:00:41. > :00:47.This week we're here in lovely Leicester with some

:00:48. > :00:50.very special guests - Serge Pizzorno and Tom Meigham

:00:51. > :00:52.from local heroes Kasabian and our very own chart-topper,

:00:53. > :00:56.Coming up on tonight's show, as we're in town we've sent

:00:57. > :00:59.Steve Bower to talk to Leicester's number one - Kasper Schmeichel -

:01:00. > :01:02.about the champions' difficult second season.

:01:03. > :01:05.Liverpool lad Louis Berry meets the voice of Anfield, George Sephton.

:01:06. > :01:11.And author James Brown waxes lyrical about his love of five-a-side.

:01:12. > :01:25.Here is what has been happening in the Premier League over the past

:01:26. > :01:33.seven days. It is a red card for marrow and Fellini. What went on in

:01:34. > :01:38.his head? What a good goal for Vardy. Three points for Leicester

:01:39. > :01:45.City virtually ensures them of Premier League football next season.

:01:46. > :01:49.After ten successive seasons in the Premier League Sunderland's fate is

:01:50. > :02:07.sealed. I feel for the supporters. Who come to watch regularly.

:02:08. > :02:13.Swansea, whose superb goal! Maybe I can bring Nicky but with the other

:02:14. > :02:22.23. You're punished because you are doing well. Fantastic goal. Who can

:02:23. > :02:37.stop Antonio Conte and Chelsea? It is in. Dele Alli has turned it in.

:02:38. > :02:48.Tottenham two, Arsenal zero. Adam Lallana give that back. Lucas.

:02:49. > :02:55.Fabulous goal! Spectacular acrobatics. Lucas floated across and

:02:56. > :03:12.towards him. He saw it coming a mile off. Liverpool take a massive bed

:03:13. > :03:18.towards the Champions League next season Pochettino said it was almost

:03:19. > :03:25.the perfect performance. Chelsea are not letting up. That is going to the

:03:26. > :03:32.manager, his enthusiasm. The quality of player as reared its head.

:03:33. > :03:36.Defence is good. They have added to it and nicked one of their players

:03:37. > :03:43.and added to that quality which has been a huge part of the difference.

:03:44. > :03:52.Do you have a preference as to which two of these would win the title. Do

:03:53. > :04:02.you feel a soft spot for Chelsea? If I see Eden Hazard I would give him a

:04:03. > :04:10.big test. When Chelsea finished eighth last year without Kante, and

:04:11. > :04:17.this year we are probably going to finish eight or nine without Kante.

:04:18. > :04:25.He is that important because he does what food you -- football people

:04:26. > :04:31.know as the ugly job. He will do all the work that flair players do not

:04:32. > :04:34.want to do. The other big talking point was the overhead kick, some

:04:35. > :04:42.people saying it should be goal of the season. It is goal of the

:04:43. > :04:51.season. Yes, the angle he has taken it at, top corner. It is all right.

:04:52. > :05:01.Overhead kicks are ten a penny. You have scored a few. Two. That is it.

:05:02. > :05:08.It is from behind him. It is not from a cross. Great connection,

:05:09. > :05:13.great timing. Against Grimsby. So the cake. I am not sure we can dig

:05:14. > :05:20.down that far in the archives. Jamie Vardy's goal against West Brom

:05:21. > :05:23.at the weekend took Leicester City over the magical 40 point mark,

:05:24. > :05:25.capping a remarkable turnaround for the Foxes

:05:26. > :05:27.under Craig Shakespeare. It's been a tumultuous season

:05:28. > :05:30.for the Foxes following last season's title win and Steve Bower

:05:31. > :05:47.has been to see Kasper Schmeichel. Eden Hazard! Leicester City are

:05:48. > :05:52.champions. For the champions Leicester the opening day is full of

:05:53. > :05:57.optimism. The first reigning champions to lose their first game

:05:58. > :06:06.since 1989. Liverpool four, Leicester one. Jermain Defoe, 2-1.

:06:07. > :06:13.The support of the club, the fans, everybody. Claudio Ranieri has been

:06:14. > :06:18.sacked. Many thought he would be given a full season. The board feels

:06:19. > :06:24.that a change of leadership business is silly in the club's greater

:06:25. > :06:28.interest. The assistant has spent up to take charge of the team,

:06:29. > :06:32.Shakespeare. Lovely goal. Brilliant from Leicester City. You have to say

:06:33. > :06:42.Leicester City looked like a completely different team. Vardy!

:06:43. > :06:46.Three points for Leicester City virtually ensures them of Premier

:06:47. > :06:51.League football next season. Strangely enough, as we City, a year

:06:52. > :06:57.to the day since you won the Premier League title, can you believe is a

:06:58. > :07:03.year? No. It has gone so quick, so much has happened. Disappointed not

:07:04. > :07:10.to be feeling that come you want that feeling back. It will be tough

:07:11. > :07:14.to watch someone else do that then. Is it something that you took in at

:07:15. > :07:18.the time of visit when you look back at the seams and you appreciate the

:07:19. > :07:24.magnitude of what happened? It went so quick. It is an addictive

:07:25. > :07:32.feeling. Nothing can replicate the sense of euphoria, the overwhelming

:07:33. > :07:41.feelings that flood in when the moment comes, and it is something

:07:42. > :07:43.you want to experience again. I had probably three weeks of celebrating

:07:44. > :07:51.and enjoying it and after that it is, OK, I had a talk with my dad

:07:52. > :07:53.about what it was like and he said there will be a period of

:07:54. > :07:58.celebration and there will be a void when you are past celebrating and

:07:59. > :08:01.you are thinking about the new season and then your head switches

:08:02. > :08:07.to the new season and all that is gone. I think it is one of those

:08:08. > :08:10.when you look back and maybe ten years and the lads get together and

:08:11. > :08:14.you think, that was quite incredible what we achieved. When you look back

:08:15. > :08:23.at the season how do you feel about it? It has been tough, a tough

:08:24. > :08:28.season, we have struggled. We are not quite safe mathematically. We

:08:29. > :08:34.took a big step on Saturday. Next Saturday we are going to need to

:08:35. > :08:37.take another big step towards that. You have to look at the Champions

:08:38. > :08:47.League campaign. We have done ourselves proud the two Seville

:08:48. > :08:51.games were amazing experiences, those Champions League nights are

:08:52. > :08:55.special. The Premier League is amazing, there is something about

:08:56. > :08:59.the night games and going away from home, different cities, different

:09:00. > :09:04.types of football, hearing the music, something that makes it

:09:05. > :09:10.unique. Realistically where did you expect the team to be in the league?

:09:11. > :09:14.It was all was going to be tough. At the start of the season the top

:09:15. > :09:18.eight, you would have taken that without question. Eight is still a

:09:19. > :09:25.realistic possibility for us with the games remaining. That has to be

:09:26. > :09:30.our target. How tough for the first four or five months when things were

:09:31. > :09:34.not going your way? It is very important not to get too high or too

:09:35. > :09:37.low in football. You have to roll with the punches and look at

:09:38. > :09:41.yourself and see if you are doing everything you can to help the team

:09:42. > :09:44.to get the results we need, and that was the period of reflection when I

:09:45. > :09:49.was looking at my performances to make sure I was doing everything I

:09:50. > :09:54.could to help the team. Good chip over by Schmeichel. During that

:09:55. > :09:59.period, the man who takes the brunt of the criticism is the manager. How

:10:00. > :10:05.did you feel that the man who had led you to the Premier League was

:10:06. > :10:11.getting all the criticism? It is always tough to see. We felt it all

:10:12. > :10:15.the way through the club. We had set the standard and we were not living

:10:16. > :10:19.up to it. We were not playing well as players. The manager takes the

:10:20. > :10:25.brunt and that is unfortunate because you cannot get rid of a full

:10:26. > :10:30.squad of players, and sometimes that is the life of a manager which is

:10:31. > :10:32.very harsh sometimes. What was the overriding emotion for you

:10:33. > :10:39.personally when Claudio Ranieri lost his job? You do not want to see

:10:40. > :10:44.anybody lose his job. I was upset. I was not quite embarrassed but we

:10:45. > :10:47.were champions of England and we were not getting to the level we

:10:48. > :10:52.knew we could be because they had set the standard. It was a horrible

:10:53. > :10:56.situation. The players were accused of all sorts of things. Was the

:10:57. > :11:01.feeling you had to set the record straight? We know the truth and the

:11:02. > :11:07.club. We do not have to read papers. You read story sometimes during the

:11:08. > :11:11.season and you think, where has that come from and you know it is the

:11:12. > :11:16.complete opposite. There was anger and frustration in the sense that we

:11:17. > :11:21.had not performed on the pitch and that had led to their son that was

:11:22. > :11:27.tough to take and we had to write it. We have gone a long way to doing

:11:28. > :11:31.that. We have not quite done yet. Can players get the manager out of

:11:32. > :11:36.the football club? Is that possible in the modern day? I have never

:11:37. > :11:41.heard of it. I would not be able to see. These guys that run football

:11:42. > :11:47.clubs are very successful businessman away from football, used

:11:48. > :11:51.in making very tough decisions. Our owner is no different, he is used to

:11:52. > :11:56.success in his life. He knew the decision would make him unpopular

:11:57. > :12:02.but that is what he did. We as players have to respect that and get

:12:03. > :12:05.on with it. We bear our share of the blame for performances on the pitch

:12:06. > :12:10.but we would not be able to influence a guy like that. How much

:12:11. > :12:16.credit for Shakespeare to suddenly go and settle what was choppy

:12:17. > :12:22.waters? Craig has been here for a long time. He knows his ideas of

:12:23. > :12:27.what he thought needed to be done. He has not really changed, it has

:12:28. > :12:32.been about trying to get the spirits up and trying to get everyone firing

:12:33. > :12:38.again. Leicester City have their first goal in 2017 and the Premier

:12:39. > :12:43.League. It has mostly been about spirit, it has not been about

:12:44. > :12:47.tactics. We know where we are on it and pressing and fluid and dynamic

:12:48. > :12:51.we are going to be tough to play against regardless of who we play

:12:52. > :12:57.in. It was the question of him saying, do it, if we feel we feel

:12:58. > :13:00.but let us feel trying. If we are going to go down and we are going to

:13:01. > :13:09.go down all guns blazing. It has turned for us, expected a acts in a

:13:10. > :13:13.row. Leicester within seven minutes are two clear already. You have been

:13:14. > :13:20.here a long time. Value going back to the days of Falkirk, are you

:13:21. > :13:24.where you want to be? Yes. Walking out at Atletico Madrid in the

:13:25. > :13:27.Champions League quarterfinal remembering back in the days of

:13:28. > :13:32.playing in League Two and the Scottish Premier League back then

:13:33. > :13:36.you realise that is the pinnacle of world football and you are there and

:13:37. > :13:39.you have earned the right to be there by beating some very good

:13:40. > :13:47.teams. Schmeichel managed to scoop it up. What a save by Schmeichel.

:13:48. > :13:55.What has the journey been like? Or that any other goalkeepers other

:13:56. > :14:00.than Europe other you have tried to learn from? I am obsessed with

:14:01. > :14:06.goalkeeping. Watching my dad back in the day, I have studied him down to

:14:07. > :14:13.the minutest detail. I have done the same with other keepers. I regularly

:14:14. > :14:17.spend two hours a day watching different goalkeepers, different

:14:18. > :14:19.things, watching training, to try to see if there is anything I can

:14:20. > :14:28.improve. Who have played in the Champions

:14:29. > :14:33.League, is there any burning desire to do that again? More than ever.

:14:34. > :14:37.And of course we can, not this season but that is something I hoped

:14:38. > :14:42.would come earlier in my career but the journey I have taken has made me

:14:43. > :14:48.appreciate it much more but has made me want it even more. Dion predicted

:14:49. > :14:53.Lester would be fine a few months ago, when a lot of people were not

:14:54. > :15:01.sure, so is a great belief in the Kasabian has sold? It has been a

:15:02. > :15:05.strange season, what a strange season. Fighting relegation whilst

:15:06. > :15:13.in the quarterfinals of the Champions League? That was bizarre,

:15:14. > :15:18.surreal. And losing the manager, the fairy tale came to an end and it was

:15:19. > :15:29.getting your head around that and then thinking, it could be playing

:15:30. > :15:33.Yeovil next season! Was a bit iffy, where the romance and pragmatism

:15:34. > :15:37.were fighting each other? You would have great love for Claudio Ranieri?

:15:38. > :15:46.You were part of that celebration last year? I hope they are wrecked a

:15:47. > :15:50.statue. A golden statue outside the stadium! After the season we have

:15:51. > :15:57.had, and we did win the Premier League... It won't happen again, it

:15:58. > :16:01.just won't, and he did that but looking at that from the stands, the

:16:02. > :16:10.belief in the man was not there and when they changed, five games on the

:16:11. > :16:15.spin. As fans and musicians, you are so linked to the club, you were

:16:16. > :16:21.there as part of the concert, the celebrations, what was that like?

:16:22. > :16:28.Amazing, when in the Premier League and doing that stadium, you had to

:16:29. > :16:35.do it there and then. We were booked to play it this year but then it

:16:36. > :16:42.was, like, we cannot. It would have felt weird after the Lord Mayor 's

:16:43. > :16:46.show! If you were not Kasabian, if things did not happen for you as a

:16:47. > :16:53.band, you would have still been there? Without doubt. That is

:16:54. > :17:01.incredible to know! Watching Dion Dublin's band! Speaking of the

:17:02. > :17:06.hives, you have an album out this week which you have said has a

:17:07. > :17:15.positivity in it, does that come from that season? Were you writing

:17:16. > :17:20.it then? Yes, for a few months, everyone was alive. I went down

:17:21. > :17:26.after the Chelsea Spurs game and I went down to the ground, I felt like

:17:27. > :17:32.I needed to... 1238, I thought there would be some people there and there

:17:33. > :17:40.were about 15,000 people. This is amazing. Even when I came back on

:17:41. > :17:47.the odd occasion to see my family, every street, the flags, everybody

:17:48. > :17:52.was together, it was like one. With be be a Song that we can pinpoint,

:17:53. > :17:57.that was written the day that Leicester won the title? There is no

:17:58. > :18:04.football Song, really, but when you do a nice little montage, as I am

:18:05. > :18:13.sure you do on this show... You will use it! Comeback kid! Bringing it

:18:14. > :18:18.back to football, Craig Shakespeare, do you see him being in this for the

:18:19. > :18:25.long haul? He has to be the man to get a contract, he has to be the one

:18:26. > :18:29.that has taken them back. What he has done on the football side is he

:18:30. > :18:36.has stripped things back, get back to running a lot, working hard, for

:18:37. > :18:40.the fans, and a sprinkling of quality. Nothing special, just back

:18:41. > :18:48.to working hard. And that is what they did and they won the league. He

:18:49. > :18:56.has been amazing. Why mess things up? Shakespeare, for me. I would

:18:57. > :19:00.agree, there are shouts for a baby names, but that could be a big

:19:01. > :19:04.mistake because the results have been incredible and hopefully we can

:19:05. > :19:08.keep Schmeichel and Mahrez. We will see. OK.

:19:09. > :19:11.George Sephton has been house DJ at Liverpool for nearly half

:19:12. > :19:13.a century and has been instrumental in debuting a number

:19:14. > :19:16.We sent up-and-coming Scouser Louis Berry to Anfield

:19:17. > :19:27.to try and play his way on to the list.

:19:28. > :19:34.Most musicians dream of playing at Glastonbury but there is only one

:19:35. > :19:36.better Place as a football fan, I am a Liverpool fan and that place is

:19:37. > :19:49.Anfield. I have heard a rumour that they

:19:50. > :19:53.might start playing might lead to strike on matchday so I have come

:19:54. > :19:57.here to meet the voice of Anfield to find out what is going on. The

:19:58. > :20:02.longest serving stadium announcer in the country, George Sephton has

:20:03. > :20:13.provided commentary at Liverpool for 45 years. That is some view.

:20:14. > :20:18.Fantastic. I started with Bill Shankly and I lasted about 15

:20:19. > :20:31.managers. Digging tracks from 46 years? Some of those musicians, busy

:20:32. > :20:35.times, the coral, big, local bands. How important is the music on

:20:36. > :20:46.matchday? The derby matches, I like to pick big tub thumping rock. You

:20:47. > :20:50.will never walk alone? To this day the hairs stand up on my neck.

:20:51. > :20:59.Everybody is on their feet, singing. Amazing. # You'll never walk

:21:00. > :21:07.alone... What are the chances of getting my latest track on the

:21:08. > :21:26.playlist? Deaths have a listen. -- let us have. # To get overly... #

:21:27. > :21:43.It's all right... # I'm only trying to figure out... # To get over you.

:21:44. > :22:00.# She says he needs me... On the counterattack with six minutes gone!

:22:01. > :22:04.That will be on the playlist. My track will be on the playlist, I

:22:05. > :22:15.will be listening out at the next match. # La-la-la-la! Music and

:22:16. > :22:21.football, there isn't a band in the world that is so synonymous with

:22:22. > :22:25.football as Kasabian? They love it, they participate and watch it,

:22:26. > :22:30.proper advance. I have heard that Serge is a bit of a player as well.

:22:31. > :22:34.Tom is working on it. You cannot write a Song thinking this will

:22:35. > :22:42.sound good in a football stadium? You probably can't! We have done

:22:43. > :22:48.that a few times! When you started out, did you think that? Definitely.

:22:49. > :22:54.If you can see yourself standing in front of the speakers, with your

:22:55. > :23:00.arms like that... You get the sense of that, you can feel it. When at

:23:01. > :23:07.ground and you hear hear one of her songs being sung in the stands, what

:23:08. > :23:13.does that feel like? I join in, a singalong. It makes all of my hair

:23:14. > :23:18.stand up, goose pimples. I love that feeling, and the fans are next to

:23:19. > :23:26.you. Especially when we keep scoring, like last year. It is a

:23:27. > :23:29.great feeling. It is weird, Dillon said, songs dress up in their own

:23:30. > :23:34.clothes and start to walk around on their own and it is true, you cannot

:23:35. > :23:40.stop them. What did you like to listen to in the dressing room? My

:23:41. > :23:47.taste has always been at odds with my team-mates, I have always been a

:23:48. > :23:54.jazzman. Avant-garde jazz! All over the place! All the land liked R I

:23:55. > :24:00.kept my music away from the players. Did they play it? They didn't

:24:01. > :24:06.understand it! The result was music in there. And the music the boys

:24:07. > :24:10.play is very much to get you ready for a game. OK...

:24:11. > :24:12.The FA estimate that over 1.5 million adults a week play

:24:13. > :24:15.Author and journalist James Brown loves it so much

:24:16. > :24:28.But what lies at the heart of astroturf dreams?

:24:29. > :24:35.As a Premier League reaches its climax, there is another footballing

:24:36. > :24:39.world scoring goal after goal regardless of whether the

:24:40. > :24:44.professionals are on holiday. Every week in Britain, over a million

:24:45. > :24:50.people run onto AstroTurf pitches and hard wooden gym floors. Keen to

:24:51. > :24:56.score goals that in our minds are easily as good as those of our

:24:57. > :25:09.heroes. It is a world of fake grass pitches, bad gets... And funny team

:25:10. > :25:16.names. Benteke fried chicken! 24-hour Vardy people! Our shirts are

:25:17. > :25:21.tied around our bellies, our fitness is nonexistent. The warm up is

:25:22. > :25:28.something we saw on television 15 years ago. We had out of work early

:25:29. > :25:36.to get to the games, stealing the odd hour he ran there, wet winter

:25:37. > :25:40.nights, any time we play. That rare time and place when we get to see

:25:41. > :25:47.our friends, even if that is what we know what the other players' names

:25:48. > :25:52.are. We will beat them. I have been playing for 17 years and I only know

:25:53. > :25:56.what two of them do for a living. Non-players don't understand, they

:25:57. > :26:01.only see the time spent and the physical toll. I have a groin

:26:02. > :26:05.strain. Maybe they can't tolerate the dirty kit left in the bag all
