0:00:35 > 0:00:39Hello, good afternoon. Welcome back to Alexandra Palace. The 2018

0:00:39 > 0:00:46Masters has certainly lived up to its name and reputation. The top 16

0:00:46 > 0:00:50snooker players in the world have really entertained us, and now we

0:00:50 > 0:00:59are left with four men looking to land snooker's biggest title.

0:01:20 > 0:01:25So, down to the nitty-gritty, the semifinal stages. Probably not the

0:01:25 > 0:01:28line-up you would have expected? Everybody expected Mark Selby or

0:01:28 > 0:01:31Ronnie O'Sullivan to be in the semifinals. The player that are

0:01:31 > 0:01:35still in it are top players, but it is hard to pick a winner.Tonight it

0:01:35 > 0:01:39is Mark Allen and John Higgins, they usually have cracking matches

0:01:39 > 0:01:43question markMark Allen very impressive, beating O'Sullivan. John

0:01:43 > 0:01:46Higgins hasn't won this event for 12 years and might think it is his

0:01:46 > 0:01:53time.What do you think of other semifinal between Trump and Wilson?

0:01:53 > 0:01:55I think it will be very aggressive, not much safety. They like to pot

0:01:55 > 0:02:01long balls.Has to start winning is? Without a doubt, the talent he has,

0:02:01 > 0:02:05he should be winning these majors. Perhaps this is his time. He was

0:02:05 > 0:02:12very strong in coming through. We will see this afternoon. This is a

0:02:12 > 0:02:18tough game. When you get the weekend here, it becomes a bit of a mad

0:02:18 > 0:02:22show, really. Something you want to be involved with. The atmosphere is

0:02:22 > 0:02:25like no other. I think to be part of that is what every player strives

0:02:25 > 0:02:34for.You want to be getting to the later stages of the Masters, the UK,

0:02:34 > 0:02:37the worlds, this is snooker's Triple Crown, the big event that everybody

0:02:37 > 0:02:41tunes into. To do it in my second appearance at the Masters, it is a

0:02:41 > 0:02:45dream come true. I don't want it to end there, I will try my hardest to

0:02:45 > 0:02:51make sure it doesn't.When I was younger, I won the UK and got to the

0:02:51 > 0:02:55final of the worlds, I thought it would be easy, just keep doing that

0:02:55 > 0:02:59every tournament. Now I've got to 28, you cherish every semifinal,

0:02:59 > 0:03:07final that you get in.I'm still only 26. A baby in the snooker world

0:03:07 > 0:03:12these days. I'm just trying to knock the old guard off their pedestal.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14I'm gathering experience and momentum in these big events and I

0:03:14 > 0:03:20don't want it to stop there. Here's a couple of years younger than me.

0:03:20 > 0:03:25It is always tough when you play somebody younger. The shot selection

0:03:25 > 0:03:29is a little bit different. When he goes for his shots and they go in,

0:03:29 > 0:03:34it can scare opponents. I know what he is capable of.I am able to score

0:03:34 > 0:03:38when I need to and scrap it out when I need to. I do know I need to play

0:03:38 > 0:03:44a little bit better in the next round to get through.Undoubtedly

0:03:44 > 0:03:51the biggest meeting between Judd and Kyren was the Shanghai Masters in

0:03:51 > 0:03:562015, which Kyren won. Remember how well he is doing at the Masters,

0:03:56 > 0:04:00just his second appearance. Trump won the most recent meeting in the

0:04:00 > 0:04:04fourth round of the Scottish open in 2016. It's going to be a cracking

0:04:04 > 0:04:08game today. Good afternoon to the, the team, Dennis Taylor and Steve

0:04:08 > 0:04:12Davis. Dennis, let me start with you. Kyren Wilson has been giving

0:04:12 > 0:04:16that interview not just to the broadcasters but also the

0:04:16 > 0:04:19newspapers, saying the same thing. Do you think he has enough variation

0:04:19 > 0:04:24in his game to win?I have been a great fan ever since he turned

0:04:24 > 0:04:28professional and I like his attitude. Very, very positive. He is

0:04:28 > 0:04:32very confident and nice with it. But I love his game, terrific cue

0:04:32 > 0:04:35action. I think he has served his apprenticeship. He has won one

0:04:35 > 0:04:40ranking title and could go all the way. But he's up against Judd Trump,

0:04:40 > 0:04:44so it is going to be a very aggressive and attacking semifinal.

0:04:44 > 0:04:49Steve, you have been singing Kyren's praises all week?You don't know

0:04:49 > 0:04:53until you win one of the big majors if you have got it. It looks like he

0:04:53 > 0:04:57has all parts of the jigsaw puzzle in place. Great temperament and

0:04:57 > 0:05:00great matchplay. There are players with different kinds of abilities,

0:05:00 > 0:05:04but being able to play great matchplay, I think, is the biggest

0:05:04 > 0:05:08commodity. Sometimes it is the elusive commodity.Dennis, in terms

0:05:08 > 0:05:13of Judd Trump, if he picks up where he left off against Sean yesterday,

0:05:13 > 0:05:19it could be a tough afternoon? He has the UK title, he wants another

0:05:19 > 0:05:23one. He has a great chance. He still has to do it on the table. Nobody

0:05:23 > 0:05:29will make it easy for you.Given that Ronnie is not here, many fans

0:05:29 > 0:05:32were so looking forward to seeing Ronnie O'Sullivan this began. But he

0:05:32 > 0:05:38is out. The very fact that Judd is an entertainer and plays his brand

0:05:38 > 0:05:43of snooker, he is going to get a rapturous applause?A very popular

0:05:43 > 0:05:47player, and he plays in such an attractive way. It is tough for Judd

0:05:47 > 0:05:51Trump. His best seasons in the majors, 2011-12, it looked like he

0:05:51 > 0:05:55would use that as a springboard to more success at the top of the tree.

0:05:55 > 0:05:58I think perhaps the days of the players winning the World

0:05:58 > 0:06:02Championship and the big events at the age of 21, 22, they are perhaps

0:06:02 > 0:06:06going to go now because there are so much strength in depth and good

0:06:06 > 0:06:09players. It is not absolutely imperative that Judd Trump is

0:06:09 > 0:06:12winning, because he has plenty of years left in the tank. He would

0:06:12 > 0:06:17still like to. It has been a few years since he won a big one.Good

0:06:17 > 0:06:20stuff. I look forward to your commentary. The players are ready.

0:06:20 > 0:06:26Let's join Rob Walker.

0:06:26 > 0:06:29Good afternoon and welcome to semifinal Saturday at the Dafabet

0:06:29 > 0:06:34Masters. One of the two meant at the top of the stairs will return

0:06:34 > 0:06:39tomorrow for a maiden Masters final. Huge for both players. Too close to

0:06:39 > 0:06:44call. Ally Pally is rocking in anticipation of this massive sash

0:06:44 > 0:06:49and of snooker! Here we go! -- massive session of snooker.

0:06:55 > 0:07:04Please welcome a player emerging from what is, without doubt, one of

0:07:04 > 0:07:07the biggest matches of his career so far. His first appearance in a

0:07:07 > 0:07:12Triple Crown semifinal. Winner of the 2015 Shanghai Masters, he has

0:07:12 > 0:07:15already been in two major finals this season and he will be seriously

0:07:15 > 0:07:20fired up for this this afternoon. PAs The Warrior, Kyren Wilson!

0:07:50 > 0:07:54And his opponent, arguably the most exciting player of his generation,

0:07:54 > 0:07:59winner of eight ranking titles in all and, here, bidding for his first

0:07:59 > 0:08:04Triple Crown final since 2014. The reigning European Masters champion,

0:08:04 > 0:08:07in cracking form after that brilliant quarterfinal victory over

0:08:07 > 0:08:13Sean Murphy. Can he bring his own brand of naughty snooker? He is The

0:08:13 > 0:08:26Ace In The Pack, Judd Trump!

0:08:45 > 0:08:50What a fantastic reception for both players. A very good afternoon to

0:08:50 > 0:08:52everyone.

0:08:56 > 0:09:06Thank you very much, first frame. Judd Trump to break.Judd Trump won

0:09:06 > 0:09:12the toss and will get the semifinal and under way. A pretty good length

0:09:12 > 0:09:19with the break of

0:09:19 > 0:09:24he has left one to the corner, and if he can get around the back of the

0:09:24 > 0:09:33black, Kyren might have a go at it. A very attacking player.

0:09:34 > 0:09:37APPLAUSE

0:09:38 > 0:09:47Could do with a kiss. Didn't get it. Certainly a terrific opening pot.

0:09:49 > 0:09:56And early confidence booster.

0:10:19 > 0:10:27I know that Judd has tremendous support, but Kyren Wilson got a

0:10:27 > 0:10:31tremendous reception from this crowd. It has been packed all week.

0:10:31 > 0:10:42In fact I have just spotted Judd's mum and dad, there.

0:10:52 > 0:10:59APPLAUSE

0:11:04 > 0:11:12REFEREE: It is touching ball.

0:11:12 > 0:11:17Steve and Georgina, Judd's parents. Very proud of their son. They are at

0:11:17 > 0:11:26most venues. Foul, declared it straightaway on himself. He must

0:11:26 > 0:11:34have touched it. I didn't see anything from that shot. Obviously

0:11:34 > 0:11:37he touched something, because he declared that straightaway.

0:11:44 > 0:11:51To something that a player feels.

0:11:51 > 0:11:58Could have touched it. Sometimes even with the sound of the hit, you

0:11:58 > 0:12:01can sense that you have brushed the ball.

0:12:15 > 0:12:24Tempting red into the middle pocket.

0:12:29 > 0:12:35APPLAUSE

0:12:36 > 0:12:41Yes, very good pot from that position, with the white tucked up

0:12:41 > 0:12:46on the cushion. If he can pot the green, there are a couple of reds

0:12:46 > 0:12:52on. Decided to keep it tight and roll behind it.

0:12:52 > 0:12:55The Judd Trump of a number of years back may have been tempted by the

0:12:55 > 0:13:04green. I think he now has a different balance to his game.

0:13:08 > 0:13:12The trouble from Judd Trump's perspective is that he got a lot of

0:13:12 > 0:13:17success playing very, very attacking snooker. As the years have gone on,

0:13:17 > 0:13:21his game will change, balance wise. But it would be nice to get some

0:13:21 > 0:13:22success with it.

0:13:33 > 0:13:39Just going back to that, in 2011, when Judd lost in the final of the

0:13:39 > 0:13:45World Championship to John Higgins, I had never seen potting like it.

0:13:45 > 0:13:48Unbelievable display. It looked like he was going to win the world title

0:13:48 > 0:13:55back then.

0:14:00 > 0:14:03Surprised he didn't have a look at that.

0:14:08 > 0:14:15Really no damage done at all. Unless you fast forward to the end of the

0:14:15 > 0:14:17frame, when seven points become important.

0:14:24 > 0:14:29Somehow, a red has managed to poke its nose over the right corner. It

0:14:29 > 0:14:32will be tough for Kyren Wilson to guarantee any kind of position from

0:14:32 > 0:14:35this shot. He is going to be careering into the pack after

0:14:35 > 0:14:41potting this. If he did get the right split of reds, the cue could

0:14:41 > 0:14:48come to the left and be on the black.

0:14:52 > 0:14:55APPLAUSE

0:14:56 > 0:15:03As you said, Steve, there was no guarantee. Look where he has

0:15:03 > 0:15:09finished. Unbelievable.I don't think he thought he would be going

0:15:09 > 0:15:14into the black.

0:15:14 > 0:15:22Perhaps he was thinking of going into reds?

0:15:37 > 0:15:42Wasn't really bothered about the black going in. Initially it was

0:15:42 > 0:15:49about getting the cue ball safe.

0:15:52 > 0:15:57It is tough for Judd. He comes onto the scene, scaring every player to

0:15:57 > 0:16:04bits with such aggressive snooker. The next phase of the game and we

0:16:04 > 0:16:10are starting to criticise because he is...

0:16:10 > 0:16:16Because he is to open. Perhaps everybody talking in his ear saying

0:16:16 > 0:16:19he has to tighten up his game. Then you don't get as much success as

0:16:19 > 0:16:27when you were knocking them in off the lampshades.

0:16:34 > 0:16:40He gets very low, down on the table. He gets his cue as parallel as

0:16:40 > 0:16:47possible. A lot more players these days are higher up at the back.

0:16:47 > 0:16:52Tries to keep his head as solid as possible on the shot.

0:17:15 > 0:17:19What does he do this time? He refused the green previously. He is

0:17:19 > 0:17:25rolling up to it again.

0:17:26 > 0:17:30We said this was going to be aggressive and very attacking

0:17:30 > 0:17:35snooker, and here we are watching them play some terrific safety play!

0:17:35 > 0:17:38I think both of these players understand the game well enough to

0:17:38 > 0:17:44know that a good start is important. Perhaps a little bit more of a

0:17:44 > 0:17:49careful approach to start with.

0:17:50 > 0:17:58Open up a little bit in the match later.

0:17:59 > 0:18:03Not too much value in potting this unless he feels he can get the cue

0:18:03 > 0:18:09ball out into open play. There is a gap for the pink into the middle

0:18:09 > 0:18:17pocket. He might play for that. It is tough to get on the blue.

0:18:28 > 0:18:35Is it brand-new cloth? I think it is. It makes a massive difference to

0:18:35 > 0:18:39those pockets accepting the ball. Perhaps yesterday that shot was a

0:18:39 > 0:18:49lot harder, today The Pocket is just sucking that red in.

0:18:49 > 0:18:55They change the cloth after the quarterfinal. The cushion was

0:18:55 > 0:18:57starting to bounce.

0:19:03 > 0:19:07It is amazing the difference brand-new cloth, even from cloth

0:19:07 > 0:19:10that is four or five days old. It can make such a difference to the

0:19:10 > 0:19:18effective size of the pockets.

0:19:25 > 0:19:30Fractionally overscrewed that. Not that it will cause a problem. As

0:19:30 > 0:19:37long as he can reach. He could go into the reds understood. -- and

0:19:37 > 0:19:44disturbed them.

0:19:44 > 0:19:48Not great.With that title shot, I am surprised Judd doesn't change

0:19:48 > 0:19:54hands. He is so good playing with his opposite hand. He really was

0:19:54 > 0:19:59stretched, and it has caused him to not get the cannon on the red as he

0:19:59 > 0:20:04intended.

0:20:07 > 0:20:14intended.Pin good pot.

0:20:18 > 0:20:23Worth another look at that one. Very difficult to score here. I don't

0:20:23 > 0:20:28know if he can avoid the black and get into the reds. He could do.

0:20:32 > 0:20:36Well, he was on a red. But he's still got to get up at least for the

0:20:36 > 0:20:40blue. It is still not straightforward. It would be nice to

0:20:40 > 0:20:51get the black on the spot.

0:20:52 > 0:20:56PinHe played that with his opposite hand? He does look good playing

0:20:56 > 0:21:00right-handed.

0:21:00 > 0:21:08Not ideally on the black. Blue is an option.

0:21:08 > 0:21:11The black, in itself, is not a hard pot.

0:21:17 > 0:21:21I'm not too sure which reds go from this position. Surely he is not in

0:21:21 > 0:21:23anything there?

0:21:29 > 0:21:42The bottom red was the one he was going for. Just a bit and -- under

0:21:42 > 0:21:49paced. What has he spotted? Long range. Does he get past that red?

0:21:49 > 0:21:54That is tight.I don't think anything goes there.You don't want

0:21:54 > 0:21:57to talk yourself into this if it doesn't go, that is for certain.

0:22:01 > 0:22:07There is a third of a pocket left for that red.

0:22:07 > 0:22:09It looks like end of break, here.

0:22:15 > 0:22:23He tried the long-range plant, that is a risk that perhaps he didn't

0:22:23 > 0:22:27need to take. Has he got away with it? Yes!

0:22:32 > 0:22:38Wow, he was fortunate there. He took that risky plant on. We will show

0:22:38 > 0:22:43you that again. That was very low percentage chance, but look at this

0:22:43 > 0:22:48white. It just kept on rolling and rolling, and covers the red.The

0:22:48 > 0:22:52thing about the shot that Judd played, fair enough, play the

0:22:52 > 0:22:56long-range plant. But he must have known that the red was going to

0:22:56 > 0:23:01escape to the bottom half of the table. Very risky.

0:23:12 > 0:23:16Not easy to hide the cue ball here. But he knows full well if he gets

0:23:16 > 0:23:21into this corner it is going to be safe.

0:23:25 > 0:23:29Excellent judgment from Kyren Wilson. Wouldn't have wanted to have

0:23:29 > 0:23:36collided with the yellow. Had to be sure of the path.

0:23:40 > 0:23:43Judd has a problem. Ideally, he would like to shift this red away

0:23:43 > 0:23:53from the middle pocket. Play a long, screw back pot. But he would not

0:23:53 > 0:24:04know where the red is going. He has spotted a cut into the same pocket.

0:24:09 > 0:24:12Trying to get it down into the same place. No collision with the

0:24:12 > 0:24:15yellow... Now the red is on.

0:24:52 > 0:24:57Could develop into a very good opportunity here for Kyren. 36

0:24:57 > 0:25:03behind.

0:25:09 > 0:25:16That will do nicely. He's got a terrific cue action. Generates so

0:25:16 > 0:25:18much back spin. Lots of power.

0:25:30 > 0:25:36Every time I see Kyren play, for some reason he reminds me of a ten

0:25:36 > 0:25:40time world champion, John Pullman, who worked for the BBC for years. A

0:25:40 > 0:25:46great commentator. Same size as Kyren. Similar sort of style, a lot

0:25:46 > 0:25:55of the older viewers will remember John Pullman.

0:26:05 > 0:26:09I must admit, when we have seen Kyren Wilson on the big stage, in

0:26:09 > 0:26:13the World Championship and this event, that...

0:26:17 > 0:26:21He doesn't look like he is overawed by the big occasion. That is a big

0:26:21 > 0:26:23plus point.

0:26:35 > 0:26:43This would send a big message out, if he were to clear up here.

0:26:49 > 0:26:55He has come quite a way short. This is a thin snick required. He was

0:26:55 > 0:26:59probably thinking about the red next to the pink, the only one that is

0:26:59 > 0:27:07awkward at the moment. He has other problems now.

0:27:08 > 0:27:11Good recovery.

0:27:11 > 0:27:18APPLAUSE

0:27:21 > 0:27:28That red that is two from the pink. Yes, the cushions with new cloth on,

0:27:28 > 0:27:32playing noticeably slower. Players are having to adapt to that. I don't

0:27:32 > 0:27:39think the practice table cloth and questions have -- cushions have been

0:27:39 > 0:27:47changed. So the cushions are playing faster.

0:27:51 > 0:27:57He was very close to the middle pocket. As we show you this screw

0:27:57 > 0:28:02back, he almost went in the middle pocket. He can just see enough of

0:28:02 > 0:28:10this red to take the pot on. Shot to nothing. If he was to slot this red

0:28:10 > 0:28:15in and not finish on a colour, and pot Judd in a snooker, it would be a

0:28:15 > 0:28:24very difficult one. He shot. -- key shot.

0:28:34 > 0:28:38It has jawed and unsafe. So, we are going to have a close finish.Tried

0:28:38 > 0:28:45to control that shot, playing the red and white slowly. I think I

0:28:45 > 0:28:48would have preferred to have hit it with a bit more pace, coming in and

0:28:48 > 0:28:55out of baulk.

0:29:06 > 0:29:09This looks very good.

0:29:20 > 0:29:25Excellent. It looks like it might have to be a two cushion escape to

0:29:25 > 0:29:30get back up the table. Doesn't want to hit the red full ball.

0:29:45 > 0:29:46If he comes off

0:29:46 > 0:29:50If he comes off the two cushions He could hit that or play the one next

0:29:50 > 0:29:55to the pink but look how close he'll have to get to the blue. This is not

0:29:55 > 0:30:03nice. He may have to try and play the two cushion snick off the red to

0:30:03 > 0:30:07the pink and commit. Anything else is a lot more dangerous. He might

0:30:07 > 0:30:13give a few points away in trying to do it though. Doesn't want to leave

0:30:13 > 0:30:17a free ball, obviously.

0:30:31 > 0:30:37He's having a think about that.

0:31:03 > 0:31:07That would be a foul shot if you roll in tight behind the colour and

0:31:07 > 0:31:15snooker the people behind that so it is the blue.

0:31:17 > 0:31:27Great shot. He didn't want to play that cue ball too far across the

0:31:27 > 0:31:33table. He would have left a pot on had he missed. But he also wanted to

0:31:33 > 0:31:37be on a colour. It was pretty critical where he put the cue ball

0:31:37 > 0:31:49there. He's on this blue. Not ideally.

0:31:57 > 0:32:04This is a terrific shot he's played here.

0:32:04 > 0:32:07He's got an angle in this to get on the blue in such a way that he could

0:32:07 > 0:32:10then cannon the pink and red. I don't think he can hold for the

0:32:10 > 0:32:16black. Playing it right-handed again.

0:32:21 > 0:32:25again. Down for the blue. He has a chance to move that difficult red.

0:32:25 > 0:32:29Judged the pace well off the top cushion for that one. The cushion is

0:32:29 > 0:32:35playing a little slower. A little bit more of an angle Denis and he

0:32:35 > 0:32:40might be going into the pink. He's got to bang this in if he's going to

0:32:40 > 0:32:46go straight in.

0:32:47 > 0:32:56Two cushions is risky if he misses cannoning it into the red and pink.

0:32:56 > 0:33:00What is he looking at now? What he's thinking about there is if he pots

0:33:00 > 0:33:04the blue and leaves himself in such a way he could send the red around

0:33:04 > 0:33:09the table and finish tight end around the pink. That was the

0:33:09 > 0:33:11alternate thing he was thinking about.

0:33:17 > 0:33:22Why did he not try and play the cannon there? Does this go from this

0:33:22 > 0:33:26position, the red? I wouldn't have thought so?No, I think it would hit

0:33:26 > 0:33:35the red and pink at the same time.

0:33:43 > 0:33:46There was a chance to shift the red away from the pink. No guarantees of

0:33:46 > 0:33:54course that he'd then leave it on. So he's tried to be a lot more

0:33:54 > 0:33:57precise by putting his opponent back in trouble. But of course, every

0:33:57 > 0:34:02time you leave your opponent back at the table, escaping from a snooker,

0:34:02 > 0:34:05you can always get away with it.

0:34:07 > 0:34:12I think I preferred across the table here.

0:34:12 > 0:34:18APPLAUSE.

0:34:18 > 0:34:25I think I preferred across the table.

0:34:31 > 0:34:37That was tight.

0:34:47 > 0:34:52You've got to be able to hit both sides.I'm with you, bridge over,

0:34:52 > 0:35:02then try to flick the red half ball. I suppose there is a risk you would

0:35:02 > 0:35:09leave it over the corner.

0:35:10 > 0:35:14Just trying to get past the middle pocket I think.

0:35:15 > 0:35:19Three cushions. Oh, dear.

0:35:23 > 0:35:31Green goes safe.Well, he only needs the red so he'll take this on.Makes

0:35:31 > 0:35:35things even better with the green safe, it's a bit more of an

0:35:35 > 0:35:40insurance policy. But this red is obviously an easy shot really.

0:35:40 > 0:35:45APPLAUSE.

0:35:49 > 0:35:57That misjudgment off the top cushion from Kyren Wilson, three reds out,

0:35:57 > 0:36:02was his undoing.

0:36:02 > 0:36:10But they both look in fine form regardless.

0:36:14 > 0:36:19This might turn out to be the longest frame of the match. We are

0:36:19 > 0:36:26not far off 28 minutes.Certainly is at the moment.

0:36:26 > 0:36:31APPLAUSE. Kyren stays in his seat.

0:36:34 > 0:36:40Judd Trump in the end tames the frame and leads Kyren Wilson 1-0.

0:36:40 > 0:36:42Judd Trump in the end tames the frame and leads Kyren Wilson 1-0.

0:36:42 > 0:36:46Good start then for Judd Trump. During the interval we'll head down

0:36:46 > 0:36:51to the Cue Zone. If you have any questions for our commentateths, get

0:36:51 > 0:36:57in touch. Be nice! Intriguing opening frame?Yes, not like what

0:36:57 > 0:37:03you probably expect. Interesting few shots in there. Judd playing,

0:37:03 > 0:37:07refusing to play the cannon. Ultimately it rewarded him because

0:37:07 > 0:37:11he played down and played the snooker and then Kyren bizarrely

0:37:11 > 0:37:14played out of the snooker, I don't know quite why he wanted to make

0:37:14 > 0:37:17that more difficult for himself because ultimately he lost the frame

0:37:17 > 0:37:23off it. Interesting that he refused to play the shot, ended up winning

0:37:23 > 0:37:28the frame.I noticed against Murphy Judd was playing some strange shot

0:37:28 > 0:37:32choices, we are used to him being very aggressive and going for the

0:37:32 > 0:37:37shots. I agree with John, I can't believe he didn't play the cannon.

0:37:37 > 0:37:43The balls are at his mercy, at this level you have to be taking the

0:37:43 > 0:37:48chances.Sorry if Mark is watching but he was so bad the other night in

0:37:48 > 0:37:56his match, he wasn't forced to score. In fairness he admitted that

0:37:56 > 0:38:02in the press conference. But Kyren didn't really score in that. He

0:38:02 > 0:38:06didn't have to score but he's got to score heavier off the chances. These

0:38:06 > 0:38:10events, if you want to win them against the big players, you have to

0:38:10 > 0:38:14be taking the chances and really put the pressure on.A fine start for

0:38:14 > 0:38:22Judd Trump. He leads 1-0. Back to it.

0:38:22 > 0:38:31The second frame, Kyren Wilson to break.

0:38:42 > 0:38:47This time the breakoff shot's put a red next to the black and put it out

0:38:47 > 0:38:48of commission.

0:38:55 > 0:39:03Picking up on John and Stephen's analysis of Judd Trump's tactical

0:39:03 > 0:39:09nous in that frame, perhaps that's the new Judd Trump, not getting as

0:39:09 > 0:39:13much success as he wants by playing the overly aggressive game. I

0:39:13 > 0:39:18suppose it's a natural instinct to try and look at what has been going

0:39:18 > 0:39:24wrong, try to rectify it, so perhaps that's on his mind to play a hard

0:39:24 > 0:39:35type of snooker. Got to get the balance right.

0:39:35 > 0:39:39balance right. Didn't want to collide with the yellow. He'll be

0:39:39 > 0:39:44hoping that doesn't cost him.

0:39:44 > 0:39:49That's not to say that Judd is not going to take on the long ball.

0:39:49 > 0:39:53Especially with his cue power. He can always screw back to baulk or

0:39:53 > 0:40:00toward the blue line and get out of trouble.

0:40:05 > 0:40:16Just is playing the percentages.

0:40:17 > 0:40:31Police Authority plawz Excellent put. Great safety shot as well.

0:40:31 > 0:40:39He's not on a colour, so...

0:40:40 > 0:40:45This is more like hard match play from Judd Trump. Perhaps in his day

0:40:45 > 0:40:51he would have gone for one of those long reds and careered it in, but

0:40:51 > 0:40:55it's great to watch how a player develops as they stay in the game.

0:40:55 > 0:40:59And if he gets success with it, as he's quite rightly doing at the

0:40:59 > 0:41:03moment; why not.

0:41:03 > 0:41:14I'll tell you what, he's put Kyren in all sorts of trouble. He can't

0:41:14 > 0:41:19get to a red. He'd like to land on the left one but how does he get

0:41:19 > 0:41:22round? Just watch this shot, how many cushions he's got to hit to get

0:41:22 > 0:41:30there. One, two, three cushions. Four cushions. And not quite hard

0:41:30 > 0:41:37enough. This is tough. The cushion is playing slower and also with new

0:41:37 > 0:41:41cloth. They also slide a bit more as they come off the cushion with the

0:41:41 > 0:41:46new cloth. It's debatable whether the angles are on. They may have

0:41:46 > 0:41:50been yesterday. I know it sounds amazing to think that, but now with

0:41:50 > 0:41:56the slide off the third cushion that he's inevitably going to get, the

0:41:56 > 0:42:02line might not be there. That's the line he's looking for.

0:42:04 > 0:42:11Sliding off that third cushion.That shot's not on I don't think. Hitting

0:42:11 > 0:42:16it harder is not going to make too much difference I don't think.

0:42:16 > 0:42:20Inevitably going down that line, he might be leaving Judd that red into

0:42:20 > 0:42:25the left middle. He may be able to get past, he's got to get close to

0:42:25 > 0:42:30the red on the side cushion. Just got to get past it by a fraction.

0:42:30 > 0:42:33That's better, about the best he could have possibly done but he

0:42:33 > 0:42:40doesn't have the pace.Wow. He'll do well to find that same line again

0:42:40 > 0:42:43because he was so close to the green and he almost caught the red, the

0:42:43 > 0:42:47left side of the table.Strangely, getting as close as possible to that

0:42:47 > 0:42:52red on the left hand side cushion, if he were to flick it, he may get

0:42:52 > 0:42:58away with it.

0:42:59 > 0:43:08This time he does clip that red. APPLAUSE.

0:43:08 > 0:43:12It's not bad at all. There's one possible put to the right middle

0:43:12 > 0:43:19pocket but very difficult. He did well to get out of that situation.

0:43:19 > 0:43:22It was his fourth attempt.

0:43:24 > 0:43:29It's amazing how all of a sudden, from being in all sorts of trouble,

0:43:29 > 0:43:38he's at the table with a chance. Yes. He left Judd a missable pot.

0:43:38 > 0:43:46Judd felt he had to go for that.

0:43:49 > 0:43:56Tough to get that cue ball out into open play. Get through that lot... A

0:43:56 > 0:44:06load of goalkeepers there!

0:44:10 > 0:44:14Got the black out. What a show that is. Didn't think that was possible

0:44:14 > 0:44:26to get enough back spin on that. What a bonus.

0:44:37 > 0:44:44Red by the black spot would be nice to clear. Actually, perhaps it would

0:44:44 > 0:44:47have been - it's hard to know exactly how the black goes on the

0:44:47 > 0:44:55spot - it would have been nice to go on that straightaway.

0:44:56 > 0:44:58on that straightaway. The red is certainly going to interfere with

0:44:58 > 0:45:09the black. And it may even go on its spot.

0:45:10 > 0:45:13Actually, could have tried to get on the red straightaway.

0:45:33 > 0:45:39Can't be touching the red if it's respotted.Don't tell me it goes on

0:45:39 > 0:45:46the pink... Certainly doesn't go on the pink. OK so it's not the end of

0:45:46 > 0:45:51the world. He'd like that red off the black spot and the black back on

0:45:51 > 0:45:53its spot. That's the plan.

0:46:46 > 0:46:56He hasn't got used to the speed of the cushions yet.

0:47:08 > 0:47:12APPLAUSE.

0:47:16 > 0:47:23He's having to work hard for these. Hasn't got himself into the correct

0:47:23 > 0:47:27position just yet. Can he manage it this time?

0:47:40 > 0:47:43Just overscrewed that one as well. Fascinating from the commentary box

0:47:43 > 0:47:48how you see the game positionally. If he'd tried to get on the red that

0:47:48 > 0:47:52was by the black spot on the opening blue, none of these problems he's

0:47:52 > 0:47:57now got would possibly have materialised. But he's still

0:47:57 > 0:48:04fighting to keep position.

0:48:11 > 0:48:19On that red this time but not ideally.

0:48:27 > 0:48:34Oh, a good shot. APPLAUSE.

0:48:34 > 0:48:37Just another six inches or so and he'd have been perfect on the black

0:48:37 > 0:48:42to get up to the reds. Might still be able to do it, he's got, as we

0:48:42 > 0:48:47keep saying, terrific cue power. He'll get that short extension there

0:48:47 > 0:48:51just so that he can reach this. But there are two reds available if he's

0:48:51 > 0:48:55got the right ang toll screw back off this black but there is an awful

0:48:55 > 0:49:01lot of cue between the bridge hand and the object ball. Look where he

0:49:01 > 0:49:05is striking it. You could see the white stop and then spin back. In

0:49:05 > 0:49:12fact, he's hit it too well. But it was difficult to judge it with that

0:49:12 > 0:49:17extension. He hardly hit this but the action he got on it...Yes,

0:49:17 > 0:49:23putting that extra bit on the cue effectively making it heavier. Get a

0:49:23 > 0:49:31bit more spin on the ball if you are not careful. So end of break and a

0:49:31 > 0:49:33frustrating break from Kyren Wilson's perspective.

0:49:51 > 0:49:53APPLAUSE.

0:50:01 > 0:50:03Poor safety.

0:50:04 > 0:50:17He'd love to knock this one in Judd and punish him.

0:50:53 > 0:50:57Brought the red up this time. Needs the brown to help him out and I

0:50:57 > 0:51:00don't think it has.

0:51:03 > 0:51:12Just had to hit that much thicker than he intended. This is a huge day

0:51:12 > 0:51:16for Kyren Wilson, semi-final, OK he's won on ranking events a couple

0:51:16 > 0:51:20of seasons ago and the Shanghai Masters but this is probably one of

0:51:20 > 0:51:26the biggest matches of his career and you can expect a little bit of

0:51:26 > 0:51:33tension creeping in.

0:51:35 > 0:51:42Judd was clinical in his last match. In mopping up from a variety of

0:51:42 > 0:51:50situations. Still some work to do here.

0:51:50 > 0:51:58here.Getting correctly on the blue would be nice. Once again, underhit.

0:52:09 > 0:52:13Just the ride side of the blue and an excellent shot there. It really

0:52:13 > 0:52:15was good.

0:52:17 > 0:52:22Got the cue ball away from the cushion. He's in good nick, Judd

0:52:22 > 0:52:39Trump. He looks very clinical in these positions at the moment to me.

0:53:16 > 0:53:27That had to be controlled well. It's run a little bit too far.

0:53:27 > 0:53:29APPLAUSE.

0:53:34 > 0:53:40A confident strike but he didn't get enough screw back on that shoot. --

0:53:40 > 0:53:47shot. Dived off the cushion. Tough pot now.

0:53:47 > 0:53:57Oh, well done. APPLAUSE.

0:53:57 > 0:54:05Nice little flick to boot.

0:54:21 > 0:54:26Early days, but could this be the new Judd Trump, the more considered

0:54:26 > 0:54:30player? Still lethal amongst the balls at the end of a frame. Oh,

0:54:30 > 0:54:37kick! Awful. Awful.

0:54:37 > 0:54:40Wow, that is amazing.

0:54:40 > 0:54:46Outrageous.

0:54:46 > 0:54:56How crucial was that going to be. The yellow is awkward.

0:54:56 > 0:55:01The yellow is awkward. And the red not a given to start things off.

0:55:01 > 0:55:06Kyren misses a bonus in being at the table.

0:55:06 > 0:55:14APPLAUSE.

0:55:14 > 0:55:18Very, very good. This is key that he gets on the yellow in such a way

0:55:18 > 0:55:22that he can get on to the green. But wherever he finishes, he's going to

0:55:22 > 0:55:28have a difficult yellow.He's guaranteed to be on the yellow. It's

0:55:28 > 0:55:37just how. Two cushions nailed on. Wants to gets a close as possible

0:55:37 > 0:55:42really with an angle.

0:55:42 > 0:55:54APPLAUSE. Doesn't want to be straight.

0:56:07 > 0:56:12APPLAUSE.

0:56:13 > 0:56:26Every chance now of pinching this second frame.

0:56:30 > 0:56:38Kyren gets that horrendous kick on the pink. Then this.

0:56:38 > 0:56:47Blue and pink needed and that's absolutely perfect.

0:56:50 > 0:56:54We always say you never settle down until you get your first frame on

0:56:54 > 0:57:03the board. Judd was very, very unfortunate there.

0:57:03 > 0:57:11APPLAUSE. Very unlucky to get the kick on the

0:57:11 > 0:57:15pink, but he's got his first frame on the board now and they're all

0:57:15 > 0:57:15pink, but he's got his first frame on the board now and they're all

0:57:15 > 0:57:19square at 1-1. That was a little tense. That is why the players are

0:57:19 > 0:57:23leaving the arena, it gives you time to get in touch with us. Any

0:57:23 > 0:57:28questions and we are heading to the Cue Zone at the interval. Any

0:57:28 > 0:57:32comments and questions, we'd love to hear from you. A bit tense out

0:57:32 > 0:57:36there, John? You've got to feel for Judd there, that was an absolute

0:57:36 > 0:57:40monster kick, he looked like he'd win the frame so he'll be really

0:57:40 > 0:57:51annoyed. Haven't seen too many, that was a monster. Shouldn't really take

0:57:51 > 0:58:00players of this standard doing that. Kyren Wilson got in with a good

0:58:00 > 0:58:06chance. He's a little nervous, played a couple of shots that were

0:58:06 > 0:58:09safe. As Steve said, he should have played for the red immediately, it

0:58:09 > 0:58:13was on the black spot, played for the black, where the black was

0:58:13 > 0:58:15getting moved the other end of the table which was wrong, but sometimes

0:58:15 > 0:58:19when you want to get a frame, you play the safe positional shot,

0:58:19 > 0:58:23rather than the right one.You have been in this position many times,

0:58:23 > 0:58:26both players have been talking about how to handle the nerves because

0:58:26 > 0:58:29it's very different. They've had the first run, the quarter-finals, this

0:58:29 > 0:58:32is a different stage now isn't it, a semi-final, John, because you are so

0:58:32 > 0:58:36close?Yes, it's like they always say about the FA Cup, get to the

0:58:36 > 0:58:39semi-final, the worst place to lose, but you can't think like that, you

0:58:39 > 0:58:44have to keep playing the game the way it is. I think Judd Trump is

0:58:44 > 0:58:50best when he's being aggressive, a far better player. We don't need him

0:58:50 > 0:58:57to turn into cliff Thorburn but when he's at his best is opening up the

0:58:57 > 0:59:02balls, scoring heavily. He frightens opponents by going that way. Nothing

0:59:02 > 0:59:07more puts your opponents on the back foot. If he thinks if I don't get

0:59:07 > 0:59:13that cue ball, he's going to go for something. That puts your opponent

0:59:13 > 0:59:20in a position where they feel wary. It's a different match and a

0:59:20 > 0:59:24semi-final and you are not playing your natural game, would you say to

0:59:24 > 0:59:28yourself I should play the brand of snooker that I always play?He has

0:59:28 > 0:59:32to believe he's a better player and play to his strengths. If he's think

0:59:32 > 0:59:36Iing about, I would better play tight because I'm worried, that is

0:59:36 > 0:59:41the wrong attitude for me. Absolutely. He has to go with what

0:59:41 > 0:59:44he's good at. As for Kai reason, he was really struggling on that break.

0:59:44 > 0:59:50He's made a couple of breaks, 32 and 38 but the 38 was all over the

0:59:50 > 0:59:56place, he didn't have the cue ball at all -- Kyren. Scoring-wise, he

0:59:56 > 1:00:01needs the cue ball tighter.I suppose pre-match Kyren is probably

1:00:01 > 1:00:05thinking, let us see if I can slow Judd Trump down.He should be

1:00:05 > 1:00:08thinking about what he is good at. His cue ball control isn't there and

1:00:08 > 1:00:12when he's getting a break, it's looking more like when Judd is in

1:00:12 > 1:00:21he's going to score and going to be more fluent and Kyren is struggling.

1:00:21 > 1:00:25At this stage of an event like this, Judd Trump is more in the comfort

1:00:25 > 1:00:34zone than Kyren Wilson. The boys are back. Back to Steve and Dennis.

1:00:44 > 1:00:47Better learned this time with the break-off shot. Still left that red

1:00:47 > 1:00:56that he did. -- better length. Kyren knocked that in. I wonder if he can

1:00:56 > 1:01:04get around the back of the black and red this time?

1:01:07 > 1:01:15Terrific cueing. It really is. I think winning that second frame,

1:01:15 > 1:01:23pinching that second frame, as given Kyren a little bit of a boost.

1:01:23 > 1:01:35Cruel game, could have been 2- 02 Judd Trump.

1:01:38 > 1:01:44I think Judd will be advised to work out a better break off than that on

1:01:44 > 1:01:47this table today. He doesn't want to believing that one on, all of the

1:01:47 > 1:01:55time. -- be leaving. Once again, cannot hit the ball hard enough at

1:01:55 > 1:02:03the moment to get the right side.

1:02:10 > 1:02:16Had to leave a medium-range red. I think he has got enough angle to get

1:02:16 > 1:02:23position, but it is a bit awkward.

1:02:24 > 1:02:29He has had to use the other red.

1:02:30 > 1:02:34Well, he has a chance and he can can know is two reds and would be

1:02:34 > 1:02:41guaranteed to be on the one to the right of the black.

1:02:41 > 1:02:48Let the white take care of itself.

1:02:55 > 1:03:00Would have liked that cue ball to come back another ball.

1:03:04 > 1:03:11Just checking to see if they red goes into the right middle. If it

1:03:11 > 1:03:16does, what could he do with the cue ball?

1:03:16 > 1:03:20He will be tempted by this red in the middle. He will not be ideally

1:03:20 > 1:03:25placed on the pink. It is better than getting the spider out for the

1:03:25 > 1:03:31other red.

1:03:42 > 1:03:49A nasty cut into the middle pocket. It is more or less guaranteed where

1:03:49 > 1:03:55he is going to be playing it. Playing the pink into the middle

1:03:55 > 1:04:05pocket. Too much of a cut, as you can see.

1:04:39 > 1:04:47He did well, look at the pink. It jumps right of the bed of the table.

1:04:47 > 1:04:55Messed up the position part a bit.

1:05:02 > 1:05:14Not the red into the green pocket? A massive kick. I don't know which

1:05:14 > 1:05:23chalk these lads are using, they talk about new chalk and less kick.

1:05:38 > 1:05:47Didn't seem to line that one up. The red has poked its

1:05:49 > 1:05:57red has poked its nose out. Never on line for that one.

1:05:58 > 1:06:04Now, can Judd Trump get back in the zone after that unfortunate episode

1:06:04 > 1:06:10in the last frame? It is nice to clear your mind of that. You don't

1:06:10 > 1:06:19want to be thinking that you are on an unlucky day.

1:06:37 > 1:06:41I don't want to keep going on about it, it would be a commentator's

1:06:41 > 1:06:44blog, I think he is playing great at the moment. The way I judge him at

1:06:44 > 1:06:55the moment is a potential winner of this event. I know it is early days.

1:06:55 > 1:06:56Strong.

1:07:09 > 1:07:16There must be one of their next to the pink that pots.

1:07:23 > 1:07:26It finished a little awkward now, because if he drops the blue in, I

1:07:26 > 1:07:34don't think he can get that red in the left middle. He has to play with

1:07:34 > 1:07:42more pace. Which he has done, played it beautifully.

1:07:42 > 1:07:45it beautifully. If he can knock in a sizeable contribution here, he will

1:07:45 > 1:07:50quickly forget about that bad contact of the pig that cost him the

1:07:50 > 1:07:53second frame. -- pink.

1:08:05 > 1:08:08This is very nasty. He has to make sure he's comfortable before he

1:08:08 > 1:08:10plays this.

1:08:12 > 1:08:17He would be forgiven for not playing this, just because of the

1:08:17 > 1:08:20awkwardness of the blue in the way.

1:08:26 > 1:08:31Doing some stretching. He is quite a fit young man. This game makes your

1:08:31 > 1:08:35eyes water at times. He doesn't want to mess around with this too much.

1:08:35 > 1:08:39It puts the pressure onto pot it in the end. Perhaps working something

1:08:39 > 1:08:44else out on the red over the middle pocket, in this instance, is not a

1:08:44 > 1:08:50idea.

1:09:15 > 1:09:24He is a delight to watch brick building. He really is.

1:10:03 > 1:10:11Sluggish, that top cushion coming off very slow.

1:10:16 > 1:10:25Not sure if John Higgins or Mark Allen will be watching this match

1:10:25 > 1:10:31unfold. They have more important things in one respect to think

1:10:31 > 1:10:40about. But it is important to know the surface he will be playing on.

1:11:02 > 1:11:07That red might be next to the pink, but even if it is not, he could

1:11:07 > 1:11:11leave Kyren at the snookers required stage.

1:11:29 > 1:11:37So, the pink or black to leave Kyren needing a snooker.

1:11:37 > 1:11:41If the pink pots.

1:11:46 > 1:11:59The pink would put him 36 in front, with just 35 remaining.

1:12:05 > 1:12:08This red to make absolutely certain they can play it in such a way and

1:12:08 > 1:12:16screw in behind the pink. He can get the snooker or run it in as normal.

1:12:16 > 1:12:24Even if the red didn't go in, he would have the snooker.

1:12:24 > 1:12:26That looks good as well.

1:12:35 > 1:12:41It went absolutely true, that pink. It didn't deviate.

1:12:51 > 1:12:59A little bit of Judd Trump naughty snooker to finish off with.

1:13:18 > 1:13:23That is one way of getting on the pink.

1:13:23 > 1:13:34We nearly messed that. A terrific break from Judd Trump. That 83 has

1:13:34 > 1:13:45given him the lead.

1:14:38 > 1:14:44Two Some very interesting stats.

1:14:44 > 1:14:48It is such a big crowd, and it is taking a while to get them back into

1:14:48 > 1:14:52their seats after a frame, manoeuvring them around. Most of the

1:14:52 > 1:14:55week, sometimes the players have just got to wait a little bit longer

1:14:55 > 1:15:00for the start of the frame. But all week, the crowds have been

1:15:00 > 1:15:08fantastic. They really have. From day one. They really love their

1:15:08 > 1:15:13snooker and they are also very fair to all of the players. They have

1:15:13 > 1:15:16their favourites, but if you do it on the table, you get the respect

1:15:16 > 1:15:23from this Ally Pally crowd. There is the trophy.

1:15:38 > 1:15:46The interval is coming up after this frame. He would like it. But 3-1,

1:15:46 > 1:15:51best of 11, isn't that bad. But he doesn't want to let Judd get up a

1:15:51 > 1:15:52Head Of Steam.

1:16:07 > 1:16:17No damage done. At least I don't think so. Is there a gap? I don't

1:16:17 > 1:16:20know if there is.

1:16:27 > 1:16:32Kyren can play this in such a way to not leave a red on, which makes it

1:16:32 > 1:16:38easier.

1:16:44 > 1:16:47So, a little bit of pressure on Kyren to convert a decent chance. He

1:16:47 > 1:16:50hasn't done that yet.

1:17:04 > 1:17:09It's not all out in the open, but they are quite nicely situated. That

1:17:09 > 1:17:19red at the bottom of the pack could come in useful.

1:17:40 > 1:17:44Would like to be able to get on that red at the bottom of the pack to

1:17:44 > 1:17:56open up more red and get an angle on the black.

1:17:57 > 1:18:05Could go into the left-hand side of the pack for that red. Could use the

1:18:05 > 1:18:11red to break open even more red.

1:18:18 > 1:18:27That is the screw buckshot, pot the red, back across the face of the

1:18:27 > 1:18:29pack.

1:18:41 > 1:18:48Chose to come off the cushion Rather than playing it short.

1:19:12 > 1:19:23Very well executed there. Did well, not fully with the pot but with the

1:19:23 > 1:19:27cue ball.

1:19:32 > 1:19:36That was careless.

1:19:36 > 1:19:45Just watch this. Just didn't push the cue through on a straight line.

1:19:45 > 1:19:50I wonder if the red down in the bowled area was affecting his

1:19:50 > 1:19:56follow-through. He sort of curtailed it a bit. -- baulk area.

1:20:06 > 1:20:13Always aware of a ball in your follow-through area for the rest.

1:20:13 > 1:20:20Judd has the ideal angle to go into the reds. You would expect them to

1:20:20 > 1:20:25shift it. Just needs to get on one. It wasn't guaranteed. It wasn't a

1:20:25 > 1:20:33nice pack to go into.

1:20:42 > 1:20:47Could not have hit it better.Could have hit it harder, but I think he

1:20:47 > 1:20:54thought it was hard enough. In hindsight, he would have liked to

1:20:54 > 1:20:59have hit it harder.

1:20:59 > 1:21:03Doesn't hit that very hard. That was all he had available. Finished very

1:21:03 > 1:21:12awkward.

1:21:27 > 1:21:35He's not going for the pot, is he? He certainly is.Judgment shot, just

1:21:35 > 1:21:39has to get the judgment right. I don't think that Judd was expecting

1:21:39 > 1:21:45this.

1:21:46 > 1:21:56Well, was that the right shot to play?

1:21:58 > 1:22:07Normally brilliant with the rest, but he has missed two now.

1:22:15 > 1:22:19Second bite of the cherry for Judd Trump. How many can he score this

1:22:19 > 1:22:20time?

1:22:29 > 1:22:32Bonus if he is on this red.

1:22:36 > 1:22:41Thought he was going to be on the red over the corner. Has that gone

1:22:41 > 1:22:51wrong? Just about on the pink. Very much in the driving seat. If he can

1:22:51 > 1:22:58get this frame on the ball, Judd Trump.

1:23:04 > 1:23:09Wouldn't need the red on the baulk cushion, but he needs the ones that

1:23:09 > 1:23:13are together on the side cushion, as you can see. They do go into the

1:23:13 > 1:23:20left corner. One of them probably goes into the left middle. Both of

1:23:20 > 1:23:29them go into the left middle.

1:23:31 > 1:23:36At some stage in this break, you would expect Judd Trump to drop in

1:23:36 > 1:23:44behind the two reds. He won't want to drop in behind them.

1:24:04 > 1:24:07Another kick, destroyed the back spin.

1:24:37 > 1:24:40I think that pink has gone in an awkward position. Steve mentioned

1:24:40 > 1:24:44the two reds would go in the middle pocket, the pink is blocking that,

1:24:44 > 1:24:50as you can see. That is a few shots ahead. But Judd will be well aware

1:24:50 > 1:24:56of that now.

1:25:08 > 1:25:13It is just that the order of taking the balls has become more critical.

1:25:13 > 1:25:23Red, can he stay on the blue? It would be nice if he could.

1:25:33 > 1:25:36I'm not sure if they are available past the black into the left corner.

1:25:36 > 1:25:42He has other options here.

1:25:42 > 1:25:51That is all right.

1:25:54 > 1:26:03That was a big risk, playing it like that. Could easily have gone wrong.

1:26:03 > 1:26:09That wasn't good, totally misjudged that one.

1:26:18 > 1:26:32Now he is between. When you have that amount of cue power, it is

1:26:32 > 1:26:36coming round the table.

1:26:47 > 1:26:51It is the power that Judd Trump can inject into that keyboard that gives

1:26:51 > 1:27:02him more options all the time.

1:27:02 > 1:27:10him more options all the time. He has this strange idiosyncrasy.

1:27:12 > 1:27:14has this strange idiosyncrasy. When he is hitting it firmly, he seems to

1:27:14 > 1:27:24be able to judge it very well.

1:27:26 > 1:27:28What have you done there, Judd?

1:27:36 > 1:27:40He could have got over it and still been OK. If he takes the long pink,

1:27:40 > 1:27:43that would put him in front with 35 on the table. As long as he doesn't

1:27:43 > 1:27:49snooker himself on the red. You would think up to the corner would

1:27:49 > 1:27:55be the safer option. He only needs that, that is what he is looking at.

1:27:55 > 1:28:01With having a think about this.

1:28:01 > 1:28:12Putting the black safe and having a good snooker.

1:28:12 > 1:28:22If Kyren gets out of this and leaves it safe, you would be saying, well,

1:28:22 > 1:28:30potting that pink might have been the shot. But it is a difficult one.

1:28:30 > 1:28:37Still playing the percentages.

1:28:37 > 1:28:42The shot not to leave himself on the black was pretty poor. Can he hit

1:28:42 > 1:28:48this and get it safe? That is the big question. Can just get past the

1:28:48 > 1:28:56brown of the left-hand side cushion. Just.

1:28:59 > 1:29:13Foul and a miss.He got the black and the snooker. Free ball, is it?

1:29:13 > 1:29:19Perhaps it is not. Would have been nicer if it was a free ball. Kyren

1:29:19 > 1:29:22has one more chance to get out of jail here.

1:29:34 > 1:29:44Just enough, half a ball of this red off the side cushion.

1:29:49 > 1:29:54He's got a full house. He's 38 in front, Kyren now needs a snooker,

1:29:54 > 1:30:01he's got a free ball so his choice, just play the snooker and play the

1:30:01 > 1:30:10black safe.I wonder if the Judd Trump of old would have tried to pot

1:30:10 > 1:30:24the pink into the green pocket. Perhaps not, but...

1:30:24 > 1:30:25Perhaps not, but... Thinking carefully because there are still

1:30:25 > 1:30:30problems. You've got to play the pink to the middle pocket, you have

1:30:30 > 1:30:35to think to pot it, but is he working out something else? Trying

1:30:35 > 1:30:44to keep the lid on this frame. He may be overthinking it a little bit.

1:30:44 > 1:30:51Yes.It's worthwhile making your mind up first. Nothing worse than

1:30:51 > 1:30:56double thinking.

1:31:00 > 1:31:05Played the snooker at the same time. Clever shot. I think he played it.

1:31:05 > 1:31:11He played it like that. Trying to pot the pink but he knew full well

1:31:11 > 1:31:19putting the cue ball there was also a snooker.

1:31:26 > 1:31:32He's definitely going to be 3-1 behind now. As I say, with it being

1:31:32 > 1:31:43first to six, 3-1 behind is not ideal but it's not all that bad.

1:31:56 > 1:32:01I think the more worrying thing from Kyren Wilson's perspective is, he's

1:32:01 > 1:32:07been amongst the balls a few times and hasn't really made anything

1:32:07 > 1:32:12telling.

1:32:12 > 1:32:19These days, you are just not going to win matches without winning a

1:32:19 > 1:32:26huge amount of frames in one visit.

1:32:40 > 1:32:45He's a bit reluctant to pot the red here, but it makes it much more

1:32:45 > 1:32:48difficult, you don't get the free ball possibility.

1:32:50 > 1:32:59Couldn't do much else there. The blue and the pink are in ideal

1:32:59 > 1:33:02positions for snookers.

1:33:02 > 1:33:06I never like taking the red off the table when there's more than one

1:33:06 > 1:33:14snooker required.

1:33:17 > 1:33:27Perhaps he felt he didn't have a good safety shot on.

1:33:45 > 1:33:53Kyren Wilson. Eight.

1:34:04 > 1:34:11At the moment he needs two 4-point snookers to tie. They are nicely

1:34:11 > 1:34:24situated now. The pink trying to get in behind them.

1:34:26 > 1:34:31A pretty good effort. APPLAUSE.

1:34:31 > 1:34:41Terrific, terrific shot.

1:35:25 > 1:35:32I don't know the stats on it, but you don't win many frames from

1:35:32 > 1:35:36requiring two snookers. Far better usually to leave the red on the

1:35:36 > 1:35:43table, always options of free balls then.

1:35:57 > 1:36:03A decent effort. Could it get behind the pink?

1:36:03 > 1:36:10Tough to get behind that.

1:37:04 > 1:37:09A bit of a bonus, gets the snooker back. This might be the end of this

1:37:09 > 1:37:12frame, depending on what happens here. Where's the yellow going to

1:37:12 > 1:37:21finish? That's it. And Kyren looks over to Judd. He says, that's

1:37:21 > 1:37:29enough. Judd Trump very measured, Judd Trump, as we go to the mid

1:37:29 > 1:37:34session interval, we'll be very pleased, leading Kyren Wilson

1:37:34 > 1:37:34session interval, we'll be very pleased, leading Kyren Wilson 3-1.

1:37:34 > 1:37:39We have made a trip from the comfortable studio to a very cold

1:37:39 > 1:37:42Cue Zone, I have to say, a bit chilly here. We'll be back there

1:37:42 > 1:37:45shortly. Some of your questions coming in as well. Thank you very

1:37:45 > 1:37:49much for getting in touch on social media. We have to remember that Judd

1:37:49 > 1:37:53Trump was in front yesterday against Sean Murphy.Yes. Sliectly different

1:37:53 > 1:37:56match today. I think he's better with the cue ball at the minute.

1:37:56 > 1:38:01When he's in amongst the balls he looks like he's going to score the

1:38:01 > 1:38:05points. Kyren Wilson hasn't got the cue ball for whatever reason.Hasn't

1:38:05 > 1:38:11settled?Judd Trump just looks the more established and comfortable

1:38:11 > 1:38:14player, he looks the higher ranking player in every department. That

1:38:14 > 1:38:17counts for so much, that, the experience of being in a semi-final

1:38:17 > 1:38:22and being in these big events. Kyren's been around enough, he has

1:38:22 > 1:38:26won a ranking event. I know this is the Masters, but you would think

1:38:26 > 1:38:30he'd have enough experience, at the moment he's just not at it and when

1:38:30 > 1:38:35he's in amongst the balls, two or three shots and he's lost the cue

1:38:35 > 1:38:38ball, he's not tight in around the pink and black all the time which

1:38:38 > 1:38:44Judd looks better with.What can Kyren's camp do?I don't know

1:38:44 > 1:38:48whether he's practising at intervals or going and sitting in a quiet

1:38:48 > 1:38:53place but I think just get some reds around about the pink and black and

1:38:53 > 1:38:59some rhythm and control of the cue ball. And for you?Just the same.

1:38:59 > 1:39:02Don't change your game, don't get negative, keep doing what you are

1:39:02 > 1:39:06good at which is being open and attacking.Good yeses from the

1:39:06 > 1:39:10viewers, we look forward to those. We'll do some of those in a moment.

1:39:10 > 1:39:14Let's hear from Judd who has been talking to rod Walker. Back at the

1:39:14 > 1:39:20business end of a Triple Crown event and I get the feeling you are a man

1:39:20 > 1:39:28who thrives on these big pressure big stage occasions?Yes. I think

1:39:28 > 1:39:32I've always thrived on the atmosphere, playing in the big BBC

1:39:32 > 1:39:35events. I think over the past couple of seasons I've really struggled,

1:39:35 > 1:39:39maybe putting too much pressure on myself, and especially last season,

1:39:39 > 1:39:43I went out early in every single event so it wasn't nice watching it

1:39:43 > 1:39:47on TV. I think this season, especially in this tournament, I've

1:39:47 > 1:39:51kind of just tried to treat it like another tournament, rather than

1:39:51 > 1:39:55build it up to a massive event. That's when it goes wrong for me

1:39:55 > 1:40:00because I want to win it so bad, I put too much pressure on myself.

1:40:00 > 1:40:03When the games get tight, sometimes I think I put a lot of pressure on

1:40:03 > 1:40:07myself to make sure I win and get through and I kind of, not twitch

1:40:07 > 1:40:12up, but just want it too bad and miss something simple or run out of

1:40:12 > 1:40:16position whereas my two game s so far here have been very good when

1:40:16 > 1:40:21the pressure's come on, that's when I've hit my best.One thing I like

1:40:21 > 1:40:24about watching you is, of course you want to win the matches but there's

1:40:24 > 1:40:29a little bit of you that definitely cares about the style and the manner

1:40:29 > 1:40:32of the win. You like to entertain the public don't you? That is

1:40:32 > 1:40:37something that motivates you?Yes. I don't really take much enjoyment out

1:40:37 > 1:40:43of a bad win. I think when I take the shots on, especially at the

1:40:43 > 1:40:51Masters, I think they Prince of Wally appreciate it. When you hear a

1:40:51 > 1:40:56roar

1:40:56 > 1:41:03roar -- I think the public really appreciate it.Do you improvise when

1:41:03 > 1:41:08you are on the table and feel good and when you can sense that

1:41:08 > 1:41:13atmosphere from the crowd? It kind of just flows for me. In practise

1:41:13 > 1:41:17when no-one is looking, I play the same shots, so I think there are

1:41:17 > 1:41:22some points in games when I kind of get on a roll and it comes

1:41:22 > 1:41:26naturally. Some other players like to pot every single ball and make

1:41:26 > 1:41:29sure they don't miss, but I think I just like getting everyone on the

1:41:29 > 1:41:34edge of their seat at the end of the frame. It's always come naturally to

1:41:34 > 1:41:38me and it's probable something I'll always do.One thing that has been

1:41:38 > 1:41:42really nice this week is to see players getting further in the

1:41:42 > 1:41:46Masters than ever before. You have been in the semis before but it's a

1:41:46 > 1:41:49massive opportunity for you and Kyren to make a maiden Masters

1:41:49 > 1:41:55final. Although we cherish and respect the class of 92, it's great

1:41:55 > 1:41:58to see the younger players like you coming through and starting to

1:41:58 > 1:42:04dominate some of the Triple Crown events?Yes. It's always nice to see

1:42:04 > 1:42:08some of the younger players coming through and helping me out. Over the

1:42:08 > 1:42:12past six or seven seasons it was kind of just me and I think over the

1:42:12 > 1:42:16last two or three seasons now you have seen a lot of younger players

1:42:16 > 1:42:21coming out of their shell. There's not the same kind of pressure as

1:42:21 > 1:42:25when you do play the top players, so I think certainly over I would say

1:42:25 > 1:42:31the next two or three years, you will probably see the big change. I

1:42:31 > 1:42:35think the class of 92 are just on the edge now I think, just having

1:42:35 > 1:42:40one last burst cleaning up as much as they can. I think maybe in two or

1:42:40 > 1:42:44three seasons, I think you will see them probably fade away.

1:42:44 > 1:42:53We know from your accent that you are a proud Bristolian but this is

1:42:53 > 1:42:57down the road from your place in Essex now, does Essex now feel like

1:42:57 > 1:43:02your home and do you miss anything about Bristol?I've lived here for

1:43:02 > 1:43:05about eight years now in chilling well, Essex. I still probably get

1:43:05 > 1:43:09the feeling of home when I drive into Bristol, when I drive through

1:43:09 > 1:43:13the town centre. I think that will always be home for me but it would

1:43:13 > 1:43:18be nice to get home at some point in two or three years and move back to

1:43:18 > 1:43:22Bristol and spend time with my family and friends when I feel like

1:43:22 > 1:43:27I've fully established myself and done what I wanted to. So I think

1:43:27 > 1:43:31it's tough missing your family and friends but I feel like I've given

1:43:31 > 1:43:37snooker my very best shot, I've really dedicated myself over my

1:43:37 > 1:43:42prime 20-30, 35 and really given it my all.One area of your approach to

1:43:42 > 1:43:46snooker that's definitely improved over the years, and you say this

1:43:46 > 1:43:49yourself, is you're gaining a mental strength. The best example that I

1:43:49 > 1:43:53can remember of that is when you won the world Grand Prix a few years

1:43:53 > 1:43:59ago.I've always been quite good from behind I think. I've always had

1:43:59 > 1:44:05that belief in myself to come back against anyone, even when you're 5-1

1:44:05 > 1:44:10down, like 7-4 down against Ronnie, I've always felt if I get on a roll

1:44:10 > 1:44:16I can rattle off five or six frames easily. I feel like, especially in

1:44:16 > 1:44:19this tournament so far, I've just got the belief that when it gets

1:44:19 > 1:44:24close, I can step up the gear and get over the line. So I think I

1:44:24 > 1:44:28probably didn't have that at the start of my career, I just went into

1:44:28 > 1:44:31my shell when things got tough but now I think I have the grit and

1:44:31 > 1:44:34determination to get out there and succeed.

1:44:34 > 1:44:39Finally, now you are one of the very best in the world and fully

1:44:39 > 1:44:44established, do you still enjoy it? After all the travel, the pressure

1:44:44 > 1:44:48and interviews, is it still the sport that you took up when you

1:44:48 > 1:44:55first picked up a cue when you were a kid?I think at times it is. I

1:44:55 > 1:45:00think sometimes when you are playing in the small auditoriums in the

1:45:00 > 1:45:06qualifying, it can be very tough after you play in a massive event in

1:45:06 > 1:45:09front of 1,000 or 2,000 people, you go back and play in front of like

1:45:09 > 1:45:12ten people and there are eight other tables going on around you. But

1:45:12 > 1:45:19you've got to manage it. It's the same for everyone and I think, as

1:45:19 > 1:45:23you get older, you just kind of appreciate your success a lot more.

1:45:23 > 1:45:29I think when you get to the semi-final or a final of a

1:45:29 > 1:45:34tournament, for me, it's been quite... Over the past couple of

1:45:34 > 1:45:40seasons I've reached a lot of semis and finals, so to reach the

1:45:40 > 1:45:43semi-final of this event, the Masters or the Royal Championship,

1:45:43 > 1:45:48you have got to take it in and enjoy the moment because there is a lot of

1:45:48 > 1:45:51top players around and it doesn't happen all the time any more.Well,

1:45:51 > 1:45:56we are delighted that you have been banging 'em in this week. Long may

1:45:56 > 1:46:03it continue.Thank you very much.A very good interview from Rob Walker.

1:46:03 > 1:46:06Some questions to Stephen from Chris Sinclair who says what would a

1:46:06 > 1:46:10normal day's practise consist of back in the day?For me I used to

1:46:10 > 1:46:17get back in the snooker hall early, I had to brush and iron six tables,

1:46:17 > 1:46:2118 in there, three days they got cleaned, six tables, brushed and

1:46:21 > 1:46:25ironed, free light and I would be in there from about 11 o'clock playing,

1:46:25 > 1:46:30have lunch, a couple of hours off, then four or five hours after that.

1:46:30 > 1:46:35Two hours for lunch? No, an hour off for lunch then three or four more

1:46:35 > 1:46:40hour, home about six o'clock and the club around the corner I would

1:46:40 > 1:46:43probably play some more.Did you reach a point where you knew it was

1:46:43 > 1:46:46time to pack up the cue and go?When you were playing really good, the

1:46:46 > 1:46:50only thing you were going to to was miss, that was the time to say, I'll

1:46:50 > 1:46:55ease back. For any budding snooker players out there, what is your

1:46:55 > 1:47:01advice on practise? You have got to play as long as you are enjoying it.

1:47:01 > 1:47:04People start now at eight or nine years old. You have to enjoy the

1:47:04 > 1:47:11game. When you get to professional, you have to enjoy it. You have to

1:47:11 > 1:47:17treat it as a job almost when you are putting in so many hours. What

1:47:17 > 1:47:25he was your day like? Two or three hours, lunch, watched Neighbours, I

1:47:25 > 1:47:31always used to watch Nay four burrs, when it finished, I was back to the

1:47:31 > 1:47:36table -- Neighbours.Your favourite character?That was back in Scott

1:47:36 > 1:47:40and Charlene days, a long time ago. I once had lunch with Harold bishop.

1:47:40 > 1:47:46Claim to fame! And now look at me, standing next to you two! Mike

1:47:46 > 1:47:51Martin says, there are many left handed players that use the rest

1:47:51 > 1:47:54right-handed, Trump, and Hawkins, any players that do it the opposite

1:47:54 > 1:47:59way around.I can't think of one player. He's quite right. Quite a

1:47:59 > 1:48:05lot of left handers but then not the other way.Kai says, hello, I've had

1:48:05 > 1:48:10success with both but should I play with my natural cue action or to a

1:48:10 > 1:48:20routine? I'm stuck between the two at the moment.Obviously if you are

1:48:20 > 1:48:24not striking it properly putting aside the cue ball, perhaps you

1:48:24 > 1:48:30could go to a more manufacturered technique.You should be playing

1:48:30 > 1:48:33like you want to play, it's difficult to try to play like

1:48:33 > 1:48:38somebody else.As long as you are in a straight line at impact, that's

1:48:38 > 1:48:43all that matters.JP, in the studio we were talking during one of the

1:48:43 > 1:48:47frames about Kyren's stance, you spotted it and Duncan did as well

1:48:47 > 1:48:52and Duncan says, could the pundits discuss his stance because it

1:48:52 > 1:48:57appears to be toes in, a bit like skiing? He seems to have both knees

1:48:57 > 1:49:02bent as well. Mark King is like that as well. Generally most players will

1:49:02 > 1:49:06walk in with the right leg on the shot if they are right handed, put

1:49:06 > 1:49:10the other one naturally to the other side. It's slightly different what

1:49:10 > 1:49:15he's got but it doesn't stop him potting. What advice would you give

1:49:15 > 1:49:23the youngsters watching at home?I mean, you get the camera views to

1:49:23 > 1:49:27watch them this week, you can do worse than follow what the play, are

1:49:27 > 1:49:33doing this year.To both of you from Rory Forest asking this on live

1:49:33 > 1:49:37television, which one miss in your whole career most upset you still to

1:49:37 > 1:49:42this day? Is there one miss?I think mine has been well documented. We

1:49:42 > 1:49:48have spent a lot of time showing yours.I am pretty sure there will

1:49:48 > 1:49:55be.Did you miss?I've Blanked them. Nick says, good afternoon, any tips

1:49:55 > 1:49:59on how to keep your cue in good condition, I've been using bee wax

1:49:59 > 1:50:05over the past year and seems to be doing a good job?A damp cloth and a

1:50:05 > 1:50:10dry cloth is all I used. That's all you need. Sticky and dirty, just use

1:50:10 > 1:50:17that.No bee wax?

1:50:17 > 1:50:20that.No bee wax?Keeping your cue nice and clean, Lynn seed to feed

1:50:20 > 1:50:25the wood. But you don't have to go over the top.The final question

1:50:25 > 1:50:29from Dara who says, any suggestion on what tip shape to use for a

1:50:29 > 1:50:36beginner? Specifically for a beginner, any more forgiving than

1:50:36 > 1:50:40the others, mushroom tip, comb tip, how does it affect the relevant

1:50:40 > 1:50:46shots?When you get to a point where you are doing all the shots like

1:50:46 > 1:50:50screw shots, you are going to miss cue so it needs to be a bit round.

1:50:50 > 1:50:55Any tips on tips? That is it. Have a bit of domage going on and it will

1:50:55 > 1:51:00grab to the cue ball better. Make sure obviously, occasionally break

1:51:00 > 1:51:03up the leather on the top so it takes the chalk properly and away

1:51:03 > 1:51:08you go.Aren't we delighted some of my friends didn't call me when I had

1:51:08 > 1:51:12my phone out answering questions there! John Higgins against Mark

1:51:12 > 1:51:16Allen, this has the makings of being a real cracker tonight on BBC Two.

1:51:16 > 1:51:20Should be. They have really good matches. I've been privileged enough

1:51:20 > 1:51:25to commentate when these two have played a few times and generally

1:51:25 > 1:51:30it's been one little mistake. A couple of seasons ago there was a

1:51:30 > 1:51:33fantastic match, John Higgins just sneaked it. But Mark Allen is not

1:51:33 > 1:51:38afraid to play. In the head-to-head, Allen leads

1:51:38 > 1:51:443-0?Yes. Carry on from his match against O'Sullivan, you know, if he

1:51:44 > 1:51:47can keep winning frames in one visit, it will put John under a lot

1:51:47 > 1:51:51of pressure. John is a seasoned campaigner but he's not won this for

1:51:51 > 1:51:5612 years, so he might be desperate to win this week. When you look at

1:51:56 > 1:52:00Mark Allen and the way he's come through this, he threatens, that's

1:52:00 > 1:52:04the best way politely to describe it isn't it, he threatens damage in the

1:52:04 > 1:52:09latter stages of a tournament and never really sees it through. Have

1:52:09 > 1:52:12you seen a different Mark?He could do, he's playing well enough. The

1:52:12 > 1:52:15one thing you have to do is score. You are playing the best in the

1:52:15 > 1:52:21world and he's doing that. He's touching the pink and black spot.

1:52:21 > 1:52:26Talking about Kyren struggling. When you can score like he can, he's a

1:52:26 > 1:52:31match for anybody.Steve, one final question on John Higgins, you know

1:52:31 > 1:52:36him so well. We were talking about other sports, around your 30s, 35s,

1:52:36 > 1:52:41#40s, you start thinkingening OK maybe I need to hang up my cue,

1:52:41 > 1:52:47boots, whatever it is I do. How is it John Higgins continues to look

1:52:47 > 1:52:51like a top, top player? He's stepped back from the practise because there

1:52:51 > 1:52:54are so many tournaments. He's still better than most players around,

1:52:54 > 1:52:58simple as that though. The other thing is, if you play the right shot

1:52:58 > 1:53:01to a high standard all the time, that's going to mean you are going

1:53:01 > 1:53:05to be around a long time.It's about decision-making in practise?He's

1:53:05 > 1:53:09one of the best match players, if you keep playing the right shot to a

1:53:09 > 1:53:12high standard, you will still win tournaments.Thank you very much

1:53:12 > 1:53:17indeed Steve and John and thank you for answering the viewers' questions

1:53:17 > 1:53:20as well, brilliant, thank you very much. Keep them coming. A semi-final

1:53:20 > 1:53:25on our hands now, back to the very warm and comfortable television

1:53:25 > 1:53:28studio, let's hand you back to Denis and Steve.

1:53:28 > 1:53:35studio, let's hand you back to Denis and Steve.

1:53:35 > 1:53:40and Steve. Thank you, Jason. Judd gets this first frame after the mid

1:53:40 > 1:53:43session interval under way and he's still left that red for the left

1:53:43 > 1:53:45corner.

1:54:00 > 1:54:07Maybe he can get his confidence up straightaway after the interval.

1:54:08 > 1:54:10APPLAUSE.

1:54:13 > 1:54:14Big bounce.

1:54:15 > 1:54:20Might be able to take the yellow and it looks as if there are two reds

1:54:20 > 1:54:25between the black and the little bunch of reds. If he could get on

1:54:25 > 1:54:29one of those, he could really give himself a chance. You can see what

1:54:29 > 1:54:32he's faced with, but can he get the white into the correct place. He's

1:54:32 > 1:54:36got the one to the right of the pink and reds.

1:54:44 > 1:54:46The loose one he's played for this time.

1:55:07 > 1:55:17No. It's not quite happening for Kyren at the moment.

1:55:17 > 1:55:22Just the yellow, the way he played it, he could have left himself a

1:55:22 > 1:55:27little better on a rod. Judd when he plays with the rest changes hands.

1:55:27 > 1:55:34Plays right handed with the rest.

1:55:43 > 1:56:00I know it's the best of 11 but Kyren has a tall order here.

1:57:07 > 1:57:10A wee bit unlucky to flick the black and finish tight at the baulk

1:57:10 > 1:57:16cushion. He's potted some terrific long pots into both corner pockets.

1:57:16 > 1:57:24His position's let him down a little bit this afternoon.

1:57:31 > 1:57:35Kyren has his wife Sophie with him here. Just had a brief chat with

1:57:35 > 1:57:44her. He's got a three-year-old son now. That's Sophie there.

1:57:44 > 1:57:48now. That's Sophie there. They have a 16-week O-levelled baby too. He's

1:57:48 > 1:57:54called Bailey. -- 16-week old.

1:57:54 > 1:58:02APPLAUSE.

1:58:07 > 1:58:11That is a bit of a nightmare.

1:58:29 > 1:58:39Beautiful shot.It looks so simple but that takes some play. It's a

1:58:39 > 1:58:44deliberate Miskiw... Have a look at this, you don't see it very often.

1:58:44 > 1:58:50Ian McCullough from Preston used to do that. You've got to hit the ball

1:58:50 > 1:58:52with the tip of the cue.

1:58:56 > 1:59:02Actually, I think you've got to hit the ball with the tip. I'll have to

1:59:02 > 1:59:11think about that.I'll leave that one with you.Yeah, thanks!Yes, he

1:59:11 > 1:59:16decided to start again. It was a bit of a stalemate so a good decision.

1:59:16 > 1:59:22It wasn't going anywhere, that.

1:59:23 > 1:59:30Still thinking about that? No, no. You have to hit it with the tip, I

1:59:30 > 1:59:37think.

1:59:38 > 1:59:42Judd's got his family here, his dad Steve and Georgina and his

1:59:42 > 1:59:54girlfriend here as well. It's nice when you have the support with you.

1:59:54 > 2:00:01That's Judd's parents and girlfriend there. It's gone very quiet in the

2:00:01 > 2:00:09Ally Pally at the moment.

2:00:27 > 2:00:35Can he get a better break-off shot this time?

2:00:35 > 2:00:44It's certainly opened the reds up, that is Fisher.

2:00:46 > 2:00:54-- that is for sure.

2:01:24 > 2:01:25A nice safety shot from Judd Trump.

2:01:32 > 2:01:37Cuff off the right-hand side of the table and left Kyren with a tricky

2:01:37 > 2:01:41safety shot back. He has got to catch this outside red pretty thin

2:01:41 > 2:01:52to avoid wobbling in the jaws of the top left corner pocket.

2:01:55 > 2:02:04It looks like that is probably the right shot, the containing safety.

2:02:27 > 2:02:34Has he left a tempter into the right middle, with an element of safety

2:02:34 > 2:02:43involved for Judd Trump? What a great shot this is.

2:02:44 > 2:02:50I think Kyren played the safety shot. He could have played across

2:02:50 > 2:02:54the face of the red and he would not have left this red on. I don't think

2:02:54 > 2:03:04he even thought about the middle pocket.

2:03:04 > 2:03:11Playing match snooker at the moment, Judd. Don't want to go on about it,

2:03:11 > 2:03:18but very impressed.

2:03:25 > 2:03:33That is a shocker from Judd. Cued across that one. He will go back to

2:03:33 > 2:03:36his seat and he will not be very pleased as we show you this shot

2:03:36 > 2:03:46again.Something Stephen Hendrie picked up on, Judd prefers to stun

2:03:46 > 2:03:51the ball, rather than roll them. Because of that idiosyncratic action

2:03:51 > 2:03:55of going across the ball, perhaps that cue, when he hits the ball

2:03:55 > 2:04:01slower, he does not get as well online as when he is punching them.

2:04:01 > 2:04:06This is tough. Bridging over that red is making the shot a lot harder.

2:04:19 > 2:04:25Terrific cueing from that awkward position. That positional shot,

2:04:25 > 2:04:28there is a red, a couple of reds, but the right-hand one is available

2:04:28 > 2:04:35for the right corner.

2:04:36 > 2:04:40Lots of side to swing the white up towards the red, and he has played

2:04:40 > 2:04:41pretty well.

2:04:58 > 2:05:02He wanted a slightly more angled one on the black and he could have

2:05:02 > 2:05:10cannoned into the red and been guaranteed to be on the one next to

2:05:10 > 2:05:13the white.

2:05:13 > 2:05:23That developed definitely one more red. This would be nice for Wilson

2:05:23 > 2:05:29to make a telling break, punishing Judd for the mistake, make a

2:05:29 > 2:05:36statement.

2:05:37 > 2:05:40Just couldn't open those reds up as nicely from that straight on

2:05:40 > 2:05:45position. Got a bit more movement of the pack. Still some work to do in

2:05:45 > 2:05:54that department.

2:05:57 > 2:06:00If he got the correct angle, the blue would not be a bad ball to go

2:06:00 > 2:06:04into the pack from. But I don't think he has got it here.

2:06:18 > 2:06:22Time for Kyren to go to work. His highest break so far has only been

2:06:22 > 2:06:2938.

2:06:32 > 2:06:36He hit that harder than he wanted. He should have been better for this

2:06:36 > 2:06:41red on the right middle pocket. He could have played for the red on the

2:06:41 > 2:06:44left-hand side cushion first. But he chose this shot well out of

2:06:44 > 2:06:46position.

2:06:49 > 2:06:59That is a great recovery. One good shot, as we show you this terrific

2:06:59 > 2:07:12pot from that angle. One good cannon and he can really open the game.

2:07:19 > 2:07:23Heat played that almost perfectly, other than overheating at a

2:07:23 > 2:07:29fraction. That was understandable.

2:07:32 > 2:07:37Just cleared the cue ball from the reds. Nicely played. Could have

2:07:37 > 2:07:45stuck in those reds. Greater chance now. You get the feeling that he

2:07:45 > 2:07:48must convert. He's got to start stamping his authority on this

2:07:48 > 2:07:55match.

2:08:26 > 2:08:30Judd will have something to think about after missing that sitter of a

2:08:30 > 2:08:40red into the left corner. This was the one.

2:08:50 > 2:08:59Screwed that back a little bit further than he intended.

2:09:10 > 2:09:25He played that well. Tantalisingly close to the finish line. A couple

2:09:25 > 2:09:33of reds and he is over the line.

2:09:41 > 2:09:43Just hoping for a good split here.

2:09:53 > 2:10:00Lost the cue ball.

2:10:06 > 2:10:15This is a key pot coming up. It is a very difficult one. Just needs the

2:10:15 > 2:10:28red to leave Judd leaving a snooker.

2:10:32 > 2:10:42Terrific. You can't hit the ball any better than that from that close to

2:10:42 > 2:10:48the cushion.

2:10:48 > 2:10:51the cushion. We would call that a John Parrott special. One of the

2:10:51 > 2:10:55best in the business.

2:11:05 > 2:11:11He will be feeling much better now, Kyren, this is more like it. Winning

2:11:11 > 2:11:22the frame with one visit.

2:11:24 > 2:11:30A bit unlucky. Will be very difficult to make the century unless

2:11:30 > 2:11:33he can cut this to the right corner.

2:11:37 > 2:11:46Just overcut that. But he will not be too concerned. Careless mistake,

2:11:46 > 2:11:49and Kyren Wilson did what he had to do and won the frame with one visit,

2:11:49 > 2:11:55with a break of 81. He is now just one behind.

2:11:55 > 2:12:04A whole new reflection on the game. Perfect response? Now we are

2:12:04 > 2:12:08talking. In one visit, OK, the cue ball was not brilliant. There was

2:12:08 > 2:12:12one shot where he lost it and potted a screaming red in the middle

2:12:12 > 2:12:16pocket, another good one off the side cushion. To win in one visit,

2:12:16 > 2:12:20that is what he had to do.He has been talking about not just mixing

2:12:20 > 2:12:24up his game in terms of safety, when he gets in, taking opportunities?

2:12:24 > 2:12:30That is what you have to do at this level. You can win frames in two

2:12:30 > 2:12:32three visits. OK, you are winning the frames. Nothing but your

2:12:32 > 2:12:37opponent under pressure like winning it in one visit. Judd will be

2:12:37 > 2:12:42disgusted with that red he missed. You are in a position where it is

2:12:42 > 2:12:45time to put your authority on to the match, put the hammer down. To miss

2:12:45 > 2:12:46that is unforgivable.

2:12:50 > 2:12:55Yesterday, let's not forget that Judd Trump was in front? If he had

2:12:55 > 2:13:00been playing Stephen EU Steve Davis, they would not be missing up a 3-1,

2:13:00 > 2:13:06I can guarantee. The art of being a front runner is keeping your

2:13:06 > 2:13:09concentration and the job in hand is just to keep your opponent down,

2:13:09 > 2:13:16keep punishing them. He has given Kyren Wilson a lifeline. Fair play,

2:13:16 > 2:13:21he has taken it and will be feeling great.

2:13:21 > 2:13:28That is the keyword, concentration. Does that travel Judd, he sees 3-1

2:13:28 > 2:13:32and he relaxes too much? The fact that he has not won when he should

2:13:32 > 2:13:35have done, it means there are serious problems with concentration

2:13:35 > 2:13:38and focus. He is a massive underachiever when you look at the

2:13:38 > 2:13:42talent he has got. Missing balls like that when you are 3-1 up, if he

2:13:42 > 2:13:46goes on to lose this match, I know it is one shot, but you look at it

2:13:46 > 2:13:50as the start of the downfall.That is what you're talking about?He has

2:13:50 > 2:13:55an idiosyncratic

2:13:57 > 2:14:00an idiosyncratic flaw, when he plays the slow roles, his cue action gets

2:14:00 > 2:14:06affected. That is why he prefers to punch it. Sometimes he can cue right

2:14:06 > 2:14:13across, and that was an example. What noticeably that has achieved so

2:14:13 > 2:14:17much, like you, we're talking about somebody that obviously has genuine

2:14:17 > 2:14:21natural talent, but he that psychological edge?Yes, it is

2:14:21 > 2:14:27something that you cannot just... You can't really teach that. If you

2:14:27 > 2:14:31haven't got that killer instinct to pound your opponents, time after

2:14:31 > 2:14:38time, sometimes he does he doesn't do it consistently enough.I am the

2:14:38 > 2:14:42unluckiest man in the world, I got the two of them, one after the

2:14:42 > 2:14:46other, I got Steve Davis and hem. They would not give you the steam.

2:14:46 > 2:14:53That marks out the best sportsmen and women in the industry. You

2:14:53 > 2:14:57lovely fellows now, you have no idea what it was like to play them.I am

2:14:57 > 2:15:03glad I met them at this stage of my life.

2:15:03 > 2:15:09The steam?

2:15:12 > 2:15:22Not a great break-off shot.

2:15:25 > 2:15:29It's an amazing game, isn't it? Missed a sitter in the previous

2:15:29 > 2:15:32frame and then just gets down and knocks it in as if it was over the

2:15:32 > 2:15:38pocket.

2:15:38 > 2:15:42Floated that one in and then nothing wrong with judging the cue action on

2:15:42 > 2:15:50that shot.

2:16:12 > 2:16:18A nice way to get the confidence up again after missing a

2:16:18 > 2:16:30straightforward shot would be to get in a big break here.

2:16:30 > 2:16:41It is one of the great attributes the top players have.

2:17:02 > 2:17:06A little bit short of pace for ideal position on the blue to go into the

2:17:06 > 2:17:12pack at speed. He would have to really annihilate this to get...

2:17:12 > 2:17:17Which he can do. It was harder to get an ideal contact on that apex

2:17:17 > 2:17:19red.

2:17:32 > 2:17:38There is a red that goes.Never say that when Judd Trump is at the

2:17:38 > 2:17:44table!

2:18:06 > 2:18:17Good safety needed here.

2:18:25 > 2:18:29Judd may be playing the right shot, but the red is going to go to the

2:18:29 > 2:18:34right corner area.

2:18:36 > 2:18:38right corner area. Played a different shot. A bit unlucky to get

2:18:38 > 2:18:42that read coming over there. -- that red. It wasn't really anything he

2:18:42 > 2:18:48could have foreseen.

2:18:48 > 2:18:52It is all about the cue ball. He is pretty good at this kind of pot. The

2:18:52 > 2:18:57white is going to go towards the pink and red. You would think you

2:18:57 > 2:19:05would be guaranteed to be on a colour.

2:19:11 > 2:19:23He is on a colour and knocked the red over the pocket.

2:19:27 > 2:19:29The black might go past the red.

2:19:42 > 2:19:46Could get the black on the spot again. He has refused to play red

2:19:46 > 2:19:53and blue here.

2:20:00 > 2:20:07Would like to have been a bit closer to the black. This isn't 100%

2:20:07 > 2:20:08certain.

2:20:22 > 2:20:26I think it is three he has messed with the rest. As I say, he is one

2:20:26 > 2:20:30of the best in the business with it. I am surprised he has missed that

2:20:30 > 2:20:38many. A shake of the head, telling you what he thinks of it.The

2:20:38 > 2:20:48initial green wasn't very good. Excellent shot from Judd Trump.

2:20:49 > 2:20:56The mind games start. Can Judd punish Kyren for a mistake,

2:20:56 > 2:21:03relatively simple at this level.

2:21:23 > 2:21:31Never in doubt, even though there were

2:21:31 > 2:21:34were a few oohs and aahs in the crowd.

2:21:37 > 2:21:45Could risk going into the pack, players would not like to do that

2:21:45 > 2:21:54gambling on the outcome. Can get past the pink, but that is OK.

2:22:09 > 2:22:15Very nicely played.

2:22:37 > 2:22:41This is Judd's eighth appearance at the Masters. He has had two

2:22:41 > 2:22:50semifinals, and he's looking to get into his first-ever Masters final.

2:22:59 > 2:23:02Will have to do something very careless not to clinch this frame

2:23:02 > 2:23:07here. But we saw what happened in the previous frame.

2:23:24 > 2:23:27You can see the cue goes across it a little bit, but that is the way he

2:23:27 > 2:23:34has always played.

2:23:41 > 2:23:45It would be nigh on impossible for Judd Trump to go back to basics and

2:23:45 > 2:23:52rectify that, if he considered it a problem.

2:23:52 > 2:23:55problem. Makes a mockery of the technique book, really, doesn't it,

2:23:55 > 2:24:00when you see a player going across the face of the ball. Bit out of

2:24:00 > 2:24:11position on this one. Good response from Judd Trump.

2:24:13 > 2:24:16Effortlessly, really. Perhaps this frame to bed.

2:24:26 > 2:24:31Must admit, I get the feeling that every player probably comes here

2:24:31 > 2:24:36hoping to win the event. Judd Trump has come here looking to win this

2:24:36 > 2:24:43Masters, not hoping.

2:24:54 > 2:24:57He had his chance there.

2:25:14 > 2:25:23We have had 24 centuries in this year's Dafabet Masters.

2:25:24 > 2:25:32year's Dafabet Masters. Judd has had two already, this will be his third.

2:25:32 > 2:25:39He has made 504 in his career. What about this for a figure? He made 70

2:25:39 > 2:25:45last season, already on 45 this season. One of the game's greatest

2:25:45 > 2:25:46break-builders.

2:26:00 > 2:26:06A bit short on the pink. Is he going to play some naughty snooker to get

2:26:06 > 2:26:10on the black? Of course he is. All of the way round. He needs to hit

2:26:10 > 2:26:22that hard. He will need to float the black. Double?

2:26:25 > 2:26:33Up and down the table, no century break.

2:26:33 > 2:26:37break. Kyren made one mistake, and Judd made that break of 96. He now

2:26:37 > 2:26:40leads by two frames. 4-2.

2:26:44 > 2:26:48Kyren had a great chance. He was in the balls. As I say, very unusual

2:26:48 > 2:26:52for him to have missed three shots with a rest. There was enough room

2:26:52 > 2:26:55for the black to go. He just hit it a little bit harder than he probably

2:26:55 > 2:27:04needed to. I tell you what, he had a terrific chance to level up at 3-3.

2:27:04 > 2:27:10Yes, basically halted his progress back into the match. Sometimes it is

2:27:10 > 2:27:22all about momentum. Back to square one. Two frames behind.

2:27:23 > 2:27:30one. Two frames behind.Lots of pressure on both players. Judd

2:27:30 > 2:27:38looking to get into the final, he has had two semifinals and this is

2:27:38 > 2:27:41the one he wants to get under his belt. He has the UK title, the two

2:27:41 > 2:27:46he would love to get this one and the World Championship, the three

2:27:46 > 2:27:54big ones, as we say. He is playing solid enough. Just the odd mistake.

2:27:54 > 2:27:57He has a two frame advantage. He has Kyren Wilson right under pressure

2:27:57 > 2:28:04here.

2:28:10 > 2:28:17Frame seven.

2:28:27 > 2:28:31This time he has made a good break of shot. He hasn't left the one for

2:28:31 > 2:28:36the left corner.

2:28:41 > 2:28:47Putting a bit more pace into that break of.

2:28:56 > 2:29:03Tough one for Kyren. Looks like he has the path through the gap. Got to

2:29:03 > 2:29:05be pleased with that.

2:29:12 > 2:29:16Judd tapping the table, because Kyren had to play that with a little

2:29:16 > 2:29:21bit of side, to swerve that.Judd has the same type of shot if he

2:29:21 > 2:29:27should wish. Not a nice pot to have. The same path for the cue ball. He

2:29:27 > 2:29:30caught that a bit thicker. In that case, it is going to be better

2:29:30 > 2:29:40placed behind the yellow, the brown.

2:29:41 > 2:29:44On first glance, maybe an even bigger problem for Kyren from this

2:29:44 > 2:29:55shot. How on earth can he get back down the table? I can't see a path.

2:29:55 > 2:30:00He will think about it and he might have to come off a couple of

2:30:00 > 2:30:07cushions, to get to the black spot. He could just nestle into the side

2:30:07 > 2:30:11of the reds. He is giving that quite a bit of thought. What has he

2:30:11 > 2:30:16spotted here? Not much to look at.I think two cushions, as you say, do

2:30:16 > 2:30:26hit the red by the black spot, that is probably going to be OK.

2:30:28 > 2:30:34Let us see what he has spotted here. What has he spotted? He can drop on

2:30:34 > 2:30:42it dead weight. He's got to make sure it doesn't roll off.It's

2:30:42 > 2:30:48rolled off a fraction and he's left a red.No, he hasn't. Thought for a

2:30:48 > 2:30:55minute he had... Underhit it enough that he left a red on.

2:31:08 > 2:31:13The ball might have rolled off a fraction but then could be on a

2:31:13 > 2:31:22finger mark.Got to be absolutely spot on with it though. He was more

2:31:22 > 2:31:28or less playing full ball on to the red, to the left of the pink, so not

2:31:28 > 2:31:31too sure that white is in exactly the same position. Perhaps it is

2:31:31 > 2:31:36now.

2:31:36 > 2:31:43We have got a top referee there.

2:31:45 > 2:31:50He will play the same shot again. He will hit it that bit harder and it

2:31:50 > 2:32:00would still be OK.

2:32:01 > 2:32:09would still be OK. Let us see if Kyren can play the roll up again

2:32:09 > 2:32:11successfully.

2:32:13 > 2:32:18What is he looking at here? Not a three-ball plant, that's madness

2:32:18 > 2:32:21isn't it, surely, or a route to madness.

2:32:29 > 2:32:33Play the same shot, you get another go at it, then you have to do

2:32:33 > 2:32:43something different because it's a shot and a miss, something awarding.

2:32:52 > 2:33:01We weren't making funny jokes, but never mind.

2:33:20 > 2:33:24Well, I'm sure he should have definitely played the same shot

2:33:24 > 2:33:31again. Why take that on? !

2:33:38 > 2:33:44Even though there was a disturbance to Kyren's concentration, it was

2:33:44 > 2:33:47more the decision to take the plant on which was questionable. Just

2:33:47 > 2:33:56didn't think it was the right shot.

2:33:58 > 2:34:06The plant is either guaranteed to be on or not.

2:34:07 > 2:34:11on or not.Great chance for Judd Trump to really put the boot in.

2:34:14 > 2:34:16OK, the black spot's tied up a bit.

2:35:17 > 2:35:25Judd Trump clinically going about his work here so far.

2:35:27 > 2:35:33He's got a few problems to solve later on.

2:35:43 > 2:35:48Bounce off the cushion there but still OK. Had every chance to go

2:35:48 > 2:35:55into a 5-2 lead and, well, Kyren Wilson would have to have all

2:35:55 > 2:35:58remaining frames then. He's just let the white slip a little further away

2:35:58 > 2:36:04there.

2:36:04 > 2:36:07there. No problem with the pot, just means it's a little more difficult

2:36:07 > 2:36:18with the cue ball.

2:36:42 > 2:36:54Well, out of position and not as easy as it looks on the TV screen.

2:36:54 > 2:37:02APPLAUSE. Made to look a lot easier than it

2:37:02 > 2:37:08was across the table.

2:37:31 > 2:37:37All a bit congested there around the black, he picked a nice one out and

2:37:37 > 2:37:41he has choices here, he can bring that black into play. He can play it

2:37:41 > 2:37:46forward for the pink. He had options there. And with a 52-point

2:37:46 > 2:37:52advantage, didn't want to be risking that little cannon there.

2:38:10 > 2:38:17He did that with Sean Murphy and he finished that match in fine style.I

2:38:17 > 2:38:20really do think Kyren should have had another go at rolling up to the

2:38:20 > 2:38:23red before he played that plant, if that was the only thing he could

2:38:23 > 2:38:28see.

2:38:31 > 2:38:36see. He wasn't guaranteed to have won the frame, but it now looks very

2:38:36 > 2:38:43likely.Just a quick glance at the score board, one more red and colour

2:38:43 > 2:38:49would be enough.

2:38:56 > 2:39:02She was himself a little tricky there with the pink.

2:39:04 > 2:39:06Still a possible 67 on the table.

2:39:19 > 2:39:32And that is the frame safe you would have to say.

2:39:49 > 2:39:56Doesn't really matter at this stage that he's run out of position. Balls

2:39:56 > 2:40:00all over the table, but that doesn't matter.

2:40:03 > 2:40:10An unexpected chance. If Kyren played that amazing plant, it might

2:40:10 > 2:40:13have been different. He only needs one more to get into the final, Judd

2:40:13 > 2:40:19Trump.Yes, he is closing in on his first Masters final appearance. But

2:40:19 > 2:40:25the big talking point has to be, on on earth was Kyren Wilson doing?I

2:40:25 > 2:40:29have absolutely no idea. As a percentage shot, less than 10%, he's

2:40:29 > 2:40:33trying to hit this 100mph, get a plant on to the red that goes into

2:40:33 > 2:40:37the corner. There's just absolutely no value in that whatsoever. He

2:40:37 > 2:40:41could stay there a month and he wouldn't get that.I suppose it's

2:40:41 > 2:40:42what we

2:40:42 > 2:40:44wouldn't get that.I suppose it's what we have talked about Why would

2:40:44 > 2:40:48you play a shot like that when you are playing against Judd Trump whose

2:40:48 > 2:40:51strength is very much walking up to a table and thinking, well, this is

2:40:51 > 2:40:56just food and drink to me.It's rich coming from me going for a crazy

2:40:56 > 2:41:01shot but I fail to see the reason of that at all. It doesn't matter who

2:41:01 > 2:41:15you are playing at all, it just seemed to be a shot of desperation.

2:41:15 > 2:41:22At 4-2 up, a fraction, you can say, but even then...I can't even see

2:41:22 > 2:41:314-2 up. There's no value in it.Also Johns specially given what is at

2:41:31 > 2:41:39stake?He's obviously talked himself into it but he should have tried to

2:41:39 > 2:41:43play the roll up again. Whichever way it was, I mean look at this,

2:41:43 > 2:41:48there is two foot between the plant he's playing on to the other one.

2:41:48 > 2:41:54Honestly, it's...You see the look on his face, it's almost like a

2:41:54 > 2:41:58resignation of, not the match, but it's like a shot of, you know,

2:41:58 > 2:42:01basically I just can't think of anything else so I'm just going to

2:42:01 > 2:42:05do this and see what happens. The boys in commentary were saying there

2:42:05 > 2:42:11may have been a distraction, but certainly at this level...With a

2:42:11 > 2:42:17bit of luck it might have distracted him from playing the shot but he

2:42:17 > 2:42:20didn't. It's lovely when you have been presented with a chance like

2:42:20 > 2:42:23that, there's no effort in that frame for Judd, everything was put

2:42:23 > 2:42:27in front of him.Judd's just walked back in, a glance at the score board

2:42:27 > 2:42:31as well. He knows what is at stake, one frame away from a place in the

2:42:31 > 2:42:33final.

2:42:33 > 2:42:41one frame away from a place in the final.

2:42:43 > 2:42:49Kyren gets this eighth frame under way.

2:42:49 > 2:43:07He's got to win four in a row. Very tall order.

2:43:35 > 2:43:42Cutting off both escape lines.

2:44:03 > 2:44:08As a left hander, he can take this in and go for the black. I think

2:44:08 > 2:44:19that is what he will attempt.

2:44:47 > 2:44:54Good chance to pot this and get on a baulk colour.

2:45:07 > 2:45:16Same for this shot. No guarantees though that Judd will play the pot.

2:45:30 > 2:45:39Kyren had another look at the plant earlier from the side cushion and he

2:45:39 > 2:45:46spotted three-ball or four-ball plants. I don't think... There's a

2:45:46 > 2:45:50four-ball line-up that's never going to go in. Perhaps he's checking from

2:45:50 > 2:45:57a safety perspective.

2:46:02 > 2:46:09The black is in an awkward spot to come down the table.

2:46:16 > 2:46:26That is why he's gone down the other side but hit it far too thick.

2:46:28 > 2:46:36Dropped his head as he played the shot.

2:46:36 > 2:46:44shot. Judd looks like he can play a stun to the same position.

2:47:07 > 2:47:13Cut off the escape route. The black in the way at the other side so he's

2:47:13 > 2:47:23got to be careful not to catch the black.

2:47:32 > 2:47:46Might send one over the right corner pocket. A couple of problems here.

2:47:47 > 2:47:50APPLAUSE.

2:47:50 > 2:47:55Looked at that a few times. In the end, you don't see it very often but

2:47:55 > 2:48:04that was a four-ball plat that you just witnessed.

2:48:05 > 2:48:10just witnessed. Could have played that at an earlier stage, I suppose.

2:48:39 > 2:48:45It's far from straightforward here.

2:48:59 > 2:49:06A wee bit unlucky. He's got the yellow as an alternate. One ball

2:49:06 > 2:49:09less travelling and he could have potted the blue and tried to develop

2:49:09 > 2:49:19the pink.

2:49:43 > 2:49:52By no means guaranteed the right way to go about things but... Can keep

2:49:52 > 2:50:02on playing in the blue. That blacks nicer, it's on the spot.

2:50:28 > 2:50:35Looks as if he's finished straight on the blue. Can leave that red to

2:50:35 > 2:50:39the left corner, but just means he's got a bit more work to do with the

2:50:39 > 2:50:44positional side of things here. It's all about keeping it as simple as

2:50:44 > 2:50:45possible for yourself.

2:51:03 > 2:51:09Running slightly out of position. Just lost a bit of confidence at the

2:51:09 > 2:51:16moment, has Kyren.He's had a tough day today. He hasn't controlled the

2:51:16 > 2:51:20cue ball well enough and maybe his thinking process hasn't been as

2:51:20 > 2:51:28clear as it would have needed to be in such an important semi-final.

2:51:39 > 2:51:44Head scrambled a little bit. He needs to clear his head. What is he

2:51:44 > 2:51:51playing here, deep, long screw back.

2:51:51 > 2:51:57Played in such a way that he hoped the only ball he could leave was

2:51:57 > 2:52:07that red. Made a good fist of it but...

2:52:17 > 2:52:22Luckily he's finished. Snookered himself... Got to be careful with

2:52:22 > 2:52:25that red up the other end of the table. He was just a fraction away,

2:52:25 > 2:52:29as we show you it again. As he finds the gap there, he would have been

2:52:29 > 2:52:34perfect on the blue.

2:52:42 > 2:52:51It would be a hard pot for Kyren into the pocket.

2:52:52 > 2:52:57He could travel on a bit further and get the snooker behind pink and

2:52:57 > 2:53:02brown.

2:53:04 > 2:53:10I'm sure he can get just past the middle pocket and hit the yellow. He

2:53:10 > 2:53:20could play the swerve but... No real need I don't think.

2:53:28 > 2:53:31Good shot.

2:53:48 > 2:53:56That is a difficult pot.

2:54:04 > 2:54:08It's not often you see the reds all up this end of the table and the

2:54:08 > 2:54:18colours all up the other end of the table.

2:54:44 > 2:54:54Wow. Well, we'll never know how that would have panned out had he hit it

2:54:54 > 2:55:00properly but he was a mile out. If he'd have caught more of the red

2:55:00 > 2:55:05he'd have screwed the cue ball back into baulk.

2:55:23 > 2:55:30That looked on the face of it to be crazy as the shot Kyren played

2:55:30 > 2:55:39earlier. Again, it was a long way out of the pot.

2:55:39 > 2:55:44You would think Kyren's got to take this frame now but the scruff of the

2:55:44 > 2:55:51neck. Try and salvage something from the match, use it as a spring board.

2:55:51 > 2:55:54But it's not the best chance in the world.

2:56:00 > 2:56:05Should be able to get enough points though.

2:56:21 > 2:56:26Keep taking blues.

2:56:37 > 2:56:51Quite a way... Going to have to take the yellow now.

2:56:51 > 2:57:02the yellow now. Positionally, Kyren has been pretty weak today.

2:57:17 > 2:57:22He's normally excellent with that.

2:57:35 > 2:57:45That's more like it.

2:57:48 > 2:57:55He was handed a golden opportunity. Difficult really to take on and he

2:57:55 > 2:58:01scattered them all over the table.

2:58:01 > 2:58:05Reverse side on that. Didn't he play that well. Such a difficult shot to

2:58:05 > 2:58:09execute.

2:58:20 > 2:58:31Right hand side. Hits the cushion and it spins towards the blue.

2:58:40 > 2:58:47He's taken these well.

2:58:47 > 2:58:53That means that Judd is at the snookers required stage. This to

2:58:53 > 2:58:59make absolutely certain and keep Judd in his seat.

2:59:11 > 2:59:19He's not out of this match yet.

2:59:20 > 2:59:24Judd has played the percentages all the way through this match so far.

2:59:24 > 2:59:34That was the first rash one he took on and he's paid the price.

2:59:56 > 3:00:04Some naughty snooker from Kyren. There we go! A bit more of the

3:00:04 > 3:00:11white. Very close.

3:00:11 > 3:00:20That was a brilliant double. Doesn't matter about that, you'll be more

3:00:20 > 3:00:29than delighted. Judd with a chance and he took it. He keeps himself in

3:00:29 > 3:00:35this semifinal but still trails by five frames to three. STUDIO: Comedy

3:00:35 > 3:00:40map showing character but this time it is Judd Trump's turn to go a

3:00:40 > 3:00:45little bit crazy.Honestly, what a shot he's taken on. He's absolutely

3:00:45 > 3:00:49splattered them everywhere. He has simple shots to play if he wants

3:00:49 > 3:00:52them but he's decided to go for it, looks like someone who has just seen

3:00:52 > 3:00:55the winning post for the first time thinking if I can knock this one a

3:00:55 > 3:00:59night got a great chance. Of course he misses it, so he has to face the

3:00:59 > 3:01:03consequences.We pre-empted the next contribution from you in terms of

3:01:03 > 3:01:08concentration. Yet again. As John said, but of desperation, seeing the

3:01:08 > 3:01:11winning line he has been very patient all day. His game plan went

3:01:11 > 3:01:17out of the window. I see this shot, I see a way of winning the match.

3:01:17 > 3:01:22But when you are 5-2 ahead, you make your opponent to take the risk. You

3:01:22 > 3:01:25don't need to take risks any more, he's the one under pressure who

3:01:25 > 3:01:33can't afford any mistakes. This rush of blood, or whatever, if it goes

3:01:33 > 3:01:37in, we will say, what a shot to win the match. But it was the wrong

3:01:37 > 3:01:43shot.I said to you, does Judd take this on. In his position what would

3:01:43 > 3:01:46you have played?I wouldn't have played it but I don't have his cue

3:01:46 > 3:01:57power. There was nothing measured about it. Some very aggressive pot

3:01:57 > 3:02:01you go reason behind it. That one just looked like, I don't want to

3:02:01 > 3:02:04think of anything else, I want to get the match over as quickly as

3:02:04 > 3:02:09possible and that is the way of doing it. Every ball on the table

3:02:09 > 3:02:15moved.What would you have done, John? Slightly dangerous, still only

3:02:15 > 3:02:195-3 committees not completely out of this. You've still got to give

3:02:19 > 3:02:23respect of the balls and to the table that you have done. It's got

3:02:23 > 3:02:28him 5-2 in front, to be honest. You've got to be mindful of who you

3:02:28 > 3:02:30play against. These players can win two or three frames in quick

3:02:30 > 3:02:35fashion. Especially when they relax. At the point of no return, they

3:02:35 > 3:02:38haven't perhaps got the belief they are going to win the match any more

3:02:38 > 3:02:43so they... Everything relaxes, you start putting balls and see what

3:02:43 > 3:02:49happens. He's a very dangerous opponent, Kyren Wilson, he can knock

3:02:49 > 3:02:54up friends quickly. Judd has to get back to his game plan, forcing

3:02:54 > 3:03:01mistakes out of his opponent.Dennis said in commentary about Kyren

3:03:01 > 3:03:04lacking confidence this afternoon. If you've got your opponents on the

3:03:04 > 3:03:09rope why do something like that? Only he can answer. It looked to me

3:03:09 > 3:03:12like he'd seen the winning post so he thought, if I knock this one in,

3:03:12 > 3:03:19there is a great chance for me. Once again, go back to what is the right

3:03:19 > 3:03:23shot?You have to say a little bit of spring in Kyren Wilson's step

3:03:23 > 3:03:33once again. COMMENTATOR: Absolutely, and why not? Made a break of 57,

3:03:33 > 3:03:42which has restored the confidence. I mean, Davies a chance to get through

3:03:42 > 3:03:46to the final at the Masters. This will tell us something, this shot

3:03:46 > 3:03:51here.

3:03:58 > 3:04:03Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

3:04:11 > 3:04:15As Judd looks on, Kyren is faced with a brown that is not the right

3:04:15 > 3:04:22angle. To pot and get up the table. Now looking at the yellow and all of

3:04:22 > 3:04:28a sudden he must be feeling very confident if he's going to take this

3:04:28 > 3:04:36on. What a shot this is.Easy roll-up, but he will feel is not

3:04:36 > 3:04:39going to get any advantage. He's going for the jugular here. Great

3:04:39 > 3:04:48shot.

3:04:48 > 3:04:52shot. Absolutely full marks for trying to make something happen

3:04:52 > 3:05:00here. Trying to get Judd Trump off-balance.

3:05:00 > 3:05:04off-balance.Look at the chance he's created for himself here. Worth

3:05:04 > 3:05:08another look at this. Played it with a touch of sides to make sure he got

3:05:08 > 3:05:13on the red.

3:05:13 > 3:05:26on the red.5-4, then there is pressure on Judd.

3:05:26 > 3:05:29pressure on Judd. It's become a fascinating moment in this match

3:05:29 > 3:05:34now.

3:05:34 > 3:05:37now. Kyren sensing there was a little bit of momentum swinging his

3:05:37 > 3:05:42way.

3:06:02 > 3:06:09Though Judd leads the head-to-head 4-2, when Kyren won his first

3:06:09 > 3:06:13ranking title in 2015 at the Shanghai Masters, he beat Judd Trump

3:06:13 > 3:06:2510-9 in the final. Maybe he's got that on his mind to help him along.

3:06:46 > 3:06:50Couldn't really play that shot in any way to put the red and open up

3:06:50 > 3:06:58more of it. Not an easy pack to disturb. Needs an angle, low on it.

3:06:58 > 3:07:04He's done that right. Stunning into the right-hand side as we look, not

3:07:04 > 3:07:10a screw back, more of a stunner shocked. Keep the cue in open play.

3:07:10 > 3:07:21Not too low on the white ball.

3:07:21 > 3:07:27It is a harder shot, stunning in, than screwing in, for some reason.

3:07:27 > 3:07:35He took his eye of the pot. But listen, as he bowed his head, as he

3:07:35 > 3:07:40looks back at the table, he hasn't left anything for Judd. He's got

3:07:40 > 3:07:54away with it, he's had a result there. What a result he's had.

3:08:01 > 3:08:10Perhaps would like to get the cue ball down into this corner. Hide

3:08:10 > 3:08:17that red with the blue. Can't get to that road. That is why everything

3:08:17 > 3:08:26was safe.A bit short of pace. Has he got away with that?

3:08:26 > 3:08:28he got away with that?He's left a gap, can you believe it?All of a

3:08:28 > 3:08:42sudden. The wheel has gone a bit wobbly on Judd Trump's cart. Not

3:08:42 > 3:08:48saying that this is a certainty, but I think you'd expect, the way Kyren

3:08:48 > 3:08:55Wilson is approaching the game, he's going to knock this in. He's got

3:08:55 > 3:09:06nothing to lose.I can't believe it, they're coming down the steps.Bad

3:09:06 > 3:09:13timing.Right in the line of sight as well.

3:09:31 > 3:09:41Once safely in, but more importantly, perfect on the blue.

3:09:41 > 3:09:45Well, every chance now. Judd is going to have to sit there and

3:09:45 > 3:09:50ponder.

3:10:02 > 3:10:15What a match to turn around this would be for Kyren Wilson.

3:10:15 > 3:10:21One frame at a time of course, but... Is looking a lot happier and

3:10:21 > 3:10:30more comfortable amongst the balls than he was earlier.I mentioned

3:10:30 > 3:10:36before the match started how mentally strong Kyren Wilson is, and

3:10:36 > 3:10:41feels he can beat anyone in the game. He's got a great attitude.

3:10:41 > 3:10:46Very modest fellow but with regards to snooker... He feels he can beat

3:10:46 > 3:10:51anyone in the game. And he's just let that slip away. Just a fraction

3:10:51 > 3:10:57too far. That's what he thinks of it. Only a couple of pot away from

3:10:57 > 3:11:00clinching this frame. This is a tricky little one. He's quite close

3:11:00 > 3:11:11to it. Delicate little shocked.

3:11:11 > 3:11:18to it. Delicate little shocked. Well played, though. He's going to need

3:11:18 > 3:11:28another red after the pink.

3:11:37 > 3:11:41Amazing game, snooker, it wasn't that long ago it looked like Kyren

3:11:41 > 3:11:45Wilson had lost the plot a bit today. All of a sudden with a little

3:11:45 > 3:12:02bit of help from Judd Trump he's focused again.

3:12:08 > 3:12:17APPLAUSE He's using the rest.

3:12:17 > 3:12:22He's using the rest. 59 whites on the table. And he's got a 66 point

3:12:22 > 3:12:34advantage. And Judd stays in his seat. Kyren Wilson is on his way

3:12:34 > 3:12:40back again. Another frame he takes. He is only one behind now. 5-4, game

3:12:40 > 3:12:45one. STUDIO: Dennis is right, Game one, looks like Judd Trump strolling

3:12:45 > 3:12:49into the final. You should never take liberties with this game, that

3:12:49 > 3:12:52shot Judd Trump took before, when he saw the winning line, has turned

3:12:52 > 3:12:58this on his head. He had this match done and dusted 5-2, looking like

3:12:58 > 3:13:03you would get over, he took that one shot... It's done his own confidence

3:13:03 > 3:13:11in and given him a filler and he's had a pick-up. From 5-2 it is 5-4.I

3:13:11 > 3:13:15said to Dennis, you could see in his body language that Kyren knows he's

3:13:15 > 3:13:20been given a lifeline. When he played the crazy shot there was

3:13:20 > 3:13:23resignation in his body language can he looked almost beaten. All of a

3:13:23 > 3:13:28sudden he's won the frame through Judd's rash shot and has come up

3:13:28 > 3:13:33with a yellow he potted straightaway. To follow through

3:13:33 > 3:13:38committees leaving everything on. A fantastic shot. Judd has never been

3:13:38 > 3:13:43to the tournament final either. For all he has done. He will be

3:13:43 > 3:13:50twitching.Honestlyyou cannot take a liberty with this game it as if

3:13:50 > 3:13:53the balls have a memory and don't forget. You want to play that job,

3:13:53 > 3:14:00did you? Sit in your chair for a couple of frames.Judd Trump has

3:14:00 > 3:14:04somehow got to try and get that shot out of his mind. It's probably still

3:14:04 > 3:14:11playing on his mind. He's got to get positive thoughts back in. He has

3:14:11 > 3:14:16two chances to win the match. He'll go back to his game plan, he has to

3:14:16 > 3:14:20concentrate and focus to get into this match because his opponent has

3:14:20 > 3:14:28a head of steam up. Lots of cries of come on Kyren.

3:15:10 > 3:15:14A very warm welcome to viewers on BBC Two, you're watching live

3:15:14 > 3:15:19pictures of the 2018 Dafabet masters. Judd Trump leading Kyren

3:15:19 > 3:15:29Wilson five frames to four.

3:15:30 > 3:15:33And this is where we leave you on BBC One.
