:00:49. > :00:56.Good evening. This is the start of another long Olympic night for you,

:00:57. > :01:00.it is caffeine and carbs. You will get through to 11:30pm and you will

:01:01. > :01:06.think, I can't do this again tomorrow. We have the women's beach

:01:07. > :01:12.volleyball final happening at two o'clock. We will need plenty of that

:01:13. > :01:15.as well to get through. It is day 12 at the Olympic Games. The action is

:01:16. > :01:20.coming thick and fast once again. They are still punching, literally

:01:21. > :01:27.and metaphorically, and we have some punching for you in the women's

:01:28. > :01:31.boxing, shortly. First of all, two nations in the women's hockey. We

:01:32. > :01:34.have the Netherlands, the world's number one team going for their

:01:35. > :01:42.third gold in a row here in Rio, and they are up against the Germans.

:01:43. > :01:53.This was always going to be tasty in the first of the women's semifinals.

:01:54. > :01:58.Check this out that was not ideal. They didn't quite get the shot away.

:01:59. > :02:07.Let off for Germany. They break down left with Schutze travelling nicely.

:02:08. > :02:16.She has got past the two. She has got to the circle. And she has got a

:02:17. > :02:21.possibly due to the pitch drying out, the injection. Schutze does

:02:22. > :02:46.well. First penalty for the Germans. Muller. First goal of the match and

:02:47. > :02:55.it is scored for Germany by Lisa Schutze. Muller unleashes a bullet

:02:56. > :02:57.from the top. The Dutch goalkeeper has got to be disappointed with

:02:58. > :03:04.this. It went straight down the middle. She should know exactly what

:03:05. > :03:07.Muller is going to do. Two Dutch defenders around and Lisa Schutze

:03:08. > :03:28.puts it in. 1-0, Germany. Good start to the second quarter for

:03:29. > :03:34.the Netherlands. They earn a penalty corner as the ball flew off a German

:03:35. > :03:42.leg. Does well to get a touch on the reverse stick, and she kicks the

:03:43. > :03:51.ball with a right foot. Second penalty corner of the match for the

:03:52. > :04:03.Dutch. That is a great goal. That was a beauty from Maartje Paumen.

:04:04. > :04:06.That is why she is regarded as the best golf look at the world. She is

:04:07. > :04:12.closing in on 200 international goals, and she celebrates like it is

:04:13. > :04:27.her purse. It is a ripper down the stick side of Kristina Reynolds.

:04:28. > :04:31.That is a skill to try and model. It is fearsome, but there is no

:04:32. > :04:36.splitting them at full-time. And this one came down to a penalty

:04:37. > :04:36.shoot out between these two great nations, Netherlands against

:04:37. > :05:08.Germany. The Netherlands, first away with

:05:09. > :05:16.Willemijn Bos. Off the goalkeeper and in. Good start. Exactly what the

:05:17. > :05:23.Dutch needed. Kristina Reynolds fumbled the straight line. She does

:05:24. > :05:37.get that left glove onto but the power of the shot is what beat her,

:05:38. > :05:45.and now it is Janne Muller-Wieland for the Germans. Muller-Wieland,

:05:46. > :05:51.offer goalkeeper and in. We had to wait as that one floated towards the

:05:52. > :05:58.goal, but found the target. It was a hold your breath moment for any

:05:59. > :06:09.German fan. That just flicks up off the arm, and you can see what it

:06:10. > :06:16.meant for Janne Muller-Wieland. Saved, terrific goalkeeping.

:06:17. > :06:24.Reynolds watched her, every step of the way as she shuffled to the left

:06:25. > :06:29.of the circle. She didn't do enough on this one. One of the most skilful

:06:30. > :06:33.players in the world but the closest she got to that baseline, the more

:06:34. > :06:49.likely it was that Reynolds was going to make the save. Up to the

:06:50. > :07:02.edge. Where will she go? It is in. 2-1 for Germany, the goal by Marie

:07:03. > :07:09.Mavers. With this skill level, you can certainly wrong-foot the

:07:10. > :07:14.goalkeeper. Next up, for the Netherlands, realistically, this has

:07:15. > :07:25.to be put past Reynolds by Marloes Keetels. No, it is saved. Another

:07:26. > :07:30.great save from Reynolds. Keetels has missed. Germany, three from

:07:31. > :07:36.three. I beg your pardon, the Dutch, just one from three. There does not

:07:37. > :07:42.seem to be any confidence in the Dutch penalty takers. Keetels does

:07:43. > :08:03.not do enough to beat Kristina Reynolds. Altenburg on her way. And

:08:04. > :08:11.it is saved. It is out of the D so it is over. And for me, Altenburg is

:08:12. > :08:28.not the most confident in there. She just runs at Sombroek. And now it is

:08:29. > :08:34.Margot van Geffen for the Dutch. Thought about taking it long, runs

:08:35. > :08:41.into space, and that is a great penalty from Van Geffen. Absolutely

:08:42. > :08:47.fantastic. Looked like she was going to smash it, Kristina Reynolds goes

:08:48. > :08:52.for the dummy, but to have the confidence to roll it on your

:08:53. > :09:04.backhand as a defender and put it in the back of the net... Two out of

:09:05. > :09:11.four for the Dutch. And now Jana Teschke for Germany. Taking the

:09:12. > :09:21.time. Running out of options, running out of seconds. Sombroek has

:09:22. > :09:25.the job done. All square. Well played by Sombroek. She stayed on

:09:26. > :09:31.her feet. Jana Teschke trying to turn her back on her, but she did

:09:32. > :09:36.really well. Takes big strides. Jana Teschke could have not met her, but

:09:37. > :09:48.she didn't, and now with the responsibility for Holland, it is

:09:49. > :09:58.Kelly Jonker. Fifth penalty for the Dutch, Kelly Jonker away. And

:09:59. > :10:07.Kristina Reynolds makes the save! Here we are at 2-2. Kristina

:10:08. > :10:17.Reynolds stays big, Kelly Jonker did not move Reynolds enough. And now,

:10:18. > :10:25.with the responsibility for Germany, Franzisca Hauke. If she scores, they

:10:26. > :10:29.win. Franzisca Hauke has a chance to guarantee Germany and Olympic hockey

:10:30. > :10:42.medal. The Dutch need some breaks from Sombroek. Sombroek makes the

:10:43. > :10:47.save! So, we're into sudden death. It started well for the Germans,

:10:48. > :10:53.scoring their first two, but Sombroek has shown what a quality

:10:54. > :10:57.goalkeeper she is. And now, you can choose who goes, in what order. It

:10:58. > :11:02.doesn't have to be exactly the same order. And it should be the Germans

:11:03. > :11:07.to take the penalty purse, so the teams reverse, and you can choose

:11:08. > :11:14.somebody, ideally, who has already scored, to step up and do it again.

:11:15. > :11:25.The German captain is stepping up to go first, Janne Muller-Wieland.

:11:26. > :11:30.Unbelievable tension. Muller-Wieland waiting for Sombroek who took her

:11:31. > :11:35.helmet off and took a gulp of water. It is resting on that hockey field

:11:36. > :11:44.right now and as a goalkeeper you are wearing more close than anybody.

:11:45. > :11:49.-- it is roasting. Sudden death now. 2-2 after five, and now the sudden

:11:50. > :12:02.death situation. The German captain against the Dutch goalkeeper. She

:12:03. > :12:06.has squeezed it in, somehow. What a finish from Muller-Wieland. An

:12:07. > :12:12.extraordinary angle. That is absolutely insane. The Dutch were

:12:13. > :12:17.almost celebrating. Sombroek does well not to fall for the dummy. She

:12:18. > :12:25.makes a brilliant save, off the stick and onto their helmet, but

:12:26. > :12:33.from that angle, and diving, Janne Muller-Wieland, take a bow. And now

:12:34. > :12:39.for the Netherlands, Willemijn Bos has to score. Kristina Reynolds

:12:40. > :12:45.saves, Willemijn Bos gets another chance and makes no mistake. Heart

:12:46. > :12:52.in mouth is all around the stadium amongst the Dutch supporters. Again,

:12:53. > :13:02.Kristina Reynolds does well, but she does not know where the ball has

:13:03. > :13:10.gone. Willemijn Bos was composed. I would imagine we will see the same

:13:11. > :13:21.thing from her, the spin in front of Sombroek. She is coming at speed,

:13:22. > :13:28.Marie Mavers. She tried to go through the legs of Sombroek. Well,

:13:29. > :13:33.well, well. She just did not spend enough, Marie Mavers, in front of

:13:34. > :13:47.Joyce Sombroek who gets the inside of the pad. Didn't do enough, it

:13:48. > :13:51.comes off the right pad, and now if Ellen Hoog scores, the Dutch are in

:13:52. > :13:58.the final. She's slaloming left and right. She scores. The Netherlands

:13:59. > :14:02.are going through in the Olympic hockey tournament. They have

:14:03. > :14:13.defeated Germany in the penalty shoot out. And the Germans are in

:14:14. > :14:17.despair. What a way to finish. Ellen Hoog, the hero of the Netherlands

:14:18. > :14:26.side. The Dutch still on for three in a

:14:27. > :14:29.row, and the second big penalty shoot out of the summer that the

:14:30. > :14:34.Germans have lost, they go into the bronze medal play-off. And great

:14:35. > :14:39.Britain will be taking on New Zealand in the second semifinal at

:14:40. > :14:44.9pm tonight, in Great Britain. That is a rerun of the 2012 bronze medal

:14:45. > :14:48.play-off that was won by Great Britain so that is a real grudge

:14:49. > :14:52.rematch. To see who will go through to face the Dutch in the final. All

:14:53. > :14:54.of these team sports are now coming to the boil in this second week of

:14:55. > :15:05.the Rio Olympics. Not coming to the boil is the medal

:15:06. > :15:11.race in the men's 470. It has been delayed for an hour and a half.

:15:12. > :15:16.Saskia Clark and Hannah Mills are guaranteed a gold medal. They are

:15:17. > :15:22.trying to keep themselves limbering up before they get to the start

:15:23. > :15:25.line. If they just finished the race, they just have to turn up and

:15:26. > :15:32.complete the race to be crowned officially old medal champions.

:15:33. > :15:35.Interestingly, Hannah Mills, from Cardiff, has a whole posse of

:15:36. > :15:40.friends and family on the shore, including her mum, aunt and cousin,

:15:41. > :15:44.and they are waiting yellow dusters, because her great-grandmother

:15:45. > :15:52.emigrated to the United States on a bigger boat leaving Britain and

:15:53. > :15:56.waved a yellow duster as she said farewell, so in her memory, and by

:15:57. > :16:03.way of good luck, they are waving them for Hannah and Saskia. Surely,

:16:04. > :16:10.the girls are just behind you. They are not going anywhere either! It

:16:11. > :16:13.has been interesting, watching them. They are still going through their

:16:14. > :16:20.routines like normal, not taking anything for granted. For those of

:16:21. > :16:25.us just joining it on BBC Two, how dominant have they been? They have

:16:26. > :16:32.been rock solid, they have not made any mistakes. It was a surprise for

:16:33. > :16:38.them to get to the end of their feeds so far fled, 20 points ahead.

:16:39. > :16:40.In great shape. They only have to finish it without getting into

:16:41. > :16:45.trouble and the gold medal is theirs. They have been together

:16:46. > :16:51.since London, they took the silver medal there, and I know it was a

:16:52. > :16:56.battle, were they going to continue, but they are such a tight

:16:57. > :17:00.partnership. They are, and Hannah Mills is a little dynamo, she is so

:17:01. > :17:06.tactically aware, she has been winning World Championships cinch

:17:07. > :17:13.she was this tall. Since she was a junior. Just waiting for the moment

:17:14. > :17:17.for her to win a gold medal. She is cross with herself for missing out

:17:18. > :17:24.in London, so hopefully she can let that go now. Is it my imagination or

:17:25. > :17:29.have more of these classes finished with a day to spare than normal? It

:17:30. > :17:37.feels like that to me. It has for the British medallists. In those

:17:38. > :17:40.classes they have been so dominant. Giles Scott has won everything for

:17:41. > :17:45.the last four years. He wanted to make sure that he absolutely nailed

:17:46. > :17:51.it before he got to the vagaries of the stadium race. It is partly made

:17:52. > :17:57.for TV, a short race, in the bosom of Sugarloaf, with the crowd on the

:17:58. > :18:03.beach. You don't want the risk, he worked hard to be far enough ahead,

:18:04. > :18:09.as have the girls, and Nick Dempsey, who won the silver in windsurfing.

:18:10. > :18:16.In other classes we have had a ding-dong. There is one tomorrow in

:18:17. > :18:24.women's skiff, four on equal points, including the Brazilian. That will

:18:25. > :18:27.be a humdinger. You have had so many different types of conditions to

:18:28. > :18:33.cope with, we have talked about the conditions in the mountains, but

:18:34. > :18:37.there is too much wind, the lasers were taken off the water because it

:18:38. > :18:44.was too dangerous, and now you are, gain. We have seen it all. We knew

:18:45. > :18:48.we would. It seems hard to predict what is going on. It is very

:18:49. > :18:55.mountainous, we have the influence from the Atlantic. The mountains are

:18:56. > :19:02.massive. It makes it very difficult. We are expecting a storm later

:19:03. > :19:05.today. I was drenched on the Atlantic Ocean, nobody predicted

:19:06. > :19:11.that, I hope it does not come in today. In terms of the regattas you

:19:12. > :19:14.have been to, you have competed in many of them, how does this one

:19:15. > :19:18.compared in terms of the facilities and the way the event has been run?

:19:19. > :19:25.Because there is only one more day to go. In terms of the race tracks,

:19:26. > :19:32.it has been the hardest I have known. This is my seventh Olympics.

:19:33. > :19:35.Seven racecourses, they have had current and difficult winds and bits

:19:36. > :19:41.of stuff on the water. A lot to deal with. The guys we have seen on the

:19:42. > :19:48.top step of the podium of the best the sport has, mentally strong.

:19:49. > :19:54.Onshore, it is the same for every sport, it is not the easiest place

:19:55. > :20:00.to stay and train and love, but if there is a gold medal at stake, you

:20:01. > :20:05.make it work. I can think of worse places to be hanging around and not

:20:06. > :20:08.having to work for it, their hard work is done, just crossed the line

:20:09. > :20:16.and the gold medal will be theirs. Wish them well, we will catch you

:20:17. > :20:20.later. We are talking boxing bout, no celebrations, only hard graft

:20:21. > :20:25.this evening. It is the lightweight women's semifinals this evening. The

:20:26. > :20:30.big surprise on Monday was that Katie Taylor, the defending champion

:20:31. > :20:37.from Ireland, a class apart in London, went out, and it is the

:20:38. > :20:39.woman who beat her from Finland, Mira Potkonen, in the quarterfinals,

:20:40. > :20:56.against Yin Junhua. We are at the semifinal stage of the

:20:57. > :21:01.women's 60 kilograms, lightweight division. Both boxers guaranteed at

:21:02. > :21:08.least bronze. Each one of them with ambitions to get through to the gold

:21:09. > :21:14.medal match. The boxer in blue, Yin Junhua of China. Her opponent in

:21:15. > :21:18.red, the orthodox stance. A good right hand to the body, Mira

:21:19. > :21:28.Potkonen, ranked 11th in the world, the reigning World Championship

:21:29. > :21:32.bronze medallist. A good start by both boxers, in pursuit of a place

:21:33. > :21:36.in the gold medal match. They have met twice before, it is the boxer in

:21:37. > :21:43.blue that prevailed in both of their previous contests. Early impressions

:21:44. > :21:52.here, Mira Potkonen will have to quicken her feet. She is too slow.

:21:53. > :21:57.Yin Junhua is good at catching her opponent as she comes in. If Mira

:21:58. > :22:04.Potkonen has slow feet, she will walk onto the shop. Yin Junhua is

:22:05. > :22:07.skilful. If she has the time and space, she will score with that

:22:08. > :22:12.punch. Mira Potkonen has two quicken the feet. We have seen her in the

:22:13. > :22:19.past with a fantastic victory over Katie Taylor. She is applying

:22:20. > :22:28.pressure, trying to pin Yin Junhua to the ropes. In the previous

:22:29. > :22:30.contests, Yin Junhua wafter loser. In Kazakhstan Mira Potkonen beat her

:22:31. > :22:46.en route to the bronze medal. Mira Potkonen prevailed last year as

:22:47. > :22:51.well. The boxer in red one the previous encounters, and the

:22:52. > :22:59.right-hand drives Yin Junhua back towards the neutral corner. The

:23:00. > :23:06.first minute was better for Yin Junhua. Mira Potkonen was too far

:23:07. > :23:10.away and too slow. Towards the end of the round, she started to get a

:23:11. > :23:17.bit closer. More pressure, intense pressure. Coming forward, if you

:23:18. > :23:23.give Yin Junhua time and space on the outside, she is good at catching

:23:24. > :23:25.you as you come in. Quality of the punching is not brilliant here. That

:23:26. > :23:39.is a nice shot, though. The first minute or so Yin Junhua

:23:40. > :23:59.controlled it better. Immediately onto the front foot is

:24:00. > :24:02.Mira Potkonen, the 35-year-old from Finland, trying to overturn the

:24:03. > :24:08.deficit she faces after the first round. This is where she has

:24:09. > :24:18.success, pinning Yin Junhua to the ropes and scoring effectively. What

:24:19. > :24:21.is evident is that the red corner said to their boxer, you must close

:24:22. > :24:26.the gap down quicker, that is why she has come out on the front foot,

:24:27. > :24:31.rocks and with more urgency, because if she stays at bay, she is getting

:24:32. > :24:36.picked off. Sensible pressure on the front foot. She has got to think

:24:37. > :24:43.before she launches the attack, but controlled aggression going forward.

:24:44. > :24:49.12 boxers began this tournament, we are down to the final four. Yin

:24:50. > :25:02.Junhua typed with a couple of big shots. Yin Junhua forced to hold on.

:25:03. > :25:06.An intervention by the referee. Giving Yin Junhua time to recover

:25:07. > :25:11.after she was shaken up, but she walks back into the fray, into the

:25:12. > :25:19.precise punches produced by Mira Potkonen. Yin Junhua is clever. On

:25:20. > :25:23.the back foot. Trying to get a bit of space and time so she can see the

:25:24. > :25:34.attacks coming. She has a good right hook. Good timing. She has got a bit

:25:35. > :25:39.of skill. The third contest for both of these boxers, to see who will

:25:40. > :25:48.progress through to the gold medal match. Terrific atmosphere here

:25:49. > :25:54.again. Mira Potkonen ending the contest on the front foot. Yin

:25:55. > :26:00.Junhua fought back to make it an exchange, but a good response, after

:26:01. > :26:07.Yin Junhua took the opening round unanimously. Better work from Mira

:26:08. > :26:12.Potkonen. She started the round very well indeed on different foot.

:26:13. > :26:16.Sensible pressure coming forward, pinning her opponent on the ropes,

:26:17. > :26:21.getting through with the shots. Mira Potkonen a definite that around. I

:26:22. > :26:36.hope the scores reflect that. I thought Mira Potkonen did enough

:26:37. > :26:57.to win that round. Into the second half of the contest,

:26:58. > :27:04.both boxers flying out to clash in the centre of the ring. The boxer in

:27:05. > :27:08.blue, the rain it will championship bronze medallist, on the front foot

:27:09. > :27:14.again, but Yin Junhua is biting effectively. Mira Potkonen got

:27:15. > :27:21.closer in the second round. She edged it for one judge. It makes it

:27:22. > :27:26.19-19 on that Judge's card, but a two point advantage for the other

:27:27. > :27:33.two judges. The referee has to be stronger. On two occasions Mira

:27:34. > :27:36.Potkonen trying to force the pace, force her opponent back to the

:27:37. > :27:42.ropes, then Yin Junhua comes out and holds. The referee should be

:27:43. > :27:47.recognising that and saying, you should not be holding like that. She

:27:48. > :27:52.is going from the defensive position forward to grab her opponent. The

:27:53. > :28:02.referee should pick up on that. Yin Junhua initiating it, Mira Potkonen

:28:03. > :28:10.being tangled up. Yin Junhua being put under pressure. Effective front

:28:11. > :28:17.foot aggression. That is a sign of frustration by Mira Potkonen. That

:28:18. > :28:22.is a point. All of her hard work has been undone by virtue of that point

:28:23. > :28:27.against her, she walks into a cracking southpaw right arm as the

:28:28. > :28:31.action resumes. That is a point of the total of the boxer in red,

:28:32. > :28:36.despite all of the effective pressure she was able to launch and

:28:37. > :28:44.sustain. Unless she has won this round, it could be 10-8 in favour of

:28:45. > :28:47.the boxer in blue. It was wrong, but she is first rated, it has not been

:28:48. > :28:54.a good refereeing performance, because Yin Junhua is constantly off

:28:55. > :29:01.the roads. She was wrong to do it, but the referee has not helped

:29:02. > :29:05.matters. Just before her taking her seat, Mira Potkonen took an age to

:29:06. > :29:10.return to her red corner, because it was a dispirited slog across the

:29:11. > :29:18.canvas, after having the point docked. She should not do that. But

:29:19. > :29:29.before that, Yin Junhua was holding on the roads. At any given

:29:30. > :29:31.opportunity. The referee should have picked up on that and told her not

:29:32. > :29:54.to hold. Somehow, those scores are 10-8,

:29:55. > :30:00.aren't they? As we move into the fourth and final round, look, that

:30:01. > :30:06.is exactly what has happened again, Ronald. And the referee has done

:30:07. > :30:10.nothing about it. That is a cracking left uppercut from Yin, and the

:30:11. > :30:15.verbal warnings in session from the referee. And yet they continue

:30:16. > :30:27.throughout the contest. -- incessant from the referee. Now, she is

:30:28. > :30:31.mounting a rally. She tries to find that finishing shot. Yin appeared to

:30:32. > :30:38.be a little bit naughty with their head here. Look at the frustration

:30:39. > :30:44.from Potkonen. Tied up once again to the extent that she is boxing both

:30:45. > :30:45.of the ears of Yin. The referee repeatedly saying no holding, no

:30:46. > :31:01.holding. Potkonen throwing everything she has

:31:02. > :31:12.at Yin in an effort to make that gold-medal bout. Looking to get her

:31:13. > :31:16.first victory, the boxer. She's throwing absolutely everything into

:31:17. > :31:22.every shot, Potkonen. She is walking onto a few things as well, Potkonen,

:31:23. > :31:29.by putting everything into her punches, she is there to be hit

:31:30. > :31:37.herself. Certainly, the boxer in blue looking for her first victory.

:31:38. > :31:41.After being invested by Potkonen in a multi-nations tournament in

:31:42. > :31:48.Potkonen's hometown in Helsinki the year before that. What a time and

:31:49. > :31:55.what an occasion in which to secure your first victory in three meetings

:31:56. > :31:58.over a familiar rival. It will be Yin Junhua of China, the fifth

:31:59. > :32:05.ranked boxer in the world, who will go through at the expense of the

:32:06. > :32:13.11th ranked boxer in the world, Mira Potkonen. She has had a great run to

:32:14. > :32:17.hear. She defeated the Brazilian 2012 bronze medallist, then came up

:32:18. > :32:23.against Katie Taylor, and a stone 2-1, so split decision victories in

:32:24. > :32:32.previous two contests then faces a boxer ranked six places higher than

:32:33. > :32:39.her, and she has been out pointed. And the point for that head but it

:32:40. > :32:42.did not help her cause all. Yin on the back foot did the better stuff

:32:43. > :32:52.in the earlier rounds, and she goes through. Ladies and gentlemen, the

:32:53. > :33:07.winner by unanimous decision... In the blue corner... Yin Junhua. Yin

:33:08. > :33:12.Junhua China, the fifth ranked boxer and the world, goes through to the

:33:13. > :33:19.gold-medal bout in the women's 60 kilograms lightweight division. She

:33:20. > :33:24.has done so with a unanimous points decision victory over her familiar

:33:25. > :33:28.advocacy, Potkonen of Finland. Potkonen comes away with Olympic

:33:29. > :33:33.bronze. The Chinese boxer Yin goes through to the final and will face

:33:34. > :33:40.is tell Mossley of France. There will be a new champion in that

:33:41. > :33:47.lightweight division. And there will be a new champion in the equestrian

:33:48. > :33:50.team jumping event. Great Britain did not qualify for the final

:33:51. > :33:51.concluding round today, so who would become the new champions? Let's find

:33:52. > :34:02.out. A very good morning to you from

:34:03. > :34:08.Deodoro, the venue for the equestrian events at the 2016

:34:09. > :34:14.Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. A brilliant round yesterday, Kent

:34:15. > :34:20.Farrington jumping in his first Olympic Games. He has been part of

:34:21. > :34:27.the Nations cup team of America which has been so very successful.

:34:28. > :34:33.He has won some big grands prix this year and he is on cracking form.

:34:34. > :34:41.America, though, to remind you we learnt that Beezy Madden had

:34:42. > :34:46.withdrawn so America one of three teams on a zero score but only have

:34:47. > :35:01.three riders. Every one is going to count in this exciting finale before

:35:02. > :35:11.those Olympic medals are given out. Normally a very naturally quick ride

:35:12. > :35:20.around the arena. -- quick ride. Just making sure of the big

:35:21. > :35:32.vertical. Now he's opening the stride out. There will be intense

:35:33. > :35:45.pressure, because all of these scores for the USA are going to

:35:46. > :35:52.count. It is again, just over the 82 seconds time allowed, but it is

:35:53. > :35:57.clear jumping, one time thought. Kent Farrington was not quite at his

:35:58. > :36:02.fluent best but he is determined to jump clear. And the way this is

:36:03. > :36:08.panning out, be time for could actually decide medals. Now it is

:36:09. > :36:21.the turn of the European champion from 2009, Kevin Stout. Just one

:36:22. > :36:32.time Ford at the moment. -- time fault.

:36:33. > :36:47.France only bring forward the score of one time fault from yesterday's

:36:48. > :36:56.round. This is where Kevin Stoute could put France in the box seat.

:36:57. > :37:08.The tall, elegant style of Kevin Stoute, really suits these big

:37:09. > :37:12.arenas. Just seen one extraordinary brilliant round from Tiffany Foster.

:37:13. > :37:18.Kevin Stoute still clear at the moment. A little time check as he

:37:19. > :37:23.comes round the corner into the last fence, rattled part of the

:37:24. > :37:29.combination. But he is quick. Galloping to the last. I think he

:37:30. > :37:33.might have done it. He has. He has given us our second double clear.

:37:34. > :37:41.And it is France, pushing their way to gold. The only thing these riders

:37:42. > :37:45.can do now is take the course by the scruff of the neck. Two riders on

:37:46. > :37:54.the bounce jumping clear inside the time. And now, France. And it is the

:37:55. > :38:05.most experienced rider, 50 years old, just one time Ford yesterday

:38:06. > :38:10.Rogers Yves-Bost. If you are new to show-jumping, keep your eye on this

:38:11. > :38:14.man. He has the most unique, incredible style. Sometimes looks

:38:15. > :38:20.like he is going to fall off, his legs and hands go everywhere, but

:38:21. > :38:21.the horses jump for him, and he has been supremely effective over the

:38:22. > :38:41.years. She is a real fighter, this mare.

:38:42. > :38:57.Both of them will give absolutely everything. Riding for his life, he

:38:58. > :39:11.has nailed that one. Now, the big nomination. He picks her up, he is

:39:12. > :39:15.fighting. He is still there. It is not a pretty round but he's still

:39:16. > :39:25.clear. It is going to be over the time. Come on! What a fighting

:39:26. > :39:32.round. There is Kevin Stoute jumping up and down. The French are on a

:39:33. > :39:41.charge, they really are. You watched him jumping that last fence, I think

:39:42. > :39:48.he jump it on his own! And now, McLain Ward for the night -- United

:39:49. > :39:53.States of America. Just one time fault from Kent Farrington, and one

:39:54. > :39:57.fence down by Lucy Davis. They have got to count those schools. They are

:39:58. > :40:10.already on five, and whatever this man does, will depend on where that

:40:11. > :40:16.score goes next. Extraordinary, the power and scope of this horse. He's

:40:17. > :40:24.holding for six strikes, and lots of riders have put seven in there. One

:40:25. > :40:27.thing that McLain Ward is doing is eating up the ground with the big

:40:28. > :40:43.stride. He is really going for the clear. Massive power this horse has

:40:44. > :40:48.got. Quite incredible. He really gallops into the combination. He

:40:49. > :40:53.will have a little time check as he comes up over the water tray. He's

:40:54. > :40:59.going to be well inside the time. This has got clear round written all

:41:00. > :41:07.over it. Is he going to do it? He has. He has done it in 79.8 seconds.

:41:08. > :41:19.And it is our third double clear round, and America are now back in

:41:20. > :41:28.the game. Now, riding first Class, Germany fighting to stay in it.

:41:29. > :41:42.This, to go clear. The best that they can finish on is for. That may

:41:43. > :41:46.or may not be good enough. So this is a big pressure round for Daniel

:41:47. > :41:55.Deusser. This is a horse that has got a very big engine. Actually,

:41:56. > :42:00.already, the French a run possible score of three. They can improve

:42:01. > :42:12.that by one, but actually, the Germans can't beat the French.

:42:13. > :42:22.Daniel is clear at the moment. Trying to keep this very big horse

:42:23. > :42:28.together and in balance. You can see, he is a huge horse, eating up

:42:29. > :42:34.the ground. He's got to stay careful in the middle of this combination.

:42:35. > :42:40.That was the fence that he had feared for him. That is another very

:42:41. > :42:45.expensive one. The Germans not going clear today. The Americans have

:42:46. > :42:51.beaten the Germans, whatever happens now. They are going to have to score

:42:52. > :42:57.at least eight. And that puts them down in a bronze medal position.

:42:58. > :43:02.Before the day started, the Germans just looked invincible. And none of

:43:03. > :43:16.their riders, so far, have jumped clear. She jumped clear in the first

:43:17. > :43:24.round. Amy Millar, they will want to drop that 12. This man going for a

:43:25. > :43:29.clear round. And a score of four in this round, four on the overnight,

:43:30. > :43:40.that could get them a bronze medal. It could.

:43:41. > :43:45.Eric, attacking the course as he always does. You could see the same

:43:46. > :43:48.style of riding from the other Canadians. They have jumped

:43:49. > :44:03.brilliantly today. Another interesting thing to look at and

:44:04. > :44:11.that is Leprovost was not jumping today. She fell on the first day and

:44:12. > :44:16.did not get that score, so she's out of the individual, so no need for

:44:17. > :44:23.her to jump. Back to Eric Lamaze. He's working hard. He has a very

:44:24. > :44:29.fast time coming into the last. Another double clear from this

:44:30. > :44:36.magician. He really has kept this Canadian score alive. They finish on

:44:37. > :44:42.eight. It is now a situation for Germany, if Ludger Beerbaum goes

:44:43. > :44:48.clear, Germany will finish on eight, there will be a potential jump off

:44:49. > :44:52.for a bronze medal. He's the only German rider who has not jumped a

:44:53. > :45:15.clear round yet. If ever a man needs a clear, it is now.

:45:16. > :45:26.He picked his horse up there, he was not going to touch the planks. He

:45:27. > :45:41.just goes a bit untidy around the corners, but he is very scopy.

:45:42. > :45:49.Ludger Beerbaum opening the stride up, he will have to use all of his

:45:50. > :45:55.strength. Even a time fault would lose the bronze medal. Just turn

:45:56. > :46:03.into it and go for it. His time is good. He has got the stride, what a

:46:04. > :46:13.round. Inside the time as well. It will be a jump off, between Canada

:46:14. > :46:17.and Germany for the bronze medal. The gold medal goes to France. It is

:46:18. > :46:38.silver for the knighted States of America. The jumpoff is coming up.

:46:39. > :46:51.What an angle she is coming in on there, Amy Millar.

:46:52. > :47:02.The riders are throwing all caution to the wind. The Germans have got

:47:03. > :47:13.one fence advantage, the first one went down. There is another one for

:47:14. > :47:24.Canada. It is advantage Germany. A good time. She did not have any

:47:25. > :47:36.choice, she had to go for it. It is definitely advantage Germany. Could

:47:37. > :47:40.they clinch it with this rider? Two clear rounds for Germany, this their

:47:41. > :47:47.third rider. Canada have already had three riders round. The best they

:47:48. > :47:57.could do is four faults. If they can get a clear round. If he has a fence

:47:58. > :48:04.down, there is an injustice battle between the last two riders. --

:48:05. > :48:12.interesting battle. He will disregard the fact that they have

:48:13. > :48:23.the clears and go for the time. It is not the easiest course -- horse

:48:24. > :48:28.to go fast on, slow in his movement. Just a bit steady around. But if he

:48:29. > :48:38.jumps clear, that is what will count. If he does, the Germans have

:48:39. > :48:49.one bronze. Just has to jump the next two fences. No need to rush. A

:48:50. > :48:54.bit available you one. He is a mile off it. The sales over it. Germany

:48:55. > :49:04.take the bronze medal. Dramatic events. There were two

:49:05. > :49:09.British competitors, Ben Maher and Nick Skelton. They were riding in

:49:10. > :49:14.the individual, trying to qualify for the final. The scores will be

:49:15. > :49:20.reset to zero in the individual bound, the top 35 riders going

:49:21. > :49:26.through, and both Ben Maher and Nick Skelton have made it. Nick in his

:49:27. > :49:31.seventh Olympics at the age of 58, so congratulations to both. Michael

:49:32. > :49:36.Whitaker was qualified to go through today, but he had to withdraw after

:49:37. > :49:39.his stallion was taken to the vet with a suspected colic. An

:49:40. > :49:44.unfortunate end for Michael Whitaker's chances. That is the

:49:45. > :49:48.first time for 40 years that the French have one that got medal, a

:49:49. > :49:55.great Olympics for them, having won the three-day event as well. Well

:49:56. > :50:00.done to them. We are going out onto the BMX track. We have been on the

:50:01. > :50:10.road, in the velodrome, and now we are heading into the heresy and's

:50:11. > :50:15.heron care world of BMX. You are going to love this. It is one of the

:50:16. > :50:19.great sites when we get to the man on man jostling for position. Before

:50:20. > :50:24.we do that, we have to get into the seeding ground. We will see that

:50:25. > :50:25.shortly after we hear from one of Great Britain's riders, Liam

:50:26. > :50:38.Phillips. We are here to meet Liam Phillips,

:50:39. > :50:42.one of the big hopes for a gong. Rather than just have a straight

:50:43. > :50:49.chat, we thought, let's make it more interesting.

:50:50. > :51:08.What is going on? Would you like to see what I have got?

:51:09. > :51:17.Nice to meet you! Not bad! I are not sure about the Olympics! Maybe

:51:18. > :51:22.Tokyo! Surely nobody has gone that fast with the shoes before! People

:51:23. > :51:26.have a perception of your sport that it is for the cool kids, those who

:51:27. > :51:30.want to eat burgers and hang out while everybody else is doing the

:51:31. > :51:34.serious business, but you put every bit of effort in that Jessica

:51:35. > :51:39.Ennis-Hill and Mo Farah do to make sure you are ready. BMX athletes are

:51:40. > :51:45.the most powerful athlete on the planet in terms of cycling. Eat

:51:46. > :51:49.that, Bradley Wiggins! The first 2.5 seconds of the race is the most

:51:50. > :51:55.important, we go from zero to 65 kilometres per hour, over 200 rpm.

:51:56. > :52:00.The guys involved with cycling, they will think I am making those numbers

:52:01. > :52:03.up, cos they are at the top end of what is achievable. I was hitting a

:52:04. > :52:17.view of those numbers! Close! I am taking this all in my stride.

:52:18. > :52:21.Most of the athletes we speak to, the one thing that concerns them is

:52:22. > :52:25.injury. You have that to content with and the fact your sport is a

:52:26. > :52:30.lottery. I have raced for such a long time, it is part and parcel of

:52:31. > :52:38.it. I broke my collarbone in December. It is not the be all and

:52:39. > :52:43.end all. I say it was just another broken collarbone, but it is part of

:52:44. > :52:47.the sport. You strike me as laid-back, you take everything that

:52:48. > :52:52.is thrown at you in your stride, how do you approach an Olympic year? It

:52:53. > :52:55.is easier said than done. I have said numerous times, it is just

:52:56. > :53:01.another year, but the difficulty with an Olympic year is, that is the

:53:02. > :53:07.last race of the season. With the sport that I do, injuries are always

:53:08. > :53:22.a big factor. I wanted to get to this stage and go to the Olympics in

:53:23. > :53:23.one piece. That is something I could not do in London. That taught me a

:53:24. > :53:28.lot about the Olympics as a whole. I feel I are many different place

:53:29. > :53:32.going into this Olympics. If I go there and perform well, I enjoy what

:53:33. > :53:41.I am doing and I ride my bike like I know I can, I should be successful.

:53:42. > :53:46.He is going at 7:20pm your time, on the BBC sport website and on the

:53:47. > :53:52.app. We will pick up the qualification of the women's event,

:53:53. > :53:55.it has just been completed, the Australians have a favourite,

:53:56. > :53:58.Caroline Buchanan, and look out for the National heroine in her native

:53:59. > :54:02.Colombia, the reigning champion here.

:54:03. > :54:11.Caroline Buchanan, this year's world time trial champion. She is the one

:54:12. > :54:17.they are all going to be looking at in this particular discipline, in

:54:18. > :54:21.this time trial effort. Really aggressive, attacking the jumps,

:54:22. > :54:26.looking super-smooth. One of the best hopes for cycling success for

:54:27. > :54:30.Australia coming into these Olympics, never mind the current

:54:31. > :54:35.situation, with so many Aussies underperforming on two wheels. She

:54:36. > :54:43.has gone from fifth place into first. The world champion shows her

:54:44. > :54:53.class there and makes a good start to her Olympic campaign. That was a

:54:54. > :54:56.very technically impressive ride. That will give her confidence,

:54:57. > :55:06.regardless of what happens from here. She is one of the big stars.

:55:07. > :55:11.Definitely one of the favourites for the gold medal. The Colombian fans

:55:12. > :55:26.are making a noise now. She seems to deal with pressure so

:55:27. > :55:29.well. The home favourite in the World Championships, she brushed

:55:30. > :55:31.attention aside and won the race with apparent ease. Let's see what

:55:32. > :55:48.she can do. Away goes the world champion, the

:55:49. > :55:55.last rider off in the time trial, and the Colombian fans in the crowd

:55:56. > :55:57.are screaming themselves hoarse. She cleared the triples with ease.

:55:58. > :56:04.Storming through, quickest time so far. Super-smooth. The sort of start

:56:05. > :56:14.we were expecting to see from the world champion. Can she carry it on?

:56:15. > :56:20.Looking like she is in a class of her own, so impressive. Smooth,

:56:21. > :56:27.quick, stylish, fastest. Mariana Pajon of Colombia. There you go,

:56:28. > :56:30.world champion steps up and performs on the biggest stage, really

:56:31. > :56:36.impressive. There were rumours from the American head coach that she

:56:37. > :56:41.might have a cold or be slightly under the weather, but there are no

:56:42. > :56:48.signs of it. Super impressive. Just watching the time trial, as we see

:56:49. > :56:53.Mariana Pajon again, it was a BMX masterclass from her in terms of the

:56:54. > :56:57.way she attacked the track, but two or three of the riders looked better

:56:58. > :57:01.than the rest of the field, even when they were riding on their own.

:57:02. > :57:04.You would not need to look at the stopwatch to see which of the riders

:57:05. > :57:08.will be the favourites going into this competition. Mariana Pajon

:57:09. > :57:13.seemed to be head and shoulders above the rest, only 0.2 seconds,

:57:14. > :57:17.but the Canon looking strong as well. It is hard to look past

:57:18. > :57:20.Mariana Pajon for the gol medal at this stage.

:57:21. > :57:28.Mariana Pajon is the top speed's top seed. The argy-bargy will get under

:57:29. > :57:40.way tomorrow. Shall we do some headlines before I say my goodbyes?

:57:41. > :57:43.Mo Farah remains in the hunt for a fourth Olympic gold medal, he

:57:44. > :57:46.survived another trip to make it through to the 5000 metres final on

:57:47. > :57:51.Saturday, aiming to complete the double-double. There was more good

:57:52. > :57:55.news for Great Britain on the track, Lynsey Sharp went out strong again,

:57:56. > :58:02.claiming an impressive victory in her 800 metres heats, joined by

:58:03. > :58:06.Shelayna Oskan-Clarke. Britain's last remaining hope in the badminton

:58:07. > :58:13.singles out, come to be beaten in the end by an impressive Danish

:58:14. > :58:18.player, but fantastic progress. London 2012 bronze medallist Liam

:58:19. > :58:22.Heath and Jon Schofield on course for another medal after they booked

:58:23. > :58:28.their place in the men's kayak doubles sprint final. And, Brazil

:58:29. > :58:32.will have the chance to finally get their hands on an Olympic football

:58:33. > :58:37.gold medal after their men's team have thumped Honduras 6-0 in the

:58:38. > :58:47.semifinals. They will play either Nigeria or Germany in Saturday's

:58:48. > :58:53.final. Neymar scored twice, he sealed it with a penalty at the end,

:58:54. > :58:59.so hurray for everybody in Brazil. If you are staying up to watch the

:59:00. > :59:02.beach for it, enjoy it, I will catch you fresh tomorrow. Goodbye.
