:00:56. > :00:59.Good evening. Welcome to Match of the Day 2, on a day when football

:01:00. > :01:02.mattered not. This morning, we woke up to the awful news of the tragic

:01:02. > :01:06.loss of Gary Speed, a man who has been a regular in our footballing

:01:06. > :01:09.world for 23 years, week in, week out. Tonight, his family is missing

:01:09. > :01:13.a husband and a father, and on behalf of everyone involved in BBC

:01:14. > :01:23.sport, and on behalf of all our viewers, our thoughts are with you.

:01:24. > :01:25.

:01:25. > :01:31.In the studio, Mark Lawrenson and Michael Owen. Michael, he was a

:01:31. > :01:37.friend and and neighbour. He looked about 10 miles away from where I

:01:37. > :01:45.ate live. We saw him on the way to school, we would share a wave with

:01:45. > :01:55.each other. A terrible loss. We're all at a loss and still feeling a

:01:55. > :02:00.

:02:00. > :02:07.bit numb. Mark, and he was own real gentleman to deal with. Up there is

:02:07. > :02:14.no dispute about that. Just a sense of total disbelief. I was only

:02:14. > :02:21.talking to him yesterday in one of the production offices. Just asking

:02:21. > :02:29.him mundane questions. Are you going to a game? That kind of stuff.

:02:29. > :02:32.So when news came through it was just, it cannot be possible. This

:02:32. > :02:34.morning, as the game of football tried to come to terms with the

:02:34. > :02:36.news of Gary's death, a decision was made that both Sunday matches

:02:36. > :02:39.should go ahead. At the Liberty Stadium in Swansea, just before the

:02:39. > :02:41.half one kick off with Aston Villa, the fans themselves spontaneously

:02:41. > :02:49.and fittingly, decided that a minute's silence was was not enough

:02:49. > :02:56.for their national hero. Earlier today we received

:02:56. > :03:01.confirmation that of the sad death of Gary Speed. Along with the world

:03:01. > :03:07.of football, we are devastated by this sad day and our thoughts and

:03:07. > :03:14.prayers are with his family. He enjoyed a fantastic career and

:03:14. > :03:19.remains the most capped outfield player for Wales. He played

:03:19. > :03:27.professionally for Leeds United, Everton, Newcastle, Bolton and

:03:27. > :03:31.Sheffield United. He was enjoying outstanding success as the Wales

:03:31. > :03:37.team manager and our thoughts are with those Welsh internationals on

:03:37. > :03:42.duty today. In the great tradition of the great game of football I

:03:42. > :03:52.would like to ask you now have to stand and remember Gary Speed with

:03:52. > :03:52.

:03:52. > :04:52.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 59 seconds

:04:52. > :04:54.Later at Anfield, Liverpool and City fans paid tribute to the man

:04:55. > :04:58.who grew up an Evertonian. A symbol of how he was regarded by everyone,

:04:58. > :05:01.regardless of club or country allegience. Once again, a lot for

:05:01. > :05:03.both dressing rooms to take in on a day that left so many of his

:05:03. > :05:13.friends and collegues within the game grief-striken. Your

:05:13. > :05:39.

:05:39. > :05:43.game grief-striken. Your either of these clubs yet here as

:05:43. > :05:49.anywhere in the football world there has been at disbelieving

:05:49. > :05:55.atmosphere in the build up to again, once huge, but now hardly seems to

:05:55. > :06:03.matter. The son of the Liverpool goalkeeper, Brad, who lost his

:06:03. > :06:07.battle against leukaemia. Young lives cut tragically short. Kenny

:06:07. > :06:17.Dalglish made the decision himself to free Craig Bellamy from the

:06:17. > :06:17.

:06:17. > :07:09.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 59 seconds

:07:09. > :07:19.pressures of playing today to shot goes into the Kop. The first

:07:19. > :07:19.

:07:19. > :07:29.real chance of the match. A little bit of a surprise that Yaya Toure

:07:29. > :07:49.

:07:49. > :07:57.I wonder whether a stretch and as light might have seen Liverpool in

:07:57. > :08:07.a profit here. -- at slide. The first spell of any kind of

:08:07. > :08:08.

:08:08. > :09:00.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 59 seconds

:09:00. > :09:08.it all by himself. -- Aguerro. The first signs of agitation,

:09:08. > :09:18.Enrique three languages. English, Italian, and a sign language. It

:09:18. > :09:35.

:09:35. > :09:43.Kompany! Manchester City have the lead at Anfield. Driven over with

:09:43. > :09:53.real pace by David Silva. Vincent Kompany rises out of the crowd to

:09:53. > :10:17.

:10:17. > :10:21.over the years. These days of course they expect so much more

:10:21. > :10:31.from wherever they travel. And Liverpool get an huge chunk of

:10:31. > :10:34.

:10:34. > :10:43.luck! City were not in front of for long. Only a couple of minutes or

:10:43. > :10:53.so. Charlie Adams tried his luck and that is what happens when you

:10:53. > :10:54.

:10:54. > :10:59.do. Sometimes it just comes off. It is a Joleon Lescott own goal.

:10:59. > :11:09.It was not a bad game before but now it is threatening the to be

:11:09. > :11:16.

:11:17. > :11:26.explosive. And he has exploded. Back to Charlie add up! What as

:11:27. > :11:35.

:11:35. > :11:43.saved. Joe Hart uses his feet to brilliant effect. Charlie Adams

:11:43. > :11:53.steered it, hit it pretty hard as well. He thought it was in, that is

:11:53. > :11:53.

:11:53. > :12:39.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 59 seconds

:12:39. > :12:49.Anfield. City coming so close to that. Very nearly got his team into

:12:49. > :13:10.

:13:11. > :13:19.trouble. Could easily have steered Liverpool corner. What a battle

:13:19. > :13:29.that has been from the start. Vincent Kompany against Luis Suarez.

:13:29. > :13:32.

:13:32. > :13:36.Like the game, it has been Honours even. Joe Hart watched that. He was

:13:36. > :13:46.superb in defeat at Napoli on Tuesday. He has been excellent

:13:46. > :14:02.

:14:02. > :14:12.into his own net again. -- putting it in. Brilliant work by Luis

:14:12. > :14:20.

:14:21. > :14:27.It has got to be a yellow card. Mario Balotelli is still only 21

:14:27. > :14:37.and he's still learning about it again. Nonetheless, when youth foul

:14:37. > :15:02.

:15:02. > :15:12.somebody, a naked subtle. -- naked anything less and Derek Kuyt would

:15:12. > :15:34.

:15:34. > :15:41.Martin Atkinson has gone to his pocket. The red card is coming out.

:15:41. > :15:47.Balotelli's appearance at Anfield has been a brief one. Vincent

:15:47. > :15:52.Kompany try to calm things down. He will not change the referee's mind.

:15:52. > :16:02.Balotelli gets to his feet to see a second yellow card. The third red

:16:02. > :16:03.

:16:03. > :16:10.card of his Manchester City career. The arm was up. It certainly was

:16:10. > :16:18.not slammed into Skrtel's head. Liverpool players were quick to

:16:18. > :16:25.draw the referee's attention to it. Roberto Mancini is quick to tell

:16:25. > :16:35.Balotelli to get down the tunnel. Two bookings in six minutes For

:16:35. > :16:37.

:16:37. > :16:47.Balotelli. He was on the field for less than 20. Luis Suarez! Gill

:16:47. > :17:12.

:17:12. > :17:16.David Silva... 3 on of the line. Skrtel get it away. -- get it away.

:17:16. > :17:26.Peppier rain or did brilliantly. He made sure that David Silva could

:17:26. > :17:52.

:17:52. > :18:01.be just about it. He is another miraculous save. Andy Carroll

:18:01. > :18:11.thought he had won it. What Icesave. For the 4th game in succession at

:18:11. > :18:18.Anfield, the visiting goalkeeper Kenny, a youth thinking, how did

:18:18. > :18:23.and we win that? Yes. Bobby see the goalkeeper has made some good saves.

:18:23. > :18:28.-- obviously. That is what he is therefore. The boys showed

:18:28. > :18:32.fantastic attitude, commitment and determination playing for the

:18:32. > :18:40.football club. If they continue to do what they're doing, they will

:18:40. > :18:48.win more points than that they lose. It was really important to do a

:18:48. > :18:55.good result after the defeat in Naples. We wanted to win. But

:18:55. > :19:01.coming here is not easy. What about the red card from their -- Mario?

:19:01. > :19:07.For me, the second was not her yellow-card. I do not think the

:19:07. > :19:15.referee wanted to give him a yellow card but the Liverpool players

:19:15. > :19:21.reacted. We feel as if we probably should have won Mac the game. We

:19:21. > :19:26.need this season's like the cole mack to go for us. On another day

:19:26. > :19:33.we could have got the goal at the end. It was a world-class save from

:19:33. > :19:38.Andy Carroll. That to do something. We have -- I have not done much

:19:38. > :19:45.this season. It is a big point. It has been quite a busy weekend for

:19:45. > :19:50.goalkeepers. A terrific game of football. Just what we needed after

:19:50. > :19:55.the news from this morning. You will be as shocked as the rest of

:19:55. > :20:00.us? It is always sad, especially when it is somebody you know and

:20:00. > :20:06.somebody you totally respected. Somebody was not only a good

:20:06. > :20:11.footballer, but a good guy. It is all right for us to be saddened,

:20:11. > :20:18.but the people you think of most are his wife and two children. It

:20:18. > :20:23.must be really difficult for them. You may be play a football match

:20:23. > :20:29.and you do not get what you deserve, but if you cannot cope with what

:20:29. > :20:35.she has lost. A brave and right decision to play the two games at

:20:35. > :20:40.today? Yes, I think so. It is difficult because you run the gamut

:20:40. > :20:44.of emotions. More often than not you're glad somebody else makes the

:20:44. > :20:50.decision. I would like to think that Gary Speed would have played

:20:50. > :20:57.football today. I do think it was the right decision. On the field,

:20:57. > :21:02.do you think a draw was the right result, Michael? Possibly. It was a

:21:03. > :21:10.decent game. 50-50 most of the way. Liverpool got quite a few chances

:21:10. > :21:20.at the end. The longer the game was going on, Liverpool could have gone

:21:20. > :21:21.

:21:21. > :21:31.on to victory. It was a good game. You expect a hangover from Europe.

:21:31. > :21:37.

:21:37. > :21:44.Manchester City showed no signs are They created chances and get

:21:44. > :21:53.possession. If they had gone on to win the game, Silva and Nasri would

:21:53. > :21:59.have been instrumental. Liverpool rode the storm. They are all top

:21:59. > :22:03.players. There is no argument. But I think from Manchester City's

:22:03. > :22:08.point of view, they will have been pleased with how they started this

:22:08. > :22:12.game. The longer the game went on, the more it looked like Liverpool

:22:12. > :22:22.were going to win. The passing, of the movement, the ability to see

:22:22. > :22:27.

:22:27. > :22:33.things, it was all there. Brilliant pass by Silva. This is his chance

:22:33. > :22:43.at the end. I'm not quite sure what was going through his mind.

:22:43. > :22:44.

:22:44. > :22:51.keeper did really well. He is He is so quick on his feet. He is

:22:51. > :22:55.the modern day goalkeeper. As for Liverpool, we said this last week,

:22:55. > :22:59.they play for 90 minutes plus injury time for Kenny Dalglish.

:22:59. > :23:09.Going a goal behind, they did the Going a goal behind, they did the

:23:09. > :23:18.

:23:18. > :23:26.same today? Yes they did. And they created chances. The last 15, 20

:23:26. > :23:31.minutes, you're waiting for a ricochet to allow Mackin. We just

:23:31. > :23:38.circled Micah Richards here. He is not sure where to go. He makes a

:23:38. > :23:44.wrong decision and John Hart has to make the save. Defensively,

:23:44. > :23:52.Manchester City made some strange decisions today. Luis Suarez was

:23:52. > :23:59.unlucky as well. Just here, as the ball comes in, potty macro must

:23:59. > :24:09.Stade in a line, the Manchester City players. Brilliant play here

:24:09. > :24:09.

:24:09. > :24:13.as well. Just look at the movement of Luis Suarez. I think everybody

:24:13. > :24:22.will be impressed with how he has played since he came to the

:24:22. > :24:29.contrary. Look how quick he is. Yes, he is a real handful. But that man

:24:29. > :24:33.has been at the start of the show today. He did not realise how many

:24:33. > :24:43.chances Liverpool had had until you put that analysis together. There

:24:43. > :24:45.

:24:45. > :24:52.One of the reasons was they had to play with 10 men because Mario

:24:52. > :24:57.Balotelli was sent off? Stupid Mario, as he is now known. There is

:24:57. > :25:07.Mario, as he is now known. There is no doubting his ability. But he

:25:07. > :25:11.just does daft things. How daft is that? The referee had no option.

:25:11. > :25:15.am a bit undecided about that one. If he tries to win the header, it

:25:15. > :25:25.is the way he looks at the player and then runs at him and does not

:25:25. > :25:30.

:25:30. > :25:35.challenge him. His arm was quite There is a story that Mario

:25:35. > :25:39.Balotelli may have had an argument with the away dressing room door.

:25:39. > :25:46.Roberto Mancini said he had not heard by if he did, he would pay

:25:46. > :25:50.for it. -- but if he did. Manchester City have made --

:25:50. > :25:54.Liverpool have made giant strides this season since Kenny Dalglish

:25:54. > :25:58.took over. I have been very impressed by Luis Suarez. He has

:25:58. > :26:04.been a handful. He goes past players. I do not think he is

:26:04. > :26:08.blessed with blistering speed, but the way he faints and shimmies, he

:26:08. > :26:13.has a bit of everything. A lot of Premier League teams would look at

:26:13. > :26:20.Manchester City today and think, defensively, chink in the arm.

:26:20. > :26:28.they the team to beat this season? I think man United are the team to

:26:28. > :26:31.beat. -- Manchester United. From our point of view, we are looking...

:26:31. > :26:36.I have been impressed with Tottenham recently. You would have

:26:36. > :26:46.to say they are the team to beat, they are five points clear. Let's

:26:46. > :26:47.

:26:47. > :26:54.head to the Liberty Stadium for shock at the truly tragic news of

:26:54. > :27:00.Gary Speed's death. It filtered through just before kick-off. I

:27:00. > :27:03.walk past numerous phases in that tunnel whose expressions changed

:27:03. > :27:10.dramatically after a whisper in the year. How difficult for the likes

:27:10. > :27:18.of Ashley Williams, Neil Taylor and Joe Allen, all regulars in Gary

:27:18. > :27:24.Speed's will sting. James Collins played alongside speed in his last

:27:24. > :27:34.game in management. Shay Given, a team-mate for years at Newcastle.

:27:34. > :27:34.

:27:34. > :29:56.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 59 seconds

:29:56. > :30:06.deep. Joe Allen could not comes the cross. Just watch the

:30:06. > :30:26.

:30:26. > :30:36.left hand of Ashley Williams there. Swansea's left hand side switched

:30:36. > :31:10.

:31:10. > :31:20.enough to turn it over the bar. That was a good, fizzing drive from

:31:20. > :31:27.

:31:27. > :31:37.Agbonlahor. Vorm gets lucky for the second time in little more than a

:31:37. > :31:37.

:31:37. > :33:23.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 59 seconds

:33:23. > :33:28.What a good stop. Vorm was equal to We started to create chances. Aston

:33:28. > :33:35.Villa up are a dangerous Dean. They have got players like Darren Bent

:33:36. > :33:41.who has scored over the years. And they have players like Agbonlahor,

:33:41. > :33:46.so I think oh well our performance was excellent. Just that final shot

:33:47. > :33:51.to score the goal was may be missing. It was not may be

:33:51. > :34:01.devastating, brilliant football, but we played a good Swansea team.

:34:01. > :34:04.

:34:04. > :34:09.We were only penetrating in the last 10 or 15 minutes. I do not

:34:09. > :34:16.imagine if you ever had such a difficult lead-up to again? It was

:34:16. > :34:22.quite horrific news that we heard. It was a quarter of an hour before

:34:22. > :34:26.Mike team talk. Shay Given told me and my blood run cold, it was

:34:26. > :34:32.devastating news for the whole of football and certainly for the

:34:32. > :34:39.family of Gary Speed. I think we're all shell-shocked. It was a real

:34:39. > :34:45.bombshell. It was poignant that it came out and the game was here in

:34:45. > :34:54.Wales. And of the sleek Gary was a great Welsh man. It is still hard

:34:54. > :35:01.to taking. -- obviously. And the players, considering that piece of

:35:01. > :35:06.news, they loved working with Gary. And you have players like Shay

:35:06. > :35:13.Given who were close friends. Given was very upset, at the

:35:13. > :35:17.beginning of the game he had tears in his eyes. And that silence that

:35:17. > :35:24.turned into applause. And Jermaine Janners played with him for a few

:35:24. > :35:32.years. These guys wear upset but we did try to use it as part of the

:35:32. > :35:39.motivation. It was hard before the match. Shay Given was close friends

:35:39. > :35:45.with Gary. He was the one who told us. He was inconsolable, really. It

:35:45. > :35:54.was the bane for anyone who has played with him or come across him.

:35:54. > :35:59.-- the same. Everyone's thoughts are with his family. We wanted to

:35:59. > :36:05.play the game for Gary Speed who was such a great player, a great

:36:05. > :36:14.football man. It was a mark of respect to play the game for him

:36:14. > :36:21.and great though the players were able to adapt.

:36:21. > :36:24.It is credit to the Aston Villa supporters because the ground was

:36:24. > :36:34.United and everyone recognising what a terrific man has just passed

:36:34. > :36:39.away for stock that game seems like so long ago. It was just a blur

:36:39. > :36:44.this morning and early afternoon. But for Swansea, another clean

:36:44. > :36:49.sheet as the on the Welsh side in the Premier League. They have got

:36:49. > :36:56.such a good defensive record as well at home. Goals are hard to

:36:56. > :37:01.come by. One of the things, almost bizarrely, they have so much

:37:01. > :37:08.possession at home. So as the opposition, you do not have it, you

:37:08. > :37:16.cannot do much with it. I think United struggled there last week

:37:16. > :37:24.because they really have is to find a way of playing. -- this defined.

:37:24. > :37:28.They just keep the ball. Then when someone does that, commits the

:37:28. > :37:36.cardinal sin, they get the ball back straight away. And they just

:37:36. > :37:46.back straight away. And they just keep it. And they are very good at

:37:46. > :37:49.

:37:49. > :37:56.it. Everyone knows their job. Lita came on. He is promptly a little

:37:56. > :38:06.more direct. He's very strong and physical. He does well here.

:38:06. > :38:10.does do well. He will be disappointed not to score. These

:38:10. > :38:15.were the major chances of the game. But in a place like Swansea you

:38:15. > :38:21.know they're going to be passing it around and you cannot lose the

:38:21. > :38:26.around and you cannot lose the midfield battle. That makes it

:38:26. > :38:29.tough in its own way for stock Aston Villa had a torrid time

:38:29. > :38:34.against Spurs at the beginning of the week and Swansea will have

:38:34. > :38:39.watched those tapes. Did we see anything different from Aston Villa

:38:39. > :38:47.anything different from Aston Villa today? Not greatly. I felt a bit

:38:47. > :38:57.sorry for Darren Bent. He. There on his own and it is hard. -- he.

:38:57. > :39:00.

:39:00. > :39:06.has done before and will dill again. A lot of the time it is for the

:39:06. > :39:15.good of the team. But for a goalscorer like he is, he does not

:39:15. > :39:25.do that much outside the box. as if he is running around on the

:39:25. > :39:45.

:39:45. > :39:49.before. You cannot lose that midfield battle. You can be

:39:49. > :39:53.outnumbered if you have two strikers step up front. So you do

:39:53. > :40:00.feel sorry for Darren Bent but he has done it before and will have to

:40:00. > :40:03.has done it before and will have to do it again. But it is difficult to.

:40:03. > :40:12.Let me tell you quickly about next week's Match of the Day 2. Once

:40:12. > :40:20.again we have two games. Everton versus Stoke and Wolves versus

:40:20. > :40:26.Sunderland. That's at 10 o'clock again here on Two. Week decided

:40:26. > :40:32.tonight we would celebrate Gary Speed as a player. The thing is, we

:40:32. > :40:35.have had a lot of people speaking about him tonight, people who are

:40:35. > :40:44.football supporters were did not know him. They got this

:40:44. > :40:49.overwhelming sense that he was such a normal person. Some people we

:40:49. > :40:56.meet or arrogant, or or Shine. But he was just such a normal, family

:40:56. > :41:02.man. At top player as well. Everywhere he went, he was captain.

:41:02. > :41:07.Hardly ever got injured. But before everything else, he was a Welshman.

:41:07. > :41:17.He was the most capped outfield player, showing great signs as a

:41:17. > :41:17.

:41:17. > :41:27.manager. A sad loss for the country. It is, as you say. He was starting

:41:27. > :41:35.to turn things around. And everyone liked playing for him. If you talk

:41:35. > :41:41.to any of the Welsh squad, they were desperate to join up. And he

:41:41. > :41:46.created a great environment. think that is key. You could see

:41:46. > :41:53.that everyone wanted to play for him. What made him such a great

:41:53. > :41:59.leader? Because he did not a shout. What made him someone you trusted?

:41:59. > :42:04.You have to be a good player, that is the first thing. He just had a

:42:04. > :42:11.lot of different qualities. He would never shirk responsibility.

:42:11. > :42:16.He would play anywhere for you, which is priceless. And he rarely

:42:16. > :42:26.got injured. Just that level of consistency at every club that he

:42:26. > :42:29.

:42:29. > :42:34.went to. Like a lot of left-footed players,

:42:34. > :42:42.they have a wonderful left-foot. And that is what I mainly remember

:42:42. > :42:47.him for. He was a fantastic player. And to keep that going right the

:42:47. > :42:53.way through his career. It is hard getting to the top, but staying at

:42:53. > :43:00.the top. To do that and to be normal, is an achievement in

:43:00. > :43:06.himself. A lot of people who have played against him, he was nobody's

:43:07. > :43:11.mug either. He could put his foot in. When he started to play you

:43:11. > :43:21.could have 30 minutes without the ball. When did you first come

:43:21. > :43:28.

:43:28. > :43:31.I played in a lot of the teams he played for. My district team, I got

:43:31. > :43:37.into that three years younger than I should have been. And so did Gary

:43:37. > :43:42.Speed. At the end of that season he presented all the team with their

:43:42. > :43:49.trophies for the year. I have still got the photograph back home. I was

:43:49. > :43:53.nine, he was 20. You remember things like that. He was probably

:43:53. > :44:00.the first player I had ever come Cross. Sign your autograph and

:44:00. > :44:09.everything else. It is a big thing at that age. It is the thing that

:44:09. > :44:18.will always stay with you. He would to lot behind the scenes. He would

:44:18. > :44:25.view of the media, if you met Gary socially, he was exactly the same

:44:25. > :44:30.as if you set down to interview him. They were no preconditions. --

:44:30. > :44:36.there were. There is always somebody the media have fallen out

:44:36. > :44:41.with over the years. Nobody has ever fallen out with them. He was

:44:42. > :44:48.into the karaoke. Alan Shearer was his bedmate. He was a better

:44:48. > :44:58.footballer than a karaoke singer. We're going to look forward now on

:44:58. > :45:17.

:45:17. > :45:27.As always, on a Sunday, Match of the Day 2 has all the goals on

:45:27. > :45:29.

:45:29. > :45:39.Saturday. We begin with West Brom birds as they keep up the London

:45:39. > :45:49.

:45:49. > :45:59.end of the title race. -- for penalty. -- Lennon. There was a

:45:59. > :46:09.

:46:09. > :46:15.are impressive. Brad Friedel kept the scores level. Adebayor was

:46:15. > :46:25.denied a second thanks to the reflexes of Ben Foster. Jermain

:46:25. > :46:30.

:46:30. > :46:39.Defoe! Took it brilliantly. Adebayor! That is nine wins, 1 the

:46:39. > :46:45.draw in the last 10 games. -- one draw. Chelsea got back in their

:46:45. > :46:51.stride. After a disappointing week, Chelsea were desperate to get back

:46:51. > :46:58.to winning ways. Wolves seemed willing to -- unwilling to give

:46:58. > :47:08.Chelsea the early all they needed. But there's only a matter of time.

:47:08. > :47:15.

:47:15. > :47:25.-- it was only a matter of time. Sturridge! To to nil for Chelsea. -

:47:25. > :47:42.

:47:42. > :47:49.add a 4th and added to his growing reputation. Petr Cech did his bit

:47:49. > :47:56.to keep his reputation intact. But there is one player at Chelsea

:47:56. > :48:02.still trying to prove his worth. Controversy and drama at the

:48:02. > :48:06.Theatre of dreams as united were held. A win for United was the

:48:06. > :48:12.order of the day but Newcastle were keen to show their league position

:48:12. > :48:22.is no fluke. Coloccini did his best to bring the worst had a Wayne

:48:22. > :48:55.

:48:55. > :49:04.penalty. Manchester United are doing. He has given the penalty

:49:04. > :49:14.kick. Ferdinand, does he get to the ball? I think he does. They are

:49:14. > :49:14.

:49:14. > :49:19.level. Demba Ba. Gutierrez's enthusiasm earned him a yellow card.

:49:19. > :49:25.He got a second booking later. It was the Tim Krul show for a while

:49:25. > :49:35.as he kept by just delighted at bay. Even when they did beat him, the

:49:35. > :49:44.

:49:44. > :49:51.will not count. That was a very will not count. That was a very

:49:51. > :49:58.close decision. Current club against old club. Newcastle are the

:49:58. > :50:01.real deal? Very impressed. They are looking good. Strong a unit. I

:50:01. > :50:07.would like to see them get a couple of players for the squad because

:50:07. > :50:13.they look quite thin on the ground. The starting 11 have been doing

:50:13. > :50:19.fantastically well. How are you coming along? You're croc at the

:50:19. > :50:29.moment. Yes, I pulled my thigh in the Champions League game at Old

:50:29. > :50:29.

:50:29. > :50:37.Trafford. Quite a nasty injury. Things going to plan so far. He has

:50:38. > :50:42.had a bad career, hasn't the? Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle

:50:42. > :50:49.and Manchester United. You still look the same age as you did when

:50:49. > :50:53.you were at Liverpool. You ask what player now. You could be at a

:50:53. > :50:58.number of clubs and play week-in, week-out. Is that something you

:50:58. > :51:05.would still like to do before your career ends? You have got to look

:51:05. > :51:14.at it. If I played two games a season, I would not want that. I

:51:14. > :51:16.still think I have a few years left. That will be the case. If I am

:51:16. > :51:24.playing 15 to 20 games for Manchester United, I would like to

:51:24. > :51:33.stay. The least he plays in a season, he plays longer, so we get

:51:33. > :51:38.another contract. -- he gets another contract. Do you harbour

:51:38. > :51:44.hopes of being back in an England top? Obviously I would have to play

:51:44. > :51:52.more regular. At Manchester United, obviously, that would be great. I

:51:52. > :51:58.would have a good chance. I would never say never. I would love to

:51:58. > :52:05.pull on the shirt. Again. It is a magical feeling. Here is one of

:52:05. > :52:15.them. The fancy equipment was not around in those days. It was a low-

:52:15. > :52:17.

:52:17. > :52:27.key first touch. -- lucky. Fantastic goal. Five more games

:52:27. > :52:38.

:52:38. > :52:48.from yesterday. We will start with way of Norwich, but only just.

:52:48. > :52:49.

:52:50. > :52:59.Martin! Steve Morison almost made it two. Shaun Derry will still be

:53:00. > :53:20.

:53:20. > :53:30.wondering how he did not pull QPR put his body between the ball and

:53:30. > :53:47.

:53:47. > :53:51.Ramsey! Should have buried it. Arsenal were not having it all

:53:51. > :53:56.their own way. The goalkeeper had to be at his best to keep the

:53:56. > :54:06.scores level. Even the prolific Robin Van Persie could not find the

:54:06. > :54:22.

:54:22. > :54:30.created the danger. Arsenal are behind. -- John Arne Riise. An own

:54:30. > :54:40.goal by Thomas Vermaelen. Mark Schwarzer kept out Djourou. Still

:54:40. > :54:41.

:54:41. > :54:49.time for Vermaelen to make amends. Everton recorded back-to-back wins

:54:49. > :54:59.for the first time this season while Bolton continued to struggle.

:54:59. > :55:15.

:55:15. > :55:25.Wheater is off. Bolton down to 10 not to give Everton a penalty.

:55:25. > :55:34.

:55:34. > :55:44.City stop the rot while Blackburn Rovers sunk to the bottom. Steven

:55:44. > :55:51.

:55:51. > :56:01.Nzonzi was twice given the benefit loudest cheer of the afternoon.

:56:01. > :56:28.

:56:28. > :56:38.He's turned in by Rory Delap. -- et third. Rochina! Great cole mack. --

:56:38. > :56:43.

:56:43. > :56:49.goal. Steve Bruce was left bemoaning his luck against Wigan.

:56:49. > :56:53.Sebastian Larsson gives Sunderland the lead. Ali Al Habsi stood tall

:56:53. > :57:03.for Wigan to keep his team in it. Sunderland created a host of

:57:03. > :57:04.

:57:04. > :57:11.chances to double their lead. Penalty. You have to say, Larsen

:57:11. > :57:21.did make contact. -- Sebastian Larsson. Calmly done by the

:57:21. > :57:42.

:57:42. > :57:50.Spaniard. Wigan back on level terms. It is two to one, Wigan. It is an

:57:50. > :58:00.awful moment for ways bronc. -- Wes Brown. The disgruntled Sunderland

:58:00. > :58:01.

:58:01. > :58:11.Table toppers Manchester City lead Manchester United by five points.

:58:11. > :58:19.

:58:19. > :58:23.Spurs could go above the defending Michael and Mark, thank you very
