:07:48. > :08:03.was a mess. The men's all-round team final gets
:08:04. > :08:10.under way in around 20 minutes. It was a watershed moment in London
:08:11. > :08:17.when they won bronze. They got knocked down to bronze after a
:08:18. > :08:21.successful appeal from Japan. Up in Glasgow the World Championships they

:08:25. > :08:31.only finished fifth in qualification. They will start on
:08:32. > :08:41.the rings and end on the pole which is not ideal. Max Whitlock became
:08:42. > :08:46.Britain's first-ever champion when he won gold in the pommel. It puts
:08:47. > :08:52.pressure on them for the final event. Hopefully if they get a
:08:53. > :08:56.bronze and emulate what they did in London that will be a fantastic
:08:57. > :08:58.achievement. One of the most eagerly anticipated

:09:48. > :09:57.the British record was nearly beaten. The woman to beat is the

:10:11. > :10:23.In the 200 metre freestyle, K Taylor decade -- Katie from the USA is the

:10:28. > :10:30.Well, there could be more success in the pool tonight
:10:31. > :10:33.because Tom Daley is Britain's big medal hope in the men's synchronised

:10:40. > :10:41.He and Goodfellow are strongly fancied to make the podium again
:10:42. > :10:49.Of course you're going to every competition wanting to win the medal
:10:50. > :10:53.so it is about me and Dan going in there and being cool and calm and
:10:54. > :10:56.collected and died like we did in practice because of we do that we
:10:57. > :11:01.will be right up there. The fascinating thing is that this
:11:02. > :11:03.is outdoors and that opens up a whole new realm because previously
:11:04. > :11:13.it hasn't been. It will be tricky because all the
:11:14. > :11:19.events start at 4pm when it is sunny and light and at the end it could be

:11:43. > :12:03.Team GB managed to avoid the favourites and are facing New
:12:04. > :12:09.Zealand. It is still half-time and 14-0 to Canada. The first week --
:12:10. > :12:21.the first time we have seen rugby sevens in the Olympics and it has
:12:22. > :12:24.done wonders for the sport. I love the Olympics because you put
:12:25. > :12:30.it on in the background and end up watching things you never thought
:12:31. > :12:39.you would like judo and gymnastics. To have rugby there is great for our
:12:40. > :12:45.game. It puts it on the world stage again. It is such a good spectacle
:12:46. > :12:50.for our game and people can go along and watch it and understand what is
:12:51. > :12:52.going on. It is exciting and fast and good for everyone.
:12:53. > :12:55.How are people taking to rugby sevens on it's first
:12:56. > :13:11.It has been mixed. Rugby is not widely played in Brazil, like
:13:12. > :13:18.hockey. Ticket sales have not been great. The RFU have done a lot to
:13:19. > :13:30.promote the game in poor communities but it needs a boost. At this
:13:31. > :13:36.stadium, it is at least two hours' drive away from Rio. It is not very
:13:37. > :13:49.well thought out, I don't think. If they were closer to the main Olympic
:13:50. > :13:52.Park you would not see these spaces. England are probably fancy to get
:13:53. > :13:56.through to the final which would take place later on tonight where
:13:57. > :14:01.they would get at least a silver medal and if they beat the
:14:02. > :14:05.Australians then a gold medal. Plenty of encouragement despite the
:14:06. > :14:12.lack of local support. Let's continue the watery theme
:14:13. > :14:14.and turn our attention The defending Olympic champions
:14:15. > :14:17.Helen Glover and Heather Stanning are through to the semi-finals
:14:18. > :14:19.of the women's pair. They had to beat off a determined
:14:20. > :14:23.challenge from Denmark in the heats which was the highlight of a good
:14:24. > :14:36.day on the lake for Team GB. Blustery and Brazil yesterday but
:14:37. > :14:41.cloudy and Camara today. That really happens, not for the most formidable
:14:42. > :14:44.in the sport. They haven't been beaten since 2011. But Denmark
:14:45. > :14:50.looked like beating that records did with through the sheet and an
:14:51. > :14:55.unusually nervy finale ensued. They have made it but been made to
:14:56. > :14:59.fight for their victory. This is the biggest test that they have had and
:15:00. > :15:06.is on the opening chart of their heat.
:15:07. > :15:10.Into the semis but work to do. The men's four are also defending their
:15:11. > :15:16.title. The last time the returned without gold was 1986. The
:15:17. > :15:26.competition was for who would finish second. Especially in the men's
:15:27. > :15:34.date. They have comfortably qualify for the final with the promise of
:15:35. > :15:40.more to come. If we cannot get our fists out, we
:15:41. > :15:45.will get our auras out. You have lost the energy to fight, that will
:15:46. > :15:52.and desire. We have got a few more sessions to go, each of those is
:15:53. > :15:55.warming up on that one last fight. The women's eight stunned New
:15:56. > :16:00.Zealand to join the men in the final. This boat has never won a
:16:01. > :16:06.medal at the Olympics. They may never have a better chance.
:16:07. > :16:12.That was the mission. I'm so proud of the way that we kind of came out
:16:13. > :16:20.here with a bang and set ourselves up for Saturday's final.
:16:21. > :16:28.The dominance could not be continued. They have work to do to
:16:29. > :16:36.continue in the sculls final, finishing last in their heat.
:16:37. > :16:40.So a busy day on the water, here are the thoughts of five-time
:16:41. > :16:47.Olympic gold medallist Sir Steve Redgrave.
:16:48. > :16:55.Success breeds success and with the same support team there he has got a
:16:56. > :16:59.formula to produce great athletes and that is what they have been
:17:00. > :17:05.doing year after year. Which ever bought to put the top guys in, if it
:17:06. > :17:15.is the eighth, they win the championship, if it is the four,
:17:16. > :17:18.they win that. The Italians have been working harder but all boats
:17:19. > :17:25.are around at the same time. Still a lot of hard work to do but probably
:17:26. > :17:27.they are the most impressive of the three boats.
