0:00:05 > 0:00:07And it will be time for these two teams to settle it
0:00:07 > 0:00:09between the white lines...
0:00:09 > 0:00:12He's going to fire it towards the end zone.
0:00:12 > 0:00:15Montana throws!
0:00:15 > 0:00:20Looking downfield, going deep...
0:00:20 > 0:00:22The one-man wrecking crew!
0:00:22 > 0:00:25Unbelievable!
0:00:25 > 0:00:30How did he do that?
0:00:30 > 0:00:31Let's go!
0:00:31 > 0:00:32For the win!
0:00:32 > 0:00:38Unstoppable!
0:00:38 > 0:00:41Fasten your seat belts, it's playoff time!
0:00:41 > 0:00:43The short sharp incline of the postseason.
0:00:43 > 0:00:48Ode to Minnesota, the pathway to Super Bowl LII.
0:00:48 > 0:00:50The straight knockout of the playoffs, no second chances
0:00:50 > 0:00:55here, every game that piece of stand-alone theatre.
0:00:55 > 0:00:57He just kicked the Giants to the Super Bowl.
0:00:57 > 0:01:03With that big defensive hit.
0:01:03 > 0:01:04Into the end zone.
0:01:04 > 0:01:05Touchdown!
0:01:05 > 0:01:06Everybody gets it.
0:01:06 > 0:01:08Everybody wants a piece of it.
0:01:08 > 0:01:10And in this theatre, one moment may make history,
0:01:10 > 0:01:16one touch that sets a team on a course, the Steelers.
0:01:16 > 0:01:17Back goes Bradshaw.
0:01:17 > 0:01:19He is looking.
0:01:19 > 0:01:23The most decorated of all the teams in the NFL.
0:01:23 > 0:01:25Touchdown!
0:01:25 > 0:01:29One touch, from one pass that promises so little.
0:01:29 > 0:01:35And to this, Clarence Davies.
0:01:35 > 0:01:36Unbelievable!
0:01:36 > 0:01:39Nerves and dreams are shredded and in the mayhem, there
0:01:39 > 0:01:41will be a lack of reason.
0:01:41 > 0:01:45A certain strangeness can take over.
0:01:45 > 0:01:47The Eagles and the players are playing football.
0:01:47 > 0:01:50I love it, it is dramatic, you cannot even see the BLEEP!
0:01:50 > 0:01:51ball!
0:01:51 > 0:01:55To stay calm in the cauldron, to think, to plot.
0:01:55 > 0:01:56He is being chased.
0:01:56 > 0:01:57Gets away.
0:01:57 > 0:01:59Stays on his feet.
0:01:59 > 0:02:04Sometimes the prize is to enjoy a little luck.
0:02:04 > 0:02:12The quarterbacks are going forward.
0:02:17 > 0:02:20And sometimes to be calm at just the right moment deserts you.
0:02:20 > 0:02:22He goes back to pass, intercepted, I cannot believe
0:02:22 > 0:02:24what I am seeing right now.
0:02:24 > 0:02:25And these great theatres become lonely places.
0:02:25 > 0:02:28For those that make the stage, this is what makes them.
0:02:28 > 0:02:30This ugly ass face!
0:02:30 > 0:02:33This is where they will be remembered.
0:02:33 > 0:02:34It is picked off.
0:02:34 > 0:02:35Ray Lewis has the ball.
0:02:35 > 0:02:36Touchdown, Ray Lewis!
0:02:36 > 0:02:38These are the experiences.
0:02:38 > 0:02:40Owens made the catch.
0:02:40 > 0:02:42This is amazing!
0:02:42 > 0:02:44The events that fuelled them.
0:02:44 > 0:02:45Incredible.
0:02:45 > 0:02:47What a comeback by the Bills!
0:02:47 > 0:02:50To rule here and to want more.
0:02:50 > 0:02:51Let's go, baby!
0:02:51 > 0:02:53Lets go home!
0:02:53 > 0:03:00Or to have been inspired by this.
0:03:00 > 0:03:05And who will now want to make their mark.
0:03:05 > 0:03:07Our turn now.
0:03:07 > 0:03:11Gourley at the goal line, touchdown now.
0:03:11 > 0:03:17The turn of the year, the launch of the playoffs.
0:03:17 > 0:03:18It is pandemonium.
0:03:18 > 0:03:19Do not...
0:03:19 > 0:03:20It is pandemonium!
0:03:20 > 0:03:22Move.
0:03:22 > 0:03:29Fantastic.
0:03:29 > 0:03:31So our 12 teams are locked in for the playoffs.
0:03:31 > 0:03:33With 11 Super Bowls between them, New England and Pittsburgh
0:03:33 > 0:03:36await their opponents in next week's divisional round as eight teams take
0:03:36 > 0:03:40part in the 'Wild Card' weekend.
0:03:40 > 0:03:43Making their first playoff appearance in 18 years are the 6th
0:03:43 > 0:03:45seeded Buffalo Bills.
0:03:45 > 0:03:47They head to Jacksonville, who host a playoff game
0:03:47 > 0:03:50for the first time in 18 years.
0:03:50 > 0:03:51In the other game 5th seeded Tennessee head
0:03:51 > 0:03:55to 4th seeded Kansas City.
0:03:55 > 0:03:57New England will face the lowest seeded team to come out
0:03:57 > 0:03:58of the weekend in Foxborough.
0:03:58 > 0:04:00First and second seeds Philadelphia and Minnesota
0:04:00 > 0:04:03await their NFC match-ups.
0:04:03 > 0:04:05Last year's Super Bowl losers Atlanta have another crack
0:04:05 > 0:04:09at redemption starting with a trip to the Los Angeles Rams.
0:04:09 > 0:04:12And in the other game a repeat of an NFC South rivalry
0:04:12 > 0:04:17with Carolina heading to 4th seeded New Orleans.
0:04:17 > 0:04:21Hello, so the regular season is now behind us and we're now
0:04:21 > 0:04:26in the business of talking about the playoffs.
0:04:26 > 0:04:28Playoffs?
0:04:28 > 0:04:29Don't talk about...
0:04:29 > 0:04:30Playoffs?
0:04:30 > 0:04:31You kidding me?
0:04:31 > 0:04:32Playoffs?
0:04:32 > 0:04:33We're certainly not kidding you, Jim Mora!
0:04:33 > 0:04:36Joining me to talk playoffs, it is our two-time Super Bowl winner
0:04:36 > 0:04:41Osi Umenyiora and former NFL cornerback Jason Bell.
0:04:41 > 0:04:44And we start the action with Carolina in New Orleans.
0:04:44 > 0:04:46With Cam Newton orchestrating plays, the Panthers have started
0:04:46 > 0:04:49to resemble the team that went to Super Bowl 50.
0:04:49 > 0:04:52In the playoffs you don't get easy games - sadly there's no longer
0:04:52 > 0:04:55Cleveland on the schedule - so if the Panthers are to leave
0:04:55 > 0:04:58the Superdome with victory, then they'll have to shutdown
0:04:58 > 0:05:00running back sensation Alvin Kamara, and the pin-point accuracy
0:05:00 > 0:05:08of quarterback Drew Brees. Graham Gano had a chance to open
0:05:10 > 0:05:13the scoring for the Panthers from 25 yards late in the first quarter,
0:05:13 > 0:05:20but he went wide and it was only his second miss of the season.
0:05:20 > 0:05:23Now second and ten for New Orleans.
0:05:23 > 0:05:24Down the middle.
0:05:24 > 0:05:25Deep.
0:05:25 > 0:05:26Caught.
0:05:26 > 0:05:28Inside the 30.
0:05:28 > 0:05:29The former Panther.
0:05:29 > 0:05:34Touchdown, New Orleans.
0:05:34 > 0:05:37Here is Kirk Coleman, you are going to see, he levels out.
0:05:37 > 0:05:40Michael Thomas, he is running a square in and that leaves a gap
0:05:40 > 0:05:43down the middle and Bradbury is never able to fold underneath it.
0:05:43 > 0:05:46They bring a five-man pressure and it is just the breaks at that
0:05:46 > 0:05:53point and like I said, you are not going to catch Junior.
0:05:53 > 0:05:55Graham Gano did go over from 27 yards to bring the Panthers
0:05:55 > 0:06:03to within four points early in the second quarter.
0:06:04 > 0:06:05Drew Brees.
0:06:05 > 0:06:06End zone.
0:06:06 > 0:06:07Open, touchdown.
0:06:07 > 0:06:09Hill.
0:06:09 > 0:06:10Simply a break in coverage.
0:06:10 > 0:06:12They bring both these guys here off the edge.
0:06:12 > 0:06:15Nobody then accounts for Josh Hill.
0:06:15 > 0:06:19And he is wide open for the touchdown.
0:06:19 > 0:06:21Graham Gano was keeping the P anthers in the game.
0:06:21 > 0:06:29His field goal left them trailing 14-6.
0:06:29 > 0:06:32Pass is caught.
0:06:32 > 0:06:40Diving, down to the one, is Michael Thomas.
0:06:43 > 0:06:45Hand off is to Zac Lyon.
0:06:45 > 0:06:46For the touchdown.
0:06:46 > 0:06:49Graham Gano kicked a playoff record 58 yard field goal to leave Carolina
0:06:49 > 0:06:54trailing 21-9 going into half-time.
0:06:54 > 0:06:56Early in the third quarter, the Panthers again had to settle
0:06:56 > 0:06:59for a field goal from Graham Gano, which was soon cancelled out
0:06:59 > 0:07:03by Will Love's 57 yards.
0:07:03 > 0:07:10New Orleans still had the 12 point lead.
0:07:12 > 0:07:163rd down and six.
0:07:16 > 0:07:17Newton.
0:07:17 > 0:07:18Olsson.
0:07:18 > 0:07:19Touchdown!
0:07:19 > 0:07:22They motioned Ed Dickson from right to left, he sees
0:07:22 > 0:07:25the defensive back go with him, they know he is man to man.
0:07:25 > 0:07:28He gets a good release off the line of scrimmage.
0:07:28 > 0:07:31He gets inside and Cam Newton makes an excellent throw.
0:07:31 > 0:07:342nd & 7.
0:07:34 > 0:07:36Newton in trouble.
0:07:36 > 0:07:38And sacked.
0:07:38 > 0:07:42The first guy there was Tyler Davidson.
0:07:42 > 0:07:43He was there at the end of it.
0:07:43 > 0:07:46And Newton got hit hard.
0:07:46 > 0:07:48And he is now down on a knee.
0:07:48 > 0:07:51Looks to be out of it.
0:07:51 > 0:07:54He was going to the sideline and then he went down.
0:07:54 > 0:07:57That was a big time hit, as he came around.
0:07:57 > 0:08:00It was David, who had been getting better and better every week
0:08:00 > 0:08:03for the Saints and Davidson knocked him down anyway.
0:08:03 > 0:08:07His knee was down before the hit.
0:08:07 > 0:08:10That was a big time collision with a big body.
0:08:10 > 0:08:12300 pounds.
0:08:12 > 0:08:14Meanwhile, the back-up, Derek Anderson, he has been
0:08:14 > 0:08:17battling the flu all week, the guy who was a pro bowler earlier
0:08:17 > 0:08:21in his career back in 2007 but he has only thrown the ball
0:08:21 > 0:08:25eight times all year.
0:08:25 > 0:08:29A 34-year-old, 18 year pro, Derek Anderson.
0:08:29 > 0:08:31Third and 17th.
0:08:31 > 0:08:34This one is batted down by Jordan.
0:08:34 > 0:08:37The word that we are getting, is that he is wearing a shield
0:08:37 > 0:08:41to help, so that he does not get poked in the eye, because of that
0:08:41 > 0:08:44hit, it pushed sideways and did affect one of his eyes.
0:08:44 > 0:08:46Aside from the trainer and the team doctor,
0:08:46 > 0:08:49they did have a specialist in there and at this point,
0:08:49 > 0:08:54he appears to be well enough to come back into the game.
0:08:54 > 0:08:55Big task.
0:08:55 > 0:08:57Drew Brees gets around Julius Peppers.
0:08:57 > 0:09:01He goes on the run, he has got Thomas.
0:09:01 > 0:09:09Touchdown.
0:09:11 > 0:09:17He has not had the big plays.
0:09:17 > 0:09:20I tell you what, he impacts again.
0:09:20 > 0:09:22With all the things that he is capable of doing,
0:09:22 > 0:09:27on 2nd down, the pass is caught.
0:09:27 > 0:09:29McCaffrey.
0:09:29 > 0:09:34And in the front race, McCaffrey, to the end zone!
0:09:34 > 0:09:36A dome silencer from Cam Newton to Christian McCaffrey
0:09:36 > 0:09:43and it is a game again, 66 yards, for the touchdown.
0:09:43 > 0:09:46You are going to see the move that he makes,
0:09:46 > 0:09:48right at the top and he completely gets Robertson to jump
0:09:48 > 0:09:51the outside route.
0:09:51 > 0:09:54Underneath, there is no one there and it is a foot race
0:09:54 > 0:09:57and that is a great job.
0:09:57 > 0:09:59There is a lot of football left in this one.
0:09:59 > 0:10:00Here is the situation.
0:10:00 > 0:10:03You have got a Carolina team with no time outs,
0:10:03 > 0:10:06ready to get into the end zone and if you do not get it here,
0:10:06 > 0:10:09you are handing the ball to Carolina, basically in mid field
0:10:09 > 0:10:12and you are taking the time issue off the board and the chances
0:10:12 > 0:10:20of scoring a touchdown from mid field go up dramatically.
0:10:21 > 0:10:24They are going to go, 4th down and two, Drew Brees throws,
0:10:24 > 0:10:31the pass is picked.
0:10:31 > 0:10:37They are going to give the interception to Mike Adams.
0:10:37 > 0:10:40They were better off just knocking the ball down.
0:10:40 > 0:10:42You would have had much better field position,
0:10:42 > 0:10:44but just knocking it down, but the call right now,
0:10:44 > 0:10:45it is interception.
0:10:45 > 0:10:47The call on the field is an interception.
0:10:47 > 0:10:50The defensive player fumbled the ball forwards and out of bounds,
0:10:50 > 0:10:52the ball will be brought back to the spot of the fumble.
0:10:52 > 0:10:55Carolina's ball, and down.
0:10:55 > 0:10:57Newton in the pocket throws, the pass is caught
0:10:57 > 0:11:04by Devin Funchess in mid field.
0:11:04 > 0:11:05Newton.
0:11:05 > 0:11:07Passes to Klay.
0:11:07 > 0:11:08Was he in bounds?
0:11:08 > 0:11:10He was.
0:11:10 > 0:11:12The catch is made at the 26th.
0:11:12 > 0:11:1421 yard completion.
0:11:14 > 0:11:15The catch there.
0:11:15 > 0:11:23It got caught.
0:11:24 > 0:11:27Newton just throws it away, with Jordan all over it.
0:11:27 > 0:11:28The flag for grounding.
0:11:28 > 0:11:29Potential grounding.
0:11:29 > 0:11:30Offense.
0:11:30 > 0:11:31Number one.
0:11:31 > 0:11:37It will be 3rd down.
0:11:37 > 0:11:40He throws the ball all the way back to the 34.
0:11:40 > 0:11:43There is going to be a run off the clock with ten seconds
0:11:43 > 0:11:48and McCaffrey gets run over by Jordan and he is in the pocket.
0:11:48 > 0:11:50He is in the pocket and trying to unload.
0:11:50 > 0:11:55They have reset the play clock on that last play.
0:11:55 > 0:11:57A loss of 30 team yards, down and ten seconds.
0:11:57 > 0:12:0320 seconds left, third and 23.
0:12:03 > 0:12:05Newton to the end zone, Devin Funchess the target,
0:12:05 > 0:12:11no flag, it is incomplete, it is the 4th down.
0:12:11 > 0:12:15Fourth and 23.
0:12:15 > 0:12:23A sack.
0:12:24 > 0:12:26I'm not going to take the coward's way.
0:12:26 > 0:12:28And point someone else out.
0:12:28 > 0:12:33You know, I feel like plenty of times this year, it was up to me.
0:12:33 > 0:12:37I do believe I am the leader of this team and the team goes as I go.
0:12:37 > 0:12:41That comes with a lot of responsibility.
0:12:41 > 0:12:45The fact that we have got talented guys on this team,
0:12:45 > 0:12:49I feel like as a whole, it still starts with me.
0:12:49 > 0:12:52You prepare yourself, you put all the tools into your tool
0:12:52 > 0:12:55box and then you wait to get to the job and then you figure out,
0:12:55 > 0:12:59these are the tools we are going to need and these are the ones
0:12:59 > 0:13:00you hang onto.
0:13:00 > 0:13:02Especially in big games like this, when you are talking playoffs
0:13:02 > 0:13:06and the next step forward to achieving your goal.
0:13:06 > 0:13:09That was quite a humble Cam Newton that we saw there,
0:13:09 > 0:13:11taking all the blame, for when it hasn't gone right
0:13:11 > 0:13:14in the season and in the playoffs.
0:13:14 > 0:13:16That is the maturity and growth in the quarterback
0:13:16 > 0:13:17that you want to see.
0:13:17 > 0:13:21Which is why I feel a little bit unfair doing this.
0:13:21 > 0:13:24Because we took a look at both Drew Brees and Cam Newton and how
0:13:24 > 0:13:29they warmed up ahead of this game.
0:13:29 > 0:13:32Drew Brees, ever the professional, going through his stretches,
0:13:32 > 0:13:35going through his lunges...
0:13:35 > 0:13:36That is nice.
0:13:36 > 0:13:38I don't think that is yoga!
0:13:38 > 0:13:41That was how Cam Newton warmed up.
0:13:41 > 0:13:43Are we being slightly unfair or is it fair enough?
0:13:43 > 0:13:44Mark, that is youth!
0:13:44 > 0:13:47Drew Brees has to prepare his body like that!
0:13:47 > 0:13:54Cam Newton is still playing, man!
0:13:54 > 0:13:58He is still young, he can do that, he can run around before the game!
0:13:58 > 0:14:01A lot of times when we spoke about the Saints this season,
0:14:01 > 0:14:04we spoke about Ingram and Kamara and their running game.
0:14:04 > 0:14:06We have touched on Drew Brees occasionally.
0:14:06 > 0:14:08But during the coverage of this game, he was huge
0:14:08 > 0:14:10on Drew Brees and how he trained.
0:14:10 > 0:14:13Bateman had gone to watch him in practice, not only practising
0:14:13 > 0:14:15the accurate throws, but also getting his receiving court
0:14:15 > 0:14:18to react to perhaps the ones that would be just slightly off and these
0:14:18 > 0:14:25are the two plays that he raved about.
0:14:25 > 0:14:27This is all about the body positioning of the defender.
0:14:27 > 0:14:30He is throwing the ball where the defender is and these
0:14:30 > 0:14:32are the things that you work on in practice.
0:14:32 > 0:14:34You look at that and you might think it is underthrown,
0:14:34 > 0:14:37but he threw it at the shoulder that the defender was not covering.
0:14:37 > 0:14:40This makes it so hard as a defender to make the play,
0:14:40 > 0:14:42because you step back from the shoulder and
0:14:42 > 0:14:43you cannot get there.
0:14:43 > 0:14:45This is the play that he really, really liked.
0:14:45 > 0:14:48You know, he was a sensational quarterback and he will have seen
0:14:48 > 0:14:50a lot of quarterbacks practice.
0:14:50 > 0:14:52Absolutely, man.
0:14:52 > 0:14:54Use either throw here, this is just outstanding.
0:14:54 > 0:14:55This is what you call throwing into space,
0:14:55 > 0:14:58in a place where the defender has absolutely nothing to do.
0:14:58 > 0:15:01There is no way he can cover that, because is throwing
0:15:01 > 0:15:02to the back shoulder...
0:15:02 > 0:15:04It is about how the receiver reacts to it as well.
0:15:04 > 0:15:05Practice, practice, practice.
0:15:05 > 0:15:07This is old school Drew Brees.
0:15:07 > 0:15:08Against his former club.
0:15:11 > 0:15:14By the way, Drew Brees, 71% pass completion for the regular season.
0:15:14 > 0:15:16That is a record.
0:15:16 > 0:15:19He throws, he holds three of the top five single
0:15:19 > 0:15:27season completion ratios.
0:15:31 > 0:15:33Eight men on the broadcast, then telestrated this play again.
0:15:33 > 0:15:34And Jason, what do you see?
0:15:34 > 0:15:37Because a lot of us will just see a bicycle!
0:15:37 > 0:15:38But what are you seeing?
0:15:38 > 0:15:40What I'm seeing here is the cover three zone beater.
0:15:40 > 0:15:44And I'm seeing what Drew Brees does well, he can throw the ball
0:15:44 > 0:15:45vertically down the field.
0:15:45 > 0:15:48And what you see at the bottom, this corner he has this deep third.
0:15:48 > 0:15:51But on his side he has another play that takes him away from this.
0:15:51 > 0:15:53And he sneaks it right back behind him.
0:15:53 > 0:15:54Drew Brees does.
0:15:54 > 0:16:00And this is what he does best.
0:16:00 > 0:16:03So who is Drew Brees looking at more, step in and point.
0:16:03 > 0:16:05I would just go behind the screen!
0:16:05 > 0:16:07So basically what is happening is this!
0:16:07 > 0:16:09Basically this is what zone he is trying to attack, OK.
0:16:09 > 0:16:11Number 24, Bradbury, that is what he has.
0:16:11 > 0:16:15So basically what you want to do, on this side you want to run
0:16:15 > 0:16:18a short rout to making get what we call greedy.
0:16:18 > 0:16:19Right.
0:16:19 > 0:16:20Just hesitate a second.
0:16:20 > 0:16:22And that hesitation is what Drew Brees takes advantage of.
0:16:22 > 0:16:24And you see it right here.
0:16:24 > 0:16:26One little hesitation, and that is his zone.
0:16:26 > 0:16:29That is the cover three beater, you bring that guy across the field
0:16:29 > 0:16:30and that is what happens.
0:16:30 > 0:16:33To be honest with you watching Drew Brees dissect the Carolina
0:16:33 > 0:16:35defence, it brought a tear to my eye.
0:16:35 > 0:16:37Because all the talk was about Kamara, Ingram,
0:16:37 > 0:16:38all the great running backs.
0:16:38 > 0:16:40People forgot what a great quarterback he was.
0:16:40 > 0:16:43Kind of like something that happened here on our show.
0:16:43 > 0:16:47People kind of forgot the great quarterback that we had here!
0:16:47 > 0:16:49He came back to us, man!
0:16:49 > 0:16:50And showed himself.
0:16:50 > 0:16:52That is what I'm talking about.
0:16:52 > 0:16:53That wasn't even rehearsed!
0:16:53 > 0:16:57I feel all emotional.
0:16:57 > 0:17:00The NFL will be looking at what happened to Cam Newton
0:17:00 > 0:17:01and concussion protocol.
0:17:01 > 0:17:05He was the victim of a big hit in this game.
0:17:05 > 0:17:07And he subsequently, and I think the Panthers have said
0:17:07 > 0:17:11there was something in his eye.
0:17:11 > 0:17:16But if they followed the concussion protocol, he got taken off,
0:17:16 > 0:17:19he went into the blue tent and then he should have gone
0:17:19 > 0:17:21into the locker room as well, yes?
0:17:21 > 0:17:23Right, but nobody knows what happened in that blue tent.
0:17:23 > 0:17:24No one knows.
0:17:24 > 0:17:28What he was trying to do was get more time for the back up
0:17:28 > 0:17:29quarterback to come on.
0:17:29 > 0:17:31As players, we have done that before, we know this happens.
0:17:31 > 0:17:33With the concussion rules and the protocol, everybody has
0:17:33 > 0:17:35a watchful eye on these things.
0:17:35 > 0:17:38There was something in his eye, all right!
0:17:38 > 0:17:43But I mean, it is a serious issue.
0:17:43 > 0:17:45It is serious, we're taking a lot of risk playing football.
0:17:45 > 0:17:49You cannot allow him to go out on the football field if he has
0:17:49 > 0:17:51an issue with his head.
0:17:51 > 0:17:54I do not think they handled that the right way, they should have
0:17:54 > 0:17:56looked further into what happened.
0:17:56 > 0:17:58We will preview the divisional games more on Saturday on the show,
0:17:58 > 0:18:01by the way, which will be after Match Of The Day.
0:18:01 > 0:18:04We will preview all of the divisional games and take a look
0:18:04 > 0:18:06at the 2018 London games which will be announced this
0:18:06 > 0:18:07coming Thursday as well.
0:18:07 > 0:18:10And all of our shows are on the iPlayer.
0:18:10 > 0:18:12But there is a growing belief that the Saints
0:18:12 > 0:18:13could go to the Super Bowl?
0:18:13 > 0:18:14I'm a believer!
0:18:14 > 0:18:16Not just from you, I mean...
0:18:16 > 0:18:17The only person that matters!
0:18:17 > 0:18:20I know that you were nice to me, but it is not all about you!
0:18:20 > 0:18:2212 months ago Atlanta started their playoff journey,
0:18:22 > 0:18:26which ended in brutal fashion at Super Bowl 51.
0:18:26 > 0:18:29The memories of letting a 28-3 lead slip to New England are ones Falcons
0:18:29 > 0:18:32fans would like to forget, fast.
0:18:32 > 0:18:36Back on the playoff path, they started 2018 in Los Angeles
0:18:36 > 0:18:39against a Rams side that have defied expectation.
0:18:39 > 0:18:42A lot has happened in the 32 years since the Rams hosted playoff
0:18:42 > 0:18:46football in Los Angeles.
0:18:46 > 0:18:49In 1986 the New England Patriots had none of their five Super Bowl wins,
0:18:49 > 0:18:52but more to the point quarterback Jared Goff and head coach
0:18:52 > 0:18:56Sean McVay were not even born.
0:18:56 > 0:18:59Sean McVay were not even born.
0:18:59 > 0:19:05The 2017 Rams reset is underway.
0:19:05 > 0:19:10The perfect fit to lead the Los Angeles Rams was Sean McVay.
0:19:10 > 0:19:17For the first time since 2003 the Rams are the best in the West.
0:19:17 > 0:19:21Rams, here comes Atlanta.
0:19:21 > 0:19:25Don't do nobody else's job but yours!
0:19:25 > 0:19:32One step at a time!
0:19:32 > 0:19:36Take advantage of this moment!
0:19:36 > 0:19:38We are confident, we believe in ourselves.
0:19:38 > 0:19:41And we believe in our experience in the past.
0:19:41 > 0:19:49It is never more important than this week.
0:19:51 > 0:19:55COMMENTARY: The game is not even six minutes old.
0:19:55 > 0:19:56Two explosive offences.
0:19:56 > 0:19:57No first downs yet.
0:19:57 > 0:20:00Four three and outs.
0:20:00 > 0:20:02Cooper back to run it back.
0:20:02 > 0:20:03Backs up.
0:20:03 > 0:20:07Comes forward.
0:20:07 > 0:20:09Starts for the fair catch then has to let it go.
0:20:09 > 0:20:12And the ball is loose.
0:20:12 > 0:20:15And it hit Cooper and if the Falcons recover it, they're going
0:20:15 > 0:20:19to be in great shape.
0:20:19 > 0:20:21And they think they have, waiting for the crew
0:20:21 > 0:20:23to come in and let us know.
0:20:23 > 0:20:26Atlanta's ball.
0:20:26 > 0:20:28No question, Cooper touched the ball.
0:20:28 > 0:20:31But then there is a state of confusion out there as the other
0:20:31 > 0:20:32players were confused.
0:20:32 > 0:20:34Do we grab it, do we not?
0:20:34 > 0:20:35We're not sure.
0:20:35 > 0:20:36Countess didn't know exactly what to do.
0:20:36 > 0:20:39And ultimately that cost the Rams the football.
0:20:39 > 0:20:43And that is a huge play for the Atlanta Falcons.
0:20:43 > 0:20:47STUDIO: The Falcons converted to the turnover into the opening
0:20:47 > 0:20:54points courtesy of 29 yard Matt Bryant field goal.
0:20:54 > 0:21:02He extended the lead to six from 51 yards after a Rams three and out.
0:21:02 > 0:21:05COMMENTARY: Cooper from the nine yard line to run it back.
0:21:05 > 0:21:10Spins away.
0:21:10 > 0:21:13Loses the ball and Atlanta may have come up with the 32 yard line.
0:21:13 > 0:21:15And it is going to be Atlanta's ball.
0:21:15 > 0:21:16Cooper got spun around.
0:21:16 > 0:21:19He lost his vision and Kazee was able to come in and
0:21:19 > 0:21:21punch that thing out.
0:21:21 > 0:21:26Now it is game on again.
0:21:26 > 0:21:31Second down and goal from the three.
0:21:31 > 0:21:39At the top.
0:21:43 > 0:21:46Freeman is going to bust his way as he leads, and gets in.
0:21:46 > 0:21:47Touchdown.
0:21:47 > 0:21:49Alex Mack, the pro ball centre.
0:21:49 > 0:21:50Watch the centre, Alex Mack.
0:21:50 > 0:21:53He is going to come off his block, a little bit too early,
0:21:53 > 0:21:56but then he's going to see Freeman stuck at the goal line.
0:21:56 > 0:21:58So here he comes, giving him a big Bear hug.
0:21:58 > 0:22:00And just slamming him into the end zone.
0:22:00 > 0:22:023rd and five.
0:22:02 > 0:22:03Goff will throw to the end zone.
0:22:03 > 0:22:05In by Cooper Kupp, touchdown.
0:22:05 > 0:22:10Great play by Robert Woods.
0:22:10 > 0:22:12His job is to pick down here, when he saw he didn't
0:22:12 > 0:22:15have the great angle, and that Kupp was going to win
0:22:15 > 0:22:16anyway, he let it go.
0:22:16 > 0:22:18Didn't get the call against him.
0:22:18 > 0:22:22And here we go, Rams.
0:22:22 > 0:22:27STUDIO: After the Rams touchdown, the kickers took over.
0:22:27 > 0:22:30Matt Bryant and Sam Ficken with two field goals apiece.
0:22:30 > 0:22:32Meaning the Rams trailed by six points midway
0:22:32 > 0:22:37through the fourth quarter.
0:22:37 > 0:22:39COMMENTARY: Seven and a half to go.
0:22:39 > 0:22:432nd and 13.
0:22:43 > 0:22:45That is Mohamed Sanu.
0:22:45 > 0:22:48Off to the races he goes.
0:22:48 > 0:22:51And tackled at the ten yard line by Joyner.
0:22:51 > 0:22:54Huge play by the Falcons.
0:22:54 > 0:22:5752 yards, beautiful.
0:22:57 > 0:22:59Give a little credit to Schweitzer coming out here.
0:22:59 > 0:23:02Everybody is going to block out that way and Mohamed Sanu
0:23:02 > 0:23:04comes back inside.
0:23:04 > 0:23:07It was Schweitzer who got out in front of it and created just
0:23:07 > 0:23:10enough of a distraction to send this one to the races.
0:23:10 > 0:23:15Second down and goal.
0:23:15 > 0:23:20That pass in by Jones for a touchdown.
0:23:20 > 0:23:25A floater, and he is able to make the catch.
0:23:25 > 0:23:27Watch what Matt Ryan does with this lollipop!
0:23:27 > 0:23:31Just buys Julio Jones a little time.
0:23:31 > 0:23:38And there was John Johnson out there, a gutsy call,
0:23:39 > 0:23:40a gutsy throw.
0:23:40 > 0:23:41Very much.
0:23:41 > 0:23:43Back foot was sliding on the grass.
0:23:43 > 0:23:48Had to get the ball to 46 for a first down.
0:23:48 > 0:23:51Goff fires, finally Sammy Watkins makes a catch, and a big one here,
0:23:51 > 0:23:54as he spins the ball away to the 50 yard line.
0:23:54 > 0:23:58First down.
0:23:58 > 0:24:02Robert Woods...
0:24:02 > 0:24:03He makes the catch.
0:24:03 > 0:24:05He has the first down.
0:24:05 > 0:24:09He is out of bounds and has control before he steps out.
0:24:09 > 0:24:10Let's see.
0:24:10 > 0:24:12No, no.
0:24:12 > 0:24:15And there.
0:24:15 > 0:24:23Malcolm Brown to go wide, third down and goal.
0:24:23 > 0:24:26Goff fires and in for the touchdown!
0:24:26 > 0:24:27Higbee, the tight end.
0:24:27 > 0:24:33They're going to take a look at this.
0:24:33 > 0:24:34Scoring reviewed, does he hold onto it,
0:24:34 > 0:24:36does he have possession, does he survive the ground?
0:24:36 > 0:24:37As the saying goes?
0:24:37 > 0:24:39A little loose.
0:24:39 > 0:24:41Incomplete.
0:24:41 > 0:24:43Oh, boy.
0:24:43 > 0:24:45The ball came out and hit the ground.
0:24:45 > 0:24:47It was therefore an incomplete pass.
0:24:47 > 0:24:55It is fourth down on the five yard line.
0:25:01 > 0:25:02You have got Goff.
0:25:02 > 0:25:04And Goff looking, throwing, and it is not caught.
0:25:04 > 0:25:05Is there a flag?
0:25:05 > 0:25:06There is no flag.
0:25:06 > 0:25:08Dion Jones breaks it up, intended for Sammy Watkins.
0:25:08 > 0:25:09And Atlanta will take over.
0:25:09 > 0:25:11The final score is 26 - 13.
0:25:11 > 0:25:16The Atlanta Falcons over the Los Angeles Rams.
0:25:16 > 0:25:19I think when you look back on it, certainly starting with me,
0:25:19 > 0:25:22there is a lot of things we can do just to put players in better
0:25:22 > 0:25:23positions to have success.
0:25:23 > 0:25:26Any time you lose the turnover battle you're going to make it
0:25:26 > 0:25:28extremely difficult on yourself.
0:25:28 > 0:25:31What a total team effort, it came from our group of guys.
0:25:31 > 0:25:33This is certainly a battle tested brotherhood for us and I thought
0:25:33 > 0:25:39that paid off tonight.
0:25:39 > 0:25:41We are building a foundation where that trajectories pointing
0:25:41 > 0:25:42upward for the Rams.
0:25:42 > 0:25:46And it starts with a bunch of great people and that is what we do have.
0:25:46 > 0:25:48We're really pumped on the performance tonight,
0:25:48 > 0:25:50I felt the guys displayed a lot of toughness and resilience.
0:25:50 > 0:25:53And you know, we have a lot to prove and we're certainly looking
0:25:53 > 0:25:56forward to our next game.
0:25:56 > 0:26:00So Atlanta's shot at Super Bowl redemption contiues after that
0:26:00 > 0:26:02controlled win in Los Angeles.
0:26:02 > 0:26:05As the lowest ranked seed they go to number 1 seeds Philadelphia,
0:26:05 > 0:26:08where they'll no doubt sense an opportunity at an Eagles
0:26:08 > 0:26:09team minus Carson Wentz.
0:26:09 > 0:26:12In the other tie 4th seeds New Orleans head to Minnesota
0:26:12 > 0:26:17for a mouthwatering game against the Vikings.
0:26:17 > 0:26:21Dan Quinn described his players as battle tested brotherhood.
0:26:21 > 0:26:25Can you simplify and say it was a team full
0:26:25 > 0:26:28of experience in the play-offs against an inexperienced team in the
0:26:28 > 0:26:29Rams, can you say that?
0:26:29 > 0:26:30I can say that.
0:26:30 > 0:26:32Why can you say that?
0:26:32 > 0:26:33Because there is nothing more important in
0:26:33 > 0:26:37football than being experienced in a situation,
0:26:37 > 0:26:39especially a situation of football.
0:26:39 > 0:26:41And they have been through all those situations because of the
0:26:41 > 0:26:42last year.
0:26:42 > 0:26:45So whatever happens in the game, you are prepared for it.
0:26:45 > 0:26:50There's no question about that.
0:26:50 > 0:26:52Obviously we knew that the Rams were a young
0:26:52 > 0:26:53football team, we knew that
0:26:53 > 0:26:55they had a bunch of talent.
0:26:55 > 0:26:56But the Atlanta Falcons, their battle
0:26:56 > 0:26:57tested, battle hardened.
0:26:57 > 0:26:59And they showed that throughout the entire
0:26:59 > 0:27:00football game.
0:27:00 > 0:27:03The Rams offence has been so exciting this season and we
0:27:03 > 0:27:04have gone on about it loads.
0:27:04 > 0:27:06And yet the Atlanta defence to all intents
0:27:06 > 0:27:08and purposes, shut it down.
0:27:08 > 0:27:10First of all, look at how they pressured Goff.
0:27:10 > 0:27:13To all intents and purposes.
0:27:13 > 0:27:15I used to think it was intensive purposes.
0:27:15 > 0:27:16It is intents and purposes.
0:27:16 > 0:27:17OK.
0:27:17 > 0:27:19Obviously, I mean, going up against a young
0:27:19 > 0:27:21quarterback, you want to put pressure on the quarterback.
0:27:21 > 0:27:24And you can see the Atlanta Falcons do this
0:27:24 > 0:27:25tremendously.
0:27:25 > 0:27:26Nowhere to step up, swarming him.
0:27:26 > 0:27:29You see the guy coming at the edge, Mike Harris, he is an
0:27:29 > 0:27:30outstanding football player.
0:27:30 > 0:27:32Coming up the edge, bringing the guy down.
0:27:32 > 0:27:34And up the middle here, just pressure.
0:27:34 > 0:27:36Sometimes it is not even about getting sacked.
0:27:36 > 0:27:38Sometimes you just want to make the guy
0:27:38 > 0:27:41uncomfortable in the pocket and force him to make throws and you see
0:27:41 > 0:27:43him right here, hesitating, holding on to the football.
0:27:43 > 0:27:45So it plants that seed of doubt.
0:27:45 > 0:27:51It doesn't matter if you don't hit it, but if you get
0:27:51 > 0:27:52near it plants the seed of doubt.
0:27:52 > 0:27:55It makes him uncomfortable, makes and start thinking, makes him start
0:27:55 > 0:27:57chasing ghosts, is what we like to call it.
0:27:57 > 0:27:59That is what happened to him.
0:27:59 > 0:28:02Tom Gurley has been such a weapon for them as well over the
0:28:02 > 0:28:03course of this season.
0:28:03 > 0:28:04Atlanta dealt with him.
0:28:04 > 0:28:06But they also dealt with the receivers as well.
0:28:06 > 0:28:07Which is your area of expertise.
0:28:07 > 0:28:09So the floor is all yours!
0:28:09 > 0:28:10I love it!
0:28:10 > 0:28:12One thing about this team, they are a great
0:28:12 > 0:28:13tackling defence.
0:28:13 > 0:28:15And they knew they had to do this.
0:28:15 > 0:28:18If you look right here, Brian Poole and this tackle he
0:28:18 > 0:28:19makes on Gurley.
0:28:19 > 0:28:20This is what you have to do.
0:28:20 > 0:28:23You have to be able to tackle in the open field.
0:28:23 > 0:28:24Get him down, one-on-one tackles.
0:28:24 > 0:28:26You must win against a back like Gurley.
0:28:26 > 0:28:28And you see that going through and being
0:28:28 > 0:28:29successful.
0:28:29 > 0:28:31And right here Alfred, usually the number two corner on
0:28:31 > 0:28:33this team, he had a great game.
0:28:33 > 0:28:35As you see right there, against the speed receiver,
0:28:35 > 0:28:36he makes a big play.
0:28:36 > 0:28:44Once again Gurley, and this is team tackling, get on the ground.
0:28:45 > 0:28:50Don't let him breakthrough.
0:28:50 > 0:28:52And here you see a play by the other quarter, who
0:28:52 > 0:28:55has two brothers by the way in play in the NFL.
0:28:55 > 0:28:57All corners, making a good play right there.
0:28:57 > 0:28:59And that is what you've got to do.
0:28:59 > 0:29:01As far as the Rams are concerned, just a quick one
0:29:01 > 0:29:02on them.
0:29:02 > 0:29:05In many ways this season they have actually been ahead of
0:29:05 > 0:29:07schedule compared to where they were last season.
0:29:07 > 0:29:10So they should not be too downhearted at losing in the
0:29:10 > 0:29:11play-offs.
0:29:11 > 0:29:12They should not be disappointed at all.
0:29:12 > 0:29:14They had a fantastic season, given the
0:29:14 > 0:29:15expectations.
0:29:15 > 0:29:18Nobody thought they were going to come as far as they
0:29:18 > 0:29:19came.
0:29:19 > 0:29:21And this is an outstanding young football team with a good
0:29:21 > 0:29:22nucleus.
0:29:22 > 0:29:25They're going to be a formidable team for years to come.
0:29:25 > 0:29:27Yes, but they've got to sign Aaron Donald.
0:29:27 > 0:29:29He was arguably the best defensive player in football.
0:29:29 > 0:29:31They've got to get him back.
0:29:31 > 0:29:32Big money.
0:29:32 > 0:29:35They opened the regular season with a huge win in New England
0:29:35 > 0:29:36and quickly went to 5-0.
0:29:36 > 0:29:38Osi aside, Kansas City were being talked of by many
0:29:38 > 0:29:39as Super Bowl contenders.
0:29:39 > 0:29:42A rocky period ensued for the Chiefs with 5 wins from 11,
0:29:42 > 0:29:45however they made the post season and face a Tennessee team
0:29:45 > 0:29:46without a playoff win since 2003.
0:29:46 > 0:29:48As Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota makes his first appearance
0:29:48 > 0:29:51in the playoffs a worrying stat hung over Arrowhead stadium -
0:29:51 > 0:29:59the Chiefs have lost their last five home playoff games.
0:30:02 > 0:30:06COMMENTARY: This time a touchdown for Kareem Hunt.
0:30:06 > 0:30:09Hard to stop.
0:30:09 > 0:30:12You could hand the ball to Kareem Hunt, Alex Smith can keep
0:30:12 > 0:30:16it, and it is miserable on a defence.
0:30:16 > 0:30:19Touchdown, that was easy.
0:30:19 > 0:30:23Travis Kelce in the endzone for Kansas City.
0:30:23 > 0:30:26Alex Smith, some of these plays are hard to defend.
0:30:26 > 0:30:27Play-action pass.
0:30:27 > 0:30:35You see Williamson step up.
0:30:39 > 0:30:43STUDIO: Ryan Succop's 49 yard field goal put the Titans on the board.
0:30:43 > 0:30:47They trailed by 11 points with less than two minutes left in the half.
0:30:47 > 0:30:49COMMENTARY: Smith over the middle.
0:30:49 > 0:30:51Travis Kelce might be hurt, he went down to the ground.
0:30:51 > 0:30:53The ball is out, the play dead.
0:30:53 > 0:30:54Oh, boy.
0:30:54 > 0:30:56Oh, boy.
0:30:56 > 0:31:00Travis Kelce very wobbly as he tried to get back onto his feet.
0:31:00 > 0:31:06You could tell the moment he went down towards the ground.
0:31:06 > 0:31:08Cyprian, number 37, with a big hit.
0:31:08 > 0:31:13Travis Kelce will certainly go through the concussion protocol.
0:31:13 > 0:31:15Wide-open!
0:31:15 > 0:31:17And a touchdown.
0:31:17 > 0:31:20With three seconds to go in the half.
0:31:20 > 0:31:21It is a two deep zone.
0:31:21 > 0:31:26He threw the ball between the corner and safety.
0:31:26 > 0:31:30Third down on goal.
0:31:30 > 0:31:32Tennessee in dire need of six and not three.
0:31:32 > 0:31:35Marcus Mariota.
0:31:35 > 0:31:36Mariota to the line of scrimmage.
0:31:36 > 0:31:39Maybe across the line.
0:31:39 > 0:31:41It deflects back to him for a touchdown.
0:31:41 > 0:31:47For the moment.
0:31:47 > 0:31:49But was he across the line of scrimmage?
0:31:49 > 0:31:51I believe that is touchdown, and one you will not
0:31:51 > 0:31:55see for a long time.
0:31:55 > 0:31:57Eddie Reid interested to see the replay.
0:31:57 > 0:32:01The ball goes right back to Mariota.
0:32:01 > 0:32:02Quarterback in behind the line.
0:32:02 > 0:32:04It is a touchdown.
0:32:04 > 0:32:07It is Mariota to Mariota.
0:32:07 > 0:32:09He has had a hard time throwing touchdown passes this year.
0:32:09 > 0:32:14He will take it anyway he can get it.
0:32:14 > 0:32:17There is an uneasiness that is palpable in this stadium.
0:32:17 > 0:32:20Kansas City did not have a first down in the third quarter.
0:32:20 > 0:32:25They had just six yards.
0:32:25 > 0:32:27The Titans had the ball for nearly 11 minutes.
0:32:27 > 0:32:28Henry ripping through!
0:32:28 > 0:32:29Henry inside the 20.
0:32:29 > 0:32:30Henry inside the five.
0:32:30 > 0:32:34Touchdown, Tennessee!
0:32:34 > 0:32:36Three Kansas City Chiefs over here.
0:32:36 > 0:32:42You see the right guard, and they punished the Chiefs.
0:32:42 > 0:32:50Play clock running down the whole while.
0:32:50 > 0:32:53They get it off.
0:32:53 > 0:32:55And the pass is dropped in front of Charles.
0:32:55 > 0:32:58That probably would have been Travis Kelce, instead it is Charles
0:32:58 > 0:32:59who has 11 career catches.
0:32:59 > 0:33:01The defensive coordinator of the Chiefs looking
0:33:01 > 0:33:02for the right call.
0:33:02 > 0:33:04His defence has been on the field this entire second half.
0:33:04 > 0:33:07From the 22, 2nd and ten.
0:33:07 > 0:33:10Mariota over the line, touchdown, Tennessee!
0:33:10 > 0:33:13Eric Decker hangs on to that one for one of the biggest
0:33:13 > 0:33:16catches of his life.
0:33:16 > 0:33:18Tennessee has got to go again.
0:33:18 > 0:33:22They have to find a way to get the proper play call.
0:33:22 > 0:33:25Bringing Henry to what seems to be the proper place for him.
0:33:25 > 0:33:27Spread out to the right.
0:33:27 > 0:33:30And he is going to be down.
0:33:30 > 0:33:36The crowd going crazy.
0:33:36 > 0:33:42The play stopped, it does not matter, this place is going crazy.
0:33:42 > 0:33:46Just got a little extra exercise!
0:33:46 > 0:33:49Third down and nine.
0:33:49 > 0:33:53Four-man rush and he is down at the line of scrimmage.
0:33:53 > 0:33:55In the arms of Derrick Morgan.
0:33:55 > 0:33:59The season for the Chiefs could come down to this play.
0:33:59 > 0:34:01Fourth down and nine.
0:34:01 > 0:34:03Down by a plate, they led 21-3.
0:34:03 > 0:34:05Alex Smith.
0:34:05 > 0:34:08Throws deep down the field and it is incomplete.
0:34:08 > 0:34:11Off the fingertips of Wilson.
0:34:11 > 0:34:19And Tennessee will take over.
0:34:19 > 0:34:21Disbelief in Kansas City, is it going to happen again?
0:34:21 > 0:34:23They've lost five straight home play-offs.
0:34:23 > 0:34:24The NFL record.
0:34:24 > 0:34:27In a place where it is so hard for the opponent to win.
0:34:27 > 0:34:30They have led 21-3 today and now the Chiefs really up against it.
0:34:30 > 0:34:311st & ten.
0:34:31 > 0:34:36And the ball comes out.
0:34:36 > 0:34:39The ball has come out - Derek Johnson, the all-time
0:34:39 > 0:34:40leading tackler.
0:34:40 > 0:34:41With a touchdown!
0:34:41 > 0:34:42For Kansas City.
0:34:42 > 0:34:46Marcus Peters ripped it away from Derrick Henry.
0:34:46 > 0:34:49A lot of commotion on the Tennessee sideline, they think
0:34:49 > 0:34:51that Henry was down.
0:34:51 > 0:34:53And it looks like he definitely was.
0:34:53 > 0:34:54Was the ball starting to come out?
0:34:54 > 0:34:59He has possession of it.
0:34:59 > 0:35:02Contact on the 46 yard line.
0:35:02 > 0:35:043rd and ten.
0:35:04 > 0:35:09No safety in the middle of the field.
0:35:09 > 0:35:16So what would you do?
0:35:16 > 0:35:17Mariota blocks Henry.
0:35:17 > 0:35:181st down and more.
0:35:18 > 0:35:20Marcus is in there to throw a block for Henry.
0:35:20 > 0:35:22They gave it again, in the fourth quarter.
0:35:22 > 0:35:25He has delivered the Titans into the next round of the playoffs.
0:35:25 > 0:35:26They run a spread formation.
0:35:26 > 0:35:34They run a zone read.
0:35:34 > 0:35:36They do not block Frank until Marcus Mariota picks him
0:35:36 > 0:35:38up late.
0:35:38 > 0:35:40Boos cascading down from the fans as the Chiefs lose their
0:35:40 > 0:35:44fourth playoff game.
0:35:44 > 0:35:47One of the greatest wins I have ever been a
0:35:47 > 0:35:48part of.
0:35:48 > 0:35:49Greatest wins.
0:35:49 > 0:35:51Thank you guys.
0:35:51 > 0:35:54I appreciate everyone of you.
0:35:54 > 0:35:56Playing the way that you play, and trusting the process.
0:35:56 > 0:36:04And believing in yourselves.
0:36:04 > 0:36:07You guys have done that the whole year, and you have
0:36:07 > 0:36:08been resilient since I have known you.
0:36:08 > 0:36:10And don't ever count this team out.
0:36:10 > 0:36:14Hey, we are not done yet, man, we have the big boys next week, so
0:36:14 > 0:36:15get your minds right!
0:36:15 > 0:36:17One, two, three.
0:36:17 > 0:36:20We will come on to Mike Malarkey.
0:36:20 > 0:36:22I have got my hand in.
0:36:22 > 0:36:24We will come on to Mike Malarkey, their
0:36:24 > 0:36:30head coach very shortly.
0:36:30 > 0:36:34It was a cracking game, but did it all change
0:36:34 > 0:36:35when Travis Kelce went off?
0:36:35 > 0:36:37You look at the reaction of the crowd when he
0:36:37 > 0:36:38scored the touchdown.
0:36:38 > 0:36:41They were pumped, there was energy, everything went flat when he went
0:36:41 > 0:36:42off.
0:36:42 > 0:36:43Absolutely.
0:36:43 > 0:36:46And it is because of how dangerous he is as a player.
0:36:46 > 0:36:48As you see this right here.
0:36:48 > 0:36:50This is what he does, he was effective in
0:36:50 > 0:36:51the red zone.
0:36:51 > 0:36:53He is what their offense runs through, besides the
0:36:53 > 0:36:55running game and when he goes off the field,
0:36:55 > 0:36:56he completely changes the
0:36:56 > 0:36:58dynamic of how that offense was flowing.
0:36:58 > 0:36:59It was an outstanding hit.
0:36:59 > 0:37:01He is playing fast, physical and lose.
0:37:01 > 0:37:03There is nothing that guy could have done besides hit
0:37:03 > 0:37:04him that way.
0:37:04 > 0:37:06That is the way you're supposed to play football.
0:37:06 > 0:37:09But a guy like Travis Kelce, one A and one B
0:37:09 > 0:37:13with Rob Gronkowski as far as the top players in the league.
0:37:13 > 0:37:15You can see as he wobbled there was no
0:37:15 > 0:37:17chance of him coming back on with the whole
0:37:17 > 0:37:18concussion protocol.
0:37:18 > 0:37:20Then when we got into the second half, we
0:37:20 > 0:37:23saw a freer Marcus Mariota, who did everything he possibly could to win
0:37:23 > 0:37:27the game for Tennessee, including catching his own pass.
0:37:27 > 0:37:29Life was good for markers, right?
0:37:29 > 0:37:32Ultimately, what he did was...
0:37:32 > 0:37:34Particularly, because at the end of this first half, by
0:37:34 > 0:37:38Particularly, because at the end of this first half, by
0:37:38 > 0:37:40the way, this was one of the hits.
0:37:40 > 0:37:41He took that hit.
0:37:41 > 0:37:43That is a delayed blitz right here.
0:37:43 > 0:37:45They do not account for it in the defensive line
0:37:45 > 0:37:48and I cannot believe he got up so easily.
0:37:48 > 0:37:50Then he comes out, before the second half, and does that.
0:37:50 > 0:37:56Times are good for him right now.
0:37:56 > 0:37:59They say he is a good guy, and we see it
0:37:59 > 0:38:00right now.
0:38:00 > 0:38:02Ultimately, you have to be athletic to catch that ball.
0:38:02 > 0:38:04You have got to make the plays.
0:38:04 > 0:38:06He just wants to do anything to win the
0:38:06 > 0:38:07game.
0:38:07 > 0:38:10Did you see how he threw his right shoulder in there?
0:38:10 > 0:38:11That is his throwing arm.
0:38:11 > 0:38:14That is the guy saying, I don't care what is going
0:38:14 > 0:38:16to happen, we need to win this game.
0:38:16 > 0:38:18Most quarterbacks would not even think about doing that.
0:38:18 > 0:38:19Look at his team-mates.
0:38:19 > 0:38:22Look how they appreciate what this guy was able to do.
0:38:22 > 0:38:24They gave him the freedom in the second
0:38:24 > 0:38:25half, didn't they, to run the offense,
0:38:25 > 0:38:27because they were trailing, they needed to be quick.
0:38:27 > 0:38:29The play calling did not happen as much,
0:38:29 > 0:38:32which is what I think a lot of Tennessee Titans fans have been
0:38:32 > 0:38:33calling for all season?
0:38:33 > 0:38:36If you go back to his days of playing quarterback,
0:38:36 > 0:38:37this is exactly what he did.
0:38:37 > 0:38:39You have to turn a guy like this lose.
0:38:39 > 0:38:41He makes plays with his legs.
0:38:41 > 0:38:43He makes plays with his arm, whenever
0:38:43 > 0:38:44he has to.
0:38:44 > 0:38:46He is an outstanding young quarterback, and he will show
0:38:46 > 0:38:48that in the second half of this game.
0:38:48 > 0:38:50Sport is strange, because at half-time, Mark Malarkey was
0:38:50 > 0:38:53probably losing his job as head coach at Tennessee and now he
0:38:53 > 0:38:54certainly will not be, firstly.
0:38:54 > 0:38:55Yeah.
0:38:55 > 0:38:58Alex Smith would have been going on to divisional games, may be
0:38:58 > 0:39:00a Championship game, now, and that defeat
0:39:00 > 0:39:01was not his fault, was it?
0:39:01 > 0:39:03He could be on his way out,
0:39:03 > 0:39:04all the indications are that
0:39:04 > 0:39:05he will be.
0:39:05 > 0:39:07You know, obviously they have a young
0:39:07 > 0:39:08guy who they drafted in
0:39:08 > 0:39:11last year, in Patrick Mahones, who came into the game and showed
0:39:11 > 0:39:13something in the last regular season game.
0:39:13 > 0:39:15Showed that he could actually lead this football team.
0:39:15 > 0:39:18Alex Smith, even though he is a good quarterback, he is just not that
0:39:18 > 0:39:20elite quarterback who can get you to that next level
0:39:20 > 0:39:23and he did not get the job done for the Chiefs this
0:39:23 > 0:39:24year.
0:39:24 > 0:39:26Alex Smith had a great year.
0:39:26 > 0:39:27And he had a great game.
0:39:27 > 0:39:29He had five dropped passes in this game.
0:39:29 > 0:39:32It was not his fault and he is going to be
0:39:32 > 0:39:34a great quarterback next year for another team.
0:39:34 > 0:39:35We are going through this again?
0:39:35 > 0:39:36All right.
0:39:36 > 0:39:38Seldom is an opposing player lauded quite like
0:39:38 > 0:39:40Andy Dalton was in Buffalo last week.
0:39:40 > 0:39:42Dalton's game winning drive for Cincinnati defeated Baltimore
0:39:42 > 0:39:44and handed Buffalo it's first trip to the playoffs since
0:39:44 > 0:39:45the 1999 season.
0:39:45 > 0:39:48Bills fans reacted with class by donating in their droves
0:39:48 > 0:39:56to Dalton's foundation, $345,000 to be exact.
0:39:56 > 0:39:58Heading to the defensive juggernaut that is Jacksonsonville,
0:39:58 > 0:40:00themselves hosting a playoff game for the first time since 2000,
0:40:00 > 0:40:02i wonder how much Bills fans would donate to
0:40:02 > 0:40:14the Blake Bortles Foundation should he throw them a few interceptions!
0:40:14 > 0:40:18So here is how they end the postseason for the 16th year in a
0:40:18 > 0:40:19row.
0:40:19 > 0:40:20His old team Seattle is out.
0:40:20 > 0:40:23They could not make it this year and there is the flag out.
0:40:23 > 0:40:25Oh, they have got it on both sides!
0:40:25 > 0:40:26Defense.
0:40:26 > 0:40:27I think it was Smith.
0:40:27 > 0:40:28He was anxious.
0:40:28 > 0:40:30Half the distance.
0:40:30 > 0:40:32That will put you roughly about the one and a half...
0:40:32 > 0:40:37Which would be a 1st down, would it?
0:40:37 > 0:40:39Yeah, it is a 1st down.
0:40:39 > 0:40:40Out of the eye, up top.
0:40:40 > 0:40:41Pass.
0:40:41 > 0:40:42Benjamin.
0:40:42 > 0:40:43Flag out on Ramsay?
0:40:43 > 0:40:44No.
0:40:44 > 0:40:46I think that is going the other way!
0:40:46 > 0:40:48That has got to be an offense.
0:40:48 > 0:40:49Ramsey did not do anything there.
0:40:49 > 0:40:51We will see if they call it, but usually...
0:40:51 > 0:40:53Offense.
0:40:53 > 0:40:54There you go.
0:40:54 > 0:40:56The Bills eventually settled for a field goal to open the
0:40:56 > 0:40:57scoring.
0:40:57 > 0:41:00Steven Hauschka going over eventually at 31 yards.
0:41:00 > 0:41:02The Jaguars in business at the 47th, after a
0:41:02 > 0:41:03punt of only 37 yards.
0:41:03 > 0:41:06They have got to get points here, as soon as they
0:41:06 > 0:41:09give you a chance to throw it outside the field, I would take it
0:41:09 > 0:41:13back.
0:41:13 > 0:41:14Here is Blake .
0:41:14 > 0:41:15Stepping up and running.
0:41:15 > 0:41:17Biggest play of the game for the Jacksonville fans,
0:41:17 > 0:41:20all the way down the field goal territory in the 32.
0:41:20 > 0:41:23From here, it would be about a 51 yard field goal if they do not
0:41:23 > 0:41:28manage to pick up anything on 3rd down.
0:41:28 > 0:41:31Able to get away from a sack and again, for another first, Blake
0:41:31 > 0:41:32Bortles doing it with his legs.
0:41:32 > 0:41:35Josh Lambeau's 42 yard field goal tied
0:41:35 > 0:41:43the game at three all going into half-time.
0:41:44 > 0:41:49On 1st down.
0:41:49 > 0:41:51He takes off.
0:41:51 > 0:41:54About the 41.
0:41:54 > 0:41:56Right over the ball, there it is.
0:41:56 > 0:41:59That is Lewis with the catch.
0:41:59 > 0:42:04Extra offensive lineman in the game.
0:42:04 > 0:42:07A lot of teams pass because they are so far
0:42:07 > 0:42:08from the end zone.
0:42:08 > 0:42:10If you are running here, it is because you are
0:42:10 > 0:42:11on 4th down.
0:42:11 > 0:42:12Blake Bortles, hands it over.
0:42:12 > 0:42:13Fournette.
0:42:13 > 0:42:16Up and over and their attempt to deny him.
0:42:16 > 0:42:17Alexander has made a number of big plays.
0:42:17 > 0:42:19What a play by Alexander?
0:42:19 > 0:42:20Look at him here.
0:42:20 > 0:42:22Alexander, pulling him with the back of his foot.
0:42:22 > 0:42:25He could do anything here, but I would still
0:42:25 > 0:42:26give it to my guy.
0:42:26 > 0:42:27Here we go, 4th & goal.
0:42:27 > 0:42:29Blake Bortles stumbles for a moment.
0:42:29 > 0:42:30Up top.
0:42:30 > 0:42:34He has got his man for the touchdown!
0:42:34 > 0:42:36Koyack with the catch!
0:42:36 > 0:42:42Big time throw by Blake Bortles.
0:42:42 > 0:42:45Cover four again.
0:42:45 > 0:42:47Taylor.
0:42:47 > 0:42:51He has got time and now they collapse on him and take him down.
0:42:51 > 0:42:53That was Dante.
0:42:53 > 0:42:57Taylor is down.
0:42:57 > 0:42:58Give us one more look.
0:42:58 > 0:42:59Fowler.
0:42:59 > 0:43:00Takes him.
0:43:00 > 0:43:08The back of his head hits the ground.
0:43:11 > 0:43:14And you can see, that is a pretty decent concussion, most likely.
0:43:14 > 0:43:15Right there.
0:43:15 > 0:43:16Peterman is warming up.
0:43:16 > 0:43:19Peterman, the rookie, got a start at one point of the
0:43:19 > 0:43:20season.
0:43:20 > 0:43:21Here is Peterman in trouble.
0:43:21 > 0:43:24He has got to get rid of it or run with it.
0:43:24 > 0:43:25He has taken off.
0:43:25 > 0:43:26And...
0:43:26 > 0:43:31Got to the 49, which is enough for the first.
0:43:31 > 0:43:33Peterman from the gun, here we go.
0:43:33 > 0:43:34Intercepted by Ramsay!
0:43:34 > 0:43:36Closes it out.
0:43:36 > 0:43:38Taylor and Ramsay up top.
0:43:38 > 0:43:43You might be looking at the future best
0:43:43 > 0:43:45players in the Football League.
0:43:45 > 0:43:50The quarterback jumps and he has got height
0:43:50 > 0:43:51and speed and see the athleticism.
0:43:51 > 0:43:53Unbelievable game, Buffalo unbelievable in the
0:43:53 > 0:43:54playoffs, Jacksonville are going on.
0:43:54 > 0:43:56The organisation has gone through a lot.
0:43:56 > 0:43:57You know what I am saying?
0:43:57 > 0:43:59Guys who have been through here have gone
0:43:59 > 0:44:00through a lot.
0:44:00 > 0:44:03But the people who have gone through it the most have
0:44:03 > 0:44:04been the fans.
0:44:04 > 0:44:06We have not had a home victory since 1999.
0:44:06 > 0:44:08I want to make sure that this game ball goes
0:44:08 > 0:44:10to City Hall.
0:44:10 > 0:44:11For the fans of Jacksonville.
0:44:11 > 0:44:12Great game, great win.
0:44:12 > 0:44:14Now let's go and get another one.
0:44:14 > 0:44:16Let's go and get another one, on three.
0:44:16 > 0:44:17One, two, three...
0:44:17 > 0:44:21Win!
0:44:21 > 0:44:23So Jacksonville progress onto the second seeded
0:44:23 > 0:44:24team where they'll face Ben Roethlisberger and
0:44:24 > 0:44:25the Pittsburgh Steelers.
0:44:25 > 0:44:28It's a repeat of the week 5 game in Pittsburgh where Roethlisberger
0:44:28 > 0:44:33threw a career high 5 interceptions as the Jaguars ran out 30-9 winners.
0:44:33 > 0:44:36Rest assured the Jaguars defence will be targeting Roethlisberger
0:44:36 > 0:44:39and Antonio Brown who looks set to return from a calf injury.
0:44:39 > 0:44:41Tennessee's surprise win in Kansas City is rewarded
0:44:41 > 0:44:44with a trip to a chilly New England.
0:44:44 > 0:44:47The coldest ever game hosted by the Patriots was a divisional
0:44:47 > 0:44:48playoff 14 years ago against...
0:44:48 > 0:44:50Tennessee!
0:44:50 > 0:44:53Conditions are not expected to be quite like the minus 15 degrees
0:44:53 > 0:44:56it was back then but Titans fans still might want to
0:44:56 > 0:44:57pack some thermals.
0:44:57 > 0:44:59And whilst we're at it here's a quick reminder
0:44:59 > 0:45:00of the NFC picture...
0:45:00 > 0:45:02Super Bowl 51 losers Atlanta continue their redemption tour
0:45:02 > 0:45:05as they go to number 1 seeds Philadelphia.
0:45:05 > 0:45:08The Falcons will fancy their chances against an Eagles team
0:45:08 > 0:45:15without Carson Wentz.
0:45:15 > 0:45:18And In the other tie Super Bowl 44 winners New Orleans head
0:45:18 > 0:45:19to Minnesota to face a dangerous Vikings side.
0:45:19 > 0:45:22Cannot think of a player who gets as criticised
0:45:22 > 0:45:23as much as Blake Bortles.
0:45:23 > 0:45:26At the moment and yet he has taken Jacksonville to a divisional game,
0:45:26 > 0:45:28not through his passing, but through his running!
0:45:28 > 0:45:31Listen, he did what ever he had to do to get this team
0:45:31 > 0:45:32to victory.
0:45:32 > 0:45:34Obviously, he ran more than he passed, which is just
0:45:34 > 0:45:36mind-boggling if you think about it.
0:45:36 > 0:45:39But you have to give him credit, man, he hung in there, he knew what
0:45:39 > 0:45:42his strengths were, he kept on training and he tried
0:45:42 > 0:45:43to get the job done.
0:45:43 > 0:45:46You have got to figure it out in the game, right?
0:45:46 > 0:45:47You have got to respond and no...
0:45:47 > 0:45:49And therefore he deserves credit, doesn't he?
0:45:49 > 0:45:50Absolutely!
0:45:50 > 0:45:51The guy...
0:45:51 > 0:45:54He knew it wasn't his day throwing the ball, so
0:45:54 > 0:45:55he knows he can run the ball.
0:45:55 > 0:45:58He was a good runner in college, he said, I
0:45:58 > 0:46:00have to move the chains, give my defense a rest
0:46:00 > 0:46:02and let them win the
0:46:02 > 0:46:03game for me.
0:46:03 > 0:46:06Throwing 12 out of 23 for 87 yards, you know, as you go
0:46:06 > 0:46:07further, that has to be a concern.
0:46:07 > 0:46:11I don't care how good your defense is, you are not going to get much
0:46:11 > 0:46:13further in the playoffs, going 12 423 in 87 yards.
0:46:13 > 0:46:16At some point, they are going to take away their run and
0:46:16 > 0:46:20force you to pass the football and Blake Bortles is going to have to do
0:46:20 > 0:46:21that.
0:46:21 > 0:46:23Which he has shown he has the ability to do
0:46:23 > 0:46:24in spurts this season.
0:46:24 > 0:46:27But as you have both told me, since Super Bowl 50 and Denver
0:46:27 > 0:46:29beating Newton's Carolina, defenses can win
0:46:29 > 0:46:32Super Bowl is and there are not many better defenses out there than
0:46:32 > 0:46:33Jacksonville.
0:46:33 > 0:46:35They can, but ultimately they have to play smart
0:46:35 > 0:46:37football and they happen to be rested,
0:46:37 > 0:46:38so they have to move the
0:46:38 > 0:46:39ball.
0:46:39 > 0:46:41He has to find a way.
0:46:41 > 0:46:42We will see!
0:46:42 > 0:46:43I know!
0:46:43 > 0:46:45But, they just seemed to have a toughness about them.
0:46:45 > 0:46:47And, as we have talked about, this sort
0:46:47 > 0:46:50of chip on their shoulder, that everyone is against them, that they
0:46:50 > 0:46:53are against the world, they talk a lot to that
0:46:53 > 0:46:55Jacksonville defense, publicly, they get into the faces of
0:46:55 > 0:46:58the opposition and I wonder whether it makes you wonder, that is all.
0:46:58 > 0:47:01They are very disrespected team, there is no question about that, but
0:47:01 > 0:47:03I think people disrespect the quarterback more so than anything.
0:47:03 > 0:47:05Everyone knows the type of defense that they
0:47:05 > 0:47:06have, everyone knows the
0:47:06 > 0:47:07personality they have, and the coaching,
0:47:07 > 0:47:09but the quarterback is the
0:47:09 > 0:47:10question mark.
0:47:10 > 0:47:12Now, one of the highlights of the season has been
0:47:12 > 0:47:14the partnership of Jim Nance and Tony Romo.
0:47:14 > 0:47:15In the commentary booth.
0:47:15 > 0:47:18And this actually turned out to be the highlight of the whole game
0:47:18 > 0:47:21between Buffalo and Jacksonville as Blake Bortles went flying off the
0:47:21 > 0:47:23field.
0:47:23 > 0:47:27Now it is Blake Bortles, he is after him.
0:47:27 > 0:47:29Ouch!
0:47:29 > 0:47:32Our guy is able to get back up to his feet in a hurry.
0:47:32 > 0:47:34That is impressive.
0:47:34 > 0:47:40We have at least 100 guys and you can call out their name
0:47:40 > 0:47:41without barely seeing who they are!
0:47:41 > 0:47:43This is our crew, we love them.
0:47:43 > 0:47:44That is fantastic.
0:47:44 > 0:47:45Look out!
0:47:45 > 0:47:47I tell you what, that was one of the harder
0:47:47 > 0:47:48hits!
0:47:48 > 0:47:50Oh, Blake!
0:47:50 > 0:47:53There is the camera.
0:47:53 > 0:48:01It is right in your living room, pal!
0:48:03 > 0:48:04Now they are a great duo.
0:48:04 > 0:48:07What is also interesting, is that Jim said, we love our crew and
0:48:07 > 0:48:10Tony was really surprised that Jim could name all of the camera crew.
0:48:10 > 0:48:12But you love our crew, don't you, Jason?
0:48:12 > 0:48:15So, the camera over there, that has been pointing on new...
0:48:15 > 0:48:16Bell loves my guys!
0:48:16 > 0:48:17Come on, I know everybody's name!
0:48:17 > 0:48:19Man, I cannot put them out there right now!
0:48:19 > 0:48:21This is for security reasons!
0:48:21 > 0:48:22I have to keep things confidential!
0:48:22 > 0:48:24That is it.
0:48:24 > 0:48:26You're not going to break that.
0:48:26 > 0:48:27That is pretty good!
0:48:27 > 0:48:29So, you don't want to reveal...
0:48:29 > 0:48:33I have to get their consent first and I'm not willing to
0:48:33 > 0:48:34go there!
0:48:34 > 0:48:35Osi, camera four?
0:48:35 > 0:48:36Who is that?
0:48:36 > 0:48:37That is my guy, Tim.
0:48:37 > 0:48:39Tim, definitely?
0:48:39 > 0:48:40Camera two?
0:48:40 > 0:48:43We have got Tommy.
0:48:43 > 0:48:44Camera one, over there?
0:48:44 > 0:48:46That is Graham.
0:48:46 > 0:48:47Yeah!
0:48:47 > 0:48:48Those are my guys.
0:48:48 > 0:48:50You're going to get them in trouble!
0:48:50 > 0:48:53You are supposed to know about that, J Bell!
0:48:53 > 0:48:56Before we go a quick reminder the NFL Show is back after Match

0:49:42 > 0:49:44On come the Minnesota Vikings.
0:49:44 > 0:49:46Tighter defense, even tighter in their determination to be
0:49:46 > 0:49:54the first team to play in the Super Bowl they will host.
0:49:56 > 0:49:58And better believe it, B for beautiful bedlam.
0:49:58 > 0:50:01Only in the NFL.
