0:01:00 > 0:01:04We're at one of the most famous motor sports venues on the planet

0:01:04 > 0:01:11or rent roll of the championship. This is MotoGP at the Brickyard,

0:01:11 > 0:01:19and it promises to be another crucial chapter in the title chase.

0:01:19 > 0:01:24Jorge Lorenzo rolled the dice last time out. Everyone went for her

0:01:24 > 0:01:27heart went by and he went soft. But look like the gamble had paid off

0:01:28 > 0:01:36after the first lap but it backfired shortly after, as Pedrosa

0:01:36 > 0:01:41started to get into his group. about save of the day! Pedrosa had

0:01:41 > 0:01:46been quickest all weekend, but it counted for nothing in the end.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49That left Casey Stoner to his 6th win of the year, and it got better

0:01:49 > 0:01:59and better for him as a first Dovizioso and then Simoncelli

0:01:59 > 0:02:00

0:02:00 > 0:02:04pushed past Lorenzo. The is going to let his hair down and go for it!

0:02:04 > 0:02:09And Pascoe's Simoncelli - she is on the podium as commission mark a

0:02:09 > 0:02:15sideshow Bob taking centre-stage at last, with his first podium in

0:02:15 > 0:02:20MotoGP. In the championship in it all adds up to a 32 point lead for

0:02:20 > 0:02:27Casey Stoner over Jorge Lorenzo. Dovizioso strength and his Holden

0:02:28 > 0:02:33de place. Ben Spies is the leading American in sixth place. Just ahead

0:02:33 > 0:02:37of Nicky Hayden. It is a big weekend for all three Americans.

0:02:37 > 0:02:42Colin Evans, 9th in the championship. They do not get much

0:02:42 > 0:02:51prouder to be racing at this legendary venue than Colin. What a

0:02:51 > 0:02:56feeling it must be. For us Americans, Indianapolis, a lot of

0:02:56 > 0:03:02history and childhood memories of seeing Indy 500, and it is just a

0:03:02 > 0:03:05special place. The mystique of it is more than ever. You'd do not get

0:03:05 > 0:03:13much prouder Americans than yourself and you have had a special

0:03:13 > 0:03:19helmet made for this weekend. have something special, made by a

0:03:19 > 0:03:24couple of Chartered friends. They have put the Navy Seal emblem up

0:03:24 > 0:03:30here. When we heard that a bunch of them had lost their lives, it was

0:03:30 > 0:03:34just one of those things that we had to do, to be proud of them. We

0:03:34 > 0:03:42put a throttle in the right hand. That is a small modification. That

0:03:42 > 0:03:49is all that I can do. Hats off to all those guys. Good luck today.

0:03:49 > 0:03:59Thanks. Even more so there home race for the Kentucky Kid, Nicky

0:03:59 > 0:04:12

0:04:12 > 0:04:17Home MotoGP is awesome. In the first couple of years we did not

0:04:17 > 0:04:22have an American round so I know that it is awesome. Especially at

0:04:22 > 0:04:27Laguna Seca. Because my brothers are raising, and that is pretty

0:04:27 > 0:04:32cool to get to go racing with my brothers. Indianapolis is much

0:04:32 > 0:04:37closer to Kentucky. It is my home MotoGP. We have got some big ones

0:04:37 > 0:04:43in Italy, raiding for an Italian team. There is a lot of racing

0:04:43 > 0:04:51still to do. I know that everyone is excited for next year. So am I,

0:04:51 > 0:04:55but I would love to finish strongly and have my best year ever on 900.

0:04:55 > 0:05:01It is also on. I would not to make it. I would take a bullet or any

0:05:01 > 0:05:05one of them, my family. They understand the pressure and all

0:05:05 > 0:05:11that comes along with it, and it is nice when you can share with them,

0:05:11 > 0:05:17the good days. It also helps with training, when you go out riding

0:05:17 > 0:05:22from your House. You do not have to get to the track ready, yourself,

0:05:22 > 0:05:27pole may always does that. It is nice to have someone there to push

0:05:27 > 0:05:32you, to bounce ideas off of, and to talk about training. So my family

0:05:32 > 0:05:42is a big part of my life and I am fortunate to have such a good grip

0:05:42 > 0:05:47

0:05:47 > 0:05:55behind me. -- group. I have wanted a softer Jacey, since the boss time

0:05:55 > 0:06:01I rode a bike. -- a softer chances. Now that Valentino has got a little

0:06:01 > 0:06:05bit more horsepower than me, when he asks for it, things happen, and

0:06:05 > 0:06:15hope for the, the things that he is asking for will trickle down to me,

0:06:15 > 0:06:26

0:06:26 > 0:06:29Running is a big part of it. The bike starts in the pan. Any rider

0:06:29 > 0:06:34needs to have the feel and to be able to get the bike to turn. I

0:06:34 > 0:06:40would say that there still the number one problem. That is a

0:06:40 > 0:06:44little bit of an issue. We do not have one big thing holding us back

0:06:44 > 0:06:49that we can put all the focus on. It is a little bit everywhere. It

0:06:49 > 0:06:54used to be that we had the best engine. Now the top speed is not so

0:06:54 > 0:06:58good and everyone has caught up. We need to improve everywhere. We need

0:06:58 > 0:07:03to get better stability and more steel on the corner exit to the

0:07:03 > 0:07:08rear of the bike. We know that when the package is right, it is very

0:07:08 > 0:07:12dangerous, the bike is a weapon, it is a little bit too sharp when it

0:07:12 > 0:07:22is working good, but when the Silverstone conditions were good I

0:07:22 > 0:07:23

0:07:23 > 0:07:30was the fastest guy on the track. There is Nicky Hayden. Just making

0:07:30 > 0:07:36his final preparations. 25 minutes to go until race time. A big

0:07:36 > 0:07:42weekend for Nicky Hayden. He is a family guy. We have a new helmet

0:07:42 > 0:07:51for the race. His sister got married last weekend. He has had a

0:07:51 > 0:07:58special helmet done. Nice touch. It is a real family affair. Not only

0:07:58 > 0:08:01has he made that gesture, his younger sister Kathy is the

0:08:01 > 0:08:06umbrella girl for me. It has been a family affair and it has been a

0:08:06 > 0:08:11busy couple of weeks for your family. He is, my sister got

0:08:11 > 0:08:19married last week, and it is the warm MotoGP for Nicky this weekend.

0:08:19 > 0:08:24I am trying to stay busy. But my brother asked me, he is an amicable

0:08:24 > 0:08:28die. He just needed a little bit of extra work and that is why I said I

0:08:28 > 0:08:34would hold this for him. I and you have done a better racing yourself.

0:08:34 > 0:08:39When I was younger, but being the youngest of five I had a lot to end

0:08:39 > 0:08:49the ban, and it did not work out. A what is it like having him as a

0:08:49 > 0:08:54brother? He is just humble. He is a class act, for sure. Enjoy it. It

0:08:54 > 0:09:02is a big weekend for Nicky Hayden. The Kentucky Kid, they Col him. He

0:09:02 > 0:09:05has had his work cut out. It is a huge circuit in Indianapolis. It is

0:09:05 > 0:09:09a long walk for the riders to get from the offices to the back of the

0:09:09 > 0:09:17pits. It is a nice opportunity for the fans to get their pictures

0:09:17 > 0:09:23taken, and to get a few autographss. Let me tell you, this circuit was

0:09:23 > 0:09:31packed out, it was packed out in town last night. What they might

0:09:31 > 0:09:35lack in numbers here right now they -- make up for in enthusiasm. Once

0:09:35 > 0:09:42again we have been less to brew more problems for Ducati. The

0:09:42 > 0:09:47miracle cure from last week has not work. There is nothing awesome

0:09:47 > 0:09:52about the product of that Ducati. Nicky Hayden is the best of them

0:09:52 > 0:09:57and he is on the third row. have been scratching your head as

0:09:57 > 0:10:02well, steep. Yes, the same as Jeremy Burgess and everyone else.

0:10:02 > 0:10:07We're from the key and, he wants a softer chassis, but they cannot

0:10:07 > 0:10:12have that with the engine they have out the back. I don't think we're

0:10:12 > 0:10:17going to see a softer chassis before the end of the season.

0:10:17 > 0:10:20about that helmet celebrating his sister's marriage? I try to stay

0:10:20 > 0:10:30away from marriage as much as possible! I am worried that

0:10:30 > 0:10:32

0:10:32 > 0:10:40somebody is going to chuck some rice or a hen! -- over him. Marco

0:10:40 > 0:10:45Simoncelli has had a poor position and a victory in 2008, at 2009. He

0:10:45 > 0:10:50comes to MotoGP having broken a podium duck. How much of a relief

0:10:50 > 0:10:55was it after the season you have had to finally get that podium?

0:10:56 > 0:11:03am very happy because of this result, because, for me, from the

0:11:03 > 0:11:09beginning of the year, me and the team deserve this result, and

0:11:09 > 0:11:18finally, we have got it, so I am really happy and I hope to continue

0:11:18 > 0:11:22this season in this way. Thank you, Marco, and good luck. It was a

0:11:22 > 0:11:26relieved to see him up on the podium. He has been threatening all

0:11:26 > 0:11:32season. Great scenes in the Czech Republic. He has been staring down

0:11:32 > 0:11:37the barrel. It is good for him to get it. It is a monkey off his back.

0:11:37 > 0:11:42It puts some bread between him and the first part of the year when

0:11:42 > 0:11:47everyone hated him so much. certainly did not hate him, he is

0:11:47 > 0:11:53spectacular to watch. Like many of the riders, he has found problems

0:11:53 > 0:11:57with the track surface. It has been difficult to find a way. We know

0:11:57 > 0:12:01that he has got a factory bike, as such, but he has not got a factory

0:12:01 > 0:12:07team. The guys that he has got to beat Alan better bikes with better

0:12:07 > 0:12:12engineers. It is going to come for him, for sure, but he has got over

0:12:12 > 0:12:18that bad-boy image and let us hope that he puts it together. This new

0:12:18 > 0:12:22track surface has been really up for this weekend. It has produced

0:12:22 > 0:12:27problems over the course of the weekend. Some question marks going

0:12:27 > 0:12:31into the race. It was alright flogging around doing race

0:12:31 > 0:12:38simulations, but as soon as we put a good tyre on the beer, it made

0:12:38 > 0:12:42the front pushed too much. And it a different path alive after two laps.

0:12:42 > 0:12:47But you do is not so bad but that is destroying the front. Casey

0:12:48 > 0:12:51Stoner is ludicrously fast over a lap, but he has not done a race won,

0:12:51 > 0:12:56Ben Spies has done, and he says that he thinks the base will be

0:12:57 > 0:13:01closer. Interesting conundrums border riders to solve over the

0:13:01 > 0:13:05course of this race. One thing is for certain - the new tracks of

0:13:06 > 0:13:10this has made its savour out there. We had batted for crashes in

0:13:10 > 0:13:15practice, and less than half of what we had last year - 70 crashes

0:13:15 > 0:13:19in all, last year, more than any other circuit in dry weather on the

0:13:19 > 0:13:24calendar. It is not good news for the factories to have to rebuild

0:13:24 > 0:13:34the bikes, but it is good news for the guys trying to improve rider

0:13:34 > 0:13:43

0:13:43 > 0:13:49If I fire myself at the scenery, what triggers it? The sensors pick

0:13:49 > 0:13:54up the riders movement and are linked to a microprocessor, which

0:13:55 > 0:14:01has the Housing Unit, went to the sensors around the suit, and the

0:14:01 > 0:14:07gas in plea does. Literally, it is an air bottle? The Yes, a gas

0:14:07 > 0:14:17cylinder, and it is designed to detect when you have gone beyond a

0:14:17 > 0:14:28

0:14:28 > 0:14:38As soon as it has gone beyond that, this system will then decide - -

0:14:38 > 0:14:42decide to fire the airbags. At the moment we're averaging about 100

0:14:42 > 0:14:50milliseconds off full protection before the rider hits the track.

0:14:50 > 0:14:59What are the injuries they are most likely to gets? Shoulder injuries

0:14:59 > 0:15:09generally account for about 45 % of all injuries in a MotoGP. We really

0:15:09 > 0:15:27

0:15:28 > 0:15:35Why use a guinea pig when you have a crash-test dummy? We can throw

0:15:35 > 0:15:45him out of a moving car, so we are going to fire this manually. You

0:15:45 > 0:15:46

0:15:46 > 0:15:51have my complete support! Do I look tough? I have to say, that is

0:15:51 > 0:16:00incredible, because it tightens up your whole shoulder. Can you move?

0:16:00 > 0:16:05Yeah so, I can still move. I can feel it's deflating. It supports

0:16:05 > 0:16:13this whole area around your shoulders. You do have a second

0:16:13 > 0:16:20shot of this. Apparently if you get back on, if your bike is OK, you

0:16:20 > 0:16:30can get back on and go away. Now, if it is the third time, you

0:16:30 > 0:16:32

0:16:32 > 0:16:41deserve what you get! Hopefully nobody will crash three-

0:16:41 > 0:16:48times! This is what the riders come to get their leathers fixed up.

0:16:48 > 0:16:54Over the years, here at Indianapolis, they have been kept

0:16:54 > 0:16:58pretty busy. Indianapolis is one of the newest additions to the

0:16:58 > 0:17:08calendar. We have only been coming here for three years and have had

0:17:08 > 0:17:09

0:17:09 > 0:17:15three different winners. In 2008 there was a hurricane and nearly

0:17:15 > 0:17:21upstaged the main attraction. red flag, that is it. That is going

0:17:21 > 0:17:31to declare a results for Valentino Rossi. It is the worst conditions

0:17:31 > 0:17:38of all my career. Valentino Rossi was fighting for the win again in

0:17:38 > 0:17:432009, but it was Jorge Lorenzo who stole the show. Unbelievable!

0:17:43 > 0:17:53Valentino Rossi has just given away 25 points. Jorge Lorenzo crosses

0:17:53 > 0:17:54

0:17:54 > 0:17:58the line as winner. 12 months ago Ben Spies but the home fans fired

0:17:58 > 0:18:08up by getting pole position, but it was Dani Pedrosa who took the

0:18:08 > 0:18:10

0:18:10 > 0:18:15chequered flag. Dani Pedrosa wins in the Brickyard. The teams and

0:18:15 > 0:18:20riders love coming here, the iconic fact that it is the Wimbledon of

0:18:20 > 0:18:27motor racing. At turn one they're off the main straight into this

0:18:27 > 0:18:32corner. It is scary. 200 miles an hour. You have got to get all the

0:18:32 > 0:18:37way down to second gear, on the front brake. What has let this

0:18:37 > 0:18:45place down has been the patchwork quilt of surfaces. It has been

0:18:45 > 0:18:55bumpy and blow to people fell off. Even Valentino Rossi crashed out

0:18:55 > 0:18:58

0:18:58 > 0:19:02three times in practice. There was never really any complaints about

0:19:02 > 0:19:09the first four corners, but it turned five other riders said it

0:19:09 > 0:19:15was the motocross track. They have resurfaced 1.5 miles of the circuit.

0:19:15 > 0:19:20It is like a billiard table compared to how it was. This turned

0:19:20 > 0:19:27five is why Bridgestone have had to bring their hardest higher here.

0:19:27 > 0:19:32They are really sliding through here. Here at turn nine and it is

0:19:32 > 0:19:40still flat. Even Valentino Rossi looks happy about it. It must have

0:19:40 > 0:19:43cost an absolute fortune to do this. Let's have the guys enjoy it.

0:19:43 > 0:19:49It seems as if Valentino Rossi could have been better off to stay

0:19:49 > 0:19:59with the little scooter. It was probably handling better than his

0:19:59 > 0:20:02

0:20:02 > 0:20:07Ducati. He is the third Ducati. Valentino Rossi got qualifying off

0:20:07 > 0:20:17to a bang with an early crash. Casey Stoner on at the Honda was in

0:20:17 > 0:20:24this zone. Ben Spies was the only other guy remotely in touch with

0:20:24 > 0:20:29Casey Stoner. Were gay Lorenzo has been behind us his team-mates in

0:20:29 > 0:20:36every session and he had a really difficult qualifying and concede he

0:20:36 > 0:20:40is only fighting for the podium, not the wind. Dani Pedrosa the

0:20:40 > 0:20:44start on the second row, more than a second behind Casey Stoner. Cal

0:20:44 > 0:20:50Crutchlow got up to the third row at one point, but he ran off

0:20:50 > 0:21:00moments before the end of his quick lap and she will start from 11th

0:21:00 > 0:21:33

0:21:33 > 0:21:42There was no holding back Casey Stoner yesterday afternoon in

0:21:42 > 0:21:52qualifying. His 7th pole position in the season. I think that is the

0:21:52 > 0:21:52

0:21:52 > 0:23:10Apology for the loss of subtitles for 77 seconds

0:23:10 > 0:23:18national anthem. We should just Who are we to deny them this

0:23:18 > 0:23:23fantastic tradition? A quick word with Casey Stoner. Track condition

0:23:23 > 0:23:30seemed to have improved, but a question over them for the race

0:23:30 > 0:23:35today. The track has not really improved since yesterday morning.

0:23:35 > 0:23:40As soon as you go off-line it will be much worse than what it was on

0:23:40 > 0:23:47Friday. It is going to be tough. Overtaking will be the hardest

0:23:47 > 0:23:57thing. Hopefully if we get off to a good start, we can all be safe.

0:23:57 > 0:23:58

0:23:58 > 0:24:03Good luck today. Let's have a look at Ben Spies. This is his home race.

0:24:03 > 0:24:07He started from pole position last year and finished second. He has

0:24:07 > 0:24:17not been back on the podium since he took his maiden victory back in

0:24:17 > 0:24:23

0:24:23 > 0:24:29June. His only? Is a trapped nerve in his shoulder. Jorge Lorenzo he

0:24:29 > 0:24:35rounds out the front row. The first time we had I took Yamaha

0:24:35 > 0:24:41motorcycles on the front row this season. Let's have a look at Cal

0:24:41 > 0:24:51Crutchlow. It has been a tough weekend for him. There is Colin

0:24:51 > 0:24:52

0:24:52 > 0:24:57Edwards. He is the top riders here not with the factory. I heard last

0:24:57 > 0:25:06night that he is not going to be with the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team

0:25:06 > 0:25:13next year. I could performance from Cal Crutchlow on a performance - -

0:25:13 > 0:25:19on a track that he does not know. James, we would all like to see you

0:25:19 > 0:25:29back idea. A bit of resentment when you come back, still wishing to be

0:25:29 > 0:25:30

0:25:30 > 0:25:37out here? Obviously, I still miss it. I will be back. You never know,

0:25:37 > 0:25:47in the future at will just see what opportunities come up. How is your

0:25:47 > 0:25:49

0:25:49 > 0:25:54hand? I saw Charlie Cox and he had a similar injury one week after me,

0:25:54 > 0:26:01and he is struggling to still hold the beer glass. That's a big thing

0:26:01 > 0:26:10for him! I know! It really opened my eyes to how serious this injury

0:26:10 > 0:26:16could be. I have another couple of questions for you. What do you make

0:26:17 > 0:26:26of the transition by Cal Crutchlow? You have had a positive start, but

0:26:27 > 0:26:28

0:26:28 > 0:26:32it is not is easy as people think, is it? No, it certainly is not.

0:26:33 > 0:26:36With the slowest bike, it is not easy at all. He has had an

0:26:36 > 0:26:41operation as well since Silverstone. When you lose a bit of confidence

0:26:41 > 0:26:46because of the crash, it is a very difficult job. He has qualified

0:26:46 > 0:26:52pretty well. If you get a good start, you never know. What about

0:26:52 > 0:26:56the Three guys on the front row, he is Germany on? If Casey Stoner gets

0:26:56 > 0:27:04a good start, I can see a ten- second gap between first and third

0:27:04 > 0:27:14today. I think there is only really Ben Spies to match him this weekend.

0:27:14 > 0:27:18

0:27:18 > 0:27:23Thanks very much for talking to us, James is predicting that this race

0:27:23 > 0:27:27could get stretched out. If it doesn't, well, question-marks about

0:27:27 > 0:27:37how well the track will work in the second part of the race. We could

0:27:37 > 0:27:44

0:27:44 > 0:27:54James Toseland has done a lot were physio than you ever did, Charlie

0:27:54 > 0:27:59

0:27:59 > 0:28:06Cox! I can understand why your hand is not healing as quickly. This is

0:28:06 > 0:28:16going to be a very interesting race. The big question is how out the

0:28:16 > 0:28:17

0:28:17 > 0:28:22tyres will manage across the race is a balance between tyre pressure

0:28:22 > 0:28:28and grip. Most of these teens found that if they get a higher tyre

0:28:28 > 0:28:34pressure the to get less graining, but the do get more grip. What you

0:28:34 > 0:28:37don't want is a tyre falling apart before the end of the race. Casey

0:28:37 > 0:28:43Stoner has had tyre issues this season. It is very much about

0:28:43 > 0:28:50trying to be as smooth as you possibly can. Mike Hailwood always

0:28:50 > 0:29:00said you should win at the slowest possible speed. With the track

0:29:00 > 0:29:03

0:29:03 > 0:29:09being resurfaced, nobody quite knows. You'll be able to see in a

0:29:09 > 0:29:15minute which part of the track has been resurfaced, 1.5 miles of it.

0:29:15 > 0:29:23If you run off-line then it is very difficult. This is coming up to

0:29:23 > 0:29:33dissection word has been resurfaced. It is all brand new. The sad thing

0:29:33 > 0:29:34

0:29:34 > 0:29:39is it is a shame they did not put at higher risk on beforehand.

0:29:39 > 0:29:45Stoner was very unhappy about the group level. But Casey Stoner was

0:29:45 > 0:29:54so astonishingly fast. He is like a kid that doesn't like any of his

0:29:54 > 0:30:04Christmas presents! He is faster on the circuit than anybody has ever

0:30:04 > 0:30:13

0:30:13 > 0:30:19been! We should see some action many of those as replicas, unless

0:30:19 > 0:30:22you just the family members! Casey Stoner can bag a win this

0:30:22 > 0:30:28weekend, he is going to be breaking the rest of the field because he

0:30:28 > 0:30:33has already got that Dougherty two- point lead. He sounds nervous to me.

0:30:33 > 0:30:37Who is not nervous when you are starting a 32 lap race in the sort

0:30:37 > 0:30:43of temperatures? He has talked his way into it been harder than I

0:30:43 > 0:30:49think it might be. He needs a clean start, to get away in front.

0:30:49 > 0:30:55Passing is going to be difficult. It is going to be a dying line.

0:30:55 > 0:31:02Lots of rubber being washed out. No real grip as soon as you are off of

0:31:02 > 0:31:08the racing line. This is a huge place. It is of huge event.

0:31:08 > 0:31:15Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I can tell you one thing about the Motor

0:31:15 > 0:31:20City. There is no Greenpeace offices here! They away. Pretty

0:31:20 > 0:31:28good start from Lorenzo, on the right. Casey Stoner is absolutely

0:31:28 > 0:31:34flying. Round the outside, Dani Pedrosa, always a good starter, and

0:31:34 > 0:31:41everyone is around two and three, clearly, Casey Stoner is holding

0:31:41 > 0:31:47the line. Ben Spies caught completely bogged down in the

0:31:47 > 0:31:53middle of that line. He is clearly of the bike! Casey Stoner has gone

0:31:53 > 0:31:58back into third place. Very costly for Ben Spies. He has hung out to

0:31:58 > 0:32:03die now. His team-mate the second. We know that Dani Pedrosa stars

0:32:03 > 0:32:11like a firecracker, from Jorge Lorenzo, the reigning champion.

0:32:11 > 0:32:15Nicky Hayden has had a quiet. got blocked in there, much of that

0:32:15 > 0:32:19was down to Nicky Hayden, who got jammed inside. It is the home race

0:32:19 > 0:32:26and your family are all here, but now Casey Stoner has got to do what

0:32:26 > 0:32:32he was talking about and find a way of passing people on this awkward

0:32:32 > 0:32:37track. He we're on the interval. Look at those marbles on the track

0:32:37 > 0:32:42that Steve was talking about. Feeding through. We're going to

0:32:42 > 0:32:47join the big oval. We're on the inside of the track now. A cracking

0:32:47 > 0:32:55pace from Dani Pedrosa. He qualified more than one second

0:32:55 > 0:33:02slower than his team-mate, Casey Stoner, who was on pole. Up on to

0:33:02 > 0:33:08the banking now, for turn 16. At 200 miles an hour, before setting

0:33:08 > 0:33:14up, and Dani Pedrosa gets it into that awkward turn. Across the slope

0:33:14 > 0:33:24of the pastime. One down into the Brickyard. Casey Stoner looking for

0:33:24 > 0:33:24

0:33:24 > 0:33:31a way past the reps all. -- the Repsol Honda. Behind them, the

0:33:31 > 0:33:36thought of the Repsol Hondas, Dovizioso. When was the last time?

0:33:36 > 0:33:41We have not even mentioned Valentino Rossi. He is than intent

0:33:41 > 0:33:46place at the moment. He did not make a lot of ground up. The that

0:33:46 > 0:33:51is the big move. Simoncelli looked perilously close to those marbles.

0:33:51 > 0:34:01We had just said what a nice chappie was becoming, he is not at

0:34:01 > 0:34:02

0:34:02 > 0:34:12all aggressive! What is it they say? Rub it down, bubble up? It is

0:34:12 > 0:34:13

0:34:13 > 0:34:19always or work, and often painful. -- awkward. He does not mean to do

0:34:19 > 0:34:24that again. Any slim hopes of the championship he had have faded away.

0:34:24 > 0:34:30The man leading the championship is Casey Stoner, with a 32 point

0:34:30 > 0:34:34advantage. The amount of rubber that is washed up there, because of

0:34:34 > 0:34:44the grinning on the tyres. That has to go somewhere, and it goes on the

0:34:44 > 0:34:46

0:34:47 > 0:34:51track. -- graining. Lorenzo is trying to punch a hole through. You

0:34:51 > 0:34:57are looking at Lorenzo, in front of Casey Stoner. That looked a little

0:34:57 > 0:35:02bit precarious. Because he passed on the outside he had to be careful

0:35:02 > 0:35:07and judicious on the front brake. All the way through that first turn.

0:35:07 > 0:35:13It is a very scary corner, loading up the front end. He is through to

0:35:13 > 0:35:17second place now. If you wanted anyone to be due round there, as

0:35:17 > 0:35:27Casey Stoner, it would be Dani Pedrosa. He is not in the hunt for

0:35:27 > 0:35:33the championship. So, there is Marco Simoncelli. He is forming in

0:35:33 > 0:35:39on the back of his best buddy, Jorge Lorenzo. He would like to see

0:35:39 > 0:35:44him arrested, I think! Down the back straight we go. Casey Stoner,

0:35:44 > 0:35:54starting to get closer. Hector Barbera, trying to get past

0:35:54 > 0:36:01Valentino Rossi. That is not in the script! Valentino Rossi, we were

0:36:01 > 0:36:07expecting him do end up being the fastest and the highest up the

0:36:07 > 0:36:14leaderboard or the Ducatis at the end of the race. He got jammed into

0:36:14 > 0:36:19the curl up. It all went horribly wrong. Your home is, as such, and

0:36:19 > 0:36:25everything seems to go against you. Getting down as fixed-rate and then

0:36:25 > 0:36:30hooking to the left, when you have got a moment like that, for two,

0:36:30 > 0:36:37three and four altogether. Yes, it smooths everything all the the up.

0:36:37 > 0:36:45Colin Edwards did not get -- Colin Evans did not get a good start area.

0:36:45 > 0:36:52-- either. It is all ahead of him and you do not give these boys a

0:36:52 > 0:37:02head start, I can tell you that. Casey Stoner has a clear track in

0:37:02 > 0:37:04

0:37:04 > 0:37:13front of him. You can see the two Repsol Hondas, number 26 and 27.

0:37:13 > 0:37:23This is Marco Simoncelli. Just be careful! It is Marco, can you come

0:37:23 > 0:37:24

0:37:24 > 0:37:30out to play?! It is me, the guy with the hair! The Yamahas still

0:37:30 > 0:37:37enjoying the handling. The is a very sweet handling motorcycle. It

0:37:37 > 0:37:43looks it from where I am sad here now. They got new components and up

0:37:43 > 0:37:48thes of the engines. Bearing in mind it would only be another

0:37:49 > 0:37:54engine into the system, but both of them said that it was a minute

0:37:54 > 0:37:59advantage that they got with the test at Brno. There is the Honda

0:37:59 > 0:38:06behind, the factory Honda that Marco Simoncelli is on. He is in

0:38:06 > 0:38:10the slipstream. He is not gobbling up that gap. He is the biggest

0:38:10 > 0:38:15rider in the field. Looking at Nicky Hayden, paying a bit of a

0:38:15 > 0:38:25price, trying to go round the outside! Is he close enough? Can he

0:38:25 > 0:38:26

0:38:26 > 0:38:36do it? Boy, old boy! That was scary, as Pedrosa pushed him back. By the

0:38:36 > 0:38:39

0:38:39 > 0:38:46time Dovizioso de grips from that it will be all over. -- regroups.

0:38:46 > 0:38:56Casey Stoner is the first into a 1.39 per lap. Do the seal so there,

0:38:56 > 0:39:00clean as a whistle. Nice job! -- Dovizioso. This is really close now.

0:39:00 > 0:39:06Bike a matter of the 7th. His team- mate is in front of him. He wants

0:39:06 > 0:39:10to get past. No surprise that Dani Pedrosa beaten into the first turn,

0:39:10 > 0:39:16but the surprise that Casey Stoner has close them down. Casey Stoner

0:39:16 > 0:39:21will be thinking about tyres. Do I want to get past, tried to run out

0:39:21 > 0:39:25a lead, and then gone out my tyres? He is generally easier on tyres,

0:39:25 > 0:39:31because of the weight factor. And because it is very sweet riding

0:39:31 > 0:39:38style. Casey Stoner is the more aggressive of the two riders. He

0:39:38 > 0:39:43does not crash it as such. It is amazing to watch him. That was

0:39:43 > 0:39:49Marco Simoncelli, the body language of bike number 58. The current

0:39:49 > 0:39:53champion back in front. Spinning up, coming out of turn 16. All the work

0:39:53 > 0:40:00that Marco Simoncelli had done, getting past, he has got to do it

0:40:00 > 0:40:05again. The thing that Casey Stoner has to consider, in second place

0:40:05 > 0:40:11behind his team-mate, Dani Pedrosa, he has got to conserve his tyres,

0:40:11 > 0:40:16but by the same token, but appears not in front he is not riding his

0:40:16 > 0:40:22own race, so he cannot be as smooth as he would want to be. This is all

0:40:22 > 0:40:25going through your head as -- at the same time as you are trying to

0:40:25 > 0:40:29write one of these monsters around the circuit, so you have got to

0:40:29 > 0:40:33take all of that into account. Casey Stoner will be having a good

0:40:33 > 0:40:37look at the clipboard everything he comes through, and when he has a

0:40:37 > 0:40:47big enough gap the Hendon, you can explore how easy it would be to get

0:40:47 > 0:40:50

0:40:50 > 0:40:55past. -- gap behind you. Number 11 is on a roll. He is coming through

0:40:55 > 0:40:59nicely. He will never recover from that mistake because he is out of

0:40:59 > 0:41:06touch with Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa. You do not get those guys

0:41:06 > 0:41:13a five-second head-start, Ben Spies. A in my opinion he was the only

0:41:13 > 0:41:17other rider on another manufacturer's machine, the Yamaha

0:41:17 > 0:41:23in the 50th anniversary covers, as it was in Laguna Seca, he was going

0:41:23 > 0:41:33to be running with these guys have got a clear track. He has decided

0:41:33 > 0:41:35

0:41:35 > 0:41:42that enough is enough. Oleg ban. Trying to brace. -- leg than. --

0:41:42 > 0:41:48down. Dani Pedrosa will be having a good look at the back of his team-

0:41:48 > 0:41:54mate's bike. Rear tyres do not seem to be a problem. It has been the

0:41:54 > 0:41:59front everyone has suffered with. They are running the softest front

0:41:59 > 0:42:01compounded they can. And it is still pretty hard. It is an

0:42:02 > 0:42:07interesting concept that you sometimes run a softer tyre than

0:42:07 > 0:42:12you want, even though the front tyres wear. With the harder tyre,

0:42:13 > 0:42:22you get not as much grip. But bearing in mind it is the softer

0:42:23 > 0:42:24

0:42:24 > 0:42:34tyre, it is still a very hard pan! -- tyre. Only Nicky Hayden is

0:42:34 > 0:42:41

0:42:41 > 0:42:48running the softer of the two neatly. This time around, we will

0:42:48 > 0:42:57get a clearer idea of how they can perform. The only guys in the 40s

0:42:57 > 0:43:01are Pedrosa, Stoner and Lorenzo. That was the moment when it all

0:43:01 > 0:43:06come back to Jorge Lorenzo. He almost ended up on top of the

0:43:06 > 0:43:16Curragh. But the real top of the side that he lost it and he has

0:43:16 > 0:43:18

0:43:18 > 0:43:28lost a lot of time -- the curve. I have never seen so much rubber on a

0:43:28 > 0:43:29

0:43:29 > 0:43:34track. It looks like her car brace. -- a car race. If you look over,

0:43:34 > 0:43:39you would just have to ride across the grass. That they're very from

0:43:39 > 0:43:46their tyres just rolls up in a ball - you called it marbles, and there

0:43:46 > 0:43:56is no grip, whatsoever. Yes, and expects to the tyres, and you could

0:43:56 > 0:43:57

0:43:57 > 0:44:06almost have lost a wheel. -- it proving hard to pass, one that

0:44:06 > 0:44:12Honda. We are riding with him now. There is that shot of him, and of

0:44:12 > 0:44:22course Nicky Hayden as well. All of those hammer guys will be

0:44:22 > 0:44:23

0:44:23 > 0:44:29disappointed about the start. -- does Yamal hard eyes. -- those

0:44:29 > 0:44:39Yamaha guys. That is the clutch of three that are fighting it out for

0:44:39 > 0:44:51

0:44:51 > 0:45:01when they were not all using the same tyres. That was or gay Lorenzo.

0:45:01 > 0:45:19

0:45:19 > 0:45:28He has the hammer down. You can see good big black line coming out if

0:45:28 > 0:45:38that Honda there. 20 laps to go of this, mate! This is his pass into

0:45:38 > 0:45:39

0:45:39 > 0:45:44slipstream. They are doing 200 miles an hour. At 200 miles an hour,

0:45:44 > 0:45:54it is all you can do to just hold on. Valentino Rossi is clinging on

0:45:54 > 0:46:08

0:46:08 > 0:46:15to the back of the field. He is in probably come into the pits.

0:46:15 > 0:46:20Whether that is an issue with tyres. He is last on the track, behind

0:46:20 > 0:46:30Karel Abraham. He is right that the back of the field. He is just

0:46:30 > 0:46:31

0:46:31 > 0:46:36coasting. That is his 4th place in the championship out of the window.

0:46:36 > 0:46:46His season is getting worse, not better. Ben Spies is still

0:46:46 > 0:46:53

0:46:53 > 0:47:03struggling. He can't get past these two. Nicky Hayden hung out wide

0:47:03 > 0:47:11

0:47:11 > 0:47:21there, and Andrea Dovizioso went through. Maybe they are going to

0:47:21 > 0:47:25

0:47:25 > 0:47:31change the tire of Valentino Rossi. That is a very sad sight. This is

0:47:31 > 0:47:40an Indy Car circuit, guys, so you have an inner pit road as well as a

0:47:41 > 0:47:50pit lane. He is confusing when you have to go around the opposite way.

0:47:50 > 0:48:00Casey Stoner still the guy a doing 39. Here is the replay. That was

0:48:00 > 0:48:06

0:48:06 > 0:48:16very, very close. Andrea Dovizioso up the inside. I think he will soon

0:48:16 > 0:48:18

0:48:18 > 0:48:25see a Yamaha moving upon him. This is where Ben Spies is fast, the

0:48:25 > 0:48:30infield section. Would you run up again, I think he is! He might have

0:48:31 > 0:48:36had a rotten start, but he is having about as much fun as you can

0:48:36 > 0:48:45with you're leathers on. That is two different moves into laps.

0:48:45 > 0:48:53Perfect. He is up into 5th place. Ben Spies is really on a move.

0:48:53 > 0:49:03Their next target for him is Marco Simoncelli. He is Andrea Dovizioso

0:49:03 > 0:49:12

0:49:12 > 0:49:15having a bit of the moment. - - tucked in a tiny bit there. It was

0:49:15 > 0:49:23enough for Ben Spies to know that was a green light for him to get

0:49:23 > 0:49:31past. When Casey Stoner is at the front, he keeps braking all the

0:49:31 > 0:49:38records! There is a graphic picture of how much rubber is on this track.

0:49:38 > 0:49:48Casey Stoner is putting a lot of it there himself! 18 laps remaining.

0:49:48 > 0:50:03

0:50:03 > 0:50:10length of the Straits - - districts. Ben Spies is a very economical

0:50:10 > 0:50:18rider. He gets his elbows out nice and wide. He comes from man

0:50:18 > 0:50:28handling big motorcycles around. He is looking forward to next season

0:50:28 > 0:50:53

0:50:53 > 0:50:58when the Bank's call up to 1000 cc. back and watching this. I think the

0:50:58 > 0:51:08best opportunity for Ben Spies would be keen to turn 10 or in to

0:51:08 > 0:51:14

0:51:14 > 0:51:22turn five. Marco Simoncelli is holding him up a bit now a.

0:51:22 > 0:51:32predicted, he just taxied down the inside. And Trevor... Marco

0:51:32 > 0:52:07

0:52:07 > 0:52:15what is going on behind its Casey He is going round two seconds

0:52:15 > 0:52:25slower than anybody else. There is something seriously wrong with his

0:52:25 > 0:52:29

0:52:29 > 0:52:34motorcycle. He did crash in qualifying. I would have expected

0:52:35 > 0:52:44him at least to be the lead Ducati. He always manages to pull himself

0:52:45 > 0:52:55

0:52:55 > 0:53:05through the fields, so it is seconds adrift of the guys at the

0:53:05 > 0:53:12

0:53:12 > 0:53:20front. I think that must have been a mistake. You you so much time

0:53:20 > 0:53:30when you run wide here because there is no grip. Marco Simoncelli

0:53:30 > 0:53:40is basically working himself backwards at the moment. Then Spies

0:53:40 > 0:53:41

0:53:41 > 0:53:51is now lapping faster than Casey Stoner. Next on his list is Jorge

0:53:51 > 0:53:54

0:53:54 > 0:54:00Lorenzo. Al barrow-boy to stare their stamina and down the inside

0:54:00 > 0:54:05of Nicky Hayden. He won't be wearing that Helmut again! Nicky

0:54:05 > 0:54:13Hayden being chased by Colin Edwards, who also has a different

0:54:13 > 0:54:17style Helmut this weekend. Nicky Hayden gave his all early on.

0:54:17 > 0:54:24the one guy that has gone for the softer of the two option front

0:54:24 > 0:54:34tyres. Well, he had his moment in the sun, but now she is paying for

0:54:34 > 0:54:40that investment and he is staring down the barrel of 9th place. We

0:54:40 > 0:54:50are getting less from Randy Dick Cheney than we thought he would - -

0:54:50 > 0:55:01

0:55:01 > 0:55:05we thought we would. - - Randy de Puniet. All these bikes are really

0:55:05 > 0:55:15struggling, these Ducati motorcycles, are really struggling

0:55:15 > 0:55:18

0:55:18 > 0:55:28with not having much front end feel. Cal Crutchlow just taking care of

0:55:28 > 0:55:28

0:55:28 > 0:56:10Apology for the loss of subtitles for 77 seconds

0:56:16 > 0:56:22ride of your life and not win the race. I am sure Ben Spies will

0:56:22 > 0:56:32enjoy this race, but just not the result. Casey Stoner Well, at the

0:56:32 > 0:56:39race - - at the rate it is going. He is still going very quickly.

0:56:40 > 0:56:48Let's to think about the politics of these two team-mates. Ben Spies

0:56:48 > 0:56:58wants to get on the podium at his home Grand Prix. If Jorge Lorenzo

0:56:58 > 0:56:58

0:56:58 > 0:57:46Apology for the loss of subtitles for 77 seconds

0:57:46 > 0:57:56gets past him, that will cost them be his 30th winner. Ben Spies is

0:57:56 > 0:58:05

0:58:05 > 0:58:15really giving a big look at his and best aboard comes out to tell

0:58:15 > 0:58:20

0:58:20 > 0:58:25him not to. Here we go! Can you imagine trying to stop them despise

0:58:25 > 0:58:33taking a podium in his home Grand Prix. You would have to stretch out

0:58:33 > 0:58:41a piano wire! This is where it Jorge Lorenzo is so neat. Very,

0:58:41 > 0:58:49very much so. There is something about riding in your home Grand

0:58:49 > 0:58:53Prix. It certainly did in my career! If you can just keep things

0:58:53 > 0:59:03running in the right direction, with the crowd behind you. I feel

0:59:03 > 0:59:21

0:59:21 > 0:59:28it is just a matter of time for Ben of last position. Valentino Rossi

0:59:28 > 0:59:38is still circulating, by the way. He seems to be getting back up to

0:59:38 > 0:59:43speed. What is going on? Something peculiar went on with him. Oh well

0:59:43 > 0:59:53find out about that later. Maybe she had a spare plug in his pocket,

0:59:53 > 1:00:04

1:00:04 > 1:00:11or something. Surely, it would have ran into the back of him. Not Ben

1:00:11 > 1:00:18Spies' problem. Almost ran wide and lost a huge amount. When Ben Spies

1:00:18 > 1:00:22looks over his shoulder, he has got past, cleanly. Slipstream in, down

1:00:22 > 1:00:28the inside, caught on the brakes. Then Jorge Lorenzo looks to cut

1:00:28 > 1:00:37back, but he cannot, out onto the dirty part of the track and he has

1:00:37 > 1:00:41to slow the bike right down. That says it all. A interest in the,

1:00:41 > 1:00:51Marco Simoncelli has got some issues, because Colin Evans has

1:00:51 > 1:00:52

1:00:52 > 1:00:56gone past him. Maybe it was that tyre issue, the front pad, going to

1:00:56 > 1:01:03softer pressures on the tyres and they have started burning up.

1:01:03 > 1:01:13was not the smoothest, we know. This is a potentially shocking

1:01:13 > 1:01:13

1:01:13 > 1:01:22result for Suzuki. He is up to sixth place. Poll Anne one, over

1:01:22 > 1:01:29the start-finish line. -- turn 1. I suspect that is because of that run

1:01:29 > 1:01:34by a. Everyone is getting past Marco Simoncelli. As Steve was

1:01:34 > 1:01:41explaining, his front tyres, they are getting more grit out of the

1:01:42 > 1:01:49rear, than the front. Wide open was the gesticulation to number 19.

1:01:49 > 1:01:56This will be something a bit special for him. True old Nicky

1:01:56 > 1:02:03Hayden. Remember him? He was doing his level best, and importantly,

1:02:03 > 1:02:11for him, he remains the leading candidate. Behind him is Randy de

1:02:11 > 1:02:21Puniet. Valentino Rossi is currently in the keen position. He

1:02:21 > 1:02:22

1:02:22 > 1:02:27has Toni Elias just in front of him. -- in 15th position. Marie cannot

1:02:27 > 1:02:31wait for the explanation for this. We saw Valentino Rossi trying to

1:02:31 > 1:02:39get in to the pits, then he cancelled that decision and seemed

1:02:39 > 1:02:45to be picking up, then we saw this Capirossi. What is that about? Pass

1:02:45 > 1:02:51- Loris Capirossi. He has not had any feeling in the front, from the

1:02:51 > 1:02:58fourth lap. So something wasn't working for Loris Capirossi, and he

1:02:58 > 1:03:03decided not to wear himself out by going round and round. Look at that.

1:03:03 > 1:03:09We have looked at the animation of this man, throwing his body, just

1:03:09 > 1:03:18chucking himself or were. This is turn six, whether it looks as if he

1:03:18 > 1:03:26has crashed. Anti-virus the bike out of there. He is something else.

1:03:26 > 1:03:35-- and he fires the bike out of there. Here is extraordinary, this

1:03:35 > 1:03:45boy. 39.9 plays for the 0.3. He is not going to seriously threaten

1:03:45 > 1:03:45

1:03:45 > 1:03:54Casey Stoner. -- 40.3. It will be a Herculean task. We are riding with

1:03:54 > 1:04:01him now. With the PAC has been setting, what he has been doing, if

1:04:01 > 1:04:07anyone is going to burn any tyres out, it will be him. He actually

1:04:07 > 1:04:14got a way, OK, at the start, but watch, in a minute. It is not good,

1:04:14 > 1:04:24but he is on the inside. He is in fifth place. Then he gets pushed at

1:04:24 > 1:04:40

1:04:40 > 1:04:50there. It is like a horse race, getting jammed on the rails! We end

1:04:50 > 1:04:52

1:04:52 > 1:05:02were you in one of them? -- when were you? He got pushed out a

1:05:02 > 1:05:04

1:05:04 > 1:05:11little bit at that point. There was the moment. I would say, then, he

1:05:11 > 1:05:18was in the wrong gear, everything was going horribly wrong. It was a

1:05:18 > 1:05:28grand recovery. Casey Stoner has done another quick lap, of De

1:05:28 > 1:05:42

1:05:42 > 1:05:51the track, every single lap, it is getting better. More importantly, I

1:05:51 > 1:05:57was about to say, that Ben Spies is about to tens of a second faster in

1:05:57 > 1:06:06this Larne, but that is not enough. Absolutely not. Another Ducati

1:06:06 > 1:06:15bites the dust. It would be nice to get a shot of the front pad. --

1:06:15 > 1:06:25tyre. We are down two Ducatis, we still have a few more to go. His to

1:06:25 > 1:06:27

1:06:27 > 1:06:35be nice to see if we had any issues with the tyres still shredding.

1:06:35 > 1:06:44just want to see what kind of state the front tyre is. Across the yard

1:06:44 > 1:06:54of bricks as they call it. It was made of bricks, in 1909. They are

1:06:54 > 1:06:57

1:06:57 > 1:07:07is market -- Dovizioso, in fifth place. I am guessing that Marco

1:07:07 > 1:07:12

1:07:12 > 1:07:20Simoncelli has a tyre problem, he is found in a place. -- down in

1:07:20 > 1:07:27eighth place. Valentino Rossi's lap time lasting round was 1.41 0.3. He

1:07:27 > 1:07:36is lapping faster than everyone else, up to Colin Edwards. Whatever

1:07:36 > 1:07:40was going on with him, it is now fixed. Maybe he could use the

1:07:40 > 1:07:46banking to cut some of the corners out. He was over the marbles there,

1:07:46 > 1:07:50that was pretty impressive. have to be very aware of the price

1:07:50 > 1:07:57of that, that track looks absolutely horrible, but sweeping

1:07:57 > 1:08:01the track is not an option. trouble with doing that is that you

1:08:01 > 1:08:11start sweeping some of the rubber of it, and some of the gravel

1:08:11 > 1:08:11

1:08:11 > 1:08:16across it. That is how it would look at, that is useful for Casey

1:08:16 > 1:08:22Stoner, Jorge Lorenzo's team-mate. Ben Spies has done hand at

1:08:22 > 1:08:32something of a favour by getting past. -- bun him something of a

1:08:32 > 1:08:53

1:08:53 > 1:09:03hot, sunny afternoon in in the lap moment. I do not see any graining

1:09:03 > 1:09:06

1:09:06 > 1:09:12on the tyres of Dani Pedrosa. you were seeing out there, Ben

1:09:12 > 1:09:18Spies crashed out handsomely with the crash and the Czech Republic.

1:09:18 > 1:09:26That put paid to any impinges he had of the championship. Casey

1:09:26 > 1:09:31Stoner was leading the championship, certainly after he got bald author,

1:09:31 > 1:09:41Valentino Rossi, who is absolutely charging through the field now. He

1:09:41 > 1:09:49

1:09:49 > 1:09:58is absolutely on it, he's and 12 winded. He has some issues. He is

1:09:58 > 1:10:05willing to say, go past me, I have got something wrong. I reckon that

1:10:05 > 1:10:11your earlier clue was the one. The front tyre. He was the one that

1:10:12 > 1:10:17went for the softer option, for the empire. I was stupid, I was done,

1:10:17 > 1:10:22he was saying to himself. Probably not to himself, but anyway. It has

1:10:22 > 1:10:32not work. It seems that Campbell did not pay off for Nicky Hayden.

1:10:32 > 1:10:42It looked good at the beginning, but a lot of things do. This is

1:10:42 > 1:10:43

1:10:43 > 1:10:53Hector Barbera, No. 8. All of those guys, hard chargers from the world

1:10:53 > 1:10:54

1:10:54 > 1:11:04of 250s. He is in a third of that pack. And that is the battle for 9,

1:11:04 > 1:11:11

1:11:11 > 1:11:16in the 1.39s. No one else is doing that at the moment. Coming out of

1:11:16 > 1:11:22that turn 16, it is extraordinary. The bike gets slammed into the

1:11:22 > 1:11:25corner, drifts through, he likes up the rear pack, then he kneels it

1:11:25 > 1:11:34and climbs to the front of the motorcycle and guests up to 200

1:11:34 > 1:11:40miles an hour. I bet that these guys are pleased they signed him up,

1:11:40 > 1:11:50this year. And I bet that Ducati are disappointed they didn't, and I

1:11:50 > 1:11:51

1:11:51 > 1:12:01think, honestly, they could have done. Casey Stoner felt they were

1:12:01 > 1:12:04

1:12:04 > 1:12:14not taking his illness seriously. He has enough of a buffer now. No

1:12:14 > 1:12:16

1:12:16 > 1:12:22one is going to catch him. Four seconds between Pedrosa and Stoner.

1:12:22 > 1:12:31He has had a remarkable race, coming from 10 or 11 on the first

1:12:31 > 1:12:37lap. He must have worked out those pals. He has had to do that,

1:12:37 > 1:12:45passing guys, using different lines. And I think, Ben Spies now, has

1:12:45 > 1:12:54settled for a podium position, which is pretty remarkable. A great

1:12:54 > 1:12:58shock of Casey Stoner breaking with one finger. -- shot. The brakes on

1:12:58 > 1:13:08that bike would be the same as for your Mercedes which weighs 2.5

1:13:08 > 1:13:15tonnes. And it is like doing a handstand, every single corner.

1:13:15 > 1:13:21the fitness levels, wearing everything, led us, hill mice.

1:13:21 > 1:13:31Three laps to go. He is just cruising now. The Jorge Lorenzo is

1:13:31 > 1:13:31

1:13:31 > 1:13:38four seconds back. He is one of the bigger guys in the field. Still, it

1:13:39 > 1:13:46is still tiny by comparison. They are so compact, these riders.

1:13:46 > 1:13:52Basically, the polar opposite to you, Charlie! They train to get

1:13:52 > 1:13:58themselves so fit. Yes, but they are not man-mountains like you!

1:13:58 > 1:14:03They cannot bolt up. They want to be as light and strong as they

1:14:03 > 1:14:13possibly can, and one of the phenomenons up there is Dani

1:14:13 > 1:14:15Pedrosa. Grappling with these monsters, 230 brake horsepower. The

1:14:15 > 1:14:25power to weight racial for Dani Pedrosa has probably superior to

1:14:25 > 1:14:25

1:14:25 > 1:15:09Apology for the loss of subtitles for 77 seconds

1:15:09 > 1:15:19Hayden. Let's have a look at this line down into that corner. Marco

1:15:19 > 1:15:29Simoncelli has now got this posse of maniacs closing him down. Round

1:15:29 > 1:15:30

1:15:30 > 1:15:38comes Randy de Puniet. As soon as you run out wide on to deter key

1:15:38 > 1:15:45part of the track, you have no grip. If you look at the left side of

1:15:45 > 1:15:55Marco Simone Jelley - - Marco Simoncelli's tyre, it is completely

1:15:55 > 1:15:59

1:15:59 > 1:16:07gone. When you have got new tarmac down, it is so abrasive, and it is

1:16:07 > 1:16:16just tearing up the tyres. Brixton have gone to their hardest tyre,

1:16:16 > 1:16:26but it is graining. They are all talking about the disparity between

1:16:26 > 1:16:26

1:16:26 > 1:16:32the front and rear tyre. With the balance of a motorcycle, what every

1:16:32 > 1:16:39you do, it is all about trying to balance it. Nicky Hayden is going

1:16:39 > 1:16:46back out again because this way he will get a point for finishing.

1:16:46 > 1:16:51They have not changed the front tyre, either. They had just checked

1:16:51 > 1:17:01it to make sure he will not kill himself. We're on the last lap,

1:17:01 > 1:17:04

1:17:04 > 1:17:14boys and girls. Andrea Dovizioso has not that far away, so I don't

1:17:14 > 1:17:18

1:17:18 > 1:17:28think it is over yet. Lap times have dropped off a touch now, of

1:17:28 > 1:17:30

1:17:30 > 1:17:40course, as they would too. Even this man's, Casey Stoner. There is

1:17:40 > 1:17:45

1:17:45 > 1:17:52his wife. Hello! She is going to be a mum next year. That will keep him

1:17:52 > 1:17:57busy! Just counting down the latter now for Casey Stoner. He has

1:17:57 > 1:18:02finished on the podium at every single race this year except the

1:18:02 > 1:18:10second one, where Valentino Rossi knocked him off. This will be his

1:18:10 > 1:18:2030th win in MotoGP. He is A* and will be happy. A brilliant,

1:18:20 > 1:18:30brilliant ride. His team mates Dani Pedrosa, in second place. Ben Spies

1:18:30 > 1:18:35

1:18:35 > 1:18:40makes a to the last step of the podium. This is a great ride from

1:18:40 > 1:18:50Alvaro Bautista on the Suzuki. The boys on the Rizla Suzuki Team will

1:18:50 > 1:18:50

1:18:50 > 1:19:00be happy with that. Don't forget Colin Edwards, still in touch, 7th

1:19:00 > 1:19:06across the line. My goodness me! Hector Barbera has crashed on the

1:19:06 > 1:19:15last corner. You can see him at the end of the Straits with everybody

1:19:16 > 1:19:24riding past him. The Casey Stoner acknowledging the crowd, and why

1:19:24 > 1:19:31wouldn't you? Casey Stoner has won at the Brickyard. Will Hector

1:19:31 > 1:19:36Barbera get the thing going again and record a finish? Apple position,

1:19:36 > 1:19:43a lap record and a wind, it does not get much better than that, does

1:19:43 > 1:19:48it? That is the clean sweep. He has not got going again. He will be so

1:19:48 > 1:19:58cross with himself. You don't get points if you just walk across the

1:19:58 > 1:19:59

1:19:59 > 1:20:06line, you need to bring your motorcycle with you. He just went

1:20:06 > 1:20:16in too hard. No way. Across the kerb. What an ignominious way to

1:20:16 > 1:20:29

1:20:29 > 1:20:36ensure race. That was expensive. The body work is about $5,000 alone.

1:20:37 > 1:20:46Nicky Hayden with the crash by a Hector Barbera, that makes it up to

1:20:47 > 1:20:50

1:20:50 > 1:20:55two points for him. It makes it worth venturing forth. I just of

1:20:56 > 1:21:03Valentino Rossi shaking hands with Cal Crutchlow, they have have been

1:21:03 > 1:21:11having a good fight with each other. Cal Crutchlow had not raced this

1:21:11 > 1:21:19circuit before. Here is the moment that made it. Just moving past his

1:21:19 > 1:21:29team-mate. I was going to say hang on to your hair, but that poor lad

1:21:29 > 1:21:39

1:21:39 > 1:21:43does not have any! Ben Spies paid an enormous price for making a

1:21:43 > 1:21:49little mistake in the first couple of turns. You never know where to

1:21:49 > 1:21:56go, you think should I go white wides or whatever. Sometimes it is

1:21:56 > 1:22:00just pure bad luck. Dani Pedrosa qualified as hard as he could, but

1:22:00 > 1:22:10second behind Casey Stoner. Casey Stoner only beaten by four seconds

1:22:10 > 1:22:24

1:22:24 > 1:22:31or so, so not the enormous gap that we might have expected. Ben Spies

1:22:31 > 1:22:4110 seconds adrift after so many laps. These guys will be absolutely

1:22:41 > 1:22:43

1:22:43 > 1:22:49exhausted. 28 laps and he is only 10 seconds off it. And at - - and I

1:22:49 > 1:22:56bet about eight seconds of that was on the first lap. I could

1:22:56 > 1:23:04consolation prize for Ben Spies getting on the podium. Spare a

1:23:05 > 1:23:14thought for Nicky Hayden who had an absolute shocker. Alvaro Bautista

1:23:14 > 1:23:23it is not hurting his championship race at all. So, Casey Stoner, from

1:23:23 > 1:23:27Jorge Lorenzo. Dani Pedrosa has moved up into 4th place. Jorge

1:23:27 > 1:23:34Lorenzo is sort of smiling, but you can be pleased because the gap is

1:23:34 > 1:23:39stretching out. Valentino Rossi has brought to Championship places, not

1:23:39 > 1:23:49one, because at that performance. Valentino Rossi is now back in 6th

1:23:49 > 1:24:06

1:24:06 > 1:24:11place. Nice to see Suzuki's in there. I great day for Ben Spies.

1:24:11 > 1:24:18Probably one of the best rides at your life if you had made a better

1:24:19 > 1:24:28start. Yes, I pause and terribly bad, but just a lot of people got

1:24:29 > 1:24:33

1:24:33 > 1:24:39Her after that happen, I just have to stay within myself. I needed to

1:24:39 > 1:24:44be up there in the first four turns, but was just not there. I rode the

1:24:44 > 1:24:53best I could. It was very hard to pass out there because we could not

1:24:53 > 1:25:03get it done on this straight away. I was pretty happy with it. Thank

1:25:03 > 1:25:04

1:25:04 > 1:25:10you. It is a nice way of saying that the

1:25:10 > 1:25:19bike is not fast enough. It is not fast enough on the straight so you

1:25:19 > 1:25:26have to get it done on the corners. That is a fantastic aerial view of

1:25:26 > 1:25:35the circuit. It has even got an 18 hole golf course in the middle!

1:25:35 > 1:25:41This track was built for Formula One... sorry, when Formula One were

1:25:41 > 1:25:46here they went around the other way. Rear tyres were never going to be

1:25:46 > 1:25:52an issue this week, it was all about the front tyre. There is

1:25:52 > 1:25:58Valentino Rossi who salvaged a top 10 finish. I would love to know why

1:25:58 > 1:26:03she pulled off and then managed to get his speed back. He has always

1:26:03 > 1:26:10been pretty special. The Formula One guys raced on this the other

1:26:10 > 1:26:20way round, but it is mostly known for the Oval, and what an oval it

1:26:20 > 1:26:30

1:26:30 > 1:26:36Casey Stoner, congratulations. proved in the race. I made a few

1:26:36 > 1:26:41mistakes and did not have any brakes. I touched Dani Pedrosa and

1:26:41 > 1:26:46ran wide. It was very difficult to find somewhere to overtake on this

1:26:46 > 1:26:53track because if you were not on the correct line, you're on the

1:26:53 > 1:26:59dirt and you would be gone. We just did the best we could with the bike.

1:26:59 > 1:27:06I am pretty happy with how it once today. It was just about getting

1:27:06 > 1:27:10out to my home. I think the front tyre could have been worse but I

1:27:10 > 1:27:15was having to push it. We got a good enough start to stay up with
