:00:08. > :00:13.HAZEL IRVINE: You are watching a jump off for the medals in the

:00:14. > :00:16.individual show-jumping event here in Rio.

:00:17. > :00:21.Great Britain's Nick Skelton is one of the six competitors in it. He is

:00:22. > :00:27.the only one clear soap bar. This is the fourth competitor, Kent

:00:28. > :00:32.Farrington of the United States -- side bar. Coverage continues on BBC

:00:33. > :00:36.One, for those of you watching on BBC Two, I would politely ask you to

:00:37. > :00:37.reach for the remote and join us on the other side for the continuation

:00:38. > :00:50.of this jump off. Kent Farrington had the first fence

:00:51. > :00:56.down. He is galloping, really flying, but it is not going to beat

:00:57. > :01:03.Nick Skelton because he hit the first fence. And we have got a

:01:04. > :01:06.medal, no doubt we have got a medal. Last fence as well. Finishing on

:01:07. > :01:23.eight. Well, two to go and as it stands at

:01:24. > :01:26.the moment, we have definitely got a medal to take home from

:01:27. > :01:37.show-jumping. Get the champagne on ice. Will it be gold, will it be

:01:38. > :01:40.silver, will it be bronze? The owners just saying to Nick, you are

:01:41. > :01:52.going to be back in therefore a medal ceremony.

:01:53. > :02:06.All In and Fredricson for Sweden. He has been so consistent, that is why

:02:07. > :02:14.he is late in the draw. Him and Eric LeMay -- Eric Lamaze have won the

:02:15. > :02:26.right to be there. Nick Skelton was the first to go clear in 42.82.

:02:27. > :02:33.Fredricson is a very quick rider, forward with, motoring. He is clear.

:02:34. > :02:40.Little bit quicker, perhaps. It is close, it is very close. This turn

:02:41. > :02:47.is absolutely crucial. Just the last. The time to beat is 42.82. He

:02:48. > :02:55.is not going to do it. He is just a little bit slower and Nick is still

:02:56. > :03:00.in gold medal position. 43.30 five. Nick has got a medal, we have said

:03:01. > :03:05.that already. He has definitely got a medal at the moment. He is

:03:06. > :03:14.definitely going to get a silver one. The last one go will decide

:03:15. > :03:17.whether gold goes. I don't know about your heart, Mike, how much

:03:18. > :03:21.more of this can we take? Nick was the first to go, he has set the

:03:22. > :03:26.standard. He will definitely get the silver medal but the last man to go

:03:27. > :03:31.is one of the quickest in the world and he is a man who has done it all

:03:32. > :03:37.before. He did it in Hong Kong Beijing with the great Hickstead. He

:03:38. > :03:41.has had to buy horses to follow the great Hickstead but, my gosh, he has

:03:42. > :03:45.bought well and this horse sees him in with a real possibility but Nick

:03:46. > :03:54.has said such a good target. I repeat again, that time 42.82. He

:03:55. > :04:00.needs to be over the water at about 28.8 to be in touch. Eric Lamaze

:04:01. > :04:05.going for gold. A little bit wider into the second fence. Very tight

:04:06. > :04:11.here. Again, just a little bit wider. Taking a bit of a pull into

:04:12. > :04:18.the double. Still clear. We will look at the time check. I think this

:04:19. > :04:20.is a bit quicker. He is really covering the ground, galloping

:04:21. > :04:34.around this corner absolutely flat out. It's gone! Nick has got gold!

:04:35. > :04:43.What a competition! Four it is, for the record 42.0 nine. It means Nick

:04:44. > :04:48.Skelton will take the gold for Great Britain. The silver goes Fredricson

:04:49. > :04:57.with All In and it is for Eric Lamaze and Fine Lady. I did tell you

:04:58. > :05:01.this morning that was going to happen! We all hoped, we all dream,

:05:02. > :05:06.we all believed that Big Star and Nick Skelton could do it. He has

:05:07. > :05:11.nursed this horse, taken so much time and trouble to get fit and

:05:12. > :05:16.ready to come here and win the gold medal for Britain. What an

:05:17. > :05:22.extraordinary performance. You can see the embracing going on, just how

:05:23. > :05:28.popular this is. This man has hardly got a bone in his body, but he put

:05:29. > :05:33.it on the line, he put Big Star on the line. Their management skills

:05:34. > :05:38.shown not only in show-jumping but in racing two, the Skeltons have got

:05:39. > :05:42.that and it has all come down to a fabulous gold medal to end the

:05:43. > :05:49.equestrian Olympic Games here in Rio de Janeiro. It really is something

:05:50. > :05:53.that has been a dream and we wonder whether dreams do come true, but

:05:54. > :05:57.they have today. For Nick Skelton, all his dreams have come true.

:05:58. > :06:13.Beverley, the owner. Congratulations all round.

:06:14. > :06:20.Well, I don't know about you at home, but we are fairly drained

:06:21. > :06:26.here. There is Fredricson, hasn't he done well. He will take a little bit

:06:27. > :06:30.of pride out of that, because he has always been a great competitor, he

:06:31. > :06:36.rode in the Barcelona Olympics as an event rider but turned his attention

:06:37. > :06:43.to show-jumping. He has gone on climbing to what has turned out to

:06:44. > :06:47.be a silver medal individually. There is Diane Lampard. She has had

:06:48. > :06:50.her neck on the line as team manager. Disappointment for Britain

:06:51. > :06:57.in the team but it has all come right thanks to this man's efforts,

:06:58. > :07:02.Nick Skelton. It is good for show-jumping back in Britain, it is

:07:03. > :07:03.good for equestrian back in Britain. This man has really shown what

:07:04. > :07:16.determination and skill can do. Well, the medal ceremony won't be

:07:17. > :07:20.too far away but still the congratulations come ringing in. And

:07:21. > :07:23.look at Big Star. That is the champion, really. He knew he should

:07:24. > :07:29.have won an individual medal in London. He just hoped and hoped he

:07:30. > :07:32.might get another chance. It has gone so near to not happening but at

:07:33. > :07:35.the end of the day, all of the hard work, all of the patients has been

:07:36. > :07:45.rewarded with a gold medal at the Olympics. -- patience.

:07:46. > :07:52.HAZEL IRVINE: Nick Skelton, no wonder he is signing autographs, he

:07:53. > :07:56.is the star on Big Star. Big Star is the brightest star out there. Nick

:07:57. > :08:00.and Big Star the only horse and rider combination to go three rounds

:08:01. > :08:05.clear today and that was enough to give him a gold medal in his seventh

:08:06. > :08:08.Games, a record for a great British competitor, and he has been such a

:08:09. > :08:14.wonderful servant to equestrian sport in Great Britain, it is no

:08:15. > :08:18.less than he deserves. Gold for Nick Skelton, the first medal in the

:08:19. > :08:23.individual event for 44 years the Great Britain and it is gold. There

:08:24. > :08:27.will be a lot of celebrations, it is the 23rd gold for Britain in Rio and

:08:28. > :08:31.I am sure, Clare Balding, that one in particular will be so valued and

:08:32. > :08:34.so special to every member of the team.

:08:35. > :08:39.I can guarantee you this, when Nick Skelton gets to Lee McKenzie, he

:08:40. > :08:43.will be incredibly emotional. It was back in Athens when he really felt

:08:44. > :08:47.he should have won the gold medal. Suddenly had a fence down. It was a

:08:48. > :08:52.weird night when they had the final round, I think the spotlights were

:08:53. > :08:56.right in the horses' eyes and he felt he should have won a gold

:08:57. > :09:01.medal. Here he is at 58, his seventh Olympics and he has won gold. Medal

:09:02. > :09:04.ceremony, the interview and everything to come as we mop up the

:09:05. > :09:10.show-jumping but here is what we have to come this evening. Very

:09:11. > :09:13.shortly, we will show you Joe Joyce's semifinal, win that in the

:09:14. > :09:17.superheavyweight category and he is into the gold medal fight. At the

:09:18. > :09:20.same time, Lutalo Mohammad will be in the quarterfinal of the

:09:21. > :09:25.taekwondo, we will catch up with that. I will be speaking to Jade

:09:26. > :09:29.Jones, who defended her taekwondo title and we will be previewing

:09:30. > :09:34.tonight's hockey because at nine o'clock on BBC One, we are live at

:09:35. > :09:38.the gold medal match between Great Britain and the Netherlands. Let's

:09:39. > :09:43.had over towards the boxing because the first of the semifinals is under

:09:44. > :09:49.way and it features Tony Yoka of France against Filip Hrgovic of

:09:50. > :09:55.Croatia. Anthony Joshua is with me and the

:09:56. > :09:56.semifinals are the worst time to go out of the medals but at least you

:09:57. > :10:01.get a bronze medal in the boxing event. But no one will be thinking

:10:02. > :10:05.in these terms. Two big men and two big punches. Yes and as you said, no

:10:06. > :10:10.one wants to go out now, they have come this far and the mentality is,

:10:11. > :10:13.I might as well go all the way. I know Tony Yoka from France, I have

:10:14. > :10:20.sparred with him and he has a phenomenal jab, very quick. Filip

:10:21. > :10:24.Hrgovic was the last man to be Joe Joyce. It is interesting to see the

:10:25. > :10:29.level and who Joe could possibly be facing. Two giants, as you can see.

:10:30. > :10:33.First of all, this is the first semifinal in the superheavyweight

:10:34. > :10:40.category and Richie Woodhall and Ron mocking Tosh ready to go.

:10:41. > :10:48.-- Ron Macintosh. RONALD MCINTOSH: This is a match

:10:49. > :10:51.between number macro boxers who know very -- each other very well. The

:10:52. > :10:56.man in red, operating on the perimeter of the Ring, Tony Yoka,

:10:57. > :11:02.the number one ranked boxer in the world, reigning Commonwealth Games

:11:03. > :11:06.gold-medallist, and his opponent is the reigning European championship

:11:07. > :11:13.gold-medallist, Filip Hrgovic from Croatia. They know each other very

:11:14. > :11:17.well, they met at the quarterfinal stage last year, and Tony Yoka

:11:18. > :11:22.prevailed, and they met way back when they were teenagers in the 2010

:11:23. > :11:25.youths championship gold medal bout and on that occasion, the man in

:11:26. > :11:29.blue had his hand raised to take world youth gold. So the rivalry is

:11:30. > :11:33.tied one-on-one, who will prevail here to go through and contest

:11:34. > :11:37.Olympic gold? RICHIE WOODHALL: The majority of the

:11:38. > :11:42.time, both of these boxes have the height to reach over their opponent,

:11:43. > :11:48.but here, it is even Stephen. Tony Yoka has the slight advantage of

:11:49. > :11:52.prevailing over his opponents in the tournament but Hrgovic has started

:11:53. > :11:56.very well, he is more convincing with that jab. He is starting to

:11:57. > :12:01.settle into a rhythm, the man in blue. Yoka a little bit slow on the

:12:02. > :12:11.outside, needs a bit more time and space to work. But this is not a bad

:12:12. > :12:16.start from Hrgovic. Flat-footed and less dynamic around the ring but

:12:17. > :12:23.Yoka, only 24, as is Hrgovic, has been around the elite end of boxing

:12:24. > :12:29.for a long time, the yoke on Yoka was that he didn't have the talent

:12:30. > :12:35.to go with resolve, but you can't say that any more. But you can say

:12:36. > :12:41.the same about Hrgovic, so who is going to come out on top? The

:12:42. > :12:46.flat-footed boxer in blue is throwing the greater volume of

:12:47. > :12:50.punches. Not only that, he is throwing better punches going

:12:51. > :12:54.forward, so he is actually looking more impressive on that front foot.

:12:55. > :13:00.It is difficult to give anything for Yoka. He has had a little bit of

:13:01. > :13:03.success occasionally but on that back foot, he's boxing very

:13:04. > :13:08.negatively than me. And Hrgovic is beating him to the punches, getting

:13:09. > :13:13.there with his right hand. This is not a bad round for the man in blue.

:13:14. > :13:18.Very good start, commanding the centre ring. In with a left

:13:19. > :13:23.uppercut. A flurry from Yoka in response. A lot of French fans in

:13:24. > :13:27.attendance, cheering everything he is doing but is he doing enough to

:13:28. > :13:38.overcome the almost incessant jab being poked out by Hrgovic. That was

:13:39. > :13:43.a good hand by Yoka. BELL. A very good round of boxing.

:13:44. > :13:52.The man in the centre of the picture ahead of boxing. Yoka is one half of

:13:53. > :13:56.France's golden couple. The woman he is planning to marry is contesting

:13:57. > :14:01.lightweight gold at the end of this session, but back to this contest.

:14:02. > :14:05.The man in blue lands with the better shots per me during this

:14:06. > :14:09.round, more positive on the front foot. It took awhile for Yoka to get

:14:10. > :14:16.into the round. Let's have a look at the scores. I totally disagree with

:14:17. > :14:24.that. Hrgovic from the totally won that round. It is amazing that Yoka

:14:25. > :14:27.has got it on the back foot. -- Hrgovic for me totally won that

:14:28. > :14:40.round. BELL.

:14:41. > :14:44.We are into the second round of this 91 kilograms plus superheavyweight

:14:45. > :14:47.semifinal and the man wearing blue, who boxed in this type of posture

:14:48. > :14:51.and vein throughout round one conceded the opening round across

:14:52. > :14:57.the board. He got to him with a good right hand, Hrgovic. Tony Yoka took

:14:58. > :15:01.the opening round for all three judges, so he is in a good position

:15:02. > :15:05.coming into the second round. The second semifinal, featuring the

:15:06. > :15:08.number three and number two seeds, that is next and features Great

:15:09. > :15:13.Britain's Joe Joyce, so stick around for that one as he tries to book his

:15:14. > :15:18.place in the gold-medal bout. But Yoka, when he was really out of had

:15:19. > :15:24.punched, had boxed, at least from our vantage point, the majority of

:15:25. > :15:31.round one has taken the opening round unanimously -- out rocks. He

:15:32. > :15:34.is a lucky lad. It took him two minutes of the opening round to get

:15:35. > :15:39.going. He had a bit of success here and there but for me, the man in

:15:40. > :15:46.blue is in control. Here now on that front foot again. The judges

:15:47. > :15:51.obviously like that back foot. That is not too bad. Goodbody shot from

:15:52. > :15:57.Hrgovic a few moments ago. Part of a two-man Croatian boxing team which

:15:58. > :16:01.represents progress as he gets through Alberto punches. Parodied by

:16:02. > :16:07.Yoka but some of them were effective. Cracking right hand down

:16:08. > :16:12.the pipe by Yoka and Hrgovic counters. The Croatian team

:16:13. > :16:17.represents progress, they didn't have any representatives in London.

:16:18. > :16:24.Hrgovic made it through virtue of his ranking in season five and here

:16:25. > :16:30.he is in the semifinal of the superheavyweight. And he is having

:16:31. > :16:33.success with that right hand again. Stiff straight punches. Yoka firing

:16:34. > :16:39.back with shots of his own. Standing his ground. Yoka is keeping his

:16:40. > :16:44.guard are pretty high but they are getting through, these right hands.

:16:45. > :16:49.The Croatian is holding his feet, he is a bit slow on his feet, but that

:16:50. > :16:53.the same time, he has a good laid-back movement, he lays back and

:16:54. > :16:58.makes his opponent miss. Fairly low guard, inviting a shot from the

:16:59. > :17:03.Frenchman but at this stage, again, the Croatian is boxing better for

:17:04. > :17:08.me. Good right hand again from Hrgovic. Yoka breathing through a

:17:09. > :17:11.slightly open-mouthed as he takes another good right hand and his

:17:12. > :17:16.attempted counter was rather ponderous. Good right hand from the

:17:17. > :17:20.man in red. If the name Filip Hrgovic starts familiar per boxing

:17:21. > :17:23.fans, as he lands another good right hand and Yoka styles to look weary

:17:24. > :17:29.as it takes more punches between his high held gloves... Good portion of

:17:30. > :17:35.the round for Hrgovic. The right hand wasn't too far away. Yoka comes

:17:36. > :17:39.back with an eye-catching jab. And a cracking right hand right on the

:17:40. > :17:43.bell. If the name Hrgovic sounds familiar in a boxing sense and you

:17:44. > :17:48.don't follow Olympic style boxing, he is the man who prevented the much

:17:49. > :17:55.mooted contest between David Hay and Tyson Fury because in David Hay's

:17:56. > :17:56.last spa, the man in blue cut his I write open to prevent that contest

:17:57. > :18:05.taking place. Hrgovic does the better work going

:18:06. > :18:08.forward. Yoka had his moments again. But the aggression should be

:18:09. > :18:13.favouring Hrgovic. He only gets one score. He's very, very unlucky here,

:18:14. > :18:18.this man in blue. Again, I'd probably disagreed with nine or ten

:18:19. > :18:21.contests here. We're on our 262, that's not too bad from that number

:18:22. > :18:23.of contests. But I don't agree with the scores here. I think the man in

:18:24. > :18:40.blue should be winning this fight. Into the third and final round we go

:18:41. > :18:45.then. The man in blue, Filip Hrgovic of Croatia has it all square for

:18:46. > :18:51.judge B, having taken a share of that round, of the second round. But

:18:52. > :18:55.he's trailing by 20-18 for judges A and C. Of course, more than any

:18:56. > :19:00.other weight class, the superheavyweight division, these

:19:01. > :19:05.bouts can be brought about, the conclusion can be brought about by

:19:06. > :19:09.one single shot. Concentration is vital for both, but particularly for

:19:10. > :19:13.Yoka. Because Hrgovic will, no doubt, be aware, his corner may have

:19:14. > :19:16.been informed that he's trailing in this contest, despite boxing very

:19:17. > :19:26.well indeed throughout rounds one and two. Good left hand to the body

:19:27. > :19:30.from Yoka. I'm at a loss what this Croatian can do to improve the

:19:31. > :19:34.situation for himself. He's boxing well on the front foot. Maybe,

:19:35. > :19:38.making his opponent miss here and there. He's got fairly slow feet.

:19:39. > :19:43.But he's doing very well in my opinion. Maybe he's got to keep that

:19:44. > :19:46.guard up higher for when Yoka does throw the long, straight shots.

:19:47. > :19:50.Yoka, to his credit, he's blocking a lot of these on the gloves. But the

:19:51. > :19:55.volume of work is coming from the man in blue. He's really got to go

:19:56. > :19:59.for it. He probably needs to knock him out now. And down goes Yoka.

:20:00. > :20:03.He's damaged his ankle. How significant is this going to be? We

:20:04. > :20:09.haven't seen much evidence during the course of this tournament, he

:20:10. > :20:12.relies on his legs, as one of his primary assets. Wonderful mover and

:20:13. > :20:20.he's complaining that he's gone over on his right ankle. Was there a

:20:21. > :20:24.shot? No, he just shtumbles. So he just adjusted his feet to move out

:20:25. > :20:31.of the way of a punch and gone over on his ankle. Done that a couple of

:20:32. > :20:35.times, Ron! It's like red rag to a bull now for Hrgovic. He's really

:20:36. > :20:41.going for it. That's spurred him on a bit, the man in blue. In the

:20:42. > :20:49.professional ranks Michael Grant, the towering heavyweight suffered a

:20:50. > :20:57.similar fate against big time McCline. He damaged knee ligaments

:20:58. > :21:01.while tripping to the canvas. To impair a boxer in that regard is

:21:02. > :21:06.going to make this a very difficult 55 seconds to negotiate. Yoka a

:21:07. > :21:10.fleet footed mover at his best, even though we haven't seen much evidence

:21:11. > :21:14.of it during Rio 2016. Is he going to be reduced to a stationary target

:21:15. > :21:20.for a heavy hitter like Filip Hrgovic. I don't think it will be

:21:21. > :21:24.that much of a problem. He's not been fleet footed in this contest.

:21:25. > :21:32.Or in the tournament. But it's there if he needs. It It may affect him

:21:33. > :21:41.now. This is a fairly poor display here. Hrgovic is doing the better

:21:42. > :21:46.work on the front foot. Still looking to find that knockout punch,

:21:47. > :21:49.Hrgovic. Yoka giving impressions of being weary, but his boxing stance

:21:50. > :21:59.remains solid. He feels that he's seen this one out now. Tony Yoka

:22:00. > :22:02.given the status of the score card coming into the third and final

:22:03. > :22:07.round, Tony Yoka will be going through to contest the Olympic Gold

:22:08. > :22:13.Medal bout here. Because Croatia's Filip Hrgovic wasn't able to produce

:22:14. > :22:19.the 10-8 round he needed to get things back to even Stephens for

:22:20. > :22:22.judges A and C. It will be Yoka, the tournament's number one seed and

:22:23. > :22:25.reigning World Championship Gold Medallist who will be going through

:22:26. > :22:29.to contest the Gold Medal bout here at Rio 2016, but how badly impaired

:22:30. > :22:34.will he be by going over on that ankle? You've seen the way he tried

:22:35. > :22:38.to adjust his feet to get out of the way of a punch and he's gone over on

:22:39. > :22:40.his ankle. This could really affect him in the final. He will have to

:22:41. > :22:44.have it strapped certainly. It's like a spran. That boot will be

:22:45. > :22:49.holding it together. I've had the same problem in a couple of

:22:50. > :22:51.contests. Your boot, when you take it off, that's when the swelling

:22:52. > :23:02.starts. He will have a few problems there. He's very lucky, in my

:23:03. > :23:16.opinion. Ladies and gentleman, the winner by split decision... In the

:23:17. > :23:20.red corner, Tony Yoka. So Tony Yoka the reigning World Championship Gold

:23:21. > :23:25.Medallist goes through to contest Olympic gold. He's already won

:23:26. > :23:29.France's first ever medal in this weight division. What colour will it

:23:30. > :23:33.be now? It's at least silver as he goes through to the final. Filip

:23:34. > :23:37.Hrgovic, Croatia's first ever medallist in the boxing ring,

:23:38. > :23:41.terrific performance by him. He comes out with a bronze medal having

:23:42. > :23:50.been defeated by his familiar rival here. Richie thought that was

:23:51. > :23:54.surprising, what due make of that? For me, I always say it's best to

:23:55. > :24:01.knock out your opponents so you don't leave it down to the judges. I

:24:02. > :24:04.saw phenomenal boxing combination of punches and power from the Croatian.

:24:05. > :24:08.The Frenchman was trying to counterpunch. For me, the Croatian

:24:09. > :24:12.was more busy. You'd have given it to him? If I was a judge, I would

:24:13. > :24:16.have looked at it and given it to the Croatian. It's going to be the

:24:17. > :24:21.Frenchman who's gone through shot I think, who goes into the final on

:24:22. > :24:25.Sunday afternoon, the very last contest of the 275 here over the

:24:26. > :24:29.course of the last fortnight. The key thing is will he have a British

:24:30. > :24:36.opponent on Sunday afternoon? Four years of hard work have brought Joe

:24:37. > :24:51.Joyce to this point. And again. Other side. And again.

:24:52. > :25:16.Touch. And again. Move. Step. Good. And again. Up. And again. A nice

:25:17. > :25:19.shot of Anthony saying hard luck to the Croatian defeated in the first

:25:20. > :25:27.semifinal. As Joe comes into the ring, you know his opponent pretty

:25:28. > :25:34.well. Tell us. The guy he's boxing now, who is his opponent now that

:25:35. > :25:40.he's boxing? He's fighting the kaz ack that you fought. Oh, Mr Dychko.

:25:41. > :25:45.Unbelievable jab. Great experience because he was in 2012 as well. Now

:25:46. > :25:48.in 2016, he's filled out a bit more. He was younger there. It will be

:25:49. > :25:56.interesting to see the development that the four years of training his

:25:57. > :26:01.given his opponent. Here he comes all 6'9" of him. Will Joe be excited

:26:02. > :26:05.by the prospect or nervous? You can't help but be nervous. These

:26:06. > :26:09.guys have had tough draws from the get go. The Great British team have

:26:10. > :26:12.been with world champions and British champions. There will be

:26:13. > :26:18.nerve US. Dychko is a medallist already. Joe's had many rounds with

:26:19. > :26:23.him. Joe handles me in sparring very well. I've beaten Dychko. I hope

:26:24. > :26:27.he's got the right mind set because everything below the neck down is

:26:28. > :26:30.physically capable. As long as his mind is right, it should be a good

:26:31. > :26:36.night for him. Here we go with the second semifinal of the men's

:26:37. > :26:42.superheavyweight at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with Richie

:26:43. > :26:50.and Ron. Plenty of British support in

:26:51. > :26:53.attendance for Joe Joyce. The boxer in the blue corner, the boxer from

:26:54. > :27:15.Kazakhstan, Ivan Dychko. Head up, no holding. Joe Joyce is

:27:16. > :27:28.6'6" but he's looking up at Ivan Dychko, who is 6'9". We're under way

:27:29. > :27:30.in the 91 kilogram plus superheavyweight semifinal, being

:27:31. > :27:34.contested between boxers from Great Britain and Kazakhstan. The taller

:27:35. > :27:37.boxer, the man in blue, upon his toes, operating on the perimeter of

:27:38. > :27:44.the ring and making a very good start with straight shots is Ivan

:27:45. > :27:46.Dychko, the reigning Olympic bronze medallist, a former World

:27:47. > :27:51.Championship Silver Medallist. He won his first in 2013, took that

:27:52. > :27:56.silver. Then he's also took silver at the back end of last year

:27:57. > :28:01.incredibly experienced the 26-year-old. His opponent is Joe

:28:02. > :28:05.Joyce, the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, reigning European

:28:06. > :28:10.Games champion and comes in as World Championship bronze medallist from

:28:11. > :28:19.Doha last year. He's got to be sensible pressure from Joe Joyce.

:28:20. > :28:23.He's got to force the pace here. His opponent, in the last bout, he boxed

:28:24. > :28:28.similar, light on his feet. But then he slows down and then he tired in

:28:29. > :28:33.that contest. Important that Joyce sets the pace, tries to cut off the

:28:34. > :28:37.ring space a little bit better and throw the punches, threes and fours.

:28:38. > :28:41.Tire this man out. If he tires him out, you will see him hold on the

:28:42. > :28:46.inside. Joe has got to set the pace and work rate here. That is one of

:28:47. > :28:52.Joe Joyce's strong suits. He keeps on coming. Can he cut off the ring

:28:53. > :28:56.against this fleet footed boxer who likes to glide around the perimeter

:28:57. > :28:59.and work at his own pace poking out that long jab. He's filled out

:29:00. > :29:05.considerably in the previous four years, when he picked up that

:29:06. > :29:11.Olympic bronze, losing to Anthony Joshua at the semifinal stage. Joe

:29:12. > :29:15.Joyce, who can set such a high work rate, but can he pin this man down?

:29:16. > :29:20.As Richie pointed out, he faded alarmingly in the quarter final

:29:21. > :29:23.victory over the Commonwealth Games bronze medallist. Joe Joyce

:29:24. > :29:26.following him around the ring at the moment. Can't cut off the avenues of

:29:27. > :29:33.escape that Dychko is managing to find. He has to hurt his opponent

:29:34. > :29:39.down stairs. You have to target the body with a good mover. If Joe Joyce

:29:40. > :29:43.can get close enough with his straight right, certainly, then the

:29:44. > :29:47.double jab and the right upper cut down stairs to slow this fellow

:29:48. > :29:51.down. He will slow down if he's hurt down stairs. That's what Joe Joyce

:29:52. > :29:55.has got to do. This is predictable, the first round. I thought it would

:29:56. > :29:59.be like this. It's how fast you can slow this guy down with a heavy,

:30:00. > :30:02.fast work rate and pace. Joe Joyce managing to get through with a

:30:03. > :30:06.couple of body shots. Now he's getting closer. He landed the right

:30:07. > :30:13.jab and followed that with a right cross over the top. Joe Joyce a

:30:14. > :30:17.clubbing puncher. If he can get into range and target that long range,

:30:18. > :30:22.look at the manner in which Dychko dropped his right arm. That's a lot

:30:23. > :30:28.of poundage, testing the strength of the boxing ring there. They fall to

:30:29. > :30:33.the canvas. Nobody appears to be injured. The contest

:30:34. > :30:36.resumesment -- resumes. Joe Joyce getting closer, not interested in

:30:37. > :30:39.the touch of gloves with Ivan Dychko to conclude the first round. Joe

:30:40. > :30:45.Joyce is here on a mission, and it's to get to the Gold Medal bout. Joe,

:30:46. > :30:56.good boy. What you've got to do is close the gap and don't give him

:30:57. > :30:59.room. You need to close, see. Coach Lee pleased in that corner saying

:31:00. > :31:08.he's beginning to blow. The strategy clear. Dychko sweeps the opening

:31:09. > :31:12.round across the board. They would have expected him to go down. He's

:31:13. > :31:16.got to have a better second round and slow the feet down of Dychko.

:31:17. > :31:20.That will be the plan now. He's going to throw a few more shots, Joe

:31:21. > :31:22.Joyce, cut the ring space off better but get to his man certainly. This

:31:23. > :31:42.is the crucial round, round two. We're into the second round of this

:31:43. > :31:45.superheavyweight semifinal. Tony Yoka the reigning World Championship

:31:46. > :31:49.Gold Medallist is waiting in the final. He's beaten most of these

:31:50. > :31:53.men, most recently in the World Championships. Joyce onto the front

:31:54. > :31:58.foot and closing the gap on his man, as he walks him down. Straight away

:31:59. > :32:01.Joe Joyce got him with three, four punches down stairs then. He's held

:32:02. > :32:09.his feet. He will try and grab Dychko. We know what he's about.

:32:10. > :32:12.He's starting to tire now. Immediately, that's a good right

:32:13. > :32:16.hand from Dychko as he changes direction. Joyce is beginning to get

:32:17. > :32:19.closer. Can he begin to make that investment in body shots that will

:32:20. > :32:24.pay dividends as the contest progresses? It's that right upper

:32:25. > :32:28.cut, measured with the jab. There it was, right upper cut to the body.

:32:29. > :32:35.That slows the man down. That's better work, Joe Joyce. Dychko just

:32:36. > :32:41.moments ago, began breathing through an open mouth, gulping oxygen. Joyce

:32:42. > :32:45.looking to unload heavy artillery to the long, lean body of the man in

:32:46. > :32:50.blue. Can he land that punch out. Good right hand over the top, a

:32:51. > :32:54.grimmace from Dychko. The man in blue is hurt. Dychko fighting back.

:32:55. > :32:58.Buff I think he's suffering here. This is where he switches the

:32:59. > :33:02.attack. He's got to switch down stairs with the body shots Joe

:33:03. > :33:08.Joyce. Better. Good left down stairs. Better work from Joyce.

:33:09. > :33:15.Clubbing punches, slamming into the rib cage of Dychko. Anthony Joshua

:33:16. > :33:19.was telling us earlier that when Joyce get you in that position, look

:33:20. > :33:22.at the manner in which he can turn and sink the hooks just above the

:33:23. > :33:26.ring belt. Any veteran will tell you that the pain of a body shot is

:33:27. > :33:31.something that stays with you. It may not put you on the floor but it

:33:32. > :33:35.will help to rapidly deplete the energy and reduce the movement in

:33:36. > :33:44.the legs. One minute ago in the second round, Joe Joyce getting.

:33:45. > :33:46.Dychko flat-footed, struggling to get on his toes. Keep working,

:33:47. > :33:49.throws those threes and fours downstairs. Got to find the room and

:33:50. > :33:54.space on the inside. This man is going to hold him, but that is

:33:55. > :34:00.better. More dominant, Joe Joyce, on the front foot. The movement of Ivan

:34:01. > :34:04.Dychko visibly slowing with every passing moment. The body shot is

:34:05. > :34:10.beginning to reap dividends for big Joe Joyce as he goes looking for his

:34:11. > :34:15.man once again. Dychko, his movement slowing to that of a glacier, as Joe

:34:16. > :34:25.Joyce continues to move him down and unload point -- punches. He needed a

:34:26. > :34:29.better round, we said it and he has had it, Joe Joyce, he has slowed his

:34:30. > :34:40.man down but he has got to punch more on the inside. This Kazakis

:34:41. > :34:42.getting desperate in the holding. BELL

:34:43. > :34:47.And Joe Joyce fixes his man with a baleful stare as they make their way

:34:48. > :34:52.back to the corners. JOHN INVERDALE: Anthony Joshua is

:34:53. > :34:56.throwing every punch with Joe Joyce in the fight, what you make of the

:34:57. > :35:00.situation and how will he make the final round? Just how he did in that

:35:01. > :35:04.round, he is putting pressure on Dychko, giving him no room to throw

:35:05. > :35:08.the jab. Joe is working him to the body and slowing him down and

:35:09. > :35:13.causing him all sorts of problems. Dychko is a rangy fighter, give the

:35:14. > :35:17.range and he will jab your head. When Joe is out of range, he's

:35:18. > :35:21.throwing the right hand. He is up and should be leading and I want him

:35:22. > :35:25.to continue the same thing he has done in the second round and he will

:35:26. > :35:27.slow him right down in the third. Here we go with the moment of truth,

:35:28. > :35:39.the third and final round. RONALD MCINTOSH: So Joe Joyce has

:35:40. > :35:43.responded brilliantly to sweep the second round unanimously and now he

:35:44. > :35:47.comes out like a freight train on a mission, walking down his man and

:35:48. > :35:53.trying to target both head and body of Ivan Dychko in his pursuit of a

:35:54. > :35:57.place in the gold-medal bout. Dychko is suffering. It is going to be a

:35:58. > :36:02.torrid three minutes for Dychko, he is on his feet, he has rallied a

:36:03. > :36:06.little bit but he keeps walking on two. Here comes Joe Joyce again. He

:36:07. > :36:13.is wilting down to the canvas, he can barely hold his boxing stance.

:36:14. > :36:18.He has cut beneath his right eye as problems begin to mount up. Joe

:36:19. > :36:26.Joyce swinging for the fences with a big overhand right. There is a

:36:27. > :36:31.saying in GB, "Set about them, Joe." That is what he has got to do, keep

:36:32. > :36:36.going forward, switching the attack from body to head. He is doing the

:36:37. > :36:42.right thing but he has to leave no doubt in the judges' mines, he has

:36:43. > :36:46.to work here. Dychko, the two-time Asian continental champion, looking

:36:47. > :36:51.to mad rally. He is a proud individual but that left hand to the

:36:52. > :36:55.body sickening him. The referee intimating it may have been low.

:36:56. > :37:00.Dychko with a negative response in terms of his body language. Terrific

:37:01. > :37:04.work to the body again from Joyce. Dychko being given a real working

:37:05. > :37:10.over as Joyce continues to find a home for his punches. He has

:37:11. > :37:14.exhausted Dychko. He is trying to get up on his toes but the body

:37:15. > :37:20.shots are hurting him. Joyce has to keep it going, has to switch the

:37:21. > :37:23.attack. Body to head and then back downstairs. Ivan Dychko seemingly

:37:24. > :37:27.running on fumes, fighting on instinct but still standing his

:37:28. > :37:32.ground and punching out shots that will keep Joe Joyce at bay. Joe

:37:33. > :37:37.Joyce winding up that right hand before landing it to the body.

:37:38. > :37:41.Lovely shots again by Joyce. Got to find a bit of relaxation to get the

:37:42. > :37:47.faster punches home. He is exhausted, is Dychko. But still he

:37:48. > :37:53.stands. Jolting left hand drive the man backwards from Joyce. Dychko,

:37:54. > :37:58.ready to fall after being chopped down to the body like a tall tree.

:37:59. > :38:01.Joyce on the cusp perhaps of stopping his man. Can he produce a

:38:02. > :38:06.sustained final assault that would take it out of the hands of the

:38:07. > :38:11.judges? Marching his man backwards with a heavy are sold. Good right

:38:12. > :38:17.hand to the body. Still Dychko stands. It has been a great last 30

:38:18. > :38:20.seconds the Joe Joyce but he has to finish the contest strong. He has to

:38:21. > :38:26.show the judges that he is there at the end punching and looks the one

:38:27. > :38:30.in control. Dychko trying to fight back but Joe Joyce is unrelenting in

:38:31. > :38:36.his forward march. Can he find a couple of quality shots?

:38:37. > :38:40.BELL Terrific performance from Joe Joyce.

:38:41. > :38:44.He raises his arms immediately and their celebration in the red corner

:38:45. > :38:48.because Great Britain's Joe Joyce, who conceded the opening round

:38:49. > :38:52.unanimously, responded brilliantly around number two to take that ran

:38:53. > :38:58.from all three judges and then sustain his are sold round number

:38:59. > :39:03.three and now surely, Great Britain's Joe Joyce will go through

:39:04. > :39:06.to the Olympic gold-medal bout in the competition and look to emulate

:39:07. > :39:13.the accomplishment of Anthony Joshua and Audley Harrison, who occupied

:39:14. > :39:15.top spot on the Seve superheavyweight podium. Tremendous

:39:16. > :39:20.left hook that went in and the body language at the end of the contest,

:39:21. > :39:26.it was Joyce on the front foot, it was better from him. He has got it

:39:27. > :39:37.for me, he is going through, got to be. Ladies and gentlemen, the winner

:39:38. > :39:47.by unanimous decision... In the red corner... Joe Joyce! Great Britain's

:39:48. > :39:51.Joe Joyce is through to the gold-medal bout in the

:39:52. > :39:56.superheavyweight division. A terrific come from behind victory on

:39:57. > :39:59.the scorecards over the reigning two-time world championship

:40:00. > :40:03.silver-medallist Ivan Dychko. He started slowly, he had trouble with

:40:04. > :40:07.movement in the opening round but he would not be denied. He continued

:40:08. > :40:11.his forward march, continued to target the body and he is through to

:40:12. > :40:20.contest Olympic gold in the superheavyweight division.

:40:21. > :40:32.A cameo of Caballero from Joe Joyce -- capoeira.

:40:33. > :40:36.JOHN INVERDALE: Virtual Jewish reception from the crowd for Joe

:40:37. > :40:45.Joyce's balletic choreography in the ring -- a tumultuous reception. I am

:40:46. > :40:49.so happy for him, he has come from earls filled, grassroots, got a

:40:50. > :40:55.tough draw and has guaranteed himself a place in the final, I am

:40:56. > :41:00.so happy for him -- from Earlsfield. He lost the first round, any seeds

:41:01. > :41:03.of doubt in your mind? Maybe he is a fighter that gives the warm up, he

:41:04. > :41:08.is like a steam train and got the engine going and from there on, he

:41:09. > :41:11.was flying and all he needs to do in the second and third round is do

:41:12. > :41:15.what he did in the second, keep the pressure on. I could see he was

:41:16. > :41:24.slowly breaking down Ivan Dychko and that is how he got a decision. You

:41:25. > :41:28.got involved in that, you were throwing and evading every punch. It

:41:29. > :41:33.is easy from the outside, I was screaming do this and do that, but

:41:34. > :41:37.inside, it is a totally different ball game. So all I wanted to do was

:41:38. > :41:41.send him positive energy. I just wanted him to win, I wanted him to

:41:42. > :41:46.throw the right, the left, every punch in the book to get a decision

:41:47. > :41:50.but he made it happen. This is Joe Joyce's moment. Ukip screaming,

:41:51. > :41:59."Keep going forward." You can't leave any doubt in the judges' minds

:42:00. > :42:03.-- Ukip screaming. You can't, you saw Dychko jabbing at the start but

:42:04. > :42:10.as the rounds went on, he kept going and we will call him Steam Train

:42:11. > :42:17.Joe. We Will Try And Talk To Him But We Are A Bit Down The Pecking Order.

:42:18. > :42:22.He Is In The Next-door Pen To Us. It Is So Loud In Here At The Moment. I

:42:23. > :42:27.Don't Think We Have Actually Got Time To Hear From Him Now But I'm

:42:28. > :42:31.Sure the interview we record with him, you will see later tonight.

:42:32. > :42:45.Bolding macro we we will definitely here. His final

:42:46. > :42:48.will be on Sunday. In the last 40 minutes, a man who broke his neck

:42:49. > :42:50.and retired from riding and had a hip replacement in 2011 has become

:42:51. > :42:55.Britain's first ever individual snow jumping champion -- show-jumping.

:42:56. > :43:02.Nick Skelton is a phenomenon. He has come back from so much, he was

:43:03. > :43:06.desperate to win an individual medal. He set a time that no one can

:43:07. > :43:11.be done with the 13-year-old stallion Big Star, he ensured that

:43:12. > :43:18.at the 23rd time at the Olympics, this was played.

:43:19. > :44:02.Is CLARE BALDING: a hugely emotional moment and afterwards, he spoke to

:44:03. > :44:05.Lee McKenzie. The individual goal, this is

:44:06. > :44:09.something you have worked so hard one dreamt of, how does it feel to

:44:10. > :44:16.have achieved it? It is unbelievable. I am speechless, for

:44:17. > :44:20.once. The horse was amazing today. He has been really unlucky the last

:44:21. > :44:23.few days but I did it the other way around in London, and it didn't pay

:44:24. > :44:27.off, so probably just as has been done for him today and he really

:44:28. > :44:33.deserves it. He has been incredible and it has been a hard, hard road,

:44:34. > :44:39.because he hasn't been sound at and the last competition he won was in

:44:40. > :44:44.Aachen, the Grand Prix in 2013, so today was a good day to win.

:44:45. > :44:48.Everybody has worked at getting the horse back on the road and it is

:44:49. > :44:52.amazing. You almost have parallel lines, you have both had your

:44:53. > :44:55.injuries. You retired, came back from that neck injury. There must

:44:56. > :45:00.the dark days when you wondered whether the horse would make it to

:45:01. > :45:04.another Olympics. -- there must have been. How hard has it been for both

:45:05. > :45:07.of you? It has been tough, especially the last three years,

:45:08. > :45:13.really, because I knew if we get it right, he is well capable of doing

:45:14. > :45:18.it. He's probably one of the best horses... Definitely the best horse

:45:19. > :45:22.I have ever seen, it is a big statement, but he is an incredible

:45:23. > :45:26.horse. He knows exactly what is going on, he knows when it is really

:45:27. > :45:31.important and you can ride him and put pressure on him and he takes it,

:45:32. > :45:34.you know? He is amazing. You really set the standard today, it was

:45:35. > :45:38.crucial to get out of the blocks early in the jump off and put the

:45:39. > :45:44.pressure is on the others? To be honest, I prefer to go first. He is

:45:45. > :45:47.a fast horse. I went quick enough but I didn't go stupid and the

:45:48. > :45:55.course worked great for me. The last macro term, he locked up on me --

:45:56. > :45:59.the last term. But if I had a good flight for that one, it would have

:46:00. > :46:05.been really tight. It went the right way and it was good. We know you

:46:06. > :46:11.have no been 27 Olympic Games. Please tell us there is going to be

:46:12. > :46:17.an eighth Olympic Games! I think so. I think when he retires, I think I

:46:18. > :46:22.will stop as well. I don't think he will make another one, he will be 17

:46:23. > :46:24.then and I will be too old. Well, enjoy every minute, thank you so

:46:25. > :46:32.much. Thank you. CLARE BALDING: when Nick

:46:33. > :46:38.says too old, he is 58, the oldest winner since Joshua Millner in 1968.

:46:39. > :46:42.But we could have more first timers as it were at an Olympics tonight

:46:43. > :46:45.because for the very first time, GREAT BRITAIN's women hockey players

:46:46. > :46:52.are into the gold medal match, we will be showing it live on BBC One,

:46:53. > :46:57.uninterrupted and I have three members of the hockey team alongside

:46:58. > :47:01.me to discuss the chances of the women against the Netherlands

:47:02. > :47:04.tonight. Dan shingles, Dan Fox and David Ames. Dan, there were various

:47:05. > :47:10.injuries in the semifinals, have you seen the women and how are they? We

:47:11. > :47:14.saw them at breakfast and I think they had a team meeting. The mood is

:47:15. > :47:18.great, they seem to be quite relaxed, couple of injuries but we

:47:19. > :47:19.have had assurances they have been dealt with and the girls are really

:47:20. > :47:27.ready to go. The women didn't qualify, didn't get

:47:28. > :47:30.out of the group stages, then a bronze medal and now this Gold Medal

:47:31. > :47:34.match. What do you put the rise down to? They have a brilliant team

:47:35. > :47:37.spirit. We train with them almost every day. It's good to see how

:47:38. > :47:42.they've developed that spirit as a side. You saw in the semifinal

:47:43. > :47:45.against New Zealand, they got a few knocks, a few dumps and bruises, but

:47:46. > :47:51.nothing held them back. They've been brilliant. David, my arm is not that

:47:52. > :47:54.long - the conditions, that blue pitch is exactly the same as you've

:47:55. > :48:00.been training on, has that helped? It's been massive. The girls have

:48:01. > :48:04.used it as much as they could over the last few months and years.

:48:05. > :48:07.They've done brilliantly. Superb journey for those girls. Hopefully

:48:08. > :48:11.they can do the business tonight. The heat shouldn't be a factor,

:48:12. > :48:16.should it, because it's an evening match? No, come 5pm, the sun goes

:48:17. > :48:20.down and it gets quite cool, perfect conditions for our girls. They play

:48:21. > :48:23.in conditions which have been 30 degrees plus. Tonight will be no

:48:24. > :48:27.different in terms of what they played in the semifinals as well.

:48:28. > :48:32.They'll have no complaints about being quite cool. A few questions

:48:33. > :48:39.from our viewers. Steve says, "Why is there water on the pitch? It's

:48:40. > :48:45.water-based AstroTurf. It used to be sand. Now technology moving forward,

:48:46. > :48:48.it's a water-based pitch. Which makes the game a bit quicker. It's

:48:49. > :48:53.been shown over the last few weeks how quick the game is. The ball

:48:54. > :48:56.skids on the surface of the water? Does it stop you getting burnt so

:48:57. > :49:02.much if you fall? No, you can still get burnt. You see some slide

:49:03. > :49:06.tackles, some diving deflections, yeah, no, I suppose it's probably

:49:07. > :49:11.easier than sand based when you were ripped to shreds. We're thankful

:49:12. > :49:18.that it's water based to keep us a wee bit less burnt. Now back to Dan.

:49:19. > :49:21.Let me give you this, Rebecca says, shots from outside the D that go

:49:22. > :49:25.into the net without deflections, why don't they count as goals?

:49:26. > :49:29.That's quite a good question. A lot of people see the ball fly into the

:49:30. > :49:31.net from all angles and get excited and nothing comes of it. The ball

:49:32. > :49:35.has to be touched within the attacking D by one of the attacking

:49:36. > :49:40.team. That can come from a long ball that's deflected in or come from a

:49:41. > :49:44.shot, but effectively a goal can't be scored further away that the top

:49:45. > :49:49.of the D. That's your answer. How big a moment is this for British

:49:50. > :49:54.hockey? This is probably the biggest moment that we've ever had. The men

:49:55. > :49:57.won in 1988, Olympic Gold Medal. This is being shown prime time on

:49:58. > :50:01.BBC, moving the news for it! It's fantastic. We're lucky to be here

:50:02. > :50:04.and watch it in person. The girls will do everyone proud. They're a

:50:05. > :50:08.great team with a brilliant tournament, seven winds from seven.

:50:09. > :50:12.Looking forward to it -- wins. Are you feeling relaxed and confident or

:50:13. > :50:16.nervous? There will be some nerves. We know the girls really well. We

:50:17. > :50:20.know how much hard work they've put into it. Being athletes yourselves

:50:21. > :50:22.you know they're fully prepared. We all have confidence that they've

:50:23. > :50:26.gone through everything they need to be doing. They'll be ready. We're

:50:27. > :50:29.raring to support them along. It's going to be a sensational match.

:50:30. > :50:35.When Britain last won a Gold Medal in hockey it was the men's team back

:50:36. > :50:40.in 1988, Sean Curly was a star, scoring a hat-trick in the semifinal

:50:41. > :50:43.that. Was 6am on a Saturday morning against West Germany. This is 9pm on

:50:44. > :50:50.a Friday evening. It's going to be huge. I'm quite excited as you can

:50:51. > :50:56.tell! Equally excite issed Anthony Joshua. They caught up with Joe

:50:57. > :51:03.Joyce after his win. ? Talk us through it. Yeah, he was running for

:51:04. > :51:07.the first round, keeping me on the end of his jab. Lots of foot work

:51:08. > :51:10.movement and agility. He couldn't keep up with that for the three

:51:11. > :51:14.rounds much I started closing him down. Cut the ring off and landed

:51:15. > :51:23.some shots, especially the second and third round. Started working.

:51:24. > :51:26.Due know that you were one down at the end of the first round? I

:51:27. > :51:30.suspected something because of the way Lee was talking to me in the

:51:31. > :51:34.corner. I thought oh, right, I'd better pick it up and land some

:51:35. > :51:38.shots and win the bout. Here's an assessment, what did you think?

:51:39. > :51:42.Unbelievable. Dychko is tall. He wanted to work the jab and keep Joe

:51:43. > :51:46.at range. Joe warmed up in the first round. It's a mental game as well as

:51:47. > :51:49.physical. He figured him out. Second round he closed the gap down.

:51:50. > :51:53.Working him to the body, hurting him. That takes your breath away.

:51:54. > :51:56.Working him to the body, Dychko starts slowing down. He can't throw

:51:57. > :52:01.the jab like in the first round. That's when you ask me, what does

:52:02. > :52:05.Joe need to do to secure the fight, exactly the same as the second

:52:06. > :52:08.round, close the distance, put more pressure and Dychko will soon fade.

:52:09. > :52:13.That's what he done. I'm really happy for him, man. You're in the

:52:14. > :52:17.Olympic final. Yeah. One step closer to the gold. Don't worry about the

:52:18. > :52:23.gold. Just keep on winning. Yeah, yeah, just keep on winning, keep it

:52:24. > :52:26.simple. I'm happy for him. I seen Joe from grass-roots, you know, come

:52:27. > :52:33.up had a tough draw like the rest of the boys and he's here in Rio

:52:34. > :52:38.handling business. Staying hungry, staying humble. Many

:52:39. > :52:44.congratulations. See you on Sunday. A gold or silver awaits Joe Joyce on

:52:45. > :52:50.Sunday. The woman standing alongside me knows what that is like. Jade

:52:51. > :52:51.Jones last night retained her taekwondo title. This is how she did

:52:52. > :53:10.it. COMMENTATOR: Defending her Olympic

:53:11. > :53:14.title Jade Jones of Great Britain. The Spanish fighter.

:53:15. > :53:26.She takes the head shot and plants another. There is head shot that

:53:27. > :53:33.puts Gomez back in this one. A picture perfect shot there. Gomez

:53:34. > :53:40.reeling and rocking. This, a real battle. Time for Gomes to try and do

:53:41. > :53:47.something. Ten seconds left. Jones takes

:53:48. > :53:52.another. Gomez on the back foot. Can she do it one more time? The Welsh

:53:53. > :53:59.wonder strikes gold again, to the delight of the British fans and the

:54:00. > :54:05.Brazilian crowd. Wonderful performance, absolute perfection.

:54:06. > :54:14.Jade Jones becomes the two-times Olympic champion.

:54:15. > :54:19.In London she was the youngest British Olympic champion. She's now

:54:20. > :54:22.the youngest British athlete ever to defend successfully defend an

:54:23. > :54:26.Olympic title. Many congratulations. Do you remember much about anything

:54:27. > :54:30.that happened last night? It's always such a blur. I just remember

:54:31. > :54:34.I kept thinking, one fight at a time. You know, like seeing my

:54:35. > :54:38.family, when I walked out and it just gave me such a boost. I was

:54:39. > :54:41.like, you know, I never want to lose in front of my family. They've

:54:42. > :54:45.supported me so much. I just want to do it for them. Your grandfather

:54:46. > :54:50.introduced you to the sport, was he here? Yeah my granddad and my Nana

:54:51. > :54:54.have drove me all over the country and took me everywhere. I owe so

:54:55. > :54:57.much to them. You were very aggressive immediately in that Gold

:54:58. > :55:04.Medal match. You had to be, didn't you? Yeah, with Gomez the Spanish

:55:05. > :55:09.girl, if I don't pressure her, she'll pressure me. You have to get

:55:10. > :55:14.on her from the start. I went 6-0 up at the start. In the second round I

:55:15. > :55:20.took too much pressure and she started come bag being. The coach --

:55:21. > :55:24.coming back. The coach was like, "You've got one round." I chucked

:55:25. > :55:28.everything I had and kept on her. The next minute, Olympic champion.

:55:29. > :55:31.How do you stay calm because you said beforehand how much more

:55:32. > :55:36.difficult it is being the defending champion. How have you managed your

:55:37. > :55:40.nerves? I think like try to put things into perspective. I know if

:55:41. > :55:44.them girls that I'm fighting come to the taekwondo gym where I train, I

:55:45. > :55:49.know I'd beat them up. It's like, just because I'm in the Olympics,

:55:50. > :55:53.like, not to panic and you know, big them up. Yeah just imagine myself in

:55:54. > :55:58.the gym sparring them. I know I'm better than them. I pretend right,

:55:59. > :56:01.let's go, we're in the gym. It seems to work. You didn't really let

:56:02. > :56:07.yourself go until you knew you'd won. Then you did. You went for it.

:56:08. > :56:14.That was my moment. They don't happen often. You've got to enjoy it

:56:15. > :56:18.when it happens. It's just amazing, yeah. You can't describe the

:56:19. > :56:22.feeling. Four years of training for that one moment, it's so special. I

:56:23. > :56:27.was looking down here because I know hundreds of people gathered at the

:56:28. > :56:31.Mountain Park hotel in Flint to watch you win at 2am. Four years ago

:56:32. > :56:37.the flint pavilion was renamed in your honour. Yeah, no, my home

:56:38. > :56:42.support is just amazing. I couldn't ask for better. I was actually on

:56:43. > :56:45.face time to like the whole pub after the semifinal match, so yeah,

:56:46. > :56:49.it was amazing to see all the atmosphere there and just, you know,

:56:50. > :56:53.how much support they have for me, win or lose, I can feel it's not

:56:54. > :56:57.just if I win, it's if I win or lose. It makes me so much more

:56:58. > :57:00.confident and hungry to win. And apart from your family, who would

:57:01. > :57:04.you say has been the biggest influence and support? It has to be

:57:05. > :57:10.Paul Green, my coach. I don't think people understand how much of an

:57:11. > :57:14.impact he has. He's literally a psychopath trainer. He trains us all

:57:15. > :57:21.the time and constantly training me so hard. He literally puts his life

:57:22. > :57:27.into it. He is a legend. Yeah, I owe it all to him. There could be more

:57:28. > :57:37.to come from the taekwondo. Because your team-mate and housemate, Bianca

:57:38. > :57:41.Walkdon fights tomorrow. She has a chance for gold. She has to be on

:57:42. > :57:46.her game to win. I'm confident she can definitely win. She deserved it

:57:47. > :57:51.more than anyone. He's had two ACLs. She hasn't stopped. She's kept

:57:52. > :57:53.pushing. She's my training partner. We're constantly pushing each other

:57:54. > :57:57.all the time and eating right, sleeping right. We're doing

:57:58. > :58:01.everything we possibly can to win. She deserve it's more than anyone as

:58:02. > :58:04.well. I hope that she wins as well. She got injured just before London

:58:05. > :58:09.and missed out. This is actually her first Olympics. Yeah, it's her first

:58:10. > :58:13.Olympics. It's amazing to be coming to the Olympics together, with your

:58:14. > :58:18.friend, who's your training partner as well. What next for you? You're a

:58:19. > :58:21.double Olympic champion but still so young, presumably there are more

:58:22. > :58:25.Olympics ahead? Yeah, it's amazing to be double Olympic champion

:58:26. > :58:30.already and that just makes me more eager, God, I'm 23 and I can still

:58:31. > :58:35.do more. I think I'm still not the finished product. I can get better.

:58:36. > :58:41.So yeah, definitely I'm going to try and get to Tokyo and go again.

:58:42. > :58:45.Famously when your grandfather introduced you to martial arts, it

:58:46. > :58:50.was because you were a bit a naughty kid. What has it brought you in your

:58:51. > :58:55.life? Getting into taekwondo it channels your emotions and gets you

:58:56. > :58:59.going on the right path really. It gives you a goal in life. If you're

:59:00. > :59:04.a hyperactive kid put your energy into something good. It gives you a

:59:05. > :59:08.meaning in life and taekwondo, without it, I don't know where I'd

:59:09. > :59:12.be. You have been sensational. Many congratulations to Jade Jones and

:59:13. > :59:17.we've got more taekwondo coming up. On BBC Two, when we switch shortly,

:59:18. > :59:20.we will be showing you Lutalo Muhammad in his quarter final.

:59:21. > :59:28.Diving is on right now on the red button. That's Tom Daley in the

:59:29. > :59:35.preliminary round. Boxing, the women's lightweight final. At 9pm,

:59:36. > :59:38.push back time for Great Britain against the Netherlands in the Gold

:59:39. > :59:41.Medal match of the women's hockey, the first time the British women

:59:42. > :59:47.have ever been in the final and it could be a first gold in hockey

:59:48. > :59:50.since 1988, when Sean Curly and his British side beat West Germany. Lots

:59:51. > :59:56.more to come from the Olympics. But my thoughts are very much with Nick

:59:57. > :59:58.Skelton and the whole of his family for his winning the individual Gold

:59:59. > :00:00.Medal, it will mean more than anything he's achieved in his

:00:01. > :00:05.career. He gives
