0:00:02 > 0:00:05- Gabby!- Hi, Greg. Are you excited? - Yes. So excited.

0:00:05 > 0:00:10I'm going to take you on a journey - the top 50 Olympic moments of London 2012, Part 2.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13- Right.- We're going from 20 down to 1.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16What about 50 to 21?

0:00:16 > 0:00:19Don't you remember we did that show? Stood right here.

0:00:19 > 0:00:21OK. Here's a reminder.

0:00:27 > 0:00:28# I love London! #

0:00:31 > 0:00:33Moving on now, we're down to number 20,

0:00:33 > 0:00:36and it's time to pay tribute to the women's coxless pair

0:00:36 > 0:00:40who lifted a nation that found itself very much up the creek without a paddle or any gold medals.

0:00:40 > 0:00:43- HE LAUGHS - What is it now?

0:00:43 > 0:00:45It's coxless!

0:00:45 > 0:00:46It's Glover and Stanning.

0:00:46 > 0:00:49Every morning we'd go in, right, in the early days,

0:00:49 > 0:00:53because there was an enormous office that the BBC had.

0:00:53 > 0:00:57All the presenters working ready for the day and researching what they were going to do,

0:00:57 > 0:01:01and there was this thing about who's going to get the first gold medal? On whose watch will it be?

0:01:03 > 0:01:08I remember saying to Gary Lineker, "That's it, mate, I'm off. We're definitely getting the first gold."

0:01:08 > 0:01:10When it came to that Wednesday morning,

0:01:10 > 0:01:14it was up to two very unsung heroes to actually break the duck.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17COMMENTATOR: Great Britain into the record books

0:01:17 > 0:01:20and such fabulously well done there!

0:01:21 > 0:01:24It was just a phenomenal race, and I was sitting on the end of my bed.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27I was only about a kilometre away from the finishing line

0:01:27 > 0:01:31but we weren't down at the course, we were resting up, and I was sort of welling up.

0:01:31 > 0:01:33I was so proud of them.

0:01:33 > 0:01:37So great, really, that Helen and Heather got that first gold,

0:01:37 > 0:01:38relatively unknowns, you know.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41And I think that kind of set up the momentum for the fact that,

0:01:41 > 0:01:44"You know what? There's going to be lots of other Olympians coming through

0:01:44 > 0:01:49"that maybe we haven't heard of that actually maybe could achieve the most incredible things."

0:01:49 > 0:01:53I'm absolutely shattered and ecstatic all at the same time and...

0:01:53 > 0:01:55I want to collapse but I'm just so overjoyed and...

0:01:55 > 0:02:00I just want to jump around at the same time today! Probably talking rubbish now as well!

0:02:00 > 0:02:04They didn't just give the rowing team a boost, they gave the whole nation a boost.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06Not just sport. I mean, everybody loved it.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09And another chance for Sir Steve to give out the hugs.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12Now, someone we all wanted to give a big hug to was Gemma Gibbons.

0:02:12 > 0:02:16Gemma was ranked 42nd in the world at judo.

0:02:16 > 0:02:20But she used the memory of her late mother to inspire her to Olympic glory.

0:02:20 > 0:02:24She touched the hearts of millions, and that's why she's number 19.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28It probably was, well...

0:02:28 > 0:02:32the most emotional few moments out there.

0:02:35 > 0:02:39She felt her mum was there and her mum was watching and... Oh!

0:02:43 > 0:02:45It's kind of...

0:02:45 > 0:02:47comes back now, how...

0:02:48 > 0:02:49Erm...

0:02:49 > 0:02:53How... You know, it's sort of bittersweet for her in a way,

0:02:53 > 0:02:55that her mum wasn't there but she felt she was

0:02:55 > 0:02:57and she just looked up...

0:02:58 > 0:03:03The moment she looked skyward and said, "I love you, Mum..."

0:03:05 > 0:03:08Honestly, it nearly broke my heart.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10'My mum died eight years ago and...'

0:03:10 > 0:03:14Probably it's been in the last couple of years that I've actually

0:03:14 > 0:03:16started to talk about her and...

0:03:16 > 0:03:21Ask any of my friends. It's not something that I just generally talk about.

0:03:21 > 0:03:25But now I've had to talk about it quite a lot over the last couple of months.

0:03:25 > 0:03:29How emotionally draining was that semi-final?

0:03:29 > 0:03:33And then to prepare to come out for the final.

0:03:33 > 0:03:37She was just such an inspirational person,

0:03:37 > 0:03:39and to come away with that medal... Oh!

0:03:39 > 0:03:42It was one of THE most moving moments of the Games.

0:03:42 > 0:03:46'I think I did pretty good, and, yeah, that's what I was here to do.

0:03:46 > 0:03:49'That was my job on the day to come away with an Olympic medal'

0:03:49 > 0:03:52and I managed that. I wish I could've made it gold.

0:03:52 > 0:03:54But maybe in Rio.

0:03:55 > 0:03:58If she gets there, she'll have plenty of fans, no doubt,

0:03:58 > 0:04:01but Rio will have one hell of an act to follow.

0:04:01 > 0:04:05One of the most memorable aspects of the Games was the change in attitude of the Great British public.

0:04:05 > 0:04:09We were positive and optimistic. We proved the doubters wrong.

0:04:09 > 0:04:12No more was this evident than through the work of the volunteers.

0:04:12 > 0:04:15The Games-makers brought smiles to people's faces

0:04:15 > 0:04:17and made a nation proud.

0:04:17 > 0:04:21And we also proudly salute the work of the armed forces and the police.

0:04:21 > 0:04:25This feel-good factor was very... un-British, but we loved it.

0:04:25 > 0:04:26Gabs, do you know what?

0:04:26 > 0:04:28Out of all the sports we have seen today,

0:04:28 > 0:04:30gymnastics is the one I want to take up.

0:04:30 > 0:04:33That's great that it's captured your imagination.

0:04:33 > 0:04:35It's not so much that, it's the fact that it would be nice

0:04:35 > 0:04:38to have an actual reason to wear a leotard for a change.

0:04:38 > 0:04:40Ugh, that is such a disgusting image.

0:04:40 > 0:04:42You just get good support.

0:04:42 > 0:04:44I'll be carrying it around in my head all day.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47At number 18, it's my new favourite sport - gymnastics.

0:04:47 > 0:04:49And it is our Louis.

0:04:59 > 0:05:01The last six, seven years,

0:05:01 > 0:05:04all the interviews I've done was about to this moment.

0:05:04 > 0:05:05This was the one.

0:05:05 > 0:05:08TANNOY: Representing Great Britain, Louis Smith.

0:05:08 > 0:05:13I remember, I first met Louis when he had just got into his teens.

0:05:13 > 0:05:15He came on to Blue Peter actually.

0:05:15 > 0:05:20On Blue Peter, I'm pretty sure I had the hair plaits going back.

0:05:20 > 0:05:23That was superbly executed, it really was. How often do you train?

0:05:23 > 0:05:27I train six days a week at Huntingdon Gymnastics Club.

0:05:27 > 0:05:31My voice didn't really sound right, it was quite squeaky.

0:05:31 > 0:05:36To see what he has achieved in his career is just brilliant.

0:05:36 > 0:05:41COMMENTATOR: The absolute expert on this apparatus.

0:05:41 > 0:05:45Everyone kind of remembers the time when I cried at the Olympic Games.

0:05:45 > 0:05:49COMMENTATOR: That's a champion's performance.

0:05:50 > 0:05:52So, when I finally did my first routine

0:05:52 > 0:05:56and I gave myself the opportunity to qualify for the final, it was

0:05:56 > 0:06:00just kind of, everything just kind of came out of me.

0:06:00 > 0:06:03All the pressure that I'd been pretending wasn't there,

0:06:03 > 0:06:06all the expectation, you know, it just came rushing off

0:06:06 > 0:06:08and I just felt a completely different human.

0:06:17 > 0:06:19As soon as I landed, I knew, you know,

0:06:19 > 0:06:22it had all the ingredients to win a gold medal.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25CHEERING

0:06:25 > 0:06:28Louis Smith, all I'll say on Louis Smith is he was robbed.

0:06:28 > 0:06:30He is incredibly nice about it, very gracious.

0:06:30 > 0:06:31I've met him a few times since

0:06:31 > 0:06:34and he's very nice about the whole thing. He was literally robbed.

0:06:34 > 0:06:39COMMENTATOR: It's a tie. It's 16.066.

0:06:39 > 0:06:44Now, because the execution score was slightly lower than Berki's,

0:06:44 > 0:06:46Berki will take gold.

0:06:46 > 0:06:50You know, I've been competing against Krisztian Berki since 2006.

0:06:50 > 0:06:54Sometimes he beats me, I beat him, he beats me.

0:06:54 > 0:06:57And on that day, you know, he won.

0:06:57 > 0:06:59From silver on the pommel horse for Louis,

0:06:59 > 0:07:01to gold on a real horse for Charlotte.

0:07:01 > 0:07:04Unbelievably, the Brits are good at dressage - who knew?

0:07:04 > 0:07:07I've never really seen dressage before so

0:07:07 > 0:07:11when I turned on my telly and I saw a bunch of dancing horses

0:07:11 > 0:07:14and I checked to see whether it was the Olympics,

0:07:14 > 0:07:16it was the Olympics, I carried on watching.

0:07:16 > 0:07:18It was completely extraordinary.

0:07:18 > 0:07:20It's one of those mysterious sports

0:07:20 > 0:07:21that I think you get,

0:07:21 > 0:07:25you know, lots of people wouldn't have chosen to watch

0:07:25 > 0:07:28but because it was there, they're like, "Oh. Ohh. Oh!"

0:07:32 > 0:07:35I think the genius was they didn't put dressage at the beginning.

0:07:35 > 0:07:38If they had put dressage on the first two days,

0:07:38 > 0:07:41I would have gone, "Well, this is, I'm not interested in this at all."

0:07:41 > 0:07:45But they put it on when it really mattered how many golds we had

0:07:45 > 0:07:49so I sat there happily watching horses dance for two hours,

0:07:49 > 0:07:52punching the air. Genius.

0:07:52 > 0:07:56I was in Nando's with my mates, having some lunch,

0:07:56 > 0:07:58and then I'm eating some food and halfway through,

0:07:58 > 0:08:01I dropped my cutlery and I went, "Oh, no!" And my mates are all like,

0:08:01 > 0:08:04"Nathan, what's wrong? Is it the food? What's going on?"

0:08:04 > 0:08:09And I went, "Oh, no. I forgot to Sky Plus the dressage."

0:08:09 > 0:08:11When have you ever heard a young black guy say,

0:08:11 > 0:08:13"I forgot to Sky Plus the dressage"?

0:08:13 > 0:08:18COMMENTATOR: She's going for gold. Charlotte Dujardin for Great Britain.

0:08:18 > 0:08:21Yes, the golden girl of the British team was Charlotte Dujardin,

0:08:21 > 0:08:26dancing her way to gold in both the team and individual dressage events.

0:08:26 > 0:08:30That's why it is enough to see her trot into 17th spot.

0:08:30 > 0:08:32COMMENTATOR: She has got the gold!

0:08:32 > 0:08:36Charlotte Dujardin has iced the cake in style!

0:08:36 > 0:08:39It's unbelievable. I'm not even emotional about it.

0:08:39 > 0:08:44COMMENTATOR: And Britain has got another gold. What a performance.

0:08:44 > 0:08:47I don't know how we've done it but we've done it

0:08:47 > 0:08:50and now got two Olympic gold medals so, unbelievable.

0:08:50 > 0:08:52They always interview the rider and sometimes they go,

0:08:52 > 0:08:54"Thanks for my achievement, I won gold and everything."

0:08:54 > 0:08:57And I'm thinking, "Speak to the horse. Speak to the horse about it."

0:08:57 > 0:08:59But the thing is, with the horses is

0:08:59 > 0:09:02they're not as big-headed as the humans. Say to a horse,

0:09:02 > 0:09:04"You've won gold, how do you feel?" The horse is like that...

0:09:04 > 0:09:06Pffffft.

0:09:10 > 0:09:13So our next entry comes courtesy of Britain's truly incredible

0:09:13 > 0:09:15women's team pursuiters.

0:09:15 > 0:09:18Oh, I remember this. They were brilliant, weren't they?

0:09:18 > 0:09:20Honestly, I've not seen women pursued with such relentless

0:09:20 > 0:09:23determination since my mate Dave's stag do.

0:09:24 > 0:09:26Yes, very funny, Greg.

0:09:26 > 0:09:29At 16th, three girls with three amazing stories.

0:09:29 > 0:09:32It was my favourite gold medal of the entire Olympics,

0:09:32 > 0:09:33without a shadow of a doubt.

0:09:33 > 0:09:36The women's team pursuit inside that velodrome.

0:09:36 > 0:09:38Dani King, Joanna Rowsell and Laura Trott.

0:09:38 > 0:09:42Olympic gold medals are handed out in their hundreds every

0:09:42 > 0:09:44four years but it's the stories that set them apart.

0:09:44 > 0:09:46Laura Trott has a condition

0:09:46 > 0:09:49when if she exerts herself too much physically, she throws up.

0:09:49 > 0:09:52So, the whole way throughout the Olympics there was a steel bucket

0:09:52 > 0:09:53at the finish line.

0:09:53 > 0:09:56You've got Dani King who was told after glandular fever that she

0:09:56 > 0:09:59would have trouble climbing the stairs without being

0:09:59 > 0:10:02out of breath and then you've got Joana Rowsell who

0:10:02 > 0:10:04had alopecia from a young age

0:10:04 > 0:10:06and suffered from depression as a kid and didn't want to leave

0:10:06 > 0:10:11her house and those three girls together, dominant on the track.

0:10:11 > 0:10:14Dani, Jo and Laura make a great team.

0:10:14 > 0:10:16They understand each other's strengths,

0:10:16 > 0:10:19they get on so well, they've got a great work ethic as a group

0:10:19 > 0:10:23and, to be honest, they were the tightest team at the Olympics.

0:10:23 > 0:10:28Qualifying round, world record. Semi-final, world record.

0:10:28 > 0:10:34COMMENTATOR: Great Britain win the Olympic title and the gold medal.

0:10:34 > 0:10:37Final, world record, gold medal, thank you very much,

0:10:37 > 0:10:39national anthem.

0:10:39 > 0:10:43It was an ultimate display of dominance against the rest

0:10:43 > 0:10:45of the world.

0:10:45 > 0:10:47Velodrome cycling is obscure

0:10:47 > 0:10:50and strange at the best of times in many, many ways.

0:10:50 > 0:10:52Basically, they're all bikes going round a track

0:10:52 > 0:10:56so they just work out different ways to do bikes going round a track.

0:10:56 > 0:10:58So, they have, will we do it from a standing start?

0:10:58 > 0:11:01Will we do in a group? Will we do it on your own?

0:11:01 > 0:11:04Will we do with a motorbike in front of you with a man looking

0:11:04 > 0:11:06really kind of, "What's happening here?"

0:11:06 > 0:11:09The best parallel is if you play video games then

0:11:09 > 0:11:12they're like the different online modes in Call Of Duty.

0:11:12 > 0:11:15All these games essentially involve

0:11:15 > 0:11:17running around shooting people in the head with fake guns, right?

0:11:17 > 0:11:20But there is team deathmatch, and there's individual deathmatch

0:11:20 > 0:11:22and there's capture the flag.

0:11:22 > 0:11:24That is basically what the velodrome feels like.

0:11:24 > 0:11:27The omnium, which has all the different capture the flag

0:11:27 > 0:11:30permutations, there is one thing called elimination.

0:11:30 > 0:11:34They go around in a big group and on every second lap a buzzer

0:11:34 > 0:11:37goes off and the last person has to drop out and do

0:11:37 > 0:11:40the glide of shame where they're like, "I am no longer in this."

0:11:40 > 0:11:42But Laura Trott was the GB representative in this.

0:11:42 > 0:11:45There was one particularly, the seventh or eighth last one,

0:11:45 > 0:11:48where she was at the back and she saw...

0:11:48 > 0:11:51This was one of the finest moments of the Olympics.

0:11:51 > 0:11:55She saw a gap. There was no gap there.

0:11:55 > 0:11:59But Trott saw a gap and she cut through and just wedged the bike.

0:11:59 > 0:12:01I would like to see the woman park

0:12:01 > 0:12:05because I would imagine that she rams a car into a tiny...

0:12:05 > 0:12:07And then climbs out of the roof.

0:12:07 > 0:12:10It is the most incredible piece of positioning.

0:12:10 > 0:12:13She just found a gap in a moving field of cyclists,

0:12:13 > 0:12:15just got her wheel in front, cleared for that one

0:12:15 > 0:12:17and then went on and won that round.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20Introduce an elimination round into every...

0:12:20 > 0:12:25Into politics, into your family. Into everything.

0:12:25 > 0:12:28You, child, are not eating your dinner enough - you're out.

0:12:28 > 0:12:31Everything would benefit from an elimination round.

0:12:31 > 0:12:34COMMENTATOR: Laura Trott's going to win the elimination round,

0:12:34 > 0:12:36the third counted event in the omnium.

0:12:36 > 0:12:39And, for Laura Trott, her amazing performance in the omnium

0:12:39 > 0:12:42sealed her second gold of the Games.

0:12:42 > 0:12:45It was just such a nice feeling and I don't want the feeling to go away.

0:12:45 > 0:12:50The way the country, like, lifted us as well was just incredible.

0:12:50 > 0:12:52I just want that feeling all the time.

0:12:52 > 0:12:57Aged just 14 when he competed in Beijing, someone making a big splash

0:12:57 > 0:13:00at the Olympics was this guy, who had done an awful lot of growing up.

0:13:02 > 0:13:05Tom Daley's body was quite nice.

0:13:09 > 0:13:13Standing on the end of the board in the Olympic Games is nerve-wracking.

0:13:13 > 0:13:17But then standing on the end of the board in front of the home crowd in

0:13:17 > 0:13:20London at the Olympic Games kind of just takes it up a whole new level.

0:13:20 > 0:13:24COMMENTATOR: Now the opening dive for Tom Daley.

0:13:24 > 0:13:26I took off, twisted towards the audience

0:13:26 > 0:13:29and then all of a sudden there was all these flashes in my face

0:13:29 > 0:13:31and if you get those flashes in your face,

0:13:31 > 0:13:35your automatic reaction is to blink and if you blink during a dive,

0:13:35 > 0:13:37you lose where you are and by that point I'd hit the water

0:13:37 > 0:13:41and it had gone wrong so I approached the referee

0:13:41 > 0:13:43and he looked back on the replay and thought it was unfair

0:13:43 > 0:13:45so he gave me another shot.

0:13:45 > 0:13:48To have the presence of mind that he had after that first dive to

0:13:48 > 0:13:51come straight to the judge and say,

0:13:51 > 0:13:53"Look, I'm sorry, there were flashlights going off.

0:13:53 > 0:13:56"I need to retake that dive." I mean, that was amazing.

0:13:56 > 0:14:00COMMENTATOR: The country is behind you.

0:14:02 > 0:14:07COMMENTATOR: Ooh, yes! It's a good one! He can't do any more than that. The crowd are on their feet.

0:14:07 > 0:14:10Tom Daley has done absolutely everything he can.

0:14:10 > 0:14:13Loads of my family were there on the night. I had my friends, my family.

0:14:13 > 0:14:16I think there was up to about 30 people that came along, so...

0:14:16 > 0:14:19it was, yeah... It was a real special moment and I think

0:14:19 > 0:14:22when athletes are able to share it with their families

0:14:22 > 0:14:24it really does make it extra special.

0:14:24 > 0:14:26COMMENTATOR: But Tom Daley...

0:14:27 > 0:14:32..celebrates as only Tom Daley can! It's a bronze medal.

0:14:32 > 0:14:34They just all picked me up and jumped in

0:14:34 > 0:14:37but I don't see why it affected me because I was still wet anyway

0:14:37 > 0:14:40but those lot were in clothes so I don't understand why they did it

0:14:40 > 0:14:44but it was a real good moment for the whole team cos everyone was so happy about it.

0:14:45 > 0:14:47Now, what 2012 countdown would be complete

0:14:47 > 0:14:52without the first ever female boxing gold medallist in Olympic history?

0:14:52 > 0:14:55Someone who not only had a knockout punch, but also a knockout smile.

0:14:55 > 0:14:58A smile that truly captured the nation's heart.

0:14:59 > 0:15:02No, that's just a bit creepy. Stop it. Introduce a clip.

0:15:02 > 0:15:06At number 14 it's the better-than-me-at-smiling Nicola Adams.

0:15:10 > 0:15:13My favourite Olympian, bar none, was Nicola Adams.

0:15:14 > 0:15:17She's gorgeous.

0:15:17 > 0:15:20Just a genuinely lovely kid from Leeds.

0:15:20 > 0:15:25If Nicola Adams has taught me anything, it's that sometimes it is OK to hit a woman.

0:15:25 > 0:15:27I'm joking, obviously!

0:15:27 > 0:15:29# Half the population just waiting to see me fail

0:15:29 > 0:15:32# Yeah, right, you're better off trying to freeze hell... #

0:15:32 > 0:15:35It's exceptional that that was the first women's boxing at the Olympics

0:15:35 > 0:15:39and I think it was done with such, erm... Such grace.

0:15:39 > 0:15:42I mean, it was a really... It was a great sporting event.

0:15:42 > 0:15:44# And I'll be in your corner... #

0:15:44 > 0:15:46She marmalised her opponent!

0:15:46 > 0:15:50Yeah, I just remember the bell going for the final round,

0:15:50 > 0:15:51and going out thinking,

0:15:51 > 0:15:54"All I have to do is stay focused, keep my hands up,"

0:15:54 > 0:15:57and, you know, "I can get through and win."

0:16:00 > 0:16:04It was a genuine astonishing performance. There was no doubt about it the whole way through.

0:16:04 > 0:16:08COMMENTATOR: The winner and Olympic Champion

0:16:08 > 0:16:11in the blue corner...

0:16:11 > 0:16:14Nicola Adams!

0:16:14 > 0:16:16She has got a great sense of humour

0:16:16 > 0:16:20and to win the first ever women's boxing title, it was...

0:16:20 > 0:16:23It was an amazing moment. And there's so many amazing moments in these Olympic Games

0:16:23 > 0:16:26but Nicola Adams is definitely up there with one of my favourites.

0:16:26 > 0:16:29Staying North now, from a Leeds lass to a pair of Leeds lads,

0:16:29 > 0:16:33and surely the Brownlee brothers were nailed on for a couple of medals.

0:16:33 > 0:16:35At number 13 it's the men's triathlon.

0:16:35 > 0:16:37They like to keep it in t'family up North.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40It was near-certain, just in terms of form,

0:16:40 > 0:16:44that one of them, and probably Alistair, would win gold.

0:16:44 > 0:16:47But there's so much that can go wrong in triathlon.

0:16:47 > 0:16:51COMMENTATOR: Jonny arrives, swim hat comes off, Alistair's right behind him.

0:16:51 > 0:16:55The brilliant Brownlee brothers are out in front.

0:16:55 > 0:16:56That was a wonderful story

0:16:56 > 0:17:01and, you know, the shot of him crossing the line with the flag over his shoulder,

0:17:01 > 0:17:04holding that Union flag and the crowd was going wild.

0:17:04 > 0:17:06That was the stand-out moment of the Games.

0:17:06 > 0:17:10COMMENTATOR: Alistair Brownlee is the Olympic triathlon champion!

0:17:10 > 0:17:15And there will be both of the brilliant Brownlee brothers

0:17:15 > 0:17:17on the Olympic podium

0:17:17 > 0:17:21as Jonathan comes home for bronze!

0:17:21 > 0:17:26I always got the impression with Alistair that he genuinely enjoyed the pressure,

0:17:26 > 0:17:30he enjoyed the attention, he enjoyed the race.

0:17:30 > 0:17:33And obviously they both enjoyed the medal ceremony.

0:17:33 > 0:17:38Medals in triathlon are like buses. We've been waiting all this time for them and two come along at once!

0:17:38 > 0:17:41Mrs Brownlee must be the proudest woman in England.

0:17:41 > 0:17:43She can go into any shop

0:17:43 > 0:17:47and no matter what the other mums and people are talking about,

0:17:47 > 0:17:51no matter what their kids have done, she can stand there and go, "Oh, did he?

0:17:51 > 0:17:57"Yeah. Well, my sons finished first and third in an Olympic event, so...

0:17:57 > 0:17:59"Sucks to be you, I guess."

0:18:01 > 0:18:04- Gabby, you know that last clip reminded me of you?- Why's that?

0:18:04 > 0:18:08Because you are officially the second best triathlete in your household.

0:18:08 > 0:18:12- What ARE you talking about? - Oh, no, second best...

0:18:12 > 0:18:16dancer in your household. You know, Strictly speaking? Uh?

0:18:16 > 0:18:17Yeah, moving on.

0:18:17 > 0:18:22At number 12 in the countdown is Britain's greatest ever female rower, Katherine Grainger.

0:18:22 > 0:18:25He was on a journey, Scottish as well. Get your feet off.

0:18:27 > 0:18:31For three Olympics I've seen her pick up a silver medal.

0:18:31 > 0:18:34The first two, I think she was quite happy about picking up a silver medal

0:18:34 > 0:18:37but in Beijing she was devastated.

0:18:37 > 0:18:42The tears after failing to win the gold... You just felt for her.

0:18:42 > 0:18:47Would she have the commitment and the belief to go on for another four years?

0:18:47 > 0:18:51Well, you don't underestimate Katherine. She has that amazing will to win.

0:18:51 > 0:18:54I definitely considered very seriously retiring after Beijing,

0:18:54 > 0:18:55definitely.

0:18:55 > 0:18:58Partly I thought, you know, with three Olympics, erm...

0:18:58 > 0:19:01I thought that'd be the end of the run anyway.

0:19:01 > 0:19:04Katherine and Anna have never been beaten in a double scull

0:19:04 > 0:19:08since they've been in it for the last two-and-a-half years.

0:19:08 > 0:19:11But there's always that little bit of doubt

0:19:11 > 0:19:14of when it comes up to the Games, can they produce it?

0:19:14 > 0:19:17It's utterly heart-pounding.

0:19:17 > 0:19:20Oof! You know! This is it, this is it.

0:19:20 > 0:19:22We get one chance, it's one take.

0:19:22 > 0:19:25I just so wanted her to win gold.

0:19:25 > 0:19:30And I sat on my own in the make-up room of the studio block...

0:19:31 > 0:19:35..crying my eyes out, watching it on the telly.

0:19:35 > 0:19:41COMMENTATOR: But, ladies and gentlemen, what we are seeing right now is that dreams do come true!

0:19:41 > 0:19:44Well, the nation expected, Great Britain delivered!

0:19:44 > 0:19:46Olympic champions!

0:19:46 > 0:19:49I think the whole world was behind Katherine Grainger

0:19:49 > 0:19:51when she won that gold.

0:19:51 > 0:19:56Everybody knew how hard she had worked for that.

0:19:56 > 0:20:00It's almost too much to try and comprehend. It's a lifetime, it's a career that goes behind it.

0:20:00 > 0:20:02It was, in all honesty...

0:20:02 > 0:20:05better than I could have ever hoped.

0:20:05 > 0:20:07COMMENTATOR: At long, long last,

0:20:07 > 0:20:10Katherine Grainger is the Olympic champion!

0:20:10 > 0:20:12Can I talk to the Olympic champion, please?

0:20:12 > 0:20:15Where? Where? She's finally here!

0:20:15 > 0:20:18- (Yeah...)- You did it. You did it. - Yeah.

0:20:18 > 0:20:20Worth the wait.

0:20:20 > 0:20:23It took me four times. Some people get it right first time!

0:20:23 > 0:20:26Magical day, magical moment

0:20:26 > 0:20:29but she's rightly now got that gold medal round her neck.

0:20:29 > 0:20:32One magical day at the Olympics was followed by another -

0:20:32 > 0:20:35two more rowing golds and another in the velodrome -

0:20:35 > 0:20:39but Super Saturday was when the Olympic Stadium burst into life.

0:20:39 > 0:20:42Three golds in 45 amazing minutes.

0:20:42 > 0:20:46That night, you know, with three gold medals to the British team,

0:20:46 > 0:20:48was a phenomenal atmosphere.

0:20:48 > 0:20:52It was one of those days, I think, that you will always say,

0:20:52 > 0:20:53"I was there."

0:20:53 > 0:20:55Gold medal after gold medal.

0:20:55 > 0:20:59What I remember about that Super Saturday was that the Opening Ceremony,

0:20:59 > 0:21:03Tory MP Aidan Burley labelled it "multi-cultural crap".

0:21:03 > 0:21:05And then I remember watching Super Saturday,

0:21:05 > 0:21:09seeing a Somali refugee, a mixed-race girl and a ginger guy win gold medals, thinking,

0:21:09 > 0:21:12"So much for multi-cultural crap. This is brilliant!"

0:21:12 > 0:21:15More from Jess and Mo later, but the gold that nobody predicted

0:21:15 > 0:21:18on that Super Saturday was more than just a small step.

0:21:18 > 0:21:21It was a giant leap for ginger mankind.

0:21:21 > 0:21:23Number 11 is Greg Rutherford.

0:21:23 > 0:21:27So I knew of Greg and I am an athletics fan and I still didn't expect him to win.

0:21:27 > 0:21:31I don't think anybody... I don't think Greg... He would tell you he didn't expect to win.

0:21:31 > 0:21:35No-one but no-one would have predicted Greg Rutherford winning that gold medal.

0:21:36 > 0:21:40It was probably one of the best atmospheres for a championship

0:21:40 > 0:21:42that I've ever seen across the board.

0:21:42 > 0:21:45It was... It was really something...

0:21:45 > 0:21:47I haven't experienced that before.

0:21:47 > 0:21:49And as you set off down the runway,

0:21:49 > 0:21:51it just got louder and louder and louder

0:21:51 > 0:21:53and then till where you took off, it was just...

0:21:53 > 0:21:57I've genuinely never experienced anything like it in any stadium in the world.

0:21:57 > 0:22:00He was kind of like our own sort of little Del Boy.

0:22:00 > 0:22:03He was all a little bit cocky and he had a bit of swagger. He was a bit of a geezer.

0:22:03 > 0:22:07I just sort of thought, "Yeah, right, this is my time."

0:22:07 > 0:22:10COMMENTATOR: So, Greg Rutherford, 8.21, leads at the moment.

0:22:10 > 0:22:15Can he feed off this atmosphere? Quick, quick, quick! And it's big!

0:22:15 > 0:22:19You've given up pretty much everything for this moment in your life

0:22:19 > 0:22:21and all of a sudden, I've got every emotion

0:22:21 > 0:22:25I've ever felt in my life hitting me like an absolute ton of bricks.

0:22:25 > 0:22:29He so styled it out, didn't he, when he won it? So styled it out.

0:22:29 > 0:22:32I just thought, "You know what? I don't care."

0:22:32 > 0:22:36And I put my arms aloft the same as Jess did and then took in that...

0:22:36 > 0:22:38That amazing roar of the crowd.

0:22:41 > 0:22:44- Wow!- You are Olympic Champion!

0:22:44 > 0:22:48I don't think I'll ever get bored of hearing that, to be honest. That is...

0:22:48 > 0:22:51Oh! The most amazing feeling in the world.

0:22:51 > 0:22:54I have the most amazing parents that you could possibly have!

0:22:54 > 0:22:58Oh, beautiful girlfriend! Just everything! Like...

0:22:58 > 0:23:01- Oh! I've... It's...- Life generally is pretty beautiful right now.

0:23:01 > 0:23:03I've got a pretty good life, yeah, I'm not going to lie!

0:23:03 > 0:23:06I mean, one of the weirdest moments, I think, we...

0:23:06 > 0:23:09Me, Louis Smith and our manager Gav

0:23:09 > 0:23:12got invited back to Matthew Freud's house

0:23:12 > 0:23:14erm, for an evening, randomly.

0:23:14 > 0:23:17It was sort of, Bono was there and Damien Lewis, Sacha Baron Cohen.

0:23:17 > 0:23:19Jimmy Carr walks past.

0:23:19 > 0:23:20It's like I'm just dropping names non-stop.

0:23:20 > 0:23:23I think... I remember there was a ginger dude there,

0:23:23 > 0:23:27but I thought he was working there, I didn't realise he was at the party.

0:23:27 > 0:23:29Gabby, I can't...

0:23:29 > 0:23:33I love the Olympics, the Olympics was bloody brilliant.

0:23:33 > 0:23:35I knew you'd come round, you just can't fail to be blown away

0:23:35 > 0:23:38by all this incredible, breathtaking Olympic action,

0:23:38 > 0:23:41but now it's time for you to stand back in even more wonder.

0:23:41 > 0:23:46- We've finally reached the top ten. - Yeah, I'm so excited!

0:23:46 > 0:23:48- Oh, my God, I've wee'd. - Sort yourself out, I'll do this one.

0:23:48 > 0:23:49Oh, God!

0:23:49 > 0:23:53At number ten, it's the legendary 800m gold medal winner

0:23:53 > 0:23:56and world record-breaking David Rudisha.

0:23:56 > 0:23:58I've got some spare trousers if you want.

0:24:01 > 0:24:05- STEVE CRAM: - Let's see what he has in store for us here tonight.

0:24:05 > 0:24:08David Rudisha's race, in terms of just pure performance,

0:24:08 > 0:24:10that was the highlight of the Olympics for me.

0:24:10 > 0:24:12Will they go as fast as Rudisha,

0:24:12 > 0:24:14and will they be able to last it out?

0:24:15 > 0:24:19The gun went and he took off, you know, like a sprint race.

0:24:20 > 0:24:23David Rudisha, as ever, loves to be in the front,

0:24:23 > 0:24:25a beautiful running action.

0:24:25 > 0:24:27Rudisha in the front.

0:24:28 > 0:24:30He has a way of running that he knows suits him.

0:24:30 > 0:24:33He likes to be at the front, he likes to go out hard.

0:24:33 > 0:24:37This one wasn't tactical at all, this was insane, he just took off.

0:24:37 > 0:24:41And he's stretching it out there, a fast opening 300 metres.

0:24:41 > 0:24:44And he got to the back straight, and you just saw him,

0:24:44 > 0:24:48he's tall anyway, but you just saw him sort of lift and vroom!

0:24:48 > 0:24:53And in commentary, you know, I could feel myself getting excited then.

0:24:53 > 0:24:55COMMENTARY: And they're sucked into going with him

0:24:55 > 0:24:57down the back straight, can they hang on?

0:24:57 > 0:25:00They're all starting to fade. Look at this!

0:25:00 > 0:25:02He's a joy to watch, because of the way that he attacks it

0:25:02 > 0:25:06and goes out and runs the 800m just as a...

0:25:06 > 0:25:08as a sprint almost.

0:25:08 > 0:25:11That's really, really quick through 600.

0:25:11 > 0:25:14It might as well have been run in a straight line,

0:25:14 > 0:25:15because he just...

0:25:15 > 0:25:17There was no element of, "I'm going to use the bend here

0:25:17 > 0:25:19"and I'm going to sit here."

0:25:19 > 0:25:21He just...foom, gone!

0:25:21 > 0:25:26Striding away to become the Olympic champion! How quick will it be?

0:25:26 > 0:25:29Watch the clock! That's the world record!

0:25:31 > 0:25:33Unbelievable!

0:25:34 > 0:25:38He had a slipstream so strong that the guy who was last,

0:25:38 > 0:25:40Team GB's guy came last,

0:25:40 > 0:25:43would have won the two previous Olympic finals in the 800m,

0:25:43 > 0:25:45and he came last.

0:25:45 > 0:25:50The greatest ever 800m race anyone...

0:25:51 > 0:25:55..has ever run, that I've ever seen, obviously.

0:25:55 > 0:25:58What a privilege to be here.

0:26:01 > 0:26:03At number nine, it's another Olympic giant.

0:26:03 > 0:26:05Big Ben Ainslie was competing in his fifth Games,

0:26:05 > 0:26:08and with three golds and a silver already under his belt,

0:26:08 > 0:26:11the Cornishman was serious about winning,

0:26:11 > 0:26:14but things didn't get off to the best of starts.

0:26:14 > 0:26:16I mean, for once, he wasn't having it all his own way,

0:26:16 > 0:26:18and he was quite a long way behind.

0:26:18 > 0:26:22He seemed to lose every race but yet still seemed to be in contention.

0:26:22 > 0:26:25In Olympic sailing, it's not about winning every race of the regatta,

0:26:25 > 0:26:28it's about remaining consistent throughout the competition.

0:26:28 > 0:26:31Big Ben did exactly that, but during the eighth race

0:26:31 > 0:26:35his competitors ganged up on him and he incurred a penalty as a result.

0:26:35 > 0:26:38This angered the reigning Olympic champion.

0:26:38 > 0:26:42# Does that make me crazy? #

0:26:42 > 0:26:46I'm seriously, er... unhappy with that.

0:26:46 > 0:26:48But you know, he made a big mistake, because I'm angry,

0:26:48 > 0:26:50and he didn't want to make me angry.

0:26:50 > 0:26:54Ben is such a competitor, when he came on and said,

0:26:54 > 0:26:58"Look, that's motivation for me, they never should have done that,"

0:26:58 > 0:27:00that was just brilliant.

0:27:00 > 0:27:02He had the hump, didn't he? He had the hump one day.

0:27:02 > 0:27:03Those guys better watch out.

0:27:03 > 0:27:06Going into the final race, he was placed just two points

0:27:06 > 0:27:09behind his main rival, Jonas Hogh-Christensen.

0:27:09 > 0:27:11All we had to do was finish ahead of the Dane

0:27:11 > 0:27:13to clinch a nail-biting gold

0:27:13 > 0:27:17and become the most successful Olympic sailor of all time.

0:27:17 > 0:27:21Ben Ainslie punches the air! Well done, Ben Ainslie!

0:27:21 > 0:27:23You've had an extraordinary week.

0:27:23 > 0:27:26Actually, that's my worst moment during the Olympics,

0:27:26 > 0:27:29was interviewing Ben Ainslie, because it was down the line.

0:27:29 > 0:27:33It was the night I was in the stadium watching the 100m and...

0:27:33 > 0:27:36I only had a tiny little monitor that was on the edge of the camera,

0:27:36 > 0:27:39and I couldn't hear one single word he said,

0:27:39 > 0:27:41and that was...tricky.

0:27:41 > 0:27:43I had to try and judge it when he stopped moving his mouth

0:27:43 > 0:27:45and just hoping he hadn't said anything difficult.

0:27:45 > 0:27:49And will you go on to Rio 2016?

0:27:49 > 0:27:53I don't know. Will you still be doing Match Of The Day by then?

0:27:53 > 0:27:56I saw him laughing, so I thought I'd laugh, but I had no idea what at.

0:27:56 > 0:27:59You are the greatest Olympic sailor in history!

0:28:00 > 0:28:01Yeah.

0:28:01 > 0:28:04All right, Ben, calm down. Anyone for tennis?

0:28:06 > 0:28:09Talk about a roller-coaster ride, you know.

0:28:09 > 0:28:13At the end of Wimbledon, standing on Centre Court with him crying.

0:28:13 > 0:28:16All right, I'm going to try this, and it's not going to be easy.

0:28:18 > 0:28:21To come back, four weeks later,

0:28:21 > 0:28:24after...the most disappointing match of his career,

0:28:24 > 0:28:27to come out and play his greatest tennis ever,

0:28:27 > 0:28:31beating the greatest tennis player of all time

0:28:31 > 0:28:35on Wimbledon's Centre Court, I mean, it was just written in the stars.

0:28:35 > 0:28:39I've never seen anybody dismantle Roger Federer in that way.

0:28:39 > 0:28:42He's got him! First blow in this Olympic final!

0:28:42 > 0:28:45The one thing missing, you know, from Federer's CV

0:28:45 > 0:28:47is a singles gold medal in the Olympic Games.

0:28:47 > 0:28:51He wanted to win that so badly, and he was just smashed.

0:28:53 > 0:28:57Every time Federer throws some heat down to Murray,

0:28:57 > 0:29:02Murray just returns it, just again and again and again.

0:29:02 > 0:29:04And I must say, I've been at Wimbledon many, many times,

0:29:04 > 0:29:0835 years I've been going to Wimbledon as a player and as a commentator,

0:29:08 > 0:29:09and that was really the first time

0:29:09 > 0:29:13I saw a crowd really make a difference,

0:29:13 > 0:29:16really so much behind Andy.

0:29:16 > 0:29:19Because of the Olympics, they could unabashedly root for him.

0:29:19 > 0:29:21They're - to me - too polite at Wimbledon.

0:29:23 > 0:29:24CHEERING

0:29:24 > 0:29:29It's a golden triumph for Andy Murray!

0:29:29 > 0:29:32Unbelievable to see that much of a mismatch,

0:29:32 > 0:29:35considering how Roger sort of had, in the big occasion,

0:29:35 > 0:29:39taken it to Andy, so that was quite impressive, and it set the stage,

0:29:39 > 0:29:42I think, for him going on to win the US Open, without a doubt.

0:29:42 > 0:29:45It was just electric, absolutely electric.

0:29:45 > 0:29:49I think that was the moment when Britain loved Andy Murray.

0:29:49 > 0:29:53- Are you OK this time? - Yeah, I feel much better so...

0:29:53 > 0:29:56Definitely easier winning in the final than losing!

0:29:56 > 0:29:59We were in station, and we had one of those moments

0:29:59 > 0:30:01where they announced over the thing, "Andy Murray has won,"

0:30:01 > 0:30:03and the whole station went, "Hurray!"

0:30:03 > 0:30:06And you're going, "Wow, this is the feel-good thing."

0:30:06 > 0:30:10What a phenomenal tennis player, in the greatest era of tennis ever,

0:30:10 > 0:30:13and we've got a British player right in the mix.

0:30:13 > 0:30:16We should be more proud almost of Andy than anybody else.

0:30:16 > 0:30:18He's done it, he's absolutely done it,

0:30:18 > 0:30:20and his confidence now just seems to be...

0:30:20 > 0:30:21He's sort of like a different man.

0:30:21 > 0:30:25It's incredible to have watched that over kind of five, six years,

0:30:25 > 0:30:28him develop as a player, he's extraordinary.

0:30:28 > 0:30:30I mean, the Scottish haven't celebrated that hard

0:30:30 > 0:30:33since they discovered you could get drunk on hand sanitiser.

0:30:35 > 0:30:37We take full credit

0:30:37 > 0:30:39for Andy Murray doing well in the Olympics this year,

0:30:39 > 0:30:41we being the team of Mock The Week.

0:30:41 > 0:30:43Because we know that Andy Murray is a fan of Mock The Week,

0:30:43 > 0:30:45and we're always inviting him to come along,

0:30:45 > 0:30:48but he did so, like two days after the Wimbledon final.

0:30:48 > 0:30:51A bit hello to Andy Murray, who's up there.

0:30:51 > 0:30:54CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:30:54 > 0:30:56"Andy Murray is here, so try to keep it light,

0:30:56 > 0:30:58"because he's very... at the moment."

0:30:58 > 0:31:01That's one for Andy Murray!

0:31:01 > 0:31:05He hasn't lost since, and we take personal credit for that.

0:31:05 > 0:31:08This week's winner is Andy Murray, ladies and gentlemen!

0:31:09 > 0:31:10He has ruined jokes, though.

0:31:10 > 0:31:13For years, we were making jokes about,

0:31:13 > 0:31:15"When is a Brit going to win Wimbledon?"

0:31:15 > 0:31:18Probably next year. It's probably going to be next year, then.

0:31:18 > 0:31:22When he won the gold, it was like, "Well done, you're now British."

0:31:22 > 0:31:25And then he lost the final in the doubles with Laura Robson,

0:31:25 > 0:31:27it was like, "OK, you're back to being Scottish."

0:31:31 > 0:31:34- What do you reckon?- Mmm. - Make me look older?

0:31:34 > 0:31:36Yeah, you look at least 14.

0:31:36 > 0:31:38Er...thanks.

0:31:38 > 0:31:41OK, if you haven't already guessed, at number seven,

0:31:41 > 0:31:44the first man to ever win the Tour de France, Olympic gold

0:31:44 > 0:31:46and get hit by a van in the same year.

0:31:46 > 0:31:48He's a national treasure, who without a doubt

0:31:48 > 0:31:51is the greatest road cyclist this country has ever produced.

0:31:51 > 0:31:53Wiggo, take a bow.

0:31:56 > 0:31:58He's a very cool individual, Bradley Wiggins.

0:31:58 > 0:32:03I think Bradley Wiggins is the coolest gold medallist ever.

0:32:03 > 0:32:06Any guy who can pull off ginger sideburns has got to be cool, man.

0:32:06 > 0:32:08It's a good job I didn't have a ponytail, innit?

0:32:08 > 0:32:11Can you imagine that? It would have been like Germany in the 1980s.

0:32:11 > 0:32:14All them people at Hampton Court with ponytails.

0:32:14 > 0:32:16Well, I'm just hugely envious of Bradley Wiggins

0:32:16 > 0:32:18that he can grow sideburns,

0:32:18 > 0:32:22because all my life I've never shaved here.

0:32:22 > 0:32:26And I know some people would say, "Well, you're lucky not to have to,"

0:32:26 > 0:32:28but it would be nice to have had the choice.

0:32:28 > 0:32:29And that's a bit weird, you know.

0:32:29 > 0:32:32I mean, I'd had sideburns for years, you know.

0:32:32 > 0:32:34It's a funny mix of an amazing athlete

0:32:34 > 0:32:36but then this sort of rock-and-roll dude.

0:32:36 > 0:32:38Imagine if like he was just about to go past the finish line

0:32:38 > 0:32:42and his sideburns just suddenly peeled out and acted like flaps...

0:32:42 > 0:32:45Maybe that's how he slows down, like the flaps on a plane's wing,

0:32:45 > 0:32:48when it comes into landing - when he crosses the line,

0:32:48 > 0:32:51flaps out, his burns go like that and he can brake safely.

0:32:51 > 0:32:55It's Bradley Wiggins, the man that's just won the Tour de France.

0:32:55 > 0:32:57If the Olympics isn't the pinnacle of your sport,

0:32:57 > 0:33:01then I'm less fussed about your Olympic achievement.

0:33:01 > 0:33:04You get...? I think Bradley Wiggins did an extraordinary thing,

0:33:04 > 0:33:09winning those golds, but the Tour de France without drugs.

0:33:09 > 0:33:11It's incredible, I didn't even know you could do that.

0:33:11 > 0:33:13I didn't know that was an option.

0:33:16 > 0:33:19There was never any doubt he was going to win it, actually, you know.

0:33:19 > 0:33:21He even could have won it by more,

0:33:21 > 0:33:24but he put so much effort into my road race, you know.

0:33:24 > 0:33:28He was spent after the road race. He was... He was pretty phenomenal.

0:33:28 > 0:33:30- WIGGINS:- You could really sense the expectation.

0:33:30 > 0:33:33The British people... made the Olympics, really.

0:33:35 > 0:33:39I don't think we ever have or ever will see another road race cyclist

0:33:39 > 0:33:41with the talent of Bradley Wiggins.

0:33:41 > 0:33:44When he's on the bike, he is just...

0:33:44 > 0:33:48Well, he's a machine, the legs are just pump, pump, pump, pump.

0:33:48 > 0:33:52And it was so good that his moment came at the London Olympic Games.

0:33:52 > 0:33:55I'll never forget it, you know, to think that was in Britain.

0:33:55 > 0:33:59There was a sensational moment just after Bradley Wiggins won gold,

0:33:59 > 0:34:02outside Hampton Court in the time-trial,

0:34:02 > 0:34:05and I was on the radio, so I was just in the crowd watching it.

0:34:05 > 0:34:08And when he won, he disappeared into Hampton Court.

0:34:08 > 0:34:10The medal ceremony was too far away,

0:34:10 > 0:34:13and people started piling over the barrier onto...

0:34:13 > 0:34:16a bit like the Formula One, onto the starting grid and walking down.

0:34:16 > 0:34:18Now, it was against all the health and safety,

0:34:18 > 0:34:20it was against all the rules.

0:34:20 > 0:34:24Instead of the stewards and the police stopping people,

0:34:24 > 0:34:26they began to help people over.

0:34:26 > 0:34:28To me, that's what it's all about, really,

0:34:28 > 0:34:30because I was one of those people when I was a kid,

0:34:30 > 0:34:34and I would have been there in London, looking over the barrier.

0:34:34 > 0:34:37And it was just, you know, when everything comes together,

0:34:37 > 0:34:40and then out came Bradley Wiggins into the masses.

0:34:40 > 0:34:44And that was just a beautiful moment in time, you know.

0:34:44 > 0:34:45I told the teacher at school

0:34:45 > 0:34:47I wanted to wear the yellow jersey in the Tour de France

0:34:47 > 0:34:49and I wanted to be Olympic champion.

0:34:49 > 0:34:52She told me I was mad and that I needed to grow up

0:34:52 > 0:34:54and start thinking about what I wanted to do with my life.

0:34:55 > 0:34:59He makes you question every little part of what you wear,

0:34:59 > 0:35:02how you look and how much of a man you actually are.

0:35:02 > 0:35:05I think Bradley Wiggins should be King,

0:35:05 > 0:35:07or Prime Minister at least.

0:35:07 > 0:35:09Style and substance, and at the Opening Ceremony

0:35:09 > 0:35:13Wiggo, along with the rest of us, was treated to another style icon,

0:35:13 > 0:35:16but this one was on Her Majesty's Secret Service.

0:35:18 > 0:35:21MUSIC: James Bond Theme

0:35:21 > 0:35:25I thought that the James Bond Queen sketch for the Opening Ceremony

0:35:25 > 0:35:28was the best bit of television in history, personally.

0:35:28 > 0:35:31- It was brilliant. - The Bond thing was awesome.

0:35:31 > 0:35:33The Queen, that was just brilliant.

0:35:35 > 0:35:37Mr Bond, Your Majesty.

0:35:38 > 0:35:41That anticipation of... "Is it the Queen?"

0:35:41 > 0:35:44Another lookalike, there's the corgis, there they go.

0:35:44 > 0:35:47It won't be her, it won't be her, you know, but I wonder who it is.

0:35:48 > 0:35:50Ahem.

0:35:50 > 0:35:51It... No, it can't be the Queen.

0:35:54 > 0:35:56Good evening, Mr Bond.

0:35:56 > 0:35:59We were like, "Oh, this is fantastic!"

0:35:59 > 0:36:02Good evening, Your Majesty.

0:36:02 > 0:36:07When James Bond appeared with the Queen, the room went wild.

0:36:07 > 0:36:10Pizza flying everywhere, beer being spilled.

0:36:10 > 0:36:11It was a euphoric moment.

0:36:11 > 0:36:14We couldn't really believe it was happening.

0:36:14 > 0:36:17To do the walk through and all that, it was just amazing.

0:36:17 > 0:36:20How they kept that a secret I'll never know.

0:36:20 > 0:36:24She should have been nominated for a BAFTA for her performance.

0:36:24 > 0:36:26I thought she was amazing, what she did.

0:36:26 > 0:36:28She was such a good sport,

0:36:28 > 0:36:30to actually go out and do that kind of stuff.

0:36:30 > 0:36:33A lot of the other stuff, you know, it was quirky,

0:36:33 > 0:36:38and I was sitting there watching it and thinking,

0:36:38 > 0:36:41"You know, I don't know if the rest of..."

0:36:41 > 0:36:45I had to ask, I asked Sue Barker, I was like, "What's that?"

0:36:45 > 0:36:48Gobsmacked that we were seeing this incredible...

0:36:48 > 0:36:51kind of almost a love letter to the UK.

0:36:51 > 0:36:53It was so full of in-jokes.

0:36:53 > 0:36:55It was brilliant, it couldn't have been better.

0:36:55 > 0:36:57The Opening Ceremony, it was extraordinary to pull that off,

0:36:57 > 0:37:02because after the Chinese basically had a three-hour advert for slavery,

0:37:02 > 0:37:04which was pretty unbeatable, people just thought

0:37:04 > 0:37:07he was on a hiding to nothing, he could never do it.

0:37:07 > 0:37:09Then he just pulled this thing out of the bag that was just

0:37:09 > 0:37:13kind of warm-hearted and wonderful, and it just had everything.

0:37:13 > 0:37:17Most opening ceremonies are quite formal, quite serious,

0:37:17 > 0:37:21but we had a bit of British humour in it, and it was a great success.

0:37:22 > 0:37:25MUSIC: James Bond Theme

0:37:26 > 0:37:30I was amazed - I actually did not believe that was going to happen.

0:37:30 > 0:37:32I was like, "What?"

0:37:32 > 0:37:35And then we were thinking, "Are they doubles? What's going on?"

0:37:35 > 0:37:38I thought then the Queen was actually skydiving!

0:37:38 > 0:37:44To see James Bond do a scene with the Queen, it's amazing.

0:37:44 > 0:37:48I thought I was going to ejaculate a Union Jack - a Union Jack-ulate.

0:37:48 > 0:37:52I'll be honest, my only criticism, and it's only a small thing was,

0:37:52 > 0:37:54I didn't think the Bond girl was that hot.

0:37:54 > 0:37:56At number five, we have the man who,

0:37:56 > 0:37:59after picking up his sixth Olympic gold on the track,

0:37:59 > 0:38:01is now officially the most successful British Olympian

0:38:01 > 0:38:05of all time, overtaking Sir Steve Redgrave in the process.

0:38:05 > 0:38:07And therefore he will presumably become

0:38:07 > 0:38:09the official hugger in four years' time.

0:38:09 > 0:38:13- It's the one and only Sir Chris Hoy. - Hoy-Hoy!

0:38:13 > 0:38:14Hoy.

0:38:19 > 0:38:24Anyone who knows Chris, he's just an absolute gentleman, you know.

0:38:24 > 0:38:28He's the humblest, most down-to-earth man you'll meet, you know.

0:38:28 > 0:38:31Well, Sir Chris has been phenomenally successful,

0:38:31 > 0:38:34and I think he's a real ambassador for his sport

0:38:34 > 0:38:35and for British sport.

0:38:37 > 0:38:39He's a great role model for anyone that wants to get into sport

0:38:39 > 0:38:42and wants to see how to win.

0:38:42 > 0:38:44The longer you spend in sport,

0:38:44 > 0:38:47the longer you realise that the people that win are the people...

0:38:47 > 0:38:50It's not the lucky ones, you know - it's the ones who go out and get it.

0:38:50 > 0:38:52I think Chris is the biggest example of that,

0:38:52 > 0:38:54someone that will just keep working.

0:38:54 > 0:38:57# And I would walk 500 more.... #

0:38:57 > 0:39:01He's annoying, Chris Hoy, isn't he? I mean, he's a good-looking chap,

0:39:01 > 0:39:05he's got thighs the size of most of our waists,

0:39:05 > 0:39:10but was it really ever in doubt that Sir Chris Hoy, the knight,

0:39:10 > 0:39:12would let people down in that really cool helmet

0:39:12 > 0:39:15in the velodrome that looks like a Pringle?

0:39:15 > 0:39:18The Olympic Games, you know, the biggest event

0:39:18 > 0:39:22of all the GB team's lives, careers, and for me personally, you know,

0:39:22 > 0:39:25I won the team sprint gold medal with my team-mates Phil and Jason.

0:39:25 > 0:39:30And I won the keirin to cap off the end of my Olympic career,

0:39:30 > 0:39:32so it was a fantastic year for me,

0:39:32 > 0:39:34and one that really couldn't have gone any better.

0:39:34 > 0:39:39The crowd are going absolutely mad, gold medal for Great Britain!

0:39:39 > 0:39:41A new world record!

0:39:41 > 0:39:45Chris Hoy must have been the only man who was guaranteed a gold.

0:39:45 > 0:39:47"Oh, what, you won a gold? Yeah, I've got like six of those."

0:39:49 > 0:39:52Chris has become, erm...

0:39:52 > 0:39:55a good friend, and of course I wanted to be there.

0:39:55 > 0:39:58I don't remember much from that whole kind of manic period

0:39:58 > 0:40:01straight after the event, just finished, just come off the track,

0:40:01 > 0:40:03and you're doing interview after interview,

0:40:03 > 0:40:07but I just remember this one moment when Jill Douglas said to me,

0:40:07 > 0:40:10"Oh, we've got someone rather special here to congratulate you."

0:40:10 > 0:40:14'And then the massive hulking figure of Sir Steve Redgrave pops up.

0:40:14 > 0:40:16'He'd been tucked down behind her.'

0:40:16 > 0:40:17Ha-ha, Steve!

0:40:18 > 0:40:21I spent most of my time hugging people around the Games,

0:40:21 > 0:40:23not really doing very much speaking,

0:40:23 > 0:40:26but no, it was a very special moment.

0:40:27 > 0:40:30An amazing experience, to have him there to congratulate me.

0:40:30 > 0:40:34You know, I was a massive fan of his when he was rowing, competing.

0:40:34 > 0:40:35I was a rower when I was at school.

0:40:35 > 0:40:37As I hugged him, I did say a few words to him.

0:40:37 > 0:40:39I said, "Is that it? Definitely retiring now?

0:40:39 > 0:40:41"You're not going to another Olympics?"

0:40:41 > 0:40:43He says, "Yeah, no, never again."

0:40:43 > 0:40:47So I said, "I'm going to make my comeback, then."

0:40:47 > 0:40:49From the most successful British Olympian of all time

0:40:49 > 0:40:53to quite simply the most successful Olympian ever.

0:40:53 > 0:40:55At the beginning of the Games, he'd said,

0:40:55 > 0:40:57"I'm trying not to get over-emotional about this,

0:40:57 > 0:40:59"because essentially I've done it all,

0:40:59 > 0:41:01"it's now about how many toppings I want on my sundae."

0:41:01 > 0:41:04The greatest swimmer in history.

0:41:04 > 0:41:07He's got 14 Olympic gold medals.

0:41:07 > 0:41:08Michael Phelps is something else.

0:41:08 > 0:41:11To win that amount of gold medals for a nation would be pretty good,

0:41:11 > 0:41:13let alone an individual!

0:41:13 > 0:41:17I thought, coming into this Olympics, he was the greatest Olympian ever.

0:41:17 > 0:41:19It's probably one of the most anticipated races

0:41:19 > 0:41:21in Olympic history in the swimming pool.

0:41:21 > 0:41:24The guy turns up, everyone's talking trash about him anyway,

0:41:24 > 0:41:27saying Ryan Lochte is far better and he's the new breed.

0:41:27 > 0:41:29And on the first day that's how it looked.

0:41:29 > 0:41:32Is he going to get a medal? It doesn't look like it.

0:41:32 > 0:41:35Ryan Lochte wins the 400 medley.

0:41:35 > 0:41:38And look at that, Michael Phelps is fourth!

0:41:38 > 0:41:40He came fourth on the 400 medley,

0:41:40 > 0:41:43the event in which he was a world record holder,

0:41:43 > 0:41:47and you just thought, "This is going to be car-crash."

0:41:47 > 0:41:50Oh, my goodness me, Chad Le Clos won the gold!

0:41:50 > 0:41:53Somehow, some way, I think he sort of dug deeper,

0:41:53 > 0:41:55maybe than he ever had.

0:41:55 > 0:41:56What a superhero.

0:41:56 > 0:42:00The gold in the men's 4x200m freestyle goes to the USA,

0:42:00 > 0:42:03and Michael Phelps becomes the greatest Olympian in history

0:42:03 > 0:42:05with 19 medals.

0:42:08 > 0:42:11When he came back and he won the 100 fly,

0:42:11 > 0:42:12and it was an amazing race again,

0:42:12 > 0:42:14and I just thought, "Good on you, actually."

0:42:14 > 0:42:16It's Chad that's going to get it.

0:42:16 > 0:42:18No, Phelps has got, I think. Yes, he has.

0:42:18 > 0:42:22Michael Phelps has won, and the gold medal goes to Michael Phelps.

0:42:22 > 0:42:25Kids put their parents through all sorts of grief, don't they?

0:42:25 > 0:42:28Undoubtedly, Michael Phelps is the greatest Olympian of all time,

0:42:28 > 0:42:31if you look at the stats and the amount of medals he's got.

0:42:31 > 0:42:32It isn't that easy.

0:42:32 > 0:42:34He made it look easy, but it isn't easy.

0:42:36 > 0:42:39That's gold to the USA, that is the end of Michael Phelps,

0:42:39 > 0:42:43and where does he finish? He finishes right on top.

0:42:43 > 0:42:46His 18th Olympic gold medal.

0:42:46 > 0:42:4918 Olympic gold medals?

0:42:49 > 0:42:52You're not really leaving any for anyone else at that point, are you?

0:42:52 > 0:42:57More medals than anybody else has ever won in the Olympic Games.

0:42:57 > 0:42:58Talk about going out on a high note,

0:42:58 > 0:43:01he went out on a high note, no doubt about it.

0:43:01 > 0:43:04Utterly brilliant.

0:43:04 > 0:43:08There's definitely the argument that he's the greatest Olympian ever.

0:43:08 > 0:43:13He is extraordinary and you know you're in the presence of greatness.

0:43:13 > 0:43:14I dreamt of being the greatest.

0:43:14 > 0:43:17Looking back at my career, I've done everything I wanted.

0:43:22 > 0:43:26OK, we're down to the top three greatest Olympic moments of 2012.

0:43:26 > 0:43:29- Now it gets serious. - Can you be serious, then?

0:43:29 > 0:43:32- Because this whole show you've been messing around.- Yeah, all right.

0:43:32 > 0:43:34And at number three we have the face of the Games,

0:43:34 > 0:43:37the girl who, with the weight of the entire nation on her shoulders,

0:43:37 > 0:43:39delivered the performance of a lifetime

0:43:39 > 0:43:41and melted our hearts in the process.

0:43:41 > 0:43:44Hang on. Seeing as she is my girlfriend,

0:43:44 > 0:43:46I think I should introduce this next bit.

0:43:46 > 0:43:49But she's not your girlfriend, Greg, is she?

0:43:49 > 0:43:52Well, she is, she is to me, up here, in here and down...

0:43:52 > 0:43:53It's Jessica Ennis.

0:44:01 > 0:44:04I always thought Jess was going to handle the pressure well.

0:44:04 > 0:44:06It's not guaranteed, if you're the face of the Games,

0:44:06 > 0:44:08that you're going to succeed.

0:44:08 > 0:44:10Jess Ennis has got seven chances to get it right

0:44:10 > 0:44:12but seven chances to get it wrong.

0:44:14 > 0:44:16You know, this girl was the face of the Games.

0:44:17 > 0:44:21The face of the Games, and when she stepped on the track,

0:44:21 > 0:44:22it was just deafening.

0:44:22 > 0:44:25CROWD ROAR

0:44:25 > 0:44:28At that point, I think I was really nervous for her.

0:44:28 > 0:44:31The hurdles, it's full of jeopardy, you know,

0:44:31 > 0:44:34she only has to clip a barrier and that's her Olympic dream over.

0:44:37 > 0:44:39But she didn't do that.

0:44:39 > 0:44:42She tore up the track.

0:44:42 > 0:44:44And this is a tremendous run by Jessica Ennis!

0:44:44 > 0:44:47Oh, my goodness! Wow!

0:44:47 > 0:44:5312.54, the fastest hurdles I've ever seen by a heptathlete.

0:44:53 > 0:44:56And she came out and just absolutely nailed it.

0:44:56 > 0:44:58You can't hang a gold medal around her neck at that point,

0:44:58 > 0:44:59but you kind of go, "Wow."

0:45:02 > 0:45:03Who doesn't love Jessica Ennis?

0:45:03 > 0:45:06Show me one person who doesn't love Jessica Ennis!

0:45:06 > 0:45:09I thought, "There is way too much pressure on her, you know."

0:45:09 > 0:45:12You couldn't move without seeing a poster or a picture of her

0:45:12 > 0:45:13everywhere you went.

0:45:13 > 0:45:16And I was under the impression the pressure might be too much,

0:45:16 > 0:45:17but the fact that she delivered,

0:45:17 > 0:45:19the fact that she is as hot as she is,

0:45:19 > 0:45:23and the fact that you could griddle a steak on her stomach

0:45:23 > 0:45:27is both an achievement and a brilliant sight to see.

0:45:27 > 0:45:31I kind of look at the Olympians like I look at life,

0:45:31 > 0:45:32and I look at Jess Ennis,

0:45:32 > 0:45:35and I think, "Never, not in a million years."

0:45:35 > 0:45:37And I look at the boxers and think, "Maybe!"

0:45:37 > 0:45:41For me, Jess Ennis is...

0:45:41 > 0:45:44She's such an incredible role model for young girls.

0:45:44 > 0:45:48She just handles herself with such dignity and such grace,

0:45:48 > 0:45:51and she did an incredible job this year,

0:45:51 > 0:45:54and if my little girl grows up wanting to be the next Jess Ennis,

0:45:54 > 0:45:56then I'll be very happy.

0:45:56 > 0:45:59I don't know how she's coped so well with everything,

0:45:59 > 0:46:02so it's like the pressure of being in the Olympics,

0:46:02 > 0:46:05on top of it, she's a role model, not just because of race,

0:46:05 > 0:46:08but because she's also a female.

0:46:08 > 0:46:12You know, she ticks so many boxes that...it's impressive.

0:46:12 > 0:46:16She actually performed fantastically at the Games,

0:46:16 > 0:46:21and I think that she really does deserve everything she gets,

0:46:21 > 0:46:23because, you know, there was a lot of pressure on her.

0:46:26 > 0:46:28Deep down, I knew, I think the world knew

0:46:28 > 0:46:31that after the javelin, she had done enough.

0:46:31 > 0:46:34The 800m for Jess Ennis, short of tripping up,

0:46:34 > 0:46:36she basically knew what she had to do.

0:46:36 > 0:46:38She could have run four or five seconds slower in that 800.

0:46:40 > 0:46:41No chance!

0:46:41 > 0:46:45She went out there to run a personal best in the 800, then to win it.

0:46:45 > 0:46:46It was as though...

0:46:47 > 0:46:50..that gold medal depended on her winning that,

0:46:50 > 0:46:52she still delivered a performance in that last 200m

0:46:52 > 0:46:55where she was unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable.

0:46:55 > 0:46:57It was one of my favourite moments of the Games.

0:46:57 > 0:46:58And here goes Jess!

0:47:00 > 0:47:04She is going to be the Olympic champion.

0:47:04 > 0:47:06Everybody is on their feet.

0:47:06 > 0:47:10The pride of Sheffield, the pride of Great Britain.

0:47:10 > 0:47:13Jessica Ennis is the Olympic champion!

0:47:16 > 0:47:20When she crossed the line and her face just lit the stadium up,

0:47:20 > 0:47:23I don't think there was a dry eye in the house.

0:47:26 > 0:47:28A perfect two days

0:47:28 > 0:47:32for the Olympic heptathlon champion, Jessica Ennis.

0:47:36 > 0:47:39And so we come to the second greatest Olympic moment,

0:47:39 > 0:47:41and how could we complete this countdown

0:47:41 > 0:47:43without the most recognisable athlete on the planet

0:47:43 > 0:47:45and the fastest man in history?

0:47:45 > 0:47:48A man who, coming into the Games, had his doubters,

0:47:48 > 0:47:51who he duly swept aside along with his opponents,

0:47:51 > 0:47:55successfully defending the 4x100 relay and his 200 and 100m titles

0:47:55 > 0:47:59to cement himself as a true Olympic legend.

0:47:59 > 0:48:02OK, Greg, what are you doing?

0:48:02 > 0:48:04Er...lightning...Bolt.

0:48:04 > 0:48:06You look more like Robin Hood.

0:48:06 > 0:48:08- With wind.- Er, right.

0:48:08 > 0:48:12At number two, it is the great Usain Bolt.

0:48:12 > 0:48:14# Don't you know I'm loco? #

0:48:18 > 0:48:21The champion becomes a legend!

0:48:24 > 0:48:26He feels like a bit of a...

0:48:26 > 0:48:28a bit of a rebel and like one of the guys, you know.

0:48:28 > 0:48:32He's... He's just really, really entertaining.

0:48:32 > 0:48:34He's just like a lightning bolt of cool.

0:48:34 > 0:48:38He's the star. He's the big hitter, he's the main event.

0:48:38 > 0:48:39He IS the show.

0:48:39 > 0:48:41You take Bolt out of athletics

0:48:41 > 0:48:43and you've got a massive void at the moment.

0:48:45 > 0:48:47I accomplished what I came to London to do,

0:48:47 > 0:48:49so for me I'm very proud of myself.

0:48:52 > 0:48:54- STEVE CRAM:- The moment of truth

0:48:54 > 0:48:56has finally arrived.

0:48:56 > 0:48:58The 100m Olympic final.

0:49:00 > 0:49:01Bolt not very quickly out of the blocks,

0:49:01 > 0:49:02Powell was the quickest,

0:49:02 > 0:49:05but Bolt is getting into his stride alongside Gatlin,

0:49:05 > 0:49:07and here comes Usain Bolt!

0:49:07 > 0:49:09He's pulling away! He's going to win the gold!

0:49:09 > 0:49:119.64!

0:49:15 > 0:49:17I think Bolt was fantastic.

0:49:17 > 0:49:21That was the best 100m final of all time, really.

0:49:21 > 0:49:22He still comes out on top.

0:49:24 > 0:49:27It's a fine event, but my God, it's short.

0:49:27 > 0:49:30I got 100m tickets because I spend an entire weekend

0:49:30 > 0:49:35with my wife's family, ignoring them while I refreshed the page

0:49:35 > 0:49:39over and over and over, literally just sitting there doing that,

0:49:39 > 0:49:42and eventually went, "I got tickets to the 100m final,"

0:49:42 > 0:49:44because eventually two random tickets popped up.

0:49:44 > 0:49:46But the damn thing is done so fast.

0:49:46 > 0:49:49He's box office, he's good fun,

0:49:49 > 0:49:52and he does what most men would like to do

0:49:52 > 0:49:54and celebrate with...Swedish women.

0:49:54 > 0:49:56# Every day I'm shufflin'... #

0:49:56 > 0:49:59I have to highly recommend the Swedish handball team.

0:49:59 > 0:50:02I mean, he could do worse!

0:50:02 > 0:50:04Bolt is a bad man.

0:50:05 > 0:50:08# Shufflin', shufflin'... #

0:50:08 > 0:50:10Silence descends.

0:50:10 > 0:50:11The 200m final.

0:50:11 > 0:50:16What, I suppose, struck me most was the incredible silence.

0:50:16 > 0:50:18Shh...

0:50:18 > 0:50:21You can literally hear a pin drop. It was amazing.

0:50:23 > 0:50:25It's a clean start, Bolt is out of the blocks really well,

0:50:25 > 0:50:28he's already storming round that bend.

0:50:29 > 0:50:31They were just like...pff!

0:50:31 > 0:50:33And they're massive, and they're huge,

0:50:33 > 0:50:35it's unbelievable to watch it in the flesh.

0:50:35 > 0:50:38You watch it on TV and think, "Give a little clap, that was good,"

0:50:38 > 0:50:40then you go and make some toast.

0:50:40 > 0:50:42This... This, you kind of get sucked into it.

0:50:42 > 0:50:46Bolt is going to do it again! Gold all the way!

0:50:46 > 0:50:49You know, Bolt, what an athlete. Unbelievable presence.

0:50:49 > 0:50:52Well, the relay...the relay was just...

0:50:52 > 0:50:53We were very confident.

0:50:53 > 0:50:55It wasn't a matter of fact if we were going to win,

0:50:55 > 0:50:58as long as we got the stick around - it was so fast, we were going to go.

0:50:58 > 0:51:02Bolt's going to have it in the lead, and you know what that means!

0:51:02 > 0:51:05Here he goes, Bolt is away and gone!

0:51:05 > 0:51:08Jamaica are the gold medallists again!

0:51:08 > 0:51:10Along with Ali and the defining figures of sport,

0:51:10 > 0:51:13Bolt is right up there, right up there, just extraordinary.

0:51:18 > 0:51:20# Hola! Me llamo Mimi

0:51:22 > 0:51:24# I love London! #

0:51:24 > 0:51:28So we've had 49 amazing, jaw-dropping,

0:51:28 > 0:51:31tear-inducing moments, and now we're down to the final one.

0:51:31 > 0:51:34It's time to celebrate the exploits of someone

0:51:34 > 0:51:36who'd already gone down in British sporting history

0:51:36 > 0:51:39by winning the country's first ever long-distance gold

0:51:39 > 0:51:45with a truly phenomenal 10,000m run on that sensational Super Saturday.

0:51:45 > 0:51:47I think the real importance about sport,

0:51:47 > 0:51:50what makes sport great is when you really care about who wins.

0:51:55 > 0:51:59Distance running generally is so competitive.

0:51:59 > 0:52:01It's so difficult to be dominant.

0:52:04 > 0:52:08- STEVE CRAM: - So, the 10,000m final underway.

0:52:08 > 0:52:10Mo Farah was just...just phenomenal.

0:52:16 > 0:52:20And those final two laps... it was just...

0:52:20 > 0:52:23I don't think I saw the last lap, I was crying so much.

0:52:25 > 0:52:27Farah is kicking hard!

0:52:27 > 0:52:30The crowd are lifting him! They're cheering him on!

0:52:31 > 0:52:35Farah into the home straight, just 100m to go! Has he got enough?

0:52:35 > 0:52:39He's kicking again! Mo Farah is going for it!

0:52:39 > 0:52:41It's going to be a glorious, glorious win!

0:52:42 > 0:52:47Mo Farah for Great Britain! It's gold!

0:52:47 > 0:52:50He was more surprised than anyone that he won.

0:52:50 > 0:52:52His face when he crossed the finish line was almost like,

0:52:52 > 0:52:54"I can't believe...

0:52:54 > 0:52:57"Have I done this? Is this me? Is this really happening?"

0:52:57 > 0:53:01I think that he was confused that it all happened the way it did,

0:53:01 > 0:53:05and for somebody to be that humble who is that talented is awesome.

0:53:05 > 0:53:08I just... I've never experienced something like this, it's just...

0:53:08 > 0:53:11It doesn't come round often, and to have it right on your doorstep,

0:53:11 > 0:53:14and the amount of people supporting you, shouting out your name is...

0:53:14 > 0:53:17It's never going to get better, this is the best moment of my life.

0:53:19 > 0:53:22Well, his wife Tania is expecting twins shortly!

0:53:24 > 0:53:27In all of this excitement, hang on, Tania, hang on!

0:53:27 > 0:53:30Get on the track, go on, go on the track!

0:53:30 > 0:53:35When his wife and daughter came on to the field, I just thought

0:53:35 > 0:53:37that was a real nice moment, to celebrate it with his family.

0:53:43 > 0:53:44STEVE CRAM LAUGHS

0:53:44 > 0:53:47Great scenes! Lovely, lovely scenes.

0:53:49 > 0:53:52He's a great man, and now with his wife on the track,

0:53:52 > 0:53:53what a glorious moment.

0:53:54 > 0:53:57Oh... What a picture!

0:53:57 > 0:53:59What a night.

0:53:59 > 0:54:03That meant so much to me, seeing my daughter just like really emotional.

0:54:03 > 0:54:07She was just coming up running to me, and I was just like, "Wow..."

0:54:15 > 0:54:18# It's fun to stay at the YMCA... #

0:54:18 > 0:54:19My ears get in the way.

0:54:19 > 0:54:22# It's fun to stay at the YMCA. #

0:54:22 > 0:54:23Ka-tish!

0:54:25 > 0:54:28Let's be honest, the Mobot is a rubbish celebration,

0:54:28 > 0:54:30but I think the fact that it is so rubbish

0:54:30 > 0:54:33and that he is as good as he is is what makes it pretty cool.

0:54:33 > 0:54:37You know, I liked that Usain Bolt also paid tribute as well!

0:54:40 > 0:54:42Who told him that that was a cool thing to do?

0:54:42 > 0:54:44Who convinced him that was an appropriate movement

0:54:44 > 0:54:48to do at the Olympics? It's the most embarrassing.

0:54:48 > 0:54:49Clare Balding came up with the Mobot.

0:54:49 > 0:54:53A few months before the Olympics, I was on a show with Mo,

0:54:53 > 0:54:55and we were talking about what would be his celebration,

0:54:55 > 0:54:58we'd invent a kind of... a gesture for him

0:54:58 > 0:55:01to rival the Usain Bolt thing.

0:55:01 > 0:55:06And I suggested the M from YMCA, the M for Mo.

0:55:06 > 0:55:09And then it got christened the Mobot by James Corden.

0:55:09 > 0:55:10And Mo did it!
