:00:00. > :00:00.had the onside, Cheick Sallah Cisse. He was up against a German in the

:00:00. > :00:08.quarterfinals and if you remember the World Cup from 2004, the Germans

:00:09. > :00:12.did well against the resilience. They decided to back an Ivory Coast

:00:13. > :00:17.fighter. It will be interesting to see how the crowd reacts and Cheick

:00:18. > :00:31.Sallah Cisse is the world number three. He would go into the final as

:00:32. > :00:37.If you have been out all day and had only just arrived back, I need to

:00:38. > :00:40.tell you it has been a historic day for British's women's sport. --

:00:41. > :00:55.British women's sport. Helen Richardson Walsh waiting in

:00:56. > :01:01.the centre of the circle. Off the legs!

:01:02. > :01:20.The Dutch are inside the circle. The angle, goal! Cullen has scored!

:01:21. > :01:33.Great Britain are level! A penalty shootout... The Golden goal! Great

:01:34. > :01:45.Britain have won the Olympic gold-medal! A first-ever gold medal

:01:46. > :01:51.for Britain's female hockey players. Amazing scenes. There was not a

:01:52. > :02:00.single penalty gotten past Maddie Lynch. Usually when we go to are

:02:01. > :02:08.penalty shootout is think," oh, no. But not with Maddie Hinch in goal.

:02:09. > :02:15.-- Madeline Hinch. Leigh you have gold-medal around your neck. Give us

:02:16. > :02:20.an idea of the feeling of that. I do know whether to laugh or cry. It's

:02:21. > :02:25.just surreal. It's believable because of us and our culture and

:02:26. > :02:29.our team spirit and the respect for each other that we have will stop

:02:30. > :02:35.its wonderful to be able to share it with everyone else because we know

:02:36. > :02:38.what we've got --. We know how special it is now everyone else can

:02:39. > :02:43.see that and that is what is so wonderful about sport. The battles

:02:44. > :02:47.that you have all had to go through, not just on the pitch but off as

:02:48. > :02:51.well. Is it possible to explain to people at home the sacrifices you

:02:52. > :02:57.will have to make? Know. Probably not. It's difficult to put into

:02:58. > :03:01.words what this means. Struggling to believe it at the moment. 17 years

:03:02. > :03:10.ago when I started my career, we were so far of this. -- off. It has

:03:11. > :03:16.just grown and grown over these last eight years or so. We have got an

:03:17. > :03:23.incredible group of players, staff, we had the belief and this just

:03:24. > :03:27.means everything, absolutely everything to get this goal. Just

:03:28. > :03:32.before I speak to Kate, I want to ask how special it is to play a long

:03:33. > :03:44.your gold-medal team alongside your wife. To get one of these but to

:03:45. > :03:52.share it with one of these with someone like her is amazing. Just to

:03:53. > :03:57.see Helen to go through double back surgery, maybe never play hockey

:03:58. > :04:04.again, the strength she has shown has resonated throughout the squad.

:04:05. > :04:15.Just so assured. I felt like more the crowd booed, the more she was

:04:16. > :04:21.going to step up to show them. When we speak to people around the squad,

:04:22. > :04:28.people have watched this around the years, it comes from the captain,

:04:29. > :04:34.the one who set the standard. It goes through everybody who touches

:04:35. > :04:38.the squad, they all have it. It's infectious. Two years ago, we went

:04:39. > :04:40.through some difficult times in the squad and we pulled together and

:04:41. > :04:45.said that we wanted to be the difference and inspired that it

:04:46. > :04:53.future. We have done that tonight. The legacy of what is going to be

:04:54. > :04:58.left behind after this night, the legacy of amazing hockey. What is

:04:59. > :05:02.the legacy? For young girls and young boys, especially women, go out

:05:03. > :05:08.and do what you want to do. If you want to be a teacher, a caretaker,

:05:09. > :05:11.hairdresser, whatever you want to be, set your sights high and both

:05:12. > :05:16.the life. We have just shown that if you go and do that, it comes true.

:05:17. > :05:23.Weller we have hunted you down for a number of years, Kate, asking, "It

:05:24. > :05:26.is your last tournament, Kate?" I'm going to ask the question for one

:05:27. > :05:31.last time just for confirmation. Is this really it?

:05:32. > :05:46.100%. I'm going to retire. I think it's a good way to go out. There is

:05:47. > :05:50.not a better way to sum it up. From all of us, it has been a magnificent

:05:51. > :05:54.journey to follow you and watch you. We wish you the very best of luck in

:05:55. > :06:07.retirement. We are so proud. Thank you. 375th international cap. She

:06:08. > :06:13.has to go down as one of the greatest sportswomen ever. They are

:06:14. > :06:21.team players. Hockey history. For Helen and Kate, the first married

:06:22. > :06:24.couple to win a gold medal for England than back in sailing. For

:06:25. > :06:27.the whole team, they came here believing that they could do it. It

:06:28. > :06:32.is just extraordinary to watch them doing it, to have such composure and

:06:33. > :06:37.confidence. That will be one of my moments of Rio. That and Nick

:06:38. > :06:43.Skelton today. Every day I can't think it's getting better but it is!

:06:44. > :06:52.To you needed tissue? You need me to go there with you? I'm just

:06:53. > :06:56.thrilled. I'm all right. Go and have a glass of something cold. Every day

:06:57. > :07:00.it feels like there are landmark moments for British sport and

:07:01. > :07:06.history is being made and the stories behind the stories make us

:07:07. > :07:11.all emotional. Virtually every day. Tomorrow, we will have Nicola Adams

:07:12. > :07:15.going for gold in the boxing. That will be around six o'clock. Aside

:07:16. > :07:17.from Nicola Adams, the only British boxer who is still going is Joe

:07:18. > :07:29.Joyce. Here's the men's superheavyweight

:07:30. > :07:34.and he was up against it today. Ivanovic go in the semifinals. He

:07:35. > :07:37.didn't get off to the best start, losing to the silver-medallist. We

:07:38. > :07:56.would join the contest at the start of the second. But gold-medallist

:07:57. > :08:02.awaits him. He has beaten both of these men in recent times. Joe Joyce

:08:03. > :08:10.getting onto the front foot and beginning to close the gap on his

:08:11. > :08:16.man. Straightaway Joe Joyce gets him. He will try and grab Ivan

:08:17. > :08:24.Dychko. We know what he is about. He is starting to tire now, Ivan

:08:25. > :08:28.Dychko. Joe Joyce is beginning to get closer. Can he begin to make

:08:29. > :08:31.that investment in body shots that will plague dividends as the contest

:08:32. > :08:52.progresses? -- paid dividends. Ivan Dychko began breathing through

:08:53. > :08:56.an open mouth moments ago. Joe Joyce looking to unload heavy artillery to

:08:57. > :09:03.the man in blue. A good right-hand over the top. I think the man in

:09:04. > :09:19.blue is hurt. A grimace. I think he is suffering here.

:09:20. > :09:27.When Joyce gets you in that position, look and end the manner in

:09:28. > :09:36.the way he can turn and sync is hooked in his opponent.

:09:37. > :09:47.It will help rapidly deplete the energy of your opponent. Ditch coat

:09:48. > :10:04.is flat-footed now. -- Ivan Dychko. Have to find the room and space.

:10:05. > :10:18.Better from Joyce. The movement of Ivan Dychko visibly slowing. Ivan

:10:19. > :10:22.Dychko, his movement, slowing to batter the glazier as Joe Joyce

:10:23. > :10:27.continues to walk him down and unload punchers from both the left

:10:28. > :10:28.and the right flank to the long, lean torso of the world ranked

:10:29. > :11:08.number one. Joe Joyce has responded brilliantly.

:11:09. > :11:18.He is walking down his man and trying to target the head and body

:11:19. > :11:23.is an go. -- Ivan Dychko. It will be at torrid three minutes for Ivan

:11:24. > :11:29.Dychko. He keeps walking on to shots. Here comes Joe Joyce again.

:11:30. > :11:34.He is wilting down to the canvas. He can barely hold his boxing stands,

:11:35. > :11:37.the reigning world champion. He is beginning to mount up. Joe Joyce

:11:38. > :11:52.swinging for the senses. This is what he has got to do. Keep

:11:53. > :11:58.throwing shots, keep going forward. He is doing the right things but he

:11:59. > :12:06.has got to keep it going. He has got to work here. Ivan Dychko, the world

:12:07. > :12:17.champion, looking to mount a rally. He is a very proud individual.

:12:18. > :12:30.To refit work to the body once again from Joe Joyce.

:12:31. > :12:42.Ivan Dychko is exhausted. The body shots are hurting him.

:12:43. > :12:51.Ivan Dychko is seemingly running on fumes. He still has two punch out

:12:52. > :13:07.shots that will keep Joe Joyce at bay. But Joe Joyce is winding up.

:13:08. > :13:24.Another one. Ivan Dychko like a tall tree that is ready to fall down

:13:25. > :13:31.after being shot to buy the body. -- by. Marching his man backwards with

:13:32. > :13:36.a heavy assault. Still Ivan Dychko stands.

:13:37. > :13:52.he has two show the judges that he is in control. Ivan Dychko trying to

:13:53. > :14:00.fight back. Can he find a couple of quality shots? Terrific performance

:14:01. > :14:06.from Joe Joyce! He raises his arms immediately. The celebration. Great

:14:07. > :14:11.Britain's Joe Joyce who conceded the opening round unanimously, responded

:14:12. > :14:15.valiantly in round number two to take that round from all three

:14:16. > :14:19.judges and sustain his assault throughout round number three.

:14:20. > :14:24.Surely, surely Great Britain's Joe Joyce will go through to the Olympic

:14:25. > :14:37.old medal bout and look to emulate the accomplishments. He fought toe

:14:38. > :14:42.to toe. Joe Joyce, tremendous stuff. The body language at the end, it was

:14:43. > :14:54.Joyce, he was on that front foot. It was better.

:14:55. > :15:11.ANNOUNCER: The winner by a unanimous decision in the red corner, Great

:15:12. > :15:20.Britain's Joe Joyce. Is through to the gold-medal bout. Terrific! Over

:15:21. > :15:24.the reigning two-time World Championship silver-medallist Ivan

:15:25. > :15:27.Dychko. He started slowly, he had trouble with the movements in the

:15:28. > :15:32.opening round but he would not be denied. He continued to target the

:15:33. > :15:32.body and he is through to contest Olympic gold in the superheavyweight

:15:33. > :15:39.division. (CHEERING AND

:15:40. > :15:55.APPLAUSE). He will square off against his

:15:56. > :16:46.familiar rival Tony Yoka of France. Jo warmed up in the first round, it

:16:47. > :16:50.is a mental game, boxing, he figured him out, second round he closed down

:16:51. > :16:55.the gap, worked into the body. That takes your breath away. As you work

:16:56. > :17:00.into the body, Dychko starts slowing down. He cannot throw the jab like

:17:01. > :17:04.he was in the first round, and so to secure the fight, he did what he has

:17:05. > :17:08.done in the second round, throws the distance, put more pressure, and

:17:09. > :17:13.Dychko will soon fade, and that is what he has done, and I really happy

:17:14. > :17:18.with that. And you are in Olympic final. One step closer to gold.

:17:19. > :17:25.Don't worry about gold, just keep on winning. Keep it simple, yeah. I am

:17:26. > :17:34.happy for him, I have seen Joe from grassroots come up, and now he is

:17:35. > :17:43.hearing Rio, he is doing Capoiera in the ring. Staying hungry, staying

:17:44. > :17:54.humble. And Joe's gold-medal match will be against Tony Yoka of France,

:17:55. > :18:00.he beat the Croatian boxer to win his place. Look about for a shot.

:18:01. > :18:07.And the final will be at 715 on Sunday evening. I saw a statistic on

:18:08. > :18:11.Twitter not too long ago that said after the women in the hockey,

:18:12. > :18:15.Britain has now won gold medals in 14 different sports at this

:18:16. > :18:22.Olympics. No other country has managed more than ten. I have no

:18:23. > :18:27.idea whether that is right, but a -- I saw that. We have had so many

:18:28. > :18:32.great gold-medal moments, and all week we have been saying, don't be

:18:33. > :18:37.surprised by Team GB, they have been absolutely phenomenal. They'd did

:18:38. > :18:43.well in London, and what they have done is incredible. Unbeaten. Thank

:18:44. > :18:45.you very much. We have a lot of live sport right across the limp against

:18:46. > :18:50.this evening, we will have some wrestling and some boxing later,

:18:51. > :18:56.don't go anywhere, last we had Jade Jones winning a gold medal, and it

:18:57. > :19:01.is all eyes on the track once again, and Usain Bolt. That is our plan,

:19:02. > :19:54.and I love it when the plan comes together.

:19:55. > :20:12.(LAUGHS). Phil Jones has just seen it. That is his bashful face. You

:20:13. > :20:20.see a lot of people only seeing Phil Jones' hand. He has a gorgeous face.

:20:21. > :20:25.He is definitely, definitely a key member of the 18. Welcome to the

:20:26. > :20:29.athletics come and we have a great night in store this evening. Of

:20:30. > :20:33.course it is all about the relays, it is about distant in the 500

:20:34. > :20:36.metres, it is about the hammer and the pole vault, and as Michael

:20:37. > :20:52.Johnson would say, it is about getting the bat on around. But on.

:20:53. > :20:56.-- baton. And that is what his teammates have to do for him

:20:57. > :21:02.tonight. This will be fun. Athletes love the relays. It is not as much

:21:03. > :21:04.pressure, you get a chance in the individual sport as an individual

:21:05. > :21:07.athlete to work together as a team, it will be a lot of fun. What we

:21:08. > :21:14.have seen over the years is the Great Britain team, the USA team,

:21:15. > :21:18.not getting the baton around. Running out of the zone, dropping

:21:19. > :21:22.it, all sorts of things. It is difficult. It is fun to watch a and

:21:23. > :21:30.I would really like to see them all get around, and have a competitive

:21:31. > :21:35.race down the home stretch and give them a run for their money tonight.

:21:36. > :21:39.The British relay squad have been really strong in the last couple of

:21:40. > :21:43.years, they set a new personal best at the anniversary games, they look

:21:44. > :21:48.very good in qualifying. I have, and it is important to them, they are so

:21:49. > :21:53.tight as a unit come and they really work well together, tonight is the

:21:54. > :21:57.time when they can really come of age, because I believe they can get

:21:58. > :22:02.a medal, and they ought to get a medal, providing they take a bit of

:22:03. > :22:08.a risk, that is what they need to do tonight at two secure a medal. When

:22:09. > :22:25.I say personal-best I mean national record, and the four ladies are... I

:22:26. > :22:32.think they know each other very well, that is the most important

:22:33. > :22:38.thing. They have a sense of comfort with each other. That ill that team

:22:39. > :22:41.spirit which is necessary for them. The other thing you'll have to out

:22:42. > :22:46.for is Germany, Germany works together as a team, they are very

:22:47. > :22:51.well drilled, and they will have a problem. It will be tight but it is

:22:52. > :22:55.exciting. For the men they did not have the fastest qualification, they

:22:56. > :22:58.have lain one which is where the US women are, because of a fandango

:22:59. > :23:12.that went on with their qualifications. But the men are...

:23:13. > :23:15.You never know what decisions are made by coach in terms of those

:23:16. > :23:19.personnel. What will happen is that the coaches will make those

:23:20. > :23:22.decisions based on things that have happened earlier in the year, things

:23:23. > :23:27.they have seen in the camps. But what has taken place here in these

:23:28. > :23:33.championships, who knows why the coach made those decisions. That

:23:34. > :23:39.team always worries me, they always does seem a little bit young and not

:23:40. > :23:43.very mature, and just not that cohesive. It always seem like they

:23:44. > :23:48.are a little bit rattled, and that is what happens, that is when you

:23:49. > :23:54.drop the baton, when you have people who are a little bit rattled and not

:23:55. > :24:00.so cohesive, and when I look at the women's team, I see a little bit

:24:01. > :24:04.more settled, comfort, like you say, a little more confident. In the heat

:24:05. > :24:10.of battle, this is no doubt the heat of battle. There is lots of activity

:24:11. > :24:14.going on around you, and just in raw terms, it is one person running in

:24:15. > :24:18.as fast as they possibly can and another person running out as fast

:24:19. > :24:23.as they can, the person in front cannot see the person in the back,

:24:24. > :24:26.and you are trying to exchange the baton. At full speed. That is very

:24:27. > :24:30.difficult to do, and while there is a much going on around you, and

:24:31. > :24:34.within a certain zone. That is very difficult to do. Typically what

:24:35. > :24:38.happens is when teams drop the baton, it is not because they do

:24:39. > :24:42.not... It is because they do not get the balance right and have no plan

:24:43. > :24:47.B. They plan for perfect handouts which is round, it rarely happens

:24:48. > :24:52.the first time. Teams in practice and off when it goes wrong, what we

:24:53. > :25:00.next. You think there has to be trust, there has to be trust. That

:25:01. > :25:05.is why CJ has been left out of the team. I don't think he ran a good

:25:06. > :25:09.final leg. I have seen him run better, and he had that incident

:25:10. > :25:14.last year with himself and James Ellington on the third leg. That

:25:15. > :25:21.might be summing to do with it. There are some people that coaches

:25:22. > :25:24.and athletes just go, God, I don't want that person on the relay team.

:25:25. > :25:28.Just because they are not good relay runners. They do not perform well

:25:29. > :25:33.under that sort of pressure. They may perform brilliantly as an

:25:34. > :25:38.individual, but when they have to work with and exchange the baton,

:25:39. > :25:41.some people are not capable of doing that, and coaches will decide to

:25:42. > :25:51.leave that person for that reason. And there is Usain Bolt Houli part

:25:52. > :25:59.of the Jamaican four x 100 team, he will bring the baton home for them.

:26:00. > :26:07.Andre De Grasse, the gold-medallist,... Joy for the

:26:08. > :26:12.Frenchman, at a guinea when he found out and looked up at the screen and

:26:13. > :26:17.saw that he was just... You cannot even begin to imagine what that

:26:18. > :26:24.feels like, I am sure he will pick himself up and be in that relay

:26:25. > :26:27.squad tonight. Usain Bolt, he gets used to this, walking out to a medal

:26:28. > :26:32.ceremony. Athletes are not always have to compete on the same night as

:26:33. > :26:37.a medal ceremony, do they? Sometimes you do, they make the schedule for

:26:38. > :26:40.the running event first, and then they figure out where are we going

:26:41. > :26:46.to plug in another medal ceremony, so that they maximise people like

:26:47. > :26:52.Usain Bolt, who get here early, so you can see him, they are so

:26:53. > :26:58.strategic in how they do that. He will be fine in the relay. One thing

:26:59. > :27:01.that he might have looked at this is having to be their weight earlier

:27:02. > :27:06.than he wants to because he has two go to the medal ceremony. He is here

:27:07. > :27:12.at the track to run in the relay anyway, so you may as well... If he

:27:13. > :27:26.has sometime on his hands he can come up here and us company. It will

:27:27. > :27:36.be an interesting relay. We will cut more about the relay, although there

:27:37. > :27:43.is the 4x4 100 as well. -- 400. He seems to be absorbing it, doesn't

:27:44. > :27:49.he. The last time that we are told he will contest the 200 metres in a

:27:50. > :27:54.major championships. Sir Philip Craven presenting the medal, he will

:27:55. > :28:00.be getting himself and all of his team ready for the Paralympic games

:28:01. > :28:09.to follow year in Rio, -- to follow here. LeMaitre, I am sure there are

:28:10. > :28:16.a lot of European spin fans who will be quite pleased on the half of

:28:17. > :28:26.LeMaitre. A nice man, returning to form just at the right time. When

:28:27. > :28:33.Usain Bolt does leave the stage, this is one of the contenders to

:28:34. > :28:39.take over his mental at this distance, Andre DeGrasse, showed in

:28:40. > :28:42.the semifinals perhaps what real potential he has, not so much in the

:28:43. > :28:49.final, just outside 20 seconds. A silver medal was probably the thing

:28:50. > :28:52.he was aiming for, he talked about giving Usain Bolt a run for his

:28:53. > :29:00.money but it was never really likely. The Canadian 21-year-old

:29:01. > :29:08.performing very well indeed. He has won bronze medal so far in the 100

:29:09. > :29:21.as well, and a silver in the 200. So, the eighth time, Mr Usain Bolt

:29:22. > :29:24.steps onto the top of the rostrum. Gold in the 200 metres to the third

:29:25. > :29:42.time. Huge, huge reception to him here at

:29:43. > :29:50.the stadium, it is not full here tonight, but they are witnessing an

:29:51. > :29:58.historic moment. I am just wondering whether there is a little whimsical

:29:59. > :30:02.look on the face of Usain Bolt, we have never seen him too emotional on

:30:03. > :30:08.the rostrum, but I just wonder whether tonight you might see it.

:30:09. > :31:12.Passport is about gold medals but it is also about statistics. In all of

:31:13. > :31:20.his winning 200 metre times in World Championships and prolific games,

:31:21. > :31:22.his fastest time was 19.4 zero. Last night was his slowest ever winning

:31:23. > :31:47.time, 19.70 eight. -- 19.40. Lets remember how he got to a great

:31:48. > :31:56.age. -- --8. COMMENTATOR: A new world record! Away they go, Usain

:31:57. > :32:08.Bolt already going past. Blasting around. Gold for Usain Bolt! A new

:32:09. > :32:13.world record! I do not believe it. Usain Bolt has it in his hand safely

:32:14. > :32:16.and is the bend. It is Jamaica. One more chaste ago. It's a new world

:32:17. > :32:34.record! Three gold medals! Bolt is getting into his stride. It

:32:35. > :32:41.is Usain Bolt. He is pulling away. He is going to win the gold!

:32:42. > :32:50.It is a clean start... Walt is out of the blocks really well. He is

:32:51. > :32:51.already storming around the bend. It is a three metre lead. Bolt is going

:32:52. > :33:03.to do it again! Here he goes. A new world record! He smashes it to

:33:04. > :33:15.pieces. Gatlin leaving it at the moment but

:33:16. > :33:22.here is Usain Bolt and he is go to take it! He takes it! What more does

:33:23. > :33:30.he have for us? He gets away well. Already away from America. It is

:33:31. > :33:37.Usain Bolt on his own. As he has been throughout his career. Usain

:33:38. > :33:42.Bolt running away from everybody! 19.7. It is his gold, his eighth

:33:43. > :33:59.gold. Number one! There we go. The eight gold medals.

:34:00. > :34:04.It will be so weird to see Tokyo 2020 and see a different name. I

:34:05. > :34:09.have kids Inc in that he is the only one that can wind sprints. They know

:34:10. > :34:21.that there are other people capable of taking gold. --I have kids and

:34:22. > :34:28.they think. He has just all the night and brought people from around

:34:29. > :34:36.the ward solely to watch him. -- around the world. It wasn't his

:34:37. > :34:42.quickest last night. He said afterwards that he didn't feel as

:34:43. > :34:46.good down the home stretch. It didn't look as good but it was

:34:47. > :34:49.enough to get the job done. It was all that Usain Bolt would have been

:34:50. > :34:55.worried about. He wanted to put pressure on. He probably didn't

:34:56. > :35:04.expect that there would be another competitor. He just wanted to put

:35:05. > :35:14.pressure on these guys and did that beautifully. It was just enough to

:35:15. > :35:19.be this. I looked at him at this. And. He lay buried a little bit. It

:35:20. > :35:29.was earlier than when IM used to seeing him struggle. -- labouring. A

:35:30. > :35:36.great night for Usain Bolt to win his third title as an Olympic 200

:35:37. > :35:42.metre champion. I know that is something he certainly wanted. To

:35:43. > :35:53.think is a start that was so electric comedy think it had an

:35:54. > :35:57.effect? You are not really affected by anyone else's start. I think Sean

:35:58. > :36:08.always knew that. We talk about Usain Bolt at start. The drive pace

:36:09. > :36:11.is good. The drive pace in 200 metres is more important than the

:36:12. > :36:16.start. You can get a fantastic reaction to the gun but if you can't

:36:17. > :36:20.transition back into a drive pace, to propel you forward, when you are

:36:21. > :36:25.at the vertical lean, it doesn't matter. We are obsessed with the

:36:26. > :36:32.reaction time but if you can't transfer that into power, it doesn't

:36:33. > :36:35.happen. Usain Bolt is very good at transferring that power back into

:36:36. > :36:40.the track, propelling himself forward. If we look at the rest of

:36:41. > :36:45.the race which was actually quite tight, you take Usain Bolt out, had

:36:46. > :36:48.the race being run without Usain Bolt it would have panned out

:36:49. > :36:53.differently. Is there a feeling that he is there so there is a second

:36:54. > :36:56.race going on behind? I think the race would have panned out the same

:36:57. > :37:01.way that what is lost is that because Usain Bolt is so amazing and

:37:02. > :37:05.he won the race, what was lost, not on me, I was always anticipating

:37:06. > :37:16.this was going to be a fantastic race behind Usain Bolt and it was.

:37:17. > :37:21.Think about how close it was. It was a fantastic race to see, those guys

:37:22. > :37:25.knew it was going to be tight. Athletes know what they have in

:37:26. > :37:29.store going into the final based on what happened in the second final. I

:37:30. > :37:33.believe that almost all of them took Usain Bolt out of the race. That's

:37:34. > :37:36.why John Merrick wasn't concerned or affected by the start because they

:37:37. > :38:03.knew the competition was going to be for the silver and bronze. Let's

:38:04. > :38:10.look at Adam Gemili. That is perfect execution. I knew he wasn't happy

:38:11. > :38:15.with it. This is the point he wasn't pleased with. I'd knew he tightened

:38:16. > :38:19.up at the end. The more I look at Adam, he runs a little bit tight in

:38:20. > :38:23.his upper body and that is something he is going to have two work on. He

:38:24. > :38:28.hunches over with his shoulders, he is always that way. That is not the

:38:29. > :38:32.best technique when it comes to the end of the 200 metres so he is going

:38:33. > :38:36.to have to work on that in terms of changing his technique in the upper

:38:37. > :38:41.body and the way that he runs, the way that he strides. That is just

:38:42. > :38:46.the way he runs but it has a negative effect on the end of the

:38:47. > :38:52.race. Does it affect the 200 more than the 100? Absolutely. By the

:38:53. > :38:55.time it affects you in the 100, the race is over. The 200, you are

:38:56. > :39:04.starting to fatigue and the more you are tight ups Des -- the more you

:39:05. > :39:07.are tight at the top, you need more speed. You need to swing to go

:39:08. > :39:10.faster and you get more power but when you are restricted, you are

:39:11. > :39:20.hunched over, you restrict the motion. You aren't able to keep

:39:21. > :39:27.their stride lean as much as you want. It shortened more because of

:39:28. > :39:35.fatigue and you are not able to keep it open. I am going to pose a

:39:36. > :39:40.question. Adam is going to be doing the last leg so that tightness you

:39:41. > :39:45.mentioned, do you think that will have an effect because there is so

:39:46. > :39:51.much tension around him? No. 100 metres, it won't really bother him.

:39:52. > :40:01.It's almost like a double-edged sword. Over the 100 metres, it helps

:40:02. > :40:07.him because he is so wrote Artic, -- robotic. Once you get beyond 100

:40:08. > :40:14.metres, it starts to become a problem. I don't think it will will

:40:15. > :40:19.bother him. Here is another question and you can all answer this. Are we

:40:20. > :40:24.going to see those seven plus another one in seven or are we going

:40:25. > :40:41.to see a whole new rash of sprinters coming through? It is about De

:40:42. > :40:46.Grasse. It is important we start opening our minds about who is going

:40:47. > :40:54.to fill that void. It's going to be difficult but the future of

:40:55. > :40:57.sprinting will go on. If we divide up the next lot, we are going to

:40:58. > :41:14.have an exciting run of world champions. That is the likely

:41:15. > :41:20.scenario going forward. I see the championships trading in and out.

:41:21. > :41:37.Somebody will win, maybe De Grasse, maybe someone else. It will probably

:41:38. > :41:41.be a different one. De Grasse has the edge because he is winning

:41:42. > :41:46.back-to-back championship medals and metal experience has got to play

:41:47. > :41:53.hugely when it goes into major championships and he is still young.

:41:54. > :42:02.-- medal. It is not always gold or silver. Gatlin probably will not

:42:03. > :42:07.retire. You don't think so? Why would he? Remember, he won his

:42:08. > :42:11.fastest time last you. -- he ran. Why would he retire when he is

:42:12. > :42:19.looking at this going Usain Bolt is out of it? "I Can still stay in

:42:20. > :42:29.this." He hasn't had any injuries. He has milage on his body. If you

:42:30. > :42:32.are the world champion silver-medallist last year, you are

:42:33. > :42:38.the Olympics were medallist this year and only silver because of one

:42:39. > :42:50.person who is Usain Bolt, why not continue? Who can possibly begin to

:42:51. > :43:07.predict it. Let's get down onto the track. We are going to be talked

:43:08. > :43:12.through the four x 400 metre relay. On this penultimate evening, we only

:43:13. > :43:20.have the marathon on. In the stadium. Let's hope we negotiate

:43:21. > :43:29.through no problem. The women's polevault final as well. Arguably

:43:30. > :43:37.the most controversial event of these games. The Russian has been

:43:38. > :43:57.banned, the world champion. Yelena. That is exactly how she wanted to

:43:58. > :44:03.start. She is a great major championship competitor. Sixth years

:44:04. > :44:06.ago in London. The perfect start. Just wanted to settle her nerves. It

:44:07. > :44:19.is an Olympic final medal on offer. Down to the other end, the women are

:44:20. > :44:21.just about to start. We have steadily in front, USA, Romania,

:44:22. > :44:39.Netherlands, Brazil and Ukraine. First of three from the two heats

:44:40. > :44:46.and the two fastest losers through to the final.

:44:47. > :44:52.The couple were brought in as reserves. They are the top eight

:44:53. > :45:00.from Beijing last year. The eight fastest other teams.

:45:01. > :45:06.The best of 16 in the world theoretically here.

:45:07. > :45:14.If you have never watched a four x 400 before, it takes three bands.

:45:15. > :45:20.That's why there is a bigger stagger. It is not until the second

:45:21. > :45:31.leg that they break for the inside. United States. Natasha Hastings,

:45:32. > :45:34.maybe Spencer to come in. Ukraine looking strong as well in lane

:45:35. > :45:38.eight. The ankle turning a little bit.

:45:39. > :45:45.It is good to see a initially with the long, long stagger, how it will

:45:46. > :45:52.play out. A good start by Ukraine and so to buy the Netherlands. --

:45:53. > :46:02.by. Are good, strong start to the second

:46:03. > :46:08.leg from Australia from Annelise Ruby. We are so used to seeing this.

:46:09. > :46:13.A big lead for United States at the moment. Are not a good start for the

:46:14. > :46:25.French team who we thought would be a danger. They had a poor first leg.

:46:26. > :46:28.Fading in the dark blue, a long way back at the moment. United States in

:46:29. > :46:35.the lead, going well. Just wanting to make sure they get that buttoned

:46:36. > :46:44.safely now. The Polish quartet has another chance as well. They have

:46:45. > :46:53.their weaker runner with the bat on at the moment.

:46:54. > :47:07.Someone who has run low 50s, McCorory. What a race developing

:47:08. > :47:15.behind her for the other qualifying players. It is Ukraine, Holland,

:47:16. > :47:21.Australia and the Netherlands, now they wait, the last change here.

:47:22. > :47:32.McCorory will give it to Phyllis Francis. Plenty of experience there.

:47:33. > :47:37.The United States clear. A real scrap on here for second and third.

:47:38. > :47:41.France desperately trying to get close, this would be a bit of a

:47:42. > :47:50.surprise if this French 4x4 100 Quartet do not qualify. -- 400. They

:47:51. > :48:00.are currently in sixth. Moving into fourth, fifth place now. The United

:48:01. > :48:06.States and then look at that Lake Claire from, Holland and Australia,

:48:07. > :48:13.surely she has got nothing left. -- Poland. United States are going to

:48:14. > :48:20.win this, Ukraine and then it will be Poland taking the third spot,

:48:21. > :48:26.Australia and then France. That was only around a three point would be

:48:27. > :48:32.which I am really surprised in, they had a terrible start, they had a

:48:33. > :48:38.back loaded team with two did names, but they got off to a poor start,

:48:39. > :48:44.and it is a risk you take in the rounds, so the United States, you

:48:45. > :48:46.would think would be through safely. We just want to have a little look

:48:47. > :49:03.at the first change. I mean, you have to start wondering

:49:04. > :49:11.over there, you would think, why has nobody else done this. That was a

:49:12. > :49:22.handicap start there. You would be very disappointed by France, Ukraine

:49:23. > :49:27.I thought were very strong, they had Zemlyak in the anchor leg. United

:49:28. > :49:30.States, we know they are clear favourites for the gold medal, I am

:49:31. > :49:33.not sure anyone can touch them, but the Jamaicans will give them a much

:49:34. > :49:38.better run for their money than anyone here. But France, this was

:49:39. > :49:43.the strongest Quartet, this was a four who took silver at the European

:49:44. > :49:47.championship, it is that thing of back loading, you are not in

:49:48. > :49:52.position. It will always be difficult to lift yourselves. That

:49:53. > :49:58.is a fairly quick time for the French. Suddenly Poland are in

:49:59. > :50:02.amongst it, a good performance from them, so the United States, Ukraine

:50:03. > :50:12.and Poland, all of those three through, Australia and France have

:50:13. > :50:23.to watch the second semi-final. The American Okolo Morris -- Sandi

:50:24. > :50:29.Morris. The world leader. The jump of 4.90 three. A contender for the

:50:30. > :50:34.title here. Perfect conditions. -- four. 93.

:50:35. > :50:49.The world recordholder and announced her retirement in the last four

:50:50. > :51:02.hours. Sandy Morris, -- Sandi Morris, good start. Silver than,

:51:03. > :51:09.Yarislay Silva of Cuba. A short approach, but an easy clearance.

:51:10. > :51:14.Silva looking good. It is going to be a tight competition is, but we

:51:15. > :51:18.have a Brit involved in Holly Bradshaw, looking good. Silva very

:51:19. > :51:23.good when it matters, a good pressure jumper, and that is going

:51:24. > :51:34.to be something she may need to draw on. Silva, good start.

:51:35. > :51:49.We are well under way on the track, with those relays starting already,

:51:50. > :52:05.the 4x400. The men's hammer is under way, the women's 5000 metres goes at

:52:06. > :52:12.148, at 215 it is the four x 100 metre relays, we will carefully help

:52:13. > :52:20.you navigate your evening through that, and at 2:35am it is the men's

:52:21. > :52:27.four x 100 metre relay. A possible ninth gold for Usain Bolt. Let's get

:52:28. > :52:31.back down to the track, you can see their Emily Diamond, it is the start

:52:32. > :52:38.of the next heat for the women's four x 400 metre relay. When you saw

:52:39. > :52:48.the Great Britain Quartet, in lane two, Jamaica are very strong, they

:52:49. > :52:54.made the final. Germany, Bahamas, it Cuba, Canada as well. India and

:52:55. > :53:13.Italy flanking Great Britain. It is Emily Diamond, Silva, Kelly Massey

:53:14. > :53:22.and Ohuruogu. Emily Diamond leading off Great

:53:23. > :53:34.it is Emily Diamond, Onuora, Kelly Massey and Christine Ohuruogu. She

:53:35. > :53:38.is running very strongly, Emily Diamond. This elongated stager.

:53:39. > :53:44.Christine Day taking to make out. The other world champions, and

:53:45. > :53:46.perhaps a little premature in saying that no one can touch the United

:53:47. > :53:53.States. Because Jamaica certainly can. A good run at the moment as

:53:54. > :54:06.well from the Canadians out there in lane eight, Caroline Miller. --

:54:07. > :54:13.Caroline Muir. There are four teams in a chance here, with the Bahamas,

:54:14. > :54:21.Italy, and Canada to get amongst it. This is a huge opportunity for

:54:22. > :54:24.Onuora, overlooked for individual selection, and not only with a bit

:54:25. > :54:28.of a point to prove, but she wants to make sure that she has a good

:54:29. > :54:36.strongly here, if Britain at have a chance. Kelly Massey next and then

:54:37. > :54:39.Christine Ohuruogu. Canada strong, Bahamas starting to come here, the

:54:40. > :54:51.Germans are going well at the moment and Italy will still be a danger,

:54:52. > :55:02.because they have Ohuruogu on the last leg. It has been a good leg by

:55:03. > :55:11.a Onuora, not too far behind the Jamaicans, Canada, but certainly the

:55:12. > :55:16.Canada, just beginning to move past Kelly Massey at the moment, but they

:55:17. > :55:22.need to panic in the relays. You can be split and put into quick as Bert

:55:23. > :55:29.come as we have seen in the past. Kelly Massey, ran well in Amsterdam,

:55:30. > :55:33.that is why she was putting the team. She did not run in the final

:55:34. > :55:38.in Amsterdam, but she may be asked here, because she has won a storming

:55:39. > :55:48.leg. Kelly Massey, along Wade back the Italians, -- a long way back,

:55:49. > :55:54.through three on the last leg. Also on some chaos at the changeover,

:55:55. > :56:00.something went amiss in the infield. Christine Ohuruogu is able to fix

:56:01. > :56:15.her stare at on the Jamaican runner, Williams Mills,, it is a good run by

:56:16. > :56:21.Canada, said Watson is -- Sage Watson. She is taking herself in

:56:22. > :56:26.behind Ohuruogu. Ohuruogu looks panic, but she is running well.

:56:27. > :56:30.Ohuruogu will surely have enough to respond and hold off Watson, Jamaica

:56:31. > :56:34.able to cross the line well in front in first place, but Ohuruogu ringing

:56:35. > :56:41.Great Britain Northern Ireland home for Great Britain, and then Canada

:56:42. > :56:44.and then Italy. Front were in the fastest losers position from the

:56:45. > :56:49.first heat, and I think they might... They might be gone.

:56:50. > :56:54.Christine Ohuruogu has wrought Great Britain and Northern Ireland home,

:56:55. > :56:59.they are safely through to the final, a hug between the teammates

:57:00. > :57:03.there are job done. A long way behind Jamaica, as the others were

:57:04. > :57:10.behind the United States in the first heat, but a tidy and a run.

:57:11. > :57:19.That is going to mean that Franz Iraq, because the Italians, Grenot

:57:20. > :57:29.won a great leg for them -- ran a great leg for them. A cracking leg

:57:30. > :57:34.for Christine Ohuruogu. -- for Anyika Onuora. It was a real is that

:57:35. > :57:38.the change for the Canadians, a real worry for them. -- scrappy change

:57:39. > :57:42.for the Canadians. You could not see it on that shot, at the Canadians

:57:43. > :57:50.were really hampered by the Jamaicans, that gave Christine a

:57:51. > :57:57.little bit of leeway, Grenot was miles back, that is a season is best

:57:58. > :58:00.for the Quartet, but I think they will have to find a little bit more

:58:01. > :58:06.if they are going to get amongst the medals here. Christine Ohuruogu

:58:07. > :58:09.brings them home, Great Britain were the fourth fastest qualifying time

:58:10. > :58:15.overall in that heat, taking second behind Jamaica, with Canada going

:58:16. > :58:21.through, Italy the fastest loser qualifier there. Holly Bradshaw,

:58:22. > :58:24.that was so close to staying on. She looked as though she got over that,

:58:25. > :58:31.I would like to see this in slow motion. It is a first-time failure

:58:32. > :58:40.for Bradshaw at this new height. We have just seen the Greek athlete to

:58:41. > :58:43.clear, have a look at this, she gives it the rattle and is

:58:44. > :58:51.dislodged. Unfortunately for Bradshaw, two more attempts to stay

:58:52. > :59:05.involved in this polevault final. Let's just tidy this 4x400. They did

:59:06. > :59:12.not make it through without Muir, they may have been, France and there

:59:13. > :59:15.either. Not through is a fastest loser, that goes to Italy and

:59:16. > :59:24.Australia, so the United States and the maker, -- and Jamaica. They are

:59:25. > :59:30.through, Great Britain, that is the important thing.

:59:31. > :59:38.Last night we saw one of the true greats in athletics, Ashton Eaton,

:59:39. > :59:46.the decathlete, clinch his second gold medal in the decathlon,

:59:47. > :59:47.matching defeat of Daley Thompson in 1984. This is the climax of the 1500

:59:48. > :00:12.metres. You have to hand it to this guy. He

:00:13. > :00:22.is stretching away again, trying to muster some kind of finish. He is

:00:23. > :00:26.making Ashton Eaton work hard here. The world recordholder. No records

:00:27. > :00:30.here today, just making sure of the gold medal. We are going to see a

:00:31. > :00:39.sprint finish and the three medallists already trying to move

:00:40. > :00:46.towards winning this 1500 perhaps moving a little bit closer. Ashton

:00:47. > :00:54.Eaton going around the bend, Warner with him. These are our three

:00:55. > :01:03.medallists in what has been a very, very high standard decathlon. Ashton

:01:04. > :01:09.Eaton, the greatest there has ever been, the greatest all round

:01:10. > :01:15.athlete. Wonderful, wonderful champion. He has won the Olympic

:01:16. > :01:28.champion, Ashton Eaton the gold-medallist. That was a joy to

:01:29. > :01:35.watch because it got competitive in the end. He had to work for it. A

:01:36. > :01:39.great champion, he doesn't get enough credit. Back home he is a

:01:40. > :01:49.great huge star. Nikkei has done a great job. -- Nike. He is happy to

:01:50. > :01:54.work his craft in the background, he is a really great student of

:01:55. > :02:01.athletics and the decathlon. He worked alongside his coach on all of

:02:02. > :02:08.the technical aspects of each event. Interesting that you say it is a big

:02:09. > :02:13.star at home. Would people know that who he is? Would he go on chat

:02:14. > :02:19.shows? Slow down a little bit. I should have said relatively

:02:20. > :02:24.speaking, he is a big star at home. Obviously, he would not compete with

:02:25. > :02:30.the NBA players or NFL players. In terms of the Olympics though.

:02:31. > :02:33.Whatever happens in the Olympic cycle, advertisers start to pick who

:02:34. > :02:39.the advertisers are that they want to represent them. It was Allyson

:02:40. > :02:48.Felix this year. He was big. We saw him an different ads. He is one of

:02:49. > :03:10.the big stars of the entire Olympic team. Is it possible to compare he

:03:11. > :03:14.and daily? -- Daley. Ashton is just a fantastic athlete, it's a

:03:15. > :03:18.different era. It's a shame he doesn't quite get the recognition he

:03:19. > :03:23.deserves. Maybe he would choose to do a few more event on the circuit,

:03:24. > :03:38.that would build his profile more. I want to give a quick nod to Kevin

:03:39. > :03:43.Mayer, the Frenchman who won a medal. It was such a huge, huge

:03:44. > :03:49.event, the decathlon. Over the last few years, it has waned with the

:03:50. > :03:56.likes of old being around. -- Usain Bolt. For the UK, we haven't had

:03:57. > :04:03.many body for the last few years have been out there challenging.

:04:04. > :04:11.Ashley Bryant would have qualified here. He had an unfortunate miss hap

:04:12. > :04:16.in his polevault. -- mishap. It is difficult to compete without your

:04:17. > :04:24.proper poll. He was chasing the qualification and didn't make it.

:04:25. > :04:28.Let's hear from Ashton Eaton. Congratulations on a wonderful

:04:29. > :04:32.performance. The only man after our own daily Thompson to retain an

:04:33. > :04:37.Olympic decathlon title. Our specialist that? Very special. You

:04:38. > :04:47.know what? One day I am going to have to see Daley Thompson. Thanks

:04:48. > :04:56.for giving me something to chase, I will say. I thinker had a lot of

:04:57. > :05:01.defining moments. Right from the shotput, I was getting after it, the

:05:02. > :05:06.discus, I was getting out it. The throws are what kept me on this. For

:05:07. > :05:13.me, my modus operandi is running, I don't have less of past speed. --

:05:14. > :05:20.laser fast. You are 28, history has been made. Do you think you will be

:05:21. > :05:26.three in a row? Leigh ask Daley Thompson if you think I should.

:05:27. > :05:39.-- ask a daily Thompson. Congratulations. To my fans, you're

:05:40. > :05:52.the reason I do this, thank you. Get in touch with us, Daley, thanks. But

:05:53. > :05:56.to mind ourselves how great you are. COMMENTATOR: All eight metres for

:05:57. > :06:05.Daley Thompson, tremendous! That is a very fine shotput. Always clear!

:06:06. > :06:09.Thompson is going well. Thompson is there!

:06:10. > :06:23.Yes! He is very, very confident at the moment. A big throw! At

:06:24. > :06:29.beautiful throw. Just under 65 metres. The crowd are already

:06:30. > :06:37.applauding the greatest all-round athlete in the world, Thompson, the

:06:38. > :06:43.Olympic champion! It's a better one, it's a better one, it is a better

:06:44. > :06:47.one, it's a better one! Is dancing in the circle. The IronMan comes

:06:48. > :07:01.through. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. The master is

:07:02. > :07:07.clear! 00 Olympic champion. -- double Olympic champion.

:07:08. > :07:15.I think Ashton needs to put on that moustache. He is too clean cut. I

:07:16. > :07:20.think Daley will tell him to continue. Injuries marred his career

:07:21. > :07:26.but he was determined to go for number three. I was just watching

:07:27. > :07:33.daily, Usain Bolt is the new Daley Thompson. That is what made Daley,

:07:34. > :07:42.he had a charisma and confidence and he was an entertainer. Usain Bolt is

:07:43. > :07:45.the new Daley Thompson. It gave permission for the next Daley

:07:46. > :07:53.Thompson and rarities. He will be running in another race a little bit

:07:54. > :07:54.later. Icho -- it shows you that athletes come in all shapes and

:07:55. > :08:10.sizes. Well done one and all. Emily, key to

:08:11. > :08:20.get into the race. Always that Eamonn first leg. Try get into a

:08:21. > :08:27.good position. -- get the lead in the first leg. We got the job done,

:08:28. > :08:32.we qualified tomorrow, have to bring it back tomorrow. You had to be

:08:33. > :08:40.chomping at the bit to be involved in the Olympics, you did a good job.

:08:41. > :08:46.I was watching the rest of the girls perform and yeah, I was waiting for

:08:47. > :08:56.my time. Great to step out in nearly the stadium. Loving the Olympic

:08:57. > :09:03.errors well. I try. -- loving the Olympic hair. And have a lot of

:09:04. > :09:10.experience with the relay. I could feel the Canadian on my shoulder but

:09:11. > :09:13.I wanted to keep the inside of the curve and crossover in second again

:09:14. > :09:18.with a goodly but these two girls got us. Christine, safely through to

:09:19. > :09:24.another final. You have been his semi- ties with the British team, a

:09:25. > :09:29.strong medal hope for you? We try not to get overexcited. We are going

:09:30. > :09:33.to go back, rest up and come back and fight for tomorrow. We wish you

:09:34. > :09:44.all well for the final and well done, good luck.

:09:45. > :09:55.Sandi Morris of the United States. Easy clearance for her.

:09:56. > :10:03.She is looking very competent, very capable. A comfortable height for

:10:04. > :10:08.her on paper, she is making it look easy. Morris, a perfect start to

:10:09. > :10:21.this polevault final. There is Holly Bradshaw. She is

:10:22. > :10:28.getting herself ready for her second attempt. Four metres 60. We have

:10:29. > :10:41.seen a cat Renee Stefanie Perri clear already.

:10:42. > :10:56.For athletes only clear on their first event. Yes! She is over, she

:10:57. > :11:10.has got it. That is a really good jump. -- Ekaterini Stefanidi. A

:11:11. > :11:15.quick look at how they line up for the men's four x 400 relay. Lumpier,

:11:16. > :11:21.Botswana, Japan, Jamaica, United dates. Poland and Trinidad Tobago.

:11:22. > :11:31.France on the outer side. -- United States. The Russian quartet.

:11:32. > :11:42.Botswana would have a much stronger but they are missing someone.

:11:43. > :12:13.McDonald who went well in the individual, running strong for

:12:14. > :12:16.Jamaica. This very, very powerful Trinidad Tobago quartet. Jonathan

:12:17. > :12:24.and Solomon running for them. Trinidad Tobago with America. A

:12:25. > :12:31.good run for Botswana but three or four contenders in here at the

:12:32. > :12:37.moment. It is going to be close. USA, Botswana, off to a good start.

:12:38. > :12:45.The junior champ who is not here would have made a big difference to

:12:46. > :12:48.them. These heats are not easy. Sometimes you look at it and think

:12:49. > :12:52.that you know who the top four or five teams are but this is

:12:53. > :12:58.difficult, USA have got others to bring in, as you said. Jamaica

:12:59. > :13:08.perhaps have got another one or two to bring in. They think this will be

:13:09. > :13:17.the best that Botswana has got. The French are trying to stay in touch.

:13:18. > :13:21.Botswana just being held off at the moment by the United States. Carl

:13:22. > :13:30.Clemens takes it on. Botswana might start to recede a

:13:31. > :13:42.little bit and Trinidad Tobago have very strong squad throughout.

:13:43. > :13:45.Another good leg for Botswana. Trinidad Tobago, Jamaica, these

:13:46. > :13:46.for just started to separate themselves. Only three go through

:13:47. > :13:51.automatically. It is a a real scrap on for fifth

:13:52. > :14:07.place. A good race so far. Botswana might

:14:08. > :14:20.be the ones to struggle here of the top three.

:14:21. > :14:29.Jamaica. The United States is out in front. A little bit disappointing in

:14:30. > :14:32.the individual but only a semifinalist. He is hanging on at

:14:33. > :14:38.the moment. He is making it look like hard work.

:14:39. > :14:46.These three will begin to move away now. Poland looking for a fastest

:14:47. > :14:54.loser position. Jamaica eventually take it.

:14:55. > :15:00.Trinidad Tobago comfortable enough in third place. That was a good

:15:01. > :15:06.race, a good run, America will certainly get stronger. I wonder if

:15:07. > :15:12.they will use Clement again. That was a good race, first and foremost.

:15:13. > :15:17.You're cracking race. You can see, the standard is listing here. We

:15:18. > :15:18.expected the USA and they have got plenty to bring in, plenty of

:15:19. > :15:37.options. Jamaica going well. They did enough to chase down the

:15:38. > :15:46.USA. Trinidad Tobago, their best team so they got through their best.

:15:47. > :15:52.Botswana, even without the junior champion, they held in fourth. You

:15:53. > :15:56.get under three minutes, the British team haven't got under three minutes

:15:57. > :16:01.this year, that means, that is much quicker than the Polish team ran at

:16:02. > :16:05.the championships. Top three go through and then the two fastest

:16:06. > :16:11.losers, Britain need to be really strong in this next semi. Anybody

:16:12. > :16:17.going through the low three minutes is a very, very good run. Botswana

:16:18. > :16:21.are missing a couple of very, very talented athletes. Sometimes they

:16:22. > :16:26.have had Nigel Amos in the past. Jamaica, United States and Trinidad

:16:27. > :16:28.Tobago. Those times for Botswana and Poland will stand them in very

:16:29. > :17:17.good stead. That is Lutalo Mohammed going for

:17:18. > :17:26.gold. The men's hammer final, it is Belarus, a previously convicted drug

:17:27. > :17:36.cheat, medals taken away from him, mixed feelings, certainly decide of

:17:37. > :18:04.the fence watching on. 40 years of age now. It is a throw of over 75.

:18:05. > :18:07.Ivan Tsikhan goes in the lead. Yarisley Silva, this is her second

:18:08. > :18:15.attempt for the world champion from last year. She made that look really

:18:16. > :18:18.easy. Very quick, short approach. Not one of the tallest pole

:18:19. > :18:25.vaulters, but very athletic, gymnastics background, Yarisley

:18:26. > :18:28.Silva, got it right the second time, and that foul may count against her,

:18:29. > :18:39.later in the competition. Great Britain have probably drawn

:18:40. > :18:43.the easier I think of the two heat, they should be able to get through

:18:44. > :18:50.with the Tapia, Nigel Lavigne will leave them, William second, Hudson

:18:51. > :18:55.Smith, then Martyn Rooney. Martyn Rooney ran like, Euro and what he

:18:56. > :19:01.said he ran like, -- you remember what he said he ran like, let's hope

:19:02. > :19:09.he does not run like that again. Williams ran a great leg, 44.8 leg,

:19:10. > :19:17.Trinidad, they have been disqualified. We are not directly

:19:18. > :19:25.why, it may be an infringement with that changeover. A very strong

:19:26. > :19:33.quartet disqualified. That would really enhance Great Britain's

:19:34. > :19:37.polish -- prospect of a medal. Botswana missing one of their better

:19:38. > :19:41.runners, Trinidad one of the big danger is perhaps, at the moment

:19:42. > :19:47.disqualified. That is confirmation of it. We have seen appeals be

:19:48. > :19:51.upheld, we have seen quite a lot of them being upheld, the jewellery of

:19:52. > :19:56.appeal -- jury of appeal have been very active at these championships.

:19:57. > :19:59.We are not entirely sure what that is for, but we will check for you.

:20:00. > :20:13.Great Britain just switch around of the auto, Nigel Lavigne, -- of the

:20:14. > :20:25.order. Delanno Williams is a really good run, Matthew Hudson Smith,

:20:26. > :20:30.there is well. American Republic, Bahamas, Cuba, Venezuela, India,

:20:31. > :20:53.Belgium and Rizal. -- Brazil. Things, I should never tempt fate

:20:54. > :20:58.should I. Things look good in this heat for Great Britain. Something

:20:59. > :21:03.around the three-minute mark just to be safe, top three in and around

:21:04. > :21:10.three minutes. Now that Trinidad have been disqualified from the

:21:11. > :21:20.first heat, the fastest loser spot has shifted one. So now fronts are

:21:21. > :21:27.sitting in a fastest loser spot of 3.8 two. 3.82. Brazil are in this by

:21:28. > :21:51.the way. Nigel Lavigne, so much experience, a

:21:52. > :21:57.good man to have on the leadoff leg. He will be hoping to keep it nice

:21:58. > :22:01.and solid. -- Nigel Levine. No theatrical here from the British

:22:02. > :22:09.team. Always hard in lane one with this the long stag, Venezuelan going

:22:10. > :22:18.well. And Brazil, the cheer to the rafters. Alonzo Russell also having

:22:19. > :22:22.a good leg, and it might be the Bahamas at this first leg. A good

:22:23. > :22:28.run by the Brazilian runner, and Nigel Levine picking up, he will be

:22:29. > :22:37.handing over to Delanno Williams, very much part of the relay squad

:22:38. > :22:42.now in Brazil, Rousseau takes it on, can be proud -- can the crowd at

:22:43. > :22:52.Brazil to a performance above their abilities. Alonzo Russell from the

:22:53. > :23:03.Bahamas in the front. Another good race developing here, Delanno

:23:04. > :23:18.Williams just latching onto the back of Jonathan Borlee. That is a good

:23:19. > :23:23.run from Delanno Williams. Just a bit of daylight between themselves

:23:24. > :23:27.and Brazil, only the top three will qualify by rights, and just give

:23:28. > :23:32.Martyn Rooney a good chance on the last leg, we know what he does on

:23:33. > :23:40.the last leg in the relay, normally so dependable. Stephen Gardner, the

:23:41. > :23:46.hugely talented Bahamian, just taking it easy at the moment. The --

:23:47. > :23:53.here he comes now. So much in the reserve there to give the Bahamas

:23:54. > :23:58.are lead, a good run by Dylan Borlee, the younger of the Borlee

:23:59. > :24:02.boys, and Great Britain will be in a good position going into the final

:24:03. > :24:11.leg. Just wanted to make sure he got the baton safely, Martyn Rooney

:24:12. > :24:19.should be fine here. Zilla chasing, -- Brazil are chasing. The Bahamas

:24:20. > :24:27.-- Newbould of the Bahamas might come under a bit of pressure. Kevin

:24:28. > :24:32.Borlee and Martyn Rooney know each other very well. Look at this,

:24:33. > :24:37.Martyn Rooney wants to make up to a really poor run individually, he

:24:38. > :24:41.looks fantastic there, Martyn Rooney coming home for Great Britain, the

:24:42. > :24:50.time we pretty good as well, under three minutes. That is better, much

:24:51. > :24:56.better. That men means that -- that means that they have put themselves

:24:57. > :25:03.in the middle zone. -- medal zone. These guys did great. Set up lovely,

:25:04. > :25:11.did them proud, and we know what he can do with a baton on the last leg.

:25:12. > :25:15.Nigel Levine with a very good 45.7, Williams 44 flat, that is another

:25:16. > :25:20.cracking leg from him, Hudson Smith solid 45.3, and Martyn Rooney, but

:25:21. > :25:30.went through bit of a saunter in 43 point eight. -- 43.8. We are talking

:25:31. > :25:34.about the relays, why can't he do that in... It is another subject,

:25:35. > :25:38.but goodness me. He is running great in the relay, that is all we carried

:25:39. > :25:43.out at the moment. Well under three minutes, and this has really shifted

:25:44. > :25:48.them now, they have a chance. Martyn Rooney, he has that sense of "I need

:25:49. > :25:53.to make amends for that performance in the individual. " He is a great

:25:54. > :25:57.relay runner. We saw in the European Championships when Matthew Hudson

:25:58. > :26:02.Smith was on the end -- anchor leg, Martyn Rooney likes feeling that he

:26:03. > :26:07.is the most experienced guy in the camp, he was saying to everyone at

:26:08. > :26:14.the end, you should be proud, he is the leader of the team, and he

:26:15. > :26:17.produces performances in the relay that he does not in individuals.

:26:18. > :26:22.That time there suddenly puts this men's four x 400 metre quartet into

:26:23. > :26:26.a great position. Especially with Trinidad Tobago being

:26:27. > :26:30.disqualified. That is a great time. He went straight to his team, that

:26:31. > :26:38.is a team event. And as a quartet they work so well there.

:26:39. > :26:47.That is a pretty QuickTime, 2.58.88, three seconds quicker than their run

:26:48. > :26:53.at the European Championships. Belgium will also be contenders, the

:26:54. > :27:02.Bahamas will go through and Cuba will go through as fastest losers,

:27:03. > :27:08.sadly not Brazil at the moment. We are getting towards the business and

:27:09. > :27:16.of this women's pole vaulting final, the bar is now at 4.7 zero.

:27:17. > :27:20.Stefanidi, first attempt, that was a really competent clearance. That has

:27:21. > :27:30.been really consistent in the diamond lead, -- diamond lead. Ever

:27:31. > :27:39.so consistent. Stefanidi. Clear at 4.70. All right then, Holly

:27:40. > :27:45.Bradshaw. She has knocked it off once, this new season 's best, one

:27:46. > :27:56.centimetre shy of her British record. Second attempt, 4.70. Yes!

:27:57. > :28:01.Holly Bradshaw goes clear, her coach looking on, looking rather calm it

:28:02. > :28:05.has to be said. Great stuff from the Brit. Only one athlete has gone

:28:06. > :28:12.clear of this height, and now it is two. One of them is a Brit, Holly

:28:13. > :28:15.Bradshaw. Seventh last year at the World Championships, she loves the

:28:16. > :28:27.big stage, going well. At the moment, this is how the

:28:28. > :28:29.qualifiers look. It is not quite official on our screens for the

:28:30. > :28:33.second heat, as you heard, Trinidad second heat, as you heard, Trinidad

:28:34. > :28:37.Tobago disqualified from the first round, so it is these eight.

:28:38. > :28:41.Jamaica, United States, Great Britain, and that time is

:28:42. > :28:44.significant, it gives them a chance. Eldon, Botswana, Poland, Bahamas and

:28:45. > :28:52.Cuba. They will contest the final tomorrow. -- Poland. -- Belgium.

:28:53. > :28:57.Through to the final, you must be thrilled as a team. We ran quite

:28:58. > :29:02.quick as well. It is quite tough when you're in lane one, so tried my

:29:03. > :29:06.best to set up for the others, to make it easier for the final. It was

:29:07. > :29:11.quite tough running in lane one. But hey, I did my best, hopefully, and

:29:12. > :29:16.it was good enough for us to make it through to the final, winning our

:29:17. > :29:21.heat, I am... I am ecstatic. I am quite happy. You did a fine job,

:29:22. > :29:28.trust me. And so do you, 44 seconds flat is what I heard from our

:29:29. > :29:34.statistician. That is tremendous. A take inspiration from my captain,

:29:35. > :29:39.Martyn Rooney, it has been good. I feel good, I just have to get to

:29:40. > :29:45.recovery and stick to it. And you have had a busy time of it, you came

:29:46. > :29:52.back, what was left, it seemed... I am dead. I just tried to get Martyn

:29:53. > :29:56.to a position where he could attack and do what he does best. That is

:29:57. > :30:01.all I could do really. You brought the team home so many times in

:30:02. > :30:09.style, including last year, 43.8 V you, -- to you. What more can you do

:30:10. > :30:12.now in the final? I want to celebrate this first, but I am so

:30:13. > :30:23.proud of these boys, we had a tough lane draw, these guys rose to the

:30:24. > :30:26.occasion, they are incredible. My last interview was terrible, I will

:30:27. > :30:31.not swear in this one, sorry about that, but I just want to thank these

:30:32. > :30:38.guys and the national lottery to bring us together, and to bring us

:30:39. > :30:52.together and train, and it is paying off. The eliminated runner, he will

:30:53. > :30:56.not make it? It is a massive loss to the team, but he is here, he is

:30:57. > :31:01.supporting us, he is guiding us, he is my captain, and without his

:31:02. > :31:02.support we would not be here. Wishing you all well, all the best

:31:03. > :31:19.in the final. the result wasn't official will stop

:31:20. > :31:26.Great Britain have been disqualified. I have no idea why,

:31:27. > :31:32.India have also been disqualified. We mentioned Trinidad and could

:31:33. > :31:38.Tobago from the first heat. -- Trinidad Tobago. The elation that

:31:39. > :31:43.they had at the end of that race was won that which obviously they were

:31:44. > :31:47.realising what had happened. I couldn't see anything wrong. We will

:31:48. > :31:52.try and find out. I am not sure if they are still there. I'm trying to

:31:53. > :31:59.see whether they are and whether they know. There is a medal ceremony

:32:00. > :32:03.going on in the stadium so there -- it will be a bit difficult to find

:32:04. > :32:10.out what is going on. Disqualified for the moment. Will go back to the

:32:11. > :32:17.studio for now. That is the medal ceremony for Ashton Eaton. As

:32:18. > :32:24.Stephen said, we all have no idea. Nothing you can think of that was an

:32:25. > :32:27.infringement? York second position runner has to wait until he crosses

:32:28. > :32:33.the break line which would be the 100 metres to the track mark. If you

:32:34. > :32:37.crossed that before you get to that point, that would be a

:32:38. > :32:43.disqualification. Most of the disqualifications in the four x 400

:32:44. > :32:46.metre relay, as a result of someone protesting that you impeded them.

:32:47. > :32:51.That is too quick for that to have happened. It has to have been the

:32:52. > :32:53.judge deciding that he saw something somewhere that was an infringement

:32:54. > :32:59.and are just can't think of what that would be. It is rare that in

:33:00. > :33:03.some cases, the judge will not wait for another team to protest EPC is

:33:04. > :33:09.an infringement, if he sees someone cross in front of someone. -- if he

:33:10. > :33:13.sees. I didn't see a lot of changes in the latter part of that race in

:33:14. > :33:20.terms of position, a lot at the beginning. Maybe someone cut someone

:33:21. > :33:24.asked. The other thing that could happen is if they position you here,

:33:25. > :33:34.according to weigh your incoming runner comes, with 100 metres to go.

:33:35. > :33:40.-- according to where. They can disqualify you. People have done

:33:41. > :33:44.that because, say they put me in second position, if my guy passes

:33:45. > :33:48.the guy in first, if I pushed him over because I want to be in first

:33:49. > :34:02.position, I can't do that. I will be disqualified. There are some blues

:34:03. > :34:05.they because it has come up on the big screen that India, Trinidad

:34:06. > :34:20.Tobago and Great Britain have all been disqualified. With a 4x4,

:34:21. > :34:23.either sometimes somebody impeding. -- it could be somebody impeding

:34:24. > :34:28.them that causes the disqualification. Let's have another

:34:29. > :34:37.look because we are surely have all the changeovers. Now.

:34:38. > :34:46.This would be fairly straightforward. There is no

:34:47. > :34:51.infringement there that I can see. Nothing the first lake. Everything

:34:52. > :35:08.is clear at this point. Here is the second one. Nothing that I can see

:35:09. > :35:13.there at that particular changeover. Again, it's not just limited to the

:35:14. > :35:17.changeovers. It could be something that happened in another area. At

:35:18. > :35:36.work clearing up the changeovers that. Blair Martin is not in the

:35:37. > :35:53.right place. -- Martin was not in the right place. I think Paul is

:35:54. > :35:57.right. We have been told it is the rule of way you can't start running

:35:58. > :36:01.outside your zone. He is in the zone when he picks it up. Why is he on

:36:02. > :36:07.the inside? They weren't in the lead at the top.

:36:08. > :36:26.I think they were. He took it slow for the Bahamas and then passed

:36:27. > :36:31.Great Britain. Martin had one foot outside the line. You can't start

:36:32. > :36:35.running, you have to be inside. Whether the judges decided that

:36:36. > :36:39.Martin had started running because he had one foot outside. He

:36:40. > :36:44.literally had one foot outside the zone, that would be incredibly

:36:45. > :36:55.harsh. Rooney can't start running, he has to be inside the line. As far

:36:56. > :37:09.as I can see, he was. Steve, I was looking as you are

:37:10. > :37:14.explaining that rule and I did not see an instruction of that rule. --

:37:15. > :37:23.obstruction. May be a don't understand that will

:37:24. > :37:32.exactly as it should be. I am just wondering if it is the position. You

:37:33. > :37:37.said they lined up according to... We weren't able to see whether

:37:38. > :37:43.incoming runners were. Was he in second place when he entered the

:37:44. > :37:51.straight? They are not supposed to move. They would also be

:37:52. > :38:03.disqualified. Isn't it at the 200 cheque? At the bend? -- check. That

:38:04. > :38:07.is the second change and you are happy with that. Can we go back to

:38:08. > :38:12.the rule about you have to be in the position that the official puts you

:38:13. > :38:14.in, that would mean that Great Britain swapped with the Bahamas

:38:15. > :38:19.which would also mean that the Bahamas would be disqualified. That

:38:20. > :38:26.would not be that because they would also disqualify the Bahamas.

:38:27. > :38:40.Is about where Martyn Rooney took off. I then see that. --I don't see

:38:41. > :38:44.that. We have seen so many rules being broken, people being

:38:45. > :38:54.disqualified, reinstated, what will happen? Remember when Tamsin Lewis

:38:55. > :38:57.got Natasha disqualified, in the Commonwealth? Australia were

:38:58. > :39:10.disqualified then, she moved position. Everybody is baffled. Just

:39:11. > :39:15.baffled. Is Martyn Rooney tells the Bahamas athlete to move over, and he

:39:16. > :39:22.doesn't, they would not disqualify the Bahamas. We will hopefully be

:39:23. > :39:28.able to some clear news about why Great Britain was disqualified.

:39:29. > :39:32.Fantastic run, it is devastating. Paula has joined us because

:39:33. > :39:37.obviously the women's 5000 metres is going on in the track shortly.

:39:38. > :39:47.You come from Richard sporting and athletics. . She has look good this

:39:48. > :39:56.year. -- she has come from rich sporting and athletics royalty.

:39:57. > :40:02.She is getting to the bell and thinking that she has a lot left.

:40:03. > :40:15.She is letting gaps open up. She can use it earlier in a flat race.

:40:16. > :40:55.We began this with an Olympic record.

:40:56. > :41:14.D'Agostino, the two of them got up and hobbled round. Almaz Ayana took

:41:15. > :41:21.the record. Women's 5000 metre final and eloquent to stand up -- they are

:41:22. > :41:24.going to stand up. A lot of questions kicking around tonight.

:41:25. > :41:28.Today about whether Almaz Ayana is great to do the same. She had a lot

:41:29. > :41:34.of help in the 10,000 in the sense that the first 4000 metres

:41:35. > :41:42.effectively had a pacemaker. I am not sure she is going to get that

:41:43. > :41:46.tonight. Goodness me. It's not hard, just walk to the line, keep your

:41:47. > :41:51.toes behind the line. I'm not sure if it's the athletes or the

:41:52. > :42:12.officials who are a bit gingery. -- jittery.

:42:13. > :42:20.It was a stunning run which shocked an awful lot of people. They has

:42:21. > :42:24.been a lot of discussion in the environment in which we all exist

:42:25. > :42:29.these days, fingers of suspicion. But you don't raise championship

:42:30. > :42:34.races that fast very often. They don't bring big 10,000s very often,

:42:35. > :42:40.and she showed her ability is such that not only had Sami people are

:42:41. > :42:46.running faster than ever before. -- so many. She read the record book

:42:47. > :42:50.and the standards by which distance running is judged on one if she can

:42:51. > :42:55.do the with 5000 metres. She certainly did rewrite the record

:42:56. > :43:00.books, but look at her style. She is very economic. She runs so

:43:01. > :43:04.comfortable. She doesn't like athletes around her. She doesn't

:43:05. > :43:10.tend to have athletes around her. But there is Eilish McColgan. Great

:43:11. > :43:18.to see her here. I used to be nervous, because you said it didn't

:43:19. > :43:20.really agree with her. But now Eilish McColgan is running around

:43:21. > :43:31.them on the outside. Just relaxing in the race. A good place to be fed

:43:32. > :43:36.her. -- for her. Liza McCarney of New Zealand, 19 years of age and

:43:37. > :43:41.making a sensational improvement this year as a first-year senior --

:43:42. > :43:47.Eliza. She started her competition well in the final. She goes clear.

:43:48. > :43:59.We see Bradshaw brokenly at the site. We solves Brickley at this

:44:00. > :44:08.height. -- we saw Bradshaw go clear at this is height. It is a good

:44:09. > :44:16.clearance in the end for McCarney. She will be a contender.

:44:17. > :44:24.The last athlete to attempt this height, Buchler. We have seen three

:44:25. > :44:36.athlete broke clear on their first attempt only. 3000 and you are out,

:44:37. > :44:46.of course -- three. She does. For athletes go clear at 470. The next

:44:47. > :44:53.height is 480. Bradshaw is amongst them -- four athlete. A good pole

:44:54. > :45:00.vault final developing. The 5000 metres is approaching the first 1000

:45:01. > :45:07.in about three minutes. Pretty slow, especially given what Almaz Ayana

:45:08. > :45:13.run the other night. She ran 14.30 and no other woman in this field has

:45:14. > :45:18.run out for 5000 at all this year. Including Mercy Cherono. That put

:45:19. > :45:22.some perspective on the actual figures. When you analyse those

:45:23. > :45:26.figures, they were staggering figures. I agree with what you said

:45:27. > :45:32.earlier, the fact that they don't run big 10,000 metres at a rally in

:45:33. > :45:37.the championships do you get a pace lead like they did in that 10,000

:45:38. > :45:42.metres. Unlike today, three minutes for the first 1000 metres says it is

:45:43. > :45:48.pretty steady. Most of them can run under 15 minutes for 5000 metres. In

:45:49. > :45:54.their place is Vivian Jepkemoi Cheruiyot. This is a more

:45:55. > :46:01.comfortable place. There is Eilish McColgan looking relaxed on the

:46:02. > :46:09.outside. There is Eilish McColgan. I am a bit surprised that Miyuki

:46:10. > :46:12.Uehara is sitting in the front. But with nine laps to go, I think she

:46:13. > :46:16.will be waiting and waiting, and Vivian Jepkemoi Cheruiyot is in the

:46:17. > :46:23.right place, just one spot behind her. There is a bit of space. Almaz

:46:24. > :46:28.Ayana doesn't like athletes around her. She does not like running near

:46:29. > :46:34.them. She has that open space. I notice all the time that Almaz Ayana

:46:35. > :46:45.is looking at the clock, and I since she is getting ready to make a move.

:46:46. > :46:52.-- sense. So Mercy Cherono, Cheruiyot, running for the silver

:46:53. > :47:03.medal. There was a redhot favourite, and Almaz Ayana return apart. The

:47:04. > :47:10.silver medal was taken then because she was so devastated by the running

:47:11. > :47:16.from Almaz Ayana, is committed front runner not yet at the front. She was

:47:17. > :47:21.listening to what I said. She said OK, Steve, sorry about that. She can

:47:22. > :47:26.change gear. She's not the fastest. But in the middle of the race, she

:47:27. > :47:30.has taken them by surprise again. She will do it again, another 3000

:47:31. > :47:35.metres. A little more than 3000 metres. Let's see how fast she goes.

:47:36. > :47:41.Just under eight laps to go in the women's 5000 metres. The 10,000

:47:42. > :47:44.metre champion and world record holder is now striking out and

:47:45. > :47:48.making a long run for home. We have seen her do this in the World

:47:49. > :47:52.Championships last year. We saw her do it in an believable style in the

:47:53. > :47:57.10,000 metres earlier this week. -- unbelievable. There she goes down

:47:58. > :48:00.the back straight. That is an absolute real injection of pace.

:48:01. > :48:07.Three minutes for the second kilometre.

:48:08. > :48:19.Sandy Morris of America, third best ever after her jumping indoors for

:48:20. > :48:25.93. The height is now 470 in the Olympic final. Second attempt, goes

:48:26. > :48:30.clear. Bradshaw did it on her first attempt, so at the moment, Bradshaw

:48:31. > :48:37.in a better position than the world leader, Morris. Good clearance,

:48:38. > :48:45.though. The next height is 480. Great shots of that clearance by

:48:46. > :48:53.Sandy Morris. This is now all about one person, Almaz Ayana, on her own,

:48:54. > :49:01.putting in a 65 second mark, which is pretty devastating. Their uneven

:49:02. > :49:07.pace would be 68. It just shows she has jotted down all of a sudden, and

:49:08. > :49:11.then world-class runners, Cheruiyot has four world titles and three

:49:12. > :49:15.Olympic medals and is nowhere near, can't even touch Ahmadzai and.

:49:16. > :49:23.Eilish McColgan is in the group behind. -- touch Almaz Ayana. She is

:49:24. > :49:30.working hard to get to that second group of the three canyons. --

:49:31. > :49:39.Kenyans. She's at the peak of her form. Attending to become the second

:49:40. > :49:45.Ethiopian to win the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres double. You would not

:49:46. > :49:49.bet against a few. 6.5 laps to go. Almaz Ayana is pulling away at every

:49:50. > :49:52.stride. Eilish McColgan Bunning at the back of the group and looking a

:49:53. > :49:59.bit hot, hurting a little -- running. But she has to stick to the

:50:00. > :50:07.task and stay at the back allegro. But there is some talent in that

:50:08. > :50:12.group as well. Paula Radcliffe, this is expected. She didn't go from the

:50:13. > :50:19.start but she has run city five and a 66, and at the moment, nobody can

:50:20. > :50:23.live with that. She probably did not expect the world record pace in the

:50:24. > :50:32.Cheruiyot, but then a slow down and she was happy to sit there. It was a

:50:33. > :50:38.question of when she would go -- in the third lap. We are not going to

:50:39. > :50:42.risk trying this, going this pace from this far out, because we won't

:50:43. > :50:47.do it and will have lost a chance of holding on for our medal. Ahmadzai

:50:48. > :50:56.are not with five laps to go leading this 5000 metres by about 30 metres.

:50:57. > :51:03.We just saw the reigning Olympic champion go out. So looking to go

:51:04. > :51:08.clear. She has knotted over three times, and the world champion go

:51:09. > :51:18.sour. -- knocked it over. Bradshaw is remaining. The next height is

:51:19. > :51:25.480. The world champion, Silva, is not one of them. Look at that. No

:51:26. > :51:38.more. We will keep an eye on that while

:51:39. > :51:43.Ayana continues to push on. Outside the 15 minute pace. Eilish McColgan

:51:44. > :51:47.is in the shape of her life and has done very well to get to the final

:51:48. > :51:52.here. She is back in the main group that does not contain the African

:51:53. > :52:01.runners here. The canyons are in their own battle for silver and

:52:02. > :52:16.bronze. -- Kenyans. She has really missed the break and has no chance.

:52:17. > :52:24.A big group run the group there. Eilish McColgan will stay in that

:52:25. > :52:31.group. She will be hoping she can get past a few at the end. Under the

:52:32. > :52:35.world record average for the Fed, tell. If she had done from the

:52:36. > :52:45.start, what you think she is capable of? -- third climate. Close to 40

:52:46. > :52:50.minutes. She came close in the last 5000 metres net 10,000 metre

:52:51. > :52:53.victory. Today she met the leader go and on the prescribed time with

:52:54. > :52:58.about eight laps to go, she decided it was time to get away. She doesn't

:52:59. > :53:02.like athletes around her and doesn't like athletes in front or behind to

:53:03. > :53:14.eating too close. She's little bit nervous about that -- getting. But

:53:15. > :53:23.Cheruiyot is now in third place. We think Ollie by is about ready to go

:53:24. > :53:30.in the pole vault. She is, Steve. -- we think Bradshaw. This could be a

:53:31. > :53:43.medal job if she goes clear. -- job. It was close. She has two more

:53:44. > :53:49.chances. She looks angry. We will keep an eye on Holly Bradshaw. Two

:53:50. > :53:53.more attempts. In the meantime, Ayana a long way ahead. She has

:53:54. > :54:04.dropped the pace a little bit at 4000 metres. She has just run a 69

:54:05. > :54:09.second -- 69 second lap. Cheruiyot with their head down. She's clear

:54:10. > :54:15.amongst the medals. We fully expect her to get a medal. Every time she

:54:16. > :54:22.comes to a tepid ship, every time since 2009, she has done it --

:54:23. > :54:30.championship. Did that 65 and 67 lap do too much damage? Now the crowd

:54:31. > :54:36.are barring. -- mooring. They see the tiny Kenyan come racing past

:54:37. > :54:41.Ayana. Cheruiyot is motoring now. She is moving away from Ayana. In

:54:42. > :54:46.the last lap, she has closed down three or four seconds or even more.

:54:47. > :54:50.There she goes around the top bend. Cheruiyot, the silver-medallist in

:54:51. > :54:55.the 10,000 metres, she has won medals in every event, but not a

:54:56. > :54:58.gold medal in the Olympic Games. Could this be her night? She will

:54:59. > :55:05.come into the finishing straight. The laps global change. It will be

:55:06. > :55:12.one that to go for Cheruiyot -- lap score will change. Involved in the

:55:13. > :55:19.fall in those seats. Running through a bit of pain. -- hits. At the

:55:20. > :55:25.front, what a shock this is. You could not get a price on Ayana not

:55:26. > :55:29.winning this 5000 metres. She was the red, red, red hot favourite to

:55:30. > :55:33.win. All of the talk was about which you break the world record? This is

:55:34. > :55:38.a mirror image of what happened in the World Championships last year.

:55:39. > :55:44.It was Ayana who took over from the prerace favourite, and now it is

:55:45. > :55:50.Cheruiyot who is looking good, looking strong. This will be a very

:55:51. > :55:54.popular win. Cheruiyot has won world titles at 5000 metres and 10,000

:55:55. > :56:00.metres. She has never won an Olympic gold. She took a couple of years out

:56:01. > :56:04.to start a family. She has come back bigger and stronger than ever. At

:56:05. > :56:11.the beginning of the season, she was being beaten by the other Kenyans,

:56:12. > :56:15.message Renault, Hellen Onsando Obiri, but now she is coming down

:56:16. > :56:20.the home straight -- Mercy Cherono. And Cheruiyot of Kenya will become

:56:21. > :56:31.the Olympic champions of 5000 metres. Gold for Kenya! A big shock.

:56:32. > :56:37.Silver for Kenya, and Ayana, she has to settle for the bronze behind

:56:38. > :56:43.Hellen Onsando Obiri. Cheruiyot is one of the great runners in the

:56:44. > :56:48.cross-country, advocate that. A punch of the fist for that. Eilish

:56:49. > :56:53.McColgan, as ever, trying her hardest, trying her best. Cheruiyot

:56:54. > :56:57.has gone through some injury problems in the last two years. With

:56:58. > :57:01.up to the 5000 metres from the steeplechase. Did really well to

:57:02. > :57:04.make it to the final. Fighting all the way to the line. She has done

:57:05. > :57:14.herself pad at the Olympic Games. Eilish McColgan just outside --

:57:15. > :57:19.proud. Well done to her. One thing you never do in athletics, and I

:57:20. > :57:22.think I might have done it in a race, is say there is only one

:57:23. > :57:28.result. We all expected Ayana to win. It does prove that the 10,000

:57:29. > :57:32.metres took a lot more out of her than people thought. They all said

:57:33. > :57:37.that was way too easy. It obviously wasn't. It obviously heard. She

:57:38. > :57:43.could not maintain it tonight. That is right, Steve. The thing about

:57:44. > :57:46.distance running, she ran a 65 second in the middle of the race.

:57:47. > :57:54.She followed it up with a 67. That was tough. Really tough. It was

:57:55. > :58:00.going to close to her limit. But Cheruiyot did not go without, but

:58:01. > :58:04.Vivian Cheruiyot ran a 65 second on the last lap. If you have a choice

:58:05. > :58:12.we run the fastest lap, it is the last butt. There goes Vivian

:58:13. > :58:16.Cheruiyot. -- last lap. It could not go to a better winner then Vivian

:58:17. > :58:22.Cheruiyot. Well done. She can celebrate. Kenya consolidate. And

:58:23. > :58:25.the crowd in the stadium can celebrate tonight -- Kenya can sell

:58:26. > :58:37.right. Back to this pole vault competition.

:58:38. > :58:41.McCarney has a clean sheet so far. No one yet has gone clear of this

:58:42. > :58:52.new height of 480. This will take the lead. -- McCartney. She does.

:58:53. > :59:02.McCartney, well, her first senior major championship. Steve Rippon on

:59:03. > :59:07.the left there, based in on UK for ages. McCartney can't believe it.

:59:08. > :59:13.That goes into the lead. Look at this. A comfortable clearance as

:59:14. > :59:18.well. Bradshaw has knocked it off once and is in bronze medal position

:59:19. > :59:26.as it stands. But what's more jumpers to come. -- lots. That will

:59:27. > :59:30.go down very well indeed in Kenya. None of them have made the 5000

:59:31. > :59:34.metre final before a national embarrassment. The women are

:59:35. > :59:42.upholding their reputation. They won the steeplechase. David Rudisha will

:59:43. > :59:46.stop but Vivian Cheruiyot, a new Olympic record as well, 14 26. But

:59:47. > :59:54.that was a great run. She never gave up. She was running a while the

:59:55. > :00:00.silver, but kept going at a good pace, and Ayana faulted. There she

:00:01. > :00:04.goes. Vivian Cheruiyot go straight past Ayana. She accelerated as you

:00:05. > :00:08.went past, which was crucial. Ayana was struggling. She had done too

:00:09. > :00:14.much and where to hide. Vivian Cheruiyot wet with the group and at

:00:15. > :00:20.times follow the leader -- worked too hard. Every time she goes to a

:00:21. > :00:23.tepid ship, she wins a medal. There is Vivian Cheruiyot, the new

:00:24. > :00:29.champion. Silver in the 10,000 metres, gold in the 5000 metres. A

:00:30. > :00:34.beautiful smile. Arms aloft. A fantastic victory for a great

:00:35. > :00:40.athlete. Silver and gold, you can't do much better than that. That will

:00:41. > :00:43.be a very, very popular win in the world of endurance running. Vivian

:00:44. > :01:01.Cheruiyot is finally an Olympic champion.

:01:02. > :01:19.A new Olympic record. McColgan finished in 13th place. She did very

:01:20. > :01:24.well to make this Olympic final. Stefanidi, second attempt, 4.80,

:01:25. > :01:27.that is a significant jump for Stefanidi. There is the event

:01:28. > :01:40.leader, McCartney. Stefanidi, has been the most

:01:41. > :01:47.consistent by far. Across the circuit, this summer. The Greek

:01:48. > :01:52.athlete goes into second place with that jump, pushes Bradshaw down to

:01:53. > :02:00.fourth. Bradshaw, can she make that clearance? Oh, just flowed into

:02:01. > :02:07.that, may have changed up polls, it looks like it is not recalling the

:02:08. > :02:11.same -- recoiling the same as it was at the lower heights. Look at the

:02:12. > :02:15.energy into that poll, and then getting back as she turned upside

:02:16. > :02:19.down, did not extend the upperbody, was not able to get on top of that

:02:20. > :02:33.poll and use the recoil as effectively. Effectively, the time

:02:34. > :02:39.was off, in simple terms. Sandi Morris, also her second attempt,

:02:40. > :02:47.4.80. Made that look easy. It was a classy jump from the American. So

:02:48. > :02:54.then. Sandi Morris with that clearance, goes into third place.

:02:55. > :03:04.Bradshaw not clear of this height yet. Three athletes have gone clear,

:03:05. > :03:10.so Bradshaw is going to have two improved on her last attempt, as we

:03:11. > :03:18.see Alana Boyd, one of the oldest in the competition, have her second

:03:19. > :03:33.attempt at 4.80. Oh, what a jump from the Australian! Gave it a feral

:03:34. > :03:37.-- fair old rattle. Good technique, that, get back and gets that recoil

:03:38. > :03:42.that I was talking about, that Bradshaw did not get. That is the

:03:43. > :03:51.difference, a second time clearance. So four athletes have gone clear of

:03:52. > :03:54.this height of 4.80. Holly Bradshaw, Scott Simson, the coach, looking on.

:03:55. > :03:59.They'll have worked so hard for this. She is looking for his nod,

:04:00. > :04:03.quite often the coaches call when the wind is right, there is none to

:04:04. > :04:09.speak of here in the Olympic Stadium. The third time of asking,

:04:10. > :04:17.this is to stay in the competition. It is better, it is close, but no.

:04:18. > :04:27.It was her best attempt of the three. The coach can't believe it.

:04:28. > :04:31.But he knows how close that was. Bradshaw appreciative of the

:04:32. > :04:42.support. Look at that, she was over. Went at it sideways on that one.

:04:43. > :04:48.Disappointment. It has come up on the system that Holly Bradshaw is in

:04:49. > :04:57.fifth place, we have seen athletes go in the past from that position,

:04:58. > :05:09.it placed her best finish in the global championships, 64 years ago

:05:10. > :05:20.sixth four years ago. That was close the Bradshaw. Her competition all

:05:21. > :05:25.over. Huge disappointment for Holly Bradshaw. She is just taking it all

:05:26. > :05:30.in and working out that she was so close to a medal of some description

:05:31. > :05:36.there. A slight improvement on the position, from a few years ago, but

:05:37. > :05:41.obviously she will be devastated. Bitterly devastated, she has worked

:05:42. > :05:44.so hard in the last few years to get to this situation, she had a

:05:45. > :05:51.fantastic qualifying, she looked really good, and that the margin of

:05:52. > :05:57.foul, not clearing that high, seem to be gutted. Took some time out to

:05:58. > :06:01.work on her fitness, had some stress fractures in her back, was great to

:06:02. > :06:09.have her back in the sport because she had such unfinished business in

:06:10. > :06:16.this event. Bitterly disappointed. This is not a happy coach. Scott

:06:17. > :06:20.Simson, they lived through every moment, don't they, coaches. They

:06:21. > :06:29.live the high times and the load times -- low times. They do live

:06:30. > :06:34.through so much with you, and the stress of watching somebody compete

:06:35. > :06:36.is much greater than the stress of actually competing out there,

:06:37. > :06:40.because when you are competing in the arena, you know what you are

:06:41. > :06:43.feeling and how much you have left, and what is feeling good and not

:06:44. > :06:48.feeling good. They just have to guess. I think he just knew how

:06:49. > :06:52.close she was, and that she had that jump in her tonight, and she knew

:06:53. > :06:56.that as well, and you can see that in the disappointment there, because

:06:57. > :07:02.she was capable of getting it right. Holly Bradshaw finishes fifth at her

:07:03. > :07:05.second Olympic Games, she is still young, there is plenty of time to

:07:06. > :07:12.get things right of the World Championships in London, let's get

:07:13. > :07:16.active is four x 400, we have not had anything more to explain what

:07:17. > :07:19.has happened, but the picture is beginning to get a little bit

:07:20. > :07:22.clearer that maybe it is to do with the handover between Matthew Hudson

:07:23. > :07:25.Smith and Martyn Rooney, and when you are put in position a certain

:07:26. > :07:30.point on the lap but you have to stay in a position to receive the

:07:31. > :07:33.baton. And in terms of Matthew Hudson Smith, he changed position

:07:34. > :07:38.and their four Martyn Rooney appeared to be in the wrong

:07:39. > :07:46.position, when it actually was not his fault. Matthew Hudson Smith was

:07:47. > :07:50.no longer in this position, and Martyn Rooney was... It would be

:07:51. > :07:55.Martyn Rooney's fault if he moved from the position he was put in...

:07:56. > :07:59.If he did not move he was not in violation. That is what we do not

:08:00. > :08:06.know, if he moved when he was put in position. But have a look at Matthew

:08:07. > :08:11.Hudson Smith's second leg. This was a fantastic leg. Hats off to Matthew

:08:12. > :08:17.Hudson Smith. Again, we think that this, coming off, was where the

:08:18. > :08:23.violation took place. Once Matthew Hudson Smith, we need to see where

:08:24. > :08:29.he is at 200, he is about 150 now, here he is now in first position, if

:08:30. > :08:34.the official places Martyn Rooney in first based on where he is at 200,

:08:35. > :08:36.he would place him in the first position, because Matthew Hudson

:08:37. > :08:41.Smith was winning by that point. Now we are coming up on 100 metres to

:08:42. > :08:46.go, at this point Matthew Hudson Smith is in second place, and if

:08:47. > :08:50.they put Martyn Rooney in second position, he would need to stay

:08:51. > :08:52.there, if he then moved back that would be the violation. We don't

:08:53. > :08:58.know what happened, we can't see that full up from the shot that we

:08:59. > :09:02.saw the back of all the guys ready to receive, nobody appeared to have

:09:03. > :09:09.just moved, they appeared to be very much ready and waiting. Nobody

:09:10. > :09:13.appears to have moved, but when you... Martyn has run the last leg

:09:14. > :09:17.so many times that he would have known that once they get to the 200

:09:18. > :09:22.metre mark you are not allowed to move. And so he would have been set.

:09:23. > :09:27.That is what I am not quite sure of, because we do this in the US in

:09:28. > :09:33.college or the time, coaches will tell you, don't move, because

:09:34. > :09:37.instinctively what you do is, " oh my gosh, I'm first, I want to get

:09:38. > :09:46.back into first place." Instinctively you want to be on the

:09:47. > :09:50.side if your guy is... But he didn't clear because they were still there.

:09:51. > :09:53.There was a time when you used to be able to jostle for position, but

:09:54. > :09:57.they stopped that, and this is the new ruling. They have to be fixed,

:09:58. > :10:04.they have to wait, regardless of if Matthew Hudson Smith went back to

:10:05. > :10:11.sixth, at 200 metres, here he is receiving his bat on, Williams was

:10:12. > :10:15.in fourth place when it was the 200. And he has not moved to any of the

:10:16. > :10:18.higher positions. That is the perfect illustration of it. I think

:10:19. > :10:24.it is an error from the officials, but I know we do have to wait,

:10:25. > :10:27.but... All kinds of conspiracy theories are abounding, it was one

:10:28. > :10:32.of the team that will benefit from this is Brazil, their quartet would

:10:33. > :10:36.be into the final, and Twitter is awash with the kinds of conspiracy

:10:37. > :10:41.theories that this is some kind of greater force at play here. But if,

:10:42. > :10:45.as we think, it is a simple mistake, it is something that can be quite

:10:46. > :10:50.clearly sorted out, because it has all been... There will absolutely be

:10:51. > :10:56.an appeal by the British team, we will find out, I have not been

:10:57. > :11:01.involved in some of speculation as I have over the past 20 minutes, it is

:11:02. > :11:06.just tremendous amount of speculation. We just need to wait

:11:07. > :11:09.and see what happens. There will be some more discussion about this, and

:11:10. > :11:23.there is combat a very different kind, potentially a golden kind,

:11:24. > :11:29.Italo Muhamed is going for gold -- Muhammad, the bronze medallist at

:11:30. > :11:38.London 2012 is going for a leather gold very shortly. This is his story

:11:39. > :11:45.so far. It is the start that great Britain would have wanted. 3-point

:11:46. > :11:53.brickie to the head. So feisty from Muhamed, attacking. Steven Lopez

:11:54. > :11:58.against Lutalo Muhammad, this is for a spot in Ely began semi-final.

:11:59. > :12:07.Should -- in dealing big games semi-final. -- in the Olympic Games.

:12:08. > :12:18.What a game plan and execution. The semi-final, Lutalo Muhammad... And

:12:19. > :12:25.big bronze for Mohamed in London -- Muhamed. Lutalo Muhammad in the

:12:26. > :12:31.final, he has gone further than the last Olympic Games, that was

:12:32. > :12:39.brilliant. He has a fantastic smile, let's hope he is smiling very

:12:40. > :12:50.shortly, it could be Great Britain's 25th of metal, it is at that Carioca

:12:51. > :12:55.arena, Gold yesterday evening when Jade Jones struck gold, no pressure.

:12:56. > :13:00.Pressure is something that Lutalo Muhammad survives on. Against all

:13:01. > :13:05.the pressure that he faced going into those games in London on many

:13:06. > :13:09.people thought it should have been the then world number one who should

:13:10. > :13:12.have been picked, he put all of that to one side, all the abuse he got

:13:13. > :13:18.ahead of those games, he went on to win a medal for Great Britain.

:13:19. > :13:28.Outside the top five world rankings, he has turned it on this week, at

:13:29. > :13:33.this event, the elliptic champion, an impressive win to get through to

:13:34. > :13:40.the final and he wants to carry that on. Is that summing that has

:13:41. > :13:42.impressed you, you have been following Lutalo Muhammad since

:13:43. > :13:49.2012, is that something that has really impressed you, the way he has

:13:50. > :13:53.bounced back? It was a defining moment for him. Prior to that, not

:13:54. > :13:59.many people had known a great deal about him, and from a character

:14:00. > :14:06.perspective, he was so tough, it was not his fault, all this controversy

:14:07. > :14:13.-- controversy, he was on the point of going to the Court of arbitration

:14:14. > :14:16.for sport, he got all that abuse, he got the bronze medal, and since then

:14:17. > :14:22.he is trying to move the sport on. He is a very confident character, he

:14:23. > :14:26.walks out on the arena, he is proud to represent Great he wants to get

:14:27. > :14:28.out there, and get the crowd on side. As you can hear at the moment

:14:29. > :14:34.there are various voices creeping in, to my left them the Koreans are

:14:35. > :14:37.going on little crazy right now because they have just won an

:14:38. > :14:47.Olympic gold, and tae kwon do hails from South Korea. A little bit

:14:48. > :14:57.earlier today they were backing the Korean fighter who beat the German

:14:58. > :15:04.in the finals, and he wants to win over the Brazilian fans here. The

:15:05. > :15:20.world under three, the African champion, this is a tough fight for

:15:21. > :15:26.Lutalo Muhammad. Cisse has won both of their matches, quite

:15:27. > :15:32.convincingly. This is far from straightforward, and a bit of tae

:15:33. > :15:44.kwon do symmetry, Jade Jones one Great Britain's 25th in London in

:15:45. > :15:45.2012, it would be Lutalo Muhammad winning Great Britain's 25th

:15:46. > :15:57.tonight. The women are coming out for the

:15:58. > :16:03.four times 100 metre final. You have just missed the girls being

:16:04. > :16:09.introduced. They do a kind of Quartet return. At Beijing, the USA

:16:10. > :16:16.today Charlie's Angels montage, which left the rest of the world

:16:17. > :16:20.standing. A teddy bear could live up to that. I was just looking down and

:16:21. > :16:27.did not see much action -- I don't think they could. Last time was

:16:28. > :16:30.pretty special. Here come the Brits. They have definitely improved on

:16:31. > :16:37.last year. Some kind of choreography going on. That was a little bit

:16:38. > :16:45.better. I thought that was great. Simple and clean. Andrew Carter will

:16:46. > :16:50.be calling this. I'm sure he would like to commentate on the routines.

:16:51. > :16:55.I would love to! Germany had their hands in air, just didn't care.

:16:56. > :17:03.Nigeria have gone for that as well. Great Britain were quite practised.

:17:04. > :17:09.Canada, what are they up to? One of those as well. Excellent. And the

:17:10. > :17:13.USA, we had talks of them doing Charlie's Angels, they were

:17:14. > :17:17.tremendously impressive in their choreography in the Beijing World

:17:18. > :17:21.Championships. We will also be disappointed. But it is business as

:17:22. > :17:28.usual for the United States. Serious stuff tonight. The United States, in

:17:29. > :17:34.here courtesy of a sultry time trial. We will talk more about that

:17:35. > :17:37.in a moment -- solitary. They have the worst blame because they had to

:17:38. > :17:47.come through a time trial after initially being disqualified. That

:17:48. > :17:53.was for dropping the baton. There is Dina Asher-Smith, part of this

:17:54. > :17:57.polished Quartet. Run well in the heats the second fastest British

:17:58. > :18:03.time ever. So it is Philip, Henry, and Daryll Neita on the anchor leg.

:18:04. > :18:07.Perhaps a changeover from Philip to Henry was a bit side-by-side in the

:18:08. > :18:13.heat. But there is Daryll Neita, who will bring Great Britain and

:18:14. > :18:16.Northern Ireland home. Great Britain and Northern Ireland have not won a

:18:17. > :18:23.medal in this event since the Los Angeles games in 1994, a bronze

:18:24. > :18:29.medal there. The faster various four times 100 to come in just a few

:18:30. > :18:35.minutes. -- fast and furious. Ekaterini Stefanidi at the bar, 485.

:18:36. > :18:50.She has knocked it over once. Second attempt. That is how they do it.

:18:51. > :18:57.Consistency told, 485, second clearance. Any. -- for Stefanidi.

:18:58. > :19:06.This goes into the lead. Great clearance. So the women four times

:19:07. > :19:19.100 metre final. Ukraine in lane eight. Trinidad Tobago, three out

:19:20. > :19:25.of four completed in London. Jamaica, Williams leads the map.

:19:26. > :19:35.Thompson comes in at lane two. Does not get the glory leg, perhaps. Asha

:19:36. > :19:38.Philip, carrying the hopes of great Britain and Northern Ireland. Look

:19:39. > :19:44.out for this Quartet, from Germany. The fastest time in Mannheim just

:19:45. > :19:57.weeks ago. Nigeria not as strong as recent seasons. Not at her best on

:19:58. > :20:03.the second leg. Canada, and the United States. World record setters

:20:04. > :20:18.in London on their way to the gold medal. Gold in the long jump, this

:20:19. > :20:24.one. Asha Philip will lead out Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The

:20:25. > :20:28.only big title in this event has been spread over the Bahamas,

:20:29. > :20:33.Jamaica, Russia and the United States in the last four in the

:20:34. > :20:39.games. Lane one for the United States because of the problems in

:20:40. > :20:43.qualifying. Canada, and Amsterdam, 1928, the last time it is the one

:20:44. > :20:54.from that lane. -- has been won. A lot of noise in the stadium as the

:20:55. > :21:00.pole vault continues, but the way they go. The United States in lane

:21:01. > :21:04.one. Jamaica in lane six. Great Britain just inside looking for the

:21:05. > :21:09.changeover. It is strong from Philip to Henry. Germany are looking quick.

:21:10. > :21:14.Great Britain and Northern Ireland in a strong position. Jamaica in the

:21:15. > :21:18.lead. Dina Asher-Smith has it now. United States looking very quick

:21:19. > :21:22.now. Around the bend they come. Gardner and your time. The United

:21:23. > :21:28.States leads. Jamaica in second. Great Britain in there. But the

:21:29. > :21:37.United States running for gold. Humphreys a surprise the silver. The

:21:38. > :21:42.United States have it. 41.02, blisteringly quick. She brings them

:21:43. > :21:48.home for gold. Jamaica to be silver. And Great Britain have the bronze

:21:49. > :21:55.medal! First medal in this event since 1984. But number one, they

:21:56. > :21:59.say, and they are number one, the United States. The celebrations for

:22:00. > :22:05.Great Britain and Northern Ireland, a new record. A new British record

:22:06. > :22:11.has taken them to that bronze medal. What a run from them. Realistically,

:22:12. > :22:14.you are always going to struggle to keep up with the United States and

:22:15. > :22:19.Jamaica, but that was a wonderful run. The most important thing, the

:22:20. > :22:23.real unity they showed together. Very familiar with each other. They

:22:24. > :22:28.know all of the ins and outs, where they will be, how that will drive

:22:29. > :22:32.out of the start position. This will always be brilliant and crucial for

:22:33. > :22:35.them to get what they got. They have done that well. The United States

:22:36. > :22:39.did all the damage done the back straight. Phillips held Thompson so

:22:40. > :22:44.well and gave a great baton changeover and that is why they won

:22:45. > :22:48.the title. Look what it means to Desiree Henry. Tears streaming down

:22:49. > :22:52.her face. We will have a look at the whole race. Again, we like to look

:22:53. > :22:57.at the baton changes and see if there was anywhere else could have

:22:58. > :23:00.been improved. I'm not sure they could have been for Great Britain

:23:01. > :23:04.and Northern Ireland. A national record for that bronze medal. That

:23:05. > :23:08.is what it means. Behind the United States and Jamaica. There will

:23:09. > :23:12.always be far and away. A bronze medal is a great achievement here.

:23:13. > :23:20.One of the best things about this, the oldest person in their team,

:23:21. > :23:24.she's 25. 25 years old, Phillips. Apart from that, Henry, takes the

:23:25. > :23:29.baton here and runs their well against Thomson, she's just 20. She

:23:30. > :23:37.passes the baton on to Dina Asher-Smith, who is 20! She runs a

:23:38. > :23:45.storming racier. -- race here. She has an Olympic champion outside her.

:23:46. > :23:50.Great job. Heading the baton on, to a 19-year-old. They have managed to

:23:51. > :23:56.get an Olympic bronze medal. A brilliant performance by them. In

:23:57. > :24:07.the inside lane, she was never going to let anyone pass. Not making any

:24:08. > :24:15.difference in that lane. Not too far from their own record they set in

:24:16. > :24:22.London. Price moving away from Danny Anita. Those are the one, two,

:24:23. > :24:27.three. United States take it again. Is with the strength of Thompson and

:24:28. > :24:33.price, they have the silver, Jamaica. And Great Britain holding

:24:34. > :24:36.off Germany. And you will hear from the British quartet shortly, but now

:24:37. > :24:44.the tae kwon do. More reaction on that historic

:24:45. > :24:52.bronze medal shortly. Let's take you straight to the tae kwon do.

:24:53. > :25:00.The Olympic rings high on the rafter, the two will be highest on

:25:01. > :25:05.the podium? Lutalo Muhammad, the 25-year-old from Walthamstow in

:25:06. > :25:12.London. His father got him into the sport. Started when he was three

:25:13. > :25:16.years of age. He finished third in London and is guaranteed to do

:25:17. > :25:21.better here. Standing in the way of gold, fairly on the march, Cheick

:25:22. > :25:33.Sallah Cisse. He is from the Ivory Coast. 22 years old. He takes the

:25:34. > :25:38.centrestage already. In terms of head-to-heads, the men from the

:25:39. > :25:45.Ivory Coast is leading 2-0 against Lutalo Muhammad. Will it be revenge?

:25:46. > :25:46.Lutalo Muhammad in blue, Cheick Sallah Cisse from the Ivory Coast is

:25:47. > :26:02.in red. Stephen Jennings, the British trade,

:26:03. > :26:06.some final words of encouragement. A massive occasion, first time in a

:26:07. > :26:13.major final, an Olympic final. He will want to get revenge. Cheick

:26:14. > :26:20.Sallah Cisse 2-0 at the moment, but what a time to pull it back. Will it

:26:21. > :26:24.be the time for Cheick Sallah Cisse or will it be time for the men in

:26:25. > :26:33.blue, Lutalo Muhammad? Fairly respectful fighter. The centre

:26:34. > :26:40.referee for this gold medal contest, the men's 80 kg welterweight. This

:26:41. > :26:44.one for gold. Cheick Sallah Cisse in red, and Lutalo Muhammad puts his

:26:45. > :26:49.opponent on his back straightaway. That'll be handy. Two of those will

:26:50. > :26:54.see a point added to the British athlete. Cheick Sallah Cisse just

:26:55. > :27:03.checking out the distance. Slightly beat all of the two. Standing up at

:27:04. > :27:09.six foot four -- the taller. Millimetres can make the difference

:27:10. > :27:13.in this battle. Straightaway, great atmosphere and a good start from

:27:14. > :27:20.Lutalo Muhammad. There is strong, wasn't it? Knocked him off his feet.

:27:21. > :27:25.-- very strong. It will be a point against, but he good and strong

:27:26. > :27:31.start there. Good strong punch from Cheick Sallah Cisse. You heard the

:27:32. > :27:39.punch, you could hear the cry as well. Lutalo Muhammad is showing

:27:40. > :27:43.great confidence and composure here. Cheick Sallah Cisse had the crowd on

:27:44. > :27:48.his side at the start. Lutalo Muhammad doing well just to subdue

:27:49. > :27:54.things here. Patience is a virtue, and that punch almost brooding

:27:55. > :28:01.pivotal bear. -- proving pivotal bear. An engaging battle so far.

:28:02. > :28:05.Yes, engaging and a little bit tactical here. They are trying to

:28:06. > :28:10.feel each other out. They don't want to make mistakes, you can see that.

:28:11. > :28:17.Over reaching a little bit with the punch. Holding the lead on the

:28:18. > :28:25.inside, and the referee sees it. -- leg. Nothing to choose between them.

:28:26. > :28:30.In an open stance, clashing. Tries a punch again. All the time going

:28:31. > :28:37.through with the punch. Not enough force. Not enough accuracy or force

:28:38. > :28:44.to get through that long leg of the six foot four Ivory Coast men. A

:28:45. > :28:49.headshot from Lutalo Muhammad landing over, all lending on the

:28:50. > :28:55.head. Three point two the good with 60 seconds. What a time to get three

:28:56. > :28:59.points. Just waiting there. It was like he stretched over. Totally

:29:00. > :29:04.agree with that. Tactical from Lutalo Muhammad. Almost sneaks

:29:05. > :29:09.another one in there. He invited the back leg kick and snuck upstairs for

:29:10. > :29:20.the 3-point shot. An excellent opening salvo here.

:29:21. > :29:27.The crowd are building atmosphere at the arena. In downtown Rio for the

:29:28. > :29:33.Olympic tae kwon do. Looking good at the moment. We reached towards the

:29:34. > :29:38.dying embers of this first round. Lutalo Muhammad, what a wonder. The

:29:39. > :29:43.him. A great start for him. Wonder what the coaching staff will say to

:29:44. > :29:48.him. -- what a wonderful start for him.

:29:49. > :29:58.Stephen Jennings doing some advice there, likewise the courage from the

:29:59. > :30:06.Ivory Coast. That is the one that caught his jaw. A key to the face is

:30:07. > :30:12.three points. -- coach. A double kick, and one way then the other.

:30:13. > :30:13.Great change of direction. Direction of the match could swing on that

:30:14. > :30:27.one. They have obviously studied Cheick

:30:28. > :30:34.Sallah Cisse, the British team. Likewise team Ivory Coast, this one

:30:35. > :30:39.a real battle. The under 80 kg gold medal contest, Lutalo Muhammad of

:30:40. > :30:42.Great Britain against Cheick Sallah Cisse, the taller man. Slightly

:30:43. > :30:47.further back. Lutalo Muhammad go straight for it. Very aggressive

:30:48. > :30:51.start. He is here to win and determined not just to defend. He

:30:52. > :30:55.has been trying to get past that front leg. That front leg of Cheick

:30:56. > :31:01.Sallah Cisse. When he springs of the back leg, sometimes, that is how he

:31:02. > :31:06.scores. With that headshot. Exactly. It is that open stance, a little

:31:07. > :31:11.shot their from the men from the Ivory Coast. Almost scoring, so

:31:12. > :31:19.plenty to think about for both men. Plenty of time to go for it. Gets

:31:20. > :31:24.caught on the inside. It will go to Cheick Sallah Cisse, and that'll

:31:25. > :31:31.help Lutalo Muhammad's cause no end. Four to the good now.

:31:32. > :31:40.Huge tension, the Olympic final here. Lutalo Muhammad took a bronze

:31:41. > :31:46.medal in London, he now takes a back to 3-point game, gold or silver at

:31:47. > :31:51.stake, big punch from Cisse. This one really hotting up. It is really

:31:52. > :31:55.hotting up. It was bound to, wasn't it. You can just have a look at it

:31:56. > :32:01.now. But to make up those three points. He is attacking fighter,

:32:02. > :32:08.Cisse. He has that pedigree, he has that quality. Muhammad tries a

:32:09. > :32:20.little sneaky Bacchic around the corner, punches and closes.

:32:21. > :32:27.I have seen other related finals, where they just score and then hold

:32:28. > :32:31.off, they don't have to go forwards, it is not a show necessarily for the

:32:32. > :32:39.other... Great show there from Cisse. A bill to passive, the back

:32:40. > :32:45.kick fires through, Lutalo Muhammad now out of the traps, coming across

:32:46. > :32:54.the ring, a 4-point game, both men back tied up in the middle. What an

:32:55. > :32:58.atmosphere to fight in here. The crowd really getting into this. He

:32:59. > :33:02.was out of the blocks they are. That just change the game completely.

:33:03. > :33:10.Keeps grabbing the leg, had to be careful air. Very important there,

:33:11. > :33:13.to maintain discipline. Cheick Sallah Cisse is doing the best to

:33:14. > :33:19.change the tempo here. He was a head shot down, used to back it to get

:33:20. > :33:24.back into it, both men leaning back, surveying their options. The gap

:33:25. > :33:28.between them, the measure of their ambition. Who has the courage to go

:33:29. > :33:33.forward, stick or twist, and they stick together at the end of the

:33:34. > :33:38.second round. Reckless stuff here. The last round always seems to

:33:39. > :33:43.unearth something, and they are that both going to have to go for it. It

:33:44. > :33:51.will both be fighting for that Olympic title, and that is the key.

:33:52. > :33:59.No question about it. Two minutes, indeed, to decide the destination of

:34:00. > :34:07.this gold. It is frenetic stuff, a festival of footwork and fighting, a

:34:08. > :34:22.couple of big punches as well. That 3-point score their just right in

:34:23. > :34:28.the ribs. Cheick Sallah Cisse, some last bits of advice from the coach.

:34:29. > :34:31.Stephen Jennings and Lutalo Muhammad, the coaches have done

:34:32. > :34:36.their work, their charges are out this is the gold-medal contest,

:34:37. > :34:40.Lutalo Muhammad is in blue, Cheick Sallah Cisse is in red, the taller

:34:41. > :34:44.of the two. The formalities dispensed with, it is time to fight

:34:45. > :34:56.and for Cisse to slip over again. Same start as that first round. That

:34:57. > :34:59.is what he wants to do and then try and pick up the points. Tries to

:35:00. > :35:11.land the big punch there, Lutalo Muhammad. Starting well. The tempo

:35:12. > :35:18.set by the British fighter who looks to be in top condition. He tries

:35:19. > :35:26.with a big jump in shot through there,. Just 1.5 minutes to go. It

:35:27. > :35:37.is anybody's match now. Who wants it most? It will come down to tenacity

:35:38. > :35:42.and desire. We have seen the skill, it is now time to check their will

:35:43. > :35:46.and courage. Both men had battled hard to get the year. The

:35:47. > :35:50.qualification was arduous, and the route to the final perilous. Who is

:35:51. > :35:53.going to take the big brown here, the Olympic champion will emerge

:35:54. > :36:00.from this fight -- the big crown here. The punch again there from

:36:01. > :36:14.Lutalo Muhammad. The only noise audible above the coaches, tension

:36:15. > :36:26.here is massive. I think it will be decided on a head shot. That was

:36:27. > :36:32.close. The footwork first, here is a shot from Lutalo Muhammad on the

:36:33. > :36:41.inside, with the... Yes. The point is invalidated, grabbing the leg on

:36:42. > :36:48.the inside. That brings it, 45 seconds left. He had done it a few

:36:49. > :37:00.times, taking the leg as he comes in. That has cost him dearly there

:37:01. > :37:02.with that. Four points each, into the latter reaches of this, the

:37:03. > :37:09.business end of the gold-medal contest. The 80 kg gripping punch

:37:10. > :37:14.from Muhammad, not much steam left in that one. Casting Ferrer, both

:37:15. > :37:20.men working so hard... There is a head shot from Lutalo Muhammad, he

:37:21. > :37:26.has knocked that headgear halfway down Copacabana. Will it score, it

:37:27. > :37:29.is the domain of electronic sensors, there are sensors inside the head

:37:30. > :37:36.guard. This could be huge controversy. If it hits the face,

:37:37. > :37:42.you can ask for a replay. If it hits the head guard, it is up to the

:37:43. > :37:47.technology to score. How laughable would the technology look if this

:37:48. > :37:51.does not score. That head guard was kicked like a football down the

:37:52. > :37:55.street. How far is he going to hit the head guard. Here we go again.

:37:56. > :38:01.The only thing there perhaps, the use of the hand on the way through,

:38:02. > :38:05.perhaps flicking up to lift it off, let's give the referees and judges a

:38:06. > :38:09.chance to look at this one, unsuccessful, looking at the video

:38:10. > :38:21.replay, the initial opinion was wrong. We did not see the hand, did

:38:22. > :38:32.we. That is the benefit of the video replay. Now 6-4 to the man from

:38:33. > :38:41.Great Britain. 6-4 and everything to fight for now. Got to keep his

:38:42. > :38:47.composure than from the Ivory Coast, can he produce a miracle. -- the man

:38:48. > :38:55.from the Ivory Coast. He has been strong all day, he is one second

:38:56. > :38:58.away here, Lutalo Muhammad. Could this be pivotal, Lutalo Muhammad,

:38:59. > :39:03.closes down, blocks, and there is a head shot in the last second from

:39:04. > :39:11.Cheick Sallah Cisse, the man from the Ivory Coast finds the win and at

:39:12. > :39:15.the last second, what a turnaround, he fought to the finish, Cheick

:39:16. > :39:19.Sallah Cisse is your man, Cheick Sallah Cisse is the man, Lutalo

:39:20. > :39:25.Muhammad could not hang on, he fought so perfectly all they, but in

:39:26. > :39:33.the last second it is a silver medal for Great Britain's metallic Hamid

:39:34. > :39:42.-- Lutalo Muhammad. Grow a Cisse Jr, the Olympic champion. -- Cheick

:39:43. > :39:45.Sallah Cisse. We had seen everything now, Cheick Sallah Cisse, in the

:39:46. > :39:52.last second produces a gold-medal winning reverse... Absolutely the

:39:53. > :39:56.last second of that contest. He just, he just kept going forward,

:39:57. > :40:01.and it just goes to show that that last-minute can change everything.

:40:02. > :40:06.Not only that, it was the last second in the end, to win the

:40:07. > :40:11.Olympic title, he stole it. And that was incredible. While. A wonderful

:40:12. > :40:16.victory there, takes two men to fight, Lutalo Muhammad excellent all

:40:17. > :40:22.the way through, he had one hand on the gold-medal, this man has both of

:40:23. > :40:26.them. Cheick Sallah Cisse, wonderful movement and in the last second,

:40:27. > :40:34.that reversed Tommy kit which is worth four points, -- kick. Worth

:40:35. > :40:40.its weight in gold. Cheick Sallah Cisse, Ivory Coast, wonderful win.

:40:41. > :40:43.There is Olympic champion. There is the land that champion. Utterly

:40:44. > :40:47.heartbreaking, and I am sure you have seen many amazing incredible

:40:48. > :40:51.Olympic moments, but that must surely be right up there, heartbreak

:40:52. > :40:57.for Lutalo Muhammad, he had his finger on the gold-medal, and lost

:40:58. > :41:02.it, we will be hearing from Lutalo Muhammad very shortly. We are ready

:41:03. > :41:07.for the four x 100 metre men's relay final, which is quite literally the

:41:08. > :41:12.final act, not just of the evening, of Usain Bolt was Mac Olympic

:41:13. > :41:18.career. Here they are, to being introduced to the crowd. Quite a

:41:19. > :41:23.straightforward no-nonsense choreographed routine now, USA

:41:24. > :41:30.Michael, you are not quite so happy with this. You got to do a little

:41:31. > :41:34.more than that. That was weak. I was disappointed in the Jamaicans and

:41:35. > :41:39.the US. They need to stay focused now. This was bitterly

:41:40. > :41:43.disappointing, it is the home crowd full of it is the Brazilians, it was

:41:44. > :41:51.the home crowd, what the Brazilians were waiting for. And here we go,

:41:52. > :41:58.they made us wait, they teased us, what have Great Britain got? A

:41:59. > :42:04.better fist pumping. I think the women were definitely more

:42:05. > :42:13.choreographed. What a moment. This is it, Usain Bolt, the triple triple

:42:14. > :42:20.beckons. The end of his Olympic career, and what a career. But can

:42:21. > :42:24.somebody come and spoil the party? This has all the hallmarks of a

:42:25. > :42:34.classic four x 100 metre relay final. Trinidad have got a cracking

:42:35. > :42:40.team, that have got a great team, there are others who are in here as

:42:41. > :42:43.well. Including Japan, a new national record in qualification,

:42:44. > :42:49.almost half a second off your previous best. That is quicker than

:42:50. > :43:02.Great Britain have ever run. Jamaica, what about this team. The

:43:03. > :43:11.supper PAL -- Asafa PAL. -- Asafa Powell. What about last year when

:43:12. > :43:16.Mike Rogers and Tyson Gay messed it up, now they get to go as one in

:43:17. > :43:22.three. Brazil are in lane two. Great Britain have made it to the final,

:43:23. > :43:27.the only time, the only other time since 1992 that we made it to the

:43:28. > :43:38.final, we won the gold-medal in 2004. We are in lane one, some

:43:39. > :43:47.riders missing, it will be Gemili on the last leg. Usain Bolt waits, and

:43:48. > :43:59.he watches. Please ring me the baton. -- bring me. Great Britain

:44:00. > :44:05.lane one, Brazil and two, USA lane three, Jamaica lane four, Japan lane

:44:06. > :44:10.five, China lane six, Canada lane seven, Trinidad Tobago lane eight.

:44:11. > :44:15.The men's four x 100 metre final. Asafa Powell leading to make our

:44:16. > :44:20.way, Mike Rogers the quick start, trying to taking down. Richard Kelty

:44:21. > :44:28.going to Great Britain. It is a decent chase for Jamaica. Justin

:44:29. > :44:32.Gatlin on the outside. Watch the changes, not such a good one for

:44:33. > :44:35.Jamaica. A little bit out of it at the moment. Bolt is going to get

:44:36. > :44:41.this but on level with the USA and Japan. Who is going to win this one?

:44:42. > :44:46.USA in the lead, but Bolt has got it, and Usain Bolt is doing what he

:44:47. > :44:53.always does, bringing it home for Jamaica! It is gold again! 37.27 the

:44:54. > :45:06.winning time. The triple triple, he has done it! History, history,

:45:07. > :45:16.history, history. Usain Bolt! The greatest ever. Japan and, -- Japan

:45:17. > :45:19.ran an incredible race. You are not going to run Usain Bolt down at the

:45:20. > :45:27.end, but Japan beating the USA for the silver medal. He was relying on

:45:28. > :45:33.his old friends, he was relying on the supper PAL -- Asafa Powell, he

:45:34. > :45:41.was relying on Ashmead, he was relying on Blake. They have their

:45:42. > :45:49.part to play, in delivering this script that we all wanted to see.

:45:50. > :45:54.Really, they should proclaim him the eighth wonder of the world. He is,

:45:55. > :46:00.and has been, and forever will be, the greatest Olympic track and field

:46:01. > :46:06.athlete we have ever seen, and we are all privileged to have been here

:46:07. > :46:10.throughout his career, and watch his political form and is -- Olympic

:46:11. > :46:21.performances. So many people in this stadium will

:46:22. > :46:28.be able to say I was there the day he won his ninth, yes night, Olympic

:46:29. > :46:33.medal. -- night. What was great about that race was we had to see

:46:34. > :46:39.Usain Bolt. It was a great race. It was close, Colin. There was always a

:46:40. > :46:46.worry, I don't know how big a worry it was, that the other three may be

:46:47. > :46:53.given too much to do, the USA might not be as good, but in the end, he

:46:54. > :46:59.is just too good. He is just a fantastic athlete. With a support

:47:00. > :47:04.cast who were equally as good. Again, slick baton changes working.

:47:05. > :47:09.This is what is in the Japanese team get that silver medal. Incredible

:47:10. > :47:14.performances. Six teams went under 38 seconds. Six teams. That tells

:47:15. > :47:21.you the quality of this race. Incredible! Once you sent -- is a

:47:22. > :47:24.bold but that the time, he had to get past a pen, and once he was in

:47:25. > :47:30.that. On strike, there was nobody that would catch him -- had to get

:47:31. > :47:37.past Japan, at once he was in that stride. A really great person and

:47:38. > :47:41.athlete. Usain Bolt, we are happy you have done what you have done,

:47:42. > :47:49.and we are ultimately pleased we have witnessed the majority. Is

:47:50. > :47:57.there a better site in sport? Usain Bolt in full flow, but on in hand.

:47:58. > :48:03.Gold medal beckoning. -- the time. The finishing line he has owned

:48:04. > :48:09.through his whole career. Great Britain, as Colin said, still ran

:48:10. > :48:12.under 38 seconds, and they will tell us that is a record following one.

:48:13. > :48:17.They are probably right. Michael, what did you make of that? Usain

:48:18. > :48:23.Bolt has done it, but this was an incredible race. Nobody dropped the

:48:24. > :48:28.baton. The US were in it. Japan was in. We knew they had a great two.

:48:29. > :48:32.Jamaica just needed to get it around to Usain Bolt. Watch the Japanese

:48:33. > :48:39.team on the outside Jamaica. They have been running well all year

:48:40. > :48:42.long. Nobody expected this. Colin said Usain Bolt might have to chase

:48:43. > :48:47.someone, we thought it might be the Americans, but it was the Japanese

:48:48. > :48:54.team. Very impressive by them. Usain Bolt completing the triple triple.

:48:55. > :48:59.Very disappointing for the US team. That last hand off was not great.

:49:00. > :49:10.Bianca did not run well in the 100 metre final either. -- the ankle.

:49:11. > :49:13.The Usain Bolt ran well all the way. Fantastic performance for him at

:49:14. > :49:19.this checking chip and I'm sure he is relieved, overjoyed and extremely

:49:20. > :49:26.happy with that -- championship. It is testimony to Usain Bolt that

:49:27. > :49:34.2008, 2012, 2016, he has got himself not only in shape, because obviously

:49:35. > :49:37.he is such a great athlete, but all of the problems he may have had with

:49:38. > :49:42.injuries, especially in recent years, he has got himself to the

:49:43. > :49:48.starlight. As Michael said, not even a hint of silver or bronze, hold all

:49:49. > :49:51.the way -- start line. Lane one was the problem of Great Britain. They

:49:52. > :49:56.didn't really do anything wrong. Just managed to get the baton to add

:49:57. > :50:01.to at the end. But it has been a frustrating athletics for Adam

:50:02. > :50:05.Gemili. I read the Bay have anything to worry about in terms of being

:50:06. > :50:10.criticised the exact I don't think they have. Lane one, incredible.

:50:11. > :50:15.They should be really proud. What I like about them, they will still

:50:16. > :50:19.criticise themselves. They will still be reaching for improvement.

:50:20. > :50:28.As you say, there is no criticism from us. They did a great job

:50:29. > :50:32.getting to the final and delivering. Well, Richard, you had that terrible

:50:33. > :50:37.lane one draw that you talked about yesterday, you gave it your all.

:50:38. > :50:43.Under 38 seconds. It shows the quality you are up against. Yeah, we

:50:44. > :50:50.ran our hearts out. We said going into this we would put every inch of

:50:51. > :50:56.effort in. We all have trust in each other and we ran our heart out. We

:50:57. > :51:01.came up short, but we are proud of each other. There is not much more

:51:02. > :51:09.we can say, but I'm really proud of the guys and I love every single one

:51:10. > :51:12.of them. Can't really say much more. With the lane one draw, we are

:51:13. > :51:17.confident you could still be in the mix? Yet, I think you saw we were.

:51:18. > :51:20.We gave it our all. It is disappointing because we put a lot

:51:21. > :51:24.of work into this and it means a lot. We have come together as a

:51:25. > :51:28.team. We know each other well and are practically family. You see a

:51:29. > :51:32.lot of people put their hearts on the line. We love this board. We

:51:33. > :51:37.love one another and spend a lot of time together -- sport. We went into

:51:38. > :51:42.this as a team with the other guys at the back. We all wanted the same

:51:43. > :51:44.thing. We came out on what you saw were four guys with a massive squad

:51:45. > :51:50.behind them putting their heart on the line. James, we will talk about

:51:51. > :51:56.the team ethic and squad effort they got you through to this point? It

:51:57. > :52:07.has been since the beginning of the year. We have all of the guys, but

:52:08. > :52:13.it's a must. -- loads of us. Any format of us in the final, it is a

:52:14. > :52:18.blessing to be here. -- only format. Ending up six of the Olympics, we

:52:19. > :52:25.ran such a fast time in London and the anniversary games and you knew

:52:26. > :52:27.we were in shape, and you can say what you like about lanes, but we

:52:28. > :52:31.showed our potential. It is disappointing and heartbreaking. We

:52:32. > :52:36.know we have the capability of winning. A sense of frustration,

:52:37. > :52:43.especially when you see teams like pen, not exec becoming out of

:52:44. > :52:49.nowhere, but springing a surprise on the Americans -- Japan. It is a real

:52:50. > :52:54.shame after yesterday, coming back late to the village. All of the guys

:52:55. > :52:58.were out. I got there about half one in the morning and everybody was

:52:59. > :53:03.waiting. We have such a great team spirit this year. We just feel

:53:04. > :53:11.really disappointed for the guys on the sideline and everyone at home

:53:12. > :53:16.that we could not deliver a medal. We got around but it wasn't fast

:53:17. > :53:19.enough today. We can just give it our best and take from there. We

:53:20. > :53:26.know you gave it your all. Thank you.

:53:27. > :53:33.They will be back for more. They are clearly a hungry quartet. Jamaica

:53:34. > :53:38.are not hungry any more. They have well and truly been satisfied

:53:39. > :53:43.tonight. Called the Jamaica and NI Olympic gold for Usain Bolt. -- gold

:53:44. > :53:49.for Jamaica and a night Olympic gold. A tremendous relay. A lot of

:53:50. > :53:53.dancing as you can imagine. We will be back here to hear from the

:53:54. > :54:01.Jamaicans and see a little bit more of the parting. First we will go to

:54:02. > :54:07.Jason with the aftermath of that Lutalo Muhammad fight which ended so

:54:08. > :54:10.dramatically -- partying. What a time for us to be alive and see

:54:11. > :54:17.Usain Bolt Win a triple triple. Back to you shortly, but Lutalo Muhammad

:54:18. > :54:21.has been fighting Cheick Sallah Cisse of the Ivory Coast. A genetic

:54:22. > :54:26.night in the tae kwon do. -- genetic. Let's show you what

:54:27. > :54:31.happened with two minutes remaining. We will bring you the last couple of

:54:32. > :54:35.moments of that contest very shortly. We are staying on these

:54:36. > :54:41.pictures for an hour because they are incredible scenes. Usain Bolt

:54:42. > :54:46.celebrating with his team -- for now. Sporting a Bristol flag as

:54:47. > :54:51.well, wonderful to see. He loves Brazil. I can tell you now that we

:54:52. > :54:57.can show you the last couple of stages of that with Tyler Muhammad

:54:58. > :55:01.Bauer. Stand by for sheer drama -- Lutalo Muhammad.

:55:02. > :55:09.Didn't see the hand. That was the thing. That show you is you the

:55:10. > :55:16.benefit of the video replay as we go into the last 20 seconds. Muhammad

:55:17. > :55:22.takes the Bush kick and he will take that, so it is 6-4 Great Britain. --

:55:23. > :55:31.Bush kick. Everything to fight for now. He has to keep his composure.

:55:32. > :55:36.Hanging on, the men from the Ivory Coast. Can he produce a miracle?

:55:37. > :55:42.Muhammad has been strong all day. He has blocked and parried and moved.

:55:43. > :55:47.He one second away. Could this be pivotal? Muhammad roses down.

:55:48. > :55:53.Blocks, and there is a headshot in the last second for Cheick Sallah

:55:54. > :55:59.Cisse! The men from the Ivory Coast finds the win in the last second!

:56:00. > :56:03.What a turnaround! You want a fight to the finish, Cheick Sallah Cisse

:56:04. > :56:10.is your man. Cheick Sallah Cisse is the man. Lutalo Muhammad could not

:56:11. > :56:15.hang on. He fought so perfectly all day. But in the last second, it is a

:56:16. > :56:21.silver medal for Great Britain's Lutalo Muhammad. This man here,

:56:22. > :56:27.Cheick Sallah Cisse Junior, never say die. Olympic champion. I can't

:56:28. > :56:35.imagine what you are going through right now. Can you try to put it

:56:36. > :56:41.into words? It was so close. I was one second away from being Olympic

:56:42. > :56:47.champion and my dream. I don't want to cry on TV, but I'm so distraught.

:56:48. > :56:53.I'm so sorry for the people who stayed up late to watch and shimmy

:56:54. > :57:03.on. Let them down the last second -- shimmy on. -- cheer me. I'm sorry.

:57:04. > :57:09.This is so hard. How tough it was out there? Do you take any

:57:10. > :57:12.consolation this is still Great Britain's best ever result for

:57:13. > :57:27.amount upon to fight a? I was so close to being the Olympic champion.

:57:28. > :57:34.-- for a tag -- tae kwon do five. I have to hold it together. The

:57:35. > :57:40.emotions are so raw. It is hard to put into words how disappointed I

:57:41. > :57:43.am. How proud I am they contributed to Great Britain's record tally, it

:57:44. > :57:49.should have been able medal. I'm so upset. I can't speak clearly. -- a

:57:50. > :57:54.gold medal. I will still do a lap for the crowd as they have supported

:57:55. > :57:59.me so much. But I'm absolutely gutted to blow it like that. You

:58:00. > :58:05.know, that is life. Winners and losers. That is what makes is

:58:06. > :58:13.playing sports are interesting. And so distraught to be on the losing

:58:14. > :58:21.end here. After four years, I trained so hard. I trained so hard.

:58:22. > :58:25.I wanted to quit. I persevered and I got here and made it to the Olympic

:58:26. > :58:29.final. I'm so grateful to God that he allowed me to be here. But so

:58:30. > :58:39.disappointed right now. It is unbelievable. One of the low points

:58:40. > :58:43.in my life. This is very sad to me. I'm sorry I could not converted to

:58:44. > :58:48.God. You still went better than London. You made history tonight. Go

:58:49. > :58:54.entering the podium. We will speak to you later -- Gold. We love sport,

:58:55. > :59:00.but sometimes it can be so cruel sometimes. There are no words.

:59:01. > :59:04.Muhammad with one of the bravest interviews I have ever seen talking

:59:05. > :59:09.to a reporter. He has a little smile on his face. That was recorded a

:59:10. > :59:14.short time ago it straight after he lost with the final kick of his bout

:59:15. > :59:19.in the final seconds. Many people on social media are asking why did

:59:20. > :59:23.Muhammad engage? Why did he engage with Cisse? But he has won a silver

:59:24. > :59:29.medal. It could have been a gold medal. One second away from Olympic

:59:30. > :59:34.glory. And Lutalo Muhammad won bronze at 2012 and has been hampered

:59:35. > :59:38.by injuries over the last year. He has come back fighting and being

:59:39. > :59:45.absolutely brilliant tonight. It was one second away from becoming the

:59:46. > :59:49.Olympic champion. However, it is Cheick Sallah Cisse of the Ivory

:59:50. > :59:55.Coast who has won the gold medal. Cheick Sallah Cisse! Let's have a

:59:56. > :00:07.listen to this. MUSIC PLAYS

:00:08. > :00:16.Cheick Sallah Cisse is the tae kwon do champion in the 80 kg category,

:00:17. > :00:22.winning it in absolutely dramatic circumstances. And Lutalo Muhammad,

:00:23. > :00:25.I don't think I have ever seen an emotional interview like that ever

:00:26. > :00:27.broadcast on television. It was utterly heartbroken. But well done

:00:28. > :00:41.to Cheick Sallah Cisse. I don't know if you heard that

:00:42. > :00:45.interview with lut Yale-io, Gabi. He was a second away, Gabi, from

:00:46. > :00:51.winning an Olympic gold medal. Jason, we did. And all of us here

:00:52. > :00:56.just felt the deepest sympathy for him and the rawest of emotions that

:00:57. > :00:59.came pouring out from him. And there will be raw emotions here now.

:01:00. > :01:03.Extraordinary scenes. The US quartet are around, taking the adulation of

:01:04. > :01:07.the crowd with the flags on their shoulder, but they don't know the

:01:08. > :01:10.news that's just been announce the, steefr.

:01:11. > :01:14.No, they don't and they're probably the only people in the stadium that

:01:15. > :01:18.don't know they've been disqualified. They've just got to

:01:19. > :01:22.the end of their lap of honour. It's been up on the big screen - a

:01:23. > :01:26.changeover violation. So Trinidad and the United States both

:01:27. > :01:30.disqualified. We're not quite sure which changeover it was. We're just

:01:31. > :01:33.going to have a little look around here.

:01:34. > :01:40.So USA are in lane three inside Jamaica. Rodgers was the lead-off

:01:41. > :01:46.man. He's going to pass the baton to Justin Gatlin. Now what you're

:01:47. > :01:52.looking for are the green flashes across the - sorry, yellow line.

:01:53. > :01:58.That's the first change. Looks OK. We'll have a look. Colin's going to

:01:59. > :02:02.watch this with me. This one looks OK to me, Colin.

:02:03. > :02:07.I was even looking at Rodgers' feet to make sure he didn't clip any

:02:08. > :02:10.lines. You only need to put one foot on the line and it's instant

:02:11. > :02:16.disqualification. No, that's fine. No. It's in the box.

:02:17. > :02:20.So Gatlin is then going to hand over the baton to Tyson Gay.

:02:21. > :02:24.Remember it was Tyson Gay who was involved last year in the World

:02:25. > :02:29.Championships when he handed to Mike Rodgers. Now, there's the yellow

:02:30. > :02:35.line. Picks the baton up. Fine. So then

:02:36. > :02:45.it's the last change and this is the one where they looked to be having

:02:46. > :02:56.problems, didn't they? Yee you're looking for that yellow line. This

:02:57. > :03:03.is why Trayvon Bromell has gone a little early. I'm struggling to find

:03:04. > :03:09.out exactly where the changeover disqualification was.

:03:10. > :03:20.Hand back, middle. Looks fine. That looks all right to me.

:03:21. > :03:26.You know, the GB team are still querying the 4 x 4 disqualification,

:03:27. > :03:30.still looking for conclusive evidence on that and we've looked at

:03:31. > :03:36.the 4 x 100m and I can't see anything. No, not clearly. Maybe the

:03:37. > :03:43.first. Let's see what the result ends up being.

:03:44. > :03:49.Michael, you watched that the same as we did. What did you think? I

:03:50. > :03:52.concur with you guys' position. I didn't see anything. The only one

:03:53. > :03:56.that was close would have been the first one. We had a little bit of a

:03:57. > :04:00.weird angle where we couldn't see it quite as well as we could the

:04:01. > :04:04.others. I did not see any violation, certainly not on the final exchange,

:04:05. > :04:09.which was the one that initially I thought was a little bit delayed

:04:10. > :04:13.because, um, it did look like Trayvon Bromell went off a little

:04:14. > :04:18.bit early but he was clearly within the zone during the exchange. This

:04:19. > :04:25.is the first exchange. They is the -- this is the closest one we've

:04:26. > :04:31.seen. Everything looks fine so far. I don't see a violation there. There

:04:32. > :04:33.is a good chance that the officials - because we've seen some

:04:34. > :04:41.officiating here that hasn't been quite, um... Quite as... Crisp as we

:04:42. > :04:44.would like and they've had to go back and made some changes after

:04:45. > :04:50.disqualifying and had to reinstate and different things like that. So

:04:51. > :04:53.there's a good chance that we may see some of these disqualifications

:04:54. > :04:57.reinstated because we're not seeing the violations that you would

:04:58. > :05:01.traditionally see or that you would normally look for or that we've seen

:05:02. > :05:04.with violations in the past where athletes or teams had been

:05:05. > :05:08.disqualified. There we are, on the second exchange, well within the

:05:09. > :05:14.zone, exactly where you would want it to be.

:05:15. > :05:18.Tyson Gay to Trayvon Bromell in the anchor in the zone. He has to

:05:19. > :05:27.exchange before crossing the yellow line and he's well within the zone.

:05:28. > :05:30.Again. There's always a chance that maybe it's not necessarily a zone

:05:31. > :05:35.disqualification or a fraction, maybe there was some sort of lane

:05:36. > :05:39.infraction that may have caused the disqualification but we haven't seen

:05:40. > :05:47.anything like that so far. Michael, it has come up as a sector

:05:48. > :05:52.transgression. Trip day was a lane violation. This is the only one. You

:05:53. > :05:55.cannot - obviously Gatlin is wanting to get the baton early here from

:05:56. > :06:00.Mike Rodgers. So there's the line. Did he get hold of the baton just

:06:01. > :06:05.before that yellow line? I think that's the only one that looks

:06:06. > :06:10.contentious. That could be it, Steve. He could have taken the

:06:11. > :06:18.exchange outside the bat. But if you can see, the bat is in Justin's hand

:06:19. > :06:22.before he's in the box and I think that could be the problem. The

:06:23. > :06:27.acceleration zone is first and if you watch, the baton is in his hand,

:06:28. > :06:33.he's touching the baton and he's not in the actual exchange zone. That

:06:34. > :06:40.could be it. That's a hawk-eyed judge is all I can say. When you're

:06:41. > :06:44.doing that at full speed - obviously the USA would come and look at that

:06:45. > :06:49.but they have to provide evidence that refutes what the judge has

:06:50. > :06:56.seen. The other exchanges are fine as we've all seen. That view there

:06:57. > :07:00.for me wasn't totally 100% but it looks as though Justin Gatlin had

:07:01. > :07:04.his hand... And that's because they want to go early, Colin, on that

:07:05. > :07:07.back straight. Rodgers is a good starter. They want to give Gatlin

:07:08. > :07:11.the long leg, is it were. Let's see here. There's the yellow line. You

:07:12. > :07:16.cannot hand the baton before that. Does he have it, Colin? I think he

:07:17. > :07:21.has his hand on the baton and the baton itself - remember what this

:07:22. > :07:24.race is - you've got to pass the baton within the box. I think the

:07:25. > :07:29.baton was actually given to him before he was in the box. He may be,

:07:30. > :07:32.but the baton is not in the box, if you see what I'm saying. That's what

:07:33. > :07:42.they're being finishicy on here. And that is the rule. The baton must be

:07:43. > :07:45.in the exchange zone. Well, they've been a little bit

:07:46. > :07:49.lenient with some of the judging but not in the last couple of days.

:07:50. > :07:56.Great Britain, if that stands, will move into fifth place in the 4 x

:07:57. > :08:01.100m in 37.98, the top five teams all, for the first time ever,

:08:02. > :08:05.running under 38 seconds. We'll have another look at the

:08:06. > :08:11.disqualification for Great Britain and see if we can clear it up any

:08:12. > :08:16.further on the 4 x 400m. But now let's go to the other Steve,

:08:17. > :08:18.Backley, who is rounding up what ended up being a thrilling pole

:08:19. > :08:39.vault competition. Sandy Morris can win gold with this

:08:40. > :08:48.very jump, last attempt, oh, she's got it... Oh, my word! That was so

:08:49. > :08:51.close! S terks -- Stefanidi can't believe it! Absolutely thought that

:08:52. > :09:02.Morris had got over that. I think she did as well!

:09:03. > :09:04.It was a great effort and Ekaterini Stefanidi of Greece has taken the

:09:05. > :09:20.gold medal. Well, that was a marginal foul for

:09:21. > :09:26.Morris. The Americans thought she'd gone clear. It's a height she's

:09:27. > :09:32.surpassed indoors earlier this year. It was a great attempt but it means

:09:33. > :09:35.gold is handed to Stefanidi from Greece. Congratulations all round.

:09:36. > :09:40.There's your gold and silver medallists. Holly Bradshaw of

:09:41. > :09:44.Britain finished in fifth place and Stefanidi, that 4.85m was enough for

:09:45. > :09:51.gold ahead of Morris, the same height. Eliza McCartney, the world

:09:52. > :09:56.junior record-holder for bronze and Holly Bradshaw was a very credible

:09:57. > :10:07.fifth place. Well, this is the look back at the

:10:08. > :10:10.throw that won the hammer. Dilshod Nazarov of Tajikistan, the

:10:11. > :10:14.first ever medal for Tajikistan. He's a bit of a one-man team. He

:10:15. > :10:18.carried the flag in the Opening Ceremony and he's also the president

:10:19. > :10:23.of the federation, would you believe? 78.68m to extend his lead.

:10:24. > :10:28.He took that in the third round, extended it in the fifth.

:10:29. > :10:35.No-one could catch him and a gold medal for the first time ever for

:10:36. > :10:43.tack yidge stand. -- Tajikistan, any medal in any

:10:44. > :10:47.event for that matter. Wonderful performance from Dilshod Nazarov,

:10:48. > :10:56.good series as well. 78.68m, enough for gold.

:10:57. > :10:59.So the flag of Tajikistan, the first time we've seen that in celebrations

:11:00. > :11:27.in an Olympic Stadium. Not a night has gone by here without

:11:28. > :11:31.some kind of anomaly when it comes to officiating. We've seen all kinds

:11:32. > :11:40.of bizarre and wonderful decisions, appeals and appeals being overturned

:11:41. > :11:43.but the 4 x 400m men's relay disqualification from Great Britain

:11:44. > :11:46.has left his scratching our heads. We've had nothing official

:11:47. > :11:50.announced. The best guess - and it is a guess - is that it was

:11:51. > :11:54.something to do with the handover with Martyn Rooney when he received

:11:55. > :12:01.the battion from Matthew Hudson-Smith. That is our... Our

:12:02. > :12:04.best guess. Here you see Matthew should son-Smith taking the baton

:12:05. > :12:12.and we don't see anything there that would rise to the level of any sort

:12:13. > :12:19.of violation. S um, you know, the rule that Steve Cram quoted is to do

:12:20. > :12:23.with how the outgoing runner's positioned and what he does once he

:12:24. > :12:27.starts to take over and -- take off and so that's how we've sort of

:12:28. > :12:32.narrowed it down to that exchange with Martyn Rooney. We keep looking

:12:33. > :12:38.here and we just don't see anything in the actual ex change that would

:12:39. > :12:41.rise to the level of a violation but what we don't know is if there was

:12:42. > :12:45.any sort of positioning issues and there are some rules around that and

:12:46. > :12:51.we're just not quite sure if that was the case. So, you know, what

:12:52. > :12:56.will be happening right now is the British team will be working with

:12:57. > :13:00.the officials. They will be getting an explanation as to what took

:13:01. > :13:04.place. It may be on the final exchange. That's what we've narrowed

:13:05. > :13:09.it down to. We're just hearing right now that it could be Williams to

:13:10. > :13:17.Hudson-Smith possibly. It could be anything. You know, the plot

:13:18. > :13:22.thickens. Someone's head has just gone into the shot there. I just

:13:23. > :13:27.can't see it. Lane two is standing on the line. Look at the Belgian

:13:28. > :13:29.guy! He's in Matthew Hudson-Smith's lane.

:13:30. > :13:35.It's more likely the hand. Steve, come in. Steve Cram. Yeah, OK guys,

:13:36. > :13:39.so that picture really doesn't help because I think you're looking at a

:13:40. > :13:43.white line. Before that red line there's a red dotted line - if you

:13:44. > :13:46.turn round yourselves and look down at the track you'll be able to see

:13:47. > :13:53.it. They have to be standing inside that. They've said Matthew

:13:54. > :13:57.Hudson-Smith's foot and that of the Indian athlete next to him was on

:13:58. > :14:00.the red line as he was standing ready to take the baton. Although it

:14:01. > :14:04.looks like they're all roughly standing in the same place, his foot

:14:05. > :14:08.is on the line. There's a judge standing looking right down that

:14:09. > :14:11.line. This is not a very good view for us and this is the problem the

:14:12. > :14:17.British team are having at the moment - they can't get a conclusive

:14:18. > :14:21.view that can go against what the judge has said. So there is no

:14:22. > :14:28.evidence for them to be able to refute what the judge saw. So this

:14:29. > :14:31.is what we're being told at the moment. The complication might be

:14:32. > :14:34.that Brazil have also been advanced into the final. Obviously I'm not

:14:35. > :14:38.saying... That would be great for the home crowd but we're being told

:14:39. > :14:41.that he had the foot on the line. That's the interpretation from the

:14:42. > :14:45.judge and at the moment they're struggling to find a good picture,

:14:46. > :14:48.as we just saw there, that could prove otherwise. Thank you very

:14:49. > :14:52.much, Steve. Well, that is, um... Very, very, you know, for us to look

:14:53. > :14:56.at from that angle, it's very difficult to make any kind of

:14:57. > :15:05.conclusion. Typically what will happen is once the judge lines you

:15:06. > :15:10.up, if you move closer because your incoming runner needs to move a full

:15:11. > :15:13.400m, if you move closer, he will motion for you to move. Maybe they

:15:14. > :15:16.don't have a judge doing that here, so that would be a little bit

:15:17. > :15:20.difficult. That would be a little bit tough if they wouldn't do that

:15:21. > :15:24.and just kind of leave you to your own devices, you know? But the

:15:25. > :15:27.officiating, again, has not been stellar here, so I would think that,

:15:28. > :15:31.you know, the British team would have a very good case, but what

:15:32. > :15:35.we've seen also in the case of some of the other violations is that

:15:36. > :15:40.runners have been disqualified, teams have gone in and appealed

:15:41. > :15:43.because it was such a minor infraction and they've still allowed

:15:44. > :15:47.that to stand. So who knows what will happen? Look, we will know

:15:48. > :15:51.tomorrow when we turn up here, or we'll know later tonight, whether or

:15:52. > :15:54.not any kind of appeal has been successful. But let's talk about

:15:55. > :15:59.success rather than anomalies in officiating. The women's 4 X 100m

:16:00. > :16:07.relay from Great Britain got a bronze medal tonight, a magnificent

:16:08. > :16:11.run from the quartet, Denise. We've seen our British women set

:16:12. > :16:17.nationals records this year and they came in really, really confident.

:16:18. > :16:22.We've talked about them gelling and talked about the trust and I think

:16:23. > :16:27.Desiree Henry here ran a superb second leg. Clean, crisp changeovers

:16:28. > :16:33.is what this relay was all about and this is what secured them this

:16:34. > :16:36.fantastic bronze medal. Young Darryl Neita, her first

:16:37. > :16:40.Olympics. It's incredible, this experience she's getting. All she

:16:41. > :16:43.had to do was hold on to that position which, as you can see she's

:16:44. > :16:49.comfortably, comfortably in third. I mean it's brilliant. We didn't get a

:16:50. > :16:52.team to qualify in 2012 and Desiree Henry lit the flame in 2012 and

:16:53. > :16:56.there she is winning a bronze medal at the Olympic Games. There's legacy

:16:57. > :17:00.right there for you. Absolutely. You could see just how much it meant to

:17:01. > :17:03.her, tears streaming down her face. I mean they have worked hard, you

:17:04. > :17:07.know? The relay has been so important to this squad? And just

:17:08. > :17:11.look at her face there. It's just fantastic.

:17:12. > :17:15.Magnificent run as well from the USA, who had to run in lane one

:17:16. > :17:18.because of what went on yesterday in their qualification and they came

:17:19. > :17:22.through and stormed to victory but that looks just as squeet for that

:17:23. > :17:26.young crop of sprinters and they caught up with Phil afterwards.

:17:27. > :17:32.Well done one and all. Emily, it was key to get the team into the race.

:17:33. > :17:36.You did that? It's always the aim to get the girls a good position going

:17:37. > :17:42.into second. I found myself more nervous for the relay today than I

:17:43. > :17:46.did for my individual. I didn't want to let these girls down. They got

:17:47. > :17:49.the job done, we've qualified tomorrow and we'll bring it back

:17:50. > :17:53.tomorrow. You must have been chomping at the bit to get involved

:17:54. > :17:57.in the Olympics. You did a tremendous job. I hope so. It was

:17:58. > :18:01.good, you know. I've been watching the rest of the girls and the rest

:18:02. > :18:05.of the team perform and I was just waiting for my time and I finally

:18:06. > :18:07.got to step out in the Olympic Stadium in Brazil T was great!

:18:08. > :18:15.Loving the Olympic hair as well by the way. Thank you. I try! You're in

:18:16. > :18:18.a great position. It's important to hold and maintain that qualifying

:18:19. > :18:22.position. You did it in a calm and assured way. Well, I've had a lot of

:18:23. > :18:26.experience with the relay and I could kind of feel the Canadian on

:18:27. > :18:33.my shoulder but I thought don't let her get you before the bend. I

:18:34. > :18:37.wanted to keep my inside of the curve and pass over in second with a

:18:38. > :18:41.good lead. Safely through to another final. You've been here so many

:18:42. > :18:45.times with the British team and this is a strong medal hope for you. It's

:18:46. > :18:50.a strong medal hope but we try not to get overexcited. We had a job to

:18:51. > :18:54.do today. We'll go back, rest up and come back and fight for tomorrow. We

:18:55. > :19:00.wish you all well for the final and well done today.

:19:01. > :19:03.You will recognise that that is the 4 x 400m quartet. Apologies for

:19:04. > :19:08.that. Finger trouble in the gallery, I think. We will hear from the 4 x

:19:09. > :19:12.100m girls shortly and they are, as I say, a young group. They've worked

:19:13. > :19:16.so hard together and they really have this responsibility, you feel,

:19:17. > :19:19.that they feel they're getting the funding to get this right and they

:19:20. > :19:23.feel they've got to make it right on the big stage. They want to deliver,

:19:24. > :19:29.don't they? They do but they also know that they have the ability and

:19:30. > :19:32.you have that potential and you feel a responsibility to realise that

:19:33. > :19:36.potential and I think that's what they feel. I think that's also the

:19:37. > :19:39.frustration of the men's 4 x 100m relay team. It's not about the

:19:40. > :19:44.funding necessarily but you heard each one of those guys say, "We know

:19:45. > :19:46.we could be there." That's the frustration they feel. It's good

:19:47. > :19:48.they do. They'll take that forward. I completely agree.

:19:49. > :19:51.they do. They'll take that forward. I completely agree. We've seen just

:19:52. > :19:56.a new attitude within the British team. They are hungry. They don't

:19:57. > :19:59.fear this arena any more. You know, they work hard, they know what

:20:00. > :20:02.they're about and they want to maximise when they come to these

:20:03. > :20:07.championships. That's such a brilliant attitude to have. It's

:20:08. > :20:12.long overdue. Where does that come from? The shining examples of Jess

:20:13. > :20:16.and Mo? I think a lot of it is that but it's also particular to this

:20:17. > :20:20.group of girls. They want to have each other's back the whole way

:20:21. > :20:24.round, to put the work in together. When you have a good group, you're

:20:25. > :20:29.inspiring and motivating each other to work together. And to do it for

:20:30. > :20:34.each other to bring home the medal for all the work you've put in.

:20:35. > :20:43.Let's hear from this guy and his friends, Usain Bolt and co, the 4 x

:20:44. > :20:46.100m Olympic champions. Congratulations on the gold medal.

:20:47. > :20:50.It was surely never in doubt. Yeah, it was never in doubt. We went out

:20:51. > :20:58.there very confident. We're a unit, you know. We're a team. We love

:20:59. > :21:04.competing on the track and I love running with these guys. It's

:21:05. > :21:10.amazing. You seem to do it with no -- so much joy, no pressure. Did you

:21:11. > :21:15.feel the history on Usain and what he could do tonight? Not really. We

:21:16. > :21:19.were having fun. We just had to go out and execute. We did well. The

:21:20. > :21:23.confidence we have, you know, it's hard to go out there with pressure.

:21:24. > :21:27.We're here to relax. We're very confident, you know, we just wanted

:21:28. > :21:34.to get the stick in that man's hand. Well, it shows. Yo had, ann, you're

:21:35. > :21:40.such a laidback quartet. Tell me what this means to your nation.

:21:41. > :21:44.You're sprint kings again. We came home victorious because Usain Bolt

:21:45. > :21:47.needed to be immortal and the team worked together and put it together

:21:48. > :21:52.and he's immortal. But guess what? I encourage him to come back for 2020!

:21:53. > :21:58.Did you hear that? No, no, what did he say? He's encouraging you to come

:21:59. > :22:03.wack for 2020. No, no, no, I'm just happy that I did what I came to do.

:22:04. > :22:07.I'm proud of myself. I have to give thanks to the guys. They came

:22:08. > :22:11.through for me! Triple-triple, treble-treble, whatever you want to

:22:12. > :22:15.call it but to deliver it - the enormity is blowing our minds. What

:22:16. > :22:19.about you? The pressure is real but, um, I look at it as accomplishment,

:22:20. > :22:23.you know what I mean? I enjoy pressure. I live for these moments.

:22:24. > :22:28.Foe me I came through and I'm proud of myself. How will you celebrate?

:22:29. > :22:32.Oh, well, I won't celebrate now. I'm just going to go home. I'll stay up

:22:33. > :22:36.late tonight just talking, having fun. I'm just happy. I'm just

:22:37. > :22:41.relieved you know what I mean? I've done it and it's just: Of. It's

:22:42. > :22:45.just... It's unreal. You never knew from the start that this would

:22:46. > :22:51.happen to me and now it has. It's a brilliant feeling. I told the guys

:22:52. > :22:55.if they didn't come through for me, I'd beat them up. You're the

:22:56. > :23:01.greatest with Ali and Pele. I'm the greatest. I'm the greatest. You have

:23:02. > :23:04.50 or 60 interviews lined up. You're a gentleman, Usain. Thanks for

:23:05. > :23:09.always speaking to us. No problem. Steve, this is because of you. You

:23:10. > :23:13.are the best. You make me feel good when I watch the commentary. Nothing

:23:14. > :23:22.to do with me? Nothing to do with you! Cheers. Thank you.

:23:23. > :23:26.Oh, Phil, I'm sure it is a little bit but yeah, Steve has commentated

:23:27. > :23:30.on some of the most fantastic moment in Usain Bolt's career and what a

:23:31. > :23:34.pleasure it is for all of us to sit here and see his greatness on

:23:35. > :23:39.Olympic track for the final time! We are going to miss this man, Michael

:23:40. > :23:42.Johnson! Yeah and I think he's going to miss it as well but I think, you

:23:43. > :23:46.know, what I heard there is that he's relieved and I think that, you

:23:47. > :23:50.know, it speaks again that he told me he does feel pressure and I think

:23:51. > :23:53.that showed right there, that it is a lot of pressure being Usain Bolt.

:23:54. > :23:57.It is a tremendous amount of pressure to have, you know, so much

:23:58. > :23:59.expectation that, you know, early on in his career, there was an

:24:00. > :24:03.expectation that every time he went out there, he'd break a world record

:24:04. > :24:08.and I think he's relieved now to have done it, done it well and

:24:09. > :24:23.gotten it all over with with pure gold.

:24:24. > :24:29.USA have had great success in hurdling. Well done, USA, but Great

:24:30. > :24:35.Britain could be moving up the table tomorrow, Paula. Mo is on the track

:24:36. > :24:40.again. 5,000m time. What we saw in the women's 5,000m

:24:41. > :24:45.tonight underlined the enormity of the task he has before him. He'll be

:24:46. > :24:50.tired from that. He ran the heat. I believe he can do it but he'll be

:24:51. > :24:55.tired and it's very, very tough to do that - he's done it once already

:24:56. > :25:00.and to do it again will be huge. But we will be here and with him every

:25:01. > :25:05.step of the I know you will be too. 4 X 400m relays and who knows? Great

:25:06. > :25:12.Britain's men may be reinstated by then. Thanks for your company this

:25:13. > :25:16.evening. Back to you, Jason.

:25:17. > :25:20.Lost for words, Gabi and the A-Team. Thank you for that.

:25:21. > :25:23.On that, Usain Bolt, an absolute privilege to be sitting here

:25:24. > :25:28.watching that man in Rio and all those Olympic Games. Come on, Usain,

:25:29. > :25:30.let's have you in 2020 in Tokyo. You know it makes sense.

:25:31. > :25:33.One of the other Great British stories in the past couple of weeks

:25:34. > :25:39.has been Great Britain's women's hockey team. They're unbeaten and on

:25:40. > :26:07.their march to the final. Standing in their way - the Netherlands.

:26:08. > :26:59.Helen Richardson-Walsh takes it across to McCallin.

:27:00. > :27:08.It's a goal. It's scored by Kitty van Male. Her goal has ignited this

:27:09. > :27:32.Dutch run of pressure. It's a goal for Netherlands, 2-1 in

:27:33. > :27:51.front. 2-1 with 4.5 minutes left until half-time and Great Britain on

:27:52. > :27:52.a rare attack. Cullen has scored! Crista Cullen brings Great Britain

:27:53. > :28:00.level! A penalty corner has been given.

:28:01. > :28:03.Great Britain get a foot on the ball. The Dutch have their fifth

:28:04. > :28:25.penalty corner of the game. This time they strike. Kitty van

:28:26. > :28:29.Male gets the goal, her second and the Dutch lead by three goals to two

:28:30. > :28:46.with 8.5 minutes left in the third period.

:28:47. > :28:50.Another opportunity now. Same personnel involved, Unsworth,

:28:51. > :28:54.and Ansley. She's scored! Great Britain are level! I think it could

:28:55. > :28:59.be Nicola White. I'm not 100% certain. It doesn't matter. It

:29:00. > :29:03.doesn't matter at the moment. We will find out. 3-3.

:29:04. > :29:12.Last 10 seconds. The gold medal game is going to a

:29:13. > :29:19.penalty shoot-out. 3-3 at the end of normal time.

:29:20. > :29:29.Penalties to follow. First penalty of the shoot-out in

:29:30. > :29:36.the gold medal game. Helen Richardson-Walsh on her way,

:29:37. > :29:43.holds it up. Saved.

:29:44. > :29:57.Hinch off her line, goes out to meet her. And does enough. It's a miss.

:29:58. > :30:04.Charging towards Sombroek, sweeps it round. Still time left but now she's

:30:05. > :30:16.run out of time. Three penalties, no luck from any player yet.

:30:17. > :30:24.Fourth penalty of the shoot-out. Hinch has got hold of it. Hinch will

:30:25. > :30:30.kick it clear. They've run out of time.

:30:31. > :30:33.Maddie Hinch absolutely brilliant. Will she be the first to score?

:30:34. > :30:40.Brought down. Penalty stroke. Helen Richardson-Walsh, penalty

:30:41. > :30:42.stroke. Scores!

:30:43. > :30:49.CHEERING Great Britain are off the mark in

:30:50. > :30:54.the shoot-out! The Dutch haven't scored one yet.

:30:55. > :31:04.She's going all the way round Maddie Hinch and Hinch pushes Leurink's

:31:05. > :31:12.shot away. Laura Unsworth.

:31:13. > :31:18.Unsworth on her way. Unsworth versus Sombroek. She saves. Another chance

:31:19. > :31:21.for Unsworth. High, over the top. Hinch once again taking her

:31:22. > :31:31.position, slapping her crossbar. Slapping her posts. Van Geffen

:31:32. > :31:36.poised over the ball, Hinch watching it every step of the way. Oh, she's

:31:37. > :31:53.hit the post. She's missed. Hinch will clear.

:31:54. > :31:58.Webb on her way to win gold for Great Britain. Turns, scores! That's

:31:59. > :32:10.the golden goal! Great Britain have won the Olympic gold medal! Well

:32:11. > :32:17.just what a job they've done. Remember they won bronze at London

:32:18. > :32:21.2012. They have a remarkable team spirit. That was evident in London.

:32:22. > :32:24.They worked so hard. They banned themselves from Twitter and they've

:32:25. > :32:33.gone and clinched the Olympic gold medal. Well done, ladies.

:32:34. > :33:14.GOD SAVE THE QUEEN PLAYS Absolutely brilliant. You know, this could

:33:15. > :33:18.change the face of women's hockey, of men's hockey, for the next couple

:33:19. > :33:22.of years. That is going to act as such an inspiration to many girls,

:33:23. > :33:26.many ladies, who are playing hockey right across our country. Fantastic

:33:27. > :33:31.achievement. Unbeaten as well, remember R didn't even lose a game

:33:32. > :33:35.in the pool stages. Went into this gold medal match. A lot of people

:33:36. > :33:37.fancied the Netherlands but they went into that game full of

:33:38. > :33:42.confidence, knowing that they could win it. Just look at these smiles.

:33:43. > :33:46.We had so many incredible moments for Team GB but just take a look at

:33:47. > :33:50.these smiles. Depending on your point of view and which sport you

:33:51. > :33:54.love, you have to say this has got to be one of the great moments for

:33:55. > :33:59.Great British sport this year and for Great British sport as well at

:34:00. > :34:03.these Olympics. Look at into smiles. They're so focused, a talented

:34:04. > :34:06.watch. They're led by Kate Richardson-Walsh so well. What a

:34:07. > :34:10.thrilling final as well. Just so tense, unbelievable stuff right to

:34:11. > :34:19.the very end. Unbelievable. You could write a book

:34:20. > :34:22.about this. Unbelievable. Look at those big smiles and to beat the

:34:23. > :34:26.Netherlands and to beat Germany as well, that is such a -- some

:34:27. > :34:30.achievement. Well done to Great Britain's women's hockey team. It's

:34:31. > :34:33.been a remarkable day once again here in Rio. Let's also hear now

:34:34. > :34:38.from the women we've just seen on the track and field. They got a

:34:39. > :34:47.bronze medal in the 4 x 100m relay. They're with Phil.

:34:48. > :34:53.To deliver a national record on the biggest night of your life, Asha,

:34:54. > :34:58.how do you begin to describe it? Secretly we were all scared but

:34:59. > :35:01.never told each other. But, like, we came here in supposition to get a

:35:02. > :35:05.medal and we delivered. We know we had a lot of pressure to get this

:35:06. > :35:11.medal. But we were confident from London and running 41 in the heat. I

:35:12. > :35:15.had so much trust and faith in these girls. Individually, they'ralented

:35:16. > :35:19.and as a team even better. You know what it is, yeah? I've been with

:35:20. > :35:23.this here time since 2011. Four years ago, we didn't even make it

:35:24. > :35:28.and the fact that we've come here, this is for, like, all the girls

:35:29. > :35:32.that have, um, tried so hard. I have to thank all the girls from 2012

:35:33. > :35:35.because they supported us on Twitter and messaged us personally. I cannot

:35:36. > :35:39.thank them girls enough. That support from them, we did for them

:35:40. > :35:42.as well. Us girls were never at the top but now we finally are, I can't

:35:43. > :35:46.believe I'm sharing this experience with these girls and I'm so happy.

:35:47. > :35:51.Big thank you to these girls and the girls at home. Big team effort. Well

:35:52. > :35:54.said to Asha. Desiree, you were lighting the cauldron four years

:35:55. > :35:58.ago. As Asha said, there was no British team even in the women's

:35:59. > :36:03.event then and here you are with a medal! I can't believe it. 2012 was

:36:04. > :36:07.special for me with different reasons because I lit the cauldron

:36:08. > :36:10.but I thought it was my first Olympics and I went out to enjoy it.

:36:11. > :36:15.I had the thought of coming back with a medals but the fact that we

:36:16. > :36:19.done it and to see Darryl cross the line in third, tears were rolling

:36:20. > :36:23.down my eyes, amazing feeling of accomplishment. We have so many

:36:24. > :36:27.girls behind the lines as well that have given us the confidence to come

:36:28. > :36:29.out and run hard. It's a massive effort. It's taken four years so

:36:30. > :36:33.thank you so much to everyone that has made this happen. Dina, what a

:36:34. > :36:37.wonderful Olympics to do so well in an individual final and now take a

:36:38. > :36:41.medal home with you. Can you even begin to reflect on what's happened

:36:42. > :36:45.to you? I'm just honestly so proud of these girls. Because we have

:36:46. > :36:49.worked unbelievably hard. We've been practising this since January. Of

:36:50. > :36:53.all the teams in the line, we probably honestly worked the

:36:54. > :36:56.hardest. We had trust in each other. We've worked our changes inside out,

:36:57. > :36:59.so many different girls and different combinations. We've worked

:37:00. > :37:02.so hard and the help of our coaches and the help and support of

:37:03. > :37:05.everybody that plays National Lottery and the National Lottery as

:37:06. > :37:10.well, this medal would not be here. We've worked so hard. So many people

:37:11. > :37:14.have been on our side. This is for the entire nation. Thank you.

:37:15. > :37:19.Darryl, what a meteoric rise for you to come on to the grandest stage of

:37:20. > :37:23.all and leave with a medal at 19. Do you know - I'm absolutely

:37:24. > :37:27.speechless. I literalliam so proud of my team and everyone around us,

:37:28. > :37:31.the National Lottery. This time last year, I would never have imagined

:37:32. > :37:35.being here. I'm just speechless and I'm just happy we have this faith

:37:36. > :37:39.and trust in our team. Your face said it all, to be honest, when you

:37:40. > :37:42.crossed the line. That was a picture. I couldn't believe it and

:37:43. > :37:46.then I saw it was a British record. We absolutely smashed it and I'm so

:37:47. > :37:49.happy. Don't you want it all? You deserve the celebrations tonight.

:37:50. > :37:53.Congratulations to you all. Thank you very, very much. Thank you.

:37:54. > :37:57.Thank you. And that is why we love the Olympic Games. We have seen

:37:58. > :38:04.what, in the past 45 minutes, the joy and pain of the Olympics. The

:38:05. > :38:10.joy of the 4 x 100m relay and the pain of lieutenantial-io Mohammed

:38:11. > :38:15.missing out on a gold medal. -- lut Yale-io Mohammed, missing out on --

:38:16. > :38:17.Luta will, o Mohammed, missing out on gold by one second. That's sport

:38:18. > :39:05.for you. Well, he's been superb up to this

:39:06. > :39:11.point. He's been very promising for some time. He has raced up the

:39:12. > :39:16.respectability stakes here. He's been absolutely superb. It will

:39:17. > :39:26.be a fascinating clash this one, between these two.

:39:27. > :39:35.He's trying to control of the leg here.

:39:36. > :39:40.He's fighting hard to avoid being taken down. Back to standing but

:39:41. > :39:46.still working with just one leg in control here.

:39:47. > :39:50.He attempts to seize the two-point take-down score and the Georgian is

:39:51. > :39:57.in some difficulty. Back they go. No score. That's the

:39:58. > :40:00.kind of score that he was routinely getting in earlier matches, not this

:40:01. > :40:05.time. That's right. That's what makes this

:40:06. > :40:08.so fascinating. We get to the apex of the competition and you have two

:40:09. > :40:14.wrestlers so accomplished, very little between them. It will be a

:40:15. > :40:28.joy to watch this one unfold over the next 4.5 minutes.

:40:29. > :41:05.Now, again the leg. So no score after two minutes and at

:41:06. > :41:14.this point... There will be a clock if there's no score.

:41:15. > :41:18.Sometimes it's so hard to differentiate between the two

:41:19. > :41:26.wrestlers as to which is the least passive.

:41:27. > :41:31.The wrestler under the passivity clock is under more pressure

:41:32. > :41:38.negotiation question about it. It's well defended by Haguchi and --

:41:39. > :41:40.Higuchi and quons wently the Japanese wrestler takes the

:41:41. > :41:54.single-point advantage. He goes for it. No score. How good was that

:41:55. > :42:05.defence from the Georgian? Quick to size up what the Japanese wrestler

:42:06. > :42:13.was to there. Fantastic recovery. Higuchi has put down a marker there.

:42:14. > :42:25.He's telegraphed that one so if he goes for it again, Khinchegashvili

:42:26. > :42:31.will be even more aware of it. It's absorbing so far. Just a point in it

:42:32. > :42:35.with Higuchi getting that penalty point. Khinchegashvili is an

:42:36. > :42:45.experienced wrestler despite his relatively young age. Hugely

:42:46. > :42:49.successful in his career absolutely no panicker weariness from him. It's

:42:50. > :42:58.just a matter of finishing the job off.

:42:59. > :43:02.It's easier said than done, though. This time Higuchi more decisive in

:43:03. > :43:06.scoring two points. Something more authoritative in the way he got

:43:07. > :43:13.that. He's looking to continue here as well.

:43:14. > :43:20.Still has the grip here. Can he go further and apply the gut wrench to

:43:21. > :43:25.get the turn? No. Well defended again by

:43:26. > :43:30.Khinchegashvili. That was really, really excellent stuff from him.

:43:31. > :43:33.Guest again gets the leg. He's been utterly consistent in his approach

:43:34. > :43:36.there. This time, Khinchegashvili backing away.

:43:37. > :43:44.He'll try to turn this round into a points-scoring position of his own,

:43:45. > :43:53.which he's done. How good was that? He's not done with yet.

:43:54. > :44:03.Looks to get the gut wrench. Instead goes for the legs.

:44:04. > :44:07.This is a problematic position for the Japanese wrestler. Trying to

:44:08. > :44:17.roll him and turn him but there's no score. Superb defence from Higuchi.

:44:18. > :44:21.Khinchegashvili was trying his absolute but did dig very deep into

:44:22. > :44:26.his soul there and his opponent couldn't do it. Let's get ready for

:44:27. > :44:32.the last 90 seconds. This one is well set up.

:44:33. > :44:44.Someone is taking home a gold medal at the Olympic Games.

:44:45. > :44:53.Who is it going to be? Will it be the World Champion? Khinchegashvili?

:44:54. > :44:57.He trails by a point at the moment. There's danger here of a passivity

:44:58. > :45:04.violation and it gets very difficult now. Higuchi was defending too much.

:45:05. > :45:21.So his lead is in danger of disappearing here. Might we have a

:45:22. > :45:29.result separated by a countback? Both wrestlers just happy to let

:45:30. > :45:33.these seven seconds tick out maybe. We might have a Grandstand finish in

:45:34. > :45:41.the last 40 seconds or so. Higuchi tried to go for the leg there on one

:45:42. > :45:46.more occasion. But it is now three points apiece and by virtue of

:45:47. > :45:51.having scored the last point, Khinchegashvili is the leader.

:45:52. > :45:56.That's on the countback system so suddenly it's all turned around and

:45:57. > :46:03.it is the Georgian who is in gold medal position but for how much

:46:04. > :46:08.longer? Well, we've got a challenge from the Japanese camp.

:46:09. > :46:16.That's been dismissed by the looks of things and on we go.

:46:17. > :46:19.Let's get on with the wrestling. Into the last 20 seconds of the

:46:20. > :46:23.bout. Khinchegashvili of Georgia has got the lead at the moment by virtue

:46:24. > :46:28.of the countback system. It's that tight. He scored the last point. He

:46:29. > :46:32.has the lead going into the final ten seconds. Can he hold on or does

:46:33. > :46:37.Higuchi have one last final decisive attack? It doesn't look like it. It

:46:38. > :46:47.looks as though it is, indeed, going to be the gold medal to Vladimer

:46:48. > :46:51.Khinchegashvili of Georgia! Well, the challenge has come in here. The

:46:52. > :47:05.referee is not sure what the challenge is for. But, again w a

:47:06. > :47:14.gold medal on the line... Higuchi's challenge will be reviewed by the

:47:15. > :47:20.committee. Surely this is going to be gold to Georgia.

:47:21. > :47:27.Well, the challenge has come in here... They're challenging in hope

:47:28. > :47:31.really rather than any sense of expectation. There's nothing there,

:47:32. > :47:37.no change to the score except for the addition of a single point to

:47:38. > :47:43.Khinchegashvili. He takes the gold medal. The silver will go to Rei

:47:44. > :47:48.Higuchi of Japan. We thought it might be a very tight

:47:49. > :47:56.bout. We thought it might go down to the wire. It certainly did. The

:47:57. > :48:00.victor and Olympic gold medallist going one better than last time when

:48:01. > :48:08.he was a silver medallist in London 2012. This time, at Rio 2016, he

:48:09. > :48:16.takes the gold. Georgia's Vladimer Khinchegashvili. Second gold medal

:48:17. > :48:21.for Georgia at these games. They -- Games. They picked up one in

:48:22. > :48:25.weightlifting as well. No question that Khinchegashvili is

:48:26. > :48:31.one of the best wrestlers in the world. The high quality of rest

:48:32. > :48:36.letters in that world was absolutely first class so for him to come

:48:37. > :48:52.through and emerge victorious is some achievement for him. All set

:48:53. > :48:57.now for the gold medal match in the men's 74kg class in wrestling at Rio

:48:58. > :49:14.2016. This promises to be some match.

:49:15. > :49:19.Aniuar Geduev of Russia up against Hassan Yazdani of Iran. #7 Geduev is

:49:20. > :49:22.ranked higher at the moment, world number two, and the Iranian is world

:49:23. > :49:32.number four. Here we go. It's the gold medal

:49:33. > :49:36.match again in the 74kg class. Aniuar Geduev of Russia in the red

:49:37. > :49:56.and Hassan Yazdani of Iran. Oh, he could be setting him up here.

:49:57. > :50:04.It is a two-point take-down right at the end of this first period. The

:50:05. > :50:13.Russian doing superbly well. They go to the end of it and it's the

:50:14. > :50:18.Russian who has done superbly well. Six points now. That's quite a lot

:50:19. > :50:28.he has to do in this second period to get back into the contest.

:50:29. > :50:32.Yazdaniias was dominant in his previous -- Hassan Yazdani was

:50:33. > :50:36.dominant in his previous matches. His wrestling is not showroom

:50:37. > :50:42.condition so far in this gold medal match.

:50:43. > :50:47.Last three minutes, climax to the men's 74kg class here at the

:50:48. > :50:51.freestyle wrestling at Rio 2016 and it's a commander lead at the moment

:50:52. > :51:02.to Aniuar Geduev of Russia in the red.

:51:03. > :51:11.No the Iranian with a two-point take-down. It was nicely done. He's

:51:12. > :51:16.immensely powerful and strong. Stalemate has been called by the

:51:17. > :51:20.referee and we're going back to have that wound addressed once more. It's

:51:21. > :51:34.absolutely vital to get back to a four-point deficit so quickly after

:51:35. > :51:59.the resumption. Well, we're seeing some activity

:52:00. > :52:03.here the officials. I guess the Iranians are perhaps trying to argue

:52:04. > :52:07.here that this is happening too often and he should be defaulted out

:52:08. > :52:17.of the gold medal match due to injury.

:52:18. > :52:26.It's a bit hard to pick up what they're saying all the crowd noise.

:52:27. > :52:29.An awfully long time here as the medical officials... Try and get the

:52:30. > :52:35.Russian stitched up. They've done a pretty good job you'd

:52:36. > :52:39.have to say. Just one of those really annoying

:52:40. > :52:50.wounds over that eye. So we're back into it now. Yazdani trying to come

:52:51. > :52:58.back from a six-point deficit. He's on his way back. It's down to two!

:52:59. > :53:09.Could be more here! Geduev has done well. Could be more

:53:10. > :53:17.points, though, for the Iranian. All he needs to do is turn him. Oh,

:53:18. > :53:27.the Russian's done well to stay in that position.

:53:28. > :53:42.Could this be a key moment for the match? The Russian survives!

:53:43. > :53:49.One minute and 30 seconds remaining and it is really game on now for the

:53:50. > :54:12.gold medal. Yazdani is coming back into this gold medal match superbly.

:54:13. > :54:16.The referee wants some action. No passivity warning for either

:54:17. > :54:21.wrestler as we go get close to the last gold medal minute of this

:54:22. > :54:35.match. Just going on here. It's very, very

:54:36. > :54:40.even. I kind of get the feeling we could

:54:41. > :54:49.be in for a grand-stand finish. No score there.

:54:50. > :54:53.Anxious times for both parties here. 30 seconds remaining and we're going

:54:54. > :54:57.to have a challenge from the Russian camp.

:54:58. > :55:02.The Russian coaching staff believe they've got two points during this

:55:03. > :55:14.exchange. Last ten seconds! It's a two-point

:55:15. > :55:19.score for the Iranian! Three seconds to go, the clock stops! Now, the

:55:20. > :55:26.challenge will go back to that earlier incident. The referee just

:55:27. > :55:30.wanting to see if there will be a challenge. No. He's not allowed a

:55:31. > :55:34.challenge so what this means now is the Iranian has got the gold medal

:55:35. > :55:48.because he's the last wrestler to score and he's got it! Can you

:55:49. > :55:54.believe that? What a comeback! He was 6-0 down, Yazdani, and he's come

:55:55. > :55:58.back and won the gold medal. Well, that gold medal match had

:55:59. > :56:06.absolutely everything and there still may be more to come.

:56:07. > :56:20.The Russian coach - oh, he's been given a yellow card by the officials

:56:21. > :56:29.on the sideline! You had your opportunity. That's it.

:56:30. > :56:43.Go. Please. Well, my word... What scenes we've

:56:44. > :56:50.got here. Lots of emotion and drama. Controversy, a comeback-and-a-half.

:56:51. > :56:58.And an annoying injury to one of these competitors. Just had

:56:59. > :57:02.everything, that one, didn't it. There's your winner, your gold

:57:03. > :57:08.medallist, Hassan Yazdani of Iran. He's got it on the countback by

:57:09. > :57:17.virtue of being the last wrestler to score. So a six-all scoreline but

:57:18. > :57:26.the Iranian gets it on the countback. It's the sixth gold medal

:57:27. > :57:30.that Iran have won in freestyle wrestling in Olympic history. You'd

:57:31. > :57:35.be hard-pressed to find one more dramatic than that.

:57:36. > :57:39.What an incredible tussle. Well done to Hassan Yazdani, who won a silver

:57:40. > :57:43.medal in Las Vegas in last year's World Championships and now he has

:57:44. > :57:48.an Olympic gold medal. OK. It's been another incredible day at the Rio

:57:49. > :57:56.Olympic Games. Let's bring you all of tonight's headlines.

:57:57. > :58:01.Usain Bolt did it again. Victory in the 4 x 100m relay, the

:58:02. > :58:07.all-conquering Jamaican completing the triple-triple, leaving the

:58:08. > :58:12.Olympic stage for the final time with nine golds to his name.

:58:13. > :58:17.Historic gold for the GB hockey women, their first ever, beating the

:58:18. > :58:33.Netherlands after coming out on top in a thrilling penalty shoot-out.

:58:34. > :58:37.58-year-old Nicks kerks, elton has won Britain's first ever individual

:58:38. > :58:43.gold show jumping medal - Skelton. He kept his nerve in a jump-off to

:58:44. > :58:50.ensure his seventh Olympic appearance was one to savour.

:58:51. > :58:58.Not owl joyous celebrations today, however. Mohammed losing his match

:58:59. > :59:05.in the last second to his competitor from the Ivory Coast. He to settle

:59:06. > :59:09.from silver. Better news, though, for GB superheavyweight boxer Joe

:59:10. > :59:23.Joyce. A semifinal win today means he has a shot at gold on Sunday.

:59:24. > :59:29.There's a little bit of Robbie Keane going on there. Tom Bailey looks a

:59:30. > :59:33.good bet for a second medal in Rio. He scored an inpressive personal

:59:34. > :59:40.best to top the pile in tonight's ten metres platform preliminaries

:59:41. > :59:46.and will go for gold on Saturday. Four years ago, the GB 4 x 100m

:59:47. > :59:50.relay women failed to qualify for the London Olympic Games. Tonight,

:59:51. > :00:00.they are celebrating a bronze medal in Brazil. Congratulations to them.

:00:01. > :00:06.So, let's take a look at the medal table.

:00:07. > :00:11.Two gold medals ahead of China, 22 in fact won today. Golds for Great

:00:12. > :00:13.Britain women in hockey and Nick Skelton in the individual show

:00:14. > :00:18.jumping. Silver for Mohammed in the tae kwon

:00:19. > :00:22.do and there could be more gold medals to come. Doesn't that look

:00:23. > :00:26.absolutely marvellous? So, another golden day, then, for Great Britain,

:00:27. > :00:29.for the women's hockey team absolutely magnificent, showing

:00:30. > :00:33.plenty of Dutch courage to see off the Netherlands. As for that man,

:00:34. > :00:37.Usain Bolt, on cloud nine once again, after completing the

:00:38. > :00:40.triple-triple. From all of us here, about, ye for now.

:00:41. > :00:44.-- bye for now.
