0:00:41 > 0:00:43But despite such a busy schedule, at least Patriots coach

0:00:50 > 0:00:51REPORTER:True or false.

0:00:51 > 0:00:52Bill Belichick goes carolling every year?

0:00:55 > 0:00:57Jingle Bells sung by Bill Bellichick, coming to porch

0:00:57 > 0:01:00near you in New England.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03Can you imagine opening your door and Bill Belichick is

0:01:03 > 0:01:04singing a carol to you?

0:01:04 > 0:01:08He seems so happy!

0:01:08 > 0:01:10Joining me once again, our two-time Super Bowl winner

0:01:10 > 0:01:12Osi Umenyiora and former NFL cornerback Jason Bell.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15Right, let's look at how the playoff picture looked coming into week 15.

0:01:15 > 0:01:20Pittsburgh and New England face each other this week.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23A New England win would take them back to number one seed due

0:01:23 > 0:01:24to their head-to-head record.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26Jacksonville had the opportunity to confirm a playoff place.

0:01:26 > 0:01:30But behind them, Buffalo, Baltimore and the LA

0:01:30 > 0:01:34Chargers are all tied on seven and six and have playoff hopes.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37The Eagles are NFC East divisional champions,

0:01:37 > 0:01:39but a win this week would secure them a first-round bye that

0:01:39 > 0:01:44comes from being either the number one or two seed.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47Behind them, it's so close, but two teams to pick out

0:01:47 > 0:01:49here are the LA Rams and Seattle Seahawks,

0:01:49 > 0:01:50who play each other this week

0:01:50 > 0:01:52in what is a must-win game at the top of the NFC West.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55So, New England vs Pittsburgh - they don't get much

0:01:55 > 0:01:56bigger than this.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59Two of the most successful NFL teams in history fighting it out once

0:01:59 > 0:02:02again to be the AFC number one seed.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07This is strictly A-listers only.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09This is where Super Bowl royalty hangs out.

0:02:09 > 0:02:15The Steelers' six Super Bowl titles against the Patriots' five.

0:02:15 > 0:02:18Headline acts in every shirt.

0:02:18 > 0:02:22Even when they do not speak, they are news.

0:02:22 > 0:02:28The Belichick stare that can turn a journalist to ice at 50 paces.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32This is regular season, but this is for rules the AFC.

0:02:32 > 0:02:37This is just another week of football, but this

0:02:37 > 0:02:40is Brady against Ben, Gronk and Brown, Cooks and Bell.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43The fuse is lit.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46Get ready to win this game!

0:02:50 > 0:02:54COMMENTATOR: 2nd & goal, and another touchdown.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57This is something that has been a regular happening for Burkhead

0:02:57 > 0:02:58here in the last few weeks.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01We see a great block by Devlin.

0:03:01 > 0:03:03The fullback right there creating the hole, and Burkhead just

0:03:03 > 0:03:07a touchdown machine when they get inside the red zone.

0:03:08 > 0:03:111st down, shotgun.

0:03:11 > 0:03:15And there is the 100th catch of the season for Antonio Brown.

0:03:15 > 0:03:24Now from the 18, new set of downs.

0:03:24 > 0:03:24Now from the 18, new set of downs.

0:03:24 > 0:03:32Rosters Berger completes it, and that is touchdown.

0:03:32 > 0:03:38Completes it, that's Rodgers!

0:03:38 > 0:03:41Ben has the option to hand it off, but he keeps it

0:03:41 > 0:03:42and throws it up the middle.

0:03:42 > 0:03:45What a perfect throw, right over the stretch of Rowe.

0:03:45 > 0:03:462nd & 18, fakes the handoff.

0:03:46 > 0:03:47Looks for another option.

0:03:47 > 0:03:49Bounces back, throws, in the end zone.

0:03:49 > 0:03:50Incomplete.

0:03:50 > 0:03:52Oh, there was traffic there, and so, too,

0:03:52 > 0:03:53was Antonio Brown, whose injured.

0:03:53 > 0:03:54Let's see his legs.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57Oh, yeah, he gets kicked right in that left calf.

0:03:57 > 0:03:59Being escorted to the sideline by the medical crew.

0:03:59 > 0:04:06STUDIO: With Antonio Brown's game over, Chris Boswell's 51 yard field

0:04:06 > 0:04:11goal gave the Steelers a 3-point lead.

0:04:11 > 0:04:13The Patriots quickly cancelled that out, Stephen Gostkowski's 32-yard

0:04:13 > 0:04:16field goal tying the game at 10-10 on their next possession.

0:04:16 > 0:04:18COMMENTATOR: Big play here, back to the field.

0:04:18 > 0:04:19For five wide, what will they do?

0:04:19 > 0:04:223rd & goal, he lobs it over the top and is reeled in.

0:04:22 > 0:04:25What a catch by Bryant for the touchdown!

0:04:25 > 0:04:28You can see Martavis Bryant right here.

0:04:28 > 0:04:30He's got Gilmore in his face, come across the field,

0:04:30 > 0:04:36he's shallow and Ben floats away over.

0:04:36 > 0:04:39And he holds that, see that left wrist holding that hand down?

0:04:39 > 0:04:42You'd better catch the ball when you only use one hand,

0:04:42 > 0:04:48but what a root and catch.

0:04:48 > 0:04:49Now 3rd & goal.

0:04:49 > 0:04:55Brady, throws it for the touchdown to Cooks.

0:04:55 > 0:05:02Watch him step up in the pocket, and Cooks gets

0:05:02 > 0:05:03inside leverage on him.

0:05:03 > 0:05:04What a throw?

0:05:04 > 0:05:06To throw that that tightly.

0:05:06 > 0:05:09This is a big point, needs some yards for a field goal at least.

0:05:09 > 0:05:12And they've been great on 3rd down so far, seven out of nine,

0:05:12 > 0:05:14so they need to pick up ten on this one.

0:05:14 > 0:05:16Incomplete.

0:05:16 > 0:05:18Bell wrestled down after the incompletion by Richards,

0:05:18 > 0:05:20and the crowd didn't like it, but there'll be plenty.

0:05:20 > 0:05:20Can Pittsburgh get a pass?

0:05:27 > 0:05:29They got to 'em, and it's intercepted!

0:05:29 > 0:05:31It's Williams who finally was able to pull it in.

0:05:31 > 0:05:32The pressure was on Brady.

0:05:32 > 0:05:35He had to upload it, and he's picked off for the first

0:05:35 > 0:05:37time in 12 years against Pittsburgh.

0:05:37 > 0:05:40It's Bell.

0:05:40 > 0:05:42He cuts back and he's in for the touchdown.

0:05:42 > 0:05:46Le'Veon Bell for the Steelers.

0:05:46 > 0:05:47Great run.

0:05:47 > 0:05:48Look at Roberts.

0:05:48 > 0:05:49Go get the ball!

0:05:49 > 0:05:50Go get the ball!

0:05:50 > 0:05:54He had an angle for him, and you see he just shot the gap.

0:05:54 > 0:05:56Linebacker, 52, Roberts, and Bell out runs him.

0:05:56 > 0:05:58STUDIO: Gostkowski's 46 yard field goal cut the Patriots' deficit

0:05:58 > 0:06:03to five points with four minutes left in the game.

0:06:05 > 0:06:06COMMENTATOR: He's going to move Smith-Schuster

0:06:06 > 0:06:07around to the right side.

0:06:07 > 0:06:10Across the middle.

0:06:10 > 0:06:15Patriots there to defend it, and stop them short.

0:06:15 > 0:06:16A yard short.

0:06:16 > 0:06:18A little high drama.

0:06:18 > 0:06:232:06 to play.

0:06:23 > 0:06:30It was passed, almost intercepted.

0:06:30 > 0:06:33Could have been a game ender had Sean Davis held onto it.

0:06:33 > 0:06:36The ball was deflected, looks like Hayward got a hand on it.

0:06:36 > 0:06:43Oh, my gosh, Sean Davis, to win the football game.

0:06:43 > 0:06:44Pressure on Rhodes, got Gronkowski at the 50.

0:06:44 > 0:06:531st & 10, Patriots from their 49.

0:06:53 > 0:06:55Brady down the field, and there is Gronk.

0:06:55 > 0:07:02That is Gronk's sixth catch of the half.

0:07:02 > 0:07:05Over 100 yards alone in this half, eight for the game, 151,

0:07:05 > 0:07:08you saw his hulk reaction, and they are fired up.

0:07:08 > 0:07:10He got about halfway there with that catch.

0:07:10 > 0:07:13Brady's going to call the play to the line of scrimmage now.

0:07:13 > 0:07:14He's got the coverage.

0:07:14 > 0:07:16Here is the 1st down throw.

0:07:16 > 0:07:21And off the ground, Gronkowski, it is a catch,

0:07:21 > 0:07:22and he strikes the pose again.

0:07:22 > 0:07:25The Steelers have one left.

0:07:25 > 0:07:27There is Lewis, and he's in for the touchdown.

0:07:27 > 0:07:31With 56 seconds to go, the Patriots have taken the lead.

0:07:31 > 0:07:33I think they're going to go for two.

0:07:33 > 0:07:35They should go for two here.

0:07:35 > 0:07:38This could make the margin three if they convert the two.

0:07:38 > 0:07:40It is a fade right here if he is one-on-one.

0:07:40 > 0:07:41Are they going to go double?

0:07:41 > 0:07:43Tom's looking at the safety.

0:07:43 > 0:07:45The double again wide open, Gronk pulls it down for the two.

0:07:45 > 0:07:49Look at that.

0:07:49 > 0:07:53Never a doubt that was where Brady was going to look.

0:07:53 > 0:07:55The midfield slant, Sean Davis just off balance.

0:07:55 > 0:08:00And now the Steelers will have 56 seconds.

0:08:03 > 0:08:05Across the middle, Smith-Schuster running across that side,

0:08:05 > 0:08:06taking as much as he can.

0:08:06 > 0:08:07But he breaks away.

0:08:07 > 0:08:09Now he cuts it up the middle.

0:08:09 > 0:08:11Still on his feet, looking for some help.

0:08:11 > 0:08:16Inside the 15, and all the way to the 10-yard line.

0:08:21 > 0:08:23Time out if you're Pittsburgh, time-out Pittsburgh!

0:08:23 > 0:08:2469 yards.

0:08:24 > 0:08:25This is incredible.

0:08:25 > 0:08:27It is a crossing route, and he comes underneath real

0:08:27 > 0:08:29flat, and he gets away.

0:08:29 > 0:08:31Richard Smith Tim.

0:08:31 > 0:08:33And he just kept running, and the rookie, I can't

0:08:33 > 0:08:37believe that happened.

0:08:37 > 0:08:42And of course, two last time out with 34 seconds to go.

0:08:44 > 0:08:45To the end zone.

0:08:45 > 0:08:47Touchdown Pittsburgh!

0:08:47 > 0:08:51Jesse James, two plays, they take in the distance.

0:08:52 > 0:08:56Are they looking at the football, possibly losing control?

0:08:56 > 0:08:58Oh, that's what it is, Jim.

0:08:58 > 0:09:00They don't think he caught it.

0:09:00 > 0:09:02Does he maintain control right here?

0:09:02 > 0:09:03He's got to maintain possession.

0:09:03 > 0:09:05Does that bobble?

0:09:05 > 0:09:08REFEREE:After reviewing the play, the receiver in the end zone

0:09:08 > 0:09:09did not survive the ground.

0:09:09 > 0:09:10It is an incomplete pass.

0:09:10 > 0:09:11Oh, my goodness!

0:09:11 > 0:09:13Unbelievable.

0:09:13 > 0:09:17REFEREE:2nd down and ten at the 10-yard line.

0:09:17 > 0:09:182nd & goal.

0:09:18 > 0:09:20New England is going to come after them.

0:09:20 > 0:09:23They can't, they've got to get out of there, right?

0:09:23 > 0:09:24They are coming.

0:09:24 > 0:09:25I know.

0:09:25 > 0:09:28They are coming, they shake it off, trying to get to the sideline.

0:09:28 > 0:09:30He in play.

0:09:30 > 0:09:33Don't clock it.

0:09:33 > 0:09:35You are going to go ahead and throw it.

0:09:35 > 0:09:38Take your time, snap it with nine or eight seconds.

0:09:38 > 0:09:40He is telling them to fade.

0:09:40 > 0:09:43There he goes, running down the play.

0:09:43 > 0:09:46He fires, and it is intercepted!

0:09:47 > 0:09:50It is intercepted to save the game!

0:09:50 > 0:09:56And the Patriots are going to win it, absolutely amazing.

0:09:56 > 0:09:58You have to throw a fade right there, but it went inside.

0:09:58 > 0:10:00That was Rowe who batted it into the air.

0:10:00 > 0:10:04New England wins it 27-24.

0:10:11 > 0:10:16That was a lot of fun. It goes back and forth, and you play right to the

0:10:16 > 0:10:22end, and the ball bounces in weird ways, I'm glad it bounced our way

0:10:22 > 0:10:29today.We are not going to go back and say anything against anybody, we

0:10:29 > 0:10:35lost a game.Very competitive game, and our guys just kept battling, and

0:10:35 > 0:10:45in the end, we were able to make enough plays to win.You can see how

0:10:45 > 0:10:48his demeanour changes. What a remarkable end to the game. Let's

0:10:48 > 0:10:52just look at this Jesse James catch that wasn't.

0:10:52 > 0:10:56The NFL put out on Twitter this clip with senior VP of officiating

0:10:56 > 0:11:02Al Riveron explaining why it was not a touchdown.

0:11:02 > 0:11:07Hello everyone. I just wanted to review a play that happened in the

0:11:07 > 0:11:12very exciting New England and Pittsburgh game today. As we can see

0:11:12 > 0:11:15here, Roethlisberger completes a Pastor James who is going to ground

0:11:15 > 0:11:19as he reaches the goal-line, and that is the key here. By rule, to

0:11:19 > 0:11:24complete the process of the catch, he must survive the ground, and by

0:11:24 > 0:11:29that we mean he must maintain control of the football. As we see

0:11:29 > 0:11:32her, he does put the ball over the goal line, but once he gets there,

0:11:32 > 0:11:39he loses control of the football and then the ball hits the ground. So

0:11:39 > 0:11:43therefore two things occur. He loses control of the football, and the

0:11:43 > 0:11:47ball touches the ground prior to him regaining control. Therefore the

0:11:47 > 0:11:54ruling on the field of a touchdown was changed to an incomplete pass.

0:11:54 > 0:12:00Thank goodness he put the arrow on to point out where the ball was(!)

0:12:00 > 0:12:06Was that a robot? It sounded like one of those machine voices!

0:12:06 > 0:12:10Joking aside. That wouldn't happen in our football. Decisions don't

0:12:10 > 0:12:13often get its planes to us by the people involved.By the robots

0:12:13 > 0:12:18involved! But that at least opens up to the

0:12:18 > 0:12:22fans and it splendid, so if you are going to complain about what

0:12:22 > 0:12:26happened at the end of that, it is the rule that is the problem. It is

0:12:26 > 0:12:29the rule that is the problem, and there are so many discrepancies as

0:12:29 > 0:12:34to what is a catch, what is the catch, was this a touchdown, was

0:12:34 > 0:12:41this not?Would you just accept it? The rule is clear. It made a tonne

0:12:41 > 0:12:45of sense. Obviously you question, did he break the plane, what

0:12:45 > 0:12:48happened? I think players now need to adjust to that than understand

0:12:48 > 0:12:52what the rules are. Most Head coaches let you know before the

0:12:52 > 0:12:56season, and they need to know in those positions that you make sure

0:12:56 > 0:13:01you maintain the catch. What did you make right at the end of that game,

0:13:01 > 0:13:05Big Ben's fake spike and going for it as opposed to actually spiking it

0:13:05 > 0:13:10and taking the field goal and go into overtime? He had time to throw

0:13:10 > 0:13:15the fade, but the fact that he threw a slant with all those defenders in

0:13:15 > 0:13:20there, and it wasn't Antonio Brown! His guy that bailed him out. So I

0:13:20 > 0:13:23don't understand. So the poor decision is more the choice of throw

0:13:23 > 0:13:28rather than the fake spike? It is throwing it into all that traffic.

0:13:28 > 0:13:34You want to avoid that traffic.Mike Tomlin said we are a team who want

0:13:34 > 0:13:38to go for the win.Especially in a game of this magnitude, you want to

0:13:38 > 0:13:41go for the jugular, have the fortitude to go for the win in a

0:13:41 > 0:13:52situation, and they did it but it didn't work out for them.Let's look

0:13:52 > 0:13:58at the linkup between the players. The double market, can you do that

0:13:58 > 0:14:04with Gronk?This guy is six foot six, 200 and 70lb, athletic and

0:14:04 > 0:14:13fast, here's a match-up nightmare.I don't understand why they didn't

0:14:13 > 0:14:18adjust it and try to do something schematically that changed it,

0:14:18 > 0:14:21because Sean Davis was struggling. So at least try to double-team him

0:14:21 > 0:14:26to see what happens?Give him a different look, because he was

0:14:26 > 0:14:35destroying it.He goes in for that which sets up the two pointer. He

0:14:35 > 0:14:43was virtually alone. That was crazy, they should have put two guys out

0:14:43 > 0:14:48there, but...They can't put two guys out there!They used to do it

0:14:48 > 0:14:53Calvin Johnson! They put two guys out there and took him out of the

0:14:53 > 0:15:02play.He was a receiver, this is a tight end.He is the best dude on

0:15:02 > 0:15:13the field for right now, take it away! That is a fair argument.

0:15:13 > 0:15:14How do you...

0:15:14 > 0:15:16I don't understand how you expect them to...

0:15:16 > 0:15:20He's the best dude on field form right now, he has beaten man to man

0:15:20 > 0:15:21coverage every down, take it away!

0:15:21 > 0:15:22That is a fair argument.

0:15:22 > 0:15:26In a season where we have seen so many injuries to crucial players,

0:15:26 > 0:15:27often MVP candidates, Antonio brown is out,

0:15:27 > 0:15:30he has got five weeks to get fit for the Championship game,

0:15:30 > 0:15:32four weeks for the divisional game.

0:15:32 > 0:15:35That is a tough, tough blow for a team and a guy, Antonio Brown

0:15:35 > 0:15:36who was having an MVP...

0:15:36 > 0:15:38We said last week, didn't we?

0:15:38 > 0:15:39He's a football player, making play after play

0:15:39 > 0:15:42for the Pittsburgh Steelers, I don't know how they will be able

0:15:42 > 0:15:43to recover from this.

0:15:43 > 0:15:45Don't forget, The NFL Show is on Saturday

0:15:45 > 0:15:48after Match Of The Day, where we will take another

0:15:48 > 0:15:51look back at week 15, preview week 16 and all the play-off

0:15:51 > 0:15:53drama that lies ahead, that is all from ten past

0:15:53 > 0:15:54midnight on BBC One.

0:15:54 > 0:15:57A reminder, too, that all of our shows are available on the iPlayer.

0:15:57 > 0:16:00Right, let's take a look at some of the other week 15 games.

0:16:00 > 0:16:03Well, this was one of the standout results of the whole season

0:16:03 > 0:16:05as the Rams overwhelmed their divisional rivals the Seattle

0:16:05 > 0:16:06Seahawks in the NFC West.

0:16:06 > 0:16:10Four touchdowns for Todd Gurley and he is now up to 17 and leads

0:16:10 > 0:16:11the way in the NFL this season.

0:16:11 > 0:16:13Looking like a young Marshall Falk out there.

0:16:13 > 0:16:16That is his fourth touchdown, he took Goff's 14 yard pass

0:16:16 > 0:16:18and Russell Wilson had no chances all day.

0:16:18 > 0:16:21The Rams defence sacked him seven times and Osi will do more.

0:16:21 > 0:16:23Not a surprising amount.

0:16:23 > 0:16:24Not safe!

0:16:24 > 0:16:26In just a moment.

0:16:26 > 0:16:28Big win for the Vikings as they thumped the Bengals,

0:16:28 > 0:16:31thanks mostly to a great defense.

0:16:31 > 0:16:35Eric Kendricks here with a 31 yard interception.

0:16:35 > 0:16:38UCLA boys, right there, Mark, in front of him.

0:16:38 > 0:16:39OK.

0:16:39 > 0:16:41Spot your friends!

0:16:41 > 0:16:42Yeah.

0:16:42 > 0:16:46And this was, Teddy Bridgewater, since coming back in August 2016,

0:16:46 > 0:16:51Case Keenam coming back towards the end of the game.

0:16:51 > 0:16:54So loud he couldn't actually hear the calls in his ear.

0:16:54 > 0:16:56Another big divisional clash, now this is the AFC West,

0:16:56 > 0:16:58the Chargers and the Chiefs.

0:16:58 > 0:17:02Smith got them rolling.

0:17:02 > 0:17:04Tyreek Hill, he can pick them up and put them down, Mark.

0:17:04 > 0:17:0964 yard touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill.

0:17:09 > 0:17:10The Chiefs did not lose.

0:17:10 > 0:17:11Rivers had an awful day.

0:17:11 > 0:17:12Picked three times.

0:17:12 > 0:17:15Watch this though, Tambor Hali, at the end, helping an opponent,

0:17:15 > 0:17:19Joey Bosa, giving him tips.

0:17:19 > 0:17:22That is brilliant.

0:17:22 > 0:17:24That is the fraternity man, we've got to stick

0:17:24 > 0:17:25together, no matter what.

0:17:25 > 0:17:26I love that clip.

0:17:26 > 0:17:27Love it.

0:17:27 > 0:17:29Anyhow, onto the Cowboys and Raiders.

0:17:29 > 0:17:32Dak Prescott running this.

0:17:32 > 0:17:33Making it happen.

0:17:33 > 0:17:35In the third quarter, that made it 17-10.

0:17:35 > 0:17:37Derek Carr found Michael Crabtree to square it to 17 all

0:17:37 > 0:17:39in the fourth quarter.

0:17:39 > 0:17:42This Dan Bailey field goal, the difference, it keeps the playoff

0:17:42 > 0:17:45hopes of the Cowboys still alive and they have Elliott back for

0:17:45 > 0:17:49the clash with Seattle next week.

0:17:49 > 0:17:52Zeke had a six-pack, I saw the picture.

0:17:52 > 0:17:54Let's do the Saints next who beat the Jets to keep up

0:17:54 > 0:17:59the pressure in the NFC.

0:17:59 > 0:18:04He scored in the second quarter to make it 17-7.

0:18:04 > 0:18:07Mark Ingram sealed it in the fourth quarter.

0:18:07 > 0:18:09That was from 50 yards, all going swimmingly.

0:18:09 > 0:18:12Going swimmingly for the Saints.

0:18:12 > 0:18:13I like it.

0:18:13 > 0:18:14That is a good one.

0:18:14 > 0:18:18This was a must win divisional game for Atlanta against Tampa Bay.

0:18:18 > 0:18:20It actually went back and forth, did this.

0:18:20 > 0:18:23The 42 yard pass to Mike Evans made it a 3-point game

0:18:23 > 0:18:28going into the fourth quarter.

0:18:28 > 0:18:29Look at this running game, though.

0:18:29 > 0:18:32Devonta Freeman was immense.

0:18:32 > 0:18:36However, Tampa Bay hung on in there.

0:18:36 > 0:18:39Winston finding Adam Humphreys there.

0:18:39 > 0:18:49But they missed the extra points, Atlanta still in the playoff mix.

0:18:49 > 0:18:51The Los Angeles Rams have the best interior defensive lineman

0:18:51 > 0:18:54in all of football and his name is Aaron Donald.

0:18:54 > 0:18:57I mean, look at that face, he's cuter than a fat baby.

0:18:57 > 0:19:00I just want to pinch his little cheeks.

0:19:00 > 0:19:03Whatever you do, don't make the mistake of pinching this man's

0:19:03 > 0:19:03cheeks, because he is a full grown man and I'm going to

0:19:04 > 0:19:08to pinch his cheeks.

0:19:08 > 0:19:09Check this out.

0:19:09 > 0:19:12This man right here is incredible, he had a field day.

0:19:12 > 0:19:14Now, as the defensive lineman, the offensive linemen are going

0:19:14 > 0:19:17to try and stop your charge, with their hands.

0:19:17 > 0:19:19So when you are rushing a passer, you want to be really

0:19:19 > 0:19:22good with your hands, you want to be able to get

0:19:22 > 0:19:25their hands off you and get to the quarterback and Aaron Donald

0:19:25 > 0:19:27is going to execute this to perfection.

0:19:27 > 0:19:28Check this play out, right here.

0:19:28 > 0:19:30You're going to see the offensive lineman put his hands

0:19:30 > 0:19:33out and Aaron Donald is going to immediately use

0:19:33 > 0:19:35the forklift and get around to the quarterback,

0:19:35 > 0:19:39taking him straight down.

0:19:39 > 0:19:42What an incredible play by Aaron Donald and you guys thought

0:19:42 > 0:19:45the whole time that all we did was chest bump each other,

0:19:45 > 0:19:46chest bump each other.

0:19:46 > 0:19:48We actually have some technique and Aaron Donald showed that.

0:19:48 > 0:19:49Watch this play right here.

0:19:49 > 0:19:51This was an even better play.

0:19:51 > 0:19:54He is going to use the exact same movement but this time

0:19:54 > 0:19:55he is going to come inside.

0:19:55 > 0:19:56Check this out.

0:19:56 > 0:19:59He goes to the inside of the offensive lineman with the sweet

0:19:59 > 0:20:02inside move and right there you are going to see them

0:20:02 > 0:20:03try to double-team him.

0:20:03 > 0:20:07And right here, he is going to do something that very few men can do.

0:20:07 > 0:20:08He is going to get skinny.

0:20:08 > 0:20:13Well, as skinny as a 300 pound man can get, so really not that skinny.

0:20:13 > 0:20:15You turn on the shoulders a little bit, you guys know

0:20:15 > 0:20:21what I'm talking about!

0:20:21 > 0:20:24He is going to turn his shoulders and get to the quarterback and look

0:20:24 > 0:20:27at him chasing up to Russell Wilson, looking like a lion chasing

0:20:27 > 0:20:28a wildebeest in the jungle.

0:20:28 > 0:20:31Getting that man down, another incredible play by Aaron Donald,

0:20:31 > 0:20:34who terrorised the Seattle Seahawks the entire evening and last but not

0:20:34 > 0:20:37least, you're going to see him do something here which I never did.

0:20:37 > 0:20:38Play that run.

0:20:38 > 0:20:41I was so focused at getting to the quarterback, I didn't care

0:20:41 > 0:20:44about the run and this is why Aaron Donald is a much better

0:20:44 > 0:20:46player than I ever was.

0:20:46 > 0:20:47Wow!

0:20:47 > 0:20:49Check him out right here.

0:20:49 > 0:20:51Right here, this is called gap control.

0:20:51 > 0:20:54He is going to maintain his gap, get the offensive lineman in the gap

0:20:54 > 0:20:56and put his body in that hole and right now you're

0:20:56 > 0:20:59going to see him get to the running back early.

0:20:59 > 0:21:01So, it is great to get there early.

0:21:01 > 0:21:02Well, not always.

0:21:02 > 0:21:03Not always.

0:21:03 > 0:21:06But anyway, you guys know what I'm talking about, come on!

0:21:06 > 0:21:07You have put him ahead of you!

0:21:07 > 0:21:09Listen, he's a great football player, man,

0:21:09 > 0:21:12what do you want me to say?

0:21:12 > 0:21:14You know, sometimes you've just got to give credit

0:21:14 > 0:21:15where credit is due, Mark.

0:21:15 > 0:21:18Let me read you a quote from Wade Phillips, Aaron Donald,

0:21:18 > 0:21:20because he is better than everybody, and I didn't know he was

0:21:20 > 0:21:21better than everybody.

0:21:21 > 0:21:25I thought he was good, but I didn't know he was better than everybody

0:21:25 > 0:21:26and he is and that comes from...

0:21:26 > 0:21:27He's expensive...

0:21:27 > 0:21:30A very experienced defensive coach.

0:21:30 > 0:21:31No question.

0:21:31 > 0:21:33And a guy who coached Vaughan Phillips, coached some

0:21:33 > 0:21:36of the best players in football and for him to say that,

0:21:36 > 0:21:39that is lofty praise for Aaron Donald and tells you how

0:21:39 > 0:21:40good he is.

0:21:40 > 0:21:41Given...

0:21:41 > 0:21:44And we've spoken about McVay a lot on the show,

0:21:44 > 0:21:47but given what he has done, remember they were four and 12 last

0:21:47 > 0:21:50season and what they are now, is he a contender for coach

0:21:50 > 0:21:54of the year?

0:21:54 > 0:21:55He has to be.

0:21:55 > 0:21:57He went into an organisation, had a group of players,

0:21:57 > 0:22:00had to figure them out, had to figure out all of their skill

0:22:00 > 0:22:01sets, their strengths.

0:22:01 > 0:22:04Me and Osi talk about that all the time, coaches that can

0:22:04 > 0:22:07figure out how good you are, what things you do well,

0:22:07 > 0:22:09he did that in the offseason, you see the product,

0:22:09 > 0:22:11he deserves all the accolades.

0:22:11 > 0:22:14Not only that, but they are on course to win the AFC West

0:22:14 > 0:22:15for the first time since 2003.

0:22:15 > 0:22:17He is not just turning around a losing record,

0:22:17 > 0:22:19he is turning around a decade of history.

0:22:19 > 0:22:21No question, man, they were perennial seven and nine,

0:22:21 > 0:22:25eight out of eight and this guy has come in there and he

0:22:25 > 0:22:27has got the job done, beyond the expectations of anyone.

0:22:27 > 0:22:30This is an outstanding young coach.

0:22:30 > 0:22:31He is my friend, you know.

0:22:31 > 0:22:34I knew him when you were a young little boy, man,

0:22:34 > 0:22:37and now he is grown-up, I am so proud of him, Mark.

0:22:37 > 0:22:38I am so proud!

0:22:38 > 0:22:40Let's move on to Minnesota and the Vikings.

0:22:40 > 0:22:43We've had a bit of a laugh about Case Keenum over recent weeks,

0:22:43 > 0:22:47but given his performance and I've got my script to say that I can give

0:22:47 > 0:22:50you some stats, 20 of 23 passes, he completed for 236 yards and two

0:22:50 > 0:22:55touchdowns, you know, let's give the guy some credit, yes?

0:22:55 > 0:22:57You've got to give him credit, he is playing in an outstanding

0:22:57 > 0:22:59system that fits him perfectly.

0:22:59 > 0:23:01He is a smart guy, they don't ask him...

0:23:01 > 0:23:03He has been blowing diva.

0:23:03 > 0:23:05I can't even say nothing about Case Keenum.

0:23:05 > 0:23:08I think what is said the most about him, for me,

0:23:08 > 0:23:10just as someone who watches the sport, was his reaction

0:23:10 > 0:23:12to Teddy Bridgewater coming on and, you know, the result,

0:23:12 > 0:23:15the scoreline at Cincinnati, allowed him to rest a bit,

0:23:15 > 0:23:18some of his O line, give Bridgewater a few plays, but his reaction

0:23:18 > 0:23:28was classic, wasn't it?

0:23:28 > 0:23:30That locker room was very close.

0:23:30 > 0:23:32Those guys are very close.

0:23:32 > 0:23:35They really enjoy being around each other and that is what makes

0:23:35 > 0:23:38football so beautiful.

0:23:38 > 0:23:41But that was just about starting to rehabilitate Bridgewater

0:23:41 > 0:23:42after nearly two years out.

0:23:42 > 0:23:45It is not about getting to the playoffs and putting him

0:23:45 > 0:23:49back in ahead of him.

0:23:49 > 0:23:52No, there is no chance of that happening here at all.

0:23:52 > 0:23:54This guy has taken them to the promised land,

0:23:54 > 0:23:56well almost the way through.

0:23:56 > 0:23:58Well, regardless of other results this week, Green Bay simply needed

0:23:58 > 0:24:01to win their game against Carolina to have any hope of staying alive

0:24:01 > 0:24:04in the playoff hunt.

0:24:04 > 0:24:06As is often the case with the Packers, they look

0:24:06 > 0:24:11to quarterback Aaron Rodgers to save the day.

0:24:11 > 0:24:12Eight weeks after collarbone surgery, with 13 screws

0:24:12 > 0:24:15in his shoulder, Rodgers was back on the field, leading the Packers

0:24:15 > 0:24:25at a rampant Carolina Panthers.

0:24:37 > 0:24:3815th play of the drive.

0:24:38 > 0:24:39He finds them.

0:24:39 > 0:24:40McCaffrey.

0:24:40 > 0:24:41Touchdown.

0:24:41 > 0:24:43What a drive for the rookie.

0:24:43 > 0:24:45Kind of a natural pick there by Greg Olsen,

0:24:45 > 0:24:47he releases up the field, and the guy covering,

0:24:47 > 0:24:49Christian McCaffrey out of the backfield on that H post

0:24:49 > 0:24:53route, he could not come down and cover it.

0:24:53 > 0:24:54Easy touchdown.

0:24:54 > 0:24:55Here comes Aaron Rodgers.

0:24:55 > 0:24:58He led the NFL when he went down with a broken right collarbone

0:24:58 > 0:25:00in week six at Minnesota.

0:25:00 > 0:25:03It was on October the 15th where he was hit outside

0:25:03 > 0:25:04the pocket by Anthony Barr.

0:25:04 > 0:25:073rd & 9.

0:25:07 > 0:25:09The defensive coordinator for Carolina, he likes to bring

0:25:09 > 0:25:13pressure, we will see if he brings it on this down.

0:25:13 > 0:25:19Rodgers throws, Adams for the touchdown!

0:25:19 > 0:25:21And for the moment, Davante Adams has more touchdown reception

0:25:21 > 0:25:24since the start of last year than anybody in the NFL

0:25:24 > 0:25:30in a power walking meet.

0:25:30 > 0:25:33This was not power walking here, watch Davante Adams and the move

0:25:33 > 0:25:34that he makes on Kurt Coleman.

0:25:34 > 0:25:38One-on-one on the safety and Coleman was head bobbing, he did not know

0:25:38 > 0:25:39what where they were going to go.

0:25:39 > 0:25:41He takes it to the post.

0:25:41 > 0:25:47Easy touchdown.

0:25:47 > 0:25:49Rodgers steps through.

0:25:49 > 0:25:50Throws.

0:25:50 > 0:25:51Cobb.

0:25:51 > 0:25:57One to one, Randall Cobb, cuts back, what a run, touchdown!

0:25:57 > 0:25:59Aaron Rodgers, he falls on that right shoulder

0:25:59 > 0:26:04after he delivers that football, good to see him get up off the turf.

0:26:04 > 0:26:07He scrambles, he moves up, he goes down and Cobb,

0:26:07 > 0:26:10as he is running that crossing route, they just cut him loose

0:26:10 > 0:26:18and then he makes a heck of a run after the play.

0:26:18 > 0:26:19Newton.

0:26:19 > 0:26:20Let's it fly.

0:26:20 > 0:26:21Olsen.

0:26:21 > 0:26:24A walk-in touchdown.

0:26:24 > 0:26:27They just completely turned Greg Olsen loose.

0:26:27 > 0:26:31You can see, they bring pressure and Cam is able to hang

0:26:31 > 0:26:34in there enough before Brooks gets to him, but there you go.

0:26:34 > 0:26:382nd & 10.

0:26:38 > 0:26:43Rodgers down the middle, intercepted by Colin Jones.

0:26:43 > 0:26:45Second interception by Rodgers in the game, but a flag

0:26:45 > 0:26:48at the end of the play.

0:26:48 > 0:26:51A big hit then on Davante Adams at the end of this play

0:26:51 > 0:26:57and that is Thomas Davies.

0:26:57 > 0:27:00That is not what we want to see and it is obviously their hit

0:27:00 > 0:27:03that they have been trying to take it out of the game.

0:27:03 > 0:27:05Let us hope that he is OK.

0:27:05 > 0:27:07A lot of people attending to him right now.

0:27:07 > 0:27:10Thank God he is able to get up and walk off the field.

0:27:10 > 0:27:11Personal foul.

0:27:11 > 0:27:12Blindside block.

0:27:12 > 0:27:13Intercepting team, number 58.

0:27:13 > 0:27:15That is a 15-yard penalty.

0:27:15 > 0:27:16Panthers ball.

0:27:16 > 0:27:19First and ten.

0:27:19 > 0:27:20Newton keeps.

0:27:20 > 0:27:21He was looking for Olsen.

0:27:21 > 0:27:22That wasn't there.

0:27:22 > 0:27:27Now throws to the back.

0:27:27 > 0:27:28There it is juggled and incomplete.

0:27:28 > 0:27:30Byrd.

0:27:30 > 0:27:31I don't think this is a touchdown.

0:27:31 > 0:27:32The ball is out.

0:27:32 > 0:27:36Now he really grabs it and when he's secure it is going to the line,

0:27:36 > 0:27:38going to the ground, he is on the boundary.

0:27:38 > 0:27:42I don't think there is any question, this will be when Ron Riviera

0:27:42 > 0:27:46is going to have to listen to the guy helping him upstairs.

0:27:46 > 0:27:48There is a ruling on the field of an incomplete pass.

0:27:48 > 0:27:51Yeah, I don't know, unless we're not seeing something,

0:27:51 > 0:27:54but it looks like an easy one to me, Joe.

0:27:54 > 0:27:56After review, the runner was down by contact,

0:27:56 > 0:27:58in the end zone, it is a touchdown.

0:27:58 > 0:27:59Wow!

0:27:59 > 0:28:05We are wrong, Rivera is right.

0:28:05 > 0:28:08On 1st down, Newton keeps, Byrd, touchdown!

0:28:08 > 0:28:10His second.

0:28:10 > 0:28:13You see Byrd as he pushes up on the quick post

0:28:13 > 0:28:15and that is easy pickings there, outside leverage, good corner,

0:28:15 > 0:28:21good coverage by Newton.

0:28:21 > 0:28:26Rodgers down the middle, Rodgers, touchdown!

0:28:26 > 0:28:29Rodgers throws, passes, the ball is out.

0:28:29 > 0:28:35And Carolina has got it and it is a catch and fumble.

0:28:35 > 0:28:37Carolina Panthers takeover.

0:28:37 > 0:28:40He runs a heck of a route, but did he have possession and did

0:28:40 > 0:28:43he make another football move?

0:28:43 > 0:28:48It is close, it is about on that second step.

0:28:48 > 0:28:49First and down, Carolina.

0:28:49 > 0:28:53So the call is catch and fumble and that is going to be it.

0:28:53 > 0:28:55No time-outs left for Green Bay.

0:28:55 > 0:28:57It is disappointing for all the Packers fans,

0:28:57 > 0:29:00to get to this position, get Aaron Rodgers back on the field,

0:29:00 > 0:29:06only to lose in the first outing.

0:29:06 > 0:29:08Nothing should get in the way of what our ultimate goal

0:29:08 > 0:29:10is and we know what that is.

0:29:10 > 0:29:12We talked about the vision when we first got started.

0:29:12 > 0:29:16It is to win the Super Bowl and that is the bottom line.

0:29:16 > 0:29:18More than anything else it is about what we intend to do.

0:29:18 > 0:29:20Everything we do will be about that.

0:29:20 > 0:29:23Well, it is not the fairy tale that we were hoping.

0:29:23 > 0:29:25As I lay in that surgery bed, eight weeks ago,

0:29:25 > 0:29:27thinking about this moment, I obviously saw it going

0:29:27 > 0:29:30a little differently, but I am proud of our guys,

0:29:30 > 0:29:32the way they played in the last few weeks.

0:29:32 > 0:29:34Today, I was disappointed, I did not play very well.

0:29:34 > 0:29:38I expected to play well, it was good defense.

0:29:38 > 0:29:41But I made too many mistakes and even still, we had a chance

0:29:41 > 0:29:44there at the end to come back.

0:29:44 > 0:29:48I thought he did a lot of good things, I thought he competed,

0:29:48 > 0:29:49just like he always does.

0:29:49 > 0:29:51Obviously, when you look at the start line, I think

0:29:51 > 0:29:53stating the obvious, it is hard to overcome

0:29:53 > 0:29:54being -4 in a game.

0:30:01 > 0:30:01the field for right now, take it away! That is a fair argument.

0:30:01 > 0:30:01the field for right now, take it away! That is a fair argument.

0:30:01 > 0:30:04the field for right now, take it away! That is a fair argument.

0:30:04 > 0:30:15I felt pretty good, I just missed some throws. I threw the ball in the

0:30:15 > 0:30:24dirt. To Geronimo in the red zone, just uncharacteristic play in Macon

0:30:24 > 0:30:26and I was disappointed in my performance today, I didn't play

0:30:26 > 0:30:27very well.

0:30:31 > 0:30:37And that result coupled with Atlanta beating Tampa Bay means that that is

0:30:37 > 0:30:40the end of their season, you would expect them to let Aaron Rodgers

0:30:40 > 0:30:44rest for the rest of the season. And you would expect Davante Adams to

0:30:44 > 0:30:48take a while to come back from this, because this hit from Thomas Davis

0:30:48 > 0:30:50was horrific, wasn't it?

0:30:54 > 0:30:58That was not good, and as a player, they are trying to eliminate this

0:30:58 > 0:31:03from the game. A guy like Thomas Davis should be totally aware of

0:31:03 > 0:31:08this, this is unacceptable and not how we protect players. This makes

0:31:08 > 0:31:12me so angry, because what's the point? There is no point in doing

0:31:12 > 0:31:17that to the guy you are playing against. He is supposed to be a man

0:31:17 > 0:31:20of the year contender, and he knows better than to do stuff like this.

0:31:20 > 0:31:25They should have thrown him out of the game on the spot.He has been

0:31:25 > 0:31:30banned for two games by the NFL, and he expressed his regret doing that

0:31:30 > 0:31:36afterwards. Davante Adams on social media, he said, we got pro bowl

0:31:36 > 0:31:40players out here headhunting in saying that they didn't mean to harm

0:31:40 > 0:31:45me. Somebody please explain to me what I wasn't trying to hurt him

0:31:45 > 0:31:49means when, nowhere near the play, it you lead with your head and ear

0:31:49 > 0:31:52hole a defenceless player?

0:31:52 > 0:31:55it you lead with your head and ear hole a defenceless player? It is

0:31:55 > 0:31:58just stupidity, man. You know the repercussions, you know what is

0:31:58 > 0:32:03happening, stop it.There was a great bit in the game, which

0:32:03 > 0:32:06unfortunately you can't hear properly on the TV, you might be a

0:32:06 > 0:32:10book to find it on social media, where Clay Matthews tells the rest

0:32:10 > 0:32:16of the pack, this is the wheelwright, and they said, have you

0:32:16 > 0:32:21been watching our film, watch this! And proceeds to do the play and

0:32:21 > 0:32:25score a touchdown from it. The confidence of the man!Yes, he

0:32:25 > 0:32:35thought it was the real root, incredible play. The NFC South, how

0:32:35 > 0:32:42do you view this? Still a 3-way battle for it, and they all have

0:32:42 > 0:32:47divisional games in the next two weeks.I am looking at the Panthers

0:32:47 > 0:32:51right now and thinking, scary. As Cam Newton goes, they go, he is

0:32:51 > 0:32:54playing with confidence and that defense under Steve Wilkes is

0:32:54 > 0:33:00getting after people. But the same thing you just said about Carolina,

0:33:00 > 0:33:05I'm saying about Atlanta and New Orleans, they are scary. No one

0:33:05 > 0:33:09wants to play any one of those teams Rina!Atlanta have both New Orleans

0:33:09 > 0:33:16and Carolina to play. Carolina and New Orleans both have to play Tampa

0:33:16 > 0:33:22Bay. Do they have any say in this? They did OK against Atlanta, so

0:33:22 > 0:33:26divisional games, they will raise it a bit?Divisional games are always

0:33:26 > 0:33:29tough, you go in and play each other, you have seen each other

0:33:29 > 0:33:33before and that gives you the advantage. So the Bucs can still

0:33:33 > 0:33:40affected?They have talent and will go up against it every week they

0:33:40 > 0:33:44play.Let's have a look at some of the other week 15 games.

0:33:48 > 0:33:57The Lions faced the Bears in Detroit. This long pass was followed

0:33:57 > 0:34:04by this TJ Jones touchdown moments later. This eight yard catch sealed

0:34:04 > 0:34:11it, the Lions are still in the NFC wild card hunt. Another impressive

0:34:11 > 0:34:15performance came from Jacksonville. They were 31-0 up at half-time

0:34:15 > 0:34:23against the Texans, this 14 yard pass the pick of those scores.

0:34:23 > 0:34:29DeAndre Hopkins scored consolation touchdown, Jacksonville through to

0:34:29 > 0:34:36the postseason for the first time since 2007. The Titans and the

0:34:36 > 0:34:4249ers, Garrett Celek got his second quarter touchdown for the 49ers, and

0:34:42 > 0:34:48that made it 13-3, but Delaney Walker struck back from four yards,

0:34:48 > 0:34:52and Tennessee stayed in touch with this game with that. Robbie Gould

0:34:52 > 0:34:56kicked the winner late on, and that will really hamper the Titans'

0:34:56 > 0:35:04playoff chances. We went to golf tournaments together, we had a good

0:35:04 > 0:35:11time.Is that an on-air story or not?He is his friend!Completely

0:35:11 > 0:35:16off air story. We are not mentioning Cleveland, and that is not fair. We

0:35:16 > 0:35:21missed their touchdown because of you in your golf stories! This is

0:35:21 > 0:35:27what Joe Flacco was doing, 17-10 up, the Ravens were, Q classic

0:35:27 > 0:35:36Cleveland. To Sean Kyzer fumbled in the end zone, also at eight and six

0:35:36 > 0:35:41are Buffalo after they beat Jay Cutler's Miami Dolphins. LaShawn

0:35:41 > 0:35:45Merritt scored two touchdowns, he has now gone over 10,000 yards in

0:35:45 > 0:35:54his career.Nice catch.And some prime Cutler. Three interceptions,

0:35:54 > 0:36:02the final one to White. But Buffalo still in the playoff

0:36:02 > 0:36:04the final one to White. But Buffalo still in the playoff hunt.

0:36:04 > 0:36:06Jacksonville securing the playoff spot

0:36:06 > 0:36:08Jacksonville securing the playoff spot for the first time since 2007.

0:36:08 > 0:36:15Let's just show you linebacker Smith showing you what it meant to his

0:36:15 > 0:36:20team-mates.We dominated the team, and they dominated us a couple of

0:36:20 > 0:36:32years ago. You understand? New era! Let's keep going! One, two, three!

0:36:38 > 0:36:42I didn't understand what he was talking about.I felt it.We

0:36:42 > 0:36:46mentioned it last week, and it came through a little bit, this feeling

0:36:46 > 0:36:51of us against the world that is going on at the Jaguars. They don't

0:36:51 > 0:36:54feel they're getting respect from the NFL media. They feel they've got

0:36:54 > 0:36:58the history of the franchise on their backs as well, huge franchise

0:36:58 > 0:37:04they haven't got the history of some of the big teams, and they are being

0:37:04 > 0:37:09ignored.They are not being ignored any more! But they are playing on

0:37:09 > 0:37:15that.It is like you said before, whose name is all over that? Those

0:37:15 > 0:37:19boys are tough now, and it is that defense is just making it happen.

0:37:19 > 0:37:27They are out there playing like crazy, and you had better be good on

0:37:27 > 0:37:32each level. They have all of those, and Smith earlier, he is a madman in

0:37:32 > 0:37:40the rush. And Blake portals in December has the best pass rate.I

0:37:40 > 0:37:44am not going to beat my chest, but he is coming through. He is coming

0:37:44 > 0:37:49through.And nobody is talking about the receivers he is playing with.

0:37:49 > 0:37:54These guys are really stepping up and playing well. A great receiver

0:37:54 > 0:37:59coaching those guys.And you can see his influence?Absolutely, because

0:37:59 > 0:38:02he was a great receiver and ran really precise routes because I had

0:38:02 > 0:38:08to cover him and I couldn't!Do think New England and Pittsburgh

0:38:08 > 0:38:12will be concerned at all about Jacksonville?Neither one of them

0:38:12 > 0:38:15want to play against Jacksonville Jaguars at that is because of the

0:38:15 > 0:38:19way the Jaguars are built, they can rush the passing, defend the run. We

0:38:19 > 0:38:26have monsters upfront to be able to get after the quarterback, and it is

0:38:26 > 0:38:29an outstanding defensive team. You don't want to play them right now.

0:38:29 > 0:38:33Just a little nod to the future, because this game also affected

0:38:33 > 0:38:37Tennessee Titans, who were in Jacksonville's division, and it has

0:38:37 > 0:38:41knocked them down a bit. San Francisco have got something going,

0:38:41 > 0:38:47haven't they? If we were to look ahead to next season already which

0:38:47 > 0:38:51we are not supposed to do at this stage, they are going to be an

0:38:51 > 0:38:58exciting team to watch. Now that you have plugged Jimmy GNN, these guys

0:38:58 > 0:39:02have confidence, they feel like they can do anything, win games, they

0:39:02 > 0:39:06have their quarterback. There is a rumour going down the NFL that the

0:39:06 > 0:39:09Patriots wanted to look after Jimmy Garoppolo and therefore didn't want

0:39:09 > 0:39:13to treat into Cleveland, so when Cleveland were interested, they

0:39:13 > 0:39:21phoned up the 49ers and asked him. Does that sound believable?I think

0:39:21 > 0:39:24Belichick has a problem with the Cleveland Browns, but I don't like

0:39:24 > 0:39:31the way the New England Patriots treated this whole situation.

0:39:31 > 0:39:34Regardless of how they treated Tom Brady, Jimmy Garoppolo and every

0:39:34 > 0:39:38thing came right together for them. As Osi would tell you, the next game

0:39:38 > 0:39:43we are going to see is one of pure hatred. Despite only winning two

0:39:43 > 0:39:49games this season, the New York Giants needs no motivation to put

0:39:49 > 0:39:54their opponents in their place. In their first game without Carson

0:39:54 > 0:40:03Wentz, the focus was on Nick Foles to continue their season.

0:40:03 > 0:40:09COMMENTATOR: And he falls into the end zone, touchdown first time. The

0:40:09 > 0:40:18Giants have come up on the first possession of the game. Foles came

0:40:18 > 0:40:25over as a free agent from Kansas City, you know the story. He started

0:40:25 > 0:40:3024 regular-season games, and was a start of the last time Philadelphia

0:40:30 > 0:40:40went to the playoffs in 2013 and he had a great year. 2nd down. At the

0:40:40 > 0:40:48back of the end zone, that is a Philadelphia touchdown for Geoffrey.

0:40:48 > 0:40:58He goes four for four on the drive. If you watch Jeffrey, and on target,

0:40:58 > 0:41:05and in rhythm, and you can see see why he has won 20 ball games at the

0:41:05 > 0:41:12start of this level.And that is a touchdown for King.That is a

0:41:12 > 0:41:32complete setup and a starting route. He took advantage.3rd & 2. And now

0:41:32 > 0:41:40they are looking to make it five out of five. He is still on his feet,

0:41:40 > 0:41:46and down the sideline he goes for a third touchdown.Poor tackling in

0:41:46 > 0:41:50the secondary once again, and the Giants take the lead.2nd & goal

0:41:50 > 0:42:00from the 10-yard line. It is coming again, and that is a touchdown.Nice

0:42:00 > 0:42:06double move by Zak hurts, he uses his big body to come here and come

0:42:06 > 0:42:12back in, and his defender he has told to box out, he boxes out Adams.

0:42:12 > 0:42:21Good job, taking advantage.Slowing down, and Manning scrambled around.

0:42:21 > 0:42:27They are going to get the ball... They nearly got it the last time,

0:42:27 > 0:42:35and this time they get it. He'll came up with the block. The got one

0:42:35 > 0:42:40block last week, so they are going to try again. He is going to sneak

0:42:40 > 0:42:46through this gap on, long unprotected. And that is a free run

0:42:46 > 0:42:52to the punter, and look at him taking it right off the foot. Hands

0:42:52 > 0:42:55at waist level, beautiful job, and special teams are now stepping up

0:42:55 > 0:43:04for the Eagles, everyone is getting involved.Outside the 9-yard line.

0:43:04 > 0:43:14It is thrown wide open in the end zone, and indeed, warm by the fire.

0:43:14 > 0:43:19The Philadelphia Eagles offense, the highest scoring team.Nothing kills

0:43:19 > 0:43:23the defense like a lack of communication. Right here between

0:43:23 > 0:43:30these two guys, nobody is communicating. You see that, and it

0:43:30 > 0:43:39is easy pickings. That will kill a team every single time. And now

0:43:39 > 0:43:43looking to the corner of the end zone, and that is a touchdown for

0:43:43 > 0:43:51Philadelphia. Four touchdown s the Nick Foles.He is recognising that

0:43:51 > 0:43:55the back is turned by Daryl Moss, throw that ball up, tee times it

0:43:55 > 0:44:01perfectly going to catch it off the back of number 23.The Eagles came

0:44:01 > 0:44:09back to take a lead. This is inside the 20, the ten, and King dives, did

0:44:09 > 0:44:17he get to the end zone? No, he was just outside. Now they say

0:44:17 > 0:44:23touchdown.You can see right here, a good job of letting him have it

0:44:23 > 0:44:28heats, he takes off and I think that is a touchdown. He crossed the plane

0:44:28 > 0:44:35with the football. REFEREE:The call stands, touchdown.

0:44:35 > 0:44:41This will be a 48 yard field goal try. They have had a play after

0:44:41 > 0:44:47block, and now a field goal block. Make him run outside. He is late

0:44:47 > 0:44:51with his left hand, Malcolm Jenkins jumps over that, avoids any dripping

0:44:51 > 0:44:56with his feet gets in there to block the field goal.

0:44:56 > 0:44:59Jake Elliott added a field goal in the next Eagles possession.

0:44:59 > 0:45:01They lead by five with under four minutes left.

0:45:01 > 0:45:02And it is 4th down and goal.

0:45:02 > 0:45:04At the goal-line.

0:45:04 > 0:45:06They break for the rush.

0:45:06 > 0:45:16And Manning to the end zone.

0:45:19 > 0:45:22Complete with an eye on Ingram with an eye on the flag

0:45:22 > 0:45:24and the Philadelphia Eagles win their 12th game of the year.

0:45:24 > 0:45:27Carson probably reached out to all of his players

0:45:27 > 0:45:27If

0:45:27 > 0:45:29and offensively probably wished them well, but there was no...

0:45:29 > 0:45:30I keep pace sheds

0:45:30 > 0:45:32If I keep paceand offensively probably wished

0:45:32 > 0:45:33them well, but there was no...

0:45:33 > 0:45:35They spent the whole week with Nick...

0:45:35 > 0:45:37There might have been a little bit of that,

0:45:37 > 0:45:41how are we going to play, you know, what is going to happen

0:45:41 > 0:45:44to start the game, but we just went right down the field and Nick had

0:45:44 > 0:45:46the hot hand early and maintained it throughout the game.

0:45:46 > 0:45:49Really, I think, this was a great win for the team,

0:45:49 > 0:45:52but for Nick as well and for the guys.

0:45:52 > 0:45:55You get the butterflies, for sure.

0:45:55 > 0:45:58I think any game you ever play in, you get that excitement,

0:45:58 > 0:46:00because it is a big stage, there is a lot going on,

0:46:00 > 0:46:03but once you get onto the field, you just play ball.

0:46:03 > 0:46:06You live in the moment.

0:46:06 > 0:46:09There is just something that comes out of you and you just go out

0:46:09 > 0:46:11there and just play.

0:46:11 > 0:46:14They already have the division one, they have now got the bye week,

0:46:14 > 0:46:16but as Doug Pedersen said, arguably, that is a more

0:46:16 > 0:46:21important win for Nick Foles than it is for the Eagles.

0:46:21 > 0:46:25Yeah, he had to get out there and he had to get comfortable

0:46:25 > 0:46:26and he looked comfortable, especially when he had

0:46:26 > 0:46:27a clean pocket.

0:46:27 > 0:46:30He was protected and able to step up there and throw

0:46:30 > 0:46:32and he made that throw, struggled a little bit

0:46:32 > 0:46:35with the outside throws, but hey, ultimately you cannot do throwing

0:46:35 > 0:46:37the ball in the middle of the field.

0:46:37 > 0:46:40Like you were talking about earlier, man, he actually had to go

0:46:40 > 0:46:42in there and win the game.

0:46:42 > 0:46:43For them.

0:46:43 > 0:46:46It is not like, he was just going to be loose, he had to go

0:46:46 > 0:46:49in there and win and he made throw after throw and the receivers

0:46:49 > 0:46:52came up big for him, making all these incredible catches.

0:46:52 > 0:46:53They are going to be OK.

0:46:53 > 0:46:55Yes, it just calms everything down, doesn't it.

0:46:55 > 0:46:58It prevents a media storm, it stops the doubts of fans,

0:46:58 > 0:46:59it just relaxes everybody.

0:46:59 > 0:47:01Like everybody was saying, it is a good team,

0:47:01 > 0:47:02it is a good quarterback.

0:47:02 > 0:47:07Would there be any concern about the Eagles defense after that game?

0:47:07 > 0:47:10They gave up the points that they did and in fact,

0:47:10 > 0:47:14their worst performances defensively wise have come against the Giants.

0:47:14 > 0:47:16Mark, divisional rivals, I keep on telling you,

0:47:16 > 0:47:19these games you can throw everything, throw all the records

0:47:19 > 0:47:21out, throw everything out of the window, these two teams know

0:47:21 > 0:47:23each other, they know their strengths, their weaknesses

0:47:23 > 0:47:26and they were able to exploit them because they know them.

0:47:26 > 0:47:29So throw out the form book, throw out the fact that the Giants

0:47:29 > 0:47:31have been dreadful offensively, the Eagles have been

0:47:31 > 0:47:33so strong defensively, you can simply put it down

0:47:33 > 0:47:38to a divisional match up.

0:47:38 > 0:47:41Yeah, and they attacked the middle of the field, so they knew

0:47:41 > 0:47:43there was a weakness there.

0:47:43 > 0:47:47I think a team with a good tight end can expose them.

0:47:47 > 0:47:49There were a lot of passes happening that seemed like communication

0:47:49 > 0:47:51with the linebackers and the defensive backs.

0:47:51 > 0:47:54There could be some other teams looking at that.

0:47:54 > 0:47:55That is what I saw.

0:47:55 > 0:47:58You saw a big play on the outside, but ultimately it was everything

0:47:58 > 0:47:59happening in the middle of the field.

0:47:59 > 0:48:02OK, let's take a look at the standings then for you before

0:48:02 > 0:48:03we leave you this evening.

0:48:03 > 0:48:06As you can see, there is the AFC, New England, Pittsburgh

0:48:06 > 0:48:08have won their division, Jacksonville can still

0:48:08 > 0:48:09make the playoffs.

0:48:09 > 0:48:12The Titans can still mathematically win the AFC South and Kansas City's

0:48:12 > 0:48:15win over the Los Angeles Chargers has just given them

0:48:15 > 0:48:19the edge in the AFC West.

0:48:19 > 0:48:22As far as the NFC East is concerned, Dallas still have the chance

0:48:22 > 0:48:25of the playoffs, in the north, Minnesota, the divisional winners,

0:48:25 > 0:48:27Detroit still in the running there as well, the NFC South

0:48:27 > 0:48:31is all to play for, as we discussed the Rams now still have a 98% chance

0:48:31 > 0:48:33of winning the NFC West.

0:48:33 > 0:48:35Who works these things out?

0:48:35 > 0:48:37In the AFC, the playoff picture is as follows,

0:48:37 > 0:48:40New England's last-gasp win that put them back as the number one seed

0:48:40 > 0:48:43by virtue of a better head-to-head record over Pittsburgh,

0:48:43 > 0:48:44Jacksonville are now confirmed in the playoffs

0:48:44 > 0:48:47as we have mentioned, but there is still an awful lot

0:48:47 > 0:48:48to play for behind them.

0:48:48 > 0:48:50In the NFC, Philadelphia as they say, they still get

0:48:50 > 0:48:53a first-round bye in the playoffs, Dallas remain very much alive

0:48:53 > 0:48:56in the AFC wild card race, at eight and six, the Cowboys face

0:48:56 > 0:49:00also the eight and six Seahawks in week 16, a do or die game.

0:49:00 > 0:49:02And three teams from the South are still in the playoff picture.

0:49:02 > 0:49:05A reminder that we have the NFL show again this Saturday,

0:49:05 > 0:49:08from ten past midnight on BBC One after match of the day.

0:49:08 > 0:49:15You can also catch everything on the iPlayer.

0:49:15 > 0:49:17Sadly, Bill Belichick was not available to sing us out tonight

0:49:17 > 0:49:20with a Christmas Carol, which is probably a good thing

0:49:20 > 0:49:21as we are out of time.

0:49:21 > 0:49:29Good night.

0:49:29 > 0:49:32His collarbone was not fully healed, but out he came.

0:49:32 > 0:49:34Not quite at his best, but the playoffs push

0:49:34 > 0:49:35you through the pain barrier.

0:49:35 > 0:49:38Two weeks to go, it is the season to be merry

0:49:38 > 0:49:40unless you have a playoff place to secure.

0:49:40 > 0:49:50Only in the NFL at Christmas.
