this one in. That's
:27:47. > :27:51.the trap that no snooker player likes. Oh, he did well there.
:27:52. > :28:00.APPLAUSE We say that sometimes Marco lacks a
:28:01. > :28:04.bit of power. He got it all right there on that shot.
:28:05. > :28:06.He's given himself a chance to keep this going.
:28:07. > :28:33.Albeit with a spider. I think the thing that stands Marco
:28:34. > :28:43.in good stead and has done throughout his career - he's got a
:28:44. > :28:49.fabulous temperament. But that's a shocker he's played there. The only
:28:50. > :28:54.possible way of keeping the break going now is, as we show you the
:28:55. > :28:59.poor positional shot - in fact, the double is not even on. If he'd had a
:29:00. > :29:02.chance, he could have doubled the red and wouldn't have left anything.
:29:03. > :29:08.What has he spotted? Not a plant coming to the rescue, surely? Oh,
:29:09. > :29:13.what a bonus this is. What a bonus if this goes in.
:29:14. > :29:23.And there it is. APPLAUSE
:29:24. > :29:43.A lot lucky, really. I wouldn't have known that plant was on. Now he
:29:44. > :29:53.looks to be in a nice position to try and make amends for that last
:29:54. > :30:03.frame. Judd will be sitting in his chair a bit aggrieved, really.
:30:04. > :30:11.He's got to take full advantage now of that little bit of good fortune
:30:12. > :30:14.when suddenly the plant appeared. He doesn't want to do what he did in
:30:15. > :30:25.the previous frame. A nice little nudge with that last
:30:26. > :30:28.shot to get the pink into the action as well. He's increasing his
:30:29. > :30:41.positional possibilities. Well, you've got to fancy him in
:30:42. > :30:48.from -- him from this position, Dennis. He'd have to do something
:30:49. > :31:04.careless, or have a kick, or be unlucky.
:31:05. > :31:10.Not hanging about. Just coming up to the half-hour mark and the third
:31:11. > :31:35.frame is almost over. There you see it. 64 ahead. One more
:31:36. > :31:42.red and anything above the yellow will be enough to leave Judd needing
:31:43. > :31:46.a snooker. Just a quick glance at the scoreboard. The white ball
:31:47. > :31:52.trundled on a couple more rolls than he wanted.
:31:53. > :31:58.CROWD GASPS He had a bash at that. I don't think
:31:59. > :32:04.he needed to. It seemed like he hit that harder than he needed to. I
:32:05. > :32:08.don't... I couldn't agree more, Steve. He
:32:09. > :32:16.didn't even get enough screw on it. No wonder he was shaking his head.
:32:17. > :32:20.Is he going to pay for that mistake? It's not as easy this time. He's
:32:21. > :32:28.still a strong favourite the way the balls are situated, but the frame
:32:29. > :32:33.should have been over. Well, this would be a steal. Not so bad with
:32:34. > :32:38.these reds on the left-hand side cushion for Judd Trump being a
:32:39. > :32:55.left-hander. Obviously, Marco Fu is hoping they'll cause a problem.
:32:56. > :32:59.He's only one or two good shots away from making this a relatively easy
:33:00. > :33:13.clearance. Played for the open red there and
:33:14. > :33:19.probably going to leave himself an angle to knock that second red away.
:33:20. > :33:48.Well, every ball going into the middle of the pocket at the moment
:33:49. > :33:52.is looking very confident. And now, as long as he gets a good
:33:53. > :33:58.angle on this pink, he should be able to swing across nicely for the
:33:59. > :34:04.red in the corner, screw back for the blue.
:34:05. > :34:09.He wasn't on the pink properly. He thought he had an angle.
:34:10. > :34:27.If he can get nicely anywhere near the circle, with being a
:34:28. > :34:29.left-hander, he'd be perfect and he's got an angle on the brown to
:34:30. > :34:39.get over to that position. This looks pretty good. It looks
:34:40. > :34:50.very good. APPLAUSE
:34:51. > :34:54.Well, I said Marco Fu had a terrific temperament. If he loses this frame,
:34:55. > :34:56.what a test that will be, because he should have won this frame and he
:34:57. > :35:03.should have won the frame He's played this very nicely. That
:35:04. > :35:07.was the only thing that could have gone wrong there, that blue to
:35:08. > :35:11.yellow. I say the only thing. Other things
:35:12. > :35:15.obviously can, but the way he's cued so far, he's made very light work of
:35:16. > :35:22.this. And this is a massive steal, so much more than the last frame.
:35:23. > :35:29.He looks very comfortable on the table.
:35:30. > :35:33.There'll be one more frame before the mid-session interval. Marco's
:35:34. > :35:39.going to need that badly. He hasn't lost this one yet, but you can't see
:35:40. > :35:51.Judd making a mistake the way he's cueing. It's just straightforward.
:35:52. > :35:57.Well, knowing the significance of this frame, you could be forgiven
:35:58. > :36:16.for being a bit nervous but so far not too much nerves, a bit out of
:36:17. > :36:23.position. Just this black. Well, it's happened again.
:36:24. > :36:27.Marco Fu had a break of 64, missed a sitter of a red and had to watch
:36:28. > :36:29.Judd Trump come to the table and clear up and take the third frame.
:36:30. > :37:08.It's 3-0. I mean, it's been so fluent. Look at
:37:09. > :37:11.this - average shot time, just confirming it there, 13 seconds.
:37:12. > :37:28.There's the average frame time, just over 11 minutes.
:37:29. > :37:33.And Judd's had a century, Marco 64. Five breaks over 50 in three frames.
:37:34. > :37:58.It's not like Marco's not been at the able. Look at the pot success
:37:59. > :38:02.rate, Steve. 97%. He's got a bit of a problem here.
:38:03. > :38:10.It's a double kiss if he plays safe. What a great shot that was - a
:38:11. > :38:13.fantastic effort. In some ways, you had to sacrifice possibly running
:38:14. > :38:17.through but there's a lot of pressure on Marco Fu all of a
:38:18. > :38:29.sudden. So this red, even though on other occasions, it would be pretty
:38:30. > :38:34.guaranteed, oh, he's made light work of that. Not just potted it, but got
:38:35. > :38:40.enough of an angle on the blue that should he want, he can go into the
:38:41. > :38:44.pack right-hand side of the pink, could open them up, or there is the
:38:45. > :38:52.loose red at the bottom of the pack. His choice. He's playing for the
:38:53. > :38:56.loose one. I'm not going to start arguing with
:38:57. > :39:05.Marco. He's a winner. A lot of players would have gone straight
:39:06. > :39:10.into the pink there. But, as I mentioned earlier, he's
:39:11. > :39:18.made 435 centuries in his career, so he knows how to break-build.
:39:19. > :39:27.This is tough, going into them from here. There's another one still
:39:28. > :39:29.available, so that helps. But after this one, it's going to start
:39:30. > :39:42.getting more difficult. Yes, quite a tight pack. And whilst
:39:43. > :39:51.he couldn't have guaranteed a split from the blue, it's not a guarantee
:39:52. > :39:56.off the black either. I'd be happy to see that red come
:39:57. > :40:04.over the middle. And he'll be happy to see a little gap to cue between
:40:05. > :40:09.the reds. He's not hampered. Plenty of action on this one while it kept
:40:10. > :40:24.spinning. For a while, it looked like he was going to be in trouble.
:40:25. > :40:28.So what Marco Fu has obviously got to do is try and win this frame in
:40:29. > :40:35.this visit. Wary of the fact that Judd Trump is
:40:36. > :40:38.chomping at the bit for a counter-punch. It's nice if this red
:40:39. > :41:18.goes next to the pink. 3-1 at the mid-session interval. You
:41:19. > :41:22.know, he wouldn't feel all that bad because he knows he could quite
:41:23. > :41:28.easily have won the last two frames. I mean, he made a break of 56 and
:41:29. > :41:35.lost that, and then 64 and lost the previous frame. It's just cutting
:41:36. > :41:40.out the little mistakes that he's been making. He hasn't made many
:41:41. > :41:59.mistakes but they've just been so costly the way Judd's playing.
:42:00. > :42:24.Topspin applied and he's not hampered. He's OK.
:42:25. > :42:34.This could turn out to be an absolute cracking match.
:42:35. > :42:39.Yeah, all of that match play temperament that Marco Fu showed in
:42:40. > :42:54.coming back against John Higgins he's going to need today.
:42:55. > :43:01.He's showing an awful lot of character here, isn't he? After
:43:02. > :43:10.what's just gone before in the previous two frames. So he's been in
:43:11. > :43:15.first in - well, all three frames. APPLAUSE
:43:16. > :43:30.That's the frame safe and now he can settle down.
:43:31. > :43:35.It's going to be roughly 45 minutes for four frames. That's going some,
:43:36. > :44:32.yeah? If someone said, "How's it going,
:44:33. > :44:39.Marco?" And he said, "I made breaks of 56, 64 and a possible century,
:44:40. > :44:43.but I'm 3-1 down." Tough game. Yeah. It remains to be seen whether those
:44:44. > :44:45.two frames that Judd Trump stole will come into the equation at the
:44:46. > :44:52.end of the match. One thing is for certain, though -
:44:53. > :44:58.Marco Fu the balls. APPLAUSE
:44:59. > :45:11.He's looking every bit as fluent now.
:45:12. > :45:17.Brilliant from this man. He can't beat the highest break of the event
:45:18. > :45:41.but still nice to clear the lot. Marco playing a bit of an exhibition
:45:42. > :45:51.shot there. I can't wait for the second half of
:45:52. > :45:55.this match. Absolutely fantastic from Marco Fu.
:45:56. > :46:00.And he looks a bit pleased with himself and so he should be. That
:46:01. > :46:01.magnificent play there takes him to the mid-session interval but he
:46:02. > :46:34.trails three frames to one. So far in this match, nearly all of
:46:35. > :46:45.the unforced errors have come from Marco Fu. He's still potting nicely.
:46:46. > :46:51.APPLAUSE That brown's nicely over the pocket.
:46:52. > :47:01.Yeah, it was a poor safety shot from Judd, it has to be said.
:47:02. > :47:13.That's not the best kiss in the world.
:47:14. > :47:21.I suppose he had to play it that way.
:47:22. > :47:23.Didn't have to try and shift everything around and these are not
:47:24. > :47:47.certainties. A bit wider on the blue than he
:47:48. > :47:51.wanted, so not trusting to luck this time by going into balls. He's going
:47:52. > :47:59.to try and keep in open play. He's lost the cue ball a bit there.
:48:00. > :48:13.I'm sure he wanted to be on the one to the left of the table. Perhaps he
:48:14. > :48:17.was going for these two down the right-hand side.
:48:18. > :48:38.He'd be short of pace on those. Good recovery pot, but the wrong
:48:39. > :48:43.side of the blue. But that red to the left of the bunch is on for him,
:48:44. > :48:48.if he screws back a couple of feet. Beyond that, as you can see, is the
:48:49. > :48:55.left side of the blue line there so he has to leave
:48:56. > :49:02.Yeah. The only trouble with this is a cue ball in this break's been
:49:03. > :49:06.doing a bit more mileage than he would have wanted.
:49:07. > :49:13.Trying to get the right side of balls from distance is a bit harder
:49:14. > :49:15.than when you're close in. Once again, looks to be a bit short on
:49:16. > :49:22.the blue. A worse scenario is straight.
:49:23. > :50:05.Can he get to the black? Talked himself into playing that
:50:06. > :50:12.with a bit of right-hand spin, trying to twist the black in, very
:50:13. > :50:16.tight. Yeah, I mean trying to play that
:50:17. > :50:20.with a trace of side was very difficult. He could have rolled the
:50:21. > :50:24.blue in, you know, and left the red between the blackspot and the black
:50:25. > :50:29.there - he could have left that. It would have been a tricky pot but he
:50:30. > :50:31.was asking a little bit much to just bend it slightly to create that
:50:32. > :50:41.potting angle on the black. Not much Judd Trump could do with
:50:42. > :50:53.that shot other than get it down the table. Got the pace wrong.
:50:54. > :50:58.Marco doesn't pot it and now, Judd Trump, should he wish to, can open
:50:59. > :51:00.the reds up a bit more. You get the feeling that -- feeling that Judd
:51:01. > :51:11.only needs one chance in a frame. This looks like a good safety shot.
:51:12. > :51:15.I don't know if he's completely carried it.
:51:16. > :51:32.Marco can come down the right-hand side of
:51:33. > :51:33.be careful. This red could sneak out over the left corner.
:51:34. > :51:40.It almost went right over the corner, as you predicted, Steve. But
:51:41. > :51:43.look at the cue ball. The length on that is terrific. That is a big
:51:44. > :51:47.pocket, if he can't get through, to cut the one in that's near the
:51:48. > :51:51.pocket. The other one is a biggish pocket. But look where the cue ball
:51:52. > :51:56.is. But there's no easy safety, so he'll have to attempt. He's come up
:51:57. > :52:00.to look at exactly how this red is lying over the pocket. But you feel
:52:01. > :52:04.as if he's got a big margin of error on that red that's a bit further up.
:52:05. > :52:13.But he's playing the safety, or possibly the shot to nothing.
:52:14. > :52:15.He's got a good cue ball if it keeps running. Oh, what a shot this is!
:52:16. > :52:27.APPLAUSE That's a fascinating situation,
:52:28. > :52:30.isn't it? Perhaps the Judd Trump of old would have automatically got
:52:31. > :52:35.down and played the big pocket shot, as we would call it in the game, but
:52:36. > :52:39.Judd is showing some maturity and perhaps just waiting for a better
:52:40. > :52:43.chance, not... Panicking at the first opportunity. And he's put the
:52:44. > :52:46.pressure on Marco here. Can Marco lay on the pack? It's not much of a
:52:47. > :53:10.pack. difficult to get through to the red
:53:11. > :53:17.that is over the pocket. He is trying to see if he can come off a
:53:18. > :53:22.couple cushions but this is so tough here. It is not a bad effort if he
:53:23. > :53:27.misses the pink, it might be in the pocket though but it is not a bad
:53:28. > :53:31.effort. How has he not hit the red and knocked on into the pocket. It
:53:32. > :53:39.is going to be called. The ultimate miss there. If anything wasn't a
:53:40. > :53:44.miss it was that. Of course, it is a miss. Can he find that angle again.
:53:45. > :53:48.It is going to be difficult. The referee is allowed to not call a
:53:49. > :53:52.misunderstooder those circumstances but the modern-day way is that you
:53:53. > :54:00.automatically call it. He has got it this time and he has got away with
:54:01. > :54:02.it. Well, almost got away with it. This red will pot. Not easy but it
:54:03. > :54:18.will go. All of a sudden - I say it wasn't
:54:19. > :54:22.easy and all of a sudden from being in a terrible position Marco is back
:54:23. > :54:26.at the table and in with a chance. I think the reason he did get away
:54:27. > :54:30.with it was Judd Trump was expecting an easy opportunity with that and
:54:31. > :54:34.all of a sudden he comes to the table with a bit more pressure on
:54:35. > :54:43.him than he thought was possible. That is the first relatively easy
:54:44. > :54:50.ball I think Judd has missed. But that escape of Marco's he lad to go
:54:51. > :54:54.so close to the -- he lad to go so close to the pink to have any chance
:54:55. > :54:56.of hitting the red. That was pinpoint accuracy. You won't see a
:54:57. > :55:08.better escape than that. Watch how close he goes to the pink
:55:09. > :55:18.here. Just slides past the pink. Amazing.
:55:19. > :55:24.This is his third attempt to win this frame in open play. You'd
:55:25. > :55:47.expect him to convert this chance. Just about getting the right side of
:55:48. > :56:21.the colour. Looked a bit lazy that cue ball as it came back.
:56:22. > :56:52.Well, he's carrying on where he left off before the mid-session interval
:56:53. > :56:57.is Marco. As I say, he showed an awful lot of character after losing
:56:58. > :57:03.two frames where he made breaks of 56 and 64 to bounce back with 130.
:57:04. > :57:05.This is the longest frame of the match so far but the balls did go a
:57:06. > :57:46.little awkward. I think he didn't panic when he was
:57:47. > :57:50.3-0 down because of what he did to John Higgins in the Scottish Open
:57:51. > :57:57.final. That's always going to be in the back of your mind so you don't
:57:58. > :58:05.tend the panic and he didn't. It's two in a row to just be one behind.
:58:06. > :58:10.I did mention before the mid-session interval I thought this could be an
:58:11. > :58:16.absolutely cracking match. It could prove to be because they're both
:58:17. > :58:25.playing really well. Both 95% with their pot success rate. Terrific
:58:26. > :58:27.stuff. This crowd's been royally entertained here in the Aly Paly
:58:28. > :59:04.this afternoon. They've currently got the same pot
:59:05. > :59:09.success rate, although it doesn't feel like that for some reason. It
:59:10. > :59:17.feels like Marco has made more mistakes.
:59:18. > :59:26.That's another fabulous clearance there from Marco Fu. Breaks of 130
:59:27. > :59:29.and that break of 88 - he is only one behind now and it is 3-2 to Judd
:59:30. > :00:02.Trump. He hit that so thick, he should have
:00:03. > :00:07.been behind the yellow again. What damage has he done here? You have to
:00:08. > :00:09.say even though there is a lot of red clustered at the top of the
:00:10. > :00:28.table it is a chance for 5-2. Not that. Oh, OK. Marco's hope is
:00:29. > :00:32.that after messing his shot up - I don't think he even hit the right
:00:33. > :00:38.red - he's just going to hope that because there is a big traffic jam
:00:39. > :00:46.up the top that Judd Judd doesn't get a good result off this shot.
:00:47. > :00:51.Well, there's always plenty of traffic jams around Alship Paly, not
:00:52. > :00:56.far off the North Circular. He has a red in the top corner and that pink
:00:57. > :01:04.is begging to be potted so he has an escape route for this jam.
:01:05. > :01:35.He didn't take any time at all to work that shot out. Looped it around
:01:36. > :01:36.the black and all of a sudden it has opened up into a genuine
:01:37. > :02:08.frame-winning chance. Wasting no time at all. Amongst the
:02:09. > :03:16.balls he seems to be supremely confident.
:03:17. > :03:25.First minor mistake. That will be a bit further away from this red but
:03:26. > :03:31.you can't really call it a true mistake. This red is far enough away
:03:32. > :03:36.from the cushion that he won't have any problems potting it. The
:03:37. > :03:45.positional play's a little bit more difficult.
:03:46. > :03:57.Just lost the cue ball. It's the type of situation reminiscent of a
:03:58. > :04:01.shot Alex Higgins played in that magnificent clearance against Jimmy
:04:02. > :04:08.White in '82. Pot the blue to the side cushion and then screw back to
:04:09. > :04:17.the top cushion but he has got a much easier pink. If it goes in
:04:18. > :04:24.positionally anyway. It goes in, great shot. He's lost the cue ball
:04:25. > :04:29.though. APPLAUSE
:04:30. > :04:34.I think that shot wasn't available to him the Alex Higgins special, he
:04:35. > :04:39.was Hamped by all the other reds and colours. He would have had to lean
:04:40. > :04:42.over them. Mean while. He only just dropped the pink and because he
:04:43. > :04:46.dropped it, it hasn't don't far enough. That is very tight. He
:04:47. > :04:53.talked himself into it. For a minute - I don't think it goes Dennis, it
:04:54. > :05:00.really doesn't go. I'm telling you it doesn't go. I believe you, Steve,
:05:01. > :05:09.I believe you. He's never going to play it.
:05:10. > :05:19.Well - trouble is, I'm not sure what other shots he plays.
:05:20. > :05:27.He will have a play a safety shot to there. Whatever he decides he is a
:05:28. > :05:30.strong favourite because he is 59 in front. He only needs a red and any
:05:31. > :05:46.colour. A bit short paced but... APPLAUSE
:05:47. > :05:56.Makes it a bit easier for Marco Fu to put in a good safety.
:05:57. > :06:08.Things in - ooh, a nasty flick. Nice for Marco. Just got to be a wee bit
:06:09. > :06:14.careful if he is going to land on these reds because he could leave a
:06:15. > :06:18.pot on. If he plans to just nestle on one of the reds to the left, you
:06:19. > :06:23.can see that is the snookering shadow you are looking at there. If
:06:24. > :06:28.he just nestles on one on the left side of the table he can leave one
:06:29. > :06:36.along the cushion. Just got to be a wee bit careful here.
:06:37. > :06:44.I think I'd rather play it slow than put any pace in. He has the black
:06:45. > :06:50.tied up as it is. This way he could shift the black out.
:06:51. > :07:15.Although he might not be able to control the cue ball. Not to his
:07:16. > :07:21.liking. That green's a bit of a problem, perhaps. He stunned it
:07:22. > :07:31.enough to miss the green. The crowd like it. Marco won't. It
:07:32. > :07:59.came a bit too far. How's your luck, Marco? He could
:08:00. > :08:05.have done without missing the pink and coming up and just merging the
:08:06. > :08:09.black, he would have been OK. He looked as if he was going to get
:08:10. > :08:13.straight down and try and cut this in but he's had second thoughts
:08:14. > :08:19.because this is just a massive frame for him. He has to win this 5-2,
:08:20. > :08:23.very little chance. If he is going to play the safety shot he really
:08:24. > :08:26.should play the one on the left of the table, I think, because that
:08:27. > :08:42.clears and opens the black a bit better. So the black's availability
:08:43. > :08:53.to the right corner... I think I preferred the other safety shot.
:08:54. > :09:00.That's a terrific return from Judd Trump though.
:09:01. > :09:05.APPLAUSE that's where his game really has
:09:06. > :09:10.improved, Steve. His safety game has certainly improved. That's
:09:11. > :09:21.effectively where Marco could have put Judd, I think. It is tough. Can
:09:22. > :09:27.Marco sort it out? This has got to be thin. There's the danger of the
:09:28. > :09:36.thin one. Has he got the blue coming to his rescue? Yes.
:09:37. > :09:44.Judd's seething at the moment thinking he has got away with that.
:09:45. > :09:47.Judd is actually saying, "That's just lucky." Put the red right over
:09:48. > :09:57.the pocket. That's a fantastic shot.
:09:58. > :10:27.APPLAUSE That's a pretty good one as well.
:10:28. > :10:33.APPLAUSE Exceln't judgment of pace there from
:10:34. > :10:35.Marco. On these very fast tables the cue ball just lazily gets back
:10:36. > :10:51.before the ball climb. It's just kept itself away from that
:10:52. > :10:56.corner pocket enough to at the very least give Marco a problem. Might he
:10:57. > :11:05.be possibly tempted for the double here? Yeah. It is a thin one, is it?
:11:06. > :11:14.Good shot. APPLAUSE
:11:15. > :11:19.What a brave double although he is only -- he is only left the red he
:11:20. > :11:24.is missing because he played the cue ball in a clever way. We have seen
:11:25. > :11:36.Judd steal frames, this will be another one.
:11:37. > :11:42.This is the key shot. He could bring both reds into play. He would
:11:43. > :11:47.certainly love to develop one of them into a nice potable position
:11:48. > :11:52.but make sure. Don't take your eye off the
:11:53. > :11:59.This is a tricky little one. He is close to the red. He can drop it in,
:12:00. > :12:03.the black is available. He has to fully commit and just roll this
:12:04. > :12:07.along the cushion. This is such a key shot. This is 4-3 or 5-2
:12:08. > :12:12.arguably. But this is the important mopping
:12:13. > :12:53.up, the ones you're expected to get. Well, earlier in the match in frame
:12:54. > :13:02.two and three Marco had to sit in his seat and watch Judd Trump clear
:13:03. > :13:06.up and pinch both frames. And Judd Trump will be sitting in his chair
:13:07. > :13:11.thinking that Marco Fu's got away with this. That one red he left over
:13:12. > :13:17.the pocket and just got a fortunate snooker behind the blue. Couldn't
:13:18. > :13:22.have accounted for that. That's the difference. He has got to clear that
:13:23. > :13:23.from his mind because he is still playing great snooker. Tough at the
:13:24. > :13:36.top. Well the stand yard continues. He
:13:37. > :13:40.has just gone a little bit too far. We have taken it for granted they
:13:41. > :13:47.are potting all these colours but the tension is there. The tricky
:13:48. > :13:51.little one is the brown to blue. He is leaving himself distance, not
:13:52. > :14:10.enough angle to go around the table. So lifeline for Judd Trump.
:14:11. > :14:21.He did pretty good with that but this is still the finish one.
:14:22. > :14:28.What another cracking frame of snooker! These boys are treating us
:14:29. > :14:34.to some fabulous snooker here this afternoon. They are keeping
:14:35. > :14:36.themselves right in this year's masters. Marco Fu is only one behind
:14:37. > :14:51.now, 4-3 to Judd Trump. I'm certainly enjoying every minute
:14:52. > :14:59.of this match. The breaks have been fantastic. Judd Trump has had 182,
:15:00. > :15:09.39, 53 and Marco has had 56, 64, two frames he lost and he has had 130,
:15:10. > :15:13.88 and 58. Brilliant stuff. He has come up a little bit short and maybe
:15:14. > :15:17.the red's going to come to his rescue. I don't think he can get
:15:18. > :15:48.through to the one you can barely see there. He can.
:15:49. > :15:55.I'm not sure what Marco is looking at here. He has to be careful with
:15:56. > :16:01.it. I think he is going to play off the side cushion to keep the white
:16:02. > :16:06.ball in the jaws of the top corner pocket and just checking whether he
:16:07. > :16:11.fancies Judd's going to go for a pot. He has changed his mind. This
:16:12. > :16:17.doesn't look very good. He has overhit it, I think. No, he is OK.
:16:18. > :16:32.He thought he'd overhit it. Perhaps that does go, I don't know. He has.
:16:33. > :16:39.A genuine chance. It is a bit easier than I thought it was first glance.
:16:40. > :16:41.Judd will be disappointed he missed that. He has made a great effort to
:16:42. > :17:04.get position on the black as well. Psychology plays such a big part in
:17:05. > :17:08.the game of snooker. Judd would have been thinking in the last frame,
:17:09. > :17:13."I'm going 5-2 in front here." It looked odds on he was going to do
:17:14. > :17:18.that and then all of a sudden he is back and he is just one in front. It
:17:19. > :17:24.is just keeping yourself sitting in your chair in the correct, positive
:17:25. > :17:26.frame of mind. It needs an awful lot of work mentally to be able to do
:17:27. > :18:22.that. I'm thinking this whole match,
:18:23. > :18:26.Dennis, I don't want to bring it up really, but I don't think we have
:18:27. > :18:32.had one kick. Can't think of one, can you? The balls have been playing
:18:33. > :18:36.wonderfully. The table is in good condition. I don't think it has been
:18:37. > :18:40.a problem throughout the tournament so far. Once the players start
:18:41. > :18:46.trusting the balls to this level the stand yard could go through the
:18:47. > :18:51.roof. I think the stand yard from all the players has been superb but
:18:52. > :18:57.they are the top 16 players in the world. You are playing a one-table
:18:58. > :19:04.venue, no distractions. That's why we're seeing such a high stand yard.
:19:05. > :19:08.That -- standard. That's why we are seeing some terrific crowds so far.
:19:09. > :19:15.We are only in day three and the place has been packed most days.
:19:16. > :19:21.They love their snooker in this part of the world but, of course, we have
:19:22. > :19:22.met people from all over the country that have attended from different
:19:23. > :19:39.parts of the world also. A heavy contact there but he is OK.
:19:40. > :19:48.I told you not to mention, kick. That is the first one, I think.
:19:49. > :19:51.Obvious ly as the table gets more and more finger marks and roughed up
:19:52. > :20:07.they may have an effect. The table is brushed and ironed -
:20:08. > :20:23.well at least brushed - in the interval.
:20:24. > :20:28.Highest break here of the tournament. He won't necessarily be
:20:29. > :20:42.thinking about that. He has the frame on his brain.
:20:43. > :20:47.Didn't get that ideally right but he got the gap. Perfect! Couldn't have
:20:48. > :21:07.asked for better. Her's a prediction, even with that
:21:08. > :21:11.red on the side cushion it looks pretty acute into the middle pocket.
:21:12. > :21:20.Highest break of the tournament coming up now. That's a big
:21:21. > :21:23.prediction, Steve. The way he is playing you wouldn't put it past him
:21:24. > :21:28.but the main thing is to secure the frame and get himself back all
:21:29. > :21:31.square and from 3-0 down. That is quite an achievement. But this high
:21:32. > :21:53.standard continues. Marco just had a quick glance round
:21:54. > :22:01.and he knows if he pots this red Judd will need a snooker.
:22:02. > :22:10.132 is the highest break this year. Stew yart Bingham got that last wake
:22:11. > :22:20.when he ended up losing 6-1 to Joe Perry.
:22:21. > :22:27.I don't suppose losing 6-1, you'd be disappointed, but he had a new baby
:22:28. > :22:36.daughter on Saturday so he would have been glad to get back home,
:22:37. > :22:40.Stuwart Bingham to see Michelle and Marney Rose, his lovely daughter
:22:41. > :22:46.that was born on Saturday. Not great on the black.
:22:47. > :23:03.Best he could do there. So lost ideal position. Can he hold for the
:23:04. > :23:04.blue? Too wide for that. So a lower scoring colour, dropping a few
:23:05. > :23:30.points. While he is mopping these up, it is
:23:31. > :23:32.getting to the stage where he may make the highest break of the event
:23:33. > :23:40.but it may not end up staying that. A nice little prize for the high
:23:41. > :24:16.break, ?10,000. Possibly a 136. Well, there is
:24:17. > :24:17.another mag tiff sent, sentry. It is Marco's second -- magnificent,
:24:18. > :24:25.century. It is Marco's second. That's not great. Can he recover the
:24:26. > :24:42.situation? It is going to be difficult now.
:24:43. > :24:46.That is 12 centuries so far on day 3.
:24:47. > :24:58.Not quite, what a shame. A fabulous effort and that century break has
:24:59. > :25:00.got the man from Hong Kong all square. It is 4 frames each. What a
:25:01. > :25:23.match. REFEREE: Thank you, settle down
:25:24. > :25:40.please now. It is nice to have the atmosphere
:25:41. > :25:47.and a bit of noise in between frames but not on the shot. It was tried a
:25:48. > :25:49.few years ago to play the game of snooker with lots of noise during
:25:50. > :27:37.play. It doesn't work at this game. I'm not sure what happened there.
:27:38. > :27:40.Did he just take his eye off it slightly? He was only dropping it in
:27:41. > :27:54.and walked away very quickly. Let's just have a look. He was
:27:55. > :27:59.playing a delicate little canon and we have seen that quite a few times,
:28:00. > :28:05.the player just takes their eye off a the pot. This could really open
:28:06. > :28:09.this up. There is plenty of loose reds but knowing Judd he will try to
:28:10. > :28:14.open even more of them up. Just depends. He's certainly done that,
:28:15. > :28:27.that's for sure. Great shot from Judd Trump there.
:28:28. > :28:31.Knowing full well it wasn't guaranteed position off a ball in
:28:32. > :28:39.the jaws of the pocket anyway. Decided to be highly aggressive.et
:28:40. > :28:48.once again, this shot as well. Opening more reds up and now look at
:28:49. > :30:05.them. Two shots later he has got the frame at his mercy.
:30:06. > :30:12.Absolutely dead straight as you can see but not a problem for Judd.
:30:13. > :30:16.He knew he was going to back contact with that red when he screwed back
:30:17. > :30:34.but it was thin enough. Judd Trump marks the balls. He looks
:30:35. > :30:41.to be in fantastic form. We still have no real idea about the outcome
:30:42. > :30:50.of this match but how often do you play so well? How often do you play
:30:51. > :30:56.so well with still the potential to come unstuck. I'd have to say I
:30:57. > :30:58.think he has the edge over Marco Fu today but the frame scores don't say
:30:59. > :31:09.that. You say that but if you think about
:31:10. > :31:13.a couple of blacks that Marco's missed that's cost him he could have
:31:14. > :31:18.already won the match, that is how well he has played even though he
:31:19. > :31:21.has made a few elementary mistakes. They have both put on an
:31:22. > :31:26.unbelievable display for us here this afternoon. It really is a treat
:31:27. > :31:28.to watch and another break of over 50. There has been a break of over
:31:29. > :31:56.50 in every single flame. -- frame. A bit short of pace but he only
:31:57. > :32:36.needs this and a colour. He would be delighted with the
:32:37. > :32:43.outcome of that. It was a little bit risky. Could have easily gone in off
:32:44. > :32:51.there. If he'd have caught that red a fraction thicker.
:32:52. > :32:56.That's to win the frame. APPLAUSE
:32:57. > :33:06.arguably this is to win the frame. Absolutely stunning this snooker
:33:07. > :33:21.we're watching here this afternoon. It's been a fascinating match in as
:33:22. > :33:25.much as Judd is just drilling them but Marco has been playing great
:33:26. > :33:31.rear guard action, really digging in. Even though it has been all fast
:33:32. > :33:32.and furious it is a clash of styles to some degree. Different storylines
:33:33. > :33:51.unfolding. Marco's made two centuries in this
:33:52. > :33:55.match so far. Judd Trump, now that he has moved that red has a chance
:33:56. > :34:07.to make his second century break. You just run out of words to
:34:08. > :34:32.describe what we are watching here this afternoon.
:34:33. > :34:35.Judd made 40 centuries last season and he has made 34 so far this
:34:36. > :34:52.season. APPLAUSE
:34:53. > :34:58.That's the 13th century in this year's Dafabet Masters.
:34:59. > :35:04.There's a bit of naughty snooker from Judd Trump. He is not going to
:35:05. > :35:08.bother with the black. What a fabulous response from Judd Trump. A
:35:09. > :35:13.beautiful century break and he gets himself back into the lead but he
:35:14. > :35:54.still needs one more. It is 5-4 to Judd Trump.
:35:55. > :35:58.Perhaps he was playing to shift the black. I think he was playing the
:35:59. > :36:09.big pocket. Is the cross double on? It could
:36:10. > :36:14.possibly the arm. He is looking at the pot. It is far too risky but the
:36:15. > :36:20.cross double could be on. He could play the safety shot as well. He is
:36:21. > :36:28.now coming around to look at that. There you go. Not too sure if that
:36:29. > :36:32.really helps but he sort of lines to telegraph what I'm trying to do,
:36:33. > :36:38.just in case it goes in, it's not a fluke.
:36:39. > :36:44.Here it comes. Yeah, but look at the cue ball. Didn't want the canon on
:36:45. > :36:58.the brown. Is there a possible long-range
:36:59. > :37:02.two-ball plant. Has Judd just seen it? There it goes. He has the shot
:37:03. > :37:11.to nothing and possibly getting in behind the brown.
:37:12. > :37:24.A bit short of pace. Perhaps he was hoping if he potted it, he'd get
:37:25. > :37:51.position. That's aggressive. This is a bit dangerous. I thought
:37:52. > :37:55.he was playing the other red. I take that back. Great shot. I thought he
:37:56. > :38:01.was playing the red below. That was going to push towards the black.
:38:02. > :38:06.APPLAUSE Yeah, that's a beauty. He has
:38:07. > :38:17.blocked off a path back to the safy zone. -- safety zone.
:38:18. > :38:26.It is not great to have to play into this left-hand corner and leave the
:38:27. > :38:28.cue ball in the jaw because there are reds that do pot into the right
:38:29. > :38:38.middle. Not nice. Judd may be coming off the
:38:39. > :38:43.top cushion here with a bit of side to try and flick a red and get back
:38:44. > :38:47.down the table. That is an option he has been looking at. He is standing
:38:48. > :38:54.down the line of this. He can have a couple of goes at it.
:38:55. > :39:05.He has got a fair chance of getting this right. Excellent job.
:39:06. > :39:09.APPLAUSE A bit more pace and it would have
:39:10. > :39:15.been excellent. This is a possibility.
:39:16. > :39:30.APPLAUSE It has come too far. He couldn't
:39:31. > :39:35.keep that cue ball from trundling down. Well, the black, Dennis, and
:39:36. > :39:40.then the white ball is going to do some work. It is going to go up and
:39:41. > :39:45.down the table, if he makes sure of the pot and doesn't canon the green
:39:46. > :39:52.it will come back up towards the red but it is a thin one but he will
:39:53. > :39:58.take it on. He has the easy red behind the brown but he can't refuse
:39:59. > :40:03.this black. I don't think you can play it slow. He is. Danger. Great
:40:04. > :40:09.shot. APPLAUSE
:40:10. > :40:16.Very unlucky with that kiss. That's a tough shot to play that. It could
:40:17. > :40:18.easily have gone offline that. A nasty kiss has left this shot
:40:19. > :40:35.missable. APPLAUSE
:40:36. > :40:40.One could pot here and one good positional shot and he could be
:40:41. > :40:45.right in amongst them. There is the pot and this looks pretty good. It
:40:46. > :40:48.needs to pull up a little bit to leave that red straightish. He has
:40:49. > :40:55.played it perfectly. APPLAUSE
:40:56. > :41:03.Marco Fu has played some fantastic pressure shots and played them just
:41:04. > :41:07.stroking the ball in, which is much easier to power or puncture a
:41:08. > :41:13.pressure shot in. But he is supremely confident coming off the
:41:14. > :41:17.back of that victory in Scotland. What a match this would be for him
:41:18. > :41:23.to win. Really up against it for most of the day. Well, what a frame
:41:24. > :41:24.this would be for him to win to take it into the decider. You just don't
:41:25. > :41:53.know how it is going to go. A bit fiddly around the back of this
:41:54. > :42:02.red. Or in between red and black. No, around the back.
:42:03. > :42:07.I'm not too sure he is ideally placed, is he? Perhaps it is a bit
:42:08. > :42:11.straighter than it looks. Yeah, he can screw it back in.
:42:12. > :42:19.APPLAUSE Any wider and he would have
:42:20. > :42:36.struggled. A great opportunity. Judd Trump first in in this frame.
:42:37. > :42:43.He messed up an ideal position so he can't complain. It has been punch
:42:44. > :42:48.and counter punch all day long. Yeah, I thought Judd was going to go
:42:49. > :42:52.on and clinch the match but he missed the black off the spot. He
:42:53. > :43:06.hasn't missed many in this match but he got that all wrong.
:43:07. > :43:12.Just the pace took that into the pocket. Any harder and it would have
:43:13. > :43:14.wobbled and stayed out. Let's look at this just going in off the jaw
:43:15. > :43:47.there. It is not a clear run to the winning
:43:48. > :43:57.post in this frame. What sort of angle has he got on the
:43:58. > :44:13.black? It looks perfect. He doesn't like it. I thought - I
:44:14. > :44:31.thought that went but perhaps not. He's not ready yet. I don't think he
:44:32. > :44:35.is in position yet. He is just judging it. He played one earlier
:44:36. > :44:40.where he thought he could pot the black but he hit the red before the
:44:41. > :44:44.black. Well, if it is this tight, it is a big decision to risk playing it
:44:45. > :44:46.because he ideally would like to play that red by the pink to free
:44:47. > :45:04.it. This red does pot but not from the
:45:05. > :45:09.position he was in. If he plays a bit higher up the table he will be
:45:10. > :45:13.able to pot it easily. It is too difficult to go into the explanation
:45:14. > :45:19.for that but if he plays it shorter - he decided not to. He's got the
:45:20. > :45:26.flick. The cue ball has just enough power.
:45:27. > :45:35.Justice red really. You would expect him to get on a colour.
:45:36. > :45:43.Oh kick, but he's still got the pot. He is relieved. What a way that
:45:44. > :45:48.would have been to have lost a match in the masters because that kick
:45:49. > :45:52.almost spoiled things for Marco Fu but somehow with the kick the red
:45:53. > :45:57.still managed to get into the pocket. He thought he'd missed it
:45:58. > :46:00.when he got the heavy contact. The reason why...
:46:01. > :46:05.APPLAUSE The reason why I think he got the
:46:06. > :46:09.pot was because he put a bit of right-hand spin on it, which can
:46:10. > :46:14.sometimes negate the kick, so to speak. That is one of the reasons
:46:15. > :46:20.why sometimes you don't play cuts with plain ball. I will tell you one
:46:21. > :46:25.thing, Steve, the two boys in the studio will have a big, big smile on
:46:26. > :46:32.their face because they both predicted 5-4 either way. One of
:46:33. > :46:37.them is going to be right. Well, one of these players is going to lose
:46:38. > :46:41.this match and whichever one it is, is fully justified in going outside
:46:42. > :46:46.and smashing their head against the wall because it has just been such a
:46:47. > :46:51.fantastic game. An exhibition-type shot from Marco Fu. This has been a
:46:52. > :46:56.delight. I have enjoyed every single minute. What a standard they have
:46:57. > :46:59.produced. They have both had two century breaks. Judd had a chance to
:47:00. > :47:04.close the match out. Doesn't matter about the pink. It is the man from
:47:05. > :47:09.Hong Kong is still in it. He takes that frame with that break of 80. We
:47:10. > :47:30.are all square. 5 frames each. You can't beat a decider.
:47:31. > :47:37.What a reception both players got when they had the traditional
:47:38. > :47:39.handshake before a final-frame decider. Not the best break-off from
:47:40. > :47:45.Judd. Where's the red going? Where is that
:47:46. > :47:59.red ball? Wow, what a fluke that is.
:48:00. > :48:03.REFEREE: Settle down please, thank you.
:48:04. > :48:18.Amazing. That type of shot isn't necessarily Marco Fu's strength. He
:48:19. > :48:22.had to hit that pretty hard. It was fairly straight and what an
:48:23. > :48:34.opportunity. Do you remember a shot like that, Steve, many moons ago at
:48:35. > :48:40.the Crucible Theatre. Chris Thorburn went on to -- played that shot and
:48:41. > :48:46.went on to make the maximum break ever at the Crucible Theatre. Judd
:48:47. > :48:51.Trump had first opportunity in the last frame to clinch the match. Now
:48:52. > :48:54.it is Marco's turn. He has a long way to go. He has only potted a
:48:55. > :49:10.couple of balls but it is a chance. The cue ball trundled on a little
:49:11. > :49:26.bit more than he would have wanted. They're certainly not going into the
:49:27. > :49:34.centre of the pocket. I'm looking at his head and body language, he is
:49:35. > :49:38.definitely not on it. If he'd been a bit straighter on that black he
:49:39. > :49:48.could have played it with a bit more force. He chose to play the soft,
:49:49. > :49:53.controlling canon into the pack but the cue ball just snuck behind the
:49:54. > :49:57.red. That is the way he likes to do it but most players would have
:49:58. > :50:00.played it with a lot more pace and that wouldn't have happened there.
:50:01. > :50:04.No, different styles of break building. You can't say that Marco
:50:05. > :50:12.Fu is a slouch in the break-building department. He remind me of the
:50:13. > :50:15.greatray Reardon the way he breaks those. Ray used to be like that,
:50:16. > :50:26.six-times world champion. REFEREE: Marco Fu 22
:50:27. > :50:30.APPLAUSE Judd comes back to the table a lot
:50:31. > :50:41.earlier than we expected or would have hoped for.
:50:42. > :50:49.I'm just thinking there if Marco had have gone on to win the match after
:50:50. > :50:52.that fluke, it wouldn't have been very fair really but that is the way
:50:53. > :51:09.the game can go at times. Marvellous. He didn't waste any
:51:10. > :51:13.time. Picked out a shot to nothing. Deliberately played short of the
:51:14. > :51:20.ball climb as well giving himself another opportunity.
:51:21. > :51:28.He has potted eight out of 10 long pots this afternoon. This red at the
:51:29. > :51:32.back of the bunch is available. The black's on for the right corner. He
:51:33. > :51:41.missed a similar one but he was putting more pace into it before. He
:51:42. > :51:46.has gone fractionally to that left drawer but always in. Can he get
:51:47. > :51:50.himself on that red next to the black because that would clear the
:51:51. > :51:54.black spot area completely? Where the white is at the moment, if he
:51:55. > :51:59.was there he would be on that red and he has an angle to stun in and
:52:00. > :52:04.leave that red on. He is just looking at other options but he'd
:52:05. > :52:13.like to get that red out of the way if he could. He is trying to work
:52:14. > :52:17.out a way he can go about this break without playing a canon into the
:52:18. > :52:23.pack from the black, I think. Sometimes when the reds are all
:52:24. > :52:31.apart from each other a canon into the pack is not as easy to predict.
:52:32. > :52:43.That's not great. He just about got out from that black cushion. So, big
:52:44. > :52:46.shot. I think he can just drop this in and gate canon and be on one.
:52:47. > :53:05.Yep. Pretty good. He lost control a little bit but he
:53:06. > :53:11.has the option of the red into the middle pocket. It is a great chance.
:53:12. > :53:14.He has certainly gone favourite in the frame.
:53:15. > :53:29.Very nicely done. That is amazing. I'm looking at Judd Trump's 102, 87,
:53:30. > :53:36.67, 79, 53, 112 and there's every chance he is going to lose this
:53:37. > :53:40.unbelievably exciting match. 50 ahead, still plenty of reds
:53:41. > :53:42.available. He has played superbly well, just that black off the spot
:53:43. > :53:50.in the previous frame. Right in the heart of the pocket. 58
:53:51. > :54:26.ahead. He is almost there. Most times in a match the loser goes
:54:27. > :54:32.back and analyses where they went wrong. Not too sure that man there
:54:33. > :54:38.has anything to question about his day's play. You can miss balls but
:54:39. > :54:52.what a great match. Well played.
:54:53. > :54:56.APPLAUSE Stellar performance, Dennis. That
:54:57. > :54:58.shot was hampered. That wasn't straightforward. He is such a cool
:54:59. > :55:14.customer. Amazing. If his name was Luke I'll call him
:55:15. > :55:17.cool hand Luke. He's just stolen the match away from Judd Trump who
:55:18. > :55:23.looked to be in, well, you could argue if he kept that form up he
:55:24. > :55:24.could have won the tournament. What an incredible performance. This is
