:00:38. > :00:39.Hello and welcome to the Premier League show.

:00:40. > :00:42.Coming up this week: Gary, Alan, Wrighty and Danny add the finishing

:00:43. > :00:45.touches to their all-time Premier League XI.

:00:46. > :00:51.We hear from Juan Mata, whose Manchester United side

:00:52. > :00:55.And with the likes of Costa, Sanchez and Coutinho angling

:00:56. > :00:59.for big moves elsewhere, Liverpool fan Tom Price has

:01:00. > :01:01.some coping strategies for supporters about to lose

:01:02. > :01:09.With me to discuss it all are former Norwich, Blackburn,

:01:10. > :01:10.Chelsea and Celtic front man Chris Sutton.

:01:11. > :01:12.And Radio 1 Xtra DJ, Arsenal fan and champion

:01:13. > :01:14.of grass roots football, FA People's Cup Show

:01:15. > :01:28.Is the also have a club to offer the also have a club to offer? From the

:01:29. > :01:42.from the Wessex league. Congratulations to both of you. We

:01:43. > :01:48.will look the last seven days. Hopefully I will be able to score

:01:49. > :01:51.goals and I will do well for hopefully I will be able to score

:01:52. > :01:52.goals and I will do well for this club.

:01:53. > :02:10.LAUGHTER Three goals and under four three

:02:11. > :02:14.goals and under four a Man United rip their hosts apart. He has got he

:02:15. > :02:44.has got away. Mooy for Huddersfield Town. A sucker

:02:45. > :02:52.punch. Rooney with a shot, it is deflected and it's in! In the net by

:02:53. > :02:55.Rahane sterling. 200 league goals, Wayne Rooney. -- by Iraq even

:02:56. > :03:02.sterling. Wayne Rooney has announced his

:03:03. > :03:10.retirement from international football. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has

:03:11. > :03:22.signed a new one-year deal at Manchester United.

:03:23. > :03:27.Is this it for ever for Wayne Rooney at England or do you think we may

:03:28. > :03:37.see him in Russia next year? I think he has made a sensible

:03:38. > :03:42.decision, looking at his age and he wants to commit to Everton. This is

:03:43. > :03:46.a good move, he started so brightly this season and I feel he does not

:03:47. > :03:50.warrant a starting place in the England Jersey. He has married all

:03:51. > :03:54.of these things together and you will give it all for Everton. He

:03:55. > :03:59.looks like a different man this season, he is enjoying things and

:04:00. > :04:11.fans will be delighted? He has gone back to his Boyhood club, this is a

:04:12. > :04:14.book that has been written and he is so pleased to be back at Everton and

:04:15. > :04:17.as a fan I cannot imagine what it would be like to score goals for

:04:18. > :04:22.them and you can see that with Wayne Rooney, all of the fans are living

:04:23. > :04:27.through him. His Chelsea career affirming results, Conte, after

:04:28. > :04:31.Burnley? The rich huge question marks over what is going on at

:04:32. > :04:36.Chelsea, he was to bring more players into the club, supposedly.

:04:37. > :04:40.But they needed a performance and a response and they did that in

:04:41. > :04:43.typical fashion, organised, disciplined and they had that threat

:04:44. > :04:50.and that was a big win against Spurs. After that first result for

:04:51. > :04:54.Arsenal, that was a thriller to open the season, last weekend, the knives

:04:55. > :05:00.are out, Arsene Wenger must go. Where are you on this, Nick? He

:05:01. > :05:03.should have left at the end of last season, after winning the FA Cup.

:05:04. > :05:08.The fans would have been grateful for all of the work he has done but

:05:09. > :05:12.for another long two years and the cracks already appearing, he is

:05:13. > :05:17.under the pump once again and it can only get worse if we lose against

:05:18. > :05:21.Liverpool this began. And the pressure is definitely not on

:05:22. > :05:27.Huddersfield, what a great start? What a two games. The manager is

:05:28. > :05:34.superb and enthusiastic and that rubs off on to the players. Second

:05:35. > :05:38.favourite team? Because of Patrick Stewart and the various different

:05:39. > :05:40.Yorkshiremen you can see! Frank Worthington was a real boost to my

:05:41. > :05:42.Saturday! There's so much to discuss,

:05:43. > :05:44.we've not even mentioned They're top of the table,

:05:45. > :05:48.banging in goals, with the attention naturally falling on Romelu Lukaku

:05:49. > :05:49.and Paul Pogba. But more than playing his part

:05:50. > :06:10.is a softly spoken Spaniard. Pogba! Four! Manchester United have

:06:11. > :06:16.a flying start. It has been a great start to the season, winning 4-0 in

:06:17. > :06:20.those games and we are feeling great but we are calm. As a manager says,

:06:21. > :06:26.this is a beginning and we need to keep going. Lathan Ibrahimovic is

:06:27. > :06:33.back. How does he make the team feel? Great. Everybody knows what he

:06:34. > :06:43.can give us. His personality on and off the pitch and he can be a big

:06:44. > :06:47.boost for us. You can imagine he is very confident by himself and he can

:06:48. > :06:52.give us this confidence and he will be very important for our objective

:06:53. > :06:56.is to fight for the title. Happy day today. Do you feel the season is

:06:57. > :07:02.going in the right direction and you will get back to the level the club

:07:03. > :07:06.deserves to be at? Hopefully. When you know the manager and some of the

:07:07. > :07:11.players, their second gear with him, they are more confident and we know

:07:12. > :07:16.how he wants to work. You are more used to his personality so you can

:07:17. > :07:21.perform better so hopefully this year we can find the consistency we

:07:22. > :07:26.did not have last year in the Premier League and we can fight for

:07:27. > :07:30.this big trophy. What a contrast from last season. And the

:07:31. > :07:34.strengthening of that squad. Three from the four signings he was

:07:35. > :07:38.targeting, he was so pleased and everything is right in the world

:07:39. > :07:44.when Jose Mourinho is happy? Only two games, but they have been

:07:45. > :07:48.sensational games from United's point of view. They did score enough

:07:49. > :07:55.last season and they have added Lukaku. He stretches back for

:07:56. > :08:01.something which Ibrahimovic did not do and Matic, what is signing! Wider

:08:02. > :08:06.Chelsea let him go to their arrival? I don't think the manager wanted to

:08:07. > :08:12.sell him. He has made a massive impact on Paul Pogba, he looks much

:08:13. > :08:16.freer. Release the horses, when the manager says that after only two

:08:17. > :08:21.matches, the fans must be in heaven, we are scoring for fun, the players

:08:22. > :08:28.look incredibly physical, really strong and up for this? I have got a

:08:29. > :08:33.lot of United fan friends living in London, obviously! But they are very

:08:34. > :08:38.happy this season because they have gone for a few years of negative

:08:39. > :08:43.football and when Mourinho went United people were worried it would

:08:44. > :08:48.be parking the bus like Chelsea and it is not that this year, it is

:08:49. > :08:53.free-flowing. Do we have to wait for one of their title rivals to really

:08:54. > :08:57.assess their form? They have Leicester at home at the weekend.

:08:58. > :09:01.You think they will have enough to beat them but when they start

:09:02. > :09:06.playing Spurs and Chelsea and even Arsenal, we will have a much clearer

:09:07. > :09:08.picture. Even the Arsenals! Faint praise!

:09:09. > :09:11.Last week Gary Lineker and his panel of Alan Shearer,

:09:12. > :09:13.Ian Wright and Danny Murphy picked the goalkeeper and defenders

:09:14. > :09:16.for their all-time XI from 25 years of the Premier League.

:09:17. > :09:18.After much discussion they went with Peter Schmeichel in goal

:09:19. > :09:21.and a very familiar back four of Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand,

:09:22. > :09:26.This week they're picking the midfield and forwards

:09:27. > :09:28.from a shortlist drawn up by BBC reporters and commentators

:09:29. > :09:38.I sense there's going to be plenty of heated debate.

:09:39. > :09:46.This is going to be very tricky picking the all-time Premier League

:09:47. > :09:55.11. We have decided on a system, going the old-fashioned 4-4-2, two

:09:56. > :10:00.midfielders and two wide players. We have got two wide players, six on

:10:01. > :10:06.the table, I want each of you to pick two of them, right and the

:10:07. > :10:13.left. We have some names! Good luck! Danny? On the right side, when you

:10:14. > :10:19.think of the Premier League, Beckham springs to mind as United, winning

:10:20. > :10:26.things, free kicks. Ronaldo gets dropped in. Ronaldo, the last couple

:10:27. > :10:31.of years, it was phenomenal and what he has gone on to do. I did not

:10:32. > :10:36.think somebody was going to make an impact as a number seven after

:10:37. > :10:42.Beckham and Eric Cantona, like this man, he has done it. It is hard to

:10:43. > :10:49.say he is not the best player who has ever played in the Premier

:10:50. > :10:52.League? Yes. I am delighted we are playing with two winners, great

:10:53. > :10:58.system. That right-hand side, I know that Beckham had longevity.

:10:59. > :11:06.Brilliant at delivering those balls. But I would have Ronaldo on the

:11:07. > :11:14.right hand. As a modern-day player, we have Mazar. We have not even got

:11:15. > :11:20.to Ryan Giggs. With Eden Hazard, there needs to be more consistency.

:11:21. > :11:25.We will reserve judgment for a moment while we look at the

:11:26. > :11:28.left-hand side, Ryan Giggs, his phenomenally long career at Man

:11:29. > :11:34.United. Winning the title a million times. Gareth Bale has gone on to

:11:35. > :11:39.become a world superstar whilst at Spurs he was showing that amount of

:11:40. > :11:45.promise and John Barnes. A player from my own era, wonderfully gifted

:11:46. > :11:51.player. And you're a hero, Danny? All day long, he would always be

:11:52. > :11:55.left-hand side, but I understand that with Ryan Giggs, what he has

:11:56. > :11:59.achieved, that spell in his mid-30s were the supporters got on his back

:12:00. > :12:06.for quite a while, which was disgrace. He did not just bounce

:12:07. > :12:10.back, he contributed significantly to their success from a central

:12:11. > :12:14.midfield position. I am not many midfielders could have done that. We

:12:15. > :12:21.are talking about the Premier League and you cannot look beyond anyone

:12:22. > :12:29.other than Ryan Giggs. Decisions? Your two? Ryan Giggs on one side and

:12:30. > :12:37.Ronaldo on the other. Sounds good! I would have John Barnes and Ronaldo.

:12:38. > :12:49.I wanted back involved, you cannot take Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs. Giggs,

:12:50. > :13:03.obviously. Giggs, 2-1. Ronaldo is going here. Giggs over here.

:13:04. > :13:14.Ronaldo! Brigg and Goole! -- brilliant goal! Giggs gets the touch

:13:15. > :13:18.and he beat some! -- beats him. I sense we might have shot ourselves

:13:19. > :13:23.in the foot I picking two wide players so we can therefore only

:13:24. > :13:30.have two of the players we have in front of me. There is so much talent

:13:31. > :13:36.here. This will be very difficult. One of each of them should be on the

:13:37. > :13:42.board, we should be discussing... Steven Gerrard? On the right wing? I

:13:43. > :13:46.am glad you said that, it sounds biased but I think there was no

:13:47. > :13:52.other midfielder on the list that has attributes that he has not got.

:13:53. > :14:00.He has not won the Premier League. This is a Premier League team. Frank

:14:01. > :14:11.Lampard, 100 and 77 goals. Could we dare stick these two together?

:14:12. > :14:18.Scholes, one of the truly gifted players. Happily mentioned Roy Keane

:14:19. > :14:26.yet? Were putting them together. I think Patrick Viera as well. He was

:14:27. > :14:34.unbelievable. Getting forward and back, leadership. He learned a lot.

:14:35. > :14:40.Nasty. We saw a lot of that. Was he nastier than Roy Keane? Is nasty and

:14:41. > :14:46.good thing? How many games did he miss because of silly tackles? He

:14:47. > :14:57.probably will not get in there but he deserves a mention. What about

:14:58. > :15:01.Frank Lampard? If you are talking about goal-scoring in the field...

:15:02. > :15:07.There is nobody better. The problem we have got with the setup is we

:15:08. > :15:13.have got Steven Gerrard, who I believe... I have gotten, sorry. He

:15:14. > :15:17.can deal with that. He can do all of that.

:15:18. > :15:26.My think you are talking two from Lampard, Keane, Vieira, Scholes and

:15:27. > :15:33.Gerrard. Good luck! Difficult to turn Keane over. I did a few times!

:15:34. > :15:39.I would have Lampard. We haven't spoken much about Paul Scholes, who

:15:40. > :15:45.is arguably one of the best passers in English football history. This is

:15:46. > :15:53.why, if it were to go down to one of them getting in, he could be the one

:15:54. > :16:00.who could hold and sprayed passes. We are talking about a partnership

:16:01. > :16:13.here? It seems that neither Keane nor Vieira. What about a partnership

:16:14. > :16:16.of Vieira and Lampard? For me, for me, Gerrard has to be there because

:16:17. > :16:25.he can give you everything. He does everything. I would say skulls and

:16:26. > :16:30.have Gerrard next to him. -- I would say skulls and have Gerrard next to

:16:31. > :16:37.him. I cannot not pick Frank Lampard -- Paul Scholes. So you are going to

:16:38. > :16:45.leave our Gerrard? No, I've got to pick Gerrard. I'm going to pick

:16:46. > :16:52.Frank Lampard. I'm going to big Gerrard! Two choices. Steve Gerrard

:16:53. > :17:01.is in but I don't want it to affect your thinking. My partnership would

:17:02. > :17:07.be Vieira and Lampard. It is Gerrard and Lampard, of course it is. It

:17:08. > :17:16.doesn't work, lads! Too many managers managing there! Can we pick

:17:17. > :17:21.a manager? Sven? For me, under Glenn Hoddle, that would work. I agree.

:17:22. > :17:26.Under this system, it properly wouldn't. Gerrard and Lampard it is.

:17:27. > :17:32.Can we just have Paul Scholes somewhere here because something

:17:33. > :17:48.isn't right here? COMMENTATOR: Gerrard! Oh, how about that?

:17:49. > :17:53.Lampard. Good it full -- good hit. Super it. We thought that the

:17:54. > :17:57.central midfield would be difficult and it was and now, the strikers.

:17:58. > :18:04.Look at this lot. You could pick any two and you would have a impressive

:18:05. > :18:12.front pairing. Alan, off you go. I have a theory that we will have this

:18:13. > :18:18.tucked up, Ian Wright and I've! -- Ian Wright and me. This is it, man,

:18:19. > :18:24.this is what it comes down to. There are two players here who I love. I

:18:25. > :18:29.imagine that one of them would be Dennis Bergkamp. OK, there are three

:18:30. > :18:39.players! LAUGHTER Way is that I played against and for

:18:40. > :18:43.the likes of Sheringham, watching Teddy, he was fantastic. I played

:18:44. > :18:51.against him from the early 80s. And Robbie Fowler. A natural. He made

:18:52. > :18:58.finishing look easy. He did. One guy on that list, Suarez. He wasn't here

:18:59. > :19:06.that long. Four seasons in the Premier League. Massive impact. We

:19:07. > :19:15.have Thierry Henry. He was poe be the player on this list, -- he was

:19:16. > :19:18.probably the player, when he's on the team list, you would be in

:19:19. > :19:25.trouble. Eric Cantona. Jumping in, massive impact. Huge impact at

:19:26. > :19:34.Manchester United. But I've got to mention old square head. Square

:19:35. > :19:40.head? Shearer, man, he doesn't talk enough about what he's done. He's

:19:41. > :19:43.somebody admired as a striker. What's annoying about him, you knew

:19:44. > :19:47.him and you would be in the tunnel with him and he would blank you, not

:19:48. > :19:54.even look at you, he wouldn't acknowledge you. He was so focused

:19:55. > :19:58.on goals, goals! You look at the results, how did they get on today,

:19:59. > :20:04.Blackburn, Newcastle, wherever he was, Shearer, yes, he scored two. It

:20:05. > :20:17.was relentless, hence the numbers he got. Hang on. We can sit and discuss

:20:18. > :20:19.the talent of these forwards. Dennis Bergkamp is someone who is

:20:20. > :20:27.influential and one of the great players in the Premier League. He

:20:28. > :20:32.might not get in the team. For me, Dennis changed the DNA of Arsenal.

:20:33. > :20:41.Talking about partnerships, I would go for Henry. Henry Candy drift, he

:20:42. > :20:46.likes to go to the left. Aguero, he wants to be high up but it is Henry

:20:47. > :20:51.for me. Wayne Rooney. If you wanted to, he could play on the right, if

:20:52. > :20:55.you wanted him in the number ten role. Sometimes he sacrificed

:20:56. > :21:00.himself for the team, when the manager wanted him in different

:21:01. > :21:04.positions. Great work ethic. And to still have the record that he has.

:21:05. > :21:10.It is hard to leave out Rooney, I'm going with Henry and Shearer.

:21:11. > :21:22.Absolutely. Without a doubt. That takes the pressure off now, you can

:21:23. > :21:29.pick somebody else. Forget about Wrighty! I would pick Rooney.

:21:30. > :21:40.Perfectly valid. And Henry. There you have it. Thanks, guys, love you

:21:41. > :21:41.too! COMMENTATOR: Shearer, it is the goal, it is the record goal for

:21:42. > :22:01.Shearer. Henry. Thierry Henry. This is our team. Sir Alex Ferguson,

:22:02. > :22:05.naturally is the manager. I'm sure most of you will disagree but that's

:22:06. > :22:08.the nature of football and opinion and that's why we love it.

:22:09. > :22:13.Well, as it turns out, most of you agree.

:22:14. > :22:20.Nearly 400,000 of you picked your team on the website.

:22:21. > :22:21.And remarkably there's just one change.

:22:22. > :22:23.Ian Wright will be delighted that his request to have

:22:24. > :22:26.Paul Scholes floating in the ether has been answered,

:22:27. > :22:34.So much synergy between the pundits and the public. One glaring

:22:35. > :22:37.omission, there is no current Premier League player in there. If

:22:38. > :22:43.you had to go for the current players, Chris? Tony Adams should be

:22:44. > :22:50.in that team, no doubt! Current player, I'd go for Harry Kane. A one

:22:51. > :22:54.season wonder, supposedly? Madness. He could get close to Alan Shearer's

:22:55. > :23:00.record, if not break it. A tall order but he is outstanding. Tony

:23:01. > :23:05.Adams, Lee Dixon, Steve Bould. You can't just put Arsenal players!

:23:06. > :23:10.Current players, probably Kante, I would take out Lampard and put in

:23:11. > :23:15.Kante so you have a defensive midfielder, so it is more balanced,

:23:16. > :23:21.thinking with my gaffer's hat on. He can run and run. And the longevity

:23:22. > :23:26.that seemed to sway them with some decisions, back-to-back, he could be

:23:27. > :23:28.there for a long time. Potentially back to back-to-back. I wonder how

:23:29. > :23:34.different the decision would have been if there was a former foreign

:23:35. > :23:38.Gemili player. It is a very English side. Yes, it would have been

:23:39. > :23:41.interesting. -- former foreign Premier League player.

:23:42. > :23:44.There's a week left in the transfer window, bringing with it

:23:45. > :23:45.the usual dose of rumour, speculation, unsettled

:23:46. > :23:48.It's something most Premier League managers despise, but spare

:23:49. > :23:57.In this case, Liverpool fan Tom Price.

:23:58. > :24:05.The last few weeks have really taken it out of me. This whole argument,

:24:06. > :24:08.leave or remain, so damaging and corrosive but it seems like we have

:24:09. > :24:21.an answer. Philippe Coutinho is staying. Remain means Remain. For

:24:22. > :24:26.now, obviously! To quote Sharon from EastEnders, Phil, what have you done

:24:27. > :24:37.to me? Nothing worse than being abandoned by somebody you love, I

:24:38. > :24:39.should know. It's been agony, just waiting and watching social media

:24:40. > :24:43.constantly for any news, not knowing if one of the most important people

:24:44. > :24:49.in your life is going to be there or not. You put everything else on

:24:50. > :24:55.hold. I mean, sure, it started as love. Can I get a triple, please? It

:24:56. > :25:00.ticked all the boxes, especially that one in the opposition end, with

:25:01. > :25:05.the goalkeeper in it. Another belter from Coutinho! As a football fan,

:25:06. > :25:08.you try and prepare yourself for that moment when your favourite

:25:09. > :25:13.player leaves your club. The first thing to be aware of is that you up

:25:14. > :25:19.not the first. Look at Benteke, Andy Carroll leaving Newcastle, Mane

:25:20. > :25:26.leaving Southampton. Oh, wait. Are we the bad guys? If it does happen,

:25:27. > :25:29.you've got to make a clean break. Don't let it stick with you, don't

:25:30. > :25:36.spend the rest of your life haunted by these people. My friend Rob is a

:25:37. > :25:44.Spurs fan. Rob, hello, mate. How are you? Good, good. You know highlight

:25:45. > :25:49.-- who I bumped into. Sol Campbell. Oh, that BLEEP

:25:50. > :25:55., that absolute BLEEP . It is important not to do anything

:25:56. > :26:01.silly on the rebound, as in all break ups. But do not just fall in

:26:02. > :26:06.love with the first person you see. Liverpool, it is Rickie Lambert.

:26:07. > :26:12.What do I know? I know he's staying but for how long, does he really

:26:13. > :26:18.wants to be there? I just... Sometimes there's only one thing to

:26:19. > :26:22.do. That's it. I'm done with footballers. My heart has been

:26:23. > :26:26.broken too many times. Never again. Time for me to heal and have some

:26:27. > :26:30.may time. # What do you get when you fall in

:26:31. > :26:33.love? # A guy with a pin to burst your

:26:34. > :26:37.bubble # That's what you get for all your

:26:38. > :26:46.trouble # I'll never fall in love again

:26:47. > :27:00.# Ooh! I really needed that. Cheers, John. Alexander-Arnold. Who is that

:27:01. > :27:04.guy? Tom is not handling it well! I imagine that there were a few tears

:27:05. > :27:08.when you left Norwich, Chris. A lot of the farming community were

:27:09. > :27:17.distraught! Is not so much at Chelsea? I think that the manager

:27:18. > :27:22.was distraught. Not many farmers in Chelsea. As a club that like selling

:27:23. > :27:26.its big players, do you allow yourself that emotional attachment

:27:27. > :27:30.any more? I did but you have hit the nail on the head, I have let go a

:27:31. > :27:35.little bit because there is the saga with Sanchez, whether he will go,

:27:36. > :27:42.many Arsenal fans would rather he ran down his contract to the end and

:27:43. > :27:47.let him leave and go on a Bosman. We've seen some elite players

:27:48. > :27:53.leaving, Henry and Fabregas to Barcelona, van Persie to Man United.

:27:54. > :27:56.We are used to it but it hurts to see them posing with the other

:27:57. > :28:00.shirts. It's it more hurtful to see them going to the top clubs? If they

:28:01. > :28:05.are at the end of their careers, they moving gently down the league,

:28:06. > :28:09.it isn't as Hurd fell, if we are looking at the boyfriend and

:28:10. > :28:12.girlfriend scenario. If they upgrade, it is more hurtful, if you

:28:13. > :28:18.see your former partner and they have a better looking partner, it

:28:19. > :28:20.hurts! It is a similar analogy. Not getting that analogy? I get it,

:28:21. > :28:23.yeah! Before we leave you,

:28:24. > :28:26.let's have a look at this Bournemouth's quest for a first

:28:27. > :28:29.Premier League point won't be easy as they host Man City in the early

:28:30. > :28:32.kick off on Saturday. There are four 3 o'clock kick offs,

:28:33. > :28:35.with Leicester going to Old Trafford There are four fixtures on Sunday,

:28:36. > :28:39.with big games at Chelsea and Liverpool, Spurs are looking

:28:40. > :28:41.to end their Wembley hoodoo against Burnley, and can West Brom

:28:42. > :28:44.continue their perfect start Thanks to Chris and

:28:45. > :28:48.Nick for being here. Best of luck this weekend, going to

:28:49. > :28:54.get a result? Yes, 3-1. Don't forget you can catch up
