:01:00. > :01:10.Stand Well Back And Turn Up Your Callers. A Good Start Again From

:01:10. > :01:21.Lorenzo! Dani Pedrosa Has Managed To Stuff It Down The Inside.

:01:21. > :01:34.Has he got? Gas, he has. Rossi right in that. He has got to look

:01:34. > :01:42.for a way back and he has done it. He is in all sorts of trouble here.

:01:42. > :01:49.He has gone from hero to zero. At the end I am satisfied because it

:01:49. > :02:01.was a good result, but I need to go faster in the race.

:02:01. > :02:14.Oh, dear me! He has missed the corner. He is down, he is down! Dani

:02:14. > :02:22.Pedrosa. Just what they did not want. Lorenzo knows it is a matter

:02:22. > :02:32.of time. I think he will cut through. There you go. Marc Marquez

:02:32. > :02:41.wins! When he passed me and tried to go away I tried my best to catch

:02:41. > :02:43.him. When he overtook me I thought I was able to be faster. I saw that I

:02:43. > :02:53.him. When he overtook me I thought I was hurting him. I may be touched as

:02:53. > :03:00.cable and for that reason he lost. I am very disappointed for that . He

:03:00. > :03:08.completely missed the braking. Not the first time but he missed it. In

:03:08. > :03:13.the touch he broke my traction control system and I was flying, so

:03:13. > :03:19.I only can tell you I was doing the right thing and there is not much to

:03:19. > :03:21.take but the positive part which is physically after the crash I am

:03:21. > :03:31.fine. Bittersweet podium champagne for

:03:31. > :03:38.Repsol Honda at Arab in two weeks ago. Marc Marquez's World

:03:38. > :03:41.Championship green is closer, Dani Pedrosa's is all but over. Welcome

:03:41. > :03:46.to the plan for life qualifying ahead of the Malaysia MotoGP grunge

:03:46. > :03:51.beware all of the talk has been about that incident between the two

:03:51. > :03:55.Spaniards at their home grand prix. They were called in to race

:03:55. > :03:58.direction for a review on Thursday afternoon and Marcus was given a

:03:58. > :04:03.third penalty point to add to his two already this year, leaning he is

:04:03. > :04:05.now just one short of having to start a race from the back of the

:04:05. > :04:08.grid. It is a decision that has start a race from the back of the

:04:08. > :04:11.caused much debate and decision here in the paddock but none of it is

:04:11. > :04:20.more valuable or decisive than that of the rest are wrecked, Mike Webb.

:04:20. > :04:24.A touch of light has that was is normally considered a racing

:04:24. > :04:28.incident but I have to say we are looking all the way through the

:04:28. > :04:34.season and the way Marc Marquez is writing and his superb writing skill

:04:34. > :04:38.that has many times been close to contacting another rider and here we

:04:38. > :04:40.have an incident where he has contacted and even though it is a

:04:40. > :04:44.small contact the message we are contacted and even though it is a

:04:44. > :04:48.sending to him is, if you are behind another rider, it is your

:04:48. > :04:51.responsibility to make sure you are in control and don't contact the

:04:51. > :04:56.other rider. The rider in front can only write his lies and know matter

:04:56. > :04:59.what the rider in front of the rider behind has to take care said this is

:04:59. > :05:03.an official warning and he knows well what he is doing, he

:05:03. > :05:07.understands clearly the penalty and the reason for it and also the

:05:07. > :05:10.position that it puts him in. He is one point away from having to start

:05:11. > :05:14.at the back of the grid. He is aware of that. I expect him to perhaps not

:05:14. > :05:18.at the back of the grid. He is aware modify his style but to take more

:05:18. > :05:24.respect and a little bit more margin for error in the way he writes when

:05:24. > :05:27.he is close to other riders. So, Marc Marquez getting his

:05:28. > :05:32.knuckles rapped once again but essentially it is a penalty that

:05:32. > :05:35.should not have a bearing on the outcome of the championship. Staying

:05:35. > :05:45.out of trouble is the name of the game now for Marc over the next

:05:45. > :05:49.races. In theory he can wrap up the championship at volunteer. A win or

:05:49. > :05:50.two before them would sort it out, even before we get to the final

:05:50. > :05:53.round. Exciting but delicate times even before we get to the final

:05:53. > :06:00.at Honda. even before we get to the final

:06:00. > :06:05.We are with the boss. We have heard from Mike Webb about the reasons for

:06:05. > :06:10.the penalty for Marc first of all. What is the team saying about this?

:06:10. > :06:19.Do you expect him to change his style now? If you look at his season

:06:20. > :06:23.there have been a few times where he has been really aggressive. He has

:06:23. > :06:29.an aggressive style, but not that much, honestly. We don't have too

:06:29. > :06:32.forget when he was leading the championship. Sometimes what looks

:06:32. > :06:40.like aggressiveness is just a mistake, you know? So I think it

:06:40. > :06:44.will decrease even more this kind of mistake that seems to be

:06:44. > :06:48.aggressiveness. One thing we have not mentioned is the 25 points at

:06:48. > :06:52.Honda have been deducted from the constructors championship. I am sure

:06:52. > :06:57.the team are happy to take more of the flag and save Marc in his title

:06:57. > :07:00.bid but it sets a precedent, it is something we have not seen before,

:07:00. > :07:06.teens getting docked points for technical issues. What is the HRC's

:07:06. > :07:14.stands? We respect their decision. It was a tricky situation because it

:07:14. > :07:19.was a rider on the same team, the same manufacturer, and Marc did not

:07:19. > :07:25.really caused the crash, there was a problem with the bike, so we take

:07:25. > :07:34.our responsibility but it is really bad luck. But we can improve. Dani

:07:34. > :07:38.Pedrosa was angry after that race, understandably. How are the team

:07:38. > :07:46.managing the relationship between the two riders now? Is there any

:07:46. > :07:51.tension? For sure, it does not help, but they are both intelligent, they

:07:51. > :07:55.had experience. This is racing. We are sorry for Dani because he was in

:07:55. > :08:00.a good position in the championship but there is still a long way to go.

:08:00. > :08:04.You never know. And with the championship in Marc's grasp, will

:08:04. > :08:12.he ride a bit more cautiously and think of the point? The gap is

:08:12. > :08:16.reasonable but for races in a row, for races with three in a row, it is

:08:16. > :08:21.a demanding time and anything can happen. Thank you.

:08:22. > :08:25.We will stop thinking about it for now, I am sure we will have plenty

:08:26. > :08:29.more of that tomorrow. The boys just getting ready to go out for

:08:29. > :08:37.qualifying so let's bring you up to speed on the order of play.

:08:37. > :08:44.Dani Pedrosa has taken out his frustrations on the track. Yesterday

:08:44. > :08:50.he was a second clear of Marc Marquez. Neither has managed to

:08:50. > :08:57.improve their times today. Cal Crutchlow and Bradley Smith safely

:08:57. > :09:04.through to Q2. Aleix Espargaro is the best of the rest. He is trying

:09:04. > :09:08.to steal one of two available places through to Q2. Plenty for Charlie

:09:08. > :09:13.and Steve to get their teeth into. We have had a bit of rain here,

:09:13. > :09:17.typical monsoon conditions and it is very hot now. With one eye on the

:09:17. > :09:22.whether it will be an interesting half an hour or so, isn't it? The

:09:22. > :09:26.weather here is so variable, you are dead right. It could go any which

:09:26. > :09:30.way in terms of conditions will stop they will want to get out as quickly

:09:30. > :09:36.as they can, especially in a short session. Generally it rains later in

:09:36. > :09:40.the afternoon, three or 4pm, which is exactly the time scheduled to

:09:40. > :09:48.stop these lunchtime showers, we had a torrential one here yesterday at

:09:48. > :09:53.mid-8 -- at mid-day. But practice want about to take place. As we

:09:54. > :09:59.know, this is 15 minutes and the top two can squeeze their way through

:09:59. > :10:03.into the final qualifying session. The hot money, as Matt was saying,

:10:03. > :10:14.Aleix Espargaro the best of the rest. Also Andrea in only. And his

:10:14. > :10:19.new team-mate for the time being. Yes, he took over Ben Spies' bite.

:10:19. > :10:22.We wonder what will be happening to him, rumours are that he will end up

:10:22. > :10:28.in Superbike next year, but we are also hearing that it has all been

:10:28. > :10:34.sorting out with Alex Espargaro and he will be joining the team racing

:10:34. > :10:43.here. Interesting to see what they do. They will be the independent

:10:43. > :10:52.spec, whether they are allowed 24 litres. I know they will build the

:10:52. > :11:02.FDR chassis later on. All very exciting. Hernandez sitting there

:11:02. > :11:06.thinking about what to do as we watch the rest of the field already

:11:06. > :11:12.circulating around. The key things about this, as Matt was saying, it

:11:12. > :11:16.is ever so hot, very humid. This is a long track, a very fast-track, and

:11:16. > :11:23.characterised by massive, massive braking zones, where the amount of

:11:23. > :11:26.strain and pressure not only on the rider but on the tyre and the front

:11:26. > :11:35.end of the bike was extraordinary. Yes, it is. 25, 26% of the track is

:11:35. > :11:42.on the braking circuit. Second longest track. It is a top want and

:11:42. > :11:55.big a big braking points. 1.5, 1.6 GS macro. Another big stuff as they

:11:55. > :12:01.come back to the final in turn 15. It is an interesting circuit, built

:12:01. > :12:06.way back in 1998. Way back! It seems quite a long time to me. I was still

:12:06. > :12:12.a kid! Indeed you were. Thank goodness you have looked after

:12:12. > :12:21.yourself. Randy De Puniet working his way through that. It is very

:12:21. > :12:28.similar in many respects, like the big drag down the back straight with

:12:28. > :12:29.the hairpin at the end of the pit straight. Fans of Horgan Lorenzo

:12:29. > :12:41.will remember what happened to him straight. Fans of Horgan Lorenzo

:12:41. > :12:43.-- Jorge Lorenzo. This corner here at the leisure offers the same back

:12:43. > :12:47.-- Jorge Lorenzo. This corner here door pass, I guess, if people want

:12:47. > :12:54.to push the point -- this corner at Malaysia.

:12:54. > :13:00.We are seeing speeds of 200 miles an hour. The bikes are not as fast here

:13:00. > :13:04.as at some of the tracks because there is simply no air around, the

:13:04. > :13:12.engine cannot work efficiently. It cannot suck in enough air. Thin,

:13:12. > :13:18.hot, wet, F. Not what you need. Cool, crisp air is what you want.

:13:18. > :13:20.The horsepower way down. It is a fantastic circuit in terms of

:13:20. > :13:26.layout. Different clothing direction changes, most of the riders really

:13:26. > :13:32.love it. Valentino Rossi is a specialist here, enjoys it

:13:32. > :13:35.particularly. It is a circuit which sees two pre-season tests so no one

:13:35. > :13:40.has any excuse when they come back here for not knowing what to do and

:13:40. > :13:44.at least having a good base setup. Interesting talking to the riders,

:13:44. > :13:48.they all come back here expecting the bikes to be perfect having

:13:48. > :13:51.tested, but they are not, they go off in different directions, sorting

:13:51. > :13:56.their bikes and four other circuits and then come back here. But you are

:13:56. > :14:01.right, everyone here has a base to start from, that is the upside.

:14:01. > :14:06.Bearing in mind the inclement weather we have had, we have had

:14:07. > :14:13.some good, long sessions here. It looks to be a fair bit bumpy at this

:14:13. > :14:19.year. The track tends to get a tiny bit bumpy as the years go by. There

:14:19. > :14:27.are good grip levels here. The Maureen angle you can get. It

:14:27. > :14:35.induces more chatter. -- the more lean angle you can get. One of the

:14:35. > :14:38.annoying and confusing things about MotoGP regulations is that you have

:14:38. > :14:52.two classes of light and they are very different. Top MotoGP machines

:14:52. > :14:57.cracking 320 K regularly, 325. These are running different regulations. A

:14:57. > :15:02.big, long, fast circuit like this, they pay a bigger price than in most

:15:02. > :15:05.big, long, fast circuit like this, other places. A longer period of

:15:05. > :15:11.time to lose time when your speed is not there. That is right this guy,

:15:11. > :15:14.Espargaro, is doing a really good job and you would expect him to

:15:14. > :15:28.probably squeeze through. That is one of those machines, possibly the

:15:28. > :15:33.best ART machine. Here we go, there is his brother who will join the

:15:33. > :15:42.Tech three team next year, replacing Cal Crutchlow, and we will find out

:15:42. > :15:50.what sort of lap time this will be. The times we are looking for by way

:15:50. > :16:01.of a guide, the best time set by Espargaro, 2.02 .05. It was a

:16:01. > :16:09.cracking time for Colin Edwards bearing in mind his fastest lap has

:16:09. > :16:15.been double 03.05. Colin knows there is no points for free practice, it

:16:15. > :16:21.is all about when you have got to do it. He is certainly the oldest rider

:16:21. > :16:22.out there at 39. Can you believe Valentino Rossi is the second oldest

:16:22. > :16:32.rider, frightening. Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi

:16:32. > :16:36.will know as well, with the vagaries of the weather, you have to get out

:16:36. > :16:40.and get a time straightaway. Colin using his time to think, no point

:16:40. > :16:45.pussyfooting around, I might not have the session at the end so get

:16:45. > :16:54.out there and get it done. Eight minutes maiming of this session. We

:16:54. > :16:59.saw a shot of Andrea Iannone. We know he has got some more speed in

:16:59. > :17:03.him because he has already done 2.02 this weekend. He had his second

:17:03. > :17:09.chance to see what he can do. Colin Edwards still go through. That was

:17:09. > :17:15.just a little bit slower, that time of his still stands. I would say the

:17:15. > :17:22.just a little bit slower, that time person to knock him out of Q2 will

:17:22. > :17:28.be Iannone, who is about to go out in his second time. Iannone on the

:17:28. > :17:34.Pramac machine and also Yonny Hernandez, they are full-blown

:17:34. > :17:40.MotoGP bikes, unlike this man here, Hector Barber on the CRT. You would

:17:40. > :17:45.expect and they would hope, the MotoGP boys, that they will get

:17:45. > :17:51.through. Espargaro is a giant. Colin Edwards doing very well so far.

:17:51. > :17:55.Espargaro goes a bit fast and he takes off another -- he takes

:17:55. > :18:07.another tense. -- another Colin Edwards is still clinging on

:18:07. > :18:09.in second place. I expect that Iannone will be going out all guns

:18:09. > :18:28.blazing. A good time from him. Espargaro, it

:18:29. > :18:33.compares with 2.02.5. Often this afternoon sessions are slower

:18:33. > :18:39.because the track temperature gets higher and things do not grip, the

:18:39. > :18:44.engines do not work quite so well. It is not the committee we have had

:18:44. > :18:52.in past seasons here. -- it is not the humidity. The tractor which was

:18:52. > :18:57.just under 40 and it is rising now. It is very common to get track

:18:57. > :19:03.temperatures way north of 50 which must put enormous stress on those

:19:03. > :19:09.tyres. I suspect it was cooler for your run. I had the air conditioning

:19:09. > :19:12.on the whole way! Colin Edwards having a think about it. They all

:19:12. > :19:34.have time for one more shot at it. He has been struggling all weekend,

:19:34. > :19:38.he is obviously new to the bike. He encountered some gearbox issues, the

:19:38. > :19:41.team have told me it is probably down to his inexperience of riding

:19:41. > :19:50.the bike come they thought the gearbox was a little bit -- was

:19:50. > :19:54.probably OK. He has not done a half a second off his best. That is he

:19:54. > :20:03.has knocked another half a second. Every rider out there is hugely

:20:03. > :20:06.experienced and we are three quarters of the way through the

:20:06. > :20:10.season. Joining the team at this point of the year will all with the

:20:10. > :20:11.year will it be extremely tough. We'll Iannone bump Colin Edwards out

:20:11. > :20:25.of this session? He needs to keep the momentum going.

:20:25. > :20:34.He is 23 years old, Iannone, one of the younger guys in the field. He is

:20:34. > :20:39.probably stretching himself a bit now. I think this is probably going

:20:39. > :20:44.to do it for Colin Edwards, it could unfortunately knocking out of

:20:44. > :20:53.qualifying one. Espargaro was thinking whether he needs to go out

:20:53. > :20:58.or not. This is going to be very close but I don't think it will be

:20:58. > :21:03.enough. He has got away. He might grab a bit back on the straights but

:21:03. > :21:10.Colin Edwards, it would be quite a performance from him. He will stand

:21:10. > :21:18.that bike up, try to get the power down, second year, third gear, he

:21:18. > :21:23.goes over the line. He has done it. There you go. The Oracle has spoken.

:21:23. > :21:27.Just pips Colin Edwards who is under a tenth behind that time. If he

:21:27. > :21:35.chucks one more boot at it, you never know. It has inspired him to

:21:35. > :21:39.put his helmet back on an Espargaro is going to run his second tyre, he

:21:39. > :21:43.will have to get out there quick and get a reasonably quick lap. Get

:21:43. > :21:50.everything ripped off, a long lap like it is, he has 325, you will

:21:50. > :21:54.have to get his finger out a touch. He can't go out and join at race

:21:54. > :21:59.pace, he will have to build it up a little bit. Trying to get a second

:21:59. > :22:02.lap out of this tire, I would imagine it is a pretty forlorn hope.

:22:02. > :22:19.-- this tire. We shall see what happens to Colin,

:22:19. > :22:34.Iannone has gone quicker. But not quick enough. He is through so far.

:22:34. > :22:40.I think Colin provably doesn't realise that Iannone has bumped him

:22:41. > :22:48.back out of this section -- probably doesn't realise. This will be slower

:22:48. > :22:53.but nevertheless, he is into the next qualifying session. This one

:22:53. > :22:58.finishes in two minutes. Espargaro did get out in time to get one warm

:22:58. > :23:02.up lap and get the tyres up to temperature before he fires in

:23:03. > :23:06.another one. Colin will be kicking himself when he finds out he has

:23:06. > :23:13.been pipped by such a small amount, seven hundredths of a second. This

:23:13. > :23:18.is a very strong lap from Iannone. It is possible it could even

:23:18. > :23:23.displace the time. It has. By a lot. He finished really well. The

:23:23. > :23:31.midsection of the lap was average but he has smoked the time of

:23:31. > :23:34.Espargaro. It happens, Lee, you are so busy looking at the time and you

:23:34. > :23:41.miss your breaking point. That it happens commonly. It didn't look

:23:41. > :23:52.like it was going to be a faster lap, it all came together towards

:23:52. > :24:00.the end. I believe there is more time left. There is no radio contact

:24:00. > :24:08.in this sport. Colin is back in the pits. We are hearing, and I think I

:24:08. > :24:15.can see a few spots of rain. All I can see is our producer having

:24:15. > :24:17.apoplexy. You would be no good at charades. The hand gesture was

:24:17. > :24:24.ridiculous. It looked like he was charades. The hand gesture was

:24:24. > :24:34.trying to catch a bubble! We will look at the pictures and wait for

:24:34. > :24:42.the rain. It is pouring with rain, that has put a cat amongst the

:24:42. > :24:46.pigeons for qualifying to. -- two. Colin Edwards will be thinking, why

:24:46. > :24:53.didn't that come five minutes earlier? It will be interesting for

:24:53. > :24:58.this next session. The top ten will be changing their bikes around, the

:24:58. > :25:02.two that have gone through, Iannone and Espargaro, have got to get back

:25:02. > :25:07.in and get their bikes reconfigured to wet conditions. Colin did his

:25:07. > :25:12.best, it if it right from him, especially how hot it was. The

:25:12. > :25:15.significant thing is that Matt Roberts will be frantically trying

:25:15. > :25:23.to find somewhere to stand out of the rain to not mark-up his hair!

:25:23. > :25:29.Iannone really nailed that. It was extraordinary, the differential. If

:25:29. > :25:32.you were riding one of the CRT machines, it must be utterly

:25:32. > :25:37.disheartening to see yourself really in touch until the full-blown bikes

:25:37. > :25:44.get a stab at the back straight, then the front straight and take

:25:45. > :25:53.that tenths out. -- take four tenths out. All of the bikes getting

:25:53. > :25:59.changed, about ten or 15 minutes job to get them switched over. They will

:25:59. > :26:03.be changing tyres but they then change the front fork springs, the

:26:03. > :26:07.rear shock absorbers. They will probably change the wheelbase length

:26:07. > :26:12.they might change the linkages, engine mapping, white and number of

:26:12. > :26:21.things have to be changed. A ten or 12 minute job to get it done. The

:26:21. > :26:22.teams are getting it sorted now. Iannone and Espargaro are going

:26:22. > :26:48.forward into qualifying to. We haven't had a wet qualifying

:26:48. > :26:53.session like this. The likes of Espargaro and co-, the CRT machine

:26:53. > :26:58.will be a lot more useful now it is raining. A fascinating session but

:26:58. > :27:04.most importantly, have you found a spot to stand out of the rain? We're

:27:04. > :27:11.worried about it. I appreciate your concerns, I have found a very good

:27:11. > :27:16.spot. Michael Laverty is with us, a bit of rain on your leathers,

:27:16. > :27:22.frustrating for you? I guess you put in a fresh tire and it got spoiled.

:27:22. > :27:28.That is it, we have been struggling a bit. Would pretty much fixed it

:27:28. > :27:33.and got out about half of the circuit but it was easier, we went a

:27:33. > :27:42.second quicker and then went quicker again in Q1. I didn't get the chance

:27:42. > :27:49.because the rain came down. I am being more positive than I was this

:27:49. > :27:55.morning. It is a lot easier to ride. Lookout, we might get run over by

:27:55. > :27:59.bike here. Hopefully we have direction now so we can have a good

:27:59. > :28:05.race. I can deal with it if I can push through it, if I stay on top of

:28:06. > :28:14.the chapter you cannot dig the tire in -- the chatter. A four o'clock

:28:14. > :28:20.race tomorrow, it usually rains around that time of day. What do you

:28:20. > :28:24.think about that? It would be quite cool, I have not had a wet session

:28:24. > :28:29.yet so it will be a bit of a baptism of fire. I go quite good in the

:28:29. > :28:34.wet, I was fast earlier in the year so I would welcome a wet race, it

:28:34. > :28:38.would mix it up and make it a bit easier in these temperatures, it is

:28:38. > :28:43.so hot and humid. With the humidity, the area so think you don't get a of

:28:43. > :28:47.oxygen. It is quite demanding, it is a work-out for all the team, they

:28:48. > :28:54.are sweating all day long. Same here, thanks. 19th on the grid,

:28:54. > :29:05.Michael, tomorrow. Let's take you next door. The garage door has come

:29:05. > :29:10.down. Here it comes. No sign under their of Stefan Bradl's second bike,

:29:10. > :29:14.or the rider himself because he had a crash in the final free practice

:29:14. > :29:19.this afternoon, which is basically a shakedown before qualifying takes

:29:19. > :29:25.place. He came off at the end of the straight, got his folks stuck

:29:25. > :29:32.underneath his bike. -- his foot stuck. And otherwise inconsequential

:29:32. > :29:38.clash, -- crash, not much damage to the bike but he gets his ankle

:29:38. > :29:41.trapped. He has been undergoing x-rays and the medical Centre have

:29:41. > :29:47.confirmed that he has got a fracture in his foot. He will not be taking

:29:47. > :29:53.part in qualifying and he will face a real race against time to get fit

:29:53. > :30:00.for tomorrow's race. But we have seen it done before. It was an

:30:00. > :30:04.incredible accident. So in consequential, it just looked he had

:30:04. > :30:13.snagged his foot. I think it was on the Astroturf, that is what did the

:30:13. > :30:17.damage. It did look to me when we saw the replay that, as he was

:30:17. > :30:21.sliding, literally one of the best corners you could crash on, loss of

:30:21. > :30:25.run-off, not very fast into the corner in comparison to some of the

:30:25. > :30:28.others, but I think he snagged it where it went from the tarmac

:30:28. > :30:32.through to the Astroturf and that is what has pledged his ankle. Bad news

:30:32. > :30:36.for him but if it is a fractured ankle we have three races coming up

:30:36. > :30:40.and that will put paid to his chances in the championship.

:30:40. > :30:48.Currently sitting in sixth position, Stefan Bradl, so bad news. Never a

:30:48. > :30:52.good time to break your ankle but at the start of three races

:30:52. > :30:56.back-to-back, about as bad as you can make it. He is right in the

:30:56. > :31:03.thick of it, in the hunt for points, so it could be costly

:31:03. > :31:07.indeed. Getting back to what Michael was saying to Matt in the pit lane,

:31:07. > :31:12.trying to set up and get around the chatter. The interesting point he

:31:12. > :31:16.races, we have got it nailed in some corners and not others. The speed of

:31:16. > :31:26.the corner... And how bumpy it is and the grip you have around it.

:31:26. > :31:28.Chatter is an electrical problem -- like an electrical problem you

:31:28. > :31:39.having your car, something you cannot pinpoint, it could be so many

:31:39. > :31:42.things, it could be something you could change on your engine mapping,

:31:42. > :31:47.something to do with forks, all sorts of components can affect

:31:47. > :31:50.chatter and it is all about working your way through the system. As we

:31:50. > :31:54.heard from Michael, they said they have got it sorted out on some of

:31:54. > :31:58.the track. On other parts, it is loading up a lot more. Colin

:31:58. > :32:06.the track. On other parts, it is Edwards' Garrard was a pretty

:32:06. > :32:14.interesting qualifier for both of those. You did not need the rain at

:32:14. > :32:17.the end, did you? No, it is like this every year. Every time it can

:32:17. > :32:25.be rain and it can be sunshine but this every year. Every time it can

:32:25. > :32:30.it is OK, we do our job. I am feeling good because yesterday was

:32:30. > :32:38.more than one second and now we are close, 0.3, so I am so happy. What

:32:38. > :32:41.do riders want for the race? Quite a few said they would like a rain race

:32:41. > :32:44.because it does not exert so much from the body and with the

:32:44. > :32:49.temperatures like this you need to keep all your energy down as much as

:32:49. > :32:53.you can. The problem here is like, if it is raining it is so hot, so

:32:53. > :32:57.maybe it is worse than if it is sunshine, because the humidity, the

:32:57. > :33:03.heat from the ground, and we never arrived here when the rain is

:33:03. > :33:10.weaker. Tomorrow will be interesting with the Ranger in the race. I am

:33:10. > :33:15.almost sure it will be raining tomorrow. Well, good luck in any

:33:15. > :33:20.conditions. Claudio Corti is riding well. This is a really interesting

:33:20. > :33:26.little problem they have got here, because although we have just had a

:33:26. > :33:27.huge clump of rain, it dries fast as well which makes the tyre choice

:33:27. > :33:33.tricky. It is hard to imagine wet well which makes the tyre choice

:33:33. > :33:37.weather tyres surviving a lap. It looks to me it will be better as it

:33:37. > :33:41.goes on but we only have 15 minutes so it will be tricky as to what you

:33:41. > :33:45.can get away with. I think most of the guys will go out on a wet tyre

:33:45. > :33:48.but will have to evaluate what is going on and see if they can change

:33:48. > :33:52.around. We spoke about changing your bags, in MotoGP they have two bags,

:33:52. > :33:57.so they can have one for dry and one for wet and decide what to do at the

:33:57. > :34:01.last minute, but we have got about seven minutes before they set off

:34:01. > :34:05.out. The Ducati boys will probably be looking forward to it if it is a

:34:05. > :34:08.bit clement out there because they have not had much luck sorting out

:34:08. > :34:13.the chassis in dry conditions so let's see what they can do in the

:34:13. > :34:16.wet. It does dry so quickly, the rain has completely stopped, so

:34:16. > :34:21.there is a chance they will be out on slick tyres. The sun coming back

:34:21. > :34:26.out again, so that will dry it in no time flat. It really is four seasons

:34:26. > :34:36.every hour here. It is like a big grow bags, like living in a dog's

:34:36. > :34:49.mouth. I have never tried that! The Sun out, everyone getting ready.

:34:49. > :34:52.Bradley Smith having a think about it. He has made it straight through.

:34:53. > :34:59.Bradley Smith having a think about He is into the top ten. He did not

:34:59. > :35:06.have to think twice about it. Slick tyres, there we go. I don't think

:35:06. > :35:10.they will set any pole position lap times or breaking any times with the

:35:10. > :35:15.track almost certainly having damp parts on it, and if it is but it

:35:15. > :35:22.track almost certainly having damp will look it. Standing water on a

:35:22. > :35:28.couple of the corners, as I recall. Your form guide for this session.

:35:28. > :35:34.Dani Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Rossi, the fastest three across the practice

:35:34. > :35:38.sessions leading up to this. Then it was Bradl, who is not starting now.

:35:38. > :35:42.Marc Marquez was only 50. Therein mind these are quite close together

:35:42. > :35:47.with the exception of the drizzle, who was head and shoulders above

:35:47. > :35:55.everyone else, a rare thing for him -- with the exception of Dani

:35:55. > :36:05.Pedrosa. Now you have Iannone and Espargaro in the mix as well. The

:36:05. > :36:16.best time so far is two minutes and 5.54. It will be blown to

:36:16. > :36:24.smithereens if they can get a dry enough line. It is amazing how quick

:36:24. > :36:28.it dries out. It was torrential rain that we had. If we were at Donington

:36:28. > :36:32.Park or brands Hatch it would not try for six hours. It would be dry

:36:32. > :36:37.on Tuesday! Because the circuit is so big, you can get torrential rain

:36:37. > :36:42.at one part, like a flood, and then huffed and sunny on the other part

:36:42. > :36:46.and it can really catch people out. The rain flags here are critical for

:36:46. > :36:52.people to know there is wet weather and head. One thing they have to

:36:52. > :36:55.become full of is that the tarmac might be dry but there could be damp

:36:55. > :37:01.parts on the curves, places they would run up. He is thinking, what

:37:01. > :37:06.is the point of me going out there. We will have a look at Aleix

:37:06. > :37:09.Espargaro. Another thing to watch, they go out in such a cautious

:37:09. > :37:13.manner that if they are not careful, we just saw Bradley Smith

:37:13. > :37:20.circulating, you are going so slowly you could lose heat in the tyre if

:37:20. > :37:24.they are not very, very careful. Interesting they have gone for the

:37:24. > :37:27.softer front tyre as well, which is not normally the way. I would

:37:27. > :37:31.imagine most of the teams did that. They might go to a harder front tyre

:37:31. > :37:35.for the second session. He is saying, go away from me, leave me

:37:35. > :37:41.alone, I don't want to be followed. I wonder who that was? Bautista?

:37:41. > :37:47.Your money is on the artist, isn't it? Guess. -- your money is on

:37:47. > :38:08.Baptist. Marc Marquez leading the world

:38:08. > :38:13.championship. Strangely, only 50 across the course of the three

:38:13. > :38:16.practice sessions. Expect him to do something superfast and literate.

:38:16. > :38:22.The man at the moment, though, on this circuit, is Annie Pedrosa. He

:38:22. > :38:26.won last year and has been supreme across the weekend. That was a big

:38:26. > :38:30.moment for Jorge their! I don't know if he is off the track. Maybe the

:38:30. > :38:41.track has still got some moisture on it. That is his first fast lap

:38:41. > :38:47.scuppered. That will not help artist who, he was clinging on to him as

:38:47. > :38:54.well. -- that will not help Alvaro Bautista. That proves it was holding

:38:54. > :39:00.well. -- that will not help Alvaro the water there, he did well to

:39:00. > :39:05.cling onto that one. That was exactly the sort of accident that

:39:05. > :39:11.ruined his year this year, just catching the water on the white line

:39:11. > :39:13.next to the tarmac. Anyone following would see what went on there but

:39:13. > :39:17.next to the tarmac. Anyone following they will have to say the lap times

:39:17. > :39:20.will be nowhere near as fast as we have seen, simply because they

:39:20. > :39:24.cannot use the curves and the paint, and that opens up the corners, you

:39:24. > :39:28.can run a bit wider, and I hope all of those guys, they won't see what

:39:28. > :39:36.we are seeing unless they were looking at the big screen to see

:39:36. > :39:44.what happened with Jorge Lorenzo. Looking back over the statistics, so

:39:44. > :39:47.many races here, so many qualifying sessions are confused by the

:39:47. > :39:51.vagaries of the weather. You go back over the records and it is sometimes

:39:51. > :39:56.hard to work out where the times came from. The circuit record lap

:39:56. > :40:02.for a race lap was set by Casey Stoner back in 2007, can you believe

:40:02. > :40:11.that? One of the few times we had a completely dry race. Valentino

:40:11. > :40:13.frighteningly on the white lines. That was late. He has managed to

:40:13. > :40:15.bring it back in, probably no cost That was late. He has managed to

:40:15. > :40:30.to his time. They Lorenzo has set himself a big

:40:30. > :40:34.task. He will have just one stab at this now. He has nine minutes

:40:34. > :40:39.remaining to go out and have another crack at this. Valentino Rossi is at

:40:39. > :40:46.2.03, clearly down to the rain shower. It is difficult to see from

:40:46. > :40:50.the camera but I think around the back of the circuit there will still

:40:50. > :40:56.be some damp, dark looking patches on the track. You try convincing

:40:56. > :41:03.yourself you can go over those as fast as you can. Alvaro Bautista on

:41:03. > :41:23.a pretty good laugh at the moment. Marc Marquez is also on a storm.

:41:23. > :41:27.Only nine of the potential 12 riders are out there at the moment. Rossi,

:41:27. > :41:46.Pedrosa, Smith. Alvaro Bautista goes second-fastest.

:41:46. > :41:49.Valentino Rossi on a stonking lap here. Marc Marquez is about to go

:41:49. > :42:08.fastest. It will all change when they go

:42:08. > :42:14.across the line. Marc Marquez comes round the final corner. They ask

:42:15. > :42:20.rolling in a big way. 1.5 seconds under already. The Reds went three

:42:20. > :42:29.for Marquez. Rossi is on a bigger lap. Crutchlow! Cal Crutchlow goes

:42:29. > :42:41.fastest. We are ready for another shower.

:42:41. > :42:48.As it stands, Marc Marquez would start on the second row of the grid.

:42:48. > :42:55.He will really have to set himself appear, cool hand Luke is sat there

:42:55. > :43:00.waiting to come out. Valentino Rossi slightly held up Marc Marquez there

:43:00. > :43:06.as he buttoned off the end of his lap. Dani Pedrosa pressing on. Cal

:43:06. > :43:13.Crutchlow still eking out some good time but it looks he has buttoned

:43:13. > :43:22.off. Yes, he has. Six minutes left, time to get every on. They will be

:43:22. > :43:27.hoping like hell but it dries out. They are not so far away. About a

:43:27. > :43:33.second but a lot of that is because they are unable to use all of the

:43:33. > :43:40.curbs and everything else. Very clever from Lorenzo, everyone is

:43:40. > :43:48.coming in, he is going out. He ploughs his own furrow, Lorenzo. Cal

:43:48. > :43:51.Crutchlow is right in front of him. Not best pleased about that. Not

:43:51. > :43:55.best pleased about a lot of things, he has has eight challenging

:43:55. > :44:01.weekend, Lorenzo. It was not going his way yesterday. He could not hold

:44:01. > :44:08.the line, he said the bike was running wide. This morning they got

:44:08. > :44:10.it together, he set a time just three tenths slower than the time

:44:10. > :44:19.yesterday by Dani Pedrosa in practice to. Dani Pedrosa, there he

:44:19. > :44:30.is, the fastest man this weekend so far. In any and Lorenzo now our

:44:30. > :44:48.contract. -- Iannone and Lorenzo now out on track.

:44:48. > :44:57.The doctor is back out. To see if he can find a bit more time. Let's not

:44:57. > :45:00.forget how important it is for the main protagonists here to get onto

:45:00. > :45:09.the front row. The new tactic of Jorge Lorenzo, they start getting in

:45:09. > :45:19.the term lap first. Mind you, here we have got from the drag race, it

:45:19. > :45:23.is about a third of a mile, I would have said, down to turn one, they

:45:23. > :45:27.will be up to about 170 miles an hour. A difficult scenario because

:45:27. > :45:30.you cannot practice that start so hour. A difficult scenario because

:45:30. > :45:33.you're breaking point will be later than it would normally be because

:45:33. > :45:39.you will be 30 miles an hour slower, but trying to judge that amongst 24

:45:39. > :45:47.other motorcycles or making about 210 decibel is very difficult. It

:45:47. > :45:56.stands with four minutes remaining, one last go, I think they can

:45:56. > :45:59.squeeze in one or two laps. Six 1000th of a second in front, great

:45:59. > :46:17.stuff. Lorenzo is going to cross this --

:46:17. > :46:20.the stripe to start his lap. It will be an interesting lap from him. It

:46:20. > :46:32.scares me when he goes on those white lines. I think only the kerbs

:46:32. > :46:35.are holding the water. Effort from Nikki Hayden, this should improve

:46:35. > :46:41.things, it does come up into fifth place. Middle of the second row so

:46:41. > :46:48.far for the Ducati factory rider. His team-mate is way back down the

:46:48. > :46:52.road. Hasn't really recorded a time, so plenty of work for a lot of

:46:53. > :47:03.people. Lorenzo is on a screaming lap. Marquez, that is not going to

:47:03. > :47:06.stop... That has ruined that lap, he will have to aborted, he has a long

:47:06. > :47:13.way to come around and come back and try it again. It has slaughtered the

:47:13. > :47:19.tactics. He will do very well to make a front row out of this mess.

:47:19. > :47:24.Lorenzo, seven tenths under, it is looking strong, really good. This is

:47:24. > :47:30.just what he wants. Pole position would really help his cause. He has

:47:30. > :47:41.got a bigger job trying to drag race the Hondas than most places. He is

:47:41. > :47:45.most so smooth, just like silk. All of the other drivers have been

:47:45. > :47:48.studying his style, the way he sits up and breaks in one fluid movement.

:47:48. > :47:59.-- and Mark Marquez is the guy who has got

:47:59. > :48:08.to sort himself out and have one last go at it. This is looking

:48:08. > :48:12.really good for crutch low. Lorenzo, almost a second under. Lorenzo is

:48:12. > :48:17.going to blow this sky-high, head down, bottom-up and across the line.

:48:17. > :48:24.That is no time from my timing monitor. One second, how about that,

:48:24. > :48:32.one second under. That is a huge lap. A full second underneath.

:48:32. > :48:39.Crutch low has gone away a little but it is still good. Crutch low's

:48:39. > :48:52.second, he is still hanging onto that. Dani Pedrosa has been traffic

:48:52. > :49:05.Bautista has gone second, Rossi has gone second, has gone second, all in

:49:05. > :49:14.the space of about two seconds, with a minute to go, how about that? --

:49:14. > :49:19.Crutchlow has gone second. Dani Pedrosa is going to try to stretch

:49:19. > :49:24.out what he can. I think he made a hash of pulling it up. It looked

:49:24. > :49:32.like he was going way too deep. Have the tyres got enough in them? We

:49:32. > :49:36.shall see? We have done a 2:07 but there has been a faster time across

:49:36. > :49:41.the weekend. He will want to get as much of a buffer as he can. Marquez

:49:41. > :49:50.on a good lap but not as much as Lorenzo's. It could get Lorenzo onto

:49:50. > :49:55.the front row. He just has this lap to do it in. He may squeeze in

:49:55. > :50:02.another, no he won't. Look at that, half a second! This is absolutely

:50:02. > :50:06.extraordinary, it is neat and fast. Bradley Smith is ahead of him but it

:50:06. > :50:12.shouldn't pose too many problems. He is tearing up the tarmac. Lorenzo,

:50:12. > :50:21.head down, bum up again and Lorenzo across the line. It won't be enough

:50:21. > :50:28.if Marquez keeps this in-line. Crutch low is on a good lap, too.

:50:28. > :50:32.This is like a terrific qualifying, it is almost like super pole. Look

:50:32. > :50:44.at this, Cal Crutchlow could get a pole position. It is going to scroll

:50:44. > :50:53.again. Down into the last corner, he has had to Mark Dovizioso.

:50:53. > :51:07.Rossi goes pole, volunteer Rossi -- Valentino Rossi! Marquez, how offer

:51:07. > :51:13.second -- half a second, how about that? Dani Pedrosa, he did out-brake

:51:13. > :51:22.himself and it is a stinker of a lap that? Dani Pedrosa, he did out-brake

:51:22. > :51:26.from him. Marquez, the first -- fastest ever lap in a race meeting

:51:26. > :51:34.that we have seen here. He just had that one go at it. Really bad news

:51:34. > :51:38.for Dani Pedrosa, it just went south to stop Jorge Lorenzo, for all of

:51:38. > :51:43.the great showing, is actually starting on the second row of the

:51:43. > :51:50.grid. It is a nightmare in a bubble car for him, not good at all. Not at

:51:50. > :52:05.all. Valentino Rossi is very happy. Stand up one leaded wheelie -- one

:52:05. > :52:13.it was just the one lap that he had comedy was way out of contention

:52:13. > :52:20.then. Lorenzo got unlucky, Valentino Rossi did a beautiful job. To really

:52:20. > :52:27.give him some major speed. Is he happy about it? He will hurt himself

:52:27. > :52:35.in a minute if he carries on. Nice to see Crutchlow back on the front

:52:35. > :52:39.Row. He is getting his confidence back and getting the motorcycle

:52:39. > :52:40.working, he has found some stability and it is all coming back to him

:52:41. > :53:07.nicely. Interesting stuff. Espargaro didn't

:53:07. > :53:11.go out? He did, he is ninth. Stefan Bradl qualified but did not take to

:53:11. > :53:21.the track because he fractured his ankle, which is very unhelpful, in

:53:21. > :53:28.an unspectacular, low side crash. He got his foot tangled as he slid onto

:53:28. > :53:34.the Astroturf after the kerb. It's pretty special for Valentino Rossi

:53:34. > :53:41.and Cal Crutchlow, a great job. Only two hundredths of a second, did

:53:41. > :53:50.Rossi beat him. Launch control away, on board. Wouldn't it be good if

:53:50. > :53:59.your road bike could accelerate like that? You would get to the shops

:53:59. > :54:09.quick. You certainly would. He will not be happy. Good qualifying from

:54:09. > :54:14.Bradley Smith, seven. -- seventh. The complexion of this race has

:54:14. > :54:19.really changed, just from that qualifying. Lorenzo, as we were

:54:19. > :54:25.saying, his new trick has been to get to the first turn first. It will

:54:25. > :54:30.be mighty hard from the second row. Dani Pedrosa has probably got a

:54:30. > :54:35.better shot at it. I would say so, Valentino Rossi will be very

:54:35. > :54:44.pleased, the fastest of the Yamahas. They are saying, what

:54:44. > :54:51.happened, how did you go that fast? It was a cracking lap. Really

:54:51. > :54:56.strong. Confirming that, it is bad news, declared unfit, the man we

:54:56. > :55:01.were just talking about, Stefan Bradl. It was a freak accident, I am

:55:01. > :55:04.sure we will see it again over the weekend. It was one of those really

:55:04. > :55:13.annoying things, moments before the session ended. Don't we talk about

:55:13. > :55:15.this all the time? We keep saying, Marquez is going to win the

:55:15. > :55:21.championship, it could have happened to him. It is one of those tiny

:55:21. > :55:26.things that can go wrong. A little run across the gravel or whatever.

:55:26. > :55:28.An innocuous crash and you end up with a broken ankle and it can

:55:28. > :55:34.happen to anyone of riders. Good with a broken ankle and it can

:55:34. > :55:41.work from Crutchlow, he looked pretty strong all weekend. Right up

:55:41. > :55:54.until this morning's practice. He kept his head together and really

:55:54. > :55:59.pressed on. So close, two minutes and 11 hundredths of a second, that

:55:59. > :56:04.was it. There is the beautiful track. It covers a heck of a lot of

:56:04. > :56:05.real estate. was it. There is the beautiful

:56:05. > :56:16.track. It covers a heck of Look at the times between Rossi and

:56:16. > :56:23.Crutchlow, it is a tight old grid. What a belter from Crutchlow on the

:56:23. > :56:27.front grid. A few congratulations from Mark Marquez's dad,

:56:27. > :56:34.congratulations on the front row, what can you do their tomorrow? It

:56:34. > :56:38.will be very difficult, I have a real pain in my right arm from the

:56:38. > :56:43.crash at Silverstone, I need to have an operation on it. We qualified on

:56:43. > :56:46.the front row, we tried our best, the lap times were amazing

:56:46. > :56:52.considering one corner was wet. We pushed hard for that. We need to be

:56:52. > :56:58.starting on the front couple of rows to get away with these guys as best

:56:58. > :57:02.as possible. But I am pleased. The team have worked endlessly all

:57:02. > :57:06.weekend to find a bit of a setup. My guys, working on my arm. Hopefully

:57:06. > :57:13.tomorrow will be a good race. Good luck tomorrow. He raises a good

:57:14. > :57:18.question. With the injury he is carrying it is going to be a

:57:18. > :57:23.problem. Eight is. Dani Pedrosa looking rather disappointed, it just

:57:23. > :57:26.didn't go for him, you only have two chances and he missed them both. He

:57:26. > :57:34.has been fastest all weekend but when it counts, he was not. Marquez,

:57:34. > :57:39.when it counted, he was. Another lap record, you can't stop doing them.

:57:39. > :57:49.When Mackay am so happy, especially because qualifying like this was so

:57:49. > :57:53.difficult. The most difficult was the sixth and seventh turn, in the

:57:53. > :57:57.beginning they were completely wet. I know the lap time will be on the

:57:57. > :58:08.last lap because every lap was better and better. And, OK... We

:58:08. > :58:13.will see tomorrow! Good luck. I don't know how much he will need, it

:58:13. > :58:17.was such a powerful job by him. He was really quick, has been finding

:58:17. > :58:26.his way and now it is really working. A good debrief between the

:58:26. > :58:30.two of them. He can be magnanimous. It will be interesting. Anything can

:58:30. > :58:34.happen at this circuit. If it is anything like the fun we had this

:58:34. > :58:36.afternoon it will be a cracker. It is an early start, see you tomorrow

:58:36. > :58:39.on BBC Two.
