:00:18. > :00:36.Welcome to Match of the Day Two Extra. We're analysing the weekend's

:00:37. > :00:39.football on BBC One, Radio 5Live and the BBC Sport website. Coming up,

:00:40. > :00:49.we'll talk about tomorrow's big match between leaders Manchester

:00:50. > :00:57.City and Chelsea. A couple of games today as well. West Brom face

:00:58. > :01:02.Liverpool and then Arsenal play Crystal Palace. And we'll review

:01:03. > :01:05.yesterday's action. Our guests this lunchtime. BBC football pundit

:01:06. > :01:07.Robbie Savage. 5live football commentator Alan Green. And the

:01:08. > :01:13.Independent's football writer, Ian Herbert. You can get in touch in all

:01:14. > :01:22.the usual ways. 85058 on the text, @bbcmotd and via the Match of the

:01:23. > :01:28.Day Facebook page. Plenty to talk about. I want to start by not

:01:29. > :01:33.talking about the Premier League for once. But a club who perhaps should

:01:34. > :01:43.be in the Premier League, Leeds united. There is a 2-page article in

:01:44. > :01:49.the newspapers today talking about a club that is in chaos and could fall

:01:50. > :01:56.into the hands of an Italian fraudster, their words. Because the

:01:57. > :02:00.man who is looking to buy them has been to dump fraud in Italy. On a

:02:01. > :02:06.couple of occasions. This would be the biggest test of whether a leak

:02:07. > :02:13.in this country is willing and able and capable of inventing someone

:02:14. > :02:17.like that from taking over a club. Leeds are in real trouble

:02:18. > :02:21.financially. They are paying off the debt of being in the Premier League

:02:22. > :02:25.but they are losing about ?50 million per season. There are

:02:26. > :02:30.desperate for a buyer and a by-product of that desperation is

:02:31. > :02:36.someone like Massimo Chellino who wants to buy the club and has the

:02:37. > :02:40.fact to sack manager before he has even taken over. Normally in these

:02:41. > :02:46.situations you ask guests what is going on. That is an impossible

:02:47. > :02:51.question to answer. The Italian side say they have not sat McDermott,

:02:52. > :03:01.that that came from the current orders -- owners. It is ridiculous.

:03:02. > :03:08.It is wholly absurd. I'm hoping like probably everyone here that the foot

:03:09. > :03:13.will leak in this case will take a stand. And when they talk about fit

:03:14. > :03:18.and proper persons, they will look at it and say that this fraudster is

:03:19. > :03:24.not fit and proper. Over the last couple of days, he was not in a

:03:25. > :03:32.position to sack McDermott because he did not own the club. McDermott

:03:33. > :03:40.does, McDermott knows that if Massimo Chellino takes over,

:03:41. > :03:44.McDermott has no future at the club. So even if the club issued a

:03:45. > :03:48.statement saying you're not sacked, come back and everything is fine,

:03:49. > :03:53.McDermott must know he has no future at Leeds United if the ownership

:03:54. > :03:57.changes to the benefit of this man. The club statement said something

:03:58. > :04:03.like Brian McDermott has not been dismissed and we look forward to his

:04:04. > :04:10.continuing his role with us. But why would he want to continue? It is

:04:11. > :04:19.very hard. All the sympathy is with the fans. They turn up week in, week

:04:20. > :04:25.out. They give me abuse when I play against them! You have sympathy with

:04:26. > :04:32.Brian McDermott who is a good man, an honest man, and with the fans. It

:04:33. > :04:42.is shambolic. Given the financial situation, they are in danger of

:04:43. > :04:50.becoming the next Leeds! Going back a bit. That is right. One of the

:04:51. > :04:57.interesting potential aspect, they're owned at the moment by a

:04:58. > :05:07.brainy and banker. -- a banker from Bahrain. The money offered for the

:05:08. > :05:13.club is peanuts in terms of the game. That is how desperate they are

:05:14. > :05:16.for that kind of injection of money. There are examples all over the

:05:17. > :05:21.place. You mentioned Portsmouth, playing in front of 15,000 at the

:05:22. > :05:29.bottom of league two. And Bolton Wanderers, losing ?50 million last

:05:30. > :05:37.season. Another club who paid to get into the unique and are in trouble.

:05:38. > :05:41.Leeds United used to be in the semifinals and it hurts. I have no

:05:42. > :05:44.affiliation to Yorkshire in semifinals and it hurts. I have no

:05:45. > :05:48.particular but I think the Premier League could do with a Yorkshire

:05:49. > :05:56.club. And Leeds United is the foremost club in Yorkshire. It has a

:05:57. > :06:01.fantastic bank of supporters. You can rely on 30,000 plus. And

:06:02. > :06:06.whatever abuse they give Robbie, they are a great bunch of fans and

:06:07. > :06:11.they deserve better. I feel so frustrated on their behalf. But I do

:06:12. > :06:22.not see what the future is unless there is a problem by moving in.

:06:23. > :06:26.Let's move on to the first game this afternoon - West Brom face Liverpool

:06:27. > :06:36.having won only once in their last 13 games. To start with the home

:06:37. > :06:44.side, are they still trying to find some kind of rhythm, the right

:06:45. > :06:51.formation? It is dismal at this moment. Just one win in 13 games.

:06:52. > :06:58.They need to improve on that. They beat Liverpool three -yl on their

:06:59. > :07:08.opening day of the season and they will need a resurrection of that

:07:09. > :07:16.kind of form. -- 3-nil. Liverpool cut the Everton defence to shreds

:07:17. > :07:20.with quick counterattacking. So if they are trying to find some rhythm

:07:21. > :07:24.under Pepe Mel it will be a difficult afternoon for them. And I

:07:25. > :07:29.think that with them will be staccato. Liverpool very much in

:07:30. > :07:33.with game against Everton during the week. Yesterday was a good day for

:07:34. > :07:44.them in terms of cementing fourth-place. That is right. They

:07:45. > :07:53.can create a bit of a gap if they win today. Suarez destroyed West

:07:54. > :08:00.Brom at Anfield before Christmas. He is in magnificent form. 22 goals. 14

:08:01. > :08:07.assists in eight games this season. They did not pick up any extra

:08:08. > :08:11.injury problems. So it would not surprise me if they remain

:08:12. > :08:24.unchanged. West Brom may just go to a back three. Keith Downing was in

:08:25. > :08:34.caretaker charge and he used that. If Nagano plays, he does know

:08:35. > :08:41.Suarez. But he has been found out for a lack of pace at Premiership

:08:42. > :08:45.level. West Brom need to make changes and they do not have many

:08:46. > :08:49.options. The Liverpool defence is not there strong point but I think

:08:50. > :08:59.they will have too much for West Brom today.

:09:00. > :09:12.We will let you get on. The only blip for Liverpool was the injury.

:09:13. > :09:18.They are great in possession and a great counterattacking team as well.

:09:19. > :09:24.Suarez, his pace over a long distance surprised me. From the

:09:25. > :09:28.halfway line, to beat Jagielka in a race, incredible. He's the best

:09:29. > :09:36.centre forward in the world I think at minute. What to think about their

:09:37. > :09:41.needs from the transfer window? I think they needed extra defence. The

:09:42. > :09:54.defence they were forced to put out the other night, Martin Skrtel and

:09:55. > :09:59.Flanagan, they are the only options. Cissokho as a left-back, I'm not

:10:00. > :10:05.sure what anyone sees in him. So they are vulnerable defensively. But

:10:06. > :10:10.if West Brom go at Liverpool then I can see with Coutinho and Suarez and

:10:11. > :10:16.storage, Liverpool counterattacking them to death. This is a day for

:10:17. > :10:21.Liverpool. The other night was an important figure three. But given

:10:22. > :10:28.the results yesterday, the defeat for Manchester United, Liverpool

:10:29. > :10:33.could go nine points clear. It is a huge at noon for West Brom, given

:10:34. > :10:38.some of the results yesterday. They are level with West Ham. West Ham

:10:39. > :10:44.just in the bottom three on goal difference. They have slipped down

:10:45. > :10:51.in many ways almost unnoticed. Roberto Martinez talked about Pepe

:10:52. > :10:59.Mel, he knows him very well. And he said that is the sort of football we

:11:00. > :11:06.can expect from West Brom, high energy, a lot of movement. But

:11:07. > :11:10.Martin is did say it would take four or five weeks to instil that kind of

:11:11. > :11:17.culture. Pochettino came in quite a lot earlier in the season, trying to

:11:18. > :11:21.get that off the ground in February. I do not think that they can afford

:11:22. > :11:29.four or five weeks, that is the problem. A Liverpool fan says, we

:11:30. > :11:33.could possibly win the title. I do not think Liverpool can win the

:11:34. > :11:38.title. That argument is based on the fact that aside from going to Old

:11:39. > :11:44.Trafford, the title Ruppell's vulture all have to go to Anfield.

:11:45. > :11:55.And Liverpool's form has been sloppy. It is asking a lot. Jumping

:11:56. > :12:03.from seventh place into first place is too big a leap. But the top four

:12:04. > :12:07.is possible. One text, David Moyes admits he has not got a clue. He

:12:08. > :12:12.said yesterday I do not know why we did not win. But he is paid millions

:12:13. > :12:21.to figure that out. It must be time to go. We can hear from David Moyes

:12:22. > :12:31.after that defeat at Stoke. We played well today, we lost to a

:12:32. > :12:35.wicked deflection from a free kick. And the amount of opportunities and

:12:36. > :12:41.chances, we should have won the game. We have ourselves to blame but

:12:42. > :12:49.it was a good performance. We just could not take both chances. You are

:12:50. > :12:52.never satisfied when you lose but your always pleased by making

:12:53. > :13:00.opportunities in difficult conditions. We lost the first goal

:13:01. > :13:06.and it was ridiculous. It was a bit of a soft free kick, I felt. But

:13:07. > :13:12.nevertheless. You lost two defenders today. We will leave it there.

:13:13. > :13:19.Whether unlucky yesterday? A little bit. I think they deserved a point.

:13:20. > :13:26.But the top managers, UC Mourinho doing it, David Moyes Mark Hughes at

:13:27. > :13:34.times, I thought yesterday Stoke battled hard in terrible conditions.

:13:35. > :13:42.Charlie Adams was exceptional. Lost a bit of weight. If Liverpool win

:13:43. > :13:52.today, fourth-place should not be too hard to achieve. Surely a player

:13:53. > :13:58.should be ultimate weight anyhow! If they take him aside and get him

:13:59. > :14:03.fit, that is to their credit. A footballer should not be overweight

:14:04. > :14:14.in the first place! It is a fair point. But there are different band

:14:15. > :14:23.struck as. -- bone structures. I have problems with my bone

:14:24. > :14:29.structure! Where did Manchester United go wrong yesterday? It is

:14:30. > :14:34.partly belief, with them. It was by no means as bad as it has been for

:14:35. > :14:39.them. The positive was they were fighting hard at the end. We have

:14:40. > :14:47.had some anodyne finishes two games with them. But it is partly belief.

:14:48. > :14:52.Luck can come into it but there is a loser's luck as well. You do not get

:14:53. > :14:58.the sense with them that they have the mentality to really battle out

:14:59. > :15:04.games like this and win through. The injuries were unlucky but there was

:15:05. > :15:09.a sequence of them. One thing seems to lead to another. David Moyes, his

:15:10. > :15:16.comments afterwards was so positive. The tone was all wrong. The press

:15:17. > :15:20.Conference got off to a bad start. He was asked a question that rankled

:15:21. > :15:31.with him and then he presented it as they did everything right. Which was

:15:32. > :15:37.ludicrous. A text said they were like headless

:15:38. > :15:41.change chicken, were they shapeless? Yes in the last chaotic 15 minute,

:15:42. > :15:45.it was just, everybody rushing forward, you know, one minute Young

:15:46. > :15:52.was on the right, then the left. I was thinking, well, that is OK, if

:15:53. > :15:55.you are actually penetrating. But they weren't. Headless chicken, that

:15:56. > :16:00.is a good description of the way Manchester United were at the end.

:16:01. > :16:05.They were unlucky, you lose both central defenders, through injury,

:16:06. > :16:11.of course that is unlucky, but David's view of their performance I

:16:12. > :16:16.thought was absurdly rose tinted. It neglected to pay attention how well

:16:17. > :16:21.Stoke played and I thought Charlie Adam, he was magnificent yesterday.

:16:22. > :16:25.It wasn't just that fantastic second goal he scored, it was his

:16:26. > :16:29.contribution all over the pitch, there was an aggression about dammed

:16:30. > :16:33.that was lacking in Manchester United. -- Adam. I thought United

:16:34. > :16:41.were better yesterday than they have been but there a long way off. Mata

:16:42. > :16:46.is an expensive plaster, he maybe an expensive big plaster but it doesn't

:16:47. > :16:51.cover the wounds. They have more world class player than Liverpool.

:16:52. > :17:00.They have four, but the big difference between them... Mata,

:17:01. > :17:05.Rooney and? I know what he is trying to say. Are they world class? They

:17:06. > :17:09.haveer mo of those elite world class player, I would say, but the big

:17:10. > :17:13.difference is than Liverpool, but Liverpool look like they believe it,

:17:14. > :17:16.they believe they can do it. I mean, when they win game they take

:17:17. > :17:22.incredible amount out of it. I think that is partly down to, you know,

:17:23. > :17:26.what Rogers, he gives then. He has that ability to make them feel they

:17:27. > :17:31.can do anything. Do they lack, as well, and Robbie you can start this,

:17:32. > :17:37.those, I don't know, players that are fiscal, that intimidate. Alan

:17:38. > :17:42.mentioned how Charlie Adam liked the physical stuff yesterday. United, if

:17:43. > :17:47.Vidic isn't there, they probably have only Rooney, maybe Robin Van

:17:48. > :17:54.Persie at a push who like to get stuck in, who like that element of

:17:55. > :17:59.physicality. Are they too nice. The fear factor, if you take in Rooney,

:18:00. > :18:03.Robin Van Persie, Mata out of the team, if you think it is going to be

:18:04. > :18:08.a tough afternoon, if you a forward you look across thinking, we fancy

:18:09. > :18:22.it today. So as Ian said, I think they have three world class players.

:18:23. > :18:26.But... Would De Gea be? Barring one or two mistakes. It was a big

:18:27. > :18:31.mistack at Sunderland. Fantastic result for Stoke who played as team

:18:32. > :18:38.in difficult conditions for nearly 97 minutes one text said. Josh said

:18:39. > :18:44.it is not time to throw in the towel with Moyes, a great manager like

:18:45. > :18:49.Ferguson got the best out of players like cleverly. Another one says

:18:50. > :18:54.Moyes is too cautious. On that cleverly, as you were saying,

:18:55. > :18:59.shouldn't a player be in the right shape to play football. How can one

:19:00. > :19:03.man inspire so somebody so much. You have won the league. Cleverly, I

:19:04. > :19:08.don't know how so many players can be so ordinary from last year, it

:19:09. > :19:14.has to be done to -- down to the players. You know, he is 18 years of

:19:15. > :19:21.age, he looks terrific, but in a year's time, he could be another

:19:22. > :19:25.Mikada, where is he now? Due respect to Birmingham, you know what I am

:19:26. > :19:32.say, young players can look very good but let us not make them stars

:19:33. > :19:35.overnight, because Tay are not. If think had lost yesterday they would

:19:36. > :19:41.have been pod Tom three, they win and they are 11th. Incredible. We

:19:42. > :19:45.will move on to the side that are at the bottom of the table. When Alan

:19:46. > :19:49.spoke about a Yorkshire team being in the Premier League, we know Hull

:19:50. > :19:53.are in the Premier League, in mitigating circumstance, when I went

:19:54. > :19:57.to university there Hull was still in Humberside. I can only apologise

:19:58. > :20:03.to Hull in East Yorkshire. Let us get that sorted and move on. Let

:20:04. > :20:07.talks about Fulham who were busy in the transfer window and have doped

:20:08. > :20:10.to the -- dropped to the bottom of the Premier League, beaten by

:20:11. > :20:14.Southampton, one of the players they brought in were offensive minded,

:20:15. > :20:22.and the problem is they are conceding too many goal, conceded 53

:20:23. > :20:26.so far. That is right. There was a good deconstruction of the way they

:20:27. > :20:32.defended by, I think by Danny Murphy last night on Match of the Day. I

:20:33. > :20:36.think it was a very very big gamble hiring Meulensteen in the first

:20:37. > :20:38.place. I think the wrong choice honestly, you have, and I think

:20:39. > :20:43.there is something about him, the fact he has worked with Ferguson,

:20:44. > :20:47.there is a certain aura or idea that it is all going to have rubbed off,

:20:48. > :20:52.but he has no experience of being in in position, so what makes us think

:20:53. > :20:58.he is going to get them out of it? A couple of the papers in fact are

:20:59. > :21:03.suggesting that I think the Mirror and the Sun say Alan Curbishley is

:21:04. > :21:07.waiting in the wings to take over. I wouldn't be that cynical. He is

:21:08. > :21:14.available, he is a candidate. I think what has happened, actually

:21:15. > :21:21.since mull Steen has taken over should make -- Meulensteen has taken

:21:22. > :21:25.over has shown Martin Jol was doing a good job there. They are in

:21:26. > :21:30.trouble. As Robbie said about Stoke, from bottom three to 11th, courtesy

:21:31. > :21:34.of a victory, it is difficult at this stage of the season to say I

:21:35. > :21:39.think A, B and C will go down, because a couple of results, either

:21:40. > :21:45.way can change the circumstances, look how Swansea have plummeted. Of

:21:46. > :21:49.all of them Fulham are the ones I would feel most confident to say

:21:50. > :21:54.that about. At the moment. Man man, Liverpool. Chelsea- Manchester

:21:55. > :22:03.United, Liverpool, Chelsea in some of their next five games. There was

:22:04. > :22:08.confusion about, listen, Holt by is a fantastic play e but why get rid

:22:09. > :22:19.of centre halves and the ones that confused Danny Murphy, Aaron Hugh,

:22:20. > :22:28.an experienced defend ersent to QPR. Senderos must be thanking his lucky

:22:29. > :22:33.stars going to Barcelona. You can't blame them was a it was very poor.

:22:34. > :22:38.But they are basing everything on you would suggest, on Johnny

:22:39. > :22:40.Heitinga and Hangeland forming an understanding as their defensive

:22:41. > :22:46.partnership from the moment Johnny Heitinga is able to play in that

:22:47. > :22:53.team. You are. They conceded too many goals and losing Berbatov, and

:22:54. > :22:58.that is a good thing, Monaco and Berbatov go hand in hand. What does

:22:59. > :23:04.that mean? The lifestyle. Perfect. Great match. But can Ben score the

:23:05. > :23:09.goals? It is going to be difficult. I agree with Ian, Fulham could go.

:23:10. > :23:12.We are still getting texts a and tweets about Liverpool and

:23:13. > :23:17.Manchester United going for seventh. "Even if Liverpool lose their games

:23:18. > :23:21.against the top three they will make fourth." Guarin "Brendan Rodgers

:23:22. > :23:28.says seventh to fourth is too big a leap. So first to seventh is too big

:23:29. > :23:31.a fall." Let us move back to the bottom of the table. We will move on

:23:32. > :23:36.the Cardiff who have started yesterday on the bottom. They beat

:23:37. > :23:39.Norwich by two goals to one, despite falling behind to an early goal. Ole

:23:40. > :23:45.Gunnar Solskjaer says the arrival of new faces at the club has come at

:23:46. > :23:51.the perfect time. S I was hoping we would be in a

:23:52. > :23:55.better position, given half an hour on the debut, I felt we needed

:23:56. > :24:00.spark, the crowd needed something, and he gave even a lift, that is for

:24:01. > :24:06.sure. Could you have hoped for any more from three debut boys? Not

:24:07. > :24:11.really. Fabio did fantastic. Kenwyne scores a goal. Wilfred makes the

:24:12. > :24:16.impact. The most pleasing thing is to see the form of Craig Bellamy. He

:24:17. > :24:19.is the first player who scored for seven different clubs in Premier

:24:20. > :24:30.League, and that is, that is something for him to take with him.

:24:31. > :24:36.They in the bottom three, Cardiff. Their next match is the derby at

:24:37. > :24:42.Swansea, are you more impressed with the players Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has

:24:43. > :24:47.brought in? Yes, I am. He has brought in the enigma that is

:24:48. > :24:53.Wilfried Zaha. Didn't get a look in at Old Trafford. I am trying to

:24:54. > :24:56.figure out why, he wasn't properly tested there. But Ole Gunnar

:24:57. > :25:02.Solskjaer in his first game in charge, that cup win at Newcastle

:25:03. > :25:07.was absurdly described as a tactical genius, we will wait and see if he

:25:08. > :25:14.is, he made a stream tactical move yesterday. Things weren't going on

:25:15. > :25:16.early on, Mourinho-like, bringing on Wilfried Zaha, the change was

:25:17. > :25:20.immediate. I thought he was impressive. He has good players

:25:21. > :25:26.there. He talked about the crowd needing a lift. Craig Bellamy spoke

:25:27. > :25:29.about how the atmosphere was, wasn't the Cardiff he knew at that ground,

:25:30. > :25:34.in that first half. The crowd were getting on the backs of the players,

:25:35. > :25:39.so what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did with bringing Wilfried Zaha on

:25:40. > :25:44.changed the atmosphere. We have seen that with a few club there is a

:25:45. > :25:48.spark, the cloud crowd need lifting, and Zaha, I degree not sure why he

:25:49. > :25:51.hasn't been given a chance at Old Trafford. We don't know know what

:25:52. > :25:55.happens in training or behind the scenes. David Moyes sees him every

:25:56. > :25:58.day, so he makes the judgment. It is a great opportunity for him, go and

:25:59. > :26:04.play in the Premier League, let us be fair, he has not played in the

:26:05. > :26:08.Premier League. The atmosphere is dictated by their feel totion the

:26:09. > :26:11.owner, so if it is not going well, they are not blaming the players or

:26:12. > :26:16.the manager, whoever that is, they are thinking about the ownership of

:26:17. > :26:22.the club. That was a classic example of a result that kind of, a lot

:26:23. > :26:25.belies the result. Norwich battered Cardiff in the second half, Norwich

:26:26. > :26:30.started better, on the whole, Cardiff were poor, right, I mean

:26:31. > :26:34.Zaha, he made a big impression, but Cardiff were poor, they were very

:26:35. > :26:40.poor in the cup at Bolton, they are another one I think, you know, they

:26:41. > :26:45.are not a great side, you know. But Darren on the text says "Notch are

:26:46. > :26:49.the team most likely to go down. I have backed Chris Hughton but we

:26:50. > :26:51.failed to address our poor attack in the transfer window. The

:26:52. > :26:55.performances have been going down hill, we should Judge them at the

:26:56. > :27:00.end of the season. If we continue to waste chances we could be in the

:27:01. > :27:05.Championship by then." Norwich better shield their eyes in terms of

:27:06. > :27:10.the fixtures a the end of the season which are horrible. They are one of

:27:11. > :27:17.a number of clubs, how many teams are involved in "The relegation

:27:18. > :27:22.battle"? 11? 11. You would argue. If you look at the back pages this

:27:23. > :27:29.morning, one word seems to come up quite a lot, which is squealer.

:27:30. > :27:35.Which is being used to describe Flores and his reaction to the Andy

:27:36. > :27:39.Carroll challenge, which is kind of, the discussion on Carroll is

:27:40. > :27:41.dominating things than West Ham beating Swansea yesterday. As

:27:42. > :27:47.somebody who has been known to squeal in the past, Robbie Savage,

:27:48. > :27:54.what did you make of it? Well I did a very similar thing in the cup

:27:55. > :27:59.final, when he caught me on migrate lock, I went down clutching me face,

:28:00. > :28:04.I am embarrassed. I was trying to gain an advantage for my team which

:28:05. > :28:08.didn't pay off. So when you look back, it is embarrassing as a

:28:09. > :28:14.professional. You have done it, you try to gain advantage, dididn't

:28:15. > :28:18.think it was a red card, it is a yellow, will it get rescinded? I am

:28:19. > :28:22.not sure, he has swung his arm, if he catches him in the face it's a

:28:23. > :28:26.red. I am not sure it will be rescinded. I thought it was a yellow

:28:27. > :28:32.card. There is history there. In the game earlier this season, Flores was

:28:33. > :28:36.rolling round, I remember doing it and you saw Sam Allardyce pointing

:28:37. > :28:43.at him and laughing at him. So, you know, there is a history between

:28:44. > :28:49.Flores and West Ham, but Ian, Scot says "What is the difference between

:28:50. > :28:59.Ashley Young's Daiing and Flores's antics? " "Why will Flores get away

:29:00. > :29:06.with play acting? No wonder referee referees struggle." I don't want to

:29:07. > :29:11.be analytical, but... You are allowed to be analytical. If I can

:29:12. > :29:16.use Alan as an example. It wasn't quite... I will change places with

:29:17. > :29:20.you. It wasn't quite a natural, you know, movement of the arm and I

:29:21. > :29:28.guess that is right. Why it might not be resended. His performance,

:29:29. > :29:35.that is what Sam bought him for, the two knock downs were fantastic.

:29:36. > :29:39.Cameron says "It is significant they have reignited the partnership and

:29:40. > :29:50.that might keep them in the Premier League." Let's go to the Emirates

:29:51. > :29:55.next. Arsenal against Crystal Palace later today. Steve Wilson is

:29:56. > :30:02.commentating on this game at the Emirates. We can start on the

:30:03. > :30:10.Arsenal transfer window dealings and the signing of Kim Kallstrom. What

:30:11. > :30:17.do you know about this injury was Mac -- this injury? A little lesson

:30:18. > :30:28.on Swedish pronunciation. Think if you have picked up a guitar for your

:30:29. > :30:35.first ever lesson. It is Strom. He had been training with Spartak

:30:36. > :30:40.Moscow. Arsenal got him over here. He did not get injured in training,

:30:41. > :30:45.he has not trained with them yet. They knew he was injured at did the

:30:46. > :30:52.medical and decided to sign him. They do not expect him to play in

:30:53. > :30:55.February. He would not play against Liverpool or Manchester United and

:30:56. > :31:02.at least in the first leg, would not play against Bayern Munich. So

:31:03. > :31:07.Arsenal went into this with their eyes open. Arsenal are categorically

:31:08. > :31:13.denying stories this morning that they are trying to pull out of the

:31:14. > :31:18.deal and ditch Kim Kallstrom. They say they knew he was injured and

:31:19. > :31:26.hope that he will be available in March, April and May. But they knew

:31:27. > :31:35.that he would not say in February. Moving off that and on to Crystal

:31:36. > :31:42.Palace and their dealings. Ledley. Hennessy. Crystal Palace fans will

:31:43. > :31:49.say that they had a good deadline day and have a variety of players in

:31:50. > :31:54.different positions. I think they were the big winners on Friday,

:31:55. > :31:58.Crystal Palace. Tony Pulis and the people behind the scenes have done a

:31:59. > :32:03.withered job. It does not quite come early enough for them perhaps today.

:32:04. > :32:10.Hennessy is available. They signed him in time. Jason Punshon also

:32:11. > :32:15.available. The other three, Scott Dann and Joe Ledley and Tom Ince are

:32:16. > :32:22.not available today. That confirmation coming in the last few

:32:23. > :32:27.minutes on Tom Ince. The confusion arises because Stephen dobby who

:32:28. > :32:32.went to black and unknown was on the bench for them yesterday. So people

:32:33. > :32:37.said if he is available, surely Tom Ince is available for Pallas. But

:32:38. > :32:43.that is not the case because the Premier League and the Football

:32:44. > :32:46.League have different deadlines. The deadline for Tom Ince was midday

:32:47. > :33:01.yesterday and he was signed after that. He will not play for Pallas

:33:02. > :33:07.today. -- Crystal Palace. Tony Pulis has halved the rate at which Crystal

:33:08. > :33:16.Palace concede goals. That is a brilliant achievement. Thank you for

:33:17. > :33:21.that. Is there a feeling, in the same way as when they went to and --

:33:22. > :33:30.to Manchester City, that they are in for a game this afternoon?

:33:31. > :33:35.Technically Tony Pulis was superb. Arsenal will be in for a tough game.

:33:36. > :33:42.But I think the quality they have got, Santi Cazorla scoring the

:33:43. > :33:48.goals, I think they might just take it. Even when Arsenal went behind at

:33:49. > :33:54.the Etihad they had chances to equalise. And they may have merited

:33:55. > :33:59.a draw on that afternoon. I would not be surprised if they get a draw

:34:00. > :34:02.today at the Emirates. I think Tony Pulis has brought the

:34:03. > :34:12.transformation. He has made some goodbyes, it is a shame he cannot

:34:13. > :34:27.play some of them today. -- good buys.

:34:28. > :34:32.It is absurd of Arsenal to have taken the Swede on loan when they

:34:33. > :34:38.know that he's not going to play for a dozen games. They needed somebody

:34:39. > :34:46.immediately to help replace Ramsey and Wiltshire. A lot of the panel on

:34:47. > :34:52.deadline day were trying to justify what Arsenal had done, saying they

:34:53. > :34:57.do need midfield cover. They need someone they can bring in as cover.

:34:58. > :35:04.But he is injured. But now the cover is not available either. And that is

:35:05. > :35:08.where the deal looks slightly off. It is supposed to work, you have

:35:09. > :35:12.four or five possibilities and if one falls away, you do your homework

:35:13. > :35:18.on fitness before the actual medical. If one looks dodgy you have

:35:19. > :35:22.others to fall back on. I could not understand why they did not do the

:35:23. > :35:37.deal for Julian Draxler. They might go back for him in the summer. Where

:35:38. > :35:48.down the line was Sjostrom? Whether he is the right man for them at the

:35:49. > :35:53.moment, those questions might of been there. But it would have given

:35:54. > :36:02.them a massive boost, especially amongst the fans. They have got an

:36:03. > :36:06.awkward February, Arsenal. Not just the Premier League but in the

:36:07. > :36:21.Champions League and the FA Cup tie against Liverpool. He amuses me in

:36:22. > :36:27.the transfer market, Arsene Wenger. Nubile young and you develop the

:36:28. > :36:32.player. But so close to making the breakthrough in the league this

:36:33. > :36:43.year, I'm amazed that he did not get a striker, for example. We are

:36:44. > :36:51.getting a lot of text in. David Moyes doing OK, one of them says. We

:36:52. > :36:58.should be battling for the top four. And one says if Crystal Palace Park

:36:59. > :37:06.the bus at the Emirates, there will come away with the points. They had

:37:07. > :37:11.a couple of good chances to equalise, actually. Crystal Palace

:37:12. > :37:17.are decent outfit. Talking about relegation places, on current form I

:37:18. > :37:20.think they will stay up. Fulham and Cardiff I think I've got something

:37:21. > :37:29.to worry about. Sunderland and Crystal Palace are trying to cut

:37:30. > :37:37.through. One text came from someone calling themselves just, and Swede,

:37:38. > :37:44.about the pronunciation of Kim Kallstrom. I wish he had failed his

:37:45. > :37:54.medical! It would make my life easier. One of the games tomorrow.

:37:55. > :38:03.City against Chelsea. The players are obviously very good.

:38:04. > :38:12.Even with very good tyres, if the manager is not good, you do not do

:38:13. > :38:22.it. So the manager has also to do good work. I think they have

:38:23. > :38:26.everything and on top of that, and I want to make it clear that for me it

:38:27. > :38:32.is just a coincidence and nothing else than a coincidence. But the

:38:33. > :38:40.reality is that they have many crucial decisions in their favour.

:38:41. > :38:46.We are playing at home and playing for the title also. Anything that

:38:47. > :38:57.happened in that game is not the finish of the remedy. -- of the

:38:58. > :39:01.Premier League. Jose Mourinho Ozma comments about West Ham and their

:39:02. > :39:10.19th-century foot tall. How do you expect Jose Mourinho to it approach

:39:11. > :39:17.this game? Some ink 19th-century! -- something. But it will not be enough

:39:18. > :39:24.to keep city at Ray. That squad that they have will be too much for

:39:25. > :39:32.them, however they try and set up. They are extraordinary. I'm thinking

:39:33. > :39:35.about Fernandinho, for example. Someone who gets them together and

:39:36. > :39:40.has helped turn them into a far more attacking force than they wear under

:39:41. > :39:50.Roberto Mancini. And a more formidable one. If Bremer Fitch he

:39:51. > :39:56.felt Mourinho was somehow a changed man. I do not think he is. Mourinho

:39:57. > :40:01.would like nothing more than to park the bus at the Etihad tomorrow

:40:02. > :40:10.night. Even if you dance, I expect the expansive nature of Manchester

:40:11. > :40:14.City, albeit without Aguero, to try. One of the ways that Mourinho parks

:40:15. > :40:23.the bus for Chelsea and also at Real Madrid, is to stifle the middle. To

:40:24. > :40:26.play three central midfielders and stifle the middle so players cannot

:40:27. > :40:34.go through. And then take the crosses. You cannot do that with

:40:35. > :40:43.Manchester City. City has those full-backs. Zabaleta is a key weapon

:40:44. > :40:49.for them going forward. So if you stifle the middle, Yaya Toure, his

:40:50. > :40:59.runs have been rate this year. And you have Zabaleta. David Silva, he

:41:00. > :41:05.is key. He slides those balls through and how do you mark him? You

:41:06. > :41:10.can stifle crosses with Barcelona, they have no one who can get on the

:41:11. > :41:20.end of the cross. Whereas Manchester City, they have plenty of people.

:41:21. > :41:26.These games tend to turn, however you analyse it, they tend to turn on

:41:27. > :41:33.that one moment of world-class something that you cannot really

:41:34. > :41:38.define. David Silva is having an unbelievable season. They're all

:41:39. > :41:46.interchangeable. Negredo gets wide as well. I cannot see them finding

:41:47. > :41:50.just that one moment of the superlative that will unlock it. You

:41:51. > :41:57.can tell that the other clubs are worried about city. They have

:41:58. > :42:01.reached that stage where the other clubs are starting to gang up on

:42:02. > :42:10.them. They are a wonderful team to watch at the moment. I love David

:42:11. > :42:18.Silva. I would go just to watch him. But Negredo I think is a step

:42:19. > :42:24.forward from Edin Dzeko. Talking about Mourinho parking the bus at

:42:25. > :42:31.Arsenal or at Manchester United, I remember his inter-Milan team, they

:42:32. > :42:39.lost a player, sent off. And they went into a 6-2-1 formation. He did

:42:40. > :42:45.not hold his hands up after that. But that would be his natural

:42:46. > :42:55.instinct at the Etihad. City I think one player short. -- are one player

:42:56. > :43:03.short. The left side centre have going forward, I think are

:43:04. > :43:07.vulnerable. To go to the next step of being real contenders for the

:43:08. > :43:12.Champions League at that is something that needs to be looked

:43:13. > :43:18.at. One text, no mention of three cracking goals from Southampton

:43:19. > :43:23.players was Mac and Sunderland players saying you to them to go

:43:24. > :43:32.down at the start of the season, have you changed your mind? They

:43:33. > :43:40.have got a new manager. I think the manager has done great. Thank you

:43:41. > :43:45.all for your company. Updates of West Brom against Liverpool this

:43:46. > :43:49.afternoon on five live and full commentary, Arsenal against Crystal

:43:50. > :43:57.Palace and Chelsea against Manchester City on five live as

:43:58. > :43:58.well. We will see you next Sunday. Thank you for watching and

:43:59. > :44:03.listening. Goodbye. for the rivalry that runs deeper

:44:04. > :44:12.than any other. Because our fiercest rivals

:44:13. > :44:16.are those who are closest.
