:01:01. > :01:07.Hello, and welcome to Alexandra Palace for highlights of day two of
:01:08. > :01:11.the 2014 Masters. In a few minutes, we'll find out if Stephen Maguire
:01:12. > :01:14.could hold off the challenge of Joe Perry, after we've shown you the
:01:15. > :01:18.best of the action of a brilliant match between Judd Trump and Marco
:01:19. > :01:34.Fu. The crowd here treated to an absolute cracker.
:01:35. > :01:39.They've broke absolutely superbly... It's Marco Fu who takes the first
:01:40. > :01:47.frame... The good, long pot, it has to be
:01:48. > :01:53.said... Green, brown and blue needed for a
:01:54. > :01:55.3-1 lead at the midsection interval...
:01:56. > :02:00.He's missed it. Excellent pot on the pink! What a
:02:01. > :02:31.frame that was! And a check! He leads Marco Fu by
:02:32. > :02:38.four frames to three! Wonderful shot. Absolutely
:02:39. > :02:53.inch-perfect on the blue. 101 to send us in all square - 5-5.
:02:54. > :02:59.This is his chance... And Judd Trump now fearing the
:03:00. > :03:11.worst... Judd Trump leaves the arena very
:03:12. > :03:15.disappointed. Marco Fu will be over the moon.
:03:16. > :03:19.I just hung in the match. I couldn't believe I was 5-4 up, cos the way
:03:20. > :03:24.Judd was playing, he probably should have been 5-4 up. I just took my
:03:25. > :03:28.chances quite well today, and in the deciding frame, I just needed a
:03:29. > :03:32.chance, which I got at the end. It was a very nice feeling to be able
:03:33. > :03:37.to win in one visit under pressure. Could have gone either way, really.
:03:38. > :03:43.Think my safety was very good. Created a lot of chances. And Marco
:03:44. > :03:48.- he did play a bad shot a couple of times, but he got away with it.
:03:49. > :03:51.You've just got to keep your head up and look forward to the next
:03:52. > :03:56.tournament, and hopefully it changes. I felt quite confident even
:03:57. > :03:59.at the end. It's nice to be able to beat Judd, because he's a very good
:04:00. > :04:08.player. So, great drama here at the Masters.
:04:09. > :04:11.Marco Fu through to the quarterfinals. Could Stephen Maguire
:04:12. > :04:16.book a place in the last eight? Maguire has won five ranking titles,
:04:17. > :04:21.including the UK Championship way back in 2004. The UK Championship
:04:22. > :04:26.was like a hundred year ago for me. I can't really remember much about
:04:27. > :04:29.it. I've not really been - although I've been, I think, one of the top
:04:30. > :04:34.eight or whatever, I've not been one of those players that's, you know,
:04:35. > :04:37.won a lot of tournaments compared to some of the other boys over the last
:04:38. > :04:42.three or four year. For me, one of the majors just now - especially
:04:43. > :04:47.this week - that would be better than winning the UK ten year ago.
:04:48. > :04:53.Maguire has never been beyond the semifinals at the Masters, losing to
:04:54. > :04:58.Ronnie O'Sullivan in 2007, 2009, and Mark Selby in 2010. His opponent,
:04:59. > :05:03.Joe Perry's last appearance at the Masters was in 2010, where he was
:05:04. > :05:06.beaten at this stage by Ryan Day. He has never made the last eight of
:05:07. > :05:11.this tournament. Maybe this is his year - Perry won the first Asian
:05:12. > :05:15.tournament of the 2013-14 season, beating Mark Selby. He reached the
:05:16. > :05:19.quarterfinals of the Australian Open and got to the semifinals of the
:05:20. > :05:27.international championship. We pick it up in frame one - Perry to play,
:05:28. > :05:32.no score. Your commentators John Part and Dennis Taylor.
:05:33. > :05:38.Not the best safety there from Joe, especially with if that red next to
:05:39. > :05:42.the blue goes to the right corner. That was pretty careless. It was a
:05:43. > :05:46.straightforward safety shot. The yellow's just in the way
:05:47. > :05:56.slightly here. You know what Stephen Maguire wants
:05:57. > :06:01.to do - he's such an attacking player. If he sees half a chance of
:06:02. > :06:03.a pot, Heat take it on. Excellent.
:06:04. > :06:07.APPLAUSE Really is.
:06:08. > :06:13.Slightly off-putting when he got a ball like the yellow was there.
:06:14. > :06:16.Slightly hampering your cuing. But he hit that superbly well.
:06:17. > :06:33.Already, this is a good chance. He's been in the semifinals on three
:06:34. > :06:37.occasions with the last three visits to the Masters, as we show you the
:06:38. > :06:45.distance that that pot was. Worth another look. He's lost in the fist
:06:46. > :06:52.round in the last three Masters. All very close matches. He'll be wanting
:06:53. > :07:30.to go a little bit further this year.
:07:31. > :07:34.Delicate cannon needed on the red to the right of the black just above
:07:35. > :08:05.it. He left himself in a position where
:08:06. > :08:08.he's got a choice of reds - take your pick!
:08:09. > :08:14.One of those opportunities, Dennis, where you'd just love to win the
:08:15. > :08:18.first frame in the fist visit you get to the table - a scoring
:08:19. > :08:23.opportunity really settles you down and tells your opponent that you're
:08:24. > :08:37.here to play. If you make a mistake, it's going to be punished.
:08:38. > :08:44.? Sometimes you can go three or four frames and not get a chance around
:08:45. > :08:54.the black spot area. It was Joe's fist safety that left the chance.
:08:55. > :08:59.Joe could have had a go at the red that Stephen finished up potting,
:09:00. > :09:04.but he didn't want to play that one. He thought he'd play a good safety.
:09:05. > :09:38.That was careless, to cannon the yellow.
:09:39. > :09:45.Poor shot, really. It's a tricky little cutback. Look at the
:09:46. > :10:07.determination in those eyes. Looking at the way he's coming off
:10:08. > :10:10.the bump - if Stephen Maguire has a chance on the blue here, the pack is
:10:11. > :10:52.looking absolutely beautiful. Really well struck. Little bit
:10:53. > :10:57.thinner than he would have liked. He played that really well down the
:10:58. > :11:02.bottom of the cue ball there, you can see. Hit them absolutely plum. I
:11:03. > :11:05.think the one on the right-hand side is definitely available if he just
:11:06. > :11:10.chips that in the corner beyond the black. It will definitely be a
:11:11. > :11:14.frame-winning opportunity. Don't know whether that's a little
:11:15. > :11:18.bit thin. He's decided he's going to take the
:11:19. > :11:22.one closer to the cue ball up to the blue. I don't really blame him for
:11:23. > :11:29.that. That's nice...
:11:30. > :11:35.This is an absolutely superb start by Stephen Maguire. The ball here
:11:36. > :12:31.being hit with real authority. He looks in fine fetal.
:12:32. > :12:41.E Always nice to get off to a good start - this could be a
:12:42. > :12:45.frame-winning start. At the moment, Stephen Maguire is alliving up to
:12:46. > :12:52.his nickname, 'On Fire' Stephen Maguire. Hasn't been on fire
:12:53. > :13:01.consistently for the last couple of seasons. But he's back at world
:13:02. > :13:08.number five, and this is very impressive.
:13:09. > :13:15.Another thing you want to do with this start he's had here - try and
:13:16. > :13:19.make a total clearance. Joe, sitting in his chair, made that mistake. If
:13:20. > :13:22.he misses now, he might knock a few balls around and have a practice. If
:13:23. > :13:28.you keep him off the table as long as you can in the fist frame, it all
:13:29. > :13:29.helps. -- in the first frame, it all helps.
:13:30. > :13:48.APPLAUSE Yeah, we've had a 136 break
:13:49. > :13:54.yesterday, then Marco Fu superseded that with 138 this afternoon.
:13:55. > :14:16.?10,000 for the highest break here, so that's not to be sniffed at.
:14:17. > :14:23.If he could drop this black in here, play for the red up the back for two
:14:24. > :14:26.- there you go, he's played it that way. I thought he could have run
:14:27. > :14:30.through there, played the back red and flicked the other red off the
:14:31. > :14:33.side cushion if he wanted, but he's gone about it in a different way.
:14:34. > :14:36.Doesn't really matter - it's job done, as far as the first frame is
:14:37. > :14:54.concerned. Very impressive. Whether he decides to move that red
:14:55. > :15:09.or drop in behind it... Now he's got a choice here. I think
:15:10. > :15:17.he might try to drop on that red. If he could get the white in behind
:15:18. > :15:19.it... Just there, right by his elbow...
:15:20. > :15:29.APPLAUSE You need to work on your positional
:15:30. > :15:36.play there, Dennis! What a start this is!
:15:37. > :15:45.APPLAUSE A possible 139. Just come a little
:15:46. > :16:02.bit straight on the black... He's goingb to unlucky if he's
:16:03. > :16:07.snookered himself there, and I think he has, so he's going to need a
:16:08. > :16:11.fluke - anywhere and he's on the yellow. Just hit it as hard as you
:16:12. > :16:13.can and you might fluke it. Just played the brown onto it.
:16:14. > :16:17.(LAUGHTER AND APPLAUSE) Great start from 'On Fire' Stephen
:16:18. > :16:20.Maguire. Can't do better than that. He had one chance, and made 112. He
:16:21. > :16:29.takes the opening frame. Yes, an excellent start by Maguire,
:16:30. > :16:35.and he won the next frame with a break of 80. Into frame three we go,
:16:36. > :16:43.Perry to play, trailing by 12 points.
:16:44. > :16:48.I'm not entirely convinced that's the right shot, to be honest with
:16:49. > :16:52.you. He's given an easy path for Stephen Maguire to get back in the
:16:53. > :16:54.baulk area. He could find himself somewhere down in the green. If
:16:55. > :16:57.you're going to play it that way, at least get it tight on the ball
:16:58. > :17:28.cushion. A tough one for Joe Perry. If he
:17:29. > :17:34.doesn't get it in, Stephen will be right amongst them. Added pressure,
:17:35. > :17:35.because he's 2-0 down. He knows his opponent is scoring fantastically
:17:36. > :17:47.well. Great shot.
:17:48. > :17:53.APPLAUSE Yep, 10 out of 10 for that one -
:17:54. > :17:59.look where he finished - if the red had have wobbled and come away from
:18:00. > :18:04.the pocket - that's the length of the pot there, 7'10". To roll it
:18:05. > :18:06.like that, he cued it perfectly. Can he keep Stephen Maguire sitting in
:18:07. > :18:20.this seat for a while? This is what top-class snooker is
:18:21. > :18:24.all about - you have to sit there and watch your opponent have all the
:18:25. > :18:28.table time. Now it's your turn - you've got to score. If you want to
:18:29. > :18:31.compete in the match, you have to certainly. These balls are spread
:18:32. > :18:45.really nicely... Very distinctive cue action, Joe
:18:46. > :18:51.Perry. He has annex tended pause in his cue action more so than other
:18:52. > :18:57.players, but a lovely touch in and amongst the black spot.
:18:58. > :19:03.All the players, Dennis, have some sort of pause in the cue action.
:19:04. > :19:11.Joe's seems to be quite pronounced. Yeah, it's a textbook cue action,
:19:12. > :19:15.isn't it? Goes way back to the days of Joe Davis and even Frank Callan,
:19:16. > :19:25.who coached most of the world champions of the '80s and '90s. Four
:19:26. > :19:32.or five feathers with the cue, then pause, then through in a straight
:19:33. > :19:36.line. Other players - and a player like Marco Fu - just points the cue.
:19:37. > :19:44.But he comes back, pauses, and delivers the cue in a straight line.
:19:45. > :19:52.Of course, the pause is there for one reason alone - it gives you time
:19:53. > :19:59.to transfer your eyes to the object ball. Come back, wait, eyes on the
:20:00. > :20:06.object ball, and off you go. He's got a lovely touch. Our good friend
:20:07. > :20:09.Sam Torrens, a keen snooker, has made 90 breaks - Sam used to look at
:20:10. > :20:13.the cue ball when he was delivering. He tried to look at the object ball
:20:14. > :20:17.and got himself confused! You should, as you say, look at the
:20:18. > :20:22.object ball before you deliver the cue. There are players in the top 16
:20:23. > :20:26.who do it the other way around - it's amazing. It's what you've grown
:20:27. > :20:31.up with and got used to. Generally, you'll see the eyes transfer back to
:20:32. > :20:52.the object ball there... Meanwhile, Joe's taking these quite nicely.
:20:53. > :20:57.Those four reds behind the pink aren't potable as they. The two reds
:20:58. > :21:32.on the cushion aren't nice. He's got to be a bit careful here.
:21:33. > :21:41.It's a funny shape as well, the four reds behind the pink - not really
:21:42. > :21:45.ideal for flicking one out or playing specific cannon on one of
:21:46. > :21:51.those. It's going to have to be hit with a bit of force and require a
:21:52. > :21:55.little bit of luck. Usually, Dennis, there's one ball
:21:56. > :22:00.they're going to play on purpose, but maybe if he can contact the
:22:01. > :22:04.middle one hard, screw out of there, maybe that will be OK. Yeah, as long
:22:05. > :22:07.as he doesn't hit the middle of those four reds and stick on that
:22:08. > :22:09.one - that would be the worst outcome. But I think he can avoid
:22:10. > :22:18.that. He hit that one a little bit more
:22:19. > :22:21.pace, and he would have been OK. Still got a possible pot on. You can
:22:22. > :22:26.see him striking down on the bottom of the cue ball. That red in the
:22:27. > :22:32.middle of those four is the one he caught three-quarter ball. A thin
:22:33. > :22:38.one, this, but he should be able to sneak it in.
:22:39. > :22:49.This match probably is of the highest standard - the opening red
:22:50. > :22:55.from Joe Perry was absolutely superb. Hasn't he taken these well
:22:56. > :22:59.so far! Excellent cuing. Knew full well if
:23:00. > :23:02.he missed it, there was a chance he'd be 3-0 down.
:23:03. > :23:09.Since then, he's been at the table and he's taken them very well. Good
:23:10. > :23:24.response. Pretty decent standards, you'd have
:23:25. > :23:27.to say! It has to be said, this table looks to be playing
:23:28. > :23:33.beautifully. It really does - nice and fast. Plenty of life in the
:23:34. > :23:36.cloth. Yep. I've got a sneaking feeling we might see a maximum here
:23:37. > :23:39.this week, Dennis. I've seen a couple of balls drop in on the top
:23:40. > :23:44.cushion which I thought were not going to go in, and the cloth is
:23:45. > :23:51.lovely. Best players in the world. Big prize money. We might see a
:23:52. > :23:55.maximum here this week. You heard it here first, folks! That was JP's
:23:56. > :24:42.prediction. Very, very entertaining.
:24:43. > :24:57.APPLAUSE Taking the pink to give himself a
:24:58. > :25:00.chance of a century. CROWD GROANS
:25:01. > :25:04.No century, but Joe Perry won't be too concerned about that. He potted
:25:05. > :25:10.a terrific opening red and he went on to make a frame-winning break of
:25:11. > :25:14.78. He's only one behind. 2-1 to Stephen Maguire.
:25:15. > :25:18.So, a fine break by Joe Perry, but into frame four, Stephen Maguire
:25:19. > :25:27.roaring back, and he's on a break of 56.
:25:28. > :25:36.If he's thinking of taking this on, good luck, cos this is horrible. Hit
:25:37. > :25:39.the front, Joe, with this one, and it won't be going in. This is a very
:25:40. > :25:52.tricky shot. There you go. Front draw, they don't
:25:53. > :25:56.go in. Stephen Maguire, 56. APPLAUSE
:25:57. > :26:02.You called it absolutely spot-on there, JP. That's what Stephen
:26:03. > :26:05.thought about it. But that's the type of player he is - he's so
:26:06. > :26:16.aggressive, is Stephen. Is that aggression going to cost him
:26:17. > :26:18.this fourth frame? Not an easy run to the winning line with that red
:26:19. > :26:27.the left side of the table. He gets a decent angle on the black
:26:28. > :26:32.here, he can play to move that red. If he didn't move that, he'd have
:26:33. > :26:36.the other red available. What sort of angle has he left
:26:37. > :26:41.himself here? Definitely worth trying to bring that into play,
:26:42. > :26:43.because if he slips past it, he'd leave the other red on.
:26:44. > :27:19.A key shot coming up. Not the best cuing that Joe's
:27:20. > :27:24.produced so far this evening. That's the first one that he didn't cue
:27:25. > :27:28.well. As you said, John, a lot of pressure on this shot, and just cued
:27:29. > :27:31.slightly across it. He knew straightaway.
:27:32. > :27:37.Yep. I think Stephen Maguire was lucky there. I didn't like the
:27:38. > :27:41.twisted shot he played down the cushion before. He can consider
:27:42. > :27:55.himself quite fortunate he's coming back to the table.
:27:56. > :28:02.He shouldn't really make any misday from here.
:28:03. > :28:09.Well in the driving seat here. He shouldn't really make any mistakes
:28:10. > :28:13.from here. Tell you what - they've been pretty quick frames as well -
:28:14. > :28:17.just over 12 minutes for the opening frame. Just over 11 for the second.
:28:18. > :28:24.Just over 15 - well, just under 15 - for the third. This one hasn't been
:28:25. > :28:26.going 14 minutes. So the four frames are going to be over in under an
:28:27. > :28:44.hour. Absolutely no reason why this
:28:45. > :28:48.shouldn't be all over. Pots the brown perfect on the yellow -
:28:49. > :28:50.something he'll have done a million times in practice. Ball colours on
:28:51. > :29:03.the spot. Looks like, as they go for their
:29:04. > :29:08.half-time cup of tea, Joe Perry will be 3-1 down. He'll be feeling OK,
:29:09. > :29:14.Joe, but he knows that red he missed - with Stephen playing as well as he
:29:15. > :29:18.is, Joe could quite easily have been all square with him.
:29:19. > :29:34.That's good from both players - 93% and 96%. Top-class. As you would
:29:35. > :29:41.expect in the Masters. Top 16 players in the world. Every match
:29:42. > :29:45.could grace the final of any tournament. Very, very entertaining
:29:46. > :29:49.from both players, but it'll be Stephen Maguire who'll be the more
:29:50. > :29:52.happy as they go to the midsession interval. He leads three frames to
:29:53. > :29:57.one. And after that midsession interval,
:29:58. > :30:02.Maguire was heading for the last day, taking the next two to make it
:30:03. > :30:07.5-1. Perry, interestingly, grabs the next two to make it 5-3. We join it
:30:08. > :31:03.in frame nine, Maguire trailing by 21 points.
:31:04. > :31:10.Tough shots, these... APPLAUSE
:31:11. > :31:17.That's beautifully cued. That really is beautifully cued.
:31:18. > :31:32.I think Joe can sense that Stephen Maguire is struggling a little bit
:31:33. > :31:36.to get over the line. He knows if he could just play something akin to
:31:37. > :32:35.his best, he's still got a big chance in this match.
:32:36. > :32:41.Stephen Maguire is looking a little bit concerned. It was all flowing
:32:42. > :32:48.beautifully for him. He had a century, an 80, a 86. All of a
:32:49. > :32:55.sudden, Joe Perry just loosened up and he's producing the snooker that
:32:56. > :33:01.we know he's capable of. Never won a match yet in the Masters, Joe. I
:33:02. > :33:06.mentioned when he was 5-1 down, Dennis, he'd have to play no-mistake
:33:07. > :33:14.snooker. That's not necessarily been the case. He has potted a few, but
:33:15. > :33:17.his opponent's certainly helped. It's going to be a struggle to get
:33:18. > :33:19.over the line at the moment, the way it's looking, this match. And it
:33:20. > :34:03.shouldn't have been. He's going to have to move those
:34:04. > :34:06.reds. Just needs this red and the black or pink - that would be enough
:34:07. > :36:13.to leave Stephen Maguire in trouble. He'd like to make a century. He made
:36:14. > :36:25.28 centuries last season. 15 so far this season.
:36:26. > :36:36.This coming just at the right time for Joe Perry and his supporters.
:36:37. > :36:43.John Higgins won his match 6-2, but the other three matches all went to
:36:44. > :36:54.a deciding frame. Yes, you always seem to get a lot of
:36:55. > :37:01.that at the Masters - top 16 players in the world. So little between the
:37:02. > :37:04.relative merits. You do tend to get some really competitive games, and
:37:05. > :37:13.this is turning into one of them. It didn't look like it about an hour
:37:14. > :37:18.ago, but Stephen Maguire's standard has dropped a bit, and Joe Perry's
:37:19. > :37:22.has improved. It's definitely game on.
:37:23. > :37:30.As I say, Joe Perry wasn't playing badly in this match early on, he
:37:31. > :37:36.just wasn't getting a shot. Then Stephen Maguire's just started to
:37:37. > :37:38.fade a bit. Another century from Joe Perry. It's game on.
:37:39. > :37:49.APPLAUSE He's had a yellow, a green, a brown,
:37:50. > :37:54.three blues, seven pinks, four blacks. Is he going to get the final
:37:55. > :37:57.black? Doesn't really matter. Excellent effort from Joe Perry.
:37:58. > :38:01.APPLAUSE He keeps himself firmly in this
:38:02. > :38:08.year's Masters. He's got another one back. That's three in a row! He's
:38:09. > :38:13.now 5-4 behind. Game on! It really is a terrific fight-back
:38:14. > :38:16.by Joe Perry. Into frame 10, will Stephen Maguire steal his place in
:38:17. > :39:25.the last eight in this next frame? Here he is on a break of 28.
:39:26. > :39:30.Some of the finest cuing I've seen all week, and some of the worst.
:39:31. > :39:35.There's been shots missed by an absolute mile, and some shots that
:39:36. > :39:40.you've raved about. It's had a bit of everything.
:39:41. > :39:43.It's always been in the Masters, the first round to get through to the
:39:44. > :39:45.quarterfinal has always been the toughest round to win, believe it or
:39:46. > :40:00.not. APPLAUSE
:40:01. > :40:07.Good cue ball. He's covered that one near the left corner pocket, I
:40:08. > :40:12.think. Joe just looking to see if he could see enough of the cushion to
:40:13. > :40:17.just come off the cushion and land on that red.
:40:18. > :40:23.He's going to come off the side cushion nestled on the three reds
:40:24. > :40:28.there... That's a bit careless! That's a bit
:40:29. > :40:34.careless! He might even be able to cut this in! Now that is just a lack
:40:35. > :40:42.of concentration there. Cos it was a wide target - didn't matter which
:40:43. > :40:49.one of them he landed on. Very surprising. I mean, this is
:40:50. > :40:51.absolutely razor-thin, this red. If Stephen Maguire takes this on, it is
:40:52. > :41:06.very, very thin indeed. APPLAUSE
:41:07. > :41:13.Oh, my goodness. What a pot. What a pot.
:41:14. > :41:17.He knew he had to come twice across the table to cannon them. It
:41:18. > :41:21.couldn't have worked out better. We go back to Joe's shot - he wouldn't
:41:22. > :41:24.have had that little bit of good fortune if Joe had have concentrated
:41:25. > :41:29.and just nestled on the reds. That was a terrific shot from Stephen
:41:30. > :41:35.Maguire. He deserved a bit of good fortune there.
:41:36. > :41:42.But to finish on pink and black - well, they don't finish any better
:41:43. > :41:49.than that, and that might just be Joe Perry's last visit to the table.
:41:50. > :41:53.Stephen Maguire played for the plump there, has he, Dennis? Looks like
:41:54. > :41:56.it. Don't really know what other shot he's played, unless that one
:41:57. > :42:04.next to the pink he can get through. It must be the plant.
:42:05. > :42:20.He's had three or four plants in this match. Joe Perry knows that
:42:21. > :42:25.that is the end. Well, he's 38 ahead, 75 on. It really should be
:42:26. > :42:28.the end. He's struggled so far in the last couple of frames to win the
:42:29. > :42:33.match, Stephen Maguire, but he doesn't really have to do anything
:42:34. > :42:40.with the cue ball here. He's such a talented player, Joe
:42:41. > :42:45.Perry, but this is his sixth appearance in the Masters. He lost
:42:46. > :42:50.in the wild card round a couple of times and lost in the last 16 the
:42:51. > :42:56.last two seasons - just can't get off the mark. It's the toughest
:42:57. > :42:57.tournament to win of the lot, with the exception of the World
:42:58. > :43:08.Championship. Stephen had lost the last three
:43:09. > :43:15.Masters in the first round, but it's Stephen that's going through to the
:43:16. > :43:22.quarterfinal. He'll meet either - I think it's Gary Robson or Vassos
:43:23. > :43:29.Alexander, John. Neil Robinson or Neil Alan. That's a dinger of a
:43:30. > :43:32.match. Should be a cracker. He'll be a bit disappointed here, Joe Perry
:43:33. > :43:35.in this frame. He just didn't keep the pressure on
:43:36. > :43:49.Stephen Maguire. Both players making centuries. The
:43:50. > :43:51.way they set off before the midsession interval, it was
:43:52. > :43:56.unbelievable snooker. Then things changed at the interval. Got a
:43:57. > :44:03.little bit scrappy. Players started missing. And there's another one
:44:04. > :44:05.that's missed, but barring lots of snookers, Stephen Maguire's in the
:44:06. > :44:21.quarterfinal. I think he'll shake hands now that
:44:22. > :44:28.both reds have gone in. You would think he would, because that has
:44:29. > :44:32.just spoiled his chances, knocking both reds in.
:44:33. > :44:53.52 in it, 35 on the table. He's looking at the scoreboard, is Joe.
:44:54. > :44:59.He almost came over to shake hands. That's hard to get a snooker, debs!
:45:00. > :45:13.-- Dennis! TE Just play nice and slow here -
:45:14. > :45:16.don't do anything daft or hit the black. Joe needs five snookers at
:45:17. > :45:32.the moment. This is quite a big target. Might go
:45:33. > :45:48.in off the red. Nice feeling for Stephen Maguire,
:45:49. > :45:53.the opponent needing five four-point snookers. He'll be totally relaxed
:45:54. > :46:20.out there, Stephen Maguire. Pressure will be off.
:46:21. > :46:26.He does concede. Both players started off like a house on fire. It
:46:27. > :46:30.all changed after the midsession interval. It was a great effect from
:46:31. > :46:35.Joe Perry to come back from 5-1 to 5-4 but, in the end, Stephen Maguire
:46:36. > :46:41.takes the match, and he goes through to the quarterfinal a 6-4 victor.
:46:42. > :46:45.I felt good at the start. Little bit nervous at the start, but the way I
:46:46. > :46:52.went out there and dealt with it, I was quite pleased. Towards the end
:46:53. > :46:57.there, it was a different game from from what it was in the 90 minutes
:46:58. > :47:01.before the. It wasn't that I was under any more pressure - he starts
:47:02. > :47:06.getting his bit between the teeth, and he played well. I definitely
:47:07. > :47:11.didn't want it to go five each. I've been looking forward to this since
:47:12. > :47:16.the UK. It's just great. The one-table set-up - we're not getting
:47:17. > :47:19.that these days. We're playing with ten tables there and everybody's
:47:20. > :47:22.getting in each other's way. It's good to be out there. You feel like
:47:23. > :47:28.a professional snooker player for a change. I want to play there again
:47:29. > :47:33.and play the following match, and stay here as long as I can. Raze
:47:34. > :48:06.Well done, Stephen Maguire. Let's remind you of the draw:
:48:07. > :48:12.More action on the way in Snooker Extra straight after this programme.
:48:13. > :48:16.You can savour that epic match here at the Masters between Judd Trump
:48:17. > :48:22.and Marco Fu all over again, and then Hazel is back with further live
:48:23. > :48:25.covage from the Masters at 1.00 as we concentrate on Ding Junhui taking
:48:26. > :48:31.on muff Murphy. That also could be a cracker. Sleep -- Shaun Murphy. That
:48:32. > :48:34.also could be a cracker. Sleep well. Bye for now.
