:00:00. > :00:08.Hello, I'm Olly Foster, these are our Olympic Sportsday headlines.

:00:09. > :00:11.Back in the golden groove, Dujardin tops the podium again

:00:12. > :00:19.with another virtuoso routine with Valegro.

:00:20. > :00:21.Going hammer and bronze - Hitchon gets a medal

:00:22. > :00:29.Will it be the joy of six for Mark Cavendish?

:00:30. > :00:33.He's well placed with two races to go in the omnium.

:00:34. > :00:38.A big surprise in the boxing as one of Ireland's biggest

:00:39. > :00:48.stars, the Olympic champ Katie Taylor, is beaten.

:00:49. > :00:51.Evening, we are into the last week of competition at the games.

:00:52. > :00:54.It was a frantic middle weekend in Rio de Janeiro with 8 golds

:00:55. > :00:57.for Team GB to pull themselves up to second in the medal table.

:00:58. > :01:01.It will be asking a lot for them to stay there but they are on course

:01:02. > :01:14.for a record haul at an overseas Olympics.

:01:15. > :01:22.Today's she retained her individual Olympic title.

:01:23. > :01:30.Another games, another golden moment in the theatre of dressage, one

:01:31. > :01:35.British Olympian is a superstar. They have been the stars of the

:01:36. > :01:41.sport worldwide since London 2012, other going to stay there? The

:01:42. > :01:52.dancing horses may not pull the crowds but for Charlotte Dujardin

:01:53. > :01:58.this sport is a sensation. In Rio, she raised the bar again. To the

:01:59. > :02:02.sounds of the carnival, the Britain and her horse Valegro in perfect

:02:03. > :02:09.harmony. She strives for perfection and she delivered. We've seen it,

:02:10. > :02:17.you're going to see it in a moment! 93.928! Now they've got to go. Can

:02:18. > :02:20.they ever take that away? There were four riders still to perform, but

:02:21. > :02:27.most here knew they would never get close. When Germany's Isabell Werth

:02:28. > :02:32.finished with a silver medal winning score, it was confirmed. I'm

:02:33. > :02:37.actually a little bit speechless for once in my life. It means the

:02:38. > :02:43.absolute world to me to come out there and finish off being

:02:44. > :02:47.individual gold medallist. Trying to repeat what I had in London. I had

:02:48. > :02:53.no expectation and pressure to go out there, today, I felt a lot of

:02:54. > :02:59.pressure and expectation and the mean, it could be one of the last

:03:00. > :03:03.rides on Valegro. There is talk of retirement for him so funny to

:03:04. > :03:15.finish it in this way, it is a really emotional time. -- for me to

:03:16. > :03:19.finish it. With this she becomes the first British woman to retain an

:03:20. > :03:23.individual Olympic title. In dressage they come to expect her

:03:24. > :03:28.dominance, now Charlotte Dujardin is among the Olympic greats.

:03:29. > :03:35.Let's cross to the Olympic Park and speak to our correspondent.

:03:36. > :03:38.There's that Monday feeling that follows a heavy weekend, that medal

:03:39. > :03:44.overload for Great Britain, and nothing like another medal

:03:45. > :04:04.It is certainly not raining medals for Team GB as it was yesterday in

:04:05. > :04:10.what will become known for ever more as Super Sunday, but yes, Sophie

:04:11. > :04:14.Hitchon has given Team GB and unexpected bronze in the hammer. It

:04:15. > :04:23.looked as though she would finish without a medal until her very last

:04:24. > :04:28.row and then there's 74.54 metres. A British record and Team GB's first

:04:29. > :04:33.ever Olympic hammer medal. Unbelievable stuff from the

:04:34. > :04:35.25-year-old from Burnley and this was her reaction afterwards.

:04:36. > :04:37.I've said, training has been going really well.

:04:38. > :04:40.The distance wasn't really expected but to get a bronze medal,

:04:41. > :04:45.You set the tone with a really big throw, getting in

:04:46. > :04:48.Were you thinking it could be your day?

:04:49. > :04:59.The girls were all throwing really well.

:05:00. > :05:02.They can always produce their best in the last round.

:05:03. > :05:03.I didn't expect that would hold third.

:05:04. > :05:07.I just knew that I wanted to throw further and executed my technique.

:05:08. > :05:10.I missed it on a few, but I knew it was going to go if I just

:05:11. > :05:15.A lot of the British medals have been firsts.

:05:16. > :05:25.British woman to three golds, Max Whitlock making history

:05:26. > :05:30.in gymnastics and let's just look back at Andy Murray late last night,

:05:31. > :05:34.a raucous atmosphere at the tennis centre, as he became the first man

:05:35. > :05:49.Perhaps this one was expected. I was in the tennis centre last night. It

:05:50. > :05:55.was exhausting just watching him against his opponents del Potro.

:05:56. > :06:00.There was plenty from Argentina inside the arena last night and the

:06:01. > :06:04.Brazilians, who we know have a big rivalry with Argentina, where all

:06:05. > :06:09.behind Andy Murray. 3-1 in sets to Andy Murray. He adores the Olympic

:06:10. > :06:15.Games, he was so emotional afterwards. What a year it has been

:06:16. > :06:19.for the world's number two. Second Wimbledon title and successfully

:06:20. > :06:23.defending his Olympic title here as well. The tears always flow from

:06:24. > :06:28.Andy Murray when we get these big wins from here. Fabulous form from

:06:29. > :06:30.him. This was his reaction after that.

:06:31. > :06:36.Four hours or so and a lot of ups and downs as

:06:37. > :06:40.Yeah, it's been a great few months for me, I'm very happy with

:06:41. > :06:44.how my tennis is going, obviously, and I'm proud to have won another

:06:45. > :06:59.I just about managed to stay up for Andy Murray's match-point last

:07:00. > :07:01.match-point last night, but couldn't make it

:07:02. > :07:10.The treble-treble is still on for Usian Bolt.

:07:11. > :07:16.Usain Bolt is quite simply box office. Not a seat to be had in the

:07:17. > :07:21.Olympic Stadium here in Rio last night and the fastest man on the

:07:22. > :07:25.planet did not disappoint. He usually starts slowly, he did last

:07:26. > :07:32.night that after about four seconds, he was never in doubt. No world

:07:33. > :07:37.record, but what a performance once again from Usain Bolt. The crowd

:07:38. > :07:44.absolutely loved him. He breezed across the line and the treble

:07:45. > :07:48.treble very much on. He lights up track and field. Also last night,

:07:49. > :07:55.one man he was in danger of healing is thunder was the South African

:07:56. > :08:00.Wayde van Niekerk. He smashed the 400 metre record. A record, Michael

:08:01. > :08:09.Johnson's record that has stood since 1999. 43.03 four Wayde van

:08:10. > :08:19.Niekerk. Unbelievable run from them and this was Michael Johnson's

:08:20. > :08:23.reaction to his record going. It was great to see, as a fan of sport, you

:08:24. > :08:29.want to see this sort of thing. You never know how long record is going

:08:30. > :08:34.to last. It could last another 1920 years, that it could be broken next

:08:35. > :08:40.year. It could be broken again by him. That is what makes it so

:08:41. > :08:45.special. It is always a joy and a surprise to see a world record

:08:46. > :08:54.broken and these championships, this atmosphere needed it. To get people

:08:55. > :09:00.going, we saw the first day the 10,000 metre record, and tonight, I

:09:01. > :09:05.said this was going to outshine the 100 metres. I think it has.

:09:06. > :09:08.In a weeks time, Rio will start gearing up for the Paralympics that

:09:09. > :09:10.starts on 7th September, but we're hearing that

:09:11. > :09:13.many of the competing nations might struggle to get their athletes

:09:14. > :09:30.This is something that started off as a concerned that has quickly

:09:31. > :09:33.edged towards a crisis. The organising committee gathered cash

:09:34. > :09:40.from sponsorship and ticket sales, they give the cash to the Paralympic

:09:41. > :09:46.committee, they then castigate that cash to their members across the

:09:47. > :09:49.world, 160 nations will be here for the beginning of the games, but they

:09:50. > :09:55.don't have the money. The Olympic Committee here, Rio 2016 committee,

:09:56. > :09:59.do not have the money as it stands. They can't get the money to the

:10:00. > :10:05.committees and for that reason around 50 countries have intimated

:10:06. > :10:09.they may not be able to travel here unless they get that cash. The

:10:10. > :10:13.government may well step in. We spoke to the organisers today. They

:10:14. > :10:18.say they are working hard but at the moment this is edging from a concern

:10:19. > :10:21.to a crisis. Fingers crossed they sort everything out. For now, thanks

:10:22. > :10:23.for now. Let's head to the velodrome,

:10:24. > :10:25.because Mark Cavendish is still in the bronze medal

:10:26. > :10:29.position in the omnium with two out He was lying in third overnight

:10:30. > :10:34.and in the first event of the day, the kilo time trial,

:10:35. > :10:36.Cavendish posted the With the flying lap and the points

:10:37. > :10:41.race still to come later this evening the Manx Missile is now

:10:42. > :10:47.level with Thomas Boudat of France. They are 14 points behind

:10:48. > :10:50.the leader, Italy's Elia Viviani. He told the BBC's Jill Douglas

:10:51. > :10:53.and Sir Chris Hoy it will all come There are five or six

:10:54. > :11:02.guys who can win this. I should have gone

:11:03. > :11:28.in a straight line. People think it is

:11:29. > :11:30.Jack of all trades. It is not heptathlon,

:11:31. > :11:32.it is modern pentathlon style. You do your first five events

:11:33. > :11:36.and then it is handicap points. Laura Trott has made an excellent

:11:37. > :11:39.start in her omnium as she goes She was second in the first

:11:40. > :11:51.event, the points race - Trott was actually first

:11:52. > :11:54.across the line but Tatsiana Sharakova of Belarus had gained

:11:55. > :11:56.a lap on the field earlier in the race so she leads

:11:57. > :12:03.Trott by two points. Their next race, the individual

:12:04. > :12:06.pursuit, is at 8.30 UK time. Britain's Becky James

:12:07. > :12:08.and Katy Marchant are into the quarter-finals in the individual

:12:09. > :12:10.sprint - both had an easy draw after qualifying

:12:11. > :12:12.first and second fastest. James beat France's Virginie Cueff

:12:13. > :12:14.to reach the last 8. She's already broken

:12:15. > :12:16.Vicky Pendleton's Olympic record in qualifying,

:12:17. > :12:18.annd won a silver medal Katy Marchant beat Germany's

:12:19. > :12:23.Miriam Welte to also reach on in the race, but had enough speed

:12:24. > :12:29.to come back and win it The quarter-finals start tomorrow

:12:30. > :12:33.at two o'clock UK time. To the boxing and Team GB's

:12:34. > :12:36.Mohammad Ali has lost his flyweight was beaten in a unanimous decision

:12:37. > :12:43.by the Venezuelan Yoel Finol - he's ranked twelfth

:12:44. > :12:45.in the world and goes This was Ali's first fight

:12:46. > :12:50.at an Olympic Games but it I thought I was up after the first

:12:51. > :12:59.and I heard I was down. All the hard work I've put in just

:13:00. > :13:12.gone to waste. Big upset in the women's boxing,

:13:13. > :13:17.Ireland's olympic lightweight The five-time world-champion

:13:18. > :13:21.beaten in a split decision after a very even fight

:13:22. > :13:24.against Finland's Mira Potkonen Keri-Anne Payne was trying to get

:13:25. > :13:41.back on the podium in the marathon open water swimming,

:13:42. > :13:44.it's actually 10 kilometres. She took silver in Beijing,

:13:45. > :13:47.was fourth in London but was seventh in the waters off

:13:48. > :13:54.Copacabana this afternoon. Let's head there now

:13:55. > :14:01.and speak to Julia Carneiro. Julia, they had to slightly

:14:02. > :14:04.change their plans at the start because the pontoon

:14:05. > :14:23.they were supposed to dive off, Yes, exactly. That was last week

:14:24. > :14:27.because of the heavy waves. The pontoon got damaged and there wasn't

:14:28. > :14:30.enough time to rebuild it. I'll just show you where the circuit was. If

:14:31. > :14:36.you look at the sand, that is where the swimmers had to start the race.

:14:37. > :14:42.They then had to swim for around 300 metres and reach the circuit which

:14:43. > :14:47.was close to the boats in the background and went backwards and

:14:48. > :14:54.forwards towards Sugarloaf and quite scenic marathon. You may remember

:14:55. > :14:59.this view from the World Cup. There was some controversy. We are keeping

:15:00. > :15:10.our eye out for Keri-Anne Payne, that she was a long way off the

:15:11. > :15:17.pace. Yes, she had had a frustrating result in London, coming forth and

:15:18. > :15:21.missing out on a medal. Now she had said she had prepared very well for

:15:22. > :15:25.this time. She seemed to be very confident, she said she had prepared

:15:26. > :15:33.for very adverse conditions but it seems the conditions here did not

:15:34. > :15:39.work for her. It wasn't my kind of conditions for me today. The top

:15:40. > :15:43.girls, the girl but one, they are really good flat swimmers and the

:15:44. > :15:47.World Championships was glass. The last two days this has been really

:15:48. > :15:52.wavy and today we arrived and there's been absolutely no wind or

:15:53. > :16:02.waves. Those girls are world-class and that is what the Olympics is all

:16:03. > :16:09.about. The Dutch woman came out on top by quite a long way. Yes, 16

:16:10. > :16:12.seconds ahead of the others that it was quite a dramatic finish because

:16:13. > :16:20.one of the winners ended up being stripped of her title.

:16:21. > :16:25.France's Aurelie Muller has her silver medal taken away

:16:26. > :16:28.after replays show she effectively grappled Italy's Rachele Bruni out

:16:29. > :16:42.of the way in a desperately close finish.

:16:43. > :16:53.The Italians swimmer was then moved into silver. And a Brazilian swimmer

:16:54. > :17:06.and then got bronze which was of course very celebrated here.

:17:07. > :17:16.The first ever medal for aquatic marathon on here in Brazil.

:17:17. > :17:20.Let's just break away from the Olympics for a moment

:17:21. > :17:22.and give you some of the other headlines closer to home.

:17:23. > :17:23.Everton have signed Yannick Bolasie

:17:24. > :17:29.The Congo international spent four seasons with Palace

:17:30. > :17:32.He played 143 times for Palace scoring 13 goals -

:17:33. > :17:34.including this in last season's FA Cup semi-final

:17:35. > :17:39.He came on as a substitute in Saturday's 1-0 defeat by West Brom.

:17:40. > :17:45.Bolasie says the move to Merseyside is a "no-brainer".

:17:46. > :17:47.Chelsea and West Ham get their season's underway

:17:48. > :17:50.New signings Michy Batshuayi and N'Golo Kante should

:17:51. > :17:53.make their Chelsea debuts in what will be Antonio Conte's

:17:54. > :18:15.It is the first time for me and to start with a derby is a bit tough

:18:16. > :18:26.and I am excited. It is important that my players must be the right

:18:27. > :18:34.willing. Willing to start in the right way because it is important to

:18:35. > :18:39.start in the right way, to take confident,.

:18:40. > :18:52.Tough game, big game, a great manager. He is one of them who wants

:18:53. > :18:57.to put his stamp on the team. He wants not just to continue what the

:18:58. > :19:04.previous manager or managers have done. He wants to change the way

:19:05. > :19:11.they approach the game, change the principles, change the nature of the

:19:12. > :19:12.game. He is one of them. That is why he is so high.

:19:13. > :19:17.Tributes have been paid today to Dalian Atkinson,

:19:18. > :19:19.the former Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa

:19:20. > :19:22.striker who died after being hit by a police taser in the early

:19:23. > :19:34.This goal against Wimbledon in '92 was the Match of the Day's

:19:35. > :19:36.first premier League goal of the season.

:19:37. > :19:38.His former manager Ron Atkinson said he always played

:19:39. > :19:41.Dozens of teamates have taken to social media

:19:42. > :20:01.Back to Rio now and let's have a quick look round some

:20:02. > :20:06.Great news for Team GB in the badminton doubles.

:20:07. > :20:08.Chris Langridge and Marcus Ellis, ranked

:20:09. > :20:10.22nd in the world, are through to the semi-finals.

:20:11. > :20:12.They beat the world number 8 pair, Japan's Hiroyuki Endo

:20:13. > :20:16.That makes them the first Britons to reach the last four

:20:17. > :20:18.since Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms in Athens in 2004.

:20:19. > :20:26.They'll face China's Fu Haifeng and Zhang Nan on Tuesday.

:20:27. > :20:29.Team GB's Rajiv Ouseph is due to play his last-16 singles match

:20:30. > :20:33.British pair Katie Clark and Olivia Federici were eliminated

:20:34. > :20:35.from the synchronised swimming duets after the preliminary stage.

:20:36. > :20:38.The British pair needed to be in the top 12

:20:39. > :20:43.following the technical routine but the pair finished in 17th.

:20:44. > :20:45.Great Britain's Jess Walker finished fourth in her semi-final

:20:46. > :20:48.of the Women's 200 metre single kayak, that's not good

:20:49. > :20:53.Lani Belcher and Angela Hannah finished seventh in the semi-final

:20:54. > :21:04.Yesterday's brilliant performance by Team GB saw Britain rocket

:21:05. > :21:10.It was helped by two golds within an hour

:21:11. > :21:15.In between, Justin Rose won the golf tournament.

:21:16. > :21:17.The pair have been reflecting on their achievements today -

:21:18. > :21:19.first here's Whitlock talking with our sports correspondent

:21:20. > :21:32.I'm still speechless. Therein in what to say. It was a crazy day.

:21:33. > :21:35.It's been a lot of hard work and you don't get long to show how long

:21:36. > :21:42.you've been working on something. You get about one minute. I managed

:21:43. > :21:47.to pull it out on boat. It's been incredible and we can walk away

:21:48. > :21:53.feeling over the moon. I trained as hard as I possibly could to compete

:21:54. > :21:56.with the world's best and I go in with confidence that I've done a

:21:57. > :22:01.good build-up and I was happy. If I'd done that, I can't ask for any

:22:02. > :22:08.more. It has paid off massively. I've got a lot of people to come --

:22:09. > :22:12.going see here. Hopefully I get to see the country a bit. Got about a

:22:13. > :22:17.week here which is really nice. I can't wait to get home. Celebrate

:22:18. > :22:23.with everyone, go and see my club, South Essex, and see my family

:22:24. > :22:29.again. Enjoy the moment. I'm taking a bit of a rest but I'm looking

:22:30. > :22:31.forward to having a few holidays and then getting stuck back in again. I

:22:32. > :22:40.can't wait. The importance of it was huge for

:22:41. > :22:46.me. It's been a target of mine for a long time. Given the slightly slow

:22:47. > :22:50.summer that I've heard, it's been something that's been on the horizon

:22:51. > :22:54.for me for quite awhile. It's been a focal point and for everything to

:22:55. > :22:58.come together for me yesterday was incredibly exciting. The Olympic

:22:59. > :23:03.experience as a whole has exceeded all of my expectations. It has been

:23:04. > :23:10.just so wonderful and so many different levels. The camaraderie

:23:11. > :23:14.among the players has been incredible, I've really enjoyed

:23:15. > :23:18.getting to share and swap stories with other athletes on Team GB.

:23:19. > :23:22.Learning a bit more about other sports. Identifying what makes them

:23:23. > :23:26.great and trying to pull a little bit of that into my own sport.

:23:27. > :23:29.Hearing comments from guys who weren't really in contention for

:23:30. > :23:33.being on the podium talking positively about this being one of

:23:34. > :23:37.the best golfing weeks of their lives, says it all. It's easy to sit

:23:38. > :23:40.here with a gold medal and say it's been an incredible experience but

:23:41. > :23:49.for me, it was deeper than just the guys who have had finished on the

:23:50. > :23:53.podium. Justin Rose with the first golf gold in 100 years.

:23:54. > :23:59.Let's look at how things stand in the medal table.

:24:00. > :24:07.They were third at the medal table in London but they are looking to

:24:08. > :24:11.get more than 48 than they did in Beijing. There is still another week

:24:12. > :24:16.of competition to break the overseas record but it could be something
