:00:58. > :01:10.What a strike from Cissokho. What a strike by Sandro. That is absolutely

:01:11. > :01:16.stunning. Eden Hazard will shoot, now. What a

:01:17. > :01:38.screamer. What an effort, fantastic! Good evening. We might have to

:01:39. > :01:40.introduce a goal of the week competition after an extraordinary

:01:41. > :01:44.few days in the Barclays Premier League. Plenty then to live up to

:01:45. > :02:06.this evening, and I promise you it won't disappoint.

:02:07. > :02:09.And before all seven games today, there was a minute's applause in

:02:10. > :02:32.memory of Nelson Mandela. With me in the studio tonight are

:02:33. > :02:36.Alan Shearer and Robbie Savage. It's 38 years since Stoke beat Chelsea in

:02:37. > :02:39.the league but they'll be encouraged by the fact they're unbeaten in

:02:40. > :02:42.their last four home games. They'll be less encouraged by the fact

:02:43. > :02:44.Chelsea have won their last three league games, scoring ten in the

:02:45. > :02:56.process. Commentary by Simon Brotherton.

:02:57. > :02:58.Chelsea have scored more in the last two away games than Stoke City have

:02:59. > :03:04.managed at home all season, a measure of the task facing Mark

:03:05. > :03:07.Hughes's team as they look for only their second league victory since

:03:08. > :03:13.the end of August against opponents eager to narrow the gap at the top

:03:14. > :03:17.to a single point. Marc Muniesa, a 21-year-old defender signed from

:03:18. > :03:23.Barcelona makes his second Premier League start replacing the injured

:03:24. > :03:29.Eric Peters, and Jon Walters returns with Oussama Assaidi dropping to the

:03:30. > :03:34.bench. Frank Lampard is on the bench, and Willian is ill for

:03:35. > :03:39.Chelsea. John Terry captains the side on his 33rd birthday having

:03:40. > :03:41.made more appearances in the current campaign than in the hole of last

:03:42. > :03:55.season. -- the whole of. The delivery from Andre Schurrle,

:03:56. > :04:00.and Ramires, over the top. The first clear sight of goal for Chelsea and

:04:01. > :04:07.it has come within the first five minutes. Ramires lifting the ball

:04:08. > :04:11.some distance over the top. Josie coming to this game on the back of

:04:12. > :04:16.three straight victories, after a minor blip in November, being beaten

:04:17. > :04:22.by Newcastle and being held to a draw by West Bromwich Albion.

:04:23. > :04:31.Andre Schurrle spurns Ryan Shawcross, and it is the perfect

:04:32. > :04:36.finish by Andre Schurrle, and the perfect start for Chelsea. Inside

:04:37. > :04:41.ten minutes they lead 1-0. He has looked lively in the opening

:04:42. > :04:51.exchanges. He turns Ryan Shawcross, not once but twice, before releasing

:04:52. > :04:56.a shot into the bottom corner. Mark Hughes has seen his side concede

:04:57. > :04:58.only the fourth time this season against one of his old clubs, of

:04:59. > :05:09.course. Torres, challenged by Mark Wilson,

:05:10. > :05:22.and it is with Ramires. Chelsea, threatening a second goal,

:05:23. > :05:26.here. Stoke City have only scored five goals in seven home matches

:05:27. > :05:34.this season before today. That was one back by John Mikel Obi. And that

:05:35. > :05:35.is Ramires for Chelsea. Another straightforward save for Asmir

:05:36. > :05:48.Begovic. Jon Walters onside, away from Cesar

:05:49. > :05:56.Azpilicueta. And it is just over the top of Stephen Ireland's head.

:05:57. > :06:05.Stephen N'Zonzi away to the far side. And Marco Arnautovic.

:06:06. > :06:12.They settle for a corner kick. Stephen Ireland was in the right

:06:13. > :06:17.place as the ball came over. The threat from Stoke City has been

:06:18. > :06:22.sporadic in the first half. Petr Cech thought about it and did not

:06:23. > :06:26.quite get there. Stoke City have an equaliser, through Peter Crouch.

:06:27. > :06:31.They have been second best in this first half, but with a brake on the

:06:32. > :06:35.horizon, they are level. Petr Cech thought about coming as the ball

:06:36. > :06:40.came in, then had second thoughts, he got stuck in no man's land, and

:06:41. > :06:46.Peter Crouch found the bottom of the net. And Peter Crouch has his fourth

:06:47. > :06:49.goal of the season. Stoke City, who have hardly threatened, are level at

:06:50. > :07:03.1-1. No foul awarded for the challenge by

:07:04. > :07:09.Jon Walters on Cesar Azpilicueta. And now it is with Stephen Ireland,

:07:10. > :07:13.he goes the goal, and he scores, and Stoke City have turned this game on

:07:14. > :07:18.its head. Stephen Ireland, of the bench in the first half, give Stoke

:07:19. > :07:24.City the lead. The clearance from Asmir Begovic, Azpilicueta went

:07:25. > :07:31.down, they look to the referee, no free kick awarded, and Stephen

:07:32. > :07:34.Ireland finishes the job. And Chelsea, who looked in control for

:07:35. > :07:40.most of the first half, suddenly find themselves behind.

:07:41. > :07:47.Chelsea, with mixed results on the road so far in the Premier League,

:07:48. > :07:58.three victories, are couple of drawers, a couple of degrees. -- a

:07:59. > :08:04.couple of draws. It sets this second half up beautifully. Juan Mata

:08:05. > :08:12.prepares to take this one. Plenty forward for it as well. What a

:08:13. > :08:21.strike! Andre Schurrle. Into the net like a laser. And Stoke City's lead

:08:22. > :08:25.lasted barely a couple of minutes. Juan Mata with the delivery, half

:08:26. > :08:34.cleared by the defence, and they then MS shot from Andre Schurrle.

:08:35. > :08:38.His second of the game. -- venomous shot. The frustration of going ahead

:08:39. > :08:52.and not hanging onto the lead. Andre Schurrle with the shot, and he

:08:53. > :08:56.was so unlucky. So close to the hat-trick. Magnificent effort from

:08:57. > :09:07.the German international. That was a neat, tidy exchange

:09:08. > :09:16.between Stephen N'Zonzi and Peter Crouch. In towards Stephen Ireland,

:09:17. > :09:21.and it was a chance. It was not 1 million miles away from a third goal

:09:22. > :09:28.for Stoke City. Stephen N'Zonzi with the ball in, held up, Stephen

:09:29. > :09:29.Ireland onside, and the chance goes begging as it is lifted, high over

:09:30. > :09:42.the bar. Frank Lampard looking for Demba Ba,

:09:43. > :09:47.challenged by Ryan Shawcross. He looks in vain at Jonathan Moss, the

:09:48. > :09:55.referee. Nothing doing. Chelsea with the chance to break, through

:09:56. > :10:00.Ramires. Eden Hazard, still going. Samuel Eto'o with a little touch. It

:10:01. > :10:06.was agonisingly out of reach for Asmir Begovic, and agonisingly past

:10:07. > :10:13.the post for Chelsea. Almost finding a way through. For quite awhile that

:10:14. > :10:19.first half, this team looked like running away with this game.

:10:20. > :10:26.Stephen Ireland did not manage to stop the move. And now it is Stephen

:10:27. > :10:32.Ireland two has got the ball. Oussama Assaidi wants it. Peter

:10:33. > :10:39.Crouch working hard to stay onside, and what a goal, what a winner, for

:10:40. > :10:46.Stoke City. One minute ago, hardly any time for Chelsea to come back.

:10:47. > :10:52.-- one minute to go. The Britannia Stadium goes absolutely mad. Oussama

:10:53. > :10:59.Assaidi delayed substitute, wins the day, surely. What a finish! And it

:11:00. > :11:01.was beyond the reach of Petr Cech, as we prepare to go into added time

:11:02. > :11:14.at the end of the game. It is all worth it sometimes. He has

:11:15. > :11:19.not had much to cheer about in the last few weeks, but he enjoyed that.

:11:20. > :11:28.Juan Mata cannot get there first. Frank Lampard with the ball up. Juan

:11:29. > :11:33.Mata, and that is won by Wilson Thomas just, and that is it. Stoke

:11:34. > :11:39.City beat Chelsea in the league for the first time since 1975. And

:11:40. > :11:43.Chelsea lose away from home for the third time this season, the fifth

:11:44. > :11:52.time away that they have dropped points, and Stoke City have beaten

:11:53. > :11:57.Chelsea 3-2. It was a great response from each and every one of the guys

:11:58. > :12:00.today, it was exemplary, and some of the goals were outstanding, for both

:12:01. > :12:05.sides. Chelsea asked a lot of questions but I felt that we had a

:12:06. > :12:10.threat and I enjoyed the game. I thought it was end to end. Happy to

:12:11. > :12:15.come out of a positive result. When we play such good football like we

:12:16. > :12:22.did in the first half, we have to score goals, and we didn't. We only

:12:23. > :12:28.scored one goal, not by a striker, but by a number ten are winger,

:12:29. > :12:33.whatever you want to call him, and we produce and produce and produce,

:12:34. > :12:40.and we do not score enough goals in relation to the production and

:12:41. > :12:48.quality of football. When we get the three points against Chelsea,

:12:49. > :12:53.everyone is very happy. And it gives us confidence for the future. We are

:12:54. > :13:00.not used to seeing Chelsea conceding three calls. No. What do you want me

:13:01. > :13:04.to say but you not to criticise individually the mistakes of my

:13:05. > :13:10.players? I cannot do it. How much did you need this as a team, after a

:13:11. > :13:15.difficult spell than the past couple of months? We have only had one

:13:16. > :13:20.defeat in the last six games. We have not won as many as we possibly

:13:21. > :13:24.deserve, but everybody understands, and relates to what we are trying to

:13:25. > :13:26.do. We are trying to change the way we play. And I think people saw Matt

:13:27. > :13:38.today. -- saw that. They have waited a long time to beat

:13:39. > :13:44.Chelsea and it was a special way to do it. Yes, in the first half, too

:13:45. > :13:48.many long balls up to Peter Crouch. There was no support. He was not

:13:49. > :13:54.winning the headers. It was like Stoke City last season. Charlie Adam

:13:55. > :14:00.goes off with an injury, and he brings on Stephen Ireland, who had

:14:01. > :14:05.such an influence on the game. Here, he timed his run a bit better.

:14:06. > :14:11.This is a fantastic move. This is the move of the game. Stephen

:14:12. > :14:15.Ireland and Peter Crouch linking again as they did all afternoon.

:14:16. > :14:20.Great chest control, and Stephen Ireland should have done better.

:14:21. > :14:24.This is the goal. I think it was a foul, Jonathan Walters, but still,

:14:25. > :14:29.he drives into the box, great will to Stephen Ireland, and what a

:14:30. > :14:33.finish. He just bends that into the bottom corner. And this is the

:14:34. > :14:37.winning goal. Stephen Ireland tries to take one to the team, to bring

:14:38. > :14:48.him down, good refereeing. The ball breaks, a bit of luck, but there was

:14:49. > :14:57.nobody for Chelsea in that area. And just watch this for a finish. He cut

:14:58. > :15:00.inside. How that. -- have that. And they deserve that for the

:15:01. > :15:11.second-half performance. Huge credit to Mark Hughes. Chelsea look

:15:12. > :15:19.particularly fragile from set pieces. It is not like Jose

:15:20. > :15:25.Mourinho's team. They conceded three set pieces at Sunderland on

:15:26. > :15:31.Wednesday and again here today. The goalkeeper causes confusion in

:15:32. > :15:38.between all his players. When you have got all of them who are all six

:15:39. > :15:41.foot plus, one of them has to take responsibility and at the moment

:15:42. > :15:46.none of them are and that is why they are conceding so many goals.

:15:47. > :15:54.You can blame the defenders, but it is an interesting stat. No Chelsea

:15:55. > :15:57.striker has scored in the league away from home for Chelsea this

:15:58. > :16:06.calendar year, it is extraordinary stuff. Which is why Jose Mourinho

:16:07. > :16:14.wanted Wayne Rooney at the beginning of this season. Will he be in the

:16:15. > :16:19.hunt? He has got to be. Manchester united's defeat mid week was the

:16:20. > :16:24.fourth in their campaign. Newcastle were the visitors to Old Trafford

:16:25. > :16:29.today where they have not won 441 years. Guy Mowbray was watching.

:16:30. > :16:39.Manchester United may be missing Wayne Rooney today, but Robin van

:16:40. > :16:45.Persie is fit and straight back in. It may quell some gossip about his

:16:46. > :16:48.apparent unrest at the club. Tim Krul's superb form is attracting

:16:49. > :16:56.plenty of attention and earned him the accolade of the Player of the

:16:57. > :16:59.Month in September. With such change having happened at Manchester

:17:00. > :17:16.United, teams are thinking now is the time to have a go.

:17:17. > :17:28.That was the best attacking move of the game so far. Newcastle defended

:17:29. > :17:41.that well enough to prevent a really clear chance opening up.

:17:42. > :17:49.Down goes Fernandez that there does not look to be anything untoward in

:17:50. > :17:57.the challenge to be honest. He does not touch him. There is nothing in

:17:58. > :18:16.that at all. Fernandez, to be honest, is looking for it.

:18:17. > :18:23.That is a big saves, especially at this stage of the game. He has had

:18:24. > :18:29.precious little to do, but was on guard when he had to be. The name of

:18:30. > :18:37.David De Gea is echoing around Old Trafford now. That is the second

:18:38. > :18:43.save in a matter of moments for him to have to make. But we have had a

:18:44. > :18:52.flurry of excitement just before the break. David Moyes is shouting that

:18:53. > :19:24.he wants them to charge through the middle. A good save from Tim Krul.

:19:25. > :19:31.He had to hold it with Hernandez ready to pounce. To Manchester

:19:32. > :19:43.United chances and to save made by Tim Krul. Fernandez was onside,

:19:44. > :19:49.just, he timed the run right. Tim Krul got himself in the right shade.

:19:50. > :19:53.Manchester United have two chances in the second half. I make that one

:19:54. > :20:05.more than they had in the whole of the first half.

:20:06. > :20:28.Anita is in his way and he is staying there. Moussa Sissoko is a

:20:29. > :20:41.much bigger unit. As soon he moves in you are falling. He was winning

:20:42. > :20:49.that one at all costs. Manchester United were scheming forehands.

:20:50. > :20:55.Everyone is having a go at it and in the middle of it Tim Krul has

:20:56. > :20:59.managed to get on the ball. Anita was on the post where he needed to

:21:00. > :21:08.be. It comes off the post and onto his arm. A great leap from Patrice

:21:09. > :21:14.Evra. A good move from Williamson. He did not know much about that. If

:21:15. > :21:18.a penalty had been awarded, it would have been in the harsh category.

:21:19. > :21:40.More frustration for David Moyes. That is Yohan Cabaye. On the hour

:21:41. > :21:43.mark keystrokes at home. More pressure and more frustration for

:21:44. > :21:49.the Manchester United manager. There is a long way to go in the game yet,

:21:50. > :21:55.but has Yohan Cabaye put Newcastle on the way to a first-time win away

:21:56. > :22:04.to Manchester United in more than 41 years. That was the best option.

:22:05. > :22:15.There was a desperate touch from Nemanja Vidic. I do not think David

:22:16. > :22:23.De Gea was getting there anyway. It is a delirious Toon Army. Manchester

:22:24. > :22:34.United last lost successive home games in the Premier League between

:22:35. > :22:35.March and May, 2002. Now it is a chance to throw the kitchen sink at

:22:36. > :22:58.Newcastle United. A flag is up and it will not count.

:22:59. > :23:02.The assistant referee did not hesitate. It was a good finish, but

:23:03. > :23:29.in vain. Traditionally there are only so many

:23:30. > :23:33.of these and opposition team can give away against the Red Devils.

:23:34. > :23:41.That was missed by everybody in there. They cannot do any more than

:23:42. > :23:48.this. Nobody was able to apply the finishing touch. It was missed by

:23:49. > :23:56.everybody. A big day out ruined for young and old. The younger ones will

:23:57. > :24:00.never have known anything like this. They are nowhere near where they are

:24:01. > :24:10.used to seeing their team in the Premier League table. Ameobi wins

:24:11. > :24:17.it. Another corner. This is adding to the frustration. What a happy

:24:18. > :24:23.journey home it will be. Most of them will never have experienced

:24:24. > :24:29.this before. A Newcastle United win away to Manchester United for the

:24:30. > :24:32.first time in over 40 years. We played differently today. I asked

:24:33. > :24:37.the team to have more control and keep the ball and we did that. We

:24:38. > :24:44.did not let them get to us. Their biggest threat came on the break,

:24:45. > :24:48.but my players were outstanding. We needed a goal to get our confidence

:24:49. > :24:55.to play better. They got a goal and we could have done much better. It

:24:56. > :24:59.changed the game then. It is difficult for David and the club at

:25:00. > :25:05.the moment. He is a very good manager and it is important the fans

:25:06. > :25:09.and the players stick with him. He has already proved he will be great

:25:10. > :25:22.for the club. But we all have sticky days. Robin van Persie has not had

:25:23. > :25:25.many games. He needed to come off after 70 minutes maximum, but I

:25:26. > :25:34.needed to keep him on, we were needing a goal back. For Manchester

:25:35. > :25:39.United that is three defeats in this campaign at Old Trafford. It was a

:25:40. > :25:42.very flat atmosphere from the Old Trafford faithful and there was a

:25:43. > :25:47.lack of invention and a lack of creation. I thought Newcastle were

:25:48. > :25:52.brilliant. They changed their system today and put another one in

:25:53. > :25:57.midfield, they put in Anita to make it a five-man midfield and I thought

:25:58. > :26:02.it was brilliant. They were well worthy of their win. The goal

:26:03. > :26:12.encapsulated some of the problems Manchester United have at the

:26:13. > :26:21.moment. The goal has come from the goalkeeper's kick. Tim Krul is going

:26:22. > :26:25.to launch it up to Yohan Cabaye. There is the back four and there is

:26:26. > :26:30.the midfield four. He is in the perfect position. It is the space

:26:31. > :26:37.between the midfield four and the back four. Nemanja Vidic has got to

:26:38. > :26:43.say, I want you in front of Yohan Cabaye. Yohan Cabaye reacts first.

:26:44. > :26:54.Tim cleverly has not thought of the danger. Who is he looking at? I do

:26:55. > :26:58.not know. Loic Remy takes a couple of steps in there. The lack of a

:26:59. > :27:10.defensive midfielder has cost them. Looking at United, David Moyes talks

:27:11. > :27:15.about Robin van Persie and denied there were any transfer requests by

:27:16. > :27:21.him. But he shifted his position and played him a bit deeper. He shifted

:27:22. > :27:27.his position because of Newcastle because they played five in

:27:28. > :27:31.midfield. He was flat today. He was feeding on scraps. This is what he

:27:32. > :27:36.was asked to do when they did not have the ball because of

:27:37. > :27:40.Newcastle's extra man. Sit on the midfielder and they win the ball

:27:41. > :27:48.back. Robin van Persie, look at his reaction. That was his job when they

:27:49. > :27:54.did not have the ball. But when the ball is clear, he should be on the

:27:55. > :27:57.last man, he is a proper centre forward and gives defenders

:27:58. > :28:02.nightmares. It is too easy for Newcastle at times because of that.

:28:03. > :28:09.This is a great example. Admire him for helping out his team, but the

:28:10. > :28:13.ball gets played out wide and look where he is. He is one of the best

:28:14. > :28:20.centre forwards around and he should be in there. He is 25 yards away

:28:21. > :28:24.from the 18-yard box. He is actually in the back four in the second half

:28:25. > :28:33.because he is not getting a touch up front. This is a magnificent ball

:28:34. > :28:38.into Hernandez. It is outstanding. Wayne Rooney can do that, not a lot

:28:39. > :28:42.of other people can do that. There is a lack of invention and creation

:28:43. > :28:51.in the team at the moment. I know Wayne Rooney is out, and I know

:28:52. > :28:55.Michael Carrick is out. As for Newcastle they were magnificent at

:28:56. > :29:04.times. They had a game plan and they stuck to it and it worked. Looe they

:29:05. > :29:23.brought Anita in and the combination meant that he won the Man of the

:29:24. > :29:33.Match game. Tiote was fantastic. He won all his tackle. This is what a

:29:34. > :29:34.defensive minded midfield player does. Against Jones on the front

:29:35. > :29:49.foot. 50/50 challenge. He looks at him

:29:50. > :29:55.there. Is that an elbow? I think some referees might give that as a

:29:56. > :30:01.yellow card. Or red card. Moyes, safe? They gave Alex Fergusson time

:30:02. > :30:04.at the beginning of his United career. It was always going to be a

:30:05. > :30:12.difficult time for him because they didn't sign any players in the

:30:13. > :30:14.summer, and they should have. Four goals in midweek against Norwich

:30:15. > :30:18.means Liverpool's Luis Suarez now has 13 for the season, one more than

:30:19. > :30:22.the entire West Ham team who arrived at Anfield today having failed to

:30:23. > :30:24.score in five of their seven away games so far. Martin Fisher saw this

:30:25. > :30:28.one. COMMENTATOR: English eyes focussed

:30:29. > :30:34.on this fella even more than ever before, Roy Hodgson's problem on

:30:35. > :30:38.June 9th is West Ham's today, Luis Suarez now the Premier League's

:30:39. > :30:44.leading scorer after his four goal haul here in midweek. West Ham have

:30:45. > :30:50.Modibo Maiga up front. His last goal came a year ago. The Hammers haven't

:30:51. > :30:55.scored here in their last five visits. Their last win was in 1963

:30:56. > :30:58.when Sam Allardyce was in short trousers kicking a tennis ball

:30:59. > :31:13.around in a playground in Dudley. COMMENTATOR: The touch on him by

:31:14. > :31:20.Flanagan was firmer. That brings West Ham United the free-kick. In by

:31:21. > :31:25.Noble, up goes Collins. Skrtel just struggling to get it away. Tomkins

:31:26. > :31:36.was in an offside position anyway. Not got the best of records as a

:31:37. > :31:41.manage r here, Sam Allardyce. Maiga's shot. Came off Johnson for

:31:42. > :31:47.the corner. West Ham's first corner, 14 minutes gone. Collins, Tomkins,

:31:48. > :31:54.Demel and Maiga looking to attack this. It is curled in by Jarvis.

:31:55. > :31:59.Easily gathered by Mignolet. Can Liverpool use their speed to hit

:32:00. > :32:05.West Ham swiftly on the counter. Sterling, two players waiting in the

:32:06. > :32:10.box, one of them is Hendrie Henderson! Talk about swift counter

:32:11. > :32:16.attack. Sterling had two targets back post. Henderson almost got

:32:17. > :32:21.there. It went over the bar rather than underneath it.

:32:22. > :32:30.Jarvis to his left. Maiga and Downing wait in the centre. There is

:32:31. > :32:35.Maiga. Fabulouses save by Mignolet. Maiga got everything right about

:32:36. > :32:39.that header. Lovely ball in from Jarvis. The header was heading home.

:32:40. > :32:46.Mignolet flies across to keep it out. Liverpool have won their last

:32:47. > :32:50.four here in a row, scoring 16 goals in the process. The vast majority of

:32:51. > :33:00.their goals this season have come before the half-time interval.

:33:01. > :33:08.Gerrard's erant pass. Suarez has got it back from Johnson. Suarez! How

:33:09. > :33:13.unfortunate, off Demel and into the West Ham net. Luis Suarez had the

:33:14. > :33:18.shot. I don't think that will go down as his 14th Premier League goal

:33:19. > :33:25.of the season. Rough justice on West Ham. Johnson fed Suarez, kept out by

:33:26. > :33:29.Jaaskelainen, it hits the shins of his right back, Demel, he knew

:33:30. > :33:31.nothing about it. He is not celebrating it, Demel doesn't want

:33:32. > :33:45.it. That is an OG. Suarez, fouled by Tomkins, strong

:33:46. > :33:52.challenge through the back of the Uruguayan. The referee choosing to

:33:53. > :33:58.keep his card in his pocket. Hasn't shown a red card since August 2012,

:33:59. > :34:06.not adverse to bringing out the yellows. Gerrard's delivery is good.

:34:07. > :34:11.Back post, Sakho is there. It's in. Another scruffy, scruffy goal.

:34:12. > :34:16.Martin Skrtel will claim it. James Collins tried to clear it. Either

:34:17. > :34:22.side of half-time, Liverpool have found two goals that probably gives

:34:23. > :34:30.Brendan Rodgers three more points. Gerrard's delivery was deep towards

:34:31. > :34:37.Sakho who helped it back across. Sakho going for goal. Skrtel, the

:34:38. > :34:41.other centre defender, charged down James Collins' attempt at clearance.

:34:42. > :34:45.Liverpool now with daylight between themselves and West Ham and really

:34:46. > :34:51.you cannot see a way back for the visitors now.

:34:52. > :34:59.Suarez has done well. Gerrard, Hernedson is on the edge if Gerrard

:35:00. > :35:03.chooses to go that way. Gerrard shooting instead. He might have

:35:04. > :35:08.pulled his hamstring in process. As soon as the block came in, Gerrard

:35:09. > :35:14.pulled up. You saw him signal to the bench.

:35:15. > :35:26.McCar any is looking for Maiga. It might drop here for Kevin Nolan.

:35:27. > :35:30.Demel. Jarvis. Back into the mix. Skrtel, own-goal. He scored one at

:35:31. > :35:34.Hull a couple of weeks ago. Maybe there is a way back for West Ham

:35:35. > :35:39.United yet. Their first attack really of this second-half. Demel's

:35:40. > :35:45.delivery. Jarvis does well to put it back in the mix. Before Maiga could

:35:46. > :35:51.get to it, Skrtel did and made a better fist of beating the Liverpool

:35:52. > :35:56.goalkeeper. Renewed hope for West Ham United.

:35:57. > :36:05.Demel, blocked by Sakho. He can't prevent the corner. West Ham fans in

:36:06. > :36:08.that corner of the ground hoping that they might be able to find an

:36:09. > :36:19.equaliser from somewhere. Suarez can't clear, won by Diame.

:36:20. > :36:26.This is O'Brien. Now James Collins. Wide by Maiga. How many chances has

:36:27. > :36:30.he missed? This time it's Liverpool's turn to throw bodies in

:36:31. > :36:36.the way. Collins chancing his arm. That turned into a fabulous pass for

:36:37. > :36:39.Maiga. Somehow, from inside the six-yard box, he screws it wide. Not

:36:40. > :36:44.many of those supporters were around when Liverpool last lost to West Ham

:36:45. > :36:50.here in the league. It was 1963, September of that year, Liverpool

:36:51. > :37:02.did in fact go on to win the first division title under Bill Shankley.

:37:03. > :37:08.Suarez! It had to be. It's not Liverpool at an need unless Luis

:37:09. > :37:12.Suarez scores this season. That is his 14th Premier League goal of the

:37:13. > :37:19.campaign. Fabulous delivery from Johnson. Suarez moves in behind

:37:20. > :37:22.Collins there. Collins defended so brilliantly throughout the

:37:23. > :37:27.afternoon. Couldn't stretch to get this one away. Suarez timed his run

:37:28. > :37:32.brilliantly and bullets it past Jaaskelainen. Liverpool have their

:37:33. > :37:36.two goal cushion again. Surely that is the inof Sam Allardyce's hopes of

:37:37. > :37:44.going home with anything from Anfield today. 3-1 Liverpool.

:37:45. > :37:50.Johnson will take this throw. Nolan through the back of him. The referee

:37:51. > :37:54.wants a word. It's a straight red for Kevin Nolan. Michael Oliver had

:37:55. > :37:59.a really good view of that. Nolan now goes across to apologise to

:38:00. > :38:06.Henderson. It was a nasty one. Well spotted by Michael Oliver here. It

:38:07. > :38:14.through the back of the Liverpool player. Stamps on his calf. Kevin

:38:15. > :38:26.Nolan sent off. Johnson with the free-kick. Lucas for Allen. Moses.

:38:27. > :38:32.Henderson, Skrtel still waiting in the box. This is Suarez. Away from

:38:33. > :38:39.Noble. Suarez going for goal, surely. Deflected, and in! Goals

:38:40. > :38:45.galore again at Anfield. It definitely took a deflection on its

:38:46. > :38:48.way through, off O'Brien's shoulder. Jaaskelainen completely

:38:49. > :38:52.wrong-footed. Off the bar and in. Liverpool's fifth win in a row at

:38:53. > :38:59.home. They just can't stop scoring at home. Final score at Anfield,

:39:00. > :39:04.Liverpool four, West Ham United one. I was really pleased with the

:39:05. > :39:07.reaction when it went to 2-1. We conceded the own-goal, we had

:39:08. > :39:11.pressure for seven or eight minutes. The reaction after that to get to

:39:12. > :39:16.the third goal again was outstanding. Most disappointing for

:39:17. > :39:20.me was conceding the goal so early in the second-half when we showed

:39:21. > :39:24.good defending work. Injury to Steven Gerrard, what is the news

:39:25. > :39:28.there? He went to make the pass down that right hand side, he felt a

:39:29. > :39:35.little tweak there. We need to see how serious it is. It was certainly

:39:36. > :39:42.a hamstring. Lost your captain now We lost Stewart Downing for a hash

:39:43. > :39:47.tackle. He will need stitches. I don't disagree with the Kevin

:39:48. > :39:52.sending off. If that is a sending off, young Flanagan should have been

:39:53. > :39:57.red carded as well. We should look straight at that and clear it up

:39:58. > :40:02.straightaway. Sam is not happy about Flanagan not getting a red when

:40:03. > :40:06.Nolan did. What did you make of it? What saved Flanagan it's after three

:40:07. > :40:11.minutes. Shouldn't really make any difference. He didn't get any yellow

:40:12. > :40:15.card or a red card. He has got away with that one there. I mean, 10

:40:16. > :40:20.years ago you wouldn't look at that all. Sam is right, it's silly off

:40:21. > :40:26.Kevin, late in the game. The game is gone. Frustration from Nolan,

:40:27. > :40:32.deserved the red card and will miss three games. Terrible tackle. We had

:40:33. > :40:36.something of a Suarez watch, trying to help Roy Hodgson and England in

:40:37. > :40:42.every way we can. It won't help them at all watching this little fella?

:40:43. > :40:46.He is on a different plan echlt he has been brilliant this season. When

:40:47. > :40:55.things are going for you, they go for you. Mis controls it there. He

:40:56. > :41:00.is pointing for the defender to bug James Collins. Thinks he is going to

:41:01. > :41:06.near-post, he is going to the far-post. Brilliant cross. Great

:41:07. > :41:09.header, great run. Mesmerising, left foot, right foot. When you are hot,

:41:10. > :41:15.you are hot, you shoot from anywhere. Joey O'Brien doesn't want

:41:16. > :41:20.it as an own-goal. He tried to take the shot on. When your luck is in,

:41:21. > :41:23.your luck is in. Let us hope he gets it out of the way before May. June

:41:24. > :41:27.even. We are nearly half way, four games

:41:28. > :41:48.still to come. Three straight defeats have halted

:41:49. > :41:51.Southampton's early season momentum and it didn't get any easier for

:41:52. > :41:55.them today with the visit of Manchester City, who are up to third

:41:56. > :42:03.after scoring 12 goals in their last three games. At St Mary's for us was

:42:04. > :42:09.Steve Wilson. Italy, not England today as Osvaldo is preferred to

:42:10. > :42:17.Rickie Lambert up front for Southampton. England's goalkeeper is

:42:18. > :42:23.on the bench as well, Pantilimon continues in goal. Manchester City

:42:24. > :42:28.haven't won back-to-back away league games in almost a year.

:42:29. > :42:42.COMMENTATOR: Osvaldo. Tried to do too much. There were opportunities

:42:43. > :42:49.ahead of him and opportunities wide. Twice he was caughts in possession.

:42:50. > :42:53.Falls to Davis. Couple of feet wide. Southampton will be quite buoyed by

:42:54. > :43:00.the start they have made. They have had their share of possession. They

:43:01. > :43:08.have had their first site of Pantilimon's goal. They are

:43:09. > :43:12.consecutive defeats for the manager. Southampton are ten points and ten

:43:13. > :43:22.places better off than they were at this stage last season when they

:43:23. > :43:26.still had Nigel Akins in charge. Aguero scores for Manchester City.

:43:27. > :43:31.Tenth minute of the game. Southampton let it go through two or

:43:32. > :43:36.three deferned on its way to Sergio Aguero, who didn't require a second

:43:37. > :43:42.invitation to score. Avoidable from Southampton's point of view.

:43:43. > :43:46.Clinical from Manchester City's. There are five Southampton red

:43:47. > :43:52.shirts in there. The ball evades all of them. Aguero, who is in

:43:53. > :44:03.absolutely deadly form, rattles home another. Southampton just having a

:44:04. > :44:09.little spell here. Here is Cort. -- Cork. Worth a go. If the keeper had

:44:10. > :44:11.let that one, in Joe Hart might have been in for the second-half, let

:44:12. > :44:32.alone the next game. And Sergio Aguero, for once, has

:44:33. > :44:38.missed. J Rodriguez was slow to react.

:44:39. > :44:52.You would expect him to hit the target from there.

:44:53. > :45:02.Dangerous curling ball in, and just wide. Chambers, at the back post.

:45:03. > :45:05.What a glorious ball from Luke Shaw. The two fullbacks combining for

:45:06. > :45:10.Southampton. Fabulous polling by Luke Shaw, and Chambers, arriving at

:45:11. > :45:17.the back post, could not quite convert. Two 18-year-old fullbacks

:45:18. > :45:20.nearly opening up Manchester City. Suddenly, Southampton have got

:45:21. > :45:32.Manchester City by the scruff of the neck. That had to be timed to a tee,

:45:33. > :45:44.and it was, by Josie font. -- Jose Fonte. Osvaldo turns inside Vincent

:45:45. > :45:53.Kompany, and what I call, that is absolutely brilliant! -- what a

:45:54. > :45:58.goal. ?15 million he cost from Roma, and that is the best thing he has

:45:59. > :46:02.done for Southampton. It is sensational from Dani Osvaldo,

:46:03. > :46:09.fantastic goal. How many times did he beat Vincent Kompany? And then,

:46:10. > :46:16.inch perfect, over the top of the goalkeeper, who is six foot eight,

:46:17. > :46:21.remember. That is a special moment. As good a goal as you will see. And

:46:22. > :46:25.we have seen some very good ones this season, but that is right up

:46:26. > :46:31.there. Southampton one, Manchester City one.

:46:32. > :46:40.Good run by James Milner. The ball in, just too high for the Greco,

:46:41. > :46:44.great first touch and then over the bar from Samia nursery. -- just too

:46:45. > :46:52.high for Alvaro Negredo. The first touch from Samia Nazarene

:46:53. > :47:05.was delightful, the second was wayward. -- from Samia

:47:06. > :47:13.good saved by Gazzaniga. That was well hit by Aguero. Gazzaniga made

:47:14. > :47:17.the save and make sure the ball was heading away from goal after it. --

:47:18. > :47:32.made sure. Yaya Toure. That had a few people

:47:33. > :47:36.wondering where it was going. " as for the season with that. It was

:47:37. > :47:44.curling in towards goal, but not quite into the goal.

:47:45. > :47:50.Manchester City are off to buy a Munich in the week, they go with

:47:51. > :48:01.qualification assured in the Champions League. -- to buy a

:48:02. > :48:10.Munich. -- Bayern Munich. What a waste! Dani Osvaldo, it should have

:48:11. > :48:13.been 2-1, Southampton. How can you score so sensationally with a chance

:48:14. > :48:15.so difficult in one half, but then missed so wildly with a chance so

:48:16. > :48:28.inviting in the second? Rodriguez running NBI and Zabaleta.

:48:29. > :48:52.And Dani Osvaldo. -- running NBI and the freak kick has been given. --

:48:53. > :48:58.free kick. Aleksandar Kolarov did not ink that was a foul. Adam

:48:59. > :49:03.Lallana went down a couple of strides after the contact. James

:49:04. > :49:12.Ward-Prowse to take this for Southampton. Great delivery. And

:49:13. > :49:17.that was a foot from Vincent Kompany. Southampton are

:49:18. > :49:21.protesting. I thought this game of the foot of Vincent Kompany. That is

:49:22. > :49:27.a brilliant piece of defending, absolutely fantastic. Manchester

:49:28. > :49:34.City will be happy to draw this game. I am happy with the point, I

:49:35. > :49:43.think both teams deserved the point. It was a very close match.

:49:44. > :49:47.All the teams are taking a lot of points from the other, I think it

:49:48. > :49:55.was a logical result. We believe in our philosophy, we keep doing what

:49:56. > :49:58.we do. And the Lord came at the end of the first half with a great goal

:49:59. > :50:07.by Dani Osvaldo, who had been working well. Showing some signs of

:50:08. > :50:11.genius. We have been persevering with Dani Osvaldo, and he showed

:50:12. > :50:15.that he has got the quality and skill to do what he did today. It is

:50:16. > :50:23.not easy to adapt to this league but he has done that and today, he has

:50:24. > :50:31.shown that. It is important not to lose, and today, we did that. And

:50:32. > :50:42.other teams can drop some points. I tell you what, I get excited

:50:43. > :50:48.watching Southampton. In particular, the young English players. I was

:50:49. > :50:54.impressed with Adam Lallana and look sure. Adam Lallana is making a good

:50:55. > :51:03.case to be in the squad for Brazil. In the team. His first thought is,

:51:04. > :51:06.can I get at the defence? Defenders hate running towards their goal, and

:51:07. > :51:14.he makes them do it. Great first touch. Yaya Toure tries to take him

:51:15. > :51:21.down. His pace, again, getting at the back four. And it creates and

:51:22. > :51:25.opens spaces for his colleagues. This time he chooses not to drive at

:51:26. > :51:30.them but that is a great piece of skill. And Manchester City get away

:51:31. > :51:35.with that. I mentioned the youngster, 18-year-old Luke Shaw,

:51:36. > :51:40.what a future this kid has got in the game. His first thought is,

:51:41. > :51:44.getting the ball in the box, and for a centre forward knowing that the

:51:45. > :51:50.wide players are going to do that makes the job easier, because you

:51:51. > :51:57.can gamble as a forward. What about this for a cross? First touch,

:51:58. > :52:00.second touch, whipping it in. And Chambers at the far post should

:52:01. > :52:09.actually score. What about this for a touch? Great touch. Again, he is

:52:10. > :52:12.playing with such composure. This World Cup might come a little bit

:52:13. > :52:18.too early for him, but if he keeps going, you never know, if Leighton

:52:19. > :52:22.Baines or Ashley Cole gets injured, I'm sure that Roy Hodgson has got

:52:23. > :52:29.him in his plans, because he has got a great future. We had a social

:52:30. > :52:35.media boat during the game about which you think is better, Suarez or

:52:36. > :52:41.Aguero, both world-class centre forwards. They are both world-class.

:52:42. > :52:47.I would have to say Suarez, because of the way he has reacted this

:52:48. > :52:53.season, 14 goals in ten games. He missed the first five through

:52:54. > :53:00.suspension. Luis Suarez for me. I will take them both. Time for a

:53:01. > :53:03.stat. Sunderland have hit the fewest shots on target this season in the

:53:04. > :53:05.league while Spurs have the lowest shot conversion rate. They do shoot

:53:06. > :53:13.a lot though. Always the optimist expecting a

:53:14. > :53:20.goalfest at the Stadium of Light was Steve Bower. Gus Poyet faces another

:53:21. > :53:25.of his former clubs. Spurs won at Fulham in midweek, the first in five

:53:26. > :53:28.games. Sunderland may crack in my changes including the return of

:53:29. > :53:38.Steven Fletcher and Adam Johnson to the starting line-up. Defensive

:53:39. > :53:42.headaches for Andre Villas-Boas, so Etienne Capoue plays in the centre

:53:43. > :53:43.of defence. Moussa Dembele is back in midfield, with Jermaine Defoe

:53:44. > :54:02.continuing an attack. -- in attack. Plenty of options. Jack Colback.

:54:03. > :54:12.Rare sight of goal for Jack Colback. Encouraging signs from Sunderland. A

:54:13. > :54:22.couple of former Spurs players trying to plot their downfall.

:54:23. > :54:35.Some wit for Sunderland. -- width. And Adam Johnson hammers at home.

:54:36. > :54:41.Hugo Lloris punished in the worst possible fashion, and Sunderland in

:54:42. > :54:49.front, eight minutes before half-time. The cross from Ondrej

:54:50. > :54:55.Celustka. Hugo Lloris will not want to see that again. And Adam Johnson

:54:56. > :54:58.drilled it past them, emphatically, for his first Premier League goal of

:54:59. > :55:05.the season. And it could be priceless for Sunderland. The Spurs

:55:06. > :55:15.goalkeeper with the mistake. Adam Johnson with the goal. Sunderland

:55:16. > :55:24.one, Spurs mill. -- nil. Back comes Spurs with Alan Lennon. -- Aaron

:55:25. > :55:31.Lennon. He was fouled by Jack Colback, Tottenham free kick.

:55:32. > :55:42.The delivery from Kyle Walker. Good header, and Spurs are level. Another

:55:43. > :55:50.untidy goal. But the visitors will not worry about that. Paulinho

:55:51. > :55:53.celebrates. Spurs are back level. The delivery from Kyle Walker looked

:55:54. > :56:02.as if it had been overhead, Nacer Chadli did well, and Paulinho got in

:56:03. > :56:07.there first, to stab at home. Sunderland will feel that they could

:56:08. > :56:12.have avoided that, but with their hesitation, the Brazilian got

:56:13. > :56:17.their, first. Sunderland one, Spurs one.

:56:18. > :56:23.Back to Paulinho, the Tottenham goal-scorer.

:56:24. > :56:30.Moussa Dembele, back in the starting 11. He has gone for the return.

:56:31. > :56:37.Jack Colback goes back with him. Moussa Dembele goes past him, he

:56:38. > :56:47.manages to get that in, and it has gone in, John O'Shea cannot believe

:56:48. > :56:53.it. Neither can Vito Mannone. A little drop of the shoulder. And as

:56:54. > :56:57.the cross came in, it came off the boot of John O'Shea, and deceived

:56:58. > :56:58.the goalkeeper. And Spurs, for the first time, and front with a stroke

:56:59. > :57:13.of luck. -- in front. That is a tough one to take.

:57:14. > :57:15.Sunderland, defending in numbers. Josey Altidore, comfortably

:57:16. > :57:26.dispossessed. Kyle Walker using his pace to good

:57:27. > :57:39.effect. Lewis Holtby, and a terrific block from Wes Brown.

:57:40. > :57:49.Can Alan Lennon keep that in? He can, it was dangerous, and of the

:57:50. > :57:51.post for Jermaine Defoe. He thought he had made it 3-1. And that was how

:57:52. > :58:06.close he was to doing so. Good run from Jermaine Defoe.

:58:07. > :58:07.On-site. What a chance. He had time to assess that and screwed it across

:58:08. > :58:29.the face of goal. The corner kick delivered by

:58:30. > :58:35.Sebastian Larsson. John O'Shea was appealing for the handball. He has

:58:36. > :58:39.raced over to the referee. Lee Mason, unmoved, and it did hit

:58:40. > :59:00.Sandro's arm. And Jermaine Defoe has hit the

:59:01. > :59:05.woodwork again. That's twice. He got goals either Wes Brown. Vito Mannone

:59:06. > :59:16.was beaten, but Sunderland still in it. Fletcher jumping and will it

:59:17. > :59:18.drop to Fabio Borini? It did, but it was straight at Hugo Lloris. Half a

:59:19. > :59:43.chance. there was no foul. A challenge from

:59:44. > :59:46.Dawson to prevent Fletcher from doing so. A nervy moment for the

:59:47. > :00:05.goalkeeper. It is a good week for Tottenham. A

:00:06. > :00:10.very good week. It started in December with Manchester United and

:00:11. > :00:14.we have picked up seven points in December following our difficult

:00:15. > :00:19.week and it is extremely important for us. We have finally got some

:00:20. > :00:28.confidence back into the team and hopefully we can look into the

:00:29. > :00:34.future with the satisfaction of going into it positively. I am doing

:00:35. > :00:41.my best and convincing the players how important it is to do the basics

:00:42. > :00:46.every day, in every single game. And so far it has not been good enough,

:00:47. > :00:55.simple as that. Was there a concern you did not score that third goal?

:00:56. > :01:03.It was a good chance, but the most important now by the points. If

:01:04. > :01:08.people keep believing this is luck, they are very naive. We have got

:01:09. > :01:14.very important games coming up, so we need strong characters on the

:01:15. > :01:20.pitch. With that you can compete and defend.

:01:21. > :01:28.You expect much and they have got a long way to go. It was only a few

:01:29. > :01:34.weeks ago that he was under threat with his job. A great response. They

:01:35. > :01:39.have come back from a goal behind, but today they had a bit of luck.

:01:40. > :01:48.They should have had a penalty, no question about it. Real time it is a

:01:49. > :01:53.penalty and in slow motion it is a penalty. Whichever way you look at

:01:54. > :02:03.it, it is a penalty. The referee is in a fantastic position. How on

:02:04. > :02:10.earth, Alan Shearer, as we can see coming up that he missed that? I do

:02:11. > :02:16.not know. It is not like you to be funny! Match of the Day two will

:02:17. > :02:23.feature N's goal of the month competition. After a stellar showing

:02:24. > :02:28.in October, this one is not too bad either. Dashed November's goal of

:02:29. > :03:03.the month. Two games in London will help make

:03:04. > :03:15.for a capital show. Next Sunday get ready for this. The sports

:03:32. > :03:40.people. Nigel Mansell wins. Steve Redgrave. For 60 years it has taken

:03:41. > :03:44.pride of place. The BBC Sports Personality of the Year is Bradley

:03:45. > :03:50.Wiggins. It is the most iconic sports trophy in sport. You can vote

:03:51. > :03:58.for this year 's's Sports Personality Of The Year on Sunday

:03:59. > :04:06.the 15th of December. To vote online you will have to register. You can

:04:07. > :04:10.do that at any time. Norwich have conceded 18 times on the road in

:04:11. > :04:16.their last four matches and have lost six out of seven away games so

:04:17. > :04:17.far. Today they travelled to take on a West Brom side who themselves have

:04:18. > :04:37.just won one game in eight. Diego Lugano makes his first start.

:04:38. > :04:43.It is the first time in 16 games there has been a different

:04:44. > :04:51.centre-half pairing for the Baggies. Changes were inevitable for Norwich.

:04:52. > :04:53.Gary Hooper is the club's top scorer with four. Whittaker and Turner come

:04:54. > :05:15.in at the back. And Hooper 's scorers. That is what

:05:16. > :05:20.he has been doing throughout his career. Scunthorpe and Celtic fans

:05:21. > :05:27.will tell you, give him a side of the opposition's net and he will

:05:28. > :05:32.score. He gets his third Premier League goal and shows exactly why he

:05:33. > :05:38.was such a valued member of Celtic's Champions League attempts

:05:39. > :05:41.in the past. A regular scorer in Scotland, now starting to find his

:05:42. > :05:50.scoring touch in the English Premier League. 82 goals in 136 at Celtic

:05:51. > :05:51.and that is not a bad record to take to England. They have scored in

:05:52. > :06:16.seven of the last eight games. That was a good stop. A nice

:06:17. > :06:35.exchange on the edge of the Norwich area. The shot was travelling, but

:06:36. > :06:40.John Ruddy's positioning was good. This is much better from West Brom.

:06:41. > :06:49.That was rifling into the roof of the net. John Ruddy got two hands to

:06:50. > :07:13.it to claw it away. Much better from Victor and HA Bay.

:07:14. > :07:23.He has just signed a new contract and he has created a buzz. Was there

:07:24. > :07:39.and are in there? It looks as though there might have been.

:07:40. > :07:43.It is debatable whether he intended to do it, but without it, it might

:07:44. > :08:00.have snuck in the corner. He may have been a bit fortunate to

:08:01. > :08:07.have found it at his feet, but once he got into that position, 99 times

:08:08. > :08:13.out of 100 he would have put it into the goal. John Ruddy had to go one

:08:14. > :08:21.way or the other and he went to his right. Somehow Norwich are still in

:08:22. > :08:28.front. The more you look at it, the more you are perplexed. How did he

:08:29. > :08:33.miss it? Managers are often judged on their substitutions and he has

:08:34. > :08:36.been positive and he has made two at half-time and the response has been

:08:37. > :08:50.immediate and his side should really be level.

:08:51. > :09:00.He is so disappointed with himself for not putting that in. He was

:09:01. > :09:03.probably three feet over. No wonder both managers are like on hot cold,

:09:04. > :09:25.they cannot settle. John Ruddy closed his legs on it in

:09:26. > :09:31.time. He did well because he could have been nutmeg. He closed his legs

:09:32. > :09:38.like a pair of scissors just in the nick of time. It is just one of

:09:39. > :09:42.those days it seems for Steve Clarke. A shrug of the shoulders as

:09:43. > :10:04.if to say, we are doing everything but score.

:10:05. > :10:14.That was so clean. John Ruddy hurled himself at it, but he knew he could

:10:15. > :10:24.not get to it. He cannot relax yet, that is for sure.

:10:25. > :10:35.A good save by John Ruddy. He moved from the centre to the corner of his

:10:36. > :10:39.net and clawed it away. This second half is relentless. There has hardly

:10:40. > :10:55.been an opportunity to draw breath. And they have done it. Chris Hughton

:10:56. > :11:00.can celebrate. Leroy Fer has confirmed that after all those

:11:01. > :11:06.disappointing awaydays, seven at Manchester city, five at Liverpool,

:11:07. > :11:10.for defeat in a row on their travels, that run is going to come

:11:11. > :11:16.to an end with a victory at the Hawthorns. Leroy Fer with the

:11:17. > :11:20.second, doubling the advantage. They may have ridden their luck along the

:11:21. > :11:25.way, but you cannot fault their efforts or endeavours and he

:11:26. > :11:33.deserves that change of fortune. Well done, Norwich. It was a game

:11:34. > :11:37.with first goal was always going to be critical in terms of confidence

:11:38. > :11:43.for the team who got it. Norwich got it and they were able to sit in a

:11:44. > :11:47.little bit. We took a big risk at half-time and we created a number of

:11:48. > :11:53.chances in the second half. We had to get the game to 1-1 with the we

:11:54. > :11:59.had. I spoke to the Norwich manager Chris Hughton.

:12:00. > :12:09.Thank you very much for talking to us. It was almost an old-fashioned

:12:10. > :12:15.6-point in a way. It was also one of those old-fashioned battles against

:12:16. > :12:19.a side that in the end were playing with five forward to try to get back

:12:20. > :12:26.in the game and consequently we were able to catch them on the counter.

:12:27. > :12:31.But a real tough game and I am happy because of the response after

:12:32. > :12:36.midweek. You have bounced back which must show you have character in the

:12:37. > :12:42.side. It shows character in the side and we are delighted with the clean

:12:43. > :12:46.sheet. This was a very good side and they had very good defensive

:12:47. > :12:51.options. We knew we had to try to keep a clean sheet and be a bit more

:12:52. > :12:56.solid. If I look at midweek, you come up against a side and an

:12:57. > :13:00.individual and it is not your day. We made errors midweek and there is

:13:01. > :13:07.no doubt about that, but sometimes you have to put that aside and we

:13:08. > :13:11.look forward to the next game. Two of your new signings scored the

:13:12. > :13:17.goals and you must be delighted with their progress. They are both

:13:18. > :13:21.getting stronger. It has been difficult for Gary Hooper because he

:13:22. > :13:25.got injured at the wrong time, one week before the season. Being a

:13:26. > :13:30.striker yourself, you will see some of the qualities he has got. But

:13:31. > :13:35.with any striker if they get a run of games in the team they will score

:13:36. > :13:41.goals. I am delighted for Gary. Leroy founded tough midweek against

:13:42. > :13:48.quality and he has come up trumps again with a goal. Your goalkeeper

:13:49. > :13:53.was outstanding. I am really pleased for John, the fact he has become a

:13:54. > :13:59.regular in the England squad and he is there on merit and today you saw

:14:00. > :14:05.the reason why. Congratulations. It was an excellent reaction to a

:14:06. > :14:12.midweek pounding from Luis Suarez to come and win that game and keep a

:14:13. > :14:19.clean sheet. Norwich pushed everything at them. I

:14:20. > :14:24.was surprised with West Brom with leaving Long out. They had a lot of

:14:25. > :14:28.possession. They are in a sticky spell at this moment in time. They

:14:29. > :14:35.have won one in nine. Norwich, you are absolutely right, great

:14:36. > :14:40.character. They did get a thrash on Wednesday. They have reacted very

:14:41. > :14:45.well. Redmond into Fer, his three signings, good ball from Fer to

:14:46. > :14:50.Hooper. Excellent finish. Redmond, left hand side. Fer getting forward.

:14:51. > :14:54.Lovely ball into the space. He is left one-on-one. West Brom are

:14:55. > :15:00.looking to push forward here. It's an excellent finish. A great win for

:15:01. > :15:07.Chris Hughton. Very good. D back very well indeed.

:15:08. > :15:15.-- bounced back very well indeed. Crystal Palace's three victories

:15:16. > :15:18.this season have come under three different managers after Tony Pulis

:15:19. > :15:21.opened his account against West Ham in midweek. Today they took on

:15:22. > :15:25.Cardiff as the two sides met for the first time in the top flight of

:15:26. > :15:28.English football. John Roder was at Selhurst Park. The midweek victory

:15:29. > :15:32.over West Ham has given Palace a huge boost. The Eagles will move

:15:33. > :15:41.within a point of Cardiff if they defeat the Welsh side today. Chamakh

:15:42. > :15:52.got the winner here against West Ham on Tuesday.

:15:53. > :16:12.COMMENTATOR: , here is Whittingham, to get passed the referee as well.

:16:13. > :16:18.It was a good one as well from Fraizer Campbell. Denied by Speroni.

:16:19. > :16:29.Inside the opening couple of minutes at Selhurst Park, Campbell in the

:16:30. > :16:37.middle allowed a free headerer. -- header. Jerome is onside. He is

:16:38. > :16:43.goalside as well of the defender, Turner. He can't get the shot away.

:16:44. > :16:51.Picked up by Puncheon. Nice turn. The opening goal, Cameron Jerome.

:16:52. > :16:56.What a start for Crystal Palace. Cameron Jerome scores against his

:16:57. > :17:01.former side. It's his first goal since early February. His first goal

:17:02. > :17:07.for Palace, a huge one for the London side. Puncheon with the turn

:17:08. > :17:11.here. He was able to get the ball in. There will surely be a few

:17:12. > :17:14.question abouts Cardiff's marking here.

:17:15. > :17:21.Eight of Cardiff's 11 Premier League goals this season have come in the

:17:22. > :17:26.second-half of matches. Although, only four of their goals in total

:17:27. > :17:36.this season have come away from home. Chamakh gets the touch on to

:17:37. > :17:41.Bannan. Bannan looking for the top corner, it was always a shot veering

:17:42. > :17:48.away from goal. A nice flick on here from Chamakh who knew Bannan was

:17:49. > :17:55.right behind him. On the right of the picture there Crystal Palace's

:17:56. > :17:58.new sporting director, Ian Moone up against old friends today, having

:17:59. > :18:07.been employed at Cardiff until a short time ago.

:18:08. > :18:17.Jerome with the shot. Just pushed wide at the last moment by Marshall.

:18:18. > :18:20.Cameron Jerome with a burst of acceleration. It got a deflection on

:18:21. > :18:33.the way through as well. Here's Bannan. Crossed into towards

:18:34. > :18:40.Jerome. Falls here to Chamakh, 2-0, Crystal Palace. Two goals in a week

:18:41. > :18:45.for Marouane Chamakh. Bannan with the teasing cross in, cleared only

:18:46. > :18:51.as far as Chamakh. One touch to control, one touch to slot it in

:18:52. > :18:56.past Marshall. It has given them valuable breathing space against

:18:57. > :19:18.Cardiff. Crystal Palace 2, Cardiff City, nil. Here's Mutch, Campbell,

:19:19. > :19:23.goal-side here of Gabbidon. Reinforcements have arrived. This is

:19:24. > :19:31.Cardiff's best chance since the early miss from Campbell.

:19:32. > :19:42.Jerome. Got away from Turner, Jerome with the shot. A touch off the

:19:43. > :19:48.defender last of all. Cameron Jerome unable to get the shot on target

:19:49. > :19:54.because of the block. Bannan with the corner. Header towards goal.

:19:55. > :19:58.Turned in, was it Jerome? No. Cameron Jerome is claiming it.

:19:59. > :20:03.Marshall has kept the ball out. It remains 2-0. Cameron Jerome claiming

:20:04. > :20:08.here that the ball had crossed the goal-line. But, as you can see here,

:20:09. > :20:10.David Marshall able to prevent it from doing so. That is the correct

:20:11. > :20:26.decision from the officials. Picked up by Bannan. Jerome! The

:20:27. > :20:30.wrong side of the post. Cameron Jerome, who has been a threat to

:20:31. > :20:37.Cardiff all afternoon, coming close to another goal for the home side.

:20:38. > :20:46.Away from Caulker. Puncheon, right across goal. It almost was an

:20:47. > :20:51.own-goal there. Turner with the final touch, very relieved that the

:20:52. > :20:56.ball ended up sailing over his own crossbar. That's a scene you

:20:57. > :21:01.wouldn't have sooen earlier this season from Crystal Palace fans.

:21:02. > :21:05.Huge celebrations. What a run they are on under Tony Pulis. It's not

:21:06. > :21:11.been Cardiff's day. Five matches without a win now for Cardiff. We

:21:12. > :21:19.started very sloppy. They could have scored after a couple of minutes. A

:21:20. > :21:22.great save by Speroni. From that point onwards I thought we really,

:21:23. > :21:26.really dominated the game and deserved to win. Concerned are you

:21:27. > :21:30.of the lack of goals of late from your team Not particularly in terms

:21:31. > :21:33.of overall how the boys are. You have to be clinical and take your

:21:34. > :21:36.chances when they come. If we weren't creating chances I would be

:21:37. > :21:41.more worried. I have people there that I know can score goals.

:21:42. > :21:48.Overall, it's about us getting back on to it again and just being

:21:49. > :21:52.clinical in that final third. Today's match day programme you have

:21:53. > :21:56.been keen to set the record straight and can you do so again today that

:21:57. > :22:00.you didn't have a fall out with him? No, the press are the press, they

:22:01. > :22:07.make a big deal out of everything you say. When he left the football

:22:08. > :22:12.club I said one or two things on the... Saying I thought I could have

:22:13. > :22:17.played a few more games under him. I'm glad he is here. He know what is

:22:18. > :22:21.I can do. I'm starting to show my performances in the team as as well.

:22:22. > :22:27.Win for Crystal Palace. Tony Pulis seems to have made an immediate

:22:28. > :22:31.difference. A real affect. Chamakh showing something of the form that

:22:32. > :22:36.we saw often when he was in France? I'm not Chamakh's biggest fan. I've

:22:37. > :22:41.had a go at him on this programme a few times. Today he was fantastic.

:22:42. > :22:48.Led from the front, winning tackles, getting flick ones. Him and Jerome

:22:49. > :22:52.were the difference. Euthusiastic, winning tackles. The goal, he gets

:22:53. > :22:57.himself in a fantastic position. As you see, just in between the lines,

:22:58. > :23:03.takes it on his left foot, lays it out wide. He gets in the box.

:23:04. > :23:07.Desire, great position there. Again, a great first touch. Fantastic

:23:08. > :23:12.finish. Great finish. Set the standard now. The fans have seen

:23:13. > :23:16.that today. Amazing difference confidence makes in a player?

:23:17. > :23:19.Confidence in a player makes all the difference. Carp difficult can't

:23:20. > :23:25.score at all, four-and-a-half hours without a goal? Very frustrating as

:23:26. > :23:28.they have seen his side beat Swansea and Manchester City. That is the

:23:29. > :23:33.problem at this level. You have to be consistent or you get punished.

:23:34. > :23:38.Certainly true. Thank you very much indeed gentlemen. We asked you which

:23:39. > :23:42.striker you thought was better, Luis Suarez or Sergio Aguero. You voted.

:23:43. > :23:48.There it is. Suarez comes out well on top with 77%, Aguero, 23%. Before

:23:49. > :23:53.we leave you let us look at the Barclays Premier League table: It

:23:54. > :23:58.was a good day for Arsenal who will go seven points clear if they beat

:23:59. > :24:01.Everton. Liverpool overtake Chelsea and Manchester City. Manchester

:24:02. > :24:07.United are seven points adrift of fourth place. Sunderland remain

:24:08. > :24:12.bottom, Crystal Palace climb to 18th with goal difference separating them

:24:13. > :24:18.from West Ham. The Eagles are in striking distance of Cardiff and

:24:19. > :24:21.West Brom. The Independent says England's World Cup opener against

:24:22. > :24:25.Italy has been brought forward three hours against the wishes of Roy

:24:26. > :24:30.Hodgson. The Times warns England to watch out for Suarez, we know that,

:24:31. > :24:45.Hodgson wants drinks breaks at the tournament. We finish with a little
