:00:00. > :00:00.the way that at 150 they picked it up. They certainly did, they came

:00:00. > :00:10.through. So the medallist in 2012 in this category in the front of the

:00:11. > :00:15.boat. He was just ahead of the pairing of Scofield and Heath that

:00:16. > :00:18.we see and Liam's birthday, he will be looking forward to coming out and

:00:19. > :00:24.giving himself a present of making it into the finals. It is extremely

:00:25. > :00:28.tight racing and that is what we'll see later the semifinals where it

:00:29. > :00:33.will really code. Neck and neck but what this bias crew did really well

:00:34. > :00:40.is they came through the pace, which we saw yesterday. They were slightly

:00:41. > :00:47.behind in the pace character and the paddle that can come through in the

:00:48. > :00:51.last 100 metres and can hold on in the last 20-10 metres towards the

:00:52. > :00:56.line is where it can be really lost. They pick up the maximum speed in

:00:57. > :00:57.the first 30 or 35 metres. Then it is a question of preventing

:00:58. > :00:59.Then it is a question of preventing deceleration.

:01:00. > :01:04.It isn't so much that the boat to get faster, the borders around you

:01:05. > :01:11.are slowing down. That happened with Carrington yesterday.

:01:12. > :01:18.But what can the British boat do? They must be a little concerned.

:01:19. > :01:22.Left behind a touch off the start, they were in it at halfway but then

:01:23. > :01:30.had nothing to respond to the Spaniards. Equally, they didn't give

:01:31. > :01:34.away a lot, they were right in a good position. I don't think they

:01:35. > :01:42.will be too concerned, it was very good times. They've been in this

:01:43. > :01:48.position before, they will be aware that that is what happens with the

:01:49. > :01:52.Spanish but in the 200 metre racing there is not a lot of reacting to

:01:53. > :01:56.what happens around you, it's just a matter of getting out very quick and

:01:57. > :02:02.then trying to keep that drive and that cadence at the same time.

:02:03. > :02:05.Trying to keep the tension out of the main muscle groups, the legs and

:02:06. > :02:15.the abdominals doing so much work, much more than most people

:02:16. > :02:27.appreciate. 0.37 of a second behind the winning time for the Spaniards.

:02:28. > :02:38.Well, there are the crews going through to the semis. But everyone

:02:39. > :02:44.who took part in the heats it through to the semis, slightly

:02:45. > :02:49.bizarre situation, only two crews from the semifinal making it through

:02:50. > :02:53.to the final. Lithuania a couple of moments ago. Great Britain in lane

:02:54. > :02:57.five, Heath and Schofield, bronze medallist from four years ago. They

:02:58. > :03:01.have to finish in the first three if they want a chance on improving on

:03:02. > :03:05.that. Away they go at the start and it's a good start from Heath and

:03:06. > :03:09.Schofield. They've got themselves in a very good position at the moment.

:03:10. > :03:15.Brazil going hard in lane six, trying to content. Schofield and

:03:16. > :03:20.Heath are still there, looking very good in lane five. This is more like

:03:21. > :03:25.it. Germany have moved up into second position as the Serbians drop

:03:26. > :03:29.away, rate Britain, Germany and Serbia are the 1-2- three. There

:03:30. > :03:34.will be no change, Great Britain take the win and a good run from

:03:35. > :03:43.Germany as well, Serbia started well but faded in the last half of the

:03:44. > :03:47.race. Heath and Schofield warmed up in the heats, produced something

:03:48. > :03:50.special in the semis. They have won themselves not only a place in the

:03:51. > :03:56.eight final but they will win themselves a decent lane as well.

:03:57. > :04:01.The wind has switched directions. We weren't expecting it to be faster

:04:02. > :04:04.than the heats. Fantastic performance, very commanding. It is

:04:05. > :04:11.something they are good at, getting off to a quick start. Making sure

:04:12. > :04:20.they can hold onto it. What a great performance. A lovely way for a Liam

:04:21. > :04:27.to enjoy his birthday. He can be very comfortable now and hang out

:04:28. > :04:31.again tomorrow. They will be in those middle lane draws. A great win

:04:32. > :04:38.in the semifinal for Jon Schofield and Liam Heath. Yes, Liam Heath and

:04:39. > :04:43.ex-student from Loughborough in the week, 20 of last brain these

:04:44. > :04:48.students out here, either working or competing, and their record goes on

:04:49. > :04:54.and on. Liam Heath at the front of the boat doing such good work early

:04:55. > :04:59.on to get the boat up to speed. Then the timing was perfect. Schofield

:05:00. > :05:06.just taking away, planting the blade fractionally early and Liam Heath

:05:07. > :05:15.and they have mastered the K2 discipline. Good result. They will

:05:16. > :05:20.analyse this result, have a look at it this evening, decide if any

:05:21. > :05:29.tweaking is required. In terms of recovery before Tamara's eight

:05:30. > :05:35.final. They are getting off at the moment but they will have a rest,

:05:36. > :05:43.get out of the heat, make sure they eat and drink plenty and then get

:05:44. > :05:47.ready for tomorrow. Liam, Jon, well done. You made a quick start and

:05:48. > :05:51.that seems to be what you guys are best at. Yes, we got a really good

:05:52. > :05:55.start out of the gates. That's really the leaving you think about

:05:56. > :05:58.going into the blocks, a solid connection and the rest just

:05:59. > :06:02.unfolded from there. Of course to win means that you get a good lane

:06:03. > :06:07.in the final. Absolutely but any lane in the final is a good lane! We

:06:08. > :06:11.get to race again tomorrow for medals and really looking forward to

:06:12. > :06:14.it. London was a fantastic performance but it said expectations

:06:15. > :06:19.up for a lot of people coming here. What were your expectations when you

:06:20. > :06:23.arrived? Arrived here? We just expected to go and give it

:06:24. > :06:28.everything we've got. A pretty good right now than we just did that and

:06:29. > :06:32.the 200 metres, especially K2, has developed so much further since four

:06:33. > :06:36.years ago, the times have been dropping and dropping every year, so

:06:37. > :06:41.it's an incredibly competitive field and great to be in the final. How

:06:42. > :06:46.easy is it to turn yourself around for the final tomorrow? No problem,

:06:47. > :06:49.you can't ask for any more motivation, can you? We didn't fully

:06:50. > :06:53.stretch ourselves in that semifinal, there's more to come, and we've got

:06:54. > :06:57.a good team back at the hotel ready to sort us out and around the bike

:06:58. > :07:08.is your birthday, Liam? It is, 32. What a way to spend it! It is, it's

:07:09. > :07:18.not really at the forefront of my mind, other things on my mind! But

:07:19. > :07:21.thanks. Happy birthday! Thank you. The graduation is.

:07:22. > :07:35.There you see Heath and Schofield qualifying through to the eight

:07:36. > :07:42.finals. They will get a decent draw and they will be on one side or the

:07:43. > :07:43.other of the Spanish and Lithuanians, having produced the

:07:44. > :07:51.fastest time in those semifinals. What a perfect way for Liam Heath to

:07:52. > :07:55.celebrate his birthday, powering into the final alongside John

:07:56. > :08:01.Schofield. At the birthday week will only be compete if they come away

:08:02. > :08:06.with top honours on Friday. Oh no, it's tomorrow, 1:47pm. It will be

:08:07. > :08:14.here on the BBC. We keep across that K2 100 metre final. That set things

:08:15. > :08:19.up very nicely for Great Britain's Rachel Cawthorn, who is going into

:08:20. > :08:25.K-1 500 metres. She was an Olympian in 2012 and she came sixth in the

:08:26. > :08:29.final. Unfortunately for her, 2012 was disrupted quite a lot by illness

:08:30. > :08:34.but she think she has come back even stronger from that. She has a hit to

:08:35. > :08:41.get through first, so let's see how she gets on, with Patrick and Alan.

:08:42. > :08:54.I'm sure the Polish team will keep half an eye on Lisa Carrington to

:08:55. > :09:03.say how she does. The black and white craft is Carrington's. Already

:09:04. > :09:08.establishing herself. She has a lead over those on the near side, but

:09:09. > :09:16.Emma Jorgensen of Denmark, who didn't finish the World Championship

:09:17. > :09:20.final, actually not looking too bad. A very solid start from her but will

:09:21. > :09:27.she be able to hold this pace all the way through? Look for the

:09:28. > :09:31.fluency of Carrington. It looks so easy, the blade going into the water

:09:32. > :09:36.is clean, as they come up to the halfway stage it is between New

:09:37. > :09:41.Zealand and Denmark. The first three going through to the semifinals. No

:09:42. > :09:45.opportunity to make it through to tomorrow's A final, and because of

:09:46. > :09:50.that I think Carrington will just take it nice and easy. A lane we

:09:51. > :09:56.should be looking at specifically with the technique? It is all about

:09:57. > :09:58.making sure you pull your body passed the blade rather than the

:09:59. > :10:02.other way round, pulling your blade to the body. That is when you get

:10:03. > :10:08.the connection and the real power comes. Carrington stretching out

:10:09. > :10:12.with that long reach. You want the whole blade coming in, that is

:10:13. > :10:23.really key. Carrington is just really extending her lead on the

:10:24. > :10:27.rest of the field. Showing her rotation on her hips which is also

:10:28. > :10:33.important, and also generating as much power from other parts of the

:10:34. > :10:38.body as well as the arms. Here comes Carrington, going through to the

:10:39. > :10:43.semis. Denmark wins with Jorgensen starting fast, Great Britain safely

:10:44. > :10:47.through and Portugal in a photo finish with Great Britain but that

:10:48. > :10:51.won't make too much difference. Rachel Cawthorn I think it can be

:10:52. > :10:55.reasonably satisfied but she has a taste of what she has to compete

:10:56. > :10:59.with if she wants to win a medal here. Carrington silky smooth off

:11:00. > :11:06.the start line and then just settled off the start line. I shouldn't

:11:07. > :11:10.think her pulse has gone over 120! She certainly looks very

:11:11. > :11:14.comfortable. She looked really comfortable on this water. She is

:11:15. > :11:19.the girl to beat. She is the girl of the moment and she will come up

:11:20. > :11:26.against tough competition from Kozak from Hungary who we will see going

:11:27. > :11:32.in the next hit. -- the next heat. When we see them all side-by-side, a

:11:33. > :11:40.real contrast in styles. Carrington sits nice and upright and you can

:11:41. > :11:45.see the back muscles and the lats coming into play. In the endurance

:11:46. > :11:49.events you have to have the injury and is in the arms. The training

:11:50. > :11:54.would be quite different to what we see over 1000 metres.

:11:55. > :12:01.Certainly looking at the contrast between the Dane and Carrington, you

:12:02. > :12:02.can see how much more pelvic rotation there was from Lisa

:12:03. > :12:14.Carrington. An absolute superstar in New

:12:15. > :12:22.Zealand. Totally dominated the K-1 200 metres at World Championship and

:12:23. > :12:29.Olympic level. We have only had two finals of K-1 at 200 metres and she

:12:30. > :12:34.has been in both of them. Not a bad turnout for the Canoe sprint today.

:12:35. > :12:39.The Brazilians continued to perform better than -- if the Brazilians

:12:40. > :12:45.continued to perform better than we are expecting, we will see a few

:12:46. > :12:53.packing in over the next few days. Here at the Lagoa Stadium.

:12:54. > :13:05.Rachel Cawthorn is through. Her kayak club will be happy about that.

:13:06. > :13:12.And a difficult draw alongside Lisa Carrington and Lisa Carrington

:13:13. > :13:17.started very, very fast. Cawthorne in lane two, has to get a good

:13:18. > :13:25.start. There you can see that GB are last to settle. Four years

:13:26. > :13:34.preparation. Can she take it one step further and make the Olympic A

:13:35. > :13:36.final. Lane five expected to bridges the fastest time over the first 50

:13:37. > :13:48.metres. They are under way and Osipenko with

:13:49. > :13:51.a very fast art indeed. The camera angle makes the ones on the near

:13:52. > :13:58.side always look like they're going faster, but a very good start.

:13:59. > :14:06.Cawthorne has pulled clear of Hartley of South Africa but is down

:14:07. > :14:15.in fourth position at the moment. Just the other side of Osipenko is

:14:16. > :14:18.Emily Caudal in second place. Really taking it out very strong, it's all

:14:19. > :14:26.going to be about what is happening behind her. On the left-hand side of

:14:27. > :14:31.her you have got Emily and then you have got the German athlete and

:14:32. > :14:38.Rachel Cawthorn in to be keeping has in the race at the moment. Fourth or

:14:39. > :14:45.fifth at the moment, the times through the checkpoint. A lot of

:14:46. > :14:53.work for Rachel Cawthorn to do in the last 1500 metres. Now Cawthorne

:14:54. > :14:59.starting to come into it but as she improves, so does the German

:15:00. > :15:03.athlete. Only two positions up for grabs unless this turns out to be

:15:04. > :15:11.the biggest semi but with the conditions we've got at the moment,

:15:12. > :15:17.I think that's unlikely. Cawthorne putting in a last-minute bid, she

:15:18. > :15:21.has got 100 metres or so to gain an automatic place and automatic

:15:22. > :15:25.litigation into the final. The German athlete wanting gold after

:15:26. > :15:28.the disappointment of yesterday, missing out by such a small margin

:15:29. > :15:42.in the race up against the Hungarians.

:15:43. > :15:50.Again, disappointment for the British women here at the canoe

:15:51. > :16:03.sprint. Ostapenko gets the win. Is it Portela through? Frenzy Webber

:16:04. > :16:20.got the win. -- Franzi Weber. The results from a third semifinal. Only

:16:21. > :16:28.two going through, for no Marengo -- Ponomarenko is in the B final.

:16:29. > :16:31.That's where Cawthorn will be. That will be a great climax to the

:16:32. > :17:07.moral's action. -- tomorrow's. What for years it has been for the

:17:08. > :17:13.great British women's hockey players. It has been quite the

:17:14. > :17:16.story. After the third place they got at London 2012, caught Danny

:17:17. > :17:21.Kerry became the team's performance director and in came Jason Lee who

:17:22. > :17:25.quit in 2014 after they finished 11 out of 12 in the World Cup. Back

:17:26. > :17:32.came Danny Kerry who guided England to Commonwealth silver in 2014, the

:17:33. > :17:36.same year, 2015 was better, they went on an incredible unbeaten run

:17:37. > :17:41.in the world league finals and then things took a turn for the worse in

:17:42. > :17:47.2016, coming fifth out of six in the champions Trophy on home turf in

:17:48. > :17:52.London. They have regrouped and here Rio 2016 and are the form team, six

:17:53. > :17:57.out of six wins so far, in the semifinals and most recently won 3-1

:17:58. > :18:00.against Spain. An incredible run with the ups and downs and different

:18:01. > :18:02.cultures. What is important is the team have stuck together which Clive

:18:03. > :18:14.Woodward was all about. I did three Olympic Games, the

:18:15. > :18:19.Beijing games, Vancouver and London. From the outside you see the smooth

:18:20. > :18:23.running ship but behind-the-scenes it is quite a complex business,

:18:24. > :18:28.especially when you're bringing 26 sports together as one team. The

:18:29. > :18:31.culture of all 26 is very different. It is not as simple as getting

:18:32. > :18:35.everyone in the room and giving their tracksuit and saying we're

:18:36. > :18:38.part of Team GB, you have to understand how every team functions

:18:39. > :18:45.and try and get everyone to work together. Beijing was my first

:18:46. > :18:48.Olympics and when I spoke to people like Ben Ainslie and Chris Hoy and

:18:49. > :18:54.Rebecca Adlington who had done several games, their knowledge was

:18:55. > :18:59.enormous. When you take a leadership position you can learn so much about

:19:00. > :19:03.your team. Do you approach different team sports differently in how to

:19:04. > :19:07.build the winning spirit? I don't think so, at the end of the day even

:19:08. > :19:11.the smaller teams if you take an athlete or diver, they tend to work

:19:12. > :19:18.together, Here is the sport. Is on so much. If every individual in a

:19:19. > :19:21.team stepped up to the plate to have a chance of being successful. In a

:19:22. > :19:25.team if one individual lets you down the entire thing can fall apart.

:19:26. > :19:30.Great teams are made of great individuals. It doesn't matter that

:19:31. > :19:32.is individual sports team sports. Everyone is pumped up and trying to

:19:33. > :19:38.improve with the chance of doing something quite special. How

:19:39. > :19:43.important is a leader within the team. I'm not speaking specifically

:19:44. > :19:48.about captains. Most of what did about leading teams if you don't get

:19:49. > :19:54.respect by being the leader, you get respect by quality of your actions

:19:55. > :19:57.and what you do. I am very clear I can learn a lot from every

:19:58. > :20:04.individual player. My demand is every player in the room contributes

:20:05. > :20:07.and inputs all of their thoughts and knowledge and what we're trying to

:20:08. > :20:13.do. My job as a leader is trying to disseminate that and work out the

:20:14. > :20:18.best way of doing it. The Olympics is such a complex environment to

:20:19. > :20:21.operate in, so many things can go wrong, there are distractions and so

:20:22. > :20:26.many things are excuses and you got to get them out of the way. And the

:20:27. > :20:30.pair for every eventuality -- prepare for the people want to look

:20:31. > :20:35.back and say we did not win because this happened and we weren't

:20:36. > :20:39.prepared. How do you plan for that level of pressure if you're someone

:20:40. > :20:44.like Michael Phelps, one of the people that everyone is looking at,

:20:45. > :20:49.Usain Bolt? You think through every single scenario but what you cannot

:20:50. > :20:53.do is get here and start doing it, this should have been done weeks,

:20:54. > :20:59.months, almost years, building up and going into a scenario, all the

:21:00. > :21:02.scenarios you can write down and discussing your team rooms and put

:21:03. > :21:09.them away and keep adding that eventually when you get here nothing

:21:10. > :21:15.can happen that will cause you any pressure or stress because you are

:21:16. > :21:18.prepared for it. You used to plan for the bus breaking down the way

:21:19. > :21:25.the World Cup. We arrived right on kick-off will we blame the bus? We

:21:26. > :21:30.still have to win. It is coachable but you cannot buying it in, it is

:21:31. > :21:37.true feeding of weeks, months and years. As Sir Clive was suggesting,

:21:38. > :21:43.you've got to stick together in the hard times and one person who has

:21:44. > :21:46.been through it all is captain Kate Richardson-Walsh, you might remember

:21:47. > :21:51.she took a stick to the face in 2012 and it broke her jaw, but still came

:21:52. > :21:55.back to lead the team to the bronze medal. She's been through those ups

:21:56. > :22:00.and downs and in that time she got married to her long-term partner

:22:01. > :22:03.Helen at became Britain's most capped female hockey player of

:22:04. > :22:08.all-time foods that there was talk of a retiring but she is here in Rio

:22:09. > :22:17.and if this will be her swansong she will lead it all out on the field.

:22:18. > :22:26.I've been in the senior team 17 years. I changed, the game has

:22:27. > :22:30.changed, up to Sydney we were wearing men's polo shirts and

:22:31. > :22:34.massive baggie skirts. It was a real trial to get us together because we

:22:35. > :22:40.were not a full-time programme there as you cut now, we are full-time, it

:22:41. > :22:47.is night and day. It is complete indifference to see the transition

:22:48. > :22:52.has been amazing. Ouch. London 2012 come broken jaw, heroic

:22:53. > :22:56.performances, tears, remind us of those experiences four years ago?

:22:57. > :23:00.When I look back to the London Olympics, it feels like I'm watching

:23:01. > :23:03.a movie and there is someone else in it, it is so real. The fracture my

:23:04. > :23:09.job it is the worst injury touch with that I've sustained. Tired of

:23:10. > :23:11.it in the first game of the home Olympics was the most unfortunate

:23:12. > :23:17.thing and I remember watching the team play Korea in a hospital bed I

:23:18. > :23:22.had my operation and I was so calm and proud because all of the work

:23:23. > :23:28.that we had done was on the pitch for me to what on TV. As soon as I

:23:29. > :23:33.was told I could rejoin the team we were going for this with our lives.

:23:34. > :23:39.It was an amazing two weeks. You're seen as money for the team? I am a

:23:40. > :23:45.mother hen. I care, as we all do, we spend so much time with each other

:23:46. > :23:48.and you become so involved that you really care about the person on the

:23:49. > :23:53.pitch and off the pitch and what goes around their life and their

:23:54. > :23:58.relationships. It is all part and parcel of caring for each other,

:23:59. > :24:02.which makes us tight as a group. Do you consider yourself an ambassador

:24:03. > :24:04.not just for Great Britain at Rocky in general? Absolutely. We know that

:24:05. > :24:09.the Olympics is a massive shop window and from hockey, a sport

:24:10. > :24:12.played by an enormous number of people but in terms of media

:24:13. > :24:17.coverage it is a minority sport, so we have to take this opportunity and

:24:18. > :24:22.grab it. We are 31 women, all different ages and backgrounds,

:24:23. > :24:25.likes and dislikes and we have a great range of role models to send

:24:26. > :24:31.out and say it doesn't matter if you're small or at all or whatever,

:24:32. > :24:35.you can play hockey and that is what we represent in the squad. The

:24:36. > :24:40.fourth Olympics, is it possible this might be the last one for you? Yes,

:24:41. > :24:47.I think it is time. People are fed up of me now. I just feel like it's

:24:48. > :24:51.come to a natural end. I'm 36, my body still feels really good and I'm

:24:52. > :24:54.still fit and loving it and I think there are challenges ahead for me

:24:55. > :24:59.but not it the international stage and is now I'm taking one day at a

:25:00. > :25:07.time, the old boring stuff, focusing on that and afterwards what will be

:25:08. > :25:10.will be. And what a day could be for Pete Richardson. She will lead to a

:25:11. > :25:16.Great Britain team into the semifinals this evening. 9pm on BBC

:25:17. > :25:19.One against New Zealand. A favourable draw in that after being

:25:20. > :25:28.so successful in the five stroke wins in the groups. Be there or be

:25:29. > :25:30.square. We will focus on the other semifinal featuring Olympic

:25:31. > :25:37.champions the Netherlands against Germany. It got underway a few

:25:38. > :25:41.moments ago. In the first quarter, believe it or not, the Germans went

:25:42. > :25:50.ahead. She shoots, she scores and Lisa Schultz of Germany. Sorry, the

:25:51. > :25:55.editor gave me that pun. Germany are ahead, leading by 1-0. We join the

:25:56. > :26:04.second quarter at the Olympic Stadium in Deodoro with the Germans

:26:05. > :26:08.still leading by 1-0. Commentators, the Netherlands are not done yet and

:26:09. > :26:13.they will come back strong. Nine World Championships they have one to

:26:14. > :26:21.date. Germany leads by 1-0. Milk will and Max Chilton are there.

:26:22. > :26:28.COMMENTATOR: The second quarterback to get

:26:29. > :26:32.underway after a longer than usual. What has happened here? One of the

:26:33. > :26:38.German players is going off before the quarter has even started. Annika

:26:39. > :26:43.Sprink, who hobbled off in the first quarter, has started on the field

:26:44. > :26:48.ready to play in the second quarter and then helped away from the match.

:26:49. > :26:54.I don't understand what happened. Maybe she went into the huddle after

:26:55. > :26:58.the quarter time and has maybe try to do some running and turning and

:26:59. > :27:02.clearly there is a instability in the knee joint. Work for the physios

:27:03. > :27:06.and doctors to do, whether we see her again today remains to be seen

:27:07. > :27:12.but you that does not spell the end of her tournament. I would think if

:27:13. > :27:19.she has been helped off twice that would be enough for the German team

:27:20. > :27:22.to say, no more for you. Good start to the second quarter for the

:27:23. > :27:31.Netherlands. They are a penalty corner as the ball flew off a German

:27:32. > :27:35.leg. It is the ball in, Belton does really well to get a touch on the

:27:36. > :27:39.reverse stick, you can see as Arous comes to make the save she kicks the

:27:40. > :27:47.ball with her right foot. Hopefully a better injection from Kitty

:27:48. > :27:50.Mangala van Gaal at this time. Look out for 16 and 13, those other

:27:51. > :27:56.players to watch at the set piece for the Netherlands, who trailed by

:27:57. > :28:06.1-0. Second penalty corner of the match for the Dutch. That is a great

:28:07. > :28:14.goal. Our beauty from Polman Dott Paumen. -- from Paumen. 1-1.

:28:15. > :28:19.Izagirre why she is regarded as the best drag flicker in the world and

:28:20. > :28:21.what I love is she is closing in on a 200 international goals and

:28:22. > :28:26.celebrates like it is her first. It is a ripper down the sick cosmic

:28:27. > :28:31.stick side of Kristina Reynolds who takes half a step to her left,

:28:32. > :28:35.probably beat her, the disguise she get generates on her corners is

:28:36. > :28:39.fantastic and one to try and model if you're trying to learn the skill.

:28:40. > :28:44.The driving force behind this Dutch team has got them back in it. The

:28:45. > :28:49.captain scores. The Dutch supporters on their feet celebrating. The

:28:50. > :28:54.Netherlands are right back in this Olympic semifinal.

:28:55. > :29:31.Aerial balls. Aim for Kitty van Male. The Dutch still have

:29:32. > :29:37.possession. Fast move. Pushing it down to Keetels, who drives it back

:29:38. > :29:43.in. But tackling from the German defence. Ellen Hoog was shaping up

:29:44. > :29:55.to swing at the ball but never got the chance. This looks promising for

:29:56. > :29:59.Germany. Teschke holds it up and waits for support, pushes it across.

:30:00. > :30:04.Acres of space. The Dutch run into each other, they collided on their

:30:05. > :30:11.way forward. But no serious damage done. I'm surprised Yana Cech the

:30:12. > :30:16.did not take on the final touch defender, she is quick in the German

:30:17. > :30:19.midfield. -- Dutch defender. She worked really hard, perhaps the one

:30:20. > :30:24.gritters is she doesn't really have a world-class shot at the end of it.

:30:25. > :30:25.But those are the chances of the Germans will win the game they must

:30:26. > :31:07.try and get an outcome out of it. Pulled back outside the circle now

:31:08. > :31:16.and the Germans can clean it up. Not for long, though! Good first touch

:31:17. > :31:19.as the ball was laid back. They have just given the ball away, but

:31:20. > :31:27.working really hard to give the ball back, both of these teams. Covering

:31:28. > :31:41.a lot of ground on the left for Germany, aerial ball, very nearly

:31:42. > :31:55.fell for them. Trying to steal bag possession for Germany through

:31:56. > :31:58.Stapenhorst. I think the key is discipline. You don't want to be

:31:59. > :32:09.down players when you play against anyone. The Dutch into the circle, a

:32:10. > :32:20.shooting opportunity. They need to blow the whistle and they have.

:32:21. > :32:23.Lorenz Downend in trouble. It's brave defending because the tackle

:32:24. > :32:37.has come in from what we call the wrong side. -- Lorenz down and in

:32:38. > :32:44.trouble. Sheet against huge blow, a swing and a miss from the Dutch

:32:45. > :32:49.player, Naomi van As. It's not a criticism of her at all but it looks

:32:50. > :32:54.as though she has got a cut to the head, possibly stitches required.

:32:55. > :32:57.Naomi van As is so difficult to stop because she is so strong. She does

:32:58. > :33:01.get clobbered with the follow-through. Absolutely no malice

:33:02. > :33:03.in that whatsoever and I'm sure a few ditches and she will be back on

:33:04. > :33:26.the field. -- a few stitches. The game should start with a bullied

:33:27. > :33:31.because they had to stop the game. German players pointing the finger

:33:32. > :33:36.at near me van As. The referee telling them what's what. I think

:33:37. > :33:45.they are accusing her of swinging deliberately at the player. Naomi

:33:46. > :33:49.van As just saying I think you need to give me the ball, which, to be

:33:50. > :33:58.fair to the Germans, I think that's what they're going to do. I think

:33:59. > :34:00.that's the right outcome. It can be an Olympic semifinal but

:34:01. > :34:05.sportsmanship has to take priority for both sides. Ten and a half

:34:06. > :34:10.minutes to half time, all square here. The Netherlands 1-1 Germany.

:34:11. > :34:22.Germany with a couple of injury concerns.

:34:23. > :34:35.Annika Spinka has gone off twice. That is good work from Naomi van As,

:34:36. > :34:46.able to get into some open space. Stolen by the Dutch, Jonker with a

:34:47. > :34:53.chance to turn and shoot but the whistle-blowers. There is a card,

:34:54. > :35:06.number 17 for Germany, she has got a green card. Jana Teschke. Germany

:35:07. > :35:18.with two on the injury list and one on the sin bin bench, slightly

:35:19. > :35:24.depleted at the moment. Jonker has just taken an absolute rocket from

:35:25. > :35:31.Julia Muller and she is in Axa league agony. Some -- it had hit her

:35:32. > :35:36.on the zero and glove hand. She has the medics around her on the Dutch

:35:37. > :35:42.bench. The physicality of this sport never ceases to amaze me. The way

:35:43. > :35:50.that the players fall and bounce back up. It puts football to shame,

:35:51. > :35:57.sometimes. I think it puts a lot of sports to shame, not just football.

:35:58. > :36:09.Well, maybe football! Fluidly, and I'm 100 ascent with you on that one.

:36:10. > :36:30.Naomi van As drags it back, elegant running. Deceptively quick. Oh! That

:36:31. > :36:34.was not far-away. Pushed forward but behind harmlessly enough. So,

:36:35. > :36:52.Germany will get the free hit just in front of their circle.

:36:53. > :37:03.Janne Muller-Wieland Find a bit of space and plays it down the line,

:37:04. > :37:12.looking for Cecile Pieper. It has certainly been a more

:37:13. > :37:22.dominant performance by the Dutch in this quarter. Van As, to the line,

:37:23. > :37:26.on she goes, looking for a way past Kristina Reynolds. Can't find one

:37:27. > :37:39.yet. It's a fantastic run by Naomi van

:37:40. > :37:44.As, but really well played by the German defender, Kristina Reynolds

:37:45. > :38:00.did really well to react to that deflection.

:38:01. > :38:07.Well, the Dutch supporters outnumber the Germans by about three to one

:38:08. > :38:15.here this afternoon. They are making their presence felt at the moment.

:38:16. > :38:34.Ellen Hoog manages to get herself out of a city situation. Willemijn

:38:35. > :38:38.Bos sends it up but sadly the past didn't work. She needed to turn her

:38:39. > :38:39.body, regardless of whether the ball was bouncing or not she would have

:38:40. > :39:19.expected to drop it. Anne Schroder spreads it right, back

:39:20. > :39:26.to Schroder now. Good turn from Hauke, back to Muller-Wieland.

:39:27. > :39:31.Centre on its way and run out of play eventually by Germany. The

:39:32. > :39:38.Dutch will once again re-gain their shape and build from the back and it

:39:39. > :39:45.was the start of something decent looking for the Netherlands, as

:39:46. > :39:48.Teschke pigs or Dublin midfielder Germany. I think the problem the

:39:49. > :39:53.German coach has got is that both the injuries are to defenders. At

:39:54. > :39:58.the moment he is playing Jana Teschke as a left defender, she is

:39:59. > :40:02.normally a midfielder and she is quality. Potentially the Germans are

:40:03. > :40:18.weaker in one line because they are trying to strengthen in another one.

:40:19. > :40:30.This is once again in courage in four of the Netherlands, it is off a

:40:31. > :40:33.German foot, simply rolled back towards a German defender and the

:40:34. > :40:37.penalty corner is awarded, the third of the match for the Dutch and

:40:38. > :40:45.remember how devastating they were with the first one. A second penalty

:40:46. > :41:03.corner attempt, they will be hoping for a replication of that now. So

:41:04. > :41:11.difficult to defend Lidewij Welten. Bos is on the right-hand side of

:41:12. > :41:14.Dutch corner routine. Oh! What a save that time from Kristina

:41:15. > :41:32.Reynolds. Superb goalkeeping after Maartje Paumen's dry flick.

:41:33. > :41:36.Maartje Paumen trying to put it in the top corner and it is a massive

:41:37. > :41:41.glove saved by Kristina Reynolds. That has to give her a lot of

:41:42. > :41:45.confidence after the start of the quarter. She will be disappointed

:41:46. > :41:48.not to put that one on target. That's one of the best saves we've

:41:49. > :41:52.seen all tournament from Kristina Reynolds in the German goal. The

:41:53. > :41:58.Netherlands 1-1 Germany. Under four minutes to half-time in this

:41:59. > :42:10.Olympics semifinal. The good news for the Dutch is that Jonker is now

:42:11. > :42:24.back on the field, the blow she took doesn't appear to have broken any

:42:25. > :42:29.bones. Kelly Jonker number ten. Pieper On the left, for Germany. The

:42:30. > :42:34.German men played in all Black yesterday and were thumped by

:42:35. > :42:40.Argentina. Probably a better choice of strip for the women's side today

:42:41. > :42:46.to go for the white, cooler Kyla, in the hot mid-afternoon sun. The

:42:47. > :43:02.temperature in Rio is in the mid-30s. -- the cooler colour.

:43:03. > :43:08.Germany on their way. Laid back inside by Schutze. A bit unlike you

:43:09. > :43:12.there, she was bouncing the ball nicely into the turf. Into the

:43:13. > :43:24.circle and it was narrowly missed by the German attack. It was Charlotte

:43:25. > :43:31.Stapenhorst who held out her stick hoping for a touch. Meanwhile the

:43:32. > :43:36.Dutch break-up to the halfway line. Lisa Altenburg now shown the green

:43:37. > :43:39.card, another two minutes for a German player on the side. I think

:43:40. > :43:48.they need to try and eradicate these petulant cards. I think Hoog will be

:43:49. > :43:53.better sheep -- disappointed she didn't do better with that, taking

:43:54. > :44:00.it out of the sky. She forgot to do the first bit.

:44:01. > :44:15.Little break, falling nicely for van Male. The whistle has done, it will

:44:16. > :44:21.be Holland's free kit. -- free hit. Ellen Hoog standing over the circle.

:44:22. > :44:31.Driven in now, well watched, well read and well cleared by Julia

:44:32. > :44:34.Muller. So good to see her back on the international scene, she's been

:44:35. > :44:39.plagued by injuries for the last 12 months. Predominantly hamstring

:44:40. > :44:44.problems that have kept her out of a number of tournaments but it is

:44:45. > :44:47.great to see her back, she's got so much experience particularly in

:44:48. > :44:54.these situations that she can lend to some of the younger players. Into

:44:55. > :45:03.the final minute of the first half, 1-1 the scoreline, the Netherlands

:45:04. > :45:09.in possession, with van As, who just runs out of hockey field and takes

:45:10. > :45:10.it onto the green. Running repairs going on and discussions under way

:45:11. > :45:26.on the Dutch bench. Now I think all 22 players currently

:45:27. > :45:31.on the field, plus all the subs, will be happy to get off the field

:45:32. > :45:32.of play and on to somewhere cool. There is 15 seconds on the clock,

:45:33. > :45:45.the Dutch could strike again. Nike Lorenz is back on the field,

:45:46. > :45:52.she is literally on for the last 15 seconds of the half. And the

:45:53. > :45:57.half-time hooter sounds. An entertaining, compelling first 30

:45:58. > :46:01.minutes of hockey here De Gea adorable Olympic Hockey Centre. And

:46:02. > :46:06.the first women's Olympics a final is all square at half-time.

:46:07. > :46:15.I told you the Dutch were not done, they trailed in the second quarter

:46:16. > :46:20.but are back level. We'll be back with the match and second-half a bit

:46:21. > :46:26.later right here on BBC Four. Stay tuned for that and remind you, Great

:46:27. > :46:30.Britain going against Zealand later tonight. --

:46:31. > :46:39.that's the right badminton that I let's speak about badminton. In the

:46:40. > :46:43.men's singles he will have to do it the hard way to get into even the

:46:44. > :46:45.semifinal. First let's bring up-to-date with the quarterfinal

:46:46. > :46:51.line-up because we now have three of our semifinalists. We showed you a

:46:52. > :46:55.couple of them at the top of the programme. Chimelong of China is

:46:56. > :47:08.also through to the last four, beating Sun Man hope of Korea 2-1.

:47:09. > :47:15.He seems pretty happy. Chimelong goes through the semifinals of the

:47:16. > :47:20.men's singles at review 2016. -- Rio. Chimelong will take on the

:47:21. > :47:25.winner of Rajiv Ouseph and Victor axles of Denmark. I told you you

:47:26. > :47:29.have to do it the hard way, if we go live to Riocentro we can see Rajiv

:47:30. > :47:36.Ouseph lost the first game of his quarterfinal and was however

:47:37. > :47:43.hammered 21-12 in that first game. It is a bit tighter in the second

:47:44. > :47:47.game right now. Bousses hoping to come back -- Rajiv Ouseph hoping to

:47:48. > :47:50.come back. This matches live on BBC One right now if you want to see how

:47:51. > :47:59.Great Britain but about badminton hope gets on. -- Great Britain's

:48:00. > :48:05.badminton hope. At the top of the programme we spoke about women's

:48:06. > :48:08.golf, the first ground after 100 years got underway this morning.

:48:09. > :48:15.This afternoon back in the UK. It is a Korean that is tearing up the

:48:16. > :48:19.leaderboard. In the park of South Korea are multiple major winner is

:48:20. > :48:23.share of the lead on the Olympic golf course. That was one of her

:48:24. > :48:28.birdies, sharing the lead with Carlota Ciganda of Spain. She is

:48:29. > :48:33.doing well at the top of the leaderboard. At the very top of the

:48:34. > :48:39.programme we showed you Catriona Matthew got around underway early

:48:40. > :48:45.this morning. She ended the day on level par, so is still in it. She

:48:46. > :48:49.will not be happy about that part but afterwards she got up David

:48:50. > :48:54.McDaid. That level par round, give us your thoughts? A bit

:48:55. > :48:58.disappointed. A lot of chances in the back nine, a silly three putt

:48:59. > :49:02.from a bogey and I wanted to try and get in a couple more birdies. Did

:49:03. > :49:10.not have the greatest start, double on the one good to come back and I'm

:49:11. > :49:16.not out of it. At the moment for under is top in the leaderboard,

:49:17. > :49:19.given the way it is that is not insurmountable? Bill, the one they

:49:20. > :49:22.are pleased with is I'm not out of it, you don't want to bore yourself

:49:23. > :49:26.out of it after the first ground. Good range tomorrow and you're back

:49:27. > :49:30.in. You coming here with good form, I take it you're confident you can

:49:31. > :49:34.improve on that score today? Definitely. I just need to drive it

:49:35. > :49:39.better and get a few more putts and I will get it under par. I hear a

:49:40. > :49:47.report about alligators comedians see any? Not today, no. Thank you.

:49:48. > :49:51.Let's show you some live golf here on BBC Four. We told you park and

:49:52. > :49:57.Ciganda leading the way in the women's competition. Great Britain's

:49:58. > :50:03.Charley Hull is still out on the course. Let's join a live action in

:50:04. > :50:08.the company of Brandon Telfer and Alan Wilkins.

:50:09. > :50:15.Keep having to duck and weave out of the way of the ball. And the front

:50:16. > :50:22.of the terraced seating that has been erected around 18th green. This

:50:23. > :50:30.is Australia's player with her shirt -- surge shot to ten. This has a

:50:31. > :50:42.real chance. Just checking up, tap in birdie on ten.

:50:43. > :50:52.She has not put a foot wrong today, a 5-iron used by Park. This chasing

:50:53. > :51:01.Joao Oliva. She will have that for 6-under.

:51:02. > :51:19.The shortfall Lexi Thompson on 13. 400 yard par-4.

:51:20. > :51:53.Just finishing a couple of feet from the bunker, but it is fine there.

:51:54. > :52:08.She wanted more out of that. But she is safely on. Has been the

:52:09. > :52:17.personification of steadiness today. Just the one bogey at the 11th.

:52:18. > :52:25.Here on the 14th, 169 metres, 185 yards. She is 1-under. Germany plus

:52:26. > :52:32.the Caroline Masson just finished with a 69. Pat Lam from Thailand,

:52:33. > :52:49.71. That will chase on. Just coming up a

:52:50. > :53:21.little short. Has a good pace. Just in the jaws,

:53:22. > :53:35.unfortunately, but she stays at 3-under. Hello. I didn't think she

:53:36. > :53:45.had the ball the first time, she just meant to tap it in. Let's look

:53:46. > :53:50.at this again. Definitely moved. That is an extra shot she has taken,

:53:51. > :54:00.obviously, just to casual walking up and tapping it in. Just nudged the

:54:01. > :54:08.ball. An easy mistake to make if you are not concentrating. You don't

:54:09. > :54:13.expect to see it at this level. That was a 3-putt green for the Moura,

:54:14. > :54:32.sadly. She has had eight straight pars on

:54:33. > :54:38.the back nine. Began with three birdies and picked up another on

:54:39. > :54:49.nine and then it's straight pars. Another model of consistency. The

:54:50. > :55:05.vehicle now -- Olivia Cole -- Lydia Coe.

:55:06. > :55:13.She needed that. After those early bogeys she gets her first birdie of

:55:14. > :55:37.the round and is back to plus one. The seventh, Stacy Lewis from the

:55:38. > :55:46.USA. Second shot for the American Comanche is 1-over par. 411 yards on

:55:47. > :55:55.this par-4, the wind is getting quite gusty. Sit, she says. She has

:55:56. > :56:00.caught all of that. Back of the green. There is no trouble there,

:56:01. > :56:06.did not take off like some balls do when they hit these hard greens.

:56:07. > :56:11.Anna Nordqvist for birdie on six. She is having a decent time just

:56:12. > :56:35.now. Gerina Piller from the US on the

:56:36. > :56:53.14th. Having just bogeyed 13, started

:56:54. > :57:03.homeward nine with consecutive birdies on ten and 11. This for

:57:04. > :57:12.birdie to get back to under. She has had a good rap at that as well. I

:57:13. > :57:23.think Nordqvist was a par on the sixth, Nordqvist is to under. This

:57:24. > :57:29.is the 16th, Gabrielle Albon of Switzerland.

:57:30. > :57:40.Speak to the ball and it will behave.

:57:41. > :57:55.Long birdie from Munoz, which will get her to a share of the lead at

:57:56. > :58:16.5-under. Currently held by Lindy Park.

:58:17. > :58:54.Lexi Thompson in the sand on 30. That is her second, she did well

:58:55. > :59:07.there. Just about pin high. She is on the dance floor. She wasn't

:59:08. > :59:12.bothered greatly by that lip and using her strength and distance to

:59:13. > :59:16.get it the green on the 400 yard par-4.

:59:17. > :59:48.Suzann Pettersen on 13. She is back to level par. Cannot get a good

:59:49. > :59:49.round going, that is her second shot on giving herself a good chance for

:59:50. > :00:30.birdie to get back to 1-under. Just call that. She was almost

:00:31. > :00:35.pulling down on the back swing. Was it some kind of distraction? She

:00:36. > :00:42.pulled out on the backswing. That takes some doing! Not sure Tiger

:00:43. > :00:59.Woods could do it! Charley Hull, she is just rippling with energy. And

:01:00. > :01:04.she gives it a good rip. Now, Candie Kung, can she break this run of

:01:05. > :01:13.eight straight pars on the back nine by finishing with a birdie? Gotze

:01:14. > :01:24.hurry. She's got some work to do now for her par. The 17th, the par-3.

:01:25. > :01:37.Birdie putt, that should be enough for her par. So, right now the low

:01:38. > :01:47.round is Nicole Broch Larsen. And this is Candie Kung, also for a 67.

:01:48. > :01:51.Well done, Candie Kung. Nine pars on the back nine and all her action

:01:52. > :01:55.came on the back nine but at the end of the day she is right there in

:01:56. > :02:00.contention, near the top of the leaderboard with a 67. I don't think

:02:01. > :02:06.there will be too many scores lower than that today. There might be one

:02:07. > :02:11.or two. Inbee Park and Carlota Ciganda with a chance of getting

:02:12. > :02:36.under that score. She is the joint clubhouse leader. Four birdies. The

:02:37. > :02:49.second shot to nine. -- X here as a team leader with the two Korean

:02:50. > :02:55.players. Azahara Munoz on 15. She is back to 3-under par. She bogeyed the

:02:56. > :03:00.11th but she has made three straight past since then. The back nine is

:03:01. > :03:08.proving a little more difficult with the wind picking up. As we saw that

:03:09. > :03:18.same pattern with the men. There were quite safe you, 31 36s. We seen

:03:19. > :03:27.a feud today. In fact two of them. The 15th, going with the 3-wood,

:03:28. > :03:52.Pelle of the United States. Into that sandy wasteland she goes.

:03:53. > :04:12.It is just rough. Now, Lexi Thompson.

:04:13. > :04:25.No, no, no. Way short. We have got two 67s in the clubhouse. Candie

:04:26. > :04:37.Kung of Chinese Taipei and Nicole Broch Larsen of Denmark. Both of

:04:38. > :04:41.them were 31-36s. Carlota Ciganda with a chance to just edged ahead,

:04:42. > :04:49.slipped ahead of Inbee Park. Get to 6-under.

:04:50. > :05:06.Three birdies and an eagle today, the rest pars.

:05:07. > :05:14.As she got it? Yes! What a putt. A fighting putt. What a way to get to

:05:15. > :05:28.6-under. Suzann Pettersen, for birdie on 13.

:05:29. > :05:36.Is it going to move? It will, a touch. Too late. Just a little too

:05:37. > :05:44.late. So we have an outright leader in Carlota Ciganda at 6-under par.

:05:45. > :05:50.Can someone get to 7-under or 8-under like we saw on the opening

:05:51. > :05:55.day of the men's? To get back to 2-over par. Battling on this back

:05:56. > :06:04.nine. I think you saw a lot are birdies on 17 and 18 last week? 16,

:06:05. > :06:15.17 and 18? Yes. Birdie putt for Yang. Yes. But that wind picking up

:06:16. > :06:23.makes the 18th very difficult. Let's go to seven, Charley Hull. 184 yards

:06:24. > :06:30.to the hole. Charley Hull, her second. She has done well. Was

:06:31. > :06:38.hoping that that win, with the right to left on the flag, you can see it

:06:39. > :06:48.there, would have helped. A bit of danger with that bunker but she is

:06:49. > :06:49.fine. Anna Nordqvist. Going along quietly but efficiently today at two

:06:50. > :07:19.under. Now, Lexi Thompson, who overcooked

:07:20. > :07:36.that previous putt, now has this one coming back for par.

:07:37. > :07:45.Yes, nice putt. 32nd in the US Open was her best result in a major so

:07:46. > :07:52.far. There is still one to go of course, the heavy -- the Evian.

:07:53. > :08:25.Gerina Piller. Now to the 15th. Inbee Park in a

:08:26. > :08:38.very good position here to have a crack at that flag. 214 yards. A

:08:39. > :08:43.nice, controlled wedge shot. Just a little more of a pause at the top of

:08:44. > :08:48.her backswing than there was in the early part of the round.

:08:49. > :09:06.Is it going to come back? Trying to. It's just a different calculation

:09:07. > :09:11.now, with the swing -- with the wind getting up.

:09:12. > :09:34.She is 3-under par stop she was four under at one stage, but that then --

:09:35. > :09:38.but then that bogey came at 11. The pin is just over that right-hand

:09:39. > :09:49.side of the bunker on the left of the green, you can see. Oh! That has

:09:50. > :09:55.come up well short. A little mistake there from Munoz.

:09:56. > :10:01.The Spaniard not happy with that shipped to the green. Her

:10:02. > :10:05.compatriot, Carlota Ciganda, still leading the way down at the Olympic

:10:06. > :10:11.course. If you want to stay with the golf, head over to the Red Button.

:10:12. > :10:21.Of course it is always on the app and the BBC Sport website. To help

:10:22. > :10:25.you make even more of your Rio 2016 Olympic Games, from boxing to

:10:26. > :10:30.badminton, hockey to handball, we've got it all covered right here at the

:10:31. > :10:35.BBC. Alongside coverage on BBC One, BBC Four and radio five live, you

:10:36. > :10:41.can access up to 24 live sports on the BBC Sport website. The very best

:10:42. > :10:47.of these will be available on the Red Button, by satellite, cable or

:10:48. > :10:52.free view, depending on your set-top box or TV receiver. If that's not

:10:53. > :10:56.enough, you can download the BBC Sport app, where you can set up life

:10:57. > :11:01.event reminders so you can follow all your favourite sports. And you

:11:02. > :11:05.know what? I've had so much reaction on social media from people watching

:11:06. > :11:09.this coverage to all of the different ways but also because of

:11:10. > :11:14.how Great Britain's gymnasts have performed here in Rio, if you don't

:11:15. > :11:19.mind showing us that building over there, the red and white gymnastics

:11:20. > :11:24.arena, very happy to say I've been joined by a couple of them and the

:11:25. > :11:28.future of British gymnastics is standing here, bronze medallists Amy

:11:29. > :11:33.Tinkler and Nile Wilson. Show them the bronze, guys! Hold it high and

:11:34. > :11:40.hold it proud. Incredible. Amy, we will come to you first. You hold

:11:41. > :11:44.onto that one! With your big guns, you need to answer that one! Amy, it

:11:45. > :11:47.has been said many a time, the youngest member of the Team GB

:11:48. > :11:52.squared and you come away with a bronze medal, yesterday must just

:11:53. > :11:55.have been the best day of your life? Yeah, it was incredible. I didn't

:11:56. > :12:01.even expect to make the final coming into this so to make the final and

:12:02. > :12:05.get a medal is incredible. Looking at your routine, I'm not sure if

:12:06. > :12:09.you've seen it back here, but you are experienced on a national stage,

:12:10. > :12:13.you've been with the elite guys and senior guys for some time now, but

:12:14. > :12:19.to go out there and perform at your first Olympics with such pizzazz and

:12:20. > :12:23.such confidence... Yeah, I mean, my coaches just told me I had nothing

:12:24. > :12:27.to lose and go out and enjoy it and I've worked for it hard and enjoy my

:12:28. > :12:33.sport. That's what I did. I couldn't have done any better. You had a bit

:12:34. > :12:36.of a wait before you had got the Gold Medal. You were in position but

:12:37. > :12:42.how hard is it when you're watching the other girls go up and do their

:12:43. > :12:46.routines. Were you thinking, my goodness me, I could come away with

:12:47. > :12:54.a medal? There were tears, Amy, there were tears! Literally those

:12:55. > :13:03.ten minutes felt like ten hours. It was so emotional, it was the relief,

:13:04. > :13:09.I was happy, it was so crazy. Nile, you did the very same thing. Was it

:13:10. > :13:14.as crazy for you? Yeah! It has been an incredible week for British

:13:15. > :13:19.gymnastics. Seven medals in total, surpassing any expectations. I find

:13:20. > :13:22.it quite challenging, competing in the all-around on Wednesday with

:13:23. > :13:30.Macs and then having to wait nearly a full week to do my routine. The

:13:31. > :13:35.success with Max and then Amy, getting a bronze, I felt like I

:13:36. > :13:40.needed to go out there and do something on the high bar. I saw you

:13:41. > :13:43.at the Olympic village at the start of the competition and you and Max

:13:44. > :13:46.were in such good spirits, your first Olympic Games and despite the

:13:47. > :13:52.weight you've had you been loving this Olympics, haven't you? It's

:13:53. > :13:57.been the greatest time of my life. I've had a beaming smile on my face

:13:58. > :14:01.all day. Waking up and just reminding myself you're at the

:14:02. > :14:05.Games, the biggest sporting event of all time. Soaking it up and that is

:14:06. > :14:11.the main thing for me, that I enjoy myself. I haven't seen anyone with a

:14:12. > :14:17.harder fist pump and cheer into the crowd than you, Nile. You did it in

:14:18. > :14:22.qualification and as you landed your high bar routine. Let's have a look

:14:23. > :14:27.at it! Let's see the routine. Let's see you doing your thing on the high

:14:28. > :14:32.bar, Nile. Just like Amy, you had to wait as well, excruciatingly

:14:33. > :14:35.painful! Yeah, the waiting was worse than the routine, I thought! I was

:14:36. > :14:45.so focused on the routine and nothing else was on my mind. Just

:14:46. > :14:53.the gymnastics. As soon as I landed, that's when I thought you know what,

:14:54. > :14:59.I might get a medal here! I'm an emotional guy, as I was showing, I

:15:00. > :15:03.find it difficult to bottle up, so that was an real, it totally took me

:15:04. > :15:13.by surprise. Your dad is an emotional man and he has been saying

:15:14. > :15:18.if you came away with a medal, your dad would quite likely, like you did

:15:19. > :15:22.at the World, take his top off! Do you know if there was that danger

:15:23. > :15:27.and if it actually happened? There is always a danger when my dad is

:15:28. > :15:31.around, even if I don't get a medal! I think he just got caught up in the

:15:32. > :15:32.whole moment yesterday and forgot about waving his teacher around his

:15:33. > :15:46.head. My family's journey as well, it is

:15:47. > :15:51.their medal as much as mine, it is very special. Amy, your family has

:15:52. > :15:57.been here with you. How quickly did they remind you got your GTA -esque

:15:58. > :16:03.-- GCSE results to come? I've been reminded of what the past few days.

:16:04. > :16:07.The day after I get back I have my results, so I'll have to what

:16:08. > :16:11.happens. There is still some tension before you get those come hopefully

:16:12. > :16:14.some more celebrating but between now and then, what happens for

:16:15. > :16:19.British gymnastics Krezolek entry had a celebration last night? Just a

:16:20. > :16:23.little, we're here until the closing ceremony on Monday. We're going to

:16:24. > :16:29.relax, the weather is incredible. Plenty of junk food, there is a free

:16:30. > :16:33.McDonald's in the village and relax because we've sacrificed and put so

:16:34. > :16:37.much work in to this dream. We have a medal and we deserve to celebrate.

:16:38. > :16:42.And look what happens, you have a bronze medal at a first ever games.

:16:43. > :16:46.This is what can happen. We've got a bit of a crowd, look at it. Can we

:16:47. > :16:47.have around the applause for a British bronze medallists?

:16:48. > :16:56.APPLAUSE A very generous ripple. Top five,

:16:57. > :17:01.well played. We will leave bronze medallist because Great Britain in

:17:02. > :17:04.the hockey are a bronze from London 2012 and will play against New

:17:05. > :17:08.Zealand late at night in the semifinal at 9pm on BBC One but you

:17:09. > :17:13.saw earlier we were in the other say final between the Netherlands and

:17:14. > :17:17.Germany. Half-time, 1-1, perfectly poised. It's on out happens in the

:17:18. > :17:35.second half in the company of Belkalem will -- Max Chilton.

:17:36. > :17:44.Condit Amat back on the field of play having taken a blow to the

:17:45. > :17:49.head. We think she's had some stitches put in, certainly had some

:17:50. > :17:55.treatment. Second half of this first semifinal in the Olympic hockey

:17:56. > :18:04.tournament is about to get underway. 1-1. 30 minutes of hockey left. The

:18:05. > :18:05.Germans in White and black. Now attacking the goal away to our

:18:06. > :18:16.right. Here go. If it is 1-1 or level at

:18:17. > :18:21.the end of full time there will be a penalty shoot out. We've not had one

:18:22. > :18:28.yet but it could be one to come. Very tight in the first 30 minutes.

:18:29. > :18:39.Xan de Waard leaves the ball for Paumen, who scored the goal from a

:18:40. > :18:47.brilliant penalty corner drag flick. The German goal scored by Lisa

:18:48. > :18:52.Schultz. I think the Germans dominated the first quarter and the

:18:53. > :18:55.Dutch second. It is the perfect semifinal, really, where both teams

:18:56. > :18:56.are cancelling each other out but the Dutch seem to be going through

:18:57. > :19:19.the gears as the game wears on. The German coach, barking his

:19:20. > :19:33.instructions to these players. Aerial ball. Kept in. Van Geffen not

:19:34. > :19:38.given five metres by Maeve is to take the aerial ball. The Dutch

:19:39. > :19:42.passing just sloppy in the first couple of minutes of this second

:19:43. > :19:50.half. The Germans might take advantage. Heading downfield.

:19:51. > :19:54.Stapenhorst unable to direct her pass accurately and the Dutch will

:19:55. > :20:11.escape the halfway. Help up, pass back.

:20:12. > :20:22.Van der Breggens -- van der Voort to winning procession. It has flown

:20:23. > :20:33.into the face of the Dutch player. They are appealing for a referral I

:20:34. > :20:38.think. -- van der Heuvel. I will check for you. Van der Heuvel sang

:20:39. > :20:44.the ball came off the German stick into her body. Which is correct. I

:20:45. > :20:52.don't think the video on should take long over this one. It was a little

:20:53. > :20:57.miffed by van der Heuvel onto the stick of Muller, which might have

:20:58. > :21:05.caused a problem. A restart with a penalty corner. It has all worked

:21:06. > :21:08.out perfectly for the Dutch. It was dangerous, it was up of a German

:21:09. > :21:14.stick and into the Dutch player come and get a penalty corner, it will be

:21:15. > :21:20.their fourth of the match and they keep their referral. Watch out for

:21:21. > :21:24.Marcia Paumen, her score from this position already. Van Maasakker here

:21:25. > :21:47.as well. Ready to inject the penalty corner

:21:48. > :21:54.for the Netherlands. It has come to Polman, not far away. Didn't seem to

:21:55. > :21:59.get the timing quite right. I think it was a poor track if I'm honest.

:22:00. > :22:03.The injection was poor from van As, forced the stick stopper to take a

:22:04. > :22:08.step left and you can see Marcia Paumen shaking her head. She cannot

:22:09. > :22:13.do her job as the best Flickr in the world of the injection is poor and

:22:14. > :22:20.so is the trap. Poland rampaging forward again. Van der Voort or held

:22:21. > :22:24.up -- van der Heuvel held up. Leading the charge with van As on

:22:25. > :22:31.the left. Towards the circle, sent back outside, van As will restart.

:22:32. > :22:35.Just a little flick forward, cleared by Germany.

:22:36. > :22:48.Cons of van der Voort's foot as we came out, frigates to the Germans

:22:49. > :22:50.rather than the sideline. -- Xan de Waard. Cautious start to the second

:22:51. > :23:02.half from both sides. A bit of space in front and the

:23:03. > :23:06.right. She is the fastest player on the field and using the speedwell.

:23:07. > :23:10.As shooting opportunity possibly merging for the Netherlands will

:23:11. > :23:19.stop loved away by Kristina Reynolds. Now just a build-up of

:23:20. > :23:36.Dutch pressure. Van As again tries to go around the revealing -- Welten

:23:37. > :23:37.-- Muller-Wieland and. I van Maasakker but opened a tunnel on the

:23:38. > :23:52.right. Van Geffen trying to fire this in on

:23:53. > :23:57.the backhand wing. These are the chances, Leurink spinning on the

:23:58. > :24:00.baseline and it got files to van der Heuvel to get the snapshot away. But

:24:01. > :24:17.Reynolds makes the save and hit it back into the circle.

:24:18. > :24:31.Paumen, scorer of the Dutch goal. Amazing to have speed. Has to stop

:24:32. > :24:40.just outside 23. Paumen sends it all the way back.

:24:41. > :24:49.Ellen Hoog running into trouble. Continuing the attack up to the edge

:24:50. > :24:52.of the circle. The desperate German defence. They have got the ball

:24:53. > :25:02.clear and regained possession. The Germans need to stretch the

:25:03. > :25:07.field. Their striker line is probably four or five metres over

:25:08. > :25:08.the halfway line. It can cause it on press because the Dutch defenders

:25:09. > :25:17.can close the gap as well. Just a bit scrappy from Germany at

:25:18. > :25:29.times. Paumen lifted up, attracted back,

:25:30. > :25:39.was there a stick from the German defender? No. -- tracks it back. The

:25:40. > :25:44.Dutch in good voice again. They've been subdued for a while and now as

:25:45. > :25:47.the second half on falls they are starting to get behind their players

:25:48. > :25:50.and the Dutch have had the majority of the attacking opportunities so

:25:51. > :26:10.far in this third quarter. Good interplay between the German

:26:11. > :26:16.midfielders. Picked up by Old Trafford -- Oldhafer on the right

:26:17. > :26:21.flank. Good skills, she gets the might get all the way to the

:26:22. > :26:24.baseline, can she put it across? Penalty Court for the Germans.

:26:25. > :26:36.Oldhafer just inside the circle upended. Keetels stick doing the

:26:37. > :26:40.damage. I think they set up are you certain? She was looking for a list

:26:41. > :26:43.of ball on the knee, yes, it had heard me but her knees four inches

:26:44. > :26:51.off the ground. It will never be given and it is the right decision

:26:52. > :26:52.to put pressure on her player. Only the second penalty corner of the

:26:53. > :27:07.game for Germany. Nicky Laurance is just behind the

:27:08. > :27:12.circle. Anna Kruger there as well. Louwrens pleases to her right. That

:27:13. > :27:21.set piece did not go according to plan for Germany at all. The dot are

:27:22. > :27:24.breaking down the right. Just in front, Haggas around the arena from

:27:25. > :27:30.the Dutch supporters. Ellen Hoog unable to make contact, it would

:27:31. > :27:41.have been one-on-one if she had. Regina Reynolds is waiting in the

:27:42. > :27:46.German goal to do battle with Caulker the Hoog. I think it is the

:27:47. > :27:50.pressure, I think she decided to get the glory ball, she went for the 50

:27:51. > :27:51.yard pass to Ellen Hoog and missed the target and there is an

:27:52. > :28:08.opportunity wasted for the Dutch. Teschke at speed down the left.

:28:09. > :28:19.Tries to get the lift over the Dutch stick. The Netherlands will get the

:28:20. > :28:27.free hit. Where to go? Down the right flank, pushed out by van As.

:28:28. > :28:37.And by one of the German players, van As gained another yard. 6.5

:28:38. > :28:46.minutes left in the third quarter. The Netherlands one, Germany one.

:28:47. > :28:52.An important interception from Muller-Wieland, broken kindly for an

:28:53. > :28:58.orange shirt coming towards the circle. It will be a Dutch ball.

:28:59. > :29:03.Some insane takes by the middle of the field full stop. Rich, jumped in

:29:04. > :29:06.the air, took the ball and put it into a space so she could run onto

:29:07. > :29:35.it. To the flicks it up looking for van As. That attack comes to an end.

:29:36. > :29:43.Midfield, Dutch pressure all the way in this third quarter so far. Apart

:29:44. > :29:48.from the penalty corners of the Germans made a mess they've barely

:29:49. > :29:53.had any time inside the Dutch half. And it's hard work to fending for 60

:29:54. > :30:06.minutes, arguably 45 because they definitely took the first quarter.

:30:07. > :30:25.She raises her arm and claims the free hit, it's awarded. Maartje

:30:26. > :30:29.Paumen drills it into the circle. Ellen Hoog was out wide, simple ball

:30:30. > :30:33.to the side. Sometimes in the heat of the battle and with the weather

:30:34. > :30:38.as well, it can sometimes make players make what we perceive to be

:30:39. > :30:41.the wrong decisions. As we've often said, it's so easy from a commentary

:30:42. > :30:45.box to see the passive and down there you see different angles and

:30:46. > :30:50.the pressure builds up a. The Germans have to get hold of this all

:30:51. > :30:55.otherwise it's going to be a long 19 minutes left of this game. There was

:30:56. > :31:00.a breeze for a while which was taking the edge of the mid-30s

:31:01. > :31:05.temperatures, but the flags are limp at the moment, no wind to cool the

:31:06. > :31:10.players down. Appeals for a penalty corner, looking suspicious but none

:31:11. > :31:26.given. Brilliant play by Charlotte Stapp and host. -- Charlotte

:31:27. > :31:35.Stapenhorst. Here is the cross, bobbling around dangerously. Flicked

:31:36. > :31:41.back. Ellen Hoog trying to get herself into space. Ellen Hoog back

:31:42. > :31:58.in possession here and still it is Dutch ball. Sent all the way back to

:31:59. > :32:06.Bos, broken kindly for Holland once again. Into the circle. Dangerous

:32:07. > :32:17.Paul off the German stick on the circle edge. Van den Heuvel four.

:32:18. > :32:25.Germany come away with the ball. Less than three minutes left in the

:32:26. > :32:30.quarter, still 1-1 in this Olympic semi. The chance to play either

:32:31. > :32:40.Great Britain or New Zealand in the Gold Medal match. Oldhafer. Oldhafer

:32:41. > :32:44.has done well. Settling things down for Germany. Muller spreads it

:32:45. > :32:53.across to the centre. Now they try and break down the left-hand side,

:32:54. > :32:59.with Franzisca Hauke. Good stick work by her and the passwords need

:33:00. > :33:07.as well. Mother drives it in. The Dutch stick on the end. The whistle

:33:08. > :33:17.is blown. Germany certainly need to get more from Francisco Howe go,

:33:18. > :33:22.Jana Teschke and Hannah Kruger. Three of the more experienced

:33:23. > :33:29.players in this side. If they're going to come out with the result

:33:30. > :33:37.they want. Franzisca Hauke restarts. Back it comes. The Germans seem a

:33:38. > :33:42.little on willing to press forward and now they do. That is over the

:33:43. > :33:48.top with 90 seconds until the three quarters time hooter. Perhaps Julia

:33:49. > :33:54.Muller knew there wasn't a massive amount of time left on the clock, so

:33:55. > :33:58.she just belted one into the circle hoping for a touch. Now, this has

:33:59. > :34:07.fallen nicely. Stapenhorst on her way. Still she goes, Stapenhorst! It

:34:08. > :34:16.is behind. A good effort and one of the Dutch players has taken a bang

:34:17. > :34:23.in the process. It is Bos, who is down. Brilliant skills by

:34:24. > :34:28.Stapenhorst, using her skills. Bos gets hit on the side of the head

:34:29. > :34:30.from the follow-through from Stapenhorst's stick. But she's up,

:34:31. > :34:49.she's fine. A burst of herb pace. The Dutch need

:34:50. > :34:56.that. The aerial ball aimed up. 40 seconds left in the third quarter.

:34:57. > :35:01.They can quickly by Maria Verschoor, trying to force it through to an

:35:02. > :35:08.attacker in the centre circle. Still time to do some damage. The Germans

:35:09. > :35:13.seem content to just slow things down now and take us to the hooter

:35:14. > :35:23.to signal the end of the third quarter. The last 15 seconds.

:35:24. > :35:35.Will take us to three quarters time in this Olympic semifinal. It

:35:36. > :35:38.remains as it was at half-time, the Netherlands 1-1 Germany. 15 minutes

:35:39. > :35:40.left to play. STUDIO

:35:41. > :35:44.We will be back for the final quarter of this semifinal, the

:35:45. > :35:50.Netherlands against Germany, very soon. But first I'm afraid some sad

:35:51. > :35:54.news for British badminton fans because we were talking about Reggie

:35:55. > :35:59.Doucet, into the quarterfinals of the men's singles for the first

:36:00. > :36:03.time. He lost the third game and things went from bad to worse,

:36:04. > :36:14.losing the second by 21 points to 16. Unfortunately for him, his

:36:15. > :36:16.Danish opponent was just too strong on the day. Let's hear what Rajiv

:36:17. > :36:25.Ouseph had to say. It didn't quite go to plan today.

:36:26. > :36:29.How difficult was it to get into your own rhythm? Yes, very

:36:30. > :36:33.difficult. I thought he played really well and he got a lot of

:36:34. > :36:38.attacking shots back. I was getting frustrated with my own play. But he

:36:39. > :36:43.played well and I think he managed the occasion very well. I can see

:36:44. > :36:46.you're disappointed but how pleased are you with this run, the first

:36:47. > :36:53.British man to get to amen's singles at the Olympics? Yes, it was a dream

:36:54. > :36:56.for me. I knew if I played very well I could win but it wasn't quite

:36:57. > :37:00.meant to be. I have really enjoys the whole experience and it's

:37:01. > :37:05.something that will stay with me for a long time. How do you hope that

:37:06. > :37:10.your brilliant run here will affect the sport back home in terms of

:37:11. > :37:13.popularity? I would love it if more people picked up the rackets and

:37:14. > :37:17.played badminton. That was the main goal for me and Chris as well this

:37:18. > :37:21.week and Marcus with their great run. It's not always just about

:37:22. > :37:25.singles in Britain, it's about doubles. If I can promote people to

:37:26. > :37:30.play badminton generally, I will be a very happy man. Have you enjoyed

:37:31. > :37:37.the Olympic spirit, what will you take away from it? The crowd have

:37:38. > :37:41.been on the label. Even if it's against me, I don't really mind.

:37:42. > :37:46.Have you got another four-year Olympic cycling you? To be honest,

:37:47. > :37:50.I'm not sure. I will probably have a few weeks off and then make a

:37:51. > :37:59.decision. If it's anything like this, I will carry on. Unlucky today

:38:00. > :38:02.and well played. Thank you. So many positives to take out of this for

:38:03. > :38:09.Rajiv Ouseph. If you've been inspired by badminton, it's such a

:38:10. > :38:14.popular sport, go to the website and get involved and the details are on

:38:15. > :38:18.the screen. Back to the semifinal between Germany and the Netherlands.

:38:19. > :38:26.If they can't split them after this 15 minutes, it's a shoot out.

:38:27. > :38:33.Because of the temperatures these afternoon, they've been given extra

:38:34. > :38:36.time to rehydrate. We are potentially 15 minutes away from a

:38:37. > :38:40.penalty shoot out to decide who's going forward to the Gold Medal

:38:41. > :38:45.match to face either Great Britain or New Zealand, who will be involved

:38:46. > :38:53.in their semifinal this evening in the cooler air of 5pm, which is 9pm

:38:54. > :38:58.UK time. 1-1 here. The Germans in white and black, attacking the goal

:38:59. > :39:12.away to our right. First goal from Germany scored by Lisa Schutze. The

:39:13. > :39:17.penalty routine brought the Germans level and now they will go at it for

:39:18. > :39:25.15 minutes to see who gets a guaranteed Olympic medal. Francisco

:39:26. > :39:29.Howe could standing over the ball. Waiting before she finds

:39:30. > :39:32.Muller-Wieland, on the left. Germany retreat back towards the halfway

:39:33. > :39:41.line. Muller-Wieland again. Francisco Howe cup. Into the centre.

:39:42. > :39:52.This is good for Germany, they are in space! That wasn't far-away, the

:39:53. > :39:57.attempted touch from Marie Mavers. Marie Mavers wasn't far-away. You

:39:58. > :40:01.just wonder whether the Germans have decided pre-match, because of the

:40:02. > :40:04.weather, they will have a go in the first quarter and then have a go in

:40:05. > :40:11.the fourth quarter because they can't play at that intensity for the

:40:12. > :40:16.entire match. Maria Verschoor comes down towards the circle, she is

:40:17. > :40:17.fast, she has beaten them all, she's down on her knees and have

:40:18. > :40:32.possession. Lisa Altenburg, up to the 23. Lisa

:40:33. > :40:36.Altenburg tidying up, covering a lot of ground. Much more urgency about

:40:37. > :40:40.the pace of this final quarter now. They're going to leave everything

:40:41. > :40:47.out on the field in the searing heat of this afternoon in Rio de Janeiro.

:40:48. > :40:51.Up to the edge of the circle. Shot pushed away. A good save from

:40:52. > :40:56.Kristina Reynolds but the whistle had blown. It had blown for

:40:57. > :41:02.obstruction. Janne Muller-Wieland on the edge here, trying to make the

:41:03. > :41:05.tackle, and just hear the body is used to block Janne Muller-Wieland.

:41:06. > :41:31.That gives the ball to the Germans. Muller-Wieland. Cecile P Burke, down

:41:32. > :41:36.the line. Looking for Stapenhorst. Stapenhorst has a bit of time now

:41:37. > :41:42.before she decides on her next move, which is back to Cecile paper and

:41:43. > :41:50.then back further to Maria Weiland -- to Muller-Wieland.

:41:51. > :41:58.Into the centre of the field now adds Germany try and pick their way

:41:59. > :42:03.through. They won't do it like that, the passing has to be better. Just a

:42:04. > :42:08.slight miscommunication but I do think that Cecile paper could have

:42:09. > :42:11.got slightly higher on what we called the gain line, so she is

:42:12. > :42:16.basically level with one of the Dutch defenders. Francisco Howe cup

:42:17. > :42:24.pushes it forward, a dangerous moment for the Dutch defence. Now

:42:25. > :42:36.this is promising and there is a Dutch player right on the penalty

:42:37. > :42:45.spot. Very much outnumbered there, Kitty van Male on the ball and six

:42:46. > :42:49.German defenders back there. The Dutch are good but to try to break

:42:50. > :42:51.down eight team that is predominantly built on indoor and

:42:52. > :42:59.really good defensive skills is not going to be easy. Nicely taken turn

:43:00. > :43:09.from Kelly Jonker and she heads towards the centre. It has hit the

:43:10. > :43:12.knee of Lisa Schutze and Naomi van As has stepped forward to do

:43:13. > :43:27.something with this free hit. Naomi van As, back to Maartje Paumen. A

:43:28. > :43:35.pass to Bos is dealt with eventually. Ellen Hoog on the right

:43:36. > :43:41.runs out of space. The German coach getting more and more animated. He's

:43:42. > :43:45.brilliant. If you ever want to know how a game is going, just keep the

:43:46. > :43:49.camera on him. One thing I love about him is he's so honest. When

:43:50. > :43:55.you chat to him, in half-time interviews, if they're not playing

:43:56. > :44:06.very well, he will say so. There is no secret that all from him. Little

:44:07. > :44:11.flick forward, beautifully watched and read by Muller-Wieland. There is

:44:12. > :44:12.a Dutch player down. Whistles from the Dutch supporters and finally a

:44:13. > :44:32.whistle from the umpire. Favoured I'm not sure he feels that was

:44:33. > :44:43.exactly the way. Hannah Kruger has gone to ground to get the tackle and

:44:44. > :44:46.Eva de Goede has gone over the top of her and probably winded herself

:44:47. > :44:55.but there is nothing malicious in that at all. The match will restart

:44:56. > :45:02.with a bully. Nine minutes and 16 seconds left in this contest. If it

:45:03. > :45:11.stays level, we will have a penalty shoot out. To decide who goes to the

:45:12. > :45:18.Gold Medal match. Naomi van As, on the right. German whistles but it

:45:19. > :45:23.has been clearly dealt with fairly. Naomi van As has covered an awful

:45:24. > :45:24.dog round! The ball in aimed for Kelly Jonker but it didn't quite

:45:25. > :45:45.reach her. These abortions are responding in

:45:46. > :45:49.the stands alongside. They have a point as the Germans had possession

:45:50. > :45:55.when the umpire decided to stop the game. They gave the ball back to the

:45:56. > :45:59.Dutch. That was her decision and choice, there would have been a

:46:00. > :46:11.discussion between the players. Crack on with the game. It is a

:46:12. > :46:17.good-looking post the centre of the German midfield. Schroder goes

:46:18. > :46:28.backwards. Muller switches to the left. Inside the Teschke. Teschke

:46:29. > :46:32.all the way back to Schroder, who rolls at forward. It is what every

:46:33. > :46:46.step by the eagle eyed Dutch defence who burst down. Van As on the ball.

:46:47. > :46:55.Still scrapping, she finds van As again. I think there will be a card

:46:56. > :47:03.here, the umpire is reaching for her pocket. Green card shown to Muller,

:47:04. > :47:11.heading off for a two-minute suspension. She has gone back to the

:47:12. > :47:15.play here, there is a shove on the back in the middle of the pitch,

:47:16. > :47:21.umpire is waiting for the ball to be dead before they can issue a card.

:47:22. > :47:25.Can the Netherlands exploit this numerical advantage for the next few

:47:26. > :47:35.minutes? There in the right place to do so in the side the German circle.

:47:36. > :47:38.But they have lost possession. There is seven minutes left on this game

:47:39. > :47:43.and there is lots of hockey to be played but the Dutch do not have the

:47:44. > :47:49.best penalty shoot out record and we know about the Germans and their

:47:50. > :47:57.penalties. That has to play on their mind. Van Mahler to the circle

:47:58. > :48:05.before she was robbed of the ball. That is a good pass but Bos's trap

:48:06. > :48:07.was woeful. She let possession slip back to the Germans, who are

:48:08. > :48:16.pressing forward with purpose. Dutch ball again. Flicked forward.

:48:17. > :48:28.One against three. Another card coming out. It is a yellow this time

:48:29. > :48:31.for Oldhafer. Sophie Oldhafer will miss the next five minutes, meaning

:48:32. > :48:39.she misses most of the rest of the game. The Germans are down to nine

:48:40. > :48:44.against 11. We spoke about the German discipline possibly letting

:48:45. > :48:52.them down, unfortunately it is an accumulation of team fouls. Pushed

:48:53. > :49:01.behind by a German stick. Long corner will be taken.

:49:02. > :49:09.First Goerges finding a way through. It is of the German, penalty corner

:49:10. > :49:18.for the Dutch. Could this be the decisive set piece? Dishes corner

:49:19. > :49:24.number five and it is the ball onto her foot, just caught up right when

:49:25. > :49:28.trying to trap the ball rather than being low. Protecting the feed. But

:49:29. > :49:32.that is what the dot are good at, goal block the block the body put it

:49:33. > :49:38.on your foot and if you stay right they can do it as well. Bos and

:49:39. > :49:42.Paumen lined up behind the circle ready to play the drag flick. But

:49:43. > :49:46.they have to get the first two elements right. The injection in the

:49:47. > :49:54.trap have to work, they did not last time. Here's Paumen, holding it up.

:49:55. > :50:01.Doesn't shoot that. What a goal. Local, been disallowed. The Dutch

:50:02. > :50:06.are celebrating, but now they realise there is no goal. You would

:50:07. > :50:10.think the Dutch would understand unfortunately because it is a hit

:50:11. > :50:13.from Ellen Hoog it has to hit the back board as the first shot and it

:50:14. > :50:17.is too high, goes into the net but the reason she had to bring the ball

:50:18. > :50:22.back out of the circle is the trap by Ellen initially was stopped

:50:23. > :50:26.inside the circle and the ball must come outside before you can take a

:50:27. > :50:32.shot at goal. The Dutch are on their way forward, it is across the face.

:50:33. > :50:40.It is a really physical in there, backhand over the top this time. The

:50:41. > :50:43.Germans back up to ten with Julian Muller back on the field but you can

:50:44. > :50:46.feel the intensity and pressure building, the rink with the final

:50:47. > :51:00.shot from the top of the circle goes over, Kristina Reynolds in goal.

:51:01. > :51:06.. For the Dutch supporters. They were on their feet celebrating. They

:51:07. > :51:11.thought it was 2-1 with five minutes to play but it is 1-1 with less than

:51:12. > :51:15.five minutes to play. Penalty shoot out lose potentially in this first

:51:16. > :51:20.semifinal. The Germans going backwards. Finally finding a way

:51:21. > :51:34.out. Still one player down. And the Germans, assuming no further

:51:35. > :51:36.cards, will only have a full complement of players for the final

:51:37. > :51:53.minute or so of the match. Never discount the Germans is the

:51:54. > :51:59.lesson we've learned over the years. International sport. It has been

:52:00. > :52:03.emphasised in this Olympic competition as well, the last-minute

:52:04. > :52:06.goes everywhere -- last minute goal is everywhere. The women just as

:52:07. > :52:10.capable as the men of upsetting the debt -- Dutch in the final seconds

:52:11. > :52:17.of this match. Paumen back infield to Bos, driven upfield. There was a

:52:18. > :52:24.Dutch player in space but the German defender read it perfectly. All the

:52:25. > :52:29.way back and picked up at pace. Down the centre.

:52:30. > :52:39.Can they get it through the younger? -- the Jonker? I've never seen

:52:40. > :52:42.Alison on the side of a field? She is almost stepping onto the blue

:52:43. > :52:48.turf trying to drive the Dutch team forwards. Normally she stands behind

:52:49. > :52:54.fencing. Poke the eMac Kucka trying to run her way through. Again

:52:55. > :53:01.behind. Brilliant defending by Nike Lorenz, taken the ball to the

:53:02. > :53:05.headbutt got down low. Into the circle again and the pressure is

:53:06. > :53:11.relieved. It was the Dutch sticks sending it out of play. Less than

:53:12. > :53:15.three minutes in the match. The prospect of a penalty shoot out to

:53:16. > :53:21.decide who goes for the gold medal match.

:53:22. > :53:29.The Dutch once again have had the lion's share of possession in this

:53:30. > :53:35.final quarter. But it is all square, 1-1. Van As gets the stick in. Has

:53:36. > :53:36.the reverse out of the situation because it will be German

:53:37. > :53:56.possession. Altenburg getting stuck in left

:53:57. > :54:01.flank. Last two minutes of the game, a bouncing ball for Polman, she has

:54:02. > :54:06.dealt with it. Just ahead of van As, who takes it on the run. Travelling

:54:07. > :54:16.nicely. Sends the ball across. My word. Not far away. Jonker was

:54:17. > :54:21.waiting. Paumen again to van As. Full stretch, she keeps it in. The

:54:22. > :54:25.Dutch with a chance. The shot, just off the line. But Reynolds,

:54:26. > :54:34.desperate goalkeeping, they've kept it out. Kristina Reynolds is having

:54:35. > :54:38.a blinder when her team needed. Ellen Hoog bounces the ball into the

:54:39. > :54:43.turf and somehow Reynolds keeps the ball out. Not over yet, the Dutch

:54:44. > :54:44.are still determined to finish this off in normal time. Just over one

:54:45. > :55:24.minute. Left on the clock. The final 45 seconds of play. One

:55:25. > :55:30.more chance. For the Netherlands the press. Can they get a last-minute

:55:31. > :55:31.winner? Chris Grube did well, she will get the free hits, 30 seconds

:55:32. > :55:48.left. Another chance. The Germans take it to the corner

:55:49. > :55:53.and will have a chance to keep possession with the final hooter

:55:54. > :55:59.just ten seconds away. A penalty shoot out will decide who goes to

:56:00. > :56:05.the Olympic gold medal match to play either Great Britain or New Zealand.

:56:06. > :56:13.There it is. 1-1 at the end of the match. Next up, the penalty shoot

:56:14. > :56:18.out and all of the raw emotion that brings with it.

:56:19. > :56:24.The penalty shoot out for a guaranteed Olympic medal and a place

:56:25. > :56:31.in the gold-medal match. About to commence. Willemijn Bos, firstly for

:56:32. > :56:38.the Netherlands versus Kristina Reynolds.

:56:39. > :56:50.After goalkeeper and in. Good start. Exactly what the Dutch needed,

:56:51. > :56:53.Kristina Reynolds runs on a straight line, both as watching her the

:56:54. > :56:58.entire way and she gets the left glove onto it, but the power of the

:56:59. > :57:06.shot beat her and Janne Muller-Wieland up for the Germans.

:57:07. > :57:19.Against Joyce Sombroek. It is in off the goalkeeper. We had to wait as

:57:20. > :57:25.that one floated towards the goal. Found the target. Hold your breath

:57:26. > :57:31.moment for any German fan. She goes to ground, just flicks off the arm

:57:32. > :57:33.and you can see with that means the Ghana William and -- Janne

:57:34. > :57:48.Muller-Wieland. Saved. The rhetoric goalkeeping.

:57:49. > :57:57.Reynolds watcher every step of the way as she shuffled the left. She

:57:58. > :58:00.did not do enough on this one, one of the most skilful players in the

:58:01. > :58:04.world but did not do enough to move Kristina Reynolds and of course she

:58:05. > :58:07.got to the baseline, the more likely it was Reynolds would make the save.

:58:08. > :58:13.Marie Mavers up second for the Germans.

:58:14. > :58:26.Mavis to the edge. Where will she go? It is in. Mavis makes sure for

:58:27. > :58:29.Germany. 2-1. It is a style you will see fairly often where the forward

:58:30. > :58:33.comes in and turned their back on the goalkeeper and then you can

:58:34. > :58:40.wrong-foot them and go either way, socially with this skill level.

:58:41. > :58:46.Details for the Netherlands next. Realistically she has to put this

:58:47. > :58:54.one past Reynolds. -- Keetels. She has eight seconds to do so. It is

:58:55. > :59:00.saved. Keetels has missed, another great save from Reynolds. Germany,

:59:01. > :59:08.three from three. I beg your pardon, the Dutch just one from three. There

:59:09. > :59:13.does not seem to be any confidence in the Dutch penalty takers. Keetels

:59:14. > :59:14.does not do enough to beat Reynolds again and Altenburg steps up for the

:59:15. > :59:31.Germans. She has to make a save. Altenburg on

:59:32. > :59:38.her way. It is saved. It is over as it is out of the D. She just gave

:59:39. > :59:42.the duct lifeline with that save and, again, for me Altenburg does

:59:43. > :59:47.not do enough to move Sombroek, she is not the most confident in their

:59:48. > :59:49.butt Altenburg runs at Sombroek and Margot van Geffen up now for the

:59:50. > :00:03.Dutch. There is the whistle, up and away.

:00:04. > :00:12.Taking it long, has run into space, great penalty for van Geffen. That

:00:13. > :00:18.is fantastic, she strolled into the circle, looked like she was going to

:00:19. > :00:21.smash it will remain Bos, Christine Reynolds goes for the dummy but the

:00:22. > :00:23.role that your backhand as a right defender and put it in the back of

:00:24. > :00:32.the net. Germany so far with two out of

:00:33. > :00:53.three. She is taking her time and she is

:00:54. > :01:04.running out of time, Teschke. Well played by Joyce Sombroek. She did

:01:05. > :01:16.really well, taking big strides, Teschke could have not make tur.

:01:17. > :01:26.Kelly Jonker has the possibility for Holland -- nut mug. The fifth

:01:27. > :01:37.penalty for the Dutch. It is Jonker against Reynolds. Reynolds makes the

:01:38. > :01:47.save. So, here we are, 2-2. Kristina Reynolds stays big. Jonker didn't

:01:48. > :01:50.move Reynolds enough. It is Franzisca Hauke who has

:01:51. > :01:56.responsibility for Germany and if she scores, they will win. Hauke has

:01:57. > :02:09.the chance to guarantee Germany and Olympic medal. The Dutch need

:02:10. > :02:17.heroics from Sombroek. Sombroek makes the save. So, we are into

:02:18. > :02:22.sudden death. Started so well for the Germans, scoring two but

:02:23. > :02:31.Sombroek has shown what a quality keeper she actually is. Now you can

:02:32. > :02:35.choose who goes in what what order. It should be the Germans to take the

:02:36. > :02:39.penalty first. The roles are reversed and you can choose. Ideally

:02:40. > :02:52.someone who has scored should step up to try again.

:02:53. > :02:57.Muller-Wieland, the German captain, stepping up first. Unbelievable

:02:58. > :03:01.tension here. Muller-Wieland is waiting for Sombroek who took off

:03:02. > :03:05.the helmet and had a gob of water. It is roasting on the hockey field

:03:06. > :03:11.right now. As a goalkeeper, you are wearing more clothes than everybody.

:03:12. > :03:21.-- a gulp of water. Sudden death now. 2-2 after five. Now, the sudden

:03:22. > :03:30.death situation. The German captain against the Dutch goalkeeper.

:03:31. > :03:40.Oh, she's read it in, somehow! What a finish from Muller-Wieland.

:03:41. > :03:43.Extraordinary angle. That is absolutely insane, the Dutch were

:03:44. > :03:50.up, you could see them almost celebrating. Sombroek did well not

:03:51. > :04:00.to fall for the dummy. Making the save, off the helmet, but from that

:04:01. > :04:10.angle, Muller-Wieland, take a bow. Now, she must score for the

:04:11. > :04:18.Netherlands. Bos gets another chance and she makes no mistake. Hearts in

:04:19. > :04:24.mouths all around the stadium amongst the Dutch supporters. It is

:04:25. > :04:27.absolutely cruel if you are a German fan. Reynolds does well but she

:04:28. > :04:41.doesn't know where the ball has gone. Bos, composed. Mavers, another

:04:42. > :04:45.scorer, I imagine we will see the same thing from her in front of

:04:46. > :04:53.Sombroek. The whistle goes, eight seconds for Mavers, coming at speed.

:04:54. > :05:00.No, it's... Wide off the gold. She tried to go through Sombroek's legs.

:05:01. > :05:05.-- wide of the goal. Well, well, well. She didn't spend enough,

:05:06. > :05:10.Mavers, in front of Sombroek who I think got the inside of the pad. She

:05:11. > :05:17.didn't do enough, Sombroek did well and it came off the right pad. Now,

:05:18. > :05:25.if Ellen Hoog scores, the Dutch are in the final. She is away, can she

:05:26. > :05:29.get past Manaus? Going left and rot the lie -- left and right and she

:05:30. > :05:35.scores, the Netherlands are guaranteed a medal in the Olympic

:05:36. > :05:41.heat ornament. Lasse Viren hockey tournament. They have defeated

:05:42. > :05:44.Germany in the penalty shoot out. -- the hockey tournament. The Germans

:05:45. > :05:54.are in despair. What a way to finish. Ellen Hoog, the hero of the

:05:55. > :06:02.Netherlands died. Typically they play the full match and there is

:06:03. > :06:08.penalties and the Germans win but the Dutch had done it -- the

:06:09. > :06:17.Netherlands side. STUDIO: Germany losing on penalties, you've seen it.

:06:18. > :06:21.You could see how agonising it was the Germany. Jubilation for the

:06:22. > :06:24.Netherlands, going through to another Olympic final and they will

:06:25. > :06:30.play either New Zealand or Great Britain. Great Britain lost at this

:06:31. > :06:34.stage of London 2012, they would love to get into the final in a

:06:35. > :06:42.couple of days' time. They must get past New Zealand first. 9pm on BBC

:06:43. > :06:45.One tonight. It is also the semifinal stage of the men's

:06:46. > :06:57.football competition and after a long, long wait, Brazil's hope for

:06:58. > :07:04.the goal medal is with the men, despite getting no wins early on.

:07:05. > :07:07.The women's progress ended spectacularly yesterday after

:07:08. > :07:15.penalties at the Maracana are. It went down to penalties. Lindahl

:07:16. > :07:22.getting a couple of important penalty saves before Sweden were

:07:23. > :07:28.sent into the final against Germany. Brazilian hopes now rest with the

:07:29. > :07:33.men. This is the semifinal line-up. Later it is Nigeria against Germany

:07:34. > :07:41.but Brazil against Honduras is what we are going to see. They got

:07:42. > :07:50.underway about 45 minutes ago. Brazil taking the first half by

:07:51. > :07:56.storm. Only 14 seconds after getting the game underway, Brazil found the

:07:57. > :08:03.back of the net. Can you believe it? 14 seconds on the clock. The home

:08:04. > :08:07.nation go ahead, through Neymar. Dube elation, cheers and an Olympic

:08:08. > :08:17.record for the fastest goal call in Olympic football -- tube elation.

:08:18. > :08:23.They went two up through Gabrial Jesus, who signed the 27 million for

:08:24. > :08:28.Manchester City in the summer. Closing in on the Olympic final. We

:08:29. > :08:38.are going to join it in the second half with Alistair and Kevin.

:08:39. > :08:49.COMMENTATOR: Almost a fourth goal and the keeper would have stopped

:08:50. > :08:54.it. Not the first time that the keeper from Honduras has come to the

:08:55. > :09:01.rescue of his beleaguered team-mates. It was a good save, but

:09:02. > :09:13.could he have picked out Neymar, with a slide past to the right hand

:09:14. > :09:17.side. Wanted the glory him self but it was a good save. Selfishness can

:09:18. > :09:29.be forgiven when you are winning 3-0 provided you make it to the final.

:09:30. > :09:38.Exactly. Not a foul on Neymar, Quioto pulling back the arm of the

:09:39. > :09:43.mercurial genius. The opening five minutes, the same as the opening 45

:09:44. > :09:51.minutes. Brazil dominating. Telling passes, the runs from the front four

:09:52. > :09:55.and the Hondurans, looking flat-footed and if anything just as

:09:56. > :10:01.vulnerable as they did before the substitution made at half-time.

:10:02. > :10:14.Brazil corner, there is no marking and it is number four and this

:10:15. > :10:28.time it is Marquinhos on target and it is joy unbridled at the Maracana.

:10:29. > :10:37.It was poorly dealt with again from Honduras. Almost didn't see it,

:10:38. > :10:43.Marquinhos. He was trying to make it -- play it first time himself. It

:10:44. > :10:49.was stuck under his foot and he had the composure to play beyond Lopez.

:10:50. > :10:54.You feel a bit for Lopez in this game, he's been exposed time and

:10:55. > :11:00.time again. Simple tap in but how easy was that for Brazil? It was far

:11:01. > :11:03.too easy. It is one thing being unable to cope with the irresistible

:11:04. > :11:09.exuberance of that very talented front four, but it is another having

:11:10. > :11:17.poor marking in a set piece corner because if you look at it on the

:11:18. > :11:21.replay, he was allowed to get to the ball, the ball comes out of his

:11:22. > :11:24.control and he still had time to put the ball in the back of the net

:11:25. > :11:29.without any pressure on him, no matter who was given him as the man

:11:30. > :11:34.to mark, or whether they were doing zonal marking, it is difficult to

:11:35. > :11:41.tell. No player should be allowed that kind of time insight the areas.

:11:42. > :11:45.-- the area. There were two or three runners, that is the key thing. The

:11:46. > :11:49.number of players were out of position from the ball from Neymar

:11:50. > :11:53.and then you have one of the defenders, one of the better headers

:11:54. > :12:03.in the Brazil team, free, and a few yards out and no one close to him.

:12:04. > :12:08.Poor defending. A contest that might be over. Let's hope that the

:12:09. > :12:19.Brazilians desired to grab themselves a handful -- desire. They

:12:20. > :12:24.are more than capable of doing it. Barbosa, Neymar, Gabrial Jesus,

:12:25. > :12:36.having the most wonderful day at the Maracana R. It is going through its

:12:37. > :12:40.song book, various chants and songs. In many ways this is a dress

:12:41. > :12:46.rehearsal for the Gold Medal final on Saturday evening. The other

:12:47. > :12:56.semifinal, by the way, later this evening between Germany and Nigeria.

:12:57. > :13:02.I think we can safely say that one of the most extraordinary comebacks

:13:03. > :13:07.in the history of football, it is likely that Brazil will be in the

:13:08. > :13:12.final on Saturday. I think whoever they play in the final, Nigeria or

:13:13. > :13:17.Germany, the defending will be better. I can't see mistakes being

:13:18. > :13:23.made from either of these teams the way we've seen from Honduras today.

:13:24. > :13:30.They gifted them the opener. Time and time again they given the ball

:13:31. > :13:36.away and it has been far too easy for Brazil. Just to reiterate, this

:13:37. > :13:42.is effectively an under 23 tournament. Each squad is allowed to

:13:43. > :13:48.select three overage players. The irony was that a mistake made in the

:13:49. > :13:58.opening 25 seconds from Honduras was from their oldest player in the

:13:59. > :14:01.team, Palacios. Gabrial Jesus was trying to get around the back and

:14:02. > :14:08.when they string together those passes, Honduras, they don't have an

:14:09. > :14:18.answer. Superb play from Neymar. Lovely ball. Oh, he's offside.

:14:19. > :14:22.Possibly overelaborate that time, Gabriel Jesus trying to setup

:14:23. > :14:29.Barbosa. The way Honduras gifted position to Brazil to set up the

:14:30. > :14:34.build-up. That was a pass from Honduras that went horribly wrong.

:14:35. > :14:44.The flag actually went up before the pastor Barbosa. -- the pass to

:14:45. > :14:48.Barbosa. They keep getting caught out with the diagonal run, the

:14:49. > :14:55.straight ball. It was Neymar, recognising from the position he was

:14:56. > :15:04.in before, trying to play Barbosa in and over hitting it. In the first

:15:05. > :15:09.half, Neymar took a real battering, he was pulled and pushed, he was hit

:15:10. > :15:14.from behind, he had his hand trodden on and his ribs bruised by the

:15:15. > :15:17.goalkeeper. It didn't stop him demanding the ball and orchestrating

:15:18. > :15:24.it, didn't stop him from leading by example. That is the first time that

:15:25. > :15:29.the Brazil keeper has been put under any pressure. The first real crust

:15:30. > :15:34.they got into the area as well, decent ball played in. -- the first

:15:35. > :15:44.cross. The keeper did well to read it.

:15:45. > :15:55.Penalised for a high boot more than anything else. He was trying to

:15:56. > :16:00.attract the referee's attention to the file. I am not surprised Brazil

:16:01. > :16:07.are making changes, or at least the first of them. Rodrigo Caio, who was

:16:08. > :16:11.booked in the first half, has been projected from a second yellow and a

:16:12. > :16:15.potential suspension for the final on Saturday. He will celebrate his

:16:16. > :16:17.23rd birthday by enjoying the remaining 35 minutes of this game

:16:18. > :16:42.from the comfort of the dugout. On in his stead comes Luan. They

:16:43. > :16:49.don't need to take risks in this position. We will probably see one

:16:50. > :16:56.of the attacking players being brought off to rest as well, perhaps

:16:57. > :17:00.Neymar. Over the next 15 minutes, I can see substitutions being made to

:17:01. > :17:01.give players enough time on the pitch as well if they are called

:17:02. > :17:43.upon in the final. Gabriel Barbosa site down, and a

:17:44. > :17:48.card is coming. It was a poor challenge from Jonathan Pryce. He is

:17:49. > :18:03.frustrated, of course. Excellent skill from Barbosa.

:18:04. > :18:11.It is baking hot. The home supporters against you are singing

:18:12. > :18:19.and chanting every time your opponents are touching the ball. A

:18:20. > :18:25.drop of the shoulder here, a flick of the head there. He decides to

:18:26. > :18:31.take the law into his own hands and he is yellow carded. The 60th minute

:18:32. > :18:35.of a one-sided contest that has been thoroughly enjoyed by those inside

:18:36. > :18:40.the Maracana and those throughout Brazil. The only question that

:18:41. > :18:50.remains is just how many can Brazil score today?

:18:51. > :18:56.Brazil will want to keep this record going off no goals conceded

:18:57. > :19:07.throughout the tournament. It bodes well for them in the gold medal

:19:08. > :19:20.match. We watched the earlier games, particularly the two goalless draws

:19:21. > :19:24.that were involved, and the rare occasions that Weverton was tested,

:19:25. > :19:28.he did look like he might crack under the pressure. So it is a nice,

:19:29. > :19:34.quiet afternoon for him today to give him belief. One can certainly

:19:35. > :19:41.predict that against Germany or Nigeria, he will be tested and that

:19:42. > :19:44.back four will have more work to do. Kevin, you made the point that when

:19:45. > :19:49.they were tested a bit during that first half, they were excellent out

:19:50. > :19:51.of possession as well as in it. They pressed well as a team. They pressed

:19:52. > :20:13.high and quickly. It was a bad mistake from Palacios,

:20:14. > :20:18.gifting Neymar the first goal. But without the ball, they were causing

:20:19. > :20:23.problems. Honduras were a bit slack in possession, giving the ball away

:20:24. > :20:24.time and time again. Brazil had a few bodies ran the ball to then go

:20:25. > :20:52.on the attack quickly. A lot of noise is being generated

:20:53. > :20:55.around the Maracana from jubilant supporters, who I'm sure will be

:20:56. > :21:00.clamouring for tickets for the final on Saturday. In many ways, it is how

:21:01. > :21:05.the whole Olympics Timex is, with the men's Olympic final in the

:21:06. > :21:09.Maracana. Perhaps it would be fitting if Brazil can put on a show.

:21:10. > :21:17.Another yellow card for another poor challenge. Palacios' afternoon

:21:18. > :21:29.started dreadfully and has got worse. It is a poor ball again. Once

:21:30. > :21:34.you have got Gabriel Jesus, you know it will be difficult to stop him.

:21:35. > :21:40.Clear obstruction. It is a cynical foul am the referee with no choice

:21:41. > :21:44.but to give the yellow card. That is the fourth yellow card he has

:21:45. > :21:54.suffered. One in every game he has played. Neymar has had two site is

:21:55. > :22:02.from free kicks, and hit them both into the centre of the war. You

:22:03. > :22:19.would not put it past Neymar. Some toss is there as well. -- Santos.

:22:20. > :22:28.Saved again. One player who can come out of this with credit is Luis

:22:29. > :22:35.Lopez, who has made possibly four really good stops. And that was

:22:36. > :22:44.perhaps the best of them, because he had to make his way over to tip it

:22:45. > :22:49.round. Get himself across very well, Lopez. Is the marking going to be

:22:50. > :22:59.any better from this corner for Honduras? Garcia claims that should

:23:00. > :23:12.be another corner. The referee says goalkick. Brazil's front four have

:23:13. > :23:25.banged in all the goals so far in the tournament.

:23:26. > :23:34.Two for Neymar sofa in the competition, for Jesus, two for

:23:35. > :23:44.Barbosa, two for Luan Vieira. It shows that when chances are created,

:23:45. > :23:49.they will take them. Marquinhos was the exception. So whoever does meet

:23:50. > :23:54.Brazil on Saturday knows they will have to be at their disciplined

:23:55. > :24:12.best. There is a bit of defending to do.

:24:13. > :24:26.It is worth reiterating that Brazil have yet to concede. 0-0 against

:24:27. > :24:33.South Africa and Iraq, 4-0 against Colombia, 4-0 against Honduras. You

:24:34. > :24:50.can't be much more impressive than that defensively. That is a fact.

:24:51. > :24:57.Gabriel Barbosa thought about going over there for the penalty, decided

:24:58. > :25:09.to stay on his feet. At last, maybe Honduras can stretch Brazil.

:25:10. > :25:15.Weverton is there to gather it in. That is probably the most he has

:25:16. > :25:22.been extended in this much. He took a bang and might need some

:25:23. > :25:25.treatment. I think he wants a rest from all the work he has had in this

:25:26. > :25:35.game! It has been comfortable for him. Just takes a nasty belt at the

:25:36. > :25:42.end. I think it was a genuine attempt to play the ball. But it

:25:43. > :25:57.doesn't lessen the pain for the goalkeeper. There is an intriguing

:25:58. > :26:03.story about Weverton, because originally, the overage goalkeeper

:26:04. > :26:07.was a 38-year-old Fernando Prass, who at the end of his career was

:26:08. > :26:13.given the opportunity to be the goalkeeper for this tournament. It

:26:14. > :26:17.was a big story in Brazil. It was one of those were everywhere you

:26:18. > :26:20.went, Brazilian supporters were talking about how this goalkeeper

:26:21. > :26:23.who had never been capped at any level, at the age of 38 was being

:26:24. > :26:31.given the chance to be the custodian for the Olympic site. Well,

:26:32. > :26:37.unfortunately, he picked up an injury and he was out and Weverton

:26:38. > :26:40.was in. Here comes one of the expected changes. Gabriel Jesus is

:26:41. > :26:50.not going to get himself a hat-trick. Instead, he has given 23

:26:51. > :26:54.or 24 minutes off to prepare for the goal final on Saturday. And the man

:26:55. > :27:00.who got Manchester City the thick end of ?30 million and has grabbed

:27:01. > :27:05.himself goals number two and three of the tournament makes way for

:27:06. > :27:08.Lazio's Felipe Anderson, who did start the 32nd games when Brazil

:27:09. > :27:17.drew a blank and have sapped out ever since. Gabriel Jesus has had a

:27:18. > :27:26.very good game. Of course, his goals have highlighted that. But we were

:27:27. > :27:38.both impressed with him, pressing high. For a lot of City fans, they

:27:39. > :27:46.will be very impressed with him. He is a palm air -- player on loan

:27:47. > :27:49.until January. Don't be surprised if they maybe put him on loan again

:27:50. > :28:13.somewhere. I am not sure that should have been

:28:14. > :28:23.flagged. Gabriel Barbosa might have been too advanced but I think he is

:28:24. > :28:35.onside. But does it really matter, with 20 minutes to go? Exactly. Just

:28:36. > :28:50.get on with it. This game has been put to bed.

:28:51. > :28:55.I will take the opportunity to pay a complement to Neymar, because he was

:28:56. > :29:00.in real discomfort scoring the opening goal within 25 seconds or

:29:01. > :29:05.so. In many ways, he could have passed up the opportunity to even

:29:06. > :29:10.represent his country. It is not an obligation for Barcelona to release

:29:11. > :29:15.a player, and indeed am a Manchester City passed up the opportunity to

:29:16. > :29:19.allow Iheanacho to represent Nigeria, for example. There are many

:29:20. > :29:23.other examples of teams who have resisted the temptation to allow

:29:24. > :29:26.their player to represent 13 in the Olympics, but Neymar not only

:29:27. > :29:29.insisted on playing and Barcelona were happy to let him go, but he

:29:30. > :29:36.could have given way to injury today. He has taken many a battering

:29:37. > :29:44.in this match, and he is still out there with 20 minutes to go, 20

:29:45. > :29:47.minutes that are pretty academic in the swing of things, and he is still

:29:48. > :29:51.happy to take the blows for his country. You talked about the first

:29:52. > :29:56.couple of games where they struggled for creativity within the side.

:29:57. > :30:02.Neymar faced a lot of criticism, particularly after that Iraq game,

:30:03. > :30:07.from supporters and the media, questioning the captaincy of the

:30:08. > :30:11.side. And you know what happened two years ago. So for him to represent

:30:12. > :30:22.his country and captain the side in the final will be a big occasion for

:30:23. > :30:25.him. I am sure he has started to recuperate from that broken bone in

:30:26. > :30:28.his lower back that prevented him from playing for Brazil in the

:30:29. > :30:33.semifinal of the Fifa World Cup two years ago. And he has started to

:30:34. > :30:38.reflect on that and a missed opportunity you had to get his team

:30:39. > :30:42.to the final. He probably thought to himself, I wonder if I might get the

:30:43. > :30:49.chance to make amends in the Olympics in my country in two years'

:30:50. > :30:53.time, and whether that feeling of determination, the professionalism

:30:54. > :30:59.within him, that fire that burns within all the great players, might

:31:00. > :31:00.just be the thing that helps Brazil to get that gold medal at the

:31:01. > :31:20.weekend. The skipper, who was booked in the

:31:21. > :31:29.first half, making way. And the Captain's armband goes to Luis

:31:30. > :31:34.Lopez. The captain's armband on the opponent's goalkeeper. Enjoying the

:31:35. > :31:41.day, Neymar. Fabulous stance to the match. Enjoyed it throughout. --

:31:42. > :31:44.start to the match. That's where Honduras have struggled, simple

:31:45. > :31:52.passes like that, giving the ball away, allowing pressure to be built

:31:53. > :31:55.upon them. Brazil, the scoreline suggests they have exploited that

:31:56. > :32:06.badly, severely punishing them when they've given the ball away. That

:32:07. > :32:11.possession stats, enormously in favour of Brazil. That's a foul,

:32:12. > :32:13.another free kick, another poll on Gabriel Barbosa, from Honduras

:32:14. > :32:37.giving the ball away unnecessarily -- pull. Pulling the shorts, it is a

:32:38. > :32:39.yellow card offence, and Espinal receives that. Time and time again,

:32:40. > :32:49.we've seen the same incident happening. I think Brayan Garcia was

:32:50. > :32:55.booked although I'm fairly sure Espinal pulled the shorts of

:32:56. > :33:00.Barbosa. Yes, it's been corrected. The fact is it's a free kick to

:33:01. > :33:08.Brazil and Neymar hit the first three pretty poorly. The third one

:33:09. > :33:12.required a save, in fairness. Surely the law of averages suggests he

:33:13. > :33:17.might score with one of them today, and he hasn't... It has, it has

:33:18. > :33:22.crept in! I thought it had gone in the side netting. Maybe it's an

:33:23. > :33:28.optical illusion, maybe it has gone in the side netting. It's a

:33:29. > :33:33.difficult one to call, isn't it? It is the side netting, I thought it

:33:34. > :33:39.was and then suddenly... One third of the ground were cheering and you

:33:40. > :33:44.rub your eyes and it was the side netting and it stays 4-0. It's how

:33:45. > :33:53.it bounced up as well, it looked as if it was in the net. The first two

:33:54. > :33:59.went into the wall and the third one was saved well by Lopez and the

:34:00. > :34:03.fourth one went into the side netting, deceiving one third of the

:34:04. > :34:20.Maracana. It is 4-0, not five. Sometimes you can be proven wrong

:34:21. > :34:26.from the early five, six minutes of the game. We've seen that Honduras

:34:27. > :34:32.were giving the ball away and Brazil were finding it too easy to

:34:33. > :34:38.breakdown the barrier. When Luis Lopez was stopped with Brazil at 1-0

:34:39. > :34:44.up at close range, the warning signs were apparent and I'm afraid the

:34:45. > :34:48.pattern of play from the Honduras perspective hasn't altered one bit

:34:49. > :34:53.from the opening five minutes of the contest. It hasn't, they haven't

:34:54. > :34:58.learned from their mistakes, continuously making elementary

:34:59. > :35:01.mistakes. A young side who have got to learn their trade. That is the

:35:02. > :35:06.difference between the top players and the lesser players, the ability

:35:07. > :35:12.to recognise situations. When you make one mistake, even twice, don't

:35:13. > :35:20.make it again, certainly not the amount of mistakes that hand --

:35:21. > :35:28.Honduras have made. With a quarter of an hour to go, the substitution.

:35:29. > :35:39.Honduras have a squad of top players on their country. Felipe Anderson of

:35:40. > :35:42.Lazio, supplementing what they already have out there. The number

:35:43. > :35:47.of talented players they have at their disposal compared to those

:35:48. > :35:52.available to Honduras, means we must take into perspective in that

:35:53. > :35:56.reaching the semifinals is a magnificent achievement in itself

:35:57. > :36:02.and cannot be underestimated. Of course not, that's the big thing.

:36:03. > :36:08.Such a vast number of players to choose from as well, Brazil. On the

:36:09. > :36:12.home soil, you said it, this is the medal that they wanted. If they are

:36:13. > :36:18.going to win one Gold Medal, this is what most supporters would have

:36:19. > :36:21.wanted, for the football side. So, Honduras have done great to get to

:36:22. > :36:29.this stage but they've been outclassed in every department in

:36:30. > :36:37.this match. Bearing in mind the additional weight of expectation

:36:38. > :36:42.with the Brazilian women having lost the night before, they couldn't have

:36:43. > :36:46.wished for a better start than that mistake by Honduras in the opening

:36:47. > :36:57.25 seconds which gifted them the opening goal. From then on, it's

:36:58. > :37:02.been plain sailing. Brazil have won a view Gold Medal is already in

:37:03. > :37:11.these Olympics and they have many stars of track and field and so on.

:37:12. > :37:15.But this is ostensibly a football nation, where everywhere you go

:37:16. > :37:23.throughout the country, someone is kicking a ball, whatever age, on the

:37:24. > :37:28.beach or on the streets. It is a nation who have been incredibly

:37:29. > :37:36.successful in international football competition. But who have never won

:37:37. > :37:40.a Gold Medal. This site are going to be in the Gold Medal final and they

:37:41. > :37:45.are going to be playing like this, looking for number five and it is

:37:46. > :37:55.just exquisite to watch. Luan makes it a rout. Whatever else you are

:37:56. > :38:03.doing Saturday evening, tried to get yourself in front of a TV for the

:38:04. > :38:07.Gold Medal final -- try. Brazil are going to be in it and with this kind

:38:08. > :38:11.of irresistible football and quality on show, it is going to be a Gold

:38:12. > :38:17.Medal final that's going to be worth watching, Kevin Kilbane. Certainly

:38:18. > :38:25.is. Breathtaking break away from Brazil. From the left back position,

:38:26. > :38:31.a driving run full Wood. Freeing up Luan and he had the awareness, he

:38:32. > :38:38.knew, Luan, if he took the strike on the ankle he had, he could see

:38:39. > :38:44.Philippe Anderson arriving. Simple tap in for him but the work that

:38:45. > :38:49.went into the goal was outstanding. Brilliant finish and a brilliantly

:38:50. > :38:54.worked goal from Brazil. We've had all sorts of goals, really, the

:38:55. > :39:00.bravery of Neymar, bundling in the opener, we have had the team goal

:39:01. > :39:06.like that, we have had one from the corner, we have had a splitting

:39:07. > :39:11.pass: two occasions Gabriel Jesus has finished it, one on one. The

:39:12. > :39:17.repertoire has been there to admire. Out of possession, excellent when

:39:18. > :39:22.they've needed to be, they've yet to concede a goal in the tournament,

:39:23. > :39:26.all the ingredients are in place. Nigeria and Germany, when they meet

:39:27. > :39:31.in the semifinal, they know that will be a contest in itself. Whoever

:39:32. > :39:40.wins that, they'll have to work very hard to deny what the host nation

:39:41. > :39:48.will demand, Brazilian gold in the men's football tournament. That's

:39:49. > :39:58.the sort of goal as well that we seem, as a boy growing up, famous

:39:59. > :39:59.team goals that Brazil score -- we've seen. What an outstanding team

:40:00. > :40:16.goal that was. Is that a save? Might have got a

:40:17. > :40:23.piece of it, the goalkeeper. A decent strike. 5-0 down. The first

:40:24. > :40:29.time that he's had to make a genuine save. He public could have courted

:40:30. > :40:36.but you can understand why he tempted around the post. These and

:40:37. > :40:40.enough strike from Banegas. -- a decent enough strike. The first time

:40:41. > :40:44.the keeper has had to make any kind of save in the match. Honduras

:40:45. > :40:54.playing for pride now. Who would deny them a goal? The answer is

:40:55. > :40:59.Weverton, and even he is getting a work-out before the Gold Medal

:41:00. > :41:02.final. His reactions, a good save, getting back across the goal. It was

:41:03. > :41:16.struck well enough, well worked corner as well. Elis was denied on

:41:17. > :41:20.this occasion. Lovely play. Taking the quick free kick, Garcia,

:41:21. > :41:25.excellent run down the wing and he had the awareness as well. Not many

:41:26. > :41:29.options centrally. Elis got enough purchase on the strike but Weverton

:41:30. > :41:33.getting back across goal. Wrong-footed as well, he did well to

:41:34. > :41:44.adjust, a good save from the Brazilian goalkeeper. The fifth

:41:45. > :41:52.successive clean sheet, the final requirement for Brazil. How many

:41:53. > :41:58.international teams have reached the final of a major tournament having

:41:59. > :42:03.not conceded a single goal? I'm going to stick my neck out and say

:42:04. > :42:11.that no team has ever done it. I'm sure people will correct me, sweet

:42:12. > :42:18.or e-mail if you can think of one -- tweet. Certainly at this level, not

:42:19. > :42:23.that I can remember. Seven minutes plus what may be two or three added

:42:24. > :42:28.minutes of added time to keep a clean sheet to get themselves to the

:42:29. > :42:36.Gold Medal final, completely faultless at the back. They've

:42:37. > :42:45.scored 11 goals, conceding none, Brazil. The front four have all gone

:42:46. > :42:50.on target at least twice. The goalkeeper has made a couple of

:42:51. > :42:55.saves to build up his confidence. Don't appear to have picked up any

:42:56. > :43:05.injuries either. It will be a sell-out crowd at the Maracana on

:43:06. > :43:10.Saturday. It's all set up. I'll tell you, Nigeria and Germany, whoever

:43:11. > :43:19.wins that second semifinal will not be pushovers, especially Germany.

:43:20. > :43:26.They've proven in the past they are party bloopers and then some.

:43:27. > :43:35.Anderson wanting it on the far side. Isn't going to reach him.

:43:36. > :43:50.Barbosa, I think it should have been passed. He didn't see it. Luan

:43:51. > :43:54.getting it back. The backheel was neat from Rafinha but there was no

:43:55. > :44:06.picture post book end to that move. A pity.

:44:07. > :44:14.You think of the right backs for Brazil, those who have that

:44:15. > :44:25.metronomic engine, he hasn't been called on to do it, Zika. Delightful

:44:26. > :44:33.from Walace. He has been faultless. Barbosa with the shot over the bar.

:44:34. > :44:39.Worth mentioning those two in holding midfield, Renato has gone

:44:40. > :44:45.off but he has been for plus, protecting the centre half players

:44:46. > :44:48.with ease and comfort. They seem to have the right ingredients through

:44:49. > :44:58.the team, don't they? Providing support to the attack as well, very

:44:59. > :45:02.little forward movement from them. They've been struggled, isolated,

:45:03. > :45:07.not able to come out, giving it a Walace. That has been the standout

:45:08. > :45:19.factor from the game, no real pressure from the defensive point of

:45:20. > :45:26.view. Trying to get a consolation. The referee says play on and

:45:27. > :45:31.Weverton took one for the team. None of the Brazilian defenders can get

:45:32. > :45:37.close to him. It was a good challenge from Garcia. He needed to

:45:38. > :45:40.make sure that he got the ball as well because it could have been a

:45:41. > :45:48.red card offence. Looking for the penalty, Elis. Garcia's boot went

:45:49. > :45:57.into the area of which we cannot speak of Weverton.

:45:58. > :46:05.Well, this is a site that was, I suppose, a complete contrast to what

:46:06. > :46:08.we saw two years ago in the final of the Fifa World Cup against Germany.

:46:09. > :46:14.They never had the opportunity to let their emotions gets released.

:46:15. > :46:18.They never had the opportunity to celebrate and jump and thing. They

:46:19. > :46:23.never had the opportunity to see their team, the host nation, in the

:46:24. > :46:26.final. But they are going to see it in the Olympic final. They will see

:46:27. > :46:34.it in the Maracana on Saturday evening. And a population in excess

:46:35. > :46:38.of 200 million, those old enough to watch it, trust me, they will be in

:46:39. > :46:51.front of their TV screens and the pressure will be on the coach to

:46:52. > :46:57.deliver. Three silvers and two bronzes or that Brazil have been

:46:58. > :47:02.able to boast. Five times, they may have won the World Cup, but this has

:47:03. > :47:07.proved elusive, this crop of largely under 23 players may well have the

:47:08. > :47:12.opportunity to deliver. The way they have played today and the manner in

:47:13. > :47:17.which they have defended when they have needed to suggests that they

:47:18. > :47:25.will be overwhelming favourites. Perhaps it might only be the weight

:47:26. > :47:29.of expectation that might stop them. A number of factors. Mentally, can

:47:30. > :47:35.be handled the pressure? There is expectation on their shoulders and

:47:36. > :47:40.we will also see a sterner test from Nigeria or Germany, whoever wins the

:47:41. > :47:43.other semifinal. But as you say, on tonight's showing, with the

:47:44. > :47:47.experience they have got and the class of players they have got, it

:47:48. > :47:55.would be difficult for anyone to stop Brazil. Of course, we will

:47:56. > :48:01.bring you coverage of the second semifinal, Nigeria and Germany. That

:48:02. > :48:06.kicks off in roughly an hour and a quarter, for the right to meet

:48:07. > :48:07.Brazil in the gold medal final. Honduras, of course, will be in the

:48:08. > :48:27.bronze medal game on Saturday. We have alluded to that infamous

:48:28. > :48:31.semifinal between Brazil and Germany, where Brazil were out of

:48:32. > :48:34.sight within half an hour. It was a humiliation and the like of which

:48:35. > :48:40.this proud country had never witnessed before. Wouldn't it just

:48:41. > :48:48.be fitting if it was a Brazil- German final on Saturday? Neymar

:48:49. > :48:53.goes for gold, and is denied by Luis Lopez, who has made five or six

:48:54. > :49:01.excellent stops tonight. Neymar did well. He didn't have many options.

:49:02. > :49:07.Challenged from behind. The referee says, I have no choice. You may be

:49:08. > :49:12.five goals down, it may be the 90th minute, but I am going to point to

:49:13. > :49:20.the spot. It will be an opportunity for goal number six. Neymar says, I

:49:21. > :49:24.would take it, thank you. Any doubts, Kevin? Not at all. I don't

:49:25. > :49:35.know why Palacio is going for the ball. Glaciers has had a nightmare.

:49:36. > :49:40.Defensively, he has been extremely poor. In possession, he has been

:49:41. > :49:47.poor. It has just been one of those days for him. Well, there is a

:49:48. > :49:50.degree of symmetry about this. A Palacio 's mistake in the opening

:49:51. > :49:53.seconds of the match gave Neymar the chance to open the scoring. I

:49:54. > :50:02.Palacio 's error may well allow Neymar to put the final touches on

:50:03. > :50:13.this one-sided Olympic semifinal. Neymar started the scoring. Neymar

:50:14. > :50:21.completes the scoring! Brazil six, Honduras zero. And the gold medal

:50:22. > :50:25.final beckons for the host nation. You can probably hear 200 million

:50:26. > :50:31.people right across this huge country, all celebrating as one.

:50:32. > :50:37.They have wanted this gold medal more than any other. On Saturday,

:50:38. > :50:41.Brazil, Neymar as their captain, will be battling it out for it. The

:50:42. > :50:53.semifinal from the very first minute to the last has belonged to Brazil,

:50:54. > :50:56.has belonged to Neymar. 6-0. And despite the errors that Honduras

:50:57. > :51:03.have made tonight, and they have made many, Brazil have been

:51:04. > :51:11.irresistible. They certainly have. Great celebrations for Neymar.

:51:12. > :51:16.Lovely penalty. Neymar just waiting for Lopez to dive to his left, and

:51:17. > :51:20.stroking it away to the corner, in off the post. As you say, it has

:51:21. > :51:24.capped off a brilliant display from Neymar personally, and the team.

:51:25. > :51:31.This could have been double-figure tonight. Outstanding play from

:51:32. > :51:37.Brazil. The referee brings to an end one of the most impressive

:51:38. > :51:43.performances of the entire tournament. Two years ago, at the

:51:44. > :51:50.semifinal stage, Brazil, in their own World Cup, capitulated to

:51:51. > :51:56.Germany and were beaten infamously 7-1. The contrast to today could not

:51:57. > :52:02.be greater. Six goals that began in the first minute through Neymar,

:52:03. > :52:08.ended in the 90th minute through Neymar. Two goals for Gabriel Jesus,

:52:09. > :52:14.one for Luan, one for Marquinhos. Brazil are in the gold medal final.

:52:15. > :52:18.The Maracana will end the weekend's events of this wonderful Olympics

:52:19. > :52:27.here in their own country. Will Brazil cap it all with a gold medal?

:52:28. > :52:30.Final school, 6-0. The gold medal final beckons for the hosts -- final

:52:31. > :52:47.score. STUDIO: Well, it was a rout in the

:52:48. > :52:52.end, wasn't it? Six goals for Brazil against Honduras. The important

:52:53. > :52:53.thing is, there are still in the hunt for that first Olympic football

:52:54. > :53:10.gold medal. They are into the final. Brazil in the final, guys? Yeah!

:53:11. > :53:13.They are happy. They are very happy. I am sure the feeling is the same

:53:14. > :53:18.down on Copacabana Beach, Dan Walker?

:53:19. > :53:25.Yes, we have very happy people here. No, we haven't. They have been up

:53:26. > :53:30.and down the bars, enjoying themselves, celebrating Brazil's

:53:31. > :53:33.impressive victory. Yesterday as Ore has been telling you, the Brazilian

:53:34. > :53:37.women failed to reach the gold medal match and there was a mixture of

:53:38. > :53:40.success and failure in the beach volleyball as well. The women's top

:53:41. > :53:45.seeds didn't manage to make the gold medal match, but the men's top seeds

:53:46. > :53:50.are through to the gold medal in the beach volleyball. It is day 12. We

:53:51. > :53:56.will be here on Copacabana Beach for you for the next few hours. It is a

:53:57. > :53:59.beautiful day, about 30 degrees. The beach is packed, the short sleeves

:54:00. > :54:03.are out. There is a suggestion I might have shorts on for the first

:54:04. > :54:12.time, but I am not going to show you the legs. This is all on the way for

:54:13. > :54:16.you today. It is the men's basketball

:54:17. > :54:19.quarterfinals. Can the 20 silver medallists Spain rediscover some

:54:20. > :54:25.form? We will see the American dream dream in action later.

:54:26. > :54:29.Justin Rose won gold in the men's golf. Can Charley Hull and Catriona

:54:30. > :54:37.Matthew do the same in the women's? They are in action now. After the

:54:38. > :54:40.drama of the women semifinal in terms of the football, we will see

:54:41. > :54:46.if Germany and Nigeria are battling it out to play Brazil in the final.

:54:47. > :54:50.And the track cycling may have finished, but we now have the

:54:51. > :54:53.thrills and spills of the BMX. If you have never seen it, it is well

:54:54. > :55:00.worth your attention. It is brilliant to watch. Liam Phillips of

:55:01. > :55:04.Team GB is one of the favourites. 2012, he got the final and crashed

:55:05. > :55:52.out. Could this be his time to shine in Rio?

:55:53. > :55:59.In terms of our offering for you at the moment, there is a bit of BMX on

:56:00. > :56:13.BBC One. And there is golf on the Red Button. And also across the

:56:14. > :56:19.website and on the BBC Sport app, you can see a bit of BMX. This

:56:20. > :56:26.should give you a good idea of how you can watch what you like over the

:56:27. > :56:31.next few days. To help you make even more of your

:56:32. > :56:35.Rio 2016 Olympic Games from boxing to badminton, hockey to handball,

:56:36. > :56:39.we've got it all covered by it here on the BBC. Alongside coverage on

:56:40. > :56:44.BBC One, BBC Four and Radio 5 Live, you can access up to 24 live sports

:56:45. > :56:49.on the BBC Sport website, or via the BBC Sport app, on mobile, connected

:56:50. > :56:53.TVs and games consoles. The best of these will be available on the Red

:56:54. > :56:57.Button, via satellite, cable or Freeview, depending on your set-top

:57:12. > :57:16.He really does want a pair of white trousers, Ore. Right, let's start

:57:17. > :57:19.with some basketball for you on BBC Four, where the dream team are the

:57:20. > :57:22.clear favourites for the competition. They have won many

:57:23. > :57:26.golds in this competition, but they have been showing a few cracks. We

:57:27. > :57:32.showed you that game a week ago where Australia pushed them all the

:57:33. > :57:34.way. For the quarterfinals, let's show you how that is going to pan

:57:35. > :58:04.out. Let's head to the Carioca Arena 2

:58:05. > :58:10.and join the game live. Spain are leading. We join this one in the

:58:11. > :58:11.second quarter. Mike Carlson and Mark Chester are the commentary

:58:12. > :58:23.team. COMMENTATOR: Beautiful shot. Parker

:58:24. > :58:30.has taken it upon himself to get France back into this game. Now he

:58:31. > :58:32.has reduced the gap, and that is a tremendous fillip for them. They are

:58:33. > :59:03.right back in this now. It is like having another coach. We

:59:04. > :59:10.have a lot of veterans in this game, Smart basketball players. He can

:59:11. > :59:19.talk the talk, but he can also walk the walk. In Europe, in the NBA, in

:59:20. > :59:30.the Olympic Games. Whatever stage you want. We haven't quite seen the

:59:31. > :59:42.fireworks that sometimes these two teams produce, but it could still

:59:43. > :59:50.build today. He lost the ball and then recovered it. Knowing that he

:59:51. > :59:54.came off in the last game, that is what you might call a studied

:59:55. > :00:00.response from Navarro. Very controlled, not going to give the

:00:01. > :00:06.referee any excuse to look at him. This gives fans the opportunity to

:00:07. > :00:16.Parker to get them within one shot -- it gives France the opportunity.

:00:17. > :00:21.They are giving hurtle and unsportsmanlike deliberate foul, but

:00:22. > :00:22.is harsh. Let's just check this. He was giving
