:00:43. > :00:49.Coming up on tonight's show, we throw the spotlight
:00:50. > :00:53.on N'Golo Kante - the beating heart of Antonio Conte's stellar midfield,
:00:54. > :01:03.Dele Alli takes a taxi to training with Lloyd Griffith.
:01:04. > :01:06.Is this your caravan? That is my one.
:01:07. > :01:10.Dan Walker chats with a genuine Premier League legend.
:01:11. > :01:15.And Manchester band Prose let us into their matchday secret.
:01:16. > :01:17.But first, here's what's been happening in the Premier League
:01:18. > :01:41.Sadio Mane, the season, over. Dele Alli! What a goal! What a season,
:01:42. > :01:47.what a player! It is very important for us to narrow the gap with
:01:48. > :01:57.Chelsea. Keep pushing. Chelsea are 3-1 up. Can anyone stop Antonio
:01:58. > :02:04.Conte's Chelsea? 1-0. Look at the relief! What a
:02:05. > :02:13.release of tension. It is a huge win and I congratulate the boys. Firmino
:02:14. > :02:22.one side. Oh, the Finnish! Simon Mignolet, or to save. He saved our
:02:23. > :02:28.lives today. Ibrahimovic shoots. And he beats Bigfoot. And it is a red
:02:29. > :02:34.card. Goodness me, that has come from nowhere. Today, I think the
:02:35. > :02:46.result was helped by the referee. Straight in! Lukaku! Jagielka again.
:02:47. > :02:54.Lukaku! Two for him. And four for Everton.
:02:55. > :03:08.He slips and stumbles. It is 2-0 to Crystal Palace! You don't think it
:03:09. > :03:14.is the affecting the players? The uncertainty surrounding you? No, I
:03:15. > :03:17.do think so. This is a manager who has managed the invincible is and he
:03:18. > :03:22.is managing the invisibles. N'Golo Kante was last
:03:23. > :03:24.season's surprise package - plucked from obscurity to anchor
:03:25. > :03:26.Leicester City's unlikely A summer move brought his
:03:27. > :03:30.tireless-running to Chelsea and he has reinvigorated
:03:31. > :03:32.the Blues midfield. Today saw the announcement
:03:33. > :03:34.of the short list for the PFA Player of the Year and,
:03:35. > :03:37.once again, Kante's name But how did it all begin
:03:38. > :04:07.for the diminutive Frenchman? N'Golo Kante was born in Paris that
:04:08. > :04:12.he grew up in the west suburbs of the city. Not the most dangerous
:04:13. > :04:19.council estate but a council estate with a huge sense of community. His
:04:20. > :04:28.dad was a cleaner and his mum was a refuse collector. His diet died when
:04:29. > :04:37.he was 11. His baby bit introverted. He started playing football nearby.
:04:38. > :04:40.There is an amazing picture of him winning player of the tournament.
:04:41. > :04:41.All the other boys are lifting his trophy and he is standing beside
:04:42. > :05:07.which shows his humility. He had to fight harder than
:05:08. > :05:10.everybody else. He had to run faster than everyone else. He had to tackle
:05:11. > :05:39.more than everybody else. The question is, Giroud, reasonably,
:05:40. > :05:42.all of them had to go through the lower leagues before making it to
:05:43. > :05:47.the big time which is what he did. When he was in the third division at
:05:48. > :05:51.belong, you could see when he broke into the first-team, there was
:05:52. > :05:54.something special about him. Someone rang the director and said, you have
:05:55. > :06:13.to come down, this player we have just something else.
:06:14. > :06:23.I do think I have seen a player with so many Man of the Match awards in a
:06:24. > :06:29.row than N'Golo Kante in the second division in France. What amazes me
:06:30. > :06:32.is Kante was setting such standards or interceptions and tackles that
:06:33. > :06:39.others were not on the case sooner, but it was certainly Leicester who
:06:40. > :06:45.had the jump on everybody else. Leicester said we are the English
:06:46. > :06:54.Kong, we want you to do the same job for Leicester that you did for Caen.
:06:55. > :07:02.Kante is very reserved and lives a simple life. His ex-flatmates at
:07:03. > :07:06.belong said they shared a flat free year and Kante hardly said a word to
:07:07. > :07:23.them. He just smiled. That sums it up.
:07:24. > :07:29.He was perfect for Leicester at that time, for Ranieri, for Vardy and all
:07:30. > :07:53.the players. He was pivotal to that game that
:07:54. > :08:00.Leicester had, counterattacking quickly and defending the ball and
:08:01. > :08:04.getting it forward. Because he can do the work of two players, he was
:08:05. > :08:09.able to be part of the defensive unit and also part of the attacking
:08:10. > :08:15.unit. His sheer game and intelligence, that overtime is what
:08:16. > :08:19.you see with Kante. He passed is A-levels and he got a degree in
:08:20. > :08:23.accounting as well. He could be an accountant now if he had not made it
:08:24. > :08:28.in football. I think the brain has always been key in his game. He has
:08:29. > :08:33.always thought more than everybody else. He has somehow made himself
:08:34. > :08:39.part of the defence and the attack at the same time. It is that ability
:08:40. > :08:45.that makes him different from something we have seen before. He is
:08:46. > :08:49.like McEnaney. It is extraordinary to see something new in football. I
:08:50. > :08:56.think the proof of Kante's importance has been this season in
:08:57. > :09:03.what Leicester lost and Chelsea gained. He felt lucky after two
:09:04. > :09:08.years at Caen for the next thing. Every next step, he delivers.
:09:09. > :09:12.Winning the Premier League and playing in the Euros for France
:09:13. > :09:19.shows everybody, you get it all wrong. He sees revenge for
:09:20. > :09:23.everything. Nobody believed in him as a kid. Despite being good,
:09:24. > :09:25.everyone said, you are too small, you are not good enough. He says,
:09:26. > :09:41.look where I am now. There is that old British view that
:09:42. > :09:45.the midfielder has to score goals, he has to be spectacular to be a top
:09:46. > :09:48.player. I think if you have not watched Kante closely, you might
:09:49. > :09:53.just think he is a guy who runs about and makes tackles. If you do
:09:54. > :09:58.watching closely, you get it. I think as time goes on more of us
:09:59. > :10:04.will see more of him and understand how good he is. He is a freak. He's
:10:05. > :10:08.a freak of nature. He's different probably to anything else they have
:10:09. > :10:12.seen. From where he started in that council estate to where he got with
:10:13. > :10:13.Leicester, to where he is getting with Chelsea, I think he deserves it
:10:14. > :10:24.all and it is a wonder. A. Last year's PFA Young Player
:10:25. > :10:26.of the Year, Dele Alli, enjoyed a superb debut
:10:27. > :10:28.Premier League campaign This season, he's
:10:29. > :10:30.continued to shine. We sent Lloyd Griffith
:10:31. > :10:42.to give him a lift to training. Taxi? I will get the bus.
:10:43. > :10:45.My name is Lloyd Griffith, I am at Grimsby Town fan and I am a taxi
:10:46. > :10:49.driver for Premier League footballers. The person I'm picking
:10:50. > :10:54.up today, not only does he play for one of the best teams in the
:10:55. > :11:01.country, he is also very much in the England setup. So I reckon I am
:11:02. > :11:14.picking him up from a pretty sweet gap, although... A caravan park. It
:11:15. > :11:22.is Dele Alli. Hello, mate. Look at this place. How long have you lived
:11:23. > :11:31.here? A couple of years. Is this your caravan? That is mine. How many
:11:32. > :11:36.rooms? Two ensuite bedrooms. Let's just so you have had a easy day, it
:11:37. > :11:43.is a Saturday, you are tired, you get home, how does it work? Do you
:11:44. > :11:50.tuck yourself thin or does Eric do it for you? If one of us was to tuck
:11:51. > :11:59.the other in then Eric would be tucking me in. That is nice. Are you
:12:00. > :12:05.pro-yes-macro for life? Whatever happens, we are staying together.
:12:06. > :12:09.They have basically seen a range Rover behind us and they think there
:12:10. > :12:20.is a Tottenham player in there. This is it, you need to get one of these
:12:21. > :12:33.and no one will ask you -- U. Did you see that? That is so good. How
:12:34. > :12:39.did it come about? When I was in MK, I was talking to one of my friends,
:12:40. > :12:43.I waved at the camera, it was on Sky Sports and they used that clip and
:12:44. > :12:48.no one mentioned it and after I signed for Tottenham, all of a
:12:49. > :12:59.sudden, everyone had seen it. For me, it was just a normal wave. Gary
:13:00. > :13:04.Lineker has done us a quiz. Questions all about Tottenham
:13:05. > :13:10.Hotspur. What?! You play for them. But my football knowledge and the
:13:11. > :13:18.history is not very good. There is no backing out now, mate, literally,
:13:19. > :13:23.the doors are locked. Get ready to buzz. He was the last man before
:13:24. > :13:34.Harry Kane to win the Golden Boot for Spurs? Sheringham. Teddy
:13:35. > :13:46.Sheringham. Spurs' last trophy was the League Cup in 2008, but who did
:13:47. > :13:53.they beat? Cheltenham, Chelsea. Chelsea, 2-1. Which current Spurs
:13:54. > :14:00.player scored a 35 yard screamer on their Premier League debut for Spurs
:14:01. > :14:07.against Arsenal? Danny Rose. Danny Rose. Question for, which Tottenham
:14:08. > :14:15.player was the only player to win a World Cup Golden Boot? I was
:14:16. > :14:27.changing gear. Gary Lineker. I knew you would get that right. A bit
:14:28. > :14:38.arrogant, Gary! Do not give me grief about that, they do not smell. We
:14:39. > :14:48.have got a traffic jam. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven...
:14:49. > :15:00.21. One away. Last go. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
:15:01. > :15:14.eight, nine, ten, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15... 28, 29, 30, 31... 35. 35. Oh
:15:15. > :15:23.my days. I will move Troy down and Curtis Davies down. Joel Ward. There
:15:24. > :15:28.he is. Dele on 35. Now one of my dreams, well a couple. To be a
:15:29. > :15:31.proprofessional footballer and to have a hand shake with Dele. Do you
:15:32. > :15:38.think you can make that dream a reality? We can do one. I have eseen
:15:39. > :15:42.it but you will a very to talk me through T Side up, side down. Like
:15:43. > :15:54.that. But you need to be more fluent. Like this. I'm driving. Duh
:15:55. > :16:03.duh. It slides away and you do that. There we go. Yes, he won't be happy
:16:04. > :16:12.that I've done that with someone else. Oh my days. Mate, like this is
:16:13. > :16:19.Centre Parcs. It's ridiculous. Here we are, it's ?18. That's all right.
:16:20. > :16:26.Cheers mate. I oh, I thought you were going to give me the hand
:16:27. > :16:29.shake. No. Oh. One second. Yes, mate, that will do. That's more than
:16:30. > :16:37.any money you can give me. Cheers. And you can see more of Lloyd's taxi
:16:38. > :16:45.journeys at BBC Three online. Considered the big game player,
:16:46. > :16:48.Didier Drogba won four Premier League titles,
:16:49. > :16:50.four FA Cups, three League Cups and the Champions League
:16:51. > :16:52.in the blue of Chelsea. This week he's been back in London
:16:53. > :17:05.and talking to Dan Walker. COMMENTATOR: What a goal by Didier
:17:06. > :17:09.Drogba. Didier Drogba. Lovely to see you again. You've got some big news
:17:10. > :17:16.to announce. What do you want to say? COMMENTATOR: Drogba,
:17:17. > :17:21.magnificent. I'm moving to Arizona to a team. It is an ambitious
:17:22. > :17:26.programme to be part of MLS over the next few years. It is a good
:17:27. > :17:33.transition because I want to carry on playing but at the same time, I'm
:17:34. > :17:38.almost 40 and next year I'm going to be 40, so it is important for me to
:17:39. > :17:41.prepare the after-career and finish. What made you go for this
:17:42. > :17:46.opportunity, rather than, I'm sure you've been offered all sorts of
:17:47. > :17:51.jobs in roles all around the world. I could have' carried on playing. I
:17:52. > :18:03.had offers from England, from Premier League teams. Championship,
:18:04. > :18:07.China, India. But opportunity to own a team and be a player at the same
:18:08. > :18:15.time is unusual. Does it not make you sort of undropable? Can you
:18:16. > :18:20.imagine the manager coming to you and saying - now, Didier, you are
:18:21. > :18:26.not playing very well. I think it's important. I've been a player - I'm
:18:27. > :18:31.still a player but it is important to respect the decision of the
:18:32. > :18:34.manager. But I can help them with my experience and with my football
:18:35. > :18:42.knowledge, it is an honour and I'm really proud to be part of the team
:18:43. > :18:46.now. COMMENTATOR: Drogba, brilliant goal. Here we are, a beautiful day,
:18:47. > :18:51.Chelsea Harbour, you are back near the club where you've won all those
:18:52. > :18:55.titles, FA Cups and the Champions' League as well. How do you look back
:18:56. > :18:59.on your time at Chelsea now? I can see a massive smile that comes
:19:00. > :19:04.across your face? Yes, this is where we used to stay the night before the
:19:05. > :19:09.games. And we had a lot of lunches here and dinners, great moments,
:19:10. > :19:17.great moments. When you look back at your career, what I find interesting
:19:18. > :19:22.is you are always a man for the big occasion. There are lots of
:19:23. > :19:27.footballers, we know they are good footballers but they can't produce
:19:28. > :19:32.in a Cup final when it really matters. With five minutes to go n
:19:33. > :19:36.extra time, Drogba has scored for Chelsea. Is that a mentality thing?
:19:37. > :19:40.How did you managed to do that? As a kid when I was playing outside, on
:19:41. > :19:45.the streets or even on a football field, I would say - OK, last free
:19:46. > :19:50.kick, or last header, or last everything. And if I scored, we win.
:19:51. > :19:55.You know, so when I got the chance to play finals, that's the spirit I
:19:56. > :19:58.had. COMMENTATOR: A brilliant header by Didier Drogba and we're heading
:19:59. > :20:06.for extra time. To have the chance to score the goal in the 88th minute
:20:07. > :20:11.in that Champions' League final was unbelievable. You know. I think it's
:20:12. > :20:16.maybe one of the goals I did not expect. Thank God Juan Mata was
:20:17. > :20:21.there to make me believe it a bit more. Two more minutes and the rest
:20:22. > :20:25.is history. What do you make of the club you have to play for this
:20:26. > :20:32.season? It is good to see them at the level we expect them to be, you
:20:33. > :20:35.know. And it looks like we're going to be champions again. I can't wait
:20:36. > :20:39.again for Chelsea to play in the Champions' League next year. Bearing
:20:40. > :20:43.in mind the way they are playing this year with virtually the same
:20:44. > :20:47.team, what happened last year? You know, I think they just had a bad
:20:48. > :20:50.season. As players, we are also responsible for everything. It is
:20:51. > :21:05.easy to blame the manager. It is easy to get rid of one person, than
:21:06. > :21:09.to get rid of 22. ... I think so, he loves Chelsea. Bull he can recover
:21:10. > :21:16.from that. Yes, he is strong and powerful and can recover. Now the
:21:17. > :21:21.new team and Antonio Conte, is it all down to tactical change. What
:21:22. > :21:25.has he ing brought to the team? All down to his tactical change, and his
:21:26. > :21:28.mentality. You can see him on the bench and the way it is working, it
:21:29. > :21:36.is a combination of everything. Having a bad season last year, a lot
:21:37. > :21:41.to prove, for example, Edin, Diego and what they are doing now. They
:21:42. > :21:47.are now playing at the level we want them to be every time and it is
:21:48. > :21:49.fantastic to watch them play. Whenever you interview a Chelsea
:21:50. > :21:54.player and you mention Mr Conte, there is a smile on the fachls there
:21:55. > :22:00.is an appreciation of the job he does. -- -- Mr Kante, there is a
:22:01. > :22:08.smile on the face. There is an appreciation of the job he does.
:22:09. > :22:16.Would you give Player of the Year to him ahead of others? It is
:22:17. > :22:22.difficult. I think I would go for Kante the Player of the Year and
:22:23. > :22:27.then Hazard for another award. Let's talk about the man you say is your
:22:28. > :22:33.man, Hazard. How good could he be? Could he be on the level with the
:22:34. > :22:39.Ronaldos and the Messis? Right now I think he is about 75, 80% of his
:22:40. > :22:44.talent. That's quite scary for the opposition. That's a reality. I take
:22:45. > :22:48.it youp want to see him stay at Chelsea? I think it is important for
:22:49. > :22:53.Chelsea to keep their best players. If you want it win the Champions'
:22:54. > :22:58.League again, you need to keep your best players. One striker I want to
:22:59. > :23:05.talk to you about, young man, 23, Romelu Lukaku. Yes. Now Roberto
:23:06. > :23:10.Martinez, he used to be his boss at Everton, said he could be the best
:23:11. > :23:17.number 9 in the world. Is that right? Well, when you look at the
:23:18. > :23:20.statistics and his age and the way he is progressing, I think he could
:23:21. > :23:24.be right. Because there is a rumour out there that you are meant to be
:23:25. > :23:30.brokering this deal to get him back to chess else. Me? Have you not read
:23:31. > :23:39.that? Listen, if that was the case he would be in Chelsea already, a
:23:40. > :23:44.long time ago. The power of Drogba. Not the power of Drogba. It is just
:23:45. > :23:48.I know the fact that he loves Chelsea and this club needs people
:23:49. > :23:53.who feel something for the club and he does so - and more than, that he
:23:54. > :23:59.wants to prove that he can make it and you know I would be happy to see
:24:00. > :24:02.him again in a Chelsea skirt but you know, I don't decide for him. Nobody
:24:03. > :24:07.will decide for him. I think he already knows what he wants to do.
:24:08. > :24:11.Listen, it has been great to talk to you. If I haven't learnt anything
:24:12. > :24:15.else, I have learnt that when Drogba wants something to happen t happens,
:24:16. > :24:25.OK. Good to talk to you. OK thank you. Before we go, a look at the
:24:26. > :24:27.weekend's fixtures. 20 teams, ten games
:24:28. > :24:31.and anything can happen. Here's what we can
:24:32. > :24:31.look forward to... COMMENTATOR: Dele Alli, oh, what a
:24:32. > :24:50.goal and Josh King. 2-1 to Crystal Palace. An absolute
:24:51. > :24:55.cracker. What a start for Everton. Brilliant, brilliant for Burnley.
:24:56. > :25:13.Jermain Defoe. Put it in. A splendid opening goal.
:25:14. > :25:34.Swansea back in front. And it's 3-1. Three points to Southampton. Scalpel
:25:35. > :25:44.sharp. It's the second for Dawson. What a finish. A wonderful goal from
