:00:32. > :00:41.Good evening to you. It's been a big day for the 45th President across

:00:42. > :00:48.the pond and an important evening for us in the 43rd playing of

:00:49. > :00:52.snooker as Ally Pally. We still don't know who will rule in this

:00:53. > :00:55.particular place come Sunday night. We are at the quarter-final stage.

:00:56. > :01:02.One more match to be played in the quarters. These are the three who

:01:03. > :01:05.have made it through. Defending champion, Ronnie

:01:06. > :01:10.O'Sullivan could reign for a seventh time. Beating Neil Robertson in an

:01:11. > :01:16.oddly fragmented match yesterday. Ronnie is to play Marco Fu tomorrow.

:01:17. > :01:22.A former runner up in the event. Marco Fu's form is immaculate as

:01:23. > :01:28.Mark Allen found to his cost, losing 6-3. All eyes on Mark Selby, the

:01:29. > :01:36.world number one, who faced a tricky opponent in last year's runner up,

:01:37. > :01:41.Barry Hawkins. Barry ground his way into the lead for a spectacular

:01:42. > :01:47.frame. In the next, the Jester got in the scoring groove and levelled

:01:48. > :01:54.the match with a 76. And by frame three, it was starting

:01:55. > :01:58.to go wrong for Mark Selby, the reigning world and UK champion, and

:01:59. > :02:04.by the interval, Hawkins had stretched his lead to two frames.

:02:05. > :02:08.His long potting giving him the edge here.

:02:09. > :02:15.After the break, Hawkins threw away a great opportunity, when he could

:02:16. > :02:22.not split the reds, and Selby showed resilience with a gutsy 71.

:02:23. > :02:29.Hawkins took the next, then Mark Selby made the only century in the

:02:30. > :02:35.match to still remain in touch. Last year's runner up, Hawkins, he was on

:02:36. > :02:44.top early in frame eight to go 5-3 in front. But Hawkins went through

:02:45. > :02:46.again for the second semi-final, sell sexual abuse's chance of a slam

:02:47. > :02:52.has gone. A great win for me. Up there with

:02:53. > :02:56.one of my best wins definitely. Especially in a venue like this. Up

:02:57. > :03:01.there with beating Ronnie in the Crucible. I think. He is the world

:03:02. > :03:05.number one. Any time you beat the world number one, you are doing

:03:06. > :03:09.something right. Obviously disappointed to lose. Not at any

:03:10. > :03:14.stage did I stump my authority on the match. Barry was getting in

:03:15. > :03:22.first in all of the frames apart from the last. I was clearing up

:03:23. > :03:26.from behind. You can't keep doing that.

:03:27. > :03:31.I seem to enjoy the big occasions. There is massive buzz when you win a

:03:32. > :03:38.match like that. No better feeling. I am through to the final again.

:03:39. > :03:43.And up next is Ding Junhui against owe Perry. The Chinese player has

:03:44. > :03:50.only won once at Alexandra Palace, one match since then. This is the

:03:51. > :03:54.second time ever that 42-year-old Joe Perry has gotten past this round

:03:55. > :04:02.in the Masters. It is fully two years since they

:04:03. > :04:07.faced one another. Two time Masters finalist is our trump card, Mr

:04:08. > :04:11.Doherty. Quarter-final appearances off late have been rare for both of

:04:12. > :04:17.these men. How nervy, how big an occasion for both? It is a nervous

:04:18. > :04:22.occasion, a big occasion. There is a full house tonight. The semi-finals

:04:23. > :04:25.of the Masters at stake. But they are experienced players. They love

:04:26. > :04:28.this atmosphere. They want to perform. That's always a little bit

:04:29. > :04:33.of pressure. I'm sure it will be a really good match.

:04:34. > :04:39.Let's talk about Joe Perry. He had been in the doldrums. Not in great

:04:40. > :04:44.form since a final last July. And then he beat the world number two

:04:45. > :04:50.and the former world champion, Stuart Bingham. Where did it come

:04:51. > :04:55.from! Beware of the guy with a care free attitude. He was not expecting

:04:56. > :05:01.too much. It freed him up a little bit. I commentated on the match. I

:05:02. > :05:07.saw him playing as well as he has for a long time. It is there, it is

:05:08. > :05:16.just a matter of bringing it out. And his success at Alexandra Palace,

:05:17. > :05:19.he had one at Wimbledon but that was way back.

:05:20. > :05:25.When he is on form, he can beat anybody. But spriting he has only

:05:26. > :05:28.won one match here but this is a good opportunity for Ding Junhui

:05:29. > :05:33.now. A good opportunity for both players.

:05:34. > :05:38.And they will not be playing Mark Selby but Barry Hawkins. And from

:05:39. > :05:43.Mark's perspective the chance to become the fifth man to hold the

:05:44. > :05:47.slam, that will hurt? He was really, really disappointed today. But fair

:05:48. > :05:52.play to Barry Hawkins. Any time that Mark Selby posed the question to him

:05:53. > :05:56.he answered with great aplomb. He played solid. He loves this

:05:57. > :06:02.tournament. He was a finalist here last year. OK. Well a quarter-final

:06:03. > :06:08.place to be decided. Who is making it to the semi-final? Rob Walker

:06:09. > :06:12.officially in charge, over to you. Good evening ladies and gentlemen

:06:13. > :06:17.what a match in prospect. Friday night, we're in London and that is

:06:18. > :06:23.the last quarter-final of the Masters. A world-class weekend of

:06:24. > :06:37.snooker starts right here, right now!

:06:38. > :06:43.APPLAUSE Please, welcome a player in

:06:44. > :06:50.unchartered territory, bidding for a first Masters semi-final in nine

:06:51. > :06:57.visits. Booking his place after a win against Stuart Bingham. Runner

:06:58. > :06:59.up at the World Open earlier in the season, here comes the gentleman,

:07:00. > :07:24.Joe Perry. MUSIC:

:07:25. > :07:30."Happy." And his opponent, a player bidding for his first Masters

:07:31. > :07:36.semi-final since 11, the year he won the title at Wembley. This year,

:07:37. > :07:42.winning the Six reds and the Shanghai Masters. A national hero in

:07:43. > :08:05.China, enter The Dragon, Ding Junhui!

:08:06. > :08:11.APPLAUSE Oh, it's a lively crowd in tonight.

:08:12. > :08:16.In charge in the commentary box are two former Masters champions,

:08:17. > :08:23.Stephen Hendry and Dennis Taylor. Ready for a Friday night in, fellas?

:08:24. > :08:28.We are, Hazel. And this crowd, once again, a fantastic reception for

:08:29. > :08:30.both players. APPLAUSE

:08:31. > :08:38.It's a beautiful trophy that they are playing for. Thank you. The

:08:39. > :08:45.first frame. Joe Perry to break. Joe has won the toss. He's getting

:08:46. > :08:52.the quarter-final under way. It was great to see Ding coming in with a

:08:53. > :08:57.big smile on his face. In the early day, Ding, in a strange country, a

:08:58. > :09:03.little shy but it's great to see that big smile. A very likeable lad,

:09:04. > :09:12.Stephen, you have been in China with him a number of times, I'm sure.

:09:13. > :09:17.Yeah, I think he has grown accost Yomed to the venue now. I remember

:09:18. > :09:20.years ago he suffered at the hands of Ronnie O'Sullivan in the final.

:09:21. > :09:30.But it has made him a stronger person and player for that

:09:31. > :09:41.experience. I think you used to have a suit like that, Stephen, didn't

:09:42. > :10:10.you? It's a little bit of tartan going on there.

:10:11. > :10:18.See if Joe can carry on with the scoring. In his first-round match he

:10:19. > :10:32.scored very heavily. Very impressive.

:10:33. > :10:38.APPLAUSE A good pot to start. It is always

:10:39. > :10:43.nice the first time. That was timed beautifully. He is looking as once

:10:44. > :10:52.he pots the black it will be blocked up. It looks pretty straight on the

:10:53. > :10:58.black. Not straightforward this little

:10:59. > :11:03.opening. Easy to get in a red but obviously, after that, which colour

:11:04. > :11:07.do you play for? Now he could play this red to the right corner and

:11:08. > :11:13.stun it off the cushion and knock it away from the right-hand side of the

:11:14. > :11:17.black. But I don't even know if the black can pot the left-hand corner.

:11:18. > :11:24.It could be a power shot up for the blue.

:11:25. > :11:30.He doesn't go. So that takes that out of the equation. This has to be

:11:31. > :11:40.hit well. It's the top, left-hand side.

:11:41. > :11:47.Now, does the pink go? I didn't see that one.

:11:48. > :12:00.It's pretty tight. But he can just see enough of it.

:12:01. > :12:07.If you hit the pink and the red at the same time, it's a foul shot but

:12:08. > :12:13.clearly he made contact with the pink first. It's what is called a

:12:14. > :12:15.split ball when you hit them both together. But that was definitely

:12:16. > :13:22.the pink. I think this will be a high-scoring

:13:23. > :13:36.match tonight. Both players are carrying form.

:13:37. > :13:42.Both have two first-round centuries. It could be who makes the most of

:13:43. > :13:51.their opportunities. He wants the cue ball to stop... Ding just caught

:13:52. > :13:56.out there with the pace of the table. He has landed touching the

:13:57. > :14:02.red so he can shoot it away down the table. Such a lively cloth. I think

:14:03. > :14:05.that is the reason we have had so many century breaks, the table has

:14:06. > :14:33.been playing beautifully. Well-judged to get in behind the

:14:34. > :14:37.yellow. It's not an easy escape. No red to come off the curb good

:14:38. > :14:42.afternooned just land on. He would like to land on the one to the left

:14:43. > :14:51.of the black. But as you can see it's difficult to find an angle to

:14:52. > :14:57.land tonne that one. He'll have to be precise with this.

:14:58. > :15:05.Well, you can't get any better than that!

:15:06. > :15:14.That was very well judged indeed there, from Joe Perry. Yeah, that

:15:15. > :15:19.match, to beat Stuart Bingham 6-1, and that time, Stuart, in the only

:15:20. > :15:23.frame he won, he made the highest break. 132 but that was surpassed by

:15:24. > :15:36.Marco Fu who made a magnificent 140. Now that might be touching. It

:15:37. > :15:57.seemed to nestle back. Because of the closeness to the pink

:15:58. > :15:59.he can't get at the table. So no real advantage from the touching

:16:00. > :16:28.ball this time. Don't forget he can't do much with

:16:29. > :16:35.it. It's a little bit of a stalemate at

:16:36. > :16:45.present. Ding Junhui with a 4-point advantage will want this resolved

:16:46. > :16:49.before the referee might just say, a few more shots, Boyce and then maybe

:16:50. > :17:00.set them up again. This time he can get up the table,

:17:01. > :17:34.so no chance of a re-wrack. Back to normal!

:17:35. > :17:41.This red will pass the gene, so. Ding Junhui caught that far too

:17:42. > :18:04.thick, that's why the red came back up the table with the cue ball.

:18:05. > :18:19.He can play it well, he can get a screw shot, he can get the white

:18:20. > :18:23.somewhere on the angle to get back up to the reds. It depends on the

:18:24. > :18:29.angle. Looking at the table he has a lovely

:18:30. > :18:33.angle on the green. I don't think he will play his shot, as it's his

:18:34. > :18:39.first scoring visit. But he has every chance of finishing

:18:40. > :18:45.on a red. He has got the pink in the open. But maybe a bit too aggressive

:18:46. > :18:51.at this stage of the first frame. If he does pot the pink, that's going

:18:52. > :19:00.to be blocked up when it goes back on its own spot.

:19:01. > :19:08.Always aims low on the cue ball, Dennis, doesn't he? A little bit

:19:09. > :19:11.like Jimmy White. Touching the cloth, actually, and

:19:12. > :19:40.delivering the cue slightly high every. -- lightly higher.

:19:41. > :19:47.You could see the chalk transferring tonne the cloth when he played that

:19:48. > :19:49.screw-back. That was a beautifully struck shot

:19:50. > :20:29.it really was. It's the reason that the table is

:20:30. > :20:32.brushed at the mid-session interval to get rid of all of the finger

:20:33. > :21:02.marks, chalk marks. Nicely on the blue again. There is

:21:03. > :21:07.an interested spectator. That's Joe's father, Peter. He's been here

:21:08. > :21:14.for both his matches. Oh, hit the wrong ball there,

:21:15. > :21:22.Stephen, didn't he. If he was going into the pink, he

:21:23. > :21:26.needed a full-ball contact. He must have been going into the

:21:27. > :21:32.pink but catching the side of this. There is still this red to the right

:21:33. > :21:50.middle. It's a tough shot but it's the only one he can leave. Should he

:21:51. > :21:55.miss it... No, a lovely shot! That is an ab-Hewitt cracking pot from

:21:56. > :22:05.where the cue ball was. He just looks so relaxed out there.

:22:06. > :22:23.He did against Stuart Bingham. A nice mannerism around the table.

:22:24. > :22:27.Walker introduces Joe as Gentleman Joe Perry, and that's certainly what

:22:28. > :22:43.he is. Fact he didn't pot the red cleanly,

:22:44. > :22:49.means that the cue ball hadn't travelled as far as it would have

:22:50. > :22:54.done. Somehow he has an awkward angle on the pink. He can play for

:22:55. > :22:59.the red over on the left side cushion but it's not what he was

:23:00. > :23:06.after. The other three are tied up

:23:07. > :23:13.somewhat, they maybe available into the right middle pocket.

:23:14. > :23:33.Well, he decided to take the more difficult pot to gain position.

:23:34. > :23:47.If Ding has the angle he can follow through and flick the black away,

:23:48. > :23:52.leaving himself on the pink. He's on this black. He's going to

:23:53. > :23:57.have to go around the table. The red that's closest to the cue ball only

:23:58. > :24:11.pots to the right corner. So between green and the brown.

:24:12. > :24:15.He could go yellow and brown but he isn't anywhere near, you can see by

:24:16. > :24:24.his reaction. He was a long way short that time.

:24:25. > :24:29.So it's a close opening frame here. It's always nice, eve no-one the

:24:30. > :24:41.best of 11, to get the first frame under your belt.

:24:42. > :24:51.He didn't want the cannon on the yellow. This is a shot to nothing

:24:52. > :24:53.for Joe Perry. He'll be playing a safety as well as

:24:54. > :25:12.taking the pot on. Contact on the brown that he would

:25:13. > :25:17.have liked. It almost looked certain like he was going to finish on the

:25:18. > :25:26.yellow. So tacking the white in behind the yellow.

:25:27. > :25:30.He couldn't risk trying to nestle on the yellow to block off the escape

:25:31. > :25:36.route down the right side of the table. It happened earlier, I can't

:25:37. > :25:41.remember who, planning to roll up on the ball but didn't reach it and

:25:42. > :25:45.left a three ball after the foul. So Joe didn't want that to happen

:25:46. > :25:54.there. I think he has blocked the escape route down the right side to

:25:55. > :25:59.land on that right that is tight on the cushion.

:26:00. > :26:03.I think Joe Perry is one of the best tactical players in the game. That

:26:04. > :26:12.was very clever the way he played that shot.

:26:13. > :26:18.He had to swerve it. Has he hit it hard enough? This is a good escape

:26:19. > :27:45.because he had to swerve it to make the angle!

:27:46. > :27:51.Stephen mentioned earlier, there, Joe Perry was one of the best

:27:52. > :27:56.tactical players in the game, and proving it again there with that

:27:57. > :28:01.very good safety. He doesn't have to swerve it this

:28:02. > :28:06.time but head like the same outcome just to land on this red. That's

:28:07. > :28:11.going to come up a long way short. It's a fast cloth but it's not that

:28:12. > :28:17.fast. Joe will have a look at the red near the blue. If he is hammered

:28:18. > :28:31.with the black he'll have it put back, and he is.

:28:32. > :28:39.He must be careful not to overcompensate here.

:28:40. > :29:02.Leave it to the left, to the corner pocket.

:29:03. > :29:08.APPLAUSE He might be able to swing the white

:29:09. > :29:10.over towards the yellow. He has to be careful not to put the red into

:29:11. > :29:28.the pottable position. Head rather go for the bigger target

:29:29. > :29:29.of the green and the brown but from this angle he can't really get over

:29:30. > :29:43.there. As though he was frightened of

:29:44. > :30:07.bringing that red into play. Will Ding attempt that?

:30:08. > :30:18.Well, he has the white back up the table but it's costing him seven

:30:19. > :30:20.pints it's left a half chance. He hit that far thicker than he

:30:21. > :30:50.intended. Is that could prove to be a

:30:51. > :31:19.frame-winner. 20 points the difference. The black

:31:20. > :31:28.tied up so he's going to need the blue, the red and yellow. Needs to

:31:29. > :31:40.pull over. Otherwise he will be the wrong side of the yellow when he

:31:41. > :31:51.pops the blue. -- pops the. It needs to keep going. And it has. That is

:31:52. > :31:57.why we have had so many century breaks. Just be alone needed to win

:31:58. > :32:52.the opening frame. Just over 23 minutes.

:32:53. > :33:01.Pretty solid first frame from Joe Perry. All departments of his game

:33:02. > :33:18.look pretty sharp. On point with safety. Looks very confident.

:33:19. > :33:31.It doesn't really matter, the fact that he hasn't got on the pink. Try

:33:32. > :33:37.a little trick shot here. No fireworks in this opening frame.

:33:38. > :33:42.Very tactical but Joe Perry looking very solid here this evening. He

:33:43. > :33:54.takes the opening frame and leads 1-0. He's been scoring heavily.

:33:55. > :34:00.There were a couple of pots bear that indicate the form is very much

:34:01. > :34:05.with him. That particular shot, you have to be so accurate. Into the

:34:06. > :34:11.middle pocket. There is the red that set up winning the frame. Safety has

:34:12. > :34:15.always been very good. Those particular pots are evidence that

:34:16. > :34:27.he's cueing very well. He has that carefree attitude. We

:34:28. > :34:33.heard that he had fallen out of love with the game but it seems to be

:34:34. > :34:39.working well for him. Can you identify with that? I think every

:34:40. > :34:44.player can. Every player goes through the bad times as well as the

:34:45. > :34:48.good ones. Sometimes you get so frustrated practising and practising

:34:49. > :34:54.and you are not seeing the fruits of your labour. It can be very

:34:55. > :35:01.frustrating. Every player would have gone through that, I'm sure. At the

:35:02. > :35:05.age of 42, he's talked a lot about players of that vintage having an

:35:06. > :35:10.awful lot to do with the younger players blowing hot and cold. They

:35:11. > :35:18.might beat a big-name player and then they fall. The consistency,

:35:19. > :35:23.does that come with it age? It's not a young man's game any more. It is

:35:24. > :35:29.the fortysomethings playing better than they did in their 20s. It's

:35:30. > :35:33.quite bizarre. It comes with age and experience. So many good young

:35:34. > :35:37.players on the circuit now. A lot of the lads in their latte years are

:35:38. > :35:46.playing some of their best snooker. Ding Junhui is 29, Joe Perry is 42.

:35:47. > :35:52.It is the veteran who has taken the lead.

:35:53. > :35:59.COMMENTATOR: A couple of veterans in the commentary box here. One a lot

:36:00. > :36:05.older than the other. It will be great to see Stephen Hendry getting

:36:06. > :36:12.his cue out again for the world seniors. Who knows, if he wins that,

:36:13. > :36:14.gets a wild card, you might see the former world champion back at the

:36:15. > :36:29.Crucible. Wouldn't that be something special?

:36:30. > :36:37.I think he's just OK. I thought he was going to leave a red to the

:36:38. > :36:49.right corner but he has gone far enough. To keep it safe. Not that

:36:50. > :36:55.many years ago, they were all saying about a young man's game. But a lot

:36:56. > :37:01.of the 40-year-old to well. The great John Spencer, three times

:37:02. > :37:06.world champion, Ray Reardon, six times world champion, they were at

:37:07. > :37:12.their peak in their early 40s. Played their best snooker. They had

:37:13. > :37:22.a great final way back in 1975 at the New London Theatre. Somebody has

:37:23. > :37:29.a problem with the APs. Can you turn it off for the time being. We are

:37:30. > :37:36.hearing the interference in. It was one of the great finals, of the

:37:37. > :38:20.Masters in 1975. John Spencer won it on the black.

:38:21. > :38:25.Looks as though he can see enough of this red. Or is he playing the one

:38:26. > :38:37.in front? It's quite difficult. Nice little double-kiss that led him

:38:38. > :39:03.to miss that red. I think it would be a good strategy

:39:04. > :39:09.for Ding to play aggressive safety shots to get the reds opened up.

:39:10. > :39:16.This kind of exchange will suit Joe Perry more. I think, in my opinion,

:39:17. > :39:17.he's the better tactical player, the clever player, in this sort of

:39:18. > :39:35.situation. I think that just indicates what

:39:36. > :40:18.Stephen was saying. 83% safety success to Ding's 77%.

:40:19. > :40:26.He has the opportunity to play-off the bunch here. The more aggressive

:40:27. > :40:33.shot. You can never be entirely sure whether reds will end up. So, he

:40:34. > :40:48.will play the more conservative shot.

:40:49. > :41:04.Ding will certainly open them up here, you feel. He might have fluked

:41:05. > :41:10.it. It looked on. That shot. The red was always going to go towards that.

:41:11. > :41:13.A three-ball plant. It's always going to go close. It's gone in his

:41:14. > :41:31.favour. If this is dead straight on this

:41:32. > :41:37.red, it could leave the black into the opposite corner and it clears

:41:38. > :41:41.the black spot area. Fantastic petition will shot. -- fantastic

:41:42. > :42:04.positional shot. What a chance now. That wasn't easy by any stretch. You

:42:05. > :42:10.can see, there is no other reds available in that area. So he played

:42:11. > :42:17.for that. Great shot. From that fluke, he did raise his hand, he has

:42:18. > :42:27.created a great opportunity here. This is definitely his strength.

:42:28. > :42:36.Very few, if any, in the game better, in my opinion. Absolutely.

:42:37. > :42:38.He's up with the all-time greats in the century department. He has made

:42:39. > :42:58.435 in his career. Meanwhile, he just overscrewed that

:42:59. > :43:18.slightly. Should be much more comfortable on the black than this.

:43:19. > :43:38.There's some of background noise. Ding Junhui can hear it. APPLAUSE

:43:39. > :43:42.He might not be on a red. That was all caused by the previous

:43:43. > :43:51.positional shot when he didn't get on the black, as intended. It's end

:43:52. > :43:55.of break unless he takes on a very risky double. He can't really

:43:56. > :44:01.because he would leave a read. Good safety shot. Like Stephen, I thought

:44:02. > :44:16.he was going to go on and make a sizeable break there. APPLAUSE

:44:17. > :44:26.This is the shot where he was hampered slightly. Just overscrewed

:44:27. > :44:44.it slightly. I don't think it will be getting put

:44:45. > :45:09.back. The pink is available. Needs a good positional shot. He can

:45:10. > :45:15.get on the black. Something banged just as he knocked the pinking.

:45:16. > :45:18.There was a noise. On his backswing. He couldn't even stop. Not sure if

:45:19. > :45:39.it is backstage. This is a tough shot no. He got up

:45:40. > :45:47.very quickly. Indicating immediately he got a bad contact. At first

:45:48. > :46:07.glance, he hasn't seen anything. -- left anything.

:46:08. > :46:38.Just that last shot that Ding played just as he was about to deliver the

:46:39. > :46:40.cue, I certainly heard a noise. There was quite a bang somewhere. He

:46:41. > :47:39.couldn't stop himself. Has he got away with that? He made a

:47:40. > :47:48.mess of the safety shot. Look where the finished... So close to the red

:47:49. > :47:52.he can't even planned the red in. It is far too thin, careered into the

:47:53. > :47:59.other red. Look where the cue ball finished. No wonder Joe was

:48:00. > :48:04.scratching his head. I don't know if you can see the bottom cushion. Just

:48:05. > :48:08.missed the red to the right of the green. Get up to the red, get on the

:48:09. > :48:28.black and clear up. The most important thing was to make

:48:29. > :48:34.sure he potted the red. He has had to play that with check side to

:48:35. > :48:53.secure the angle. That is a great shot. What a chance. These are

:48:54. > :50:01.tough. Especially if you miss it, you are guaranteed to leave it on.

:50:02. > :50:11.Just got into it a bit too much. It all depends on the angle he has on

:50:12. > :50:15.the red. Just depends whether he can get the correct side of the blue to

:50:16. > :50:28.keep the break going here. Pretty straight. APPLAUSE

:50:29. > :50:41.He might just be able to screw back and leave the reds to the left of

:50:42. > :50:47.the four reds and pink. That's where he wants to place the cue ball. Just

:50:48. > :50:59.a matter of screwing it back about 18 inches. He is thinking about the

:51:00. > :51:10.more difficult yellow. I think the blue is the better one. Just leave a

:51:11. > :51:15.medium length pot. There is a shot to play lots of top spin of the

:51:16. > :51:28.blue, four cushions to leave the black in the right-hand corner. He's

:51:29. > :51:35.not look that that one. Or has he? I think he looked at the possible

:51:36. > :51:43.plant. Once again, might get that red in the middle of those. If he

:51:44. > :51:49.hadn't got into that area, he might have got onto that. But he can still

:51:50. > :51:54.have a go at the plant. Pick a spot where you would want to hit the

:51:55. > :51:59.first red. Hit the spot on the question just to the left of the

:52:00. > :52:04.pocket. If he does take it on, it is an element of safety in his mind. In

:52:05. > :52:21.fact, he's not even going to bother with the plant. APPLAUSE

:52:22. > :52:23.What a pot that was. He's not on the green but he will be tight in behind

:52:24. > :52:48.it. He will be disappointed that he

:52:49. > :52:49.didn't win the frame at that visit. A couple of slack positional shots

:52:50. > :53:11.earlier on. I think if he was straight on that

:53:12. > :53:14.red to the yellow pocket he would take it on but the angle wasn't

:53:15. > :55:00.right to come back for the black. Don't know if Joe can take this red

:55:01. > :55:06.to the left corner and avoid contact with the black. I don't think so.

:55:07. > :55:18.You need to get some contact on the cue ball. He's just had a look at

:55:19. > :55:20.that shot you mention. He'll go close to the black, you'd say.

:55:21. > :55:48.Change of plan. So important to get close to the

:55:49. > :55:54.cushion. The modern day players are such good long potters. You will see

:55:55. > :56:08.them setting up long pots to practice.

:56:09. > :56:16.Almost got the snooker. Not quite. Needs to get back to the safety

:56:17. > :56:50.area. We've had a couple of fairly

:56:51. > :56:57.tactical frames. The first frame lasting almost 25 minutes. This one

:56:58. > :56:59.has been going just over 21. He can take the red on this time and get

:57:00. > :57:10.back down the table. Terrific cueing there. Tucked up

:57:11. > :57:35.behind the brown. He hasn't covered the easy out to

:57:36. > :57:48.the left-hand side of the table. Careless.

:57:49. > :58:23.I think he can score enough without needing the rednecks to the pink.

:58:24. > :58:29.He's looking good. -- without needing the red next to...

:58:30. > :58:43.STUDIO: Joe Perry looking good for a 2-0 lead here. If you want to follow

:58:44. > :58:50.this match, it continues all evening until the last ball drops via the

:58:51. > :58:58.BBC sport app or the red button. If you've are the plans, I'll be back

:58:59. > :59:03.later but in the meantime, from Ken and me it's farewell.

:59:04. > :59:22.Why would James Delaney hate the India so?

:59:23. > :59:24.If they have a fear of water, God help them.
