0:00:53 > 0:00:56Coming up, Slaven Bilic admits he's under "big pressure" and in a "very

0:00:56 > 0:00:59difficult" position after West Ham are beaten 4-1 by Liverpool.

0:00:59 > 0:01:06The Premier League's top five are all in action today.

0:01:06 > 0:01:11Currently, Spurs and Palace is goalless at Wembley.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13We'll also look ahead to the leaders Manchester City against Arsenal,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15which kicks off at 2.15pm.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17And Chelsea v Manchester United, with Jose Mourinho returning

0:01:17 > 0:01:18to Stamford Bridge.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21In terms of the back pages.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23The Mail on Sunday Sport section has "Hart Breaker" with manager

0:01:23 > 0:01:28Slaven Bilic on the brink after another heavy home defeat.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31The Mirror says "Mour The Merrier" with Jose Mourinho wanting a £3

0:01:31 > 0:01:33million-a-year pay rise.

0:01:33 > 0:01:37The Express has gone for "Conte: I'm the Miracle Man",

0:01:37 > 0:01:40with the Italian appearing to take a dig at Jose Mourinho ahead

0:01:40 > 0:01:42of today's match at Stamford Bridge.

0:01:42 > 0:01:47Straight to Wembley.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49The first four games today.

0:01:49 > 0:01:54Tony Husband's watching.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57Hello from Wembley, fortress Wembley, I suppose, for Spurs at the

0:01:57 > 0:02:01moment, convincing wins over Liverpool and Real Madrid in midweek

0:02:01 > 0:02:04but Mauricio Pochettino has had to make changes, no Hugo Lloris,

0:02:04 > 0:02:09Alderweireld or Dele Alli in the match day squad and with the regular

0:02:09 > 0:02:14deputy Michel Vorm nursing a knee injury, Gazzaniga makes his debut in

0:02:14 > 0:02:19goal for the home side. Palace, no goals all points on the road and

0:02:19 > 0:02:23certainly some spirit in the fight against West Ham last week and a big

0:02:23 > 0:02:26boost for Roy Hodgson, who knows the touchline at Wembley very well, is

0:02:26 > 0:02:30Mamadou Sakho is back. 17 minutes played and it is goalless at

0:02:30 > 0:02:32Wembley.

0:02:32 > 0:02:36No Alderweireld and no lorries was what we expected, we saw them

0:02:36 > 0:02:41injured against Real Madrid but Dele Alli's injury means he is out of the

0:02:41 > 0:02:44England squad which might be a painful Gareth Southgate but may be

0:02:44 > 0:02:47no bad thing for Dele Alli and Mauricio Pochettino as they try to

0:02:47 > 0:02:51manage the fixture list.I think so, Dele Alli has played a lot of

0:02:51 > 0:02:55football in the last two seasons. Ultimately, you will pick up

0:02:55 > 0:02:58injuries and it is probably not a bad time to have this sort of

0:02:58 > 0:03:03injury. With the England games coming up, it gives Gareth Southgate

0:03:03 > 0:03:07an opportunity to give new players, uncapped players in opportunity to

0:03:07 > 0:03:12stake a claim in the squad for the World Cup.Burnley did well at

0:03:12 > 0:03:15Wembley earlier this season when they played Spurs. What was the

0:03:15 > 0:03:17feeling in the dressing room about what Spurs are like to play against

0:03:17 > 0:03:23after that game?I think the whole stigma about Wembley at the time,

0:03:23 > 0:03:27Spurs at Wembley, it was not really home for them at the time and we

0:03:27 > 0:03:31were in a rich vein of form so we were more concentrating on ourselves

0:03:31 > 0:03:36and how well we were doing. I think as we have gone into all the games,

0:03:36 > 0:03:41we did not fear them, we look to impress our game in and we did that.

0:03:41 > 0:03:48Wednesday night was special, it felt like.It was. I was there. Everybody

0:03:48 > 0:03:52said, was Wembley going to feel like home for Tottenham, and it certainly

0:03:52 > 0:03:57did on Wednesday night. It felt like an intimidating place for Real

0:03:57 > 0:04:02Madrid to go. Not only did they beat Real Madrid, back-to-back European

0:04:02 > 0:04:05champions, but as Zinedine Zidane said, they were superior in all

0:04:05 > 0:04:10respects. I think it is probably a result that has changed perceptions

0:04:10 > 0:04:13of Spurs. They still have to win a Brophy and I think I will change

0:04:13 > 0:04:18perceptions more. -- win a trophy. But it's a shame people in Europe as

0:04:18 > 0:04:21well as in this country that they are on the rise and they are deemed

0:04:21 > 0:04:25to be taken seriously. Get in touch with us on social media, lots of

0:04:25 > 0:04:27tweets already on West Ham.

0:04:27 > 0:04:34Jessica says village, time is up, Mancini, Rafa or Ronald Koeman for

0:04:34 > 0:04:38the rest of the season, not David Moyes.Mike says it is certainly

0:04:38 > 0:04:42time for change, but David Moyes is not the man. Chris says time at but

0:04:42 > 0:04:46not David Moyes, failed at his last three clubs including 20th last

0:04:46 > 0:04:50year, you some of the money we have not spent to get some are different.

0:04:50 > 0:04:54Those are the feelings of the West Ham fans, they want change but they

0:04:54 > 0:04:59don't want David Moyes. Let's hear from the man who at the time we are

0:04:59 > 0:05:04speaking, is still in the job, Slaven Bilic. The players tried,

0:05:04 > 0:05:08what it not working at the moment. Lack of concentration, definitely,

0:05:08 > 0:05:17for a few goals. It is not the effort and it is not the

0:05:17 > 0:05:20application.When you say it is not working at the moment, what happens

0:05:20 > 0:05:24now with your personal situation? My situation is very difficult coming

0:05:24 > 0:05:29years. I knew that before the game. It has been for quite awhile now. It

0:05:29 > 0:05:34is game by game, you know, if you have a good result, now, you ease

0:05:34 > 0:05:37the pressure, and if you don't, the pressure mounts and at this moment,

0:05:37 > 0:05:48it is big and of course, the club is above everyone, every individual. We

0:05:48 > 0:05:52will see what the club is going to do now.Do you have to meet with the

0:05:52 > 0:05:56owners? Will you speak with them tonight?I don't know, we normally

0:05:56 > 0:06:02speak after every game, so, it is going to be most definitely the same

0:06:02 > 0:06:10after this one.As many times this season after a defeat, he looks like

0:06:10 > 0:06:16a man who knows that if time is up. I think it is very much his persona,

0:06:16 > 0:06:21Slaven Bilic. He is like that around the football scene all the time. I

0:06:21 > 0:06:24don't think it changes, when they are upbeat and when they are

0:06:24 > 0:06:28winning, it changes a bit. It goes up a slight amount but I think that

0:06:28 > 0:06:32is pretty much... I read an article about him, and he said that if his

0:06:32 > 0:06:36character, how he is. Clearly he's feeling the pressure, it goes

0:06:36 > 0:06:39without saying, and there are clearly a lot of things wrong there.

0:06:39 > 0:06:46Is he on his last legs? It sounds like it.What interests me in that,

0:06:46 > 0:06:51one of the things he said was he talked about it feeling like it was

0:06:51 > 0:06:54a game by game situation for him at the moment and that can't, that

0:06:54 > 0:06:59can't help anyone at a football club.I don't think it does. As you

0:06:59 > 0:07:03said, game by game, there's a few games ago, saying he

0:07:03 > 0:07:03said, game by game, there's a few games ago, saying he had a couple of

0:07:03 > 0:07:07games and he's not getting a results he wants. It is a difficult place,

0:07:07 > 0:07:11West Ham, it is a difficult place to manage, they have proved that down

0:07:11 > 0:07:13the years, the fans can turn quite quickly.

0:07:13 > 0:07:16the years, the fans can turn quite quickly. When you are getting the

0:07:16 > 0:07:21results, not playing the West Ham way, as people say, whether they

0:07:21 > 0:07:24play that way you'll don't come on the road they are conceding a lot of

0:07:24 > 0:07:29goals. He will find it difficult.I wonder at times whether it is not

0:07:29 > 0:07:30even the West Ham

0:07:30 > 0:07:32wonder at times whether it is not even the West Ham way, Oli, which is

0:07:32 > 0:07:36always an argument and has been one but it is also, we have discussed

0:07:36 > 0:07:40this before, for some of those players, look like you're bothered,

0:07:40 > 0:07:47look like you care, won't you?Every time I have watched West Ham lately,

0:07:47 > 0:07:53the past 12 months, they are awful. There are games where they worked

0:07:53 > 0:07:55and maybe I just don't see those games

0:07:55 > 0:07:57and maybe I just don't see those games but the games where I watch 90

0:07:57 > 0:08:01minutes of West Ham, they are invariably awful. Spiritless,

0:08:01 > 0:08:10spineless, gutless, witless and other such words. That end with

0:08:10 > 0:08:13less.You could see it coming yesterday, it wasn't only going to

0:08:13 > 0:08:16be defeat but it would be comprehensive and it could have been

0:08:16 > 0:08:20far more and they look like a team of players that have given up. I

0:08:20 > 0:08:23know it is never the case that they just give up but that stadium, which

0:08:23 > 0:08:28I think is a millstone around their necks, the atmosphere, the

0:08:28 > 0:08:30negativity around Slaven Bilic, the fact he's been undermined by the

0:08:30 > 0:08:36owners, I think...I know you say not give up but sometimes when you

0:08:36 > 0:08:41watch them, it feels a little bit like they give up. That may sound

0:08:41 > 0:08:45really hard but I think if you talk to West Ham fans, they will say that

0:08:45 > 0:08:48and you can see the players, I don't know about players that other teams

0:08:48 > 0:08:52but the hands go up and there is frustrating, when they concede one,

0:08:52 > 0:08:55they concede another quickly.I hated that other player and I hate

0:08:55 > 0:08:59watching it now, when players throw their hands up in the end -- near.

0:08:59 > 0:09:02Jonathan will tell you, as a team-mate, the last thing you want

0:09:02 > 0:09:05is honoured to be doing that to you, if you play the ball. Things are

0:09:05 > 0:09:09really tough. The atmosphere is bad off the pitch and on the pitch and

0:09:09 > 0:09:12the minute you make a mistake and you have your team-mate, who within

0:09:12 > 0:09:16your inner sanctum, part of your group, criticising you openly, it

0:09:16 > 0:09:19takes a particular character to be one that can actually handle it and

0:09:19 > 0:09:23take it on the chin and say, "You know what? We have to pull together.

0:09:23 > 0:09:28You make a mistake, fine, let's get on with it, don't put drums up and

0:09:28 > 0:09:34blame everyone else".I go with that 100%. But the West Ham players, what

0:09:34 > 0:09:37players are they trying to sign? They attract a certain type of

0:09:37 > 0:09:41player as well, paying big wages, picking up players that have maybe

0:09:41 > 0:09:47taken a step down from a bigger club, top four, top six club, so you

0:09:47 > 0:09:51are paying big wages but there's a reason they left those bigger clubs.

0:09:51 > 0:09:56So when you say, not trying, gutless, there's a reason why they

0:09:56 > 0:09:59left those big clubs, because they've got the talent so when you

0:09:59 > 0:10:04go to a team like West Ham and it's not going well, do they have the

0:10:04 > 0:10:09grit to get the results they need? I'm not singling out individuals but

0:10:09 > 0:10:13did you raise eyebrows when they paid over £20 million for Arnautovic

0:10:13 > 0:10:19who was a team-mate of yours at Stoke? He could turn it on last

0:10:19 > 0:10:25year, the past couple of years, turn it on and when he's on it, he is on

0:10:25 > 0:10:29it but how many games did he do it during the course of the season and

0:10:29 > 0:10:32would he do the other side of it was an issue with him? And could he do

0:10:32 > 0:10:36it consistently. For me, it was probably a good deal. But then

0:10:36 > 0:10:43again, it was probably a step up for him, probably doubling his wages or

0:10:43 > 0:10:48whatever he is on now he's there. He had to step up but has he done it?

0:10:48 > 0:10:53You would say that he hasn't. But when he is on it, he is on it but

0:10:53 > 0:10:56that seems the type of player they have got other club when things

0:10:56 > 0:11:01aren't going away, -- at the club and when things aren't going their

0:11:01 > 0:11:05way, yet, they won't be digging in, I wouldn't say.Going back to

0:11:05 > 0:11:09character, you need a certain type of character who can take it on

0:11:09 > 0:11:12board, take the added responsibility and actually try to lift your

0:11:12 > 0:11:17players around you and be capable of saying, "You know what? I'll make

0:11:17 > 0:11:22mistakes but I'm not going to let my head go down or give up or give the

0:11:22 > 0:11:25perception on giving up". I don't imagine any of the players are

0:11:25 > 0:11:31giving up, it is just the perception. The early game in the

0:11:31 > 0:11:34Championship, Middlesbrough already a goal up and Sunderland missed a

0:11:34 > 0:11:37chance at one end and Middlesbrough went down the other end to score so

0:11:37 > 0:11:43they are 1-0 up. Still goalless at Wembley. We understand West Ham are

0:11:43 > 0:11:47reviewing Slaven Bilic's position at the moment. His future will be

0:11:47 > 0:11:50decided in the next 48 hours but we also understand that talks are

0:11:50 > 0:11:56underway with David Moyes. As a possible replacement, which looking

0:11:56 > 0:11:59at the text messages and tweets that have come in and you have been

0:11:59 > 0:12:02looking at social media, which is a naturally negative place as well,

0:12:02 > 0:12:05that is the last person, one of the last people they want, judging by

0:12:05 > 0:12:11what West Ham fans are saying.Well, people can look at David Moyes and

0:12:11 > 0:12:15the past four years of his career, which have been a disaster Rob Lee

0:12:15 > 0:12:20from his point of view. I don't think I'm being unkind to him if I

0:12:20 > 0:12:23say that, Manchester United went as badly as it could have done, real

0:12:23 > 0:12:26Sociedad was clearly not a good career move, given he went there

0:12:26 > 0:12:30without the language and Sunderland I think was a club, was relegation

0:12:30 > 0:12:33waiting to happen and he was not able to lift the gloom which if

0:12:33 > 0:12:36anything deepened when he was there. This will be a similar kind of job

0:12:36 > 0:12:42if he goes there, lifting the gloom, energising a place. Now, he can do

0:12:42 > 0:12:46that, that is exactly what he did at Everton 15 years ago. He is the same

0:12:46 > 0:12:51guy, the same manager but whether these past four years mean that he

0:12:51 > 0:12:56would then come with the baggage... Do you think he is the... Only David

0:12:56 > 0:13:00would be able to do that but do you think he is the same guy, the same

0:13:00 > 0:13:05manager?I expect so, there has to be the question in terms of, I

0:13:05 > 0:13:08remember seeing him towards the end of last season at Sunderland, and he

0:13:08 > 0:13:14really looked like the weight of the world on his shoulders and I think

0:13:14 > 0:13:18when he is feeling pressure, you know, you can see it, he does not

0:13:18 > 0:13:24hide it well but he's had a break. West Ham are required which need a

0:13:24 > 0:13:30new start. -- are a club which need. It is a question of whether part of

0:13:30 > 0:13:33it... If he's being interviewed and comes across as someone who is

0:13:33 > 0:13:37pessimistic or negative or is saying, "It is going to be tough",

0:13:37 > 0:13:41maybe he is not the person for it but if it is the David Moyes who is

0:13:41 > 0:13:46looking refreshed and like he could energise it, it might be a good

0:13:46 > 0:13:56idea.So what does he say before they kick Open -- kick a ball? "We

0:13:56 > 0:14:00Are in a relegation fight?"He will have to say that and it's later in

0:14:00 > 0:14:03the season than when he took over at Sunderland. It's difficult, and for

0:14:03 > 0:14:07anyone when you sign, player or manager, people will always

0:14:07 > 0:14:11criticise you and won't be happy with it, as players you had it and

0:14:11 > 0:14:13as a manager, it is no different,

0:14:13 > 0:14:16with it, as players you had it and as a manager, it

0:14:16 > 0:14:17obviously, talking about David Moyes

0:14:17 > 0:14:19it is no different, obviously, talking about David

0:14:19 > 0:14:19'

0:14:19 > 0:14:22' record since he left Everton, it has been Paul Wood is not to say he

0:14:22 > 0:14:23is not a good manager.

0:14:23 > 0:14:24has been Paul Wood is not to say he is not a good manager. Whatever has

0:14:24 > 0:14:27happened in the past is in the past and it's up to him to prove the

0:14:27 > 0:14:27critics

0:14:27 > 0:14:30Is West Ham the right job for him, he would say 100%, only time will

0:14:30 > 0:14:33tell whether or not he is effective enough to help West Ham progress and

0:14:33 > 0:14:35get themselves out of the bidding and they are in.

0:14:35 > 0:14:37At 2.15pm, the leaders Manchester City play

0:14:37 > 0:14:38Arsenal at the Etihad.

0:14:38 > 0:14:46Jonathan Pearce is commentating on the game for Match of the Day 2.

0:14:46 > 0:14:51Let me ask you a question on West Ham, we have spoken a lot about West

0:14:51 > 0:14:55Ham over the years, what kind of manager do you think they need at

0:14:55 > 0:14:59the moment?I think they need a manager to keep them in the Premier

0:14:59 > 0:15:05League, two win over the fans very quickly, they are unique fans in

0:15:05 > 0:15:09many ways. They like to see attractive football, they are not

0:15:09 > 0:15:14seeing it at the moment. They need a manager to get the players fit. They

0:15:14 > 0:15:18have not bought into Slaven Bilic over recent weeks, he has looked a

0:15:18 > 0:15:23beaten man. They need a positive manager. I have been listening to

0:15:23 > 0:15:27the boys in the studio, it is very important David comes in with a

0:15:27 > 0:15:34positive frame of mind. Any manager after Ferguson would have struggled.

0:15:34 > 0:15:38Let us judge him on his previous Everton record. He is a good coach,

0:15:38 > 0:15:44good manager, but the West Ham fans need a manager to win a couple of

0:15:44 > 0:15:49home games in a good style.Speaking of style, how do you expect Arsenal

0:15:49 > 0:15:56to approach this this afternoon? How do you take on Manchester City at

0:15:56 > 0:16:00the moment? 14 wins in a row. They came here a couple of years ago and

0:16:00 > 0:16:06did a job. They have not got the personnel to do that now. The back

0:16:06 > 0:16:10three, people have worked him out, Francis Cocker land. He has not

0:16:10 > 0:16:17progressed. They are more resilient this season, beyond the terrible

0:16:17 > 0:16:21performance against Liverpool. I think they have to attack.

0:16:21 > 0:16:26Manchester City can shred any team. Arsenal cannot sit back and hope,

0:16:26 > 0:16:30Sanchez, massive game for him. Nearly moved to Manchester City in

0:16:30 > 0:16:37the summer, he wanted to come here. If he is hungry, if Mesut Ozil is

0:16:37 > 0:16:41hungry, maybe they can stop Manchester City. The most glorious

0:16:41 > 0:16:45attacking football side, to have this long a run that I can remember,

0:16:45 > 0:16:57I have been doing this job a long time. They went to Napoli and they

0:16:57 > 0:17:01were outstanding. That was got lost because of Spurs and how they did

0:17:01 > 0:17:06against Real Madrid. They went to Napoli and put four past them,

0:17:06 > 0:17:12Sergio Aguero broke the club's goal-scoring record, it should make

0:17:12 > 0:17:18Europe a notice.A special guard of honour today here as well. Members

0:17:18 > 0:17:24of the England's World Cup success last week, they will be welcoming

0:17:24 > 0:17:28him onto the pitch, creating another record last week at West Brom,

0:17:28 > 0:17:32number of passes in the Premier League since records began. Pep

0:17:32 > 0:17:37Guardiola has not done in the easy way. It is not just getting

0:17:37 > 0:17:40full-backs coming forward, it is getting them coming inside,

0:17:40 > 0:17:44old-fashioned. Different sort of game to learn at this stage in their

0:17:44 > 0:17:52career, so simple in one way, intricate and another. People said

0:17:52 > 0:17:56it was glorious when he was at Barcelona. This is something

0:17:56 > 0:18:01special. I do a lot of work in European football, a lot of people

0:18:01 > 0:18:05on the European scene, yes, they are saying Tottenham are fantastic, but

0:18:05 > 0:18:08the team they are talking about to win the Champions League this season

0:18:08 > 0:18:15from England, Manchester City.Thank you. Jonathan Pearce doing the game

0:18:15 > 0:18:19for Match of the Day 2 later on. Think they can win the Champions

0:18:19 > 0:18:25League? It is wide open.On current form, you would think they can win

0:18:25 > 0:18:32anything but we are only ten games into the season, a long way to go.

0:18:32 > 0:18:36At the moment, they cannot do anything more than what they are

0:18:36 > 0:18:41doing. They are definitely the team to beat. You wrote this week that

0:18:41 > 0:18:46Pep Guardiola is a magician. What did you mean by that and were you

0:18:46 > 0:18:50surprised at the response to the article? The largely negative

0:18:50 > 0:18:57response?Yeah.A strange thing with Pep Guardiola, people in this

0:18:57 > 0:19:03country think he got lucky because he inherited Messi at Barcelona, got

0:19:03 > 0:19:09lucky because he went to Bayern Munich, got lucky to go to Man City.

0:19:09 > 0:19:13I agree with people when they say, we do not know how good he would be

0:19:13 > 0:19:20with a lesser club. His style is suited to a particular type of

0:19:20 > 0:19:25player which is an elite player, not just in terms of technique, but

0:19:25 > 0:19:29intelligence as well. When people say, would he be able to do it at

0:19:29 > 0:19:34this club? Those are legitimate questions. But what he is doing is

0:19:34 > 0:19:39absolutely fantastic. As Jonathan said, it is not just the results,

0:19:39 > 0:19:46the numbers, the number of passes, goals, points, it is the way...

0:19:46 > 0:19:54Nothing like the obvious way of spending £200 million. He has not

0:19:54 > 0:20:00done what Jose Mourinho did. He has bought expensive full-backs that

0:20:00 > 0:20:08everyone said were overpriced, he bought Jesus and Sane. Everybody

0:20:08 > 0:20:13thought they will need time. How will they go with Sergio Aguero? He

0:20:13 > 0:20:20has got Kevin De Bruyne in central midfield. Far from the obvious. What

0:20:20 > 0:20:24he is producing, what the team are producing, it is fantastic.I think

0:20:24 > 0:20:29that point on the far from doing the obvious, quite interesting. Several

0:20:29 > 0:20:34of those players that you mentioned, the same happened at Barcelona and

0:20:34 > 0:20:40Bayern Munich, you can see players improving under him. You can see his

0:20:40 > 0:20:44coaching, whatever they have spent, you can see the coaching effect. I

0:20:44 > 0:20:47am guessing in your career the managers you have most enjoyed

0:20:47 > 0:20:52playing for are the ones that have improved you as a footballer?

0:20:52 > 0:20:56Definitely. When he came in last year and he started very well as

0:20:56 > 0:20:59well and a lot of people were happy he failed because people were

0:20:59 > 0:21:05saying, as you have said, he was lucky with the teams he has got, not

0:21:05 > 0:21:10built himself up. He is therefore a recent and he has won for a reason.

0:21:10 > 0:21:15When he is at the club, maybe not the first year, give him a few

0:21:15 > 0:21:19transfer windows, let him coach and build the team, that is what he has

0:21:19 > 0:21:25done. Not so much about the passing. You can have 80% possession, does

0:21:25 > 0:21:29not matter, it is how they use the ball, constantly probed, Sergio

0:21:29 > 0:21:34Aguero always threatening, the interchange in midfield, the

0:21:34 > 0:21:38full-backs... It is not a standard formation they play. Very hard to

0:21:38 > 0:21:42play against. As you said, it looks like everyone is improving under

0:21:42 > 0:21:47him.When we talked about Burnley at Burns, you concentrate on your own,

0:21:47 > 0:21:52you talk about your own performances, but when you played

0:21:52 > 0:21:56City, a penalty that gave them the lead, at the end of the game, are

0:21:56 > 0:22:00you more mentally exhausted than against any other team?Yeah, when

0:22:00 > 0:22:05you play against a team like City, a lot of the time you up in your own

0:22:05 > 0:22:1318-yard box defending, as a striker, it is constant concentration. That

0:22:13 > 0:22:18is the Premier League, but more with City. They pass it to drag someone

0:22:18 > 0:22:23out to exploit the gap you have left, it is constant through 90

0:22:23 > 0:22:27minutes. You are right, you come off mentally exhausted.I think he is

0:22:27 > 0:22:35taking his time and he has admitted that. You could argue throughout the

0:22:35 > 0:22:38team there have been, I think, marginal improvements in some

0:22:38 > 0:22:45players last season, some have stood still. This season, he has spent a

0:22:45 > 0:22:50lot of money, brought in players, and they are playing the most

0:22:50 > 0:22:55attractive and the best football on the planet. I have spoken to Kevin

0:22:55 > 0:23:00De Bruyne and Vincent Kompany off record quietly about him gully them

0:23:00 > 0:23:05and they cannot say enough about Pep Guardiola -- about him. They say he

0:23:05 > 0:23:09is phenomenal, the best they have worked with. Best they have ever

0:23:09 > 0:23:13seen. And that he is something special.Because of how he improves

0:23:13 > 0:23:18them? The way he wants to play. They feel there is an enormous amount of

0:23:18 > 0:23:22improvement they will make under him. When I spoke especially to

0:23:22 > 0:23:29Kevin, it was at the end of last season when I spoke to him and he

0:23:29 > 0:23:33said that already, tactically, the way he has the players playing or

0:23:33 > 0:23:37the way he wants them to play, communication with them, it was the

0:23:37 > 0:23:41best. He obviously bought into it completely which is obvious. You

0:23:41 > 0:23:45still get a lot of people think he has the best players. If you asked a

0:23:45 > 0:23:52Man United fan, do a combined team of Manchester City, Manchester

0:23:52 > 0:23:57United, it would be full of Man United players. Those players

0:23:57 > 0:24:03reputation me, Raheem Sterling, half of the country seems to think Raheem

0:24:03 > 0:24:07Sterling is useless, he is far from useless. John Stones, Raheem

0:24:07 > 0:24:15Sterling, playing out of their skin, Fernandinho, look to be fading,

0:24:15 > 0:24:19David Silva, looked to be fading, new lease of life now. It is not

0:24:19 > 0:24:23just the number of goals, if you look at the quality of the goals, I

0:24:23 > 0:24:28know you do not get extra points for nice goals, but they are Barcelona

0:24:28 > 0:24:33type goals they are scoring, lovely little interchanges, unselfish in to

0:24:33 > 0:24:39cut loose. These are goals we felt in the past but only Barcelona

0:24:39 > 0:24:46score.If you are a fan and you could choose to watch majesty and or

0:24:46 > 0:24:53City? It is entertainment as well -- you could choose Manchester United

0:24:53 > 0:24:56or city? If you are going to watch them, you would enjoy watching them

0:24:56 > 0:25:02and you would want to see how they play and use the ball. That is the

0:25:02 > 0:25:08way it is. Probably best asking social media this afternoon!

0:25:08 > 0:25:12#bbcfootball if you want to get in touch. We will

0:25:12 > 0:25:16go back to Wembley in a moment. Arsene Wenger said we have an

0:25:16 > 0:25:20opportunity to show we can deal with these games and I am sure we can, we

0:25:20 > 0:25:24will not hide, the best way to defend sometimes is to attack. Can

0:25:24 > 0:25:30they get something out of this?Of course they can. Arsenal have to

0:25:30 > 0:25:41press high. They have pace. Can they deal with the likes of what City

0:25:41 > 0:25:45have upfront? Only time will tell. They have got the pace to play a

0:25:45 > 0:25:50higher line, they cannot allow City to come on then, they have to put

0:25:50 > 0:25:53them under pressure. Early on. Engage with them further up the

0:25:53 > 0:25:58pitch. Forced the errors. Use Mesut Ozil, Sanchez, Alexandre Lacazette,

0:25:58 > 0:26:05to expose them.

0:26:05 > 0:26:08Tony Husband has had the better opportunities.I would say Crystal

0:26:08 > 0:26:15Palace have had the best chance but they are conceding most possession.

0:26:15 > 0:26:19No surprise there. There are waves of white shirts coming at them.

0:26:19 > 0:26:24Spurs have not created a lot. Rose with a misplaced header. Harry Kane

0:26:24 > 0:26:28from close range as well. Best chance the Crystal Palace. An

0:26:28 > 0:26:35opportunity deflected! Scott Dann has had the best opportunity of a

0:26:35 > 0:26:41largely quiet first half, a header saved by Gazzaniga from the Crystal

0:26:41 > 0:26:46Palace corner. Approaching half-time, still 0-0 at Wembley.

0:26:46 > 0:26:50There are always managers under pressure, but after yesterday,

0:26:50 > 0:26:57Slaven Bilic, Tony Pulis, Paul Clement at Swansea as well, several

0:26:57 > 0:27:01under pressure. Whereas normally we would say, it is a little bit

0:27:01 > 0:27:05unfair, do you think it is right they are under pressure at the

0:27:05 > 0:27:09moment, given how the clubs are performing?Paul Clement went in at

0:27:09 > 0:27:14Swansea and did an excellent job, January of last year, remarkable

0:27:14 > 0:27:24turnaround. Somewhat under looked at the time. This season, it looks like

0:27:24 > 0:27:28it is a different challenge altogether. Looks like he needs to

0:27:28 > 0:27:32find a new trick. West Brom, Isil Sam Allardyce on Match of the Day

0:27:32 > 0:27:37last night and he was saying, with Tony Pulis, you stay up. -- eye

0:27:37 > 0:27:45sore. It might be a stick or twist situation. The fans might think,

0:27:45 > 0:27:50twist, something more exciting. If you win just two of your last 20

0:27:50 > 0:27:55Premier League games, if you continue that form, you are going

0:27:55 > 0:27:59down.I agree, but I thought they started the season off looking

0:27:59 > 0:28:08promising. It seems like they have had a bad month, a bad six weeks.

0:28:08 > 0:28:13You might say, a bad six months, eight months. I do not think they

0:28:13 > 0:28:19will go down. That might be a very negative way of looking at it, but I

0:28:19 > 0:28:23think they will be taking more of a risk if they went for a more

0:28:23 > 0:28:30exciting younger manager who would open West Brom up.Let us hear from

0:28:30 > 0:28:38Tony Pulis. His comments after this defeat at Huddersfield yesterday.I

0:28:38 > 0:28:42am disappointed professionally. It hurts to go such a long time without

0:28:42 > 0:28:47winning a game. Things conspire against you at times and you do not

0:28:47 > 0:28:51get the breaks and things do not go for you. As I have said, I'm strong

0:28:51 > 0:28:56enough and old enough to resist it. Need the players. I worry about the

0:28:56 > 0:29:00players more than anything else.You don't worry about outside criticism?

0:29:00 > 0:29:06No. I have been here too long to listen to outside criticism. The big

0:29:06 > 0:29:11thing is that you have a belief in yourself. This football club, I have

0:29:11 > 0:29:22been here nearly three years,

0:29:25 > 0:29:28when I took over, it was in poor condition, it is better now, better

0:29:28 > 0:29:30placed than what we were, and we have gradually got better and

0:29:30 > 0:29:32better. The first bump we have had. You have to accept, irrespective of

0:29:32 > 0:29:35what you have done before, nobody cares about that, it is what you do

0:29:35 > 0:29:38now that counts.Tom Harper, with a run of form like this since Arsenal

0:29:38 > 0:29:42in March, Tony Pulis is lucky to be in with the job. If you cannot keep

0:29:42 > 0:29:49clean sheets with nine defensive plays, no point. Gordon, if they

0:29:49 > 0:29:55sacked him, that answers your question... In the bigger picture,

0:29:55 > 0:29:59he touched on it there, good enough to keep them up, do you find it

0:29:59 > 0:30:03quite depressing, a lot of clubs might be looking at somebody who

0:30:03 > 0:30:08will keep them up, rather than being a bit more ambitious and

0:30:08 > 0:30:13entertaining?It goes to show how important it is to stay in the lead,

0:30:13 > 0:30:17the financial repercussions of relegation.Is this a league at the

0:30:17 > 0:30:24moment that is must not lose rather than a must win?

0:30:24 > 0:30:29For the vast majority, it seems yes, I think it is a case of survival for

0:30:29 > 0:30:33over half of the teams in the league because of the financial

0:30:33 > 0:30:35repercussions. I think the development of the club, and what

0:30:35 > 0:30:37they will say, they will

0:30:37 > 0:30:37development of the club, and what they will say, they will look at any

0:30:37 > 0:30:41club, whether it is West Ham, says Slaven Bilic loses his job and

0:30:41 > 0:30:44whoever comes in, if it is a short-term appointment until the end

0:30:44 > 0:30:47of the season, it is purely on the basis to keep them in the league,

0:30:47 > 0:30:53then they will reassess, either off-season or preseason, to go, "OK,

0:30:53 > 0:30:56we've reassessed, we've got to bring in the right manager, the right

0:30:56 > 0:30:59players and take the step forward so we are no longer fighting and

0:30:59 > 0:31:01scrapping to stay in the league and then start to look.

0:31:01 > 0:31:03scrapping to stay in the league and then start to look. It

0:31:03 > 0:31:03scrapping to stay in the league and then start to look. It is a gradual

0:31:03 > 0:31:03progression.

0:31:03 > 0:31:05then start to look. It is a gradual progression. If you look at West

0:31:05 > 0:31:08Brom as an example, Tony Pulis is an excellent manager, you can argue all

0:31:08 > 0:31:11day long about the style of football that he plays and at times it is

0:31:11 > 0:31:17boring but there's a lot of teams out there that do that as well every

0:31:17 > 0:31:20now and again. He gets the results time and again. He creates stability

0:31:20 > 0:31:23in the club. Fans over a period of time get bored with it, almost, they

0:31:23 > 0:31:28get sick and tired of it, they would almost sometimes rather have the

0:31:28 > 0:31:32highs and lows relegation and surviving on the last day of the

0:31:32 > 0:31:37season as opposed to having that consistency and staying up, what

0:31:37 > 0:31:40were they, eight or nine games before the end of the season they

0:31:40 > 0:31:46were staying up, and for West Brom, that is an incredible achievement.I

0:31:46 > 0:31:50find there are not that many really entertaining games at the moment but

0:31:50 > 0:31:53then is it easier said than done to be entertaining in a Premier League?

0:31:53 > 0:31:57Is it easy for me to sit on my settee with my crisps and my beer

0:31:57 > 0:32:04like a fat man, going, "Go on then, professional players, entertain me".

0:32:04 > 0:32:06It is an entertainment sport although it is a business and as a

0:32:06 > 0:32:10club owner, what do you want? You want to stay in the Prem you league.

0:32:10 > 0:32:14The way the gap has grown as well, the way the money is going in

0:32:14 > 0:32:18football, it is only going one way so you want a manager who is keeping

0:32:18 > 0:32:22you in the league. West Brom fans need to be careful what they wish

0:32:22 > 0:32:28for because not too long ago, they were a yo-yo club.He is the kind of

0:32:28 > 0:32:33man, Izzy, that he won't let it bother him, the criticism? No, he

0:32:33 > 0:32:39does not bother with social media. No!He is too long in the tooth and

0:32:39 > 0:32:46it won't bother him one bit.Is eager to play for?Yeah, I enjoyed

0:32:46 > 0:32:51it.He looks after people, like a father figure? We were always the

0:32:51 > 0:32:54underdogs, similar at West Brom, so it was all with a battle, whoever

0:32:54 > 0:32:57you are planning against, no one liked playing off at Stoke at the

0:32:57 > 0:33:03time. You ask any player and nobody like I didn't. You used to run into

0:33:03 > 0:33:08me all the time and go, bang! Jonathan Boyd absolutely hammer you.

0:33:08 > 0:33:16I got him once, actually.That's entertainment, I like that!It is

0:33:16 > 0:33:21what you want, isn't it? Be careful what you wish for because what do

0:33:21 > 0:33:25West Ham want now? They want a manager to come in and keep them up.

0:33:25 > 0:33:28The manager will come in and get results and what will they want

0:33:28 > 0:33:32then? Entertainment and then they will be struggling, and then they

0:33:32 > 0:33:36will get rid of the manager. Who is an ideal manager for West Ham now?

0:33:36 > 0:33:40It would be Sam Allardyce, for me. What happened with Sam Allardyce at

0:33:40 > 0:33:45West Ham? They wanted him out.Let me throw someone in that was

0:33:45 > 0:33:48suggested, it is half-time at Wembley, goals, we will gather in a

0:33:48 > 0:33:53moment but they said, "Why not Brendan Rodgers for West Ham?"Why

0:33:53 > 0:34:04would Brendan Rodgers go to West Ham, seriously?Dave did not say

0:34:04 > 0:34:06why, I don't know.Brendan Rodgers is that Celtic, doing brilliantly,

0:34:06 > 0:34:08almost halfway through his second season and he's not lost, people

0:34:08 > 0:34:11will say it is only Scotland but this is not the norm for managers in

0:34:11 > 0:34:14Scotland, they will probably... They will probably going into the Europa

0:34:14 > 0:34:19League and they will have a good run, and if Brendan Rodgers is

0:34:19 > 0:34:23looking beyond Celtic, it is bigger than West Ham. I know West Ham fans

0:34:23 > 0:34:25will say that West Ham are bigger than Celtic, they've got more money,

0:34:25 > 0:34:31currently at Brendan Rodgers, having had probably one bad season in his

0:34:31 > 0:34:37career, for which he is remembered, should be, if he is looking beyond

0:34:37 > 0:34:40Celtic, should be looking at bigger job than West Ham because West Ham

0:34:40 > 0:34:44is a relegation fight. People said Benitez earlier, why would he

0:34:44 > 0:34:47swapped Newcastle for allegation fight at West Ham? It's not a good

0:34:47 > 0:34:51job at the moment.May be why wouldn't they consider Brendan

0:34:51 > 0:34:56Rodgers?They should but he should say no.Because he's in Scotland.He

0:34:56 > 0:35:00would be perfect for Everton for a variety of reasons -- but for a

0:35:00 > 0:35:04variety of reasons, the Liverpool stigma, the fact he is otherwise

0:35:04 > 0:35:08engaged at Celtic, that won't happen but he would be ideal for any club

0:35:08 > 0:35:13who was thinking, well, let's be more, let's survive and then do

0:35:13 > 0:35:19more. He should have bigger fish to fry, though. But is it a case that

0:35:19 > 0:35:23he's almost scarred from his Liverpool experience? He needs time

0:35:23 > 0:35:27away to regain his confidence, which obviously, he clearly has. He's at

0:35:27 > 0:35:31Celtic where he can do no wrong. But the big question is, over a period

0:35:31 > 0:35:36of time, it gets to the point where you have dominated everything, he

0:35:36 > 0:35:39has won everything, European football, they cannot compete at the

0:35:39 > 0:35:43Champions League level, they have shown it time and they just can't so

0:35:43 > 0:35:46the next challenge for him is to come back and managed in the biggest

0:35:46 > 0:35:53leading the the perennially. Is -- in the Premier League. Is West Ham

0:35:53 > 0:35:57bigger than Celtic? It probably isn't in terms of like-for-like but

0:35:57 > 0:36:00in terms of where they are playing, it is the Premier League, the

0:36:00 > 0:36:05hardest league to manage and playing in the world.Don't forget, he

0:36:05 > 0:36:10nearly won the league with Liverpool.Absolutely. I'm enjoying

0:36:10 > 0:36:16being part of the back they missed out on that. Are the three of you

0:36:16 > 0:36:21trying to alienate every Premier League van at some point? Let's go

0:36:21 > 0:36:25to me, half-time between Spurs and Crystal Palace, as Tony husband been

0:36:25 > 0:36:28entertained?I was listening to you talking about the crisps and beer

0:36:28 > 0:36:31and watching entertaining football on the side bar, and I was thinking

0:36:31 > 0:36:35this is not one of those games for entertainment, largely uninspiring

0:36:35 > 0:36:39first half but Roy Hodgson will probably be quite happy because his

0:36:39 > 0:36:41side have defended solidly, broken with pace and Wilfried Zaha has been

0:36:41 > 0:36:45a threat and Scott Dann forced the only real save our behalf, the

0:36:45 > 0:36:49debited keeper Gazzaniga keeping his head out from a corner. Tottenham

0:36:49 > 0:36:54without the injured Dele Alli, not quite on it, Rose and Kane with

0:36:54 > 0:37:02headers of target after the Lord may's show, I fear.

0:37:02 > 0:37:06Time to talk a quick bit of Burnley. Is this one of the best squads you

0:37:06 > 0:37:11have been in in terms of character as well as ability? It is quite

0:37:11 > 0:37:15similar to the Stoke squad when I first joined. Similar mentality,

0:37:15 > 0:37:22similar type of player. And a similar way of approaching every

0:37:22 > 0:37:26game. It is quite similar. Obviously, they have come up and

0:37:26 > 0:37:32stayed up, a big test for the team, for me, is not the first year in the

0:37:32 > 0:37:35Premier League, it is the second, when teams are used to you and the

0:37:35 > 0:37:39players get a bit of an ego and think they have almost made it,

0:37:39 > 0:37:43they've done it, you know, they've achieved staying in the Premier

0:37:43 > 0:37:45League from the Championship and the big test is the second season. We

0:37:45 > 0:37:50have started really well. It is only early days. Plenty of teams we have

0:37:50 > 0:37:53seen that have done really well by November, look at Hull a few

0:37:53 > 0:37:54seen that have done really well by November, look at Hull a few years

0:37:54 > 0:37:57back and suddenly, they go crashing down but I can't see it happening

0:37:57 > 0:38:00with us. I think the mentality of the players and the staff, the

0:38:00 > 0:38:05manager, it won't change, I don't think we will be allowed to change.

0:38:05 > 0:38:08I'm assuming it does not surprise you he gets linked

0:38:08 > 0:38:09I'm assuming it does not surprise you he gets linked with so many

0:38:09 > 0:38:13jobs?Not in the position we are in, seventh in the league and of course

0:38:13 > 0:38:19he will get linked with the other jobs. But everything he's put in

0:38:19 > 0:38:22place behind the scenes that maybe we don't see, the sports science and

0:38:22 > 0:38:28the training and all of that, we've heard from former Burnley players

0:38:28 > 0:38:31and current players I have spoken to about it, it is very sophisticated.

0:38:31 > 0:38:35He's across everything.Yeah, and I was not there last year, we've just

0:38:35 > 0:38:39moved into the new training ground so I was not there when we were in

0:38:39 > 0:38:43the old building in the same place. It is a joy to go into training

0:38:43 > 0:38:49everyday in the building we are in. He has complete control and the way

0:38:49 > 0:38:51he picked the team up in the Championship, he has complete

0:38:51 > 0:38:54control because of where we are at. Whether he would get

0:38:54 > 0:38:56control because of where we are at. Whether he would get that at another

0:38:56 > 0:39:00club, because you go into a big club, there's already structures in

0:39:00 > 0:39:07place, no disrespect to any of our players, you have got bigger

0:39:07 > 0:39:11so-called players to deal with an bigger wages and you bring in egos

0:39:11 > 0:39:16and different things into the mix and that can cause its own problems.

0:39:16 > 0:39:17Would he have complete control

0:39:17 > 0:39:17and that can cause its own problems. Would he have complete control over

0:39:17 > 0:39:22those buyers? It could cause a problem.How I've read have you been

0:39:22 > 0:39:25with Chris Wood? He's been good, obviously started really well,

0:39:25 > 0:39:30scored a lot of goals to begin with. He is a striker that he might be

0:39:30 > 0:39:35quiet for a lot of the game but he has got the goals, hasn't he? He has

0:39:35 > 0:39:38come in and started really well. It is a different formation to what we

0:39:38 > 0:39:44were playing last year because from what I no, we are

0:39:44 > 0:39:45were playing last year because from what I no, we are playing one up

0:39:45 > 0:39:48front instead of two. Most of the games, although yesterday we

0:39:48 > 0:39:53finished with two, it is a difficult position. We are not scared to do

0:39:53 > 0:40:00it. We have got the players, lots of underrated players in that position.

0:40:00 > 0:40:01it. We have got the players, lots of underrated players in that position.

0:40:01 > 0:40:04When you talked about dealing with egos at other clubs as far as

0:40:04 > 0:40:07players, do you also think because he's been linked with a lot of jobs,

0:40:07 > 0:40:11Sean Dyche, in the last couple of years, do you also think because he

0:40:11 > 0:40:16is very... He seems particular about he will probably want his staff to

0:40:16 > 0:40:20go with him if he went to another club, he would probably want to set

0:40:20 > 0:40:26the club up, revamp the whole club, do you think there are some chairman

0:40:26 > 0:40:30or owners who are stuck in their own ways, their club does things a

0:40:30 > 0:40:35certain way and that intimidate them in some ways?Yeah, I think there is

0:40:35 > 0:40:41that. I think people would also say, can his style translate to what we

0:40:41 > 0:40:45want to do? Going back to the question of entertainment, with a

0:40:45 > 0:40:50club like Everton or indeed a club like West Ham think, "He's not going

0:40:50 > 0:40:54to fit the Everton way or the West Ham weight"

0:40:54 > 0:40:55to fit the Everton way or the West Ham weight". Beggars can't be dues

0:40:55 > 0:41:02is in some ways. -- can't be choosers. But I think, the style,

0:41:02 > 0:41:09the structural control that he demands or seeks, it might put

0:41:09 > 0:41:12people off. But what is clear that he is a very good manager who

0:41:12 > 0:41:18deserves, when he feels like it, he needs to move on, he deserves a shot

0:41:18 > 0:41:24at a good job.I think for someone like Everton, Sean Dyche would

0:41:24 > 0:41:28almost be perfect because of that attitude, that never say die

0:41:28 > 0:41:32attitude, the determination and grit and hard work. That is what Everton

0:41:32 > 0:41:36fans associate with. I remember playing them in their time under

0:41:36 > 0:41:41David Moyes, they were grafters, they let you know they were at home,

0:41:41 > 0:41:44on the pitch. Plus they had a bit of extra quality which he has got in

0:41:44 > 0:41:48that squad at Everton and I think Sean Dyche could come in and really

0:41:48 > 0:41:52galvanise the team and the squad of players and creates that connection

0:41:52 > 0:41:57again with the fans. But the club would have to buy into that. At the

0:41:57 > 0:42:01moment, they have a director of football. There are still members of

0:42:01 > 0:42:04staff who were there under Ronald Koeman and probably Roberto Martinez

0:42:04 > 0:42:08as well. They've gone in a different direction with the new ownership,

0:42:08 > 0:42:11they want to play at a high level, a different style of football and they

0:42:11 > 0:42:14have brought in more footballing staff and players, with the way

0:42:14 > 0:42:17Ronald Koeman wanted to play but it has not worked and what do they do?

0:42:17 > 0:42:23Do they try to continue but now and the end of the season? Do they find

0:42:23 > 0:42:26a manager, like we mentioned, just to stabilise them and get them into

0:42:26 > 0:42:29a good position from now on to the end of the season? Going back to, we

0:42:29 > 0:42:33are only ten games in but their confidence I don't think can get any

0:42:33 > 0:42:39lower.We've only got about one minute left. Chelsea and Manchester

0:42:39 > 0:42:42United will have coverage everywhere, so we only have a minute

0:42:42 > 0:42:47to talk about it! Are you surprised, quickly, that Jose Mourinho seems to

0:42:47 > 0:42:52have started picking fights with the United fans in the last week or so?

0:42:52 > 0:42:57I think a lot of it is about he's very calculating. Is it about

0:42:57 > 0:43:00protecting the players?I think it's a lot about that, it is about the

0:43:00 > 0:43:04team, some part of it is about him, of course, but he is someone who is

0:43:04 > 0:43:08all with calculated about what he does and in what he does. If he is

0:43:08 > 0:43:11fighting with the fans, it is because he feels that maybe they are

0:43:11 > 0:43:16not giving the players the respect, the team the respect they deserve,

0:43:16 > 0:43:20considering the circumstances, the injuries they've got, he very rarely

0:43:20 > 0:43:23comes out and complains about the injuries, he just gets on with it.

0:43:23 > 0:43:27And he's acquired a very good squad but at the moment, it's not at full

0:43:27 > 0:43:31strength with injuries.Rio Ferdinand in the Sunday Times says

0:43:31 > 0:43:36right now, Chelsea are there to be smashed, taken apart. He says United

0:43:36 > 0:43:41should start all three of Lukaku, Rashford and Martial. We will see a

0:43:41 > 0:43:45bit later whether he does that. Chelsea and Manchester United is on

0:43:45 > 0:43:48Radio 5Live later and the second half of Spurs against Crystal Palace

0:43:48 > 0:43:54is now. Thank you to all of you. We will see you for Match of the Day to

0:43:54 > 0:43:57later to write with Ian White and Alan Shearer. Goodbye.
