:00:56. > :01:02.2 hello, welcome to Match Of The Day 2. Yesterday provided shocks and

:01:03. > :01:08.talking points aplenty. Will today do the same? Let's find out with the

:01:09. > :01:14.first of the two games we have for you. Arsenal continue to lead the

:01:15. > :01:20.rest with almost every goal they score being a beauty. Whatever the

:01:21. > :01:25.public say, whatever the odds on them winning the title, this is the

:01:26. > :01:32.best team in England right now. If Arsenal have surprised some, what

:01:33. > :01:37.about Everton? Roberto Martinez has bought, sold and borrowed to

:01:38. > :01:44.mastermind a season of highs. But can they rise to their biggest

:01:45. > :01:53.challenge so far? Guy Mowbray is at the Emirates. With every impressive

:01:54. > :01:59.win the expectations shift a little higher. Arsenal could win the title

:02:00. > :02:12.and Everton might finish in the top four. Arsenal made four changes from

:02:13. > :02:19.Wednesday's win over Hull. Jenkinson continues at right back. Everton

:02:20. > :02:38.remains unchanged in the same team that started at Manchester United

:02:39. > :02:43.midweek. The World Cup will bring together people of all nations,

:02:44. > :02:47.creeds and colours and all crowds in the Premier League this weekend have

:02:48. > :02:48.taken a moment to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Nelson

:02:49. > :03:24.Mandela. That was not such a good shot from

:03:25. > :03:56.Kevin Mirallas. Gibbs could not finish it off. He

:03:57. > :04:05.says there was an Everton touch. This is Arsenal's better chance.

:04:06. > :04:18.Jenkinson was going to let it fly. A superb ball in from Santi Cazorla.

:04:19. > :04:21.175 Premier League goals for Henry. A whole host of Arsenal legends are

:04:22. > :04:46.back to watch their team today. What a shame about that ball in.

:04:47. > :04:59.Romelu Lukaku thought it should have been more sprightly. There are a few

:05:00. > :05:07.decent English players out on the field today.

:05:08. > :05:16.He was onside. He is pounding the ground in frustration. Tim Howard

:05:17. > :05:27.was so quick to keep it zero to keep it 020.

:05:28. > :05:39.Tim Howard was off his line in the blink of an eye again. You get

:05:40. > :05:40.goalkeepers at the top level who fly through the air and perform

:05:41. > :06:15.spectacular saves. Saved by Howard. Not enough on it

:06:16. > :06:17.from Santi Cazorla. It arrived with a little too much pace for the

:06:18. > :06:43.Spaniard. You can understand Roberto

:06:44. > :06:46.Martinez' words this week, delighted with a fantastic blend of

:06:47. > :06:48.experienced and arrogant young players. He means arrogant in a

:06:49. > :07:16.really positive sense. It was kept out by Howard with

:07:17. > :07:23.Ramsey looking for yet another goal, and it was going in. A super move

:07:24. > :07:38.from Ciaran Gibbs. Howard was a cross in the nick of time.

:07:39. > :07:48.Koscielny was once again spot on. Wilson and architecture are looking

:07:49. > :08:00.at one another. Theo Walcott did well. It was a nice

:08:01. > :08:45.touch back from Oliver Joe Ruud that was a brilliant effort. The

:08:46. > :09:00.ankle was very tight. Koscielny did well to get something on that. Kevin

:09:01. > :09:15.Mirallas makes way for Gerard -- Gerard Deulofeu. Mesut Ozil has not

:09:16. > :09:22.missed it. A huge noise around the stadium. So often this place has

:09:23. > :09:28.been described as a passionless pit. It is absolutely rocking now. It

:09:29. > :09:31.might be the goal that wins the game for Arsenal and takes them seven

:09:32. > :09:45.points clear at the top of the Premier League.

:09:46. > :09:55.It was not easy, even being so close. He controlled it into the

:09:56. > :10:01.roof of the net brilliantly. He scores for the second game in a row

:10:02. > :10:07.and it is his fifth Gunners' goal. What a signing he is proving to be.

:10:08. > :10:12.Not that anyone ever doubted his quality, but he has taken to the

:10:13. > :10:29.Premier League so easily and lit it up. What a strike from the teenager,

:10:30. > :10:38.Gerard Deulofeu. Confidence, arrogance, extreme ability. The same

:10:39. > :10:49.goes for Ross Berkeley. He has found a fresh energy from somewhere.

:10:50. > :10:56.He was quite superb against Stoke when starting last weekend. He has

:10:57. > :11:10.only been on the field a couple of minutes this evening. He has drawn

:11:11. > :11:17.Everton level with a thumper. Arsenal want a win at home to extend

:11:18. > :11:32.their already impressive points at the top.

:11:33. > :11:53.Lukaku should have been flagged offside.

:11:54. > :12:09.The Arsenal fans behind the goal are screaming that Mathieu Flamini was

:12:10. > :12:11.fouled. He was already on the floor. I do not think he was getting up to

:12:12. > :12:32.impede him at all. Lukaku was going for something. The

:12:33. > :12:40.intention is applauded by the manager. Some of his team-mates are

:12:41. > :12:45.arguing he should have passed. Martinez is not so sure with the

:12:46. > :12:57.form he is in. He can feel the anguish. We have now played three

:12:58. > :13:07.extra minutes. That was brilliant, it was so close to winning it. The

:13:08. > :13:12.flag is being waived. With Olivier Giroud, a matter of inches away from

:13:13. > :13:20.winning the game with an absolute scorcher. It is all over. There are

:13:21. > :13:24.a few disappointed groans, but they will only be temporary because

:13:25. > :13:31.everybody who has been here today has seen a super game of Premier

:13:32. > :13:35.League football. Spectators are applauding both sets of players. It

:13:36. > :13:49.makes a nice change, everybody is going home reasonably happy. We know

:13:50. > :13:56.we have quality and at least we took a point today. I thought the way we

:13:57. > :14:00.had to work hard, we had a real energetic look about our play and it

:14:01. > :14:07.was very pleasing. In the second half the goal came from nothing and

:14:08. > :14:11.probably that surprised us a little bit. But there was plenty of

:14:12. > :14:16.character to get back and get an outstanding finish of that quality.

:14:17. > :14:21.It was a fitting moment to finish on a really good game of football. It

:14:22. > :14:27.was a high tempo game and they dominated the first half and we

:14:28. > :14:32.built up strongly and found a way to press them and they always found a

:14:33. > :14:38.way out. We had a few clear chances to score and in the second half we

:14:39. > :14:41.were on top of the game, but credit to Everton, they are the best side

:14:42. > :14:48.we faced this season in the Premier League. We know that there are teams

:14:49. > :14:52.who have spent a lot of money who are going to be challenging for the

:14:53. > :14:56.top item actress is but everyone is starting to realise how well we are

:14:57. > :15:04.doing. Life and football is perfect at the moment, isn't it? It is

:15:05. > :15:14.losing the gods, and living the life. He is a lucky man.

:15:15. > :15:20.You had two class sides playing at full throttle, the passing, the

:15:21. > :15:25.movement, the pace, the control, it was excellent, it was electric. And

:15:26. > :15:33.a pleasure to watch two great sites, and the draw was a fair result.

:15:34. > :15:41.Every week we argue about the use of the possession statistics. But in

:15:42. > :15:48.the first half, Mikel Arteta said, they had 62% of possession in the

:15:49. > :15:53.first half. They did not create too many fantastic chances with that.

:15:54. > :15:57.You do not often go to the Emirates and dominate Arsenal. They could not

:15:58. > :16:01.get out of their half. Everton pressed play up the pitch. I have

:16:02. > :16:07.not seen any Premier League side do to Arsenal in a long time. Did the

:16:08. > :16:13.attitude of the fullbacks signal that intent? They were a massive

:16:14. > :16:17.part of it. Robert Martin is set out his game plan to get forward as much

:16:18. > :16:22.as possible. Seamus Coleman had more touches in the attacking half, which

:16:23. > :16:26.should not happen at the Emirates. Bryan Oviedo was exactly the same.

:16:27. > :16:31.They got forward as much as they could. They pegged Arsenal back.

:16:32. > :16:36.Both of them at times going at the same time. This is Seamus Coleman

:16:37. > :16:40.down the right-hand side, not a brilliant cross, but Bryan Oviedo

:16:41. > :16:45.picks it up. That is right back to left back. They did it at Manchester

:16:46. > :16:49.United and got the late goal, and again, Seamus Coleman coming inside,

:16:50. > :16:55.it was a rash shot over the bar, but Bryan Oviedo was up there, as well.

:16:56. > :16:59.This is brilliant to see. Seamus Coleman running in behind, causing

:17:00. > :17:06.Arsenal problems and turning the defence. Bryan Oviedo at the far

:17:07. > :17:12.post, just in case. Finally, you see Bryan Oviedo on the far side. It is

:17:13. > :17:16.ridiculous, that they both go forward at will. They can do that

:17:17. > :17:21.purely because you have got Gareth Barry sitting in just in front of

:17:22. > :17:27.the back four. You have got two players sitting there, which means

:17:28. > :17:33.that the fullbacks can bomb forward. Would you have done that? No. A

:17:34. > :17:39.simple answer to a simple question. Let's hear about Ross Barkley, this

:17:40. > :17:46.is Roberto Martin ease on his performance. Ross Barkley is an

:17:47. > :17:51.incredible person. He has a real love for the game. I have never seen

:17:52. > :17:58.an English player with that sort of mentality, and we need to make sure

:17:59. > :18:04.that we give him another 50, 55 games to see his evolution. Any

:18:05. > :18:11.player with talent needs to develop an understanding and know-how to be

:18:12. > :18:16.effective. We have to be more protective of youngsters because we

:18:17. > :18:19.are talking about someone who, if we look after them properly, could give

:18:20. > :18:24.something unique to the English game and the nation. The fact that he

:18:25. > :18:32.says he's going to have 50 starts, does that highlight that he has got

:18:33. > :18:36.the right manager? That is because he is an Everton player. If he

:18:37. > :18:42.played for anybody else, it would be ten starts. This kid has got it

:18:43. > :18:45.all. Left foot, right foot, all of the attributes of a top-class

:18:46. > :18:50.player. And he has got the strength to go with it. Use always looking

:18:51. > :18:55.forward, ready to attack, and then if you have got a great left and

:18:56. > :19:02.right foot and vision and awareness like that, he is just scything

:19:03. > :19:09.between the Arsenal defenders there. What I like here is that all he

:19:10. > :19:12.wants to do is go forward. He likes to break the line of defence and go

:19:13. > :19:17.forward at every opportunity. He is prepared to take the risk. In the

:19:18. > :19:22.end that shot is not brilliant, but he's prepared to have a go. We coach

:19:23. > :19:27.that out of too many players in this country. Straight at the goalkeeper

:19:28. > :19:31.in the end but it is a good strike on target. As the ball comes into

:19:32. > :19:37.him, where is he thinking first remark most layers would play them

:19:38. > :19:41.back, play the safe option, but Ross Barkley is thinking, I can take

:19:42. > :19:46.these two players out of the game with a good turn and some skill, and

:19:47. > :19:53.off he goes, and he did that all game, he was very positive from the

:19:54. > :19:57.beginning. Do you both find that refreshing that a youngster is

:19:58. > :20:01.prepared to take people on, which maybe we have seen less of an recent

:20:02. > :20:08.years, as we encouraged a controlled way of playing? The unusual thing

:20:09. > :20:11.for a 20-year-old, when you get the right foot and left foot and that

:20:12. > :20:15.strong ability, is to have the strength to go along with it, and I

:20:16. > :20:22.tell you what, he can go right to the very top. It is the 8th of

:20:23. > :20:29.December, nine minutes to 11, by my watch. You would never expect me to

:20:30. > :20:34.say this on any programme at any time. I have been critical of Per

:20:35. > :20:38.Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny, but they were magnificent. Talking

:20:39. > :20:45.about central defensive play, the partnership, getting in position,

:20:46. > :20:55.they read it and they intercept, every single time. What I like about

:20:56. > :20:58.them, Per Mertesacker in particular, it was always neutral, so that they

:20:59. > :21:01.could go to the left or to the right. They intercept everything

:21:02. > :21:11.with consummate ease, every single time, both of them. Again, when you

:21:12. > :21:18.talk about the weight being neutral, he can go left or right, he reads

:21:19. > :21:21.it, he picks it up and plays it, and that is very difficult, to get in

:21:22. > :21:29.that good position and read as well as he has done. Again, he makes the

:21:30. > :21:34.tackle look simple. That position, the near post position, he can go

:21:35. > :21:42.left, right, and for Per Mertesacker to finish off. It was a wonderful

:21:43. > :21:47.performance. Per Mertesacker is not the quickest, if you can pull him

:21:48. > :21:51.out towards the halfway line then he is in trouble but when he is

:21:52. > :21:57.defending, this season he has been exceptionally good. One final thing

:21:58. > :22:02.we have to show was the shot that could have won it. It would have

:22:03. > :22:06.been unfair on Everton. But this summed up the game. It was

:22:07. > :22:11.sensational. The first touch and then they hit. It would have been

:22:12. > :22:16.harsh on Everton because they had played well, but that was worthy of

:22:17. > :22:21.winning the game. It was well outside the post and it comes in

:22:22. > :22:24.with the goalkeeper well beaten. He has that little nervous laugh, I

:22:25. > :22:31.cannot believe that it did not go in. Fulham against Aston Villa is

:22:32. > :22:35.still to come but now it is time for you to choose the November goal of

:22:36. > :22:51.the month. Here are the ten to pick from.

:22:52. > :22:59.Ramsey, shoots this time, brilliant shot, what a goal! Aaron Ramsey's

:23:00. > :23:15.season just gets better and better. Mice into play, Adam Lallana.

:23:16. > :23:21.Causing real problems. The ball sticking to his foot. That is

:23:22. > :23:26.absolutely brilliant. What a fantastic goal from Southampton's

:23:27. > :23:31.captain, Adam Lallana. Lovely coat -- lovely close control, great

:23:32. > :23:42.balance and skill, and still a tight angle.

:23:43. > :23:49.Support from Peter Crouch. And straight into the path of Stephen

:23:50. > :23:54.Ireland, brilliantly worked goal, from Stoke City. The triangle of

:23:55. > :23:58.passes, and at the point of that triangle, Stephen Ireland, and those

:23:59. > :23:59.who have made a visit from the potteries are delighted that they

:24:00. > :24:10.have done so. Seven games from Liverpool this

:24:11. > :24:14.season and eight holes. Luis Suarez. Nine goals. It curled in

:24:15. > :24:29.beautifully, right into the corner. Jonjo Shelvey, he is away from Steve

:24:30. > :24:33.Sidwell, and that there is a blockbuster. Rising drive high into

:24:34. > :24:51.the net. What a start from Hugo Lloris,

:24:52. > :24:55.gifting the ball to Sergio Aguero, and Jesus Navas scores, with 15

:24:56. > :25:06.seconds gone. Incredible. Just incredible.

:25:07. > :25:11.Alvaro Negredo, it could be five, it is five. Use making the game look

:25:12. > :25:28.easy. What a turn. That is a good ball. And forward

:25:29. > :25:32.towards Fraizer Campbell. 1-1. Straight through the middle. Slicing

:25:33. > :25:48.Manchester United apart. The ball over the top for Shane

:25:49. > :25:56.Long, and what a super goal by Shane Long. The touch enabled him to fire

:25:57. > :26:07.a left foot shot into the bottom left-hand corner.

:26:08. > :26:16.Moussa Sissoko with a shooting opportunity. What a strike from

:26:17. > :26:29.Cissokho. An absolute stunner. There are your ten goals. You can vote on

:26:30. > :26:32.the BBC sport website. Or you can tweet the hashtag of the goal you

:26:33. > :26:38.liked best, for example #Goal1, to @bbcmotd. Terms and conditions on

:26:39. > :26:42.the BBC website. Voting closes around 11.15pm this evening and we

:26:43. > :26:51.will announce the winner later in the show. Next to Craven Cottage.

:26:52. > :26:54.Fulham are in desperate trouble. Anonymous at the start, pitiful by

:26:55. > :27:01.the end, but they are trying to save themselves. Under new management

:27:02. > :27:10.there are signs of life, but they lost again, midweek. Today, they

:27:11. > :27:15.face Aston Villa, the poster boys of Premier League unpredictability,

:27:16. > :27:19.beating Arsenal and Manchester City, failing to win against

:27:20. > :27:25.Sunderland and West Ham. It was a tough one to call for John Murray. A

:27:26. > :27:30.trip to Craven Cottage is always enjoyable. The trouble for Fulham is

:27:31. > :27:33.that too many visiting teams leave feeling the same way. Rene

:27:34. > :27:38.Meulensteen became the successor to Martin Jol a week ago. For his first

:27:39. > :27:44.match he made seven changes. Today, just one, with Steve Sidwell

:27:45. > :27:53.returning to face one of his clubs, replacing Patjim Kasami. Ron Vlaar,

:27:54. > :27:59.Antonio Luna and Libor Kozak a royal absent, which means a return to the

:28:00. > :28:04.team for Chris Herd, Andreas Weimann and Christian Benteke. He was

:28:05. > :28:10.dropped to the bench for the trip to St Mary's 's, having not scored

:28:11. > :28:14.since mid-September. Craven Cottage now pays its tribute to not Mandela.

:28:15. > :28:33.-- to Nelson Mandela. It really is time to stop the rot,

:28:34. > :28:36.for Fulham. This run they are on at the moment is not good enough,

:28:37. > :28:44.having lost their last seven matches.

:28:45. > :28:52.Berbatov is suggesting he got shoved in the back. Ashkan Dejagah with the

:28:53. > :28:58.shot. Kieran Clark, behind Berbatov. I am not sure how much contact was

:28:59. > :29:05.or whether it justified a penalty. The corner kick, and that was an

:29:06. > :29:08.excellent save from Brad Guzan, from Berbatov. He needed the frame of the

:29:09. > :29:20.goal to help him, but that was a terrific stop. It is a five match

:29:21. > :29:38.unbeaten run for Aston Villa. That was the first sight of goal for

:29:39. > :29:48.Christian Benteke. He just needs a goal. It is mid-September since he

:29:49. > :29:53.last scored. It was last Sunday afternoon when Rene Meulensteen's

:29:54. > :29:55.appointment was confirmed. He now needs the results to go with the

:29:56. > :30:18.performance. A second chance for Christian

:30:19. > :30:25.Benteke. It looked as if it was going to open up for Fulham. If you

:30:26. > :30:29.remember Christian Benteke started the season almost scoring at will.

:30:30. > :30:33.Since then he has completely dried up. Paul Lambert today is without

:30:34. > :30:53.his captain. He was onside. It is off the line by

:30:54. > :30:55.Baker. Ashkan Dejagah looked as though he was offside. He might have

:30:56. > :31:21.been caught. He has scored! Somehow he managed to

:31:22. > :31:25.direct that on target. Steve Sidwell against his former club almost

:31:26. > :31:33.midway through the first half. Fulham, just as on Wednesday night,

:31:34. > :31:38.are in front. What did he do there? A really cute touch from Steve

:31:39. > :31:47.Sidwell. He scored his third goal of the season. Now, this time on Fulham

:31:48. > :32:04.going to be able to keep the lead they have given themselves.

:32:05. > :32:20.And Leandro Bacuna has failed him. It is a penalty. That is a quizzical

:32:21. > :32:28.look from Leandro Bacuna. It is the contact on the back of his leg.

:32:29. > :32:41.There is no card. Dimitar Berbatov, who has not scored in his last five

:32:42. > :32:46.appearances. Well, almost only Dimitar Berbatov can score a penalty

:32:47. > :32:53.like that. How many times did it bounced before it ended up in the

:32:54. > :33:02.back of the net? And the second bounce into the bottom corner. So

:33:03. > :33:07.cool. Today surely must be the day that the full end this losing run.

:33:08. > :33:39.If they do not, there will be serious questions.

:33:40. > :33:43.I think Paul Lambert will feel if they can get a goal they might be

:33:44. > :34:06.able to rattle Fulham. That was lovely from Fulham. It is

:34:07. > :34:08.amazing what a couple of goals will do for confidence. And Dimitar

:34:09. > :34:14.Berbatov is at the heart of things. When you see him like he is to

:34:15. > :34:26.date, you wonder how they could exist without him.

:34:27. > :34:35.It put me in mind of the opening goal he scored in Euro 2004 for

:34:36. > :34:49.Greece against Portugal. There is the former Fulham manager, who is in

:34:50. > :35:14.charge of Wales. That was almost a kick out by Berbatov.

:35:15. > :35:22.He came a long way, but he did not make it and it was so close to

:35:23. > :35:27.three. That was a rare misjudgement by Brad Guzan. John Arne Riise was

:35:28. > :35:52.just a couple of inches away. No penalty. Agbonlahor wonders why.

:35:53. > :35:54.They looked to be contact. That is tight. I think Agbonlahor did have a

:35:55. > :36:30.case for a penalty. And there we have it. Seven weeks of

:36:31. > :36:35.losing is over for Fulham. And Rene Meulensteen has his first victory

:36:36. > :36:39.since taking over from Martin Jol one week ago. I asked the guys to

:36:40. > :36:44.build on the performance from last Wednesday and I think they deserved

:36:45. > :36:50.more out of the game and they needed to keep on building. I was

:36:51. > :36:57.disappointed. Especially with the penalties. I thought the first was

:36:58. > :37:06.not and I thought ours was. I thought we did enough to win. It is

:37:07. > :37:11.always about opinions. We were lucky to get the first one and sometimes

:37:12. > :37:17.football is like that. There is nobody in his way, the referee can

:37:18. > :37:28.see it. There is nobody impeding his view. I thought his performance

:37:29. > :37:40.today was put. It was a bit unfair on Martin because it was a little

:37:41. > :37:42.bit too late. It is a shame, but we need to carry on and try and

:37:43. > :38:01.maintain it. Both managers agree. The first one

:38:02. > :38:05.was a bad decision. Leandro Bacuna does not want to go in a straight

:38:06. > :38:15.line because straight behind him and any contact and there is a penalty.

:38:16. > :38:20.He goes to his right and then he comes in and I think the Fulham

:38:21. > :38:26.player goes in and barges into him. I do not think there is a foul. It

:38:27. > :38:33.was a bit like Ramirez against West Bromwich. Leandro Bacuna cannot do

:38:34. > :38:37.anything to get out of the way. I think Agbonlahor goes down

:38:38. > :38:41.theatrically, but when you see the second look there is definite

:38:42. > :38:46.contact and there is a foul and again the referee had a good view of

:38:47. > :38:52.that. If he had gone down naturally, he might have got it? He

:38:53. > :38:56.throws his arms up in the air and it puts a doubt in the referee's mine.

:38:57. > :39:13.The referee was wrong in both counts. Karagounis has started in

:39:14. > :39:16.both games with Rene Meulensteen. He did everything. You want an

:39:17. > :39:24.experienced midfield player to do this. He tackled, he passed it well,

:39:25. > :39:31.but it was all three of them for me. Steve Sidwell and Parker and

:39:32. > :39:35.Karagounis. For three players who have not played together that often,

:39:36. > :39:39.they understood each other. Karagounis is the more advanced of

:39:40. > :39:47.the three, although he is the oldest at 36. Steve Sidwell breaks the

:39:48. > :39:51.first one up. Karagounis gets a fantastic hug from his manager and

:39:52. > :39:57.Parker and Steve Sidwell carried on all the good work, they got in

:39:58. > :40:02.tackle after a tackle. They give you that comfort blanket. All three

:40:03. > :40:09.players are closing down the ball. Karagounis picks it up and plays it

:40:10. > :40:13.into Berbatov. He gets the little 1-2 and Sidwell runs on and scooped

:40:14. > :40:20.it into the back of the net. Those three players, their experience gave

:40:21. > :40:25.them something else. We were talking about the age of the Fulham side.

:40:26. > :40:31.That was the oldest named side in the Premier League this season. So

:40:32. > :40:35.sometimes age works for you. But they were trying today, and in the

:40:36. > :40:39.past they were not trying, especially the player you mentioned

:40:40. > :40:46.now. You definitely was trying today. Under Martin Jol he was not

:40:47. > :40:53.trying. Today he was a different player. This was the first couple of

:40:54. > :40:57.minutes of the game. He tried to make things happen. We all know what

:40:58. > :41:04.a fantastic player he is and what great touches he has got, but he was

:41:05. > :41:14.winning and holding the ball up and getting back to help defenders. He

:41:15. > :41:18.steps up himself as cool as you like and waits for the goalkeeper to move

:41:19. > :41:24.and that touch is majestic. The players are scared of him. He is

:41:25. > :41:28.able to do that because they give him that security blanket. You can

:41:29. > :41:36.afford to play a luxury player like Dimitar Berbatov. Today he looked

:41:37. > :41:42.like a completely different player. It was passing and flicks and tricks

:41:43. > :41:50.all afternoon. Technically in the top three, possibly number one, but

:41:51. > :41:55.his attitude is appalling. With one hand you give Earth and another you

:41:56. > :42:04.take away. That is the way you do this job. We looked at Everton area

:42:05. > :42:12.dashed earlier. You have got to have the right structure. What Leandro

:42:13. > :42:20.Bacuna did today in the first half is he stood up there and left space

:42:21. > :42:24.in behind like it was beyond belief. He is the other side of the pitch

:42:25. > :42:30.and what he does is he is watching and he is going forward and going

:42:31. > :42:36.forward. We are going to highlight how much space is in there. There is

:42:37. > :42:41.not an Aston Villa player in that area and sooner or later you are

:42:42. > :42:46.going to pay for it. He is just standing there, he is not arriving

:42:47. > :42:52.in that position. So any breakdown and there is trouble. This is where

:42:53. > :42:59.the penalty kick comes from. He gets attracted to the ball and Leandro

:43:00. > :43:11.Bacuna is the wrong side. It was a major problem all afternoon. He has

:43:12. > :43:18.contributed to his own downfall. But in Fulham he is not interested in

:43:19. > :43:22.going forward, John Arne Riise. He is still not interested in going

:43:23. > :43:28.forward. Is he going to come into the picture? Now they are in

:43:29. > :43:32.possession and in good position and he gets forward and gets in a great

:43:33. > :43:40.position and that is the way you do it. And Parker is providing that

:43:41. > :43:46.safety blanket. Absolutely. This time next week we will know the new

:43:47. > :43:51.Sports Personality Of The Year. How can a programme that has been around

:43:52. > :43:56.for so long remain so relevant? The second anybody does anything great,

:43:57. > :44:04.they will win Sports Personality Of The Year. Perhaps it is the

:44:05. > :44:08.memories. Maybe it is the moment. Three-time Grand National winner,

:44:09. > :44:13.can you get into this live? It is the most iconic trophy in sport. I

:44:14. > :44:24.would like to thank everybody who voted. The Sports Personality Of The

:44:25. > :44:40.Year. We begin our round up of yesterday's games at Old Trafford.

:44:41. > :44:45.Alan Pardew had a game plan. And could that have been a penalty? It

:44:46. > :44:50.was a very difficult one to give. He does not know where the ball is. But

:44:51. > :44:55.the difference, was the two midfield players, I think that both you and

:44:56. > :45:02.you buy an Cheikh Tiote would walk into the United team. Without Wayne

:45:03. > :45:05.Rooney at the moment, they look devoid of confidence and

:45:06. > :45:12.inspiration. It was a well-deserved victory. You're looking forward

:45:13. > :45:18.class players to provide something extra when you are struggling. But

:45:19. > :45:21.Rooney was suspended. Robin Van Persie has been out for four

:45:22. > :45:27.matches. And you're sitting in the dressing room and struggling.

:45:28. > :45:30.Newcastle, at any other time they might have won the game, but when

:45:31. > :45:34.you're struggling everything goes against you. There was only one way

:45:35. > :45:38.they're going to get out of trouble and that is by playing better, and

:45:39. > :45:39.it is up to the layers, individually and collectively, to do better on

:45:40. > :45:48.the pitch. How many times have you spoken about

:45:49. > :45:52.the Manchester United midfielder needing something else and yet it

:45:53. > :46:01.still has not been done? This has been the talking point of the

:46:02. > :46:04.summer. It was well documented. What they need is somebody who is

:46:05. > :46:10.creative in the middle of the park but where do you find it? All of a

:46:11. > :46:14.sudden, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are getting long in the tooth

:46:15. > :46:19.and you need a good centre back. At the minute, you're still attracting

:46:20. > :46:24.the best players at Manchester United, but they are going to have

:46:25. > :46:28.to spend big in January. Might they not be able to attract them if

:46:29. > :46:32.things are still not going well? If they do not get into the Champions

:46:33. > :46:35.League, they are still a major club, Manchester United, but players go

:46:36. > :46:44.for money first, then the Champions League. The next batch of

:46:45. > :46:50.yesterday's games involves the sides pushing Arsenal at the top. Jose

:46:51. > :46:55.Mourinho's Chelsea have conceded 17 league goals, more than in his

:46:56. > :46:59.entire first season at the club in 2004. Yesterday, Stoke City took

:47:00. > :47:05.advantage to win by the odd goal in five.

:47:06. > :47:13.Nowadays with Andre Schurrle. Turning Ryan Shawcross and curling

:47:14. > :47:20.it in. It is the perfect pennies from Andre Schurrle. The perfect

:47:21. > :47:23.start for Chelsea. He beat Ryan Shawcross not once but twice before

:47:24. > :47:32.unleashing the shot into the bottom corner past Asmir Begovic. And

:47:33. > :47:36.Chelsea into an early lead. Petr Cech thought about it and did not

:47:37. > :47:43.quite get there. Stoke City have the equaliser, Peter Crouch! Petr Cech

:47:44. > :47:47.thought about coming, then you had second thoughts, did not go for it,

:47:48. > :47:48.got stuck in no man's land, and Peter Crouch found the bottom of the

:47:49. > :47:59.net. No foul awarded for the challenge by

:48:00. > :48:04.Jon Walters on Azpilicueta. Now it is with Stephen Ireland, and he goes

:48:05. > :48:10.the goal, and he scores. And Stoke City have turned this game on its

:48:11. > :48:14.head. Azpilicueta went down. There was a look to the referee. No free

:48:15. > :48:20.kick awarded to Chelsea, and Stephen Ireland finishes the job and

:48:21. > :48:27.Chelsea, who looked in control of the game for most of the first half,

:48:28. > :48:35.find themselves behind. Juan Mata prepares to take this. Plenty

:48:36. > :48:43.forward for it as well. There is Andre Schurrle, what a strike. Into

:48:44. > :48:50.the net like a laser. Half cleared by the defence, and they Benameur 's

:48:51. > :49:00.shot from Andre Schurrle. -- it was a Benameur shot. -- venomous. What a

:49:01. > :49:05.goal, and what a winner for Stoke City from Oussama Assaidi. The

:49:06. > :49:15.Britannia Stadium goes absolutely mad. The late substitute wins the

:49:16. > :49:19.day, surely. What a finish. He has not had much to cheer about in the

:49:20. > :49:23.last few weeks but he enjoyed that. More points dropped on the road by

:49:24. > :49:26.Manchester City, but take nothing away from Southampton who were

:49:27. > :49:33.excellent, and scored one of the goals of the season. Samia nursery.

:49:34. > :49:43.Column of -- Samia Nazarene. That was avoidable from

:49:44. > :49:48.Southampton's point of view. Clinical from the point of view of

:49:49. > :49:58.Manchester City, and Sergio Aguero, who is in deadly form, rattles home

:49:59. > :50:02.another. Help on the Dani Osvaldo. He was never going to run away from

:50:03. > :50:11.Vincent Kompany, but he turns, twice, three times, what a goal!

:50:12. > :50:18.That is absolutely brilliant. ?15 million it costs from AS Roma and

:50:19. > :50:23.that is by 1 million miles the best thing he has done for Southampton.

:50:24. > :50:28.Sensational, from Dani Osvaldo. How many times did he beat Vincent

:50:29. > :50:33.Kompany? And then, inch perfect, over the top of the goalkeeper, who

:50:34. > :50:40.is six foot eight, remember. That is a special moment. As good a goal as

:50:41. > :50:48.you will see. Another block of goals at Anfield with Luis Suarez on the

:50:49. > :50:53.target again. Two defeats for West Ham.

:50:54. > :51:05.Luis Suarez gets it back from Johnson, how unfortunate, off the

:51:06. > :51:14.ride ML, and into the West Ham net. Kept out by Jaaskelainen, but

:51:15. > :51:22.against the shins of his right back. -- off Guy Demel. Gerard's delivery

:51:23. > :51:31.is good, and that is in. Another scrappy goal. Sakho, Going for gold,

:51:32. > :51:35.and the other central defender, Martin Skrtel, charged down the

:51:36. > :51:40.attempted clearance by James Collins, and now Liverpool have

:51:41. > :51:50.daylight between themselves and West Ham. Martin Skrtel, with the own

:51:51. > :51:53.goal. He scored one at Hull City a couple of weeks ago and maybe there

:51:54. > :52:00.was a way back for West Ham United. The delivery from Demel. Jarvis put

:52:01. > :52:09.it back into the mix, and then Martin Skrtel gets to it.

:52:10. > :52:15.Glen Johnson, looking for Luis Suarez. It had to be. It is not

:52:16. > :52:21.Liverpool at Anfield unless Luis Suarez scores this season. Fabulous

:52:22. > :52:28.delivery from Glen Johnson. Look at how Luis Suarez time could run

:52:29. > :52:34.valiantly. -- times his run brilliantly. Surely that is the end

:52:35. > :52:40.of Sam Allardyce's hopes of leaving Anfield with anything today. The

:52:41. > :52:44.throw-in, looking for Jordan Henderson. That was a nasty tackle

:52:45. > :52:50.from the West Ham captain, Kevin Nolan, and the referee wants a word.

:52:51. > :52:54.It is a straight red card for Kevin Nolan. Well spotted by Michael

:52:55. > :53:00.Oliver. It was nasty. He stamped on his calf. Kevin Nolan said. -- sent

:53:01. > :53:11.off. This is Luis Suarez. Away from Mark

:53:12. > :53:17.Noble. Going for gold. Deflected, and in. It took a wicked deflection

:53:18. > :53:22.on its way, off the shoulder of Joey O'Brien, and Jussi Jaaskelainen

:53:23. > :53:30.completely wrong-footed. The final score at Anfield, Liverpool four,

:53:31. > :53:32.West Ham United, one. We will look at the rest of those games from

:53:33. > :53:42.yesterday, shortly. Jose Mourinho and Chelsea only five

:53:43. > :53:47.points behind Arsenal but they have got to sort the defence out. They

:53:48. > :53:54.have got to sort everything out. Manchester City on the road, they

:53:55. > :53:57.have struggled. There are six contenders for the title, I think

:53:58. > :54:03.that there are probably three, and Chelsea are still one of them. I

:54:04. > :54:08.agree. Just me and Manchester City are favourites, for me, Arsenal fans

:54:09. > :54:11.might nervously argue with that. Not quite sure about Arsenal but they

:54:12. > :54:16.are up there at the moment. But Josie have got a strong squad. But

:54:17. > :54:20.it is not quite going right for them at the moment. If Manchester City

:54:21. > :54:25.can sort out the away form, they have got the best squad and the best

:54:26. > :54:32.strikeforce. These next three weeks will tell us a lot. If Arsenal go to

:54:33. > :54:39.the Etihad Stadium and get a result, the way that Manchester City

:54:40. > :54:42.have played at home, it is like they are beatable. It is going to be

:54:43. > :54:49.tough, for Arsenal. -- they are invincible. I think Arsenal fans, if

:54:50. > :54:54.they can add an extra centre forward, that is the only position

:54:55. > :54:56.in which they lack, if they can enhance what Olivier Giroud gives

:54:57. > :55:04.them, they might have a real chance of winning the Premier League. He

:55:05. > :55:09.had been saying that they have got no chance. The vote is now closed

:55:10. > :55:10.for goal of the month. You will see the winner after the rest of

:55:11. > :55:24.yesterday's games. Crystal Palace are on a roll, only

:55:25. > :55:27.conceding one goal in the last five matches, winning three of them, but

:55:28. > :55:34.it is now five games without a victory for Cardiff City. Cameron

:55:35. > :55:41.Jerome as goal side and cannot get the shot away. Picked up by Jason

:55:42. > :55:49.Puncheon. My stern, and the opening goal from Cameron Jerome. -- nice

:55:50. > :55:54.turn. It is his first goal for since early federally, his first goal for

:55:55. > :56:02.us to Palace and it is a huge goal for the London side. The curling

:56:03. > :56:07.cross, it falls to Marouane Chamakh, and two goals in a week, for

:56:08. > :56:10.Marouane Chamakh. Barry Bannan with it teasing cross, it was only

:56:11. > :56:15.cleared as far as Marouane Chamakh, one touch to control, and one touch

:56:16. > :56:23.the slotted past David Marshall. And it has given them valuable breathing

:56:24. > :56:26.space against Cardiff. After their midweek mauling at Anfield, Chris

:56:27. > :56:38.Hughton demanded a response from his players and yesterday at West Brom,

:56:39. > :56:44.he got it. On towards Gary Hooper, he will get there, and he scores.

:56:45. > :56:49.Norwich City have the ideal start. Their top scorer gets his third

:56:50. > :56:54.Premier League goal. Leroy Fer, Norwich City looking to sink West

:56:55. > :57:01.from, once and for all. And they have done it. Chris Hughton can

:57:02. > :57:07.celebrate. After those disappointing awaydays, four defeats on their

:57:08. > :57:11.travels, it is going to come to an end, that one, with victory at the

:57:12. > :57:16.hawthorns, and he deserves that change of fortune. With teams around

:57:17. > :57:21.them winning before their tea-time kick-off, Sunderland knew that

:57:22. > :57:25.defeat against Spurs would leave them slightly adrift at the bottom.

:57:26. > :57:37.They are now slightly adrift at the bottom. Hugo Lloris comes out, not

:57:38. > :57:42.convincingly, and Adam Johnson hammers at home. Hugo Lloris

:57:43. > :57:47.punished in the worst possible fashion. And Sunderland, in front.

:57:48. > :57:56.The cross should have been dealt with by Hugo Lloris. He will not

:57:57. > :58:00.want to see that again. The delivery from Kyle Walker. And a good header

:58:01. > :58:08.back, and Spurs are level. Paulinho celebrates. Walker's delivery looked

:58:09. > :58:16.as if it had been overhead, but Nacer Chadli did well, and Paulinho

:58:17. > :58:25.got there first, to stab at home. -- it home. Moussa Dembele, back in the

:58:26. > :58:30.starting 11 today. Jack Colback has gone back with him. Moussa Dembele

:58:31. > :58:37.has gone past him, and it has gone in. John O'Shea cannot believe it.

:58:38. > :58:42.Neither can Vito Mannone, the cross coming off the boot of John O'Shea.

:58:43. > :58:46.What a good week for Andre Villas-Boas and bottom. -- and

:58:47. > :58:56.Tottenham. You said that was a good result for

:58:57. > :59:00.Norwich. Yes, they got hammered at Anfield and have been pretty poor on

:59:01. > :59:04.their travels, but you pick themselves up and go to West Brom

:59:05. > :59:08.and play for the club and their manager, that was brilliant from the

:59:09. > :59:12.players, and that was three points he did not think he was going to

:59:13. > :59:17.get. They need to kick on from that. I talked to Chris Hughton after they

:59:18. > :59:21.had won at Stoke City. They have got a good result and then they have got

:59:22. > :59:27.thumped again. They need to build on that. It is encouraging for Norwich

:59:28. > :59:33.and their fans, they have got players who will score goals, Gary

:59:34. > :59:37.Hooper, Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, and out of the teams down there, they

:59:38. > :59:40.have got sort of players. Cardiff would be a worrying once the meat.

:59:41. > :59:45.They started the season well, but now they are just carping to slide

:59:46. > :59:49.down, the performance is not as good as they were, and maybe those off

:59:50. > :59:57.the field problems starting to come to the fore. Fulham have gone,

:59:58. > :00:01.Crystal Palace have gone, but not any more, Crystal Palace have had a

:00:02. > :00:10.great one, and even Sunderland, at the start of the game, they are

:00:11. > :00:11.close, closer than before, and it is not inconceivable that they can get

:00:12. > :00:26.out of trouble. The home fixtures for the teams. It

:00:27. > :00:43.is time to reveal who you picked as the scorer of the goal of the month.

:00:44. > :01:11.This is how you have voted. It comes from Aaron Ramsey.

:01:12. > :01:18.Aaron Ramsey's season just gets better and better. Everything is

:01:19. > :01:28.flying in for the Welshman. This has been quite a good show for Arsenal

:01:29. > :01:33.fans. Danny said they could win the title and now Aaron Ramsey has one

:01:34. > :01:39.goal of the month. For me Adam Lallana's goal was magnificent. If

:01:40. > :01:43.that was true and matter we would have been eulogising how good it

:01:44. > :01:53.was. And I cannot believe Shane Long did not get a mention. Ramsey has

:01:54. > :01:59.been phenomenal this season after his trials and tribulations, but

:02:00. > :02:04.Adam Lallana's goal was better. You would have gone for a Shane Long?

:02:05. > :02:06.But on this occasion your thoughts do not matter. It is all about the

:02:07. > :02:31.public! This is from midweek. This is

:02:32. > :02:38.Manchester City's game at West Brom. Joe Hart through his chewing gum at
