:00:24. > :01:32.Today sees the start of the final round of group games. It is the last

:01:33. > :01:37.time for the Group A teams in Lyons. Romania have only won one ever at a

:01:38. > :01:45.European Championship and will try and double that at the stadium. It

:01:46. > :01:50.has not been dream for Albania. They have no goals and zero points.

:01:51. > :01:54.Victory today might be enough to qualify for the last 16.

:01:55. > :01:59.So, two teams with plenty to play for today and two men with plenty of

:02:00. > :02:03.opinions here with me in the studio. It is great to see the two of you.

:02:04. > :02:08.Both teams here have to win this game in Lyons. Considering they have

:02:09. > :02:13.not won one yet for a great spectacle. You look at Albania and

:02:14. > :02:18.they are unfortunate not to get any points out of the games. The first

:02:19. > :02:21.Romania against France, we saw how difficult they made it for France.

:02:22. > :02:26.It will be a big game. They both have to go for it and both try and

:02:27. > :02:32.win. I am excited. I want to see two teams who have had a lot of the ball

:02:33. > :02:37.but cannot score goals. Host France were going to be the ones to beat.

:02:38. > :02:51.There has not been much between all four teams so far.

:02:52. > :02:58.It is time for kick-off. A header off the post and France

:02:59. > :03:04.comes so close. Attacks it and scores... The referee

:03:05. > :03:10.gives the penalty. 1-1. They are leaving this late, France. And what

:03:11. > :03:16.a wonderful goal! A late, late show for the hosts. Looking ahead to the

:03:17. > :03:21.back of the net. Switzerland are ahead inside the

:03:22. > :03:26.first five minutes of the game. There was a bit of a shirt tugged

:03:27. > :03:29.there and a penalty given. The squad against France and scores against

:03:30. > :03:34.Switzerland. 57 minutes on the clock... Better

:03:35. > :03:38.get on with it. And that's the equaliser.

:03:39. > :03:42.We are about to go into the final five minutes and still we await our

:03:43. > :03:46.first goal. There is still time for a chance or

:03:47. > :03:56.two. Oh, what an untimely slip! The day

:03:57. > :04:03.is saved for France. The hero of the hour... He can seal the deal here

:04:04. > :04:09.and he has. Two goals right at the death. Albeit very, very late.

:04:10. > :04:15.So France have qualified For the second round. A draw would see them

:04:16. > :04:21.and Switzerland both definitely through to the last 16, with four of

:04:22. > :04:27.the sixth fourth placed teams qualifying. Romania and Albania have

:04:28. > :04:33.a big incentive to go for that win tonight. One man who has been

:04:34. > :04:37.keeping an eye on this has been talking to us.

:04:38. > :04:43.How are you surviving as a fan? It is not easy. I just want the

:04:44. > :04:49.national team to do well. The Stade de France is a nerve-tingling

:04:50. > :04:55.experience tonight... We've had a lot of emotions.

:04:56. > :04:59.What a wonderful goal! I was watching the game, the first one I

:05:00. > :05:04.was all over the place. I screamed when we conceded a penalty. The

:05:05. > :05:12.second one, I was thinking, well, a point is not too bad and then

:05:13. > :05:17.Griezman scored. It saves the day for France. You can see that they

:05:18. > :05:22.are not there yet in terms of how they can play. But, you know,

:05:23. > :05:26.positive, because we are through. In all fairness, you have to give

:05:27. > :05:30.credit, a lot of credit to Romania and Albania. We have seen recently,

:05:31. > :05:39.in some of the games, it is not easy. It is not easy to win.

:05:40. > :05:43.I can understand that sometimes people prefer this or that, but we

:05:44. > :05:48.are all in it together. This is the team we have. We will have to

:05:49. > :05:53.perform and support the team. Against Romania and against Albania.

:05:54. > :05:59.That is what the crowd did. So, so far, so good. Let's hope that

:06:00. > :06:03.maybe the team can play better. I tell you what, if they win the

:06:04. > :06:08.tournament, every time there is a goal at the last minute and not

:06:09. > :06:11.playing so well, I don't care - so long as we win.

:06:12. > :06:18.And you can watch France and Switzerland over on BBC One now.

:06:19. > :06:21.Here on BBC Four we are concentrating on the big game in

:06:22. > :06:25.Lyons. Two teams fancy their chances of making it through. That is the

:06:26. > :06:30.advantage of expanding it to 24 sides. The new expansion of 24

:06:31. > :06:34.teams, you look at it and you think, there'll be some teams there are not

:06:35. > :06:38.good enough to perform at this level, but from the results we have

:06:39. > :06:42.seen everyone has come prepared. Everyone has read it and defensively

:06:43. > :06:47.organised. They are not giving away anything cheaply. It is scoring at

:06:48. > :06:51.the other end. You get to see new players. You get to see new talent.

:06:52. > :06:55.Oh, I didn't realise he played there! It is nice to see these two

:06:56. > :06:59.smaller nations, when it comes to football, they have still got a

:07:00. > :07:02.sniff. They have got to go to the next level. At the moment they are

:07:03. > :07:07.similar how they have played. They have to go to the next level and

:07:08. > :07:11.then they could go to the next round if they score enough goals. In

:07:12. > :07:17.qualifying that is what these teams showed. 11 for Romania. 10 for

:07:18. > :07:24.Albania. Did you expect them to go for it? I don't think they will be

:07:25. > :07:28.gung ho. They will be aware of what is going on behind them when they

:07:29. > :07:31.are going forward. At some stage, especially Albania, they need to get

:07:32. > :07:35.that win. They need to get that win. I think three points might give them

:07:36. > :07:42.a chance to get to the knockout chances. Albania are not helped by

:07:43. > :07:47.the fact their all-time leading score retired three years ago. Their

:07:48. > :07:52.second one is a defender. Left them in the lurch. You are

:07:53. > :07:57.right and I have watched them, the other two games of Albania and they

:07:58. > :08:01.play some really good stuff. They gave France a huge scare. France had

:08:02. > :08:08.to play and play and play. They could not break them down. Albania

:08:09. > :08:12.played toe-to-toe. Against Switzerland the captain was sent off

:08:13. > :08:18.after 36 minutes and it took until the end that they got that goal. If

:08:19. > :08:25.you want to have your say on how this and the other Euro 2016 games

:08:26. > :08:29.will go play predictor game. There will be England's game against

:08:30. > :08:34.Slovakia tomorrow. Gabby has been speaking to the

:08:35. > :08:41.defensive linchpin that is Chris Smalling.

:08:42. > :08:47.Congratulations on the victory over Wales. Was it tough to not get

:08:48. > :08:50.caught up in all the kind of trash talk really. You all seemed to be

:08:51. > :08:55.very calm. Was that a concerted effort? It was. I think as soon as

:08:56. > :08:59.the groups were announced, I think we all knew the his tierry ya and

:09:00. > :09:02.all that would come. As players we kept compose and knew we would let

:09:03. > :09:07.our feet do the talking on the pitch. Were you able to dip in and

:09:08. > :09:10.savour that as well? Especially when the winner came in you could see all

:09:11. > :09:14.the subs t coaching staff and everyone, I think, really lived that

:09:15. > :09:17.moment. You say the coaching staff. There was only one member of the

:09:18. > :09:26.coaching staff that made it right into the ma lay. Were you surprised

:09:27. > :09:32.to see Gary Neville there? I think our coach was passionate. It is

:09:33. > :09:35.great to see when you see the passion overriding everything and

:09:36. > :09:40.you celebrate as a team. What is it like being one of three centre

:09:41. > :09:44.halves in this team - which was a strange choice for Roy to leave

:09:45. > :09:49.himself exposed. Do you think you have to wrap yourself up in cotton

:09:50. > :09:53.wool? That is often when you can pick up an injury. My game is very

:09:54. > :09:57.much aggressive and I like to be on the front foot. I never hold back

:09:58. > :10:04.and try and play my game, no matter what. A lot of worries were towards

:10:05. > :10:08.the defence. It proves it more to anchor yourself that we are the men

:10:09. > :10:12.who are chosen and we are good enough to prove that. When you step

:10:13. > :10:17.off the bus before the training session and your knee with a bandage

:10:18. > :10:22.on it and everybody jumps on that as an injury, you realise people are

:10:23. > :10:26.fearful. It is nice to be cared for. I got so many messages from friends

:10:27. > :10:34.and family about that. That was almost a normal recovery for me, so

:10:35. > :10:38.I am tip-top for the next competition. England put themselves

:10:39. > :10:42.into the first place in Group B. I think everyone may be more relaxed

:10:43. > :10:46.because we got that win. It is about moving on now and making sure that

:10:47. > :10:54.we finish this job and finish top of the group. What about Slovakia? They

:10:55. > :10:58.were unlucky in the first game. They have two attacking winners who

:10:59. > :11:02.switch it on in big games. The fact they need a result will open up gaps

:11:03. > :11:05.for us. At some point they'll have to open up and attack.

:11:06. > :11:15.It will be interesting to see how Roy approaches the game on Monday.

:11:16. > :11:18.It is a question everyone is asking, will Vardy and Sturridge start? I am

:11:19. > :11:23.not sure they will both start. What I would say is I think you look at

:11:24. > :11:29.Kane and his performances. I feel he looked really tired. I think, not

:11:30. > :11:36.only for Harry Kane, to give him a rest, but for the players like Vardy

:11:37. > :11:41.and Sturridge not to lose them. If you play Kane and he's off it, it

:11:42. > :11:46.doesn't matter how they are doing in training they will never get that

:11:47. > :11:50.start. I feel it is very important, psychologically that Roy man-manages

:11:51. > :11:57.the players really well and makes the right call, whatever that is. Do

:11:58. > :12:02.you agree? As Trev said on the bench, you don't want to lose the

:12:03. > :12:06.bench. You do not want to lose the players' positive attitude. If you

:12:07. > :12:11.start to lose them it will be difficult. What we have seen there

:12:12. > :12:14.is a player, in Daniel Sturridge, who can do something that the other

:12:15. > :12:17.forwards cannot do. They cannot make something out of nothing. When it

:12:18. > :12:22.comes to a little bit of skin, I am talking about. -- a little bit of

:12:23. > :12:27.skill. Half-time n the last game, Harry was

:12:28. > :12:33.not working for them. Sterling was not having the best of games. They

:12:34. > :12:37.will hold their hands up to that. Play to their strengths. Get the

:12:38. > :12:43.ball to them. Over the top and look what happened. Roy sees him

:12:44. > :12:48.day-to-day. He can make the call. What about any situations or

:12:49. > :12:52.decisions to be made in midfield. Do we stick with Rooney in there? For

:12:53. > :12:57.me, definitely. Wayne has been very brave. He knows the nation is on his

:12:58. > :13:01.shoulders. Let him do what he wants to do. He will always affect a game,

:13:02. > :13:06.because he's that good. Give him a lot of the ball and he will make

:13:07. > :13:10.lots of things happen and that young lad as well, Alli. That is another

:13:11. > :13:15.you mentioned before we came on air. You said he looks tired as well. One

:13:16. > :13:19.of his biggest fans, but he's had a long, long season. It remains to be

:13:20. > :13:23.seen what Roy does on Monday. Despite their loss to England, Wales

:13:24. > :13:27.are very much in control of their own destiny, of course, after their

:13:28. > :13:29.game against Russia. Key to their chances is the captain, Ashley

:13:30. > :13:40.Williams. Injury time, it is England's best

:13:41. > :13:46.chance... It is a win for St George and defeat for the dragon.

:13:47. > :13:50.Ashley Williams watched an almost guaranteed place in the next round

:13:51. > :13:56.slip away in the dying seconds. This man is not deterred. Ashley

:13:57. > :14:01.Williams, the captain, the rock. Right at the end of the game, you

:14:02. > :14:05.all went into a big huddle, just by the Wales fans. What was said there?

:14:06. > :14:11.I wanted to say, don't walk off the pitch with your head down. Be proud

:14:12. > :14:16.of what we have achieved so far. For the fans no t to go off the pitch

:14:17. > :14:20.and everything is doom and gloom. We moved and got our mind as sharp as

:14:21. > :14:23.it can be for the Russia game. This is the biggest game of our careers,

:14:24. > :14:26.really. We will have our game plan, which obviously I will not say now.

:14:27. > :14:30.We understand that maybe a draw might be enough for us. We don't

:14:31. > :14:37.want to risk that. We want to go out there and play.

:14:38. > :14:41.He's obviously nice guy and everybody gets on with him.

:14:42. > :14:46.Whichever team he's in, he's the loudest guy there. If you lead the

:14:47. > :14:51.team you can be vocal, but have to be a good leader on the pitch. He

:14:52. > :14:59.can stay at a good level. Ashley Williams...

:15:00. > :15:08.Some people call yourself "The Rock" - how do you see yourself? Always

:15:09. > :15:12.think I can be a better leader of the group. How would you like the

:15:13. > :15:18.other guys to describe you? What I'd like or what you think they'd say?

:15:19. > :15:22.What you'd like? Positive. Always trying - I'm always trying to be

:15:23. > :15:29.positive and hopefully they would say that he does his best in which

:15:30. > :15:40.ever way he can. Who calls him "The Rock"? Who started that one? What do

:15:41. > :15:44.you think they'd say? He's loud and obnoxious and annoying. Trevor

:15:45. > :15:51.thought they were talking about a chocolate! Let's start with you,

:15:52. > :15:57.Dion. Do Wales need picking up after what happened against England? No. I

:15:58. > :16:00.think there is enough within that dressing room, there's enough

:16:01. > :16:03.winners and strong characters to pick themselves up. They know how

:16:04. > :16:09.good they have done so far. They know how unfortunate they were not

:16:10. > :16:12.to get a draw against England. I thought England just deserved it in

:16:13. > :16:16.the end. Wales will be thinking, God, just those few minutes we let

:16:17. > :16:20.ourselves down. They will think, right, this is it, let's have a go.

:16:21. > :16:25.Let's not lose it, but let's have a go and get our form back. Nice touch

:16:26. > :16:30.from Chris Coleman to take them out of the confines of the hotel set-up.

:16:31. > :16:36.Gareth Bale has admitted they have gone for burger and chips! They need

:16:37. > :16:41.that. You can go stir crazy in the rooms. It does get boring. You can

:16:42. > :16:46.only have a certain amount of games of pool. I think that is really

:16:47. > :16:50.important. Going back to what Dion said, I think they would have been

:16:51. > :16:53.deflated if it weren't for the captain. He knocked that on the head

:16:54. > :16:58.straightaway. He said, listen, be proud of what we have achieved, we

:16:59. > :17:01.were unlucky. Let's train tomorrow and start looking at the next game

:17:02. > :17:05.against Russia. That is what they will do. I have no doubt they will

:17:06. > :17:11.do well in that game. Two of Wales' three goals scored by Gareth Bale.

:17:12. > :17:18.We are yet to see the best of him? He's good at this. We know he can do

:17:19. > :17:22.this. We can talk about both goalkeepers saying... Could have

:17:23. > :17:27.done better. Whatever. But we know how good he can be and again his

:17:28. > :17:31.standards are so high that he's still got gears to go through, he's

:17:32. > :17:37.probably in third gear at the moment. He's still scored. The key

:17:38. > :17:40.is to get him on the ball, you know, at Real Madrid they have 70% of

:17:41. > :17:44.possession and they get it in the final third and he can enjoy

:17:45. > :17:48.themselves. Wales won't have that kind of possession. It is about

:17:49. > :17:52.getting him in. Let him have a free role and let him find where he can

:17:53. > :17:56.get on the ball and affect the game and if he does that, and he adapts

:17:57. > :17:59.to each game, he will get on the ball and he will be more

:18:00. > :18:08.influential. A big game for the Welsh. You can catch coverage of

:18:09. > :18:12.Slovakia versus England on Radio 5 Live, with Russia versus Wales on 5

:18:13. > :18:18.Live Sports Extra. There are the highlights of both games later in

:18:19. > :18:23.the evening on BBC One at 10.45pm. Back now to Group A and let's head

:18:24. > :18:26.over to Lille where France face Switzerland. We can get the thoughts

:18:27. > :18:30.of Jason Mohammad and Kevin Kilbane, who have been following all four

:18:31. > :18:34.sides in this group. Thank you very much. Welcome to

:18:35. > :18:41.Lille where there is so much to play for. That is the magic of this

:18:42. > :18:46.tournament. Romania and Albania, it is very much on for them? Keeping

:18:47. > :18:55.the last game alive. We couldn't say that in 2012. With this format, it

:18:56. > :19:01.keeps this last game well open. Both sides have a lot to play for. You

:19:02. > :19:05.have seen Albania twice. Have they been unlucky? Yes. In the

:19:06. > :19:12.Switzerland game, when they went down to ten men, they were still

:19:13. > :19:18.creating chances. Sadiku missed two sitters. They have Lenjani on the

:19:19. > :19:26.wing, who is good up-and-down, but it was all about containing France.

:19:27. > :19:30.In that Switzerland game, they deserved something from it. They

:19:31. > :19:34.have some good players. The Romanian newspapers are saying that it is a

:19:35. > :19:38.match of a generation. You get the feeling, don't you, that these

:19:39. > :19:41.French fans really think this is their year, not just to top the

:19:42. > :19:48.group, but also to win the tournament? In general, they were

:19:49. > :19:51.one of the favourites at the start of the tournament. When you go into

:19:52. > :19:56.the tournament and you start to get a couple of good wins - the

:19:57. > :19:59.performances haven't been great - but there is growing momentum.

:20:00. > :20:03.Speaking to supporters, they feel this is their time. Also a great

:20:04. > :20:06.opportunity for Switzerland. Imagine the psychological damage the Swiss

:20:07. > :20:15.will do if they win tonight? That is the thing. Look at the Swiss, they

:20:16. > :20:19.have quality in the team. Thank you very much. We are just delighted

:20:20. > :20:26.Ireland and Wales aren't playing tonight, so we can come to a match

:20:27. > :20:30.and enjoy it. Back to you. Thank you, Jason and Kevin. Team

:20:31. > :20:35.news from Romania and from Albania. Five changes as far as Romania are

:20:36. > :20:40.concerned. As far as they go, though, they are lacking goals. They

:20:41. > :20:45.have had one person score both of their opening goals so far, both

:20:46. > :20:47.from the penalty spot, in Stancu. That tells you the quality they are

:20:48. > :20:53.lacking in that final third. They are very organised. They don't

:20:54. > :20:57.concede a lot of goals. And they get the ball forward. When they get the

:20:58. > :21:01.ball into them creative areas, they haven't got the players that can

:21:02. > :21:04.create too much. They have not got that player that slows everything

:21:05. > :21:15.down and picks a spot and finishes things off. That is why you lot get

:21:16. > :21:20.paid all the money! Not me. Alibec is starting up font for Romania?

:21:21. > :21:25.They will want Alibec to stay in between the width of the posts, stay

:21:26. > :21:30.where we are going to attempt to get the ball to, don't go roaming over

:21:31. > :21:38.the place. It is a hard job playing up front on your own. He needs

:21:39. > :21:42.runners down the wings. He will be a danger. Going to the five changes,

:21:43. > :21:46.Michael O'Neill did that with Northern Ireland and it worked. You

:21:47. > :21:50.can see the lads are training hard, they are chomping at the bit to get

:21:51. > :22:00.on the pitch. This is the Albanian 11 that's been chosen. Gianni De

:22:01. > :22:06.Biasi has chosen this 11. They haven't recalled Cana. There is only

:22:07. > :22:12.one change, Basha comes in for Kukeli. They have stuck with one up

:22:13. > :22:20.top. They both need goals here. Are we surprised by that? I am. They

:22:21. > :22:24.have to score, today they both have to score. They have gone 4-3-2-1.

:22:25. > :22:28.That is a slight different formation. He will have two players

:22:29. > :22:35.closer to him, just in the hole. They will have closer contact to the

:22:36. > :22:39.lone striker. Again, it is about supply and it is about getting your

:22:40. > :22:42.back four to do their job. You stay there and allow those forward

:22:43. > :22:46.players to do what they have to do. If you start bombing down the

:22:47. > :22:50.full-backs, you will get picked off. Romania can do that. They have

:22:51. > :22:53.players that can cheat and go into that hole and wait for the full-back

:22:54. > :23:06.to come back. It is too late. Be careful at the back. There is no

:23:07. > :23:14.talisman for Romania. For Albania, is it a case of learning on the

:23:15. > :23:19.bigger stage? I'll go back to Cana, he got the red card. He was

:23:20. > :23:23.ill-disciplined. He had a yellow card and he just, he needed to stay

:23:24. > :23:28.on his feet and it was ill-discipline for me. The manager

:23:29. > :23:32.has teached him a lesson. De Biasi will get the respect of the players

:23:33. > :23:39.for making that decision. He left him for 60 minutes with ten men and

:23:40. > :23:45.it's a big call. It is. Romania have looked strong on set-pieces so far.

:23:46. > :23:48.Yes. The delivery has been very good. There hasn't been anybody

:23:49. > :23:52.there. They haven't gambled, they haven't said, right, let's put

:23:53. > :23:57.players in there and go for it. They have got, or should I say they have

:23:58. > :24:01.had corners and free kicks in good areas, the delivery has been good,

:24:02. > :24:06.but they have not got on the end of it. It is all about goals tonight.

:24:07. > :24:12.The teams are on their way out at the Stade de Lyon. High time we

:24:13. > :24:16.joined our commentary team, who are Mark Lawrenson and Simon Brotherton.

:24:17. > :24:20.COMMENTARY: We are almost ready to go with this final Group A fixture.

:24:21. > :24:27.Two sides with a point between them so far, who do still have hopes of

:24:28. > :24:32.reaching the last 16. Romania aR -- arrived in France with the best

:24:33. > :24:38.defensive record of all during qualifying. Albania, making it to

:24:39. > :24:42.their first major finals was a cause of celebration in itself. Both aim

:24:43. > :24:47.to finish the group stage on a high. Romania keen to add to the point

:24:48. > :24:52.against the Swiss. Albania are striving for their first point.

:24:53. > :24:59.Please stand for the National Anthems, starting with Albania.

:25:00. > :26:17.Albania hoping for an historic first-ever win at a major tournament

:26:18. > :26:23.and what would be their first win over Romania for 68 years. Please

:26:24. > :26:30.remain standing for the National Anthem of Romania.

:26:31. > :26:37.# Desteapta-te, romane, din somnul cel de moarte,

:26:38. > :26:43.# In care te-adancira barbarii de tirani,

:26:44. > :26:55.# Acum ori niciodata croieste-ti alta soarte,

:26:56. > :27:01.# La care sa se-nchine si cruzii tai dusmani,

:27:02. > :27:19.# Acum ori niciodata sa dam dovezi la lume

:27:20. > :27:23.# Ca-n aste mani mai curge un sange de Roman,

:27:24. > :27:41.# Si ca-n a noastre piepturi pastram cu fala-un nume

:27:42. > :27:45.APPLAUSE Romania have one win from their

:27:46. > :27:48.previous 15 matches at the finals over the years. A famous 3-2 victory

:27:49. > :27:59.over England back in 2000. Albania have certainly kept their

:28:00. > :28:02.games tight and they have been unlucky to reach this point

:28:03. > :28:06.empty-handed. Probably should have got a draw against the Swiss, even

:28:07. > :28:12.with ten men for half the match. Here is the Romania side. Anghel

:28:13. > :28:18.Iordanescu has made five changes in all. Razvan Rat went off injured

:28:19. > :28:21.against Switzerland. He is replaced today by Alexandru Matel. Denis

:28:22. > :28:26.Alibec comes in to win his sixth cap and leads the attack instead of

:28:27. > :28:41.Claudiu Keseru. Our referee tonight is Pavel

:28:42. > :28:46.Kralovec from the Czech Republic. He took charge of Northern Ireland's

:28:47. > :28:48.2-0 win over Ukraine here in Lyon on Thursday, briefly taking the players

:28:49. > :29:09.awful during a hailstorm. Lorik Cana on the bench having

:29:10. > :29:20.served his suspension against France. Albania's level shows one

:29:21. > :29:25.enforced change to the side that made life difficult for France on

:29:26. > :29:29.Wednesday. Migjen Basha comes in for his first appearance of the

:29:30. > :29:33.tournament. Lorik Cana was suspended the other day after being sent off

:29:34. > :29:43.against Switzerland, but he has to content himself with a place on the

:29:44. > :29:47.bench. Gianni De Biasi sticks with Arlind Ajeti in defence. On the

:29:48. > :30:02.bench, Costel Pantilimon. We are almost ready to go, as I

:30:03. > :30:05.mentioned at the start, just one point between them. They have kept

:30:06. > :30:12.their games close. They haven't been beaten by more than a single goal,

:30:13. > :30:16.Romania drawing their most recent match. Alongside me in the

:30:17. > :30:26.commentary box is Mark Lawrenson. Both teams have not scored many

:30:27. > :30:44.goals, so all the best. A header for Basha. His first touch

:30:45. > :30:53.of the game. It was difficult for the hosts at

:30:54. > :30:58.the stadium. A goal within the last three minutes of the game. One on

:30:59. > :31:02.paper which looked a routine victory, but it was anything but.

:31:03. > :31:10.Also Romania against France as well, that game, they gave as good as they

:31:11. > :31:13.got. It was obviously the quality that was difference. Albania do

:31:14. > :31:24.struggle to score goals. Here is Sadiku, trying to thread the

:31:25. > :31:29.ball towards the near side. Ledge ledge. Albania looking to make

:31:30. > :31:39.a quick start here. Lenjani capable of decent shots from

:31:40. > :31:54.outside the penalty area. They have only beaten Romania twice

:31:55. > :31:59.and not since 1948. It is difficult if you are not a team that scores

:32:00. > :32:09.goals to manufacture goals out of, basically, nothing. He's got them

:32:10. > :32:13.organised well. Every single team in this competition, are in inverted

:32:14. > :32:15.come mass, organised. We are not great going forward, but we don't

:32:16. > :32:32.concede too many goals. Albania have to throw and Agolli

:32:33. > :32:39.will take it. The first touch here for Alibec, who is one of those

:32:40. > :32:44.coming into the side today. Whipped out wide. A long old chase format

:32:45. > :33:00.mat. He's made it and kept the ball in.

:33:01. > :33:09.And the first shot of the mat Stncu. If anything good will happen it will

:33:10. > :33:14.probably come from Stancu. He scored a stunner against Lithuania in that

:33:15. > :33:16.game and has scored three since then.

:33:17. > :33:27.Not to be mixed up with Stancu. Stancu scored both of the goals that

:33:28. > :33:42.were scored thus far. Not related. A r a nasty blow on the head format

:33:43. > :34:03.mat. Caps for Rat. Injuries have affected

:34:04. > :34:15.him as they have here at this tournament. Ruling him out of the

:34:16. > :34:32.starting XI, for this match. Played towards Popa.

:34:33. > :34:35.Berbatov made a nervous start against Switzerland. Conceded after

:34:36. > :34:41.five minutes. Poor goal keeping there. He made up for it for the

:34:42. > :34:45.rest of the match. Another nervous beginning for him here.

:34:46. > :34:47.It was not particularly well struck. Maybe just bounced in front of him.

:34:48. > :35:03.Not a good sign, is it? Romania moving the ball around

:35:04. > :35:15.reasonably well here. Popa tries to go skipping forward.

:35:16. > :35:23.He covered so much ground. He probably needs to standstill a

:35:24. > :35:27.little bit, as dafr as that sounds for his team-mates to hit him. You

:35:28. > :35:30.can see Albania getting to the final third, it is a little bit like they

:35:31. > :35:43.come out in a rash, don't they? Straight on to the head of Ajeti. He

:35:44. > :35:47.was superb against France the other night. He went off, seemingly

:35:48. > :35:52.injured in the last few moments of the game. The man who replaced him

:35:53. > :35:57.lost his marker when France scored soon afterwards. When you say

:35:58. > :36:00.seemingly injured? I thought he was injured. He looked injured. It may

:36:01. > :36:16.have been cramp. The first yellow card of the match

:36:17. > :36:23.to Basha. I am saying nothing. Such a poor

:36:24. > :36:36.tackle. In all honesty... Look, a straight red for that. That is wild.

:36:37. > :36:43.Basha by name, basher by nature. Hoban, I think, will be OK. Basha in

:36:44. > :36:48.the book. He's been with Italy, serry B since the beginning of the

:36:49. > :36:54.year. The referees have been lenient, they have been good, very

:36:55. > :36:59.keen to keep the games flowing. In some of the games they have been

:37:00. > :37:11.better than the players. The Refs. It is good to see he's in one piece.

:37:12. > :37:16.And it is Andrei Prepelita who will take this kick for Romania. You get

:37:17. > :37:20.injured and have to go off so you are done to ten men. Somebody needs

:37:21. > :37:27.to change that rule. Away to Matel...

:37:28. > :37:41.Forward by Hoban. Off the head... Oh, a good save by Berisha. What a

:37:42. > :37:48.poor header. What a fantastic strike that is. Romania are still putting

:37:49. > :37:52.the pressure on here with Prepelita... Support provided by

:37:53. > :38:01.Sapunaru. Romania certainly in the opening

:38:02. > :38:05.eight minutes of the game carrying a threat moving forward.

:38:06. > :38:15.It is very, very early, but they look a cut above.

:38:16. > :38:20.What a strike this is. It is a poor header, isn't it? Straight in the

:38:21. > :38:25.air, to the box. He wasn't sure about the goalkeeper. He crosses his

:38:26. > :38:58.hands, doesn't he? Not quite... Yes, he does.

:38:59. > :39:05.Tatarusanu plays for Italily. They have decent players, don't

:39:06. > :39:10.they, Romania, but not the star names we 've had in the past.

:39:11. > :39:15.The manager was just off the bench there as well, saying to Alibec,

:39:16. > :39:22.show for the ball, come and show for the ball when the rightback had it.

:39:23. > :39:23.The coach is animated. He will not change. He will get

:39:24. > :39:39.worse. Who did the manager play for?

:39:40. > :39:42.Bucharest. I think I might have played against him once or twice.

:39:43. > :39:46.Did he play up front? I don't remember that. I don't remember

:39:47. > :39:56.anything, that is why I asked you. I think he was a midfielder. OK.

:39:57. > :39:58.Romania's coach of the 21st century. His third spell in charge of the

:39:59. > :40:07.Romanian national team. Albania just struggling to hang on

:40:08. > :40:16.to the ball even when they get it. It is a little bit of a hot potato.

:40:17. > :40:29.Agolli plays in Qatar now. Spreading the ball wide.

:40:30. > :40:40.Sapunaru... Look he's chasing again. He will

:40:41. > :41:36.only last 60 minutes. Grigore played against Albania,

:41:37. > :41:40.alongside Chiriches. They helped Romania have a 1-0 win, away in

:41:41. > :41:45.Albania, in May, a couple of years ago. Unbeaten in the last 13

:41:46. > :41:55.fixtures against Albania, the Romanians.

:41:56. > :42:05.The captain of Albania, a red card in the first half of the game

:42:06. > :42:19.against Switzerland has cost him dearly, suspension and now left out.

:42:20. > :42:26.Sadiku goes hurtling after it. The flag is up on the far side.

:42:27. > :42:37.He would chase a paper bag in the park, wouldn't he?

:42:38. > :42:58.The right call from the officials. They're off, they're off.

:42:59. > :43:06.Lila on that far side, Lila didn't start against the Swiss came in for

:43:07. > :43:18.the last game and clearly holding Matel back.

:43:19. > :43:31.It is with Romania, dominating the early possession here.

:43:32. > :43:38.Despite, that it is theal banian fans who are making all the noise in

:43:39. > :43:44.the stadium. Alibec, hustling, bustling and

:43:45. > :43:49.bullish... Didn't quite send that shot dipping under the crossbar. It

:43:50. > :43:55.was unlucky. It was a tidy sequence of events. He stuck at it,

:43:56. > :43:59.surrounded by two players. He had a little look. Didn't seem too far

:44:00. > :44:06.away. This will tell us. Did well there. Had a really good season for

:44:07. > :44:18.his club's side. 16 goals in 26 matches in the league.

:44:19. > :44:29.Ajeti coming offer second best there. Getting a decision from the

:44:30. > :44:49.referee. A good partnership with Mavraj.

:44:50. > :45:07.The block is made by Ovidiu Hoban. Alibec hooking that one hoping that

:45:08. > :45:11.Alexandru Matel was some way further forward. He should have kept going.

:45:12. > :45:15.He knocked the ball into Alibec and went to make the run. Alibec had his

:45:16. > :45:19.back to him and he is still thinking he is on a run and it would have

:45:20. > :45:23.been a good ball. Romania looking to get out of the group stages at the

:45:24. > :45:25.European Championships for the first time. And they were here in '84, the

:45:26. > :45:51.last time it was held in France. The referee is letting the game

:45:52. > :45:57.flow. I thought that was a foul. The one before was a foul.

:45:58. > :46:02.The Romanian player ran at him when he was heading the ball. Romania

:46:03. > :46:05.will have the free kick. The other one was more of a foul

:46:06. > :47:01.than the foul that was given. No, I don't believe I have seen

:47:02. > :47:07.that! That was wildly optimistic. I do not believe I have seen that. How

:47:08. > :47:14.far do you reckon this was? What was he thinking? He might have been

:47:15. > :47:16.thinking, Simon, goal! That is what he was thinking. What he was doing

:47:17. > :47:34.was completely separate. Straight out of play. It's pretty

:47:35. > :47:38.scruffy. We didn't expect anything else.

:47:39. > :47:46.The football that has been played so far has been played by those in

:47:47. > :47:50.yellow. Yes. They have strung a few passes together, Romania. A good

:47:51. > :47:53.shot on goal as well. I think - I don't think the competition has

:47:54. > :47:57.taken off yet. When you start to look at the sides who we think -

:47:58. > :48:01.some we already know - and who will be in the round of 16, I think that

:48:02. > :48:05.is when the competition will really begin. It is a bit like the

:48:06. > :48:07.Champions League. Early-league stages, give-and-take. Knockout

:48:08. > :49:23.stage - yes. Stancu, in towards Alibec. He is the

:49:24. > :49:31.only one in the Albanian team playing for a top European team.

:49:32. > :49:41.Popa once again. The referee says no foul there. Away come Albania.

:49:42. > :49:51.Space in midfield for Migjen Basha. Options left and right. Clearly

:49:52. > :49:56.decided to choose neither. That's the problem, when you don't score

:49:57. > :50:00.many goals, you think you can score from everywhere and anywhere!

:50:01. > :50:06.We will keep you fully up-to-date with events in Lille between

:50:07. > :50:17.Switzerland and the hosts France. No goals in that match so far.

:50:18. > :50:45.Wasn't a bad idea. Just a poor delivery. That's gone quick.

:50:46. > :50:52.Ciprian Tatarusanu conceded two in ten matches during qualification. Is

:50:53. > :50:57.he not the tallest goalkeeper in the competition? He looks it from here.

:50:58. > :51:03.They look for Popa on this near side. I think he is, I'm sure

:51:04. > :51:21.Jonathan Pearce said he was in the first game against the French.

:51:22. > :51:27.Armando Sadiku having trouble controlling the ball. Sapunaru, the

:51:28. > :51:38.player down on the ground. This is why. It is a foul. I'm not quite

:51:39. > :51:53.sure why he was rolling around. Albania are not out of it, even

:51:54. > :52:04.though they haven't got any points yet. If they could win this match,

:52:05. > :52:06.they will hope that they are one of the better-placed teams. Looks like

:52:07. > :52:27.they are waiting for a bus! The delivery from Stancu was not a

:52:28. > :52:35.good one. Cleared away by Sadiku, now back with Andrei Prepelita.

:52:36. > :52:48.Given away. Sadiku leaves it, Abrashi. Lenjani that, is better

:52:49. > :52:52.from Albania. Armando Sadiku feeding it through, could be an opportunity

:52:53. > :52:58.here. Into the centre, oh what a miss! Lenjani, a golden opportunity

:52:59. > :53:02.for what would have been Albania's first-ever goal at a major

:53:03. > :53:07.tournament. Ermir Lenjani had the goal at his mercy. Great ball in as

:53:08. > :53:13.well. Two passes in that move. The pass for the right-back here was

:53:14. > :53:20.fantastic. But, but Matel decided to push up, and he caused his team a

:53:21. > :53:25.problem. Wow, if you are not going to score them, you are not going to

:53:26. > :53:34.score any. I don't know why he has to slide in. He's not used to being

:53:35. > :53:37.in there. Why would you give the thumbs up to someone when you have

:53:38. > :53:44.missed a sitter? What an opportunity. Those fans know...

:53:45. > :53:47.Their fans are great because the cheering gets louder when they get

:53:48. > :53:53.in the opposition half. I would suggest that is the best chance they

:53:54. > :54:03.have created in the competition. Sapunaru is really struggling here.

:54:04. > :54:09.There's the challenge made by Lenjani on the full-back. It doesn't

:54:10. > :54:16.seem that bad. He caught him on the ankle. Unless he's caught him on the

:54:17. > :54:20.bone of the ankle. Albania also had a fantastic chance to equalise

:54:21. > :54:26.against Switzerland in the last couple of minutes. Better than that?

:54:27. > :54:28.As good as. That was the best one, though, you are right, the one for

:54:29. > :54:48.Lenjani. Tomorrow night on BBC One, from

:54:49. > :54:50.10.45pm we will have Russia against Wales and Slovakia against England -

:54:51. > :55:16.that is tomorrow night at 10.45pm. Romania are able to get it away. On

:55:17. > :55:21.Tuesday, live on BBC One, from 4.30pm, Northern Ireland against

:55:22. > :55:26.Germany. Here, Romania looking to hit on the break with Alibec, who

:55:27. > :55:34.claimed it was a backpass to the goalkeeper. It was more of a

:55:35. > :55:37.challenge. Again, when Albania attacked, Matel, the left-back for

:55:38. > :55:41.Romania, he wants to push up. I don't get it. You can't do that when

:55:42. > :55:45.there is no pressure on the ball whatsoever. You have to look at your

:55:46. > :55:53.centre-backs before you can think about it.

:55:54. > :56:07.Could you imagine if Albania had scored? They probably won't get a

:56:08. > :56:11.better chance. They should be encouraged having carved open

:56:12. > :56:19.Romania in the way that they did. It was a lovely, flowing, passing move.

:56:20. > :56:24.Abrashi. Looking for Andi Lila, a willing runner, as ever.

:56:25. > :56:35.A rather unnecessary shove into the chest. It wasn't that bad. Come on,

:56:36. > :56:41.it is a physical game! They run like Duracel bunnies, they never stop. It

:56:42. > :56:46.is amazing. Iordanescu, you saw him briefly, he is doing his fruit down

:56:47. > :56:53.on the touchline! He does every time there is a misplaced pass or poor

:56:54. > :56:57.positional play, he just loses it. They have been good since he took

:56:58. > :57:03.over for the third spell. In 15 matches, they have only lost twice.

:57:04. > :57:08.Sapunaru down, continuing his tussle with Lenjani. Didn't take much to

:57:09. > :57:13.send him tumbling. Those two are not getting on terribly well. No. Who's

:57:14. > :57:32.got the better tattoos? Vlad Chiriches. One of those players

:57:33. > :57:39.brought in by the Gareth Bale money. I didn't think he did that bad in

:57:40. > :57:43.fairness to him. Moved on, hoping for more first team opportunities

:57:44. > :57:47.with Napoli and they have been hard to find as well. 17 appearances this

:57:48. > :57:49.season, eight in the league. Still, the main man at the back for

:57:50. > :57:55.Romania. They have settled into this game,

:57:56. > :58:13.Albania. He's got a look of Norman Lamont,

:58:14. > :58:39.Anghel Iordanescu. He has. It is almost like being called

:58:40. > :58:48.Savage! No free kick. Away comes Dragos Grigore. Romania cannot keep

:58:49. > :58:51.the ball. It is as though they are rattled by the outstanding chance

:58:52. > :59:37.that Albania have had. If you are 6ft 5in-plus, you should

:59:38. > :59:49.be able to win those in the air and preferably keep hold of them.

:59:50. > :59:58.Adrian Popa making a move. The ball was rather hopeful. Etrit Berisha is

:59:59. > :00:02.happy to see that go behind. It is just that spell. When you are not

:00:03. > :00:07.passing it, they try more difficult passes, which is the time when you

:00:08. > :00:11.should go, hold on, let's start rolling it into feet, yellow

:00:12. > :00:16.players, into feet, and get our rhythm going again. At the moment,

:00:17. > :00:43.Romania have lost it after looking by far the better of the two teams.

:00:44. > :01:11.The control not so good. Basha able to make an interception.

:01:12. > :01:17.The chance is at a premium here in this opening half an hour. The best

:01:18. > :02:00.one falling to Albania so far. Thumped away by Hoban. It hit the

:02:01. > :02:06.wires, didn't it? It did. In the last 15 minutes of the first half.

:02:07. > :02:10.The wires being the wires that carry the spider cam that slides around

:02:11. > :02:17.above the players. I would have thought there would have been a rule

:02:18. > :02:25.on that. Intercepted. Play goes on.

:02:26. > :02:37.This is better. A bit more composed from Albania. In all seriousness, in

:02:38. > :02:41.the last ten minutes they have looked the better team. Getting it

:02:42. > :02:47.down and playing and passing it easily. Waiting for the moment to

:02:48. > :02:52.press on. Well, they played over half the match with ten men against

:02:53. > :02:56.Switzerland. Having been at the match they deserved a draw in the

:02:57. > :03:01.game. Listen, they have swam the channel to be here. And they have

:03:02. > :03:05.made life difficult for France, haven't they? Very much so.

:03:06. > :03:17.He may get a second chance here. Lenjani... Yellow shirts are

:03:18. > :03:25.blocking his path. Away come Romania. Sliding in to win it back.

:03:26. > :03:34.Doesn't it make the game better when you have tackles? It does, doesn't

:03:35. > :03:46.it? It is all action there. Committed.

:03:47. > :03:51.Romania with a player down. Prepelita I think it is.

:03:52. > :04:41.Dislocated shoelace. The interception from Matel. Albania

:04:42. > :04:48.are keen to keep up the pressure here. Brilliant play!

:04:49. > :04:52.He's got to pull it back. He's doing absolutely fantastically. He did

:04:53. > :04:57.brilliantly to get himself in that position and the bottom line is,

:04:58. > :05:03.now, have a look, have a look. Unfortunate. Such a waste. Memushaj,

:05:04. > :05:12.the play-maker in their side. There you go. Carrying the wrath of

:05:13. > :05:19.Sadiku, the centre forward. Albania on the front foot here, looking for

:05:20. > :05:23.the first goal. Ten minutes before half-time and Basha thumps it over

:05:24. > :05:31.the top. That is a training ground corner. Albania had seven players in

:05:32. > :05:34.the opposition penalty area. I just thought maybe it had bounced

:05:35. > :05:38.up a little bit. It bounced newspaper front of him, so he

:05:39. > :05:41.wouldn't have seen it. Didn't go down well. You could possibly say

:05:42. > :06:00.that. A good many of these players were in

:06:01. > :06:04.the Swiss system and playing for Switzerland.

:06:05. > :06:21.Fine, isn't it? It is a good generation of players they have got.

:06:22. > :06:31.It will be Romania's ball. We have not seen much after a bright start.

:06:32. > :06:36.Extremely disappointing. Here is Memushaj again. Does he get his head

:06:37. > :06:40.up? That picture doesn't tell the true story.

:06:41. > :06:45.Further to the right there was another black-shirtedal banian

:06:46. > :06:50.player in a fantastic position. I tell you what, half-time, it

:06:51. > :06:55.remains the same, Simon. The Romanian manager, who is old

:06:56. > :07:09.school, he will tear into his team, absolutely tear into them.

:07:10. > :07:23.Albania with a man down. I think he will be OK. They don't

:07:24. > :07:34.have to wait. Play on. The referee decides, doesn't he?

:07:35. > :07:42.There was just Basha's foul. Well, a yellow.

:07:43. > :07:49.There is a confidence Albania are playing now, the longer this first

:07:50. > :07:52.half plays on. They seem to be winning the second ball all the

:07:53. > :08:10.time. Into Sadiku and the flag goes up. He

:08:11. > :08:14.was offside. The centre-back has come out. You can see how well

:08:15. > :08:19.coached they are, centre-back has come out. Created a space on the

:08:20. > :08:24.ball. He played a lovely ball. Sadiku was just a couple of yards

:08:25. > :08:28.offside. Lila was screaming for the ball on

:08:29. > :08:32.the far side. To be honest with you, stick it through the middle, that is

:08:33. > :08:50.where you look because that is where the danger is if you get through.

:08:51. > :09:15.Stanciu has been quiet for a while and Stanciu and Stanciu.

:09:16. > :09:34.Popa up against Mavraj. . I mean from the halfway line, because...

:09:35. > :09:48.Stanciu then with the delivery. It is Alibec trying the flick.

:09:49. > :10:02.Over to the sidelines. He's a whistler as well. He whistles

:10:03. > :10:13.like the sheepdog trails and they all take notice of him.

:10:14. > :10:20.Tried the back flick. The path was blocked by Sadiku. All hands on deck

:10:21. > :10:37.for Albania. Literally. The last five minutes of the first

:10:38. > :10:59.half. Up to Popa. Did well there. Lovely

:11:00. > :11:03.skill. Intercepted. A bit of space to run

:11:04. > :11:09.into now. Here's Memushaj... He couldn't take

:11:10. > :11:17.it, could he? He needed to have a soft foot on it. He nearly in an

:11:18. > :11:23.excellent position there. Alibec, snatched the ball from his

:11:24. > :11:38.toes. He got himself into a great position.

:11:39. > :11:46.Trying to use the full width of the field here, Matel. His taement needs

:11:47. > :11:49.to run forward -- his team needs to run forward.

:11:50. > :12:04.Again for Romania. There's... Oh, my goodness. It is

:12:05. > :12:08.Groundhog Day every time we get the ball going forward.

:12:09. > :12:20.Three minutes, plus added time, in the first half. Are Romania going to

:12:21. > :12:32.finish the first half strongly here? Sapunaru, looking for Alibec... Too

:12:33. > :12:35.much on it. Of skidded off the surface as well.

:12:36. > :12:39.There has been a lot of heavy rain before this match, as well as the

:12:40. > :12:46.watering. It just runs away from him.

:12:47. > :13:03.There's theal banian crowd again... -- DUP there's the Albania crowd

:13:04. > :13:14.again. In towards Sadiku and a header...

:13:15. > :13:26.And Albania have scored. Sadiku... A towering header into the

:13:27. > :13:32.far corner of the net. An historic moment for Albania football. The

:13:33. > :13:38.first major goal... It is Romania, 0. Albania, 1.

:13:39. > :13:43.That was a really clever header by Sadiku. Long, right-footed, a deep

:13:44. > :13:50.cross and he kept waiting and waiting and waiting. The goalkeeper,

:13:51. > :13:54.Tatarusanu... A clever header. He headed it back the way it's come

:13:55. > :13:58.from. He's watching it, and watching it.

:13:59. > :14:04.What is the goalkeeper doing? For goodness sake! It is a really,

:14:05. > :14:14.really clever header and exactly what Albania deserve.

:14:15. > :14:18.Well, what a moment for the fans and for Albanian fans around the world

:14:19. > :14:21.to celebrate. Their team have fought so hard here

:14:22. > :14:27.in this group stage. They played well. They have come up short in the

:14:28. > :14:30.matches they played. Now, at last, they really have something to

:14:31. > :14:35.celebrate. And the referee is coming over here

:14:36. > :14:40.to the fourth official. There was a flare thrown on to the

:14:41. > :14:43.pitch behind the goal. Surely the fourth official has not

:14:44. > :14:47.told him that, because you can see it.

:14:48. > :14:51.It is now being carried away by a steward, away down the tunnel n the

:14:52. > :15:08.corner of the stadium and the match can resume.

:15:09. > :15:18.The ball into the centre. There is a solidity about Albania.

:15:19. > :15:32.We are into the two minutes of added time now. What response will we get

:15:33. > :15:39.from Romania here? The snapshot from Alibec and Berisha right behind the

:15:40. > :15:54.ball. I don't know if you saw Tatarusanu - he went to blame the

:15:55. > :15:59.centre-back. Great reward for Sadiku, who must have run a hundred

:16:00. > :16:04.miles in the two-and-a-half matches he's played. Yes, well done to him.

:16:05. > :16:12.Stancu - Romania will be looking to his influence now to try and craft a

:16:13. > :16:16.way back into the match. Basha, up to Sadiku. Still another minute to

:16:17. > :16:19.go before half-time. Albania will be desperate to hang on

:16:20. > :16:27.to the slender lead that they have. Sadiku, the only man over the

:16:28. > :16:34.halfway line. Easy for Grigore. Matel, under

:16:35. > :17:07.pressure. Is there time for one last chance in

:17:08. > :17:13.the first half for Romania, who are looking for an equalising goal?

:17:14. > :17:20.The last few seconds of this first half. A check of the watch from

:17:21. > :17:26.Pavel Kralovec. There goes the half-time whistle and listen to the

:17:27. > :17:33.roar at the Stade de Lyon! From all the fans clad in red. Armando Sadiku

:17:34. > :17:41.gives Albania a half-time lead they deserve. Basha blasted over. Sadiku

:17:42. > :17:47.headed home. They lead Romania at the break 1-0.

:17:48. > :17:54.STUDIO: Thanks very much to Simon and Mark for the time being. They

:17:55. > :17:58.are in Lyon for the start of the second half. What a turn-up for the

:17:59. > :18:05.books. Who would have thought Albania would have gone in 1-0 at

:18:06. > :18:12.half-time? Not me, not you, or you! They were not in the game. They were

:18:13. > :18:14.trying to get into Romania, they frightened Romania physically and

:18:15. > :18:18.the game changed in the last 20 minutes of the first half. Fair play

:18:19. > :18:25.to Albania. Their plan has worked so far. And they didn't really let the

:18:26. > :18:30.first, as Dion said, Trevor, didn't put them off their game plan, they

:18:31. > :18:35.stuck at it? Absolutely. De Biasi has said, the shackles are on, get

:18:36. > :18:39.physical, let them know you are there, and once the game settles

:18:40. > :18:42.down, we will have a little look. A little bit put them into a false

:18:43. > :18:44.sense of security and that is what they have done. They have created

:18:45. > :18:48.chance after chance since then. Let's look at that first piece of

:18:49. > :18:52.history, the first goal for Albania at a European Championships scored

:18:53. > :18:57.by Armando Sadiku. A good header, but made a bit easy by the fact the

:18:58. > :19:07.goalkeeper had a bit of a rush of blood to the head. He's worked

:19:08. > :19:11.tirelessly. That there is an incredibly difficult technique to do

:19:12. > :19:15.when you have got a keeper coming rushing at you. It is even more

:19:16. > :19:20.difficult because he is flapping. But he stayed calm. He did. And he

:19:21. > :19:24.heads it into an empty net. What was the keeper doing? No-man's-land.

:19:25. > :19:30.Let's not forget about the cross. That cross... The cross was alright.

:19:31. > :19:35.That is your job. He put a bit of fade on it. It was a driven cross.

:19:36. > :19:38.He took the goalkeeper out of it. The goalkeeper thought he was coming

:19:39. > :19:42.for it. Then it is about the execution, staying calm with the

:19:43. > :19:46.header. It's a technique knowing how to cross the ball in a certain way,

:19:47. > :19:50.which the keeper thinks, I can get this, and then he can't because he's

:19:51. > :19:55.faded it away from him. As a centre forward, you know how the cross is

:19:56. > :19:59.coming in, so you go away first. It is knowing how your players work,

:20:00. > :20:06.what kind of cross you are going to get. Lila must have been saying,

:20:07. > :20:11.don't come for that! We have seen this a few times this season, one

:20:12. > :20:17.team clearly the dominant, will they be left to rue their missed chances?

:20:18. > :20:21.We saw Portugal against Austria yesterday. What about Romania,

:20:22. > :20:29.Stancu heavily involved. We like the number nine as well. Alibec is a big

:20:30. > :20:31.unit, looks like he is 6ft 4in. They went to him. He held it up. This is

:20:32. > :20:44.what p has. -- this is what happens. They are getting strikes on goal.

:20:45. > :20:52.This is Hoban's chance as well. Romania, one or two of these were

:20:53. > :20:55.speculative chances. They are. Going down the left-hand side, Hoban and

:20:56. > :20:59.Stancu are switching all the time, sharing the work. Have a look at

:21:00. > :21:03.this. The technique for Stancu there, it is coming over his

:21:04. > :21:07.shoulder, and to connect like that, the execution was superb. Good stop.

:21:08. > :21:10.That is a difficult chance. I tried that many times in training, it went

:21:11. > :21:19.straight over the bar, like that! You can see what he is trying to do

:21:20. > :21:23.here. At that time, Romania were on top, Alibec was strong, he was

:21:24. > :21:26.getting into areas where he could take shots on, he was bringing

:21:27. > :21:32.players into play. They were going forward, but then the tables turned

:21:33. > :21:37.on 23 minutes. We said that. When Lenjani missed that goal, which was

:21:38. > :21:41.offside. The table has turned and Albania said, we have kicked, they

:21:42. > :21:48.don't like it, let's show them what else we've got. Let's have a look at

:21:49. > :21:53.the kicking. Those two chances, they clearly went about roughing up

:21:54. > :21:58.Romania in the opening ten minutes. That is an obvious elbow. Look at

:21:59. > :22:01.that. And this one. We see Harry Kane get kicked in the face, similar

:22:02. > :22:09.to that, against Portugal. That is a red card for me. It is. So

:22:10. > :22:12.dangerous. I'm surprised that Pavel Kralovec has let him get away with

:22:13. > :22:15.that. It should have been a red card. If his face would have been

:22:16. > :22:20.there, he could have lost teeth. It is. He is lucky that he didn't go

:22:21. > :22:26.in, he probably seen it coming. He could have gone with his head as

:22:27. > :22:32.well. That is a red. I have to say we get the chance to look at it

:22:33. > :22:39.again, the elbow is disgusting. He's caught him on the cheek. Terrible,

:22:40. > :22:46.that is. Both red cards for me. Albania can count themselves lucky

:22:47. > :22:51.to be 11 men, now 1-0 up. There is another game taking place in Group

:22:52. > :22:57.A. It involves the hosts France, they are playing Switzerland.

:22:58. > :23:13.Commentary from Jonathan Pearce and Danny Murphy.

:23:14. > :23:18.COMMENTARY: Headed away there. His shirt was being pulled there. Be

:23:19. > :23:27.careful there Sagna. If he sees it, it is a penalty. It comes to the

:23:28. > :23:31.near post. Just scraped away. It comes off Pogba. Giroud is lying on

:23:32. > :23:44.the floor, he can't get a touch. A super ball in.

:23:45. > :23:58.Spilt on to the top of the bar. It comes to Pogba.

:23:59. > :24:10.Pogba! Lovely save! It is that man Pogba again. What a save that is.

:24:11. > :24:18.Pogba goes for it. Clips the bar. That's the Pogba that France have

:24:19. > :24:29.been waiting to see. This is the power of the man. Big long stride,

:24:30. > :24:33.terrific strike. Very, very unlucky. 0-0 at the break. This is how Group

:24:34. > :24:52.A looks as things stand. Northern Ireland don't want Romania

:24:53. > :24:57.to get to four points, should they beat Albania in Lyon. The next live

:24:58. > :25:01.game on the BBC sees Northern Ireland taking on Germany on

:25:02. > :25:04.Tuesday. After that win over Ukraine, Michael O'Neill's team

:25:05. > :25:13.looks forward to their final Group C match.

:25:14. > :25:25.It left him. Good save. 2-0! 2-0, McGinn! Victory for Northern

:25:26. > :25:29.Ireland. What a night. It is one I will never forget. To share it with

:25:30. > :25:34.my brother was something special. Couldn't speak. He was in tears. I

:25:35. > :25:37.was sort of saying, you can't cry now, we have just beat Ukraine. You

:25:38. > :25:42.would like to think we have done enough already. We know how things

:25:43. > :25:47.change in football. Hopefully, we will get another point and secure

:25:48. > :25:50.getting through to the next stage. What a great achievement. We are

:25:51. > :25:57.against the World Champions. We will stick to the game plan, like we are

:25:58. > :26:01.doing. You seen the other night against Ukraine, how much it meant

:26:02. > :26:05.to the fans. We scored the first goal and they didn't shut up from

:26:06. > :26:17.then. If we could do that in Paris and keep them bouncing, it would be

:26:18. > :26:26.great. Armstrong! The proudest moment in Irish football. They have

:26:27. > :26:36.won the group. We had a wee moment. This is what you say to the players,

:26:37. > :26:41.give them something to remember. I know I was when we beat Ukraine. I

:26:42. > :26:48.know where I was when we beat Germany. It will be a tough game.

:26:49. > :26:55.They will be physically and mentally very strong. It will be really

:26:56. > :27:01.difficult. I'm sure they won't be used to that type of match.

:27:02. > :27:06.It was a fabulous game against Ukraine for Northern Ireland. They

:27:07. > :27:10.have now got the small feat of trying to beat the World Champions,

:27:11. > :27:14.Germany. They go there in great heart. They do. That's what they are

:27:15. > :27:24.all about. That is what Michael O'Neill is all about, his huge

:27:25. > :27:31.heart. That is some header. I'm glad he watched the DVD that I sent

:27:32. > :27:39.him(!) That is hard. That is taking responsibility. Creating chances -

:27:40. > :27:43.look at this. On his toes, they have got in a position they wouldn't

:27:44. > :27:48.expect to be in. They will be playing against Germany, but they

:27:49. > :27:53.have a great chance. A good bit of wing wizardry there. Not putting a

:27:54. > :28:00.hopeful ball in, he picked out the pass. Great play. The wingers'

:28:01. > :28:15.union? I have to support the wingers. They have some key players

:28:16. > :28:20.- Evans, Davis. We saw something from Michael O'Neill, five changes.

:28:21. > :28:24.Real bravery that? It is those, but it is belief in his squad, belief in

:28:25. > :28:31.his players, belief in the quality that he has on the bench, or in the

:28:32. > :28:34.squad of 23. It is good enough to chop and change. Managers on the

:28:35. > :28:38.training ground, they know best. They know if he is tired, sit him

:28:39. > :28:42.down. I don't need him this week. You do a job for me. Big word in

:28:43. > :28:47.football - possibly the biggest word in football - trust. He trusts his

:28:48. > :28:50.players to do a job. Can they go into a game against a team like

:28:51. > :28:59.Germany in the mindset that we can draw this, or we can get a win?

:29:00. > :29:03.Absolutely. You heard the player there said, we stick to the game

:29:04. > :29:11.plan nine times out of ten. They need a bit of luck. If they do that,

:29:12. > :29:16.they have a chance. Considering what happened against Ukraine, it is a

:29:17. > :29:19.game you can see on BBC One on Tuesday at 4.30pm in the afternoon

:29:20. > :29:23.with coverage of the other game, Ukraine against Poland on the Red

:29:24. > :29:28.Button. Both games also available to be viewed on the website. Before

:29:29. > :29:33.that, you can catch coverage of Slovakia versus England on Radio 5

:29:34. > :29:38.Live and Russia versus Wales on 5 Live Sports Extra at 8.00pm tomorrow

:29:39. > :29:43.evening. Then later that day, there are highlights of both games on BBC

:29:49. > :29:50.and set up Euro 2016 goal alerts. If you are a music fan, there is a

:29:51. > :30:21.decent gig coming your way. So that is coming up on Friday N

:30:22. > :30:26.Lyons, Albania, 1-0 up against Romania. After being under the cosh

:30:27. > :30:33.for the first 22 minutes. They did carve out their own chances. They've

:30:34. > :30:36.had chance after chance and that is through perseverance, getting

:30:37. > :30:41.players up to support the centre forward. He's worked his socks off

:30:42. > :30:46.as well. We know that was offside, but, I think he will be delighted

:30:47. > :30:52.that is offside, because... He didn't know at the time. Incredibly

:30:53. > :30:58.you see that in other games, Trevor and it puts them off their stride,

:30:59. > :31:03.but Albania got stronger afterwards. The belief... I looked at that

:31:04. > :31:07.chance, I thought, he's brought his head up, but he kept his eye on the

:31:08. > :31:13.ball. It is the execution, leaning back a bit too much. They started to

:31:14. > :31:17.create chances. Think I they will go into the second half similar to the

:31:18. > :31:21.first, where they will sit back and they will suck on Romania and go

:31:22. > :31:24.again. The players are back out on the pitch. Let's rejoin Mark and

:31:25. > :31:31.Simon. THE COMMENTATOR: Thank you. We are

:31:32. > :31:35.almost ready to go.al bane that will get the second half under way and

:31:36. > :31:45.the coach of Romania made one change at half-time.

:31:46. > :31:49.Taking off Prepelita and replaces him with Sanmartean.

:31:50. > :31:58.I wonder what was said at half-time? More of the same? I would that

:31:59. > :32:05.thought so, Simon. Don't dare ask me what the other would have said...

:32:06. > :32:12.Are we past the watershed! Albania are ahead, thanks to a header from

:32:13. > :32:28.Sadiku. The player who has the ball at his feet.

:32:29. > :32:41.A firmly placed header into the far corner of the net. Albania have a

:32:42. > :32:55.lead here against Romania. They had one shot, fairly early in the game

:32:56. > :32:59.from Stancu. Their creativity has been stifled by Albania.

:33:00. > :33:10.Albania with the first corner of the second half. He has been a good

:33:11. > :33:13.player Hysaj. Very, very accomplished.

:33:14. > :33:18.And Albania picking up at the start of the second half where they left

:33:19. > :33:20.off in the first. It will be Memushaj who will take this corner

:33:21. > :33:31.kick for them. And met by the head Mavraj at the

:33:32. > :33:45.back. Helped propel it upwards rather than

:33:46. > :33:50.down. Mavraj plays in co-long.

:33:51. > :33:52.German-born. Played for Germany at youth levels and spent his entire

:33:53. > :34:07.career in Germany. A solid partnership with Ajeti.

:34:08. > :34:16.Ajeti doing well in his absence. Keeping his place.

:34:17. > :34:51.this second half, Nicolae Stanciu. Sadiku gives it away.

:34:52. > :35:06.I am not sure if it was two flees and a six, this.

:35:07. > :35:20.Just... Oh, he's held his shirt. No, forget about "just." Definite!

:35:21. > :35:27.A little flicked header on there by Lila.

:35:28. > :35:36.There's the man whose name will go down in Albanian footballing folk

:35:37. > :36:01.law. Lila, I thought he had the throw in.

:36:02. > :36:07.Space here for Stanciu. The Romanian pass is going astray

:36:08. > :36:25.now. Abrashi with the throw-in.

:36:26. > :36:30.Here's the substitute, Sanmartean. Still going here.

:36:31. > :36:37.Agolli comes away with it. He's been very solid for Albania,

:36:38. > :36:46.the full-back. And he loves a tackle. Nice and aggressive.

:36:47. > :37:08.He's a captain, is he not? Yes, he is today.

:37:09. > :37:13.Given away again. Now a chance for Memushaj.

:37:14. > :37:21.Sadiku making tracks into the penalty area. Sadiku, stays down.

:37:22. > :37:23.Cannot find a team-mate, cannot create a chance. Couldn't find his

:37:24. > :37:33.feet. Into Sadiku. Won by Grigore.

:37:34. > :37:41.Basha throws himself at the ball. He gets a free kick.

:37:42. > :37:46.Should have done better, Sadiku, shouldn't he before.

:37:47. > :37:52.It looked a very exciting scenario from Albania's point of view here,

:37:53. > :38:16.when Memushaj fed the ball through. It has got to be worth a shot... Got

:38:17. > :38:28.to be! Memushaj will fancy this from that

:38:29. > :38:37.sort of range. Memushaj... It fizzled out that

:38:38. > :38:41.opportunity. If you have a shot that is one person, once you start

:38:42. > :38:59.involving other people there's more chance of it going wrong.

:39:00. > :39:12.Haven't seen much of Stanccu, number 19 for Romania. Like all their

:39:13. > :39:15.players, Stanciu, Stancu. Popa started brightly and has gone

:39:16. > :39:28.quiet. In the air by Matel...

:39:29. > :39:32.Hysaj will take the throw in. He's been with Italy since he was 14

:39:33. > :40:00.years of age. Up to Sadiku. Closed down by. Abrashi. They were

:40:01. > :40:03.like this on Wednesday against France. They ran out of gas in the

:40:04. > :40:21.final few minutes. A stupid foul by Matel.

:40:22. > :40:23.Of all of the games he's had... And Albania with the free kick here,

:40:24. > :40:34.which Memushaj will take. And a chance to put Romania back

:40:35. > :40:40.against the ropes here. No doubt about the free kick, as you can see.

:40:41. > :41:04.Are you sure? Not the most subtle of challenges.

:41:05. > :41:11.Ajeti and Mavraj as well. The referee with plenty to keep an eye

:41:12. > :41:17.on. Mavraj is getting a little

:41:18. > :41:19.over-enthusiastic. We have this and the free kick comes in and we have

:41:20. > :41:29.the same thing, don't we? Two players have been spoken to

:41:30. > :41:38.there by the referee. Memushaj's delivery.

:41:39. > :41:48.And it was much a do about nothing. That's a poor corner.

:41:49. > :41:58.Basha and Alibec colliding there. Basha playing it down... He

:41:59. > :42:03.alreadied a his name taken down. I don't think he's done anything bad

:42:04. > :42:07.there. Alibec may have fallen badly there - that left knee.

:42:08. > :42:17.You can see why he's in pain, but no blame will be attached there. There

:42:18. > :42:24.you are, Grigore is chanting over to the bench.

:42:25. > :42:29.It doesn't look great at the moment for Denis Alibec. There may have to

:42:30. > :42:31.be another chance. It looks like the manager is preparing to do so,

:42:32. > :42:38.anyway. Here it is once more.

:42:39. > :42:59.You can see what the likely problem is there - that left knee.

:43:00. > :43:09.Torje looks like he's the player about to come on. He looks in real

:43:10. > :43:12.pain, doesn't he? As you say something those ones create the

:43:13. > :43:21.serious problems. Always seriously the worse.

:43:22. > :43:35.So Torje will come on. The sad sight of a player being stretchered off.

:43:36. > :43:39.Unfortunately for him. Alibec is unable to leave the field

:43:40. > :43:45.under his own steam there. Let's hope that's not as bad as it

:43:46. > :43:50.looks. Hopefully it isn't. Torje is on to replace him. He came

:43:51. > :43:57.off the ben nch the first game against France. Started the last one

:43:58. > :44:06.against Switzerland. He made his international debut

:44:07. > :44:09.against Albania in a qualifier in 2012.

:44:10. > :44:18.Alibec looked like he was screaming in agony before. He looks like he's

:44:19. > :44:22.sat up, which is a better sign. The match resumes and the flag up

:44:23. > :44:24.straight away. It was Memushaj over on the far

:44:25. > :44:34.side. A reminder, of course, the host

:44:35. > :44:38.France playing against Switzerland in this group. They have played 58

:44:39. > :44:42.minutes in that one as well. It remains goalless. France will top

:44:43. > :44:46.the group. They have already qualified, of course. They would be

:44:47. > :44:49.on seven. Switzerland second on five. Albania, third on three.

:44:50. > :45:12.Albania bringing up the rear on one. We are about to see a change for

:45:13. > :45:25.Albania now. Armando Sadiku will get a standing ovation.

:45:26. > :45:37.He's the man who scored the goal that separates the two sides. And

:45:38. > :45:41.Bekim Balaj is on to replace him. Balaj is a powerful centre forward.

:45:42. > :45:47.He scored the goal that beat Portugal away two years ago. Up to

:45:48. > :45:51.now, it remains his only international goal.

:45:52. > :45:57.What's happened there? Another stoppage in play. Andi Lila the

:45:58. > :46:22.player down this time. 1-0 Albania. Romania not threatening

:46:23. > :47:05.for some considerable time in this match.

:47:06. > :47:14.He is progressive, isn't he? You can see, head up, trying to pass it and

:47:15. > :47:19.make them hurry a little bit, zip passes into players.

:47:20. > :47:23.Albania are a hard-working unit. They are really great, the way they

:47:24. > :47:33.have stuck at it. Half an hour to go. One goal in the

:47:34. > :48:04.game. Romania have work to do here. A

:48:05. > :48:10.touch from Stancu. Torje. Blocked... Great block, really solid. Didn't

:48:11. > :48:20.move an inch and took it like a man. May need to do so again here. They

:48:21. > :48:25.have a corner. Albania have been forced back now. I hope they don't

:48:26. > :48:37.sit deep and try the next 30-plus minutes to ride this out.

:48:38. > :48:44.Everybody is back in and around the penalty area for Albania. All 11

:48:45. > :48:55.players inside their own penalty area.

:48:56. > :49:06.We are about to have two balls on the field.

:49:07. > :49:12.A bit of space here, a chance for a delivery. The ball whipped in.

:49:13. > :49:17.Almost met by the head of Stancu. Yeah, great ball in. A little bit of

:49:18. > :49:21.pressure from the defender, but much better from Romania. The last few

:49:22. > :49:23.minutes, with the two substitutions, they have started to look a bit more

:49:24. > :49:41.like a team. Albania's record against Romania is

:49:42. > :49:48.not a very good one at all. Two wins, four draws and ten defeats

:49:49. > :49:53.over the years. We are not surprised by that. They are a slowly

:49:54. > :50:04.developing nation. 1938 their last win over Romania.

:50:05. > :50:10.A shot from Memushaj and Tatarusanu was less than convincing. A less

:50:11. > :50:13.than convincing evening. It is as though he wasn't expecting it. Dear

:50:14. > :50:24.oh dear. Have Romania got the craft and the

:50:25. > :50:28.guile to prise open this Albanian defence?

:50:29. > :50:33.You are right, ref, he is lucky. He might get a yellow here. It was a

:50:34. > :50:43.poor tackle. That's not it. He's got chocolate

:50:44. > :51:05.fingers, him. Balaj is able to bring it under

:51:06. > :51:16.control, but quickly snuffed out by the Romanian defence. It was Vlad

:51:17. > :51:26.Chiriches... Foul. Stupid foul yet again.

:51:27. > :51:40.Here it is once more. Just a bit unlucky here. It is not a bad first

:51:41. > :51:42.touch. That was the problem, he couldn't basically engineer it to

:51:43. > :51:53.his feet. Difficult coming over your shoulder

:51:54. > :51:57.like that. Ledian Memushaj with this free kick for Albania. We are almost

:51:58. > :52:08.20 minutes into the second half here and they are leading 1-0.

:52:09. > :52:18.Romania will have a free kick. Well, they won't show the pushing and the

:52:19. > :52:30.shoving, but it is so blatant. Romania are going to make another

:52:31. > :52:34.change here, their third and final change, Florin Andone coming on. He

:52:35. > :52:37.started against the French, I think. Yes, he came off the bench for the

:52:38. > :52:42.last six minutes against Switzerland, the last time out. He

:52:43. > :52:47.will get a bit longer this time. Stancu... Andone waits to come on.

:52:48. > :53:00.Sanmartean doing well, the substitute. Almost created a

:53:01. > :53:08.shooting chance. He will get a free kick. Migjen Basha needs to be

:53:09. > :53:14.careful, having had that early yellow card. He played for it and

:53:15. > :53:26.won it, Lucian Sanmartean. He's caught him.

:53:27. > :53:36.A rare opportunity for Romania to test Etrit Berisha.

:53:37. > :53:55.It will be right-footed. Where is he going to stand, the goalkeeper? It

:53:56. > :53:57.always amazes me, this. It looks like he is trying to whip it around

:53:58. > :54:16.the end of the wall. Sanmartean strikes it and the

:54:17. > :54:20.well-populated wall does its job. The Romanian on the end of the wall

:54:21. > :54:25.was the one who had to try and take one of the Albanian defenders away

:54:26. > :54:38.for that to work. Balaj is prepared to run as hard as Sadiku did.

:54:39. > :54:47.They are playing with a bit of zip, aren't they, Romania? Why didn't

:54:48. > :54:51.they start like this? Sanmartean and Torje have added a bit... Why didn't

:54:52. > :54:59.they start like this? It always makes me laugh. Midway through the

:55:00. > :55:05.second half. We are still waiting for that change, which is just being

:55:06. > :55:13.made now. Florin Andone is coming on. And Adrian Popa is the player

:55:14. > :55:23.going off. All three changes made by Anghel Iordanescu now. Andone plays

:55:24. > :55:29.in Spain, scored 21 goals. 12 players were on for a minute there!

:55:30. > :55:35.To add insult to injury, the player going off has to walk all the way

:55:36. > :55:38.around the pitch. What on earth! We can see him on the far side in a

:55:39. > :55:42.moment. The camera didn't go that far. It will be a while before he

:55:43. > :56:05.gets back to the bench. It is almost like a Walk of Shame.

:56:06. > :56:30.The sub went to control the ball behind the goal.

:56:31. > :56:39.Just watch the substitute. We want to see it. It wasn't his best touch,

:56:40. > :56:58.the sub, either. You are right, he was rubbish!

:56:59. > :57:07.Just wonder if they think they have weathered the storm so far. What are

:57:08. > :57:11.we, just over 20 minutes to go? Berisha hasn't been busy in this

:57:12. > :57:21.second half. Probably just as well, the couple of times we have seen

:57:22. > :57:26.him. The shot blasted wide. The throw-in to the striker who chests

:57:27. > :57:30.it down to the man and he hits the shot. Nothing wrong with it. The

:57:31. > :57:35.last 20 minutes of the match. Still just that one goal, the Sadiku

:57:36. > :57:37.header, separating the two teams. No goals in Lille between Switzerland

:57:38. > :57:57.and France. Sanmartean has made a very positive

:57:58. > :58:03.impact. He has, indeed. He got that one wrong, but he started to make

:58:04. > :58:07.them play. He has given the ball to players quickly, as though to say,

:58:08. > :58:16.come on! Let's start to up the pace a little bit.

:58:17. > :58:25.Iordanescu looks mightily disgruntled on the touchline. In the

:58:26. > :58:26.second half, he hasn't been screaming and shouting anything like

:58:27. > :59:12.he was in the first. Good move, though. Good move. A

:59:13. > :59:15.little bit asleep, Albania. He was onside. They were very unfortunate

:59:16. > :59:38.there. Romania have got a bit more about

:59:39. > :59:58.them now, now they have made those substitutions. Lila.

:59:59. > :00:08.A good defender as well as a good player going forward. Asking him to

:00:09. > :00:12.step in. Following his coach last summer to Napoli.

:00:13. > :00:18.Settled into their team very, very quickly.

:00:19. > :00:29.Lenjani, who had that great chance in the first half.

:00:30. > :00:47.And Agolli with a way ward pass here. Will he be made to pay for it?

:00:48. > :00:53.Not this time. The challenge came down on Stancu. Romania need to be

:00:54. > :01:16.careful here. Just offside. Didn't really need to go that early.

:01:17. > :01:29.Sanmartean, once more. Tip toes his way across Memushaj there.

:01:30. > :01:41.Making another substitution, are they? The final change Roshi will

:01:42. > :01:49.come on. Here is the challenge. What a solid one there.

:01:50. > :02:00.You can see why he's found it hard to get back into the team.

:02:01. > :02:08.Ajeti represented Switzerland, played for the under-21.

:02:09. > :02:19.He plays in Italy. Ajeti, only 22 as well.

:02:20. > :02:23.A little flick on by Torje. Romania are struggling to create a

:02:24. > :02:31.great deal. I think the thing is, they get up to 30 metres from the

:02:32. > :02:35.Albanian goal. They don't really have great width, do they? Ajeti

:02:36. > :02:39.with the ball forward... Albania inching towards the line.

:02:40. > :03:09.Into the last 15 minutes. They might get one of those chances

:03:10. > :03:10.now. Slapped against the bar. Andone, the substitute and Berisha

:03:11. > :03:20.will be a very relieved man, indeed. A great move. A great move! Super

:03:21. > :03:25.play from Romania. Desperately unlucky not to be level with that

:03:26. > :03:30.shot there. The keeper was waving a plane in when it went past him.

:03:31. > :03:37.Why has it taken so long to substitute him?

:03:38. > :03:44.Lenjani will go off. Roshi on to replace him.

:03:45. > :03:53.Roshi will play over on the far side.

:03:54. > :04:00.A little reminder that tomorrow night from 10. 45pm we will bring

:04:01. > :04:06.you high lights of the conclusion of Group B

:04:07. > :04:11.On Tuesday, live on BBC One, from 4. 30pm, Group C, Northern Ireland's

:04:12. > :04:17.final group match and they meet the world champions, Germany. For the

:04:18. > :04:22.moment, we are concentrating on Romania-Albania. Albania looking for

:04:23. > :04:26.their first ever win, first ever points at a major tournament, but

:04:27. > :04:31.Romania are knocking on the door a little. They are starting to ask a

:04:32. > :04:32.few more questions of the Albanian defence, who are nearly finding a

:04:33. > :04:46.way through, a moment or two ago. All the play is Romania's at the

:04:47. > :04:51.moment now. They are picking up all the lose pieces.

:04:52. > :04:56.A postage stamp job from there. The only chance you will beat the

:04:57. > :05:09.goalkeeper. So many bodies are in the way.

:05:10. > :05:13.That's the thing, isn't it, with a side like Albania? They must be a

:05:14. > :05:19.very difficult team to play against. Yes, because they are, isn't it?

:05:20. > :05:29.So, organised and so solid at the back.

:05:30. > :05:37.Roshi... Doesn't get the throw, it is Romania's with 12 minutes to go

:05:38. > :05:41.here. This would be the result of the

:05:42. > :05:52.tournament, or would that be a hungry win? It is hard to say, but

:05:53. > :05:58.Albania would become, I think, the third first-timers at the Euros to

:05:59. > :06:03.win if they win tonight. Romania look as though they will carve out a

:06:04. > :06:09.chance or two between now and the final whistle.

:06:10. > :06:16.It would be their first goal from open play in the Euros for a long,

:06:17. > :06:21.long time. Memushaj feeds it through... Nobody

:06:22. > :06:23.is in the centre yet. Lila running up belatedly to the

:06:24. > :06:33.box. One ball has basically got them from

:06:34. > :06:42.30 metres from their own goal to deep in Romania's half.

:06:43. > :06:50.The Albanian fans doing their bit to be the 12th man out there on the

:06:51. > :06:54.field. Certainly the noisiest spectators of

:06:55. > :07:00.any of the games I have been to. They sound as if they are going to

:07:01. > :07:21.war, in a nice kind of way. Very, very threatening, its is.

:07:22. > :07:30.Just looking for that one little opening, Romania.

:07:31. > :07:46.It is Andone who smacked the crossbar.

:07:47. > :08:03.All the Romanian outfield players are in row Albania's half.

:08:04. > :08:08.Stancu creates an opening. That was an unfortunate slip. About to pull

:08:09. > :08:23.the trigger. They are a colourful crowd. . They

:08:24. > :08:37.are brilliant the Albanians. I can see his left foot gives way.

:08:38. > :08:42.A touch of cramp. The referee less than sympathetic. He's saying get

:08:43. > :08:54.the stretcher on. He's certainly got cramp, hasn't he?

:08:55. > :09:20.It has been a great night out so far for those spectators. Fantastic!

:09:21. > :09:26.Two-thirds of the stadium rocking to its foundations with the Albanian

:09:27. > :09:40.fans. Cana will come on shortly.

:09:41. > :09:45.Basha is still off the field, having come across to the near side.

:09:46. > :09:59.Basha is back on. Now the referee will stop the game.

:10:00. > :10:06.They are emploring the Albanian fans to get noisy in the closing stages

:10:07. > :10:12.here. I don't think they need too much encouragement. A roar to greet

:10:13. > :10:16.Cana back on the field. Looking to add extra solidity against the

:10:17. > :10:21.onslaught from Romania in the final moments of the game. Nearly 83

:10:22. > :10:26.minutes played in Lyons. Sanmartean, into Torje. Waits for

:10:27. > :10:29.the challenge. Gets a free kick. Given away by Abrashi. Just a little

:10:30. > :11:08.bit naive, Albania. I think this is the perfect distance

:11:09. > :11:09.to score, Simon. Has the ball right where he wants

:11:10. > :11:42.it. A yellow card, I think, for

:11:43. > :11:44.Memushaj. The keeper is not sure where he's going to stand, I don't

:11:45. > :11:54.think. If they stand there much longer they

:11:55. > :11:55.will need more spray, because it has evaporated.

:11:56. > :12:05.Are we ready? A tense moment for Albania. Torje

:12:06. > :12:17.with the kick. The wall does its job. A great wall.

:12:18. > :12:21.Feeding it away to the far side of the field.

:12:22. > :12:29.A fresh pair of legs. Good play by Roshi and he's won a

:12:30. > :12:34.corner kick, just what Albania needed.

:12:35. > :12:41.Roshi wastes no time in whipping up the fans again. Five minutes to go,

:12:42. > :13:05.plus added time. Five minutes from a very famous win.

:13:06. > :13:14.A lot of people in this stadium thought it was actually in. In all

:13:15. > :13:21.honesty, he should have done better. Collected again by Memushaj.

:13:22. > :13:31.Roshi. Fleet of foot, gaining ground. It could be a chance here.

:13:32. > :13:36.Abrashi... A lack of conviction about that.

:13:37. > :13:47.Lila... He's happy to go and take his time in the corner.

:13:48. > :13:53.Got a corner. The ball that came to the edge, he

:13:54. > :14:01.should have just hit that first time. Didn't look convinced at all,

:14:02. > :14:09.did he? Absolutely not. It was the effort from the defender up from the

:14:10. > :14:17.back. Nearly 87 minutes on the watch.

:14:18. > :14:21.Memushaj with this corner. Can they wrap the game up? The

:14:22. > :14:28.header goes wide of the goal. It was Lila who got his head to that

:14:29. > :14:44.one. Hoban... The clock is ticking a bit

:14:45. > :14:50.here. Romania need to come up with something special.

:14:51. > :14:53.They need to find a little bit of creativity to prize open this very

:14:54. > :15:17.solid Albanian defence. Now here comes Amir Abrashi. That is

:15:18. > :15:25.Roshi on the outside. Balaj is in the centre. He is the only one in

:15:26. > :15:28.the box. Roshi has done well. And Ciprian Tatarusanu had all the time

:15:29. > :15:34.in the world to drop down on that. It was a bit of a waste. It would be

:15:35. > :15:38.nice if someone thought of attacking the ball from Romania's point of

:15:39. > :15:46.view. It is coming back towards them.

:15:47. > :15:54.The yellow shirts are swarming around the Albanian penalty area.

:15:55. > :15:55.Inside the last couple of minutes of the match. Stancu with the header

:15:56. > :16:05.down. It's a foul. Well played Albania.

:16:06. > :16:18.Well played. They have played a smart game,

:16:19. > :16:23.Albania. They have created some chances tonight. They have put one

:16:24. > :16:25.of them away. Will it be enough? They are nearly there. We are into

:16:26. > :16:44.the last minute of the 90. Memushaj gets a yellow card. They

:16:45. > :16:49.need to stick this in the corner. Free kick for Albania. The last few

:16:50. > :16:54.moments of the 90 minutes are playing out.

:16:55. > :17:02.There is nothing wrong with Balaj. He's fine. I think there will still

:17:03. > :17:07.be some time for Romania. We will probably be heading for five minutes

:17:08. > :17:17.of added time. He's fine. He is absolutely fine. Nothing wrong with

:17:18. > :17:22.him. De Biasi using the opportunity for a few more words to his players.

:17:23. > :17:26.Romania are starting to stick a few players further forward, so you will

:17:27. > :17:33.always have an extra man anyway, defensively. Five minutes of added

:17:34. > :17:35.time. We are into those five minutes now. That will seem like an

:17:36. > :17:50.eternity. Swung across the penalty area by

:17:51. > :17:52.Ledian Memushaj. Away off the head of Chiriches. Abrashi. Roshi.

:17:53. > :18:07.Onside. Abrashi with the ball in. Memushaj.

:18:08. > :18:18.Happy to hold on to it for as long as he can. Well played. That is

:18:19. > :18:21.excellent play. Very professional. Memushaj, a player who has spent his

:18:22. > :18:25.entire career in the lower leagues in Italy. Showed some nice touches

:18:26. > :18:40.tonight. A cool head there. A minute into our minimum of five.

:18:41. > :18:46.Albania edging closer to that first win in a major tournament.

:18:47. > :18:53.It's finished 0-0 between France and Switzerland in Lille. Albania break

:18:54. > :18:57.forward again and the referee has pulled the game back and given them

:18:58. > :19:04.a free kick when Amir Abrashi was racing into the box. He had already

:19:05. > :19:08.blown. Abrashi wanted to take the ball further away to waste a few

:19:09. > :19:13.more seconds. It is hard to tell with all the whistling and screaming

:19:14. > :19:24.inside the stadium. I'm with you. The referee saw that straightaway.

:19:25. > :19:37.This has to go into the corner again. Double bluff.

:19:38. > :19:44.It's given Romania the ball. Stick it in the corner and try and get

:19:45. > :19:48.another free kick. A swing of the boot from Gabriel Torje. Romania

:19:49. > :19:55.have to get the ball forward quickly here. They do at least have a

:19:56. > :19:59.throw-in. Still time for them. The referee blows here now. A yellow

:20:00. > :20:05.card and a free kick for Albania. The yellow card for Gabriel Torje.

:20:06. > :20:15.Potty. Hold on a minute, is he going to give the free kick? How daft is

:20:16. > :20:22.that? Why would you book a player and then not give the foul? I'm

:20:23. > :20:31.asking you. Maybe we should ask him! Justice! Romania, the team with the

:20:32. > :20:35.best defensive record of all of them who qualified for this tournament,

:20:36. > :20:40.they only conceded two goals in the whole of the qualification process,

:20:41. > :20:43.at the moment would appear to be preparing to leave France with one

:20:44. > :20:50.point from their three matches. There is still time for them, but

:20:51. > :20:52.not very much of it. Yellow card for Elseid Hysaj.

:20:53. > :21:17.Deep in added time. Torje trying to free things up.

:21:18. > :21:24.Sapunaru, away to the far side. Hoban with a lay-off. Stancu. Again,

:21:25. > :21:27.he created the opportunity for himself, as he has done once or

:21:28. > :21:36.twice in the game and the finish was wayward. I would think, Simon, that

:21:37. > :21:41.would be it. Well done, Albania. Well done, Albania. Fantastic. We

:21:42. > :21:49.are in the last minute of our minimum of five here. And Gianni De

:21:50. > :21:59.Biasi and Albania are on the brink of a momentous result. Their first

:22:00. > :22:03.appearance at a major tournament finals, they hadn't scored a goal,

:22:04. > :22:12.they hadn't accrued a point before tonight. But they have done both

:22:13. > :22:15.here in Lyon. And luckily there are thousands of Albanian fans inside

:22:16. > :22:20.the stadium to see it. They need to take it down to the corner and Lila

:22:21. > :22:32.feeding it into Abrashi and he can't finish it off. He has got a corner.

:22:33. > :22:35.He has. The roar of approval is long and loud. They know once this corner

:22:36. > :22:45.is taken and dealt with, that probably will be it. Just sit on it

:22:46. > :22:50.in the corner. Just sit on it. Take a whack if you need to.

:22:51. > :23:01.There goes the final whistle! Albania have done it! Thanks to that

:23:02. > :23:05.header from Armando Sadiku. A first-ever win for Albania at a

:23:06. > :23:11.major tournament. They will celebrate hard and long into the

:23:12. > :23:16.night. Albania finish above Romania in the group, in third place, on

:23:17. > :23:21.three points, Romania are going home. Albania will cross their

:23:22. > :23:26.fingers and hope that the adventure can continue. For them, a night to

:23:27. > :23:32.remember. Armando Sadiku, the goalscorer. Romania 0, Albania 1.

:23:33. > :23:39.STUDIO: Thank you to Simon Brotherton and Mark Lawrenson. What

:23:40. > :23:44.a terrific performance from Albania. Fully deserved. 100% deserved it.

:23:45. > :23:48.The way they went about their business, they set out their stall

:23:49. > :23:52.very early and it worked for them. I am pleased for them. If Romania had

:23:53. > :23:58.nicked it at the end, I don't think it would have been fair. Albania,

:23:59. > :24:02.the manager got it spot on. You love the way they saw themselves through

:24:03. > :24:06.in that second half? The discipline, the work rate, the togetherness of

:24:07. > :24:10.that team was outstanding. In the end, they said to Romania, is that

:24:11. > :24:14.all you have got? They ran out of ideas. They did. They were kicking

:24:15. > :24:19.the ball out of play. They were playing into the hands of the

:24:20. > :24:25.Albanians. Albania scored a goal. I know. They will be watching this

:24:26. > :24:31.moment time after time, it is Armando Sadiku who put them 1-0 up,

:24:32. > :24:36.44 minutes, just before half-time. Great time to score. Yes. He was the

:24:37. > :24:43.man on the spot after a terrific ball from out wide. Yes. Memushaj

:24:44. > :24:48.has been outstanding. His touches, his bit of guile, his work rate, his

:24:49. > :24:51.enthusiasm. They were winning corners and getting the fans up for

:24:52. > :24:56.it. Brilliant passion. That is what the fans love to hear. Let's find

:24:57. > :25:01.out how Switzerland and France got on. Commentary from Jonathan Pearce

:25:02. > :25:16.and Danny Murphy. It comes to the near post. Just

:25:17. > :25:26.scraped away. It comes off Pogba, Giroud is lying on the floor, he

:25:27. > :25:39.can't get a touch. A super ball in. Pogba! Spilt to the top of the bar.

:25:40. > :25:47.Sets up Pogba! Lovely save. It is that man Pogba again. What a save

:25:48. > :25:59.that is. Pogba. He goes for it. Clips the

:26:00. > :26:03.bar. That is the Pogba that France have been waiting to see. Terrific

:26:04. > :26:20.strike. Very, very unlucky. Pogba was strong there. Griezmann!

:26:21. > :26:29.Lovely one-two with Griezmann. Scoops it with his right foot.

:26:30. > :26:35.Look at this for power and determination. Griezmann is in the

:26:36. > :26:39.middle. Payet is further across. He is aimed it at Payet. Brilliant

:26:40. > :26:46.ball. Oh, it would have been stunning! It would have been

:26:47. > :26:48.absolutely astonishing. Takes his time, keeps going, gets his head up.

:26:49. > :27:03.Great ball. Can't do much more. 0-0 it finished in Lille. Group A

:27:04. > :27:07.concludes with France in top spot. They face one of the best

:27:08. > :27:13.third-placed finishers a week today in Lyon. Switzerland secured second.

:27:14. > :27:17.They face the runners-up of Group C. Albania's historic win moves them up

:27:18. > :27:20.to third, they will have their calculators out in what could be an

:27:21. > :27:25.anxious wait to see if they could qualify. It is all complicated. One

:27:26. > :27:33.thing we are sure of, Romania have finished bottom and are going home.

:27:34. > :27:36.We talk about calculators, Albania face a nervy three-day wait for the

:27:37. > :27:41.other group games to finish to see if they can qualify? Well, they are

:27:42. > :27:45.in a position that they are waiting for something. They could have been

:27:46. > :27:48.out, but the way they went about their business, the way the manager

:27:49. > :27:53.set them out, we have to mention certain players and we might as well

:27:54. > :27:58.do it now. The two centre-halves were superb. Memushaj was superb. We

:27:59. > :28:01.shouldn't be surprised by the organisation shown by Albania by the

:28:02. > :28:05.way they frustrated France? Absolutely. Nearly got to the

:28:06. > :28:15.finishing line against France. You have to give credit to the manager,

:28:16. > :28:18.De Biasi, Cana got sent off in that game against Switzerland. You need

:28:19. > :28:23.to rely on your defence. I'll have to leave it there. Thank you very

:28:24. > :28:27.much. That is it from us then. Albania claim a historic first-ever

:28:28. > :28:30.win at the European Championships. And the nervy wait to see if they

:28:31. > :28:32.make the knockout phase. Thanks for watching. From all of us, bye for

:28:33. > :28:39.now. Two sides with a point between them

:28:40. > :28:48.so far. They do still have hopes of reaching the last 16. Sadiku with

:28:49. > :28:50.the header. An historic moment for Albanian football. Their first-ever

:28:51. > :29:15.goal at a major tournament. Oh, God! Argh!

:29:16. > :29:19.HE COUGHS AND SCREAMS
