:00:32. > :00:37.Good morning. We have an England men's football team in a World Cup

:00:38. > :00:41.final and we have not had a chance to say that too often over the

:00:42. > :00:44.years. At under 20 level this morning they are taking on

:00:45. > :01:37.Venezuela. England got to the final in some style.

:01:38. > :01:50.Brilliant ball! England are level. The back post. A big chance. Can he

:01:51. > :01:55.score? Here we go! Amazing. Surely now?

:01:56. > :01:59.Not long until kick-off. We will be in South Korea shortly for the

:02:00. > :02:07.national anthems. Two former England international Sue also represented

:02:08. > :02:13.the country at U21 level and are not on holiday! England got there in

:02:14. > :02:18.style, but impressively, beating Argentina in the first group game.

:02:19. > :02:22.Yes, and I think it is really important that players of this age

:02:23. > :02:26.get tournament experience. We have talked about it for a long time. You

:02:27. > :02:29.cannot underestimate how valuable it is to learn how to play in

:02:30. > :02:34.tournaments and be away from home for long periods of time. A lot of

:02:35. > :02:37.these players are not getting too much club football and it is vital.

:02:38. > :02:41.Fair play. They have played well, they have scored goals and they have

:02:42. > :02:45.looked solid and they deserve to be where they are. Goal-scorers get all

:02:46. > :02:50.the attention, as you and I know. We will ignore that! Solanke has got

:02:51. > :02:55.four in this tournament and on Chelsea's books and looking to go to

:02:56. > :03:00.Liverpool. And the Everton player has got three. It is good for

:03:01. > :03:04.Solanke, evidently. Yes, good for his confidence. He didn't play last

:03:05. > :03:09.season. On the fringes at Chelsea. Got the move to Liverpool, from the

:03:10. > :03:12.1st of July. Four goals in the tournament and looking really

:03:13. > :03:17.confident. It looked like he has really got the zest for the game. At

:03:18. > :03:20.such a young age it seems bizarre saying that. He has had a decent

:03:21. > :03:33.experience a couple of years ago, scoring seven

:03:34. > :03:38.goals in 21 games, and then didn't get a look in with Chelsea but he

:03:39. > :03:41.has come back and he looks to be on fire and I am excited for his

:03:42. > :03:43.Liverpool future. He made his debut in 2014, Solanke, one month after

:03:44. > :03:47.turning 17. He has had more opportunities, the Everton player.

:03:48. > :03:50.Is that because he has cost more money? Possibly. But it is the huge

:03:51. > :03:56.problem we have between the age of 18 and 19 and 22 and 23.

:03:57. > :04:00.Opportunities at top clubs are very limited. These are technical players

:04:01. > :04:05.that have the ability to play in the Premier League. They are probably a

:04:06. > :04:08.bit too good for League One, which is a problem. Managers don't quite

:04:09. > :04:11.fancy them with the physicality of those leagues. If they are not

:04:12. > :04:15.careful, they end up in no man's land. With Solanke going to

:04:16. > :04:19.Liverpool, he needs to play, he needs to play football at this age.

:04:20. > :04:23.They need the experience, playing football. If they are not playing

:04:24. > :04:27.football at a giant club like Manchester City or Liverpool, they

:04:28. > :04:33.need to go lower down, simple as that. Lewis Cook is the England

:04:34. > :04:35.captain. Bought for ?7 million by Leeds. We will join Guy Mowbray

:04:36. > :04:47.after the national anthems. Ladies and gentlemen, the national

:04:48. > :05:08.anthem of Venezuela. # Gloria al bravo pueblo

:05:09. > :05:10.# Que el yugo lanzo # La Ley respetando

:05:11. > :05:12.# La virtud y honor # Gloria al bravo pueblo

:05:13. > :05:15.# Que el yugo lanzo # La Ley respetando

:05:16. > :05:17.# La virtud y honor # Y el pobre en su

:05:18. > :05:28.choza # A este santo nombre

:05:29. > :05:35.temblo de pavor # A este santo

:05:36. > :05:47.nombre temblo de pavor And now the national anthem of

:05:48. > :06:46.England. # Long

:06:47. > :07:37.live our noble Queen Good morning, everyone, and welcome

:07:38. > :07:41.to your Sunday morning bonus of watching an England football team in

:07:42. > :07:46.a World Cup final. Any experience of an England team makes me hesitant to

:07:47. > :07:49.say it, but they are favourites to win against a Venezuela side which

:07:50. > :07:56.has gone much I above expectations to get to such a prestigious event.

:07:57. > :08:00.On the world scene, theirs is a much bigger story than England's. Let's

:08:01. > :08:03.take a look at the Venezuela side which has stayed pretty consistent

:08:04. > :08:08.throughout the competition with eight of the starters having kicked

:08:09. > :08:15.off every game. Two changes compared to the semifinal line-up. I and

:08:16. > :08:25.left-back Jose Hernandez return from suspension. -- Williams Velasquez

:08:26. > :08:40.and Jose Hernandez. Penaranda is a Watford player. Adding to the

:08:41. > :08:49.collection of finals. Assisting the referees on the big screens:

:08:50. > :08:57.The video assistant referee Assistant is by and large considered

:08:58. > :09:11.to be a success at the competition so far.

:09:12. > :09:16.Lewis Cook of Bournemouth is the man with the armband for England and he

:09:17. > :09:21.has been impressive throughout the tournament. Everton have four

:09:22. > :09:26.players starting today. Jonjoe Kenny, Kieran Dowell, Calvert-Lewin

:09:27. > :09:39.and Lookman. The one change to semifinal success against Italy is

:09:40. > :09:46.Onomah back from his ban, replacing an Arsenal player. Rafael Dudamel

:09:47. > :09:53.coaches the senior and under 20 side. All things are never did play

:09:54. > :09:59.for the senior side but he did play for the U21s. -- Paul Simpson never

:10:00. > :10:08.did play. Specialist coach as recently as October this year. And

:10:09. > :10:16.can Solanke and the Cottage and as top scorer? Four goals so far for

:10:17. > :10:17.the soon Liverpool striker. -- can Solanke and the competition as top

:10:18. > :10:30.scorer? Italy and Uruguay fought out a 0-0

:10:31. > :10:37.draw in the play-off game for third, with Italy winning on penalties.

:10:38. > :10:41.Venezuela in their burgundy strip and England in all white. Danny

:10:42. > :10:49.Mills is joining me for commentary. In my time machine! I bet you wish

:10:50. > :10:54.you could go back in time to your U21 days to have the chance to play

:10:55. > :10:57.in a game as fastidious as this. A fantastic achievement from Paul

:10:58. > :11:01.Simpson and we should give credit to the FA as well for the extra

:11:02. > :11:03.importance they are placing on the youth tournaments these days. The

:11:04. > :11:08.experience that these young players pick up in these tournaments is

:11:09. > :11:16.absolutely vital. Back when I was playing with the U21s, it really was

:11:17. > :11:19.just a process with a tournament every now and then. You didn't get

:11:20. > :11:23.big tournament atmospheres and you didn't get used to being away from

:11:24. > :11:31.home for long periods. Now there is the U21s tournament. You used to

:11:32. > :11:36.play in the U21s, then the under 23 and then into the senior side. And

:11:37. > :11:40.we have seen it with the Spanish and German and Italian players, the

:11:41. > :11:42.experience you get at this level, playing tournament football,

:11:43. > :11:51.surviving away from home for long periods, it is vital. This team has

:11:52. > :11:54.been together some time. The ball has been bounced out of play for a

:11:55. > :12:01.Venezuela goalkick off Calvert-Lewin. If you in the side

:12:02. > :12:05.got pretty regular game time in the Premier League towards the end of

:12:06. > :12:12.last season. -- some of the players in the side. 11 appearances for

:12:13. > :12:22.Everton all told, and five as a starter. Farinez is the Venezuela

:12:23. > :12:28.goalkeeper. Only 5'9" but one of the most athletic. He has achieved the

:12:29. > :12:43.distinction of scoring in this tournament from the penalty spot in

:12:44. > :12:47.their 7-0 group win. Playing in the footsteps of his coach who was a

:12:48. > :12:53.goalkeeper who netted against Argentina. Goal-scoring goalkeepers

:12:54. > :13:02.are more in vogue in South America compared to Europe.

:13:03. > :13:18.Walker-Peters crowded out. The Spurs full-back with a curious link to

:13:19. > :13:20.Kyle Walker. He might be succeeded by Kyle Walker Peters one day, no

:13:21. > :13:39.relation. Hernandez tried to play it straight

:13:40. > :13:59.through Lookman, who did well. Freddie Woodman, the Newcastle

:14:00. > :14:06.United goalkeeper, who played the last part of the season, ending with

:14:07. > :14:10.Kilmarnock in Scotland. A lot of traffic to get through in terms of

:14:11. > :14:14.goalkeepers at senior level, but once he make the breakthrough for a

:14:15. > :14:19.good club, he is in a good position, being the godson of the current

:14:20. > :14:23.England manager. His dad was a half decent keeper as well. Probably a

:14:24. > :14:28.better character than he was goalkeeper. His dad was Andy

:14:29. > :14:36.Woodman, from Crystal Palace and a long time at Northampton Town. Now

:14:37. > :14:42.goalkeeping coach. Long-term friend and team-mate of Gareth Southgate.

:14:43. > :14:47.I think what is important for those watching who are not too familiar

:14:48. > :14:53.with South American football, especially Venezuela, this is

:14:54. > :14:57.vitally important to these young players. Playing for your national

:14:58. > :15:01.side for the likes of Venezuela, this is how you are going to move to

:15:02. > :15:05.a bigger club. It is not about club football. This is where it is at for

:15:06. > :15:07.them. It is vitally important that they play well and put in good

:15:08. > :15:19.performances. Solanke has a run at Ferraresi and

:15:20. > :15:25.gets passed on. Brought to an end by Ronald Hernandez and the referee

:15:26. > :15:28.didn't see anything wrong with that challenge. He was looking for the

:15:29. > :15:32.foul more than anything and expecting contact but it didn't

:15:33. > :15:35.quite happen. That is good, positive. He has got the ball in the

:15:36. > :15:41.final third of the pitch and he is running at people, trying to make

:15:42. > :15:47.things happen. That is what this England team have done from day one

:15:48. > :15:52.of the tournament. Perhaps a little bit of expression of the man in

:15:53. > :15:55.charge, Paul Simpson, we can all remember him charging up and down

:15:56. > :16:01.for Manchester City and Derby of good few years ago. Because of their

:16:02. > :16:05.age, this site will make mistakes and sometimes the quality will not

:16:06. > :16:10.be exactly where it needs to be. But what you want to see if progression,

:16:11. > :16:14.seeing the players trying to play in the right way, trying to do the

:16:15. > :16:19.right things. If there is a one-on-one situation, have a go at

:16:20. > :16:27.your man. Don't pass it for passing's sick positive football.

:16:28. > :16:30.Don't pass it around the back needlessly. This time it comes off

:16:31. > :16:35.and next time it might not but these are the things you need to look for.

:16:36. > :16:45.Lookman has been bright as a button in the opening six minutes. Bringing

:16:46. > :16:50.Walker-Peters in again. Shoved off the ball but England have it back

:16:51. > :16:58.with Lewis Cook. Jonjoe Kenny has overcooked that cross. Perfect

:16:59. > :17:02.example of what I'm talking about. Good play. The ideas are right.

:17:03. > :17:06.Lewis Cook gets the ball, plays it wide, looks for the cross to be

:17:07. > :17:09.whipped in. OK, the quality is not quite there and he accept it and

:17:10. > :17:15.that will come with experience and overtime. Jonjoe Kenny has oozed

:17:16. > :17:24.quality throughout the tournament so far. He has played every minute for

:17:25. > :17:27.England. Another player with that distinction is the centre-back,

:17:28. > :17:38.Tomori of Chelsea. Williams Velasquez is that the heart

:17:39. > :17:48.of the Venezuelan defence. He might be a Watford player one day. Playing

:17:49. > :17:59.on loan for another of the Potso owned teams, with Udinese in Italy.

:18:00. > :18:04.The man with a bleach blonde hair, Penaranda, another player who can

:18:05. > :18:17.challenge but can frustrate as well. Herrera had to be patient. Jose

:18:18. > :18:19.Hernandez almost onto it began, thwarted by Kieran Dowell.

:18:20. > :18:36.Penaranda. You get the gist of what I mean by

:18:37. > :18:41.individualistic. A good Venezuela move if Hernandez can get to it. He

:18:42. > :18:48.couldn't quite. You can hear by the buzz of the crowd who the neutrals

:18:49. > :18:51.are getting behind. A positive start by both sides. Those looking to get

:18:52. > :18:57.forward and create opportunities and use the ball well in different

:18:58. > :18:59.situations. Both of them clearly want to go out and attack and

:19:00. > :19:10.showcase their skills. That is really important.

:19:11. > :19:29.Clarke-Salter has been at Chelsea since he was nine and he has been on

:19:30. > :19:29.loan to Bristol Rovers last season, a season interrupted by a broken

:19:30. > :19:43.elbow. Lookman gives the ball away in

:19:44. > :19:54.trying to find Onomah. They have spotted an infringement. Explaining

:19:55. > :20:00.the nature of it to Herrera. I think Lookman was fortunate in that

:20:01. > :20:04.situation. I think he was expecting to get the free kick. They did him a

:20:05. > :20:22.bit of a favour. Calvert-Lewin manages to break it

:20:23. > :20:29.into Solanke. Arenas Ingold got in the way of the shot. -- Farinez

:20:30. > :20:34.Ingold. Really good move but the finish wasn't quite there. He ends

:20:35. > :20:37.up scuffing it and catches the top of the ball and doesn't get a clean

:20:38. > :20:41.connection and it is a comfortable save that pretty much it is the

:20:42. > :20:48.goalkeeper in the end. A really good move from England. Kieran Dowell

:20:49. > :20:54.with the England corner. Solanke on the move but it is over him.

:20:55. > :20:57.Calvert-Lewin could not do much with it either. The Venezuela goalkick

:20:58. > :21:13.however. Farinez is 19 years of age and

:21:14. > :21:16.already three times capped by the Venezuelan senior national side. The

:21:17. > :21:20.distinction of saving a penalty by Alexis Sanchez at the end of March

:21:21. > :21:25.in a World Cup qualifier game against Chile. Venezuela on the

:21:26. > :21:31.wrong end of a defeat, 3-1, and they are out of contention in the World

:21:32. > :21:35.Cup qualifying group. They will not be in Russia next year. That is why

:21:36. > :21:39.extra importance has been placed on this age group, the next generation,

:21:40. > :21:43.for a country that does not have much footballing pedigree. Baseball

:21:44. > :21:49.has been the main sport over the years. They are almost the exception

:21:50. > :21:52.in South America for that. If they are not already, the majority of

:21:53. > :21:59.these players will not be playing in Venezuela. They will be playing in

:22:00. > :22:05.all four corners of the globe. They are all of decent standard. Not

:22:06. > :22:07.really at the pinnacle of anyone's career so they will be looking to

:22:08. > :23:03.move abroad as soon as possible. Ronaldo Chacon is doing much of the

:23:04. > :23:12.running around for Venezuela. Onomah, that was smart.

:23:13. > :23:24.Just a little pull back on the shoulder of Clarke-Salter, giving

:23:25. > :23:29.England a free kick. The Venezuela number nine, Ronaldo Pena, scored in

:23:30. > :23:38.their opening win against Germany. Three players in their team and five

:23:39. > :23:44.at competition overwrote. They were all born in 97, so it makes sense,

:23:45. > :24:07.and all named after Ronaldo of Brazil.

:24:08. > :24:26.Taken by Walker-Peters. Dowell sending it off towards Solanke.

:24:27. > :24:38.Walker-Peters. Solanke. Lookman trying to play it through the legs

:24:39. > :24:41.of the right back, Hernandez. He will undoubtedly be on his way from

:24:42. > :24:44.his home country sometimes in. Arguably the best full-back at the

:24:45. > :24:57.South American youth championships earlier this year.

:24:58. > :25:05.Clarke-Salter's throw. England settling well, playing with

:25:06. > :25:10.confidence, and Venezuela playing as they have done all tournament. They

:25:11. > :25:18.are lively. And in some ways pretty unpredictable. And as other teams

:25:19. > :25:22.have found out, they can hurt you. One factor will be if this goes the

:25:23. > :25:29.distance. Venezuela have gone to extra time in all three of their

:25:30. > :25:35.neck out times -- knockout games so far. Solanke! The hit that clearly

:25:36. > :25:38.towards goal but not cleanly enough. No, but England are playing in the

:25:39. > :25:42.right way. I have been quite impressed so far. They are looking

:25:43. > :25:44.to get the ball forward when they can and create opportunities. They

:25:45. > :25:51.haven't really tested the goalkeeper as yet. That scuffed shot earlier on

:25:52. > :25:58.from Solanke when he just missed it, going well wide. They are playing in

:25:59. > :26:03.the right manner, trying to do the right things, and that is really

:26:04. > :26:06.important at this age. They are showing a lot of confidence. This is

:26:07. > :26:07.still a World Cup final for them and they are not showing any nerves at

:26:08. > :26:35.present. Freddie Woodman comes to catch and

:26:36. > :26:39.very cleanly taken. One of the few who have made the journey up from

:26:40. > :26:44.being part of the team that won the under 17 European Championships

:26:45. > :26:54.three years ago. This is a group that has stuck together, by and

:26:55. > :27:01.large, with a few dips in and out. Continuity being seen as a crucial

:27:02. > :27:04.part of their development. But the biggest part, the next stage of

:27:05. > :27:13.their development, is playing senior football that matters. Forget about

:27:14. > :27:19.playing U21s, and 23s for your club. These players need to start playing

:27:20. > :27:24.first team football. Saturday afternoon, whatever it may be, but

:27:25. > :27:27.they need to play for three points competitively and learned that side

:27:28. > :27:32.of the game. We were discussing that pre-kick-off and working out how

:27:33. > :27:36.many of these England players will get regular game time next season. A

:27:37. > :27:41.bit of a struggle. Lewis Cook at Bournemouth could be well placed and

:27:42. > :27:46.a couple of the Everton boys, but otherwise you could expect these

:27:47. > :27:51.players on loan at a championship ground near you next season. And it

:27:52. > :27:56.is absolutely vital. This age group of 19 to 23, we know there is a huge

:27:57. > :28:00.blockage in that pathway. When you look at the likes of players at

:28:01. > :28:07.Ajax, the amount of games those young players of this sort of age

:28:08. > :28:11.have played is exceptional. Calvert-Lewin, trying to put it

:28:12. > :28:14.across towards Kieran Dowell, but relatively comfortable for Farinez

:28:15. > :28:28.to put out. Good strength displayed by Sergio

:28:29. > :29:03.Cordova. Away by to that not cleanly. -- away

:29:04. > :29:11.by to Tomori but not cleanly. And then did well to get plenty of power

:29:12. > :29:14.in that short backlift. He had to lean back slightly. Freddie Woodman

:29:15. > :29:22.watched it fly over the bar quite comfortably. A healthy contingent of

:29:23. > :29:34.England supporters here, as there always is whenever England place

:29:35. > :29:41.anywhere in the globe. In Suwon this evening. A few jetted out when

:29:42. > :29:44.England got this far. Without a doubt. I am sure most of these

:29:45. > :29:50.people will have family and friends out there. It is a World Cup final.

:29:51. > :29:55.It is not very often England, if ever, make it to a World Cup final!

:29:56. > :30:01.This is hugely important for us so far. Just to make that point, not in

:30:02. > :30:08.any Fifa organise World Cup finals and is a big one of 1966. It is

:30:09. > :30:31.hugely important and a proud moment for these young players.

:30:32. > :30:38.Not on the Fifa scale but, Danny, I was going to ask why you have not

:30:39. > :30:44.been in Thailand? It might have missed your attention but an England

:30:45. > :30:47.senior side won the seniors cup, they beat Iran in the final. I

:30:48. > :30:55.thought she would have been playing in that. Not old enough. Yes you

:30:56. > :31:01.are! Not good enough, maybe that is what it is. The other U20 side won

:31:02. > :31:05.the two lob tournament in the south of France yesterday, England's women

:31:06. > :31:10.won their friendly in Switzerland, just the senior side not beating

:31:11. > :31:15.Scotland, the only ones not successful this weekend so far. They

:31:16. > :31:23.did not get beat. The character they showed, it could have collapsed. It

:31:24. > :31:28.would have been easy just to accept defeat but they didn't. They showed

:31:29. > :31:33.a lot of character to keep going. Harry Kane, one chance, a great

:31:34. > :31:39.finish. Sometimes you can't win every single game but it is vitally

:31:40. > :31:46.important not to lose. Something that supporters sometimes do not

:31:47. > :31:52.understand. England have been average for some time. You listen to

:31:53. > :31:58.lots of people talking about it and reporting and they say, it is

:31:59. > :32:06.typical England. If it is typical, why are we surprised?

:32:07. > :32:10.Lookman got his shot away. Well saved by Farinez. Lookman was under

:32:11. > :32:15.pressure from Yangel Herrera, did well to hit it as well as he did.

:32:16. > :32:20.Showed really good strength, held off the first challenge. I thought

:32:21. > :32:25.he might be tempted to go down. Caught it really sweetly, just a

:32:26. > :32:26.little bit too close to the goalkeeper but good strength, pace

:32:27. > :32:40.and power. A chance, it was not taken by

:32:41. > :32:47.Calvert-Lewin. Seem to snatch at it, it was a little bit worried. His

:32:48. > :32:53.eyes lit up. Lookman, a really sweet straight, it just bounced up nicely

:32:54. > :33:00.for him. Calvert-Lewin, I think he saw the headlines, goal in a World

:33:01. > :33:07.Cup final. Just snatched from him. Kabasele grew up on the same

:33:08. > :33:09.Sheffield estate is Jamie Vardy. -- he grew up on the same Sheffield

:33:10. > :33:36.estate is Jamie Vardy. The referee seems in quite

:33:37. > :33:45.authoritative moods today. One of the more experienced officials on

:33:46. > :33:52.the world stage. That fact about him, he co-owns a supermarket and

:33:53. > :33:58.hair salon! And effort on goal, it beat Woodman. What a strike that

:33:59. > :34:01.was, it caught everybody out. At first glance, I think Freddie

:34:02. > :34:06.Woodman might have got his fingertips to that. It was an

:34:07. > :34:09.awfully long way out, caught everybody by surprise. England very,

:34:10. > :34:19.very fortunate to get away with that. What a connection from Ronaldo

:34:20. > :34:25.Lucena. Maybe not quite. He was beaten. I

:34:26. > :34:31.think he will argue he had it covered, as goalkeepers do, but what

:34:32. > :34:36.a strike. 40 yards out, absolutely brilliant strike bending both ways.

:34:37. > :34:38.It is one of those you hardly bothered to get a wall organised

:34:39. > :34:42.for. I don't think you do, at that

:34:43. > :34:49.distance. Goalkeepers and walls and free kicks. A huge amount of talk

:34:50. > :34:58.after last night. But I don't think anybody expected him to shoot.

:34:59. > :35:07.Venezuela have found some confidence. I like the way they go

:35:08. > :35:15.about things, a freedom about their play. For both teams, it is sharp

:35:16. > :35:18.and crisp. Nobody is dwelling on the ball. People are looking for

:35:19. > :35:26.opportunities. An important five minutes now for England to settle

:35:27. > :35:30.down after that shot hit the post, they looks panicky for a couple of

:35:31. > :35:55.minutes after that. A shoot on sight policy! Chacon went

:35:56. > :36:00.to the goal. This is the free kick again. / incredibly well. A short

:36:01. > :36:11.follow-through, gets that movement and the dip. -- it was/ incredibly

:36:12. > :36:14.well. Freddie Woodman will be incredibly delighted when he heard

:36:15. > :36:52.that hit the post. We have seen the exciting aspect of

:36:53. > :36:56.Venezuela's attacking play. They have yet to concede from open play

:36:57. > :37:01.in 90 minutes of games that this tournament. It is already

:37:02. > :37:07.established that they have an athletic goalkeeper and a solid back

:37:08. > :37:10.four. They are carrying the hopes of a

:37:11. > :37:16.country wracked by conflict at the moment. Horrible problems in

:37:17. > :37:20.Venezuela over the last two months. It has affected those players here

:37:21. > :37:25.and the coach, Rafael Dudamel. He could not hold back the tears, never

:37:26. > :37:32.mind after, during the penalty shoot out in the semifinal.

:37:33. > :37:42.Walker-Peters and Ronald Hernandez, Hernandez came off hurting more.

:37:43. > :37:47.Coach Dudamel is instructing England to hold on with the throw.

:37:48. > :37:52.Completely accidental, just a clash of heads. Both players going for the

:37:53. > :37:58.ball. Hernandez got there just a fraction early. I think is

:37:59. > :38:06.Venezuelan team are quite tough. They don't mind scrapping it out.

:38:07. > :38:10.Talking of conflict, police were called to their hotel last night,

:38:11. > :38:15.the afternoon in UK time, there was a row between Uruguay's players and

:38:16. > :38:19.Venezuela's following the stormy semifinal. It broke into an all-out

:38:20. > :38:23.fight. Fifa have confirmed it is an altercation. Not too many bearing

:38:24. > :38:56.scores this morning. William Velazquez was a little bit

:38:57. > :38:56.uncertain. It will be an England throw, credit Jonjoe Kenny for

:38:57. > :39:27.making up the ground. Lookman felt he was impeded by

:39:28. > :39:59.Hernandez, the referee thought differently.

:40:00. > :40:17.The free kick has gone England's way, much to the astonishment of

:40:18. > :40:21.Velazquez. Dell gets the free kick. -- Kieran Dowell gets the free kick.

:40:22. > :40:27.I was surprised about, I thought he had arrived later than Velazquez. I

:40:28. > :40:48.expected the free kick to go the other way.

:40:49. > :40:56.Then as well are trying to get Pena to use his power, he is doing about

:40:57. > :41:10.-- Venezuela are trying to get Pena to use his power.

:41:11. > :41:16.I just wonder if Solanke had been more positive and braver going to

:41:17. > :41:18.challenge the goalkeeper, he might have been able to nip the ball in

:41:19. > :41:32.front of him. Just over 31 minutes gone. England

:41:33. > :41:54.have a corner. Just long downfield. Do you see, it

:41:55. > :41:58.is almost like he saw the goalkeeper coming and just pulled out a little

:41:59. > :42:10.bit. Sometimes you want your centre forward to challenge the goalkeeper.

:42:11. > :42:16.Header on goal, without sufficient power, from Calvert-Lewin. Back to

:42:17. > :42:19.the earlier one, it is a situation we do not see often, the striker had

:42:20. > :42:28.the height advantage on the goalkeeper. Farinez is only five

:42:29. > :42:49.foot nine. He has his hands, of course!

:42:50. > :42:54.In my experience of watching England, Farinez will have an

:42:55. > :43:14.absolutely world beating day in goal today.

:43:15. > :43:26.Real Madrid had had interest in him is a very young teenager, they will

:43:27. > :43:46.still be monitoring them. -- they will still be monitoring him.

:43:47. > :43:56.Another one goes to England, Kieran Dowell involved again. Again, I

:43:57. > :44:05.might have thought that would have possibly gone the other way. I

:44:06. > :44:15.suppose it is 50/ 50. England have the benefit of the doubt on a couple

:44:16. > :44:27.of occasions. The chump with Finney raised caught the referee's

:44:28. > :44:33.attention. -- the jump with the knee race. Calvert-Lewin is took a second

:44:34. > :44:40.chance, England have taken the lead! Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin with

:44:41. > :44:48.a goal that maybe just puts England on the way to becoming world

:44:49. > :44:53.champions at this level. Great persistence from Calvert-Lewin

:44:54. > :44:56.in the end. First chance, a really good save from the goalkeeper. The

:44:57. > :45:00.goalkeeper was a little bit unfortunate that it rebounded

:45:01. > :45:09.straight back to the centre forward, who got a second bite at the cherry.

:45:10. > :45:14.Clearly onside. That is a really good save. Unfortunately for the

:45:15. > :45:20.goalkeeper, he can't quite make the rebound. Great persistence. He does

:45:21. > :45:26.not show disappointment, he goes after his own rebound and slots it

:45:27. > :45:32.in the bottom corner. Whatever age group, that is a goal in a World Cup

:45:33. > :45:45.final. Right foot, left foot, finished. Venezuelan Mill, England

:45:46. > :45:50.one. -- Venezuela nil. Calvert-Lewin 's has his second goal in the

:45:51. > :45:55.competition. He is only the third ever English player to score a goal

:45:56. > :45:58.in a World Cup final! Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the same breath as

:45:59. > :46:22.Sir Geoff Hurst. Solanke, turned away by Hernandez.

:46:23. > :46:28.England are pushing now. When Venezuela hits the post from that

:46:29. > :46:32.outrageous great free kick, I think England have dominated since that,

:46:33. > :46:36.especially possession, up until now. I think they have controlled the

:46:37. > :46:42.majority of the game and created better chances. They thoroughly

:46:43. > :46:52.deserved the lead. Walker-Peters was trying to bustle through.

:46:53. > :47:04.Dominic Calvert-Lewin was checking whether he would be on site or not.

:47:05. > :47:08.-- onside. Is simple free kick picked up, great persistence by

:47:09. > :47:12.Calvert-Lewin. Challenges the first header, goes after the knock-down,

:47:13. > :47:16.does not get disappointed when the goalkeeper saves the first, he is

:47:17. > :47:22.bright and sharp enough to go after his own rebound and slotted in the

:47:23. > :47:29.bottom corner. Should the centre-back have done better against

:47:30. > :47:34.that first ball? Yes, if you cannot win because of a height disadvantage

:47:35. > :47:37.you have to block him, be strong, get your arms out. You are not even

:47:38. > :47:41.allowed to run into the penalty area. But you have to give the

:47:42. > :47:49.Englishman a lot of credit for that persistence. Before that goal he

:47:50. > :47:55.scored against Argentina in the group stage, the opening game. The

:47:56. > :47:58.goal that had been watched by more people would have been the one in

:47:59. > :48:03.the Premier League against Hull City in March. This one with the Three

:48:04. > :48:21.Lions on his shirt. I hope England now just continue to

:48:22. > :48:26.play in the same way they have done until now. They have been very, very

:48:27. > :48:31.positive, they have looked to get the ball forward with quality and

:48:32. > :48:36.get it forward early. I don't want them to sit back and just think

:48:37. > :48:37.let's protect this lead. Carry on doing what has been successful up

:48:38. > :48:52.until now. Whenever Lookman gets the ball at

:48:53. > :48:58.his feet, he runs with it. He has abundance of pace and power and also

:48:59. > :49:05.was probably the most experienced player in this side. He has played

:49:06. > :49:10.in the Championship, in the Premier League, against ferocious opponents

:49:11. > :49:16.for a player of his age. He played close to 50 games for Charlton

:49:17. > :49:19.before moving to Everton. Going for gold from distance seems

:49:20. > :49:25.to be a Venezuelan trade, something that he likes to do. It seems like

:49:26. > :49:29.they will go with if we have enough shots from distance, one will fly

:49:30. > :49:37.in. They were very unlucky with the free kick earlier. It is speculative

:49:38. > :49:43.from that sort of range. It is to be an absolute worldie. Watford fans

:49:44. > :49:48.have been watching with interest, he has not played for Watford yet, he

:49:49. > :49:53.has been on loan to Granada the seasons before last and at Udinese

:49:54. > :50:23.and Malaga this season and barely had any game time with them.

:50:24. > :50:33.Lookman pokes fun through to Calvert-Lewin. Good goalkeeping from

:50:34. > :50:36.Farinez. Excellent goalkeeping, really sharp, click off his line but

:50:37. > :50:44.another really good move from England. Slick, one, two touch

:50:45. > :50:47.passing, looking to play the ball forward at every opportunity. Very

:50:48. > :51:03.unlucky to create another goal-scoring chance.

:51:04. > :51:12.There is a vacancy at left footed centre-back on Chelsea's books now!

:51:13. > :51:29.But this season might be one too soon for Clarke-Salter.

:51:30. > :51:36.Venezuela get the decision this time, and in a very useful position.

:51:37. > :51:45.England defending free kicks from this range, we have heard that this

:51:46. > :51:52.weekend and Cena twice. -- seen it twice. This is a lot closer, well

:51:53. > :51:53.within shooting distance. It becomes very clear, you will wait for my

:51:54. > :52:09.whistle. Joe Hart could barely see past the

:52:10. > :52:22.wall yesterday, Freddie Woodman should get a good view today. Lucena

:52:23. > :52:35.will leave the shots De Pena Rand air. -- the to Adalberto Penaranda.

:52:36. > :52:43.Woodman must have had his bearing spot-on, my heart was in my mouth.

:52:44. > :52:52.I think he certainly would have had a sharp intake of breath. Inches

:52:53. > :53:00.wide, really good quality. This is the chance to Calvert-Lewin, really

:53:01. > :53:04.good goalkeeping denied England. Just two and a half minutes plus

:53:05. > :53:04.whatever is added on until half-time. Venezuela have been

:53:05. > :53:21.buoyed by their free kick effort. Ferraresi got across that one well.

:53:22. > :53:22.Handball appeals from Paul Simpson. His appeal is upheld, England free

:53:23. > :53:51.kick. Walker-Peters gets everything on his

:53:52. > :53:56.right foot, he is more of a right back than a left-back everyday use.

:53:57. > :54:18.-- in everyday use. This will be the first time the

:54:19. > :54:22.tournament, unless they can do something in the next minute and a

:54:23. > :54:31.bit, that Venezuela have gone in at half-time as the team behind.

:54:32. > :54:35.England were very strong in the second half of their semifinal

:54:36. > :54:41.against Italy, they were a goal behind at the break but hit back

:54:42. > :54:45.with two from Dominic Solanke and one from Ademola Lookman. It was a

:54:46. > :55:20.terrific second 45 minutes in the semifinal.

:55:21. > :55:34.England goal kick. Let's look at the Penaranda free

:55:35. > :55:42.kick, he got too much bend on it. He has scored twice in the tournament,

:55:43. > :55:47.including against the USA in the quarterfinal win. They needed extra

:55:48. > :56:10.time for that, they needed penalties in the semifinal against Uruguay.

:56:11. > :56:18.Velazquez comes up to assist Jose Hernandez. Kenny was not about to

:56:19. > :56:33.leave him alone. That was the last action of the

:56:34. > :56:41.first half, a first half that is England's. Venezuela rattled the

:56:42. > :56:45.post from some range courtesy of Lucena, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin

:56:46. > :56:49.found a way in at the other end. His second goal of the tournament is the

:56:50. > :56:59.only goal of the U20 World Cup finals so far. England are halfway

:57:00. > :57:04.there. At the break and South Korea, it is Venezuela nil, England one.

:57:05. > :57:08.By the magic of television, Danny Mills is now back in the studio. How

:57:09. > :57:12.does that work?! Away from the commentary box and back in the

:57:13. > :57:17.studio alongside Trevor Sinclair. We will let Danny get his breath back,

:57:18. > :57:22.he is not as fit as he was! That was very enjoyable, not bucketloads of

:57:23. > :57:26.chances but very enjoyable. Great watch, some technical players giving

:57:27. > :57:40.it all, as you would expect in a cup final. I have been really impressed.

:57:41. > :57:42.Spatial awareness is good, great confidence, no fear. We were talking

:57:43. > :57:46.of air, a couple of years down the line they might get fear, but if you

:57:47. > :57:48.could keep this and bottle it hit is priceless. There has been a freedom,

:57:49. > :57:53.I suppose, both teams, but from an England perspective, they have both

:57:54. > :57:57.gone for it. That is not often the case in cup finals. There was a lot

:57:58. > :58:01.of confidence. Lots of these players are big characters that their clubs,

:58:02. > :58:05.they have a lot of confidence, they are playing the right way. They will

:58:06. > :58:10.make mistakes because they are young, it is what happens with young

:58:11. > :58:19.players, but they are trying to do the right things, trying to play in

:58:20. > :58:22.the right way. I use the example of Ajax several times, they are very,

:58:23. > :58:24.very similar. As long as they do that, show progression and try to do

:58:25. > :58:28.the right thing, you will accept mistakes. They look like they are

:58:29. > :58:33.enjoying it, they have smiles on their faces, that is brilliant as a

:58:34. > :58:37.footballer. We will see the goal in a second, but talking about smiling

:58:38. > :58:42.and not fearing mistakes, is it easier to have that mentality when

:58:43. > :58:49.you are your peers rather than, say, going into a first-team amongst

:58:50. > :58:54.experienced players? I think I said in commentary, the next level for

:58:55. > :58:58.these players is to step into senior football on a regular basis when it

:58:59. > :59:02.matters for three points, four people's livelihoods, not just

:59:03. > :59:07.players but people behind-the-scenes, ground staff...

:59:08. > :59:11.The crowd. That is the next level. They have ability and confidence but

:59:12. > :59:17.now they have to find a club where they can play regularly for what it

:59:18. > :59:20.matters. That is what it is about, experiences and being comfortably

:59:21. > :59:25.uncomfortable. These lads are playing, lots of them, they have

:59:26. > :59:28.played Championship and Premier League football, this is a walk in

:59:29. > :59:32.the park, they do not feel nervous energy, they are going out and

:59:33. > :59:36.expressing themselves because they feel comfortable. As soon as they

:59:37. > :59:41.get in the Premier League or playing against men who supersede them in

:59:42. > :59:45.experience and possibly pace and strength, can you make that step up

:59:46. > :59:51.and feel comfortable? You often talk about the perfect hat-trick, a girl

:59:52. > :59:55.with your right foot, left foot and your head, Dominic Calvert-Lewin got

:59:56. > :00:00.all of those in the build-up to this one! Great technique. Lots of

:00:01. > :00:05.players would slash that over the bar, great composure at the end.

:00:06. > :00:10.Putting your head in way you could get hurt, no shrinking violet,

:00:11. > :00:16.showing his experience, can in front of goal, an excellent individual

:00:17. > :00:21.goal. Danny? He does not put his head down and think, oh, I have

:00:22. > :00:25.missed. It is a really good save from the goalkeeper, as he follows

:00:26. > :00:30.this one up, Trevor is right, great calmness under pressure. He just

:00:31. > :00:35.waits, bides his time and slotted into the corner. The fact he does

:00:36. > :00:38.not give up, keeps going and is calm under pressure is something we have

:00:39. > :00:42.not seen from too many English players lately. We hope it does not

:00:43. > :00:46.go to penalties but the England manager Paul Simpson said they have

:00:47. > :00:50.practised from the very start. The squad came together ahead of the

:00:51. > :00:56.tournament. Venezuela have practised free kicks!

:00:57. > :01:01.Two efforts on goal and disbursement of us all by surprise. Freddie

:01:02. > :01:08.Woodman in the England goal, brilliant technique. That is a great

:01:09. > :01:11.shot, on camera and on the pitch! It starts to go to the right and then

:01:12. > :01:14.it comes back to the left-hand side and it is that technique of not

:01:15. > :01:22.following all the way through. That little bit of swerve and dip. That

:01:23. > :01:32.was a foot of the centre circle. That is what you call a World Cup

:01:33. > :01:36.Willie shot! I don't think Freddie Woodman gets anywhere near this if

:01:37. > :01:41.it is in the top corner. Half a foot inside and it is in the top corner.

:01:42. > :01:44.Great technique, up and down, super effort. Now let's look at a couple

:01:45. > :01:49.of the England players who have impressed. Lipman has pulled the

:01:50. > :01:56.strings. He has got pace and power and experience. -- Lookman has

:01:57. > :02:01.pulled the strings. From the very first minute he has tried to make

:02:02. > :02:04.things happen. He has had the opportunity one-on-one, even two on

:02:05. > :02:10.one at times, and he has run at people. He takes people on and try

:02:11. > :02:12.to create chances. Last night during the England game, people were

:02:13. > :02:19.passing it sideways and playing safe. You want your creative players

:02:20. > :02:25.to take a risk. I think it is one of them that gets bottoms on seats in

:02:26. > :02:32.the stands. Players that are prepared to take on the opposition.

:02:33. > :02:36.Just a little bit overhit there, but his agility, his balance and speed,

:02:37. > :02:43.he has got the lot. We have seen him score for Everton. We have seen him

:02:44. > :02:47.with Charlton. He has got a big future. How often do we say that a

:02:48. > :02:53.big price tag weighs heavily on a player's shoulders? This is the

:02:54. > :02:54.opposite. He has decided he is a ?10 million player and he is going to go

:02:55. > :03:06.and shouted. And the man who is in the middle of

:03:07. > :03:12.midfield for England? He has been a man against boys at times. He is so

:03:13. > :03:16.strong and physical. His awareness, his passing ability. Sometimes you

:03:17. > :03:19.talk about uncomfortable situations like that, players panicked. He

:03:20. > :03:24.doesn't. He holds them off and he knows how strong he is and his end

:03:25. > :03:26.product has been superb and I am impressed with his performance. A

:03:27. > :03:30.lot of these players have played together for a long time. Lewis Cook

:03:31. > :03:34.sitting beside him, very experienced. A lot of Championship

:03:35. > :03:39.football and Premier League. He is happy to sit there and allow him to

:03:40. > :03:43.do that. These players are very well blended together as well. 11 of them

:03:44. > :03:50.played together in the under 19s tournament as well so they have that

:03:51. > :03:53.history and team spirit and they gelled together which is very

:03:54. > :03:55.important away from home. In so many senior tournaments, we get three

:03:56. > :03:59.weeks in, and we talk about them being bored and struggling and being

:04:00. > :04:02.cooped up. They have been together a long time and they are much younger

:04:03. > :04:07.so arguably they should be more frustrated. But Paul Simpson says

:04:08. > :04:11.they have not asked for a night out. They are not old enough! But they

:04:12. > :04:16.have been happy in the camp they are wrapped and they have had plenty to

:04:17. > :04:20.use them as well. And this is vital going forward for when they get to

:04:21. > :04:24.an U21 tournament and hopefully senior tournaments. They have had

:04:25. > :04:28.this experience. Germany and Spain have done it. All their top players,

:04:29. > :04:34.their World Cup winners, have played at the under 20 level, and U21, and

:04:35. > :04:38.done very well in tournaments. Trevor and I have been away for long

:04:39. > :04:43.periods of time and it does get difficult. South Korea. Credit to

:04:44. > :04:46.Paul, and not just the coaching staff, the medical team, the

:04:47. > :04:50.doctors, the chefs, they have got to make the players feel at home and

:04:51. > :04:54.comfortable and they have obviously got that right. And players on the

:04:55. > :04:57.fringes, not starting every game, they can be poison in a dressing

:04:58. > :05:05.room. Paul Simpson is dealing with them, making sure they are part of

:05:06. > :05:09.it as well. There are governing bodies in any sport. Fans on one

:05:10. > :05:13.side, seats on the other. But if you expand on that, and England have not

:05:14. > :05:18.won yet, but it has been successful tournament whether they win or not,

:05:19. > :05:22.but the FA deserve credit. Not only for the money they have put into

:05:23. > :05:25.this to allow Paul Simpson to do his work out there, but also the

:05:26. > :05:30.analytical team back here at St George's Park, providing all the

:05:31. > :05:35.analysis help that Paul Simpson needs and sending it back to South

:05:36. > :05:38.Korea. Definitely. This goes back to when Gareth Southgate was put in

:05:39. > :05:44.charge of elite performance. Five or six years ago. He said actually we

:05:45. > :05:48.are going to create a pathway for the England team. They are all at St

:05:49. > :05:52.George's Park. When these guys come here, they are not in the best hotel

:05:53. > :05:55.at St George's Park. They are lower down the food chain but they are

:05:56. > :06:00.trained in the right way. They feel part of England and they can see a

:06:01. > :06:06.pathway of going from the seven teams, the nine teams, 20, 20 ones,

:06:07. > :06:11.and hopefully into the senior side. And at the moment it looks like it

:06:12. > :06:15.is working. The proof of the pudding is when it gets to the senior side.

:06:16. > :06:26.Unfortunately last night was not as good as we hoped. The senior team

:06:27. > :06:35.drew do- to with Scotland. -- the team drew 2-2. Harry Kane equalised

:06:36. > :06:38.in injury time. What did not help Scotland's cause was that Slovenia

:06:39. > :06:42.and Slovakia both won, leaving Scotland with a lot of work to do if

:06:43. > :06:47.they are going to make the play-offs and qualify for Russia 2018. Let's

:06:48. > :06:52.get reaction from that game at Hampden Park last night. It is a

:06:53. > :07:00.huge moment for the team. The questions around this centre on

:07:01. > :07:07.character, they centre on the ability to withstand events that go

:07:08. > :07:11.against you. Yes, that is what we have got to show. We have got to be

:07:12. > :07:19.a team that is never beaten. I have seen Scotland's best ever free kick

:07:20. > :07:22.and second best ever free kick. And then to have a noise after that, I

:07:23. > :07:29.have never heard anything like that before. I looked at the players and

:07:30. > :07:32.I think it is unfair that they have got to keep coming back and taking

:07:33. > :07:38.knocks like that but they turn up and they do it. You can see his

:07:39. > :07:41.frustration when Harry Kane equalisers. If you look at Scotland

:07:42. > :07:45.first of their position in the table, because of what happened with

:07:46. > :07:48.Slovakia and Slovenia, it will be a real struggle. We needed to win that

:07:49. > :07:52.game to have any chance of making it to the World Cup and it doesn't look

:07:53. > :07:56.like it will happen, for me. They can take credit and positives from

:07:57. > :07:59.that game. Give it a good go. Griffiths had a couple of decent

:08:00. > :08:11.opportunities and he kept going like good strikers should do. He got his

:08:12. > :08:15.reward at the end with two superb free kick. There is a lot of talk

:08:16. > :08:17.about Joe Hart but a very well executed free kick, especially the

:08:18. > :08:21.second one. The first one, big area to hit and Joe Hart was nowhere near

:08:22. > :08:24.him. For the blame to be put on Joe Hart, we need to look at why the

:08:25. > :08:27.fouls were given away in the first place. Whether you think Joe Hart

:08:28. > :08:29.was to blame or not, it puts Gareth Southgate in a difficult position

:08:30. > :08:32.ahead of the fans game, the friendly on Tuesday night. You want to look

:08:33. > :08:36.at other players in a friendly and leaving Joe Hart out and bringing

:08:37. > :08:42.Jack Butland in, are you dropping Joe Hart? I think the decision was

:08:43. > :08:49.already made. Joe Hart was never going to play both games. People

:08:50. > :08:52.have questioned Gareth. Is he sharp enough to make those decisions,

:08:53. > :08:54.brave enough? He dropped Wayne Rooney instantly when he came into

:08:55. > :08:59.the job which was a massive decision. He will have already made

:09:00. > :09:03.his mind up that Jack Butland is going to play, I assume. There is no

:09:04. > :09:10.need for Joe Hart to play in that game. If Joe Hart had saved those

:09:11. > :09:15.two free kicks, they would have been world-class saves. Really good free

:09:16. > :09:18.kicks and they went in. Here and I scored one against Russia. They

:09:19. > :09:22.would have been world-class saves if he had saved them? I think so. If he

:09:23. > :09:27.had got across. If you gets a hand to it, it still might go in. They

:09:28. > :09:29.are not in the top corner but here in the top corner but Keren Dyer

:09:30. > :09:37.scored against Russia in the Euros and we said it was a brilliant the

:09:38. > :09:39.corner. Gareth Bale scored a couple and we are lauding them for

:09:40. > :09:45.brilliant free kick that when one goes against us, we think it is the

:09:46. > :09:51.keeper's fault. Gareth Bale got a very good one in the Euros. He did,

:09:52. > :09:56.but we say it is a great strike, great free kick. If Joe Hart saves

:09:57. > :09:59.both of those, they are world-class saves. Arguably the best result of

:10:00. > :10:03.the night had got lost in the discussion of England and Scotland.

:10:04. > :10:06.It is Northern Ireland against Azerbaijan, in sweltering

:10:07. > :10:12.conditions. Stuart Dallas with the goal in injury time. On Radio 5 Live

:10:13. > :10:23.they described it as smash and grab that it still got them three points!

:10:24. > :10:27.They are just behind Germany in that group on goal difference. If they

:10:28. > :10:30.hold on to second, they are in the play-offs. A massive game against

:10:31. > :10:34.the Czech Republic. That will be crucial. You don't expect them to be

:10:35. > :10:40.Germany but you do expect them to beat the other sides. That game

:10:41. > :10:45.against Czech Republic is massive. O'Neill has done a superb job with

:10:46. > :10:47.those players. And you can hear the Wales game away to Serbia with

:10:48. > :10:56.Gareth Bale suspended and out of that game on Sports Extra. Plenty of

:10:57. > :11:15.other sport coming your way on the BBC:

:11:16. > :11:23.Now back to South Korea. The second half is on the way. England are one

:11:24. > :11:27.goal to the good against Venezuela. Here is Guy Mowbray. Danny is on his

:11:28. > :11:31.way. Thank you. I look forward to seeing

:11:32. > :11:35.him and I look forward to seeing of Paul Simpson's side can complete the

:11:36. > :11:41.job in the next 45 minutes. England get the second half started. Just

:11:42. > :11:51.the position they would have wanted to be in. The first England youth

:11:52. > :11:58.side to call themselves world champions perhaps. It is to be

:11:59. > :12:08.called The World Series Championships. Nicky Butt, Alan

:12:09. > :12:15.Thompson, Steve Watson, David Unsworth, they won in the 90s and

:12:16. > :12:23.also in 1981 in Australia with the likes of Paul Alan, Kingsley, Danny

:12:24. > :12:30.Wallace. John Cook has been Sunderland's kit man for many years.

:12:31. > :12:42.The first yellow card of this year's under 20 World Cup final now. And it

:12:43. > :12:45.is Williams Velasquez for jumping into Calvert-Lewin. The

:12:46. > :12:46.centre-back's third caution of the competition. He missed the semifinal

:12:47. > :13:13.through suspension. He knows that is going well wide

:13:14. > :13:19.from Calvert-Lewin. A player who this time last year was getting

:13:20. > :13:22.ready for the summer as a young Sheffield United hopeful. A couple

:13:23. > :13:24.of months after that he was on his way to Everton. 11 Premier League

:13:25. > :13:39.appearances have followed. Solanke is soon to be on his way to

:13:40. > :13:40.Liverpool from Chelsea with the hope of getting more game time on

:13:41. > :13:49.Merseyside. Freddie Woodman, out and out. -- up

:13:50. > :14:16.and out. Penaranda just clipped. The first

:14:17. > :14:27.England yellow card is dished out now for Tomori, who has got it. And

:14:28. > :14:33.this replay shows us why. Danny Mills ankle tapped! Sorry, late to

:14:34. > :14:38.join you, there was a queue at passport control. Good flight?

:14:39. > :15:06.Perfect. Collected by Solanke. This is

:15:07. > :15:12.Calvert-Lewin. Ferraresi is all over him. He wanted the free kick. Ball

:15:13. > :15:16.in instead and Dowell couldn't go for it and just too high for so

:15:17. > :15:24.lanky. England have started the second half in the same vein. --

:15:25. > :15:28.just too high for Solanke. It is really important to come out and

:15:29. > :15:34.play in the same style. Not to sit back and decide to just protect the

:15:35. > :15:37.lead. If we get a clean sheet, we win the World Cup. Ultimately you

:15:38. > :15:42.want them to play with the same verve as the first half. Be

:15:43. > :15:49.positive, on the front foot, making the most of every opportunity that

:15:50. > :15:53.they have. The Venezuela free kick will have to move a couple of yards.

:15:54. > :16:03.They can't shoot from here. Even him. I say that! On the edge of the

:16:04. > :16:13.centre circle in the first half. The delivery again. It caused a problem.

:16:14. > :16:18.It resulted in an effort on target that was saved by Freddie Woodman.

:16:19. > :16:26.Really good delivery, pace and power. Always difficult to score

:16:27. > :16:28.from beyond 13 yards with a header. Quite comfortable for Freddie

:16:29. > :16:35.Woodman, just dropping into his hands. Herrera's header, the

:16:36. > :16:41.Manchester City man. He has played five times for New York City in the

:16:42. > :16:51.MLS, having joined Manchester at the end of January. He scored against

:16:52. > :16:59.Crewe at the end of April. Very nicely done up to a point by Tomori.

:17:00. > :17:04.Penaranda, then Lewis Cook got back on board. Brilliant tackle.

:17:05. > :17:11.Brilliant tackle from Lewis Cook. Great work from the industrious

:17:12. > :17:17.Pena. That is a fierce shot but it will never trouble Freddie Woodman.

:17:18. > :17:22.We are seeing U20s football. And again it is brilliant to see players

:17:23. > :17:27.with confidence, playing with no fear, trying to take a chance. There

:17:28. > :17:30.have been far too many long shots. They need to get a bit closer to

:17:31. > :17:38.goal to really trouble the goalkeeper. Ronaldo Chacon's long

:17:39. > :17:41.shot is the last of the game for him. And this is a really

:17:42. > :17:47.interesting player, Yeferson Soteldo. He has a knee injury, which

:17:48. > :17:50.is why he didn't start. Only five tall but considered to be the most

:17:51. > :18:03.all-round talented player in the Venezuela squad. He has already got

:18:04. > :18:11.himself a nickname, Manzanita, the little apple.

:18:12. > :18:19.Onomah dispossessed, he never really had it. And Soteldo has its first

:18:20. > :18:28.involvement. Great from Freddie Woodman. He is at the feet of

:18:29. > :18:32.Cordova. Excellent play from both sets of players. The substitute that

:18:33. > :18:37.has just come on was just magnificent. Bright, sharp,

:18:38. > :18:41.excellent through ball. Freddie Woodman was equal to that and he

:18:42. > :18:48.came out and blocked the shot. Really good goalkeeping. And right

:18:49. > :18:55.on cue, Yeferson Soteldo shows us his talents. He may be diminutive in

:18:56. > :18:59.stature, but the way he got on the ball, the sharpness, the brightness,

:19:00. > :19:02.the speed of ten, the speed of thought, and the most perfectly

:19:03. > :19:07.weighted ball through. Absolutely exceptional. We always make that

:19:08. > :19:11.excuse for senior players who have just come on, that they need time to

:19:12. > :19:17.get into the game. He was in June from the first second. -- in tune

:19:18. > :19:32.from the first second. Penaranda loses out to Onomah.

:19:33. > :19:40.Really second half. -- really lively second half.

:19:41. > :19:51.Look and took a post but not enough to constitute a foul. Penaranda, on

:19:52. > :19:56.the move. It looks as though the threat level to invent's backline

:19:57. > :20:01.has increased. Definitely with Soteldo coming on. He might be very

:20:02. > :20:05.small but he is bright and sharp. On the ball again. Just behind Cordova.

:20:06. > :20:09.Over the top by Lewis Cook. Just calling for the rest of his

:20:10. > :20:15.team-mates to up their game is a little bit. That is an outstanding

:20:16. > :20:21.pass through to his colleague. His touch may just let him down. That

:20:22. > :20:27.hesitating moment allows Freddie Woodman to come out and block the

:20:28. > :20:43.shot with his legs. Soteldo has only been on the pitch for three minutes.

:20:44. > :20:47.Outstanding. Venezuela corner. Lucena takes it. Herrera is free!

:20:48. > :20:52.Freddie Woodman saves again. England's lead at the moment looks

:20:53. > :20:56.very slim. Fortunate for Freddie Woodman that this is not right in

:20:57. > :21:02.the corner. Again it is a header from 12 yards out. Difficult to get

:21:03. > :21:08.enough power from that sort of range to really trouble the goalkeeper.

:21:09. > :21:14.Another yard to his right hand side and you might have seen the

:21:15. > :21:19.goalkeeper struggling. The game is going to open up. We are just

:21:20. > :21:24.approaching 55 minutes. Venezuela are starting to push for the

:21:25. > :21:28.equaliser. Hopefully that might create a couple more opportunities

:21:29. > :21:37.for England. Onomah wins the ball for England and set himself up to

:21:38. > :21:51.shoot. A brilliant effort! Farinez absolutely standard. GDS? Or not? I

:21:52. > :22:00.don't think we have it, do we? Very close. Absolutely brilliant strike.

:22:01. > :22:04.Right on the line. I don't know if they can use a video assistant

:22:05. > :22:11.referee in these situations, whether it is needed is they didn't think it

:22:12. > :22:17.was, but a brilliant strike. It is opening up. Soteldo is one of the

:22:18. > :22:27.main reasons for that and he breezes past Clarke-Salter. Another one

:22:28. > :22:30.fired in and blocked by Tomori. The game is really starting to open up.

:22:31. > :22:38.That substitute has made such a difference. The whole Venezuela team

:22:39. > :22:43.has been given a massive lift. Look how close Onomah was. I know what

:22:44. > :22:50.you are thinking at home, England, World Cup final, off the bar and off

:22:51. > :22:51.the line. Not this time. Penaranda. There is no Russian linesman. That

:22:52. > :23:09.is the problem! Penaranda looks to the heavens in

:23:10. > :23:18.frustration. He is the little man who is making a huge difference. 19

:23:19. > :23:21.years old, Soteldo, and he has played for the senior side four

:23:22. > :23:26.times already. I don't think Venezuela give caps. He scored three

:23:27. > :23:28.goals at the South America youth championships at the start of this

:23:29. > :23:36.year. Venezuela finished third in that. They noticed how well they

:23:37. > :23:48.were going to do here. He looks a bit like Shakira. Short, stocky,

:23:49. > :23:54.quicker and fitter. Kieran Dowell holding onto the shirt of Jose

:23:55. > :23:58.Hernandez there. England need the likes of Lewis Cook, Onomah, to get

:23:59. > :24:03.a grip of the game in midfield. Just wrestle back control of the ball.

:24:04. > :24:07.Just have a ten minute spell where they can dominate possession and

:24:08. > :24:20.calm things down. It has got frantic in the last five minutes.

:24:21. > :24:29.Seeing what they can do with a free kick. Another good one and Kieran

:24:30. > :24:40.Dowell headed it over his own crossbar. Did he? Over the top for a

:24:41. > :24:44.goal kick. See the shot again. The goalkeeper like a statue. Absolutely

:24:45. > :25:03.stranded. He can do nothing about it. Very unlucky. Not close enough

:25:04. > :25:06.maybe for a virtual replay. Onomah is not having bad luck, this is a

:25:07. > :25:10.World Cup final, but not on the right side of fortune in this

:25:11. > :25:16.tournament. He was sent off against Mexico incredibly harshly. And he

:25:17. > :25:22.had a free kick goal against him here. But that is a very good

:25:23. > :25:25.learning curve as well. To realise that this level, international

:25:26. > :25:28.football, some of these players have been playing lower down the leagues

:25:29. > :25:33.perhaps, maybe getting away with things a bit more in their club

:25:34. > :25:41.football. International football is refereed very differently. Some

:25:42. > :25:51.challenges get punished. That is a great learning experience. Looping

:25:52. > :25:58.up towards Calvert-Lewin. Herrera keeps it. We have four options and

:25:59. > :26:04.he didn't get it right. Lewis Cook with the lift. Calvert-Lewin...

:26:05. > :26:17.Calvert-Lewin does really well. And he wins the corner.

:26:18. > :26:25.Again, positive. Taking people on. The defender slips. He gets a little

:26:26. > :26:28.bit fortunate. The defender is diving in because he knows this is a

:26:29. > :26:30.huge threat and he knows that Calvert-Lewin wants to go in behind

:26:31. > :26:46.him. Swung over. Very nearly very good

:26:47. > :26:54.luck for Solanke. Away goes such Aldo. -- away goes Soteldo. How

:26:55. > :26:59.quick is he? Looking to the right. Looking to do it all himself! Swung

:27:00. > :27:08.in for Penaranda to keep the attack moving. Penaranda will always go for

:27:09. > :27:14.goal and look at Soteldo's reaction. Wrong decision in the end. Far too

:27:15. > :27:18.selfish. He should have played it into the six yard box. Difficult

:27:19. > :27:22.angle. A couple of defenders in front of him. His colleagues

:27:23. > :27:28.frustrated with him on that occasion. He knew it, didn't he? As

:27:29. > :27:32.soon as he struck it he was looking into the middle for the reaction. It

:27:33. > :27:37.has either got to go in or colleagues will be shaking their

:27:38. > :27:41.heads and pointing fingers. But this little fellow who has come on,

:27:42. > :27:42.Soteldo, he looks absolutely outstanding. Incredibly bright and

:27:43. > :27:55.sharp. The England change that we were

:27:56. > :27:58.expecting has happened a few minutes later than it did in the semifinal

:27:59. > :28:03.against Italy but it really made a difference then. No disservice to

:28:04. > :28:06.Kieran Dowell, who has done everything simply, succinctly,

:28:07. > :28:11.throughout the game, but the yellow card he got might have played a

:28:12. > :28:18.part. And Ojo of Liverpool comes on to MIDI rival. Ojo was the creator

:28:19. > :28:25.from the right wing of the first two goals that the side scored against

:28:26. > :28:28.Italy last time out. Just a little bit more attack minded than Kieran

:28:29. > :28:44.Dowell with his wing play, perhaps. Onomah, pulled at by Penaranda. The

:28:45. > :28:49.decision by the referee. He tried to allow the advantage. Onomah like he

:28:50. > :28:56.was in the first half, strong and powerful, holding players.

:28:57. > :29:17.Kenny with the free kick. Solanke, and Ferraresi gets it away. Back to

:29:18. > :29:22.Farinez. Looking for Cordova to get on the end of that. Clarke-Salter's

:29:23. > :29:32.header away. Walker-Peters pushed to the floor

:29:33. > :29:52.just outside the area. Just squeezed his way in between the

:29:53. > :29:58.two defenders and gets blocked out. A simple decision for the referee.

:29:59. > :30:03.This is a difficult position. Do you shoot from here, the corner of the

:30:04. > :30:10.18-yard box? It is almost too close to try and cross it with any real

:30:11. > :30:13.quality. It is one of those where you have just got to wickets towards

:30:14. > :30:23.the far post and if someone gets a touch, it go in. -- you have just

:30:24. > :30:30.got to whip it towards the far post and if someone gets a touch, it

:30:31. > :30:34.might go in. Lookman has gone for goal and he didn't get it across to

:30:35. > :30:39.the far post. He went for the near post in the end, much harder

:30:40. > :30:43.technically to try and execute. You need more lift over the top of the

:30:44. > :30:48.wall. It gets plenty of power but it never really troubles the

:30:49. > :30:53.goalkeeper. A decent look at the West Brom flag behind the goal which

:30:54. > :30:54.has been a permanent fixture at the England games so far courtesy of the

:30:55. > :31:06.kit man. I thought we were going to have deja

:31:07. > :31:11.vu there, Tomori has already put on past his own keeper this tournament,

:31:12. > :31:17.I thought there was going to be another one! Good hands from Freddie

:31:18. > :31:21.Woodman! I was just going to name check the kit man, Pat Frost on West

:31:22. > :31:26.Bromwich Albion. He puts that flag up everywhere.

:31:27. > :31:38.The support staff behind the scenes, the medical staff and the kit man,

:31:39. > :31:42.are vital. I had a message from the doctor with a team who says they are

:31:43. > :31:48.an outstanding bunch of young men, which is a really good to hear. I

:31:49. > :31:54.think this is the whole point of St George's Park, this is what the FA

:31:55. > :31:57.has tried to create, a new philosophy and a new mentality of

:31:58. > :32:04.what playing for England is all about. It has started to come to

:32:05. > :32:09.fruition. They have 25 minutes plus a bit more to hang on, or to make

:32:10. > :32:17.things even better in the U20 World Cup final. There seems to be more of

:32:18. > :32:21.the game now that Soteldo is on. Of course I am biased and I want

:32:22. > :32:25.England to win, but I want to see Soteldo on the ball, I want to see

:32:26. > :32:44.what he can do. He just gets you off your feet and excites you.

:32:45. > :33:02.Soteldo gave it away that time. Look at the pace of Ojo, breezing past

:33:03. > :33:07.Lucena. Try that again, Lucena was not having it so easily, but it will

:33:08. > :33:12.be corner for England. Good defending from Lucena, I think he

:33:13. > :33:17.was surprised by the pace of Ojo, having just come on, he was not

:33:18. > :33:23.prepared for that. Doggett, determined defending. -- dogged,

:33:24. > :33:44.determined. Went to the hangings want towards

:33:45. > :33:49.Clarke-Salter. Fish went to the hanging one. I hope the likes of

:33:50. > :33:55.Lewis Cook end up playing more football next season. He was Leeds

:33:56. > :34:00.young Player of the Year the season before last, before he got his move

:34:01. > :34:05.to Bournemouth. His opportunities this season have been a little bit

:34:06. > :34:10.stifled. He is a quality player with experience who needs to play week

:34:11. > :34:16.in, week out. I am sure part of that has been down to injury. The York

:34:17. > :34:26.born midfielder has looked a leader and a player in this tournament.

:34:27. > :34:38.There are racy with some important Venezuela defending, but a nasty

:34:39. > :34:47.clash of heads has resulted -- Nahuel Ferraresi with some important

:34:48. > :34:51.Venezuela defending. There is blood. But ultimately he is running around

:34:52. > :34:58.on the floor. He is not spark out cold. He just catches the back of

:34:59. > :35:02.the defender's head, it happens from time and time. The fact he is

:35:03. > :35:09.rolling around is a good sign that he has not been sparked out

:35:10. > :35:22.unconscious. The aforementioned Doctor's services are required.

:35:23. > :35:31.Dominic Solanke get the applause of all as he gets back to an upright

:35:32. > :35:35.position at least. England supporters not quite in full

:35:36. > :35:39.celebratory move yet, Freddie Woodman has been tested in the

:35:40. > :35:43.second half. They seem to be in much more of a game than in the first

:35:44. > :35:48.half, but even then it was never clear cut and away. I know you are

:35:49. > :35:52.shaking your head. It is unnecessary, it is a good game. The

:35:53. > :36:01.wave only comes when it is a poor game to watch, this is not one of

:36:02. > :36:07.those games! The good folk of the South Korean

:36:08. > :36:11.town formed the bulk of the crowd. We saw some good games in the World

:36:12. > :36:17.Cup in 2002, an average of five goals per game in the stadium.

:36:18. > :36:23.Kevin Kilbane list from the penalty spot in the Spanish win against

:36:24. > :36:26.Ireland. There seems to be an argument about

:36:27. > :36:33.whether it is a corner or goal kick. There seems to be hesitation or

:36:34. > :36:43.around in the award of it. It will be an England corner.

:36:44. > :36:51.Ojo asked a little bit too much of himself. Goal kick.

:36:52. > :36:57.Another consideration for the FA, looking at players like Ojo and

:36:58. > :37:01.Tomori. Ademola Lookman, five players in this England squad could

:37:02. > :37:08.choose at senior level to play for Nigeria. Again, I will be very

:37:09. > :37:12.biased, but if you have the opportunity to play for England,

:37:13. > :37:18.you've got to take it up. Who calls first could be the factor. You are

:37:19. > :37:27.not tied playing in competitive U20 football. But the quality of

:37:28. > :37:32.England, for me, far outweighs the chances you will have the Nigeria.

:37:33. > :37:36.OK, you might go to the African Cup of Nations and get a medal. You

:37:37. > :37:40.might win more stuff. But in terms of the competitions that really

:37:41. > :37:45.matter on the world stage, the Europeans, the World Cup, England

:37:46. > :37:49.would be your first port of call. Of course I will be by your stomach.

:37:50. > :37:55.There might be parental pressure, too.

:37:56. > :38:04.Sergio Cordova is off, the second Venezuela change. In his place is

:38:05. > :38:12.Samuel Sosa, a famous sporting name. It is not the former baseball star.

:38:13. > :38:17.Gianni Infantino, the head man at Fifa, is checking his team sheet. I

:38:18. > :38:26.am not sure he was behind him, but there was no need for that yawn

:38:27. > :38:35.excavation mug of a Sosa rescued Venezuela to make it 1-1 against

:38:36. > :38:39.Uruguay. Venezuela penalty subsequently followed. Mr Infantino

:38:40. > :38:53.is fully engaged. The referee gives a penalty of the

:38:54. > :38:57.Venezuela, Adalberto Penaranda went down. England are calling for the

:38:58. > :39:03.video assistant referee to be brought into use, they think the

:39:04. > :39:09.referee has this wrong. Instantly the referee acknowledges that he

:39:10. > :39:16.will go to the television replay. This is where it could be very, very

:39:17. > :39:20.useful and spot-on. He has to make the decision, the referee has to

:39:21. > :39:25.make the decision to allow the video assistant referee to get involved.

:39:26. > :39:34.He makes the decision, now they can review it. Very good refereeing.

:39:35. > :39:44.Freddie Woodman has just been told by the man in charge that he will

:39:45. > :39:48.get notification from the VAR team, fully fledged and establish referees

:39:49. > :39:54.themselves. The argument is that there was no contact, but there is,

:39:55. > :40:02.I think it will be a penalty. Yes, I think it is knee on penalty. Really

:40:03. > :40:10.good use of technology, exactly right.

:40:11. > :40:19.Penaranda for Venezuelan, kept out by Woodman! In again, cleared by

:40:20. > :40:24.Tomori. Freddie Woodman is England's Hiro. What a magnificent save. At

:40:25. > :40:32.1.I thought he had gone the wrong way and it would be a simple

:40:33. > :40:39.penalty, just to roll it in. But somehow manages to get an arm out

:40:40. > :40:41.and save fat, incredible save. -- manages to get an arm out and save

:40:42. > :40:56.that. Ojo held off Lucena, free kick for

:40:57. > :41:00.Venezuela. But Venezuela mess up their golden opportunity to draw

:41:01. > :41:06.level. The golden boy, Adalberto Penaranda, could not score from the

:41:07. > :41:08.spot. Trying to bring in Soteldo. Ojo is down, a little push from

:41:09. > :41:23.Hernandez. I think Ojo was stood on in that

:41:24. > :41:28.challenge. Penaranda will be gutted, but what a save from Freddie

:41:29. > :41:37.Woodman. I am sure we will see it again in a few moments. He almost

:41:38. > :41:41.dived out of the way, it was straight down the middle but he got

:41:42. > :41:49.a hand up and it is a really strong hand that he got on it to push the

:41:50. > :41:53.ball away. Before that, a perfect example of the video assistant

:41:54. > :41:57.referee, how it should be used. The referee made the decision coming he

:41:58. > :42:03.was clear in his mind that it was a penalty. He has to give the decision

:42:04. > :42:08.so that it can be referred, it just confirmed that he was right. If he

:42:09. > :42:11.had not made the decision, it was a penalty, of course, you can't go

:42:12. > :42:19.back to the video assistant referee. Solanke is patched up and back on

:42:20. > :42:24.the field, plenty of Greece. Some butterfly stitches and maybe a

:42:25. > :42:30.staple committee will be great. Maitland-Niles has come on to

:42:31. > :42:34.replace Lookman. He is another with plenty of experience from his loan

:42:35. > :42:38.spell at Ipswich the season before last. He has been on the fringe of

:42:39. > :42:44.the Arsenal team, Arsene Wenger has announced he will be in the

:42:45. > :42:55.first-team squad next season. Quick to make that announcement.

:42:56. > :43:04.Watching England, it will not be cut and dry for some time. Equally, this

:43:05. > :43:06.is a world final, two of the best teams in their age category in the

:43:07. > :43:33.world. Solanke almost tricked his way past

:43:34. > :43:37.Velazquez. England have to be careful not to be pressed back and

:43:38. > :43:44.start sitting too deep in this last 13 minutes or so. With the penalty I

:43:45. > :43:47.thought it was deja vu, in the last 16 against Costa Rica Freddie

:43:48. > :43:52.Woodman saved a late penalty but the rebound was put in, it looked like

:43:53. > :43:58.it would happen again. It was a really strong hands that he got out

:43:59. > :44:03.too late. The left hand as he dived away, just able to push it far

:44:04. > :44:13.enough away. Penaranda could not get the angle to squeeze in the rebound.

:44:14. > :44:26.Herrera got within range. But Venezuela have a deeper range than

:44:27. > :44:35.most teams, it seems. Simpson is a little more animated down there now.

:44:36. > :44:40.This is a real crucial learning time for these young players. They are

:44:41. > :44:45.under a little bit of pressure, 1-0 up, Venezuela will push and push and

:44:46. > :44:50.push. They will try to really bombard the England goal. How do

:44:51. > :44:54.they deal with it? This is about to gain management. What a fantastic

:44:55. > :45:03.opportunity for these players to learn. -- this is about game

:45:04. > :45:13.management. That was awkward for Solanke,

:45:14. > :45:29.Maitland-Niles came in to help. A thrilling ending to the U20 World

:45:30. > :45:49.Cup final. P was teed up for something

:45:50. > :45:57.glorious. -- Pena was teed up. Here is the penalty. That is a really

:45:58. > :46:01.strong hand. Does incredibly well. Effectively going the wrong way,

:46:02. > :46:07.gets his hand up. He does not just stop it, he has enough power and

:46:08. > :46:12.strength to push it away to safety. Freddie Woodman, son of Andy Woodman

:46:13. > :46:24.and God so loved the England manager Gareth Southgate. -- and Godson of

:46:25. > :46:28.the England manager. I would have loved to have seen his dad's face as

:46:29. > :46:34.he made that face, he would have been jumping for joy. Farinez is a

:46:35. > :46:49.very good goalkeeper at the other end. Without doubt there are an

:46:50. > :46:53.awful lot of good players on show. Hernandez felt he was unfairly

:46:54. > :47:03.launch from his feet by Ojo, the referee did not. Cook wings tonne

:47:04. > :47:09.wins England a throw in and, perhaps more importantly, a little bit of

:47:10. > :47:15.time. -- Cook wins England throw in. They had to calm it down, slow down

:47:16. > :47:20.the game, get control, getting a few passes, don't keep giving the ball

:47:21. > :47:25.away and alarming Venezuela to attack, wave after wave. -- and

:47:26. > :47:46.alarming Venezuela to attack. Maitland-Niles is that for England.

:47:47. > :47:54.The drug back was maybe not what was required, but Pena worked hard to

:47:55. > :47:57.keep it for Venezuela and get them a free kick. Take away the fact that

:47:58. > :48:02.it is a World Cup final, there are not too many of these England

:48:03. > :48:08.players that have been in this situation, 1-0 up, ten minutes to

:48:09. > :48:13.go, and it really matters. U21, and 23 football, you concede a goal and

:48:14. > :48:22.move onto the next one. They are very inexperienced at this level.

:48:23. > :48:23.Whatever happens, and we hope they hold on, this is invaluable

:48:24. > :49:08.experience. Lucena with a free kick. Penaranda Bob the football that his

:49:09. > :49:13.feet. -- loathes the football at his feet. It has been brilliant to

:49:14. > :49:15.watch, both players have had confidence, ability, no fear. They

:49:16. > :49:25.have tried to showcase what they are good at.

:49:26. > :49:46.Soteldo twisted himself inside out, in the end.

:49:47. > :49:53.Did really well to hold off the defenders and get into a decent

:49:54. > :49:57.position. He just got a bit overexcited. He should have just

:49:58. > :50:02.slid in his team-mate down the right-hand side.

:50:03. > :50:12.Dominic Calvert-Lewin has that striker's build. He is the man whose

:50:13. > :50:16.goal, as things stand, has won the U20 World Cup for England. But as

:50:17. > :50:21.Danny pointed out earlier, if it stays like that, it is not senior

:50:22. > :50:27.level, but it is a World Cup final, it is Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters

:50:28. > :50:35.territory. U20s or not, no one else has managed to do it in that time!

:50:36. > :50:37.We are not counting the scorers in the seniors event in Thailand last

:50:38. > :50:58.night, 2-0 England. In from Lucena, just too high, or

:50:59. > :51:06.maybe a racy -- Nahuel Ferraresi just mistimed his jump.

:51:07. > :51:17.He is having to sit down for his own health, I think, Ross failed

:51:18. > :51:23.Dudamel. -- Rafael Dudamel. His team is just a little bit longer than the

:51:24. > :51:30.England team. -- little bit younger than. In terms of development for

:51:31. > :51:34.both sides, whoever goes on to win and whoever loses, it has been a

:51:35. > :51:42.really good performance from both teams. Hopefully we can see in this

:51:43. > :51:47.group of players 22, 25, 26 players... There are some real stars

:51:48. > :52:03.of the future. A little bit of fortune, but worked

:52:04. > :52:08.through to Solanke. The Vantage played by the referee. -- add

:52:09. > :52:24.Vantage played by the referee. A bold, straightening run brought to

:52:25. > :53:02.an end by Onomah. Can England's young Lions show that

:53:03. > :53:09.they have the wherewithal to see it out?

:53:10. > :53:24.Free kick Venezuela. It went too early and they did not know how to

:53:25. > :53:30.get back onside in time. Just over three minutes of the 90 to go, that

:53:31. > :53:32.is how close England are. 12-macro England players starting to look a

:53:33. > :53:51.little bit weary. Freddie Woodman will take as long as

:53:52. > :53:59.he dares with the goal kick for England. These are U20 players, we

:54:00. > :54:05.do not want the cynical old pro views yet! With two and a half

:54:06. > :54:08.minutes to go, as the Scotland team last night, it is all about winning.

:54:09. > :54:25.Yes, and they are almost there. Solanke and Velazquez both hit the

:54:26. > :54:30.deck. It will be a corner, that will suit England fine. This is not about

:54:31. > :54:35.being cynical, it is just keeping the ball in the corner. Game

:54:36. > :54:39.management, learn your trade, be professional. See the game out. Not

:54:40. > :54:44.too many of these players have been in this type of situation before.

:54:45. > :54:49.World Cup or not, it is a competitive game that actually means

:54:50. > :54:55.something. It means everything for this group of players, some have for

:54:56. > :55:00.whom -- some of whom have been together since the under 15 IS. They

:55:01. > :55:05.are just a couple of minutes away from being world champions at the

:55:06. > :55:10.U20 level. What a job Paul Simpson has done of organising them, getting

:55:11. > :55:40.them just right, getting them tournament ready.

:55:41. > :55:47.Penaranda shaped as if to shoot but that was not ready for the return

:55:48. > :55:48.pass. Venezuela will understandably do everything as quickly as they can

:55:49. > :55:59.now. Onomah with a really good tackle to

:56:00. > :56:05.win the ball, Calvert-Lewin trying to get a full stride. An excellent

:56:06. > :56:12.challenge, Lucena with some superb midfield play.

:56:13. > :56:20.A frantic finale to the U20 cup final. A big deflection, Woodman had

:56:21. > :56:24.to make absolutely sure it went wide. England have a corner to

:56:25. > :56:33.defend. The game moves into added time. Four

:56:34. > :56:54.minutes. Farinez, the Venezuelan goalkeeper,

:56:55. > :57:02.has moved forward. You might get a shot on goal! Farinez goes on! You

:57:03. > :57:06.used to play as a striker but he did not strike that particularly

:57:07. > :57:09.cleanly. He has scored a penalty at this level against Vanuatu is

:57:10. > :57:18.Venezuela put seven pass them in the group stage quite a few games ago.

:57:19. > :57:22.That was so awkward from Jake Clarke-Salter, got his feet in a

:57:23. > :57:28.mess. I think it was going wide anyway but Woodman had to make sure.

:57:29. > :57:31.I know there will be plenty of you watching the clock in the top left

:57:32. > :57:41.as much as you are watching what the ball is doing. One minute of four

:57:42. > :57:57.gone. Free kick to Venezuela. Ojo's foul.

:57:58. > :58:06.Soteldo seems to get in a mix-up in terms of communication with Herrera.

:58:07. > :58:15.Maitland-Niles back to his feet impressively. He tried to beat

:58:16. > :58:21.Farinez. Farinez in a real hurry to get it down the other end again.

:58:22. > :58:25.Calvert-Lewin is having a go now. Maybe not the wisest course of

:58:26. > :58:34.action for England. If they keep the ball, they win the World Cup.

:58:35. > :58:42.Out came Woodman, to have it and to hold it. He was caught by Pena, it

:58:43. > :58:46.might have been his own team-mate, Tomori, who clattered into him. Free

:58:47. > :58:51.kick for England which has just upset some of the Venezuelan

:58:52. > :58:58.supporters in the crowd. This is not a tactic, Freddie Woodman is

:58:59. > :59:04.genuinely hurt. It is Tomori who made contact with him, as Woodman

:59:05. > :59:05.made sure he had the ball safely in his clutches. This time will be

:59:06. > :59:16.added on. If you have not been with us to

:59:17. > :59:20.capture the whole drama of the U20 World Cup final, England took the

:59:21. > :59:26.lead in the 35th minute through Everton forward Dominic

:59:27. > :59:32.Calvert-Lewin. In the second half, Venezuela have hits back with a

:59:33. > :59:35.little bit more. The player on the books of Watford, Adalberto

:59:36. > :59:39.Penaranda, he has just been replaced. He had the chance to

:59:40. > :59:51.level, his penalty brilliantly saved by the strong left hand of Woodman.

:59:52. > :00:00.On four Venezuela has come Jan Carlos Hurtado, who was only 17 in

:00:01. > :00:03.early March. Farinez was trying to join in when he went forward for a

:00:04. > :00:05.corner a few minutes ago. He normally hits them a lot better than

:00:06. > :00:18.that. Freddie Woodman will grab the

:00:19. > :00:21.headlines. Farinez is generally considered to be the keeper of the

:00:22. > :00:25.tournament but Freddie Woodman might have stolen that accolade today.

:00:26. > :00:29.Never mind the fact that it says four, I think we will be going into

:00:30. > :00:40.six minutes of injury time in with at least a two minute delay here. It

:00:41. > :00:41.is as you were for England. A couple of minutes away from becoming under

:00:42. > :00:57.20 world champions. Paul Simpson was born on the 26th of

:00:58. > :00:58.July, 1966, the head coach for England, four days before you know

:00:59. > :01:18.what. Freddie Woodman up and away. Solanke

:01:19. > :01:19.onto it. He will keep it in the corner for as long as they possibly

:01:20. > :01:36.can. Under pressure from Velasquez. The ball did just clipped off Jose

:01:37. > :01:42.Hernandez, hence the England corner. You can see the time has been

:01:43. > :01:50.adjusted to say six minutes added on and it initially said four.

:01:51. > :01:57.Calvert-Lewin. Just a minute or so away from being the man who got the

:01:58. > :02:07.goal that won it. Herrera. Maybe one last Venezuela chants. Samuel Sosa

:02:08. > :02:15.goes on. Super tracking for Maitland-Niles. They come forward

:02:16. > :02:32.again. This is just about it. Ronaldo Lucena's Seppi delivery has

:02:33. > :02:39.been superb throughout the tournament. -- set piece delivery.

:02:40. > :02:46.In comes another one. Herrera tried to bring it down. Farinez is beaten

:02:47. > :02:56.and Venezuela RB10 and England have won the U20s World Cup! -- Venezuela

:02:57. > :03:02.is beaten. What an achievement for Paul Simpson and this group of

:03:03. > :03:10.players. Calvert-Lewin's goal and Freddie Woodman's penalty save are

:03:11. > :03:16.key moments in 2017. What building blocks might be in place now for

:03:17. > :03:22.England's football future? Words of thanks are offered up. Celebrations

:03:23. > :03:30.on the field that will continue all that long flight home. The journey

:03:31. > :03:33.goes on for this group of players. Freddie Woodman is understandably

:03:34. > :03:37.mobbed by his team-mates for the huge party has played not just today

:03:38. > :03:41.but all tournament long. There are words of consolation for the

:03:42. > :03:43.Venezuela players as well. Their achievement should not be

:03:44. > :03:48.understated. They have been brilliant all the way through to the

:03:49. > :03:52.final but the final has been won by England. It might not be a senior

:03:53. > :03:55.World Cup but how good does this sound? Venezuela zero, England one,

:03:56. > :04:12.and England are world champions! Good lads! The captain is with the

:04:13. > :04:15.players at the moment. Dominic Calvert-Lewin got the winner. How

:04:16. > :04:21.good is this, Trevor? So good. To win the World Cup at such a young

:04:22. > :04:25.age, you look at the contrast in the emotions with the Venezuela players,

:04:26. > :04:27.you can see how much it means. Brilliant from the players and the

:04:28. > :04:31.England squad and I thought they played well and deserved to win.

:04:32. > :04:34.They are getting ready for what I am told is one of the longest

:04:35. > :04:39.presentation ceremonies ever invented. There is a golden boot,

:04:40. > :04:42.silver boot and a bronze boot to award! The trophy presentation

:04:43. > :04:47.itself could be in about 20 minutes, we are doing that on the red button

:04:48. > :04:51.for you. We have the triathlon coming up from Leeds. That will be

:04:52. > :04:56.on the red button when we come off air on BBC Two. As far as the bigger

:04:57. > :04:59.picture is concerned, Danny Mills. I wouldn't mind more under 20

:05:00. > :05:05.internationals on Sunday mornings to talk about because that was great!

:05:06. > :05:08.Brilliant game to watch. Both teams playing with confidence, with

:05:09. > :05:14.expression, having a go, really wanting to win the game. Just a

:05:15. > :05:18.really good game to watch. Chances, in the second half, Venezuela had to

:05:19. > :05:23.try and get back into it. But what a great building block. And so much

:05:24. > :05:28.spirit. You didn't see any rolling around, no acting, no wasting time.

:05:29. > :05:31.I thought it was a brilliant performance from the players. They

:05:32. > :05:36.really deserve a good pat on the back. Have a look at the penalty

:05:37. > :05:46.incident. It was given by the referee and then confirmed by the

:05:47. > :05:49.video assistant referee. Clarke-Salter with the challenge.

:05:50. > :05:54.The referee gave it. And as you can see, he goes to the big screen. In

:05:55. > :06:00.some ways it stops the arguing with the referee, surrounding him. In all

:06:01. > :06:04.it took 38 seconds. I think that he has refereed this game exceptionally

:06:05. > :06:08.well. With authority. He believes it is a penalty. He has got to blow the

:06:09. > :06:15.whistle. And instantly he said he will check. He goes to the assistant

:06:16. > :06:21.referee, look at the replay. It confirms it. It is a brilliant save

:06:22. > :06:25.from Freddie Woodman. All his weight is the wrong way. He gets his left

:06:26. > :06:30.arm out and it is a really strong hand. Not just to stop it but to put

:06:31. > :06:36.it away to safety. Is it a contradiction to say that he went

:06:37. > :06:42.the wrong way and have saved it? He is diving one way and the ball goes

:06:43. > :06:46.the other. He almost dives past it. But to actually keep it out and push

:06:47. > :06:52.it to a safe area where it can't be followed up and scored, brilliant.

:06:53. > :06:57.Great core, really strong. He deserved it. He was top drawer

:06:58. > :07:00.today. That is the goal-scorer, Calvert-Lewin. We can see the

:07:01. > :07:05.winning goal of the game again. He missed the header, shot with a right

:07:06. > :07:10.foot, rebound with a left foot. Great persistence. A simple

:07:11. > :07:16.challenge but he has the wherewithal to go for a simple ball. Good from

:07:17. > :07:20.the keeper but he has the composure to follow up his own shot. Great

:07:21. > :07:25.composure. He tucked it into the corner. He deserves that for

:07:26. > :07:28.persistence. The biggest thing for me, we all know these players are

:07:29. > :07:33.very gifted and talented, with fantastic technique. The reason he

:07:34. > :07:38.got himself into that situation was his bravery and physicality. And

:07:39. > :07:41.going into a challenge where he could be heard. For that fact, he

:07:42. > :07:46.will really appreciate what that part of the game means to him. He

:07:47. > :07:51.has got a great physique and he did superb. They are going to friends

:07:52. > :07:57.and family and maybe fans who are just there in South Korea as well.

:07:58. > :08:00.But the England U20s have done their country proud. They have had a

:08:01. > :08:04.fantastic tournament and they end it by winning it this Sunday morning.

:08:05. > :08:10.You can see the heartbreak for Venezuela. It is the glory of

:08:11. > :08:14.winning a World Cup, obviously. But the tournament would have been a

:08:15. > :08:19.successful than anyhow, wouldn't it? Definitely. They are starting to

:08:20. > :08:27.produce players. St George's Park is really starting to work. 17s, 18s,

:08:28. > :08:33.19s and 21s producing good football. The tournament is on the red button.

:08:34. > :08:36.We have the live triathlon coming up from Leeds on BBC Two. As far as

:08:37. > :08:43.English football is concerned, the future is looking bright.

:08:44. > :08:48.A Sunday morning bonus of watching an England team in a World Cup

:08:49. > :08:53.final. Away we go. Freddie Woodman. He gets a shot away. What a strike

:08:54. > :08:58.that was! It caught everybody out. A chance! And another one! And England

:08:59. > :09:07.have taken the lead! A brilliant effort. The referee does give a

:09:08. > :09:10.penalty for Venezuela. It is kept out by Freddie Woodman. And England

:09:11. > :09:11.have won the U20s World
