:00:30. > :00:32.Good afternoon, welcome to MOTD 2 Extra on BBC Two,

:00:33. > :00:37.Radio 5 Live and the BBC Sport website.

:00:38. > :00:39.Joining me today Leicester keeper Mark Schwarzer,

:00:40. > :00:45.journalist Amy Lawrence and Match of the Day commentator Guy Mowbray.

:00:46. > :00:47.Use the hashtag #bbcfootball on social media, or text 85058

:00:48. > :01:01.We will be discussing Lester's crowning moment.

:01:02. > :01:02.Coming up: Leicester are crowned Champions.

:01:03. > :01:05.We'll reflect on an emotional day at the King Power.

:01:06. > :01:07.Sunderland are on the verge of survival after beating Chelsea 3-2.

:01:08. > :01:09.Norwich's hopes of staying up look precarious -

:01:10. > :01:12.they're now 4 points from safety with just 2 games remaining.

:01:13. > :01:15.And we'll look ahead to a big game at the Etihad,

:01:16. > :01:16.where Manchester City face Arsenal at 4 o'clock.

:01:17. > :01:19.A number of the back pages have turned blue in Leicester's honour,

:01:20. > :01:24.It has the headline Happy And Glorious.

:01:25. > :01:26.The Sunday Mirror focuses on Middlesbrough's promotion

:01:27. > :01:28.to the Premier League with the headline "Bo-nanza",

:01:29. > :01:32.saying Boro win a ?200 million shoot out.

:01:33. > :01:38.Quique Sanchez Flores will be on the shortlist to replace

:01:39. > :01:42.Roberto Martinez at Everton and that Ryan Giggs will quit

:01:43. > :01:44.Manchester United if Jose Mourinho is given

:01:45. > :01:58.Only one place to start. Guy Mowbray was at the King Power Stadium

:01:59. > :02:05.yesterday. Why are you here?! Surely you should still be celebrating? We

:02:06. > :02:09.are very grateful that you are here. I am sure some of my team-mates will

:02:10. > :02:15.still be celebrating but it was a little bit different for me. I have

:02:16. > :02:18.not played a single minute. I was completely overwhelmed and excited

:02:19. > :02:24.and happy for the boys and what they accomplished. It has been fantastic

:02:25. > :02:29.to sit back and watch the club are involved in the 18 months that I

:02:30. > :02:32.have been there. Go from relegation certainties to winning the

:02:33. > :02:38.Premiership. It has been reported time and again what an incredible

:02:39. > :02:44.story it is. When you had finished your lap to of honour, what did you

:02:45. > :02:50.do? We sat around in the changing room for a bit. We chatted. The

:02:51. > :02:55.dressing room was pretty quiet because pretty much every single one

:02:56. > :03:03.of them was on their phones! The youth of today! It is incredible. I

:03:04. > :03:12.cannot even count the number of times I have said, was it me? Was it

:03:13. > :03:16.something I said? Half of them do not lift their heads from their

:03:17. > :03:23.phones. That is just the kids today. It was very well managed. It was

:03:24. > :03:26.absolutely superb. You would not have thought they had never won the

:03:27. > :03:31.title before. They looked like seasoned professionals. The club

:03:32. > :03:36.itself, there was a lovely touch were medals were handed out to the

:03:37. > :03:41.children of the players. That was absolutely lovely. That was from the

:03:42. > :03:46.club, I think. It went smoothly. It was celebratory from the morning all

:03:47. > :03:53.the way through to the early hours. It was a privilege and a joy to be

:03:54. > :03:58.there. If our home is anything to go by, I do not think three generations

:03:59. > :04:03.of my family would have crowded around the telly for previous

:04:04. > :04:07.celebrations. Everybody made a point of being in front of the telly to

:04:08. > :04:13.watch the trophy. That is what this story is about? I agree. We have

:04:14. > :04:18.become accustomed to familiar people winning. And also the sense that you

:04:19. > :04:25.know how it is going to be because it has become such a well organised

:04:26. > :04:28.thing. I do not think it is destination television. All sort of

:04:29. > :04:35.people I know, who would not normally watch if Chelsea won it,

:04:36. > :04:42.wanted to see Lester pick up the trophy and how it is. Nathan Dyer's

:04:43. > :04:49.face was something to behold. That was part of it. Before we have said

:04:50. > :04:53.title winners. It has been about winning the title, not the symbolic

:04:54. > :04:57.trophy. Yesterday it did feel as if that was the first moment anybody

:04:58. > :05:04.could really believe it. It was real at that moment. I would say so.

:05:05. > :05:08.Throughout the course of the season, the closer you get towards the end

:05:09. > :05:15.of the season, the more realistic it becomes. I never sensed a moment in

:05:16. > :05:20.the changing room at any time, even leading up to Monday night, that was

:05:21. > :05:25.the most nervous anybody has ever been. Before that there was no

:05:26. > :05:32.nervousness. Everybody took it in their stride. The guys kept going

:05:33. > :05:36.on, stuck to their job. The manager was brilliant. He kept everybody's

:05:37. > :05:44.feet on the ground. He said, keep going, keep playing, I want you to

:05:45. > :05:50.improve. Play how we can play. Get better every week and the results

:05:51. > :05:54.will come. The other thing I thought was really good, Wes Morgan really

:05:55. > :05:59.took his time before lifting it. He has spoken this week about imagining

:06:00. > :06:04.this moment. That 20 seconds before he did it was obviously composing

:06:05. > :06:09.himself and trying to in some ways believe he was about to do this.

:06:10. > :06:20.That was the point when everybody realised this was the moment we had

:06:21. > :06:24.won the league. Some people will say it was a downer that we had to rely

:06:25. > :06:28.on another result. But it was the course of the season. We deserved to

:06:29. > :06:33.be where we were. The league table never lies. We said it time and

:06:34. > :06:37.again. You were there because you deserve to be there. The result,

:06:38. > :06:41.even though it was based on winning the title on Monday night, was done

:06:42. > :06:48.throughout the course of the season. We thoroughly deserved it. Can I

:06:49. > :06:52.make a point about Claudio Ranieri? I thought it was really very moving

:06:53. > :06:55.and meaningful to see a guy who had waited so long to actually win

:06:56. > :07:02.something, as he had, and whose career, they will be at Chelsea next

:07:03. > :07:09.weekend, and at the beginning of the season people went, look, Mourinho

:07:10. > :07:13.will be playing Ranieri if he is still there at the end of the

:07:14. > :07:16.season. And Jose Mourinho, the stereotype of a guy who is

:07:17. > :07:21.completely obsessed, fixated by winning, is the one sitting on his

:07:22. > :07:24.sofa watching Claudio Ranieri, the nice guy who had never finished

:07:25. > :07:30.first, having this moment. The message it sends out is that we must

:07:31. > :07:38.value this idea of improvement and doing your best. It should not just

:07:39. > :07:44.be about winning. We have devalued. People have been written off through

:07:45. > :07:49.their career time and again. The best he has ever finished in his own

:07:50. > :07:57.career was second. That adds a little bit of Extra incentive to

:07:58. > :08:04.prove people wrong. 18 months ago he was declared, I will not use the

:08:05. > :08:08.terminology used, but he was basically described as rubbish as a

:08:09. > :08:11.manager because he got sacked from the grease job. Now he is on the

:08:12. > :08:15.verge of lifting one of the biggest trophies you can win in domestic

:08:16. > :08:22.football. We had this discussion last week. He is very used to being

:08:23. > :08:28.at the top of the table and challenging for trophies. He may not

:08:29. > :08:32.have got over the line. But that does not necessarily mean that is a

:08:33. > :08:39.failure. We look at some other managers, we do not name names,

:08:40. > :08:43.being seen as great escape politicss, we gave them a badge of

:08:44. > :08:51.honour. Get somebody who consistently finishes second, we

:08:52. > :08:56.give that as a badge of failure. I do not think I have ever considered

:08:57. > :09:01.him a failure. He had four seasons at Chelsea before the money took

:09:02. > :09:05.hold. He never had the chance to do with those resources what Mourinho

:09:06. > :09:09.and others have done. In Italy you tend to go from club to club pretty

:09:10. > :09:14.quickly. That is the way it works. There is a small pool of managers

:09:15. > :09:19.who seem to swap clubs. It was the grease thing. The fact they lost to

:09:20. > :09:23.the Faroe Islands. This nation that should not be losing to a small

:09:24. > :09:30.nation. That was abject failure. He has been out of the English game for

:09:31. > :09:35.so long. That is not very ambitious. What Amy was talking about is a

:09:36. > :09:39.valid point. He is a nice man. He is engaging, he comes out with the

:09:40. > :09:45.sound bites. I do not know if Mark can tell us more, but I found him

:09:46. > :09:49.this season, thinking back to 2000 and 2004, I found there has been a

:09:50. > :09:54.real steal and professionalism. I have not found in quirky and a

:09:55. > :09:57.little bit different. I have found him absolutely rock solid. Even

:09:58. > :10:01.yesterday I thought there would be a moment when he would crack up crying

:10:02. > :10:07.and the did not. He was solidly professional. He has been like that

:10:08. > :10:11.from day one. What has been impressive Izzie has not come in

:10:12. > :10:15.with his ego and said, I am the new manager, this team was managed by

:10:16. > :10:20.somebody else, I need to change the identity of this club and put my

:10:21. > :10:23.stamp of approval on it. He has identified that this team needs a

:10:24. > :10:28.little tweaking. It needs more coaching, maybe more direction. And

:10:29. > :10:31.maybe putting his arm around a few players which he has done really

:10:32. > :10:37.well throughout the season. It is no coincidence you see the emergence of

:10:38. > :10:40.Mahrez and Vardy stepping up to another level. Danny Drinkwater, who

:10:41. > :10:45.was on the verge of leaving last season. Danny Simpson, hours away

:10:46. > :10:49.from leaving the club at the end of the season as well. These guys have

:10:50. > :10:54.been hugely important to the side. And I do not think, under the

:10:55. > :10:58.previous manager, that would have been the case. He has identified

:10:59. > :11:02.certain aspects of the team that he could encourage and he could

:11:03. > :11:05.improve. You imagine with great managers they have the combination

:11:06. > :11:12.of when they need to put their arm around players and also give stern

:11:13. > :11:18.words. Maybe he has not had reason to. Have you seen him lose his cool?

:11:19. > :11:24.A couple of times. But he has not had to, really. It is a very unique

:11:25. > :11:28.mixture of players. We have got players, and again it has been well

:11:29. > :11:32.reported, so many of them have been told they are not good enough,

:11:33. > :11:39.released from various clubs, a number of them left Manchester

:11:40. > :11:42.United. They were told good enough at that level. All of a sudden you

:11:43. > :11:47.have a combination of players who throughout their careers have been

:11:48. > :11:55.put down. Jamie Vardy, what an unbelievable story that is. It has

:11:56. > :11:58.all clicked. It is all gone together really well. A group of players

:11:59. > :12:03.determined to prove their critics wrong. They are not openly speaking

:12:04. > :12:06.about it. They are not throwing it down people's throats, they are

:12:07. > :12:12.showing the world what they can do on the pitch. This season everything

:12:13. > :12:17.has come together. It has carried on from last season. Do you think this

:12:18. > :12:22.will be an easy group of players to bring somebody into over the summer?

:12:23. > :12:27.Obviously there is an incredible bond between you as a group. I am

:12:28. > :12:32.not saying that is Kiki, but you have left an unbelievable season. To

:12:33. > :12:38.bring people into this, to go on next season, will take some clever

:12:39. > :12:41.scouting and management. Arguably it is more difficult because you have

:12:42. > :12:46.to bring the right player in. The manager has said quite regularly

:12:47. > :12:50.that he is not going to bring in Superstars. That is one of the worst

:12:51. > :12:54.things you could do, bring in a big-name player who thinks he is

:12:55. > :12:58.above everybody else. Firstly, he will probably get knocked down and

:12:59. > :13:04.really quickly, whether he likes it or not. Secondly, it would ruin the

:13:05. > :13:07.dynamic of the team. The players that do come inwardly vetted really

:13:08. > :13:13.intensely and they have to fit into the group that is there. Never mind

:13:14. > :13:18.that, what happened at Jamie Vardy's house when the cameras stopped

:13:19. > :13:25.rolling?! I cannot say, I was not there! There are stories I cannot

:13:26. > :13:29.tell. Denny said Leicester are the perfect

:13:30. > :13:34.example of how it takes more than talent and money to win trophies.

:13:35. > :13:40.Jack says seeing Leicester win brought a smile to his face. There

:13:41. > :13:45.was no reason why it should not happen again. We should have learned

:13:46. > :13:50.our lesson from this season. To make -- we never will. We will continue

:13:51. > :13:58.to make judgments in September. We don't know what is going to happen.

:13:59. > :14:03.Why not? Has the mould been broken? Is there now a new set of frameworks

:14:04. > :14:08.for other teams to come through. It gives every single club in every

:14:09. > :14:10.single league hope that just because, supposedly, you not

:14:11. > :14:15.supposed to be playing for top places, you can. You will not get

:14:16. > :14:26.5000 to one on Middlesbrough next season. No. Does the fact it was

:14:27. > :14:27.Leicester's title winning party in some ways absolve Everton of any

:14:28. > :14:39.blame yesterday? Good question. Seasoned watchers of Everton might

:14:40. > :14:43.say it has been coming this season. It is not a surprise to see a

:14:44. > :14:48.performance like that. It probably was a difficult game for them. I was

:14:49. > :14:54.more surprised by Lester's performance, if anything, there was

:14:55. > :15:01.any excuse for Leicester to be not that energetic. The fact they went

:15:02. > :15:05.with the intensity that they did, it might have unnerved Everton, or

:15:06. > :15:11.perhaps they were not going to cope anyway. The manager was on, all

:15:12. > :15:17.week, OK, there were celebrations of the Monday night, that was only

:15:18. > :15:21.natural. Come Thursday, right, we need to finish this in the right

:15:22. > :15:24.manner, we need to continue to build. It is all about building for

:15:25. > :15:28.the rest of the season, showing people what champions are made of

:15:29. > :15:34.and preparation for next season. He said, I want to see people's

:15:35. > :15:41.reactions, the players' reactions, and it will be an indication phonic

:15:42. > :15:43.season. He stamped his mark on. It's a massive afternoon in League 1.

:15:44. > :15:46.Game is about to kick off. It's between Burton and Walsall

:15:47. > :15:51.for the second automatic promotion place, and either Blackpool

:15:52. > :16:04.or Fleetwood will be relegated. Doncaster, mathematically, are down.

:16:05. > :16:09.They will need a heck of a goal swing if they are going to stay up.

:16:10. > :16:17.Middlesbrough promoted, all over the back pages. Aitor Karanka saying he

:16:18. > :16:22.wants to stay and have a go at the Premier League giants. He has had a

:16:23. > :16:27.bizarre season. Did we ever get to the bottom of what happened?

:16:28. > :16:30.Whatever it was, it worked! He was not there for a game and we thought

:16:31. > :16:34.he was not going to be there again. That is a wonderful job, he has

:16:35. > :16:37.done. I'm really pleased for the chairman, Steve Gibson, that is one

:16:38. > :16:42.of the good guys that put his heart and soul, and a lot more besides,

:16:43. > :16:48.into that Football Club. If anybody deserves to go up, it is him. That

:16:49. > :16:55.was a critical moment, walking out, not taking control of the game, the

:16:56. > :17:02.performance of the team when he came back, that reiterated how important

:17:03. > :17:09.it was to get him back in. The next game, on the Friday night, they won

:17:10. > :17:14.1-0. Even see the celebration of the players, the manager right in the

:17:15. > :17:17.middle of it. Steve Gibson is an extremely experienced man in running

:17:18. > :17:27.that club. He has been there for a long time. You know, my son is a

:17:28. > :17:31.Middlesbrough fan. It's been a good week in your house! My son actually

:17:32. > :17:37.said it was probably the best year of his life, the fact that Leicester

:17:38. > :17:41.won the Premier League title, Middlesbrough being promoted, he is

:17:42. > :17:50.playing as well. He has just been signed up for Fulham. What are the

:17:51. > :17:54.lottery numbers? A bigger picture Middlesbrough, you can look at

:17:55. > :17:58.Leicester, who failed in the play-off and went up the following

:17:59. > :18:02.season, Middlesbrough did the same, Burnley going down, but keeping

:18:03. > :18:06.their manager and coming back up, there is an argument, with a lot of

:18:07. > :18:12.these clubs, stay calm and the following season, you might get it

:18:13. > :18:16.right. Why are you sniggering? I will bore you to tears with tales of

:18:17. > :18:20.York City, they were in the play-offs against Fleetwood. I was

:18:21. > :18:26.very cagey and saying, I don't think they should go up, it is too soon.

:18:27. > :18:33.They said, you go for it, it might never happen again. Just been

:18:34. > :18:39.relegated from the Football League. Stability? That is an interesting

:18:40. > :18:50.one. Has what has happened since Aitor Karanka's situation been

:18:51. > :18:55.stability? If they take some calmness, once the celebrations are

:18:56. > :19:00.over, prepare what is coming, is it resolved? Is there uncertainty?

:19:01. > :19:08.Total trust between Steve Gibson, the manager, and the players? You

:19:09. > :19:11.would hope so. He is very much a manner that will stick with his

:19:12. > :19:15.manager, he believes he is still the right person for the job. The simple

:19:16. > :19:19.fact he brought him back in, at a crucial period of the season, it

:19:20. > :19:23.indicates to me that he has that trust and belief in the manager. I

:19:24. > :19:26.think it was justified by the promotion. Has worked for him

:19:27. > :19:31.before, in Europe, you can think about Steve McClaren, he was given

:19:32. > :19:36.time and brought success and a trophy, almost? When Bryan Robson

:19:37. > :19:40.was the manager, the first season, we got relegated and bounced back

:19:41. > :19:44.next season. He stuck with him, through all of the bad times and all

:19:45. > :19:51.of the good times as well. Family Premier League clubs have an English

:19:52. > :19:58.owner these days? Well, Everton is half and half. He is in an unusual

:19:59. > :20:05.position, Steve Gibson, coming back into the situation. The majority of

:20:06. > :20:09.clubs are now... There is a lot of external influences and outside

:20:10. > :20:20.money. He is one of the few parables of an old school fan. And how many

:20:21. > :20:23.clubs are actually owned by somebody from the area, who identified

:20:24. > :20:28.themselves with the community? Burnley fans will go, I know we were

:20:29. > :20:32.promoted last week, we have won the title, you have two very well run

:20:33. > :20:35.clubs. Burnley's balance sheet will be one of the healthiest in the

:20:36. > :20:41.Premier League, I would have thought, given the profits they have

:20:42. > :20:50.made and the money coming in? You go back to Bryan Robson, how impressive

:20:51. > :20:53.was that? His stock is even higher, now he has brought them back. They

:20:54. > :20:58.will be well-equipped to stay up this time, I think will. I think

:20:59. > :21:02.he's done a tremendous job, great manager, all credit has to go to

:21:03. > :21:05.Burnley's hierarchy for keeping them. I think they would have been

:21:06. > :21:09.crazy to get rid of him. The hardest thing will be trying to keep hold of

:21:10. > :21:11.him. There would have been interest from other clubs after the

:21:12. > :21:20.relegation, but keeping hold of him has paid massive dividends. Team

:21:21. > :21:23.news from White Hart Lane, Spurs against Southampton? Good afternoon

:21:24. > :21:29.from a sun-kissed White Hart Lane. One change for Tottenham from the

:21:30. > :21:34.wild west London game. Remarkably, no Spurs player was sent off, but

:21:35. > :21:38.Dembele got a retrospective six-game ban. He is replaced by Ryan Mason.

:21:39. > :21:46.That is the only change. Hugo Lloris Ingold, Walker, Alderweireld,

:21:47. > :21:51.Vertonghen, Lamela, Harry Cain upfront. As for Southampton, they

:21:52. > :21:58.are unchanged from that win against Manchester City. Forster Ingold,

:21:59. > :22:06.Martina, Fonte, Van Dijk, Sadio Mane, Tadic, Shane Long upfront.

:22:07. > :22:10.They are still going for that Europa League place. It will be interesting

:22:11. > :22:15.to see how Tottenham react, what the atmosphere will be like inside White

:22:16. > :22:23.Hart Lane. Tottenham still need to finish second to stay ahead of

:22:24. > :22:26.Arsenal. That must be the motivation? I think the atmosphere

:22:27. > :22:31.will be great, Spurs fans will see this as a week of celebration as

:22:32. > :22:35.well, they have had a week to digest that, they will think, what a season

:22:36. > :22:38.we have had, second place, it is a brilliant season for Tottenham.

:22:39. > :22:48.There will be disappointment, but I think there will be it and get

:22:49. > :22:52.behind them. Spurs lost their heads, sat under must shoulder the blame,

:22:53. > :22:55.for all of his attributes, says one viewer. They are professionals, they

:22:56. > :23:07.are meant to deal with this, but it was a hard atmosphere? I kind of

:23:08. > :23:13.don't blame them, I kind of admire them. I thought the same, I loved

:23:14. > :23:21.it. The passion for both teams, to create quite an electric atmosphere,

:23:22. > :23:24.to give the amount they did, it was so riveting. You didn't want to

:23:25. > :23:35.blink because you didn't know what crushing stuff you were going to

:23:36. > :23:38.miss. Afterwards, Pochettino came in the press Conference and people were

:23:39. > :23:44.asking about the player's behaviour, what he made of it all. You could

:23:45. > :23:48.just see him thinking, first of all, it is a bit in the culture to think,

:23:49. > :23:52.come on, if you have some of that going on, that is part of what makes

:23:53. > :23:55.the game special. But I think he was partly proud of his players,

:23:56. > :23:59.actually. Even though he would not say so, because that would not be

:24:00. > :24:02.the right thing to do. To have that response, to take that kind of

:24:03. > :24:07.disappointment and not accepted in the way that they did, that is

:24:08. > :24:14.something that isn't such a bad thing, in the broader scheme of

:24:15. > :24:20.things. It was almost a game of yesteryear, the attitude and

:24:21. > :24:24.atmosphere. It is a double whammy. Spurs needed to win, they wanted to

:24:25. > :24:28.keep the pressure on us. Going for the title, it is the first time they

:24:29. > :24:32.have been so close to winning it. You can imagine, it is a derby, one

:24:33. > :24:36.of the archrivals, apart from playing against Arsenal, Chelsea is

:24:37. > :24:41.the next one. They don't like each other, we know that. It was always

:24:42. > :24:44.going to boil over. I thought Mark Clattenburg dealt with the game

:24:45. > :24:48.really well. You can go back and say maybe he should have had a red card

:24:49. > :24:52.here or there, but the argument would be that it would ruin the

:24:53. > :25:01.game. By allowing it to flow as much as he did, he gave out a lot of

:25:02. > :25:05.yellow cards, Eric Dier possibly the key to stay on the pitch, but we got

:25:06. > :25:11.a very entertaining game. If there had been people sent off, it would

:25:12. > :25:18.not have been as entertaining. In the end, fantastic result! Celtic

:25:19. > :25:22.have taken me lead in Scotland, nine clear with three games to play and

:25:23. > :25:26.the goal difference is massive. It is Celtic's title already. Patrick

:25:27. > :25:29.Roberts has scored for them. No goals as yet in League 1. We talk

:25:30. > :25:36.about how interesting the transfer dealings of Leicester will be.

:25:37. > :25:41.Finding a striker to take the weight of Harry Kane, but be prepared to

:25:42. > :25:47.play second fiddle to him will be quite difficult? They had won, a

:25:48. > :25:54.different sort of player, but I thought the way that Son performed

:25:55. > :25:58.when he first started, I thought they had somebody like that. I don't

:25:59. > :26:02.think it is just Spurs. I think you are looking at Arsenal, you're

:26:03. > :26:08.looking at City, united and Liverpool. I think it will be a huge

:26:09. > :26:15.summer, way busier than last summer. Do you? The players you're talking

:26:16. > :26:18.about, the amount of money they need to spend, there are not that many

:26:19. > :26:24.players out there to buy. You would hope for a busy summer. I think the

:26:25. > :26:35.likes of Liverpool and Man City will have a big turnout. He will have his

:26:36. > :26:39.first opportunity to stamp his personality of the team. The likes

:26:40. > :26:44.of Spurs, you look at that team, maybe you're talking about another

:26:45. > :26:47.striker, but I think that Son actually did well this season. The

:26:48. > :26:56.fact he was played out of position a lot of times, and he didn't get a

:26:57. > :27:02.lot of games, Harry Kane stayed fit. I don't think they need a lot. They

:27:03. > :27:05.only need a couple of players. They were really unlucky, it is possibly

:27:06. > :27:08.the most exciting Tottenham team I have seen since I have been in

:27:09. > :27:14.England. It's a very exciting team for the future. I think we have

:27:15. > :27:22.fallen into the trap of ignoring how the season has gone, they are going

:27:23. > :27:28.to have to spend lots of money? I'm not sure Spurs will, I think the

:27:29. > :27:33.others will. If you scout well, you don't have to? That should be

:27:34. > :27:38.happening now. There might be chained at Manchester United, we

:27:39. > :27:41.don't know, new managers at Chelsea, Manchester City, you think it will

:27:42. > :27:45.spark everything off. Southampton will go sixth, above West Ham, if

:27:46. > :27:53.they win. Until yesterday, they have a chance of getting into the

:27:54. > :27:56.Champions League. What happened there? Southampton will not be happy

:27:57. > :28:03.that we are just concentrating on Spurs. In the sense of following

:28:04. > :28:09.recent successes, people were looking for them to push on. It's

:28:10. > :28:15.quite hard to do. At one point, you thought things were quiet cooling

:28:16. > :28:17.down. The way they have regrouped, and come on really strongly in the

:28:18. > :28:22.second half of the season, it has been quite encouraging. You look at

:28:23. > :28:25.how they have evolved in the last five or six years, that is

:28:26. > :28:29.incredible. The kind of players they have had, players they have sold,

:28:30. > :28:32.the money they have returned from those players moving on and the

:28:33. > :28:35.players they have replaced them with, I think they have bought a

:28:36. > :28:39.really well. It's another team that has shown that you don't need to

:28:40. > :28:43.spend a lot of money, you can be very shrewd with the kind of players

:28:44. > :28:46.you can find. It is easier to have a lot of money and just buy the

:28:47. > :28:50.biggest name players, but it is finding the right team, finding a

:28:51. > :28:54.group of players that will play as a team, well, Southampton do it,

:28:55. > :29:02.Tottenham do it well. Leicester are the standout, in that regard,

:29:03. > :29:07.because of the money spent and what it has returned. A goal at the DW

:29:08. > :29:09.Stadium, Wigan have taken the lead against Barnsley. It doesn't really

:29:10. > :29:21.affect anything from a Wigan point of view. It drops Barnsley out of

:29:22. > :29:24.the play-off places, things stand. Scunthorpe will go above them, it is

:29:25. > :29:28.goalless at Bramall Lane. Let's go to the bottom of the Premier League.

:29:29. > :29:33.Sunderland came from behind to beat Chelsea 3-2. That takes them out of

:29:34. > :29:34.the bottom three and gives them a bit of a buffer over Newcastle and

:29:35. > :29:47.Norwich. Atmosphere is what makes players

:29:48. > :29:52.play well. The atmosphere today in food the players to give their all.

:29:53. > :29:57.The hairs were standing up on the backs of their necks. That allowed

:29:58. > :30:03.them to perform well. If you do it on Wednesday, that will be it? Nun

:30:04. > :30:07.that is it. Everton are better away from home this year. It will be

:30:08. > :30:14.tough. The nerve ends will be jangling. Our destiny is in our

:30:15. > :30:21.hands. Let's hope we can take it. Sam Allardyce after their win over

:30:22. > :30:27.Chelsea. Ryan says, what sorcery has turned Younes Kaboul into a good

:30:28. > :30:33.defender? I know they conceded two but he has made them more solid? He

:30:34. > :30:38.has brought Kone into play alongside him. Sam said it was the best window

:30:39. > :30:44.of transfers he has ever pulled off in his career. They have all been

:30:45. > :30:49.absolutely superb. Yann Kermorgant is clearly not ready for the rigours

:30:50. > :31:00.of the Premier League. -- Jan Kirchhoff. Khazri, fantastic

:31:01. > :31:09.technique yesterday. The best shin you will ever see! The most

:31:10. > :31:14.important. It was a spectacular goal. Younes Kaboul has risen to it.

:31:15. > :31:20.What a signing Kone has been. Mark says as an Arsenal fan, if Arsenal

:31:21. > :31:28.had Jermain Defoe, would they have won the league? You look at

:31:29. > :31:31.Sunderland's energy, the desperation for a goals, they just wanted to

:31:32. > :31:36.score. You did not see that with the same intensity at either Norwich or

:31:37. > :31:42.Newcastle. The contrast was strong in that regard. What is amazing is

:31:43. > :31:48.that Defoe went off to play in the MLS. You wondered if that was the

:31:49. > :32:02.end of him. Certainly at the high-end of football. To come back

:32:03. > :32:09.from, I will not say retirement, but you know what I am getting at? We

:32:10. > :32:13.will leave it there, shall we?! The intensity is the interesting thing.

:32:14. > :32:18.Sunderland do appear to have had a greater intensity than maybe the

:32:19. > :32:22.other two teams. If you look to Leicester last season, Leicester

:32:23. > :32:29.were always in games. Under Sam in recent weeks Sunderland have been in

:32:30. > :32:32.games? Sunderland have probably learnt from the past couple of years

:32:33. > :32:36.and brought in a tried and tested and very good manager in the Premier

:32:37. > :32:42.League. They have not gone with someone who is unproven and a risk.

:32:43. > :32:45.They have brought in somebody with a tremendous amount of experience and

:32:46. > :32:49.is a really good manager, and a review good man manager. He has

:32:50. > :32:53.always identified good players. Wherever he has been, he has always

:32:54. > :32:58.had fantastic players. He has always been able to pull off a transfer

:32:59. > :33:02.coup in the January window are in the off-season. It is no coincidence

:33:03. > :33:06.that they play with that intensity. He is a very passionate man and a

:33:07. > :33:14.good man manager. The guys are playing for him and for the clubs.

:33:15. > :33:18.-- club. Particularly in the north-east, those fans want to see

:33:19. > :33:23.fighting spirit. They want to see players must die on the pitch. Do

:33:24. > :33:27.you think there is a reverse psychology in him saying that

:33:28. > :33:31.Everton are better away from home, just to dampen expectations? They

:33:32. > :33:35.may not have gone to the Stadium Of Light yesterday expecting Sunderland

:33:36. > :33:40.to win, but given what has happened, given what happened to Newcastle, a

:33:41. > :33:43.majority of fans will think on Wednesday night, come on, beat

:33:44. > :33:50.Everton and keep us in the Premier League? There is huge expectation.

:33:51. > :33:53.There always is and always has been. The way they are playing, the

:33:54. > :33:58.momentum they have got, they are one game away from securing safety

:33:59. > :34:02.against their biggest rival, if they win, they will send Newcastle down,

:34:03. > :34:06.which are Sunderland fans will be every dream come true. It is an

:34:07. > :34:12.incredible situation to be in. The way that Everton played against us

:34:13. > :34:16.yesterday, I cannot see any the result other than Sunderland

:34:17. > :34:20.winning. But Everton have got players, and that is frustrating for

:34:21. > :34:28.their fans, they have got a group of talented players and for some reason

:34:29. > :34:33.it is not sticking together. Do they look nervous? Do they look Aref? Do

:34:34. > :34:40.they look as if they want to get the season over with? -- arrest. They

:34:41. > :34:45.looked probably all of the above. It was difficult to pinpoint what was

:34:46. > :34:50.not going right. There were so many aspects of their game and body

:34:51. > :34:52.language of players, the style of football they were playing, they

:34:53. > :34:57.were lacking in direction and commitment. Roberto Martinez said

:34:58. > :35:03.after the game that they were not at the game. That was blatantly

:35:04. > :35:08.obvious. I was really disappointed in one way that Everton did not make

:35:09. > :35:14.more of a game of it. The scoreline was flattering. The scoreline could

:35:15. > :35:20.have been 6-1, 7-1. If we had taken our chances. They were very

:35:21. > :35:27.disappointing. Everton fans were leaving quite early. I felt a little

:35:28. > :35:32.bit for Roberto Martinez in one way. Yesterday was not about them. They

:35:33. > :35:36.had Sunderland away, that is not about them. And then they have got

:35:37. > :35:40.Norwich in the final game. If it is all over, it is going to be very

:35:41. > :35:46.depressing. It is not an easy end, if that is what is going to be for

:35:47. > :35:53.him. On the easy end, that is fine, but Claudio Ranieri, even though

:35:54. > :36:01.they are champions, even though they were out partying, has said, no we

:36:02. > :36:05.lay down our marker for next season? But he's not going anywhere. The

:36:06. > :36:11.manager has to make sure he stamped his authority and gets hold of the

:36:12. > :36:14.players. The Everton players yesterday were almost thinking about

:36:15. > :36:19.next season and maybe who is going to be there. The way they played was

:36:20. > :36:22.really disjointed. I think there are a lot of players probably thinking,

:36:23. > :36:29.what are we going to do next season, rather than pulling up their sleeves

:36:30. > :36:35.and finish this season on a high. Blackpool outscored at Peterborough

:36:36. > :36:40.in league one. -- have scored. It does not take them out of the bottom

:36:41. > :36:45.four because Fleetwood are still goalless at home to Crewe. If Crewe

:36:46. > :36:53.word to score, Fleetwood would drop into the bottom four and Blackpool

:36:54. > :36:59.would be out. I get frustrated when I hear about Sam Allardyce. They

:37:00. > :37:03.turn their nose up and think it is long ball, it is a industrial

:37:04. > :37:10.football. You do not sign players like Khazri, who is obviously flair,

:37:11. > :37:13.you do not sign players like chalk I have and JJ cocktail that is all you

:37:14. > :37:21.are about. There is a lot more to him. That is fine. Let's move on to

:37:22. > :37:27.the other incident that happened at the Stadium Of Light. John Terry

:37:28. > :37:30.being sent off. Two yellow cards on his 703rd appearance for Chelsea.

:37:31. > :37:37.Here is Guus Hiddink. What did you make of the red card? I think it was

:37:38. > :37:45.a little bit over the top, the decision. They both went in with a

:37:46. > :37:49.lot of intensity. I think it should have been a warning. It was over the

:37:50. > :37:57.top. It would be a sad way to end for him? Yes. Because of the

:37:58. > :38:02.regulation, there is a two game sanction. That is sad. How is he in

:38:03. > :38:08.there? You can imagine. Nothing to add. Guus Hiddink. Celtic

:38:09. > :38:14.have doubled their lead against Aberdeen. Fleetwood have scored at

:38:15. > :38:19.home to Crewe. 1-0. That keeps Blackpool in the bottom four. Guus

:38:20. > :38:25.Hiddink said it is sad. And for a one club man, 703 matches, if he is

:38:26. > :38:29.not going to get a new contract at Chelsea, that is a sad way to enter

:38:30. > :38:33.because Chelsea fans would want to say goodbye to him in the final

:38:34. > :38:38.game. Every group of fans wants to say goodbye to a club legend at

:38:39. > :38:44.home. Yes. And the idea that he is going to come out on a lap of honour

:38:45. > :38:47.not having played, will not be how he wants it. If you think of his

:38:48. > :38:51.career, there have been plenty of incidents and times where he has

:38:52. > :38:57.been highly under scrutiny for something that has been going on in

:38:58. > :39:00.his life or in how he has been playing. Those have always been the

:39:01. > :39:06.times when everybody is looking at him, where he has produced

:39:07. > :39:12.something. I have got so many memories of it being about John

:39:13. > :39:19.Terry. Everybody is on Terry watch. That is when he scores a winner,

:39:20. > :39:28.chest thumping, you see the classic idea of him as this iconic captain.

:39:29. > :39:36.Leader, captain, legend. As they say at Stamford Bridge. They say he has

:39:37. > :39:40.booked Stamford Bridge for a party. Jamie Vardy and the party has been

:39:41. > :39:46.the big story of the season but John Terry party will not be as he hoped.

:39:47. > :39:52.He will be absolutely devastated. I hope it is not his last opportunity.

:39:53. > :39:56.It is well known what he has done for Chelsea, he has come through the

:39:57. > :40:02.ranks, been at the club since he was a young kid. If you are Antonio

:40:03. > :40:07.Conte would you keep him on? I would, yes. I was fortunate to play

:40:08. > :40:12.for Chelsea and in the 18 months I was there, he was incredible. A

:40:13. > :40:16.great professional. I cannot say a bad word against him. He is always

:40:17. > :40:22.somebody you could talk to about anything. It is well documented what

:40:23. > :40:25.he has done throughout his career, people go through ups and downs, I

:40:26. > :40:29.think he has definitely learned from a lot of things that have happened

:40:30. > :40:33.in the past. I hope this is not one of those instances where he is not

:40:34. > :40:40.able to finish how we should be able to finish. The fact it was only a

:40:41. > :40:44.few weeks ago that it sprung up again with England's centre-back

:40:45. > :40:48.deficiencies, they were wondering if they could talk him out of it for

:40:49. > :40:54.the Euros, there could be a couple of years in the Premier League.

:40:55. > :40:57.Chelsea are obviously going down a different direction. It is a really

:40:58. > :41:04.sad end. The one thing I would disagree with is that it was two

:41:05. > :41:09.yellow cards. Fleetwood have doubled their lead against Crewe. Is he the

:41:10. > :41:13.kind of person who, if they offered him a new deal, he would be able to

:41:14. > :41:18.deal with not playing week in, week out? Would that be a problem? It is

:41:19. > :41:22.always difficult when you have played all the time. When I first

:41:23. > :41:26.went to Chelsea, and I stopped playing regularly, it is very

:41:27. > :41:30.difficult to adjust. Even now I still find it difficult but you

:41:31. > :41:34.learn to do with it, the older you get. You accept you are not going to

:41:35. > :41:39.play as often. I think he will feel himself, and he has said it quite

:41:40. > :41:44.often, he has got another year or two. It is about whether or not he

:41:45. > :41:51.feels, firstly, the manager, whether he feels he wants him. He may not

:41:52. > :41:55.play every week, but the manager could still need him and help

:41:56. > :42:02.players coming through. If he is happy to do that, or if he wants to

:42:03. > :42:05.go off and do his own thing. If John Terry is at the end of his contract

:42:06. > :42:11.at the end of the season, does he packed up his bags and leave?

:42:12. > :42:17.Preseason is some time away. If there is no offer of a contract,

:42:18. > :42:21.would he cleared his locker, so to speak? I think it would be a long,

:42:22. > :42:25.long clear out. He has such an affiliation with the club and the

:42:26. > :42:28.people that the club. That is important. There are people who have

:42:29. > :42:32.been there as long if not longer than him. He has a very strong bond

:42:33. > :42:37.with a lot of people. That will take some time for him. There is a

:42:38. > :42:43.certain sense, I suppose, of maybe being afraid of leaving something he

:42:44. > :42:48.has done closely associated with. The one thing I have got a fear of

:42:49. > :42:51.is that the fans will have that feeling of, if you were to sign for

:42:52. > :42:57.another club, like they did with Frank Lampard... The club could look

:42:58. > :43:01.at it and say, do we want that to happen again? Do we want that

:43:02. > :43:05.tasting people's mouths, seen Frank Lampard play for another club other

:43:06. > :43:09.than Chelsea? After such a distinguished career at Chelsea,

:43:10. > :43:14.having accomplished so much, do you want to see someone like John Terry

:43:15. > :43:24.play in another shirt? Frank Lampard went to play for Manchester City. We

:43:25. > :43:24.have only left ourselves 40 seconds. Are you doing this game? Yes. It is

:43:25. > :43:35.a bigger deal for Manchester City because Arsenal

:43:36. > :43:35.a bigger deal for Manchester City City have to win

:43:36. > :43:36.a bigger deal for Manchester City have to win their last two. It will

:43:37. > :43:43.not easy. Arsenal still think they can catch Spurs to they have the

:43:44. > :43:48.advantage of knowing one where the other. If Spurs when... We have

:43:49. > :43:49.stuffed our time. There will be lots of discussion and preview about it

:43:50. > :43:56.throughout the afternoon of discussion and preview about it

:43:57. > :43:56.live. Highlights tonight on Match of the Day 2.

:43:57. > :44:01.Thanks to Mark, Amy and Guy. Goodbye.
